Volandia

Mentioned on
1 list
Museum
Specialty Museums
Volandia is a massive aviation museum located near Milan's Malpensa International Airport. It houses an impressive collection of real planes, flight simulators, and even a playground for kids. Visitors can explore numerous scale models, military and civil aircraft both indoors and outdoors, as well as old and new cars. The museum also features a space section for enthusiasts.
We absolutely loved this museum. Although the main theme is flying machines (planes, helicopters, etc..) there is much more, like a various train models and cars as well as car models If you are the sort of person that likes planes, cars and also to read the details about exhibits, you can easily spend all day here
Illremember T — Google review
Very impressive displays, especially the space and car collection. The children indoor playground was amazing as well , and the kids liked it a lot. On the downside - many displays are very run down which is a shame as they could make this place so much better - the train models and tracks are not working and all filled with cobweb, some bathrooms are not functional and the train and old car display in the back of the museum is just sad. Additionally the large open aircrafts next to the airport fence could be cleaned a bit. In addition, there are not too many attractions for little kids, who wanted to enter planes, cars and helicopters but there were only a few of them that could be entered.
Alex B — Google review
We had a few hours before we could check in to our room, this was the perfect place to pass them. Take the sidewalk from upper level / departure to the gate, then call from the gate, and someone will come and unlock it for you. The museum itself features airplanes from the very early days of aviation in Italy. The building is an old airplane factory.
Segev T — Google review
Really cool museum at Malpensa Airport! Lots of interesting history and full-sized airplanes to check out, both indoors and outside. There’s even a café inside with snacks and drinks. Only downside is you might have to wait about 15 minutes for someone to let you in or out, which is a bit annoying if you’ve got a flight to catch. But overall, a fun place to visit if you’ve got some extra time at the airport.
Fatima S — Google review
My son loved this museum! Many things to see and learn. We stayed for an hour but you can easily spend more time because there is a lot of information. Very interesting!
Ron Y — Google review
Because I still have time before departure and find place to visit. It has many antique cars which I never see before. And it has many aeroplane outside which is very interesting. Just I don’t know why has no entrance from airport which pass thru the bridge. The plate I need walk anticlockwise but it has no road which is only fence. I need walk difficult which cross the sixth rental car park around 20 minutes to arrive the entrance. I am highly recommend to set a entrance which just below the airport bridge and attract the tourist to come
Kamocot — Google review
Really great way to spend a few hours if your’e waiting for a flight. Go outside at the second floor and go through the pathway up the highway. There is an alternative entrance to the museum where you have to call the given number and someone will come to open the gates.

Vicolungo The Style Outlets

Outlet mall
Shopping
Vicolungo The Style Outlets is a sprawling shopping destination located close to Milan's city center, offering a vast selection of 150 fashion and design brands. Visitors can enjoy all-year discounts and a spacious, well-maintained environment. With over 35,000 sq.m. of space, this outlet provides an enjoyable open-air shopping experience with various dining options available in the main plaza.
Great outlet just outside Milan with a wide selection of well-known brands at great prices. Clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Plenty of parking, good food options, and even a playground for kids. Perfect for a day of shopping!
Roy V — Google review
I have visited this outlet regularly since its creation. What is obvious is that the quality on offer has progressively gone down with many of the stores that we liked now having moved elsewhere. And brands with good reputation appear to offer mostly their bottom of the line products, often made of synthetic materials. There are still some exceptions but you have to look hard to find them.
Sebastian R — Google review
It’s a great shopping destination for fashion lovers looking for quality at a discount. With over 150 stores, including top Italian and international brands, there’s something for every style and budget. The layout is open-air and easy to navigate, with plenty of space to relax between shops. Family-friendly amenities, free parking, and several cafés and restaurants make it ideal for a day trip. It’s well-connected to Milan and Turin, and often features special promotions and seasonal events
Gabriele D — Google review
This is a good outlet but not so perfect. The prices are a bit higher in comparison to the other outlets. And the variety is not so high. But the atmosphere and design are nice and friendly. There are Enough toilets and parkings. But options for eating are so less.
PegiTa ( — Google review
A fantastic open-air outlet — I absolutely loved it! This open-air outlet was such a great surprise! The whole place is beautifully designed, with wide, clean walkways and a very relaxing atmosphere. Shopping outdoors made the experience so much more enjoyable and stress-free. There’s a great selection of stores, with something for everyone — from clothing and shoes to home goods and accessories. I could have spent hours browsing! The prices were excellent, with lots of good deals and discounts in most shops. I found some real bargains that made the trip totally worth it. Everything felt very well organized, tidy, and pleasant. If you’re looking for a day of shopping in a lovely setting, without the chaos of an indoor mall, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back!
Diogo F — Google review
Nice outlet! Very nice environment, super clean area, all you need you’ll find there. We‘ve been there for a couple of hours and luckily it wasn’t to full so we could check all the stores we were interested. Nice restaurant and cafes you can find on the main plaza. A huge selection of stores and interesting brands
Stephane B — Google review
Nice outlet. The walk is outside which is nice if the weather is good. The prices of American brands are a little expensive. Do arrive especially for them.

The Space Cinema - Cerro Maggiore

Movie theater
Fun & Games
Our preferred multisala cinema here in the Varese area. After so many years, we did notice that the "mall" has been changed even though not improved so much but, the area of the cinema is always as great as expected.
Riccardo S — Google review
Cinema, a few shops and some great places to eat. It's managed to keep up with bigger and busier shopping centres and movie theatres and still looks modern and clean. Good facilities and accessible services. The ground floor store is definitely worth a visit as there's something for everyone and some excellent bargains in all seasons
Elena E — Google review
In a strategic place, it's probably the only one that shows original language movies in the area. The mall is not well managed, usually empty and is lacking of shops, but it deserves a visit for the cinema itself. The prices are of course standardized with the others of the chain, so pretty high if compared with the competitors. The rooms are good, usually I don't find too many people
Omar P — Google review
Let’s start from the popcorn 🍿 tastes like it’s been in there for like a week (meaning tastes bad) , they do not show movies with the original language (English ), yes I know I’m in Italy but already of fiction for people who don’t know the language and the majority of tourists understand English
Jay G — Google review
Understaffed, dirty and chaotic. Buy your tickets online but you still have to wait in line for refreshments because it's the same line for tickets! The line to access the multiplex has only ONE person checking movie tickets...Bathrooms are dirty and dated and when the movie is over you will not find a trash bin anywhere, so take your rubbish out with you and good luck finding a place to leave it. You might as well take it home.
Cristina R — Google review
The space is a very nice place I often go to see movies but if you arrive a little early there are not many shops to shoot so it's a bit boring
Sara M — Google review

Parco Castello is a picturesque park located between Milan and Varese, offering a serene escape into nature within the city. The sizable park features a small lake, shaded areas, walking tracks, and a skate ramp for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy the scenic surroundings while observing various wildlife such as turtles basking in the sun, ducks swimming in the pond, and squirrels roaming around.
Very beautiful park with alot of squirrels and ducks
Ahmed H — Google review
I visited this park on April 2024 and I have mixed feelings about it. Despite the surrounding nature and animal species living here are remarkable (there are squirrels, ducks, etc) the maintenance could be definitely improved. There were many benches and fences totally degraded and toilets and hygienic services extremely soiled. It is a shame have a gem like this not well managed as it could be a natural paradise on which relaxing, play with dogs and walking with your family!
Vincenzo P — Google review
What a beautiful park and location for everybody to enjoy. The pond and all the variety of birds were amazing, and it was such a peaceful, calming environment we loved it
HMT C — Google review
Great park love this place if only it was a little bit better looked after with a nice place to get a coffee would be perfect 👌🏻
David ( — Google review
Visit this place for the first time with my husband. It's really beautiful park. Heard from my husband when he was a kid they can swim in the lake, but now you can't as the water getting murky. But it's still beautiful park. Love the turtle bathing in the sun :)
Florida D — Google review
Nice park. There was Squirrel, turle and goose, It's also sometimes crowded. The park is green and good for your lungs.
Ideal T — Google review
Nice Park lots of animals, ducks, sea turtles, and squirrels. Lots of green and picnic places.
Raaya K — Google review
The park is lovely on a good Spring day. Good for a walk or a picnic or a visit to the duck pond. Unfortunately there are limited facilities such as a children playground. There's a place to skate and a skateboard pipe. There's a small bar for refreshments.

The Basilica of San Gaudenzio is a prominent landmark in Novara, Italy. Its towering central cupola, reaching 121 meters high, makes it visible from almost anywhere in the city. The 19th-century masterpiece features ornate columns and colorful frescos inside its opulent interior. This church is renowned for its impressive dome, one of the largest in Italy, offering breathtaking views from the top.
Incredible building, quite spectacular.... make sure you walk all around the outside
Nick P — Google review
The Basilica, a symbol of Novara, adds a wonderful atmosphere to the city with its high dome and exterior facade that harmonizes with the surrounding streets. The architecture of the Basilica is truly fascinating and worth exploring. The interior is not cluttered with objects, with the architectural features taking center stage. I can say it's a religious structure that impresses you with its grandeur as soon as you step inside. We enjoyed exploring it. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any informative brochures or plaques while touring.
Murat Y — Google review
Wonderful church, however the way to get the best view is inside a bank parking lot. The security guard is extremely unfriendly. Why would they not allow access to see the beautiful structure? I guess this is reinforces the trend of Italy giving control of historical monuments to corporations.
Wayne K — Google review
Refreshing contrast between ornate decor and plain walls. Quiet, still atmosphere and not crawling with tourists. The statue that was formerly atop the spire is now inside so you can get close up to see the details.
Bethany C — Google review

Museo di Storia Naturale "Faraggiana Ferrandi" is a charming museum located next to the Duomo di Novara, offering free entry. It showcases an impressive collection of taxidermy animals, including reindeer, badgers, kingfishers, lions, tigers, and even a polar bear. Each display provides detailed information about the animal's habitat and lifecycle.
What a hidden gem of the city! We went today with 3 years old and 5 years old. We loved it! It is well maintained and very educational! Many to explore!
Lan X — Google review
Staff is very kind and it is clear they try their best, and we acknowledge and appreciate it. But the museum itself is just... not good. The exhibits are old, done in outdated methods, and wonky-looking. As a lover of natural history museums I was deeply disappointed. It can only be enjoyable for someone who never saw taxidermy before, maybe. I feel bad for leaving this review, since I can very clearly tell an effort was made in order to make this museum better and more modern. But at the end of the day, it's just a small bunch of decades old, poorly taxidermied animals in small rooms, and is just not worth the time or the parking money. I can not, for the life of me, understand the high rating on Google.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I'm not particularly fond of stuffed animals, but I have to say that in this museum they are artfully displayed, following a very interesting path. The staff is friendly and helpful, the displays are clear and well-lit, with small multi-sensory stops and a photography exhibition. I also think the children's activities, which we glimpsed during the visit, are very interesting (unfortunately, my kids are too old). The visit is free and lasts at least an hour. It's definitely worth a visit (or two!) (Original) Bello, bello, bello.

Terrible experience! Would never recommend! The food was good, but the service is the worst I’ve ever seen. Waiter and waitress were so slow and didn’t care. Waited for bottle of water for 15 minutes. When I asked for Drink menu waiter looked at me like I’m some sort of crazy person. He said why you need the menu there’s just drinks.... Waited for the main course for 40 minutes and when asked how long I have to wait he said - long! And then he added- if you don’t like it, you can go! There were few tables taken. It’s a shame that such staff works at this nice place!

I come from Sicily where family warmth is a typical character of those who know how to savor the virtuosity and exceptional qualities of the heat of the sun, here I had the impression of experiencing those typical and traditional emotions of my land. Furthermore, the beer shop is well stocked with beers with a very respectable display, my impression was that of someone entering a beer boutique! Convento dell'Annunciata

Cultural center

Nestled in a somewhat neglected neighborhood, the Convento dell'Annunciata stands as a testament to history and artistry. This former religious convent has been beautifully renovated, showcasing expansive spaces and charming internal courtyards adorned with remnants of ancient frescoes on its exterior walls. Inside, visitors can marvel at well-preserved paintings that grace both the walls and vaulted ceilings of the basilica, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

The facade of the church has been redone and is rather bare and anonymous. Big shopping Center near Voghera. Plenty of shops to choose. What I like most here is the extremely large wine shop inside the ipermarket. You'll find two facing walls, each about twenty metres long, one devoted to fare wines, the other to white and sparkling wines. Some quite expensive or very difficult to find.

Very great place as a shopping mall at south Pavia area. The real advantage is the so familiar atmosphere, the children playground is not so big but enough for them to get some fun. (Translated by Google) Perfect evening, incredibly clean, dark, cloudless sky! We began with an introduction of the summer constellations, and distances of the stars as orientation Arcturus / Vega / Deneb. The second part in the recently created planetarium with an introduction to the solar system and astronomical distances. The third part: observation through telescopes (Dobsonian) of M13, the famous globular cluster in the constellation of Hercules, M57, an unmissable planetary nebula in Lyra and Saturn just risen to the east. I brought a small astronomical binocular with me to do some tests, the purity of the sky was incredible and the ease of locating some objects that were almost invisible from the plain due to light pollution! I would like to put all the stars I saw yesterday in this review, but it's not possible! then only 5. Vega - Deneb - Arturo - Antares and Altair who kept us company throughout the evening together with the highly trained and friendly staff. Already knowing well the beauties of the sky having been an amateur astronomer for some time, it was an unforgettable experience for everyone. I will be back soon with other friends. (Original) Serata perfetta, cielo incredibilmente pulito, scuro, senza nuvole!

They organize several events to observe planets and stars. In the program that I chose there was also a walk in the woods, a short path taken under the moonlight, listening to the nocturnal life of some animals that live there. Really very nice experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The guides are also very kind and available to answer your questions. The ticket prices are really good, also taking into account the duration of the event (we started at around 9pm and was supposed to end at 11.30pm, but instead we finished at 12.30am). The road is perhaps the only point, it is not very comfortable but you can get there. A military chaplain returning from the war, Don Adamo Accosa, after seeing so much destruction, thought of a place of prayer and reconciliation for all willing peacemakers. Finding himself in the need of having to build the small church of his village in the mountains, he had the idea of collecting the ruins of the conflict (which in 1951-'52 were still many) and with them rebuilding the temple as a symbol and hope for a greater reconstruction: that of human brotherhood; and then furnish it liturgically with many painful memories of the Second World War. I highly recommend visiting this wonderful place and praying for peace. The altar urn is a bomb, the baptismal font is made from the shutter of a cannon from the battleship Andrea Doria. Everything must be observed carefully because each one tells a story of suffering and defeat, because in wars there are no winners. After visiting it, outside, in front of the tank, I thought that we never learn from our mistakes and it hurt me to think that while I was photographing that tank, not too far from me, an almost identical tank was still sowing death and destruction.

(Translated by Google) Lake Brugneto, in the heart of the Trebbia valley, is the large reservoir that supplies the taps of Genoese homes. In the middle of the mountains above the city, Lake Brugneto is the ideal place for those who want to enjoy a beautiful walk immersed in nature a stone's throw from the Ligurian capital. But among those fishing and those enjoying a picnic there are also those who carefully peer into the middle of the lake, looking for the tip of a bell tower. (''LEGEND OF THE COUNTRY no church has ever existed'') Hikers, families on trips, fishermen. Lake Brugneto today is a destination for spring walks for nature-loving Genoese people. About an hour's drive from the Ligurian capital, the lake offers a 13.5 kilometer path along its perimeter, which can be covered in about 6 hours. The route winds at times along the lake shore and at times on the slopes. For the lazy ones, there are some picnic areas to enjoy a nice relaxing afternoon. For the more adventurous, however, a beautiful excursion to Monte Antola allows you to enjoy the best view of the lake. For the more curious, however, sharpen your eyes carefully and equip yourself with binoculars. Maybe you will actually be able to see the bell tower.😊 𝓚.𝓢 😊................................💕 (Original) Il lago del Brugneto, nel cuore della val Trebbia, è il grande serbatoio che rifornisce i rubinetti delle case Genovesi. This was a fantastic experience for my family and I. It had just started raining when we arrived, so we were glad of the shelter. The museum has an amazing amount of historical significant pieces, and some really exotic machinery to view. Well worth a visit

Nice spot to explore and learn about naval history. Gallery has to-scale ships and also many interactive spaces. You can also go inside a decommissioned submarine. There is a nice view of the Genova area at the top of the gallery.

The museum is quite big. It consist of 4 levels with each floor has a different stor in which youre directed to have a tour route to enjoy all the story it host some colombus history, the genovese role, italian immigration around the world, and a replica how the ship looked like in the past. If youre scared of narrow space, id suggest to skip the submarine experience. Note: im a bit confused how to find the exit door at the end of the route.

Renzo Piano's renovations have transformed the area into a vibrant hub featuring attractions such as an aquarium, museums, an open-air pool, and numerous restaurants and bars. The port holds significant historical landmarks like Palazzo San Giorgio, which was once a jail and housed the world's first bank in the early 1400s.

The Aquarium of Genoa is a remarkable destination located in the historic Porto Antico, an area that has undergone significant transformation over the centuries. Once a bustling hub for maritime activities, this waterfront locale was revitalized during the 1992 Expo through the visionary work of architect Renzo Piano. The aquarium showcases an impressive array of marine and freshwater species within its thoughtfully designed aquatic ecosystem display tanks, making it a must-visit attraction for nature enthusiasts and families alike.
Visiting the Aquarium of Genoa was a truly unforgettable experience. We were deeply impressed by the incredible variety of marine species on display—from colorful tropical fish and majestic sharks to playful dolphins and graceful jellyfish. Each exhibit was beautifully curated, allowing us to admire the unique beauty of every creature up close. The interior spaces were thoughtfully designed and remarkably immersive, making us feel as though we were walking through an underwater world. Everything was clean, well-organized, and visually stunning. The attention to detail in both the habitats and the educational displays added so much value to the visit. Overall, the Acquario di Genova exceeded our expectations. It's not just a place for children or marine enthusiasts—it's a breathtaking experience for anyone who appreciates nature's beauty. Highly recommended!

The places does impress the wanderers due to its vastness and abundance of various exotic expostinions. There are many interesting acquariums including both commonly known sea critters as well as even more interesting unpopular ones. If it's not enough for you, don't worry! There are a handful of beautifully recreated biomes containing the richness of coral reefs, raw desert enviroments full with beautifull animals as well as huge pool with eager to play dolphins within.
Antoni S — Google review
I love visiting aquariums. My favorite places among the aquariums I've visited so far are L’Oceanogràfic Valencia, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Moskvarium. This aquarium Genoa is quite small but it's easy to visit location for tourists and jellyfish tanks were lovely. I visited there during the winter off-season and there was no line so I am not sure if it was necessary to buy the on-line entrance ticket in advance.
Adam — Google review
This city is unique, special, and legendary. Although there are a lot of immigrants who create problems of cleanliness and also other kind. This aquarium is very large and interesting. It took about 2 hours to fully explord it. There are many species of marine animals here. It is always interesting to look at them and at the same time read information about them. And a large hall with a huge panoramic glass wall, through which you can see dolphins swimming underwater, was the realization of a child's dream. Sitting there, listening to the soothing music and looking at this magnificence was incomparable. Many people believe that the price of entering an aquarium is high. Maybe that's true.
Kakha K — Google review
We LOVED IT, this aquarium is huge and has some sea life I haven’t seen in US. We love aquariums, you can’t go wrong. Our daughter loves the jellyfish and some cool snakes in there Husband said the manatees were amazing and large variety of sea life and frogs. When you start you are on the bottom level and you go through the whole bottom level… then you go upstairs and see everything upstairs but also have a view of sharks and other animals you saw downstairs and upstairs is best for pictures of the dolphins and sharks - for me. There is also an area you can touch some sea life.
Jenny I — Google review
Really enjoyed the aquarium! It is quite busy as one wood expect but it flows pretty well out and back. Lots of different species of marine life to see from all over the world. Buy tickets in advance to avoid lining up twice and beware all the people outside trying to sell/force stuff into your hands.
Jeffrey T — Google review
Great place to visit for all ages. It’s a beautiful aquarium that has everything you would expect. The heating is terrible and it is hot if you go in the summer. The animals are very active and seem to be taken care of well. If in the area, it is worth your time to visit.
Justin Y — Google review
Thoughtfully curated exhibits and environments such as Amazon, Lake Malawi, corals in addition to cetaceans, penguins, seals, sharks. Although the tanks and holding areas are quite large, it is sad to see the mammals and large fish confined. Dark tunnels add to the anticipation. Children will enjoy the touch tank area. Cafe, gift shops. Commentaries in Italian and English.

Nestled in the heart of Genoa, the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo stands as a stunning example of Romanesque architecture, characterized by its striking black-and-white striped façade. This magnificent cathedral, constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries, boasts an interior adorned with exquisite frescoes and houses unique holy relics that draw visitors from all over. As you stroll along Via San Lorenzo, you'll encounter this iconic landmark flanked by two majestic lions at its entrance.
A true Genovese gem. Step inside for the dramatic black-and-white marble, stay for the climb. The tower rewards you with breathtaking views of the city and sea, 100% worth the steps. If you’re only seeing one thing in Genova, let it be this. Gothic vibes + skyline goals.

On this street, there are countless buildings that look like little palaces. Some can be entered for free, while others require a ticket to explore further. From the outside they don’t seem particularly special, but inside they’re full of surprises. I recommend going into one or two to take a look.
Stephon C — Google review
Impressive cathedral that features the typical black and white marble stripes which were a symbol of medieval Genoese nobility. The church, without 5o Genoese Gothic architecture, was completed in the early 14th century. The Interior is primarily Romanesque, with Renaissance and Baroque additions in later centuries. Watch the lion sculptures besides the stairs at the front.
Seimen B — Google review
Such a beautiful church. It was free and definitely worth a visit inside. I was wearing shorts, and so they said people not go past a certain point wearing shorts or skirts. So be aware of that in summer.
Bethany S — Google review
The church contains purported sacred relics of Saint John the Baptist (the city's patron saint), which arrived in 1099 AD; and the Sacred Belt of the Virgin Mary. Although I probably walked past the chapels with these relics, I didn’t know what I was looking at so didn’t get pics. So research beforehand so you don't miss them like I did!

Gorgeous. Keep in mind they expect a dress code. So if you have tank top and a skirt you wont be able to go further in. Cathedral is free, but for a fee you can also go to the tower and museum. Very very pretty!
Delfina O — Google review
Genoa's Cathedral of San Lorenzo (Cattedrale Metropolitana di San Lorenzo) is one of the city's most important and recognizable churches—a blend of history, diverse architectural styles, and rich sacred art. Below is a general description: history, architecture, interior, works of art, and interesting facts. The first churches on this site date back to the 5th and 6th centuries. An early basilica existed here, already being expanded and serving as a Christian community. The current church was consecrated by Pope Gelasius II in 1118, at which time San Lorenzo gained cathedral status. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the building underwent significant renovations: Gothic elements were added, and a distinctive façade, interior colonnades, and side chapels were created. After a fire in 1296, repair and reconstruction work were necessary. In the 16th century, the architect Galeazzo Alessi designed significant modifications, including: The dome, apse, and roofs of the side naves. Restorations were carried out in the 19th and 20th centuries, restoring or enhancing the medieval elements of the original building. This work was also carried out as part of the Jubilee of the Year 2000. The façade features characteristic black and white marble stripes—a feature common to many churches in northern Italy, including the influence of Pisa and Liguria. Three portals are decorated with reliefs and sculptures. The lunettes above the main portal feature a motif of the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence (San Lorenzo) and an image of God the Father with symbols of the Evangelists. Two towers (bell towers) flank the façade: one left tower was not originally completed, while the upper part of the right tower was completed later (16th century). The divergence of the towers gives the façade a slightly asymmetrical character. Stairs and fortifications in front of the cathedral: In the 19th century, the front stairs were rebuilt and marble lions were added, repositioned following urban changes (raising/lowering the square, etc.). The basilica has a traditional layout with three naves divided by columns. The side naves contain numerous chapels, donated by various families and foundations. Behind the main altar are the dome and apse designed by Galeazzo Alessi. The apse features late Mannerist and Baroque decorations, including frescoes by Lazzaro Tavarone. The Chapel of St. John the Baptist (San Giovanni Battista) — one of the most valuable interiors: sculptures, reliefs, marble decorations, and works by artists such as Matteo Civitale, Andrea Sansovino, and Giovanni d’Aria. The interior is rich in frescoes, stained glass, marble decorations, and stucco; Decorative elements represent the artistic traditions of Liguria, Tuscany, and Lombardy. The Museo del Tesoro (Treasury of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo) — beneath the church, in cellars or vaults, it houses numerous sacred objects and relics from the 11th to the 21st centuries. Among the most important artifacts: Sacro Catino — a green crystal or glass bowl/dish, considered for centuries a probable "Grail," mythically associated with the Last Supper. Today, research indicates it is an Islamic/Shiite artifact from the 9th-10th centuries. Gold and silver arks and crosses, including the Zaccaria Cross. Ark of the Relics of St. John the Baptist — the saint's ashes from the Holy Land, donated to Genoa. San Lorenzo is the diocesan cathedral — the main church of the Archdiocese of Genoa. This place is important not only religiously, but also historically and socially. For centuries, the square in front of the cathedral (sagrato) was a place for public gatherings, political events, and urban rituals—it served as the "agora" of the medieval city. During World War II, the cathedral was hit by a bomb (1941). The bomb lodged in the nave, did not explode, and remains a curiosity within the building to this day. The celebration of the feast of St. Lawrence (August 10) is an important day for Genoa. Entrance to the cathedral is free, there is no waiting time, and the cathedral is open every day.

Impressive exterior, with the black and white stripes, which also feature inside, but the inside leaves a little to be desired overall. Of course beautiful and intricate in design, but feels slightly unfinished and messy inside. Also got kicked out halfway through for wearing shorts, as many other comments mention. An odd experience overall - the basilica a few minutes walk away was much more impressive inside!

It is a few streets behind the train and bus stations and runs every 30 minutes. Maybe closed between 12.30and 14.30. The view on the way up and down is fantastic and quite high. There is a church to visit. There is also a cafe and 2 restaurants of which one closes at 2.30 and there is a walk to get up it. This is worth a visit just for the ride.

A peaceful and beautiful place to say a prayer. The church is quiet and full of history—really special to visit. Keep in mind: cars stop running from 12:30 to 2:30, so plan your trip around that. Behind the church, there’s a nice shady area with trees—perfect for resting and staying cool on a hot day.

Go for the expansive views and access to the Sentiero del Rio Tuia mountain hiking trail behind the church. The trail is an ancient footpath through a beautiful old growth forest to villages far south of Rapallo. This experience is shaded, cool and serene compared to the tourist congested sea side trails of Cinque Terre. The begining of the trail is paved, it soon becomes rustic so wear hiking shoes or something similar as the surface varies, nonetheless it is an easy hike. Near the church there are two restaurants, each with stunning views of the bay, Portofino and the sea beyond. The church is counter reformation pasticche, though it possess a beautiful fascade, setting and is place of true devotion.

What a wonderful world. Italy has many beautiful surprises and this is one. A nice and atypical park with many many great places. The path is well marked and there is a lot of picnic area with tables and views. Sadly there is two drawbacks. The first one is the map indicated on every main signals in the park, indeed the satellite view isn't accurate enough. Secondly there is no place to bivouac. I know there is a shelter but a national park which is close to nature must have a dedicated place to campers. Globally if you have a detour to do to see this park, do it.
