Zoo Lujan is a unique 37-acre wildlife sanctuary located about 60 kilometers from Buenos Aires, making it an exciting day trip for families and animal lovers alike. This zoo stands out for its interactive experiences, allowing visitors to pet and take photos with majestic creatures like lions, tigers, and pumas. With guided tours available every half hour, guests can learn more about the animals in a friendly atmosphere.
Lots of cute animals strolling around the place. They have also guided tour every half an hour. The guides are friendly and helpful. The food is more of the same, it has a restaurant and a snack shop. Both serve about the same food. But it has a decent meal if you want to have lunch. The more dangerous animals are well behaved and very well treated. They are not abused.
Pedro W — Google review
Very average. Can no longer touch tigers and lions. Plus can't ride elephants or camels like you used to be able to. Gets 2 stars because the birds were very interesting and great experience, plus we stroked the camel and snake. The ground were poorly kept and animals were very sleepy. Very disappointed ☹️
Jordan M — Google review
For my kids it's great because they can touch and be up close to the animals, nice area to bring your own picnic also.
Deslie B — Google review
Contrary to the idea, the zoo is not a huge one... But the best thing about it is you can take pictures with tigers and Lions and can touch and feed other animals too... Overall a great experience indeed.
Indrasish B — Google review
This is a very special place. Please note, it’s a short drive outside of the city and the other are purely ground. Unique experience in many ways. Argentinians get charged less, but remember, foreigners don’t pay 21% taxes when traveling within the country, so I would stop complaining.
Oleksandr D — Google review
Absolutely amazing zoo, one of the only zoos in the world that lets you enter the cages! Genuine pics... They have a huge collection of both South American and African animals, and you can get closer than anywhere else.
Marcus W — Google review
Animals do not seem to be well treated. Those that you can play look dumb and lazy (maybe doped). In general, the zoo is not in good shape. If you are planning to go to Buenos Aires, consider visiting the Temaiken Zoo.
Édnei B — Google review
I liked the place and the contacts with the animals... I thnink some of the places should be improved

Terrific family experience and very family friendly, our kids were at ease the entire time a d alreadyaskingto return-- the instructors calibrated their support expertly to build our confidence. The whole operation runs very smoothly and professionally from the equipment room to the briefing. Love that they offer to video for you with your phone and don't push photo packages. They recommended 3 flights each as the beginner package and it was exactly the right amount.

The Basilica de Luján is a stunning example of Gothic architecture that captivates visitors with its grandeur and intricate details. Construction began in the late 19th century, initiated by Father Jorge Maria Salvaire after receiving approval from the Archbishop of Buenos Aires. The project was led by French architect Ulderic Courtois, later joined by other talented architects who contributed to its majestic design.
A simply stunning basilica. It’s is so super clean and so beautiful inside. Tons of vendors outside but they are not going to bug you. The restaurants close to the basilica are super good, a bit high costs. If you can venture further out you should. If you drive parking is easy and ample. You pay with an app.

Amazing Place, very peacefull!
Steven B — Google review
A very impressive place of worship, with a huge collection of Madonna-statues. You will be surrounded there by gift shops and restaurants that are not that heavenly, but that is the location. If you decide to calm down in the cathedral and pray, you will find out that it is a special place, despite all the marketing. In Argentina, catholicism is lived in an open, joyful manner. Give yourself the time needed to watch, listen, and to appreciate.
Peter H — Google review
Amazing experience, better go on weekend and visit a gaucho centre in the neighbouring city
Lou A — Google review
The Basilica del Juan in Argentina is a breathtaking architectural marvel, seamlessly blending Gothic and Romanesque influences. Its intricate facade and towering spires captivate visitors, while the interior’s ornate details and religious art evoke a sense of reverence. The basilica’s historical significance and stunning design make it a must-visit destination for those exploring Argentina’s rich cultural and religious heritage.

Museo Las Lilas De Areco is a must-visit attraction in San Antonio de Areco, featuring a remarkable collection of original artworks by the renowned artist Florencio Molina Campos. Known for his unique caricature-style depiction of rural gaucho life, Campos gained fame since the 1930s and even collaborated with Walt Disney in the 1940s. The museum offers three rooms showcasing Campos' works, along with other paintings by various artists from that era.
Incredible art exhibit that showcases the gaucho history. Beautiful interior and exterior. Should be on everyone’s San Antonio de Areco bucket list. Great show and statues.

(Translated by Google) The general admission price of $8,000 (and $5,000 with an extensive list of discounts: for seniors, students, teachers, minors, etc.) is completely justified. The curatorship is outstanding and educational. Unlike other museums, it makes the tour interesting and enjoyable. I highlight the modern layout and the lighting that enhances each work. The Molina Campos room is a must-see. Logistical tip: The entire tour takes approximately two hours. It has a cafeteria, a convenient place to take a break, a gift shop, and a very clean restroom. The best time to go is at 3:00 PM. If you're eager to dive into the rich gaucho culture of Argentina, a visit to the Museo Gauchesco Ricardo Güiraldes is an absolute must. Nestled in a serene setting just outside town, this museum is housed in a historic estancia and features several captivating sections. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a charming recreation of a traditional pulperia—akin to the local pub—alongside vintage carriages displayed in the garden.
Loved it. Remote, but wonderful information, timelines, and artifacts from wagons to spurs, mate gourds, those things they threw to bind cattle legs, and many other things in several buildings. The little town nearby has decent helado and a place that makes alfajores and chocolates. I definitely recommend a visit even though it's a way outside BA.
Damon L — Google review
Quiet and nice small museum of the gaucho Ricardo. There're a lot of items about gaucho lifestyle.
Oleksandr R — Google review
Lots of gaucho memorabilia, cost was nominal at 600 pesos. Worth an hour or two.
John M — Google review
This museum proudly exhibits horrific and racist paintings by Florencio Molina Campos. Do not go. I was disturbed and left the place crying. Awful.
Karina V — Google review
The building was made to host the museum, as a replica of a house contemporary to the gauchos. It has a lot of gaucho artifacts and a timeline to grasp argentinean history. Worth a visit.
Gon C — Google review
The building was erected to hold the museum. Up. Valuable family collection. Down. Does not respect all architectural feature of 19th century.
German G — Google review
Virtual Parkour of the Guiraldes museum. It's free and you will see the origins of the Gauchos there. La pulperia, different kind of horses ornament and tools to guide them, some history, etc. Then you can go and visit the rest of San Antonio de Areco.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful ranch. We had a very cold, cloudy day, but despite that, we were able to explore the area and take part in the tractor ride and other outdoor activities. We ate well. They don't bring you an abundance of everything, but they do come and go with the options they offer: appetizers, meat empanadas, salads, fries, chorizo and blood sausage, chicken, pork, flank steak, and roast beef. They came by again, again offering a variety of meats. I liked the experience. We'll definitely return. The bathrooms were clean, but by mid-afternoon, of the four available, two had been closed and another wasn't working, leaving only one bathroom available... Seguramente vamos a volver.

Estancia La Candelaria

Estancia La Candelaria del Monte is an upscale castle hotel that offers a unique immersion into the Argentine rural lifestyle. Located in San Miguel del Monte, Buenos Aires Province, this historic estancia provides a tranquil and elegant retreat amidst picturesque landscapes. Guests can unwind, connect with nature, and partake in traditional Argentine countryside activities. The heart of the experience revolves around the revered Argentine asado, a culinary ritual deeply rooted in history and tradition.
I’d give this place 6 stars if I could. The grounds are absolutely stunning and there’s a great mix of guided activities (empanada & mate demos, walking tour, horse demo, etc) and self-paced things (swimming, hiking, etc.). You need to rent a car to get out here but it’s so worth it - and the drive from downtown BA is straightforward. I’m gluten free and the staff was incredibly accommodating - I never had to miss out on a meal/snack or given a crappy alternative. We speak enough Spanish that that’s the language we used the whole time here and it’s worth noting that everyone else there that day was Argentine (nice that there aren’t a bunch of big tour buses), but all of our email comms back and worth were in English so I think you’d be fine if you didn’t speak Spanish.

The place is beautiful and amenities are amazing. But!!! Everything that starts from interaction with staff members who are responsible for any type of administrative tasks is horrible not the less. To make a reservation - took us two weeks of constant conversations. They just ignore you for days and a simple conversation to know what are the availabilities took them a week to give us a complete answer. We tried to do a reservation over the phone- they just say it’s impossible and we have to use WhatsApp. After they were not available on the phone just for simple follow ups. To pay the reservation is a lengthy two steps process and took them two days to complete. To check in - the person at the desk technically has a memory of a fish. He forgets about you a minute you leave his sight. We Had to go back 3 times to talk to him before we got our room ready. And we had a child with us. So it was very unpleasant experience to go back to and ask for the same thing 3 times. We came here second time as we really love the nature and atmosphere here. But unfortunately lack of professionalism makes our stay less pleasant already for a second time. We hoped something will change for our second stay but it changed for the worse not better.

Pros: One of the best places I've ever been in my life!! The castle was so beautiful, our room had a balcony and it was amazing! Also there was a great schedule of activities all day long like empanadas + wine tasting, a tour around the estate, lunch with a show, yerba mate tasting, ghost stories, etc. Also the food was absolutely amazing, I never expected a remote estate like this to have a really wide selection of amazing dishes!! Everything from snacks to lunch to dinner to dessert was amazing, their chef is insanely talented! Cons: Lots and lots of mosquitos. Definitely bring bug spray. We had to buy some in the store. And there were a lot of bugs around the outdoor pool which made me and my girlfriend uncomfortable swimming there. 5/5, my favorite experience in Argentina and one of the best of my life!!!

We enjoyed our stay for the carnaval long weekend. We were in the suite real which was nice. I thought some of the space could be used better with a comfortable couch to sit on, but understand they are trying to use period furniture. The bathroom could also use an upgrade, but it was ok. Overall a good time especially for the price. The carnaval party/dinner was really cool with great entertainment. Massages were really good. Lots of fun activities related to wellness.

Beautiful property, good food and friendly staff. We booked a colonial (family) room which does not at all compare with the charming room sold on the website. The bathroom is in desperate need for reservation, the toilet seat damaged and mold on the ceiling and it was poorly cleaned. At USD 500 a night for a hostel type room that was not clean we decided to leave after one night, as the alternative 3 rooms shown were in similar condition.

Nice place, but be careful, almost non existent wifi in bedrooms and very unreliable in common areas. In winter there is practically no hot water and very low pressure. I wouldn’t recommend to stay for more 1-2 nights at most.

Bad administration. Gaucho show very poor. Fiesta Gaucha the same. Meat from lunch average. Horse back riding is restricted to an small area. Tea served in foam cups. Is sold as premium but is less than average. The castle and park are beautiful.

Salamone was an architect and engineer, but this statue is a cool sculpture, with its wings that seem to defy gravity. Authorship has been attributed to the sculptor Santiago Chierico, who made the Christ of Laprida, but there is darkness about it, as in so many things in the life of Salamone, the great and dark architect. Cerro Ventana is a stunning hiking destination located just south of Bariloche, along the scenic Ruta 40 and Lago Gutierrez. This mountain is renowned for its unique volcanic rock formations and offers year-round climbing opportunities that cater to both beginners and intermediate climbers. As you ascend, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, lakes, and rivers—truly a feast for the eyes!

(Translated by Google) We arrived around 9 a.m. The entrance fee is 5,000 + the guide 15,000. We had the Russian guy, who was truly phenomenal. He was very friendly, concerned that everyone was doing their best, and the overall treatment was excellent. The difficulty depends on each person's physical condition; I found it easy. The hardest part is the first because the climb is very steep. Up to the fourth, you can turn back alone if you're tired. Bring at least 1.5 liters of water per person and food (fruit, sandwiches, bars, etc.). It's very important to wear appropriate footwear; there are many sections where you walk on stones, and it's very slippery.

I saw other people complain about the same guide I had; his name was Nico, so be mindful of who you get. (Translated by Google) The first stretch (from the base to Station 1) is killer. It's a little intimidating, but it gets less steep afterward. At this station, you can choose to get off and continue along the trail to the pools and Forgotten Gorge (we didn't do it, but we were told there was little water). There are 10 stations in total. Up to the 4th, you can descend on your own. If you decide not to continue past the 4th, the whole group will join you, as they can't leave you alone. From Station 5 to Station 8, there are larger rocks that require longer strides. From Station 8 to Station 10, it's peaceful. The views are unparalleled. So it's worth it. The guide "Ruso" was spectacular. I highlight him because half of it was the scenery and the other half was his company and explanations of the area. The entrance fee to the Park was $1,000, and the ascent to the hill was $7,500, per person. We were lucky enough to form a large group of 30 people (out of season, fewer usually go) and saw a Black-backed Eagle, a Guanaco, and other examples of the local fauna and flora. Since we visited the park during Holy Week and there were a lot of people, the groups were quite close together, and we couldn't stay long when we arrived at the Window. We quickly took photos and left. I understand this is so that more people can visit. During peak season, I recommend going very early; the gate opens at 7:30 a.m., but people already gather before then. We went at 7:00 a.m., and there was already a line of cars. Since the capacity is only 300 people, once it's full, it closes. This happened to us the first day we tried, and we were left outside.

(Translated by Google) The park is very beautiful. Today, June 14, we had a bad experience climbing Cerro Ventana. They estimate the ascent to take only 5 hours, and we had to go down with my family because my wife was going a little slower than the group. She wasn't fatigued at all; she just couldn't go any faster. At the second or third stop, our guide, Lucia, forced us to descend. I understand there are safety issues that the group can't go too late, but we could easily wait for Ivan, at a pace that, even for me, who trains daily, was fast. No one in the group was very fit, unlike my wife, who trains regularly. There were even people over 60 who were smokers. The craziest thing was that they let us climb to a point where a guide wasn't needed, and then they didn't refund us a single cent of the 60,000 we paid between the four of us. Truly shameful, and even more so, they were misinformed about everything. Anyway... I wasn't the only one affected; there were other people with the same issue, even a female Pilates instructor. They're not serious. The rest of the trails for people invalidate how we do very poorly maintained and marked.

I recommend not taking very small children because there are trails where you must be cautious and patient so as not to get hurt by loose stones on the ground. I also recommend not visiting them in summer, at noon because there is not much shadow. (Original) Senderos limpios y fáciles de recorrer. Las vistas son espectaculares. Casino Club Is Fancy! I heard about Casino Club through my research on Santa Rosa, La Pampa Tourism. What a Very Nice Place to visit! The place is gorgeous and has beautiful fountains of water outside that go off at around 7:00 P.M. every evening. They have plenty of slot machines and card games to play and have regular shows as well! They do charge 5 Pesos to get in, but that is Nothing if You are Coming from North America or Europe obviously. I really Loved the Scenery both inside and outside of the Casino! Even though I do Not Gamble, the Casino Club is well worth a Visit or a Gamble! I want to personally Thank Jose Flores and his family for taking me here back on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Thank you. Such a beautiful place! I loved the personal touch; you can really tell that they care deeply for the animals. They put so much work and love into each one. Additionally, they know all of their animals’ names, their stories about how they arrived there, and their individual behaviors. Our favorite person was Navi. She was so kind and shared lots of fascinating facts about each animal. If you ever take the tour, be sure to book it with her! I was really surprised, as I expected it to be more like a zoo. On the contrary, it truly blew my mind! The facilities for each animal are impressive, the place is exceptionally clean, and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. It's worth noting that all the animals you’ll find in Bucalco have been rescued, either from the city zoo or from owners who were unable to care for them properly.

I am really happy that I visited zoo today back on Saturday, April 22, 2017! It was highly recommended and it was also listed on the tourist map all the way from Neuquen Capital City of Argentina. This zoo is fairly new and has been open for the past seven (7) years. I also think that the selection of animals are very nice to see as you can see in the pictures that I have provided on Google. I also want to personally thank Andrea Soriano for providing me with a Fantastic Tour and for allowing me to feed Rosalie the Parrot. If you are ever in the area of Rio Negro, Argentina then please come and visit the Bubalco Zoo because it is well worth it. Sincerely yours, Howard Paul Shore... Complete animal abuse. It's really sad because so many small zoos like this still exist all over the world and are unregulated. In theory, some zoos could be beneficial if the animals were indeed rescued and/or there were conservation programs enacted but this is not one of those cases. When I visited, it was in the middle of winter (30°F) and of course all the animals have tiny shelters where they can sleep at night but they are very small and dark. Naturally, the animals need sunlight and outdoor time so they're outside shivering and if they're lucky to be with others, huddling to keep warm. The enclosures are small and have no stimulation or proper environmental foilage or anything. The birdcages were tiny and only had two branches for the birds to roost on. The monkeys looked extremely lonely, a chimpanzee and two other types by themselves when they are clearly social animals. Overall a very sad experience.

Excellent place for the whole family. Kids will love it! A lot of animals to see in a nice environment, just need to walk around or rent a golf kart. Have a restaurant where you can eat before to start the tour or take to go and a very nice picnic areas where the birds will come to eat with you!!!

I recommend it and would return more often in the spring to see everything green. It stretches alongside the serene Limay River, offering picturesque views, lush greenery, and charming pathways. While it's an ideal spot for leisurely walks and enjoying the tranquil surroundings, some visitors recommend visiting during summer when it's more accessible on foot. The area is also popular for activities like running and resting in its well-maintained surroundings.

Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann

Museum
Specialty Museums
Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann in Neuquen may be small, but it holds some remarkable exhibits. Visitors can marvel at dinosaur nests, replicas of local discoveries, and a fascinating ancient shark jaw that's a popular spot for photos. Despite its size, the museum never fails to impress its visitors with its dramatic displays. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have an interest in paleontology.
It is a small museum but worth the stop. It has great specimens and lots of information about the dinosaurs found in this area of Argentina. I recommend downloading the virtual dinosaur. So much fun. The little row of gift houses was great too. Go down the road in town along the lake to see the imprints in the rocks of where the dinosaurs walked!!

Parque Via Christi is a must-visit attraction in Junin, offering a unique and relaxing experience. Spending at least a full day here is recommended, especially on sunny days. The park features the impressive sculptures of Jesus and the beautiful Puente Banana, making it perfect for nature lovers and art enthusiasts alike. The strong Christian theme adds to its allure, creating a magical atmosphere that shouldn't be missed.
I recommend to visit Junin for 2 main attractions, this being one of them. No need to stay one night but you may need a full day, especially if sunny. At least 4 hrs at park jesus and 2 hrs at punte banana. From Neuquen or San Martin (250 pesos bus) is really worth it. The park was unique and very relaxing. The artist is very unique. The puente is lovely and beautiful pics to remember this small city. This park is daring because it can really trigger those Christian fanatics. The sculpture artist is daring and very thought provoking. It is amazing how a small town can turn an ordinary pine tree forest into a masterpiece. Price is 400 pesos. You get an amazing pine tree landscape, mountains views, free range horses wandering around, a 3 hr hike and art. All in one place for a great price.

Lanín

Mentioned on
2 lists
Volcano
Nature & Parks
Lanín is a striking stratovolcano located on the border of Chile and Argentina, boasting a conical shape and an ice-capped peak. The volcano is the centerpiece of Lanin National Park, offering stunning views that captivate travelers. While it has not erupted for thousands of years, occasional tremors keep its status active. For adventure seekers, climbing Lanín is possible but recommended only for experienced mountaineers or with professional guidance due to its steep inclines and snowy terrain.
Great place to visit. There are three routes to get to the very top, two of which are from Argentina (the south and north faces) and one from Chile. The north face is the most common route to use, whether for a one-day ascent (to get to the refuge camp and to go back) or a two-day ascent to get to the very top. Whichever one you chose, you won’t get disappointed. The route is not too challenging, but it is nevertheless tiring. It is recommended to get a good pair of hiking boots and sticks (if you don’t have them). If you are staying overnight in the camp, you will need a torch and a sleeping bag. Don’t forget to register with the national park if you are doing the ascent without a guide/tour.

Good weekend trip to explore Patagonia’s volcanoes: Excellent 2 day hike to get up Lanin. Day 1 we went up to the Refugio, slept there. On day 2 we started early and reached the Lanin peak. Hard work but you get fully rewarded - amazing and picturesque view from the peak. The hike to get up to the peak is technically not too difficult, no climbing equipment is needed though I would recommend to have crampons since the last bit is icy. 🌋🇦🇷

(Translated by Google) It's a shame to leave this review, since my family took classes. The instructors' human quality is excellent. The ski resort is incredible. It's a shame about the amount of snow, which is beyond belief. But I don't understand how they can have such poor organization in sales and rentals. They opened the season from one day to the next. Everyone crowded around to exchange tickets and others to buy them, lines two blocks long. Online sales only work with purchases made 72 hours in advance. Could this be expedited? We also rented equipment at the rental office at the base of the hill. Every day there's an endless line. People rush to get to their class or drop their child off at school. And what happens? We stopped taking care of ourselves... no masks 😷 everyone squeezed together to see if I could get in before someone else... they had the whole beginning of the year to get organized. It can't be the same line for the person measuring up and the person checking out... if we take care of ourselves, it should be a shared line... and the key part is organization! Don't worry, it could have been 5 stars! I hope they improve. We walked all the way from the information point near Hua Hum until the waterfall. It's a small walk in the woods, with a stop in a small shore with a beautiful sight of the Nuntuhe lake . The path signaling isn't great, but as long as you are aware of where are you going, it's hard to get lost. It's a beautiful walk with a slightly different vegetation from the rest of the lakes in the nearby. Be prepared, tho... It has some pretty agressive uphills. Nothing difficult, but it is tiresome if you are not in great shape. Once in the waterfall parking the path it's super easy to follow, and it has stopping points for resting and additional information. The waterfall itself is a show on it's own -- breathtaking.
