The well-maintained trails make it ideal for activities like jogging or leisurely strolls. The park features natural enclosures housing tapirs, wild cats, flamingos, macaws, hippos, crocodiles, snakes, foxes and wild dogs.
A great zoo! It has a spacious area to walk through and many animals from Brazil, with a few from other countries. The monkeys are fun to watch. That said, few of the enclosures were empty...
Gavin T — Google review
Nice zoo, there are a lot of different animals and many animals from brazil. The lion and tiger enclosures were not accessible when we visited. They have many birds ranging from exotic ducks to several types of aras. They also have a hippo, several types of crocodiles, snakes, foxes and wild dogs. There are a couple of enclosures currently empty.
F. N — Google review
I visited this place just to see capibaras. Unfortunately for me, I only saw one. I think it was a bad luck. Besides capibaras, the park takes care of some monkeys, aras, but also some animals that I as European don't know for my continent. So visiting the place was interesting for me. The park is huge and you can spend quite some time with roaming around. To see everything with slow pace, I would say that 2 hours are more than enough. But you can manage to see what you are interested in in about 1 hour, as I did. Entrance tickets to this place are surprisingly cheap, so I would encourage you to visit park and support it this way.

Perfect place for rest ,and place for children
Farid K — Google review
Very good zoo to spend a free day at. Admission was free and it had quite a large selection of animals to see. Decent playground the food vendors were well priced. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and so did the kids.
Steven H — Google review
The park is currently undergoing renovation and only half of the park is available now, but it is still a great place to walk, jog or just take a walk with the family.
Erik S — Google review
A good selection of animals that the whole family will enjoy. Make sure to watch the monkeys for a while! Unfortunately there are a few empty enclosures these days..

Parque Portugal - Lagoa do Taquaral

City park
Nature & Parks
Parque Portugal, also known as Lagoa do Taquaral, is a renowned city park that features a stunning lagoon and a variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy. The park boasts beautiful trees and flowers of all kinds and is home to families of geese, ducks, and capybaras.
The best park! It was a very hot day but the park is so greeny. I walked in a shade of those big trees, met couple of capybaras enjoying their weekend. The most iconic seems to be a big Protugese style boat at the north of the park.
Borworn B — Google review
Nice park. I liked how the streets were closed off for a running event. It was a nice run around the beautiful streets and lake. Plenty of vendors for some refreshments.
Dave H — Google review
Nice park. Lots of cool local flora and lots of cappybara running around. The little food stands are also nice. We got coconut water and some ice cream and both were delicious. The panda statues at the playground are pretty creepy though...
Brandon S — Google review
If you love capybaras, you can't find a better place to go. Dozens of these friendly rodents roam around the lake. They won't let you touch them or even feed them, but they will let you pretty close. I have a video about it on my YT channel: Curves on the road
Jana C — Google review
Better with family. This is an excellent spot for running, offering wide and varied trails with spots of shade at all times of day, the path was not paved in all places and so it may be muddy in the rain. There is a big ship to explore and beautiful plants. There were paddle boats but they had a cost to try. And some play equipment for kids. Depending on your disposition, this may not be the best place to go if you have limited time. There is not much that distinguishes it from any other large park in the world and it is not well maintained. It was hot and few places to buy water so come prepared.
Benjamin S — Google review
A nice (green) park, kinda small one but still nice, well kept, kids friendly, well located, overcrowded in weekends, parking may be troublesome.
Woody A — Google review
This is a very big park, with no entrance fee! I was impressed to see capybaras chilling everywhere. There is a Planetarium, but i advise to first check out the opening hours. There's a huge ship you can get on and several food stalls with delicious snacks.
Noelia C — Google review
Definitely my favorite park in Campinas! Amazing green scenery views, river, trees, capybaras everywhere. Delicious Açaí and ice cream are the bonus. Very clean and animal friendly park. There are many street cats but they love people and people take care of them too. One of my father in law's cats is from this park and he named her "Serena".

Finally I found something delicious and eatable for the foreigners! I’m very happy to visit such a beautiful mall with a lot of different options to eat! That was my favourite station and only the station with waffles 🧇! For some reason they didn’t accept international cards 💳 but we paid cash. It took around 20 min to get my order done but I enjoyed so much! 🤍🤍🤍

Very very good mall, one of the biggest in sao paulo state. Here you can find almost everything. There is a huge food court and a enormous parking yard. The atmosphere of this place is incredible, although very crowded on weekends and holidays.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums

We had so much fun! Practically had the place to ourselves. The animals were active. An amazing zoo!
M S — Google review
Amazing place to go with your family specially if you have kids, they will love it. The trails is quit long for small child's and they don't have accessibility, or if you go with a small kids you will have to carry them during some stages of the trail, but apart of it is an excellent place to visit. I recommend to arrive after lunch in hot days, you will need around 3 hours to do the course. It has a restaurant and cafeteria to eat.
Marcello C — Google review
Great place to bring children or for photographic safari if you like to make photos from wildlife under more controlled circumstances. Highly recommended!
Osvaldo C — Google review
Very good place. The enclosures can always be better in a Zoo, but they seem to treat the animals with respect and the place is very beautiful.
Luis M — Google review
Overall very nice place but I found some of the places where they keep the animals too small

What beautiful place to visit and spend some time enjoying the natural beauty and the rich traditional architecture the place provides you with. It makes you feel like never leaving the place and better yet, everything was free. Plus you leave with some awesome pics to post on your social media. I 100% recommend visiting this place at least once. Sadly, it was closed during my visit.
Maurício A — Google review
Such an interesting construction. You will have the chance to see how traditional mills work on the inside and, at the same time, have a great view of Holambra.
Thiago B — Google review
Cute place to visit. Such a unique feel and the architecture is very different than the other parts of Brazil we saw. The windmill spins on top and we were fortunate to see it happen. Quiet place to spend a couple of hours. I believe there are shops there that open but we came at a time they were closed.

The park around it is very pleasant. The windmill itself is beautiful, the staff working there very helpful and friendly. It is an interesting place to visit and learn a little more about this piece of engineering!

Cristo Redentor de Serra Negra

Mentioned on
4 lists
Transportation
Tramways
Cristo Redentor de Serra Negra offers a challenging climb with approximately 8 meters of uneven stairs, making it unsuitable for those with health issues. However, the breathtaking panoramic view of the town below from the top makes it worth the effort for most visitors. The location also provides wheelchair access from the car park to Christ and features a delightful chocolate shop nearby. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful and amazing experience while taking in the spectacular views at this iconic site.
Reaching the top is not for someone who is out of shape, it could even be a health risk for those with heart health issues. There is about 8meters of stairs to climb and the stairs are not so well made as some of them are low steps and some are hi steps, this can be a problem going back down too. When you reach the top, however, you will be rewarded with a beautiful picturesque view of the town in the valley below. In my opinion it's worth the effort if your health will allow it. I really really enjoyed it and it is a memory I will savor for years to come.

Shopping mall
Shopping
Vale Sul Shopping is the largest and most diverse shopping center in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. It offers a wide range of designer stores, boutiques, restaurants, and a cinema. The mall features various brand outlets and segments along with health facilities and a gas station. While it may not be the most budget-friendly for international visitors due to higher prices compared to the U.S., it's still an enjoyable place to explore without making big purchases.
Sorry, I didn't went there. Just used as reference to get the approximate distance until a friend's place near the shopping centre.

I am impressed by the online presence of this shoe repair shop, which effectively highlights its exceptional products and services via various social media platforms. The consistent and engaging content allows customers to stay updated and informed. It's refreshing to see a business utilizing technology to connect with its audience.

Nice shopping mall, with a bit of everything. Very big food plaza, with lots of options to choose from, the most famous places are in there. You can find a super market as well as a construction or home renovation store. You arcade gaming. They also have a cinema with lots of options of movie to pick. Lots of places to park your car and sometimes they'll have events happening at the car park.
Bruno S — Google review
It's very basic, it's a simple place full of low budget stores. The cinemas are great, but 99% of the movies shown are dubbed in Portuguese. The bowling alley is nice, great place to eat.
Luis C — Google review
Very organized shopping center with ample parking space. There is a good variety of quality products, a movie theater, and restaurants. The prices are typically more elevated but this is a general rule in shopping centers/malls in Brazil.
Nassim D — Google review
I'm a tourist from the U.S and one of my favorite things to do is to see the difference between malls in different countries. Let's just say Brazilian malls are one of my new favorites. I wasn't there to buy anything so I enjoyed just looking around, however, if you were going to buy something it's not very cheap. Example: a Maybelline mascara costs 80 Reais which, for an American, would be $20.00. I would economize, look around, and maybe buy something small, but don't go there for a shopping spree. The food court is great with several options, but, again, the prices and portions are wild for me as a foreigner. Overall, the mall is pretty and clean and I would come here again just to see the different stores.
Larissa M — Google review
A not so huge space. A congested environment during weekend. Just like other malls the ambience is the same and restaurants as usual are crowded. No English speaking guide and Walmart in it is the added advantage. Walmart is not so big as we normally see but a good place for a one stop shop
Ansari S — Google review
I only didn't give it a 5 star because of it's Pet Policy. Like in many other malls in Brazil pets are allowed in, but in this one you have to carry them on your lap. It is also forbidden to leave your pet at the entrance like many other places allow you to. So, if your pet is a lil fatty like mine, choose a different place to go to. Appart from that, very best mall in town.

Mirante Deck do Banhado

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
🌄🫂🌻🎭🎶
Daniel B — Google review
(Translated by Google) Excellent for admiring the horizon and the landscape in general. However, considering the profile of São José dos Campos, it should be revitalized, taking advantage of the slope of the land, expanding the tiny deck, and building an attached grandstand with the same wooden profile as the deck, offering comfort to those who appreciate this view. Since it would be a hidden location, it would be necessary to install a security camera, ensuring not only security but also order, preventing crime and undesirable behavior from inconvenient people. The City Hall could authorize the construction of a coffee shop/snack bar next to the deck, with public restrooms (paid), separate for men and women. The responsibility for cleaning and maintenance would be outsourced to a third party. Besides the revenue for the merchant, it would offer convenience to deck users who want to enjoy the landscape for longer.

We walked along Anchieta Avenue and I was enchanted by the bike path and the scooters that we could rent through an APP. There were a lot of military personnel there because of the event and the municipal guard did a great job too. The place is ideal for families and couples in love because it has a wonderful view and very chic bars and restaurants. Trilha da Pedra Redonda is a relatively easy hiking trail that starts at the end of Av. das Montanhas or can be reached from the Plato trail. It takes about an hour to complete and offers a tranquil experience through lush greenery. The trail leads to a 1990m rounded peak, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Hikers are advised to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, bring water, and apply sunscreen due to windy conditions on the rocks and intense sun exposure.

(Translated by Google) Without a doubt, the best trail in Monte Verde. The area is very well maintained by private initiative, with excellent upkeep, clear signage, security, and guidance before the start of the trail, making the entrance fee worthwhile. It's the most suitable option for families, especially older people and children, as the route is easy and accessible. The Platô trail, while very beautiful, is much steeper, more rugged, and longer, requiring physical preparation and extra attention. I recommend both, but each is suited to a different type of visitor and fitness level.

Such a beautiful place with kind-hearted staff! I’m not a local and didn’t know that they only accept cash and Pix, and since my card was international they couldn’t accept it. The girl selling tickets let me in for free and covered my parking as well. Such a simple yet kind act, it was genuinely the highlight of my day! The plants and gardens were beautiful, and I felt very peaceful afterwards. I would recommend this place to everyone!

This park was absolutely beautiful and worth the 40 Reis entrance fee. The gardens were all well-maintained. The views of the surrounding valleys were spectacular. It's an easy stroll through the park, and there's even a maze to navigate through. There are various plants to see and coy fish in the ponds. And there's a tree house you can visit. You only need 1-2 hours total to see everything. The employees were nice, but it may be difficult to find someone that speaks English.

Absolutely wonderful botanical gardens. The location is amazing, with plenty of beautiful scenery. From the treehouse to hedge maze, there is a lot to occupy half a day. Waterfalls
Ducha de Prata is a popular tourist spot in Campos do Jordao, featuring man-made waterfalls and showers accessible via wooden decks. The water supply comes directly from the natural waterfalls of Ribeirao de Perdizes. Visitors can stroll along the wooden bridges, listen to the soothing sounds of the waterfall, and explore nearby souvenir stalls offering various items such as clothing, chocolates, and crafts.
Another tourist attraction in Campos de Jordão and one of the best for sure. A small waterfall with walking areas and platforms designed to get the best picture possible. Lots of small shops and restaurants around as well as tourism buses departing and arriving here. On the low side there is lack of toilets, so if you have the urge, you need to use one of the tiny ones located within the restaurants around.

Standing at 1800 meters above sea level, this location offers an adrenaline-pumping experience with its elephant trunk-like curvature.

Overlooking Campos do jordoan, beautiful European style town right in brazil. You can take a "ski lift" type ride up or down to the overlook. Couple of little shops and food vendors so you can spend a little extra time enjoying the view. The photos are what so much of the home, hotels, shops and restaurants are like.
Bert A — Google review
It was OK but not that much of a thing to see you have to pay to get a good photo photo it was around 5reais The cable car is not working now so if you want to try the cable car you have to wait-a-bit more It's also not easy to park
Amy H — Google review
Beautiful view in a place that could get potential to be better. We climbed to the elephant's hill using the scared cable car, I believe its was created with the city and never modernized. My husband, who is Canadian, liked the experience more than I did. He was scared but he found excited at the same time. I think that because I have already been to Campos do Jordão several times, I think at this point the city, which seems to be very rich looking at the hotels in the area and people who frequent it, should have already renovated that a long time ago and have made something much better and more attractive, as the other countries that have mountains for Ski. I think don’t need to be exactly the same, but Mount Tremblant in Quebec also has a small area up hill and its not so fancy, but little more attractive and safe. Anyway, the view is very beautiful and we can see the whole city, mountains and part of the other surrounding regions. When we get up there again, the attractions could be much more elaborate and modernized giving opportunity to locals to get better jobs, show a nicer view and give to the city, locals and visitors a better structure. I think the place with elephants is a good idea, especially for children, but they could modernize it and charge a little for the entrance to maintain the place. They also could make a kind of a little mall where people could expose their crafts making their products more attractive and a nice cafe or restaurant with a lookout ... Anyway, use a little of the American style of exposing your business, which could be better for everybody. If I had money to invest, that unfortunately is not the case at the moment, I would probably organize people and get that changed for the benefit of all city and visitors. Grade: Eli = 3, Serge = 3 Recommend: It’s worth for the Mountain View.

The parish priest tried to prevent a large flock of faithful to pray the Holy Rosary in front of the church. This had been announced days in advance. Instead he purposely rang all of the church bells, to make so much noise that nobody could understand a word - it was a wonderful experience to pray the Holy Rosary under such circumstance, against the orders of the pastor! *Shame on this parish pastor!*

Parque Nacional do Itatiaia

Nature & Parks
Park
Itatiaia National Park, Brazil's first national park, boasts a diverse range of landscapes from dense rainforests to rugged peaks. The lower section offers accessible trails leading to waterfalls and natural swimming holes, while the remote high country provides excitement for serious hikers and climbers. Visitors can enjoy abundant flora and fauna including orchids, monkeys, and tropical birds. Accessing the upper portion may require a high-clearance vehicle due to challenging roads.
Wonderful national park at Itataia. It's possible to visit the park on foot, bike or by car. Visitors entering the park by car must pay an extra fee (around R$ 24,00) to take it's paved and non paved roads on a motored vehicle. The activities available at the park for visitors range from a beautiful cultural centre with many historical highlights, track trails in a rich forest terrain, magnificent waterfalls to admire and freshen up, numerous bird watching spots, and exuberant viewpoints of the Mantiqueira Mountain and it's wildlife. The difficulty of tracks may vary a lot. Upon entry on the park, visitors are given a detailed map, which shows what's possible to do whilst visiting the site. The park is basically divided into a lower and an upper part. The most demanding tracks, which are also those that one needs to plan in advance, are located in the upper part of park. In those areas, it's possible to camp on designated areas or stay for the night at one of the park's lodging houses (reservation in advance needed). In the park's website, there are lots of information for visitors, and high definition pdf maps for downloading, as well as a list of well trained guides on the park whenever the need arises. It's not possible to park in any spot by the road, the permitted parking areas will be sign posted. All around the park, it's possible to see restaurants, hotels and other private properties, which means there's no time available to do everything you'll find at the park. It's a highly recommended visit, and a place not to forget.

One of the best waterfalls in Carrancas, also one of the most famous, what makes the place be always busy, you have to be very lucky to get it empty. Best time to visit is at midway, because the sun will shine in the middle of the cliffs and direct in the water, and you will understand why the place is called Emerald.

Art Museums
Museu da Inconfidência is a long-standing museum housed in the former municipal headquarters and old jail of Ouro Preto, dating back to 1784-1854. It pays tribute to the victims of the failed Inconfidencia Mineira movement, which sought independence from Portugal in 1789. The museum features exhibits such as Tiradentes' tomb and manuscripts related to the revolt.
Worth going! Learnt a lot about the cultural and historical aspects of Ouro Preto!

Highly recommend. Compelling story-telling about early colonial and revolution history. Signs have English translations which are a bit archaic, and hard to understand, but give a basic story.

(Translated by Google) Tiradentes Square – Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais Tiradentes Square, the heart of Ouro Preto, is one of those places that blends architectural beauty with undeniable historical significance. Surrounded by colonial mansions, museums, and charming restaurants, it's the ideal starting point for exploring the city. But be careful: behind the hustle and bustle of tourists and selfies with the statue of Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, there's a story that deserves to be told more accurately than textbooks usually portray. History Beyond the Statue Many people believe that Tiradentes was executed there, in the square itself, but this is not true. In reality, he was hanged in Rio de Janeiro in 1792. What happened in Ouro Preto (then Vila Rica) was the public display of parts of his body as a form of intimidation against those who sympathized with the Minas Gerais Conspiracy. One of the places chosen for this "demonstration" was precisely this square, where his imposing statue, erected in the early 20th century, now stands. Another curious and little-known detail: the popular image of Tiradentes, with his long hair and thick beard, is more of a constructed symbol than an accurate portrait. At the time, political prisoners had their heads shaved as a form of humiliation and punishment. In other words, the current image was inspired more by the figure of Christ, to reinforce the "martyr" character of the inconfidente, than by any real record. Practical tips for your visit The square is surrounded by important tourist attractions, such as the Inconfidência Museum, the Science and Technology Museum of the School of Mines, and several shops selling crafts and local products. In terms of dining, there's no shortage of good options: restaurants, cafes, and bars in the surrounding area cater to everyone from those seeking a typical Minas Gerais lunch to those simply looking for a good coffee or craft beer. If you're arriving by car, be patient. Parking there is a near-epic task, especially on weekends and holidays. The best tip is to arrive early—very early. After 10 a.m., the spaces on the nearby streets are usually already occupied. Another option is to use the paid parking lots nearby or even park your car a little further away and walk. Conclusion Tiradentes Square isn't just a postcard—it's a place for reflection on Brazilian history, full of layers and contradictions. It blends the baroque charm of Ouro Preto with a turbulent past that still echoes in the cobblestones. It's worth sitting on a bench, watching the world go by, and letting history (and the smell of cheese bread wafting from the nearby eateries) do its work. Just don't forget comfortable shoes: the hills come right after.

Sanctuary Caraça is a serene 1774 church complex located in a nature reserve in Catas Altas. The area offers various leisure activities, including visiting churches and chapels, hiking trails with waterfalls, and exploring the sanctuary itself. Guests can enjoy complimentary meals served in the old monk's rooms while immersing themselves in the historical significance of the site. The tranquil grounds provide an opportunity to connect with nature and oneself, making it an ideal place for a peaceful retreat.
Truly a unique experience. What can I even say? Only spent a night here but everything was so great that I can't think of a single negative thing to say. The nature is amazing, the trails well-marked. The lodging is simple but charming. You get three wood fired meals a day which are all superb. The garden is gorgeous. The maned wolf showed up and it was surreal but did anyone mention the fricking capybara that lives right next to the place?? If you are in Minas Gerais for any reasonable amount of time, go here.

Beautiful monastery in the middle of the jungle. Not easy to get here without a car. Rooms are basic but some offer a great view. Might be worth asking at the reception if / when they are ready.
Maximilian S — Google review
Stayed 1 night here. It’s open to day visits but I wouldn’t bother with that, as wherever you set off from it must be a long drive in, and you don’t get to stay for a chance to see the maned wolves in the evening. Seeing the wolves is magical. Beautiful countryside location. Excellent trails for hikes up to 6km (12km out and back) without a guide, or further up onto the ridges with a guide. 3 good meals per day. Simple, clean rooms, in keeping with it being a religious sanctuary. Games room with a useable pool table. WiFi is decent in some parts of the premises. The church seemed quite nice to me; less garish than the others we saw in Minas, and this one has some nice stained glass windows. There’s a museum I didn’t go in. Highlights are the hiking, the nature, the food, and by a country mile: the wolves, which provide a truly incredible experience. We saw 1 wolf, a female, but apparently her mate visits too, sometimes. If you’d like a couple of tips, do read on. If not, now would be a good time to stop reading. 1-Bring some large bottles of water. There’s an empty fridge with most/all rooms. There’s a drinking fountain on site but the water is an unappetising yellow. Water is sold at a slight markup. 2-Do the Cruzeiro trail. It’s steep but short and finishes with an excellent view over the sanctuary. 3-Wolf watching: wolf down your own dinner then get outside and take the seat at the top of the steps. This should give you a chance to take some pictures of the wolf without other people in the background. It seems the wolf is quite likely to come when the food is first put out around 7:30pm. If you all get lucky and see the wolf nice and early, many tourists will go to bed and you can stay up and hope to see the wolf return when there are fewer people. I went back to the wolf area about 9:30pm and there were just 6 other people there. Unfortunately, 3 gents were standing at the top of the stairs having a loud conversation and blocking the wolf’s path. Another man was sat down coughing up a lung and periodically allowing loud bursts of noise to come from his phone. Rather than sit with buffoons, I decided to retire and come back after midnight, but I should’ve waited them out. Around 1am I was back out there alone and the guide came out and told me the wolf came back at 11:50pm, around half an hour after the chatty lads had gone to bed and the coughing man had died. I sat around until 1:30am but wasn’t lucky enough to get a private viewing. If I hadn’t had to drive the next day I might’ve sat up all night: it was a lovely temperature and no bother from insects. I’d consider 2 nights if I ever visited again. 4-If you can, visit on a weekday, when there will presumably be fewer tourists. I was there on a Wednesday and there were 30 of us, but I think the sanctuary has rooms for many more. Finally a tip for the sanctuary (I’m sure the staff will have read this far down): The guide needs to be out there with the tourists BEFORE the wolf comes! To say there were 30 of us, the behaviour wasn’t actually that bad, but still, tourists flouted the rules by standing at the top of the steps and talking too loud. When someone called out he could see the wolf, half the people started bouncing around, taking photos and talking in outdoor voices and scared the wolf off, while those following the basic rules (sit down and shut up) didn’t get to see a thing. Thankfully, the wolf came back when the guide came out with food, but if it hadn’t come back, someone would’ve got chinned. Probably the guy who let his phone alarm go off and sneezed wholesomely when the wolf was just plucking up the courage to climb the steps. Anyway, sanctuary folk, please, the guide needs to get out earlier and explain how to behave (even though written instructions are everywhere). It’s a brilliant place. So glad I got the chance to visit.

The reserve here is out of this world - extensive cerrado - trees and savannah, criss-crossed with rivers and waterfalls. Many short (up to about 6km) and longer trails with a guide. Incredible variety of landscapes, something different at every turn. All trails very well kept and signposted and easy to understand maps available. One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. A must visit place.

The location itself is fabulous and really beautiful! The nature around the monastery is pristine and there are lots of birds and mammals. The monastery itself looks amazing. The rooms are a bit cold (it was winter when we visited), but it was comfortable. The thing we were surprised and really unhappy with was the plastic single-use by the hotel. Everything (!!!) is wrapped in plastic... The blankets are wrapped in plastic, the soap are small plastic bottles.. at the restaurant you have to take plastic gloves before going to the buffet, the cutlery is wrapped in plastic, coffee cups, desert cups, desert spoons etc are all wrapped in (single-use) plastic. One of the biggest problems in the world is pollution of nature by plastic, and especially in Brazil there isn't any good recycling system. We would expect a hotel who ask prices like this (about 100 USD$ a night) and who have a religious background to care more about the creation of the Lord. There are lots of good alternatives for all of these. Alcohol gel for the hands should be enough when going to the buffet, also when grabbing cutlery. Glass cups and normal spoons for coffee and desert... Soap dispensers in the shower etc. Really hope they change this, because the amount of waste that is created in this place was the worst we have seen in any hotel in Brazil after 2 months of travelling!
Rob — Google review
Beautiful place, not very comfortable, nice staff. If you plan to see the wolf (lobo guara), keep in mind it will NOT come while there are too many people around! They put out the food at 19:30, but because the people were talking loudly, it appeared only around 23h, and very briefly. If you come during the weekend, don't waste your time before everyone goes to bed. Rest and come around midnight, or wake up really early (5am) for a better chance to see it. Also don't be an idiot, don't use camera flash and make any noise whatsoever! It really is a magnificent animal and worth waiting for!

Cachoeira do Tabuleiro

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Considered the highest waterfall in MG, with a drop of 273m, Cachoeira do Tabuleiro is located in the district of Tabuleiro. The access to this tourist attraction is well-structured and visitors are advised to tread carefully on the rocks during their climb. The view from the upper part offers stunning scenery, with several pools available for swimming and relaxation throughout the day.
Wow... Amazing place for adventurers. Tabuleiros is one of the highest brazilian waterfalls (> 300 m). Access is easier from Conceição do Mato Dentro and you can park your car inside the park without difficulties. There are 03 different places to visit: - Mirante - you will just see the waterfall and is less than 10 min walking from the main entrance - Bottom - Around 30 minutes walking from the main entrance. You can swing on small lakes - Above - Around 240 minutes walking Don't forget your watter and reserve one day to visit Tabuleiros waterfall. Be careful during rain seasons!

This waterfall is a gravity-defying spectacle. It's so tall, the water evaporates into a fine mist before it reaches the bottom, like a liquid ghost. The viewpoint, a leisurely 15-minute stroll, offers a truly breathtaking panorama. For the more adventurous, a 30-minute descent leads to refreshing swimming ponds, or a 3-4 hour hike will take you to the top. The hike itself is a decent workout, a 500-meter climb followed by a 300-meter descent, but nothing a moderately fit person can't handle. Just keep an eye out for the local creepy-crawlies. At the top, you'll find a series of inviting ponds perfect for a dip, cascading water flows for a natural massage, and deep pools for cliff jumping. If you're feeling particularly energetic, you can venture all the way to the edge, where the water begins its dramatic 250-meter plunge. The view from there is undeniably romantic, a vast expanse of rocky wilderness stretching into the horizon. Be prepared to hop across the river a few times to reach this hidden gem. Park rangers patrol the area, ensuring everyone's safety and enforcing the park's 5 PM closing time. They're also a reliable source of assistance if you happen to get lost or need help. The entrance fee is a mere 10 Brazilian reals, and seniors 60+ get in free. A word of caution: the top viewpoint is accessible by car from Tres Barras, but it requires a sturdy SUV or Jeep and involves a short but challenging 2 km drive across rocks and rivers. Not recommended for those with mobility issues.

A amazing waterfalls to visit for sure. Both top and bottom views are excellent. The view from top needs some walking inside the waterfalls and is worth the effort. We can sit next the waterfalls and see it’s magic. The bottom park gives the overall visualization of the waterfalls.

(Translated by Google) Tabuleiro Waterfall, where the Earth whispers grandeur and the water sings freedom Not every place makes you feel so small. Tabuleiro Waterfall does. There, in the heart of Conceição do Mato Dentro, the water plummets almost 300 meters as if the sky were crying with calm, strength, and faith. It's the largest in Minas Gerais, but its size is only a detail: what truly impresses is the silence it imposes on our hearts when we see it up close. The trail to the base is a moderate adventure, with rocks, roots, and shade. It takes about 3 km of steps and sighs—but once you get there, time slows down. The pool is clear, deep, and wild. The waterfall vibrates in the air like a constant thunderclap. And there you are, just another small being before the immensity. If you want a more relaxed breath, the viewpoint is also worth every second. In a 600-meter easy hike, the view will leave you speechless. Whether high or low, Tabuleiro touches the soul. (Original) Cachoeira do Tabuleiro onde a Terra sussurra grandeza e a água canta liberdade Nem todo lugar te faz sentir pequeno de um jeito tão bonito. A Cachoeira do Tabuleiro faz.
