The islands are worth the trip on a touristy boat with strangers. If you love birds, penguins, and sea lions it's worth the trip. If you don't love these you probably shouldn't go as there isn't anything else like a cool boat ride or whatever to make it worthwhile.

The reserve is beautiful. The process of purchasing tickets and boarding the boat for travel is confusing. Thankfully the tour guide was able to the information in both English and Spanish. Visitors should be prepared for about a 15 minute boat ride through open water which can be windy, wet and cold.

Absolute must see when in Paracas and should be on the Peru's must see lists. Beautiful views on every view point. Easily accessible on a day trip by bicycle, scooter or car. Just skip the Lagunillas restaurants, they are mostly tourists traps and you can eat much better food for the same price in Paracas.

La mina is such beautiful beach!! The water is light blue and clean. The water is cold but so worth it! They have a snack shop upstairs and bathrooms. Would definitely recommend this beach to anyone who wants to be around natures beauty and a friendly crowd

Beautiful beach against a huge rock wall that is located 30 kilometers from the Panamericana Sur within the Paracas National Reserve. Crowdy if you go during holidays, otherwise is peaceful and enjoyable. Beautiful azure water. if you don't have your own car you have to hire a tour. I recommend going by car so you can manage your own time and enjoy the trip at your own pace

Part of our tour - a pyramid/ "cathedral" shaped rock in the sea, near the coast. Unusual and beautiful. Views of the yellow sea- cliffs make for good photos too.

Lovely place. Other worldly in appearance in the desert. From the high places you can see both bays. Food in the fishing village is amazing... The sea tour from the Hacienda Hotel was well worth getting up early.

La cattedrale itself isn't very stunning in my opinion, but the view of the coastline is quite something. Rent a taxi and tell the driver to bring you to the scenic spots, it's quite cheap and you can move at your own pace. Expect to be done in 2-3 hours.

Lots of birds and interesting landscapes, worth a visit. We did a bus tour for 25 soles. There's restaurants that serve fresh fish but it's more expensive than the town. The red beach is interesting. Unfortunately you can't get close enough to the flamingos for s decent photo but I suppose it is a nature reserve.

I come here every year and I love it! They take you far into the dunes and the sand boarding is awesome. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Peru its is a MUST have on your list.

This was AMAZING. I scuba dive and skydive but the thrill and the rush of those rides are like no other. Love it.

Beautiful and large winery! Drive in was a little sketchy on a tiny dirt road, all of the sudden you get to a big gate for the winery complex. We took the 1 hour tour, would’ve loved to do the full tour but they said they don’t have any English speaking guide for that, which is unfortunate, they should’ve specified this on their website. The complex and tour was nice, however the tour guide wasn’t very passionate at all.

I visited Tacama Winery with my parents and we had a very pleasant experience. The wine tasting with their sommelier was excellent with a good variety of wines which were all very good. The sommelier was friendly and explained a lot about the different types of wines and the tasting process in general. The stay in their restaurant was great aswell, with good food and good service. Also the tour around the winery itself, the guide and another small tasting were very enjoyable experiences and I personally learned a lot about wine making, the assortments of grapes and the history of Tacama Winery. Overall the personal is very well organised, the place is beautiful and the service is excellent. Of course their wines are just as good. Thanks for the amazing time

I had the best red wine I’ve had in my life here- el gran tinto. The causas were literally *chefs kiss*. There are different types of tours, and the traditional takes you through the wine making process as well as 3 cups of wine and one of pisco.

Amazing experience! We celebrated the 30th birthday of one of us here during our stay in Perù. Not only the food was amazing, but the wine as well (both the White and Red wines were superb, comparable in taste and uniqueness to our Italians wines). We also received an unexpected present for the birthday! We would like to thank especially Raphael who was super expert in explaining all the different wines and food and made us appreciate 100% the lunch. We really would like to buy wines online to Italy from this winery.

Beautiful winery. The food was overly abundant and excellent. Ordering a bottle of wine with dinner came with custom explanation of aeration and decanting. The tour was insightful but wished the choice of wines for tasting ranged better across the dry to sweets.

It's a 7-hour drive from Lima to Nazca and even longer by bus. Nice views from the airplane to see the lines below, but pictures will not come out on phone camera. In other words, you have to be there to appreciate as you won't be able to share the details with others through pix. In addition to the flight fare, there are also local taxes you must pay.

We took a flight with AeroNazca and was very impressed. We got picked up from our hostel and dropped back after the flight. We were advised to take an early flight as the weather is generally worst/windy in the afternoon and this was good advice as the wind did indeed pick up in the afternoon..

Loved seeing this! We did not take the plane to get a view of all of the lines, however we felt that the view from the observation tower gave a fantastic idea and impression of the sheet size of the lines. Perfect!

First, i am impressed with how the lines were made. Next, do watch the video at the airport while you wait (and you will have to wait). Third, be very prepared for a bumpy ride. I do not get air or seasick but this made me feel a little queasy. If you have a UV and polarised filter for your camera lenses, do consider using them. Once the sun is high and strong enough, the pictures do not come out well.

To get the best experience you probably need a guide who can explain about the design and purpose etc. if you just visit this on your own without any prior knowledge you will not really take in much apart from a few semi restored walls as there are no written instructions to indicate what you are looking at. There are toilets nearby but no shade. You can't go inside the grounds for the most part.

The guide made this place interesting with all insights and stories. It’ll take probably 30 min on-site plus time to get there from Nazca. If you have some spare time, you’ll be happy to visit it and learn about Cahuachi!

The grandfather caretaker is a very humble, kind, old man. Spend some time talking to him. He is devoting the last years of his life to protecting this place. A wonderful powerful site in the middle of nowhere.

We didn’t have much information about the side but our host recommended it. We drove with our own car and had a bit of a difficulty because google maps wanted to take us a road that was closed but with a bypass we made it. It’s easier to take the second entrance when you come from Nazcas. It’s a bit longer but the road is better. The side is really impressive and will give you and additional view about the Nazcas culture.

The tour is quick, the history is fascinating, and if your itinerary has some breathing room, it’s worth a stop. Just don’t expect an Indiana Jones adventure—this one’s more of a casual nod to human ingenuity.

This place is amazing and needs to be saved. Already torn to pieces by graverobbers, who threw the mummified remains of the Nasca peoples into the desert. Some have been recreated but all grahe sites have been robbed of the pottery, jewlery, and other "valuables". This is a rare site where the mummies are kept on-site. Please go see this site and promote its protection and welfare. Be respectful and stay in the paths. Only 8 soles to get in and was one of our most memorable places we visited in Perú.

A Nazca cemetery. Great to see how this civilization used to bury their loved ones. Unfortunately all the graves have been looted so there's little left of the pottery and utensils

Remote desert area with around a dozen excavated, and sadly looted burial sites. Mummies are in various states of decay, but definitely worth checking out. There is even still some skin on one of them. Pots and bone fragments are in many of the graves. However, due to local corruption, none of the entrance money is used to preserve the mummies, with only an adobe wall to protect from the wind and a skimpy shade overhead. If nothing is done soon, these treasures will be lost forever and sadly no one in government seems to care.

Pretty interesting place. We went there a few days ago and it is suppose to closed during the pandemic, but you can still get there, park your car, walk around and see the graves. It's an open space in the middle of nowhere, no one was there, we found some trash inside of a few graves.

The canyon offers incredible multi-day hikes, often starting at Cabanaconde and descending into the canyon to oases like Sangalle, with turquoise pools, palm trees, and rustic lodges. The hike back up is steep and challenging, but the sense of accomplishment — and the views — make it unforgettable.

Fantastic high altitude lake near Arequipa. We did a tour that included stops to see the 3 big volcanoes surrounding the city, some cuddle time with alpacas and llamas, a stop on the lake bed for pictures and a 4900m geyser and hot spring dip. A great experience and so many alpacas, llamas and wild vicuñas

Joined with a tour company near Arms square, left hotel around 6 am and got here before 10 am. Amazing place to visit although had some altitude sickness, only me, no one else in the group. The guide helped with the flour water, poured to the palms and quickly smell it, works. We had an hour and half to be here. You can have kayak here as well. It has toilets and a few stalls selling stuff, didn't get the chance to have a look. 6 sol to enter.

Here is a message to the agencies looking after this reserve : pick up the litter and put in place some strict deterrents such as fines, to stop people littering.

Beautifull landscape, alpacas, fatastic views of the volcanos, there were stops for refreshments. Altitude varied from about 3000m upto a maximum height of 4910m at the look out view of the Sabayanca Volcano which was puffing out ash.

Incredible place! During the wet season you can spot the pink flamingoes on the Salinas lake, flying against the mountains. There are also vicuñas and llamas grazing by the lake. Depending on the water level you can also walk on great part of the lake perimeter, better to bring a 4x4 if you want to drive on it. The gravel road continues further from this point, but if you want to go behind the stunning Misti Wasi you better be driving a four wheel vehicle with decent ground clearance. Depending on recent rainfall you will probably need to cross a small river at some point. You will also need a permit obtained in Arequipa to use the road past the Aguada Blanca Power Station Gate or you'll need to turn back on your steps! This road is definitely worth it if you have the courage and the spirit for adventure!

An amazing citadel, so well preserved and maintained it's unreal. Sometimes I had to remind myself I was not inside a replica at some amusement park but in a real monastery that's full of history. Entrance is S/45, then for an extra S/10 you can get a one-hour guided tour. We did just that and had the amazing Diana all to ourselves. Otherwise you can scan the QR codes along the way and read the information for free. One of my best historical site visits ever!

Possibly the hughlight of my visit to Arequipa. I was blown away by the scale of the place, the stories shared on the info panels (in both EN and ES), and learning more about cloisters (who knew the sisters had spousal love for Jesus?) A must visit, just make sure you set aside a good amount of time if you wish to visit every open cell.

45 soles per person to enter. Although I found this to be quite pricey the Convent had plenty of information and we actually spent a few hours here as there was so much to learn about. You can pay 10 soles for a tour guide per person or download their app for free which explains each room. It really was fascinating and worth the visit here.

A very beautiful and very old monastery that gives you an interesting view of the life of the nuns. Many of the old cells seem like the nun living in it might rewritten any minute. The fruit garden was one of my favorite places in the vast, colorful and beautifully decorated edifice. There is free wifi and a guide you can download if you don't want to take a tour guide which you'd have to pay extra.

Go on Tuesday or Wednesday evening to see the ancient lamps and fireplaces lit. It’s open till 8:30pm Tuesday and Wednesday to give a better idea of what it was like to live there in centuries past. Beautiful and well conserved nunnery established in 1579 but most of the buildings are from the 1800s because earlier constructions didn’t withstand Arequipa’s earthquakes. I highly recommend hiring one of the guides at the entrance because they are very knowledgeable and there aren’t enough panels and plaques that explain all the history. Panels are all in Spanish and English but the guides speak many more languages. I heard guides speaking French, German & Italian. Part of the entrance fee supports the current nuns who live in part of the nunnery. There is a café & gift shop of things made by the nuns and purchases support them.

It's an expensive market. It's for tourists. Still affordable. Food is tasty, and it's a market so don't look for a fancy place to eat, it's a local market.

Its a place where we can experience local food at a fraction of the price compared to tourist restaurants. Very competitive on that matter because there's many Chileans also working there. You can compare it to a huge grocery store and bargain store all in one. Fruits and vegetables are very cheap and they bring them in large quantities, what's favorable to tourists looking for local fruits or veggies because they sell it buy the kilo. I myself got 5 mangoes for a dollar (3.80 soles) and broccoli for 50 cents (about a pound) - that's just a small example. Its not really a touristic place, its a local community commercial center. Still, great to find amazing bargains!

Loved it there. When all the ladies come to you to get you to eat at their cafe. Ask for Olga. She is the most friendly, kind and sweetest of them all. I'm the tired one in peach.

A traditional place, recently refurbished, with many different things, starting for small convenience stores, with local products, milk, chocolates and any sort of thing for cooking or cleaning. LOL. In the second floor you cand find a nice display of natural juice makers, who tempt you with fresh fruit slices for free like mangoes and melons. It is very cheap and juices are awesome because of the quality of the organic local fruits, tasty and aromatic. And for less than a dollar you can drink the WHOLE BLENDER. Yes, the whole blender. There's a hidden sublevel where you can buy alcohol and cigarrettes from all around the world for very good prices (JW black for $40 bottle) and also there's nice cheap place to get a manicure or pedicure with nail design for less than $3 dollars. In the surroundings you can find pirate buses to Arica, most of them, chilean. Good option to avoid crowded buses at the international station.

Morro de Arica is highly recommended for its panoramic views over the city, the port, and the vast ocean. The scenic overlook provides a unique vantage point that captures Arica’s urban and coastal beauty. The monumental Chilean flag atop the hill is a must-see. Measuring 18 meters wide and 26 meters long, and weighing over 80 kilograms, it’s one of the largest flags I’ve ever seen. While its size feels like a display of overly confidence and national pride, it’s impressive to watch the wind give life to this massive symbol. A great spot for photography and a memorable view.

Must to do, if you are in Arica, a great lookout of all the bay, and the city. Good place to see the sunset and how the city turn on the lights (I prefer the night view of the cities) also is a historical and important place for all people from Arica.

We were there with a cruise ship excursion so it was a quick visit. I wish we had more time to explore the exhibits. The museum has mummies from the historic people who lived along the coast. Their life was harsh, and they had a short life expectancy. This museum also demonstrated how the people from the highlands came and showed these people a better way of life through farming and animal husbandry.

The drownings are amazing It is easy to follow through. The outdoor space is beautiful for relaxing and seeing birds. And the Chinchorro building has a very nice view of the surrounding area.

AMAZING place to visit, must have of you are in Arica. Big thanks to the guardian man who showed us a video of a hummingbird feeding its babies right in the museum garden. Lots of ancient mummies, amazing territory, great views outside, exhibitions with very good preserved items of ancient tribes, more than you have ever seen in your life. And the ticket is very affordable, just 2000 pesos for adult. Highly recommend.

Little museum fifteen-twenty minutes away from Arica. Good collection of pre-Colombian art and mummies (some are over 3000 years old!), well organized and informative. You can see the all museum in about an hour. Highly recommended.

Do not miss this incredible museum, where you have the chance to learn about the culture and history of the ancestors of people from this region. Leave time to visit both museums, and consider seeing the mummies after you learn more about the lives they led. Plan on at least 60 to 90 minutes here.

Great replica museum of the Esmeralda with well structured exhibits and with option of guided tours or in my case with the audio English guide. I learned a great deal about the historic significance of the ship and its role in the naval wars that Chile was involved in. I definitely recommend this museum as it’s unique!

Fantastic replica of the ship and interesting museum with a very helpful and friendly staff. I stopped by around noon and, despite my limited Spanish, a worker there set me up with a self-guided audio tour (guided tours are only available in Spanish). This gave some interesting insight into one of Chile's important naval engagements during the War of the Pacific. I would definitely recommend a stop if you enjoy history! Afterwards, the fish market next door is also worth a visit.

Visited here on a friday. There was no bilingual guide, but you get the point of the history if you know basic spanish. You can also explore the boat without a guide.

Beautiful replica of a 19th century Chilean ship. The tour is in Spanish but they provide a book in English. Cost is 3500 CLP for foreigners. Definitely worth the experience.

Nice beach but the only problem is there is a lot of people selling food and drinks.

I would give it the five stars if it wasn't for the bird's poop that expell a disgusting smell. Despite that you can find places to eat, to sit, to play sports such beach tennis, beach soccer, beach volley and so on. There is a little zoo, the casino is also there and just across the street you can find some restaurants more settled. It's a swimmable beach so daily you'll see body swimmers, surfers, swimmers and such. Nice place to spend the morning or the evening. It's hot on sunny days so watch out.

Ghosttown has a long history of production and has been partially restored. Great place to walk around and to see the different buildings. I'm various buildings. Different theme museums are set up about different aspects of working and living in this ghost town at the time it was operational. Interesting old sulzer engines can be seen, old steam trains in a state of disrepair and old engines manufactured in Britain.

Words cannot express how absolutely fantastic this place is. As a Californian with an extensive history of visiting ghost towns in the United States, this UNESCO site is by far the best ghost town I have been too. It is remarkably well preserved, it has an unbelievably extensive collection of quotidian objects. Humberstone is the better site of the two if you have extra time as it is much larger and has a lot of variety. Commit to at least 2-3 hours of walking and make sure you go to the far end of the site by where the factories are, you'll find incredible machinery, trains, and artifacts. Note: the old saloon, plaza, church, and movie theater are a must visit. If you are right on time go to Santa L., it's just up the road had a lot of what you can see at Humberstone but is a lot more compact so you can do it all in 45 min. The main museum at this site also has original and beautiful ads produced by the companies and Chilean government to popularize its nitrate abroad, these posters are remarkable pieces of advertising history and early 1900's history.

Amazing open air museum. A lot is still intact and it is very cool to walk back into time while visiting Humberstone. You can easily spend 3/4h. There are some stores in the main square. We paid 6000 pesos, which we found more than reasonable.

Tickets are now 6000 CLP but totally worth it! One of the most amazing and impressive places I've been to over seven months spent in South America. Expect to spend at least three hours visiting this huge site and don't be surprised if you end up spending twice the time!

The Humberstone and Santa Laura ghost towns are a short drive up the escarpment from Iquique. They are a good way to see how life was when this was a thriving mining community and is somewhat frozen in time. Bring water and shade as it is a hot and dry area of Chile changing quite a bit from the climate in Iquique. Wear solid shoes as the buildings are in disrepair and broken glass and nails are scattered across the ground.

I thought it was gonna be a genuine ghost town. Which it is, but the fact that the exterior of every single house is branded with modern signs and plaques, and their interior renovated with most objects cleaned and arranged neatly on the walls, took away from the experience. It's basically like any other museum and thus not worth the trip. The layout of the town and the exterior of buildings is a fascinating sight tho and one to behold.

Bathrooms, lockers, shower, nothing fancy, but clean and functional. The level of the water is between 1,0 to 5,0 meters, depending the day of the week (every two Mondays it reaches 5,0) better if you avoid weekends and holidays when is crowded

Mondays and tuesdays level of water is raised. On these days the pool is limit dangerous due to submerged instalations. We were also (the first time) when water level was lower and it was excellent. Wednesday closed until 15h30 for cleaning.

It's a dirty pool in the middle of nowhere that is overcrowded and lacks the facilities for this to be a relaxing place. Calling it an oasis is simply false advertising.

Just wow. This was the highlight of the lakes in the region for us. Not only is it situated in a beautiful location, with incredible views of mountains and volcanoes that surround it, but it had hundreds of flamingos! And it was possible to get very close to the flamingos, who hung by the lakeshore and were not timid - excellent to observe them and for photos! Also, despite how busy other lakes were, we seemed to have the whole place to ourselves!

A saline lake in the Nor Lípez Province, Potosí Department in Bolivia. Various migratory species of pink and white flamingos can be found here. Time your visit right, though, and you'll see flocks of flamingos and other wallowing waterfowl.

One of your first stops if you are touring from San Pedro. What an amazing sight to witness. The beautiful Laguna Hedionda is opening sight once you enter Bolivia. A must see!

Truly amazing place to come to get a real close up look at the flamingos around. The smell by the water is pretty awful but that's the price you pay for it's beauty. Highly recommended.

Very impressive open copper mine with huge equipment all around. You can visit the mine on a well organised tour and are taken with a luxury tour bus inside the mine.

This is an isolated rock formation in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve of Sur Lípez Province, Bolivia. A popular social share, it projects out of the altiplano sand dunes of Siloli in the Potosí Department, about 18 kilometres north of Laguna Colorada.
