This church has history from decades, is made of volcanic rocks, so looks old. There are restaurants near, so eat and have time to look everything there is not a problem, hope you could enjoy your trip

Just wow. This was the highlight of the lakes in the region for us. Not only is it situated in a beautiful location, with incredible views of mountains and volcanoes that surround it, but it had hundreds of flamingos! And it was possible to get very close to the flamingos, who hung by the lakeshore and were not timid - excellent to observe them and for photos! Also, despite how busy other lakes were, we seemed to have the whole place to ourselves!

This is an isolated rock formation in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve of Sur Lípez Province, Bolivia. A popular social share, it projects out of the altiplano sand dunes of Siloli in the Potosí Department, about 18 kilometres north of Laguna Colorada.

The wind has created beautiful sculptures here, with the Arbol Piedra (the Rock Tree) as an absolute highlight. Roxana was an incredible tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about La Paz, being a native and about the rock formations and legend behind the creations of these formations. She guided us slowly and talked to us about Neil Armstrong and the moon ways of the land, how protected it is and what it's made of. Roxana was an amazing photographer as well. I really enjoyed my time doing this tour.

The valley is a very big and impressive site. The landscape is vast, dry, and full of unusual rock formations and colours. It really does feel like you are on another planet. We joined a tour, which was good but a bit limited. We only stopped at two places inside the valley itself before heading off to the main viewpoint for sunset. The views at sunset were fantastic, wide open skies, golden light over the mountains. It was definitely the highlight of the tour. If you are happy to drive yourself, there is a lot more to explore on your own. You can stop where you like, take your time, and see more of the smaller sights within the area. The site is large, and there are walking tracks and lookouts spread around. Overall, it is well worth a visit, whether on a tour or self-drive. The scenery is unique and very different. Just be aware that tours tend to move quickly, so if you prefer to explore at your own pace, driving yourself may be the better choice.

This is the best natural reserve/park I have ever been to. It is taken care of to an incredible level. At the start you get a personal explanation of the park and there are multiple small hikes that are all worth doing. In total we walked for about 2h and drove around as well. If possible I would recommend doing it in a rental car or by bike, since you can enjoy the place at your own pace and see everything you want. Definitely a must see in this region.

The views from the top of the sand dunes and the Kari Viewpoint are spectacular, offering panoramic vistas over the Atacama Desert and the distant Andes mountains. Walking the trails through the valley, I was amazed by the unique rock formations like the Amphitheater and Las Tres Marías, as well as the salt caves and canyons. The site is well-organized, with clear trails and friendly staff who help protect the fragile environment. There are basic facilities at the entrance, but I recommend bringing plenty of water, sun protection, and a camera to capture the ever-changing light and scenery. It’s easy to visit on your own by car or bike, but I joined a guided tour and learned a lot about the geology and history of the area. If you’re in San Pedro de Atacama, you absolutely can’t miss Valley of the Moon. It’s one of the most unique and beautiful places I’ve ever seen, and the sunset experience is truly magical. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for an adventure in Chile!

We self drove The Valley of the Moon and bought tickets online in advance the morning of our visit, it’s very close to San Pedro. This place really is like another planet, a landscape unlike any other. We were blown away by its beauty.

Awesome Place to explore by bycicle and on foot for yourself, but there are some things to consider: First, the entrance fee is 10.800 pesos per person (Nov '25) and you can only pay by card at the entrance station. Second, the last possible entry time is 11am, afterwards they close for private riders and i think guests without a tour in general. And third, the last possible exit time is 3pm. By that time you need to be back at the entrance station. Your ticket is also valid for a sunset point later though. I actually did it that way, because i was only informed about that last minute. It was doable, and a great experience for me, but i did it fast and it was not too hot on that day. I think, for most people, one or two hours more/earlier would be better. 😉 Oh, and bring water, you won't regret it. 😋

Very scenic especially in the golden early/late afternoon hours. the park has 2 separate entrances, at Valle de la Luna and one mirador de Kari/ piedra de Coyote by highway 23. The afternoon brings the beauty from the cliffside overlooks. Fyi you can buy affordable admission through PuntoTicket.com but make sure you receive the qr code for entry. I didn't get mine in my email and my account. I had help from the hostel I stayed in to get the qr code.

Worst experience in the region! No water or hot shower at the end of a trekking day is awful! The owner is completely absent, they have a huge problem with hot water in the showers and we had a complete day without water at all. They should rebuilt their basic infrastructure urgently! We made a complaint to the owner but got no answer so far.

Ancient houses and animal’s domestication corrals, thousand-year old cactus, and the most important the hot springs that you can delight for free, several pools, not crowded. The trail is about 25min to get to the largest pools and moderate difficulty. Solo big steps to go up and down will required to use your hands.

I loved this place! It's great fun to swim in such warm, clear pools and splash under the little waterfalls. The changing facilities are ok, and not too intrusive on the overall natural look of the place. The only downside is that I relied on a tour company to get me there, and they only picked me up at 2pm - so by the time we arrived we'd lost an hour of the 3 hours you can spend here.

Loved this place. We went with a guide so we had only 20 minutes to get inside the lagoon, so if you want to enjoy it more I definitely recommend going solo, without a guide. It’s not far from the city at all. The water is cold but I personally didn’t find it freezing like people told me it was. It’s so nice to just be floating there. Bring your towels with your if you’re planning to get in, they have a place where you can shower (no soap or anything, just water) you have a limit time in the shower as well, but it’s time enough to get the salt out of your skin. I recommend to slick your hair back or else it will be like a stone lol.

There are three lagoons, we walked around the first one and then floated in the second one. We didn’t make it to the third as we wanted to spend as much time in the water as possible. We were there in August for the 11am slot and it was chilly. Mornings are for independent travelers and afternoons for guided tours. There are changing areas and showers you can use afterwards, there is a 20 second limit for the shower due to water scarcity. We went back to our Airbnb to shower which seemed easier. You cannot wear sunscreen in the Laguna due to the environmental impact, this conflicts with information on their website when translated to English. This was a beautiful and calming experience, floating in the arid landscape of Atacama. Please don’t be put off by other reviewers. Local people are doing all they can to share the Laguna whilst limiting human impact. It’s a must see in Atacama.

The lake has been closed for human activities for a couple of years because it was degrading the environment. Now it is home of flamingos that can be watched from the border of the lake. Next to this lake there’s another one that still is open to swimming for max of 20min due to skin damage beyond this exposure. It’s really great to float on that salty lake.

This was my second time here after my first visit 6 years ago. It was annoying to get in as cars were filed in a long line, even people who had reservations. But the laguna was just as nice as I remembered. As someone who isn’t a strong swimmer, it was fun to float around

A beautiful and peaceful lagoon. It is possible to cycle here from San Pedro but it is quite tiring. It took me just under 2 hours to cycle here and maybe 2 hours 10 to get back to San Pedro. Entrance is 2000CHP and renting a bike for 6 hours is 3000CHP making it a far more budget friendly option if you are up for the ride compared to renting a car which is likely to cost around 45000CHP. Be warned that if you do cycle, some of the road is not the best and will ware you out.

It’s one of the rare places on Earth where you feel like a witness to something ancient and alive, where the planet's power isn’t hidden — it’s on full display. As part of the Uyuni circuit, it's not a long stop, but it's an essential one. The stark contrast between the peace of the salt flats and the raw violence of the geothermal earth adds depth to the journey — and reminds you just how wildly diverse and dramatic Bolivia truly is.

Located at more than 4850 m altitude, this field of geysers is fed by an underlying volcanic activity, due to the friction of the American plate with the South Pacific plate.

The place is a geothermal area that extends over 10 sq. klm in an altitude between 4,800m to 5,000m. The volcanic activity is significant, while the sulphur springs and mud lakes steam non stop. Bolivia made a geothermal energy plant in order to sell the stored energy to Chile, but the exploitation of the site is uneconomic.

Feel the force(and smell) of nature! At high altitude, it does get windy around the geysers but what an incredible sight to see it. Definitely worth the experience.

Fascinating museum. We arrived at 11:10 and waited approx 15 minutes to enter the museum, buying tickets on the door. Really insightful if you have limited prior knowledge of Inca history and culture. An incredible opportunity to see The Lightning Girl mummy, very harrowing. Limited English translations so we missed understanding some of the exhibits, but to be expected in an Argentinian museum. The museum is quite small and can easily be visited within 1.5h. I’d love a larger collection and more stories, but overall a worthwhile visit.

Great little museum. I was there for about an hr. There are some pretty interesting and intricate artifacts, but the highlight is definitely seeing the mummy and reading about the sacrifice. There are three mummies of which 1 is on display for 8 months at a time. You can see pictures/videos of the others however. There is also a 2nd mummy that was found in the 1920s (and lost on the black market until recently) that is also on display and looks like it’s from a horror movie. Great museum and a bit creepy. Especially with the eerie music playing.

The Amphitheatre is another nice presentation what nature can do. It's located just few hundred meters away from more popular Gargante del Diablo which we visited couple minutes before, so we stayed here less then there. Plus here were more people, so to be honest I liked Gargante more. If you are with younger kids then maybe this is better place for them to see stunning red rocks which were formed millions years ago in the past. Entrance is free...
