Old Cathedral of Cuenca

Sights & Landmarks
The Old Cathedral of Cuenca, also known as El Sagrario, is a historic Catholic temple dating back to the 16th century. Originally built in 1557, the same year the city was founded, it was later elevated to cathedral status in 1787. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing religious artwork. The cathedral holds significant historical importance, having been visited by the French Geodesic Mission in the 1700s for scientific exploration.
Great place to come and contemplate Cuenca's history and worship. There are some beautiful paintings and carvings, and most displays have English translations. You can also walk down into two crypts, now empty.

There were almost a dozen artists working on redoing paintings, columns, etc. A beautiful church in Cuenca worth the $1 entry.

Excellent place to explore and learn a out the Old cathedral. Walking inside was an experience that's worth the visit. You can also climb the stairs to the top of the observation level. Family friendly atmosphere with a wonderful view of the Park and El Centro. Definitely recommend while in Cuenca Ecuador.

I highly recommend the $3 tour inside the Old Cathedral. My tour guide presented fascinating information not only about the history of the cathedral but also interesting information about Cuenca. Through the admittance fee you’ll gain access to places most people wouldn’t think about. Enjoy walking up the spiral staircase to see the pipe organ up close or walk below to discover where many church members found their resting place starting back in the late 1500s. This church is often overlooked because of the newer and bigger cathedral across the street. But don’t miss this wonderful tour. And don’t forget to tip your tour guide.

On one side of the square, you'll find an older white cathedral from Spanish colonial times. It is said that many of the stones within the church's foundation were taken from the Cañari/Incan ruins nearby - before people realized they were destroying ancient history. The Antigua Cathedral is now a small museum, which costs a couple dollars to enter. They also host concerts, including free symphony concerts by the University. The colors in this church are simply spectacular. The restoration of the church was impeccable. The attention to detail is amzing

This is Church with public exhibits, be respectful when you enter. Besides the main temple, there are several small chapels with antique furniture and artwork. To the back of the main temple you will find liturgical artifacts such as a beautiful tabernacle with an engraved Pelikan, a symbol of Christ. If you go to the inner patio you will find an intersting collection of old photos and a gift shop.

Nature & Parks
State park
Calderon Park, located in the heart of Cuenca, is a small landscaped square surrounded by government buildings and two churches. The park features a monument to Abdon Calderon, a hero of the city's independence, as well as eight tall pines brought from Chile and planted by President Luis Cordero. Visitors can take a few minutes to rest and admire the city's majestic architecture while enjoying the shade of large trees.
Absolutely beautiful. A nice place to sit and enjoy the city of Cuenca. Make sure to cross the street to visit the church and admire its architecture. You can climb the stairs to the top terrace by the access door in the small walkway alley beside the church for a small amount $.

Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción, also known as the Cuenca Cathedral, is a remarkable landmark in Cuenca, Ecuador. This grand Catholic church was built over 80 years starting in 1886 and can accommodate more than 9,000 worshippers. With its stunning Romanesque-revival architecture featuring three blue and white domes, the cathedral stands out in the historic city center.
Wow, wow, wow! This cathedral makes other cathedrals pale in comparison. It's scale and grandeur totally blew me away. It's impressive both in the day and at night, although I'd recommend visiting in the day, as you can enter. And it opens at 7am, so there's really no excuse not to. It has distinctive blue stripes domes which are even painted blue inside too. The grand entrance, which remains closed until major events is jaw dropping. The front is relatively flat and basic, but beautiful nonetheless. But the real draw is when you enter. It's absolutely enormous and it's decorated so beautifully with incredible marble. It's also free to enter, unlike many similar places, but you are asked not to take photos and videos during services, out of respect. Likewise, you're asked to dress appropriately, so please, no flip flops and short shorts. There's also an interesting scale model of the building inside.
Hidden F — Google review
This Cathedral is definitely a feast for the eyes, both inside and out! There are plenty of paintings and carvings to admire, and you can walk up several floors to see the lovely view from the roof also. Definitely recommend a visit.

What an incredibly beautiful place just amazing to walk in and observe the detail and the Beautiful interior of this historic structure in the heart of Cuenca. You can go in there and just sit and look around for hours at the beauty and consume the spiritual presence of this Grand Cathedral. It kind of reminds you of Notre Dame an absolute must go to when you're in Cuenca.
S.T. R — Google review
This grand church has beautiful art everywhere. Then we took the stairs for the views on top, and they were impressive. We were surrounded by several points of interest we've visited during our vacation.
Dan P — Google review
This is a beautiful cathedral and apparently the largest in South America. It is the most iconic landmark in Cuenca and a great photo opportunity from inside and out. Having been to Cuenca multiple times, I have now photographed this place from multiple spots across the city. And for a small fee, you can climb to the top and get great views of the downtown area of Cuenca.
Brian S — Google review
This an absolute nice place is very big you have the chance to go to the rooftop of the church that’s how they called for that you have to pay $2,75
Cristian E — Google review
Big cathedral that was only open during mass. Many people attend mass of all ages. It was a holiday weekend, so there were hundreds of people. The nearby park and flower market 🌺🌹🌺 are a draw too. Vendors sell religious articles on the steps of the cathedral.
Peterson T — Google review
It’s the most recognizable structure of Cuenca, one of UNESCO-designated World Heritage Centers👏👏👏. This building is one of many architectural treasures of the city, but this one is not an old colonial structure. It’s a modern edifice constructed from the mid-1880s to mid-1960s. It’s a predominant Neo-Romanesque with Spanish Baroque influence, conceived by the German architect Johannes Baptista Stiehle who also built San Alfonso Basílica of Cuenca and the Buga Basilica in Colombia. The arches, both interior and exterior, are very Romanesque/Byzantine. The most notable feature are the Renaissance-designed blue/white domes made of tiles imported from the former Czechoslovakia. The building is mostly Ecuadorian marble 😎😎😎 but the floor marble apparently are Italian. The main entrance door has a dramatic arch entrance, the door itself is a very thick heavy metal (bronze?) and highly decorated. It leads to a high altar, with all the usual catholic idols. The altar is a theatrical Spanish Baroque design. 😎 It is made wood with highly carved and spiraling Solomonic columns. 😎 The canopy of the altar has been carved to resemble the canopy of the Peter’s Basilica of Vatican. 😎 The entire altar including the columns layered in gold. The side naves are exact replicas of the central nave. They have several altars, each dedicated to a catholic saint, one of whom was an Ecuadorian Hermano Miguel. The building is actually unfinished. *** The two side towers are less than half the original design. The “shortened” towers are the base of the original design. *** This was apparently due to a miscalculation😊, the base cannot support whatever would have been built on top of them. NOT TO MISS::: At the front end of the left nave, before the presbytery, + 😎😎😎 there’s an original wooden model of the design, which includes the architect’s original idea for the high towers that were not built. + On the wall is a memorial to the architect Johannes Baptista Stiehle.

Museo de las Madres Conceptas

The Museo de las Madres Conceptas is located in a restored monastery that has been home to nuns for over 400 years. The museum showcases an impressive collection of religious art, including paintings by Gaspar Sangurima and a carved wood and gold altarpiece by Manuel Machina. The displays are spread out across two stories of the large convent building, offering insight into the history and daily life of the Catholic nuns who lived within its walls.
Interesting place to see how the nuns lived, they have set it up very well with rooms of displays, including the bakery and nun's room quarters, as well as many spiritual artifacts. Definitely worth a visit!
Eileen W — Google review
This was an interesting place to visit even though I'm not Catholic. The building itself is beautiful and interesting. Some of the signs had information in English. I'm used to so many of the museums being free, so I was surprised it cost $3.50/adult and $1.50/child.
Katie M — Google review
The notion of “heritage” museum is not evident 🫤🫤🫤🫤. As a once residence of nuns, within in convent it is located, this “museum” is very poorly conceived. It does NOT really give a visitor the sense of what life was like in a cloistered compound. 🫤 Most of rooms are locked OR empty spaces. 🫤 For a “museum”, there are not real exhibits of things associated with a nunnery or whatever religious order those nuns belonged too. 🫤🫤🫤 The main exhibits are icons that look like plastic or resin, many of the icons and idols are like a child’s doll collection. 👍 The single most attractive exhibit is a sculpture or 3D artistic “modernized” and imagined rendition of the birth of Jesus; NOT a manger but a palace. On the lower part of this rendition are miniatures of European soldiers. Then below that are bizarre (and grotesque) miniatures of beheadings. 👍 In another room are exhibits of gigantic chests and a nice chair…. Another room is a recreation of a sick room or infirmary…. There’s also the kitchen, from what looks like the 1930s-1950s. Things like these would have been of interests. 👏👏👏 The interior courtyard gardens looked well maintained. The whole place needs to be re-imagined/// totally re-conceived.

I'm Catholic but i had never thought that this is a place for "only catholic" i recommend it to feel and see as a museum and as a view into the past. And get the feeling that you can get amazing skills without technology.

Museums
Pumapungo Museum and Archaeological Park in Cuenca offers a comprehensive exploration of the region's indigenous heritage. The museum features indoor exhibits showcasing archaeological artifacts, reconstructed indigenous dwellings, and ceremonial items that provide insight into the daily lives and customs of Cuenca's ancestral inhabitants.
A surprisingly good experience. The park and its ruins are small, but they have been recently trying to showcase the indigenous community and the Incan ruins pretty well. I was pleasantly surprised.
Evan K — Google review
A very nice museum with exhibits mainly covering the original people of Cuenca and history of the Inkas and the Spanish. There are also exhibits on the various native people through the country. The museum grounds are located on ancient ruins with a large park with nature, llamas and other exhibits. I highly recommend this interesting museum when in Cuenca.
JMQZ — Google review
I really like how they set up the inside, with several traditional huts or homes of the natives. Unfortunately there was only one section with good English translations, but I could translate with my phone. I was disappointed that the outside architectural ruins had no explanations. They should really put something there to make it more meaningful to us!
Eileen W — Google review
Nice museum with few exhibitions to customers. I was expecting to know more about ecuatorian history. It has a beautiful view of the city. It could be more attractive for tourists
Cecilia Q — Google review
We were greeted warmly and encouraged to sign in by sharing demographic information through an easy-to-follow kiosk. The museum is clearly interested in knowing which countries visitors represent and whether they belong to minority populations like LGBTQ. A thoughtful touch. Oddly, though, they didn’t seem equally interested in receiving feedback from visitors. I would’ve happily taken time at a kiosk to share everything I appreciated—and there’s quite a lot to like—along with suggestions for improving the visitor experience. The museum features both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. Among the permanent exhibits are: Sala Nacional de Etnografía Sala de Arqueología: Pumapunku, Mundos de la Memoria Current temporary exhibits included: Ritualidades y Espiritualidades Textiles del Ecuador Hacienda Azuaya y Crianza The ethnography room made a point of stating that curators consulted with Indigenous communities to ensure respectful, culturally accurate presentations. However, I didn’t see much that distinguished it from typical ethnographic displays elsewhere. Two things in particular stood out as problematic: 1. Most artifacts lacked specific labeling. Instead of detailed descriptions, we were given vague summaries. 2. The human models—particularly those representing African-Ecuadorians and Indigenous people—were jarringly unnatural and grotesque. It felt like a missed opportunity to offer dignity through thoughtful representation. One of the strongest parts of the museum was the exhibit on the history of Cuenca and its surrounding regions, tracing human habitation back to 9000 BCE. The timeline was well done—clear and detailed—and included bold claims I hadn’t encountered before. For example, it suggested that maize was first hybridized in the Ecuadorian Andes around 9000 BCE. I’d always understood the origins of corn to be in what is now Mexico, so this caught my attention. Similarly strong claims were made about chocolate. The museum seems to be involved in original research, but it was difficult to tell what was well-substantiated and what was speculative. Another fascinating, if unsettling, area featured a collection of nearly 10 shrunken heads. The explanatory panels made an effort to place these artifacts in their cultural and spiritual context—ritual practices tied to restoring balance in a community. The final text noted that the practice is now banned in Ecuador. While many visitors were fascinated by the detailed preservation of the heads, I found it deeply unsettling. Several people wondered aloud, “How did they shrink the heads?” If you’re curious about that, you’ll need to ask Google or ChatGPT. By contrast, the temporary exhibits were excellent—well-curated, rich in detail, and socially relevant. Displays addressed issues like legal and illegal adoption, gender-based violence, and addiction. These exhibitions did more than inform; they invited reflection and response. And then there are the outdoor spaces. Stunning. A breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. You’ll find beautifully kept gardens, paths that weave past archaeological remains, and views of Inca terraces towering above the landscape. There’s also a remarkable collection of live birds, many of them rescues. Parrots, raptors, and other native species are housed in spacious, thoughtful enclosures, offering an intimate and often moving experience of Ecuador’s biodiversity. These grounds alone are worth the visit. In short: Museo Pumapungo is a fascinating mix of the excellent and the uneven. With more detailed labeling, improved representations in the ethnography section, and ways for visitors to share feedback, it could become a truly world-class museum. Still, I’m very glad we went.

Museums
The Museum of Aboriginal Cultures in Ecuador is a treasure trove of history, boasting nearly 5,000 pieces that span over 10,000 years. From the Paleoindian period to the Inca epoch, this museum showcases the rich heritage of Ecuador's indigenous peoples. Visitors can marvel at funerary urns from La Tolita and ornaments from the Canari culture. The museum also offers replicas of exhibited pieces and books about aboriginal cultures for purchase.
Exceptionally good museum! Every "room" has their own topic and descriptions, both in the handbook (that's available in 4 languages) and in the rooms as well. There are a few interactive stations such as rolling the stamps in sand to see their print. The shop is big and has beautiful jewelry and a lot of statues from the exhibition are available for sale (as a replica!). There is also a cafe with amazing plants. Unfortunately on Saturday they didn't have coffee, but only cold drinks. Anyways it was really nice to relax there for a while. 10/10 recommend!

Quaint, yet had a sizable collection of artifacts. Some information was in English but the majority of it was in spanish. I sadly couldn’t appreciate it since I didn’t understand the history behind things. I was the only patron when I visited and felt welcomed, the cashier led me upstairs and played a quick melody using the ancient musical instruments. The price is $4 cash only
Joss — Google review
Very informative and nice museum with a wide range of pre Colombian artefacts. For us one of the surprising highlights of our visit to Cuenca. Explanation guide and signs in Spanish and English. Friendly staff, good coffee and a beautiful and reasonably priced museumshop.

Decidedly a hidden gem. Stunning Incan and pre-Incan artefacts, most extremely well-preserved. I was not expecting such an extensive and high quality collection. Some signage in English, but it could be more informative.
Jonathan K — Google review
This private museum has quite a large collection of artifacts on display. It’s well laid out in an order that shows the progression of improved craftsmanship over time. Crazy that this is all a private collection, as it’s bigger than many museums I’ve visited. I had to asked the attendants for my change, which they seemed annoyed at me for.

The Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno, housed in the historic House of Temperance building, offers a diverse collection of over three hundred modern artworks by Ecuadorean and Venezuelan artists. The museum showcases paintings by Ordonez Luis Crespo and Manuel Rendon Seminario, as well as sculptures by Jesus Soto. Visitors can explore various art forms such as drawings, engravings, lithography, photographs, sculptures, and more.
This was unexpectedly special visit. The building itself is rich with history and stories. The art is local and very relevant to today with meaningful subjects. It is not overdone with artwork so you can appreciate the quality of what you experience. Also not crowded!

It's a beautiful museum with lots of paintings and other works of art, mostly Ecuadorian. The building and gardens are beautiful and you can chill on the grass. I spent around 40 minutes there. The admission is free, and they have lockers to put your backpack or valuables.

Quaint little local art museum. The building itself and the gardens are definitely worth it. The was a large temporary exhibition about local recycling - interesting yet not my taste - as well as other artists residencies that caught my eye. Definitely an area to go see if you’re in Cuenca.
Sébastien A — Google review
Small museum with limited displays. I guess they change out the artist now and then. A lot of pictures of shoes, fire hydrants and water faucets. I guess that's modern art. I would not have regretted not seeing it.

Interesting building that houses interesting modern art from local artists. Formally a prison, the art is spread out in many rooms, that were formally prison cells. It has a nice sculpture garden to sit in. And is located next to a surprisingly nice plaza, with a variety of stores and restaurants.

We would rate these ruins higher if it were actually possible to enter them and walk around. Interesting combo of Cañari to Spanish colonial ruins. Love the Incan walls. Love the Cañaris wall. Decent view from street but would be better if we could walk through the locked gate.

Cultural center
Prohibido Centro Cultural in Cuenca is a hub for alternative and contemporary culture, offering unconventional and avant-garde exhibitions that challenge traditional norms. The center showcases various art forms, including music, theater, painting, sculpture, and video art. Visitors can expect to encounter thought-provoking pieces with taboo themes that are both unique and intriguing. The venue also hosts live performances and film screenings, making it a vibrant space for independent artists and countercultural expressions.
A little eccentric and peculiar, I really liked the artistic work of Eduardo Moscoso. An excellent place to enjoy a walk through the beautiful city of Cuenca, it is allowed to take pictures and you can even get a tattoo 😃
Maya Y — Google review
Best bar to drink, relax, summon the devil and even study! Love this place since I am a teen. Oh and their salchipapas are to die for!
Bryant A — Google review
Forget everything you know about museums — Prohibido Centro Cultural in Cuenca is something else entirely. Step inside and you’re not in a gallery… you’re in another dimension. Dark corridors twist past sculptures made of bones and glass, paintings that seem to stare back at you, and relics that feel like they’ve been pulled from forgotten dreams (or nightmares). Every corner is a little rebellion against ‘polite’ art — raw, unapologetic, and beautifully unsettling. It’s the kind of place that makes you ask questions you didn’t even know you had. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s a hidden door, a shadowed staircase, or an object that changes the way you see the rest of your day. Not for the faint of heart… but unforgettable for anyone brave enough to walk in
Luis L — Google review
A museum not for the faint of hearts! But so much creativity and imagination will leave you … spooked! And maybe if you’re lucky enough you will get Laeticia, the charming French guide, to tour you through the phantasmagoric maze of the museum 😈

Certainly NOT your typical "museum!" If you are into finding those unique, Atlas Obscura kind of places, go here. Loads of cool creations- some strange, some beautiful, and some kind of haunting. They also host music and artistic events. Support the counterculture and independent artists!

Beautiful place to stop and admire the view, also nearby are stairs leading up to another viewpoint. I was surprised, I got a little breathless! That is due to the elevation that everyone warned me about! My guide took me a few km away to do hiking in a less busy spot, and there was no one else on the path. That is the value of a guide!
Eileen W — Google review
A true highlight, literally and figuratively! At the dizzying height of 4166 meters, the Mirador Tres Cruses is located right on the continental divide (all rain falling west of Tres Cruses ends in the Atlantic Ocean, and east in the Pacific). On this hillside next to the road you have a magnificent view of the northern part of the Parque Nacional Cajas, one of the most beautiful wildernesses in Ecuador. Are you on your way to / from Cuenca? Then be sure to make a stop at this marvelous viewpoint.

Parque Nacional Cajas

National park
Nature & Parks
Cajas National Park is a nature lover's paradise, boasting over 230 lagoons including Lagartococha, Osohuaycu, Quinoascocha, La Toreadora, Sunincocha and Tinguishcocha. Visitors can engage in various activities such as horseback riding, camping and sport fishing. The park offers ample parking for those arriving by car and clean facilities at the entrance.
This is one of the most beautiful National Parks anywhere, let alone Ecuador. The altitude is very high, so you should be somewhat acclimated before hiking much. There's also a need to layer clothing since it can be warm at time and cold and radiation other times. But each bend you round reveals another incredibly beautiful vista.
Brian S — Google review
This is a fantastic national park, one can never miss it when travel to Cuenca. Not too long trip, about 45mins drive to the high mountain side. There's a long trail to go around, beautiful lagoon, clouds, enjoy every step move forward. Get used to the acclimated location, move slowly if you just arrive in Ecuador for 1-2 days.
Jenny T — Google review
Such a beautiful place it is so nice to walk around look around and listen to the quietness and enjoy the views. Such an incredible nice place we went on a pretty day but it was a little windy and slightly cold which complimented the experience. You should definitely go here look around there's so much to see and do here just amazing.

Great park with several hiking trails to explore. If you want to trek for multiple days it is possible. The entrance is free, you only need to register your name and how many days you are planning to spend in the park. Hiking on the routes 1 and 2 was a good choice. They don't recommend staying in the park after 4:30, the last bus to Cuenca departs a bit before 5pm.

Everything is beautiful expect for the restrooms and the poor feeding they give to their dogs. There’s one in specific that’s in the bones already. This day we did the hike to the second waterfall, we had no idea these two dogs would became our guides. They were close by all the time, I had to stop every five minutes to rest and the big dog would come back and give support and comfort. They wait for you, they take care of you, they deserve so much more. So please feed them if you can, but don’t give them bones please.
Tifany P — Google review
An absolute must do while visiting Cuenca. It’s beautiful, the hiking is tough because of the altitude but absolutely worth every step!
Rebecca G — Google review
Revisited recently, still as beautiful! ____ Wow! The falls should be on the 'must see' list for every visitor and resident alike! The falls can be seen from afar, and once you enter and pay the fee ($2 or $3), it's a relatively easy climb up to the base of the falls. The views can't be beat, and there is supposedly a secondary trail leading up higher, but I wasn't that adventurous that day. It is an incredible experience, not to be missed.
La P — Google review
Gorgeous waterfall! Absolutely amazing. There are many cute little spots to take pictures. They were not active while we visited, but there are also ziplines and a swing that takes you over the pool that the waterfall goes into. This place is not visited very often and so we had it mostly to ourselves, save maybe 6 other people. The pathway to get to the waterfall is well marked and relatively short, maybe 1/4 mile. It is steep and very slippery so be very careful.
Hayden G — Google review
Giron waterfall is a pretty short climb up stairs anyone can do, but if you're up for it physically you should NOT pass on the second waterfall - La Segunda Cascada, it's about 1-2 hours of pretty rapid climb or more if you want to take your time, and some parts are quite steep but well worth the way there, both the waterfall and the view.
Emanuell H — Google review
Beautiful water falls it is a steep hike but not very long. Make sure after you stop at the bottom of the falls and get pics keep going up the trail a short distance to get a better view from above. The swing is also free to try if you are adventurous. The local restaurant the last house on the left was very "local" and plain but was good and no one got sick from it.
Scott M — Google review
Gorgeous waterfalls. Worth the long hike . The view from every angle was amazing! You could .look d save so mb e time if you catch a ride from the highway, but my husband and I love to walk so we trek up to the entrance. The first waterfall is a short hike up for 2$ .Then we head down and start Cascada || .That was an hour and 1/2 up to the waterfalls. The trail is well marked. You cant get lost!.

Another beautiful place to visit in Ecuador! It is cloudy here frequently, so try to get there early. It is so peaceful and calm. :)
Wayne P — Google review
This place provides campsites for tents as well as a couple of cabins that you can rent for very very cheap. We did not camp, and only came here to visit for about an hour and a half. There is not much to see aside from the pond and the mountains that surround it. There were hardly any people there when we visited. We ate at a restaurant that sits right on the water, and while the food was decent and the views were okay, I would not return to this place.

It's quiet and interesting, i could go around the lake in 40 minutes. There's a restaurant, public toilets and few cottages for rent, definitely coming back soon.
Martha P — Google review
Update, returned to this lake on a weekend. Although some things were in use like the swan boats, the zipline across the lake was still not in service. Considering that I can visit Laguna Llaviucu, closer to Cuenca, for free, I don't think I'll return to Laguna Busa to pay for the privilege of walking around the lake. --- I give this experience based on a visit during the week, when all features like the zipline across the lake were unavailable. A real shame, because I wanted to try that out. It's a pretty lake, with a trail around it. I don't think the price ($2 or $3) was worth the trail walk. But overall it was nice and perhaps in the future I will visit on a weekend when the zipline is available to use.

Amazing place ! If you are looking for amazing food, green nature and great hosts this is the place to visit. Every dish is cooked with the vegetables and fruits they produce in a perfect harmony with the nature. During your visit you will be able to walk around the farm and understand more about the plants that grow there while you listen plenty of birds singing around. I love the visit and Tanya is a great chef and host !

We stayed in a beautiful bungalow and had 4 fantastic nights. They offer breakfast lunch and dinner which are all made from their own produce and is vegetarian. You can also buy a tour of the premises which is very interesting. The owners both speak English and Spanish. All in all a fantastic stay much recommended.

My partner and I had a wonderful time on this lovely family owned farm! We are inspired by Tanya and Jorge and the big dreams they have for the beautiful ecosystem around them. Come visit and learn more about their initiatives in sustainability and have some fresh fruits! If you love food, definitely come visit!

An incredible place to visit and learn about sustainable and organic farm/ agriculture around this zone. There are few organic farms in this zone so it would be incredible to make a space to visit this place and try the products that they make specially deshidrated fruits as mango or pitahaya. The owners are very special persons and they make you feel comfortable to show their farm.

We enjoyed everything so much here! We did the tours, but also spent 3 weeks teaching english to the kids at Happy Fruit English school. Tanya has such a creative spirit in her cooking, and makes really delicious, healthy food. The vegetal meats are really yummy. This is a great family Finca, with so many kinds of amazing fruits! FYI: on the tours you can eat as many fruits as you'd like, so don't be afraid to ask for more!

(Translated by Google) TOURISM and Marine Gastronomy: The visit to this island is part of the Mangrove Tour in Puerto Pizzarro, there are some open-air restaurants and some water activities and some crafts are offered. It is an island without much attraction, at least in JUNE it did not have those inflatable games or jet skis, but we arrived at a point where they have these food huts, it is called Caracolito and in an exquisite hammock to have lunch, with an unbeatable view, they I recommend the prawn ceviche for s/30, very very good. When you visit the mangroves it is a mandatory stop for lunch. The distinctive feature of this place is that it is between the river and the beach, you have to see it yourself, the beauty there is indescribable. It is an unforgettable experience where you can not only enjoy the view, the flora and fauna; You will be able to appreciate how the sea meets fresh water. It is also an island that has different types of family attractions. Very good flavor, I don't recommend eating many things without cooking, especially due to the lack of drinking water, but that sea bass ceviche and the one with black shells, holy cow!!!! Be careful with the Hygiene of Sellers: I returned to the island after 4 years and with a shame I must say that it has gotten worse, dirty, with unhealthy restaurants. There really is little support from the authorities in wanting to promote this tourist destination, it has a lot of potential but unfortunately it is not developed and ends up scaring away tourists. I recommend not eating since it is not a guarantee. They carry out an inspection on the Hueso de Ballena Island in Puerto Pizarro: The municipality of Tumbes carried out an inspection on Isla Hueso de Ballena, in Puerto Pizarro due to the inadequate disposal of solid waste and wastewater, which generates environmental pollution, putting the health of tourists at risk. The intervention in the different restaurants on the island was carried out on Friday morning by the staff of the municipality of Tumbes, through the Annual Environmental Inspection Plan (Planefa). During the inspection, five septic tanks were identified within 50 meters of the beach, which dump wastewater without any treatment into the mangrove, causing great damage to the marine ecosystem. Cost: Mangroves and Whale Bone Island Tour: Tumbes: a day between beaches, mangroves and hot springs Published on February 28, 2010 One of the excursions that we had been recommended to take from Máncora is the one that takes you to see the province of Tumbes and its mangroves. It should be noted that there are several tourism companies that sell it and the price ranges between 50 and 70 soles. The tour starts at 8:00 in the morning and ends at approximately 7:00 p.m.

(Translated by Google) The San Lucas de Colan Church, Located at the entrance to the spa 17 kilometers from Paita, built on a shrine from the Chimú period. It is considered the first Christian Temple erected on the coasts of the South Pacific by the Spanish evangelizers and as one of the oldest churches, established in Peru during the 16th century in the Baroque style. In the year 1877, Don Manúel Gomez Jaines, assures that after the founding of Piura the Dominicans arrived from Nicaragua; Fralecto Astorga and Bonifacio Escoquis, who in 1536 began the construction of the church, the Tallan ethnic group of the Colàn participated in its construction, according to Gomez Jaines, it was built from limestone, facing the plaza, ornamented with golden altars. It has a main door, the façade has four turned wooden columns, two on each side of said door, these columns support a cornice that has a pyramidal shape. Its main altarpiece stands out with the noble shield, sculpted on the door of the tabernacle: (Carving of an eagle) which according to heraldry is the queen of birds and is a connotation of the reign, an excellent piece that is often found on noble shields. . Due to the aforementioned characteristics, it is similar to the noble coat of arms of the Habsburg family dynasty that ruled Spain between 1514 to 1700. The detail detected on the tabernacle door deserves special attention due to the information it can provide regarding the antiquity of the church. since it suggests that it was built to highlight the memory of the kings of Spain ruled by the Habsburg dynasty between the 16th and 18th centuries. It has a bell that dates back to 1908, however, according to documentation consulted, in 1830 Don Francisco Helguero gave a bell for the tower and a bell for the service. The church has a rich movable artistic heritage, made up of altarpieces, imagery of visible carvings, clothing carvings, candlestick carvings, articulated carvings, canvas and panel pictorial works, liturgical objects such as monstrances, glass bells, candelabras, furniture, etc. It was restored between the years (1987 - 2000) by the National Institute of Culture, with the support of the German government embassy, Foncodes, Luciano Castillo Sub-Region and the University of Piura.
