We arrived at the time a function was going to happen... Too bad we couldn't go inside and enjoy the beauty of this theater. YES, a little girl practice her ballet 🩰 so, was very refreshing to wacht it.

Even though I didn't go in, the construction itself is amazing, it is a building in the middle of the water. Stunning.
Nadine A — Google review
A marvelous theater in a small city of Frutillar, located near the lake. It's a cultural center for the local people and serves as a stage for famous celebrities. Well know for the acoustics and art. They have a gallery of all the famous people who have performed there. I personally loved having the tour of this place and we even got to watch someone sing and feel the feeling of being in an opera. It has a awesome view of the Lake and the Osorno volcano.
Anita V — Google review
Highly recommend to contact them in advance to see tour availability, they seem to have a lot of events and not many days for tours, but you can get lovely pictures outside and maybe get something at their store. The bakery in the corner is amazing!
Marcela A — Google review
The theatre of the lake is a piece of work where you can find a wide variety of lovely things... not only the shows that you can see but the sightseeing... the stores, the people and the environment around... full of old stylish houses mixed with the new ones... it's a must if you are visiting the south of Chile.... Special. On the beautiful shore of Frutillar.
Gad T — Google review
Beautiful infrastructure by the lake. The service during off season is lacking if you come from further away and do not make it in time for the guided tour at noon, there is only one tour per day. The older lady at the front counter is not very warm to answer questions and is a bit rude. The Italian restaurant next door is simply amazing and the customer service there is great. Overall a good experience.
Claudia G — Google review
Beautiful theatre in a splendid location. Saw the Nutcracker here over Christmas and it was a brilliant arrangement with both local dancers and actors as well as invited ballet artists. Acoustics were great and stage modern. Couldn't beat the setting leaving the theatre at sunset.

Lake Llanquihue, the second largest lake in Chile, is a picturesque destination featuring stunning views of the iconic Osorno volcano. The surrounding area was settled by German colonists in the 19th century, giving it distinctive customs, architecture, and gastronomy. Visitors can explore quaint towns and enjoy various tourist attractions around the lake. I was So impressed. Very beautiful area of Puerto Varas. Lake Llanquihue is the second largest lake in Chile... It's great for walks and relaxing and stunning scenario for photography. There's a view to the amazing Osorno Volcano too. I recommend going there for a day or two. You can visit the city of Frutillar in the same day, is close by and gorgeous too.
Dayane M — Google review
The first time I came to lake Llanquihue 40 years ago, it was end of summer and the volcano Osorno that is the icon of lake and surrounding towns, was covered in snow and glaciers almost to the bottom. Sadly this year there is almost no snow, only a small patch on the south side. The global warming is melting most of the mountain glaciers.
Gonzalo S — Google review
Amazing lake. It is peaceful, with breathtaking views. Its water temperature allows you to swim and the shallow depth, to be sure of children's safety. Sorrounded by two volcanoes, you can take incredible pictures at any time of day. Another important feature is that the northern road has many miles of cycle road.

Frutillar's Dock

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Lovely boardwalk area along the long beach with view of the volcano looking over everything. There's a pretty ornamental pier and a beautiful new theater along the front as well as lots of restaurants, hotels and shops although few were open when we visited as it was too early for beach weather. There are also pretty flower gardens with colorful plants and everything was being very well maintained. Mind you, there were a few hardy souls not only sun bathing but actually swimming. Brrrrr.

The Frutillar German Colonial Museum, established in 1981, spans over 3 hectares and depicts the lifestyle of early settlers in the 19th century. It is a well-regarded museum in southern Chile and boasts an impressive collection of farming and household tools from that era. The museum's distinctive German-inspired architecture is also a noteworthy feature. However, visitors should verify opening hours before planning their visit to avoid disappointment.
A beautiful place to learn about the beginnings of Frutillar, it boasts beautiful, ancient architecture. Leaflets detail life in those years.

Fascinating museum! 🇩🇪🏡 The German Colonial Museum in Frutillar beautifully preserves the history of early settlers. The houses, artifacts, and gardens feel like stepping back in time. A cultural gem with amazing lake views—don’t miss it!
Ankit K — Google review
This was a fun museum to visit. It consists of several buildings and garden areas. It was peaceful walking through the gardens. There were places to sit and meditate. And then visiting places like the mill, country house, blacksmith house, etc. I was on an organized tour. We stopped here for a few hours. I should also mention that I was on a cruise and visited this museum as part of an excursion through the Shore Excursion Group.

Absolutely beautiful setting, with gardens, views of the volcano and carefully preserved structures. What a lovely experience. FYI no English explainers, Spanish only.
Lisail T — Google review
Good way to spend an hour. A little bit of history and some nice gardens.
Dorian B — Google review
It is a good place to learn about the way of life of the first German settlers who came to occupy the territory of southern Chile. Frutillas also offers several alternatives to visit and enjoy its wide and excellent gastronomic offer.
Rodrigo T — Google review
Beautiful setting with lush gardens, stately old buildings show how homes and businesses were housed together, filled with antique furniture, clothing, appliances, tools and equipment used by early settlers from Germany. We had some lively discussions about how each item was used and my young sons marveled at the quantity of work that went into life at that time. The blacksmith shop was especially impressive with a bellows, anvil, and the old forge in place and a nice sampling of tools and items that the blacksmith would have made. The grounds are beautiful and I imagine it is a highly desirable place for weddings and parties with all the gorgeous plants and flowers and water features adorning the gardens.
An'e P — Google review
Beautiful gardening nice historical buildings. I just wish the had some information in another language besides Spanish. Nothing in English or even German, so it made it a bit less interesting for us.

What a wonderful car and collectible museum. The collector has 200+ vehicles cles, not all on display. The model railroad was a special treat. Their little cafe next door was a bonus with all the food fresh from their farm. I've been to countless car museums and this is a gem.

What a gem in the middle of nowhere! The owner was there and we had the nicest chat about how he developed the museum. A must if you are in the area!
Ines S — Google review
We nearly drove past this museum, but did a u turn and went in. What a surprise to find such an amazing collection here. My husband is interested in cars, so of course he loved it; but even as someone who is not particularly keen on cars, I found it fascinating. The toys, household items and agricultural equipment were interesting too. It was great to chat to the founder who had collected all these cars and hear how he had started the collection; the music and photographic displays spoke of his passion too. We did not use the cafe, as it was a bit early for lunch, but it could make a great lunch stop. Lovely place!

Gardens
Jardín Botánico UACh is a charming botanical garden established in 1957, showcasing a diverse collection of native trees and vegetation from Chile and around the world. Unlike traditional gardens, it focuses on mature trees rather than flowers, creating a captivating experience. The garden is open daily during specific hours and offers a serene environment for leisurely strolls or quiet reading. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty while observing various bird species.
If you are visiting Valdivia you must visit this place. It is beautiful and so peaceful. Totally worthy. I would recommend to walk there from the city. It is short and nice. I got a rainy day but still very nice walk. 😊💚💜

Google maps took me to a locked entrance, stay on Los Laureles. Good garden, some beautiful old trees so a very old park. We enjoyed the Japanese forest bathing, memorial and Miyawaki forest. The medicinal garden was not in good condition. Very peaceful walk it needs some more love and attention. Entrance was by donation.

Excellent place, very close to the city. A lot of trees and birds.

This is an unusual botanical garden in that there are no flowers -- just huge, mature, stately trees whose grandeur and song ( in any wind) is captivating. Allow an hour to stroll, not hustle, through the experience. If you have your meditations or reading with you, allow more time. Sidelight: lots of fun student canoodling in the vistas and bushes.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
The individuals who serve at Cafetería Parque Oncol are incredibly affectionate; the establishment is compact and inviting due to its cabin-like design, resulting in a limited number of tables available. The menu may be somewhat condensed but boasts delicious options, which is understandable as they operate in an exceptionally isolated location. This eatery truly comes to the rescue when one desires to replenish their energy after exploring the trails.

Fuerte San Luis De Alba is a historical destination that offers a glimpse into our history. It is a serene and tranquil place with stunning natural surroundings. (Translated by Google) I give the stars for the historical value. But it does not deserve them.... It is a shame that having the resources (national monuments) it is not maintained or conserved. In resolutions from 2008 and 2009, it is observed that there is no concern to maintain the site. Today, after my visit, I am left with a somewhat sour feeling: it is very easy to get there, but there is poor road signage in relation to its location, it is only announced on the road from San José to Mehuin, and not towards the other direction of the road. Furthermore, when you are already on the road to the fort, it is only announced when you are on top of the monument, but nowhere on the route, not even when you start it. We noticed that there was a gastronomic meeting over the weekend (7 days ago) and there are still platforms, cables and plastic cups next to the Cruces River. Little concern for the organizer of the event (The Municipality of San José de Mariquina itself).

Cerro Ñielol, located near Temuco, Chile, offers panoramic city views and a heavily forested area with four trails for hiking. The hill holds historical significance as it houses the original temperate forest of southern Chile before colonization. It is also a special place for the Mapuche people, featuring a ceremonial area called La Patagua near the summit. Visitors can explore jungle paths and enjoy quiet picnic areas while taking in beautiful lookout spots to capture stunning city views.
Fascinating jungle, which is located absolutely close to the city. Entry fee is very fair. It is best to go in on foot and explore the wonderful jungle paths. Even up on the mountain there are many other paths to follow

A nice little accessible walk in the city of Temuco. There are a few routes going to and from the top of the hill, with a few tracks that's more for those wanting a bit of workout, though still doable for any fitness level. The cafe/restaurant at the top was closed when we went so can't comment on that, but just beside it is a lookout where you can see the city sprawled out from afar. Nice and quiet, we got lost a few times, especially in the forested areas. If you go through the main entrance, you have to pay a bit to get in (and slightly more for tourists!), plus the guy manning the office wasn't exactly the helpful and friendly type. You can still get in another way though! :) A must-do if you're in the area.

Dates: Sunday, Dec. 2017 Cost: $2.000CLP/pp for foreigners Pros: - Lots of trails to walk around with plenty of shade and quiet spots to sit and enjoy nature - Beautiful lookout spots to take pictures of the surrounding city. - You could definitely take a picnic and enjoy time out in nature here without being seen by others. Cons: - It's easy to get lost on a trail such that you have to trek back quite a bit of ways to get back to your car to check your phone often (you do have a signal) - We thought the restaurant would be open so we did not take any food with us the day we went and for whatever reason it was not open nor were any hours posted. Overall: We definitely plan to go back here and have a picnic and hike around the area, it's beautiful.

(Translated by Google) Excellent redesign. Recovery of the environment with stairs, terraces and viewpoint. Also called "precinct" is the civic center of Nacimiento. There is history and recreation there. It is a national monument, not as it was but as it could have been. From the modern bridge over the Vergara River it rises majestically and imposingly. worth a visit (Original) Excelente rediseño. Recuperación del entorno con escaleras, terrazas y mirador. Plaza de Armas de Los Ángeles is a vibrant urban plaza that serves as the heart of the town, featuring a striking statue of independence hero Bernardo O'Higgins. This inviting space is adorned with tall trees and a charming bandstand, making it an ideal spot for families to gather and create lasting memories. We have visited here every year for the past 3 years. Last night. The roulette dealer tried to steal 1/2 of my wife's money. It was really obvious to me. She handed the money back. We notified the pit boss who basically said. Is everything good now. And she continued to run the table. We left. Unbelievable

they told me the only accept National money they do not accept American money. It's a very ghetto place stay away if you want to gamble go to Vina Del Mar Chile . I went in with about 5,000 American dollars in my pocket. They tried to charge me chilian 3500 pesos just to walk through the door

Saltos del Laja is a stunning set of waterfalls located between the Chilean cities of Los Angeles and Chillan, just off Route 5 South. The falls consist of four magnificent cascades, each ranging from 40 to 55 meters in height. Visitors can enjoy camping grounds, horseback riding trails, and local vendors offering souvenirs and traditional food along the way to the falls.
Lots of vendors with very cheap items! Beautiful scenery! It's free but the bathrooms cost :(

Its a beautiful place and for free so no need of buying any tickets. The only thing that put down the experience for me was a music seller. He had speakers on with music that in my option todo away the experience of the sound of the water and environment. I don’t see the problem with the seller on the way in to the waterfalls but right by them was not the best!
Erika M — Google review
Great waterfalls to view once you walk down an easy trail lined with vendors selling arts & crafts, snacks, and the like. The walkway used to take you much closer to the falls, but (as of October 2023) the last part of the structure is still damaged from last year's rains. Hopefully, it'll reopen soon.

loved it. gorgeous and lots of places to buy souvenirs

Impressive waterfall and nice little walk around it. Walkway on one side seems to be damaged so access was limited. Free to access!
Mati L — Google review
One of the few natural wonders that you still can visit for free! And the views are stunning. Make sure you're there 30 min before sundown.
Frederik B — Google review
Fairly touristy but still very nice waterfalls to go and check out on your way. If you come early, it will still be quiet
Laura — Google review
The falls themselves are lovely but the surroundings are run down and dirty and the toilets are a mess. The 3000 person entry fee seems high, especially for Chileans.

Nice beach. Beautiful. Can be crowded on summer weekends. That's part of the fun. Good, reasonable food choices. I'm told water quality can be questionable. I don't know. Lots of people go there. There's a shipyard down the beach
