Scenic Drives
Embark on a breathtaking journey along the Ruta de los Siete Lagos, also known as the Seven Lakes road, for an unforgettable day trip from San Martin. This scenic drive offers mesmerizing views of the Andean landscapes and takes you past seven stunning lakes: Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, Machonico, and Lacar.
Wow. Probably the most beautiful drive in the world. Don't forget to go to Villa Traful as well. Make sure to take your time when coming so you can stop wherever you want and take amazing pictures. Also a great tip is to look for hikes before heading there so you can take a brake from driving to go up a mountain or near a lake.
Max L — Google review
A must when in the area. You can take guided tour or drive yourself all the way. The second option is more appropriate if you’re a good driver. Beautiful views.
Alberto C — Google review
Beautiful drive, many nice viewpoints and lakes to jump in along the way
Danielle S — Google review
one of the most beautiful places in the world. you have to see it at least once in your lifetime.
Marie H — Google review
Beautiful drive with loads of adventure! From horses, cows, and sheep temporarily blocking the highway to long winding roads between snowcapped mountains, green valleys, and mirror lakes ... this route had it all. We drove it at the end of winter, but I think it's probably amazing year round. San Martin de Los Andes and Villa Angostura are two essential stops along the route. You can expect it to take all day but there's really no need to leave early unless you really want to savor every view point. You can get to San Martin for a late lunch or early dinner, then head back to Bariloche, assuming that's where you started. Staying the night in any of the three towns is probably easy. I saw a lot of signs showing availability. Driving through the Andes is an incredible experience, and I think this route might be one of the best. Of note, one route was under construction and didn't feel safe to drive. It was Route 65 to Villa Traful. Every other road felt very safe and comfortable.

Below is a summary of the main points: Lago Espejo/Lake Mirror Enrique Wolff, an explorer, visited the lake in 1895 and named it Lake Espejo or Mirror to reflect how amazed he was at a lake that reflects as a mirror Lago Correntoso Chilean immigrants, who were farmers, first arrived here in 1898. They started growing wheat, potatoes, and oat , and raising cows and sheep. Throughout the region, there are numerous farmers with families on both sides of the border. The Argentinian border officers don’t bother them with papers as they use alternative routes. Lago Villarino Named after the Explorer who around 1750 wrote numerous dairies and maps which were critical for the Spanish civilization of Patagonia. Lago Falkner Lago Falkner’s, white sandy beach. Argentinian Explorers initially named this lake Moreno, honoring Perito Moreno. He renamed the lake. Thomas Falkner, in honor of an English Jesuit Explorer. Lago Escondido Escondido, in Spanish means hidden, the lake is truly hidden in a secluded location inside the forest. You will need to jump over to go down and appreciate it’s beauty

Absolutely magical. Take route 40 at least from Bariloche to San Martín De Los Andes. I promise you, you won't regret it. Possibly the most picturesque time is either spring or fall.
Guille P — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful roads I've ever driven. A bit over 100 kilometers, it spans between San Martín de los Andes anda Villa la Angostura, two of my favourite cities in Argentina. You can breathe nature as you drive, cycle or walk through it, with many camping sites and beaches nearby. The water in any of the seven lakes is clean and pure, the trees are green, the sky is blue, what more could you ask for? A must in anyone's bucket list

Oficinas Chapelco Ski Resort, located just 12 miles from town, offers a variety of winter sports activities. Visitors praise the excellent service and efficient organization at the resort. However, some suggest improvements in the lift lines on the mountain. Renowned as one of the top ski mountains in South America, it's a must-visit destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
One of the best ski mountains in South America!

Great lifts and well groomed tracks. Queuing are too messy and unorganized during high season. Leave early unless you want to spend one hour just trying to leave the Parking lot.

Many green tracks are not available due to the lack of snow. Don't recommend it for newbies in 2023.

(Translated by Google) The service was good; if you arrive on time, the service is quick and efficient. The ski slopes are of good quality, offering a great experience for skiers of all levels, but they can get quite crowded, especially at peak times. As for the prices, although the services and facilities are good, they could be a little more affordable, considering the value for money. Overall, it is a good place to ski, but there are some areas for improvement.

(Translated by Google) Terrible service at the office! They only take cash or credit card (they don't offer phone payment options). They don't offer a half-day pass! We went to the mountain for 5 days, and the ranch chair and the stick broke all five days later! (Original) Pésima atención en la oficina! A demás solo cobran efectivo o tarjeta (no te dan opción de pago con teléfono) No tienen pase de medio día!! Fuimos 5 días al cerro y se rompió los 5 días la silla de rancho y el palito !

(Translated by Google) I bought the passes online. They closed the ski resort early (September 1st) without warning, and I couldn't use the pass for a single day. They denied me a refund, and it's also not transferable. I strongly recommend avoiding this ski resort (and the one in Bariloche, since they're owned by the same people). Go to Ushuaia or Chile. Vayan a ushuaia o chile

(Translated by Google) It's a shame to leave this review, since my family took classes. The instructors' human quality is excellent. The ski resort is incredible. It's a shame about the amount of snow, which is beyond belief. But I don't understand how they can have such poor organization in sales and rentals. They opened the season from one day to the next. Everyone crowded around to exchange tickets and others to buy them, lines two blocks long. Online sales only work with purchases made 72 hours in advance. Could this be expedited? We also rented equipment at the rental office at the base of the hill. Every day there's an endless line. People rush to get to their class or drop their child off at school. And what happens? We stopped taking care of ourselves... no masks 😷 everyone squeezed together to see if I could get in before someone else... they had the whole beginning of the year to get organized. It can't be the same line for the person measuring up and the person checking out... if we take care of ourselves, it should be a shared line... and the key part is organization! Don't worry, it could have been 5 stars! I hope they improve.

Mirador Bandurrias

Mentioned on
4 lists
Observation deck
Nature & Parks
Mirador Bandurrias offers stunning views of Lago Lacar extending westward towards the Chilean border. The ascent provides glimpses of the city, and visitors can choose to hike or drive to reach the mirador. The trail begins behind the wastewater treatment plant at the end of Juez del Valle street, with signs indicating the way. There is an entrance fee and a moderate one-hour walk to reach the mirador, with an additional 40-minute walk to a beach view.
it's definitely a hike up so bring lots of water - but the views are absolutely worth it! please note that you have to pay 5.000 pesos to enter Mapuche territory (2.000 if you're a resident of SMA).
Marie H — Google review
It’s amazing place to trek from the city. Easy and not difficult.from here you can have a nice view of the Lago Lacar and the snow clad mountains. The wind sometimes are very strong but seeing the view from here is really nice and amazing. I am sure that you will saw “wow” once you will reach here. There is a small fee of 1500 AR$ which the indigenous Mapuche peoples charge for the upkeep of the place but it is worth it
Imrajiv84 — Google review
Unique viewpoint and must see. It’s a hard and long drive on a gravel road, but doable with a normal sedan on a dry day. Can walk to it from San Martin de los Andes a d it probably takes the same amount of time. The Mapuche tribe sold tickets to the area for $5,000 pesos pp or about USD $5 each.
Lucas T — Google review
Please be aware that the fee is now 5,000 Argentine Pesos per adult if driving and 2,000 if walking. The view is pleasant but not outstanding for the area. The price of $20USD for 4 adults in a car is far too much for this very brief and unremarkable experience.
Simon K — Google review
Might be the best view of Lago Lacar, with a short distance hike approximately 1 hour up hill from San Martin.
Sagie R — Google review
Nice hike from the town if you are without a car. Views were nice. We paid $5000 per person to enter the view point, which seems extortionate, I think there might be a route to avoid this if needed. Later on we got chased by dogs near the water near a random house so be careful of this.
Emma B — Google review
This is an uphill hike with a lot of switch backs. We loved the views all along the hike and would definitely do this hike. It took about an hour to get to the top. It’s worth it! Bring trekking poles if you have them. It will save your knees and shins on the way down.
Georgia L — Google review
Pretty, accessible viewpoint. You have to pay 400 pesos because the trail passes through a mapuche village. Definitively worth it.

Parque Via Christi

Parque Via Christi is a must-visit attraction in Junin, offering a unique and relaxing experience. Spending at least a full day here is recommended, especially on sunny days. The park features the impressive sculptures of Jesus and the beautiful Puente Banana, making it perfect for nature lovers and art enthusiasts alike. The strong Christian theme adds to its allure, creating a magical atmosphere that shouldn't be missed.
I recommend to visit Junin for 2 main attractions, this being one of them. No need to stay one night but you may need a full day, especially if sunny. At least 4 hrs at park jesus and 2 hrs at punte banana. From Neuquen or San Martin (250 pesos bus) is really worth it. The park was unique and very relaxing. The artist is very unique. The puente is lovely and beautiful pics to remember this small city. This park is daring because it can really trigger those Christian fanatics. The sculpture artist is daring and very thought provoking. It is amazing how a small town can turn an ordinary pine tree forest into a masterpiece. Price is 400 pesos. You get an amazing pine tree landscape, mountains views, free range horses wandering around, a 3 hr hike and art. All in one place for a great price.
Antoine A — Google review
I am not religious, but this spot is really interesting. I am a big fan of art and sculptures. Even if you just look around, even the nature is beautiful. And it's not that popular, so don't worry about long lines or crowds if you have anxiety like me.
Artemis's D — Google review
Even though I am not religious the park is worth a visit. 2 hours well spent if no school class is around 🫣
MiBa ( — Google review
Not surprisingly, there was a strong Christian theme to the sculptures, which were very impressive in beautiful woodland surroundings

It is a visit that admits a wide spectrum of looks: admirable from the religious, anthropological point of view, from the infrastructure and architecture, from a walk in a natural environment. If it is desired to learn and to know the work from the religious, its greater symbolic potential, it is suggested to make the visit with guide.

Chachin waterfall - Hua Hum

Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Waterfalls
Easy walk through the gorgeous shady forest listening to the murmuring of the Chachin river, with a spectacular waterfall in the end as if the walk required a reward. Drawbacks? 50 km of a gravel road from San Martin - so better get a 4x4. As a bonus you ll be able to get to termas as well.
Dmitry R — Google review
Great hike to a gorgeous waterfall on the west and of Lago Nonthué near the Chilean border.
Josiah R — Google review
Beautiful waterfall though you can't get very close to it. The path to the view deck is easy to walk and it takes about 20-40 mins depending on your peace. We went with my 1.5yo and he enjoyed it.
Juan F — Google review
A Nice, short Family walk leads to the beautiful waterfall. Some information boards along the way explain the plants and history of the area. Nice place but a long travel if you start in San Martin. You should combine it with some hikes in the National Park.
Markus U — Google review
It’s about 30min walk (steady walk) to the waterfall and about 200ft elevation difference with little slope. I don’t recommend it for elderly people as I saw a few that had to turn around. Overall the waterfall is beautiful and recommended for anyone who likes hiking
David A — Google review
We enjoyed the easy hike and lovely falls.
Suzanne E — Google review
We walked all the way from the information point near Hua Hum until the waterfall. It's a small walk in the woods, with a stop in a small shore with a beautiful sight of the Nuntuhe lake . The path signaling isn't great, but as long as you are aware of where are you going, it's hard to get lost. It's a beautiful walk with a slightly different vegetation from the rest of the lakes in the nearby. Be prepared, tho... It has some pretty agressive uphills. Nothing difficult, but it is tiresome if you are not in great shape. Once in the waterfall parking the path it's super easy to follow, and it has stopping points for resting and additional information. The waterfall itself is a show on it's own -- breathtaking.
Lucas G — Google review
A boat takes you to Park Lanin and then you have to walk for about 20 minutes, depending on your stamina, to reach the waterfall, enjoy the view and take some pictures.

Museo de los Volcanes

Museum
Specialty Museums
We visited in November 2019. The museum had two floors set up- the ground floor (1st) and the second. It was a very good museum of indigenous art and artifacts and geology. The parts related to the big bang and the evolution of the universe were not ready. What was there was great.
Guillermo L — Google review
The Museo de los Volcanes offers a captivating journey through the geological and cultural history of Chile. Established in 2011 within the Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve, the museum showcases approximately 775 archaeological and ethnographic artifacts from 13 pre-Hispanic cultures, with a notable emphasis on Mapuche heritage. Housed in a unique stone-domed structure, the museum provides insights into the formation of the Earth, the significance of volcanoes, and the rich tapestry of indigenous cultures. A visit here is both educational and inspiring, making it a must-see for anyone interested in Chile’s natural and cultural legacy.

Great pieces, very nice design. Only 5% of the museum is in English unfortunately. So you better have a great knowledge of the history and archeology before you arrive to get the most benefit.

Lanín

Mentioned on
2 lists
Volcano
Nature & Parks
Lanín is a striking stratovolcano located on the border of Chile and Argentina, boasting a conical shape and an ice-capped peak. The volcano is the centerpiece of Lanin National Park, offering stunning views that captivate travelers. While it has not erupted for thousands of years, occasional tremors keep its status active. For adventure seekers, climbing Lanín is possible but recommended only for experienced mountaineers or with professional guidance due to its steep inclines and snowy terrain.
Great place to visit. There are three routes to get to the very top, two of which are from Argentina (the south and north faces) and one from Chile. The north face is the most common route to use, whether for a one-day ascent (to get to the refuge camp and to go back) or a two-day ascent to get to the very top. Whichever one you chose, you won’t get disappointed. The route is not too challenging, but it is nevertheless tiring. It is recommended to get a good pair of hiking boots and sticks (if you don’t have them). If you are staying overnight in the camp, you will need a torch and a sleeping bag. Don’t forget to register with the national park if you are doing the ascent without a guide/tour.
Tom V — Google review
Good weekend trip to explore Patagonia’s volcanoes: Excellent 2 day hike to get up Lanin. Day 1 we went up to the Refugio, slept there. On day 2 we started early and reached the Lanin peak. Hard work but you get fully rewarded - amazing and picturesque view from the peak. The hike to get up to the peak is technically not too difficult, no climbing equipment is needed though I would recommend to have crampons since the last bit is icy. 🌋🇦🇷

I only rode past this volcano as I was on a bus from San Martin to Temuco, but... wow. What a sight on a good day. There were some clouds that hid the top on and off, but this is one part of the absolutely enchanting ride that made it what it is.

Portal Salto Huilo Huilo serves as the entry point to the stunning natural wonders of Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve in Chile. The area is renowned for its dramatic waterfall, which can be reached via a short hiking trail. Neltume is the starting point for visiting this popular attraction, strategically located between other tourist destinations such as Puerto Fuy and Choshuenco. The surrounding area features scenic routes and opportunities for outdoor activities like cycling.
Great place for a stroll through nature. Visit, during their winter season to experience its majestic falls and take in mother nature. Theres a trail that is walkable while you listen to the water stream and falls. Seen the waterfalls during the day and night. Both were pleasant and unique.

Would get 5 stars if all the little finer details were seen too. Lots of small finishing touches that just need a little attention like loose wires from speakers visible in the dining rooms, poor sound proofing between rooms (beach front hotel), street dogs regularly on hotel premises, booking of hotel facilities only available on site at the particular hotel rather than cross centers (not hard for reception to call across and check availability for guests or a booking platform online to be out in place?). Otherwise most things were excellent, polite helpful (within bounds) staff, tasty food, beautiful settings etc.

Portal Salto Huilo Huilo is a gateway to exploring the natural beauty of Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve in Chile. Visitors can access the Sendero Salto Huilo Huilo, a self-guided trek leading to a cascading waterfall. The portal also offers the Sendero Botánico for those interested in the diverse plant life of the temperate rainforest. Here's a quick summary of what you can expect at Portal Salto Huilo Huilo: * Pros: Easy access to waterfalls and hiking trails, beautiful scenery (it depends on the tourist guide) * Cons: Limited facilities. Overall, Portal Salto Huilo Huilo is a great option for a day trip or a starting point for further exploration of the Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve.
Sivaraj D — Google review
Portal Salto Huilo Huilo is the entrance to the waterfalls named as the biological reserve where they are located. They are impressive. There are 2 companies that provide the park service, however I would recommend to take the Parque Neltume service, as it has much better view than Portal Salto service. You have to be prepared to walk down through steep ladders if you want to have a bottom view.
Gonzalo S — Google review
A visit to these falls has been one of the highlights of our trip. The falls are magnificent and the trail to get to them is fairly easy to negociate. The whole idea of the reserve is a good pne and it has cafes etc too but could do with clearer signing and a few more staff around......
Edward M — Google review
It's a great place. The power of the water is impressive. Make sure to go all the way down to the bottom, river level, so you can see the falls from below.

Great trip and awesome waterfall views. 2.5 trekking hours really easy, except for a huge 50m stair in the wood. All worth it.

Termas Geometricas is a hotel located in a forested national park, around a two-hour drive from Pucon in Chile. The area surrounding the hotel is endowed with natural hot springs, with over 60 sources of water emanating from the nearby volcanoes. This hotel offers visitors an opportunity to experience the beauty and relaxation of natural hot springs while enjoying the scenic views of the forested national park.
We absolutely loved our experience at Termas Geométricas. The setting is stunning—built right into a narrow canyon with lush vegetation all around. Even though it’s been developed, it still feels incredibly natural, like you’ve stumbled upon a secret spot in the middle of the forest. The website says there are 17 different pools. We didn’t count them, but there are definitely a lot to choose from. The water temperatures range from 35 to 46°C, so there’s something for everyone—whether you like it warm or really hot. They even have cold plunge pools at 9°C, which are amazing for hot-cold contrast. I personally loved that part. Since you’re not allowed to bring your own food, we ended up eating at the on-site restaurant—and we were pleasantly surprised. We shared a pizza that was honestly one of the best I’ve had during my whole trip in Chile. The natural juices were also super tasty. It’s maybe a bit pricier than average, but totally worth it. We spent almost four hours soaking, relaxing, and just enjoying the whole vibe. Overall, an incredible experience. Totally recommend if you’re in the Pucón area. Honestly, it was worth every peso.
Marie-Soleil C — Google review
A piece of paradise in the national park, with hot thermal baths and ice cold waterfalls, surrounded by beautiful greenery. There are plenty of changing cabins, we were lucky to visit in the low season and it wasn’t too crowded there. There is a cafe on site in case you get hungry. Be prepared that the last 11 km of the road is unpaved. We couldn’t buy tickets in advance on the website - there was a problem with a foreign cards payments(I hope that was just a temporary issue)
Kate S — Google review
Even more beautiful than the photos. A perfect variation of pools with different temperatures, icy cold to almost too hot to handle, so you’ll always find one you like. Both day and evening are amazing (at night the paths are lit). Spacious, never felt crowded, super kind staff. Truly breathtaking, one of my best memories in Chile.
My G — Google review
Must! Probably the ambient, I mean the setting of the place, totally immersed in a gorge between the rocks within a Patagonian forest, with the thermal stream flows, spreading an energetic relaxation vibe all over. Many pools with different temperatures ranging, from 8 Celsius up to 46. Incredible experience. Recommend to go during low season, low temperature days, so you can have it all for yourself (August to October probably)
Davide C — Google review
It was rainy and a little cold when I visited but it actually felt pretty great. I visited as part of a tour but these people are really strict about safety while you're visiting. They give you a locker key & keep your ID (so be sure you have it) as a "deposit". There are a good number of pools & they're all pretty large with different temps. They do have staff walking around constantly making sure no one's throwing anything in the pools or behaving badly. The lockers don't fit very much & be prepared to change outdoors even though the door locks. It was very peaceful. There is a Cafe onsite with food/drink and they have fire pits which was a nice touch given the weather when I went. Roads are pretty rough at points getting there so maybe take a tour.

18 natural hot pools with temperature 35°C-46 °C. 3 waterfalls. 2 cold pools and natural cold shower next pools. Places for toilet and changing room. Price was pretty high 43€ per person. They dont give you anything by the entrace for this price only key for locker. Too expensive. Extra charge for towels. No so many people out off season👍🏻.

Nice place to relax in some thermal baths. The scenery is beautiful and there weren't that many people in early September. It was a bit of a drive to get to on some gravel roads but was worth it. Kind of surprised they don't have digital sensors monitoring all of the baths as some appeared to be mislabeled or changed as not all baths are the same temperature all the time.

This was an amazing experience. It rained all day and so I figured soaking in hot water next to a thundering waterfall was the right thing to do. I wasn't wrong! Unfortunately the food at the restaurant was not good. Just skit it and go straight to the main attraction. The pisco sour I had while in the hot tub was actually pretty good and strong. I wish I had more than one.

Villarrica is an active snow-capped volcano that offers guided climbing adventures with stunning views of the surrounding lakes. The Geometric Thermal Springs, located within the Villarrica Volcano National Park, provide a natural and relaxing experience amidst native forests. Climbing the volcano is described as both challenging and rewarding, with the option to slide down on a sled after reaching the summit.
Worth a ride if you are in Pucon. On a clear day, the view of the volcano is stunning and very humbling, especially when covered in snow.

I climbed Villarrica several years ago. Awesome views, an exhaustive workout.
John B — Google review
I’m 61, relatively fit, swim and hike 5-7 km at least once a week at home….and this was challenging. This is not an outing for a typical tourist , but if you are prepared for a good 5 hour workout the climb offers amazing views on the way up and from the top. Looking into the steaming crater is anti-climatic but as a whole the experience is worth it. Honestly , how can you pass on an opportunity to say you climbed a volcano. ‘ Butt sliding’ halfway down the mountain to return brings back childlike giddiness. The guides are amazing, professional, friendly and totally supportive. They are mountain goats relative to us tourists by the way, having to do this hike a few times a week at a minimum , I’m sure.
Hammerdak — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking experience at Villarrica Volcano! One of Chile’s most iconic natural wonders, this active volcano offers stunning views, thrilling hikes, and a surreal sense of scale. I visited during clear weather and the snow-capped cone against the blue sky was unforgettable. The ascent is challenging but rewarding—whether you hike or take a guided tour with crampons and ice axes, the panoramic views from the top are worth every step.

Climbing an actual active volcano sounds pretty dope. It was! And super exhausting! The tour was phenomenal. The only downside was that we couldn't see any real lava #champagneproblems On the way down you get to use your little sled you've been carrying with you along the way and slide down the volcano on your butt. Interesting experience.

Termas Los Pozones is a popular hot springs destination in Pucon, offering an affordable entry fee and clean, beautiful pools with different temperatures. Visitors can enjoy a natural setting with the option to take a dip in the cold river for cold therapy. Accessible by local bus, it's important to note that there is a 10-15 minute walk from the gate.
Lovely hot springs in a beautiful setting. They have a variety of different temperatures ranging from cold to comfortably hot. I even dunked myself in the river to get some extra cold temperatures. It was not too busy on a weekday. The lockers by the springs are plenty large to put a backpack and all your things. Definitely bring sandals to walk between pools!!

Nice hot springs ♨️, with CLP 15000 entry fee on 20230522. The cheapest one in pucon. The pools are clean and beautiful; 2 hours maximum is noise.. but good, But you have to walk for 10-15mins from gate after local bus from Main road, (you can take pulman bus CLP 2500, nearby Brasil street and palguin street) The last bus is at 7pm.
YU-LI C — Google review
Exactly what we needed after a long hike up the Villarica volcano! Small but a nice variety of pool temperatures and also access to the cold river. The price is perfect, and the two-hour time limit wasn't a problem for us.

So nice and hot! There are 5 pools when all of them are between 33-40°, clean and quiet. If I remember right entrance is 10.000 clp before 18:00 and 15.000 clp after

Nice hot spring, clean, and in good condition. The lockers are too small, a pair of boots and a jacket will fill them, but where to go with a backpack? The showers were not very warm. The hottest bath is okay warm, but not very hot. Very crowded on a sunday. Unfortunately, they don't offer anything else than a full day ticket for 30.000 p.p. If you arrive for just 1 hour in the late afternoon, you still have to pay the full price :( Staff is friendly and helpful. There's a restaurant with drinks and food.

Parque Ojos del Caburgua

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Popular spot in the jungle for hiking, swimming and picnics, with deep blue ponds and a waterfall.
The day was perfect, without clouds.. very sunny and clear sky. The temperature was great, and we could enjoy all the paths around the river and the falls.
Alex Y — Google review
Waterfalls everywhere and a lot of beauty to discover. If you walk all the way to the back, you will see really blue water.
My G — Google review
This is what they call "the second entrance" to the Ojos de Caburga and where you can actually see the 3 waterfalls aligned, and the 4th on the other side. On the first entrance, along the S-905 road, the views are very limited. To get here by bus, you should get off at the El Cristo stop, walk +- 2km along the road S-919, and there will be signs indicating the way. The entrance was 2000 clp. Around noon is when the sun light hits all of the lagoon and the view is prettier.
Louise O — Google review
It's ok. Maybe better in the summer? A few dinky little waterfalls and some clear water pools. I wasn't that impressed.
Nathan J — Google review
We were very positively surprised. Entrance is 2000 CLP and there is a lot of well maintained infrastructure, including modern bathrooms and multiple platforms to have a good view on the different waterfalls and lagoons. Apparently there are two divided properties with different entrances. I would recommend the one marked as "Parque Ojos del Caburgua", which has a better angle on the site.
F S — Google review
Beautiful blue clear water pools surrounded by waterfalls. Plenty of picnic tables and places to sit and have lunch. The walks to see all the waterfalls is short and we’ll maintained with viewing decks and paths. It cost 10,000 pesos for our entire family and we spent about an hour. There were several restaurants and shops although all were closed when we were there.
Brock S — Google review
Probably the most touristy spot in pucon. If you go into this knowing this it’ll be more enjoyable for you. Several platforms around the lagoons that end up being very crowded with people waiting to take pictures and then leaving. But even with the crowds it’s incredibly beautiful and absolutely worth the visit. Only takes about 30-60 minutes to see the whole area and tickets can be bought at the entrance If your looking for a more private experience then check out any of the numerous waterfalls along Rio palguin that’s about a 15-20 minute drive away

Parque Nacional Huerquehue

National park
Nature & Parks
Huerquehue National Park is a vast mountainous area with ancient forests, lakes, and hiking trails. The park offers stunning landscapes of araucarias forests and pristine alpine lakes. Visitors can embark on all-day excursions to explore the beautiful scenery, including waterfalls and the challenging San Sebastian trail. While some trails may be difficult due to snow or steep terrain, the breathtaking views make it worthwhile for outdoor enthusiasts.
A wonderful experience from start to finish. They did have one English speaking ranger at the entrance who checked us in and was able to give us the hiking options in the park. All the trails are well marked and easy to follow. We hiked the Los Lagos trail and there were excellent bathroom facilities in the beginning of the trail. Hiking among the monkey puzzle trees was an experience of a lifetime!
Emily F — Google review
The road becomes dirt and gravel for the last 8km. I was able to do it in a crappy Chinese car, so not a big deal but it might be tough in wet weather. Hiking trails to the falls were very muddy and partially covered in melting snow. It's mostly a forest trail without a ton of great views, but still peaceful. The ranger at the entry gate was nice and kind and patiently explained the trail conditions to me in a language I pretended to understand.
Nathan J — Google review
This hike turned me into a hiker! 😀 Such a wonderful experience. There are different trails you can do - we did the trail to Paillaco. The place is easy to get to via bus from Pucon. The hike itself has different sections to it, which are all very distinct. And finally when you get to the top you have a great panaramic view of all the volcanoes 🌋. Also lots of super friendly people on the walk. It’s really well signposted so can’t get lost. Recommended to take food like sandwiches(especially some sweet fruit) and water.
Patrick D — Google review
Very good hiking to the 3 lakes. A lot of steep uphill at the start and then steep downhill at the end through twisty roots. Hiking poles recommended, or pick up some of the abandoned hiking sticks near the start if you are lucky enough to find some. Make sure to buy your entry passes a couple of days in advance: you won't get in if you go there without, and it is a long way there.
John C — Google review
We got there and back by public bus. The ride takes about an hour. We hiked to the Uerquehue Lagoon, but we didn’t have enough time to complete the full loop because we needed to catch the bus back. In total, we did 18 km with about 1,000 m of elevation gain in 7 hours. I was expecting more volcano views, but there’s only one real viewpoint. Overall, it was fine, nothing exceptional. The 10 USD entrance fee for foreigners feels overpriced. Considering the high fee, I’d rate the place 5 out of 10. Unfortunately, there’s no real infrastructure you would expect for a paid entrance. There aren’t even benches near the bus stop or water fountains at the entrance. You also can’t buy water or snacks when you exit the park.
Юлия Т — Google review
Perfect hike with magical scenery. The snow made it more difficult than usual, but also led to a different hiking experience overall. One can do the three first lakes in 4-5 hours. Definitely recommend this hike
Babak A — Google review
Unable to get to the top of the trail due to there being a LOT of snow and ice for over 200m on a really steep incline (and a lot of mud and snow for about 15-20mins beforehand). There was no prior warning of this on their website, so we weren’t prepared with hiking poles and crampons. We saw locals with this equipment so it is definitely needed, I recommend a notice on the website recommending this as it’s a shame we couldn’t finish the hike.
Zena A — Google review
This is a wonderful parc and definitely worth a stop if you have the time. If you have to choose we would recommend Parque Conquillio more ☺️. The trails do offer some beautiful views of the lagunas on the one side and Volcano Villarica on the other side. There are longer and shorter trails that are medium difficulty. Enjoy the beauty!

Plaza de Armas de Pucón is a famous attraction located in downtown Pucon, offering a great sight of the Villarrica Volcano and the nearby Lake of Pucon. Visitors can enjoy the green surroundings, listen to native birds, and admire the stunning volcano view. The plaza provides ample seating, play areas, and parking spaces for tourists.
Not only Plaza de Armas, but the whole thing is very nice to visit!

We love this plaza—we’ve been travelling around South America for a few months and it’s our favourite for how it looks and feels. We love the lighting in the evening and the sweet play area with incredible views of the volcano. There are fun go-karts for hire, too.

Was here to cheer my partner on during the Ironman 70.3 Pucón! The plaza itself is lovely and has a lot of interesting things. Unfortunately, in my point of view, it also had a lot of people trying to get you to "save" your soul by coming to Jesus.
Zans ( — Google review
Well maintained, clean and green plaza. Beautiful.
Johannes L — Google review
That place is so amazing, it has a great sight to the Volcano located in Villarica and you have the Lake of Pucón not too far away! As my first trip to the South of Chile, I really enjoyed it!
Jean D — Google review
Such a lovely square green green ! You can hear native birds ! And admire the volcano view
Daniela M — Google review
A bit crowded during high season (November-March) for obvious reasons. It's near the beach. Overall a nice park area to bring kids, but not much to do unless you are looking to picnic abd sit around
Shannon R — Google review
Nice wide spaces. Kids playground and small skate park. Trees and bushes are labelled, it can be a good introduction to the local flora.

Caburgua Lake

Lake
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
This lake features beaches, nearby waterfalls & views of surrounding volcanic mountains.
This is about a 9hr drive down from Santiago, I brought the Packraft out not really knowing what to expect. This is a massive lake (with equally massive lakes nearby) all with exceptionally clear blue waters. This was an amazing paddle and the water to extremely clam while I was there. I was able to fly the drone and get spectacular views of surrounding mountains and Volcanoes. This is absolutely a favorite spot for the locals and can get pretty packed, however the beaches are pretty clean. You are able to rent jet skis and kayak as well. There are a series of small gift shops/snacks shacks and pay as you go bathrooms (300CLP). We got here early and were able to beat the rush and find more secluded parking a bit further down the road under a shade tree(car camping) Although there’s not camping on the beach, there are two spots we found on iOverlander that worked for us for a night. If you enjoy swimming and sunbathing while taking in incredible views and down mind a small crowed I’d definitely recommend this. If your looking to get further out on the water it makes it that much butter! 🚣‍♂️ IG: adventureoveramenities_

The Museo Nacional Ferroviario Pablo Neruda is a railway museum in Temuco, Chile that offers a glimpse into the country's train history. The museum showcases historic locomotives from 1908 to 1962, including the 1923 Presidential Coach and a working antique train used for short trips. Visitors can explore various buildings on the campus, such as the Araucaria Museum building and the Menchaca Lira Campus of Art Building, both featuring distinct architectural styles.
Very complete show of old trains that run in Chile since beginning 1900's up to few years ago. You could pay a little and take a tour inside rebuilt wagons. Dinner wagon, bedroom wagpn, presidential wagon and more. Nice place with large park to walk around.
Francisco D — Google review
It was free entry - gratis. Great place to see a train yard and some History of Pablo Neruda around 1926

This is a great museum and the staff are really welcoming. Great value. If going by road, Google maps doesn't know where the entrance is! Follow the railway track from the ungated level crossing!
Edward T — Google review
The trains are everywhere so everyone can see them but there is an interactive "museum" in the interior with a waiting line of over 2 hours, not really worth it. If you are nearby and have the time, it is a good place to kill some time.

Cerro Ñielol, located near Temuco, Chile, offers panoramic city views and a heavily forested area with four trails for hiking. The hill holds historical significance as it houses the original temperate forest of southern Chile before colonization. It is also a special place for the Mapuche people, featuring a ceremonial area called La Patagua near the summit. Visitors can explore jungle paths and enjoy quiet picnic areas while taking in beautiful lookout spots to capture stunning city views.
Fascinating jungle, which is located absolutely close to the city. Entry fee is very fair. It is best to go in on foot and explore the wonderful jungle paths. Even up on the mountain there are many other paths to follow
Johannes E — Google review
A nice little accessible walk in the city of Temuco. There are a few routes going to and from the top of the hill, with a few tracks that's more for those wanting a bit of workout, though still doable for any fitness level. The cafe/restaurant at the top was closed when we went so can't comment on that, but just beside it is a lookout where you can see the city sprawled out from afar. Nice and quiet, we got lost a few times, especially in the forested areas. If you go through the main entrance, you have to pay a bit to get in (and slightly more for tourists!), plus the guy manning the office wasn't exactly the helpful and friendly type. You can still get in another way though! :) A must-do if you're in the area.

It is beautiful to enjoy with family and friends. Take water with you, you can rarely see car speeding but it happened to me once.

Dates: Sunday, Dec. 2017 Cost: $2.000CLP/pp for foreigners Pros: - Lots of trails to walk around with plenty of shade and quiet spots to sit and enjoy nature - Beautiful lookout spots to take pictures of the surrounding city. - You could definitely take a picnic and enjoy time out in nature here without being seen by others. Cons: - It's easy to get lost on a trail such that you have to trek back quite a bit of ways to get back to your car to check your phone often (you do have a signal) - We thought the restaurant would be open so we did not take any food with us the day we went and for whatever reason it was not open nor were any hours posted. Overall: We definitely plan to go back here and have a picnic and hike around the area, it's beautiful.

Good view of the city. Also a small restaurant at the top. A lot of birders get some special species here, if you are into that kind of thing. Easy drive up and down on mostly one way roads. 2000 peso entrance fee.
Rose F — Google review
Long historic background we found in this symbolic hill, perfect for a day of trekking or cycling, the native forest is very well preserved, at the summit it counts with a little museum and picnic areas and the best overview of the flourishing city of Temuco. A must to visit.

Newer hotel. Well decorated and in good shape. Suites are excellent. Pleasant staff. Good gym (for a hotel). Indoor (heated) and outdoor (not heated) pools. Parking can be crowded. Breakfast is good, but not great.

Great rooms, tasty and abundant breakfast and perfect location. The hotel is quite tidy and the staff are helpful and friendly. The only downside was that corridors were a bit smelly (at least in the seventh floor, where we stayed)... Maybe it's the rugs, because they look rather old.

We have visited here every year for the past 3 years. Last night. The roulette dealer tried to steal 1/2 of my wife's money. It was really obvious to me. She handed the money back. We notified the pit boss who basically said. Is everything good now. And she continued to run the table. We left. Unbelievable

Saltos del Laja is a stunning set of waterfalls located between the Chilean cities of Los Angeles and Chillan, just off Route 5 South. The falls consist of four magnificent cascades, each ranging from 40 to 55 meters in height. Visitors can enjoy camping grounds, horseback riding trails, and local vendors offering souvenirs and traditional food along the way to the falls.
Lots of vendors with very cheap items! Beautiful scenery! It's free but the bathrooms cost :(

Its a beautiful place and for free so no need of buying any tickets. The only thing that put down the experience for me was a music seller. He had speakers on with music that in my option todo away the experience of the sound of the water and environment. I don’t see the problem with the seller on the way in to the waterfalls but right by them was not the best!
Erika M — Google review
Great waterfalls to view once you walk down an easy trail lined with vendors selling arts & crafts, snacks, and the like. The walkway used to take you much closer to the falls, but (as of October 2023) the last part of the structure is still damaged from last year's rains. Hopefully, it'll reopen soon.
