Such a beautiful place. With very friendly locals. I can't wait to visit again. With love from South Africa. ❤️

What I liked: - the town and the beach looked reasonably not too crowded, allowing us to find easily space for ourselves on the beach and at the restaurant What I did not like: - the town is in fact just a short road with some bars and restaurants, but there is not a real attraction to visit after the beach.
Andrea R — Google review
Nice beach with some structure and some beach-facing things like restaurants. > Traffic to arrive may be terrible, so pay attention to the period you're visiting. Going on off-season periods is better. > It's not the cleanest beach, but water is good enough for swimming. > You will need to consume (eat or drink) to rent the umbrella and chairs. When I went there it was BRL30 consumption per person. > In comparison to other local beaches, I felt very safe in there. People were friendly and never hostile in any sense.

Fantastic beach. Where the forest and hills meet the ocean. It was rainy and cloudy when we were there but still amazing 🤩
Gary M — Google review
Nice sun sets, not much else to offer, horrible food, bad service, everything is overpriced, seems they are taking everything they can from the fame of medina, don't bother going much much better places to see in Brazil, or better you go visit so less people where we go haha

Accessed by boat or trail, this stunning, remote beach is known for water sports & panoramic views.
It was very beautiful, with more strong waves. Quick Tip: Carry Citroilha for those insects.
Nishant B — Google review
Beautiful beach on top Of an island called Ilhabela. However, beware that there are highly infectious mosquitoes by the name of barrachudos that might end with the paradise
Sofía O — Google review
An overrated and oversold beach. It is not worth the challenging and expensive trip in an SUV. It is just ordinary. Has millions of flies and bugs that can resist repellents. The sea is not swimmable.
Esra K — Google review
Jeep tour, sightseeing, swimming, caipirinhas, picanhas, boat tour. So nice, not bothered by the little mosquitos!
Cees S — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever see!
Francisco P — Google review
This is a wonderful beach. Beautiful views and plenty of places to relax. There was also numerous restaurant options. Towards the South end of the beach there is a great overlook perfect for pictures. My wife and I especially enjoyed renting body boards and enjoying the large waves. This will be the highlight of our trip and made us feel like kids again.
Lucas K — Google review
So beautiful but BRING INSECT REPELLENT AND REAPPLY OFTEN. I was bitten over 50 times (honestly I counted) in the 15 minutes between swimming and eating when I reapplied repellent. All of the group had allergic reactions and were ill. It's incredibly beautiful and fun to swim and explore but be careful of the swarming mosquitoes.

Jabaquara Beach

Beach
Nature & Parks
Compact, sandy palm-fringed cove with seafood shacks & snack bars, plus rental umbrellas & chairs.
The staff are great. The manager is very accommodating. When I arrived with a Dome bike, he asked for my battery so I can charge it. Gabriel speaks English, he made sure my orders are well-taken care of. Welyngton is a great Chef. He prepared my Asinha do Frango (Buffalo Wings), one of the best I had (the sauce is very Asian which suited my taste, I am Asian). My 2-hour stay after cycling from the Ferry was worthwhile because of the quality of service this beach restaurant offers. 2 thumbs up!
Reyno A — Google review
In my opinion one of the best beaches you can reach by car on Ilhabela. Better than this would only be Castelhanos.
Francisco P — Google review
Beautiful beach in the north side of Ilhabela. Access via an unpaved road
Marcos S — Google review
Really nice beach, standing out from southern ones. Can be reached by regular cars, despite the final 4 km of dirt road. Two big paid parking areas almost by the beach. Well served with a restaurant and beach vendors. Tons of blackflies, though: make sure to take any body oil to spread, which is the only effective protection against them - insect repellents only lasts few minutes.
Eduardo O — Google review
Covered in plastic seats, no decent food options, the only one available is too expensive for what it offers. And make sure to put on repellent otherwise you get butchered by some nasty insects. Road there is pretty unaccessible too if you don't have a 4×4. Not worth it.
Daniela C — Google review
Nice and beautiful beach, the way to get there isn't easy, though. Also, on rainy days, it requests special attention and it wouldn't be recommendable for drivers without experience
Yuri D — Google review
Really beautiful beach! Less crowded than some of the others. Worth a visit, even with the sand flies. The road is more easily acessible than I was expecting.
Kirstin R — Google review

Ubatuba Aquarium

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in the stunning coastal town of Ubatuba, the Ubatuba Aquarium is a delightful blend of indoor and outdoor experiences that showcases an impressive array of local marine life. Established by a passionate group of oceanographers in 1994, this aquarium features around 70 species across its various enclosures, including Brazil's largest saltwater tank. Visitors can marvel at fascinating creatures like crabs, octopuses, sharks, and even Magellanic penguins from Patagonia.
Amazing place. Worth every penny from the ticket. Well guided, the staff is very gentle. Lots of information about sea life.

Was surprised at the array of animals there , staff were lovely and when raining spent a couple of hours sheltering inside !
George W — Google review
I liked it, kind of fun for children. It isn't as big as other ones around the world, but fits into this environment. The most fun was the playground behind it for my kids.
Daniel G — Google review
Small but very nice and well organized, employees were respectful and knowledgeable. The sharks and penguins were the highlight of the visit but the experience was really good overall, really worth the time.
Julio R — Google review
This aquarium is an excellent opportunity to make a immersion into the beauty and miseries of the sea, this place is prepared for a huge crowd of adults and kids enjoying multiple attractions, it is recomended to buy tickets online in advance to have a quick access to the place, also check the estimated time for some scheduled activities, like feeding the penguins, so you can have the best experience possible here, very recommended
Renner P — Google review
It was smaller than I've been to other places, but close and intimate. Probably crowded I peak season, but July it was perfect. Some signs had English but not all.
Mac S — Google review
Very nice manageable size for children. We saw species we'd never seen before and there is a beautiful shell collection. The tide exhibit was fun. The petting pool was a new experience too. There's a nicely decorated cafe (we got a free coffee with a family ticket) overlooking a play area outside on the promenade. The recycling exhibit was overly sombre at the end of the tour.
Rachel C — Google review
The visit is very pleasant and the path is interesting with posters and exhibitions. The place is not very big but there are spectacular types of marine animals. I suggest to avoid peak time as it could be stressing waiting in the queue. Near the exit, you can touch a number of live examples like the star fish, pepino do mar, etc. There is a small restaurant inside, which can also serve people not in the aquarium from the side overlooking the beach.

This place is incredible. It really worth the visit. Just recommend to get here as early as possible since it gets very busy and it’s quite hard to reach the parking slot. 30.00 reais(5.50€ +/-). The lounge beach has minimum consumption(200.00 reais). The prices are okay. The service is okay. It could be better!

Beach frequented by locals, with an image of a place to be. Surf breaks literally meters from the beach so it is lovely for a swim. Some "disconected" foodstalls ice merchants and rent a canoe. Nature around it is really impressive and truly worth a visit.
Denis P — Google review
Good beach, the sand is very coarse (and it gets everywhere :p), even hurts the feet a bit, the ocean had lots of big waves, not good for swimming (the day I went, at least), but it's good, beautiful, there is a kiosk with several options and very, very good service, they are incredible polite and handy, a bit expensive.
Luan N — Google review
If you're not going to the beach from Taubaté via Oswaldo Cruz, you can expect a kinda long trip, but it's definitely worth it. (Also, if downtown Ubatuba traffic is in a jam, try going through Rio Escuro. It's a muddy way, but definitely worth the view. The beach, as most of Ubatuba beaches, is removed from the main road. If you go all the way down by car, there are some paid parking lots. We parked at Bruzy for 35BRL. We also stayed at Bruzy. There are tables closer and further away from the sea. The further ones are sheltered from the sun not only with parasols but also with trees. The service is very good, the price of the beverages is sensible (for a beach) and the portions are well served, lacking a little in savor. The beach has very fine white sands and a very clear water. The waves are around 1m high. Strongly recommend.
Hélder R — Google review

Praia da Almada is a family-friendly beach located in Ubatuba, offering a picturesque stretch of white sand lined with lush vegetation and century-old trees. The tranquil waters make it ideal for sunbathing and surfing, attracting many visitors, especially on weekends. Despite the challenging road access, the stunning views along the way and the charming hotel with a restaurant make it worth the journey.
Great place. Really great place to relax and enjoy a beautiful day in the beach. The road is quite long and in bad state, but the views are wonderful. The beach is the last one before to arrive in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

One of the best beaches in the region to relax. Very calm, pool-like sea, usually a bit warmer than elsewhere. If you are looking for some very tasty caipirinhas, try the "Caju" kiosk.

Beautiful beach. Access road is a bit tricky/bumpy, but has breathtaking views along the way.

The beach is actually very pretty, but short, and equipped with a charming hotel with restaurant. Access by car is possible from the br highway but the road isn't the best. There are sights to be had along the ride that might make it worth your while tough.

Avoid this beach if you're traveling with kids. Vicious dogs freely roam at this beach. Same dog bit my 3yo and 5yo.

Beautiful beach surrounded by a fishermen community. There you’ll find some restaurants serving local food (mostly fish and seafood). Prices are okay - not that cheap though.

Beautiful view, good food, calm waters. Not very good for snorkeling. Bad visibility. One of my favorite beaches in the region

Praia do Sono is a secluded and tranquil beach accessible by small boats, located near the coastal village of Trindade. It is renowned for its pristine white sands, calm and clear waters perfect for swimming, and hiking trails through rough jungle paths. The area offers simple guest houses and a few families living in the vicinity who work in local restaurants and bars.
Absolutely Incredible place! It was Definitely worth the hike. I can't wait to come back!
K D — Google review
Beautiful beach! I took the bus from the central station in Paraty going to Vila Oratorio. I got down in the last stop, that's where the hike starts. There're signs. Took me almost 1 hour to get to Praia do Sono, it was really hot and the path goes up and down. Can be slippery in some parts. Beware of snakes, spiders and scorpions (there's even a sign about it). I just saw a dead snake in the path. I had lunch in the only place open. It was good. Guess that low season has something to do with it cause there's plenty of bars/restaurants in the shore. There's also camping sites, it's a great option to stay here longer and explore nearby beaches. There's also a 5 nights hike, camping along the way and bringing your own food. The sea had waves, and it was fun! Be conscious about your level in the water as there's no lifeguards or whatsoever. I loved the fact there were few people. Definitely worth coming here for an entire day or more!! I 😊😁😄 I went back hiking, but I saw people taking a boat
M S — Google review
After a walk of 1.30 hour through the jungle get there ( you can go by boat, but it's not the same feeling). The beach is very beautiful and clean. There is a variety of restaurants even being an isolated beach. There are lots of camping sites if you want to stay overnight.
FERNANDO R — Google review
You can reach Praia do Sono by walking through a 3km trail. It's not a difficult one but be sure to use repellent.

Great place to stop by, worth the visit. You can get there by hiking or taxi boat. I went hinking and at the end of the day I got a boat back to our car. The locals are very receptive and their food is amazing, you won't regret the visit. Don't be afraid of the dogs they are friendly and like to be around for company and they like to play.

Perfect place to rest. Not so easy access making this place more calm.

Easy to get there from Paraty. Bus leaves fairly regularly to Vila Oratorio and from there you can walk the (fairly) simple 3km walk to the beach. It was pretty slippery when I went but if you are of reasonable fitness then it shouldn’t be a problem.

We didn’t get a chance to stay here but passed through during a hike and it looked wonderful. Beautiful calm beaches and the staff here are so lovely. Even though we weren’t staying the lady helped us to get a boat over to the Sugar Loaf and gave us some local advice. Amazing location, beautiful beach , Bruno is very helpful and always with a smile, they have canoe and sup that you can take and explore the area as well as snorkelling equipment, the breakfast is very good, on the back of the hotel is a jungle , better use shoes especially if you decide to take the left side it is really amazing if you are lucky you will see monkeys, you have to remember that this is a hotel in the jungle so that means that everything can not be perfect, the water is not very hot , in the night you may not have electricity all the time , there is humidity so the towels and the clothes are not easy to dry but it is truly amazing and you must go…

Only Talking about the Restaurant: Prices are way too high and the staff is very inattentive and in a bad mood. I would say it was a bad service but in fact it was just no service at all, as they didn’t come to our table to collect our order after 20mins of waiting - even though there were almost no other customers and we were sitting in front of the counter. Wouldn’t recommend to go!! (Been there 6th of January 2025)

I'm only writing for the restaurant. We waited an hour for a drink and another hour for ceviche. Service was one of the worst I have ever seen with the staff smoking cigarettes and not paying any attention to us after multiple requests. (Translated by Google) It's very beautiful here. Both above and below the water. Especially the below-water part is of a beauty that unfortunately doesn't last long. It's being destroyed by barbecue boats that throw trash into the water. Paper with mayonnaise, bones, cans, bags, plastic cups, straws, cigarette butts. They play funk music so loud that you can't even talk 100 meters away. In addition, there were about 80 jetskis competing, above the corals, above the fish that are the reason for the beauty of the place! We know that these machines ruin the peace above the water. But it's 10x worse below the water, it disrupts life there, right? I wanted to cry, I felt so sad. Is it not possible to enjoy the beauty without destroying it? Very good beach if you are a surfer. There are large waves there. If you want to swim this isn't the place. There are surfing schools on the beach, stands with drinks. There is no taxi boat that you can take from there (unless you have arranged pick up in advance).

This place is SURREAL! We got to visit this beach early in the morning and it was a magical moment alone in the world! There is a small walk of around 15 minutes to get there, if you are lucky enough you will spot monkeys and birds !

One of the most beautiful beach if ever seen. The sand is really white like in the movies and the water is so clean and nice. Once you there you don’t want to leave I promise you! A must see when you visit Ihla Grande! I recommend to hike to the beach it’s quiet challenging but nice to climb up and down through the tropical forest. And as mentioned before, definitely worth it

Very long sandy beach. Apparently once voted among the best beaches in the world but I don't see why, as it is not very special or photogenic. The life guards mark most of the beach unsafe to swim and only leave a small part open in front of their watch tower. But that part is so shallow that it's not possible to swim there and beyond that there are huge waves so again not swimmable. The best thing about the beach is that it is so big you can find a spot with no one around. The trail to get there from the drop off point is about 20 minutes and you can see some cute looking monkeys there if you're lucky.

What a beach 🏝 a real paradise beach. The beach is very long so you can easily find a suite spot away from the crowds. There is little food and drinks for sale on the beach, so make sure you bring some before you leave. It is also a bit of a muddy hike trough the jungle before you get to the beach, so best to wear the right footwear

Absolutely incredible beach. The sand is fine. The ground is clean. The waves are huge! We hiked 3 hours from Vila de Abraão and it was absolutely challenging and worth it. A must see when on Ilha Grande and Brazil!

Praia de Abrãaozinho

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Praia de Abrãaozinho is a beautiful beach with clear and calm waters, making it an ideal spot for swimming and relaxation. While it can get crowded in the afternoon, there is still plenty of space to unwind. Visitors can find a few restaurants and vendors nearby for refreshments. However, it's advisable to avoid weekends due to the influx of people. Additionally, transportation costs from the beach back to Abrao by taxi boat are relatively high.
A very nice beach overall with a few restaurants and vender near by should you need something to eat or drink. If you come early, the beach is actually not very busy (depending on season) but at about 1pm people will start to fill the beach, by 3pmish you'll have quite a few people (but still plenty of space to relax). The water is reasonably clear and calm. A great place to relax.

It was OK. The beach was nothing too special, I would recommend Praia Preta instead if you are looking for a nice beach near Abraão. The pros of going here instead would be the fact that there are some restaurants here, a little less people, and clear water. However, the hiking trail there made it not worth going. It is not taken care of properly. There is lots of trash that stinks, and instead of having regular railings there are barbed wires close to the trail in places where people could easily slip, making it incredibly dangerous. Would not recommend the trail to anyone because of the dangers, especially during the rainy season when the path is almost guaranteed to be muddy and therefore extra slippery.

Avoid it on weekends. Nice beach to swim, Expensive to eat. 25R to come back to Abrão by taxi boat 😬

Wonderful quite beach, there’s a bar as well tog te some beers while chilling on the beach. It is a fair 30 min hike in the woods from Abrao. If you have shoes with you it’s better than flipflops. In some point you may need to walk in water depending on the tie

If I could actually LIVE here I'd be the happiest person on the planet. The restaurants have excellent food (and I mean it). There is a private inn at the end of the beach. The place is paradise.

I loved the trail to the beach. It's a beautiful piece of jungle. The beach has restaurants and facilities. It's very near to the village.

It's fun tô take the kids and it's very thematic! Beautiful to walk at night and even more beautiful in Christmas season. There is also a place there with one of the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted!
