The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, located in Minais Gerais, is a Rococo-style church renowned for its soapstone carvings and wood sculptures. The basilica houses the famous soapstone sculptures commissioned by Portuguese adventurer Feliciano Mendes in the 18th century. Created by the acclaimed artist Aleijadinho, these twelve sculptures of old testament prophets are considered some of his finest works.
Here is the world heritage was registered in 1985. If you transfer between Belo Horizonte and Ouro Preto, you can stop here easily. There are beautiful sculptures made by Aleijadinho. Inside church is also beautiful space. There is a vivid altar. We went there on Friday afternoon, there were few people. It was calm and silent place to feel Baroque art.

#sundayspecial in the city of the trump of the baroque @congonhas_mg, and spending my time at the @congonhas_interior, which retains the famous temple of buildings, the Passos da Paixão de Cristo, given the recognition of talent and brilliance of the artwork Aleijadinho. Awesome experience trough the historical cities of @minasgerais_br, highly recommend this place...🙏🙏🙏

Beautiful place! Historical, well mantained and with an amazing view.
Gabriel D — Google review
This sanctuary in Minais Gerais, south of Belo Horizonte was built in the second half of the 18th century. It consists of a church with a magnificent Rococo interior of Italian inspiration; an outdoor stairway decorated with statues of the prophets; and seven chapels illustrating the Stations of the Cross, in which the polychrome sculptures by Aleijadinho are masterpieces of a highly original, moving, expressive form of Baroque art.

Have no signs on the way to Basilica, Google Maps helped. And there are old identifications about the historical site, hard to read. Was a amazing sunday, even during pandemic restrictions to visit and see what I always even seen on the History Books.

(Translated by Google) The 12 Prophets of the Bom Jesus de Matosinhos Sanctuary are simply splendid. Each sculpture has a unique expression — no two are the same. Master Antônio Francisco Lisboa, known as Aleijadinho, demonstrated an impressive talent. In my opinion, sculpting with such detail in soapstone, which is such a fragile material, is truly extraordinary. Right next to the Sanctuary is the Congonhas Museum, which complements the visit by explaining the entire history and symbolism of the Bom Jesus de Matosinhos Sanctuary. It is definitely worth a visit!

(Translated by Google) Incredible beauty and sadness at the same time. - The sculpted statues of the 12 are incredible, and the church is also magnificent. - Sadness is remembering and imagining its construction by slaves. (Translated by Google) One of Aleijadinho's most important works, made of soapstone, is located in the municipality of Congonhas, Minas Gerais, at the entrance to the Bom Jesus de Matosinhos church. If you appreciate sculpture and haven't seen it before, I recommend visiting as soon as possible, as the over 200-year-old work is aging. Unfortunately, during my visit, on Sunday, July 7th, the church was without power, and all the chapels (where several other important works are on display) were closed for renovation.

Amazing place! Culturally must visit! All the best of Minas Gerais can be found here. Good quality souvenires and perfect ambience. Historically rich! Architecturally fascinating.

It’s a cool cool spot. There were some artisan hippies in there. I bought a cool little ring from and they have like an awesome gem museum on one side of the park on the other side. They have like an art museum. It’s like the old governors mansion it’s really spectacular a lot of history a lot of beauty overall just a gorgeous park in area.
Shawn R — Google review
Beautiful place for a stroll, any time of day. Bonus if you read up on the historical value of the buildings you see surrounding the park itself. Sidenote: there's a very kind man just off the south side of the park, on Avenida Cristovao Colombo, who sells chicletes and other boxed treats from his wheelchair, to passing motorists. He's been selling from this very same corner, from his wheelchair, for over 30 years.
George T — Google review
Beautiful park both during the day and at night. Very cool museums and sights around the border. Look out for free entry days into the museums!
Kyle D — Google review
Beautiful square in the center of Belo Horizonte inspired on the gardens of the Versailles palace, it is one of the most relevant ones. It has the so called cultural circuit around it, including different museums, knowledge institutions and at least one theater. The CCBB (cultural center of Banco do Brasil) stays nearby and is a must do visit. Also notice the wavy building, it is Oscar Niemeyer’s project. And such a beautiful one. The palm trees lane is so beautiful!

The building and the exhibition are superb yet the visitation was uneasy. The exhibition rooms are icy due the AC. I know that's need to maintain the pieces, but it was too low. Even the employees were attared in winter clothes, including gloves. We were unable to finish the exhibition due the AC.

I've been here for two exhibits, and both were fantastic. Great location to access other tourist spots like Praca Liberdade and see some interesting architecture.

Great free museum in interesting old building. Intriguing collection of Brazilian art. Care and restaurant too.
Paul D — Google review
Wonder place to visit in Belo Horizonte and in any city (main cities in Brazil have the Cultural Center of Banco do Brazil). Entry is free. Here there is an interior terrace shared by two cafes/ restaurants, with very nice ambiance; the prices are a bit too high, so it is not for the backpacker, but it is nice to have a different experience. The exhibits are usually well curated. Currently there are two, one of Antonio Poteiro, Brazilian popular artist and one of Man Ray, the famous photographer. Both very interesting and, again, with free entrance. Coming here gives you the opportunity to enjoy the Freedom square (Praça da Liberdade) where it is settled. Don’t miss the wavy building of Oscar Niemeyer, renown Brazilian modernist architect.
P4K T — Google review
Most people working there was very nice and accommodating. I’m a beginner Portuguese speaker and when they see me struggling, they very kindly spoke slowly and helped me with what I needed. The exhibition was great and the interior of the building is stunning.

Mercado Central de Belo Horizonte is a bustling indoor market that offers a vibrant mix of food, crafts, and souvenir vendors alongside casual bars and restaurants. This modern city boasts a rich architectural heritage, including the Pampulha Modern Ensemble and Obras de Oscar Niemeyer.
The very best experience to understand and discover the local taste and culture. Being a Latino, some halls looked so familiar, I felt in Mexico, some others looked so Colombian or Ecuadorian... and of course, some felt a totally new experience and authentically local, 1000% Brazilian. Diversity as its best! Get lunch from the buffets with a nice portion of feijão and picanha, pared with a Brahma beer chopp. Then, look for a coffee with pão de queijo. And, since it is warm and humid, stop for a caipirinha, 500 ml or 1000 ml
Guillermo H — Google review
Mercado Central in Belo Horizonte is a vibrant and authentic experience you won’t want to miss! 🇧🇷✨ It’s the perfect place to explore the rich culture and flavors of Minas Gerais. From delicious cheeses, sweets, and artisanal cachaça to handmade crafts and souvenirs, every corner is full of charm. The friendly vendors and lively atmosphere make it a joy to wander through. Whether you’re shopping, tasting local treats, or just soaking in the vibe — this market is a true gem in BH!
Arto L — Google review
It's always a great experience to come here. They have numerous shops with food, drinks, and various products, from cheese, crafts, souvenirs, and much more. Try the local dishes, such as the "pão de queijo", "empada", etc.
Joao V — Google review
If you want to taste the soul of Minas Gerais, Mercado Central de Belo Horizonte is mandatory. Since 1929 this indoor market has occupied an entire city block and grown into a cultural hub with over 400 stalls offering food, crafts, produce, cachaça, and more. The tradition of Queijo de Minas, recently recognized by UNESCO as part of Brazil’s intangible cultural heritage, is everywhere. You will find every variation fresh, semi aged, and aged made and sold by local cheesemakers. Walking through the aisles, you see that this is not just commerce. It is a snapshot of Minas’s diversity, where vendors of Portuguese, African, and local heritage sell side by side. You hear local accents, smell roasting coffee, and taste sweets like doce de leite or goiabada. The number of micro bars and snack counters filled with locals eating feijão tropeiro, pão de queijo and having a beer shows how deeply this market is woven into daily life. What separates it from many Latin American markets is its cleanliness and organization. Floors are polished, stalls are tidy and vendors take pride in presentation. At the same time, it does not feel artificial. It still has that energy and authenticity that makes a market alive. Where it falls short is in the live animal section, which feels cramped, and the odd rule that bans bicycle parking even though the city promotes cycling. These are outdated issues that should be fixed. The structure itself has presence, with steel beams, high ceilings and historic character. In the 1960s the market faced closure but local merchants took control and rebuilt it as a covered space in just 15 days, keeping it alive for generations. Mercado Central is not just a food hall. It is a living panorama of Minas Gerais culture, flavor and identity. Whether you come for cheese, coffee, crafts or conversation, you leave feeling connected to Belo Horizonte’s beating heart.
Pedro A — Google review

The most fascinating place in town, a show in itself. The architecture is awesome, and the location, just on the brink of a lovely public garden, makes it a place to visit even without attending the performance. Great!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Mirante do Mangabeiras, located in Belo Horizonte, is a popular observation point that offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Initially established in 1976, it has evolved into a significant tourist attraction over the years. Accessible by both driving and hiking, this elevated site provides an ideal vantage point for capturing breathtaking sunset vistas and urban landscapes.
Free and open to the public. Very fun and cool ride up to the look-out in the first place. Pay attention to the awesome houses and first glimpses that you get of the skyline before getting up. At the look-out itself you have a wonderful view that all visitors to Belo Horizonte should take the time to see. The city is immense and it’s really cool to see it all laid out before you and the scope of the hills and all. Super cool. There isn’t anything else in the park right now so you can see it all as fast or as slow as you want.

Mirante do Mangabeiras is an absolute gem in Belo Horizonte! Located at the edge of the Serra do Curral, this scenic overlook offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city —especially stunning at sunset. It’s a peaceful and well-maintained spot, perfect for photos, relaxation, and connecting with nature. The walkway and viewing platforms are safe and accessible, and there’s often a refreshing breeze that makes the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for visitors and locals alike who want to experience BH from above!

Nice place to watch the sunset, rather simple and most of the time crowed, but the view is worth it.

We went here for a lovely end to the day during a birthday celebration for my husband - 30 years! It was so inspiring and beautiful. Everyone there was in awe of the cloud and the view created by the Almighty! The birds are singing, and there was a crowd of interesting black birds with red spots in their necks. It feels like nature can rest here! And we can, too. If you are looking for a peaceful addition to your date or family outing, look no further!

Very lovely and beautiful place, the view was gorgeous and we are able to see most of the city, the mist might have been heavy, but it was a very nice view, the pictures can be great, I totally recommend it especially in group.

Who doesn’t like view points !!! From this place we can visualize the city of Belo Horizonte and enjoy its view. We don’t need any tickets to purchase. It’s absolutely free. We cannot drive with car to this point; we need to park the car at the entrance and walk a bit. The sunset from this point will be stunning and worth the visit.

GREAT SUNSET VIEWS!!! If you want to get the views of entire Belo Metropolis area while enjoying the stunning sunset, this is the place for you. The park is open from Dusk to Dawn. The gated location is easily accessible by Uber followed by a short walk to the viewing area. There is no entry fee for the park! The area is clean, safe and family friendly. However the only thing missing is there are no food stalls. So plan to bring drinking water and snacks to enjoy with the view! There are public restrooms but those are not too clean either. Overall a little inconvenient but the views definitely make up for it!

Amazing views of the city, a taste of exclusive lifestyle passing nearby manicured villas, and an exhilarating zipline jump, for about R$60 if you dare! The Mirante is free to the public, had public bathrooms, and nearby vendors selling snacks and drinks. A very hilly climb up from the Parque das Mangabeiras, so drive, or wear comfortable shoes.

Sanctuary Caraça

Sights & Landmarks
Sanctuary Caraça is a serene 1774 church complex located in a nature reserve in Catas Altas. The area offers various leisure activities, including visiting churches and chapels, hiking trails with waterfalls, and exploring the sanctuary itself. Guests can enjoy complimentary meals served in the old monk's rooms while immersing themselves in the historical significance of the site. The tranquil grounds provide an opportunity to connect with nature and oneself, making it an ideal place for a peaceful retreat.
Truly a unique experience. What can I even say? Only spent a night here but everything was so great that I can't think of a single negative thing to say. The nature is amazing, the trails well-marked. The lodging is simple but charming. You get three wood fired meals a day which are all superb. The garden is gorgeous. The maned wolf showed up and it was surreal but did anyone mention the fricking capybara that lives right next to the place?? If you are in Minas Gerais for any reasonable amount of time, go here.

Beautiful monastery in the middle of the jungle. Not easy to get here without a car. Rooms are basic but some offer a great view. Might be worth asking at the reception if / when they are ready.
Maximilian S — Google review
Stayed 1 night here. It’s open to day visits but I wouldn’t bother with that, as wherever you set off from it must be a long drive in, and you don’t get to stay for a chance to see the maned wolves in the evening. Seeing the wolves is magical. Beautiful countryside location. Excellent trails for hikes up to 6km (12km out and back) without a guide, or further up onto the ridges with a guide. 3 good meals per day. Simple, clean rooms, in keeping with it being a religious sanctuary. Games room with a useable pool table. WiFi is decent in some parts of the premises. The church seemed quite nice to me; less garish than the others we saw in Minas, and this one has some nice stained glass windows. There’s a museum I didn’t go in. Highlights are the hiking, the nature, the food, and by a country mile: the wolves, which provide a truly incredible experience. We saw 1 wolf, a female, but apparently her mate visits too, sometimes. If you’d like a couple of tips, do read on. If not, now would be a good time to stop reading. 1-Bring some large bottles of water. There’s an empty fridge with most/all rooms. There’s a drinking fountain on site but the water is an unappetising yellow. Water is sold at a slight markup. 2-Do the Cruzeiro trail. It’s steep but short and finishes with an excellent view over the sanctuary. 3-Wolf watching: wolf down your own dinner then get outside and take the seat at the top of the steps. This should give you a chance to take some pictures of the wolf without other people in the background. It seems the wolf is quite likely to come when the food is first put out around 7:30pm. If you all get lucky and see the wolf nice and early, many tourists will go to bed and you can stay up and hope to see the wolf return when there are fewer people. I went back to the wolf area about 9:30pm and there were just 6 other people there. Unfortunately, 3 gents were standing at the top of the stairs having a loud conversation and blocking the wolf’s path. Another man was sat down coughing up a lung and periodically allowing loud bursts of noise to come from his phone. Rather than sit with buffoons, I decided to retire and come back after midnight, but I should’ve waited them out. Around 1am I was back out there alone and the guide came out and told me the wolf came back at 11:50pm, around half an hour after the chatty lads had gone to bed and the coughing man had died. I sat around until 1:30am but wasn’t lucky enough to get a private viewing. If I hadn’t had to drive the next day I might’ve sat up all night: it was a lovely temperature and no bother from insects. I’d consider 2 nights if I ever visited again. 4-If you can, visit on a weekday, when there will presumably be fewer tourists. I was there on a Wednesday and there were 30 of us, but I think the sanctuary has rooms for many more. Finally a tip for the sanctuary (I’m sure the staff will have read this far down): The guide needs to be out there with the tourists BEFORE the wolf comes! To say there were 30 of us, the behaviour wasn’t actually that bad, but still, tourists flouted the rules by standing at the top of the steps and talking too loud. When someone called out he could see the wolf, half the people started bouncing around, taking photos and talking in outdoor voices and scared the wolf off, while those following the basic rules (sit down and shut up) didn’t get to see a thing. Thankfully, the wolf came back when the guide came out with food, but if it hadn’t come back, someone would’ve got chinned. Probably the guy who let his phone alarm go off and sneezed wholesomely when the wolf was just plucking up the courage to climb the steps. Anyway, sanctuary folk, please, the guide needs to get out earlier and explain how to behave (even though written instructions are everywhere). It’s a brilliant place. So glad I got the chance to visit.

The reserve here is out of this world - extensive cerrado - trees and savannah, criss-crossed with rivers and waterfalls. Many short (up to about 6km) and longer trails with a guide. Incredible variety of landscapes, something different at every turn. All trails very well kept and signposted and easy to understand maps available. One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. A must visit place.
Paul D — Google review
The location itself is fabulous and really beautiful! The nature around the monastery is pristine and there are lots of birds and mammals. The monastery itself looks amazing. The rooms are a bit cold (it was winter when we visited), but it was comfortable. The thing we were surprised and really unhappy with was the plastic single-use by the hotel. Everything (!!!) is wrapped in plastic... The blankets are wrapped in plastic, the soap are small plastic bottles.. at the restaurant you have to take plastic gloves before going to the buffet, the cutlery is wrapped in plastic, coffee cups, desert cups, desert spoons etc are all wrapped in (single-use) plastic. One of the biggest problems in the world is pollution of nature by plastic, and especially in Brazil there isn't any good recycling system. We would expect a hotel who ask prices like this (about 100 USD$ a night) and who have a religious background to care more about the creation of the Lord. There are lots of good alternatives for all of these. Alcohol gel for the hands should be enough when going to the buffet, also when grabbing cutlery. Glass cups and normal spoons for coffee and desert... Soap dispensers in the shower etc. Really hope they change this, because the amount of waste that is created in this place was the worst we have seen in any hotel in Brazil after 2 months of travelling!
Rob — Google review
Beautiful place, not very comfortable, nice staff. If you plan to see the wolf (lobo guara), keep in mind it will NOT come while there are too many people around! They put out the food at 19:30, but because the people were talking loudly, it appeared only around 23h, and very briefly. If you come during the weekend, don't waste your time before everyone goes to bed. Rest and come around midnight, or wake up really early (5am) for a better chance to see it. Also don't be an idiot, don't use camera flash and make any noise whatsoever! It really is a magnificent animal and worth waiting for!

Amazing place in the middle of the nature! A little bit more expensive than a hostel but it's full board. The breakfast is the best I've ever taken in Brazil !!! Too bad that you need to contract a guide to access to the most interesting places. It's good to spend 2 nights. More if you can pay for a guide.

Cachoeira Grande is a stunning natural attraction located in Serra do Cipo, offering a sizable waterfall and a picturesque swimming area. The hiking trail leading to the waterfall is relatively easy, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. While there is an entrance fee, the beauty of the waterfall and the opportunity to swim in its waters make it well worth the cost.
This place is simply amazing! The waterfall is beautiful and has enough place to swim. Personally I liked a lot the other side of the waterfall, the Cipó river. So calm and peaceful! You can enjoy the river literally by yourself. To reach the big waterfall, you need to walk around 1km and the trail is very easy. Small kids and eldery people can do it easily. The entrance fee is 30 real but it is well deserved!

A lovely place. Swimming at the big waterfall was a lot of fun. Rocks we're a bit slippery but it was great on a warm day. Expensive but well maintained. That being said, we were told the price was because there was a lifeguard there to watch over us. We never saw him. I don't think there actually was one.

Great place to come to relax and have a day out with friends or family. The price is quite expensive R$30 each, so plan to spend the whole day. Bring your swimming gear as it's a good place to swim. Also bring a picnic but no BBQ's or alcohol.

Nice enough, but R$50 per person! and you have to fill in a form and have your bags checked to go in, more security than at the airport! Just to go into the state park, which has bigger and better waterfalls, for FREE and not bother with this place and it's greedy owners. How can they charge R$50 when the Sanctuario do Caraça, which is thousands of times larger and far more beautiful charge only R$25! Daylight robbery. I see some people here saying that if there was no entrance fee and it was not public it would be a mess. Well go look in the State Park, it is free and well kept and the staff are very friendly and helpful, not like the grumpy trio when we arrived, who did not even say good morning!

This entrance provides access to two main attractions, the Farofa waterfall and the Bandeirinhas canyon, a total of 29km of route - consider cycling, the trails do not offer secondary attractions and the sun is scorching. On the 2nd day we got lost (there is little signage) and were unable to see the Capão dos Palmitos waterfall, which they say is pleasant. I found the lagoons on the way to the Retiro entrance unattractive, in my opinion they are not worth the trip.

Cachoeira do Tabuleiro

Waterfalls
Considered the highest waterfall in MG, with a drop of 273m, Cachoeira do Tabuleiro is located in the district of Tabuleiro. The access to this tourist attraction is well-structured and visitors are advised to tread carefully on the rocks during their climb. The view from the upper part offers stunning scenery, with several pools available for swimming and relaxation throughout the day.
Wow... Amazing place for adventurers. Tabuleiros is one of the highest brazilian waterfalls (> 300 m). Access is easier from Conceição do Mato Dentro and you can park your car inside the park without difficulties. There are 03 different places to visit: - Mirante - you will just see the waterfall and is less than 10 min walking from the main entrance - Bottom - Around 30 minutes walking from the main entrance. You can swing on small lakes - Above - Around 240 minutes walking Don't forget your watter and reserve one day to visit Tabuleiros waterfall. Be careful during rain seasons!
Eduardo F — Google review
This waterfall is a gravity-defying spectacle. It's so tall, the water evaporates into a fine mist before it reaches the bottom, like a liquid ghost. The viewpoint, a leisurely 15-minute stroll, offers a truly breathtaking panorama. For the more adventurous, a 30-minute descent leads to refreshing swimming ponds, or a 3-4 hour hike will take you to the top. The hike itself is a decent workout, a 500-meter climb followed by a 300-meter descent, but nothing a moderately fit person can't handle. Just keep an eye out for the local creepy-crawlies. At the top, you'll find a series of inviting ponds perfect for a dip, cascading water flows for a natural massage, and deep pools for cliff jumping. If you're feeling particularly energetic, you can venture all the way to the edge, where the water begins its dramatic 250-meter plunge. The view from there is undeniably romantic, a vast expanse of rocky wilderness stretching into the horizon. Be prepared to hop across the river a few times to reach this hidden gem. Park rangers patrol the area, ensuring everyone's safety and enforcing the park's 5 PM closing time. They're also a reliable source of assistance if you happen to get lost or need help. The entrance fee is a mere 10 Brazilian reals, and seniors 60+ get in free. A word of caution: the top viewpoint is accessible by car from Tres Barras, but it requires a sturdy SUV or Jeep and involves a short but challenging 2 km drive across rocks and rivers. Not recommended for those with mobility issues.

(Translated by Google) Tabuleiro Waterfall, where the Earth whispers grandeur and the water sings freedom Not every place makes you feel so small. Tabuleiro Waterfall does. There, in the heart of Conceição do Mato Dentro, the water plummets almost 300 meters as if the sky were crying with calm, strength, and faith. It's the largest in Minas Gerais, but its size is only a detail: what truly impresses is the silence it imposes on our hearts when we see it up close. The trail to the base is a moderate adventure, with rocks, roots, and shade. It takes about 3 km of steps and sighs—but once you get there, time slows down. The pool is clear, deep, and wild. The waterfall vibrates in the air like a constant thunderclap. And there you are, just another small being before the immensity. If you want a more relaxed breath, the viewpoint is also worth every second. In a 600-meter easy hike, the view will leave you speechless. Whether high or low, Tabuleiro touches the soul. (Original) Cachoeira do Tabuleiro onde a Terra sussurra grandeza e a água canta liberdade Nem todo lugar te faz sentir pequeno de um jeito tão bonito. A Cachoeira do Tabuleiro faz.

Shopping
The GV Shopping mall in Sao Paulo may not be as expansive as other shopping centers in the area, but it fulfills its purpose efficiently. The stores within are contemporary and create a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. While the variety of shops may not be extensive, there is a possibility that they have all the items you require. Additionally, GV Shopping offers an enjoyable dining experience with various food options available and also provides a cinema for entertainment purposes. The mall's parking facilities are convenient and well-maintained.
It is good, there is nice place to eat, cinema and many shops. It is small but good! They have good parking.

GV Shopping is small when compared to shopping centres in São Paulo but it serves its purpose. The shops are modern and the ambience is quite pleasant. You won't find great variety but there's a chance they have everything you need.

Scenic spot
Mountains
Located in the eastern part of Minas Gerais, Governador Valadares may not be a major tourist destination itself, but it is surrounded by notable attractions such as the famous Pico da Ibituruna. The name of this peak originates from the indigenous Tupi language and translates to "black mountain," reflecting its dark-colored rocks at the summit. This picturesque natural wonder offers stunning views and is a popular spot for paragliding enthusiasts.
Most amazing mountain I have climbed in a long time! Landscapes are absolutely breathtaking and even better view when paragliding off the top ; )
Jc E — Google review
Ibituruna is a beautiful mountain for outdoor sports. You can fly paragliding, do rock climbing, repealing, mountain bike, downhill, trekking. Usually I hike up, I starts at Trilhas Bar and I take about 2h up and 1h20 down. It is 6.6km of trail, not too difficult and I recommend you take with you at least 2L of water and snacks because there is no site to buy it, and maybe when you be at the summit the only bar/store is closed. There is a site called Pedra da Fofoca is a point for beautiful photos so worth stop there, and then stop at Pedra do Rei Leão. If you do not want hike down you can fly a tandem paragliding flight and land in front of the Trilhas Bar or at the downtown. They offer bus midday driving down (must to check availability).
Ariana P — Google review
This is my second time here. The views never disappoint. The first time, I went paragliding, which is still available for those who wish to experience a gentle flying experience.

Pico do Ibituruna offers incredible panoramic views of Governador Valadares and the surrounding landscape. The top is easily accessible by car, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. A must-visit for anyone in the area!

Amazing view of the city ! Capital mundial of paraglided! Spiritual sanctuary! I enjoy about 6 hrs at the top of Mountain!
Fernandes S — Google review
This is an excellent view point to visit and gives unprecedented views of the city and surrounding country side. The road leading up is very steep and rough, so be prepared. But I believe there is also a bus service too. There is a great opportunity to para glide from the summit, which provides some of the best paragliding experiences in the world.

Itaúnas dunes

Nature & Parks
Itaúnas dunes, located within the 36.7-sq-km Parque Estadual de Itaunas, offer a stunning natural experience with its expansive sand dunes that reach heights of 20m to 30m and provide breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding mangrove forest. The park is home to diverse wildlife including monkeys, sloths, wildcats, and sea turtles nesting from September to March.
Calm, safe, beautiful views and good vibes!
Jean B — Google review
Such a wonderful natural place of beauty! To get to the beaches/restaurants, you have to go up a little hill of sand (through an opening off the main street) and then decend down and walk a little towards the direction of the water. On your way to the beaches, you will see a plaque describing the history of the old "vilas of Itaunas" and this sandy desert place is magical to take photos in. There is a choice of a few different cabanas or restaurants to hang out it, the food/drinks will be pricier than usual since this place is an attraction but it's nice to have this change of scenery not far for Vitória city center, so you get the city vibe as well as the nature retreat.

Praia Novo Prado

The Praia Novo Prado is a vast and spacious beach with powerful waves that vary depending on the day. It is not heavily crowded, which adds to its appeal. The beach itself is exceptionally beautiful and well-maintained. However, there is a section of the beach that has been taken over by affluent individuals who have built inns and houses along the shoreline, making it appear "private" and exclusive.

Parks
Abrolhos Marine National Park is a stunning destination that showcases the breathtaking beauty of marine life and vibrant ecosystems. This protected area features five islands surrounded by crystal-clear waters, making it an ideal spot for diving and whale watching. Visitors often rave about the friendly fish that seem unafraid of humans, creating perfect opportunities for underwater photography. While access can be tricky—especially if you're navigating with your own boat—the park rangers are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, enhancing your experience.
Beautiful marine park, the fish have no fear of humans and for photography it 's great. Access is a bit complicated and if you go with your own boat you are restricted to where you can stop and access to islands is off limits but the park rangers came out to meet us, were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and spoke various languages. Worth a visit!

We were in the water and on the boat for 2:30. 4 hours to get there and another 4 hours to get back. Full day 😁 My suggestion is not to buy this tour together with the accommodation. Leave it to settle there. The price is on average 320.00 with breakfast, lunch and snack. But the weather is very important for this adventure. Visitors are only allowed to disembark on Siriba Island. I only stayed for the photo very far from the island 🌴 😖😎😫. Wonderful diving! But for those who want to see whales 🐋 check the calendar👍🏽. It's not all year round.

Praia de Cumuruxatiba, also known as Praia do Pier, is a stunning destination with a tree-lined golden-sand shoreline that's perfect for swimming and leisurely walks. (Translated by Google) Beautiful beach. The town's main attraction is the inns and beachfront restaurants. There is a small square that opens at night with several stalls and a restaurant for snacks. Excellent beach for children, the elderly and those who don't like waves. There are SUP and kayak rentals. There is a fishing village nearby. The stalls are more expensive than the others in Prado. I recommend Binotto's, where the food is very good. I left Prado about 35 km away, which was a little rainy, and took 1 hour and 30 minutes. The road was made of sand due to the rain, and it was a bit tense because it was very muddy and full of potholes. If it rains, think twice about going. It passes by several beaches. There are some beautiful cliffs to take pictures of, including Praia da Amendoeira, which is fantastic. It is worth the stop. (Original) Praia linda. Saí de Prado em torno de 35 km, que estava um pouco chovendo, deu 01hora e 30 minutos. Estrada de chão de areia devido a chuva, foi um pouco tenso pois muita lama e bem esburacada.
