Luiz Argenta

Winery
Food & Drink
Wineries & Vineyards
Luiz Argenta is a must-visit destination for anyone, whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking to enjoy a beautiful day out. I scheduled my visit a few days in advance and was pleasantly surprised to join an exclusive tour not listed online, thanks to our group size. The vineyard itself is stunning, offering breathtaking views that enhance the experience of learning about wine production. During the tour, we explored the plantation and even had the chance to pick some grapes ourselves!
It's a great place to visit wether you like wine or not. We scheduled the visit a couple days before and because we were in a group we managed to get a tour that was not listed on the website. The vineyard is breathtaking and it's quite interesting to learn more about the wine production. We had a tour around the plantation and picked some grape. After that we had a picnic with cheese, fruit and wine. We also had the opportunity to visit the manufacturer and the wine cellar. There was also a tasting part in which we were blindfolded and savored some different sparkling wines. At the end, we had a lunch on the bistro.

(Translated by Google) I had an excellent overall experience at the winery. The tour was very well guided, and the views were truly breathtaking. The tasting areas were carefully organized, and I truly appreciated the quality of the wines presented. However, one aspect that compromised the experience was the presence of children, accompanied by other visitors, who ended up creating a lot of noise during the tasting. This made it difficult to fully appreciate the wine's notes, as there was constant noise and distractions. I understand that this is not a fault of the winery, but rather an external circumstance. However, this specific factor ultimately impacted my final rating. If it weren't for this, I would certainly give it full marks without reservation.

Ponte do Korff

Sights & Landmarks
The Ponte do Korff is an incredibly stunning piece of architecture, offering easy access both above and below to its pillars. The journey to reach Criuva is a smooth one, with well-maintained asphalt roads throughout. Although there is approximately 9 km of dirt road after passing Criuva to reach the bridge, it too is in excellent condition. The path leading up to the bridge itself offers a breathtaking visual experience.

(Translated by Google) The bridge is beautiful, and it really does provide some great pictures, but the bridge itself is quite dangerous. If you're going to cross it on foot, do it in the morning, just like if you're driving. Drive very slowly. Access is reasonable, as it's a good road. However, it's far from everything, including the lack of a mobile signal. But I recommend visiting.

(Translated by Google) In 1750, around September 8, a small and fragile image of Our Lady was found in a field that was being burned by a peasant. There are reports in history that in 1637, the Bandeira of Captain André Fernandes passed through the village with his son, Father Francisco Fernandes de Oliveira. However, there was another Portuguese caravan, that of Cristóvão Pereira de Abreu, who could have left the image here in 1738, when he opened the road for the troops to the Missions region. This hypothesis is the most likely. It certainly arrived in these lands by divine inspiration, through one of these caravans of muleteers, who must have possibly forgotten about it. Ever since the image was found, the people gathered to say prayers in their homes. In view of this and over the years, the population built a small temple, however, as the population and devotees grew, it was necessary to build another church. It was then that on December 20, 1768, Dom Antônio do Desterro (Bishop of Rio de Janeiro) created the Parish of Our Lady of Oliveira. From that time on, Our Lady of Oliveira has always been honored as the Patroness of Vacaria and the other 23 Parishes that make up the Diocese of Vacaria. Between the towers of the Church was the image of Our Lady of Oliveira, which was sculpted in the city of Caxias do Sul by the Michelangelo Zambelli Studio at the request of Nicolau Chedid, in view of a promise made for the health of his daughter. Weighing around 10 thousand kilos in an operation that lasted two days, the image, which was compromising the structures of the Church, had to be removed from the top of the Cathedral on December 24, 2010. In 2018, the 250th anniversary of the elevation of that small church to the title of Parish was celebrated. The Cathedral is open to visitors daily from 7am to 7pm.

International Friendship Bridge

Mentioned on
19 lists
Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The International Friendship Bridge is a 1,812-ft.-long arch bridge with a pedestrian path that connects the cities of Foz do Iguacu in Brazil and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. It symbolizes the union between the two countries and was constructed during the 1950s and 1960s over the Parana River. The bridge links Ciudad del Este to Foz do Iguazu and also shares a border with Puerto Iguazu in Argentina.
So fun to walk from one country to the next, not a far distance and wow! What an experience! I wouldn’t recommend going at night and not for inexperienced travelers.
Dana S — Google review
Walked to Paraguay from Brazil. If you're actually going to stay in Paraguay (and not merely shop there for a day), then be sure to get an exit stamp in your passport from the Brazil side of the bridge (Paraguay immigration will make you go back to Brazil if you don't have the exit stamp). Good views of the border river (Parana) from the bridge!
David G — Google review
I love the sunset and the show in the international friendship bridge 😁 The architecture is marvelous as well. It was a pleasant experience.
Agatha H — Google review
The bridge itself is nice but vehicular traffic was very bad going to Ciudad del Este. We crossed in a bus around 10AM on Thursday. Returning to Brazil by bus, the traffic was better.
Rick R — Google review
It got me to Paraguay and back. Use the right side of the bridge each way walking over. Locals don’t need to stop at immigration on either side but if you’re not local stop and get your Brazil exit stamp and Paraguay entry stamp, and the opposite in return. Brazil immigration was a little hard to find one booth serves both sides, Paraguay has a building on each side.
Collin — Google review
Most disgusting border crossing I’ve ever seen. Dirty, noisy, stinking and smelly. DISGUSTING !
JC C — Google review
I took an Uber to the bridge which cost me £3. I walked across the bridge with no problem. I’m a single middle-aged female on my own and no one troubled me. I did a little shopping and I came back again. I didn’t even make a stop at immigration nobody seemed interested. No problem. I got a cold beer near the bridge and I ordered an Uber back to my hotel, which cost me £2. I was advised to use the buses I didn’t get on with that because I couldn’t figure out which bus or how to pay
Maria B — Google review

After looking closely, we can see the lines of the bird that inspired the building. Very beautiful! 🕊️ (Original) Lugar para visitar e admirar. (Translated by Google) I lived in Curitibanos, Santa Catarina, as a child and had vague memories of the museum. Now, in January 2025, I was passing through the city and revisited the museum. The structure has been restored, and the environment is very clean and organized. There is no admission fee and the tour is guided by historian Antônio, which greatly enriches the visit, as the details and information about the pieces highlight their historical value. I recommend the visit to people who are interested in getting to know the city, understanding its characteristics and its importance to the state of Santa Catarina and the Contestado War. (Translated by Google) We took a tour, which included an explanation of the history of the place and the city, and two institutional videos. This surprised me, because I thought we would only see the inside of the theater and be able to take some photos. The story is captivating, and they tell the story of the siege of Lapa from the point of view of the local people. It is well worth it for those who enjoy cultural immersion. The theater itself is small, but very charming. And they say that the emperor himself visited the place.

(Translated by Google) The São João Theater is a true historical heritage site, impressive for its original architecture, almost entirely made of wood, which makes the place even more charming and authentic. One of the great landmarks in its history was the visit of Emperor Dom Pedro II, who watched a play there. His box, preserved to this day, is one of the highlights of the visit. The theater's well-preserved structure harks back to the past and is enchanting for its wealth of detail. The guided tour is very well explained, providing a true immersion into the culture and tradition of this unique space. The tour is not guided, but you can access all areas of the theater freely, including the box that D. Pedro II occupied during his visit to Lapa in 1880, and the stage. The only thing I missed was more information about the place, but it's still worth a visit! You must absolutely, without any hesitation or second thoughts, sample the costella dish at Vinícola Araucária winery. Having experienced my fair share of costella in various journeys across Brazil, I can confidently say that this hidden vineyard in the lush green hills of Parana takes first place. The costella is slow-cooked to perfection, adorned with a crispy and savory crust while remaining tender and moist on the inside - an unforgettable delight.
You have to absolutely without any hesitation or second thoughts try the costella dish. I have had my fair share of costella in my journeys throughout Brazil, and believe it or not, this vineyard hidden in the rolling green hills of parana takes the first place. Pefectly slow cooked, adorned with a crunchy and salty crust with a butter soft and moist inside makes this dish difficult to forget. Accompanied with a mandioca and a fluffy faroffa. The food was enjoyed with a home grown Anugustifolia Cabernet Sauvignon, which they grow right outside the restaurant. I Will definitely be back to try the costella, just to make sure it is as good as I remember... here are some pics to enjoy. Enjoy

(Translated by Google) It was a wonderful experience. The guided tour was very informative. I had several questions answered. Learning about the history of the place and tasting the wines and sparkling wines was incredible. We also stayed at the chalet, which is beautiful, but there was a problem with a sewage smell in the bathroom. When we turned on the bathtub, residue from the pipes came out, leaving the tub yellow. Another issue was that we had to call reception at night, but we didn't get an answer. We called five times because they had run out of toilet paper and the towels were very wet, and we wanted them replaced. We bought a Poty sparkling wine and were told we could ask for a bucket of ice to drink in the room at night, but we didn't get an answer. But the place is worth visiting for its history, beauty, and dedication to Paraná's culture.

(Translated by Google) A hidden gem in the heart of Paraná! During a trip to Curitiba, we decided to explore the region and visit Vinícola Araucária, located in the charming Colônia Murici, in São José dos Pinhais. It was one of the best decisions of the trip! The experience begins right on the way, with beautiful and peaceful scenery. Upon arrival, we were greeted with great warmth and organization. We opted for the guided tour, and it was a true immersion into the world of wine—from the vineyards to a thorough explanation of the production process. The structure is modern, well-maintained, and full of details that enhance local wine tourism. The tasting was impeccable: high-quality wines and sparkling wines, with a special mention for the Poty labels, which pay homage to the artist Poty Lazarotto. A beautiful celebration of Paraná culture. Afterward, we had lunch at Restaurante Gralha Azul, inside the winery. A sensational gastronomic experience! Well-prepared dishes, fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and an impressive presentation. All this with views of nature and a very welcoming country atmosphere. The rustic and elegant decor completes the atmosphere, and it feels like home. I also thought it was really cool that the winery supports cultural and artistic initiatives—something that further enriches the visit. If you're in Curitiba or the surrounding area, I highly recommend taking the time to visit Vinícola Araucária. It's a complete experience: nature, culture, good food, good wine, and wonderful memories. We'll definitely be back! 🍷🌿 (Original) Uma joia escondida no coração do Paraná! 🍷🌿

When you arrive, you'll notice it's a really pleasant place. But what caught my attention the most was the service. I was greeted by one of the owners, Mr. Adelar, and you can clearly see that he's someone who loves what he does. He and Beatriz, during the guided tour, were able to show us the history of the winery and how a good wine is made. Speaking of the restaurant, the service continued to be excellent and the food top-notch. I recommend that you visit and leave with your luggage full of memories, knowledge, and bottles of wine. I intend to return there during harvest time to see the laden vines up close.
