(Translated by Google) The worst experience I've ever had in Gramado. Starting with the staff, whose unspoken ill will... It started with "we're closed now" when I walked in the door. It just started with that, without a good afternoon or anything, right there at the door (which was open, by the way). I apologized and said I'd seen on Google that they'd be open. Then, they told me I could order à la carte, but not lunch. Do you understand why they didn't even let me in before trying to talk me out of buying? Who said I was looking for lunch? It seems they just want the customer to leave as soon as possible so they don't have to serve them. Unfortunately, such poor service in such a good location... disappointing. Since I was already there, I decided to eat (a terrible decision). They claim to be meat experts, but the meat was too dry. Unfortunately, it was terrible.

(Translated by Google) We ordered salmon with black rice and vegetables, and the salmon was incredibly dry; we couldn't even eat half of it, and the rice didn't seem fresh either. The music was great, but nothing improves bad food, not even excellent service.

(Translated by Google) Disappointing. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. The price wasn't very appealing, the buffet was all-you-can-eat but with limited options. According to the information, we were entitled to a grilled cut. Terrible. The meat was charred on the outside and tough, even though I'd ordered it "medium rare." To top it all off, a pagode group was singing at the top of their lungs (the sound was way above "pleasant") some of their hits, so off-key it was frightening. (Original) Decepcionante. Li as avaliações e resolvi testar.

(Translated by Google) We arrived with 6 adults and 2 children on a Saturday during a holiday. We understood that this would cause a wait, but we didn't imagine that it would take more than an hour for the food to arrive. More than 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive, and even then, they gave us a draft beer that we had been watching for more than ten minutes on the counter, now warm. The food on the menu is beautiful, but the actual food is terrible. Salad with so many leaves that there is no room for the other ingredients on the plate, completely unseasoned; empty that looks like anything but empty; super hard cassava, impossible to eat; 12-hour ribs, pure fat; a dish that never arrived. It was impossible to talk to any of the waiters while we waited, they walked quickly past the table without looking at the customers. When we got up to ask about our orders, they said they would check and didn't get back to us. Oh, and as for the price, they charge much more than what they offer. You can't say that it's a cheap place and that's why the service and food are terrible. Anyway, it was a terrible experience. I really hope they improve or change the management soon, because it's a great place for those who visit the beautiful Lago Negro.

Mentioned on

Garden
Nature & Parks
Le Jardin Lavanda Park is a beautifully manicured park featuring various species of lavender, a greenhouse, lavender gift shop, and a cafe. The park aims to showcase the therapeutic, ornamental, and culinary benefits of lavender properties. Visitors can explore rare flower species and different types of lavenders while enjoying the tranquil surroundings with stunning mountain views. Additionally, there's a restaurant on-site offering decent cuisine but some find it overpriced for the quality.
Nature and flower lovers, a must. It's one of the few "affordable" things to do in Gramado/Canela that's for nature lovers. Beautiful views of the ranges, flower beds along all the path and lots of places to sit and enjoy. Even my kids, 3 and 10, enjoyed the walk and open grass area to run around.
Jon B — Google review
R$20/person to enter. It’s a peaceful garden with great views of the mountain. I liked the landscaping. It has a decent recent restaurant with a gift shop. I ordered spinach and ricotta tortellini but it lacked flavor/spice/salt. Personally, I thought the prices were steep for the quality of food. The price of admission seems high for the size of the garden.

Gramado Zoo

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Gramado Zoo is a must-visit destination for an interactive and fun-filled experience with Brazilian animals. The zoo offers displays that replicate natural habitats, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to observe the country's diverse wildlife. It is a family-friendly place that stands out from other attractions in Gramado and Canela, offering an authentic encounter with the local fauna at a reasonable price. While some animals appear content in their environments, there are suggestions for improvements to provide larger spaces for certain species.
Best zoo experience of my life. I'm from Kansas EUA and I enjoyed seeing the native animals. They were very active the day we were there!
Rylan K — Google review
Nice zoo around the area that offers you something different than what is around Gramado/Canela for a good price compared to the rest. Most animals look happy, however, some others looked bored to be in a very small and limited area, like some monkeys, owls, felines. I’d love to see them in a bigger area. On the other side, birds looked happy and people are able to feed them paying 5.00 Reais extra at the end of the visit. The food court is nice, they have local food options like sugar cane juice and ice cream with flavors from the region. I’d visit it again and hope that they make some areas bigger for animals since they can’t go back to the wild. I enjoyed my visit.
Daniel P — Google review
One of the best zoos I've ever been too. If you're planning on going to Gramado, visit this amazing place.
Mia F — Google review
I visited this zoo 5 years ago and am very sad to see the poor maintenance and state this place has become now. At least 50% of cages and areas have their animals missing. Tried to reserve a vip visit 24 hours before visiting and had no online or telephone reply. When arrived we were offered a wheelchair instead of a guided electrical cart, to find out that most areas are NOT wheel chair accessible. Food offered at the premises like “natural fruit juices” are expensive and the only “natural” is that they are 80% water!!! In resuming, a very poor customer service experience, not worth the entrance + parking fee. Very deteriorated no maintenance premises….seems to be running out of maintenance funds. A frustrating day in what was supposed to be a nice experience for my 18 year old niece coming back from cancer.
Guillermo H — Google review
Best Zoo, real experience compared to Européen zoos!
Isabela F — Google review
The animals are great and the zoo is well kept but the ticket is expensive costing 60 reais per adult. To make matters worse they charge 10 reais for visitors for parking and another 10 reais if you want To use a stroller. It is absurd that the zoo won't offer these items to customers being that the entry ticket is already high. They have a huge empty parking area! Not recommended!
Jonatas S — Google review
Large jungle cats were in tiny enclosures despite the vacant lots throughout the zoo. There is plenty of room to expand the habitats. It was heartbreaking to watch the pumas pace back and forth, they’ve lost their minds.

Winter-themed park with an alpine-style village & an indoor, snow-covered hill for skiing & tubing.
Expensive and super worth it, we went for the skiing experience and you have to pay separately for the entrance ticket and the rentals to ski or snowboard. Classes are available and all the instructors were really kind and fun! There was a skate show too that was super fun, and lots of other activities. Wear layers and I would recommend doubling your socks. Best experience in Gramado/Canela
Grace G — Google review
Unfortunately this place isn't as organized as before and the long queues til you enter and get dressed takes much of the vibes away. Also, now you gotta PAY to leave your shoes stored and have to take another queue for that.
Sergio S — Google review
We didn’t expect that we were able to Ski and Snowboard in Brazil. We can enjoy it with artificial snow. We can rend cloth, shoes and grove to do snow tube slider. And if we pay additional fee, we can Ski and Snowboard. We can also rend Ski and Snowboard tool. On the weekend, there will be very crowded. So you need to buy entrance fee by interest in advance.
Papipupenta — Google review
The park is really nice, especially for kids. However, when it's too crowded it's not well organized. We had to wait over an hour just to get dressed in at least three different queues. It can be confusing.
Jorge S — Google review
great place. lots of fun but my 6 year-old wasn't tall enough to even ice skate
Kevin S — Google review
Awful experience during the school holidays. Heavily overbooked, super long queues, uttet chaos when having to find clothes, boots and gloves. Few staff members and management on site to help. And when we managed to get to the 'snow' after 2 hours, we went tubing once because the queues were so ridiculous. So then we thought we'd go ice skating, to find that the last time was 4.30pm. Utter waste of money and will never return.
Gemma F — Google review
We arrived on a low season period and once at the door we were approached by two employees with badges of the place saying that they were putting us all through the “event”, because the place was full. The “event” was them trying to sell us a time sharing. Nothing against them selling this, but what bothers a lot is them LYING saying is full so they can get our data. When we found that out, we just said no and asked to buy a regular ticket to go in and there was NOBODY on the line of cashier number 5 where they sell regular tickets for people who do not want to buy their time sharing. Inside the place, as we expected there were not many people, but the attractions had very confused rules, some they said kids needed to have at least 1,15m but nobody was reinforcing it, while in others they were turning kids out for 1 centimeter. The restaurant on the 2nd floor was almost empty but they not only took a long time to bring our food but also made a mistake on our order. We felt really disrespected at the front door as we were lied by official employees and the confuse rules and bad service at the restaurant
J. L — Google review
I was happily impressed by this place! Staffs is well trained and is organized so clients could invest the time in the fun without jeopardizing the safety!

This place is an Outlet, a real one. The structure, the disposition of the buildings, stores and food courts follows the same rules of those are there in U.S. Good place to shopping

Nice outlet but some shops the prices are the same as Main Street
Vinicios M — Google review
Reasonable prices, not that attractive. Too hot, the place requires more trees and plants to be more pleasant. Or change the whole buzz for a closed/indoor place, a.k.a. mall.
Rodrigo F — Google review
A lot of shoes, that's what this shopping centre is about. The outlets are not as cheap or as discounted as they should be though, given the outlet name. It has a good food court. It has free parking.

Legal!

I recommend this place for a big choice of shops of local and international brands, where you can find a good quality stuff in affordable prices, even comparing to Europe, these prices are very fair.

Seems too big from outside but it has not too many options. Rather expensive as well
Lean — Google review
This is an open shopping mall, so I don't recommend to go when it's raining. There are many good stores, but some are expensive even it's supposed to be an "outlet".

It may be because I am comparing this shopping centre to the ones in Australia, but it is quite small. I’d say there are enough shops to cover the basics of what you would need, but I expected a lot more clothing stores. Food stores don’t open until close to lunch and if you are English speaking and don’t know much Portuguese, make sure to have google translate ready, as almost no one speaks English. Not a big deal though! Staff were more than happy to converse using the google translate app.

Superb venue, home of the Gremio Football Club. Watching a live game there is a pure pleasure. Big attraction for both football fans as well as "normal" tourists or visitors to Porto Alegre. Obrigado!

- Bad service inside the stadium. - Ugly lawn, and fans that don't sing. - I do not recommend tourists to this place, they have already been demoted three times.

The market is known for its Brazilian food and crafts.
Lovely old fashion building done in the format of many european markets with lots of well stocked stalls from the mundane to great delicatessen. Worth a visit plus make sure after this you walk towards the river where you can take catamara to Barra Shopping or to Guati for just over 10R or else an hour trip looking at all tourist sights with a different company for 30R cash or 35 if you pay with credit card. Either worth making the time to do as gives you a unique perspective of this gorgeous clean air city.

Old building very not well taken care of. There are independent fish markets (complete with the authentic Yelling) and health food stores, but the rest is mediocre cafes, overpriced sit down food, mediocre padarias, insanity of panhandling and graffiti outside. It's a beautiful and quite big park. Locals love to go on weekends and I would recommend to tourist do the same. The park is fun this days when is full of people, but can be quite dangerous the other days of the week. Here you can be robbed even with violence, so try to not go alone. Same applies to the city in general. Try to stay just were is other people and you will see just the nicer face of the city.

Very very beautiful place. Located just next to the Santa Thereza park, its hidden away in nature. You'll notice it is on top of a slightly lifted point, which is a rare thing to find in this part of the country since most of the area is flat. There is a small entrance fee to pay before getting in and of course you will have to leave your pet at the door or your car. The walls are not so high but very strong and thick. The place is very well maintained. We did not have a guide but almost everything you need to know is written in all the rooms and walls where the history is well guarded, that's if you can read Spanish of course. You can talk walks on both the upper and lower floors seamless. The place has the canons which were used in position. You will also find a lot of the uniforms that were used by the earlier Spanish armies intact and well maintained, from as early as 1888. The place has a few replicas like swords and knives, and many of the ones used originally. The most interesting view of all i believe were the toilets that were used. You will notice the stool just used to fall outside as one eased themselves. I do not know if that was a defense tactic too. There are actual rest rooms to use right outside the fort. Inam certain anyone would enjoy a visit at the fort.

The Fortress of Santa Teresa, constructed in 1762 to protect the region from Portuguese invaders and subsequently restored in 1923, is a significant historical site. This well-preserved stronghold showcases artifacts, cannons, and imposing walls that make it worth visiting. However, the main attraction lies in the breathtaking national park surrounding it. A perfect place to connect with nature and enjoy the view of some sea lions, while sitting on some stones. Really beautiful place, loved it there. Beautiful sunsets as well and the stars in Cabo Polonio are just so amazing! I wish I could have stayed there longer just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Cabo Polonio definitely was one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful place I’ve been to in Uruguay. If you are thinking of going there, do it! It is definitely worth it! I know it is hard to forget about your busy life and to shut off your phone and relax (did not have service there anyway) but try and do it and you will not regret it!

Amazing place with breath taking view. Entry fee - 35 peso Time - 9:30 am to 4:30 pm - You need to climb 200 stairs to reach the top. Steps are stiff and it's better if kids avoid this. - Entire cabo village with both side beaches can be seen from the top. - You really can enjoy watching the sea lions swimming in sea. - Be cautious to the strong wind up there while taking selfie with your mobile phone. If you are spending a night in cabo, it's 100% recommended to enjoy at least 30 mins in faro.

Lighthouses
El Faro del Cabo Santa Maria, a stunning whitewashed lighthouse completed in 1874, stands as a testament to the transformation of La Paloma into a charming resort town. Despite its rocky beginnings—an initial structure collapsed during a storm, tragically claiming the lives of several workers—the lighthouse has become an iconic landmark. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from its balcony for just 30 pesos.
Incredible view! Plus, get some exercise done on the way up 😂 Pay attention to when it’s open, because it’s very limited Even if you don’t get to go up, it’s a great sight, and the sea lions lie behind it in the rocks, so it’s a must
Rafael O — Google review
For a fee of $35 per person, visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse and experience the views that offer a panoramic perspective of the surrounding landscape.
Eric S — Google review
If you are in the area, visiting and climbing the lighthouse is well worth it on a nice day. The views are amazing. Around sunset if it is open, would be the best.

Beautiful view of La Paloma. Picture and information on the ground floor is interesting as well. If you have the ability wait for a day when the wind isn't that strong.
Paul S — Google review
I've been visiting this place since i was a kid. Only 8yo+ allowed. The way up is as easy as it gets for a lighthouse. If you're claustrophobic the initial steps may bother you, but after those, the stairs are very spacious. Up there in the balcony there's a great 360 view, and super windy.
Manuel R — Google review
Opened till sunset, "puesta del sol" which is interpreted by the 'boss' there as "kick out all tourists 20 minutes before sunset, i want to go home".. The younger employee wanted to let us up but was not allowed to. Other tourists that were already upstairs were called down 15 min before sunset. All were mad about this bulls*it... Lighthouse is nice from outside.

lovely pics along the way! Try different angles!

Beautiful view of the whole surrounding for less then 1$ a person, 30.pesos. climbing is a bit exhausting if someone not in shape. Another thing need to mention is the the distance between the rail shelves is too wide, and my slim daughter could easy slip between. Other then that, its a great experience.

Bodega Garzón

Hotel
Bodega Garzón is a stunning winery and restaurant offering breathtaking vineyard views, cellar tours, and wine tastings featuring a variety of red, white, and sparkling wines. Visitors can indulge in the Cooking Experience which includes a tour of the winery followed by a hands-on meal preparation session. The architecture and sustainability efforts at the winery are highly impressive. Guests rave about the Albarino wine and enjoy delicious meals with picturesque views.
What an amazing place, with its impressive architecture, incredible facilities, and efficient wine-making processes. Similarly, the culinary production is outstanding. On top of all that, the excellent service and friendly staff make it even better. If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to visit. Many thanks to everyone who made my visit so wonderful.

Nice location but by far below expectations, those price would require a higher quality. So many waiters and a mediocre service. Top olive oil surprisingly above expectations!
F Z — Google review
The views and esthetics of the building and property are amazing, but we weren’t impressed with the tour we went on. We signed up for the Spanish tour but when we arrived they said only English & Portuguese were available (in Uruguay!), they seemed a bit disorganized, started late, and didn’t have the depth of information or wine tasting we are used to receiving on a tour. Overall it wasn’t very professional and I don’t think it was worth the long drive on mostly dirt roads to get there.
Colette F — Google review
Overpriced and overrated. We drove 1h extra to visit this place. When you arrive there is a guarded fence when they ask your name and if you are on the list. So unnecessary. The staff was amazing. Kind and warm. But with this kind of restaurant i would expect top notch service. Empty glasses were left on the table far too long. We had 2 empty glasses and 1 with wine each at one point. Food was ok. But not up to our expectation. I dont mind paying for for good food and wine but this was simply insulting! Unless you want to play big shot and be seen with wannabe posh people I would avoid…
Justine P — Google review
The experience offered is elite level, the chef and team are amazing, the sommelier is quite prepared, facilities are incredible and the view from the restaurant and fire kitchen are unbelievable. Totally worth it.
Ricardo W — Google review
My recent visit to Bodega Garzón in Garzón was an absolute delight! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the stunning scenery and the warm hospitality of the staff. The tour itself was informative and engaging, providing a fascinating glimpse into the world of winemaking at Bodega Garzón. A special thanks in this regard to our guide, Emiliano. Excellent is not enough to describe your knowledge and how he conducted our group. The wine tasting elevated the experience as well. Each sip was a revelation, showcasing the exceptional quality and unique character of their wines. The pairing with cheese, bread, and olives perfectly complemented the flavors, creating a truly memorable culinary journey. I left Bodega Garzón feeling both informed and deeply satisfied. If you're looking for an unforgettable wine experience in Uruguay, I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary.

Some information that might be useful: -You MUST have a reservation to one of their experiences in order to enter this place. A couple hundred meters from the main buildings there's a fence with a guard that will block you if you don't have one. They will not allow you to just show up to buy a bottle wine, or take pictures. Also, internet connection there is quite bad and it'll be a hassle to make a reservation on the spot. -They are NOT pet friendly. The guard told us that we could enter if we made a reservation on the spot but our dog wouldn't be allowed to leave the car, even though some of the experiences they offer are outdoors. Go figure. -If you really want to visit but have some questions, contact them very early on because they take a long time to answer. We tried calling, email and Instagram, they answered one of our questions over IG after 3 days.

A fantastic place, both for its modern architectural design harmoniously integrated into the landscape, and for its exceptional wines. The culinary experience is equally remarkable. A highly recommended destination.

Nestled in the stunning Lavalleja region of Uruguay, Salto del Penitente is a captivating destination that showcases nature's beauty through its impressive waterfall and serene mineral pools. This large state park offers visitors an array of trails that lead to breathtaking mountain views, small waterfalls, and inviting natural pools perfect for a refreshing dip. Adventurous souls will find plenty to do here, from rock climbing to horseback riding, making it an ideal spot for thrill-seekers.
Fabulous views. The drive is amazing. If you love the outdoors a must visit. Pack a picnic and spend a few hours.
Aida P — Google review
Our visit to Salto del Penitente was nothing short of an adventure! With six friends, we explored this breathtaking spot, and it definitely delivered on excitement. The highlight was the ropeway—an exhilarating ride that added a rush of adrenaline to the scenic beauty surrounding us. One thing to note: the network is unreliable, so carry cash for payments. While cards are accepted, if you need to do a bank transfer, you’ll have to connect to Wi-Fi from a nearby location where you book the ropeway. The staff handling the ropeway were very helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. For food, the Parador restaurant is a great stop, offering a solid menu with good options. It’s the perfect place to recharge after your adventures. However, if you're heading to Agua del Penitente, be extra cautious—the road is slippery. Unfortunately, we witnessed someone take a serious fall, which was a stark reminder of how important it is to watch your step in these rugged areas. Despite the few challenges, this place is packed with adventure, making it a fantastic destination for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike. Highly recommended for those looking for an exciting and scenic getaway!

One of the best nature spots in the country. Beautiful waterfall that runs through a rock channel into a pond with hills all around. Great spot for a picnic, to relax, or do some of the activities they offer.

With a beautiful lake and wonderful waterfall, Salto del Penitente is a gorgeous site to visit while in Uruguay. The hike to the different locations on the site is short, yet a bit steep to go to the waterfall. There are also zipline attractions in the site, though a very short glide.

Beautiful place, full of nature, amazing landscape, great for adventurous people, beautiful sightseeing. Great for families, not accessible for people on wheelchairs. There's food and shelter. It has a couple of attractions like zipline and others. Not dangerous at all.

Playa Vik Jose Ignacio is a luxurious and modern hotel that opened in 2009, offering refined quarters, a gym, a restaurant, and an outdoor pool. It is situated on the coveted point of Playa Mansa with a stunning 75-foot infinity pool made of Uruguayan black Absolute Nero granite overlooking the ocean. The internationally acclaimed architect Carlos Ott designed this glamorous hotel. Guests can enjoy beautiful sandy beaches, excellent service at La Susana restaurant, and well-kept surroundings.
My stay at Playa Vik José Ignacio was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was in awe of the architecture—this place is an absolute architectural marvel. Sleek, art-filled, and effortlessly sophisticated, it’s truly a design lover’s dream. I stayed in the Fuerteventura Suite, which overlooks both the infinity pool and the ocean. Waking up to that view felt like living inside a dream. The bathtub alone deserves its own mention—spacious & sculptural. At night, the pool becomes pure magic—glimmering with twinkling lights that reminded me of a Rolls-Royce starlight ceiling. It truly felt like the stars had descended into the water. As someone with dietary restrictions, I was thrilled to find that everything at the hotel is gluten-free (except for a cute little “gluten corner” at breakfast that made me smile). The food was delicious, nourishing, and beautifully presented. The staff made the experience even more memorable. Always smiling, kind, and eager to help—they really make you feel at home. Walking along the beach each day was deeply soothing, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover Vik Bahía just a few minutes away by foot. I visited their wellness center, The Shack, and loved every moment there. Although La Susana was closed during my visit, everyone I’ve spoken to insists it’s the place to go—so I’ll definitely be back to experience it. Highly recommend Playa Vik to anyone seeking beauty, serenity, and inspiration in one of the most special corners of the world.

I desperately wanted to love this hotel but despite the great futuristic design, beach front location and spacious suites , it really felt like the property was neglected and only had a few staff members for the whole place (often resulting in whole areas being unattended), as well as ongoing construction work while we were there. Furthermore, our 1,000$ a night suite had a broken air conditioning system and the heating couldn’t be turned off either so it got to the point where we couldn’t stay inside without the front door open to let air in. Things got worse as on the second evening the blackout blinds in our room stopped working and it turned out they had been disabled by the staff earlier that day without anyone telling us. Thankfully another suite next door was available for us to move into. I’ve attached photos of both rooms but also of the lack of attention to detail when it comes to keeping the hotel at a level where it’s worth the price. Also: I’d love to see more options on the breakfast menu(so far only eggs available) and in general food quality should be improved. Gym needs renewing too. Equipment is rusty and very old. What I liked was the sunsets over the pool, the layout of the suites, the quality of bathrobes/ slippers / toiletries provided and how nice the staff were , you can tell they work hard.
