A tranquil temple slightly away from Kasargod town. As we step into the temple premises there is an instant calm that settles in you. A beautiful experience. Do not miss the sannidhis near the dining hall. I have heard that the annadaanam here is very good.

A must visit temple. It's near Kumbala in Kasaragod dist. About six km from Kumbala railway station. You will get Autos from station for about Rs. 130-140. The temple closes after "Ucha pooja" at 12:30pm and after that there is Anna prasadam, very delicious veg lunch. There is guest house also. Those who want to stay can book by calling to the temple office.

This is a unique Hindu temple in Ananthapura, only temple built in the middle of a lake in Kerala. 👍 The main sanctum is surrounded by a rectangular lake, access to the sanctum is via a footbridge on the eastern side. The temple welcomes all visitors regardless of faith who are respectful and mindful of the sacredness of the place. Dress code - Men need to remove the shirts / T-shirts before entering sanctum area (you can remove and keep them with you). Women are expected to wear Saree, salwar Kamez, or long skirts. Avoid sleeves tops, short dresses or tight western wear. Puja tokens are issued near the entrance counter The lake seems to have a Vegetarian Crocodile 😀 we couldn’t see though. Footwear must be left outside the temple like any other temple. (No shoe racks) Photography inside sanctum not allowed. There’s enough parking space for two and four wheelers outside. Few shops in parking area to buy any puja items.

This temple holds immense spiritual importance as it is believed to be the Moolasthanam (original seat or source) of the much larger and famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The legend centers around the great sage, Divakara Muni Vilwamangalam, who was performing penance here. Lord Vishnu appeared before him as a mischievous child, whom the sage, annoyed by the pranks, chastised and pushed away. The child vanished into a cave, proclaiming that the sage would find him again at 'Ananthankadu' (the forest of the serpent Anantha). This cave is still visible near the lake, and the sage's subsequent journey led him to Thiruvananthapuram, where the massive Padmanabhaswamy Temple was eventually established. The Deity and Spiritual Core The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his non-reclining form, Ananthapadmanabha, The main sanctum is built on a rock structure in the center of a large rectangular lake (known locally as the kottaram). The architecture follows the classic Kerala style, blending seamlessly with the serene natural environment. The Lake and Its Divine Guardian The most famous and unique feature of the temple is the natural lake and its resident 'divine' crocodile, Babiya. Legend holds that Babiya is the guardian of the temple and is a strict vegetarian. While we visited the temple, the famous crocodile, sadly, remained elusive. We could not find the crocodile on this visit, but the large pond did host several fishes, which were cool to watch as they darted through the water. The Ambience: A Cool Midday Retreat We visited the temple around 12:00 PM in the afternoon, which might typically be the hottest time of the day. Surprisingly, the atmosphere was exceptionally calm and refreshing. The traditional architecture, the lush surroundings, and the cooling effect of the water all contributed to a wonderful, cool vibe. It was a serene and welcoming experience, making the midday journey completely worthwhile. Accessibility and Tips The temple is located approximately 14-16 km from Kasaragod town. It is easily reachable by road. Timing: Check timings before visiting, as like many temples, it closes for Ucha Pooja (midday worship). Visiting around 12:00 PM might mean you arrive just before the closing.

Things to consider, bekal Fort and park is filled with couples. You might feel embarrassed if you go alone or with your children. Bekal Fort is a must-visit gem in Kasargod! The old colonial-style fort is beautifully constructed, and walking through its massive walls gives a glimpse of history and architecture that has stood strong for centuries. The fort itself is well maintained and offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Right next to it is Bekal Beach, which is clean, lively, and very happening. There are plenty of small stores and eateries around, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the fort. The sunset view from both the fort and the beach is simply spectacular. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting North Kerala!

Bekal Fort is one of Kerala’s most impressive and beautifully maintained historical landmarks by ASI. 👍 Got famous after a Movie song in film (Bombay) 🎥 The entry / parking can be better managed, had to wait on the road for 20-25 minutes inching from main road to parking lot. Parking charge is Rs.40 Entry Tickets to be bought at the counter opposite to the main entry to port (Rs.25) Spread over 40 acres, it’s the largest fort in Kerala, built in the 17th century by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty. Later, it came under the control of Tipu Sultan and the British — each era leaving its mark on the fort’s architecture and story. Prepare for long walks and inclined climbs in watch towers. Scenic views of the sea and nearby beaches and town views, worth it. There are stone benches to sit / relax. Could see drinking water taps at few places. There are couple of small shops selling ice cream, juices and water, packed chips, etc. Best part is on the west side sea viewing point (going down stairs) and watching sunset. There are places to sit and also go up to the final watch tower where the waves hit against. Around 5:45-6 the guards keep whistling to get the people out 😀 There are small sandy beach areas besides the port but access is restricted, though could see few people. Sea is rough so not recommended to venture. Overall a great place to spend few hours and take pictures 👍

Incredible fort. The entry fee is Rs. 25. This fort offers breathtaking scenic views. We arrived early in the morning, and the central area was peaceful. Upon reaching the viewpoint overlooking the beach, the sight was stunning, and the gentle sea breeze was calm and soothing. Overall, it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

Visited Bekal Fort recently — it’s a beautiful historic place with a stunning sea view. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for an evening visit. The fort area is well maintained, though it can get quite hot during the day, so sunset time is best. Nearby, there’s an ANERT EV charging station, which was very convenient for charging my electric car. Food options are limited (mostly ice cream and water), but overall it’s a must-visit place in Kasaragod! 🌊🏰⚡

Children – No western wear. - After Darsan, you can visit the Anna Prasada Hall and have temple food here. - Overall Darsan may take anytime between 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on the day and time you visit the temple. - If you have the time, visit the Netravati river and perform river bath before having the Lord Manjunatheswara Darsan. I recently visited Dharmasthala, and it was a peaceful and divine experience. The temple is well-organized, clean, and beautifully maintained. The atmosphere around the temple is very positive, and the architecture adds to the spiritual feel of the place. The free Anna Prasada (meals) is served with a lot of care, and the food is simple, tasty, and satisfying. Parking and facilities are well arranged, and the entire area feels safe and visitor-friendly. Overall, a must-visit temple for anyone traveling around the region. Note :- Avoid weekends

There is drinking water facilities too and stores which sell eatables. Room is also equipped with TV. - Darshanna was quite good compared to before days. - Parking facilities are available - The Annaprasadam dinning hall also is so good and systematically arranged, one should not miss it.

Difficult to find rooms but the cost is affordable to all. Long wait for darshan. Recently they made resting areas during the queue like tirupati. Clean floors. Better to visit in the early morning to avoid rush. We entered at 6.30 am and came out at 7.30 am.

This is the sacred birthplace of River Cauver. This place has a panoramic view. The drive from Baghmandala to Thala Kaveri is panaromic. River Kaveri is wife of Agyasthiyar Rishi also known by name Lopamudhra. There is no cost/ ticket to dip in holy Cauvery starting point Kund. One can offer some dakshina to the preist there who will happily do basic pooja. Beside the Kund, there are dress changing room separate for men and women. Also to mention free slipper stand and toilet are available as one enters the shrine Gate. First time when I went to Cauvery Kund, there were lot of tourist from north taking holy dip. But, the second time I went in September, during rainy season. Very few tourists came. the Kund had freezing water and the dip in Cauvery, is etched to my memory for life long. After taking holy dip and changing dress; perform pooja to Kaveri with preist. Then go up 20 steps, to visit 3 temple built. The Shiva linga is the one worshipped by Saint Agastya rishi.

We reached here during afternoon time so the temple was closed. Timings: 6:30am-1:30pm to 3:00 pm-8:30 pm We visited a beautiful clean lake just situated opposite of the temple. (Swimming is not allowed) There is a beautiful newly built garden and linga and gods statues.

The abode of both Vishnu, and Shiva in a single temple is indeed a very rare didn't to behold. A serene temple to go to. It sits across the Triveni sangama, the merger place of three rivers. With Talakaveri in its background, the temple is the epitome of peace. It really personifies the calmness that one seeks when visiting a temple.

We visited on saturday, very less crowd. Temple cleaning was taking place when we reached. The temple priest was very interactive and explained about the temple and it's architecture.

Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple Also known as Bhagandeshwara Kshetra, Sri Bhagandeshwara temple is situated at an elevation of 898 meters, at the Bhagamandala village in Coorg, which is also famous for the Triveni Sangama, a popular sightseeing place in a Coorg tour. This temple is primarily dedicated to Lord Bhagandeshwara, a form of Lord Shiva. However, idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Narayana and Lord Subramanya have also been kept and worshipped in this temple. Although there is no information on the exact date and time on the construction of the Sri Bhagandeshwara temple and other temples around this area, it is considered to be more than 1000 years old. It is said that this temple was built during the Cholas dynasty. It presents a Karavali (west coast) architectural style, with a gabled roof. As per the few historical records which are available, this temple has undergone renovation in 1790 AD, during the reign of Maharaja Veera Rajendra Wodeyar who was the then King of Kodagu. This temple is located quite close to the Triveni Sangama which is the meeting point of three holy rivers namely River Cauvery, River Kanika and River Sujyoti. History of Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple Skanda Purana, a holy text belonging to Hindu religion, mentions the temple and the legend behind it. As per the legend, Bhaganda Kshetra which was the ancient name of Bhagamandala, a great saint Sri Bhaganda Maharshi used to reside in his ashram located at this place. The name Bhagamandala has also been derived from the sage’s name. It was nice visit to this spiritual place. Went along with my friends. This place has very different vibe all together. Mighty Kumar Parvat is being visible. Went on Saturday evening had our prasad which took around 1 hour including wait & taking of prasad. Faced issues while getting guest house of Temple trust (book in advance) availability on weekends or festive season will be a issue. Took hotel outside. Darshan: went at temple at around 0600hrs and waited in a que till 0700hrs. Darshan started at 0700hrs & by 0740hrs we were out. Cons: Temple committe should work ok Maintaining the cleanliness of prasad house Overall experience was nice.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Kukke Subramanya Temple, one of the most divine and scenic temples located in the lap of the Western Ghats. The temple is beautifully built in traditional South Indian architectural style, with intricate wooden carvings and a peaceful ambiance. The main deity here is Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya), worshipped as the protector from serpent doshas. You can also have darshan of Vasuki, the serpent god, and other shrines like Adi Subramanya, Ganapati, and Uma Maheshwara within the temple premises. - The darshan queue is well-managed, on weekdays it takes about 30–60 minutes, while on weekends and special days it may take longer. - There are options for free darshan as well as special darshan tickets (₹50–₹200) for quicker Darsan. - The Anna Prasada (free meal) served by the temple is simple, delicious, and very well organized. - Timings: Generally, darshan is available from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM. - Ample parking space is available near the temple at a reasonable charge. - Numerous shops selling pooja items, prasadam, and local snacks are available right outside. - Several lodges and restaurants nearby offer decent accommodation and food options. We felt energised after visit to Kukke Subramanya temple. The kumaradhara river with rituals of placing flat stones in a pile in the river and on river bank. There are temples of Anjaneya, Ganapati and Vana Durga on the road to Subramanya temple. The road from Mangalore to Kukke has improved and further works are in progress.

Jeep ride to the top costs around 2500/- fits 6-8 people. Off road is really tough and doable by 4x4 and very experienced bikers. Not recommended to visit this place by own vehicle in monsoon.

Mandalpatti is an absolutely beautiful place and a must-visit if you’re in Coorg! The view from the top is breathtaking – you literally feel like you’re standing above the clouds. The off-road jeep ride to reach the viewpoint was an amazing experience by itself, super fun and adventurous. Totally worth the trip – go early in the morning to enjoy the cool weather and catch the misty hills. A perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers!

Mandalpatti View Point is one of the best spots to enjoy nature and breathtaking mountain views near Coorg! The jeep ride to the top is an adventure by itself — bumpy but totally worth it once you see the clouds and greenery all around. The weather is cool and refreshing, making it a perfect escape from city life. Only suggestion: the road could be better maintained, but the view makes you forget everything. A must-visit for nature lovers and photographers! 🌄🚙

Chelvara Waterfall is absolutely stunning! 🌊✨ The view is amazing, surrounded by lush greenery that makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers. The sound of the water and the peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Coorg. Must-visit if you’re in the area! 🌿

This waterfall can be considered more of an optional stop during your Coorg trip, as you can’t actually reach the bottom for a close-up view. The location is a bit far and there aren’t many other attractions nearby, but if you have extra time, it’s still worth a visit. You’ll need to climb a little to reach the side viewpoint, but the scenery from there makes the effort worthwhile and offers a refreshing experience amidst nature.

The drive to the falls is quite good, through the hills and coffee plantation. The falls is visible from the road itself. There's a short hike (200m) from the road, through a small part. Beware of leeches though. The road goes towards a peak and viewpoint from here. That was totally worth it btw.

Chelavara waterfalls is a nice waterfall in Coorg near Kabbe Betta. There is a small parking space (for 2-3 cars) here. Waterfall can be accessed by a small 5 minute hike. Bicolored frogs can be spotted here. Area can be bit dirty especially during rainy season, recommend good shoes while visiting the falls. Not recommended to enter the waterfalls even though it doesn't look dangerous, it seems many have lost lives here.

A nice spot to visit while you are in Sakleshpura .. unfortunately not very well maintained, even the board to indicate the fort is not there at the entrance.. You have parking area at the foot of the fort. Around 250 steps to climb before you get to the top, a moderate hike.... Fort looks good and has scenic view around... Definitely for folks looking to take photos, ample opportunities 😁

Fort which is little close to sakleshpur, well maintained by the staffs.. Challenging for few people as we need to climb close to 300 steps which might take close to 15 to 20 min. No private parking for this area... Had to leave at the side road .. also no restaurants near by so pls don't plan for ur food along with this visit

Coming to history of this fort was built by the then king of Mysore tippu sultan on 1792 to mark his power of succession over the region.This fort is used to store the ammunition and gunpowder for cannons.I do not recommend going to this fort unless you are a historical sites enthusiast anyway you will not be able to see the star shape of the fort which is unique. I strictly warn if you are going with older people

Visited on 16th Nov 2025 Not bad, combine this place with other sightseeings. You need to walk down easy stairs for a km or less to view this Waterfall, and climbback. Its easy but could be tricky for elders. Once you reach the platform, the waterfall is beautiful. It is crowded so you need to struggle a bit to see it properly, but there will be no peace with 100s of people around 😉 There are photographers who would charge to click pictures. Don't go for Francis photographer, our deal was to click 5 photos and we needed soft copies only. He said he would share later as there was no network. However, he took money and did not share any photos to us later. I am still following up with him, no response. 10 Rupees entry fee for adults, and free parking space 😊

It's good waterfall only to watch. We cannot take bath as its restricted. Situated in the green coffee estate center area and other side forest. The scenic beauty is good to watch in Sep to December months. Later the flow will be reducing. Can take the ticket there itself after parking vehicle nearby. 750m walk to falls from main road. It may be difficult for the people with knee pains and elders as some area steps climbing is required.

It was a peaceful yet lively moment — peaceful because of the beauty around, and lively because of the energy of the crowd, everyone trying to capture that perfect shot. There’s a small entry fee of ₹20, and the place is well-maintained with gardens, benches, and a small musical fountain area. The viewpoint can get very crowded during sunset, so it’s best to arrive at least 30–40 minutes early if you want a good spot to sit and enjoy. Parking is available nearby, and there are several stalls outside selling snacks, tea, and coffee — perfect for enjoying the view with something warm in hand. I absolutely loved this place! It’s a beautiful spot with great views and totally worth the ₹20 entry ride. The atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing a perfect getaway to enjoy nature. There are mini food stalls at the entrance selling corn, ice cream, and other snacks, which adds to the fun. They even have ziplines, making it an exciting place for both kids and adults! The area has plenty of seating, so you can relax and take in the surroundings. I really liked the animal statues and the light and water show in the evenings it’s a wonderful visual treat! Unfortunately, it started raining during my visit, so we couldn’t stay long. I would suggest adding a shade or shelter near the light show area so visitors can still enjoy it during bad weather. There’s also a park for kids, where they can play and have a great time. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for families, couples, and nature lovers looking for a relaxing and fun outing.

We had a wonderful experience at Dubare Jungle Lodges! The place is truly beautiful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a family or friends outing. The food served was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was bathing and feeding the elephants – such a unique and memorable experience! The staff deserve a special mention – they are extremely sweet, caring, and make you feel very comfortable. On the night of our stay, we were the only family there, and though we felt a bit scared at first, the staff were so friendly and reassuring that we soon felt completely at ease. Officer Ram was very helpful throughout our stay, and Nagaraj, who guided us on the safari and nature walk, was polite, patient and courteous Overall, we had the best day at Dubare Jungle Lodges and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in nature

Stayed at JLR Dubare on 12th October 2025 Open but safe parking. Rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Food options are limited but sufficient. The safari is good for beginners — great to enjoy the forest landscape and trees, but not ideal if your expectation is to spot tigers or elephants. The Dubare Elephant Camp is the real highlight — a wonderful experience to interact with elephants up close: bathing, feeding, and learning about them. Special thanks to Mr. Girish, an excellent naturalist, who ensures you have a meaningful and memorable time with the elephants. A must-visit for elephant lovers!

We had a wonderful stay at Jungle Lodges .. Dubare Elephant Camp. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained, offering a peaceful stay close to nature. Rooms were spacious. We booked the River View cottage and the view was indeed beautiful. The food was homely and all the service personnel were extremely helpful. The elephant interaction and elephant feeding activities were great! The safari was not worthwhile but that might have been our bad luck.

If you want an entire private jungle experience, head to JLR - Dubare. The resort is completely cut off from the rest of the crowd. To start with, you can park you vehicle on the banks of the Cauvery, and take a private boat to the resort. There you will be greeted by the helpful staff who will brief you about you stay. The itinerary includes 3 meals , tea/coffee, snacks apart from the nature walks and jungle safari. If you are luck you will spot some creatures during the safari. The staff is courteous and polite. During the rains, beware of leeches abd make sure to wear closed footwear. The resort's room are made with bamboo furniture and there is damp smell to it. If you dislike this, visit in the summers, but Cauvery might run dry then. The main attraction is the fully private elephant interaction experience. You can bathe and feed these gentle giants and click a million pictures with them. A must do, if you have kids.

It's a kind of park I can say.. nice place for kids and you can easily spend 2hrs here. Yo have zip sliding, rope activities, birds feeding.. don't miss taking photos with macaw it's 60rs. There is river flow which is really good. You can spend time here and there is boating activity too

Lovely place, the rope bridge across the river is main attraction. Huge market outside. Entry fee is 10 rs. Inside park after the river has rabbits, parrots, deers etc. Paddle boating is also available. Adventure sports mini versions are also available.

We can play in the running water like our childhood days . Good dress changing rooms hanging bridge Worth it 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋 It’s very beautiful waterfall. Almost a Km walk on cemented path and around 150-200 steps. Walk is very exciting and beautiful as it’s surrounded by dense Jungle. Can have your foot in water at foot of waterfall. Cold water will enthrall you. It’s almost 50-55 Km or 2 hr car drive from Coorg. Your driver may say you that it’s landslide or waterfall is closed etc., but don’t believe on him. It remains always open till 5 pm. Iruppu Falls truly lives up to its name! The water is wonderfully refreshing, and the views surrounding the falls are simply breathtaking – lush greenery as far as the eye can see. The trek to reach the falls is also quite enjoyable, a nice winding path that adds to the overall experience. Just a friendly heads-up though: keep an eye out for leeches along the trail. While they didn't detract too much from the beauty of the place, it's definitely something to be aware of. Overall, a fantastic spot to connect with nature!

It's a seasonal waterfall (our driver told us). It's beautiful waterfall !! You can even bath and enjoy there. There are changing rooms available at the fall. You can buy tickets at the entry gate ₹50 per person, but they made an extra ticket for ₹20 vehicle parking and ₹25 per person for iruppu waterfall.

Must visit place if you are a nature lover. Visit during the monsoon to witness its full glory.Had to walk almost 1 km to reach the falls. There are about 200 steps to climb, but it isn’t hard at all. The ticket costs ₹75, and it’s worth it if you visit during the rainy season. Shops near the parking area sell food at a high price, so ask the price before you order.

Iruppu falls is formed by a river lakshmana thirtha after falling from a height of 51.8 meters. The water is so clean. We have to be careful because the stones in the falls are very slippery. The water pressure is also very high right now. There are leeches at the falls so we should be careful. We can see beautiful blue flutter butterflies also in the forest. Please be cautious keeping in mind the water pressure and do not go wandering into the forest trail in brahmagiri. The water is super cold and it’s amazing to play. This Waterfall is a mind-blowing picture. I really mesmerized by the water foam and fall. Unfortunately the maintenance is very poor and safety is must while incline walk to edge. Security guards are not kept here. People will play like however they want.

It's a fantastic place to check out. The waterfall itself is really nice, though you should know that you can get quite close to it, but that's definitely at your own risk.

We recently visited the Tirunelli Temple as a family, and it was a peaceful and memorable experience. The drive to the temple is beautiful, with well-maintained roads that pass through scenic forest areas — a treat for nature lovers. Though the temple is currently undergoing renovation, it doesn’t affect the visit or rituals. The surroundings remain calm and spiritual, and we had no trouble accessing the main temple. Overall, it's a serene place worth visiting, both for its spiritual significance and the scenic journey to get there.

Thirunelli Temple is located about 50 km from Wayanad, near the Kerala-Karnataka border. Nestled in a valley surrounded by lush forests, it has the majestic Brahmagiri Hills as its backdrop. A road trip to the temple through the hilly landscape can be truly exhilarating. Pilgrims visit Thirunelli Temple mainly to perform ancestral rites known as Bali Tharpanam. It is believed that performing these rituals here helps liberate the soul of the deceased from the earthly realm. Ample parking is available for visitors, although the temple is currently under renovation.

A good ride through the forest. But couldn't find a great verity of animals. It depends. You really get a great time with the nature and fresh air. Could spot the footprints of tiger. There is a change in the timings. The safari starts from 6 am to 10 am in the morning and 3 pm to 6 pm in the evening. 60 trips per day. 30 in the morning and 30 trips afternoon. So if you are planning to go on weekends and holidays be sure you reach at the earliest. And. The best time to go for is from November to jan. The climate also too good. Maximum number of people that can travel in a jeep is 7. It starts from 3-4. Costs 2100rs. One guide will accompany you to describe things and helps you to spot the animals.

Better to buy tickets online a day before through keralaecotourism website. There are two slots, one morning 6 and evening at 3. Animal sighting is purely based on your luck but signs of animals can be found there, even tiger marks.

The safari last 1.5 hours, costs rs2250 per jeep, so its affordable. its one single road to enter and exit from the other side, its not like Kabini or Nagarhole which branches out like a combing search safari. Its hard to spot animals coz of the thick forest. We spotted Elephants, Sambar deer, tortoises, giant squirrel

We participated in a Sunday evening safari during rainy season at Tholpetty Wildlife sanctuary. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but compared less favorably to the similar offering 20 km away at Nagarhole in Karnataka (see below for details), which we did the next day. For one jeep with 5 people (including a 5 year old child), we paid Rs. 5500, compared to Nagarhole, where the per-person charge was Rs. 1000/adult, 500/child. Pros: No wait. Was able to pay by foreign credit card without a problem. Note to foreign travelers: one passport is required for identification purposes). The tour lasted about two hours. We saw one elephant—a tusker!) deep in the woods and one peacock, but that’s it. Since this was rainy season, wildlife sightings are much rarer. Cons: The safari vehicle used was cramped and very inconducive both to comfort and wildlife viewing as the seats faced inward with very little head clearance and very little window surface area. See photo for comparison to the Nagarhole (Karnataka) safari vehicle. In terms of price, I might be wrong about this, but I believe that one has to rent the entire jeep at a cost of Rs. 5000, which may not be economical for smaller groups. Overall, if you are visiting the Tholpetty area and cannot make the short drive to the Karnataka side of the forest, then this excursion is recommended. I would strongly suggest trying to do so in the dry season to maximize chances of wildlife sightings. If only possible to visit during the rainy season, I would favor the Nagarhole side both for price (pay per head as opposed to per vehicle), vehicle design/comfort and wildlife viewing opportunities.

We haven't seen anything except deer inside the forest. Despite travelling 1.5 hrs through the forest with 4500 INR loss, nothing could be seen. And road was completely offroad (I mean not good for old members)

Visitors need to know: it is essential to purchase tickets at least 12 hours in advance, as they are limited and sell out quickly. The current ticket price is ₹220 per person. Regarding the experience itself, I personally found it not worth the price or the hassle. It is extremely crowded, and the main attraction is simply an island area with a flow of water, not a waterfall or anything significantly unique. It felt like a waste of money for what is offered. We could not enter the island because of entry restrictions. The rafting on the river was a good experience. It was Rs 100 per person for a 20 min ride in the river by bamboo rafts. One can enjoy this ride as well even if you can not enter the island. There are few tea shops and souveneir shops.

Excellent tourist destination in Wayanad. It is a beautiful group of islands joined by the Kuruva river. We are taken on a raft to the main islands. If you walk for about 500 meters you will reach the part of the river where you can have a pleasant bath. The river is cool and shallow. You can spend any amount of time there. It is safe even for small children. However, it is not at all safe to take bath in other parts of the river. The guards warn tourists but some make a clandestine attempt to jump into the river. When we went there for the second time, a guard showed me why we should not take bath in the prohibited areas!

Bad experience at Kuruva Dweep, lost money during visit. Management should improve safety and proper arrangements for visitors.

Good place for walking in the forest and taking bath in river. The boat just crosses from the mainland to Kuruva Island which is would take hardly 5mins. The people around there are friendly and no plastics are allowed inside island. It's a flat land as there is no elevation observed so anyone irrespective of age can go and explore. Only little part of the island is accessible.

Crowd management is another area that needs improvement, as the garden becomes very crowded during weekends and holidays, making it difficult to enjoy peacefully. Despite these issues, the garden still remains a pleasant place to visit for its ambiance and scenic beauty. Overall, Brindavan Garden is a lovely tourist spot with great potential, but it definitely needs better maintenance and cleanliness to give visitors a more enjoyable experience. If you ever visit mysore you must visit Brindavana Gardens, and make your day happy. Ticket price is one hundred rupees only per person, and transportation for this is kind of moderately expensive, there are buses but they only reach to Brindavana gardens circle only, from that we have to take auto. Drinking Water and washrooms are kept for visitors convenience.

It is a very pretty garden. There are fountains, front and centre. It has a lot of beautiful arches covered with vines. A wide variety of flora and fauna can be seen over here. It is extremely colourful through and through. It is an aesthetic garden, a perfect place to click pictures.

Inside also is very royal in its looks, a room is dedicated to Raja Ravi Verma's paintings, other rooms and people's court and VIP court are just magnificent.

The palace looks good from a distance but nothing much special inside. I strictly recommend visiting in the early hours so that you can spend ur time nicely as you like it, if you reach late they will still give you the tickets but chase you away before 5.30 to 5.45 pm However the light show is good in the end 10 mins with the full lights on the palace, it's for 1 hour first 40 mins you listen to the story and again they will chase you out to start the next 1 hour show.

visited Mysuru Zoo and really enjoyed the experience. I got to see the tiger, hippo, leopard, cheetah and giraffe, which was the highlight of my visit. All the animals looked healthy and active. The zoo is clean, well maintained and has lots of trees, so walking around felt relaxing. There are benches and water points along the way, which was helpful. The information boards near the animals were also easy to understand. It's a great place to visit with family and kids. Overall, I had a very good time at Mysuru Zoo and would definitely recommend it. Note: eat well before you enter

An absolute wow! Probably the best zoo in the whole country. All the animals are given plenty of space to wander around. So many species of animals, birds... And they even got some rare species, like white peacock, bengal tiger, black swan, etc. The zoo is veryyyy big, so u can easily spend ur whole afternoon here. They have clean restrooms, places for seating everywhere, and that too in a reasonable ticketprice... They also apply stickers on the plastic items u carry inside, in order to ensure no spoiling. Mysore zoo has always been great. It is one of the best zoo in the country. It is quite large with a lot of collection of different animals. Although zoo is not the right way to see animals where they are kept in captivity, Mysore zoo has kept the animals enclosures as close to their natural habitat environment as possible. The design of the animal enclosures are quite good and no compromise on the space. The animals also appear well fed and healthy. The zoo is almost always crowded. The zoo is quite large and the entire walk around the zoo is more than 2.6 km. But battery operated carts are available for the elderly and those in need. Plastic is not permitted inside the zoo. They collect ₹10 in case you are taking any plastic inside the zoo. This is refunded if you show the same when you come out of the zoo. There are lots of trash cans inside. Adequate toilets are also available inside. The full trip to the zoo could take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours depending on how fast one can walk. There is a lake with boating facility adjacent to the zoo. If one wishes, a combined ticket to the zoo and lake can be purchased.

One of the well maintained and the biggest zoo in South India. All the animals and birds looks active, if you visit in the morning soon after the opening time. You can see lots of big trees and resting seats all over the zoo. Trees are properly maintained. Animals are fed on time. We happened to see some doctors checking up with the animal caretakers. The entire zoo holds around 3km of area, so you will be burning up your calories for sure. A must visit place in mysore, if you have kids. Also, you can book your tickets through scanning the QR code shown before the ticket counter. So, the payment can be done through UPI without any hassles. You need not stand in the que for tickets. This is very much appreciative.

The Shree Chamundeshwari Devi Temple, perched atop the scenic Chamundi Hills, is more than just a religious site—it is the very heart and soul of Mysuru, offering an unforgettable blend of spirituality, history, and natural beauty. My visit here was truly a highlight of exploring the city. The temple is a revered Shakti Peetha, deeply rooted in mythology as the place where Goddess Chamundeshwari (a fierce form of Shakti) slew the demon king Mahishasura, from whom the name 'Mysuru' is derived. Dating back to the 12th century, the temple’s current magnificence is largely due to the patronage of the Wodeyar royal family, who adopted the Goddess as their tutelary deity. The temple is a stellar example of Dravidian architecture, instantly recognizable by its towering, seven-tiered Gopuram (entrance tower), which is adorned with intricate carvings and topped with seven golden Kalashas. The silver-plated entrance doors and the peaceful atmosphere inside the Navaranga Hall truly convey a sense of ancient, royal devotion. The location itself, nearly 3,500 feet above sea level, is captivating. The drive up the hill is scenic, and the summit offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city of Mysuru. From the viewpoint, you can clearly see landmarks like the Mysore Palace and Karanji Lake. For those interested in a spiritual and physical challenge, the climb up the 1,008 steps is highly recommended, as is stopping to admire the colossal monolithic Nandi statue—Lord Shiva's mount—situated halfway up the hill. As the temple attracts devotees globally, it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and during the auspicious Ashada Shukravara (Fridays in Ashada month) and the spectacular Dasara festival. To ensure a smoother darshan, I highly recommend purchasing the Special Entry Ticket (₹100) or the VIP Darshan Ticket (₹300) to bypass the longer general queue. Public transport via KSRTC buses is frequent, and ample (paid) parking is available. Remember to follow the modest dress code and note that the hill area is strictly a No Plastic Zone.

Visited the Chamundeshwari Temple on Nov 1st during Rajyotsava— the darshan itself was truly divine and powerful, you can really feel the energy of the goddess. However, the overall experience was quite stressful. The temple gets extremely crowded, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Even with a VIP pass, we had to wait for hours in the queue. Entry tickets cost ₹30 for general darshan and ₹100 for special darshan, but everything is cash only. Crowd management was poor, with no separate lines for senior citizens, families with small kids, or differently-abled devotees. It was hard to stand for long, and the pushing made it uncomfortable. The staff were not very polite, and there was a lot of confusion inside. Parking was also badly managed, adding to the frustration.Govt really need to improve crowd management and cleanliness of Chamundi devi temple. On the positive side, the temple’s divine atmosphere, architecture, and the powerful darshan of Chamundeshwari Devi make it worth visiting at least once. The authorities just need to improve arrangements so devotees can experience peace along with devotion.

Chamundi Temple is a beautiful and divine place in Mysuru, built during the reign of the Mysore Wadiyar kings. It is believed that Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the demon Mahishasura here, which is how Mysuru got its name. The temple’s 1,008 stone steps and the massive Nandi statue carved from a single rock reflect its glorious history. They also serve delicious prasada at specific timings (as captured in the picture). This sacred temple should be well maintained for future generations, and it’s our duty to keep the surroundings clean and preserve its devotion and heritage. A must-visit! 🙏

Temple is good it is on the chamundi hill, here you can see devi chamundi statue inside the temple by puchasing the ticket (general ticket- 30 Rupess, VIP Datshan- 100 Rupess) per person. You can visit nandi statue which is nearby to the temple nearly 300 steps down. You can have a picture with most famous Mahisasura statue. Near the mahisasura statue only you can get the bus also to enter in the city again. Don't forget to take picture here from the hill top from where you can see the whoe Mysore city.
