Khao Khitchakut National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Khao Khitchakut National Park, located in Chanthaburi Province, Thailand, is a sacred site and pilgrimage destination known for its venerated Buddha footprint on the mountain. The park covers 59 square kilometers of lush forestland with diverse herbal plants and wildlife. Visitors can explore waterfalls and forests while also visiting Khitchakut Temple to worship the giant rocks on the summit. During February to April, pilgrims flock to the temple seeking prosperity.
Something different while in Jomtien - a hike to Buddhas Footprints!? And I mean a hike - park at lower temple, 200baht for 4wd trip for maybe 15 minutes (and it is needed and only way) to staging point where it’s then 10,000 step round trip up +70 flights if you believe Apple. Well constructed steps and paths all along the way But well worth it! Approx 2.5 hour drive from Jomtien

Super greenery we enjoyed our stayed. Ranger are polite and friendly.unfortunately we couldn’t go to temple but still we enjoyed waterfall and hike.
Nilaraye L — Google review
Beautiful camping but very little water at waterfall and tracks to visit the 1-7 steps are all closed down by the park rangers so only the lowest is open. Better skip this waterfall until they open the tracks again. Lots of mosquitoes.
Herve B — Google review
Planned to camp at the nice campsite by the lake. Found out that nice accommodation was available, with air conditioning, fridge, toilet etc. Plenty of toilets in the park. Waterfalls are minimal during the dry season. No food available at the park. There’s a 711 outside the park on the right leaving the park and another one in the town on the left
Gareth W — Google review
The park covers a rich, verdant forestland of some 58 square kilometers where many herbal plants and wildlife are found. On the top hill, there also Khitchakut Temple where people will flock there every year during February to April to worship the giant rocks on the summit where there is a trace of Buddha's footprint which believe will bring them prosperities.Opening hours: 9am-6pmAdmission: 200 baht for adult and 100 baht for childrenContact: 039-452-074

A unique experience that is well worth the climb during its brief annual opening period. Avoid weekends and school holidays, when it's mobbed.
Dave H — Google review
Park is beautiful with ample camping spaces. Though the waterfall was dry during our visit, but entire park was really enjoyable. Some local restaurants are there. Great spot for picnic.

Krathing Waterfall

Park
Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Krathing Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder located in a forest, accessible via a hiking trail. The waterfall cascades down 13 rocky tiers into pools, with the most beautiful point at the 8th and 9th floors. While the national park allows access up to the 8th floor, visitors can still enjoy walking comfortably between each level due to their close proximity.
Krathing Waterfall is a large and very tall waterfall, the top of which is an open cliff where you can see the waterfall from the mountain in the distance. The upstream comes from the water source on Khao hitchakut, with a total of 13 levels, which highlights the most beautiful point of Namtok Krathing at the 8th and 9th floors, but the national park is open for us to walk up to the 8th floor only. The distance of each floor is not very far apart, so you can walk comfortably. Each level of the waterfall has different beauty. For the first level of the waterfall, located just 100 meters from the office, near the park's villas and tourists can swim at all levels. In the waterfall basin are rocks and sand, so the water is so clear that you can see the fish that are present in the waterfall. The floor that people like to stop by for swimming the most is the 3rd floor because it is not far from the office, no need to climb, not very tired, the water is not strong and there is a pool for swimming, suitable for relaxing. On the 3rd floor, there is also a wooden bridge for us to stop and take photos as well. When you continue walking up to the other waterfalls, you have to walk along the stream up the hill further. The path may be steep and a little slippery. You should walk with caution. The park area Shady with large and small trees that fill the area, giving the park a cool climate. For the period that is suitable for visiting Krating Waterfall, the most beautiful should come during the after rain, which is around mid-October to mid-February. You'll see the surrounding greenery with mosses, ferns, flowers and tiny mushrooms. The camping area is near the reservoir. During the cold weather, we may see fog in the morning and take very beautiful photos. How to get to Krating Waterfall? Krathing Waterfall is about 4 hours from Bangkok, 253 kilometers distance. You can rent a car from Bangkok and drive according to the map
Roman M — Google review
One of my favorite waterfalls in Thailand... Just go all the way up 9th Tier and I guarantee you will never regret.. It is so much fun... If you go with family tier 7 will be the best to chill, bath and have some food... Never litter anywhere...
Mohamed A — Google review
We were so impressed that we visited this place twice during one year period. The 3rd floor is easy to access from the parking place. We heard that the highest floor was the most spectacular but it was too tiring for us to go to the top. In fact, the way to go uphill is not overly difficult or steep. Healthy adults should reach there without difficulties. During this period, proof of Covid vaccination is required before entering the National Park
Rayvat U — Google review
It was the best time we hike and drink tea every layer of fall .
Nilaraye L — Google review
On Mar the water level is very low. But I believe that after rain this place will be very beautiful.
Worakanok A — Google review
This water fall is very quiet and has many levels, very very fresh here. A bit far from town but worth the trip if you don't mind hiking for solitude on higher levels.
Plus L — Google review
worth walking up there, not too long distance

Bring your bathers and swim with the fish. Lovely and cool in the edge of jungle. Warning! Google maps directed me to private roads nearby, completely wrong. So take the corner on my photo. Oh,and if a westener... have your vacination certificate with you. How did they think i got in the country anyway??? Ha ha

Wat Khao Banchop

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
We have visited here twice now. Whether it is raining or not, it has different effects on us. The sound of the rain in nature and the birds singing around these old trees. The temple is solemn, and I believe it is one of the quietest temples to pray or meditate. The owner of the hotel nearby recommended this temple and told us it is popular because of the huge tree, which you can walk through. There is also a wooden hanging bridge, which I believe needs to be renovated because the woods are slowly deteriorating. The rocky river next to it creates another level of relaxation just by sitting and staring at it. I highly recommend this place. The road going there is also nice to ride.

Very beautiful Wat worth visiting. Great old trees on the premises. This is a place you will miss after having been there.
Ruediger B — Google review
For the nature lovers and the big fan of hug trees, you should come and say hello to this very old Sompong. It stands strong and beautiful inside the temple area where people can come to pay respects to the Dhamma and enjoy a shot walk to the tree.
Nidnoi P — Google review
A temple in between two famous mountains of Chanthaburi - naturally set well with wonderful mountains surrounding and the treasure of Tetrameles nudiflora tree - aka sompong tree - the rare gigantic 300 - 500 years old trees that was a result of the faith of the people and the nature.

Beautiful little temple set in the Durian hardens at the bottom of a mountain. Peaceful and tranquil.

เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาสอยดาว Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary

Park
Nature & Parks
Mountainous rainforest with campsites, a multi-tiered waterfall & exotic birds like green magpies.
We took our 8-year-old daughter on a hike to the waterfall about 1.5 km away. So our round trip was about 3km, which took us nearly an hour and 20 minutes. The staff told us that we would be back to the starting point at 3pm. It's a little challenging for kids, but very enjoyable.
Olay — Google review
This national park, so there is a fee of entry. It has many levels. The first level has camping sites. The second level is about 15-20 minutes away (by car), be careful driving to and from this level due to wildlife. This second level is around 300-400 square meters big with a steam running along side it. To get to the waterfalls you need to walk through a jungle path and it can take 20-30 minutes. There are many level of the waterfalls and it can take up to 2 hours walking to get to the top level (as the path are not well walked after level 4). Which you are on the top level, the ranger advised to leave around 2pm.
Nuk S — Google review
Look no further! One of the best national parks we visited in Thailand. The walk through the forest and the challenging climb to reach the main waterfalls were just incredible. The entry fee for foreigners (200 THB) isn’t as inflated either (looking at you Khao Yai 😒)

Definitely one of the underrated locations. Personally, I liked it there. Ideal for those seeking tranquility and privacy. It is possible to rent a tent. Beautiful nature around. Ideal for an overnight stay.

Beautiful landmark. I went here on a Thai studies field trip and the waterfall is beautiful. We walked through with the help of the park rangers. A very informational experience.

Beautiful scenery! Very quiet and remote. Close to memoria resort, but the turn off is quite hard to find as there is no sign. The road is pretty rough and we drove our motoonly about half a kilometer before parking and hiking the rest. Really nice hike through the forest! Lots of uphill slopes though so be prepared for a workout! The waterfall is accessible at many points. We didn't go to the top but are looking forward to visiting again!

Tham Phet Pho Thong

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
One word: WOW! This had to be one of the most amazing cave experiences in our travels throughout the world. Not because of the size, but because it’s so nice, and has no people, and the energy around this place is special. We only went to one of the caves (there are apparently more) and spent more than an hour inside just admiring the rock formations and great green colors of moss growing on the rocks at one opening. The caves are basically 3 sections. First when you enter there is a medium size hall with steps at the rear side leading to a middle section that has a wide opening letting in a lot of light. Continue from there towards the right side through a small corridor like walkway that leads to some wooden stairs up to the great cathedral – this is the main part of the cave and simply amazing. The cathedral has a large stone pillar in the middle that must have been created over thousands of years from slow dripping calcium. From the pillar there are several small walkways to the different corners of the cathedral. To the rear right there is an additional tunnel leading to a small altar with offerings. The cave has some sparce lighting, many light bulbs were not working when we visited. It’s recommended to bring your own torch - the LED light on your phone will work too if you don’t have a torch The main cathedral was well lit though, it seems that they focused the lights to where they are making the biggest impact – smart! Getting to the caves is easy but involves some walking. We arrived around 11am to an empty carpark. There was one lady selling drinks, but other than that it was completely deserted and looked abandoned. Many of the picnic tables along the path were overgrown and reclaimed by nature. At the carpark there is a little temple. Walk through a gate to the left of the temple up a paved road. After about 300meters there’s an abandoned building with two walkways, leading to the caves. - take the path going straight from the paved road for the big cave which is about 400m through the forest on a narrow path, , look at my picture for directions .Wear long pants if you don’t want to brush your legs against the shrubs. - turn right for the smaller cave up on the mountainside – it’s apparently quite some stairs to climb. Unfortunately, we didn’t know about the other caves until after we already left the site. Tip: turn off data roaming on your mobile phone: our phone switched to a Cambodian mobile network while we walked to the cave. You may incur high roaming fees if you’re data roaming. Entrance to the caves is free: a donation box was located by the altar in the very back.
The T — Google review
This location looks like it used to be maintained and staffed but when I went today I saw no one and no functioning facilities. The road was blocked by downed trees so we drove as far as we could, then parked and walked. The path to the cave was well trodden and easy to follow. There were no working lights in the cave so bring your own. There was a lot to explore inside the caverns and signs to help guide the way. There are tables and benches where you can sit and picnic or simply enjoy the natural surroundings.
Deborah L — Google review
Travel date: 29/7/2024 It seems to be an attraction with proper routes and facilities before this, but the whole path is now abandoned and slowly reclaimed by nature. The caretaker at the entrance, who seemed uninterested generally, told me that the place is now closed due to many falling trees, but I believe there might be many other reasons as well. One could still visit this place, but make sure you're equipped with proper hiking gear, a bright torchlight (it was pitch black in the cave and this deterred me from going further into the cave, the place seemed to be light up before this as I could see remnants of wires) and mosquito repellent (so many mosquitoes!), and exploring the cave is TOTALLY AT YOUR OWN RISK as the cave is located quite a distance from the entrance with the caretaker and as you go in deeper there would be no mobile phone signal available in case of emergency. Not sure whether they will reopen the place again in future but I would love to visit again if that's the case 😊
Aurélien T — Google review
All of the facilities are run down and no staff were seen over three days. However, the forest and the cave are very impressive. Worth the trip for a naturalist but perhaps not for a tourist.
Ian D — Google review
Interesting to enter the cave and a nice Location for a quick stop, not really maintained and the entrance is farther in but I liked the small hike there bring torches/mobilephones for light else you won't get far.
Rey S — Google review
Great deal - well maintained caves with electric lights, so no equipment required. Free to enter, but it's good to donate something in return. Especially that this place is fair without dual pricing as in other similar places. Keep doing it!

Golden Gate Plaza

Market
Shopping
Golden Gate Plaza is a vibrant marketplace that showcases an array of clothing and handicrafts stalls, along with street food vendors. It's a bustling night market where shoppers need to possess excellent bargaining skills to land deals on their purchases. With its massive size, the market can take hours to explore fully, and visitors can find an impressive selection of items to buy.
A must place to explore, buy belts, glasses, suitcase, trainers, sports clothing etc. Gets very hot here, can use golf trolley to use as karge walking site. Visit here monthly, best place to buy gifts , great savings !!!!!!!

David R — Google review
2. HAND HEAVEN To call Rong Kluea market anything else would not be fair. I do not know where all the 2. clothes come from originally. I was told that the majority of the seller's which is from Cambodia bring all the products they are selling them from Cambodia. The goods are brought to the market from Cambodia on big hand-pulled carts. The products are mostly 2. hand clothes mixed with some new copy products. The 2. hand clothes look like is origins from the west, how it end up at a border market in Thailand's one can only wonder about. The market is supplying most of the 2. hand clothes shops around Thailand. When you look at the license plates at the cars at the parking lots you see cars from all over Thailand.
Mads D — Google review
Very big border market, a lot of things to look for and buy if the price is right
Jonathan “ — Google review
A stone’s throw away from cambodia border. You could find plenty of goods here, ranging from sneakers, flip flop, bags, household items, cosmetic, etc. Most of the merchants are khmer.
Super D — Google review
A great night market. Like mostly night market, you need to have a bargain skill before buying things.
Margareta H — Google review
If you are looking for second hand clothes, brand name handbag, original or copy clothes/shoes, machinary and toy, this is the place. Not worth going just to buy few items but if you need to buy a lot or just on the way to or out of Cambodia, great place to stop by at least couple of hours. Better take a bus from Ekamai bus terminal or Lumpini Park.
Kim A — Google review
Golden Gate Plaza Thailand border is so much cheaper than buying in Poipet or the country Cambodia itself. I save a lot of money buying there and a lot of Khmer merchants who have their own stores in Cambodia would buy whatever they need in stocks at a discount rate and sale them in Cambodia for a huge profit. If anyone of you want to save money, shop in Thailand either at the Golden Gate Plaza or somewhere else in Thailand, you will save lots of money. Here in Cambodia, it is the land where one get scammed, get rip off, lied to. Khmer merchants will lied through their teeth and raise the price of whatever you want to buy. Very dishonest. Go to Golden Gate Plaza.

Lalu

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
This place cannot be entered by private vehicle, and must be visited by 'E-Tak'. As this is a park created by natural erosion and weathering, there is a risk of falling if you walk around the park without the help of a guide. Also, since there is no shaded area, please bring drinking water, a portable fan, and a large umbrella to block the sunlight.

It's a very nice place for taking pictures and look around, you can see what the nature can building with wind and rain . a little bit difficult to find, because you can't go inside with the car. If you foreigner they bring you to this place for 300 baht and return.

🚗 Next Stop: Lalu, Sa Kaeo Province 🌍 I’ve just arrived at Lalu, a unique natural site in Sa Kaeo. It’s known for its interesting earth pillars and cliffs that were formed over time by erosion. The name "Lalu" means "pierced," referring to the way the land looks as if it’s been shaped by the elements. The landscape is quite different from anything else I’ve seen in Thailand. Roads were a challenge after the rainy season. #RoadTrip #Lalu #SaKaeo #TravelThailand

Very interesting formations and some good photography to be enjoyed. I might not recommend driving hundreds of kilometres to see it, but if you're in the area, it's a pretty and interesting landscape.

Unusual geomorphology landscape but beautiful in its own way. You got to use the local service cart ( e-taek ) to go in the place. Paid 250 baht for round trip. Stay safe by grabbing a bottle of water with you.
Kiatkorn P — Google review
Smaller than expected. It's a community maintained area so it receives no funding from the central government. I came during the afternoon so it was blazing hot. Better to come in the evening or late afternoon. You can rent a car for 200 baht (300 baht) from the visitor center. It can fit up to 6 ppl. Alternatively, I bargained to park my car in the temple and walk in there myself for 50 baht.

SADOK KOK THOM HISTORICAL PARK

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Prasat Sdok Kok Thom is a remarkably preserved stone Khmer-style Hindu temple from the 11th century CE, located in Thailand. This historical landmark is the top site for historical parks in Thailand and boasts tourist signage, maps, information clearly marked, ample parking space, helpful staff, clean modern toilets and well-maintained buildings and grounds with shady areas. Best of all - there are no tourist charges to visit this non-commercial park!
I saw one other visitor as I was leaving. The surrounding grounds were clean & well maintained. The young volunteers were great and they explained and walked me through the museum answering my questions 👍
Bruce E — Google review
This is an ancient Hindu ruins that you would only see in a history textbook. The ruins, the exhibition hall where the relics are displayed, the parking lot, etc. are all very well managed. There is no separate entrance fee, and if you are visiting this area, I highly recommend you visit this place.

Cool place to see if you're passing bye, although I wouldn't go too far out of my way to visit. If you've been to Ankor Wat, it's not going to impress, same style architecture, just on a small scale. Very hot area, sweltering heat makes it hard to hang around too long. It's free to enter even for foreigners, which is a nice change for Thailand.
Wetwhistle4u — Google review
One of the lesser known major historic structures from the days of the Khmer Empire. It is located near the Cambodian border in Thailand and boasts with beautiful structures, informative digital information centre and staff who keeps the area astonishingly clean. Due to its remote location, the site receives very few visitors. No fees. Pay a visit and feel special!

Very beautiful, well-kept temple complex. Right at the entrance there is a small museum with lots of information about the architectural styles of the Khmer temple. Very nice park for walking and then visiting the temple in the middle. Free admission/no tickets

Avery well maintained historic park. There is plenty of parking and nice clean restrooms. There was no entry fee on the day I went. The main structure was a marvel to look at even if parts were restored. This is not a very big site so it’s easy to see everything in less than a hour.

Very beautiful even just stepping into the compound of this place. Well maintained and preserved temple. A bit difficult to travel from aranyaphrathet to this place even it is only 30km sth. Need to rent Tuk Tuk for 800bht from aranyaphrathet n wait n sending off to the main road of khouk song district. After all, it is very beautiful n recommended temple to visit if you are in Sa Keo or Aranyaphrathet.

Beauty meets elegance historical park in Sakeaw province. Open at 9.00-16.30. We came right at the place a bit late, around 17.00 something but luckily the security guy was very kind, he allowed us to go in. We have a good opportunity to capture this exquisite castle with the twighlight background. Glad to visit.

This is consistent with the artistic style of the lintel that can be dated in Khmer art. Early Bapuan style, there were 4 castles, only the middle one remains. The front two castles and the back one were ruined. The castle's appearance is similar to Khao Noi Castle. Built with burnt bricks and sandstone as the basis. There is a damaged part at the top of the castle. At the sandstone door frame There are ancient inscriptions and on the pillars and door frames there are designs of inverted lotus and upturned lotus. From the castle towards Northeast There are two large ponds and an ancient road stretching from it. castle to pond Around this mountain there are ancient villages or communities in the past. Angkor Express Boat

The Angkor Express Boat, operated by Khmer locals since 2002, offers round-trip rides between Penh and Siem Reap as well as Siem Reap and Battambang in Cambodia. It's best experienced from August to February when the Mekong River water levels are high. The journey provides a unique opportunity to witness the beauty of Tonle Sap Lake and the bustling life of floating villages along the river.
We took the ferry from Siem Reap to Battambang. A very nice way (but not very comfortable) to combine transport and sightseeing. It toon us 6.5 hours. Mostly cruising the river with the busy life of the floating villages and friendly waving locals. The boat does look different than on the website😏. It is very noisy so take earplugs. There is a simple toilet and they stop at a floating shop half way for 20 minutes if you fancy fried Rice.. ticket 30 usd and sometimes they can puck you up at your hotel.
Claudine M — Google review
I love boats and I love the water but this trip was not a favourite and I'd recommend a different mode of transport between Siem Reap and Battambang. Seeing the floating communities and locals transferred via their small boats to and from the ferry was great but the length of the trip at over 6 hrs and the small size of the ferry are negatives plus at times it sounded like the engine was going to die completely! It was not in a great state of repair with loose wires hanging off! Its a narrow boat to negotiate some of the tight waterways it has to travel but it means you dont have much legroom from those across from you and the bench seats just have a thin cushion so not very comfortable. We stopped after 4 hrs for a lunch break but the food did not look great so I bought some packet items. There is a very small toilet on board that you kind of have to back into as its such a low ceiling. At Battambang we stopped well outside of town and had to disembark onto a muddy riverbank as it seems the local government has built a dam further upstream and banned boats from travelling further! Not sure if this is temporary or long term. As a result its a USD5 Tuk Tuk into town
David S — Google review
The price proposed by this company for the boat transfer from Siem Reap to Battambang (or the other way) is really expensive compared to normal prices to the normal counter office, and even much more expensive than prices for local people. And absolutely no service justifying this price. A scam!
Devy J — Google review
Interesting journey! See the floating villages! But seats are incredibly uncomfortable. The 6 hour journey took seven hours. Watch out for this unscrupulous tuk-tuk driver at the Battambang end! Not recommended to hire him for any length of journey. He's unnaturally happy, but his follow-up sales tactics leave much to be desired.
Gerry C — Google review
It was a good way of getting close to the floating villages AND getting from Siem Reap to Battambang. It took us close to 9h in end of February 2020 due to dry season and we couldn't reach Battambang but stopped before it. No aircondition but airstream from boat speed (23km/h max). Boat had sun roof and a small hole-in-the-flor toilet. No drinks provided on board. If you are looking for "local-kind-of-adventure" this is EXACTLY your thing. If not go by bus. Startet at ~7am in Siem Reap by getting picked up at the hotel with a pick up truck (with what else?! 😁😁 ) Drove probably 40min to an harbor outside of Siem (at Siem Reap River). Went over the TonleSap to Sangker River. Lots of floating villages on this riverside. Nice to watch. 👍😎 Had "lunch" at 12 in boat stop. You might want to bring your own lunch. After the lunch break the rivers gotten thiner and driving was not easy anymore. Jurney got a bit boring. Reached a place close to Battambang finally at ~4pm. There a tuktuk has to be taken and paid to get to your hotel (paid 5$).
Schorsch S — Google review
Attention fraud! you get thrown off the boat 20km from Siem Reap in no man's land. Everything arranged. tuk tuk drivers are waiting on site and charge $5 per person to be taken to Siem reap. there are no other ways to get there. There is also no internet to call a vehicle with the Pass app. The boat it also not the same like on the picture.
Aiken A — Google review
For me it is fraud! I bought tickets from Battambang to Siem Reap. But, the driver stopped about 20km before Siem Reap, everyone had to get out and walk to the already waiting tuk tuks. For an inflated price you have to be driven into town for another $5. So in total I paid 35 euros for 6,5 hours on a small boat on which you can not move, with a short stopover and with fraud later.
Iona L — Google review
Echo what everyone else has said. Wish I read these before travelling. It too us 11 hours door to door between BB and SR and cost $30 for first transfer and boat trip. They dropped us off 39 minutes away from SR and we had to take the tuk tuks available. They started at $8 each but when we complained dropped to $6 each. Just be aware before you book. It is a long and uncomfortable trip. The scenery is lovely but only for the first couple of hours. Then it becomess boring.

Ek Phnom Pagoda is a fascinating site located just over 11km from Battambang. It features a modern pagoda and a large sitting Buddha statue, set against the backdrop of an 11th-century temple in ruins. The eerie atmosphere of the temple's jumbled stones and pillaged carvings gives visitors the feeling of stumbling upon a hidden secret ruin. Nearby, Phnom Sampuove offers natural beauty with its temples, natural wells, and picturesque mountains.
Saturday 11th October: Nice temple to visit, as you stand in front of it look right and you see the ruined temple, very similar to those seen at Angkor Wat. (You can't miss it to be fair) Well worth a stop off, some interesting plants and animals at the ruined temple

It’s a nice pagoda, pretty much the same as the structures you would find at Angkor Wat and other temples from the Angkor Period. There’s also a little shrine inside the pagoda. You do have pay to get in. I find this p,ace to be one of those places you go and see it one time and you’re good. There’s no tour guide or anything from what I saw when I came. Hardly any people on a weekday.

Wat Ek Phnom, an 11th century Angkorian Hindu temple. Easily accessible with a few wooden steps to climb and only about a 15 minute ride from Battambong's city center. Unfortunately, most walls have collapsed and looted, but still a nice place to visit since there aren't many visitors. Wat Ek Phnom has many shady Bodhi trees and large tamarind and milk fruit trees, making it an ideal place to seek relief from the heat, and if you look closely, you'll see many pendulum bird nests among the large trees (near the front of the ruins). You can also stroll around the moat of wat Ek Phnom and the temple ground. You're visiting a place of worship, so dress appropriately and be respectful.
Amie K — Google review
A small but atmospheric eleventh century Hindu temple, so older than Angkor Wat! It's very small and there doesn’t look to be a lot to see but there are some well decorated door lintels to be found on doorways and on the ground.

Very cool temple to see. There’s both a new temple and some ruins which are older than Angkor wat, according to our tuk tuk driver. It was $1 per person which is fair enough if they have to maintain the place.

Definitely worth the visit! The entry was 4000KHR or $1 It wasn’t busy at all, when we visited there were only two other people there other than the locals. It’s a temple from the 1100s in quite a bad condition, but definitely fascinating. There is a modern temple right in front of it and a big Buddha just to the side.

We enjoyed our visit here as there is an old temple from I think the 1100s. This Temple is not in very good condition but that is what makes it interesting. Take the time and walk through it, its amazing, took lots of pics. There is also a newer temple and a large statue of a huge buddha. Definitely worth visit, I think the cost was a dollar. 3btraveler

Battambang Crocodile Farm is a secure environment where visitors can get up close with crocodiles of various sizes. The farm even has baby crocs that children can touch and feel their skin. A girl was thrilled to catch one in her hands and learned not to scare animals unnecessarily. While it's important to be aware of the danger of approaching large crocs, this well-organized farm offers an entertaining and educational experience for everyone.
Got what we came for, saw lot of crocs l, all looked healthy and well fed. Had mixed feeling about owners but in the end there wasn't anything totally wrong. Animals seemed well and we got what we came for for very little price 2$.

I visited as a part of a tour and I enjoyed my time there. You can get on top of a tall wall and walk on the wall watching the crocodiles down there. However, there is not safety net or fence. I see a bit of a safety risk. You can also pose for a photo, with a baby crocodile in your hand.
Thilina D — Google review
This place is mental, when we arrived we didn't expect this many crocs. Being this close to them and feeling as frightened as we were haha, super fun! $2 entree, $3 if you want to hold a baby croc. Only downside is that you're not really able to communicate with the owners so any questions you have can't be answered. Overall a really fun experience :)
Bryan J — Google review
Wow so many crocodiles and you get to hold a baby one. Had a lovely thrilling time for $2. You also get to walk around on yourself but there's a lot of sections with only one side of the rail so not for children or anyone with balance problems. Family run so she will answer any questions, she has children and chickens so if you all don't want to go in you can wait behind with them and just look at the baby crocs in a bucket :)
Sam C — Google review
It’s a safe place for Crocodiles tour in a close range. They have all different sizes who lay everywhere. They even have a baby crocs for the small children to touch and feel the skin. My daughter was allowed to catch one of them in her hands and she was so proud of it after all. It’s important to let her know the danger of getting close to the big croc, but at the mean time, she learned not to scare things while it’s not necessary. If you are in Battambang, I suggest you should go and see them yourself.
Jenny S — Google review
Amazing seeing so many crocs and being so close to them. From babies to fully grown adults, was definitely an experience and all for just $2.
Delta R — Google review
An actual farm chargjng a $2 entrance fee, not a tourist attraction. Be aware the pens are accessed by concrete walkways above the crocodiles with a rope seperating you from a fall... hang on to your kids! I enjoyed it
Ruth W — Google review
Worth seeing for $2 per person. It’s a working farm so don’t expect zoo conditions and you won’t be disappointed. The lady guide (she’s not the owner) speaks almost perfect English and is very knowledgeable about the crocodiles and happy to answer questions. You can hold a baby crocodile. They have a rare ‘blonde’ croc. They feed the crocs once a week - call ahead and ask which day and time and go and see that.

Wat Samrong Knong, situated 6 kilometers north of Battambang province in Cambodia, is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts. The temple has a poignant past, having been under the control of the Khmer Rouge and serving as a site where thousands of locals and war criminals were executed. Dating back to the 19th century, the temple complex showcases an intriguing blend of pagodas, ancient ruins, and memorial shrines.
Free to visit and very few tourists around in the afternoon. A fairly large complex. Do some research before rocking up so you understand the place. Otherwise it’s just another set of temples. Beware of children asking you for money. You are more likely to come across young kids just wanting high fives or asking to chat so they can learn more English but the odd group do ride/walk around asking for money. They should be at school so it’s not ideal to support begging.

If you have a chance to visit Battambang province in Cambodia, wat Samraong Knong should be on your visiting list. This Buddhist temple has evolved through out the history of Cambodia. This place has aged around 300 years old, but the architecture continues to shine with the golden preah vihear. You can also see the alignment with Khmer Rouge regime as well. It is definitely worth it to visit there. I highly recommend everyone. Feel free to contact or learn more from Provincial Department of Tourism of Battambang. In addition, if you want to deep dive into Cambodian history, genocide, killing field, this place is for you.
Sar P — Google review
Samroung Knong is one of the oldest pagodas in Battambang, and very likely among the oldest across Cambodia. Founded in 1707, it has stood for centuries, witnessing the nation’s changing history. The pagoda endured through the Oudong Era, the French Protectorate, Cambodia’s Independence, the Republic of Khmer, and, most tragically, its transformation into an Angkar Center during the Khmer Rouge regime. Today, Samroung Knong remains an important cultural and historical site. It is known for its surviving old brick temple, which reflects centuries of Khmer craftsmanship, as well as its unique architectural features that distinguish it from other pagodas in the region. Visitors not only come to admire its beauty but also to reflect on its deep historical significance and the resilience of Cambodian heritage.
Sothea S — Google review
Lots of history, which can be quite upsetting for some . Arriving with a tour, tuk tuk or on your own, you feel like there is no one around. I would suggest at least taking a knowledgeable driver or doing research about the temples and the rich Cambodian history before arriving . It is definitely not a simple place where people come only to take pictures. There is so much more to it.
Ewa T — Google review
They were putting up new years decor so it was a little blocked off, still a cool temple and also has a room with a torture museum which was interesting to read but so sad. It’s also located next to a killing field and there is a lot of information to read on the Khmer Rouge.

An ancient Buddhist pagoda. The former main temple is on the process of putting its name into the World Heritage list. The temple itself is full of glories and horror. During Khmer Krohorm period, the temple was used as a captive for prisoners who were mostly ordinary people. 10,008 people lost their lives. The compound is tranquil and filled with calm after the tragedy.

While most experts believe that the baray had a mainly symbolic function-serving as an enormous earthly representation of the Hindu Sea of Creation-it may also have fed canals used for irrigation in the dry season. The West Mebon is located on an artificial island and consists of a large square with 11 stepped levels and a sandstone island at its center, which once housed a reclining statue of Vishnu. A fragment of this statue was found in 1936 on the advice of a farmer. Considered the largest bronze statue in Khmer art, it is currently on display at the National Museum in Phnom Penh.

Last weekend, we spent one night camping at West Baray, Siem Reap. It was a peaceful and beautiful place by the big lake. The sunset was amazing, with orange and pink colors across the sky. We set up our tent near the water and made a small fire to cook dinner. At night, the air was cool and fresh, and we could see many stars shining above. We talked, laughed, and enjoyed the quiet sound of nature. In the morning, we watched the sunrise and felt calm and happy. It was a simple and wonderful camping experience to remember.

The West Baray is an ancient Khmer Empire reservoir that was built close to 1,000 years ago. It was used both as both a religious monument with temples on an island and along the shore, and to irrigate the vast rice fields in the area. The ancient city of Angkor Thom was built just a short distance to the East of the West Baray. Popular both with tourists visiting the Angkor temples and locals coming to enjoy a family outing along the shore. There are boats available to visit the island temple and a bathing beach with food shops, umbrellas and inner-tubes for rent, at the south-western corner of the Baray.

I went over there and I saw many tourists ( foreigners) as well local tourists enjoyed their relaxations with their families, their groups, their friends, and there are many local fruits for sales and its price is reasonable , tasteful, and sellers are so friendly and also water of Western Baray (Lake) is so clear and there are many boats for waiting the tourists to visit the Western Mebon Temple ( this temple in the middle of lake as in the east and there is 1 pagoda with) and I really like visiting this site and I can look the sunset or sunrise, too. A huge, man made reservoir that was built to feed the waters into canals for rice fields, during dry season - that was being told to me! However, many locals would flock to West Barray especially at week ends and holidays for fun time!! A great time for family - swimming, boating. Hammocks were constructed and to rent out. Local food being sold here.
