Onechako Surf School

Surf school
Tours
Surfing, Windsurfing & Kitesurfing
Onechako Surf School is a fantastic destination for both beginners and those looking to refine their surfing skills. Families have enjoyed multiple lessons, with instructors like Andre and Aaron ensuring safety while making the experience fun, especially in choppy waters. The school’s prime location right by the beginner-friendly beach adds to its appeal. New surfers can expect comprehensive instruction that covers everything from paddling techniques to riding waves, even if language barriers exist.
Tito is an excellent surf coach, very supportive and on point with instruction. Stoked to catch my own waves after a few lessons as a beginner and also as someone nervous about being in waves. He was able to adapt the lesson to me and my partner with different abilities in the same session. Highly recommend!
Rachel C — Google review
Spent two days doing surf lessons with Edwin and loved it! He’s such a nice guy and was really helpful. Learned lots about surfing and the local area. Would definitely recommend!
Cormac S — Google review
Took my first surf lesson here. Despite having a limitation in communication due to my poor Spanish skills I learned how to stand up on my first try. I felt all the bases were covered in a beginner level course on how to paddle out efficiently, paddle over waves and ride. Nice guys work here and they gave me a great recommendation for ceviche. Ask for Mateo!
Robert N — Google review
Would highly recommend this surf school! I had a lesson with Erick which was great and then we rented boards for the two days after. Tito took us to the bus station for free as a deal because we surfed with them for three days. Tito and Erick were lovely and made us feel really welcome. Muchas gracias 😁
Ashley A — Google review
Amazing shop, the last day of my trip I joined the owner as he taught some kids. He got the spot really dialled in and I caught some best waves of the trip. Thanks a lot. Also board are really good quality.
Cameron T — Google review
Really good surf school. Excellent selection of surfboards in great condition, best in town from what we saw. Friendly team and super helpful too. Luis was an amazing teacher, super helpful as an advanced beginner/intermediate looking to progress, made so much progress with him in only a few lessons!
Alexd2468 — Google review
Our family took about 15 surfing classes with Onechako and we had a great time. Special thanks to Andre and Aaron for taking care of the kids in the sometimes choppy water and making sure we were all safe and had fun. Tito was very accommodative with lesson times etc and provided useful tips. The school is located right in front of the beginners beach, which is very convenient.

One of the best surf schools in Huanchaco! The surf teachers are very fun and are also really knowledgable. Would 100% recommend!!

Muchik Surf School and Shop

Surf school
Tours
Surfing, Windsurfing & Kitesurfing
The surf school, Muchik Surf School and Shop, offers an exceptional experience at Chichos place. They provide thorough theoretical explanations on the third floor, accompanied by mathematical concepts. In addition to this, they offer practical demonstrations through videos and hands-on surfing lessons. The student-instructor ratio is well-balanced, with one instructor for every two students, ensuring individual attention and care. Chicho and Esteban are highly praised for their expertise in teaching.
Went to Huanchaco to learn the local surf before chicama and discovered Muchik. We met Alex and the most wonderful owner reina and they were wonderful. Highly recommend learning the local surf with them at your back, excellent training for these waves and solid foundations to improve my surf every day forward. I love longboarding and it’s a wonderful place for all levels. Locals are chill and accepting, at least when it’s not peak season when I experienced it but I’m sure there are way more “locals” from Peru that come when it’s going off. Only recommendation is to build your paddle strength before you get there so you can enjoy it more
Kelly A — Google review
I definitely recommend this surf shop, my friends needed lessons and they absolutely enjoyed it with really good teacher ( brando and Bryan), I rented boards for 10 days, they allowed me to change whenever I wanted. The boards were really nice and clean, with a large panel of choice. Victor was here during this 10 days and made our experience better, nice, funny and professional, always here with a smile and good advices on where to surf. Always ready to help you for whatever you need besides surfing. Must go in Huanchaco !
Adrien D — Google review
My 3rd time ever in any ocean, never surfed, and Bryan had me standing up my first time on the board. Victor and Bryan went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and set up with rentals our entire stay in Huanchaco. Giving us ideal times to surf, where to surf to be safe and have a comfortable time outside of lessons. Thank you!!
Danielle C — Google review
The whole crew at Muchik surf school made our Huanchaco stay a very lovely and cozy experience. Being the oldest surf school in town (possibly one of oldest in Peru), the approach to the surf class was quite high level- Omar (one of the owners) first evaluated my technique of standup & paddling, etc on land and then recommended tips for improvement before getting in the water. I am intermediate beginner so I was looking for advanced training/class and surf spot guidance, which I got within 20 mins land session followed by water practice where I felt immediately the improvement. There’s also a wide selection of boards the school offers , short & long, hard boards &soft boards… Rental includes wetsuits and booties. If renting for more days you can take these with you so that you keep the same board & wetsuit (highly recommended if you fall in love with a specific board or wetsuit, since they might only have 1-2 in the size) The instructors were very nice and respectful in&out of water- even outside of lessons they’ve cheered for our progress and helped us with tips whenever they’d notice us surfing. Thanks to all the crew - Brian, Elix and Carlito - for the waves, vibes and all🤙🏽

Amazing Surfshop! Nicest people , good prices and good boards. I had three lessons and it really helped me improving my skills. 10/10 would recommend
Rob 0 — Google review
Amazing experience at this surf school! They take the time to explain theory and then practice in the water, so as beginners we were able to learn, progress and especially have a super fun time! Very kind people as well, I recommend this place if you are looking for a surf school in Huanchaco.
Lizzy P — Google review
Friendly staff, good boards and wetsuits, great service (they charge fair prices if you damage the boards). Highly recommend! Special shout out to Victor and Brian. 🙌🏼
Liesje L — Google review
Seriously, go to muchik if you want to learn how to surf - the surfinstructors there are awesome!!Not only are they always friendly and cheerful, theyre also very attentive, adjusting to whatever you need or wish. They surf every day after they finish teaching, and if you spot them in the water youre always welcome to join them or ask for tips. They became close friends of mine throughout my stay and I'm going to miss their fun and enthousiastic presence a lot. Brando, Bryan, Marga, Chicho, muchas gracias por todo, los amo tanto!

It was a great experience by trying causas and their special ceviche with huanchaco sauce. Really enjoyed every second killing my dish.

Best place for ceviche de corvina. It’s $$ comparing to other restaurants in the same location, but you are paying for the quality of your foods!!! The fresh lemonade was perfect with any meals and so refreshing. Definitely come back here again soon.

Nice view to the beach, food was very good specially "ceviche" and shrimps.

Im here right now. I got the Ceviche de Pescado and I immediately stopped eating just to write that review. I spent 2 months in Mancora eating the best ceviches and this Ceviche (Huanchaco Beach) is by far the best I have ever eaten. Fish looks good, seasoned and made super-well and tasty. Big portion. I gave it 4 stars just because it is expensive, for a fish ceviche I payed 39 /s which is quite a lot.

Beautiful place, beautiful people, beautiful vibes. From my opinion, I would say the best hostel in Peru. It has everything you need. A clean, spacious, well equipped kitchen, with a local market just around the corner, so very nice to be cooking some healthy stuff after lots of traveling and eating out. The living room feels much like a home and there are many nice spots / hammocks to sit and relax with the view of the ocean. There is (free) coffee every morning ☕️, very professional and affordable yoga lessons every day. Last but not least; the surf is amazing in Huanchaco. 🙏🏼 @Atma, thank you so much for the hospitality and pleasant stay ❤️

Archeological complex El Brujo

Archaeological museum
Museums
Ancient, Moche-era archeological complex with ruins, art, wall designs, a mummy & various artifacts.
We started our trip at 10 am at Trujillo center and finished around 3:30pm.The pieces of art is great . The lady of chaos is the unique piece in the north of Peru in such a great preservation, showing the importance of this woman in that place. You will need to pay s/10 for entry to the museum. I will recommend to accept only payments in order to avoid problems to people who don't carry cash. Toilets very clean and everything well organized.
Henreli C — Google review
I spent some really interesting hours in the archaeological complex El Brujo. It covers thousands of years of uninterrupted human occupation. The complex is situated about 70 km north of Trujillo. It is about a 45 minutes drive from Trujillo and absolutely worth the trip. The latest excavations carried out at the pyramid called Huaca Cao have revealed a ceremonial site that is 1800 years old. It was built with the intention to bury a royal person. They found a mummified young female person. The condition of the mummy was so good that the could see tattooes on different parts of her body. We could see the body in the museum. She was called: La dama de Cao, (The Lady of Cao) and we could see a lot of artefacts and jewellery. After seeing the museum, we walked around in the huaca, and it was really interesting. This was the Moche culture, and I recommend reading about the Moche before you visit El Brujo. And it is also interesting to make a stop in the nearby village Magdalena de Cao. Lots of nice paintings on the walls of the houses.
Alfhild H — Google review
I most see if you already saw Chan Chan, Huaca del sol and Huaca de la Luna. They have a " mummified woman ruler". The site is one hour away from the city of Trujillo but the trip is worth it.
Gian S — Google review
Awesome site! Didn’t see a witch or wizard but the paintings and walls were very impressive! One of the better sites around Trujillo, and quite straightforward to reach without a tour, just leave yourself plenty of time for the return as the colectivo was slow to fill back from Magdalena
Tristan R — Google review
The archaeological site of El Brujo is absolutely amazing! The ruins are impressive and the museums are very well organized and informative. This was an important ceremonial complex of the Moche culture, dating back to around 100–750 AD. You can still see the remains of pyramids, temples, and incredible murals that tell stories of rituals and daily life. One of the highlights is learning about the Señora de Cao, a female ruler discovered here, whose tomb and artifacts are beautifully displayed in the museum. A fascinating place that combines history, culture, and stunning views of the coast—definitely worth the visit!
Adrian H — Google review
This place was see inspiring considering it was built 1000 years before the Incas. You could easily spend all day walking around
David M — Google review
Not quite as impressive size wise as some of the other archeological sites we had visited. However the number of tombs discovered so far really give an insight to the changing burial techniques over time. A lack of funds has temporarily stopped any further excavation. If you visit Peru it is still worth the effort.
David F — Google review
Pyramids nowhere near as impressive as later Inca, Azrec or Mayan structures and they have been greatly eroded by rain. However the excavations show an advanced culture fir ghe time. The museum gives an excellent interpretation and there is a room full of gold clothing, ornaments etc that the Spaniards missed giving us all a better insight into the distant. past

Hillside remains dating back 3,000 years, with carved monoliths, a museum and mountain views.
It's a very interesting place if you are familiar with or interested in ancient Peruvian civilization. If you are not very interested in history or archaeology it is still a beautiful outdoor site overlooking a deep valley. I'm amazed by the ancient Peruvians and find their styles mysterious, and Kuntur Wasi and museum were another piece of the puzzle.

Hacienda La Colpa

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Hacienda La Colpa is a stunning location with a charming chapel and magnificent architecture. The cows are enticed to eat through the use of their names being called out, adding to the picturesque scene. The "mirador" offers a breathtaking view, while various amenities like cheese, wine, and manjarblanco can be purchased. This vast hacienda showcases Cajamarca's finest products such as cheeses, delicacies, and cookies.
Beautiful place, a lovely Capilla in place beautiful building. The calling of cows by name to come and eat! Lovely seeight at the "mirador" in place. You can buy ammenities all type of cheese, wine, manjarblanco and oths
Patricia O — Google review
The animals all need better treatment. All around, everything is green and the animals stand in cramped stalls without run or are tied to short ropes and displayed for the visitors. So were two calves at the entrance, which were thus at the mercy of all the visitors. The "show", where the cows supposedly listen to their name and come in, is a farce. A wanna be cowboy, who knows the names by heart, swings his whip with some kind of explosive in it. It sounds like a gunshot every time. A lot of kids were crying and scared and we adults didn't like it either. The cows just have their hierarchy and know who gets to go in and when. That's all there is to it. This is not an original farm like it's supposed to be. It's all just a show to make money. Save yours.

Cerro Santa Apolonia is a vibrant hill in Cajamarca, Peru, associated with the ancient Chavín people. It features tombs and an observation tower. The journey to the top is almost as pleasant as the destination, with walking paths spiraling around the whole hilltop.

Nestled in the charming San Sebastian neighborhood, the Iglesia y Convento de La Recoleta stands as a stunning example of 18th-century baroque architecture. Its elegant stone facade, adorned with slender belfries and a triple arch design, captivates visitors at any hour, though it truly shines during the evening when the lighting enhances its beauty.

It was built in the 18th century, the façade of the Recoleta Church is sober, carved in stone and highlighted by slender belfries in a triple arch. Currently, the "San Ramón" School and the "Santa Teresita" Kindergarten and the former "Belén" Women's School operate in this Church. It is said that, during the Chilean invasion of the city of Cajamarca, the soldiers tried to enter this church to loot it, at that same moment an earthquake occurred. That earthquake caused the Chileans to flee, saving the religious relics there. Ransom Room, also known as "Cuarto del Rescate," is a significant historical site located in Cajamarca. This small stone building holds great historical importance as it was the place where the last Inca Emperor, Atahualpa, was imprisoned by the Spanish before his eventual execution in 1532. The room is a reminder of the pivotal moment when the Spanish began to assert their dominance over South America and take control from the Inca Empire.
It's a small stone building where you can see lots of history. In it you can see the line where the Atahualpa was supposed to fill the room to gold, but he got executed anyway.
Chin H — Google review
Historic site and the only preserved Inca building in Cajamarca. This is where Atahualpa, the last Inca, offered to fill the room with gold and silver in exchange for his freedom after being captured by the Spaniards. A small but very important place that tells a key part of Peru’s history.

Aidan — Google review
The "Cuarto del Rescate," or Ransom Room, has interesting historical significance and is neatly nestled between the newer buildings of Cajamarca. There is some signage and adequate preservation effort inside, but they could definitely benefit from adding a sign that gives some clearer historical context (there is not even one in Spanish right now, let alone English). Otherwise, for such a low entrance fee that also permits entrance into a few other sites in the surrounding blocks, the Ransom Room is definitely worth checking out for 5-10 minutes.

Laguna San Nicolás

Bodies of Water
Laguna San Nicolás is an off-the-beaten-path destination in Peru, offering a unique experience similar to Lake Titicaca. Located in a remote area of Cajamarca, the lagoon can be accessed via dirt roads like other destinations in the country. Although it may initially appear desolate and quiet, visitors have the opportunity to take a quick boat ride for a nominal fee using a simple rope and pull system. The boat itself is made from straw, adding to its intriguing charm.
Minutes before arriving your tour group will send your food request to the local restaurant, is a great, is very homey and they will treat you with the respect that you deserve
Aldo V — Google review
Off the beaten path location to visit. Been wanting to experience Peru’s lake tititaca for the similar boats and man made islands, so I was excited to see this nearby Cajamarca. Place itself is located in a remote area, access on dirt roads like most of country destinations. When I arrived by taxi not in a tour the lagoon seemed desolate and quiet. But I was able to arrange a quick boat ride for 5 soles. Which just consisted of a rope & pull system to the center of the lagoon. The man made boat from straw was interesting to ride. It was quite windy so I was happy to return to dock after a short pull. Didn’t get to venture to other side of lagoon or have lunch. Though it was a nice, mysterious, serene place.

Ventanillas de Otuzco

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Plundered tombs line a cliff of volcanic rock at this necropolis, a unique archaeological site.
A quick but interesting visit! The Ventanillas de Otuzco are ancient funerary niches carved into volcanic rock, giving you a glimpse into the burial traditions of pre-Inca cultures. The site is small and doesn’t require much time — you can see everything in about 15–20 minutes. Entrance is very affordable (S/ 5 per adult). Worth a short stop if you’re in Cajamarca!
Adrian H — Google review
Very interesting place. But sadly the people working here were very rude. When I arrived I wanted to ask where to park my motorcycle. As soon as I pulled up they started screaming at me, it was honestly impressive how quickly they started shouting. I took the hint and drove off to find parking on my own. Well back after parking they continued being rude. The ruins themselves are cool, but information is very limited. Just basic facts are stated, like altitude abound sea level and dimensions of the niches. Not a lot of history about the site itself. Maybe the rudeness coloured my entire visit, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this place again. In my travels from Unites States to Argentina on said bike, I’ve never encountered such treatment before. In any of the 12 countries so far.
Gustaf N — Google review
This place is ancient. It was used as a burial ground 300 years before Christianity was a thing. Totally worth the visit.
Brian W — Google review
An impressive historical site. Entry fee of about S./5 per person. It's a short climb upwards and you can see the large mausoleum.
Chin H — Google review
Certainly not the most important site in the country, but it's so easy and cheap to visit that I would personally recommend it. Just take a collectivo from the city center (the ride takes about 20 min) - it will drop you off literally at the entrance to the site. There you will not need more than one hour. On the way back the collectivos also run very frequently. So in 1,5-2 hours you will be back at the city center.
Dmitry S — Google review
Not a large site, but given its proximity to Cajamarca, worth the trip out. I recommend going by combi bus which can easily be found at the Plazuela Bolognesi heading for Otuzco. Cost is 1-2 soles and takes about 1/2 hour. Beautiful area and an interesting bit of history. Most tour companies come in the afternoon, so a morning arrival will give you better views with less crowds.
Mike B — Google review
Great nature escape from the city. You can get the colectivo for 2pen pp and the entrance is 5pen normal or 2pen for students. Get the colectivo around the main market/plaza del armas, or infront of the mega plaza.

Museums
Located in Peru, the Leymebamba Museum is home to mummies found at Laguna de los Condores. The museum, owned by the local community, showcases these mummies in a climate-controlled room behind glass. The complex's architecture pays tribute to indigenous design and offers visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history and culture.
Absolutely incredible. The mummies and their amount are astonishing, and mainly the whole museum is just so impressive and well thought, from the architecture to the garden surrounding it. Wonderful and amazing, very recommend to stop by if you're in the area. Open untill 16:30 (last entrance) Ticket was 30 soles

Great museum with an impressive collection, a must-do after visiting the Chachapoyas region and sites. We visited in the morning and were the only visitors. The next ones arrived after lunch so we had the whole museum for ourselves. We were also allowed to leave our luggage there for a few hours before taking the bus to Cajamarca.

It was a good visit if you are in the area. I was in Leymebamba, so I decided to visit, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to onky come visit this place if you are in a different city. The main thing to see, mummies, is in the locked room which is humidity controlled. There isn't a lot going on apart from that. And if you didn't drive, there aren't much taxis or motos you can find in Leymebamba sadly that will twke you there. A restaurant worker took me there for 30 soles return for a 4 kms ride.

Spectacular museum, without a doubt one of the most important in the Amazon. The collection is impressive and the visit is absolutely worth it. Very well organized, clean, and well maintained. Everything is super well explained, and the staff is extremely kind and welcoming. You’ll find an impressive collection of mummies discovered at Laguna de los Cóndores, along with artifacts that tell the story of this fascinating civilization. A must visit!!

This museum is unbelievable! There are artifacts from different civilizations across Peru. They have some of the most well-preserved I’ve seen; including textiles, jewelry, weapons, ceramics, carvings, animals and mummified bodies. In addition, the museum itself is gorgeous, impeccably maintained and surrounded by lush gardens. The drive is a bit difficult to arrive there, but well worth it 💯! I feel blessed to have been able to see such things.

Very very interesting museum, some of the rarest and best preserved mummies and other artifacts are on display - fantastic place with beautiful gardens, attentive stuff to ask a lot of questions, it's also possible to walk the rooms on ones own and discover all of the exhibits. There is still research ongoing and archeologists from different places were still working there, when we visited.
Gab L — Google review
The museum was very well kept and pretty, while showing the heritage of the Chachapoyas areas. The highlight in particular was the archaeological finds of the Leymebamba mummies, crouched in fetal positions.

It’s a beautiful small museum. The garden is fantastic. We came earlier and waiting for the museum staff coming to open the door. It’s really enjoyable and relaxing wandering the small garden and appreciate those colorful florals.

Mausoleum of Revash

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
The Mausoleum of Revash is a complex of cliffside funerary houses dating back to the 14th century, located about 3000 meters above sea level and accessible from the town of San Bartolo. The 2 km hike to reach this mystical spot offers a gorgeous and relatively easy day trip for families. Although it's no longer possible to get close to the site, it remains a beautiful and historically significant destination worth visiting.
Good day trip on tour. The hike to and from the mausoleos is gorgeous. Very mystical spot in a small town in Peru. We did the day tour with the caves as a destination. Would definitely recommend.

The site itself is very interesting, but the journey there, including the ride up the valley, the walk through the village, and the hike on the well maintained trail are all fascinating as well. I recommend hiring a guide (30 soles) at the tourist office in San Bartolo to learn o about the site and life in the village.
Tim M — Google review
Absolutely worth the visit! The hike to the mausoleos takes around 1h30 and is very nice, surrounded by beautiful nature. Along the way you get stunning views of the canyon and the mountains, and once you arrive, the sight of the mausoleos built on the cliffside is impressive. A fascinating place full of history and amazing landscapes!

It’s easy walking to the site. Unfortunately it’s no longer to get in to appreciate closely.

Not worth it.. Don't go the tourism office in San Bartolo they will charge you 15 Soles which way too much for what you can see

Kuelap Fortress

Mentioned on

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The ruins of Kuelap, a fortress built between the 9th and 11th centuries by the Chachapoya culture, are located on a mountain peak and surrounded by an impressive wall up to 20m high. The structure is oval-shaped, with three narrow gates that act as a clever security system to force attackers into single-file lines. This historical landmark was rediscovered in 1843 and made up of millions of cubic feet of remarkably preserved stone.
All I can say is wow. This site is amazing, the walk through the historical buildings is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. It isn't a huge sight and there is a 1.4km hike up hill to the actual site once you get off the cable cars but it's worth it (you could rent a horse if you wanted to). It's quite uneven so if mobility is an issue you might need to take care.
Lisa W — Google review
Important note to everyone planning to visit Kuelap: it is only possible to buy the entry ticket to the archeological site online (with national or international credit card). Currently, as of August 2025, the regular ticket price is 30 Soles. The ticket to the teleferico can still be purchased on the spot (cash or national credit card only). The price was 25,50 Soles.

I was a bijr skeptical about heading there, but if you are already doing gocta, then why not. Archeological site is ome thing, I was more impressed by the views on this place. So good that I kept looking at them. Plus the cable car heading up is also amazing. Important thing to notice that they don't sell the tickets for the fortress itself anywhere. You have to buy it online I'm going to add the QR code to do so which also has the website. If you go to the cable car entrance, they will also tell you to book it online. And the idea to book that is that choose an entrance which will be at least 1 hour or 1.5 hours later to when you are at the cable car insurance because it will take 20 minutes to get up then almost 30 minutes of walking to that place and then you will have you will get the limit end entry so choose your entry time one or 1.5 hours later.

Kuélap is absolutely amazing! The place is full of energy and history, surrounded by stunning vegetation and mountain views. The whole tour inside takes about 2 hours, with lots of ruins and impressive walls to explore. Entrance is S/ 20 (online only). To get there you have three options: • Hiking (very hard), • By car (Nogalcucho or Choctamal), • Or the cable car, which we chose and highly recommend! It costs around S/ 27 per person, takes about 25 minutes, and offers breathtaking views. Important note: Kuélap is not only a fortress, but a whole fortified city built by the Chachapoyas culture around 900–1100 AD. The cable car itself was built with French technology and is super modern and safe. Definitely one of the most impressive experiences in northern Peru!

A magnificent site, with all the round houses in the typical Chachapoyas style. However, do note that there was a landslide early in 2023 and some parts are still under repair (and the walk is a little muddy, since it is not intended to be the main one.). Fantastic scenery though.

Kuelap fortress - again, out of the way and so incredibly old and historical. Our guide Kristian really knew his stuff - we saw to most amazing pre-Incan structures. The gondola we had to ride to visit the fortress gave us panoramic views that were to die for! Good loop walk. Please note that you do need your passport with your ticket.

It was so amazing 👏 built 1000 years, BC!!! Unbelievable, so beautiful up here, orchids and bromeliad grow upon trees and a wealth of birds 🐦 including hummingbirds, grace the citadel. The 4km cable car 🚡 was just awesome. It's all so interesting. If you can't make the final climb, you can hire a horse. Take a guide for a full experience ✨️

Nestled on the Cerro Luya Urco, just a kilometer from the vibrant Plaza de Armas in Chachapoyas, lies the enchanting Pozo de Yanayacu. This captivating site is steeped in legend, believed to have been created when Toribio de Mogrovejo touched a rock with his walking stick, causing a spring to emerge and quench the region's thirst during a dry spell.

(Translated by Google) The walk to the place is very beautiful. Unfortunately it is very neglected. The indications and the historical overview of the place are destroyed, the road dirty with wrappers and plastic bottles. At the top of the well there is a platform with the letters of the city's name and it is dirty. It could be used for a picnic after the walk or to stay to enjoy the atmosphere but people have left a lot of plastic in the grass.

Plaza de Armas of Chachapoyas is a beautiful and bustling square located in the heart of the Peruvian mountains. The area offers a tranquil and clean atmosphere, with friendly locals and a variety of restaurants to enjoy. Visitors can explore the nearby market for regional produce and fruits before embarking on treks and tours. The plaza itself boasts stunning architecture and is currently undergoing renovation works.
Long drive to get there, but worth it. The town has narrow roads, so driving a car needs care, but roads are mostly one way in the centre. Road condition is poor, getting to the town in places, and terrible driving to Kuelap, which is disappointing, as everything else is modernised. The good thing is there are no moto taxis
