Visitors can enjoy a self-guided two- to three-hour walk with stops at nine natural pools, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts.
I haven’t seen much about Brazil yet, but this definitely was the best place I visited. Lots of little italian restaurants in the middle of “nowhere”, each one with their own unique style of architecture and their own dishes. Many of the restaurants have beautiful views to the Pedra Azul. 100% recommend this place.

Just driving to this area is worth it. We took the 2.5 hour route leaving BR-101 from Fundão, then Santa Teresa, Santa Maria de Jetibá, Garrafão, before reaching Aracê. Beautiful route. To top it off, the even more beautiful Pedra Azul. We drove to the entrance of the park. Quite touristy and busy. Most people stay here for some photos and a visit to the restaurant and shop. Luckily so. Although right of the restaurant it stated that all trails were closed for the day since maximum of 150 persons was sold out, you can still walk about 1.5km up the mountain to the Park Rangers post. Only there the trails actually start that were limited access with permit. That first walk is highly recommended and easy to do for all, although flat shoes with profile is recommended. There is also a small beautiful cherry tree park just below the post that you can visit.

The park is home to a rich variety of plant and animal life, from colorful orchids and bromeliads to playful monkeys and exotic birds. The park's crystal-clear rivers and sparkling waterfalls also provide a refreshing escape from the heat of the day, while the tranquil beauty of the park's forests and meadows invite visitors to relax and reconnect with nature. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a first-time visitor, Pedra Azul State Park is a must-see destination that will leave you in awe of Brazil's natural wonders.

It isn't big but has very interesting shops with something peculiar. It is good for a walk and good for travellers that are passing by Juiz de Fora as there are many good food options. From Mac something to good restaurants. The only negative point I noticed on my visit, is that the parking is not good for medium to big size cars. (Translated by Google) Casa da Hera belonged to Joaquim José Teixeira Leite, a coffee commissioner in the region. The house was built in the first half of the 19th century and Joaquim bought it to live in with his future wife, Ana Esméria Pontes França. The two lived with their two daughters on the property. Eufrasia Teixeira Leite is the only sister portrayed in the house and, after her death in 1930, she left the house and the lands of the farm were inherited by the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today, it is managed by IBRAM. The house is very well preserved and the tour is guided, and it is advisable to book in advance; however, you can leave your name at the reception and wait for the next group of visitors. The preserved furniture and rooms serve as illustration for the guide's account, which tells the whole story in detail. It is a journey through Brazil's past and tells a little about the importance of coffee and the luxurious life of the barons in the times of the big house and the sensation. The gardens on the property are worth a visit and the bamboo tunnel is a must-see! There are also dolls in the outdoor area that pay homage to Mariana Crioula and Manuel Congo, who led the slave rebellion in Vassouras, the largest in the Paraíba Valley. The guided tour of the house and the tour of the property are free and well worth it. No food or drink is sold on site. There are bathrooms.

It is a natural park in Minas Gerais state. The park is wonderful, full of sedimentary rocks and natural vegetation, some streams and caves. You can trail everywhere there and have fun in contact with nature. I also recommend going to "janela do céu" (window of the sky), which is a very long walking trail. It is tiring, but worth the visit. About the park itself, I do recommend it.

The park is amazingly beautiful, great choice for camping, enjoy some fresh air, hiking, waterfalls, watching birds and wild life. The sky at night is so full of stars! It's a quite big park and maybe two, three or even four days might be necessary to see everything, but anything u see of it it will worth it! I do recommend it!

Great place for a hike! There are trails also suitable for kids. However, make sure your knees are healthy. There are lots of ups and downs.
Paulo F — Google review
Make no mistake my friends, this is one of the greatest places to visit at least once in your lifetimes. It's not simple or easy to get to, and some of the trails are definitely not for beginners, but it's worth every little drop of sweat to climb up to the window of the sky (janela do céu) and enjoy the unique experience this place has to offer. It's ao marvelous it's almost mystic.

Túnel Maria Nossar (Túnel que Chora) is a significant historical site in the Vale do Café, inaugurated in the presence of the imperial family for the purpose of creating a railway to transport coffee. This tunnel, like many other structures in the area, was built by slaves using rough stone and measures 95m long, 5m wide, and 3.5m high. Its peculiar name "Tunnel that Cries" raises curiosity about its origins.
Great Tunnel built by Brazilian slaves end to end.

Park
Itatiaia National Park, Brazil's first national park, boasts a diverse range of landscapes from dense rainforests to rugged peaks. The lower section offers accessible trails leading to waterfalls and natural swimming holes, while the remote high country provides excitement for serious hikers and climbers. Visitors can enjoy abundant flora and fauna including orchids, monkeys, and tropical birds. Accessing the upper portion may require a high-clearance vehicle due to challenging roads.
Wonderful national park at Itataia. It's possible to visit the park on foot, bike or by car. Visitors entering the park by car must pay an extra fee (around R$ 24,00) to take it's paved and non paved roads on a motored vehicle. The activities available at the park for visitors range from a beautiful cultural centre with many historical highlights, track trails in a rich forest terrain, magnificent waterfalls to admire and freshen up, numerous bird watching spots, and exuberant viewpoints of the Mantiqueira Mountain and it's wildlife. The difficulty of tracks may vary a lot. Upon entry on the park, visitors are given a detailed map, which shows what's possible to do whilst visiting the site. The park is basically divided into a lower and an upper part. The most demanding tracks, which are also those that one needs to plan in advance, are located in the upper part of park. In those areas, it's possible to camp on designated areas or stay for the night at one of the park's lodging houses (reservation in advance needed). In the park's website, there are lots of information for visitors, and high definition pdf maps for downloading, as well as a list of well trained guides on the park whenever the need arises. It's not possible to park in any spot by the road, the permitted parking areas will be sign posted. All around the park, it's possible to see restaurants, hotels and other private properties, which means there's no time available to do everything you'll find at the park. It's a highly recommended visit, and a place not to forget.
