Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Ikalto Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is a historic complex dating back to the 6th century. Founded by Saint Zenon, it was renowned as a center of learning and culture. The monastery features the Church of Transfiguration and the ruins of an ancient academy where Shota Rustaveli, Georgia's national poet, studied in the 12th century. The grounds are adorned with antique Qvevri, creating a picturesque setting.
Visiting the Ikalto Monastery and Academy was a deeply emotional and inspiring experience. Knowing that the great Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli studied here gives the place an extraordinary sense of history and cultural depth. As I walked through the ancient grounds, memories of my favorite childhood book, “The Boys of Ikalto”, came rushing back to life. It felt as if the stories had stepped out of the pages and into the real world around me. A truly magical and meaningful place that beautifully connects the past with the present
Tam — Google review
The church itself and the area around it is beautiful. You feel like you went back it time by seeing all the ruins around the church. It feels very nice there. The inside of the church is currently being supported by metal construction which doesn't make the interior looks that nice anymore but it's not that it's very special. On the other side, the parking area of the church is full of holes and the stones are around the place. When you go down to the WC, it's all closed beside the one for those with special needs. If you look inside it looks 10x worse than toilets in horrible train stations. 🤮 Overall, I would recommend this place but some part of it are disgusting.
Ekaterine ( — Google review
The Ikhalto Academy is currently a true construction site. The entire complex is undergoing extensive restoration, and the situation is quite dire for visitors: the interior is completely inaccessible, as a dense framework of metal scaffolding and wooden supports obscures the nave and the walls entirely. From the outside, you can see the old stone structure propped up by temporary beams, while inside, a massive metal skeleton dominates the space, making it impossible to appreciate any of the original architecture or decoration. As a reminder, the Ikhalto Academy was originally established between the 11th and 13th centuries, though the first educational building on the site dates back to the 8th–9th centuries. It became one of the most important cultural and scholastic centres of medieval Georgia, founded by the theologian and philosopher Arsen Ikaltoeli. Given the scale of the work and the current state of the site, it is clear that it will be quite some time before the renovations are completed and the academy can be visited in proper conditions again.

Ikalto Monastery is one of the most important historical sites in Georgia! With big History and architecture! It it worth visiting and landscape around the monastery is also worth seeing! Easy to reach by car or by foot and enjoy the nature! No waiting Time

The Ikalto monastery was founded by St Zenon, one of the 13 Assyrian Fathers, in the late 6th century. It was known as one of the most significant cultural-scholastic centres of Georgia. Includes the ruins of a medieval- 12th century- university.

Gombori Pass

Outdoor Activities
Scenic Drives
Gombori Pass, located about a two-hour drive from Tbilisi, offers breathtaking views of the Caucasus mountains. The journey is adorned with colorful trees and opportunities to purchase fresh honey. While there are no facilities at the pass, visitors can relax and take in the stunning scenery. However, ongoing road construction has left the route rocky and dusty, limiting access to some viewpoints.
It`s a top of the mount with small parking, to have a rest for you and a car, take some beutifull photo and enjoy a breathtaking views from the top of the world)

Lovely views with snowy backdrop mountains ,windy roads , we saw this as part of our wine tour on the way home for sunset
Dermot C — Google review
Where the Mountains Get Playful Oh, Gombori Pass (უღ. გომბორი)! Buckle up, buttercups, because this isn't just a road; it's Georgia's answer to a roller coaster, but with more sheep and significantly better views. As you ascend, winding your way through the mountains, you might feel like you've accidentally driven into a postcard... a slightly dizzying, incredibly green postcard. The road twists and turns with all the enthusiasm of a puppy chasing its tail. One moment you're admiring a breathtaking panorama of the Alazani Valley, the next you're squinting to see around a curve, wondering if that patch of fog is mystical or just bad driving conditions. It’s a constant battle between "Wow, look at that!" and "Please don't let me drive off the edge!" But honestly, the views are worth every stomach lurch. The air is crisp, the mountains are majestic, and you'll emerge on the other side feeling like a seasoned explorer, possibly with a slight need for a strong coffee. Or, you know, more Georgian wine. It's a journey, darling, not just a drive!
Pixel V — Google review
Love the views from there in good weather. You can find there a small spring of tasty cold water. If driving during the night, stop the engine and enjoy the silence we all miss today.
Sandro K — Google review
This is an excellent place to drive to. The views of the Caucasus mountains are really amazing. The whole drive from Tblisi city to here will take you about two hours. On the way you will come across beautiful color changing trees as well as people selling fresh honey. You can spend an hour or two just sitting and relaxing at this place. There are however, no Public restrooms or other facilities so you should come prepared.

Fantastic route and well paved road. Ideal alternative way to go tobTbilisi from Kaheti and avoides the truchs and crowds on the other road. Scenery is amazing.

Alaverdi Monastery

Mentioned on
6 lists
Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Alaverdi Monastery, a fortress-style structure dating back to the 11th century, is an impressive site not to be missed. The monastery boasts a towering basilica and features an on-site vineyard for wine production. While the interior showcases beautiful paintings, altars, and incense-filled air, visitors are required to dress modestly. Although the inside may be closed for renovations at times, the surrounding green areas offer a peaceful setting for prayer and reflection.
A beautiful historic monastery in the middle of the Kakheti winemaking region. It is a beautiful place to visit on its own merit, then there is the fact that it is a rather important Orthodox Christian church of the region and, of course, there is honey and the very famous wine. The wine is a story of its own as it is one of the first proper Georgian wines I tried and immediately fell in love with. It’s a full bodied amber / orange natural wine, full of apricots, pink plums and quince, with lots of tannin, nice acidity and overall very good complexity. The wine is too expensive at this point but you are drinking history more or less at this point.
Yevgen G — Google review
An impressive monastery. The cathedral is currently undergoing restoration - lots of scaffolding. Despite the construction, it's a very peaceful place. It makes for a great short stop if you're driving through the area. There is a small shop with monastery items. Important Info: - There is no entrance fee. - No photos/videos are allowed inside the monastery. - Dress respectfully (shoulders/knees covered). They provide trousers for men and long skirts for women at the entrance.
Timm S — Google review
It is under rehabilitation. So sad that they can’t restore all the paintings inside due to financial issue. You can still feel the solemnity of Georgian Orthodox Church though.
Sesame W — Google review
Currently under renovation, so many areas were closed offand the church tower and much of the walls are covered in scaffolding. Church itself is very impressive, as are the graves and the gardens. It's still well worth visiting.
Phil M — Google review
Currently under construction after the tornado incident a few years ago. No entrance fee, no photos inside the cathedral - there's a little shop right by the entrance where you can borrow wide pants for men, and a skirt for women (even if you have long pants). Scarfs are there too :)) -Except for the fresco of Sait Giorgi (St. George), there isn't much of the original frescoes inside. Do not attempt to speak to the monks, most of them have a vow of silence.
Mária P — Google review
It was a great experience visiting here, but it’s a pity that the place is currently under renovation.
Gravy C — Google review
Visiting the historical Alaverdi Monastery was amazing. The territory is well taken care of. In the yard they have single vine plants of almost all Georgian grape varieties. We also booked a tour in a 11th century historical wine cellar in advance. Nana's presentation was very informative and interesting. Through the visit, we got to experience Georgian culture and its close ties to winemaking.

In its full glory it is definitely magnificient however right now its being renovated and a lot of areas are restricted to access so not worth going there right now

Ujarma fortress

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Ujarma fortress, one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia and the world, dates back to the 3rd century. It is situated near the Gombori Pass and was once home to King Vakhtang Gorgasali. The site features medieval ruins, tower remnants, and an ancient church atop a hill. Despite its historical significance, access to the fortress can be challenging due to a poorly maintained path from the parking area.
Fortress with first layers dating back to III-IV centuries. One of the best preserved of its time and size, with breathtaking views. A must-see!
Tamuna K — Google review
Beautiful fortress, easy to reach. Going up isn't hard but when you come down be careful, the path is a little slippery at times. The views are beautiful, the aura at the location is very pleasant. The tickets cost 10gel for adults and there is free WC not in the best condition. There is some path going further down to the river but have not checked it, maybe you will find something interesting there. I expected much less but the location is indeed beautiful.
Ekaterine ( — Google review
Visiting Ujarma Fortress was one of the most memorable moments of my trip to Georgia. The majestic fortress walls create an atmosphere of mystery and history. Climbing to the top, I enjoyed the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, a memory that will stay with me for a lifetime. I highly recommend visiting this place to all history and nature enthusiasts!
Evgeny S — Google review
I visited Ujarma Fortress during my trip through the Kakheti region, and it was a fascinating experience. This ancient fortress, built by King Aspagur of Iberia in the 3rd-4th centuries AD, holds a rich history. It was expanded and fortified by King Vakhtang I Gorgasali in the 5th century, serving as a royal residence and key defensive structure. The fortress is strategically perched on a hilltop, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The complex includes remnants of the royal palace, defensive walls, towers, and the Church of St. Nino. The preservation efforts have made the site accessible and informative, with information boards and guided tours available. Ujarma Fortress is easily accessible by road from Tbilisi and Telavi, making it a perfect day trip destination. If you're a history enthusiast or simply love exploring ancient sites with breathtaking views, Ujarma Fortress is a must-visit!
Shabeer H — Google review
If you are on your way to Gambori pass, this place is a must to stop by. There is a small ticket booth and tickets sell for 10 Gel for adults. Kids under 5 are free. There is an old church at this fortress as well as a few bridges and panaromic viewing areas. The whole feel of this place is medieval and that's what I like about this fortress.
Tayyab Q — Google review
Medieval ruins, remnants of towers and a whole church on top of the hill. Entrance costs 10 GEL per adult and 1 GEL per child. A path from the parking up to the Ujarma fortress is nearly nonexistent, turning dangerous after rain. Yet we enjoyed climbing up and down new sturdy stairs built towards the lower towers. Those are unfinished yet, I guess next spring there will be longer flights of stairs after getting financing. Free toilets are available at the parking level.

just a teeny tiny hill with a small church on it. worth it if u have more time left with you and have no where else to go. good for the beautiful sceneries students entry - 1 GEL

Great historical place, with ruins of fortress and old church. This is where King Vakhtang Gorgasali of 6th century died of his wound. There is spectacular view from the fortress. And there is nice restaurant with artisan beer few kilometers ahead.

Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi

Sights & Landmarks
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, also known as Sameba, is a significant religious complex in the heart of Tbilisi. This landmark Georgian Orthodox cathedral, along with its bell tower, monastery, and seminary, was designed by architect Archil Mindiashvili and constructed between 1995 and 2004. Situated on Mount Ilia overlooking the Kura River, it stands at an impressive height of nearly 105.
What a beautiful architecture!! Absolutely stunning!! It’s definitely a must visit. It’s grand and impressive, and the inside feels very peaceful and spiritual. The views from the cathedral are beautiful as well, especially if you go in the evening. It’s a place where you can just sit quietly and enjoy the beauty of this place. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the city.
Stuti S — Google review
If you’re seeking a calm and quiet retreat in Tbilisi, the Holy Trinity Cathedral is a sanctuary of peace and splendor. Perched atop Elia Hill, this architectural marvel overlooks the city and the Kura River, offering breathtaking views and a sense of spiritual serenity. As dusk settles, the cathedral glows in the soft amber light, creating a magical atmosphere. The quiet surroundings and gentle breeze make it the perfect time for reflection, photography, or simply soaking in the beauty. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful moment, Holy Trinity Cathedral is a must visit. It’s not just a church it’s a symbol of Georgian unity and spiritual revival 🤗
Sreejith — Google review
This is the main cathedral in the city, and it's impossible not to be impressed by its size. The architecture is beautiful and very imposing, dominating the Tbilisi skyline. As it is a relatively recent construction, it blends the traditional style of Georgian churches with a modern, grandiose scale. The exterior is definitely the high point. The surrounding gardens are very beautiful and well-maintained, perfect for a peaceful walk and for taking great photos of the facade. Inside, it is huge, but honestly, I didn't find it as beautiful as the outside. The decoration is simpler than one might expect for a cathedral of this size. It's very much worth visiting, especially for the external view and the gardens. Women must cover their heads to enter. Admission is free.
Luana B — Google review
The Holy Trinity Church in Tbilisi is absolutely beautiful. The entire area is surrounded by peaceful gardens, colorful flowers, and well-kept pathways. From the church grounds, you get stunning views overlooking the town, making it a perfect spot for reflection and photography. A truly breathtaking place to visit.
NATASHA D — Google review
The cathedral was quite impressive and the inside was very detailed and elegant. It was quite interesting to learn that it only began construction in 1995 and was finished in 2004. We thought it was a centuries old church that was kept in great shape. Overall, definitely worth a visit, great for photos and views of the rest of the city as it rests on a hill. Takes a little bit to walk up the hill to get to the cathedral though.
Redpanda — Google review
“Beautiful, from the inside and outside” ✨ We walked to this place. When you arrive there it is breathtaking. Especially the enormous size of this cathedral is worth mentioning. Good to know is that you want to go inside you have to cover your shoulders and knees (both men and women). At the entrance you can grab a choir robe if you didn’t bring anything yourself. — Genuine Gems Overview — ⭐ Rating: 5/5 💰 Price Paid: Free 💎 A Genuine Gem? Yes

Incredible, breathtaking, I could list positive adjectives all day long. It's the most beautiful church I have seen in my life! I'm at a loss for words. You must experience it for yourself! I'd recommend getting a taxi to get here as there's quite a climb to get here.

When in Tbilisi, don't miss the Mother of Georgia Tramway for an unforgettable experience. The cable car ride offers stunning panoramic views of the entire city and is a great way to capture some amazing photos. The smooth journey up to the Mother of Georgia statue and Narikala Fortress is definitely worth it, especially during sunset when you can enjoy both daylight and nighttime views. With clear skies adding to the beauty, this scenic delight is a must-visit in Tbilisi.
It seemed like a long lineup but it went quickly. If you tap your card or phone it's quicker than paying cash. Great views going up and from the top at $1.50 Canadian definitely worth doing. You can take the tram down, no lineup, or take the stairs down. Lots of interesting things to see on the walk down. Highly recommend 🇨🇦
Kari Q — Google review
Definitely worth it. don't need to buy your tickets in advance. Can just get in the queue and buy them ticket counter right before you get on the gondola. We weren't for sunset so it was a little bit crowded. We waited around 20 minutes but the line moved fast.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tbilisi Tramway Experience 🚠 The tramway ride was smooth, scenic, and totally worth it! It gives an amazing view of Tbilisi from above, especially during sunset — you can see the river, the old town, and the modern skyline all at once. The cabins are clean, safe, and the staff are helpful. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the city’s landscape without the long uphill walk. Definitely one of the best attractions in Tbilisi — highly recommended! 🇬🇪🙌

Cute cable car ride from the city center to the monumental statue of the Mother of Georgia. At the top there are lots of stands with souvenirs and a very talentad musician with an impressive international repertoire. A small cafe welcomes you with refreshments and BBQ. At the time of our visit there was no acces to the Botanical Garden or other atractions. Great views of the city from above.

A scenic and memorable way to explore Tbilisi! 🌄✨ The Mother of Georgia Tramway offers a unique and exciting experience, providing breathtaking panoramic views of Tbilisi, the Kura River, and the surrounding hills. It’s a convenient and fun way to reach the iconic Mother of Georgia statue (Kartlis Deda) while enjoying the city from above. The tramway is well-maintained, safe, and easy to use, with friendly staff assisting visitors. The ride gives you ample photo opportunities, capturing both the city’s historic architecture and the modern skyline. Reaching the Mother of Georgia statue via the tramway is much easier than climbing the hill, especially for tourists. At the top, the statue and viewpoint are impressive, offering a sense of Tbilisi’s history and culture, along with stunning cityscape views. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, the tramway provides a memorable and picturesque experience. For any tourist visiting Tbilisi, this tramway ride is a must-do — combining adventure, history, and some of the best views in the city! 🚡📸🌟

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Narikala is a picturesque ancient fortress in Tbilisi, with origins dating back to the 4th century. The name Narikala is believed to have Persian or Mongolian roots, signifying its historical significance. Originally built by Persians and later expanded by Arabs, the fortress suffered damage from an earthquake in 1827 but was restored in 1996.
One of the best views in Tbilisi! Narikala Fortress is old and beautiful. You can see the whole city from the top. The walk is a little hard, but the view is 100% worth it. A peaceful place with history and great spots for photos. No entrance fee, max you need to wait up to 10 min for cable cars 🚠, but also you can reach there by walking 🚶‍♀️

I took the cable car all the way up, enjoying the beautiful view along the way. From the top, you can see all of Tbilisi — it’s absolutely breathtaking. On the way back, I decided to walk instead of taking the cable car. The map showed a path through the forest, surrounded by trees, but I ended up taking the car route cuz I was afraid will be lost in the middle of the trees . It felt like walking along a highway with no pedestrian lane, and it took me hours to get back to the city! Still, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience — the scenery was amazing, and I’m glad I did it.

We had a wonderful city tour of Tbilisi! We began in Old Tbilisi, starting at Metekhi, which offers a beautiful view of Meidan Square. Then we walked across the stunning Bridge of Peace connecting the old town to Rike Park. The Clock Tower was a charming stop — it’s amazing to see the little angel come out every hour to ring the bell. From there, we strolled along Shardeni Street — a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Georgia. We then took the cable car up to Narikala Fortress and continued to the iconic statue of Mother of Georgia. After that, we explored Abanotubani and its famous sulfur baths. Finally, we drove to Mtatsminda Park, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the fun atmosphere. The view of the city from there, especially near the TV Tower, is simply breathtaking. A truly memorable day in Tbilisi!

1. 🏰 Old soul of Tbilisi - Narikala is one of the oldest landmarks in the city, watching over Tbilisi since the 4th century. You feel history in every stone. 2. 🌄 Best views in town - From the top, you get a full panorama of the city, the river, and the rooftops. Sunset here is unforgettable. 3. 🚶‍♂️ Short hike, big reward - You can walk up from the Old town . The path is steep but worth it. 4. 📸 Photo heaven - Every angle offers a great shot: fortress walls, city views, and the giant Mother of Georgia statue nearby. 5. 🧘‍♀️ Peaceful vibe - Even with tourists around, it feels calm. Great spot to sit, breathe, and take in the view. 6. 🕍 Church inside - There’s a small church inside the fortress with beautiful frescoes. Respectful dress recommended. 7. 🧗‍♀️ Watch your step - Some parts are uneven or slippery. Since the 4th century, every trade deal struck, prayer uttered and chai order hollered on the streets of Old Tiflis has had Narikala as its backdrop. One of the oldest surviving structures in the Georgian capital, the fortress has gone through many iterations (and name changes) over the years. In the Tbilisi of today – a city known for its distinctive and quirky architecture – Narikala is still one of the most enduring, evocative features of the skyline. Narikala Fortress in Tbilisi. Once Tbilisi’s first military defence, today Narikala is little more than a vantage point for panoramic city views. Aside from walking the fortress walls, other things to do on Narikala Hill include visiting the Mother of Georgia statue, Kartlis Deda (another Tbilisi icon), and hiking or walking in the National Botanical Garden of Georgia. This can all be done as part of the Narikala Tourist Trail, a marked 1.5km walking path along the top of the ridge. This quick guide to visiting Narikala runs through everything you need to plan a visit, including opening hours, costs, the best time to visit for photography, food options, and other activities nearby.

I visited this place a few years ago. It was cool to climb the fortress but a little dangerous. Now, due to reconstruction everything in close so you need to go around through the Botanical Garden and then go up.

Perched atop Sololaki Hill in Tbilisi, the Mother of Georgia, also known as Kartlis Deda, is an iconic 20-meter-tall aluminum statue erected in 1958 to commemorate Georgia's 1500th anniversary. The colossal figure depicts a woman donning traditional Georgian attire, holding a bowl of wine to welcome friends and a sword to warn enemies.
Arriving at Dada Cathedral via the scenic cable car is an unforgettable experience, offering panoramic views of Tbilisi. The cathedral itself is stunning, with its blend of traditional and modern architecture. Its peaceful atmosphere and stunning interior make it a perfect spot for reflection and admiration of the city from above.

This was such a great stop as a traveler in Tbilisi! The cable car ride was super affordable and gave us an amazing view of the entire city. Once at the top, you’re led to a charming street with authentic vibes—street singers, souvenir shops, and even treats like the delicious chimney cake and my favorite, the Limonti drink! From there, you can walk towards the Mother of Georgia statue. The statue is massive and faces the city, so the best photos are taken from a distance rather than directly below. For the adventurous, there’s even a full hike up with rewarding views along the way.
Nimra F — Google review
My fav viewpoint in Tbilisi, as well as the way to the top itself. The area is beautiful with its architecture charm. The views are truly amazing. Strongly recommend going up on foot.
Yuliya A — Google review
The ascent to this famous monument is an attraction in itself. The best way to go is by taking the cable car from Rike Park, which requires a paid ticket. The ride itself is already great, as it offers a beautiful view of the Peace Bridge and the river below. Upon reaching the top, what's truly impressive is the spectacular panoramic view of the entire city of Tbilisi. The Mother of Georgia statue is huge, but ironically, it's a bit hard to see the whole thing from up there, as you are right at its base. The ascent is more worthwhile for the city view. The best tip is: if you have the energy and comfortable shoes, walk back down. There is a staircase nearby that descends the hill. The path down offers the best views of the statue and, furthermore, it passes through charming streets with old houses, hidden small churches, and gardens. It's very worth it. Access to the statue's patio is free.

Standing tall on top of Sololaki Hill, overlooking the enchanting cityscape of Tbilisi, stands the imposing statue of Kartlis Deda, the Mother of Georgia. This 20-meter-tall aluminum figure, erected in 1958 to commemorate Tbilisi's 1,500th anniversary, has become a beloved symbol of the city, embodying its spirit of strength, hospitality, and resilience. Kartlis Deda is more than just an impressive work of art; she carries a powerful message in her outstretched arms. In one hand, she holds a sword, symbolizing Georgia's fierce determination to defend its independence and sovereignty. In the other hand, a bowl of wine represents the nation's renowned hospitality and warmth, welcoming visitors with open arms. Ascending to the base of the Mother of Georgia statue rewards visitors with a breathtaking panoramic view of Tbilisi. The vibrant city stretches out before you, a tapestry of ancient landmarks, modern architecture, and the winding Mtkvari River, all framed by the surrounding mountains. As you stand in the presence of Kartlis Deda, take a moment to reflect on the rich history and enduring spirit of the Georgian people. The Mother of Georgia stands tall as a reminder of the nation's unwavering strength and hospitality, watching over Tbilisi and its inhabitants with a loving gaze that transcends time

Beautiful place on the hills you can reach via a cable car. There are a few shops. cafés there and the famous Mother of Georgia statue. We met a lovely street musician who played Georgian, Turkish and Indian songs.

Your world elevated!! We had the opportunity to put our drone up and get some really amazing media. The Mother of Georgia is an iconic landmark in Tbilisi Georgia. With her standing approx 20 meters tall, overlooking Old and New Tbilisi, she stands righteous with her cup of peace and hospitality, and her sword, ready to defend her beautiful country, keeping a watchful eye on everyone. Definitely a MUST see for tourist and locals, if you have not been there already.

Very beautiful place ,you will find nice view on top ,you can use a cable car to visit easier. You can go by car also but if you can't find a parking you will have to walk for 10 minutes, try not to drink coffee over there it's expensive 🫰 depending on the prices in the city .

The Bridge of Peace is a modern pedestrian bridge in Tbilisi, Georgia, designed by Italian architects and French lighting designers. This steel and glass structure spans the Mtkvari River, connecting the city's old and new districts with its unique 150-meter-long design. The bridge features an interactive LED light display system with 30,000 lights and 240 sensors that create mesmerizing patterns symbolizing human chemistry and peace.
✨ Morning at the Bridge of Peace ✨ Walking across this stunning glass-and-steel landmark in Tbilisi was such a surreal experience. In the calm of the morning, with soft light filtering through its arched design, I could really feel the beauty of how it connects the Old Town with modern Rike Park. It’s not just a bridge — it’s where tradition and modernity shake hands, and I was right there in the middle of it, soaking it all in. 🌿🌉

A stunning modern landmark in the heart of Tbilisi! 🇬🇪🌟 The Bridge of Peace is an architectural marvel and a must-visit when exploring Tbilisi. Located across the Kura River, it beautifully connects the old town with the newer parts of the city, making it both a functional and scenic spot. The Bridge of Peace is one of those places that looks beautiful from every angle. I stopped by for a walk and took a few photos because the light, the view, and the structure all felt so calming. It’s a lovely spot to pause, enjoy the river, and take in the atmosphere of the city — and a few goofy little dogs were enjoying the view just as much.
Moon N — Google review
The Bridge of Peace in the center of Tbilisi is not without controversy. Some people dislike it because they feel that it disrupts the harmony of the more classical architecture around it. I found that it actually integrates quite well with the river and the old and newer sections of the city. The bridge was designed and built in Italy and assembled in Tbilisi with lighting provided by French designers. Like it or not, it's a very memorable structure that's hard to ignore. Tourists and visitors love to visit it for pictures and memories.

Peace Bridge, Tbilisi The Peace Bridge is one of the must-see spots in Tbilisi. It’s best to visit early in the morning when it’s quiet and not crowded — perfect for a peaceful walk and great photos with fewer people around. At night, the bridge becomes even more magical when it lights up. You can also take a boat ride under it for beautiful reflections and a different view of the illuminated structure. Both times of day show a unique side of the bridge and the city.

İt is not only a bridge, is a social and meting centre at the same time. You can see people who sing a song and watch the river and view. Amazing architectural structure, it is impress me.
Sancar — Google review
It's a beautiful bridge located above river Kura. It gets its charm because of the glass used in its construction which have lights fitted (LED ones, most probably). So it gets quite obvious that the best time to see this bridge and admire its true beauty is after sunset when the lights are on. You will find some other activities to do too nearby only.
Meenal D — Google review
A stunning landmark. The modern glass and steel design stands out beautifully against the old city. At night, the bridge lights up and creates a fantastic view—perfect for photos and a nice walk across the river.

History Museums
The Georgian National Museum, established in 1865, is home to some of the country's most significant historical and archaeological discoveries. The museum features two essential exhibitions that shed light on ancient and recent history. The Archeological Treasury showcases delicate gold jewelry dating back to the 3rd century BCE, reinforcing the myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece from the region known as Colchis.
“I really enjoyed this museum – it’s very comprehensive and well organized! It has three floors: one dedicated to the period when Georgia was part of the Soviet Union, another showcasing artworks, paintings, and styles of different eras and nations, and the first floor focusing on the earliest human skulls and the story of human origin and evolution. Personally, I’d love to visit this museum again, and I definitely recommend it to others.”
Shima R — Google review
The visit was a complete disappointment. For a national museum, it lacked the caliber and coherence expected. The overall theme was unclear—exhibits appeared to be a disjointed mix of topics, combined without a clear narrative or purpose. Much of the display felt like filler, poorly curated and lacking depth. Even the museum staff seemed disengaged, more focused on their cell phones than on assisting visitors.
Kye — Google review
The Georgian National Museum celebrates the history of Georgia mainly with exhibitions of the arts and crafts of the country. Do not miss the treasury in the basement. Divided into two different sections depending on historical periods, both are equally impressive. The older period has a fantastic collection of gold and silver coins and jewels, one of the best that I've seen anywhere. That collection alone is worth the visit to the museum. The second section, focused on the middle ages, has fascinating icons which are equally memorable.
Georges Y — Google review
While it’s great to see that the museum has explanations in English, I found it a bit plain for a national museum. No real theme, no cohesive overview of Georgia’s history and culture, more like multiple exhibitions that just happen to inhabit the same building. Staff are either unfriendly or completely disengaged. Expensive at 40 GEL.
Saikhnaa — Google review
The museum is a largely a tourist trap. They charge tourists 40 GEL per entrance but the insides are very disappointing. There is no theme, no explanations of history, just a small collection of jewellery and paintings without context. The Soviet Occupation part was a bit better, but overall you will not learn there anything new.
Damkota 1 — Google review
Must see for all visitors of Gergia. Illustrates such ancient history and culture of the country. I was mostly impressed with the archaeological treasure exhibition, depicting goldsmith findings dating several millennium BC. Price is very affordable. We visited during a weekday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all.
Nino F — Google review
As a local I didn't expect anything shocking from this museum, but when I stepped in and saw all the stuff there it was really nice and I was very much pleased with my visit to this museum. Every item had a description in Georgian as well as in English.
Qetevani C — Google review
40 GEL entrance fee (15 USD). Not updated on their official website. Honestly a bit pricey for what you will see. You will understand what I mean when you come visit the national museum of Beirut (11 USD for tourists). You should have kept it at 30 GEL, with all due respect.

Restaurant
Perched atop Mount Mtatsminda in Tbilisi, the renowned Funicular restaurant offers a stunning and elegant dining experience. With modern decor and a spacious terrace, it provides a perfect setting for enjoying Georgian and oriental cuisine, including vegetarian and meat dishes. The menu features famous dishes like steak, fried lamb, cheese pies, and oysters. This 4-star establishment is equipped with electronic payment options, disabled-friendly facilities, free parking, and internet access.
We had an amazing evening at Funicular! We came for a birthday and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, going above and beyond to make the evening special. They brought out a cake and card that I delivered prior and gave us a wonderful table, thank you to Anastasia for this! The menu has plenty of options but is focused and not overwhelming in anyway, they are specialised in the dishes they offer. Presentation is that of a Michelin star restaurant and ingredient quality is amazing. A restaurant like this in Western Europe would easily cost €500+, especially somewhere like Paris or London. The feel is very elegant and classy, yet very much affordable for most people in comparison to similar restaurants in Western Europe. Food, views, ambience and service were all spectacular - I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a special occasion if you want an evening to remember!
Kai J — Google review
Hard to rate but let me explain. For our last evening in the city we decided to experience this unique location and restaurant with high expectations. The view is indeed amazing and the interior looks stunning yet a bit old fashioned. All fine, good menu and selection of wines. But: Eggplant starter was not cooked till tender and rather raw and odd to eat/cut. Vegetarian platter surprised positively. Salmon steak was overcooked and pea mash rather unseasoned. Also the pork ribs were a shame. Way more bone than any meat and felt like they were cooked like 2-3 hours ago, set aside and waited until someone ordered. Good rips are in my opinion when you can easily pull the bone but here not even tissues were served if you were to eat by hands (not done). Potates got all the seasoning and were cold and way to seasoned. Also there was a big party in the last room next to main room but the music was so loud, that you could barely hear each other. Other guests with gala dresses and suits were also surprised negatively and for us this killed the whole vibe. We did not order dessert or further wine and really looked forward to leaving. Normally I am not that harsh in rating but for an upscale unique spot in the heart of Georgia with this view and prices on the higher end this was not acceptable. Next time better skip on restaurant and experience the fun park nearby or the view alone.
Oliver O — Google review
I booked a table at the restaurant in advance to celebrate birthday with a beautiful view of the city. I even mentioned birthday date in the reservation. Did I receive any compliment or at least a couple of nice words of congratulations? – No! Did I get the promised panoramic view? – No, we were seated at the other end of the hall, almost by the wall (they told us it was also a window – but that “view” was only of overturned chairs in the backyard). The prices are way too high. We ordered exactly the same bottle of wine in a very good restaurant in the city for 32 GEL, while here it cost 90. I’m willing to pay for service, view, and atmosphere – but sitting in the corner without a view and drinking wine priced 3x higher was a terrible experience.

The Funicular Restaurant is hands down one of the most iconic dining spots in all of Tbilisi — and for good reason. From the moment you step inside, you're hit with this perfect blend of elegance, history, and insane views. Whether you're here for a romantic dinner, a family meal, or just treating yourself (because why not?), this place makes every visit feel special. Let’s talk food: absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and packed with flavor — from classic Georgian dishes like khinkali and khachapuri to more refined mains and desserts. The service was just as good — attentive but not overbearing, with staff who know the menu and make great recommendations. But the real flex here? The view. The restaurant sits high on Mtatsminda, and the massive windows give you a front-row seat to the Tbilisi skyline. If you time it around sunset or stay until the city lights come on, it’s honestly breathtaking. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricier side for Tbilisi, but 100% worth it for the full experience. Great food, classy atmosphere, and the best view in town — 5 stars, no doubt.

This is truly a must-see place in Tbilisi. The view is breathtaking, and the food is beyond words—and let me tell you why. My friend, who is Georgian herself and knows all the secrets of authentic Georgian cuisine, said this spot captures it all. Every dish we tried was unforgettable. The cheese in the khachapuri was rich and flavorful—truly something special. We had lamb kebabs, cheese khachapuri, donuts, and coffee. I genuinely can’t pick a favorite because everything was just incredible. The atmosphere was serene, the air felt fresh and pure, and the service was something I haven’t experienced anywhere else. I believe there were about five of us at the table, and at least seven attentive waiters constantly checking in and making sure everything was perfect. This was an amazing experience from start to finish. If you want to taste the soul of Georgia and enjoy it with stunning views and top-tier service, this is the place to go.
Evguenia K — Google review
Contrary to my previous negative experience, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. The food and service were both delicious. I particularly loved the pork with cranberry sauce and the potatoes. The cheese table was also a highlight, with an array of delectable cheeses. But what truly set this place apart were the views and the decor. The marble everywhere and high ceilings created a luxurious and open atmosphere, reminiscent of the 1950s. It’s an amazing place, highly recommended for its stunning views and exceptional dining experience.

A short version for people who don’t want to read the full review: Nice view, decent for young kids, but many rides are underwhelming and one (the log flume) is a serious safety hazard - I got injured, and so did a child before me. Read the full review below for details. Recommended only for families with small children. Avoid the log flume. The full review - I strongly advise reading it before going: We started by going up in the cable car for 12₾ per person, which wasn’t bad. Then we saw the cool TV broadcast tower, which was very impressive. After that, we started going on the rides - prices varied but averaged around 9₾ per ride. The first one was bumper cars, which were exactly as expected. Then we got to the roller coaster, which wasn’t that good but still okay. After that, we went into the ghost castle, which was honestly the lamest ride I’ve ever been on, it would be okay with very little children tho, max age of 8. Then we tried the mega drop, which was actually pretty fun. After that, we went to eat, but the food was bad, so we decided to leave. Before we left, we did one last ride—the log flume—which turned out to be a safety hazard. I got hit in the legs, which hurt for days, and got a cut on my fingers that bled for a long time. Also, a kid had gotten injured in the head on that same ride just a few runs before us. In conclusion, I would recommend this park for families with young children and strongly advise against going on the log flume ride. I also suggest visiting in the late afternoon or evening when it’s less hot. Some things I didn’t mention: the park was fairly clean, and the staff were okay—some friendly, some not. The food was priced fairly but didn’t taste good. It was fairly easy to find the cable car. The park was pretty empty, but that’s probably because we went when it was hot. The park looked nice and was clean overall—just not the rides. My final rating is 2 stars, the points were removed mostly because of the safety hazard, but also because of the lame rides and the food

Shiomgvime Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in a narrow limestone canyon on the northern bank of the Kura River, about 30 km from Georgia's capital Tbilisi, lies the Shiomgvime Monastery. This medieval monastic complex is steeped in history and tradition, with its origins dating back to the 6th century when it was founded by the monk Shio.
Shiomgvime Monastery, nestled in a picturesque gorge near the town of Mtskheta, is a serene and spiritual retreat that offers visitors a glimpse into Georgia’s rich monastic tradition. Founded in the 6th century by St. Shio, one of the thirteen Assyrian Fathers who introduced monasticism to Georgia, this secluded complex is steeped in history and religious significance. The monastery’s setting is breathtaking, surrounded by rugged cliffs and lush greenery, creating an atmosphere of peace and introspection. The main church, built in the 12th century, showcases the simplicity and elegance of medieval Georgian architecture, with its unadorned stone walls and harmonious proportions. Inside, visitors can find ancient frescoes and a tranquil space for prayer and contemplation. A highlight of the site is the cave chapel where St. Shio is said to have lived and prayed, adding a layer of mysticism to the visit. The monastery complex also includes additional chapels, cells, and a bell tower, all of which blend seamlessly into the natural landscape. Shiomgvime Monastery is an ideal destination for those seeking spiritual solace, historical insight, or a quiet escape into nature. Its proximity to Tbilisi and Mtskheta makes it easily accessible, yet its secluded location ensures a profound sense of tranquility and connection to Georgia’s spiritual heritage.

If you want to go out of your daily repeating life style and find a peaceful and quiet place to visit and worship. This is the place I would recommend to you. There are no external things to distract you or crowd . This place is so quiet that even walking sound feel so much more loud. I love this place so much. I will come back one day for sure but I don't know when but I will.
BIMAL B — Google review
The Shio-Mgvime Monastery is an absolute must-visit when exploring the Mtskheta area. Tucked away at the end of a scenic gorge, it truly feels like a retreat from the modern world. The architecture is stunning—ancient and profoundly simple—and the main church, with its towering conical dome, is a beautiful example of medieval Georgian design. What sets this place apart is the palpable sense of peace and history. Walking the grounds, you can almost feel the presence of the original monks. Make sure to seek out the actual cave (Mgvime means "cave"!) where St. Shio is said to have lived and prayed—it adds a mystical layer to the whole experience. The monastery grounds are impeccably maintained, and the surrounding nature is breathtaking, especially the drive leading up to the complex. It's a sacred, quiet spot perfect for reflection. Tip: Dress respectfully as it is an active religious site. Since it's a bit secluded, arranging transportation (like a round-trip taxi from Mtskheta) is highly recommended. The entry is free, allowing everyone to enjoy this magnificent piece of Georgian heritage
Krishna K — Google review
Personally, I don't think it's something wow and omg and the most beautiful place on the earth. If you aren't religious fanatic, you might not find much to be impressed about. The church has some beautiful frescoes and they are indeed mesmerizing. At the same time, you look at the area around it and see all these luxurious houses, gardens and expensive cars, place flooded with restriction signs, no WC's, no chairs and everything that will make you leave the place asap. I hoped there would be path and possibility to climb close to the caves but every turn has restriction sign. The good side is that it's very close to Tbilisi (30mins) and there are parking spots and a good road. Overall, it's a nice location, there are nice picnic spots at the road but it's not the place that I would visit again.
Ekaterine ( — Google review

Incredible! Not a busy place. We were taken there by a taxi driver, Jvari + 20 GEL. It's worth it! The views along the way are amazing, the monastery complex is an island of peace and silence. Zhinvali Water Reservoir

Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Nestled in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia, Zhinvali Water Reservoir is a stunning sight to behold. The reservoir, with a surface area of 11.5 square kilometers and a maximum depth of 75 meters, provides drinking water to nearly half of Tbilisi's population. Surrounded by the majestic Caucasus Mountains, this reservoir offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors.
Beautiful place to stop over. Nice fort near by, the view is so sceneic

Beautiful but not worth the drive. Right on the noisy road ( maybe there's a better place to stop)

The Zhinvali Water Reservoir, just 40 km from Tbilisi on the Aragvi River, is not only the capital’s main water source but also a serene escape for recreation and breathtaking views. I was lucky to witness its beauty both in the calm of the morning and the golden hues of the evening—each moment offering a different scenic charm. A must-visit stop along the Georgian Military Road for anyone exploring Tbilisi. Morning calm or evening gold—Zhinvali paints magic twice a day. 🌅💙 A hidden gem you can’t miss on your Georgian journey. 🇬🇪✨

The Zhinvali Water Reservoir is a breathtaking destination nestled in the heart of Georgia's Caucasus Mountains. Located approximately 40 km north of Tbilisi along the Georgian Military Highway, this reservoir offers a serene and picturesque escape from the city. Constructed in the 1980s, the Zhinvali Dam spans the Aragvi River, creating a reservoir that not only serves as a vital water source for Tbilisi but also adds to the region's natural beauty. The reservoir's vibrant turquoise waters contrast beautifully with the surrounding lush green hills and towering mountains, creating a scene that feels both tranquil and awe-inspiring. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the shimmering lake from various vantage points along the highway. The area is perfect for photography, leisurely walks, or simply sitting and taking in the peaceful surroundings. Additionally, the nearby Ananuri Fortress adds a touch of history to the visit, making it a must-see for both nature enthusiasts and history buffs. Whether you're passing through on your way to Gudauri or seeking a quiet spot to relax, the Zhinvali Water Reservoir offers a memorable experience that showcases the natural beauty and historical richness of Georgia.

Beautiful stop for pics, however I stopped a bit before the actual spot due to directions based on Google Maps and decided to skip the spot which would’ve given you even better views!

I was just outside of this place because they work 10-18.00, so I didn’t have time to visit their museum yet. But they have beautiful territories with a park , so you could walk, also the photo zone is good for weddings. Nearby they have a restaurant “orangery”, so the whole day could be spent there. Next time I will come on 10am to visit their museum and to have time for a lunch in the restaurant. Also you could buy some wine there.

We had a private winery tour. The guide was polite, helpful, and ready to answer all our questions. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to taste food at the restaurant because there was a special event, and the restaurant was closed to visitors. The location is really nice; you can walk around, and I think you can have a picnic. Call ahead to book the winery tour and inquire about the restaurant’s hours. They also offer different master classes, but you should book them at least two weeks in advance

Hands down one of the best vineyards we’ve visited! The staff was super friendly and welcoming They gave us a full tour of the place and explained the whole winemaking process. We even got to walk through the vineyard, pluck grapes straight from the vines, and eat them! Tried three different wines, and honestly, all three were amazing. The location is beautiful and relaxing. You could easily spend half a day here just enjoying the view and the vibe. Highly recommended!

Absolutely in love with the place and story behind it. We arranged in advance excursion with guide, wine tasting and also book a table in restaurant, suggest to visit a place outside the city. Great option for tourists to combine with Mtskheta visit as it is on the way to Chateau.
Aija B — Google review
I have done so many wine tasting in the world and this is probably the worst one. It wasn’t a horrible experience but it’s also not a great one. The area is nice. The entrance feels like I am in Italy. However, there were no signs of “wine tasting” / “wine tour”. We just went to the office area and hoped to find someone. The “tour” started with the wine cellar and it was over, not even entering the chateau or have a short walk in the vineyard. Our guide just mentioned the traditional way of making wine, showed us some old tools, walk through the barrels and voila, job done. He kept asking us if we have questions, and we were like aren’t you supposed to share more things about this vineyard? A guide is supposed to talk more than the guests. While we were walking back to the restaurant for tasting, we walked on the red carpet. And we suspected he said this “joke” to everybody. He said “do you feel like you are Victoria Secret’s Angel?”. He asked multiple times! And my response was “Victoria’s Secret Angels get paid to walk, right now we are not getting paid”. He stopped asking this question. Onto the wine tasting which is supposed to be the highlight. But it’s not! Two reds two whites, honestly mediocre. I would not buy any of it. The portion is far too less. The guide tried to explain by saying yeah wine tasting portion is not much, because you are supposed to taste it. Some people would even spit it out. No, you can spit it out if you want but when you provide only a tiny bit of wine, I don’t even have a spare portion to spit them out. When we were having the last red, the lady pouring the wine was getting stingier. Honestly a shot of tequila would be more than the red wine portion. It’s ridiculous. The tasting experience I got in Spain, Germany, Portugal, Moldova etc were nothing like this. You basically get unlimited refills and unlimited water. That’s how you get your customers. Not by a portion that is less than a shot. Oh and our guide was trying to be funny again (!), and said oh you two will release more emotions after drinking, making these unhinged comments because he was saying we were too shy. A guide’s job is to explain us the vineyard and wine, not expecting their guests to be social butterflies. After I mentioned the portion is way too small, he didn’t even get me a refill, which he should have done for the bare minimum, instead he said I am demanding after drinking. First, I am demanding when I am not drinking, second, the portion is just unacceptable. That’s why he just earned the winery a two stars review.

Château Mukhrani is one of Georgia’s most prestigious wineries, blending centuries of history with modern winemaking excellence. Located just outside Tbilisi, the estate is set against a backdrop of rolling hills and a historic château, making every visit feel like a journey into the past. Founded in the 19th century by Prince Ivane Mukhranbatoni, the winery quickly became a symbol of sophistication and innovation in Georgian viticulture. Today, Château Mukhrani continues this legacy with a perfect balance of tradition and contemporary techniques. The vineyards are cultivated with native Georgian grapes such as Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, and Shavkapito, as well as international varieties, offering visitors a diverse tasting experience. Each wine reflects the unique terroir of the region, with rich aromas and layered flavors that highlight the best of Georgian winemaking. The guided tours provide a fascinating insight into the château’s history, the ancient qvevri method, and the modern cellar, making it educational as well as enjoyable. Whether you’re strolling through the picturesque gardens, exploring the château’s grand halls, or savoring a glass of deep, velvety red on the terrace.

What an unpleasant place. The wine might be fine but it swarms with unmotivated staff, the tour is done with no enthusiasm whatsoever, the restaurants are closed all the time for events but marked “open” on google. When you ask about it staff roll their eyes. Stray dogs on the grounds…well you get the idea.

The way to get there was horrible. The road was blocked and the by-pass was through dirt roads. We arrived only to find out there was an event. They should write on Google that visitation is by appointment only!!!!!!! Very misleading. The guard at the gate was rude an could have at least been more accommodating.

Ananuri Fortress Complex, located on the Georgian Military Highway by the Zhinvali reservoir, is a historic site with two churches and a watchtower enclosed within massive defensive walls. The complex has witnessed numerous battles and was built by Zurab Aragveli, a ruthless local prince. Despite its dark history, Ananuri rates as one of Georgia's top sites due to its stunning architecture and scenic river views.
Probably the best gem along the Georgian Military Highway. Its a stunning fortress which looks absolutely magical with the water reservoir in the background. I read that you need hours to explore, but we could saw everything in 20-30mins so its feasible for a quick stop. Also parking was 3 lari but entry is free
Fekete M — Google review
Beautiful and would recommend when you are near (but nothing super special or worth driving hours) because you see a castle from the outside and a simple church, it is beautiful with the sea and the mountains but all quite simple. Info: A small market is in front of it with good priced cashmere and wool scarfs and ponchos and a toilette for 1 GEL.

The Ananuri Fortress Complex is one of Georgia’s most spectacular historical sites, offering a perfect blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty. 🏰 Located along the Aragvi River, about 70 km from Tbilisi, the fortress was built in the 16th–17th centuries and served as a stronghold for the Dukes of Aragvi. The complex played a significant role in defending the region against invaders and was the center of political and military power in the area. The architecture of Ananuri is truly impressive. The complex includes two churches, defensive walls, towers, and a bell tower, each adorned with intricate stone carvings and crosses. The Church of the Assumption is particularly stunning, featuring beautiful frescoes and detailed bas-reliefs that showcase Georgia’s rich medieval art and craftsmanship. Walking through the complex, you can feel the grandeur and strategic importance of this historic site. Ananuri is not only historically significant but also surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The fortress sits beside the Zhinvali Water Reservoir, providing stunning reflections of the complex in the turquoise waters. Visitors often share stories of battles and legends associated with the Dukes of Aragvi, adding a fascinating layer of folklore to the experience. The combination of history, architecture, and nature makes it a truly immersive visit. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a photographer, or simply a traveler seeking to experience Georgia’s heritage, the Ananuri Fortress Complex is a must-visit. The well-preserved structures, beautiful carvings, and scenic surroundings make it a highlight of any trip along the Georgian Military Highway.

Beautiful and historic place with stunning views over the lake and mountains. The fortress is well preserved and really worth exploring. You can climb the towers for some amazing photos. There are a few small shops and stalls around, but parking can get a bit crowded. Overall, a lovely stop on the way to Gudauri and definitely worth visiting.

Ananuri Fortress is one of those places that instantly transports you back in time. ⛪🏰 It’s located along the Georgian Military Highway, surrounded by stunning mountain views and overlooking the beautiful Aragvi River — honestly, the view itself is worth the stop! The fortress is well-preserved, with stone towers, ancient walls, and a church that’s rich with carvings and history. You can climb up the towers (a bit steep, but fun!) for an incredible panoramic view. It’s a quick stop on the way to Kazbegi, and many tour guides include it in their itinerary — if yours doesn’t, insist on going. You won’t regret it! A perfect mix of history, architecture, and scenic beauty — definitely a 5/5 from me.

Great place to relax before going up in Gudauri. Lots of activities to do there. Sightseeing, you can try their boat ride, there are also some food trucks below. Good for family stopover. Great ground view of Aragvi waters. We tried some family picture there and there is a playground for the kiddos. Its a complete place and great for weekend for the family as well.
Raymond B — Google review
An amazing historical site with beautiful views of the Aragvi River and surrounding mountains. The fortress is well-preserved and offers a great glimpse into Georgia’s past. It’s free of charge to enter but theres a 3 lari charge for parking you have to pay when you leaving the lot.
KevUn — Google review
Beautiful historic stop on the Georgian Military Highway. The fortress overlooks the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir, offering stunning views and great photo spots. You can walk inside freely—explore the stone towers, churches, and walls that date back centuries. Outside, you’ll find small stalls with snacks and souvenirs. Best to visit in the morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds. Not a big site, but definitely worth the stop for history and scenery together.

A great experience with fly Gudauri. Awesome pilot and staffs made our experience much better. It was indeed a fearsome flight due to the high wind but the pilot made it much easy for me. We got the videos of the flight the next day itself and they made it possible without further delay. The location was also great. The cost per head was 300 Lari and it was all the same with all companies across Gudauri. This is a must visit place and paragliding make the trip more adventurous.

They also operate a 4 wheel moto rental wich is the biggest tourist trap waste of money you can do in Georgia. 200 GEL do spend 20 minutes going up a small hill and back, and not allowed to go faster than 3km/hr. Avoid that part.

Amazing. Mesmerising and activity filled. Little more rustic than European ski resorts, but excellent. Take care of your own safety

We stayed 4 nights in February, the resort was absolutely wonderful. Lots of snow, many lifts, cafe's, restaurants, everything was clean and working. The prices are incomparable with Alps or High Tatras, food was delicious. But the best part was the skiing and snowboarding. So much fresh snow I can only remember from my childhood. The slopes were well prepared and nicely marked, everyone was really nice and helpful. Most locals speak Russian or English and you can pay for everything with card or cash or even US dollars. There is also a wonderful spa with outside hot pool and ice rink. Highly recommended

Like: - not as crowded as many Western European ones - relaxed vibe - lots of adorable stray dogs Dislike: - get ready to get lost. There are barely any signs or ski lifts are not clearly labeled. It's hard to navigate but you'll eventually get the hang of it with some effort. - there's hardly any crowd control for some of the ski lifts which means chaos - expect some icy patches on the lower runs toward the end of the day

Went to Gudauri Ski Resort solo in Jan 2025 and honestly, it was amazing. Great slopes, epic views, and such a chill vibe. Totally worth it, even more fun than I expected going alone!

Gudauri Ski Resort offers stunning mountain views, well-groomed slopes, and a friendly atmosphere. Perfect for all skill levels, it’s ideal for both casual skiers and thrill-seekers. With cozy lodges and great après-ski options, it’s a fantastic winter getaway in the heart of Georgia’s Caucasus Mountains.
Ahmed — Google review
During my winter visit to the resort, I was captivated by the breathtaking scenery, even though I didn’t get the chance to stay there. Unfortunately, the rope cars (cable cars) were not operational during our visit, which was a slight disappointment. For those interested in activities like snowmobiling, I strongly recommend negotiating prices directly with the operators. Booking through guides can lead to significant markups due to commissions, so you may save a fair amount by handling it yourself. However, safety is paramount. Be cautious while participating in snow and ice activities, as the conditions can sometimes be unpredictable. It’s worth nothing that my experience was limited to visiting the resort rather than staying on the property, so I can’t comment on the accommodation or other on-site services.

During our ski trip to New Gudauri in February 2025, my friend and I decided to take a break and visit Tzar Bani—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our holiday! From the moment we stepped in, we felt welcomed into a clean, cozy, and beautifully maintained space. The traditional steaming with an oak broom was done professionally, offering an authentic and deeply relaxing experience. A special mention to our bath attendant, Denis, whose skill and gentle approach made all the difference. His sports massage was hands down the best I’ve ever had, leaving me feeling completely refreshed and tension-free. The experience wouldn’t have been complete without the delicious food and herbal tea, which added the perfect finishing touch. The next day, we hit the slopes feeling lighter, stronger, and skiing better than ever! If you're in Gudauri, don’t miss this place! Tzar Bani is perfection, and we will definitely be back.

Disappointing experience. We were a group of five ladies, and by the time it was my turn, the 'banshik' seemed tired, so I did not have a proper banya experience. My time was cut short, and there was no service while I was waiting inside. To top it off, at the end, I was surprised to be asked for payment in cash, which nobody communicated to me during the booking process. This caused a lot of inconvenience, and I had to transfer money to an account that was not associated with the company.

We really recommend to visit this place and take a “banja ceremony”. After a day of skiing, relaxing in Tsarbani is like to be born anew :) very relaxing and renewing. We enjoyed it a lot! Special thanks to our Banja guides/ the stuff, they made our stay extraordinary! It was a pleasure Absolutely a “Must do” in Gudauri

Excellent service was nicely greeted by 2 russian ladies, even if it was past 8 pm. Both hotel and room were spotless and well kept. Parking and towels are available. And the view, breathtaking!! I couldn't use the steam rooms. They needed to be switched on 3 hrs in advance, and it was late

My husband and I have been here twice with our friends and family. Potentially coming a third time for the spa. The Russian style bathing is a must if you haven’t tried it before. So relaxing and good for your health. Worth it with private rooms and the staff are very nice. The downside would be the uncomfortable seating/resting area in between sauna sessions and if you are over 6ft tall, you may be slouching a little.

Whether it's a trip to Gergeti Trinity Church and Gveleti waterfalls or a hike in Truso Valley, the guides like Nika and Keti provide knowledgeable and safe experiences tailored to individual needs. From organizing equipment remotely to guiding up to summiting Mt Kazbeg, the agency ensures a seamless and enjoyable adventure.
We booked Angel Mountain and Juta hikes with mountain freaks, and our guide was Keti. These were the hikes of our lives. Not only did Keti help the two of us with little hiking experience to finish the hikes, but she also shared beautiful stories and background information with us. Words cannot describe how much joy, fun and awe we had on these hikes. She also cares genuinely about the environment and local community, which we really respect. This shows true love of the mountains and the experience. We already cannot wait to come back to Kazbegi, and would recommend hiking with Mountain Freaks to everyone!

I had wonderful three days with Solomon, started with a warm-up to Angel mountain then 2 day trip to Meteo hut. He was experienced, fun and caring. Also, Keti who organised tours for me was extremely informative planning the trips, which is a key to have an enjoyable hiking. I was very lucky with the weather too - had plenty of time admiring the unspoiled nature and still finished all trips early(a bit too early to my expectation but ok, I live in Switzerland). I hope this region will stay as is - I love mountains and unfortunately, many beautiful places became no longer what they were before. Thank you!

Absolutely the best agency! I spent a few weeks in Kazbegi and the Mountain Freaks team made my stay here very memorable. I had the chance to go to Truso, Juta and Dariali with them, and also hike up to the glacier based on their advice. The team is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They can tell you everything about the area and all the hikes that you can do, either with them or on your own. The team also advise what trail would be the most suitable for you based on your physical condition and interests, they tell you what kind of terrain you should expect and how to prepare for the hike. Everybody in the team speaks perfect English so the communication is flawless. In the office they have a lot of different books about Georgia, mostly in English and Polish, which you could read in case you are bored :) They have some really nice souvenirs as well. When you take a shared transfer with them the bus takes up to 7 people so it’s very comfortable and you are not “stuck” with crowds throughout your hikes. However, the spots do sell out quickly, so I recommend to not wait too long with booking a trip. Booking 2-3 days in advance might be ideal, booking only 1 day in advance can be risky. Unfortunately, the only thing they do not guarantee is the weather, so make sure to be always prepared for any conditions. Thank you Team for making my stay here so pleasant! ☺️

We had an amazing time with mountain freaks. Keti was really helpful with the preparation, always available, and in a good mood! Our guide Guga not only showed us the mountains, but also a bit what its like to be Georgian, and gave us a taste of the adventurous life we really hope to get more of. Highly recommend!

I signed up for a bus transfer to Truso Valley with Mountain Freaks. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about local hikes and conditions, and their office is worth stopping into even to ask a few questions and buy a map or a postcard. As a solo traveler, I was looking for an option that would allow me to safely hike in a more remote area but without a guided tour. The transfer proved to be the perfect option. For each day hike destination, two departures a day are planned—9:15 and 11:15. I signed up only the day before the hike, but I anticipate that an earlier reservation would be needed in the busier summer months (July-August). The driver drops the group (3-7 people) off at the trailhead, and you are given a set amount of time to hike (do watch your time—for Truso Valley I was worried I’d run out of time, and I hike relatively quickly). The 2025 price for the rt transfer for 55 lari, paid up front and nonrefundable (so be sure to check the weather before signing up:)). Great experience and would use Mountain Freaks for another day hike.

Very friendly staff and a professional outfit. Good drivers. We took the short transfer to the village of Tsdo and the Dariali Gorge it far exceeded our expectations. Even if you don't think you are a tour person, go on this trip because t's absolutely stunning and unexpected. The shop also sells camping gas.

Gergeti Trinity Church, located in the historical Khevi province of Georgia, is a 14th-century cross-cupola church perched on top of Gergeti Mountain at an impressive height of 2,200 meters above sea level. This iconic monument offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, with the majestic Mt Kazbek as a backdrop.
“A cultural gem with an amazing view.”✨ This is definitely a must see when visiting Kazbegi. We hiked up the mountain, which is easily doable. However, you can also reach the location by car. The most stunning thing about the location is the view. You are high up the mountain and can see the entire valley on various sides. The church itself is also very pretty from the inside.

To visit this place is an experience to be cherished. The views of the mountains and the valley are phenomenal. We drove to the church. The road is sealed so even a sedan can drive on it, no need for a 4 wheel drive. You can also hike to the church. The chapel is small but peaceful. Please dress modestly. Women in pants can borrow a wrap around skirt kept in a basket as you enter the chapel. We visited in October where the hillside was rich with colour. Entry is free

We've been to Kazbegi and Stepenzminda twice but luckily could visit this Famous and Ancient Orthodox Churh this summer. The View is indeed stunning and you cant miss here. Able to light up few candles and its a really good experience. You can reach via vehicle or by local guides vehicles. ⛪️🏔⛰️

I visited the Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Kazbegi, Georgia in October 2025 during autumn with my family. We started our journey from Gudauri and covered a few local viewpoints along the way. The road trip was incredibly scenic—mountains painted in shades of lemon yellow, brown, red, and green from the autumn leaves. The higher peaks, which are usually snow-covered, looked almost bare with no trees or grass. The monastery sits at an altitude of around 2,500 meters, and the road leading up from Kazbegi is extremely steep and curvy—only experienced drivers should attempt it. After parking, you need to do a short trek to reach the monastery, and the winds at the top are very strong. Once you reach the summit, the view around feels like something straight out of a wallpaper or desktop background. One piece of advice: please wear proper ethnic or modest clothing to respect the local culture. After that, we visited the last monastery near the Georgia–Russia border, which is also beautiful and located right next to the highway. Finally, we returned to Gudauri and took a jeep up the mountains to see and touch the remaining patches of snow at the summit.

One of the most breathtaking views you can see in Georgia. The vibe and peace of this mountain church is truly unmatched. Entry and parking is free. However, its much further away from Kazbegi than the map shows, it was around 20 mins one-way

Gergeti Trinity Church is easily one of the most memorable places to visit in Georgia. Sitting high above Stepantsminda with Mount Kazbek rising dramatically behind it, the views are simply breathtaking. Whether you hike up the trail or take a 4x4 vehicle, the journey itself feels like part of the experience. The hike is steep in parts, but the scenery along the way makes it completely worth it. The church dates back to the 14th century and has a quiet, spiritual atmosphere. Even with visitors around, it still feels calm and authentic. The stone architecture paired with the wide-open mountain landscape creates a truly iconic sight—one that looks amazing in every season. Perfect for photography, relaxing, or just enjoying the fresh mountain air. Weather can change fast, so it’s good to bring something warm. Early mornings and late afternoons offer the best lighting, and if you're lucky, you’ll see the peak of Kazbek emerge from the clouds. A must-see landmark in Kazbegi and one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the entire country!

We had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Gergeti Trinity Church, nestled at an elevation of 2170m and just a ten-minute drive from Stepantsminda, the nearby town. Opting to drive up the mountain was definitely the right choice for us, given the steep and cold conditions. The views from the top were absolutely spectacular and made the drive completely worth it. We admired those who chose to hike up, kudos to them! It wasn't our cup of tea, but the breathtaking panorama made the trip unforgettable either way. Highly recommend visiting for anyone considering it; whether you hike or drive, the scenery won’t disappoint!
Sal S — Google review
This was an incredible experience from start to finish. We chose to hike the track up to the church, which I would strongly suggest. The walk itself is lovely and not too strenuous, taking us about two and a half hours. The scenery along the way is breathtaking. But the true magic is inside the monastery. The moment you enter, you feel a shift. The air is calm, and there's a profound, ancient feeling all around you. It's one of those special places that quiets your mind and settles your soul. The entire experience was simply awesome, and the feeling inside that monastery will stay with me for a long time.

I travelled here in the end of April and the place was full of snow and looked really stunning with beautifully mesmerizing views of the snow capped mountains all around. The bar and shisha place was more on the expensive side and other snow activities were shut due to reaching of almost the end of snow season. Paragliding was open but the locals told me it's not very safe as the people aren't very professional and reliable, so I avoided that. Besides it's a very beautiful and breathtaking taking spot. Also to mention the road closures were a bit of a problem as I had to wait for an hour just to cover 7kms.

When we went it was around 4 degrees and foggy and light wind. But because of fog could not see the mountains to the fullest. Best time is when less fog but hard to predict

It was a complete zoo when I visited but even so, the views are spectacular and so it is definitely worth a visit. The murals on the monument paint what to me was a rather romanticised version of Russian Georgian history but for a friendship memorial, i guess that's the point.
Phil M — Google review
The Friendship Monument, celebrating the camaraderie between Soviet Russia and Soviet Georgia, is set against the backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty. During the summer, visitors are treated to lush green mountains, while in winter, the landscape transforms into a stunning snowy wonderland.

Despite the ideology behind this memorial, the views are outstanding and incredibly worth the stop. 360 view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Local shops sell fresh fruits and snacks. Entry is free by the parking fee is cheap and "negotiable".

This place mesmerizes anyone with its panoramic view of the mountains. You will get a totally different scene in winter and summer seasons. In winter, the nearby mountains are covered with thick snow and its difficult to walk towards the monument. On the other hand, lush greenery during the summer season welcomes you. If you get the chance to visit the monument then do visit it in both summer and winter.

Gveleti Big Waterfall

Waterfalls
Gveleti Big Waterfall is a stunning natural attraction nestled in the picturesque Gveleti valley of Georgia. Surrounded by verdant forests and towering mountains, it offers an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts. The waterfall itself is a mesmerizing sight as water flows down rocky formations, creating a soothing ambiance. While the road to the waterfall may be challenging, the experience of witnessing this natural wonder makes it worth the effort.
Great hike, the last 50 meters of the ascent to the waterfall are a bit harder and steeper, but doable and worth it. If you have 4*4 you can drive up to the actual start of the trail just after the abandoned metal container, although the trail is nice. I recommend driving up about 10 min after you cross the metal pipe, there a right-bend and a lot of space to leave your car.

Such a scenic and refreshing trek to this beautiful waterfall! We went deep in, and the icy water combined with the high-speed wind made it an unforgettable experience. It’s an easy and accessible trail—definitely a must-do if you're in the area!
Kapil R — Google review
If you have 4*4 u can drive till red container no need to pay parking charges it will save your time if you don’t want to walk. The drive is a bit slow and steady with huge pothole but manageable. Waterfall is beautiful worth it try to reach before sun set as it get dark
Habib S — Google review
Everything there is to be written about the delights of the two waterfalls has been covered in these pages already. If you are planning on using Google Maps for directions, please note it'll announce your arrival at some random point on the road roughly 200-300 metres from the start of the trail, with no waterfall in sight. What you need to do is drive on until you pass signs for Gveleti, followed by a bridge (see photo) and take the immediate, sharp turn left- as for landmarks you'll see a Georgian flag on top of the hill and a rubbish bin on the side of the road (see photos). Parking is 5 GEL and toilets 1 GEL. Make sure you're wearing decent footwear as the trail to the big waterfall is narrow, steep and slippery in places. There is an unpaved track that extends much of the way to the top but don't attempt it even if you have an off roader- if you want to avoid the 5 GEL parking charge, there is plenty of free parking if you just drive 200-300 metres up the track.
Krishna M — Google review
Fantastic beauty. Totally worth a 30-40min hike (one way). If you have 4x4 - you can skip paid parking and go a little more up (saving ~10-15min of walking uphill), but even with our 4x4 we were afraid to go to a maximum point reachable by car - the road is horrible. The hike is not too hard, but also not a walk in a park.
Antanas B — Google review
An impressive high waterfall. If you are in Kazbegi, I recommend that you do not miss it. If you arrive with a 4x4 vehicle, you can drive to an old red container and save 15-20 minutes of walking. There you can park your car and start a route of about 20 more minutes to the big waterfall. Please note that the road is difficult and narrow and only a 4x4 vehicle can pass through it. With a regular car, you have to park at the beginning of the road in a paid parking lot.
Asael G — Google review
Totally worth hike about 40 minutes, the end of hike is very steeper . Beautiful waterfalls

At 16,581 feet above sea level, Mt Kazbek is an impressive extinct volcano offering hiking and climbing routes. Also known as Mount Kazbegi or Mkinvartsveri in Georgian, it's nicknamed The Bride due to its often fog-shrouded peak. Located on the border of Georgia's Kazbegi District, reaching the mountain takes a two to three-hour drive followed by a walk due to slippery ice.

Detailed Kazbek 2024 summit expedition trip report. Our expedition, organized by Elamus Pluss, consisted of 12 members: two guides, ten well-prepared climbers. Each participant had undergone extensive six-month training and/or had prior high-altitude experience. We carried all our gear, including food, tents, and equipment (backpacks15-25 kg, no horses used). Day 1 (July 4): Riga (11pm) -> Tbilisi (4:45am) flight. Day 2 (July 5): After landing, picked up by a 20-seater bus at 5:00 am, heading straight to Stepantsminda. Arrived by 9:00 am. The morning was spent preparing for the climb—buying gas, snacks, renting additional equipment. Checked into the Paramount Hotel at 1:00 pm. The hotel, which has its own Delica (6-seater bus), arranged transport to the Trinity Church for 60 lari. After some rest, we held a group meeting in the evening to discuss the expedition plan and distribute group equipment. Dinner at Cozy Corner, night ended with packing and early sleep. Day 3 (July 6): 8:00 am breakfast, we took Delicas to the Trinity Church and began our hike at 9:57 am. The trail to the 3000m camp took approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes, following a work-rest rhythm of 50 minutes of walking + 10 min of rest, with some additional breaks as needed. We arrived just in time to set up our tents before the rain started. The 3000m camp now has two huts: Altihut and the newer Alpine Hut Deka, which is closer to the tent area. Deka offers a cozy sitting area with a fireplace, and amenities like beer (15 lari) and overnight stays (150 lari). Tent campers can use the facilities if they make purchases at the bar. Evening spent packing for the next day and went to bed early. Day 4 (July 7): Woke up at 6:45 am and began our hike to the Bethlem camp (3653m) at 8:09 am, arriving at 1:30 pm after a 5-hour, 20-minute trek covering 4.8 km and 700 meters of altitude gain. That evening, we decided to reduce our stay at Meteo camp from four nights to three due to a favorable earlier weather window. Group’s health was strong. Day 5 (July 8): The day was dedicated to glacier and self-arrest training on the Meteo camp slope from 10:00 to 11:30 am. In the evening, check-in meeting at 7:00 pm to monitor group health, measure SpO2 levels, and assess altitude sickness symptoms. Also discussed summit day plan, ensuring everyone was well-prepared. Day 6 (July 9): Summit day began at midnight. We gathered at the Meteo well, and started the ascent at 1:08 am. Assistant was the pointman, maintaining a steady pace with a heart rate target of 140 bpm. One member turned back early due to the fast pace, as per our agreement to make a decision before reaching the glacier. Here’s a breakdown of our times and distances: • To White Cross: 35 minutes • To 3000 altitude meters: 1h 15min • To 4000m: 1h 25min • Glacier equipment on at 4250m: 2h 20min • To 4500m: 3h 55min, covering 5.6km • To 4650m: 5h, covering 6.2km • To 4800m: 6h 05min, covering 6.3km • To 4850m (peak plateau, Russian-Georgian border): 6h 30min SUMMIT at 8:40 am after a 7.5-hour climb, with 11/12 members making it to the top. The final section, though steep with a 40-degree incline, was manageable due to 20-30 cm of fresh snow, which made for easy steps. The conditions were safe, no need for extra ropes or belaying. We spent 20 minutes at the summit, enjoying clear skies before descending. Fog and clouds rolled in just as we started down, making the snow mushy. We returned to Meteo camp by 12:45 pm, completing the summit round trip in under 12 hours. Fatigue set in, with two members showing strong symptoms of altitude sickness, but all recovered after resting. Day 7 (July 10): We began our descent at 8:40 am in rainy conditions (muddy terrain) especially for those without walking poles. We crossed the glacier with just crampons. We arrived at the Trinity Church parking lot by 1:00 pm, where our bus was already waiting to take us back.

Mount Kazbegi is the third-highest peak in Georgia. With snow capped mountains, forest ranges and lakes make it the most beautiful part of Georgia. The Georgian Military Highway leading to Kazbegi from Tbilisi is itself is a drive which I will never forget. There are many places on the way where one can stop to enjoy the view and take pictures. But on the narrow road, there can be traffic jam, which we faced both ways. There are several accommodation options available if anyone wants to spend more time.

A wonderfully fascinating place. We paid a 100 ruble entry fee when we visited in June 2018. Getting here wasn't the easiest but possible without a private car! We took a marshrutka to Fiagdon from Vladikavkaz then walked/hitchhiked to Dargavs itself. We had been prepared to hike the whole way so any lift was a bonus. We spent about 45mins exploring the area but could easily have spent longer just sitting and absorbing the quiet peaceful atmosphere. We hitchhiked our way back to Vladikavkaz as well, would recommend not leaving too late if you plan on hitching a lift back! Worth reading up on the history of this place before visiting as here are no signs.

(Translated by Google) As part of a tour of mountainous Ossetia in September 2025, I visited the Alan Holy Dormition Monastery, located in the village of Khidikus in the Kurtatin Gorge. Interestingly, it is the highest monastery in Russia, at 1,278 meters above sea level. The monastery was founded in 2000 and built in the Byzantine architectural tradition. The monastery complex includes two ancient watchtowers belonging to the Gusov family, who owned this site in the Middle Ages. Today, the towers serve as the monastery's bell tower. The monastery belongs to the Alan Diocese, which is not part of the Russian Orthodox Church. Established in 2005, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece. The monastery is inaccessible to people with disabilities—the steps leading up are probably 50 cm high. Meanwhile, the monastery is beautiful, I recommend a visit to anyone seeking inspiration and harmony in the heart of the Caucasus!

(Translated by Google) The Alan Holy Dormition Monastery is one of the most important spiritual shrines not only in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania but also in the entire North Caucasus. Situated in a picturesque mountain gorge, the monastery is a symbol of the revival of Orthodoxy in Alania after decades of the atheistic Soviet period. The monastery's history is relatively young, but rich. It dates back to the late 20th century. Idea and Foundation: The initiative to establish the first male monastic monastery in modern-day North Ossetia belonged to Bishop (now Metropolitan) Gideon (Dokukin) of Stavropol and Vladikavkaz. The blessing for construction was received in 2000. Foundation Site: The monastery was founded on land adjacent to an ancient Christian monument—the Zru Sanctuary (Zru Temple), dating back to the 10th-12th centuries. This location was not chosen by chance: it symbolizes the deep historical roots of Christianity in Alania, which adopted Christianity in the 10th century, before Kievan Rus'. · Construction and Growth: Construction proceeded rapidly. The foundation of the monastery's main church, the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was laid in 2002. By 2005, the main work was completed, and the monastery began its full life. Essentially, the monastery was built from scratch in record time, made possible by the efforts of the brethren, benefactors, and the republic's authorities. Architectural Ensemble The monastery complex blends harmoniously into the rugged mountain landscape and is built in the traditions of ancient Alanian temple architecture, giving it a unique and recognizable appearance. · Cathedral of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary: The center of the monastery's spiritual life. This majestic white-stone church is crowned with not one, but five helmet-shaped domes, reminiscent of the Alans' military past. Inside, there is a carved wooden iconostasis, and the walls are decorated with frescoes depicting saints, including those especially revered in Ossetia. · Gate Church: Located above the main entrance to the monastery. · Bell Tower: A freestanding, tall bell tower completes the architectural ensemble. · Zrus Sanctuary: Although the 10th-century church itself is located a little further away, it is an integral part of the monastery. It is a place of pilgrimage and a reminder of the ancient Christian history of Alania.

(Translated by Google) The monastery is large, built in an ancient style, and is sometimes closed. We were unable to get inside. (Original) Монастырь большой, созданный в древнем стиле, бывает закрыт. Мы несмогли попасть во внутрь Монастыря.
