The Nazca Desert is home to numerous geoglyphs, which are ancient and mysterious in origin. These massive lines were ingeniously carved by the Nazca people several centuries ago, forming various shapes such as animals, birds, pagan gods, and even an astronaut that can only be seen from high above in an aircraft. The Candelabra Geoglyph on Isla Ballestas is another similar attraction with a height of 150 meters and width of 50 meters.
The most awesome, weirdest thing I have ever seen in my life. Why did they draw the lines? How it was discovered... Make sure that you absolutely follow the instructions of the staff when doing the fly over, otherwise you will puke and be sick, guaranteed. Enjoy ) ah, and there are some cute shops nearby for souvenirs. Funny "google translate" signs around ) the flights are heavily dependent on the winds/weather, you might end up waiting a lot
Stefan P — Google review
It's a 7-hour drive from Lima to Nazca and even longer by bus. Nice views from the airplane to see the lines below, but pictures will not come out on phone camera. In other words, you have to be there to appreciate as you won't be able to share the details with others through pix. In addition to the flight fare, there are also local taxes you must pay.
Zisis B — Google review
We took a flight with AeroNazca and was very impressed. We got picked up from our hostel and dropped back after the flight. We were advised to take an early flight as the weather is generally worst/windy in the afternoon and this was good advice as the wind did indeed pick up in the afternoon..
Robbie T — Google review
Loved seeing this! We did not take the plane to get a view of all of the lines, however we felt that the view from the observation tower gave a fantastic idea and impression of the sheet size of the lines. Perfect!
Claudia A — Google review
First, i am impressed with how the lines were made. Next, do watch the video at the airport while you wait (and you will have to wait). Third, be very prepared for a bumpy ride. I do not get air or seasick but this made me feel a little queasy. If you have a UV and polarised filter for your camera lenses, do consider using them. Once the sun is high and strong enough, the pictures do not come out well.
Ken T — Google review
Extraordinary views from above. The only downside was a very long waiting time and nk clear order of who is boarding the plane
Jolanta P — Google review
Nazca lines are something special. Visit it by plane and enjoy the view. Be aware, planes are small and bumpy but worth it.

We take airplane from Pisco to see the mysterious Nasca lines from the air. It is truly amazing. What an experience!

Museo Maria Reiche

This is a small museum but very memorable. You will understand the story behind all nazca and also some paracas cultures discoveries. Give it a try and go to the museum
Gabriela M — Google review
Nice place... We must respect her contribution for peru and for the history of the world about civilization.
Maria M — Google review
Inspiring. Well preserved museum, but I guess it’s need to be changed the way the museum it’s preserving the bedroom / office. It will rot in a few years if they don’t. Maintenance of Services need to be improved urgently. It’s disgusting and disrespectful that a place that honors the life and commitment of Dr. Reiche with Peruvian culture, isn’t clean at all. It’s not about budget, there are plenty of people visiting.
Marco A — Google review
Despite being smaller than I had hoped, the mummy exhibit was still an interesting experience. The price of only S/8 made it a worthwhile visit.
Eric S — Google review
The museum has potential but the surroundings looks bad, not taken care of ,dusty, empty. The inside has cool info and pictures and the whole building has an old nice vibe to it. The bathrooms are so and so. It is incredible to see the work of Maria Reiche. Incredible woman.
Andreea T — Google review
Very interesting museum of Maria Reiche and her home and workplace. Well worth a visit.
Gordon W — Google review
This Maria Reiche museum is great stop to learn a liitle more about the Nazca culture, totally recommended.
J A — Google review
Small place, but well-kept and interesting had lots of info about Maria Reiche and her studies and passion for learning about and protecting these lines. Some nice pottery displays showing Nasca art. Entry fee of s. 5 for adults, s. 2.5 for kids, about 3/4 indoors, 1/4 outdoors. Desert environment so if you want to spend time in the outdoor part come early or late and bring a hat.

Great little stop to see 3 of the Nazca lines. Not busy at all, went during the late afternoon with our tour group. Tower is built very well. Wonderful 360 view. Definitely worth the stop.
John D — Google review
It's an observation deck that looks out across some of the nascar lines. It's a very solid construction. There are toilets here and a few vendors.
Alain M — Google review
A perfect pit stop if you’re rolling through on the PeruHop bus—quick, free, and actually worth it. You climb up, snap some photos, marvel at the ancient lines etched into the desert, and you’re back on the road before your legs even start to ache. No overpriced tickets, no tourist gimmicks—just pure, unfiltered history. Easy peasy.
Rich P — Google review
In my opinion: it's more interesting to hear and read about the lines than visiting them in person. If you really want to have a look at them - book the flight, from the tower it is not spectacular at all.
Jérôme — Google review
Nice stop off on the way seeing some of the lines up close. I'm shocked they built a road over the one of the Nazca Lines and didn't realise its significance. No fee. Has facilities 🚻 Also a little tourist shop.
Magnetic P — Google review
Nice view, you can see 3 of the Nazca line figures
G. B — Google review
Nazca lines their selves are very interesting sight, but as for this lookout... Yes, there are 2 towers for view. But you won't see there much, unfortunately. To see Nazca lines you have to be MUCH higher, than these towers. Drone flights are prohibited there (had to land my one after security notice) and don't allow you to see all terraglifes if you don't know the exact place. That's why I believe the real way to enjoy Nazca lines is excursion with a plane only.
Denis K — Google review
I literally cried being, here it was a place I dreamt going to for many years, wanted to see this world heritage site. Totally recommended, there are tornados all around it's just spectacular.

Hotel

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Nazca, DM Hoteles Nasca offers a delightful retreat for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. Just steps away from attractions like the Nazca Planetarium and Plaza de Armas, this warm hotel features an inviting restaurant and bar, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Guests can take advantage of the outdoor pool or relax in the lush gardens that surround the property.
The hotel is closed for renovations, but the planetarium is open! Book your tickets at the planetarium 10 minutes before the show. The sky was cloudy and we had some rare rain, so we didn't get the chance to look through the telescope. The video was very informative and the guy spoke very good English. English show is at 7:30pm. French is 6:30pm and Spanish is 8:30pm.
Maddi P — Google review
This hotel accepts guests even though the hotel is still being refurbished. It is a building site. Shame on the owners for accepting guests where there are no facilities for washing or relaxing. The entry to the hotel has bird's droppings all over the steps. My room had no electricity or water. They gave me a bucket of cold water instead of any water from a tap for washing. The breakfast was very poor. I can buy better things to eat at the supermarket. I expect a refund for such shoddy and disgraceful abuse of guests. Tell the truth. Don't accept guests until the hotel is completely re-built. I should have slept in my car!
I C — Google review
Nice location, nice building, pool is good Room is not very big. No coffee or water cooker in room. No water bottle in room. When I asked for water at the reception, they told me I had to buy this at the bar. The shower was clean but there was a strange smell.
Bert M — Google review
A beautiful hotel with lovely rooms, a pool, lots of parking, and excellent staff. They have lots of info and a planetarium with nightly talks about the Nazca Lines in Spanish, English, and French. The breakfast buffet is good and we had dinner there one night too. A short walk to the local restaurants and plaza.
Sarah K — Google review
The hotel is a wonderful spot to relax in the Nasca desert. Beautiful pool, comfortable rooms, and informative museum-like spots throughout the grounds. The restaurant provides a descent breakfast, though a stop for lunch on the way back from our roadtrip proved that the restaurant is best for breakfast, and mostly convenient for other meals.
Leah M — Google review
I had to leave early from Peru due the job I was assigned to being canceled because of the political instabilities on the country at that time, and on my check-out day I had an agreement that they would reimburse me the days I had already paid for. They told me that this would take 1 month, which I found odd, but didn't think that a chain hotel would try to scam me. Today, 26/04/2023, they still haven't answered a single e-mail that I have sent, and of course, no reimbursement at all. On the checkout day, they even wanted me to pay separately for the hotel expenses (dinner, etc), even though they needed to reimburse me hundreds of dollars. So if you might need to leave early (you need to pay in advance, like most hotels), or just don't want to give your money to a dishonest place, I suggest you pick somewhere else. And to think that this was the place that gave Maria Reiche a place to live for free after all that she did for Peru. I wonder how she would feel about this...
Bruno T — Google review
Many thanks for these 2 days in this very charming hotel. Very nice place, the garden is beautiful, and the staff very kind. I am very gratefull for the strong support of the Administrative Manager, she was very helpful when I have to go to the hospital. I fully recommend this hotel well located in Nazca , well maintained and very clean. We all appreciate the warm welcome as wellington as the food. Thanks again
Florent F — Google review
Beautiful hotel in old colonial style. Very safe, but it you come back from the night in town in the middle of the night, prepare to wait in front of locked entrance. We waited over 15 min to get into the hotel.

The Museo Arqueológico Antonini in Nazca, Peru, showcases a significant portion of the discoveries made by the Proyecto Nazca Italian mission from 1982 to 2011. The museum complex spans an interior area of 750 square meters and is accompanied by a 1600-square-meter archaeological park featuring life-sized reconstructions of tombs.
It is quite informational if you want to understand the history. It was sponsored by foreign NGO which is quite amazing. You get to see some really cool artifacts…

Nice museum with a great collection of textiles and ceramics. Well organised and displayed. Worth a visit.
Gordon W — Google review
Fascinating museum with a good range of artefacts. A little tired and in need of maintenance and updating but still well worth a visit.
Tom M — Google review
Worth a visit if you have spare time in Nasca or if you're really interested in culture and history.
Yuanzhen L — Google review
Nice museum, it has 2 parts one in the inside and the other on the outside were you can see representations of the Nazca lines. 20 soles the entrance.
Miguel M — Google review
Uninterested staff. The entrance is uninviting (since the door is closed). No places to sit to read the extensive map with information in English. If you do sit on a stair (when there is literally no one in the museum), it's not allowed. That's ridiculous, how do you expect us to read the map with information? Some of the pieces in the museum are interesting, if you like artifacts. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Acueductos de Cantalloc

Ancient Ruins
Located about 4 kilometers from the center of Nazca, Acueductos de Cantalloc is an archaeological site that features a remarkable network of spiral stone aqueducts constructed by the ancient Nazca culture. These underground aqueducts, known as puquios, were designed to irrigate crops in the desert region. The channels were ingeniously roofed with stones and wood planks, and strategically placed access points allowed for cleaning and maintenance.
Amazing technology of the Nazca people on how they brought water to a desert. Worth going with a guide to truly appreciate how advanced the Nazca were. 2000 years ago this was built and is still being used today.
Sean R — Google review
Gotta hand it to the Nazca people—building something that still works 1,500 years later is no small feat. These ancient aqueducts are an engineering flex, and yeah, that’s pretty damn cool. But let’s be real: once you’ve seen one perfectly spiraled well in the desert, you’ve seen them all. The tour is quick, the history is fascinating, and if your itinerary has some breathing room, it’s worth a stop. Just don’t expect an Indiana Jones adventure—this one’s more of a casual nod to human ingenuity.
Rich P — Google review
Interesting site to admire technical skills of Inca. You can do a visit in 30 minutes. Taxi drive from city centre cots 10 Soles.
Jiří K — Google review
Fascinating and beautiful place. Incredible that it was made so long ago and still in use. The water was so fresh, and cool to be able to touch it - and the fish!
Sam S — Google review
Interesting place to visit, with impressive ancient aqueducts. The only downside is that there’s very little information on-site, so you don’t fully understand the history unless you look it up before. Still worth a quick stop!
Adrian H — Google review
It is quite amazing how the ancient people manage this . Most of acueductos are dry. But I like the idea they made. 10 soles for visiting (included other places)
Temsiri T — Google review
A fantastic piece of archaeology. Unfortunately not celebrated as a touristic destination, with no real notices describing the history etc. we hired a local guide, who was able to explain the structures
PALLAB R — Google review
Aside from the 17 spiralling holes and the 11km long aquaduct, you can also see a geoglyph in the shape of a puma’s head in the distance and prickly pear cacti with cochineals. As always, a good guide goes a long way.

Truly amazing!! The view from top of all the turquoise pools is incredible. A very beautiful place to go and not very far. Not to swim easily 'cause the water is really cold. There's a way to go walking from Huancaraylla and it takes and hour and half.

(Translated by Google) The Temple of the Sun and the Moon in Vilcashuamán is one of the most emblematic constructions of the Inca legacy in Ayacucho. This temple was an important ceremonial center, dedicated to the worship of the stars that guided the spiritual and agricultural life of the Incas. The most impressive thing is that the Inca structure served as the base for the colonial church built during the viceregal era, creating a unique contrast between both cultures. Its stone walls show the skill and precision of Inca architecture. It is a place full of history and spirituality that you cannot miss if you pass through Vilcashuamán. (Translated by Google) Beautiful ruins, a good place to connect with our Inca culture, it has the same construction form as Macchu Pichu, so it is a good option, before getting to know our wonder of the world. They told me that many families invaded this area, I am glad that they were able to relocate them, since it is a cultural heritage, as well as a source of income from tourism. I recommend bringing a jacket or coat, because it is terribly cold in the afternoon, and they do not have mobility after 6 p.m., return to the city before that time. This mirador really is a wonderful destination and is so close to Ayacucho's city center! We went early in the morning on a weekday and fortunately (in our minds) all of the tourist attractions (carnival/restaurant/event space) were closed and we basically had the place to ourselves. If you plan to walk, you definitely should prepare to go straight up various flights of stairs. There are roads along the way if you want to break up your ascent and go sideways for a bit. Also, you may want to bring something to protect you from the wind; when we went, there wasn't a cloud in the sky but it was definitely chilly. A few things that I liked were that it wasn't overly religious like a lot of other overlooks, and there were various different places to take pictures, very photo-friendly. I also appreciated that it was free!

(Translated by Google) The Ayacucho Cathedral (also known as the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mary) is the principal Baroque cathedral in the city of the same name. It is owned by the Catholic Church and was declared a National Historical and Cultural Heritage of Peru in 1972. [1] [2] Located in the Plaza de Armas, its construction began in 1632 and was completed in 1672. It is the largest cathedral in the country, as it is the main temple. The details of its construction are countless, and one particularly curious one is the presence of two small figures hidden at the top of the bell of the left tower, as if observing the city from above. Overall, the building has three naves, 18 columns supporting eight arches, 16 high vaults, 22 windows, and a beautiful triangular dome with an octagonal base. The architectural style of the façade is Seismicist Baroque. It is the only temple in the city that has three entrance doors on the front, where there are two statues representing the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul.

(Translated by Google) The imposing Cathedral of Ayacucho, also known as the Basilica Catedral de Santa María, is an outstanding example of colonial architecture and stands directly on the Plaza Mayor – a must-see for art and culture enthusiasts. It was built between 1632 and 1672 by royal decree of the Spanish King Felipe III and declared a national cultural heritage site in 1972. The facade is deliberately simple, but the interior reveals an overwhelming wealth of detail: ten retablos decorated with gold leaf, including the famous retablos of the Virgen de Socos, the Señor de Burgos, and the Niño Llorón. Sie wurde zwischen 1632 und 1672 nach königlichem Dekret des spanischen Königs Felipe III erbaut und 1972 zum nationalen Kulturerbe erklärt. The Museo de la Memoria, also known as the Museum of Memory, is a haunting museum in Ayacucho that commemorates the impact of Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) in Peru. The museum vividly portrays the city's deep-seated connection to the conflict through eyewitness accounts and poignant displays, including a montage of photos depicting mothers and children affected by the fighting.
Latin America has suffered greatly with all major civil conflicts. It is a great place to know more about the real history of MRTA, Sendero Luminoso and the Armed forces of the Peruvian Government back in the 80s and 90s. Horrible things happened to innocent people: women, children, adults were burned in brick ovens by the Armed forces. Sendero also is responsible for a lot of killings.
Ragnar L — Google review
As of June 2025, the cost of admission is 5 soles. I was expecting to be there about half an hour but I was actually there for 2 hours. I spent the first hour by myself looking at the exhibits. They have a QR code on the wall that you can use to listen to descriptions in English. They also have written translations on most exhibits. The person in charge gave us approximately 45 minutes of explanation by voice in Spanish. Try to read about what happened during this period in Peru's history and you will enjoy the museum more.
Maynard D — Google review

Small but very moving museum, dedicated to the human toll of the conflict between the Shining Path and state armed forces and the violence and brutality of each side. Most but not all of the information is translated in English so I recommend the audio guide (available for free via a QR code at the entrance) for more context on the origins of the conflict, and the photos/objects on display.

Some really interesting facts, it shows how badly both the Sendero Luminoso and the Peruvian army treated the population back then. It could be a bit more elucidating and a bit more well explained for someone who's new to the subject. I still liked it though.
Ana D — Google review
It was very interesting but i highly reccomend you read about the situation beforehand on the internet for context. Maybe it's because of my limited spanish but it was kind of confusing. It's mostly anecdotes and personal stories, but it doesn't explain how it happened, or how it resolved. Again, interesting, but hard to follow unless you're peruvian and learned about it growing up.

The museum offers a glimpse into this fascinating culture through its underground houses and numerous underground rooms, distinguishing it from other ruins.
