Saltos del Laja is a stunning set of waterfalls located between the Chilean cities of Los Angeles and Chillan, just off Route 5 South. The falls consist of four magnificent cascades, each ranging from 40 to 55 meters in height. Visitors can enjoy camping grounds, horseback riding trails, and local vendors offering souvenirs and traditional food along the way to the falls.
Lots of vendors with very cheap items! Beautiful scenery! It's free but the bathrooms cost :(

Its a beautiful place and for free so no need of buying any tickets. The only thing that put down the experience for me was a music seller. He had speakers on with music that in my option todo away the experience of the sound of the water and environment. I don’t see the problem with the seller on the way in to the waterfalls but right by them was not the best!
Erika M — Google review
Great waterfalls to view once you walk down an easy trail lined with vendors selling arts & crafts, snacks, and the like. The walkway used to take you much closer to the falls, but (as of October 2023) the last part of the structure is still damaged from last year's rains. Hopefully, it'll reopen soon.
Robert Z — Google review
loved it. gorgeous and lots of places to buy souvenirs

Impressive waterfall and nice little walk around it. Walkway on one side seems to be damaged so access was limited. Free to access!
Mati L — Google review
One of the few natural wonders that you still can visit for free! And the views are stunning. Make sure you're there 30 min before sundown.
Frederik B — Google review
Fairly touristy but still very nice waterfalls to go and check out on your way. If you come early, it will still be quiet
Laura — Google review
The falls themselves are lovely but the surroundings are run down and dirty and the toilets are a mess. The 3000 person entry fee seems high, especially for Chileans.

(Translated by Google) It's a beautiful spot located in Cobquecura. You have to be very careful, as the sea enters the interior. There's no need to risk it. If you can climb up, the view is magical, completely relaxing, and the sunset is beautiful. The surrounding beach isn't suitable for swimming; it's only suitable for strolling, contemplating its beauty, and enjoying the sound of the waves. You can also visit the nearby Piedra de los Lobos (Wolf's Stone). Its convenient location in the heart of Chillán provides easy access to various amenities such as banks, hotels, and service offices on all sides. St. Charles Borromeo Cathedral, Chillán

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
In total awe . Wow
John S — Google review
The Chillán Cathedral is one of the most striking architectural landmarks in southern Chile, both for its history and its symbolic design. Rebuilt after the devastating 1939 earthquake, its modernist structure represents two hands joined in prayer, a powerful tribute to the victims of the tragedy and a symbol of faith and resilience for the people of Chillán. Inside, the space feels peaceful and monumental. The high concrete arches create a sense of movement and elevation, while the natural light filters through stained glass in soft tones that highlight the simplicity of the interior. For visitors, the Cathedral is not only a religious site but also a cultural and historical destination. Located in the city center, it’s within walking distance of the main square, local cafés, and artisan markets. Whether you are interested in architecture, photography, or simply want to understand the spirit of the Ñuble Region, the Chillán Cathedral is an essential stop. Tip: Visit in the late afternoon when the sunlight enhances the curves of the concrete structure—perfect for photos.

Reserva Nacional Altos de Lircay

National reserve
Nature & Parks
Popular hiking & horseback-riding destination with a campground & dramatic mountaintop views.
Very nice state park with great hikes. We did the Enladrillado hike (took us 8 hours, but if your more trained than us 6 could be duable). The view was fantastic. There is also a great camping where most of the hikes start. Entrance to the camping by car is possible, but you really need a 4x4. Actually they only let you through if you have a 4x4.The road is verry rocky and bad. We paid 5000 for the park and 3000 per day for the camping. The camping itself is very nice with good facilities. At the time we stayed only the women showers had (sometimes) hot water. The sites itself are very nice with power and a light (although at most sites there was no bulb in it). Each site has also there own water tab. As we have a tent in our roof we needed a leveled spot. We only could find 2 or 3 good spots. If you only have a tent then no problem at all. Bigger campervans are out of the question (only the road allone is impossible). Your are only allowed to cook with gas! All in all a beautifull camping with nice hikes. Highly recommended!
Rob V — Google review
Great walk ! We went there after a day of rain and the mountain around was full of snow. The drive is a bit muddy but space to park at the gate. Walk 6hrs (return) to the camping. It was free entree for the long weekend so great but other case 5000clp for foreigner ?! Common Conaf that very expensive you are not making an effort to attract people, it's over priced.
Guillaume C — Google review
It is a wonderful place, great escape from the city even by public transport. Greatly recommended to all the nature lovers as well as to anyone who just needs to disconnect and take a step back from the buzz of civilization.
Jan J — Google review
Amazing place! Easy to access and the park is pretty big, you can do different trails depending on yours skills. I recommend go in summer or spring. In winter is very cold you have to be prepared!
Denis S — Google review
Worth every single minute of your time to complete the hike on this National Park. Apart of Torres Del Paine...This seems to be falling into my all time fav places in Chile and its not very far from Santiago too!!!
Balvinder S — Google review
This place made me cry from the views. It is a very well run park. The walk to the admin building is 2 km and uphill. It was easier for people with 4x4 vehicles. The staff was very friendly and helped us pick the best walk for our 4 year old toddlers. They loved it. The woods are diverse, the air fresh, and the mountains are energetic. I loved my experience here.
Marty B — Google review
We camped in the CONAF campground. Nice place to start birding from. The road from the entrance gate up to the campground is rough and rocky. Take your time. Showers are cold. Toilettes poorly designed. But staff very friendly. And the Nothofagus forest is magnificent. Good hikes begin at campground. So less of a walk than starting at the entrance gate down the hill. Bring toilette paper. And they insist you have cooking gas. No fires are allowed at campground even for cooking except on a gas stove. They found it hard to believe that our premade sandwiches would be enough.

Parque Nacional Radal Siete Tazas

National park
Nature & Parks
Parque Nacional Radal Siete Tazas is a stunning national park renowned for its breathtaking waterfalls, serene campgrounds, and picturesque hiking trails nestled within lush forests. While the beauty of the park is undeniable, visitors should be aware that purchasing tickets online in advance is essential due to limited on-site availability. It's also important to note that some trails may be closed due to recent floods and landslides, so checking current conditions beforehand can save you disappointment.
A nice small national park. Only two hiking trails are open right now and the I think the fee is too high for foreigners.
C N — Google review
In this time , mid March it’s very dry . You only see 3-4 cups, pools and water falls . The trail is easy but dusty . Good thing is now there are very few people. Go further up the road to Parque Englais for swimming in Rio Claro. 3 km further VERY cold but refreshing . Be sure to buy tix online and in advance for the Tazas , all else not needed
Aaron Z — Google review
Beautiful natural para near to Talca and Santiago. Many people comes for cycling and trecking or simply to enjoy the view.
Erneski C — Google review
Beautiful place! They are still getting use with the new system of buying tickets online so it took some extra time to get it. People working there were kind and even lend their phone to us. The place in itself is of easy access (the road could be much better - but when you make to the park is good).
Carolina V — Google review
The park is beautiful, the waterfalls spectacular. Signage and trail information could be improved, a paper map, for example. The bathrooms were lacking soap and other supplies.
John S — Google review
I find it quite hard to rate this place. It's quite beautiful as mentioned by the other reviews. But it's best to buy your tickets in advance online as it's quite hard to do it in place and you cannot buy them there. Also, do not trust the information that is given on the site about the park, it stated that all trails were open but sadly most of them were closed because of floods and landslides. Okay these are extreme circumstances but sadly we wished they told us in advance. If you pass somewhere in the neighbourhood some other tourists, ask them what is going on atm!! We were able to dip in the water (freezing) and see some nice views. Enjoyable in general!
Josefien T — Google review
The 7 tazas was the Most disappointing place. no great views, no possibility to swim eventhough it is promoted online. Not worth the entrance! The park itself is very nice, you have different options to hike.
Sophie M — Google review
All the information on the Internet about how to get to this park is incorrect! There are no buses from Molina. I bought a ticket for the park, went to Molina early in the morning from Curico and then the locals said there are no buses and I must pay for a taxi to get there. No! You waste my time, energy and money. For the rest of my travels in Chile I will only visit cities because I do not trust the information from locals, lonely planet or the Internet!

The hostel Termas del Cajon Grande is located in a beautiful setting, offering a scenic route to reach it. The pools are small but offer different temperatures for visitors to enjoy. However, other food choices may be more expensive.

(Translated by Google) The incredible place. A postcard! It is worth the 12km detour along gravel roads. The road is in very good condition, suitable for any type of vehicle. It has several natural pools, with thermal water at different temperatures. There are dormis, cabins and a camping area (it would be appreciated to limit the music until 10pm for those who choose to rest early!). It also has a restaurant and grocery store. A must stop to spend the day if you go through the Pehuenche International Pass. I would recommend staying the night at least to experience the sunrise and sunset on the mountain. (Translated by Google) From the highway, it's 12 kilometers to get there. The dirt road is generally in very good condition, with curves and slopes. Once there, the entrance fee is similar to that of any campsite. There are several natural hot spring pools with varying temperatures. The river runs alongside them. Beautiful views everywhere you look. There's a dining facility there. There are simple bathrooms that are generally very clean. You can camp here and also have the option of renting cabins or a hostel. It's usually very sunny in spring and summer; it's a good idea to bring a dining tent if you plan to stay at the campsite or similar, as the sun is quite noticeable. There are trails where you can ride bikes, and fishing is common. It's the perfect place for trekking and discovering new views. P.S.: Please, if you and your family and/or friends go to this location and need to relieve yourself in the wild (due to the distance from the campsite's restrooms), it's important that you take the papers in a small bag to the trash cans located on the campsite. PLEASE🙏 THIS PLACE IS WONDERFUL... LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!

The bathrooms were impeccable, as the day goes by there is dirt, it is inevitable in the middle of the mountain range! They have sleeping quarters and a place to camp. Access fee Feb 24, $2,500 per person for a day trip. The access route is 11 km of gravel road in decent condition, accessible by any vehicle, but there is a narrow stretch of ledge, not suitable for beginners. The campsite is basic; I didn't camp. It's quite rustic, and the bathrooms are a bit far away. There are some simple changing rooms next to the pools. The dining room offers a few simple dishes. Feb 24, $6,000 for a Mila plate with salad, and the same goes for a large pizza with salami. There is an area with chairs, tables, and umbrellas for exclusive use. The hot springs are small bathing areas, some quite hot and a couple more temperate. They've also built a hot spring pool at the end of the camping area. The area isn't finished, but the pool is still usable. The source of the water is about 100 meters from the campsite, where a natural pool has formed, with a muddy bottom and a lot of suspended matter. Be aware that to get there, you have to go through Customs and Immigration at Las Loicas. I thought it was a beautiful place, and we had a super relaxing day.

Valle Hermoso

Ravine
Nature & Parks
Valle Hermoso is a truly picturesque valley that offers various transportation options, including trucks and motorcycles. However, it is also accessible by car if driven slowly. The campsite provides accommodations in the form of domes or tents and offers amenities such as bathrooms. Additionally, meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available for purchase. It's worth considering fuel availability as the nearest gas stations can be found around 100km away in Sosneado or Malargue.

LAS LEÑAS

Amazing place to visit. but look for weather forecast before going
Nazmul N — Google review
Las Leñas is well known for their après time vibes, a few challenging runs and the best off piste terrain in Argentina. And, of course, being the only true ski in / ski out resort down here. And boy … do they know that and maker that. As mentioned it’s THE place if you enjoy off piste… the actual runs are average, not that challenging leaving aside Marte zone where you can’t get some fun advanced terrain. They have a respectable beginners area for Argentina standards and adding they hotel / bars / restaurant offer right at the base, a place to be enjoyed by skiers of all levels. It does gets terribly packed in the heavy season, not a lot of lifts makes that experience not that enjoyable so it would be wise to try to avoid July … but their snow in the last few years was scarce at best … so trip down when you have to!
Paulo P — Google review
2025 - there is a ton of snow and only one side of the mountain is open, about a quarter of the lifts / pistes are open, no explanation as to why, falsely advertised. A real shame as in the past have had a great time, reasonably small resort but beautiful, possible to stay v close to the lifts and fun apres-ski etc
Joseph T — Google review
Great tracks, and great snow most of the season. Off tracks are easy to find and also really fun. Views are excellent too. Problems are the snow by mid August, and the lifts are the slowest you'll ever encounter.
Lucas C — Google review
Perched in the amazing peaks of the Argentine Andes this is a small ski resort by European standards but the piste skiing is great as long as the Marte lift is open (maybe 50% of the time). The lifts are old and slow
Alex C — Google review
I have my own disagreement on how to rate this. As a “ski resort” I rate it below average (3 stars is average), comparing it to other major sky resorts of Argentina. As a “Mountain to sky” I can extend to to 4 points, with many good runs and nice snow. So let’s see why 2 stars: 1. poor poor poor poor infrastructure... been here 20 years ago, and it seems all the same. One day did spend an unreasonable time doing lines for the lifts (meaning that in all ski resorts you will do reasonable lines). 2. Ski rentals offer is poor, leading the companies to charge you whatever they want, since there is no competition. 3. Very small places to eat at the mountains , one better than the other, still not at the quality you expect for the money you pay 4. Not good airport communication, so you pay a lot of extra money if you do not have a package 5. Since is just that, a ski resort far away from cities, you have to just relax and be prepared to charge you expensive prices to eat or drink. I’m sorry is not as good as its marketing Makes it look like.

Enjoining autumn in Las Leñas. It's a peaceful place for relaxing before the ski season.
Charly P — Google review
This place lacks reviews in English so here goes mine. The place itself is just for skiing and snowboarding, the village does not offer anything else so I don't really recommend bringing children. The main advantage and difference between this resort and others in argentina is that the hotels are right in front of the lifts. The food here is quite expensive unless your money exchange rate is good enough which i doubt. The mountain itself is pretty good, nice open roads and good lifts, my only complain is the long wait while you're on the lift, for example, getting to the top of the mountain is basically an hour of lifts but the experience of going down is quite unique. Off Piste is a big part of this resort and advanced skiers can take advantage of this (the resort offers guides which is quite nice when you don't know the mountain). Overall, if you come to ski and only ski this is the place for you.

Hotel Termas del Sosneado

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Argentina, Hotel Termas del Sosneado offers a unique experience for adventurous travelers. The natural hot springs here are a delight, featuring pools with varying temperatures that provide a refreshing escape on warm days. Surrounded by stunning mountains and valleys, this destination is perfect for those who appreciate nature's beauty. However, reaching the hotel requires patience and a capable 4x4 vehicle due to challenging road conditions filled with rocky terrain.
Highly recommended! Need a 4x4, ideally. Very special place... I recommend driving even further... This whole valley has a very special energy that is hard to define.
Jean R — Google review
I'm writing this review in English as I'm not from Argentina. Most of the people that visit this place are from Argentina. The springs are great and the pools have different temps. Quite comfortable on a warm day to be there and have a swim. The valley is stunning as are the mountains. However if you don't have patience for a tough drive, this one is going to be tough if you do not have a great 4x4. Even with a 4x4, parts of the road are slow going due to the size of the rocks in the road. For comparison, we read and were told a lot about the difficult roads getting to other places like Valley Hermoso near Las Leñas. But after doing the road to Termas Del Sosneado, the Valley Hermoso was quite comfortable! It took us 2hrs to go from the route 40 in El Sosneado up the valley. The breakdown of the 60km journey that we did a week ago in a Ford Ranger (all unsealed or ripio as the locals call unsealed roads): - The first 20km we went about 50km per hour and thought we were going to do the whole road easy. The road is quite ok for a 4x4 or 2wd with good clearance - The 2nd 20km slows right down with the road becoming less maintained and we could go an average of about 30km/h - The last 20km is not great and slower again, and the final stretch the road was washed away recently I think and there were several makeshift tracks and was hard to choose the easiest. Pick your weather going there if the vehicle isn't up to it, it would not be a good idea to get caught up the road with heavy rain.
Jason K — Google review
The road to get is difficult but the landscape is very beautiful. It is very sad to reach the hot springs and the hotel and see that they are dirty, destroyed and full of garbage. People go camping or picnicking and leave their waste. A pity to see that such a beautiful place is not minimally well maintained.
Leticia G — Google review
Drive time is for Kamaz Dakar truck. Expect much longer. The springs are enjoyable, particularly with the surrounding views, however, not expect a sauna, they are warm, not hot. Definitely worth going if you can in something more capable than a small rental car.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW IN ADVANCE: 1. You need to book with a guide in advance. You can do this in the center of town in Malargüe. 2. Tours are only a few times a day. (We arrived at 12:00 and the next tour was not until 15:00). 3. Pants are required. They will not let you in without them. Overall, nice experience. Our guide was great. Our tour was in Spanish so I do not know if they also have guides who spoke English. Tour was about 2.5/3 hours. Minimum fitness required. (There was old and young children in our group and everyone was fine!)

(Translated by Google) I highly recommend this excursion. It's accompanied by a guide, whom you'll meet at the food stand near the start of the excursion. To get there, you can take a gravel road in your own vehicle. We were fortunate that the machine had just passed, so the road wasn't as pockmarked as we'd read in some reviews. There was also another road off the main road that was in better condition. Exploring the volcano's gullies was a beautiful experience. You can do it with children; we did it with a 6-year-old. The hike lasts approximately two hours or more, with brief stops while the guide tells you about the volcano. You reserve your tickets via WhatsApp, pick them up at the center's office, and pay the rest in cash when you arrive at the meeting point with the guide.

Planetarium

The guide at the Planetario Malargüe provided an excellent explanation, delivering intriguing and easily understandable information. The projection was captivating, and the installation where they showcased the film was beautiful. However, a drawback was that all seats were occupied without any social distancing measures in place. To address this issue, it would be beneficial to offer more time slots with fewer people in attendance.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful experience. We were not able to take the guided tour since we arrived late. One is at 3 p.m. and the other at 5 p.m. What you can access at other times is the 360 experience in the dome, which I recommend but (in our opinion) not for small children. They can understand the images but not the technical vocabulary. My children of 7 and 10 were bored. The place is extremely clean, well organized, the staff is very friendly. Admission for adults is $3000 and for children is $1000. I recommend purchasing in advance through the website. (Original) Hermosa experiencia. The landscape is breathtaking, surrounded by mountains and with the reservoir as its centerpiece. There's limited parking, especially on weekends, so it's best to arrive early. From the pier, you can cross by catamaran to the small beaches on the other side, where you can enjoy various activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, or simply relaxing in the sun. It's important to note that there are no restrooms on these beaches, so it's a good idea to bring water, food, and everything you need to spend the day comfortably. Exploring Villa las Tinajas Archaeological Park with guides is an intriguing experience. Visitors can expect to discover a different side of history while venturing into the caves. It should be noted that navigating through the three sections of these caverns requires some effort, as one must frequently stoop and get dirty. Nonetheless, this adds to the amusement and excitement of the journey.

(Translated by Google) We found this place by chance and it surprised us. The tour begins with an explanation of the flora of the place, which becomes a bit boring, but then the fun begins. When you reach the rocks in the mountains you can see cave paintings and then they put a helmet with a light on you to enter the caves. The route inside the caves is not long but it is a bit difficult, meaning it is not recommended for people with claustrophobia or mobility problems. On our visit there was a family with a 3-year-old girl who took the tour without any problem, but not all children like the dark so I recommend evaluating before attending. There are no bathrooms in the park. They charge entry at the place. They show you the native flora, invite you to smell each plant, and teach you what life was like for the Huarpes. BE CAREFUL about the cave! For some, it can be quite difficult. If you have limited mobility (or weak legs) or claustrophobia, I recommend not entering. If you dare, it's short but quite beautiful! Another thing to keep in mind is that there are no bathrooms. We took a restroom in some plants, hehe🤪 but just to be warned! I recommend bringing water bottles (they don't sell them there, and you'll need them). The tour itself is a walk until you have to climb a bit at one point. (Translated by Google) I didn't believe many of the reviews before going, and there's a noticeable price difference compared to other, perhaps less well-known, local wineries we visited earlier to compare. But yes, the price is for an expensive tasting. Especially considering the allotted time doesn't allow for leisure or relaxation. The wines we sampled weren't the best, while others, for half the price, offer top-notch wines. It wasn't a great experience, but perhaps it's worth mentioning that it could be better. The "I'll tell you about it, and then you can come back and take photos if you want" format isn't what you expect when you're out and about. Undoubtedly, their business is about quantity, not quality, thanks to their large infrastructure and exposure. It left me wanting more...

Bodega La Abeja is a historic winery established in 1883, offering guided tours and tastings. Visitors have praised the smaller, more private group tours that offer numerous complimentary wine tastings of about 5 or 6 different wines. The knowledgeable tour guides provide insights into the winemaking process, including grape harvesting and bottling. Guests appreciate the friendly and informative staff, with special mentions for guides like Sofi and Juan Pablo who enhance the experience with their expertise and humor.
We messaged on WhatsApp to schedule an appointment. The tour was enjoyable, and the wine tasting at the end was fantastic, with numerous samples. For $2000, it was an outstanding value, and we also received a full glass of house wine for only $200 while we waited for the tour to begin.

(Translated by Google) I loved the place; it has a lot of history. Located in the province of San Luis, from Route 7, heading toward Mendoza, turn south and there are about 5 km of paved road. There's a small tourist information office and a well-maintained parking lot. From there, you walk 100 meters to access the salt hills, incredible. It's a barren landscape, not a single weed grows, but it's impressive. From this place, salt is supplied to all of Argentina. They let you climb and walk around the salt hills. Just another part of our great country. It's a beautiful experience, I highly recommend it.

(Translated by Google) I really liked it. The people who served us were very friendly, but it's a shame they don't let you go to the lagoon, which is the most beautiful part. (Original) Me gusto mucho.

(Translated by Google) We went on the last day of the stay in San Luis, it is really very nice, if you are around there, you can't miss it, I recommend going with sunscreen, a hat and glasses, because being an open and white space the sun hits harder, you can climb several salt mountains, except for those who are working, there is a parking lot, where you can leave the car and then you have to do the tour on foot, the entrance is at will, I thought it was a beautiful place, I recommend without a doubt!
