Garden Nêgo

Sculpture museum
Shopping
The Jardim do Nego in Campo do Coelho, Nova Friburgo, is a unique attraction known for its colossal clay sculptures adorned with moss. The garden, crafted by artist Geraldo Simplicio (aka Nego), showcases his 30-year hermitage in the area. Inspired by the natural landscape, Nego utilizes moss to create an otherworldly yet grounded ambiance for each sculpture.
Gigantic clay sculptures covered in moss make Jardim do Nêgo in Campo do Coelho, a district of Nova Friburgo, a special place to visit. The unusual garden was created by artist Geraldo Simplício—a.k.a “Nêgo”—who lived as a hermit in the place for over 30 years. Nêgo uses the landscape’s natural formations as the inspiration and foundation for his work. He covers the clay with moss, giving each sculpture an otherworldy yet earthy vibe. The garden is a small, peaceful spot packed with larger-than-life works of art. There are currently 17 sculptures scattered throughout the place. Nêgo himself is typically present to greet visitors and chat about his work.

The Nova Friburgo Country Club is a picturesque location that offers more than just a golf course. It is an ideal spot for families to enjoy the beauty of nature and also serves as a venue for various events throughout the year. Although it would make an excellent setting for a golf course, it appears that Brazilians are not familiar with this sport. The club boasts stunning surroundings where visitors can appreciate the local wildlife such as ducks, geese, and fish.
I know there since beginning of 90's. And still an amazing and relaxing place. The nature and gardens are beautiful

Clemilda F — Google review
(Translated by Google) Visiting the TERRA SANTA theme park is an opportunity to encounter nature and also the sacred. Suitable for families and groups. Preferable on sunny or cloudy days because you can enjoy it better. There is no restaurant, which is a shame, but according to those responsible for the park, they are planning to reactivate the restaurant. It has a large covered area with tables and chairs for those who wish to bring their snack or lunch. For those who want to go to a restaurant, very close to the park, about 7 minutes by car or bus, I recommend the Vó Chica restaurant, tasty food and excellent prices including dessert, from Minas Gerais with a wood burning stove. Need to book for groups. It would also be interesting to invest in a cable car to the upper part of the park, which has a beautiful view, but access is very steep and unfeasible for those with limited mobility or heart problems. It is a journey through all of biblical Christian history represented by scenes reminiscent of the time, with scenery and stone statues. Artistic and faith work. We liked it a lot. It is advisable to take REPELLENT. As it is well wooded, it is also an invitation to rest. There is a little train included in the ticket that makes most of the journey easier for those who cannot walk for a long time. It passes every hour. It would also be very interesting to provide a guide so that the tour has the most optimized time.

(Translated by Google) The place is beautiful, it's a shame it's so left out, there's a lot of mud in the street, it slips like soap, the statues aren't as pretty anymore, it's very left out, it's a shame. Oh, and soooo many mosquitoes, even with repellent I was bitten a lot. The best place in the park, which is in the best condition, is the Jordan River where the baptisms are held, because otherwise it's not that good.

(Translated by Google) For a small market, the variety of goods is quite good. The service is also excellent. I found products that I couldn't find elsewhere, and they were all of excellent quality. I think the way employees are treated at the company is very important, because it will reflect on the establishment. I hope the market prospers, along with the employees, because then the customers will be the ones who benefit. (Translated by Google) Quiet and peaceful place. Good service. It was a weekday and things were very calm. Lifeguards and a good structure to welcome visitors. There is a fee for admission. The price is 15.00 per person. Children up to 10 years old are free. One suggestion is to charge an entrance fee per group. The cuisine is very good. We were surprised by the fish stew. The dishes have attractive prices. The negative fact is that only appetizers are being served. So by reducing the entrance fee, we will certainly increase the cost of these wonderful snacks. After all, swimming makes you hungry.👏👏👏👏 (Original) Lugar calmo tranquilo. Atendimento bom. A entrada é paga. Afinal, nadar abre o apetite.👏👏👏👏

However, this peaceful haven boasts 24-hour security and well-monitored streets for added safety. The community is vibrant with a full range of amenities and an engaging events calendar that enhances the living experience.

(Translated by Google) The condominium is well located and the staff are helpful, but the condominium is very run down, with muddy and potholed streets. This needs to be improved. Some houses with swimming pools are abandoned and there is a risk of dengue fever. The lake is unfortunately very dirty, with an unbearable smell, and the pools are small and dirty (maybe because it is low season and the rainy season, but things should get better in the summer). It still seems to be the best condominium in the area.

(Translated by Google) This very peaceful and quiet condominium has 24-hour surveillance for its vacationers and residents. Its streets are monitored by cameras scattered throughout the complex. The streets are wide and unpaved, which, in my opinion, makes walking more enjoyable and makes the condominium a cooler place. The streets are lined with fruit trees, and there are also areas with sports equipment, a multi-sport court, a swimming pool, a sauna, a trail, and a private lagoon where you can watch a beautiful sunset. The condominium is also close to local shops, the dry beach, and the lagoon. There are several houses for rent and even some for sale. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking to relax, have fun, and much more. Ocean front park where you can sit and watch sea turtles. Place is famous for sea turtles being seen all year round. Nice restaurants nearby. Perfect for a family day .

Tartaruga Beach, located in Armacao dos Buzios, is a vibrant and cozy sandy beach that offers a variety of activities for families. It is known for being a prime spot to witness the egg-laying season of turtles. The beach boasts clean waters, stunning sunsets, and free sun-beds for visitors to relax on. With its calm and warm waters, it's perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddling.
Beautiful calm beach. To access you need to walk on cobblestones downhill. I suggest going past the quiosques that are already set up to the open beach space to the far left from the entrance. Bring your own chairs and sun umbrellas and enjoy a much more pleasant experience away from the sellers. Also the food at the quiosques is generally prepared boxes that get heated slightly before served to you for 100 brl. Not worth the meal and seats in a crowded thin beach. I've seen people leave half the food uneaten in the quiosque box because it's not very good. You can also take a boat taxi to get here but be prepared to get wet disembarking.

Nice beach. Parking might be an issue, but there's some coffee shops for food and drinks. The sand was a bit dirty, the sea water has minimal waves, not cold. The view is amazing.
Andre M — Google review
Cute little beach. Vendors are fairly aggressive and there isn’t a ton a “beach real estate” (as opposed to Cabo Frio’s beaches). Nonetheless, very pleasant especially if you walk out to the left where they are fewer people. There is also a public bathroom on the way out which comes in very handy if you want to rinse your feet before getting into your Uber (there is parking as you come in. 10 BRL as of August 2024).

Another great beach in Buzios. On the day of my visit it wasn't busy or overcrowded. We've met a nice lady that offered us umbrellas and the service she gave was excellent. The fish we ordered from her was superb and caipirinha just hit the spot. Beach itself bit narrow but it didn't bother me much. Really relaxing day in the nice surroundings.
David M — Google review
Tartaruga Beach is beautiful however what is disappointing is the rubbish mainly plastic waste on the shoreline. As a tourist I ended up picking up and disposing of balls of fishing wire whilst locals looked on. Beach vendors that take up 1/2 the beach as their cash cow should be required to clean up all waste along the beach daily before business and visitors reminded to dispose of waste correctly.

Praia da Tartaruga is another coveted spot for sunbathing in the area.
Very nice beach. Parking might be an issue, but there's some coffee shops for food and drinks. The sand is clean and golden, the sea water is a bit wavy, but very small waves, makes it very fun and appealing, the water was warm. The view is amazing. To return

If you come to Búzios, this is one of the beaches you might want to visit. It is long, windy and has fine hot sand, where hurrying your feet feels nice. There is a serving shack, somewhat expensive but buying a couple beers will grant you access to the beach chairs and umbrellas.

If you are going to visit Buzios, this is the beach I recommend staying at, particularly if you rent a house (which is what we did). The surf can be a bit rough for very small kids, but some of the best waves for surfing/boogie boarding I have seen anywhere in the Atlantic Ocean. The beach itself is reasonably wide and not overly crowded. There are bars at one end for food.
John L — Google review
wide beach plenty of space that allows to play ball, racket, etc.. without bothering anyone... it has different areas with stronger waves with some light surf combined with other areas more quiet where kids can play safely... the free space also allows to avoid the umbrella rent, something very difficult in other beach here at buzios. prices are lower too and since it bigger it has a very good variety for food and snacks... the nad part of the story... in theory Brazil laws prohibit to be charged for umbrella but this is something not being checked, therefore people at the beach charges what they want, even for undefined services or for using the umbrella and not consuming a minimum amount
Tomas G — Google review
Really nice place. Good for people that enjoy playing in the waves, but in the safety of the shallow ocean at the same time. Also you can easily swim further than the waves breaking and enjoy a calmer area. It can be quite windy. Large sand strand, really good to practice sports. Beautiful sunset can be watched there. And it is kinda cute how the beach is "hidden" with the little alley entrances. The only problem I experienced was people burying (very badly, IF they do it) the poop of their dogs. Definately not a place to let your kid dig up the sand and build castles with it...

It's very crowded, parking is tricky (I'd recommend parking at the little lot at Summer Park 200ft away) with guys trying to get you to pay them for whatever (hard to tell if you don't speak Portuguese). It's really windy, even in the morning and in the cove, and the water is brownish and choppy and cold (they don't call it Cabo Frio for nothing). Did I mention it's crowded? Wall to wall people. We rented a double kayak and paddled around for an hour ($80 reals) then we were done. I'd stick to Amarcao or other nicer beaches.

The pictures didn't do justice on how vast the horizon is and how amazing the sunset was in this mirante. Bring insect repellant.

Scenic turnout overlooking the ocean with a nice view of a couple of small rugged islands and waves crashing against the rocky cliffs. A low rock wall and several rocks jutting out from the hill give some nice photo ops. Water ranges from turquoise to a deep purple-blue. I don't think you are supposed to park, but there is space for a few cars while you take a couple of photos. No beach access from here.

Oven's Beach, also known as Praia do Forno, is a stunning destination in Brazil surrounded by lush hills and dense forests, offering a peaceful escape. Visitors can enjoy a short but scenic hike to reach the crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming. The beach is dotted with vendors offering chairs and umbrellas, some of which are complimentary with food or drink purchases. Additionally, nearby attractions such as Pontal do Atalaia and the Blue Grotto provide further opportunities for exploration.
One of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. You have to take a short 10 minute hike to get to the beach, but even the hike is super beautiful. The view from the top of the hill is definitely a must see. At the beach, there are lots of vendors offering chairs and umbrellas. Some are for free, as long as you order food or drinks from the location, others are paid, but they offer you credit towards their food menu. The waters are crystal clear and great for swimming.

Wow!!! Beautiful soft white sand beach surrounded by hills of cactus and constantly served by locals for popsicles, fried fish etc.

Beautiful beach with a bit hard walk The water was very good and warm (August) but the access is a bit dangerous. Be ready for local people approaching you to charge you for your parking and offer all kind of adventures. Local police and guards to protect your way to the beach.

Paradise alert! Absolute love this beach. The only way to get there is by boat or trekking. I decided to walk. It took me less than 10 minutes to get to the beach. The views in the way are stunning. I couldn’t believe how beautiful this place was. I love it. Once I got to the beach I got one seat and had delicious food and drinks in front of the water. Amazing!!

Very nice beach, but can get very busy in high season. The boats bringing the people of nearby Cabo Frio to the beach can become a nuisance as they blare their music and it disturbs the peace and quiet. The water is crystal clear, and a sight to behold. There are some walking trails, but you are advised to go in a large group as it might not be save alone

Two absolutely beautiful white sand beaches with crystal clear blue water. You can walk between the two beaches if you don't mind getting a little wet.

The place is beautiful, and the sea is cold, it is worth the visit. But, take care. It is extremely expensive. R$15 a taxi to go up R$15 to go back, they block the street, Uber is not allowed. If you are going to eat at the beach, ask before, everything is insanely expensive. You are not going to pay less than R$150 for something to eat. Go early, around midday it gets crowded.
