I hope the market prospers, along with the employees, because then the customers will be the ones who benefit. (Translated by Google) Quiet and peaceful place. Good service. It was a weekday and things were very calm. Lifeguards and a good structure to welcome visitors. There is a fee for admission. The price is 15.00 per person. Children up to 10 years old are free. One suggestion is to charge an entrance fee per group. The cuisine is very good. We were surprised by the fish stew. The dishes have attractive prices. The negative fact is that only appetizers are being served. So by reducing the entrance fee, we will certainly increase the cost of these wonderful snacks. After all, swimming makes you hungry.👏👏👏👏 (Original) Lugar calmo tranquilo. Atendimento bom. A entrada é paga. Afinal, nadar abre o apetite.👏👏👏👏

The Nova Friburgo Country Club is a picturesque location that offers more than just a golf course. It is an ideal spot for families to enjoy the beauty of nature and also serves as a venue for various events throughout the year. Although it would make an excellent setting for a golf course, it appears that Brazilians are not familiar with this sport. The club boasts stunning surroundings where visitors can appreciate the local wildlife such as ducks, geese, and fish.

Pedra do Cão Sentado

Nature & Parks
Cultural landmark
If you're seeking an adventure that strikes the perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment, look no further than Pedra do Cão Sentado. This trail offers a delightful experience with its stunning rock formations and breathtaking vistas that will leave you in awe. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a scenic stroll, this trail promises to be worth every step of your journey!
Awesome trail. Not too easy nor absurdly challenging. Amazing rock formations and beautiful views. worth it!
D. A — Google review
It's an amazing park with a particularly nature. Huge stones, caves (some of them you access, others no) tropical nature. I consider a moderate walking, no light. Going up to achieve the top of mountain to see the seated dog rock (cão sentado), or going down, because of humidity on the stones, it becomes not safe. The maintanence of the place is not the best. A lot of places are unsafe, it's necessary to stay alert all the time, mainly when we go down back to the recreation area. Extremely care with kids and old people. All the times watch your step, and stop when you want to look around or to take pics. There is no river and waterfalls while walking, so take water on your backpack. The entrance is 15 reais. Take care with the wood stairs as well. Not safe. And some of their handrail are not fixed well. Now at summer season it is common thunderstorm at afternoon. So I recommend to go there in the morning. They open at 9am. It is written it takes around 30 minutes to go up. Well, I took over one hour , I am not athletic. Lol

Garden Nêgo

Sculpture museum
Shopping
The Jardim do Nego in Campo do Coelho, Nova Friburgo, is a unique attraction known for its colossal clay sculptures adorned with moss. The garden, crafted by artist Geraldo Simplicio (aka Nego), showcases his 30-year hermitage in the area. Inspired by the natural landscape, Nego utilizes moss to create an otherworldly yet grounded ambiance for each sculpture.
Gigantic clay sculptures covered in moss make Jardim do Nêgo in Campo do Coelho, a district of Nova Friburgo, a special place to visit. The unusual garden was created by artist Geraldo Simplício—a.k.a “Nêgo”—who lived as a hermit in the place for over 30 years. Nêgo uses the landscape’s natural formations as the inspiration and foundation for his work. He covers the clay with moss, giving each sculpture an otherworldy yet earthy vibe. The garden is a small, peaceful spot packed with larger-than-life works of art. There are currently 17 sculptures scattered throughout the place. Nêgo himself is typically present to greet visitors and chat about his work.

Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
REGUA is gorgeous. Capybaras and Caimans abound. The work they are doing with reforestation is crucial and it is lovely to see how they share that work with young people and visitors in smart, engaging ways.
Christine B — Google review
This is run as a non-profit nature reserve with the goal of reforesting the area that was taken away for agriculture. This organization has been doing this work for many decades! Please visit this place knowing that everything we spend here goes to support their efforts for conservation. The two day, two night trip to this amazing wildlife reserve was arranged by our travel agents based in UK with logistics arranged by a local operator and it was amazing. It is just the perfect place for people who love birding and/or who want to relax immersed in nature without giving up on modern conveniences - excellent room with all the facilities, air conditioning, wifi in the dining and lounge area, etc. We were so busy with birding that we never had time to soak in the swimming pool! The place is owned and run by Nicolas Locke and his wife, Raquel along with their son, Thomas. Very welcoming people and we enjoyed our lunch chat with them. The package included all the meals and there are many varieties of tea and coffee all the time. Not to mention the generous jug of Caipirinha cocktail every evening. Beer is available in the refrigerator at an additional nominal cost. Ans wine as well. The guide, Adilei, would pick us up at 6AM in the morning (or whatever time suits you) and we would either hike thru the reserve or he would drive us to nearby places and do birding in open areas or other forests. We would come back after a five hour long birding trip in the morning in time for lunch, a siesta in the afternoon and then another birding late afternoon or evening if you want to do night birding when we saw the Giant Snipe, Common Pauraque, Common Potoo and Tawny-browed Owl. We saw nearly 100 species of birds during our stay, of which 50 were lifers! It could be considered a few more, but I record/report only if I manage to get a good identifiable photograph of the bird.

What disappointed us was that we went just to visit and, when we arrived, we were approached in a somewhat unpleasant way and told that we would have to pay 10 reais (a so-called "symbolic amount" - which is anything but symbolic lol. (Translated by Google) Geneve Farm – Teresópolis, RJ I visited Geneve Farm, in the countryside of Teresópolis, as a family outing. The place is known as a tourist attraction in the region, but my experience left some important points to note. Positive points: • Pleasant scenery and some animals to interact with, such as sheep, goats, and a pony. • Area with a restaurant, cafe, and sales of local products such as goat cheese and similar items. The farm is a cheese producer, and you can see some of this production in one of the houses. Points for improvement: • Entrance fee: R$10 per person, including children over 3. For large families, the price is high, considering there aren't many attractions or animals to justify it. A different rate for children or a more symbolic fee would make the visit more affordable. • Expectations of the farm: Based on the name and advertising, one might imagine a larger space with more animals, but the visitable area is small and has only a few animals. • Cafeteria: There were no physical menus on the tables, only QR codes and Wi-Fi, which somewhat detracted from the charm of a trip to the countryside. Furthermore, the online menu had outdated prices (e.g., hot chocolate advertised for R$18 but charged R$22). When asked, the attendant showed no interest in correcting or explaining. • Service: On the day of our visit (Father's Day), the staff seemed disorganized, which affected the experience. Conclusion: The space has potential and is beautiful, but the value isn't the best for families. With price adjustments and improvements to the visitor experience, it could become a more attractive outing.

This place is really incredible. The name God's fingers is because it looks like the hands of come are getting out of the ground and pointing up the sky. It is amazing, surrounded by the Atlantic forest, with lots of waterfalls and wildlife. for the ones who like natural beauties, it is worthy every minute.

I hiked from Petropolis to Teresopolis and it was one of the most technically difficult hikes I've done. There is this one part called the "little horse" where the only way to continue is to take your backpack off, grab the rock, swing your leg over the rock, and use your momentum to hoist your body on and over this large rock. Did I mention that this all takes place on cliff where if you fall you die? Yep! It was worth it and so incredibly beautiful but the trail is no joke! Doable if you do it in 2-3 days (carrying your camping gear) but a lot of altitude! I have hiked 36km/day in the snow, and found this hike to be a challenge physically and mentally.

Imperial Museum is located in the grand 1845 palace of Brazil's first emperor and offers a glimpse into the country's history. The museum was once the summer residence of the Brazilian royal family during the 19th century and was founded by Emperor Dom Pedro II. Visitors can explore this historic site through guided tours, learning about its significance as well as the city of Petropolis, which was established by Dom Pedro II in 1843.
Looooooved it! I felt like the royal family still lived there! Pro: - flows really well - history and layout was perfect - clean and well maintained - free (when I went) - great gardens Con: - average gift shop - had to use slippers on your shoes and floor was super waxed (be careful you can clip) - can't take pictures inside

If you were a bad student as me, this is the opportunity to know the history of Brazil. We have just 63 years of kingdom here in Brazil but until our "freedom" or beginning of the democrat republicans there are very interesting issues inside the museum.

Beautiful palace. Mostly everything written in portuguese You can pay CASH ONLY! The slippers that they give you to put on your shoes are very dangerous and disgusting dirty. Could search for another option for visitors! No photos allowed.
Cristiana F — Google review
Great palace. Free entrance when we went. We had to wear covers for our shoes. Great collection.
Patrick F — Google review
You're required to wear slippers over your shoes to protect the floors, but unfortunately they are one size fits some and you'll likely be pseudo-skating around the museum. Also, you're required to check all belongings before entering, including cameras. Photography is not allowed inside, with or without flash. Other than these minor things, worth the trip! Definitely recommend, just be aware what you're in for.
Garrett P — Google review
Quite interesting to see how decadent the royal family was while their countries (Brazil and Portugal) suffered. The museum is free sometimes and cheap the rest of the time. It would get 5 stars if they allowed photos inside and dispensed with the awkward slippers they furnish you to preserve the hardwood floors.

I had an amazing experience at Restaurante Cervejaria Bohemia in Petrópolis. The setting is beautiful — inside the historic Bohemia brewery — and the ambiance is lively yet cozy. The food was outstanding! I had the Angus flat iron steak, perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. Everything is clearly designed to pair with their incredible craft beers, which are brewed right there on-site. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the view from the upstairs restaurant added a special touch. After lunch, I visited the brewery museum — which I highly recommend if you’re into beer culture or Brazilian history.

Brazil's oldest brewery was founded by German immigrants in the mountainous summer getaway of Petrópolis in 1853. It was once the preferred beer of the Portuguese royal family. While mass production shifted to São Paulo in 1998, Bohemia reopened its original location in 2012 as a specialty brewery museum, bar, and restaurant. The interactive guided tour explores the history of beer and specifically Bohemia, offering tastings and a visit to the barrel-aging beer cave.

Absolutely 5 stars. The venue is very well mainland the 44 real tour was amazing. They did a great job explaining beer making process and so many fun facts.

This was one of the best parts of my visit in Petropolis. The first half of the tour is a museum of the history and science of beer. The displays are in Portuguese, but almost all of them have English translations. The displays were beautiful and informative. The last half is a guided tour. Our guide spoke in Portuguese, which was difficult for me. However, most of the displays were straightforward enough and interesting enough that I wasn't bored and didn't feel left out. After the guided tour, we were given a flight of 3 different beers to taste (and children were given juice so they didn't feel left out). The gift shop had many great gifts for me to bring back home. The restaurant had great vegetarian options (and of course, beer), and the service was excellent. I highly recommend you do this tour!

Overall this place is a decent place to stay if you are not looking to spend a ton. There was 2 of us and our big dog. The Buffet was pretty good, lots of options. The Juice was terrible though, it seems it was watered down to a 90/10 water to juice ratio. Breakfast is till 10am weekdays and 10:30 on the weekends. The Room was mostly okay. Up to date AC unit and a ceiling fan, the shower was nice too, hot water on demand no electric shower. Some of the walls were peeling and the bathroom occasionally smelt of sewer water coming up through the drain. Everything was clean though in the room, no bugs or grime anywhere. There was a dog that barked in the room next to ours for almost 2 hours in the middle of the night. And same thing happened mid day. The staff didn’t do anything to solve it and it was extremely obvious it was happening because it’s a small hotel. The bed and pillows I would say were bellow average to average for comfort. There’s plenty of options for drinks and beer at the front of the hotel to purchase at any time. They also had things in the fridge that’s in the room along with some snacks that you have to pay for as well if you want them. If you have a dog it’s an additional $50 BRL that they don’t disclose when you book the room online.

The palace is beautiful, but the staff isn’t great at all. I came at 10h to have a guided tour at 10:30. This time, I was at the hall, but at 10:40 I was told that they decided to “skip the morning tour”, and the next one is only in one hour. It’s not the way the tourism should work. I came a long way to see the palace, but this people don’t care about your time nor the cultural heritage they represent. So come with your own guide, or avoid this place at all. Disappointing.

It’s a short stop before Imperial Palace that you must stop and visit on your Petropolis trip. As you can see the outside is something out of a village in Switzerland but the inside were all glammed up! Each room has its own personality and characteristic - for a purpose. The kitchen although empty just shows how big and thought through this place once was. There’s a hotel on the top floor which I think would be nice. Petropolis itself is a cozy and cute little town. Very different to buzzing Rio!

(Translated by Google) Such a beautiful place, we went to visit on a Sunday and it was already 4:30 pm, we almost didn't go thinking it was just a lake but we were very surprised, what a simply wonderful place, I think even the time helped even more because it was late afternoon and we were able to see the sunset, the trip on the lake was incredible, I really recommend it.

Beautiful park, in in a crowded city, full of nice statues and and some wildlife like birds and local monkeys. Has a big lake and also a river passing. You can either have a picnic or go thru a trail.

I loved this park. The security was very friendly and I felt very safe walking around. I just sat by the water and watched the birds and admired the pergola covered in flowers. These is also a walking path around the lake/pond. Definitely recommend for a quiet moment.

Ok mall but lacks shops, food hall has a variety of places to eat.
Greg T — Google review
It isn't big but has very interesting shops with something peculiar. It is good for a walk and good for travellers that are passing by Juiz de Fora as there are many good food options. From Mac something to good restaurants. The only negative point I noticed on my visit, is that the parking is not good for medium to big size cars. A big SUV like Mercedes G class, Chevrolet Silverado or Ford F250 are going to use two lots.
Sérgio M — Google review
Great area, many good stores. I missed more variety of stores, but you can find most of the big stores of the country

Fazenda do Paraízo

Farm
Sights & Landmarks
This is a very well preserved farm from 1845 that used to produce coffee. The first owner was Domingos Custódeo Guimarães or Viscount of Rio Preto (Black River Viscount). The actual owners belongs to the second family of owners of this farm. Mrs. Simone and her husband keep the place preserved as it was in the century the farm was built. Everything is kept original, the furniture, the paintings, decoration... Is like going in the past. I can say it is one of the best preserved farms from the time that coffee was considered an investment good as gold. To visit this farm, you have to schedule your visit by phone. The price is about US$10.00, it is not expensive due to the knowledge of the owners about the farm history and their sympathy. It is easy to find a place to park in the farm, don't worry about this.

(Translated by Google) Impressive. Jaw-dropping. The entire structure, masonry, decoration and furniture are original from the mid-19th century. A highlight is the original coffee processing machinery, driven by hydraulic force, assembled in 1868 and produced in 1868 in New York, USA. It cannot be compared to any farm in the Vale do Café region in Vassouras and surrounding areas: all the others have already undergone major renovations and are no longer original. (Original) Impressionante.

(Translated by Google) By car, approximately 8 minutes from downtown Rio das Flores. The place preserves the yard where coffee was spread out to dry and the machines that came from the United States to produce it. In February 2025, I took a guided tour (R$100.00 per person) inside the "big house" which, because it is inhabited by the current owners, cannot be photographed or filmed. The environment preserves details from the 19th century, and the furniture helps to recall a sad period in our history when human beings were kept as slaves to take care of the big house, the farm of barons who exploited black people. The main house is a true museum. You can take pictures of the outside. It is well worth the visit.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful, perfect for the Festas de la Glória. A landmark in the city. The building, which was opened for worship at the end of 2004, after a dense and relatively quick period of restoration never before undertaken in the city, holds within it a true artistic, historical, cultural, religious and, why not say, sentimental treasure of the Valencian people. Dozens of generations have passed through its doors, been bathed in the waters of baptism inside, received sacramental absolution and the spiritual nourishment of the Word and the Body and Blood of the Lord in its rooms and in the nave of the Church, were united in marriage in the presence of authorized ministers, received the anointing of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation or in priestly ordination, were “commended” to the Lord when funeral masses were still being held in churches before the construction of the Funeral Chapel in Valencia. Finally, they were born for divine grace, lived or were reborn for grace and returned to God with the centuries-old walls and sacred images of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Glory as their backdrop.
