(Translated by Google) The Alameda Rodoserv Center has been a stopping point for travelers in the area for many years. It is located on the Marechal Rondon highway and is easily accessible. Over the years, it has expanded its area of operation, and it seems that it is now also a space for events. The bathrooms are good, and there is a reasonable amount of coffee shop and restaurant, but what leaves something to be desired is the service, which seems to be completely indifferent to the customer (we ordered at Café com Sal)! Other than that, it is undoubtedly a good place.

(Translated by Google) The place is nice and attractive, but the security guards are very suspicious of customers. I experienced embarrassment. I was at the Intercity Hotel waiting to finalize the purchase of a trailer set, and I went to Alameda expecting a good experience. I was followed and harassed by the security guards, who treated me badly, with rudeness and suspicion, as if I were a bad person. (Translated by Google) A disappointment, we arrived at 12:15 (12/28/2018) and my children wanted to eat, we made three orders, sausage, steak, both with rice and beans. And a lasagna. It's exactly 12:48 and the orders haven't come out yet, I went to complain and they still laughed and said I was in line. Several people went ahead of me. It has improved (09/09/2023), but it is still below the Rodoserv chain in Castelo Branco, as well as the Graal chain.

Museu Oscar Niemeyer, also known as the "Eyes Museum," is a futuristic architectural marvel designed by renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho. Opened in 2002, it is the largest museum in Latin America and features 12 rooms showcasing contemporary art, design, and architecture. The building itself resembles a giant eye and is perched on a massive yellow pillar, creating an awe-inspiring sight for visitors.
Amazing museum dedicated to one of the most famous architects you will ever come across in Brazil. The museum is very well done and has sufficient reading material as well as displays. Some of the art is interactive and some of it is historical artifacts. There is a lot of modern art and some art from people from Curitiba. The parts of the museum that showcase Niemeyer’s accomplishments are particularly cool, especially if you’ve traveled around and seen some of his works.

In addition to handicrafts, the fair also offers a wide variety of foods, such as typical Paraná, organic products, and musical and theatrical performances. The story is captivating, and they tell the story of the siege of Lapa from the point of view of the local people. It is well worth it for those who enjoy cultural immersion. The theater itself is small, but very charming. And they say that the emperor himself visited the place.

One of the great landmarks in its history was the visit of Emperor Dom Pedro II, who watched a play there. His box, preserved to this day, is one of the highlights of the visit. The theater's well-preserved structure harks back to the past and is enchanting for its wealth of detail. The guided tour is very well explained, providing a true immersion into the culture and tradition of this unique space. Canion Fortaleza Cambara do Sul

Mentioned on

National park
Nature & Parks
Canion Fortaleza Cambara do Sul is a must-visit destination located in the Serra Geral National Park, just 23 km from the city center. It boasts impressive geological formations with cliffs reaching up to 1,240 meters, offering breathtaking panoramic views of deep valleys, rivers, and even the coastline on clear days. This natural wonder not only showcases stunning beauty but also provides numerous adventure activities for visitors.
Long walk, but worth it! Beautiful place and a must-do in Rio Grande do Sul. Remember to bring a jacket as it is an open place at the top and quite windy!

Incredible views and beautiful nature! There are great hikes and the canyons are worthwhile seeing from the top and the bottom. Rain can close the hikes through the streams. There is dirt road access to the park entrance at the top that is shorter, or a longer non dirt road route. After the entrance there is a little bit of dirt road to the parking. Once parked, the hikes are amazing!! Loved my time here!
André S — Google review
If you have the opportunity to see the canion, GO! I took a ton of pictures, and I don't think any of those shots does justice. I had my 20lb son strapped to my chest for this hike. I suggest being in good health if you plan to reach to the top. I may not try hiking that for another 10 years when my son can walk himself up that thing. At the top is a view like no other.

Super beautiful place, there is a trail to arrive there, but worth every step, once you get there you feel like in the top of the world
Paulo H — Google review
The nature around is just stunning. Best rating for this. We came during the week so it wasn't crowded. But there are other things not working, we cannot give 5 stars. It's serious... Some things you need to know before you come to Cânion Fortaleza, as well as Itaimbrezinho: - make sure you can handle rough roads as a driver. Some parts are still in progress, some are just crazy roads. - there is no official information in English on the website right now. Translate with translator and hope it did its job well. - if you start from Porto Alegre: I recommend to come here by car. There is literally no good option to come here with public transport. Maybe rent one, which can handle rough terrain... - as a foreigner it's not possible to get a license for a drone rn. You cannot register on ANAC without CPF. Just Brazilian citizens have one. A problem that needs to be solved (you can't book a bus online without a cpf as well... How to travel then?) Maybe national offices could at least communicate the local registrations for drones international? Less annoying work for everyone. - you want to do the left way at the waterfall? There is no sign where the trail continues, you have to walk at the guideline which normally marks borders, we asked later, after giving up finding a objectively good path. You're supposed crossing the river close to the edge of the waterfall (you maybe get wet, but bathing is forbidden, lol). That's not a trail, that's adventure without good information, man. You cannot make good decisions for yourself with this. Big saftey issue. Please, take it serious! That's not okay! The company which is responsible for the park at the moment needs to work on several things. - providing more information in general PROACTIVE - if maintaining some trails due to weather conditions etc. isn't possible, you MUST provide these information to all visitors when arriving. With well placed signs etc. Depends on you, but it MUST work. The barely placed wooden planks you put on muddy and wet spots on the trail once are not enough to pass the mud. Visitors are paying a lot of money for the entrance to park infrastructure. So do your work. We were there during the week, I've seen at least 10 people standing idle for a long time, just staring at their mobile phones, not making any attempt to help. We unfortunately don't speak Portuguese, but as a national park maintaining company, working with tourists, you have to give information in English as well. It's international standard, welcome to the 21th century. Without our Portuguese speaking friend translating for us, this trip would have ended in a disaster. PLEASE train your employees. - don't blame the people if they are criticizing valid points. Be professional like estimated and give valid arguments, not your own opinion. Opinion is for private life, not for work. Thanks for reading this review and noticing.

Be aware of the entrance charge, which can be pricey if you are planning to pay for the whole family. I won't post the fee here because prices go up pretty often in Brazil. The views are stunning as long as it's not cloudy or rainy. Check the weather forecast before booking any tours!

(Translated by Google) The UFSM Planetarium is an incredible space for scientific outreach and leisure. Sessions feature engaging astronomy presentations, films for all ages, and excellent sound and image quality. The environment is well-maintained, and offering free open sessions by appointment demonstrates the concern for community access. The service is attentive and organized: 15 minutes in advance is enough to guarantee a spot for the open sessions. Area for improvement: unfortunately, in-person sessions are held exclusively during business hours—between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday—which makes access difficult for those with daytime jobs. It would be excellent if there were evening or weekend options to accommodate those with these commitments. Overall, the UFSM Planetarium is a gem for Santa Maria: educational, well-structured, with excellent programming, and free to the general public. Adjusting the hours could make it even more accessible and integrated into the community.

Nestled near an old train station, the Associação dos Moradores da Vila Belga is a charming destination that showcases colorful, historic houses and cobblestone streets. This picturesque neighborhood reflects its rich history as the first housing complex in Rio Grande do Sul, originally home to railway workers in the early 20th century. Praça Internacional

Park
Sights & Landmarks
Praça Internacional is a captivating green space that beautifully symbolizes the friendship between Uruguay and Brazil. Nestled right on the border, this park features flags from both nations and an impressive obelisk, creating a picturesque setting for visitors. Here, there’s no strict division; instead, people meander freely across the open area, enjoying a delightful blend of cultures where Spanish and Portuguese intertwine seamlessly.
This gets 5 stars, not because the Praça is 5 stars but there is an AMAZING food vendor on the Uruguay side. Please see the pictures of the orange vendor stall, Named "something Park". She makes the best Xis and Cochorro Quente. My pictures are attached

Plaza Internacional in Rivera, Uruguay, is truly a “border of peace”, where Uruguay and Brazil blend seamlessly. There’s no real border—just an open space where people from both countries walk freely, creating a unique and harmonious atmosphere. It’s a must-visit place, offering a fascinating mix of Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures. The fusion of Uruguayan and Brazilian traditions, music, and food makes this spot even more special. Whether you’re here to relax, take pictures, or experience the unity of two nations in one place, Plaza Internacional is a beautiful and symbolic landmark that represents friendship and cultural richness.

Melancía Rivera Mall & Free Shops

Permanently Closed
Shopping mall
Shopping
Even though it's not finished yet, it is a nice place to go. It is never really crowded and there are different options of duty free shops and restaurants.

Several food options. No vegan options, however. Nice indoor playground for kids and some games for adults too. Live music several days a week. Some dance shows too. There's a lovely place for a family picnic barely 200 meters from the mall. It's public and quiet with some wooden decks. Also great to fly kites

Lots of variety of product that are generally hard to come by in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Prices in general are not as competitive as those in Ciudad de la Este, electronics in some cases are double the price. Some of the beers are reasonably priced, 1 bottle of Estrella for 1.50 dollars, 1 bottle of Voll Damn was going for 1.25 dollars. The wines are not as cheap as I had been told; go into into any half descent supermarket in Argentina or Uruguay and you'll find good wines at a lower price. If you're a public employee or doctor looking for a place to spent your easily earned money then by all means try this place. If you are a serious shopper in search for a bargain you should head over to Ciudad del Este in Paraguay if its not to out of the way.

(Translated by Google) This park is worth a visit, learning about its history and walking the paths that lead to the Puma Fountain. There's also a lovely country restaurant, very enjoyable on sunny days and with affordable prices.

(Translated by Google) An incredible place. Important: Keep in mind that the road isn't 100% paved, and if you get dizzy, you could have a bad time (it's best to bring Biodramine). The place is very beautiful, and you can see lizards everywhere.

(Translated by Google) A very nice place, very well maintained, and the people are friendly. The trails are easy to hike. The entrance fee is very reasonable for the park. The facilities are well maintained. Regarding the restaurant, I can't speak highly of the food, as it was packed when we went, and we didn't want to wait.

(Translated by Google) The place is beautiful, clean, and quiet. We went with my 5-year-old son, and he loved exploring every corner and letting his imagination run wild at every sound, hoping for an animal to appear. He didn't see it; surely, with the noise of the people, they're all hiding. But it's a beautiful experience. We visited the puma fountain (free) and then hiked the trail to the waterfall ($100). The wooden games are also a beautiful place for a family picnic. Since we weren't prepared, we decided to go to the inn there. The ravioli were delicious. The only constructive criticism is that it says "country restaurant," and the truth is that there wasn't a great variety of country food to make the place more special. Another 5 stars for everything: the attention upon arrival and the girl at the inn, etc. (Original) El lugar hermoso, limpio, tranquilo.

(Translated by Google) A very nice, inclusive place to go with kids, with lots of games and well-marked hiking trails. You pay 100 pesos per person at the entrance, and you get a complimentary 600 peso bottle of Salus still water. It also has a good place for lunch. (Translated by Google) The Cathedral is beautiful. I appreciate the attention in the offices. Mrs. Estela Bellini is wonderful. These things need to be said; we're not used to such kindness and attention when processing documents. The interior is a world apart. The people are hardworking and friendly. Thank you. Granja Arenas is an outstanding establishment known for its exceptional service and professional, amiable staff. It is a family-friendly venue that offers free admission and follows strict Covid protocols to ensure visitors' safety. The museum showcases a fascinating collection of Guinness World Record awarded exhibits, providing an enriching experience to all who visit.
our visit to Granja Colonia was a delightful mix of nostalgia and family fun. The highlight was the Guinness World Record Museum of pencils—a fascinating collection that instantly transported me back to my childhood. It’s a unique and charming exhibit that’s well worth exploring. Beyond the museum, the experience was enriched by the variety of jelly flavors available for purchase, each as intriguing as the last. The grounds themselves are perfect for a family outing, with a beautiful picnic area and a fun playground that the kids absolutely loved. Granja Colonia offers a blend of quirky attractions, natural beauty, and family-friendly amenities, making it a wonderful destination for all ages.

Excellent service, friendly and professional staff. Family friendly. Free entrance. Covid protocols. Interesting Record Guinness awarded collections displayed in some kind of museum which you can visit for free. There is a big shop next to the restaurant in which you can try and buy different types of jam, cheese and dulce de leche made in la granja. Original jam flavors like onion, earth plant, carrot, etc. I didn’t have the chance to try the restaurant. I recommend to stop by and visit it

Signed up with a local tour group, and this is an interesting place to visit on the way to Punta Del Este. If you are a cheese lover, make sure you try their homemade cheese, quite tasty.
Jonna N — Google review
Nice and calm places, along with Museum you have a dining and souvenir shop which offers jams, cheese and Dulce de Leche - prices are reasonable. Probably should have spent more than 20 minutes, in hindsight.

THIS IS THE STORE WHERE THEY SELL ARTESANAL CHEESE, not not not the museum. THE Museum is in a separate section of the building.

Pure heaven for keyring, pencil, pencil sharpener and ashtray aficionados. A bit overwhelming, and a tad amusing, for the uninitiated.

Interesting place. Visited this as part of a day trip to Colonia del Sacramento, and was part of the tour. Museum is a collection of random objects e.g. pencils, key rings, beverage cans etc. Museum was free. Would not have visited otherwise. Next to the museum, they sell lots of different jams (that you can sample as well), flavors you generally won't see anywhere. I would recommend visiting the store

The world's second largest keychain collection and the world's largest pencil collection, both in the same place. You can visit it for free and and they have a nice gift shop there
