The zoo São Carlos Ecological Park is a cost-free, expansive green area with dense vegetation. There are various food and toy vendors near the entrance. The park offers two entrances; one leads to a children's playground and picnic tables while the other provides access to geese, birds, snakes, and other mammals. Located just 5 km from the city center, this natural spot is easily accessible and suitable for visits both on weekdays and weekends. It even hosts evening activities.
Lovely place to visit in São Carlos. Free entry. We spent 2 hours wandering around enjoying the beautiful surroundings which are really well maintained. Very tranquil slice of nature on the outskirts of the city. The animals and birds were lovely to see but the enclosures for most of them were too small which is unfortunate and should be addressed. Great place to bring kids and they have just built a lovely new playground.

Great atmosphere, free admission, good place to see south America origin animal.
Pattapon S — Google review
My kids adore this place. It could benefit from investment, as there are empty displays and incomplete signage, but the location is beautifully wooded, the animals are interesting and exotic, and the kid's park is great. Worth every visit if your family is into this sort of place.

Highly recommend this Zoo/Ecological Park. Animals are all indigenous to Brazil and South America, which gives a great insight into the culture and wildlife. Very family friendly with all animal named in English/Portuguese. Free Entrance

This was one of the best resorts we’ve ever been to. We have been to several others, but the food here is the best we’ve ever had. The service was also amazing and they were very attentive. The executive chef even came over to make sure we were happy with our meals. We were so grateful! We are from Canada and do not speak Portuguese and we were so surprised at how kind the staff were ; they helped us in every way they could

It's currently 10:35 pm and the music is blasting.. we are in the 10th floor. This is family hotel, I was expecting the music to end at 10. This is very excessive, my young children can not fall asleep. It's a nice hotel but this will make us not want to come back here.
Brandon H — Google review
The water park is recommended if you have small kids. The food is good but not great. Sometimes the meat was dry, dessert not so cold as some would require. The mattresses had deeps and bumps. Restricting some types of food to enter the water park was also a turn off.
Rodrigo M — Google review
Great experience. Room needs to fix a few things, remote TV not Woking, lights hanging and toilet loose but all in all was good. The park is crowded but it has enough space to get by with no problems. Clean and spacious...

Sad to see the privatization of places that belonged to the city and its citizens. Most attractions at Poços de Caldas are now private and closed at this time. Yes, you heard me... the attractions are closed except for the christ. Once they open again all attractions will be charged... locations that were free for more than 100 years will now be charged. Needless to say, the Fonte dos Amores was closed. What saved the day were the monkeys who were coming to the gate to greet us. However, because the attraction has been closed, the monkeys have been hungry and tourists have been feeding them all types of foods even M&Ms.. so sad.
Debbie S — Google review
This is a very nice city trail by which I mean, your only one block outside a residential neighborhood and into the mata. Once on the trail you're immediately in dense foliage and on a steep, stairs-like climb for the next 500m. The last 100m or so is on open mountain exposed to sun and a view of your target, Christo. My observations, the trail could be more meandering through the jungle to get to the top rather than straight up. And of course, Brazilian style, there's a road for cars to drive to the top so you arrive into a parking lot, cars and the usual trash and noise. Check out the paragliding view on the backside!

A completely free exhibition telling the story of dinosaur archaeology near Uberaba and dinosaur natural history generally. Children love the huge outdoor models. Maintained by Universidade Federal do Triangulo Mineiro it is interesting enough, but with some commercial input it could rival more well-known institutions. I would have liked to make a cash donation, but there didn't seem to be anywhere to do so, and there was not much to buy in the very low-key gift shop.

Great place; the surroundings are like a part of a movie. The settings are just perfect. Well taken care of. Every detail. A bit far away but totally worth it. I wasn't able to check-in because there was a huge sport event outside the hotel taking place and we were just spectators. We will definitely go back as guests and try the SPA they have with so many varieties of services using the local minerals, mud and special waters😌. Make sure to bring a nice camera 🙌👍

Huge and beautiful place. Due to its history, all the forniture has to look alike the original old ones. So it happens to be kind of a place with simple furniture mixed with a huge and elegant building that has its own lake and thermal waters. Worth the view, worth the visit.

Shopping
Montes Claros Shopping is the largest mall in the city, offering a spacious retail center with over 160 stores, restaurants, and services. It features ample parking and easy accessibility. The mall caters to different age groups with its movie theaters, food court, games room, and diverse range of stores including a well-stocked supermarket. During the Christmas season, the mall is beautifully decorated with plenty of festive activities for children.
Very clean mall, they have a terrific food court with a great selection of restaurants to choose from, also it’s a very good place for kids as well with a playground and motorized cars to enjoy. They also have a grocery store at one end. Security is very good patrolling all around the mall.😊😊😊

We stumbled upon Montes Claros Shopping by accident, and it was a great place to end the day of our journey, a large food court with plenty of food options, and you can of course have an açaí bowl as a dessert. we visited during christmas season, and the mall was setup for that, plenty of decorations and an area for children to play.

We had visited this place as part of our trip to Chapada Diamantina. There were not that many people when we visited this place. We did not swim in the area within the cave. Once inside the cave, the steps are made of wood and handrails (wooden) are there to hold on and it is very safe. However, the steps leading to the cave entrance is stone steps and they are uneven and can be slippery if wet. Elderly persons need to be very careful. Also the pool is about 60 meters below.

Quite a beautiful place, a lot of parking space. 5 minutes downhill to the cave. It now costs 70 reals per person (includes life vest, snorkel, and goggles).
Guy A — Google review
Pure tourist attraction. We were allowed to stay in the water for 15 mins. That’s it. The place is a bit smaller than expected but still worth a look. You can’t dive, since it is mandatory to wear avest.

Really loved my visit to Poço Azul. They make sure it’s all very safe and it was a very unique experience swimming in the cave. I might have been lucky that there were no big groups when I was swimming, that made the experience relaxing and fun. Really glad I visited this place.

The cave is beautiful, floating experience is great, but this place has so much potential. It would be great to have someone explaining things about the place, historical information… the staff didn’t say much, just showed us around and gave us the rules for swimming.

Restaurant
Bataclan is a renowned restaurant in Ilhe, offering breathtaking views and specializing in seafood. The establishment's pleasant ambiance allows guests to immerse themselves in the local culture, as depicted in Jorge Amado's famous novel 'Gabriela, Cravo e Canela.' Once an old cabaret frequented by cocoa plantation owners, Bataclan now operates as a bar and restaurant while still captivating the imagination of many.
This is a little Gem of Ilhéus 💎 Highly recommended, food delicious ❗ Restaurant inspired by true events in historical building. Theme based on author Jorge Amado books. Menu very Gourmet, has several options. We had prime Beef stake, heaven in mouth, check out for yourself ❗ Can't go wrong with this place. Take a look at the photos...

It's an old and historical brothel, which was very famous during the 20's. The place was later set on fire, and was completely restored. Today it is a memorial place that tells the history of the city. It is possible to see some cabarét shows, and have a guided visit to the most famous mistress of the time. It is really worth visiting.

2022 review Historic place with nice environment. Well preserved and private. I liked the old photos on the walls and the cabaré corner. Menu seems fair with some good options to pick from. A landmark in Ilhéus. Totally recommended. 2023 review Decided to have lunch here on a bank holiday. Ordered the filet mignon that is in the menu picture (you can find mine here attached) and carne do sol with rice and cassava puree (awful). Filet mignon a little over cooked than I asked. Loved the premium drinks though!

My wife and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate our anniversary. We can’t put into words the quality of both the food and the service Bataclan delivered tonight. I ordered the filet mignon with penne with gorgonzola sauce and my wife had the sea food pasta, our entrees were excellent and perfectly cooked. My wife had a delicious Argentinean Malbec and I had the coldest tap beer you can possibly imagine. The historical site and live violinist adds even more reasons to visit this place. One of greatest experiences Ilheus has to offer.

Itacarezinho Beach

Itacarezinho Beach is a tropical paradise located on Ilhe Itacare road, 15 km from the city center. This 3.5 km long beach is surrounded by coconut trees and features powdery white sand and a freshwater stream cascading down from the hill onto the beach. It's known for its good waves, making it a popular spot for surfing. To reach this picturesque destination, visitors can either walk down the hill or drive through private property.
This spot is as close to heaven as you can get here on earth. Be sure to stop at the Mirante on the way down for a beautiful photo. If you have the money, you can rent a gorgeous cabana, but be prepared to open up your wallet. It’s about $300R per person. $250R comes back in food and drinks. The second option is $300R total for chairs, an umbrella, pizza and a few beers. My best recommendation is solid footwear for the walk (10 mins downhill and 15 mins uphill), carry your Havianas, and bring water, snacks, and towels. You can also hike to another nearby beach on a trail should you choose. Last great perk, you can rinse off in a fresh water waterfall coming from the nearby river. Totally worth the trek.
Adrienne M — Google review
Very beautiful and quiet beach. You can get there by walking through the club, leaving your vehicle on the roadside. If you want to go down, they charge R$350 per person, which will be converted into consumption. We used the entrance fee and it wasn't worth it. I recommend walking down as access is quick and safe. There's a very good pizzeria on the beach that doesn't charge for food and costs R$80 for a pizza for two people. They also rent chairs, but as there are lots of coconut palms, a canga on the beach with the shade of these trees will take the edge off the sun.

One of the best beaches in Itacaré. You can either leave your car at the entrance and walk down to the beach or park inside the property at a cost. Itacarezinho isn't usually crowded. (Translated by Google) From an infrastructure standpoint, it is an essential service that is extremely useful and important for the transportation and integration of the capital and the highways that come from the South, Southeast and Central-West of Brazil. The service is disorganized, and it wasn't busy, I can only imagine what it would be like on weekends and holidays. The bathroom is filthy, dirtier than an old gas station on the side of the road. It's absolutely absurd for the price they charge! How can the government of Bahia not monitor the service provided by this concession? The concessionaire Internacional Travessias is certainly not following the rules of the contract. It's a clear case that privatization will not improve the service if there is no monitoring and follow-up of the contract by the concessionaire!!! (Original) Terminal sem boa sinalização.
