Les Bains De Casteljaloux

Wellness center
Tours
Les Bains De Casteljaloux is the only thermal spa in its region, renowned for its therapeutic hot springs that are particularly effective for treating rheumatism. The spa features a unique blend of chloro-sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium-rich waters. While primarily designed for curists seeking wellness treatments, it also welcomes other visitors looking to unwind.
Don't be fooled by the english translation on the website - swimming trunks are not allowed! Women also don't seem to be allowed tankinis or swim dresses. The tickets they send you must be printed off, as we found out at the desk. Inside the facilities were lovely and not very crowded. A very relaxing two hours!
Molly O — Google review
It took us over 15 minutes just to book a massage and spa access at the reception, very poor service. Lovely ladies who gave us a massage but it wasn't very good quality at all, especially for the price. Upon entering the spa we were turned away because my partners swimming shorts were too big! Not a very enjoyable day out
Nicole G — Google review
Mixed feelings about this place. The new Hammams are great and the new sauna...but the Jacuzzi was rubbish. Not bubbly enough or warm enough. Too long in between cycles of the water jets in the pools too. A nice way to spend a couple of hours though.
Lisa M — Google review
Although it wasn't at all in poor condition the pool has undergone major refurb with the addition of extra facilities. Good and efficient welcome. If only we could replace the cantine with a lounge terrace and bar/snack a little more sophisticated
Paul D — Google review
Didn't allow us in with normal UK swimming trunks and the water is not a natural thermal but chlorinated swimming pool. No good reason for their rules. Fortunately they did give us a refund.
Shamash A — Google review
Good special @ €16 for 3 hrs. Needed a bit more guidance in English as I did not know what facilities were available exactly other than pools.

(Translated by Google) Visiting today with my children and grandchildren (4 and 6 years old), we appreciated the welcome, the kindness of the staff, the explanations for the activities, the magnificent shaded place, the vast treetop adventure course accessible all day and the restaurant with quality products and a very available cook (despite the reception that day of 30 people for a buffet), we also liked the number of benches, tables, resting places, and all that at very affordable prices. I recommend without hesitation.

(Translated by Google) Canoe activity carried out with my daughter and my grandchildren on 12/08, as well as the pony ride for the children (9 and 6 years old). Concerning the canoe, accessibility needs to be reviewed because it is moderately maintained. The vests are dirty as are the canoes, knowing that it is in the middle of nature, but we can see that the maintenance leaves something to be desired. The floating pontoon is frankly not great but with the help of an employee it can be done... The walk itself is not very interesting, nothing special to see. Getting out of the canoe could have been complicated but thanks to a kind dad and his family, everything went well. No employee to help... Regarding the pony ride, it proved difficult. Three ponies are offered, one small and two large. The little one left first with a dad and his child. We were offered the two older ones, who were a little upset because their friend had left... My grandchildren were equipped with riding bombs, without a charlotte underneath. Hygiene not respected. The walk quickly stopped because it was difficult for us to guide the animals due to their agitation and we made the children get off... The person who owned the horses left with my granddaughter but my grandson did not want to come back because he was afraid. The results of this day are really passable and it's a shame. It's been years since I came and nothing has changed or evolved. The site is not maintained, it is regrettable...

(Translated by Google) (School trip). Attentive staff. Very educational with the children (22 students) despite the blazing sun. A wonderful experience. The children were delighted. One small drawback: they don't have Freezbees for disc golf for groups. (Original) ( sortie scolaire). (Translated by Google) Wanted to go scootering but unfortunately there were only 3 present. We should have made a reservation (we had not seen it on the website, our mistake). But understood that they never had 4. So then disc golf. Was very disappointing. Only 9 small jobs were finished within half an hour. Always find it strange that a tourist attraction does not speak English. She did try! Very sweet. A place with so much potential, but this was just not very special. perhaps for people with small children (Original) Wilden steppen maar helaas waren er maar 3 aanwezig.

(Translated by Google) Friendly welcome. But... Having not tested the other activities, we can only confirm that the mini golf course was absolutely not maintained. I find this a shame during this period of ascent (where there is generally a large crowd). 2 people went behind us to sweep and take photos... But it was too late, our route was done. I would also add that I saw a gentleman in a wheelchair who could not access the snack bar, neither from the front nor from behind (no ramp and several steps). I have the photos but we can't publish... Surprising? (Original) Accueil sympathique. Surprenant ?

(Translated by Google) We love Cap Cauderoue. There are plenty of activities that the whole family will enjoy. Obviously tree climbing in complete safety. The catapult is also very popular, the pedal kart is very fun. When younger, the children loved going on pony rides in the pine forest. The barefoot trail is also very pleasant. And yesterday, we tested the canoe: the Gelise was in good water. It’s very nice even if there isn’t really anywhere to take a short break before reaching the Moulin des Deux Tours in Barbaste. The setting is really very pleasant and beautiful. The teams are always great! The director is keen to develop activities and maintain the establishment impeccably. He made good recruitments. We already had to be helped up to the heights of the treetop adventure: always great. (Original) On adore Cap Cauderoue.

Interesting museum on working plum/prune farm. Multilingual audio guide included in entrance fee (of 5€ for an adult but check website), provides the historical details. A film brings in the present day farm and processes. Excellent tasting with parking for motorhome overnight.
S H — Google review
Really informative visit and well curated space. Audio guide gave lots of growing history and heritage context to this proud growing provenance. Doesn't take ages to see it all, but definitely a short and sweet excursion. We would recommend to people in the area. Some great products available to buy in the shop too.
Alex B — Google review
Interesting place, the process of making prunes is impressive. Nice products to take home.
Anne R — Google review
Really lovely selfguided tour with audio guide headsets and a tasting at the end. Learnt that "Agen Prunes" are called that because that was where they were shipped from. Feel annoyed for Villeneuve area where they are actually grown! Lots of other interesting insights to be had as well as 'silly photo' opportunities using the cardboard cut out face tableau. The Prunes in Eau De Vie from the shop are AMAZING. Weighed a tonne but still brought sone home on flight 😁
H B — Google review
We visited last week and my family enjoyed it and my kids learns a lot from the museum to the video watching and tasting and shopping their products. We wanted to enjoy the corn maze too but we can't stand the heat so we decided to finish our journey and co back early. But yeah all are good and stuff are very accomodating. Thankyou! My kids said it was their favorite part of our holiday trip.

Stayed on this great plum museum, farm and shop. You can have electricity for your moterhome for 5 euros including water and toilets. Very good museum
Deevette S — Google review
Over priced for what it is and not great for English speakers. €30 for a family of 6 and that didn't include the maze. Guide is in English but then film is in french with German subtitles. The tasting was lovely

Super place to visit. Interesting museum, excellent produce, I especially liked the prune and armagnac ice cream! But you do need deep pockets for most products.

Nestled in the heart of Condom, the stunning Condom Cathedral boasts a rich history that dates back to the 7th century. The current structure, showcasing exquisite Gothic architecture, was completed in the 17th century and underwent restoration in the 19th century. Visitors are greeted by its grand interior featuring soaring vaulted ceilings and an abundance of natural light streaming through magnificent stained glass windows. Ornate carvings adorn both the choir and walls, adding to its charm.
In the main square, this southwestern Gothic cathedral with its quadrangular tower dominating the area has magnificent stained glass windows. It really deserves the visit! Nice square outside with statues of the 4 musketeers

From as early as the 7th century there has been a church on this site and the current Gothic-style Cathédrale dates from the 17th century but restored in the 19th century. It's voluminous inside with large vaulted ceilings and beautifully naturally lit through the many stunning stained glass windows. The choir and walls are lined with ornate carvings. It's a must visit.

Latour Marliac

Tree farm
Nature & Parks
Latour-Marliac is a historic water lily garden that dates back to 1875 and holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Claude Monet's famous water lilies. Visitors can explore the expansive 3-hectare garden, featuring a diverse array of water lilies and aquatic plants set amidst picturesque ponds and lush landscapes. The on-site restaurant offers delightful dining experiences, complemented by enchanting Sunday night dinners with live music during summer months.
I love this garden - we always make a point to bring visitors to the area to see this as the views and landscapes are beautiful and the flowers and wildlife are amazing. I would also recommend the food in the restaurant as it's great value and delicious. I actually took a few photos this visit and I'm happy to say I managed to capture the kingfisher as well as many amazing frogs. Very well worth a visit
Nick P — Google review
Beautiful gardens, amazing diversity water lilies and an extraordinary selection of frogs! This garden offers a lovely tranquil environment and a really good restaurant in the grounds. I didn't visit the museum, but look forward to using my annual pass (only 1€ more than the day entry) to go back and visit that too.

Wonderful water lilies gardens and other water plants. This is the place where Monet bought his water lilies in 1894. 3 ha of ponds and gardens and and water garden centre. On Sunday night dinners with music during summer months. At dinner time, music was superb so was the location. But unfortunately there were not enough staff and food to cater for not very large number of people(sic)Big let down.Maybe lunch would work better. And we traveled specially for the set dinner and music,it was disappointing.Ruined by total lack of management.

Great to see so much waterlillies and lotus. Wel spend visit
Emile G — Google review
Bought over 550 euros of water lilies and lotus in 2023, ordered the lotus in the November for delivery the following April - 4 lotus arrived but one plant failed, contacted Latour-Marliac in July 2024 and they told me they would not refund my money for the plant but would send me a replacement for April 2025. I felt it prudent to ask for a bill of sale for the free plant - just in case I was forgotten as I had to wait 10 months for the replacement. April came and passed and when I contacted the company in May it took 3 or 4 weeks to get a reply for them to say they had lost my order and the lotus that I was promised was no longer available so they agreed to send me a different type. That plant never arrived and when I complained again I was told they would give me a store voucher! I refused and demanded a refund and finally it arrived today in my bank. Now bearing in mind in my eyes I had spent quite a bit of money on plants for my lakes, the customer service was not that great and I felt a little cheated I had to wait 10 months for a replacement plant that never arrived only to be then asked if I wanted a voucher to spend again ........ Apart from the one plant that did not sprout any life I was very happy with the quality of the plants and the way they were packaged ....just let down by the customer service.
Mark C — Google review
Reasonable food, no dressing on salad of one dish. But extremely long waiting time, with other tables that arrived much later being served. With 3 kids at the table this not got service!!!

Beautiful Lilly gardens, let down by the unhelpful and unwelcoming restaurant/cafe staff. After we tried to book in advance there was no reply we arrived 1330 (entrance sign stated 1330-1500 lunch) we were informed it wasn’t possible, even with a number of empty tables.

Collégiale Saint-Pierre, La Romieu

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Cultural landmark
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
The town is known for its beautiful old buildings and medieval streets. The town is not very big. You can take an hour to explore this beautiful village. A visit to La Romieu is not complete without a visit to its beautiful church and the accompanying monastery. Many names, signs and images of cats can be found in this town. This is due to a story from the Middle Ages, in which the cats in the village are said to have chased away a huge mouse plague. Since then, the cats in this village have been revered. When you spend your holidays in the Gers department, a visit to this charming town is definitely worth it!
N D — Google review
Unfortunately there has been restoration work for several months, that why I would give three stars only, so I didn't feel like paying a fee this time especially in accordance with the last paragraph of Article 17 of the French 1905 law, access to the parish church (the collegiate church in this case) does not have to be paid for : "The visit of the buildings and the exhibition of listed movable objects will be public : they may not give rise to any tax or fee." Access to the outbuildings (tower and other) may be. You can therefore visit the church alone without having to pay ! Nevertheless, this splendid collegiate church, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful buildings in the Gers region. Its 14th-century square and octagonal towers impose their solemnity in the very center of the village. The architectural ensemble is the result of the project of Arnaud d'Aux, a local boy, son of a wealthy lord, who became a very influential cardinal at the papal court of Clement V (based in Avignon). In 1314, then private consul to King Edward II of England, he undertook the construction of this heritage jewel. A cloister, whose sculpted Romanesque capitals can be admired, was added in 1320. The entrance (to the north of the building) once provided direct access. Today, it is reached via the tourist office. A breathtaking view awaits you, a timeless journey into Southern Gothic style and preserved solemnity. Between the arches, sculptures, painted walls, and vaults of the single-nave church, the climb to the bell tower, its two octagonal towers (one of which contains a secret passage with a double-spiral staircase), everything is absolutely magnificent. As you move up the floors, you can finally admire the sacristy frescoes, which have been restored and made accessible (until now they were visible behind a gate). The patrol path and the gardens remain mysterious, filled with a historical aura that sends shivers down your spine. The view from the top takes you to an endless horizon ...

Wonderful location, steeped in history. Very worthy of the World Heritage status. Perfect spiritual stop over for pilgrims on the Compastella de Santiago.

Walygator Sud-Ouest - Parc d'Attractions | Lot-et-Garonne (47)

Mentioned on
2 lists
Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Walygator Sud-Ouest - Parc d'Attractions in Lot-et-Garonne (47) is a delightful amusement park that caters to visitors of all ages, offering an exciting mix of attractions from thrilling roller coasters to charming carousels. Families can enjoy a day out with plenty of dining options available and the opportunity for picnicking at designated tables throughout the park.
A small, but very nice park. Waiting time for attractions was under 10 minutes or less. The ticket price is fair, and you get a lot more for what you pay compared to bigger parks. Will be back for Christmas animations.
M C — Google review
I am giving this park 4 stars to encourage it because we enjoyed ourselves and perhaps it needs encouragement. There were a couple of good rides, the water based ones were the best. However the other rides seem a little tired or perhaps there just weren't enough people. The gardens were beautiful but the toilets were bad. Somebody spent a lot of money to build this place back in the 1990s. In 2024 it felt unloved.
Philip O — Google review
This theme park was fantastic for our children aged between 4 and 7! We all had great fun on the rides.Enough to keep them busy and small enough to see everything and go on things multiple times. They were too small for some of the bigger rides and needed adults with them on a lot of the rides. Thankfully we had enough adults to go with each child but this is something to be aware of. They are strict on their height restrictions and rules. Food vendors weren't brilliant. Food was average and service wasn't great but lots of places to enjoy a picnic if you're organised. We went to the water park for a while afterwards but that got closed due to a thunderstorm approaching. The only downside was that we were not offered a chance to return in the next few days due to this closure which might have been a kind gesture.
Alice B — Google review
There's attractions for anyone. The only thing I don't reccomend are the slow pirate boats (the ones on water, not the swinging one, the swinging one is cool) since the time lenght of it and the pace you lose your patience at - however, I am an adrenaline hunter (my favourite ride is the six-times overhead spinning roller-coaster, seen in the first posted picture).
Ioana. — Google review
An enjoyable experience for my family. The space size is good. Not so cramp. Bring your own lunches there if possible. The queue to get your sandwich will take up 45minutes of your precious time.
Garry N — Google review
Only used the amusement park portion and not the water park (which looked inviting). It was a nice place for a family outing mid-week during our summer break, and my 6-year-old (almost 7 years old) had the time of his life 🙏 You can bring your own food and picnic, there are lots of tables. But yes, as other reviewers have stated, some rides were out of order and parts of the park looked neglected and dilapidated. The best thing about it was that there weren't that many people so we didn't have to stand in a long line and we could ride the rides multiples of times. It is expensive for what it is but with the cost of living skyrocketing everywhere, I guess it is what it is. They will charge you 3.5 euros for a pony ride, 5 euros for parking and 10 euros for per digital download the photo they take of you during the rollercoaster rides. There is a sea lion show, which is a nice touch. Go during the weekday and stay late to avoid the crowds. Overall, a fun, family-friendly attraction if your expectations aren't too high. The bathrooms could be cleaner though.
Ellen L — Google review
A nice theme park. No overly challenging rides, but good for the kids. As it was early July and midweek there were no queues for anything. Only observation is that food is REALLY expensive (15-19 euros per person for a burger meal) however you can take in a picnic and it's no problem.

Nice and cooperative staff, stayed in line to buy the tickets and for some of the rides. Rode on all intense rides that were open and some more boring ones. Wanted to visit Thor's mine which didn't appear as closed on the website but at the park it was blocked. The best ride of the park was probably the Boomerang Price seems worth it for the amount of rides available and their quality.

The treatments we had, although short and expensive were very good. The pools were nice but I expected a little more for the price the hot tub in the garden needed replacement...we could barely get it to work. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the lovely women at the reception spoke good english to make up for our poor French. I wouldn't go again at that price but we enjoyed our tome there.

(Translated by Google) I had the chance to enjoy a massage at Agenum Thermae with Jessica, and it was simply exceptional! 🌸 The location is beautiful and conducive to relaxation, but the real experience was the massage: Jessica has golden hands! It was, without exaggeration, one of the best massages I've ever had: both relaxing and deep, perfectly adapted to my needs. I left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. (Translated by Google) Disappointed by the private experience offered by aginum thermae, reduced to an hourly rate. - Sauna not airtight, preventing proper temperature rise. - Jacuzzi heavily chlorinated, stinging the eyes. - Basic shower stall. - No shower gel in the stall. - Toilet and changing stall separate from the room. - No hooks in the stalls to hang your clothes when changing. - Changing stall equipped only with a curtain. - Fruit juice mediocre. Otherwise, the jacuzzi was nice, as was the welcome... But the room was really too basic.

The welcome was very good, waited almost 10 minutes for them to bring me sandals and they ended up telling me that this wait counts in my paid time...after changing the rest 1 hour of swimming instead of 1h30... not all the jets work, outdoor spa to be reviewed (pitiful state) seen on the outside offices, no privacy in the showers, maybe review the locker system as well. I am really disappointed, having frequented SPAs, I do not necessarily recommend. Souleilles Foie Gras is a renowned establishment in the Tarn & Garonne region, known for its ancestral tradition of producing high-quality goose and duck foie gras. It is a must-visit for food enthusiasts, offering live cooking demonstrations and a museum showcasing the history and production of foie gras. Visitors can indulge in tastings of various foie gras varieties before exploring the on-site store to purchase these delectable products.
Most wonderful experience. These people really show passion for their job and are rightfully proud of their accomplishments. We visited it some 10 years ago and it still holds its charms. Having lunch here afterwards is HIGHLY recommended. For very democratic prices you get a very good, fresh and delicious plate accompanied with some great wine. Most highly recommended!!

Bonaguil Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Bonaguil Castle, a 13th-century fortress with added defensive features, offers tours to visitors. The castle is located in a picturesque forested area and is highly regarded among French castles. English information leaflets are accessible from the castle. Bonaguil Castle boasts an intriguing history and most areas of the property can be visited by guests both inside and out. Spectacular views can be enjoyed from all angles of the castle, particularly from its highest point.
I was lucky enough to be under 10 minutes away in my rented gîte and I love my medieval history, so I thought I'd go and take a look. The drive to the castle flew by and in no time I was looking up a very impressive medieval fortress, I parked at the bottom of the hill but if you're not up for the march to the top then there is a car park at the entrance to Bonaguil castle however you will miss the little boutique shops on the winding path up. €9.50, for an adult, plus if you take your earbuds, there is a qr code that will give you access to a walk and talk guide for free. I was incredibly lucky to have the castle almost to myself. Two tours of very young French children were just finishing their guided visit, so it was all mine 😊 I won't spoil your visit by going into too much detail, but it is well worth a visit, and you have access to pretty much all areas. It's a great way to spend a few hours. In the chapel, you can even buy wine from a local producer. The white is a tasty chardonnay, and the red is a black as midnight malbec, I tasted, and I bought one of each. A nice little restaurant nestles at the foot of the chateau, so if you want to eat, there is that option. Have fun and watch out for the dragon!!
Andy D — Google review
This is a really stunning example of a defensive castle. There are really well informed tour guides if you want to understand the place in all it’s glory, but equally a well signed and annotated route if you want to be self guided. It’s also a venue for theatre which friends have told me is extremely good. Well worth the time for a visit…
Julian T — Google review
This was a surprise find. The ruined chateau lies in an idyllic valley setting, surrounded by forest. The local department has sensitively restored the ruins with a light touch. It’s a defensive structure and its elements have been retained. The signage, information, brochures and audio guides are very professional and comprehensive and are in French and English. And it doesn’t shut for lunch!! Lovely helpful staff, too. There is a delightful wooded picnic area, clean toilet facilities and parking. We were delighted to visit it, and fully recommend making the effort to visit. You won’t be disappointed.
Robert A — Google review
Must see castle. Not overly restored and the route through the castle is very well thought through.

How heavenly beautiful is this portal and the church. We were very unlucky because the cloitre was closed from 12:00 to 14:00 and there was no time left to wait any longer. We had arrived at 12:00. The portal is great and impressing. A masterpiece of sculpture. Don't forget to study the 4 vices at the left side and the 4 virtues at the right side. There was a Portuguese ceremony in the church for the celebration of the Virgin Marie's appearance in Fatima on 13 May 1917.

The horses and ponies seemed to be doing really well there! Then, we were warmly welcomed by Marilou, an instructor who explained everything very clearly (kind, energetic, funny, and shared her very interesting knowledge about horses!). We let ourselves be guided by Marilou, and it was truly wonderful. My daughter was delighted, and so was I! The warm-up laps, some games, and then a wonderful ride, ending with the pony brushing ☺️ Honestly, we had a blast! We loved the place, Marilou, and the content of the ride! History Museums
The Ingres Museum is located in a stunning riverside mansion in Montauban, between Toulouse and Bordeaux. It houses an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings by renowned artists such as Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Emile-Antoine Bourdelle. The museum also served as a hiding place for the Mona Lisa during World War II. Visitors can explore opulent rooms and admire the extensive collection of artwork, including portraits, mythological figures, and architectural elements.
I enjoyed our visit today. There is a car park very close to the museum which had spaces for us on market day. The machine to get a parking ticket from is complicated and reacts to key presses very slowly but there is an option to choose English which helps. Counter-intuitively the choice of time for your stay is towards the end of the process. The museum has good toilets opposite the reception office. There are 4 floors and finding how to get into the upper floors was a challenge. The entrances are behind a blank metal door off the stairs. There are no intelligible signs saying "Turn this handle"! But once you get in there is a lot to see. We enjoyed our visit.

Very interesting museum. More of an art gallery. Some great Boudelle sculptures and a whole series of Venetian School art. Not my taste but interesting in their own right. The building has beautiful ceilings
Susan C — Google review
The recently renovated building is almost as lovely as the collections it holds! A truly impressive and educational collection of a local artist's work. Amazing collection of sketches and models of works that grace both the US and UK national galleries plus many more. The spaces and exhibits for the temporary shows equally impressive. A must visit in Montaubon!
Roger — Google review
It is a beautiful building showcasing some fantastic art. A good mixture of paintings and sculptures, with one room dedicated to the sketches of Ingres. Finished the trip with a visit to the cafe for tea and a pastry.
Ian H — Google review
I loved this museum for the permanent collection of both Ingres and Bourdelle and found the collection interesting and educational.
Michael F — Google review
This museum is very interesting and depicting the correlation between the two artists Ingres and Bourdelle which is very interesting to understand. As well, the museum shows the personal collection of arts and drawings from Ingres which provides a strong perspective on Ingres' creation process.

Excellent art museum close to the centre of Montauban. It is the first time I have revisited it since the renovations and they seem to have done a very good job. All the exhibits are well displayed too. I particularly enjoyed the basement area in what felt like an old chapel. Many nice displays, some quite amusing. Recommended.

Hi all, before to start to describe this place, think about how little we know about what surrounds us? Very beautiful area and if you order a guide who just an hour or a little more will tell you about the history of all the places and buildings and people who lived in this city you will understand how much surrounds us. I would highly recommend you to visit the city of Montauban.

Great, smaller town square with deep brick arch colonnades, ideal in hit weather. Bars and street food all around, and a fantastic squirting/misting water ' fountain' area for the kids to play in and get wet.

Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden, nestled in the heart of Toulouse, offers a serene escape with its meticulously designed landscape. This tranquil oasis celebrates the bond between Toulouse and Kyoto, featuring traditional elements like a tea pavilion, stone lanterns, and a koi pond. Visitors can wander along winding paths, admiring carefully pruned plants and finding moments of zen amidst the urban bustle.
I absolutely loved the Pierre-Baudis Japanese Garden. It’s a beautiful space of silence and contemplation—a true little portal to Japan right in the city. A well-deserved visit for anyone looking to relax and soak in peaceful surroundings. I really enjoyed it!

Beautiful gardens. Sometimes quite busy but fun to watch everyone posing on the bridge. Other times very quiet and tranquil.
Renee A — Google review
A wonderful gem in Toulouse. The Japanese garden is done wonderfully and has a little Japanese house which explains the design of the garden. There’s a little bridge with fish in the pond. There’s also a raked zen garden. A tranquil place.
Brenda P — Google review
The garden itself is really peaceful and well-kept, with a nice layout that makes it easy to wander around and enjoy the scenery. It didn’t feel too crowded despite being a weekend. Overall, a really pleasant spot to relax for a bit if you’re in the area.

This is a traditional Japanese garden located within Jardin Compans-Caffarelli. Modeled after the gardens of Kyoto, it was created in 1990 and named in honor of Pierre Baudis, the city’s mayor at the time. The garden faithfully recreates key elements of Japanese landscaping, including a red arched bridge, bonsai trees, a sand garden, bamboo groves, stone lanterns, and a koi pond. It offers a serene, exotic retreat within the urban landscape, inviting visitors to enjoy a moment of peace and harmony in the heart of the city.
Seokjin H — Google review
really enjoyed this little garden only small area is actually Japanese. There is a small pond with Koi fish and turtle which is interesting to see. there's a Japanese building on the on the pond which provides shade and some minimal seating. Be careful as some paths are made out of stone and uneven so better in mind if you're going with elderly however most of them are flat.

Basilique Saint-Sernin de Toulouse, a medieval basilica located in Toulouse, France, is renowned for housing relics of 128 saints and a thorn believed to be from the Crown of Thorns. This UNESCO-listed site is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Europe. The church's crypt contains an extensive collection of relics donated by Charlemagne to the abbey on this site in the 800s.
The Basilique Saint-Sernin is an unmissable monument in Toulouse. It’s a stunning and well-preserved example of Romanesque architecture, known for its impressive size and beautiful details. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries, it was an important stop for pilgrims on the Way of St. James. Visiting this basilica is a must for anyone interested in history, art, or architecture—it truly captures the spirit of the city.
Sofia C — Google review
It is a nice and clean church, both the exterior and interior are beautiful, it was a pleasure to visit this church during a day trip to Toulouse and a walk around the city center. When we entered the church, young girls and boys were singing religious songs and a good spiritual atmosphere was created. The church was relatively quiet and had the necessary peace. I personally felt very good and I hope you will also have a good experience visiting this church.
Javad A — Google review
The basilica is one of the largest Romanesque-style churches in Europe and a major landmark of Toulouse. Construction began around 1080 and continued through the 13th century. The building reflects a pure Romanesque design with later Gothic additions, combining red brick with pale stone. Its most iconic feature is the 64-meter octagonal bell tower, a defining element of the city’s skyline.
Seokjin H — Google review
This is a truly mind blowing cathedral. It is the largest remaining Romanesque church in the world. Its soaring barrel voltage ceiling gives a sense of space and majesty. There are wonderful statues and some incredible fresco paintings which have survived hundreds of years. I must see when in this city.
G M — Google review
Beautiful architecture. We were lucky that there was a wedding ceremony when we entered so we got to hear the organ play live which was amazing. The entrance is free. Highly recommend a visit.
Cristina H — Google review
A more grandiose cathedral, visible from many parts of the city because of the distinctive tower. The access was limited when we visited because there was a service on.

The Couvent des Jacobins is a remarkable Dominican edifice in Toulouse, known for its Gothic architecture and as the final resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas. The Eglise des Jacobins boasts ornate stained-glass windows, while the Cloitre des Jacobins features graceful russet-brick columns surrounding a green courtyard.
This is one of the more beautiful sites that we visited in Bath - the stained glass windows are lovely! It was free to visit the church itself with only a 5 Euro charge each to visit the adjacent cloister. Both are recommended and can be toured in about an hour.

The Convent of the Jacobins in Toulouse is a beautiful and peaceful place. The interior is striking, with its elegant brick columns and calm atmosphere. Although the exterior is currently under renovation, it’s still well worth a visit. Built in the 13th century by the Dominican Order, it holds great historical and spiritual significance, especially as the resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Sofia C — Google review
This is an incredibly beautiful building. It’s worth taking a couple of hours just to enjoy the building aside from anything on display. The exhibitions are incredible and the acoustic for music amazing. The gardens are just so gorgeous. Make sure you allow enough time to visit.
Jacqueline K — Google review
Along with the cathedral, this is a must see in Toulouse. It is five euros for adults to enter, but it is absolutely worth it. With the restoration work that is going on the exterior. The entrance is via the refractory. In here, several of the lunettes have been removed from the walls and are being restored on the ground. The church chapter house and other areas are absolutely fascinating. There are many audiovisual guides which explain some of the amazing architecture and history. It would be very easy to spend an hour to two hours, marveling at this beautiful building.

The Convent of the Jacobins in Toulouse is simply breathtaking .The brick walls feel warm and grounded, while inside, the soaring palm-shaped vault seems to lift your spirit upward. Being there makes me feel both humbled and inspired — a quiet reminder of beauty, history, and serenity all in one space.
Yash V — Google review
Its beautiful, and interesting to visit inside .. The ticket is reduced if you have a student ID then its 3€
Gauri K — Google review
The couvent amazed me with its main church: a row of giant columns supports the vault and divides the space into two parts. Otherwise, the monastery has a traditional structure with an internal garden with arcades.
Olga I — Google review
The convent is one of the most significant examples of Southern French Gothic architecture and the historical heart of the Jacobins (Dominican Order), founded in Toulouse in the early 13th century. Construction began in 1229 and was completed in the 14th century. The convent played a central role in scholarly, preaching, and missionary activities across medieval Europe. It houses the relics of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the Dominican theologian and philosopher, whose remains were transferred here in the 14th century. The name "Jacobins" comes from the common French nickname for the Dominicans during that time. The church’s interior is renowned for its palm tree–shaped vaulted ceiling, where ribbed vaults fan out from slender columns. ※ Included in the Toulouse Pass Tourisme.

Cité de l'Espace is a futuristic theme park and museum in Toulouse that offers an interactive experience for space enthusiasts of all ages. Visitors can explore exhibits, watch IMAX films, and gaze at the giant Ariane space rocket. The museum also features a playground called the Little Astronaut for kids to enjoy while adults tour the Mir Space station. This space-themed attraction provides an educational and entertaining experience for families, making it a must-visit site in Toulouse.
The exhibition and museum dedicated to space and science is truly a remarkable experience. It features an array of captivating attractions, thrilling rides, and engaging shows that cater to visitors of all ages, making it an ideal destination for families. Nestled within a thoughtfully designed science park, the entire experience is both convenient and immersive. What stands out is the careful attention given to explaining the wonders of the universe. Each display and interactive element invites curiosity and exploration, making complex concepts accessible and fascinating. I was particularly enchanted by the rover exhibition, which offered a hands-on glimpse into Mars exploration, and the breathtaking moon takeoff and landing simulation, which transported me to the very edge of the cosmos. Overall, this exhibition comes highly recommended for anyone eager to expand their knowledge and ignite their imagination!

Great place. I saw a lot of comments that everything is in French only, well, that's not true, apart from some spectacles, everything is available in French, English and Spanish. However, they could provide some subtitles for the French only parts. I spent there 1 full day, it's enough to see the most important parts and walk through the whole object. If you want to really have full experience and see everything thoroughly, 2 days are recommended. Great place for kids, adults and anyone who loves space exploration. My favorite spectacle was the imax space images. Overall, highly recommended.
Pawel B — Google review
There are lots of shows which are really informative and educational. We loved the Mars Rover one, but the only thing was everything was explained in French so we had to use live translation. The planetarium shows has audio guides in english. Other than above this is a great place to visit for both kids and adults who love space.
Ramyabharathi D — Google review
If you’re in Toulouse and even remotely curious about space, the Cité de l’Espace is a must-visit — especially with kids. I went with my daughter, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we’ve had together. The IMAX Deep sky show was fantastic. Gazing at the stars in the Planetarium made us feel like we were travelling through the galaxy. The highlight is the Lune Explorer where you get to experience being an astronaut on a mission to Moon. You can literally feel the 2G force!
Yash V — Google review
It's a must see if you are in the area. I would recommend setting a few hours aside if you visit - especially if you want to check out some of the shows on offer. Planetarium and take off simulations are great - the latter does have quite a bit of a wait time however. Translation headphones are available for planetarium - English and Spanish. There's also a restaurant and food trucks, the only thing missing was a coffee truck for some pick me up. Overall spent around 5h and haven't seen everything.
Jakub J — Google review
Love it! Very good place to visit. Full of astronomy, stars, planets, and fun things. Tons of activities to do and see. You would need the whole full day for this. Highly recommended.
Nopphol T — Google review
Nice space oriented museum, from the first rocket into space, to the future. Pitty that there isn't any Dutch, as a neighbour country this would have been nice. (Translating everything for my kids was exhausting 😁) A lot of interactive stuff, friendly staff, children are more than welcome to experiment and try things. But again, only in french.. A lot to discover, you'll need at least a full day if you want to see everything.
Jonathan J — Google review
On a warm summer day, we visited the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse with our children—and what an experience it was! The interactive space museum offers an incredible variety of things to see and do, both indoors and outdoors. Our kids were thrilled to try out the simulators (with almost no waiting lines), where they felt like real space shuttle pilots, tractor drivers, and even captains of a fishing boat. Outside, you can walk among life-size spacecraft and even step inside some of them—something truly unique in Europe. One of the highlights was the panoramic theater, showing an engaging film about the galaxy and our solar system. It's just a pity that much of the content was only in French. For a museum that celebrates European cooperation in space, we had hoped for a bit more multilingual accessibility 😉. We had a great time and, honestly, ran out of time after four hours of exploring. Whether it’s sunny or rainy, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

Bruniquel Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Bruniquel Castle offers a nice visit with beautiful views of the town and valley. The museum part of the tour may be lacking in information, but the guided audio tour provides valuable insights. The small parking lot by the castle is convenient for visitors, especially those with strollers. For a moderate fee, visitors can explore two well-preserved castles and learn about paleo cave dwellings.
Better than I had expected. This is more than a “double castle site” as it’s a small village that was once upon a time a larger town. It has tumbledown properties in amidst those which have been renovated and it’s very much a lived in village. The ascent from the car park was very manageable for the average person again not as steep as perhaps reviews had led me to believe. There is a very good tourist information office as you enter the village. There is parking at the top of the hill with easy access to the village and castle. There are some restaurants so refreshment is easy.
Deryn H — Google review
What an awesome amazing castle. I took the audio accompaniment in English and if I was to visit again, I would take it again! It is a must if you want to get the most out of your visit. Lovely friendly English speaking ladies on reception who are knowledgeable about the castle. You can tell they really enjoy their job. The castle is in various states of repair. Restoration work has been carried out in most of the rooms that are open & available to the public to see. I appreciated seeing what unrestored parts of the castle looked like too.
Margaret C — Google review
Spectacular setting but you need to stop on the road to the village to get the best photograph as once you reach the castle you are too close and at the wrong angle to photograph it all. It costs €5 to enter and the lady at Reception was extremely helpful, giving us a map and explaining the recommended route. It doesn't take long to see everything, we did it in about 20 minutes. There is a recorded guide available which probably takes longer.
John L — Google review
What a lovely place this is with plenty to do and see. The village is very pretty and the castle is amazing. Well worth a visit

An impressive historical monument since 1840, the building (12th, 13th and 17th centuries) is built at the very top of the cliff overlooking the confluence of the Vère and the Aveyron, on the site of an ancient Roman castrum. Property of the Counts of Toulouse in the 12th century, it was shared in the 15th between two branches of the House of Comminges, which explains the current division into the Château Jeune and the Château Vieux. Also known for having been the filming location for the movie "Le Vieux Fusil" with Romy Schneider and Philippe Noiret ...
Enjoy L — Google review
We had a much better experience than we had expected, based on a review by a local guide. As others have said, the reception staff are very helpful. We were given the choice of the audio guide or a written guidebook. We opted for the latter - which was in English and French - and found it very useful. A wonderful location and two very interesting castles. Rather puzzled about another reviewer’s comment about cobwebs; in a building dating from 12th century, how surprising!
Jeremy P — Google review
Wonderful medieval village and castle definitely worth to make the detour. Nice small cobblestone alleys that lead to the top of the village (relatively steep climb but not very long), where the old (medieval) and the new (16th- 17th) castles are located. In the museum you find the details of the Neanderthaler found here as well as the cave discovered around 1990.
Henri L — Google review
2 Castles side by side located on a cliff 90 metres above the adjacent river. This is a very interesting place to visit with a fascinating history. We spent several hours wandering through the castles and grounds listening to the self guided tour information. Well worth a visit.
