No admittion fee. There were definitely real dinosaur tracks in a couple different layers of what was obviously mud but became stone. The mud was pushed up around the tracks in silted mud that later dry cracked and became petrified. Not just a big hammer and chisel job I was expecting to find when I went there. It's worth taking a look if you're in the area. Also there were some friendly monkeys in the wild that wanted to be fed. (Not allowed, but we did anyway) We had a picnic in one of the little mini pavilions there.

There are 2 different operators and different trips to do. We only did one which went to cangaço (100 reais each for our tour ). The boat ride was about 50min (starts at 9am ) till a eco parque. The trail starts there (an additional cost of 30 reais) (1.5 km one way and the same back ) with historical explanations in Portuguese (passing through cânions and memorials). There is a very nice waterslide that goes very fast for the daredevils (happy kids). There is also a buffet that costs 60 reais each with a large variety of food (fish, vegetables, meat, fruits). It can be a great place if you're looking for this type of store but be attentive of the prices - you can similar items for huge price variance. Tip: things here are cheaper than most of the stores of Pelourinho. Extra tip: though the market itself may not be what you're expecting take the opportunity to visit the marine located a few steps of it. The view is stunning and a good place for nice photos.

The Elevador Lacerda is a historic art deco elevator that provides scenic views while connecting the upper and lower parts of Salvador. It offers a convenient and affordable way to explore the old city center, with taxis, buses, and foot travel also being viable options. This iconic elevator was erected in the mid to late 1800s and showcases impressive Art Deco design from additional work done in the early 20th century.
It's a small pastry and ice cream shop situated right next to the elevator. I have to admit that the ice creams are delicious, generously served, and really cheap. You may choose to get them in a cone or a cup. The 'Pave' flavor is amazing! Pave is a Brazilian cake-like dessert.

The City around the elevator is dangerous. The elevator looks good, but it's not spectacular to use.
A tourist attraction with a lot of history.
⭐ The elevator is very fast and takes you to the upper city in a few seconds
⭐ We did not pay an entrance fee and did not have to wait in a queue
⭐ Nothing else to say or to do. Very straightforward. It is an elevator after all. But fun nonetheless!
Also, prices for souvenirs in the upper city are cheaper than at Mercado Modelo!
Lacerda Elevator was the first urban elevator in the world when it opened on December 8, 1873 the 63 meters tall elevator takes you from lower town to upper town. A major tourist attractions and photo spot of Salvador. Great views of the bay and the governors palace.
Beware of people who try to sell souvenirs and paint your body. They pretend it’s a freebie but will try to get as much as they can from you. Another advice, do not wear gold necklaces and such. Large groups or maybe with a guide is safer.
The history behind the construction is interesting, however it’s not a great place to go. Going up and down costs R$0,15 per visitor and the elevator is too crowded, hot as hell and smells sweat. Great view up there though.
It's very cheap at only R$0.15, and conveniently located. It facilitates a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Pelourinho or from Pelourinho to the market. There may be a bit of a line depending on the time of day that you visit. Can also get a bit hot during the day. There are stunning views from the top, a very popular photo op spot, as well as a famous ice cream shop help you beat the heat. Can't miss it on a visit to Salvador and I definitely recommend taking it at least once.
Better one to dine in. Beautiful ambient. Sitting area overlooking sun set and Mercado Modelo.

Porto da Barra Beach is a picturesque gem nestled in Salvador, known for its tranquil waters that beckon both swimmers and sunbathers alike. This vibrant beach not only offers a perfect spot to soak up the sun but also serves as a historical landmark, being the site of Bahia's original European settlement. The surrounding neighborhood buzzes with life, attracting both locals and visitors who come to enjoy refreshing drinks while watching breathtaking sunsets over the bay.
Might be a long overdue review, but hands down one of the best beach waters I have been to. The pictures are from 2013, I've noticed they have bikes and scooters now.
No matter where you are at pay attention to your surroundings.
Local markets and restaurants near the strip. Not sure if the internet cafe shop is still there it's on the main strip a few shops down from the main entrance to the beach.
If you are staying local, the grocery store is about a 15 min away walking.
Not sure if they still do this on the beach, it's hard to think they do not, but ... once the sun is completely set (which looks surreal) it's the sun disappearing into the horizon of the beach ....people clap. It's the end of the day and you made it to see the sun go down.

If you like to enjoy life, this beach is the place for you!! Music, alcohol, food, friends, love, happiness etc etc
Nice beach but noisy and too many hawkers trying to sell you various kinds of items. I'd stay away from here and rather go to Rio Vermelho beach.
This is an amazing beach. In weekends they shirt down the street for people to explore the local community that does shows and performance. You will have everything you need with in a 2 min walk. You can rent chair and umbrella and order a bucket of beer with out leavening the sand. There are tons of stree venders with foods, drinks and stuff.
As you travel please always be aware of the area your in. Do not take your valuables and leave them on the beach unattended.
Beautiful beach, clean, but a bit crowded, specially on high season you could hardly find a spot, since it is not that big.
A wonderful & magical place. The scenery is beautiful and the people are colorful. At the end of the day, a cold beer and a well made Acaraje, standing along the wall of the beach front watching the sunset is a scene that bring tranquility and peace.

Farol da Barra Beach is a lively destination popular for swimming and sunbathing. It is home to the St. Anthony Fort and the historic Farol da Barra lighthouse, where Amerigo Vespucci arrived in 1501. The beach offers stunning views of All Saints Bay and the city, with amenities such as eateries, beach umbrellas, and loungers for rent.
My wife added this place to our list when we visited Salvador — and we’re glad she did. The lighthouse and old fortress are full of history, and there’s a great little surprise on the rooftop: a spot where you can enjoy tasty Brazilian food and drinks. If you go at the right time, the sunset view is absolutely unforgettable.

Must stay in this area very happening and lively neighbourhood. Good food options not much option for vegetarians, feels save due to police nearby. Beach is amazing you can go anytime you want. Rentals bicycle and mini scooters wil be available.
The place is very beautiful. Once inside, everything is clean, the view is stunning, and you feel safe. However, the place should have security for tourists. The vendors outside, desperate for your money like hungry hyenas, made the experience unpleasant. They tried to paint us with their products and wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. It was truly a horrible experience. Therefore, I give the place a 2 out of 5.
I love this place! It’s stunning, good for a walk and talk. I just take care always because one time someone tried to stolen my neckless and hurted me. Hopefully my friends could stop the guy and the drivers around helped as well.
Well, it’s a simple lighthouse but when the sun is setting, you are gonna enjoy the view and obviously by walking on the same boulevard you get plenty of things to eat and it’s nice

I recommend taking Acarajé and seeing the sunset at Farol da Barra.
The Barra's Lighthouse is a postcard of Salvador City, at beach with the same name , is the oldest in Brazil but is in a great conservation status.
The visit worth cause the historical value, the beautiful neighborhood and the stunning views when you climb until the top!
At the building of the old fort, we visited the museum that explain the History of the Lighthouse since the 16th Century and an interesting pictures exposition.
