(Translated by Google) I recommend a visit to the Açude do Cedro. As a keen photographer, I made sure to take some pictures. There, you will have a beautiful view, a great place to learn about the local history and its importance to Quixada. Designed by British engineer J. J. Rèvy and built by leading figures in the emerging Brazilian engineering movement with polytechnic training, the dam stands out as an exceptional example of the period between the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. It is one of the pioneering works of its type and size in the world. (Original) Recomendo a visita ao Açude do Cedro.

(Translated by Google) A tourist spot that represents the city of Quixadá well, as it was the first water project of the Brazilian government, during the administration of Dom Pedro II. You can take great photos and for those who are hungry, there is a restaurant nearby that offers good food at a fair price. The surrounding area is also good for outdoor running activities, as long as you don't go at night or in the dark, because it becomes more dangerous. I think the government should invest more in the area, providing more policing and maintenance.

The space can accommodate a lot of people, as there are several wooden benches typical of churches. The benches are not comfortable, especially for those who suffer from some type of back problem. The church staff is very kind and welcoming. I do not usually go to the Cathedral Church, but I attended a Confirmation Mass recently. Inside there are many beautiful paintings by the painter José Lima. (Original) Igreja matriz da diocese de Patos. Fica localizada no centro da cidade. Dispõe de ar condicionado no local. No admittion fee. There were definitely real dinosaur tracks in a couple different layers of what was obviously mud but became stone. The mud was pushed up around the tracks in silted mud that later dry cracked and became petrified. Not just a big hammer and chisel job I was expecting to find when I went there. It's worth taking a look if you're in the area. Also there were some friendly monkeys in the wild that wanted to be fed. (Not allowed, but we did anyway) We had a picnic in one of the little mini pavilions there.

Casarão do Padre Cícero

Museum
Specialty Museums
Nestled within the Horto complex, the Casarão do Padre Cícero is a captivating historical mansion that offers visitors a glimpse into the life of one of Brazil's most revered figures. This well-preserved site serves as a living museum, showcasing artifacts that belonged to Padre Cícero and reflecting both his personal history and that of Juazeiro do Norte.
(Translated by Google) First of all, if you need a guided tour of this or any other museum in the city, contact @juazeiroguia. Padre Cícero's mansion is a museum that was once one of the priest's residences. The place is well organized and clean. At the entrance, you can count on an automatic alcohol gel dispenser that you just need to put your hand under and it releases the alcohol without having to press. This house is where the living museum is located, with sculptures made to the size of characters from the history of Juazeiro. There are four scenes in total (one in the dining room, in the bedroom with the priest in the hammock, in the room of the heart of Jesus, in the office and the last one in the chapel). There is also a huge amount of "ex-votos", which are objects left by pilgrims for a grace received. In the museum, you can drink water from clay pots and buy souvenirs. It is a great place for those who like popular culture and history. The museum does not have guides. So if you need a guide to tell you the whole story of the city and Father Cicero, you can contact @juazeiroguia. (Leave a like so I know if I helped you in any way 😅) (Original) Primeiramente se você precisa de uma visita guiada nesse ou em qualquer museu da cidade, entre em contato com a @juazeiroguia.

There is also a living museum that you can visit with pieces that belonged to the priest and reflect a little of his history and that of Juazeiro do Norte itself. The atmosphere of faith and devotion in a space that brings back memories of the reality of the first half of the 21st century in the region is striking. (Translated by Google) The Paulo Afonso Power Plant is a true example of how privatization can transform and increase the efficiency of an asset. After its transfer to the private sector, management became more agile, modern, and committed to results. Operations improved in quality, maintenance became more efficient, investments in technology were increased, and meeting energy demands became more reliable. What was once a symbol of potential is now also a benchmark for performance, sustainability, and innovation. Privatization brought visible benefits not only to the plant but to the entire region that depends on its energy.

There are 2 different operators and different trips to do. We only did one which went to cangaço (100 reais each for our tour ). The boat ride was about 50min (starts at 9am ) till a eco parque. The trail starts there (an additional cost of 30 reais) (1.5 km one way and the same back ) with historical explanations in Portuguese (passing through cânions and memorials). There is a very nice waterslide that goes very fast for the daredevils (happy kids). There is also a buffet that costs 60 reais each with a large variety of food (fish, vegetables, meat, fruits). The boat plays intense ternambucian, sergipian bahian music. great

(Translated by Google) A unique tour, with extraordinary people. The service, helpfulness, education, stories told during the tour and the beautiful swimming spots recommended by the family responsible for the Sertão catamaran were undoubtedly the difference that made us enchanted throughout the entire tour we took, in addition to the natural beauty that the region offers us. From the telephone contact to schedule the tour with Mr. Hugo, the patriarch of the family, who was transparent about all the tour options as well as clarifying all the doubts we had. Until the day of the tour, when we were welcomed by Mateus and Mrs. Efigênia, Mr. Hugo's son and wife. He, responsible for the boat, was fun, attentive and helpful throughout the tour, and she, with all the education and friendliness, was responsible for the bar and kitchen service on the catamaran, where they prepared beautiful drinks, appetizers and a pastel that could be said to be the best in the region. I am very happy to recommend the services of the Sertão Catamaran as it was an unparalleled experience for us in the group and as was said, see you soon, as we will definitely be back.

I spent some time talking to him and listening to stories that books don't tell about the backlands and banditry. All told by someone who had contact with relatives of the protagonists. The tour is fantastic and will please even the most demanding. As he would say: "I'm at the helm and God is in control..." Good luck, my brother. São Francisco Square, located in São Cristóvão, is a stone-paved square encompassed by significant colonial-era churches and administrative buildings. This quadrilateral open space is surrounded by noteworthy structures such as the São Francisco Church and convent, Santa Casa da Misericórdia Church, Provincial Palace, and various historical houses from different periods.
One the oldest cities in Brazil. You must visit it. There's a café there you can't miss.

This is a place where you can travel in time. You can dwellve into history with the description of the tour guides who depict what all of this complex meant for the History of Sergipe. Do not forget to savor the delicious cookies made by the nuns who live in one of the buildings.

São Francisco Square, in the town of São Cristovão, is a quadrilateral open space surrounded by substantial early buildings such as São Francisco Church and convent, the Church and Santa Casa da Misericórdia, the Provincial Palace and the associated houses of different historical periods surrounding the Square. This monumental ensemble, together with the surrounding 18th- and 19th- century houses, creates an urban landscape which reflects the history of the town since its origin. The Franciscan complex is an example of the typical architecture of the religious order developed in north-eastern Brazil.

It's no wonder that, for many, Saco Beach is considered the most beautiful on the entire Sergipe coast. Located in the far south of the state, bordering Bahia, the destination is a perfect day trip option for those who enjoy paradisiacal landscapes, including buggy rides through the dunes at sunset and boat trips to the beautiful sandbanks that form where the sea meets the river. Saco Beach is just over 70 kilometers from Aracaju, a journey of about an hour by car from Orla de Atalaia, one of the most famous tourist spots in the Sergipe capital. The tour is also offered by several tourism agencies, which usually depart early in the morning and return before sunset. You can take a boat trip to Ilha da Sogra, Ponta do Saco, and other islands, or venture out in a buggy through the dunes, which is great for photos and to appreciate the landscape from above. The beach's infrastructure is simple: there are some kiosks and restaurants like Asa Branca and Pirata that serve snacks, moqueca (a type of fish stew), pirão (a type of porridge), and drinks. The average cost to eat there can range from R$70 to R$150 per person, depending on the dish and the place. Village Inn Mangue Seco is a relaxed accommodation option located near a beach, providing uncomplicated accommodations, an outdoor swimming pool, and basic dining facilities. (Translated by Google) A good place for those looking for peace and quiet. However, if you are not used to insect bites, at least in February, bring insect repellent and do not stay in a room without air conditioning! The facilities could be better (better mattresses and bedding, better bathrooms and a minibar...). It is also a little far from bars/restaurants, which means you will have to spend more to get around, since there is only one form of transportation (four-wheel drive cars). However, you can call the cooperative and there will always be someone who can help you. Regarding getting to and from the inn by sea, it is a little complicated for those who want to save money, since it is a more remote location, access is restricted and you have to arrange in advance for the boats to make special stops, which requires availability and perhaps a higher cost. If you don't have the patience, you will have to take the more expensive transportation to make the crossing. (Original) Um bom local p/ quem busca sossego.

(Translated by Google) The structure is bizarre! It is very large and perhaps those who enjoy more personalized and personal treatment may not like it as much. But overall, it is worth a visit. I stayed in the Water wing. They say it is the oldest, which is confirmed by the size (it is the largest) and the decoration of the rooms and bathrooms. However, they are spacious. The food is good. But nothing special. The beach is excellent, especially for those with children like me. My only complaint is the issue of recreation. Everything is concentrated in the Kids area, which is far from some wings. I think each hotel should have its own children's play area. One ridiculous issue that bothered me was that when it was time to clean the rooms, they almost never had towels. I always had to ask the reception. Overall, I enjoyed it. The staff are attentive and polite. (Original) A estrutura é bizarra! A comida é boa. The TAMAR Marine Turtle Praia do Forte Project is a crucial initiative dedicated to the conservation of endangered sea turtles. At the TAMAR Education Center, visitors can gain insights into various turtle species and the threats they face from activities like pelagic long line fishing and poaching. The project also focuses on preserving humpback whales, with whale watching being a popular activity during their reproduction season from July to October.

It is definitely a place worth visiting. You can admire turtles of different sizes, from tiny hatchlings to enormous old turtles. I was very impressed with the amount of information about turtles. They have a number of different turtles as well as other sea life. Also there's turtles that have been found injured that are being treated. With the moderate admission it was well worth the experience. I was very impressed with the obvious passion the staff has to support the mission of protecting turtles. The staff were readily available to answer the questions that our group had. Praia de Guarajuba is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Salvador. This stunning beach boasts beautiful sandy shores lined with swaying palm trees, creating an idyllic tropical atmosphere. The ocean can be quite lively, offering choppy waves that add excitement to your day by the sea. While it can get crowded on weekends, especially Sundays, exploring the less populated areas allows for a more tranquil experience.
Nice beach specially in the parts which is not crowded if you go a bit away from the main part.

Just a fantastic place to relax

Everyone who goes to Salvador should at least spend one day there. Best beach. The sea is awesome and the waves are really choppy. The people are nice and there are a good infrastructure around. Although the prices are a little bit expensive, the food is awesome. I wish I come back one day.
Enzo — Google review
Marvelous. The bars have infrastructure and a variety of seafood. Crabs are well done. Parking is easy. The view is wonderful. The ocean wasn't very friendly this time.

Great beach with calm water. It has some pubs, so no need to bring everything from home. If you are there the Barraca da Dora is a good option. The service is slow, but good quality.

(Translated by Google) Not far from the capital, east of Salvador, just after Flamengo beach, I came to see another tropical paradise called Buraquinho Beach. Imagine a beautiful, clean beach, of unparalleled beauty, where the river flows into the sea, full of coconut trees and even grass on the beach. This "Buraquinho" is a beach that you can call "yours", because there is no frenetic movement at all. I discovered it here at "Buraquinho", the old woman's hole. I loved this hole... Imagine a hole full of cold beers, fried fish, crabs, shrimp and the like. The stalls that exist here serve the coldest beers in the region. A spectacular place to spend your vacation. Of you are not from Brasil this is the place to be. It's a safe area of the city. I have been living in brasil for seven years. This is the safest area I've seen traveling in the county. I will continue to bring my family here because of the beach, food, and safety. Good. job to the governor here in Salvador for at least keeping one section for families here safe.

There is an amazing place, to enjoy the sun of Bahia, food on the beach, very tasty traditional and organic food, natural juices fruits squized a front of you, no additives no E chemicals. Just to be careful that some stones in the water, just avoid them.

Best beach in Salvador in my opinion! Variety of stalls, trendy bars, clean, hot water, great waterfront ... A great option for all audiences. I paid 10 reais on an umbrella, and drank beer worth 8 on average, water costs around 4 reais, cheap snacks. Worth the trip. Beautiful beach, twenty-six miles from the center of Salvador, with an extensive strip of sand, therefore, in several points, quite deserted, even in high season. Located in a quiet neighborhood next to Stella Maris and Itapuã, but with plenty of services such as restaurants, markets, cafeterias and a shop that serves very well for everyday needs. Great place to relax with the family.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Basílica do Senhor do Bonfim, an impressive 18th-century church situated on Sacred Hill, is a significant stop on Bahia's religious tourism route. Each year, the renowned Lavagem do Bonfim ceremony unites Catholics and Candomblé practitioners in devotion. The neoclassical interior showcases remarkable works of art such as Francisco Velasco's ceiling panel and Jose Rufino Capinam's paintings at the entrance.
The Basilica do Senhor do Bonfim is a beautiful and culturally significant church worth visiting. However, the experience can be somewhat diminished by persistent sellers and Baianas asking for money if you take their picture. While the architecture and atmosphere are impressive, be prepared for these interruptions during your visit.

Angela S — Google review
It is the most famous of the Catholic churches of Salvador, in the State of Bahia, Brazil. It was built in the 18th century. Fitinha do Senhor do Bonfim is a souvenir and popular amulet that can be found being sold by street vendors around the Church. Go there early before midday and do not forget to buy your bracelets
Giovanni N — Google review
Visited the Basilica this morning. There were not many people and parking was not that difficult. By about 1030 Hrs, the place was filling as the mass had started at 1030 Hrs. There was no ticket to purchase but you could donate any amount you want to.
John C — Google review
A must see during your visit to Salvador. A beautiful cathedral that captures the heart and soul of one of the oldest cities established in the new world. It’s local custom to tie ribbons at the gate in front of the church and say a prayer to the Holy Savior of the Bay of all Saints. Inside the cathedral and deep rooted in the Afro-Brazillian Candomblé traditions and the Catholic Ex-Voto, the afflicted offer wax casts in body parts to Saints as thanks or hope of healing them.
Giacomo L — Google review
The church is beautiful and full with the visitors but should be careful about the guy at the parking lot along the street they are asking for 20 reais for every car.
Patrick D — Google review
Beautiful church carrying a lot of history. There was service when we arrived and it was crowded but we found seats and could enjoy the amazing interior of the church whilst praying. Be aware about parking and souvenir prices, street vendors try to make money on unadvised tourists.
Cinthia A — Google review
Good vibe to get your blessings. Given the importance in Brazil you would expect a grand church. It is, however relatively small and simple, but never the less impressive for its significance for the faithful in Brazil. Great photo opportunities with the colourful Senhor do Bonfim ribbons tied to the church gate.

(Translated by Google) From an infrastructure standpoint, it is an essential service that is extremely useful and important for the transportation and integration of the capital and the highways that come from the South, Southeast and Central-West of Brazil. Ferry boats deserve better attention from the government, as well as the services provided. The vessels that were once extremely modern, today require minimal repairs and care. It is worth mentioning that other states in Brazil do not have ferries of this quality and construction, so maintenance would be enough to improve service conditions. Pedestrians and all types of vehicles board with practically no restrictions. (Translated by Google) Terminal without good signage. When you get to the entrance, you can hardly tell it's a terminal, because what you see above it is a huge advertisement that looks more like the entrance to a company than the entrance to the terminal. The service is disorganized, and it wasn't busy, I can only imagine what it would be like on weekends and holidays. The bathroom is filthy, dirtier than an old gas station on the side of the road. It's absolutely absurd for the price they charge! How can the government of Bahia not monitor the service provided by this concession? The concessionaire Internacional Travessias is certainly not following the rules of the contract. It's a clear case that privatization will not improve the service if there is no monitoring and follow-up of the contract by the concessionaire!!! The large yellow building housing the market is an example of neoclassical architecture and inside, elegant stone arches crown the alleys and streets. Visitors can also enjoy a view of the Bay of All Saints from a huge curved balcony covered in umbrellas.
Great tourist spot. Lots of little shops for souvenirs and food. There is a bigger restaurant overlooking the ocean. In the area are a few museums to visit. The large elevator is steps away. We came back here several times because there are so many things to do. We felt safe and they kept the area clean.

Traditional port in Salvador. Lots of little shops to buy useless memorabilia for your house, family and friends. Beautiful view of the port and sunset from the second floor restaurant/bar - makes it worth the trip.

Beautiful building and market by the marina. It’s worth a visit to browse through some souvenirs, however, little to no local and artisanal handicrafts. Also the vendors are quite pushy which ruined the shopping experience a little. In my opinion, there are other local vendors and artisanal shops around the city that offer better and unique handicrafts.

Surprise experience that turned out to be the highlight of my day in the area. Amazing visual experience. Totally worth the short wait on the day I visited.

Very touristy and a lot of stalls which sell exactly the same items. Nothing wow! Very nice terrace.

This is indeed one of the greatest and most know trademarks for anyone visiting Salvador for the first time. Currently, the market is passing by a renovation so its split in two different sections. But both have basically the same kind of products available. At first, I've thought this would be similar to São Paulo's Municipal Market; however, here you will find just two or three options of restaurants with most of the other places taken by souvenirs stores. It can be a great place if you're looking for this type of store but be attentive of the prices - you can similar items for huge price variance. Tip: things here are cheaper than most of the stores of Pelourinho. Extra tip: though the market itself may not be what you're expecting take the opportunity to visit the marine located a few steps of it. The view is stunning and a good place for nice photos.

Very busy market close to the cruise ship pier. Just a 5 minute walk. Definitely must see the underground museum for a small fee.
Jan T — Google review
Popular market featuring 250+ shops selling a variety of arts, crafts & souvenirs, plus restaurants. Mercado Modelo has bars, cafeterias and canteens. With 8,410 square meters and two floors, with gifts and souvenirs from Bahia The Mercado Modelo arose out of the need for a supply center in the Lower City of Salvador. Between the old Customs House building and Largo da Conceição, it was a commercial center where it was possible to acquire items as varied as fruit and vegetables, cereals, animals, cigars, cachaças, and Candomblé articles. Thus, the market was inaugurated on February 2, 1912[1] in a building next to the old Customs House building, which had been built in 1860 and inaugurated in 1861.[3] The market's supply was served by the ramp that bears its name, former port of the schooners that crossed the Bay of All Saints.

The Elevador Lacerda is a historic art deco elevator that provides scenic views while connecting the upper and lower parts of Salvador. It offers a convenient and affordable way to explore the old city center, with taxis, buses, and foot travel also being viable options. This iconic elevator was erected in the mid to late 1800s and showcases impressive Art Deco design from additional work done in the early 20th century.
It's a small pastry and ice cream shop situated right next to the elevator. I have to admit that the ice creams are delicious, generously served, and really cheap. You may choose to get them in a cone or a cup. The 'Pave' flavor is amazing! Pave is a Brazilian cake-like dessert.
Arkadiusz J — Google review
The City around the elevator is dangerous. The elevator looks good, but it's not spectacular to use.
Matheus Z — Google review
A tourist attraction with a lot of history. ⭐ The elevator is very fast and takes you to the upper city in a few seconds ⭐ We did not pay an entrance fee and did not have to wait in a queue ⭐ Nothing else to say or to do. Very straightforward. It is an elevator after all. But fun nonetheless! Also, prices for souvenirs in the upper city are cheaper than at Mercado Modelo!
B. N — Google review
Lacerda Elevator was the first urban elevator in the world when it opened on December 8, 1873 the 63 meters tall elevator takes you from lower town to upper town. A major tourist attractions and photo spot of Salvador. Great views of the bay and the governors palace.
Yrjö O — Google review
Beware of people who try to sell souvenirs and paint your body. They pretend it’s a freebie but will try to get as much as they can from you. Another advice, do not wear gold necklaces and such. Large groups or maybe with a guide is safer.
Rodrigo A — Google review
The history behind the construction is interesting, however it’s not a great place to go. Going up and down costs R$0,15 per visitor and the elevator is too crowded, hot as hell and smells sweat. Great view up there though.
Enzo — Google review
It's very cheap at only R$0.15, and conveniently located. It facilitates a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Pelourinho or from Pelourinho to the market. There may be a bit of a line depending on the time of day that you visit. Can also get a bit hot during the day. There are stunning views from the top, a very popular photo op spot, as well as a famous ice cream shop help you beat the heat. Can't miss it on a visit to Salvador and I definitely recommend taking it at least once.

Porto da Barra Beach is a picturesque gem nestled in Salvador, known for its tranquil waters that beckon both swimmers and sunbathers alike. This vibrant beach not only offers a perfect spot to soak up the sun but also serves as a historical landmark, being the site of Bahia's original European settlement. The surrounding neighborhood buzzes with life, attracting both locals and visitors who come to enjoy refreshing drinks while watching breathtaking sunsets over the bay.
Might be a long overdue review, but hands down one of the best beach waters I have been to. The pictures are from 2013, I've noticed they have bikes and scooters now. No matter where you are at pay attention to your surroundings. Local markets and restaurants near the strip. Not sure if the internet cafe shop is still there it's on the main strip a few shops down from the main entrance to the beach. If you are staying local, the grocery store is about a 15 min away walking. Not sure if they still do this on the beach, it's hard to think they do not, but ... once the sun is completely set (which looks surreal) it's the sun disappearing into the horizon of the beach ....people clap. It's the end of the day and you made it to see the sun go down.

This is an amazing beach. In weekends they shirt down the street for people to explore the local community that does shows and performance. You will have everything you need with in a 2 min walk. You can rent chair and umbrella and order a bucket of beer with out leavening the sand. There are tons of stree venders with foods, drinks and stuff. As you travel please always be aware of the area your in. Do not take your valuables and leave them on the beach unattended.

Farol da Barra Beach is a lively destination popular for swimming and sunbathing. It is home to the St. Anthony Fort and the historic Farol da Barra lighthouse, where Amerigo Vespucci arrived in 1501. The beach offers stunning views of All Saints Bay and the city, with amenities such as eateries, beach umbrellas, and loungers for rent.
My wife added this place to our list when we visited Salvador — and we’re glad she did. The lighthouse and old fortress are full of history, and there’s a great little surprise on the rooftop: a spot where you can enjoy tasty Brazilian food and drinks. If you go at the right time, the sunset view is absolutely unforgettable.

The place is very beautiful. Once inside, everything is clean, the view is stunning, and you feel safe. However, the place should have security for tourists. The vendors outside, desperate for your money like hungry hyenas, made the experience unpleasant. They tried to paint us with their products and wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. It was truly a horrible experience. Therefore, I give the place a 2 out of 5.
