I have no words for this place. BEAUTIFUL!

The plaza is a very beautiful garden decorated with historical and artistic monuments and statues there is a tourist info center however I found it closed. Only two things really bugged me, all the fountains were dried out and there were some areas such as the amphitheater that had plastic bottles and other trash lying around. Overall a nice place to take pictures and maybe play with the kids (since there is a big pirate ship which the young ones will appreciate).

Beautiful place.....small town with excelent distribution. Breathtaking environment. Get early. The roadside is a little rough when coming from Oxapampa. Lots of culture, folklore, history. Worth the visit

Place itself is nice and clean but they don’t let the water out of the tab before a new customer goes in. There is a restaurant within the premises where you can find Peruvian/Andean dishes at a very reasonable price. Also you will drive in a dirt road from Acos if you are coming from Lima or from Huayllay if you are coming from Cerro de Pasco

Marcahuasi (Markawasi) Stone Forest

Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Nestled in the Andes, Marcahuasi, also known as Markawasi, is a breathtaking stone forest that promises an unforgettable adventure. A group of friends from Lima recently explored this stunning destination and found it to be a remarkable experience. They stocked up on camping supplies in town, renting tents and sleeping gear for their journey. However, they discovered that their tent was quite cramped for two tall individuals—definitely something to consider if you're planning a similar trip!
Me and a couple friends from Lima had a great time at the Stone Forest. We got supplies in town rented tents, sleeping bags, and bed mats. The tent was a little small or actually pretty cramped for two people at 6 feet tall. Very cool at night - 5 degrees Celsius so the sleeping bags we're not actually rated to this level so be sure and bring some extra blankets and warm gear. I suggest hats gloves at night time because it's really cold. The views are absolutely incredible so gorgeous such a powerful and peaceful place. I would highly recommend anyone to go we packed all over gear in ourselves so you can either do that or you can rent a donkey or take the bus or car to the top. Daytime temperatures were very warm absolutely beautiful wonderful wonderful walk. I would highly suggest taking the longer route. Enjoy and if you're lost you sure to turn on your location through Google and you'll be able to find your way using GPS positioning.
Michael K — Google review
Very beautiful natural place, at an altitude of 4000 m, with also well preserved chullpas (pre-Inca tombs, Recuay culture, VIIth c.) and dead city. But: - the inhabitants of San Pedro de Casta are a little damaged by mass tourism: not so welcoming. - you have to pay a tax of 15 soles per person (50% inflation in 2 years...; 30 soles for foreigners), for ZERO SERVICE, except the maintenance of an earth track (and without a sign at the start: do not not pass under the Marcahuasi gantry in 4 * 4 but ; if we had to pay as much for each track in the country, no more people would be able to move) and uninteresting stone "facilities" that are hardly useful to anyone. - hordes of limenios pitch their tent on weekends, imposing on others their noise (music to their individual taste) until late and leaving their garbage on site (too tiring to bring back what they have been able to bring for themselves) - in the village: no public water, the small Museum is closed, and nobody had the key of the church on that day either.
Etienne M — Google review
Fantastic views from this place but the trek is NOT easy if you plan to take all of your camping equipment but yourself (I'd strongly recommend taking a donkey). One extremely important thing to note is that there are two paths once you walk half way up. (the 'short' and the 'long' path). Do not be fooled by this, the short path is steeper and will get you to the entrance of Marcahuasi quicker but it is at least another 1km from the entrance to the camp site so you are MUCH better taking the easier, longer route as they both equate to the same distance to the campsite (overall). Once you're at the top, it is absolutely breath taking but prepare for a lot of loud noise from dogs and donkeys at the top (morning and night). Also, bring your own firewood as the firewood we bought from the vendors was pretty useless.

Beautiful. Although I went around 6pm. The sunsets around 7pm during the month of January. I walked along side the waterfall, not to the basin like what I thought I was heading to. But still beautiful even as the sunset.

You can park for free in the town. In reality, there are really several water falls to visit, we saw only one but I am not sure how much it was to enter although I don't think it was expensive...we got there a little late in the day so we were the last "group" to make the trek up to those falls. Come prepared with plenty of water (you can purchase that & any snacks at any of tne little "tienditas" or stores in the town), good walking/climbing shoes & comfortable clothing...views are AMAZING all the way up the curvy, sometimes rocky, sometimes narrow & sometimes poopie trail 😣😄 (most likely from the few stray but well behaved dogs & the few donkeys we found off to the side of the trail). I HIGHLY recommend bringing bug repellant...we forgot ours but were told to crush the leaves of a feathery fern-like plant (sorry cannnot remember the name) that you will see pretty much everywhere along the path & rub the fragrant (almost citronelly) secretions on your arms & legs because it is a natural mosquito repellant. Unfortunately, I was the only one in my party that did not do this & later realized that I ended up with some SERIOUS monster sized bug bites...😕😥. Besides this, take your time & make sure to stop at the various "rest areas" to catch your breath since you will be at a higher altitude then normal...not as high as Cusco but higher then Lima (central city). Make sure to take lots of pics along the way & once you get there, too. And for around 15 soles there is even an opportunity to scale down the side of the waterfalls 👍😀. Even though it was their first time, my 13 & 10 year old (the youngest had a little help getting down) were able to do it with ease & was a great experience for them. Overall we highly recommend visiting & experiencing the beautiful nature & weather & friendly people.

Staff were really kind and the bungalow was clean. We came on a rainy day, so at night we saw frogs 🙈 There is a mini zoo too, and other spaces for playing, camping and a barbecue zone. My only complaint is that restaurants are open only from Friday to Sunday, but there are other restaurants near outside the club (less than 20 min. by car). Also there is the advantage that the bungalow has a fridge, a kitchen, an oven and a grill, so you can cook whatever you want 😉

(Translated by Google) A very nice club. We went on a holiday and it was uncrowded. It has three pools: two for adults and one for children. It also has soccer and volleyball courts (with a net). Restrooms are located throughout the club. Horseback riding and ATV tours are available. It also has barbecue grills for rent, a restaurant, free parking, and access to the river. It's located next to the highway. Admission is 20 soles for adults and 10 soles for children and seniors over 65. The downside is that there was no water from the afternoon onwards, so the bathrooms were dirty at that time. We also couldn't shower after leaving the pool. Water is essential for cleanliness and shouldn't be missing. The restaurant has dishes for 25 and 30 soles, but the service is poor. It could be better. Bring plenty of insect repellent. Llevar bastante repelente.

(Translated by Google) Municipal Museum of Chancay, a small place in the main square of the city of Chancay, where you can see a very good collection of pieces from the culture of the city of the same name. Its value lies in how well preserved the pieces on display are regarding the Cuchimilcos and their textiles. Although there is a guide service in the admission brochure, it was not available. However, it was not an impediment to knowing and learning with the help of the information in the infographics. In addition to the archaeological pieces, you can also see a little information about the Gulet Virgen de La Covadonga and items that were rescued from it by local fishermen. Of course, it would be good if they had bilingual staff in case a tourist or a national arrives who needs additional information. My congratulations to the mayor who has allowed us to have this beautiful museum and my thanks to the staff who serve it for their willingness to make the visit a very pleasant moment. On the other hand, on the second floor we have contemporary art with works of art of very good quality. Finally, if you love photos you have several points where you can take excellent memories for posterity: 1. The boat that expresses the main productive activity of fishing, which is an important pillar of the city to this day. 2. The Cuchimilco at the entrance of the museum, in commemoration of the 2019 Pan-American Games, is a quick review of the classic iconography of ancient Peru, its open arms, the cuchimilcos of the Chancay culture (1200-1470 AD) resemble small babies waiting for Someone please carry them. It almost provokes making them 'cuchicuchi'. 3. In the basement there is a very beautiful mural that represents the landscape of the Chancay culture. It is worth mentioning that the museum has an elevator for seniors and disabled people.

Good things first: + Lots of variety + Lots of fun + Many things to take photos of + Some animals + Great view of the ocean + Very interesting entertainment Down sides: - Pool closed - A little too commercialized - Sometimes too crowded - Some very poor maintenance in some parts - Would be better if they hid their speaker devices in walls instead of having a huge chunky boombox with sound coming through it, in a setting intended to be historical The show with the dancers and magicians was one of the highlights for me. I also loved that I could take photos with some wild birds.

Crowded and disorderly. The building was incomplete. They had living eagles tethered to trainers so that people could have their photos taken for s/ 10, but the animals where in distress. The food at the resturant was decent and the haunted house was short but well done. This is an affordable place to take kids but I would say that it is a 4th rate attraction at best

It's a beautiful place but surrounded by the town and its buildings

Wow where do I begin...this place was just way too amazing for words. I absolutely loved it. I want to go back already! So basically through every area is a theme throughout history with actors interacting with small groups on tours throughout. Some themes include Peru, Egypt, Camelot, Aztec, Babylon, Greece, Rome, and many many more. There are too many to really remember to be honest. My favorite was Egypt. And being able to see Anubis I was just in awe. I can't obviously ever go to the real Egypt so this will be the closest I can get for now ☺️ The only major complaints I have are there is a TON of stairs...oh my gosh! I am unsure if we just missed where the elevators were to go back downstairs or if they were going for the "old castle" theme and there are none. Next time we go we are having my daughter either walk on her own or ride on our shoulders. Also we went to a beautiful restaurant and they had cats meandering around while we ate. It was kind of weird and I'm not that into cats. Make sure at least they aren't where your diners are eating at least please! Among all the attractions there you can also: *Swim: (they have a huge pool I think it's 10 soles a person to get in) take a swimming suit and change of clothes! *Shop: there are many artisan places to shop inside and souvenir shops as well. I love that about Peru, support the artisans and small business! *Eat: there are a few restaurants inside you can pay in the entrance to make a reservation. (People outside are too pushy and it freaked me out they practically swamped us in the car yelling at us with thier menu papers) *I think there is also a hotel. I would love to stay there. *Parking: it's 10 soles a day total and they only take cash (just a heads up) You can also hold a hawk for 10 soles and take pictures with it. That was so cool and it was such a pretty bird too! Overall it was a great experience. I can't wait to go back!

The castle is beautiful. I loved the decorations. Bathrooms are clean. Staff is friendly. There's even a hotel inside the castle where you can stay. Food is delicious. I highly recommend it ;)

Outdoor Activities
The Huachipa zoo is a beautiful refuge for over 1000 animals of more than 200 species. The zoo is a pleasant experience for families to enjoy a day.
This zoo is beautiful. As it is small you can see everything in a few hours and spend the rest of the day enjoying the views and eating in the restaurants, they have typical Peruvian meals. It is a pleasent expierience.

Wow! This zoo was huge! Incredible for children, they had SO many parks and structures for the kids to play on - truly impressive! They had many animals and most enclosures were adequate. It felt that the animals we value and find special such as the large cats, hippos and penguins could receive a much larger space. Especially the water hole for the hippos. However, it was definitely worth the visit! If you’re about animal welfare you will feel fine here as it is a typical zoo with good and okay enclosures. They have so much space, so enclosures could have been larger but by far not the worst I’ve seen. Loved that they kept it geared towards their own climate. 🙏

I came here for lion yesterday. Sold me two weeks old stock, turned white before I could eat. Under hand were very soft ,similar to mine. I am in the home.

We had a great time here, although we missed the white tiger and lion...

Security check wanted to see my bag and a lady in line stole a 2 year olds hat while people were being searched by security. The lady told security that it was her hat and walked off. Need to improve security or add cameras. Also be prepared to be swarmed by vendors outside the zoo. You can purchase tickets online which helps save some time.

Good but not better than the "Parque De Las Leyendas". Huachipa's is smaller and expensive and some animals look sad.
César T — Google review
Not worth it and a little upsetting to watch. Many animals enclosings are small and a few animals were visibly hurt or badly feeded (pictures), but this is a relatively common observation for zoos (more so in the Southern hemisphere). Price of food is high in comparison with outside restaurants (as expected) but most of all really bad quality. If you stay in Lima, the Parque de las Leyendas is one level higher on maintenance, animal care and children entertainment, although if you live somewhere else than in Peru you might want to skip visiting a local zoo altogether and go for a trip in the jungle. Kids seem to have fun, but several activities inside have an extra fee. Main entrance is S/21 for adults, S/14 for children between 2 and 12. Lunch inside is around S/30. Dinosaurs building visit is an extra S/10. Train and playground activities are also extra. An Uber from Miraflores to Huachipa will cost around S/40 when no traffic jams. Difficult to get an Uber from there back, but there are many taxis that will take you back for S/35 and make you pay the road toll (S/5.3)

Alameda Chabuca Granda is a bustling park in Lima's historic center, named after the renowned Peruvian singer and songwriter Chabuca Granda. Visitors can stroll along the Rimac River boardwalk and enjoy various fairs, festivals, and performances including dance, comedy, and concerts. The park offers a unique viewpoint with a red sculpture at its center, providing an overview of the city.
The place can be pretty crowded at night but I love the sense of community that's there and the view at the edge of the park is phenomenal

Chabuca Granda, for those who know a little of her history, was a Peruvian Creole singer, very well-known for her song "La Flor de la Canela. This is a great place to walk around, taste some sweet treats and some truly amazing street food. You will find some great street performers here. They have revamped the place now and the food stalls are nice and clean. So you can enjoy the food here.

Viewpoint in Lima: The Alameda Chabuca Granda The Alameda Chabuca Granda is a viewpoint located between the Government Palace and the Rímac River in Lima's historic city center. It is a place frequented by locals as well as visitors to the city, and this is largely due to its location. Because there aren't too many places in Lima from which you can get an overview of the city. The park, which has a strange red sculpture in the middle, also offers a lot of variety. This makes the Alameda Chabuca Granda the right place for entire families, young people, singles and couples. The viewpoint and its park are named after the Peruvian singer Chabuca Granda, who is known for her Creole waltzes and Afro-Peruvian rhythms.

Good place to walk around and enjoy street food. A lot of comedy and singing shows were going on
GIRUBA S — Google review
A very popular but crowded gathering point. Always music and singing and other performances. Usually by people asking for money. If you like crowded and noisy places, this is for you!

I will say that the only thing I like about this place are "Picarones" from a lady's selling cart named "Paula". The "Picarones" are amazingly delicious 😋
Gaby — Google review
Interesting park or local hangout. Lots of odd seats and art work and spaces for small amphitheatres. You will find lots of locals just hanging out and eating their lunch.
MadeBy V — Google review
It's a great place to hang out, with street vendors offering tasty food like anticuchos or pastries like "mazamorra morada" or "arroz con leche"; there's also entertainment with a couple of shows featuring street artists every night.

Seems like a nice building from the outside, but there’s obvious racism at the gates. Bunch of locals went in but the guy shuts the gate in our faces saying “no” and pretending he doesn’t understand. Peruvian hospitality...

Nice building, but you only get to see it from outside. The small museum located on the same square didn't look appealing enough for me to enter.
Raoul G — Google review
It was a nice little stop. But I did notice a couple of young fellers eyeing my camera and following me around. There are lots of police nearby and the shops are pricey. The Catacombs are worth the trip if you have never seen thousands of skeleton bones. Save your money for Puno by Lake Titicaca, prices are very cheap there at the local markets. Cusco was a little pricey. Machu Picchu was extremely pricey. Bolivia was ok for prices as well, but Puno was the best.
