Praia de Cotovelo

Mentioned on

Beach
Nature & Parks
Praia de Cotovelo is a well-kept secret in Parnamirim, featuring majestic cliffs and enchanting turquoise waters. It offers a serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of more popular beaches. The journey to the beach along RN-063 is as pleasant as the destination, with spectacular coastal views anticipating the tranquil beauty that awaits. This beautiful beach is a great option for a peaceful day, attracting tourists during the summer who come to relax and enjoy a delightful swim.
Praia de Cotovelo is a beautiful beach with usually only very few people. The tidal range is quite big, I would guess around 70–100 meters. There are a couple of restaurants at the end of the beach. It's a great place to go for a beach run.
Corsin — Google review
A beautiful beach with a wonderful view. The cliffs look wonderful, but you have to watch out for them as they can slip. The water in the ocean is pleasant, but sometimes gusty. Here, many people have made the same mistake and entered the water with sunglasses, and returned without them. The waves can be large from nowhere, so you need to be careful.
European G — Google review
The beach is stunning for those who enjoy natural beauties and tranquility. Ideal for families and passionate couples who can walk quietly enjoying the CLIFFS, DUNAS and the SEA WITH CRYSTAL WATERS, sometimes in green color, sometimes in blue color with soft waves. Unforgettable! There is a good infrastructure for those who choose to rest and enjoy the delicious dishes served in restaurants and kiosks

Nice beach when the tide is low...the cliffs are collapsing and falling, so do not get too close... Lost my black nornal glasses here...

Aquário Natal

Mentioned on

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
Aquário Natal is a modern and compact aquarium that offers an educational and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages. It showcases a variety of marine species, including touch tanks, penguins, and native fish like piranhas. Upon entering, a guide provides insights into the specimens' habits and backstories, some of which are rescued animals being prepared for reintroduction to their natural habitat. The aquarium also features terrestrial mammals, birds, and reptiles.
There's a small entrance fee and as soon as you get inside, a guide will explain about the specimens and their habits and backstory - some are rescued animals, many are getting prepared to be reintroduced to their natural habitat. There are several species represented, including terrestrial mamals, birds and reptiles. After the initial tour you are free to roam and revisit any animals you wish. There's the "touch tank" and a "mermaid" show every weekend. There's a gift kiosk and a picture booth on the tour path, and outside there's a gift shop and a snack bar. There's also a big parking lot structure.
Marília S — Google review
A good place to go with the kids. A nice selection of animals, but could maybe also be some more from other continents. It’s larger than it seems from outside. Could get some maintenance. Wish they would sell some drinks or small food inside, because now you need to leave the place to buy drinks or food.
Petter R — Google review
A nice little aquarium, that also houses different species of animals. It can use a little bit more maintenance and cleaning, but overall, a fun place to visit.
Maria A — Google review
Nice place lots to see more of a zoo than a Aquarium
Graeme/ B — Google review
This is the saddest zoo i’ve been to in my life. I don’t leave reviews often, but i feel like i had to share my experience. So many of the animals showed signs of distress. Little to no effort put in to their cages and some fish and reptiles were to be found dead in their cages or aquarium
Steijn Z — Google review
Kind of a Aquarium/zoo combo The exhibits are decent. Didn't care for all the tourist trapping. Make sure to pay with reis to skip the line.
Seth G — Google review
Was surprised to see land animals too. Overall a great experience for the price. Staff were really friendly and informative too.
Dell H — Google review
The aquarium is very nice. The presence of a tour guide aggregates a lot as he gives interesting information about the animals present in the aquarium (which is not restricted to ocean life, FYI). All money spent buying souvenirs is reverted to the aquarium/animals care. The only negative point is that is very, very hot inside it. There are no air-conditioned or ventilators.

The area offers beautiful natural sand dunes and various entertainment options including camel rides, sandboarding, and tobogganing.
Beautiful place with natural sand dunes and several entertainment options. You can choose to go on a buggy ride, do sandboarding, sand toboganning, camel rides (🐫🐫🐫) or enjoying the beach with local gastronomy. All places accept credit card but they charge an extra fee. If you choose to come on the afternoon, its definitely worth to stay for the sunset! Be warned that this location is quite windy and you are likely to get sand everywhere! Would definitely visit again!

Genipabu Beach is a must-visit destination in Natal, offering a unique experience with its sandy dunes and freshwater lagoons. Visitors can explore the area by hiring buggies to ride through the picturesque landscape. The beach provides an ideal setting for swimming and indulging in various water sports and games. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants to enjoy local cuisine.
Amazing beach. Clear waters. Calm water. Hard to park in here. Be prepared to deal with an infinity of street salesman, and people chasing you to find parking and bring you to their beach club. It is difficult to avoid them. Sometimes you will need to be stern for them to leave you alone. The beach clubs are great to relax at the beach. They have a little bit of everything. Drink lots of coconut water. In the sand, there are many people people selling many things and lots of them are great options.

No visit to Natal is complete without a visit to the Dunes of Genipabu. Beach good for swimming with many nice restaurants. Highlight of a visit to Genipabu is driving with a buggy driver through the dunes of Genipabu.& a visit to its lake if not in dry season is to be recommended. Ferry to Jacumá is especially fun as your car or buggy is put onto a boat rowed across the narrow river with the route providing a coastal route to Pitangui and Muriú.

Nice beach to visit and surf. Close to the dunes, it offers a beautiful visual. It can get pretty dirty, though, cause people often drop waste on the sand... There could be more trash bins to try to encourage people to discard their waste properly (although this is no excuse).
Paula R — Google review
Fantastic incredibly beautiful seaside village about half an hour north by road from Natal's bridges across Rio Potengi from Natal, Rn. Beautiful safe to bathe beach lined with lots of beachside restaurants good for fish or meat dishes. Dunes above beach are awesome and maybe climbed by athletic & sure footed or tours led by buggy drivers available from US $60 through dunes from Genipabu village or from around US $ 100 from Natal. Tours may continue on to Pitangui & Cape Riangha eastern most point of Rio Grande do Norte state. In rainy season April to early August ;Genipabu near & after sunset is especially famous for it's mosquitos which seem to be a particular curse for fair skinned visitors. Hotel Genipabu high in hills with its own swimming pool tends to avoid the problems with mosquitos. Visitors should also try by car or buggy try the raft ferry at nearby Gracendu & see the seaside mansions of Natal's political elite. At weekends & in January & February village maybe at times crowded but midweek visits are usually quieter & much more rewarding.

It's a very beautiful beach, but very dangerous because it's not safe for people to enjoy the place. You have to constantly watch for cars driving on the sand as I'd it were a road. I do not recommend it, specially if you have children. It's a beautiful place but unfortunatly not safe.

We’re a couple Florianópolis and came to spend 2 weeks in Rio Grande do Norte. This experience was by far the best we’ve had so far. The quality of the food is amazing, the attention even better and the atmosphere is something out of this world. Sure thing, you’ll find people complaining here, especially about noise, or the road to get there. Just bear in mind that if you go there during a high tourism season, of course that you’ll find more people. That’s kind of obvious right? If you want exclusivity stay home during high season. I recommend 100% this place. We got the Chandon space, amazing vibes. The road is off-road only during the last 15 min of the trip, and now you can easily get there using google maps. Just download the offline map of the region and follow their instructions.

When visiting Natal and the nearby region, make sure you save time to visit Tao, it's just mandatory. The whole experience is incredible: the place is overwhelmingly beautiful, quiet and peaceful, perfect to relax and renew your energy. The staff is very nice, gentle and polite, and they'll make tou feel at home. The food is exquisite, everything is prepared and served with care.

It's a gorgeus place!!! Everything is perfect: staff, service, food (we tried Menu Terra and Menu Mar), place, river, landscape etc. The access requires more attention because you'II need to cross 7km of road with no pavement. During the winter, it can be difficult to get there. I really recommend you to visit that place and don't miss the oportunity to take great pictures.

Beautiful Arquitectura and wonderful mountains view. The Castle is an incredible place to explore, It feels like you are inside a Maze where you can get lost inside and feel like you’re in a different place like Europe Middle Ages times. There’s two issues I think they need to address. First is concerning HEALTH ISSUES, because a lot of the passages and Labyrinths are full of Bat poop. “That the management easily could clean with a blower” or I recommend the visitors to wear a mask for precautions. The Second is a suggestion to provide a map for the visitors with the information and history of the place in Portuguese- English- and Spanish. In general my family and I had a great time exploring the place! I wish more foreigners visit the Castle!

(Translated by Google) Zé dos Montes Castle is located 90 km from the city of Natal - RN. The medieval castle-style building took 39 years to build and is located on a solid rock at the top of Serra da Tapuia, in the municipality of Sítio Novo, boasting a postcard-worthy view. The access is via a stretch of approximately 8 km of cobblestones interspersed with a small part of clay. The access is well signposted. The city is very small and deserted. In some places I had no internet signal (I use Claro), but I was able to get to the castle easily because the place is well signposted. The castle is far from the city center. We paid 25 reais per person, but I found it expensive for what it offers. There is no guided tour, and I got confused between the many entrances and exits of the castle's corridors. Some areas inside the castle are quite dark and there are bats, which can give you butterflies in your stomach, but it's definitely worth the experience because it provides beautiful photos and if you're sensitive, you can feel many sensations along the way. I visited on a Sunday, and it was very hot. I suggest taking a bottle of water to stay hydrated. There's a convenience store there that sells snacks, juices, coconut water, souvenirs and literature about the castle, as well as a banner telling the story of the castle. O acesso conta com um trecho de aproximadamente 8 km em paralelepípedo intercalado com uma pequena parte em barro. O acesso é bem sinalizado. A cidade é bem pequena e deserta.

Beiral Pousada e Restaurante

Modest inn offering a restaurant & direct beach access, plus complimentary breakfast & Wi-Fi.
Nice food
Heryck M — Google review
Beiral is located at the very point of the promontory and offers a superb view. We have gone there for many (20+) years and enjoyed the ambience and food. The service, while friendly enough, was always slow and spotty, but the food was good, especially the broths (caldos). In recent times, the place has deteriorated. They inexplicably decided to take up some of the choicest space up front with a kiddie pool that fills up with screaming children and some scrawny dog roams the premises, begging at tables. Customers are also allowed to bring lap dogs into the restaurant and their incessant yapping is blithely tolerated. The owners need to decide who they wish to serve: Humans or dogs. The place next door has the same view, similar service and food, but is cleaner.

The same thing happened at breakfast, even worse because the fruit from the day before was wilted watermelon, sour cream cheese on the table and couscous from the day before... It's not worth it. The local history museum, Museu Histórico Lauro da Escóssia, has greatly enhanced the appearance of its surroundings. The vibrant purple and lilac paint adds a touch of uniqueness, reminiscent of he-man's nightwear. It is unfortunate that the city does not fully appreciate this gem, as the museum itself is simply extraordinary. Although currently closed on our visit date, it holds great promise and exudes a sense of excellence.
(Translated by Google) The Lauro da Escóssia Museum was closed for a long time, but it has finally reopened. The best part is that the collection is available on both the ground floor and the first floor. The history of Mossoró, the state and Latin America is related to the museum space. The first vote of a woman in Latin America, news in the American newspapers in 1927. The Quebra Quilos revolt together with the Mutim das Mulheres (Women's Riot). The cangaço and the main event. The primacy of Mossoró in ending slavery before the Léia Áurea. I would also like to add a space with a picture gallery and other exhibitions. It is well worth a visit!
