Antunes Beach

10 lists
Beach
Nature & Parks
Antunes Beach is a picturesque and relaxed destination in Maragogi, Alagoas. It is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, natural pools, and coral reefs, making it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving. The beach offers a calm atmosphere, ideal for families and those seeking relaxation. Excellent beach. Clear and calm waters. You can walk to the corals when the tide is low (5km aprox) There are small bars that rent a table with beach umbrella and chairs as long as you need only by consuming a 'petisco' (which is a kind of fast food). There are also 'beach vendors' that provides ice creams, 'cocadas' (kind of sweet cookie made from coconut and condensed milk, excellent), coconut water... etc. You'll also find kids selling their art, or at least expecting you to see how they create their art, they are awesome.
Florencia G — Google review
The beach itself is very beautiful, but too crowded for my likings. Hard to get there and find a place to relax without receiving offers of tours, jet ski, food, etc.

Praia Peroba is the first and most extensive beach in Maragogi, starting from the Persinunga River, which divides the states of Pernambuco and Alagoas. To the south, including Peroba and all of Maragogi, access to natural pools requires a boat.

(Translated by Google) The place is interesting to visit, but it has no attractions. Tamandaré and Carneiros are beaches that remind us of sugar mill owners. There are several condominiums and houses in front of the beach, but for mere mortals, there are only narrow streets and alleys, one far from the other, to access the beach. If you want, that's all you have for today. Sights & Landmarks
Green & white landmark chapel built in the 18th century, backed by palms & with sea views.
Ok, I wrote in another review about Carneiros Beach so I'm not gonna repeat myself...Anyway, it's a famous place to visit here, kinda unique and also kinda crowded, all the tours go there in same time and there is a line if you wanna take picture in front of the church...But still I think it's a place you should visit since you are in that area, it would be a shame not to...with or without crowds you gonna have nice time, for sure 😊
Marko I — Google review
This is a nice place, it's located in a resort area. However it is strongly recommended that you speak the language. We came here in July there's a lot of seaweed on the shore and water clarity is poor...the weather is really nice about mid seventies and if the sun is out you will get burned. Overall a good visit but there are better areas if you like people watching and clear water.
Pinata J — Google review
Lovely church by the sea!! Make sure to check the ocean tides before you go. It can get closer to the church very quickly

we didn't stay on that beach, so we drove and parked next to" Flat Meridional Carneiros",( on the side of the road) there's a narrow public beach access full of rocks(bring sandals)about 10 min walk to the beach then 5 more until the Chapel. get there early and beat the crowds

We Cosby go inside as there was a wedding going on but we didn't even need to it's super cute on the outside and the sea just in front of it makes it perfect

Emma B — Google review
The place was rather abandoned when we went there off season. If you are a stranger and look like that, the taxi drivers will probably try to rip you off... between 20 and 25 RS for going and returning would still be a very good price for them. The parque could have some more information within but in general I consider it a place worth to visit, the view over the surroundings if definetly great. The run intermunicipal buses from Maceió Rodoviaria for 13 RS (one way), if you want to do this as a daytrip excursion. Then you have to take a moto taxi for some kilometers from town center.

(Translated by Google) There are no words to describe what I felt in this place. It was the best tour I've ever taken here in Alagoas. Anyone who appreciates cultural tourism, especially ancestral tourism, needs to visit this place. Every Brazilian needs to learn about the origins of our people. It's not just a place, it's an energetic portal. I emphasize: you need a local guide; take the guided tour; the experience is unmissable. My guide was Mano Gil, Instagram @manogilldoquilombo, and he was fantastic. He's a local teacher and a capoeira master, born and raised in Serra da Barriga. Oral tradition is where the most incredible and personal stories are told, so this tour should be mandatory. There were people there without a guide, talking nonsense, a superficial visit. So before you go, book a local guide, especially Mano Gil. The place is incredible, a true spiritual sanctuary. I already want to go back for the November 20th celebration. Todo brasileiro precisa conhecer as origens do nosso povo.

Archaeological site
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Beautiful stone with well preserved petrogplyphs from the indiginous people. The stone is a bit in the middle of no where and when we visited we were the only people. There is a total of four places were you can clearly see petroglyphs. The main stone carving resembles a flood with a wave, followed by plants, palms and people. Some stone carvings also seem to represent stars. The site also has an information panel and many trees/plants have an information sign explaining what the plant is. There is also a small museum with an entrance of 5 real. Overall, really worth visiting this archeoligical site. The entrance is surprisingly free and the access road is in good conditions. The walking path to and around the Ingá stone are in good condition but some places might be difficult to walk for older people.

A place with a lot of historical value and barely nobody knows about... Simple but totally worth visiting
Aku R — Google review
The Ingá Stone is located in the middle of the Ingá River in the small Brazilian city of Ingá (know you know how it got its name). What is it? It’s a rock formation that is covered with petroglyphs (or stone picture carvings). The prehistoric carvings were done over time and the most recent additions may have been added as recently as the 18th Century—all done by local native tribes. The meaning and/or purpose of these carvings is unknown and undeciphered. Some of the carvings resemble animals, fruits, the Orion Constellation and other less-easily distinguishable figures. The carvings are also known as the Itacoatiara do Ingá (pronounced: “EEta- cwa – tiara”), which is the name in the Tupi language of the original natives. “Ita” means stone and “coatiara” means picture. This is not the only such site with carvings in this part of Brazil, but it is one of the biggest. Still, when we visited, there was nobody here. The northeast of Brazil is less-visited by tourists than the south; this site sits 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the capital of the state, so that also contributes to the lack of tourism, but that’s good for you if you do go! To get there, the roads aren’t bad and you can find it on your Waze or Google Maps. I was really impressed with this site and I was very glad I visited. If you’re anywhere near here, you really should come visit.

(Translated by Google) Hello, my Campina Grande, whoever saw you and whoever sees you will never recognize you again :) We were in Campina Grande, Paraíba, on August 7, 2024, after approximately 10 years. * It was a true reunion of souls, as I'm from Campina Grande, and revisiting the city brought back many special memories from the time I lived there for 18 long years. * We visited the Açude Velho, which for me is Campina Grande's most beautiful landmark. The place is stunning, right in the heart of the city. The promenade around the reservoir is widely used for walking, running, cycling, and events, offering a safe, spacious, and pleasant space for those who enjoy outdoor physical activities. * The surrounding nature, the view of the buildings, and the incredible sunset make the place even more special. It's easy to understand why it's one of the city's main tourist attractions. Besides the scenery, there are historical sites nearby, two museums, and the Parque da Criança (Children's Park) nearby. There are also parking spaces, making visiting the area much easier. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and kiosks. It's definitely worth visiting or revisiting. A true symbol of Campina Grande, it makes for great photos and memories.

Geologic Formations
Dozens of enormous boulders scattered on a plateau with panoramic views over an arid landscape.
Very nice location. Be aware you can only access trough Cabaceiras. Google may guide you via the 412 and Aldeia but that road is closed. You need to buy tickets at Hotel Faizenda Pia Mateus. Guide is included in ticket price. Guide speaks Portuguese only.
Ronald B — Google review
First, this is a difficult place to visit. A group guide is required, that is available only at the fazeda (hotel) near the entrance. Secondly, know that reaching the hotel involves driving about 45 minutes on rough gravel roads. The tour is set-time, staring at 4:00 PM and ending after dark. Thus you are driving back to the paved road on dark gravel roads. Now for the tour. The group will walk a couple of miles with a serious incline. This is not mountain climbing, but rigorous for old and fat people. The group stops at various location to observe the "Flintstones" terrain. There are indeed odd rocks, massive boulders scattered about. Nothing comparable in the USA. The end of the walk is on top, with a perfect view of the surrounding valley and sunset. Take lots of photos. Tnis is highly recommended, if the logistics are not too scary. Oh, if you want you can eat and lodge at the hotel. This will avoid the nighttime drive back across the unpaved roads.

They only offer 1 sample for their cachaça range and it was very disappointing as we were expecting to try at least a couple or 3 of them to decide which ones to buy. I have been told that in past you had the option to do exactly that and actually try multiple samples of different types of cachaça. I am giving 3 stars instead of 2 just because the place looks pretty and instagrammable, although not worth the 25 reais entry fee.

Beiral is located at the very point of the promontory and offers a superb view. We have gone there for many (20+) years and enjoyed the ambience and food. The service, while friendly enough, was always slow and spotty, but the food was good, especially the broths (caldos). In recent times, the place has deteriorated. They inexplicably decided to take up some of the choicest space up front with a kiddie pool that fills up with screaming children and some scrawny dog roams the premises, begging at tables. Customers are also allowed to bring lap dogs into the restaurant and their incessant yapping is blithely tolerated. The owners need to decide who they wish to serve: Humans or dogs. The place next door has the same view, similar service and food, but is cleaner.

When the tide is low, if you head to the right, you can access Redonda beach. In Ponta Grossa, you have options for restaurants, accommodation, buggy rides, quad bike rides and more. I had the opportunity to have lunch, and the fish was very well served and at a fair price. A very good place to spend a weekend.

(Translated by Google) A fantastic place, where nature reveals its fullness! In Ponta Grossa we can experience incredible experiences: trails in the mangroves and dunes, contemplating the manatees, buggy and boat rides and visits to the archaeological collection. In addition, it is imperative to enjoy a relaxing bath in the calm sea. Ponta Grossa has a good lodging and food structure. (Original) Um lugar fantástico, onde a natureza revela sua plenitude! (Translated by Google) I loved the beach. It's a paradise-like and well-preserved place. There you can find lobster skewers and boat trips that take you to see the fish. Just one thing to keep in mind: Do this trip between 8 and 9 in the morning, because when the tide is high it's not a good trip. You can get hurt because of the corals, you swallow a lot of water and the guides encourage you to do it later, but it's not comfortable or safe for you. I have bruises on both arms and my back because I hurt myself, and I cut my toe. (Original) Amei a praia.
