Kushi Beach Resort is a large, tranquil white-sand beach destination offering a calm swimming environment. The resort provides spacious air-conditioned rooms with dining areas, bathrooms, hot water, and TVs. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast during their stay. Although the resort does not have its own beach, it is located near Ariyaman Beach where visitors can take leisurely strolls or swim in the less deep waters suitable even for young children.
It is an excellent beach resort. Just 50 metres from the beach. The resort has entertainment too Rooms are elegant and covered entirely by wood. Actually this cottage has four beds too. Innovatively, the TV is located in a separate annexe without disturbing the persons occupied the bed. The restaurant is too good in a thatched shed under the shadow of trees. Excellent ambience. In Ramnad, no other entertainment except this resort. Swimming pool is very big and we can go for a deep swim. The water falls is also there and children would love it. The room is designed round and covered by wood. Very nice . For a functions, it is a good place for conduct in a open lawn and umbrella type dinings are aso there. Room rent is affordable. Good place to spend with the family.
Mohanakrishnan V — Google review
The location of the resort is excellent, close to the Ariyaman Beach. However, the overall maintenance of the property is quite poor. The swimming pool was dirty, and the mini waterfalls were surrounded by an unclean environment. The garden area also lacked proper upkeep. While the food served was decent, the dining and common areas were not well-maintained. The kids' play area had broken rides, making it unsafe and unappealing for children. On a positive note, Mr. Iyappa was very courteous and took good care of us. He even offered small gifts to our kids, which we appreciated. The pricing was reasonable, but the resort desperately needs better maintenance to match its potential and location.

Rooms are very Poor Maintenance, Towel only given. located Bank of Ariyaman Beach, great Ambience. Free usage of Swimming pool. Hotel service is available within resort. Car Parking available, children’s park and landscape was good. Busy tourism spot.

The rooms are quite different, designed with a nature-based theme. There's a bit of sand and a mild smell, but overall they’re good for staying. The swimming pool and water park are enjoyable, while the food is of average taste

Devipattinam Navagraha Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
It is an interesting temple and one of its kind. It has no building. There are 9 idols of 9 Navgrah which installed in the waist deep sea water by Bhagwan Ram himself. These Navgrah are made of navpashanam. However due to erosion there are no visible features left. The vigrahs just look like stump of stones. At time of high tide only 5 Grahs are visible and remaining are submerged. However at high tide also the water is waist deep only. This place is known for parihar of various astrological dosha such as Navgrah shanti, Brahmhatya dosh etc. Rate chart for every parihar is place at entrance. The Navgrah are surrounded by an open gallery type structure all around from where one can view Navgrah on inside and sea view on outside. The parking is available.

Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple, which is located in the sea.. a truly unique and peaceful place. The temple doesn’t have a building…instead, the nine Navagraha stones are set right in the water and are believed to have been installed by Lord Rama himself before he went to Lanka, after performing a pooja here. You usually walk through the shallow water to see them, but during our visit, due to high tide, no one was allowed to go inside as the water level was high. Those who experience it say it feels very special and spiritual. It’s calm, quiet, and gives a unique, relaxed feeling by the seashore. Parking is available (₹40), and you can complete the darshan in about 15–20 minutes. Definitely a must-visit spot near Rameswaram for its unique setting and spiritual energy.
Santosh S — Google review
Navagraha temple, situated inside sea. Walkway is provided. In high tide times Vigrahas are not visible. Many 'parihara' poojas are done here. It is 15 km from Ramanathapuram town. Bus transportation is also available. Worth visiting. It is different.
Indiran K — Google review
Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple was a truly unique experience 🌊🙏 — unlike any other temple I’ve seen. The nine planetary stones are set right in the sea, and walking through the shallow waters to reach them gives a magical feeling ✨ if you're spiritual. Locals believe Lord Rama himself installed these stones before going to Lanka, and you can really feel that spiritual energy here. It’s especially beautiful in the morning when the tide is low 🌅. Just be ready to get your feet wet, and soak in the mix of mythology, nature, and devotion — a must-visit if you’re exploring around Ramanathapuram or Rameswaram 🛕💙. I had a relaxed feel being on the sea shore at a quiet place.

This was the first temple I saw only with the Navagraham. I shocked. At present it has only 5 out of 9 navagraha statues. It was a blissful place with sea breeze. Great view. I liked it.

Visited the 3000 year old historic shiva temple. It offers a peaceful and calm environment for devotees. You can feel peace and spiritual uplift when you step inside the temple. The crowds on festival days can be large and there's not much lodging options as it is located in a small town. One of the best thing about this temple is 6 foot tall natarajar idol. The arudra dharishanam festival is a major festival because of the reveal of emerald natarajar idol. no waiting in queue if you go there on normal days. One of the must visit shiva temple in the world.

I recently visited Uthirakosamangai mangalanathar temple , and it was a truly peaceful and divine experience. The temple is well-maintained, with clean surroundings and a calm atmosphere that makes you feel instantly connected to spirituality. The architecture is beautiful, with intricate carvings and a serene sanctum that adds to the spiritual vibe. Don't miss mangala Vinayagar praharam & mangala theertham. Feet it ❤️

A nice divine temple with a serene atmosphere.. The temple's history goes back 3000 years. Other than the main shrines of the Temple, there are other shrines like Maragatha natarajar, manikavasagar shrine etc which are also main attractions Since recently the Kumbabhishekam ceremony was performed, the temple looks pretty awesome with new paint work..
Harish C — Google review
The history believed to span over 3,000 years, this ancient shrine is one of the oldest Saivite temples in South India and holds immense religious, architectural, and cultural significance. Steeped in mythology, the temple is said to be where Lord Shiva shared the secrets of the Vedas with Goddess Parvati—hence the name “Uthirakosamangai,” meaning "the place of the whispered secret." Another significant legend ties the temple to Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, who is believed to have married Mandodari here, implying the temple's sacredness dates back to pre-Ramayana times. Revered saints such as Manickavasagar and Arunagirinathar have sung its praises, securing the temple’s place in Tamil devotional literature. The temple's crowning jewel is its 6-foot tall emerald idol of Lord Nataraja, believed to be carved from a single piece of maragatham (emerald). This rare idol is covered in sandalwood paste year-round and is revealed only once during the grand Arudra Darshan festival in December–January, drawing thousands of devotees from across the region. The presence of a Sahasralingam—one large lingam embedded with a thousand miniature ones—adds to the spiritual mystique and uniqueness of the temple. Architecturally, the temple is a marvel. The structure features intricately carved pillars, towering gopurams, and majestic yali sculptures at the entrance, with stone balls that rotate in the mouths of the mythical creatures an impressive testament to the ingenuity of ancient Tamil artisans. Each element reflects a perfect blend of devotion and craftsmanship. Festivals are celebrated with grandeur and fervor. Arudra Darshan is the most anticipated, followed by Tirukalyana Vaibhavam in April–May, which marks the celestial wedding of Shiva and Parvati. Other important festivals include Maha Shivaratri, Annabishekam, and Vasanthotsavam. Daily rituals and six poojas are performed with devotion, maintaining the temple's traditional rhythm and spiritual energy. However, despite its sanctity and magnificence, a concerning issue shadows the temple experience preferential treatment given to select individuals who offer bribes or donations in exchange for faster access or special privileges. In a place where every pilgrim should be treated equally before the divine, some temple staff reportedly solicit or accept money in return for prioritizing “VIP” visitors. This leaves ordinary devotees many of whom travel from far, wait patiently in lines, and come with sincere devotion feeling marginalized and rushed through their darshan. Such practices raise serious concerns about fairness and the spiritual atmosphere of the temple. In a sacred space that represents divine equality, any form of discrimination or monetary favoritism is not only inappropriate but also undermines the entire purpose of pilgrimage. Temples should be places where all are welcomed with the same reverence, regardless of status or wealth. To preserve the sanctity of Uthirakosamangai, stronger efforts must be made to ensure that all devotees receive equal treatment. Measures like queue systems, clear signage, structured complaint channels, and dedicated volunteers could help improve the experience. Above all, addressing unethical behavior among temple staff is vital to restoring trust and respect in the temple environment. Despite these modern flaws, the Uthirakosamangai Temple continues to captivate the hearts of those who seek divine connection, artistic beauty, and cultural depth. Its legacy is profound, and its potential to inspire devotion remains untarnished if only the values of fairness and humility are upheld alongside tradition.

That positive energy when you're entering into temple... Wow... This is the first shivan temple which is constructed. And one of the oldest trees is here that is 3000 years old
Mukilan K — Google review
It is one of the most important Shiv temples of Bharat. It is believed that it is the first Shiv temple of the world. Another important aspect is the huge Nataraj vigrah which is housed in a separate sanctum. It is wonderful. It is difficult to imagine how an intricate one piece idol from Emerald would have sculpted. This idol is covered with sandal throughout the year. Only once in a year during arudra darshan festival in Nov Dec the old chandan is removed and new chandan is coated. At that time only one can see the uncoated form of Nataraj. The temple has beautiful colourful gopuram. There is quite a hustle outside temple with shops and parking space. Interiors of the temple are painted well.
Vishal S — Google review
Temple was recently renovated and kumbabishekam just got over... Thalampoo _ Pandanus odorifer is the main flower offered to Lord Shiva... Its available near the temple for cost of rs.300_400.

A Spiritually Enriching Visit to One of the Oldest Shiva Temples – Uthirakosamangai This was our first visit to Uthirakosamangai Temple, and it was truly a spiritually fulfilling experience. We had been planning to visit this ancient temple for several months, and fortunately, a couple of days’ break gave us the perfect opportunity to finally make the trip. Also known as Mangalanatha Swamy Temple, this historic site is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is believed to be one of the earliest Shiva temples in existence, rich in history, legends, and deep spiritual energy. One of the temple's main attractions is the 6-foot-tall Maragatha Nataraja idol, carved entirely out of emerald (maragatham)—a truly rare and priceless representation of Lord Shiva in his cosmic dance form. Most of the year, this sacred idol is kept covered in sandalwood paste, and it is revealed to the public only once a year during the Arudra Darshan festival. The temple is also associated with a unique and powerful lingam called the Sahasralingam—a representation of 1000 lingams in one single structure, created as a tribute to 999 sages who, according to legend, offered their lives in devotion to Lord Shiva. A Glimpse into the Temple’s Mythology According to temple lore, Lord Shiva once appeared in Ravana’s palace as a child with a small wound. When Ravana tried to pick up the child, a fireball emerged from the temple pond (Agni Theertham). Fearing it was Shiva's wrath, 999 sages sacrificed themselves by jumping into the fire. One sage stayed back to protect the sacred scriptures, and Shiva, pleased with his devotion, appeared as the Sahasralingam. That lone sage is believed to have been reborn as the revered saint Manikkavacakar, who also has a special lingam dedicated to him within the temple. The temple’s name, Uthirakosamangai, signifies the place where Lord Shiva shared sacred knowledge with Goddess Parvati, making it an important center for both devotion and divine wisdom. Our Experience We visited the temple in the evening, and since the temple had recently undergone Kumbhabhishekam (consecration ceremony), it was quite crowded with devotees from nearby towns and villages. Despite the crowd, the experience was serene and well-organized. We could still see the Yaga Kundams (ritual fire altars) used during the ceremony, which added to the divine atmosphere. A highlight of our visit was seeing the ancient 3000-year-old Jujube (Elanthai) tree, which is believed to hold spiritual significance. This temple is also said to grant moksha (spiritual liberation) to 1000 Shiva devotees, further reinforcing its importance in Hindu belief and worship. Final Thoughts This temple is not just a place of worship—it’s a treasure trove of history, mythology, and divine presence. The architecture, the legends, and the spiritual ambiance make it a must-visit for Shiva devotees and anyone interested in ancient temples of India. If you're in or around Ramanathapuram, or planning a trip to southern Tamil Nadu, I highly recommend visiting Uthirakosamangai. Do try to go early or during non-peak hours if possible, especially after major temple festivals, to enjoy a more peaceful darshan. Om Namah Shivaya 🙏🏼

Venerable Catholic basilica with a colorful altar & wooden statue of St. Mary dating from the 1600s.
A wonderful and peaceful experience after visiting Our Lady of Snows Basilica. A lot of miracles happen here and pilgrims from all over visit this miraculous shrine. I was truly touched by this shrine and the divine presence of mother could be felt. Looking at the beauty of our mother’s face in the altar you just cannot take your eyes away from our mother. Beautiful church both interiors and exteriors and the surroundings too are beautiful. Good parking space, wash rooms, hand wash facilities available here. Spend time with our mother and sure you will benefit in many ways. Amen ! God Bless 🙏🇮🇳

Built in 16th Century, this Basilica dedicated to the Lady of Snows is a magnificent Church located close to the sea shore of Tuticorin. What makes it a minor Basilica ? A minor basilica is a title given by the Catholic Church to churches that are recognized for their historical significance, architectural beauty, and spiritual importance. To become a minor basilica, a church must meet certain criteria and follow a formal process. Here are the key requirements: It must have a historical significance, architectural merits and spiritual importance. This Church has all the 3 requirements. In addition it houses the holy relic of Our Mother Mary's veil ( a small slice). The main Statue brought from Portugal is credited with many miracles. Many of the statues here are brought from France and elsewhere in Europe. You will find that the Church still has strong roots of Catholicism - from the Latin words at the main altar - Sancta Maria - ora Pro Nobis - meaning Holy Mary - Pray for Us, to the grotto depicting Our lady of Lourdes. It even has a statue of our lady of Guadalupe here. If you travel to this part of tamil nadu, this Pani Madha Koil is one of the main points of attraction.

Just about a km and half from the Railway station, normally a cab or tuk tuk drive will cost only Rs.60 to reach the church the local drivers charge anywhere between Rs100-150. Can't crib over it. A quiet laid back place, fishing is the main occupation and business here.

Absolutely a nice and historical church to visit. But if your travelling from a long distance and preferred to stay at the church provided accommodation then please make sure you reach out to the right person with the different contactable number than the one that google advices to contact as it does not exist. Also there are limited rooms currently available and a huge gap in coordination. So, my great advice is to plan for the alternate arrangements for your stay to have a pleasant and divine experience.

Awesome experience with family during 10 days festival which will happen from July 26 to Aug 5. Especially this year it was very grand due to gold car festivals which used to happen every 10 years once. You will find more peace in the presence of madha and nearby you have muthu nagar beach where you can spend time with kids. As this church was built during the British period, it is part of tourism. Don't miss it if you visit tuticorin.

Centuries-old temple on the Bay of Bengal with a distinctive 9-story tower & a natural spring.
Went recently to this beautiful temple on the shore filled with calmness around. A spl darshan ticket on a Monday evening 4pm took about 10 mins to see the Lord Muruga. Such a quick darshan which I never imagined. Golu display was awesome and almost 30+ stages of dolls to showcase the culture and divinity. The beach will make you to drench even if you dont wish for one. Such inviting it is. A morning sunrise is never to be missed on a Sea and this place stands noteworthy for the arena it brings up with sounds all over filled with Devotional vibes. Stroll around and you will start planning on when to come again next time. Thanks to all the people involved in maintaining this temple at this level.

I visited the Thiruchendur Murugar Temple last month. The temple is located near the seashore, and the surroundings looked very beautiful. Before going to the temple, I went to the beach and the Nazhikinaru Theertham, which are close to the temple. The sea breeze was cool and refreshing, and many people were enjoying themselves on the beach. I also visited Nazhikinaru, a small sacred well near the shore. The water there was surprisingly sweet, even though it is so close to the salty sea. I washed my hands and sprinkled a little water on my head before heading to the temple. After that, I entered the temple. The tall gopuram looked majestic, and I could hear devotional songs and temple bells. The temple was crowded with devotees but very clean and well managed. I slowly moved in the queue and had a nice darshan of Lord Murugar, who was beautifully decorated with flowers and ornaments. After the darshan, I received prasadam — warm and tasty sakkarai pongal. Then I went to the annadhanam hall, where they served hot food to all visitors. The meal was simple but delicious, and the volunteers served everyone kindly. Before leaving, I bought some small souvenirs from the nearby shops. My visit to Thiruchendur Murugar Temple was a happy and memorable experience.

One among the 6 famous temples of lord murugan. The uniqueness of this temple is that all other 5 temples are located on a hill top or near a hill, but Tiruchendur is the only temple which is located near the sea shore. This temple is famous for the function kantha shasti or soora samharam, in which lord Subramaniya alias lord murugan kills the asuran Soorabhathman and saves the Devas from his torture. This temple is under the control of the Ministry of HR&CE , Government of Tamilnadu . Government has taken many measures to develop and increase the amenities for the people and the pilgrims to facilitate ease of movement of the crowd to worship the Lord Subramaniya and Lord Shanmuga which are the main deities of the temple.

Tiruchendur Murugan Temple is not just a temple to me. It is my home of faith, peace and miracles. Every time I visit, I feel Lord Murugar’s presence so strong that it is impossible to leave without a heart full of blessings. The gopuram is breathtaking. The divine aura and the powerful stillness around the temple make you instantly feel protected. Standing before Lord Murugar here is an experience beyond words. It feels like he listens, understands and holds you close. One of the most magical parts of this temple is the sea right beside it. The sound of the waves, the cool breeze, and the view of the ocean merging with the temple creates a divine atmosphere that you cannot find anywhere. I can personally say that Lord Murugar has done wonders in my life. Every prayer I have made here has been heard in unexpected ways. The guidance, protection, and blessings I have received from Him are beyond words. Whenever life feels heavy, I come back to Tiruchendur and every time, He lifts me up again. If you are looking for peace, miracles, or a connection to something higher, Tiruchendur Murugan temple is a must visit. It’s not just a temple. It’s a divine experience. Om Muruga🙏❤️

Temple is near to beach. You can see sunrise and sunset while in the queue. It is not just a temple but a place full of peacocks. Beautiful nature. You can find budget friendly lodge near temple. We did not take any special ticket for darshan as it was weekday and no special occasion. But during occasion please opt for special darshan, it can reduce waiting time in queue. Definitely stay for a day and enjoy the beach view as well.

The temple just gives you peace , a different kind of energy you can feel once you enter the temple premises, for adults who are above 60 years of age can show there aadhaar can have a quick entry in the queue. This benefits are even for a new born. Along with a elder or a new born one can accompany. We get paneer leaf vibhoothi which is available inside the temple before darshan. Special queues are there that cost you around 100/- per person. Naali kinaru was in construction by the time we visited.

*A Divine Experience!* I had the privilege of visiting the Sri Vaikundanathar Perumal Temple at Sri Vaikundam, and I must say, it was a truly transcendent experience! Srivaikuntanathan Perumal Temple (also called Srivaikuntam temple and Kallapiran temple) in Srivaikuntam, a town in Thoothukudi district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is located 22 km from Tirunelveli. Constructed in the Tamil style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints from the 6th–9th centuries CE. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Vaikunthanathar and his consort Lakshmi as Vaikunthavalli.[1] The temple is also classified as a Nava Tirupati, the nine temples revered by Nammalvar located in the banks of Tamiraparani river.[2] The temple is next only to Alwarthirunagari Temple in terms of importance among the nine Navatirupathi temple. The temple is one of the Navagraha temples in Vaishnavism, associated with Surya, the sun god.

Arulmigu Nellaiyappar Temple, located in Tamil Nadu, is a renowned Hindu temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built in the 17th century around two intricate 7th-century towers, it boasts beautiful Dravidian architecture and intricate carvings that attract both devotees and tourists. The temple is well-maintained and offers a peaceful atmosphere for visitors to admire its ancient structures and sculptures.
I had the opportunity to visit the Nellaiappar Temple in Tirunelveli on 10th August, and it was truly a divine and memorable experience. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva (Nellaiappar) and Goddess Kanthimathi, stands as one of the grandest temples in South India with its magnificent gopurams and intricate stone carvings. The vast corridors, majestic pillars, and the musical stone columns reflect the architectural brilliance of the Pandya dynasty. The spiritual atmosphere inside the temple was deeply calming, and the darshan was very peaceful. Visiting this ancient temple not only gave me a sense of devotion but also admiration for our rich cultural heritage.

A 2nd biggest siva temple in world, with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . I really felt shivas heaven when I entered near garbhagraham of nellaiyappar .I suggest all to visit arround 5.30 Am to see the thiruvanathal sevai ,you will never forget the temple in life

In navakailaya’s this is the removing dhosams of raaghu in navagrahas.Kunnathur is also called as chenkaani.Kaani means land.Chenkaani meant by the land was in red soil.In ancient time kunnathur is called as keelvembunattu chenkaani alias Navaninarayana sathurvedhimangalam. From the information of this temple’s inscription this temple was built in 13th century. King veerapandian donated 4,200 value of money to this temple for daily poojas. There is a land scale in this temple. From the information of this temple inscriptions, this land scale was used to rectify the problems about lands. From the information of copper inscriptions who was preserved by the Nellaiappar temple, Tirunelveli, the temple was called by Thirunaangeesaneri and the god was called as Thirunaagessar (Similarly to Thirunaageswaram Raaghu sthalam). In the outer side of this temple Arumuganainar statue was formed in a single stone with thiruvachi.A serpant mark was found in the main god’s (lingam) chest. This temple was the best place for remedy to the devotees who was affected by raaghu dhosam. This temple is known as raaghu sthalam and also the 4th navakailayam. This is the best remedy place for the devotees for marital problems, infertility, kaaladhosam and nagadhosam. Once there was a king ruling this area, who had a very rare tree near his palace. The tree used to flower once only and yielded only one flower, which would turn in to a fruit which had the powers of giving eternal youth and strength to the person who consumed the fruit. The king used to take special care of safeguarding the tree as the fruit was meant to be consumed only by him. One day, a pregnant woman was carrying a pot of water from the river and passed by the tree. The ripe fruit fell into her pot, but she did not realize it. The next day, not finding the fruit, the king ordered a house-to-house search and located the pregnant woman. Without inquiry, the king ordered the woman to be killed. Despite all her pleading, the king remained steadfast and so, the woman cursed that all the living beings in the village would perish except pregnant women, children and the cows. Soon, the village became deserted, and the lingam installed by Romaharshana also went unattended. However, the cows which used to graze in the forest started pouring their milk on the lingam. When the Pandya king was informed of this, he immediately ordered the area to be cleaned the area and built a proper temple for the Lord. This enabled the woman’s curse to be negated. (Gotha is Sanskrit for cow).

Hidden Gem Near Coutralam Falls! 🌿💦 Wow! What a lovely and beautiful place to enjoy. Located just 40 km away from Coutralam Falls, this mesmerizing spot is far less crowded, making it a peaceful escape. Though the waterfall here is smaller in height, the force of the water is incredible—you literally can’t stand against it! It pushes you right off your spot, which makes it super fun, especially when you're with a group of friends. 🎉 Right next to the falls, you’ll find a dam, which is quite rare to witness together. I’ve never seen a dam and waterfall side by side like this—it’s truly a unique experience! They’ve thoughtfully provided separate dress changing rooms for ladies, ensuring privacy and safety. 👍 The same road also leads to Manjolai, which is a restricted forest area where entry is not allowed without special permission. This entire place is under the control of the Forest Department, and there are strict security checks. Carrying snacks, food, or drinks is not allowed—if you bring any, they’ll be taken at the check post and returned to you on the way back. 📅 Best time to visit: June to August, when the falls are at their best. Kanyakumari Beach, situated at the southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula, offers breathtaking views of sunsets and moonrises over the confluence of three seas: the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea. The rocky shoreline provides a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls while listening to the unique sound of waves. Visitors can savor local cuisine and explore nearby temples. It is best to visit during December and January to avoid extreme heat and humidity.
We had a memorable visit to Kanyakumari with my family during my annual vacation. It’s truly a place where nature’s beauty meets cultural richness. Watching the sunrise at the southern tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean meet, was an unforgettable moment. The crowd had already gathered early in the morning, and everyone waited eagerly for that first golden ray to appear. The sight of the rising sun reflecting on the ocean waves was simply breathtaking. After the sunrise, we spent time exploring the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue, both of which stand proudly in the middle of the sea. The short ferry ride added to the excitement, giving us a closer view of these iconic landmarks. Later, we walked around the beach area, visited a few temples, and enjoyed the sea breeze while shopping for beautiful seashell crafts and souvenirs from the local stalls. We also tried some Kanyakumari special dishes — especially the seafood varieties — which were fresh, spicy, and full of local flavors. However, one disappointing part of the trip was our experience with some photographers near the beach. They approached us offering photo packages, promising quick editing and special backgrounds. But after collecting the payment, things didn’t go as expected. Once the editing was done, someone else handed over our photos, not the person who took them, and the results were far from what was promised. It felt like a bit of cheating and mismanagement, which spoiled an otherwise joyful moment. Despite that issue, the trip overall was amazing — full of scenic beauty, cultural experiences, and family memories that we’ll always cherish. Kanyakumari truly remains one of the most peaceful and inspiring destinations in India.

Visiting Kanyakumari Beach is an experience like no other. The beach stretches along the southernmost tip of India, where the Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean meet. The shoreline is unique — a mix of sand and rocks, giving it a raw, untouched charm. Walking along the beach while listening to the waves crash against the rocks is incredibly calming 🌬️🌊. The beach is perfect for watching both sunrise and sunset 🌞🌇. Sunrise over the Bay of Bengal is magical, and sunset views are equally stunning. There are small local stalls nearby selling snacks and souvenirs 🐚🍴, but the beach itself feels peaceful and not overcrowded most of the time. It’s not ideal for swimming 🚫🏊, but excellent for photography 📸, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the natural beauty. Kanyakumari Beach is a must-visit for anyone traveling to the southern tip of India — a place where nature feels endless and awe-inspiring. 💙

Visiting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial was one of the most inspiring and peaceful experiences of my trip to Kanyakumari. Standing proudly in the middle of the ocean, the memorial marks the sacred spot where Swami Vivekananda meditated and attained enlightenment before his journey to spread his teachings across the world. The ferry ride to the rock itself is a wonderful experience — the vast expanse of the sea, the cool breeze, and the sight of the statue of Thiruvalluvar standing tall nearby create an unforgettable view. Once you reach the memorial, the calmness of the place instantly surrounds you. Despite the visitors, there’s a deep sense of silence and spirituality in the air. The structure is beautifully built, blending Indian architectural styles with simplicity and grace. Inside the meditation hall, it’s completely quiet — just you, the sound of the waves, and a feeling of deep peace. Sitting there for a few minutes made me feel truly centered and calm. From the top, the panoramic view of the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean is breathtaking. Watching the waves crash around the rock while the sun sets in the distance is a sight I’ll never forget. Sculpture
The Thiruvalluvar Statue is a monumental 40-meter-high statue and pedestal located on a small island near the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. It is dedicated to the eminent Tamil poet and philosopher, Saint Thiruvalluvar, who composed 1330 profound seven-worded couplets known as Thirukkural. This work emphasizes virtues such as duty, kindness, wealth, charity, gratitude, and love for all classes of people in society.
The Thiruvalluvar Statue in Kanyakumari is one of the most iconic monuments in Tamil Nadu, standing majestically at the southern tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean converge. This massive stone structure is dedicated to the celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, the author of the Thirukkural, an ancient work of Tamil literature that offers timeless wisdom on ethics, politics, and love. The statue rises to a height of 133 feet, symbolizing the 133 chapters of the Thirukkural. It stands on a 38-foot pedestal known as the Mandapam, which represents the 38 chapters of virtue (Aram). Together, the pedestal and statue reach a height of 161 feet, making it one of the tallest statues in India. The structure was designed by Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati and was inaugurated on 1 January 2000 to mark the new millennium. The monument is constructed using stone and concrete, reflecting both artistic elegance and engineering brilliance. The figure of Thiruvalluvar is portrayed in a thoughtful stance, with one hand pointing skyward, symbolizing higher ideals, and the other resting by his side, signifying practical wisdom. Visitors reach the statue by ferry services from the mainland, which also connect to the nearby Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The location offers a breathtaking view of the vast ocean and serves as a reminder of Tamil culture’s philosophical depth. The Thiruvalluvar Statue is not only a tribute to a legendary poet but also a cultural landmark that inspires values of morality, righteousness, and harmony.

Watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean from the same spot is a unique and unforgettable experience. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue are both iconic landmarks worth visiting — peaceful, inspiring, and scenic. The confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean is stunning to witness. The town is clean, the locals are warm and welcoming, and there's a calm spiritual vibe everywhere. Street food is great too, especially the fresh coconut water and local snacks. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, explore Indian culture, or just enjoy coastal beauty. I'd definitely love to return!

The Thiruvalluvar Statue is a majestic monument honoring the great Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. 🗿 Standing tall beside the Vivekananda Rock, it offers a spectacular view of the sea. 🌊 The craftsmanship and architectural beauty of the statue are truly impressive. 🏛️ Visitors can enjoy the ferry ride and experience the serene surroundings. 🚤 Overall, it’s a proud symbol of Tamil culture and wisdom worth visiting. 🌅

The Thiruvalluvar Statue is a must-visit in Kanyakumari. Tall and majestic, it stands beautifully by the sea. The boat ride to reach it is exciting, and the sunrise view from there is simply unforgettable.

I visited this place on 5th October 2025. There was a big crowd, so I suggest not buying tickets online in advance — it’s better to get them directly at the spot. It’s a nice place to visit and enjoy the moment. However, the glass floor recently installed by the government was disappointing — the quality looks quite poor and needs improvement. Hope the authorities take note and make it better. Overall, a good experience at the Thiruvalluvar Statue, Kanyakumari — definitely worth visiting once! 🌊🌅

The 133-foot Thiruvalluvar statue, situated on a small rock at the confluence of three seas in Kanyakumari, presents a truly awe-inspiring and magnificent sight. 🤩🌊🗿 The glass bridge connecting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar statue enhances the visitor experience, accessible via a single boat ride from the shore. 🌉🚢😊

The Thiruvalluvar Statue is an iconic landmark that adds immense beauty and pride to Kanyakumari. The boat ride to the monument is enjoyable, and standing near the massive statue gives a breathtaking view of the endless ocean all around. The craftsmanship, peaceful surroundings, and the perfect blend of history and scenic charm make this spot unforgettable. A must-visit attraction along with the Vivekananda Memorial.

A truly divine experience! The temple is well maintained, clean, and filled with a strong spiritual aura. The sight of the goddess is so powerful and calming, giving a sense of peace and devotion. The location near the confluence of the three seas makes it even more special—you can feel the energy of nature and faith together. Arulmigu Devi Kanyakumari Bhagavathi Amman Temple is one of the most revered and ancient temples in South India, located at the southernmost tip of the Indian subcontinent in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi Amman, a manifestation of Goddess Parvati, the temple holds immense spiritual, cultural, and historical significance. According to legend, the Goddess took the form of a virgin to destroy the demon king Banasura, who was causing distress to the gods and people. The temple’s presiding deity, the virgin goddess, is believed to embody purity, power, and divine grace. The idol of the Goddess is adorned with a glittering diamond nose ring, which is so bright that it is said to be visible even from the sea. This sparkling jewel has been the subject of many myths, adding to the temple’s mystical aura. The temple is also associated with the myth of Goddess Kanya awaiting her marriage with Lord Shiva, which was interrupted, symbolizing eternal devotion. The architecture of the temple reflects traditional Dravidian style, with carved pillars, detailed sculptures, and a sacred sanctum that attracts devotees from all over India. Apart from being a spiritual center, the temple stands at a geographical marvel, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean meet. The temple remains a symbol of faith, divinity, and cultural heritage, continuing to inspire millions of devotees with its legends and sacred presence.

A beautiful and peaceful temple located right by the seashore — one of Kanyakumari’s most spiritual spots. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kanyakumari and is known for its divine atmosphere and unique seaside location. The morning darshan is the best time to visit (around 5:30–7:30 AM) when it’s less crowded and you can hear the sound of waves in the background. Phones and cameras aren’t allowed inside, so it’s a nice break from screens — you can really just soak in the calm and positive vibes. The temple is well-maintained, and the nearby shops and ocean view make the visit even more special. A must-visit when in Kanyakumari! 🌅

One of the most loved temples, a must visit place in Kanyakumari. Beside the temple premises you can spend time near the ocean, enjoying the vastness of ocean and it's humongous waves along with vivekananda rock view. There you can have bathing place too.

The Place having such historical significance should be maintained by private players who are very enthusiastic about Vivekananda. TN govt worst maintenance always no passion, vision or enthusiastic in anything that they do. Pros The rock is maintained well, obviously it's not maintained by Govt it's self evident. Glass bridge (negative too) Cons Online booking for the ferry is broken the payments get declined due to fraudulently notice. Shows Present TN Govt ethics.. For a 2 min ride in boat charging 100 for ferry is unrealistic. Rs. 300 special ferry charges is a scam and has notthing in it, you better avoid this and buy only if you are in a hurry and there is a long que. Be advised Que moves fast so no point in special ticket. The glass bridge idea as a whole is good, but no one to maintain it so there's no visibility below especially when there's slight rain. So if no maintenance is done by cleaning the surface then no point in building it. To a govt who had the mind to build a glass bridge between the two rocks could have also built another bridge connecting main land as its hardly 50mtrs. See Google Maps or My Pics. Main Con not sure why Stalin picture is there in the Govt boat. The guy doesn't believe in Hinduism, hence has got nothing to do with Vivekananda swami. Ferry are so badly maintained that you would get scarred if you see then afar. The Maintenance area is so small

Kanyakumari is famous for beach and temple, at Nagercoil district in Tamilnadu. The temple is one of the 108 Shakthi Peethas and is dedicated to goddess Devi Kanyakumari. The temple has a history of over 3000 years. Other shrines inside the temple is Lord Surya Deva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa, Goddess Bala Sundari and Goddess Vijaya Sundari. The story about the origin of this temple is that demon Banasura gained a blessing that he could be killed only by a virgin girl. To eliminate the threat of Banadura, Goddess Parasakthi took the form of Kumari, or a virgin girl. The goddess eventually defeated Banasura. Saint Narada and Lord Parasurama requested the goddess to exist on earth till the end of Kaliyuga, which she accepted. Hence Parasurama constructed this temple by the ocean and installed the idol of Devi Kanyakumari.

Actually it was accidently we visited here because of delay in boat service to Vivekanandana Rock. Due to the delay in time of boat service, we decide to go here. It was great experience here, Good peaceful atmosphere here. We can experience Great views of Vivekandana Rock and sea from the top of the building. We have taken many of great photos of kanyakumari sea from this spot. There is also a park facilities for children. Better to go on morning time before the heavy sunlight, because the park is on open space. It is not partically possible for children to enjoy their rides on park on extremely hot climate conditions. Must go there you won't regret it. Also there is many photo frames inside, that shows about our Mahatma Gandhi ji 😍.

A peaceful tribute to the Father of the Nation The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (Gandhi Mandapam) in Kanniyakumari is one of the most serene and thoughtfully designed landmarks in India. Nestled right by the seashore, this memorial beautifully captures the essence of Gandhiji’s life — simplicity, peace, and purpose. Built at the very spot where one of the urns containing Gandhi’s ashes was kept before immersion, the memorial is not just an architectural wonder but a sacred reminder of India’s greatest son. The central pink structure stands 79 feet tall, representing the Mahatma’s age at the time of his passing. Designed in the Orissan architectural style, the building is ingeniously constructed so that on October 2nd, Gandhi’s birthday, the sun’s rays fall exactly on the spot where his ashes were placed — a truly remarkable alignment that symbolizes eternal light and remembrance. Inside, you’ll find photographs, writings, and depictions of key moments from Gandhi’s life and India’s freedom struggle — offering both inspiration and insight. Despite being close to the bustling tourist areas of Kanniyakumari, the memorial itself feels calm and meditative, with the gentle sound of the waves enhancing its tranquil atmosphere. 📍 Tip: Visit around sunrise or sunset for a breathtaking view of the sea behind the memorial — the soft light makes the entire place glow. It’s also just a short walk from other major attractions like Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue, making it easy to include in your Kanyakumari itinerary. A must-visit for anyone who wants to feel the quiet strength and simplicity that defined Mahatma Gandhi’s life.

A very old temple for nagaraja. There is special puja on ayilyam and on Sundays. There is a place where one offers eggs to the snake God. There is idol of snake everywhere. There is sannadhi for shiva and ambal. On the outside is a separate place for durga balamurugan and krishna. On the outside is a small pond. Just opposite to that is a huge tree under which are idols of many snakes.

Visited on today evening. Very old and well maintained temple in Nagercoil..The name of the town itself generated from this temple and has a long legacy. Those who are suffering from diseases and other ailments offer their prayers at the temple and the legend is that it is considered healed. The temple opens in the early morning and also in the evening from 5pm on all days. Those planning a visit to Kanyakumari can enroute visit this temple to get blessings. It is told that live Snake kings are there inside the temple. Hence people offer eggs as their offerings.

The seven-acre palace near Thuckalay is surrounded by hills, rivers, and waterfalls, making it very scenic. Interestingly, even though the palace is in Tamil Nadu, it is owned by the Kerala Government. Locals say that outside the palace is Tamil Nadu, but stepping inside takes you into Kerala. The Kerala Government has hired young staff trained in archaeology, which helps tourists enjoy the visit more. Mostly made of wood, the palace has beautiful murals, carvings, relics, and black granite floors. Built over 400 years ago, it is the largest wooden palace in Asia.

The palace is truly an archaeological wonder — beautifully preserved and full of history. Definitely a must-visit at least once! It’s easily accessible from Trivandrum, and there’s plenty of space for car parking, so no worries there. However, there aren’t many good restaurants nearby, so it’s better to plan your food in advance. Overall, a great experience for history and architecture lovers

It’s a big palace and easily takes 2+ hrs to cover. However, it would be difficult for elders to climb the stairs in this palace. There are too many and are steep. Would be good if they instruct this while issuing the ticket. Paid restrooms are here for 5₹ per head but could be maintained better. We went on a Saturday and lot of schools are bringing children to this place as a day trip.

Supposedly Asia’s largest wooden palace from the Travencore era. The palace is situated in Tamil Nadu, but still owned and maintained by the archeological department of Kerala, even after the reorganization of Kanyakumari district from Kerala to Tamil Nadu. It’s is well preserved, painting of artworks and maintenance done as needed. The palace is sprawling and displays Kerala style architecture. Good to visit! Caution: foot wear isn’t allowed inside the palace, walking around barefoot in the hot sun may burn feet 👣 🙂. Good to visit during early hours of the day, as crowd starts to swell past 11 AM.

Built in 1960s, to make water flow from a hill top to adjacent hill top - viaduct. The beauty is a gushing river flowing in below valley across under the viaduct, Holds a record as the tallest and longest in Asia when commissioned in 1969. Stunning views Will be thrilling once you walk on the bridge from one end to other end -as well very scenic to see the surroundings from that height. The wind also will be strong while walking at that height From the end one can get down through the stairs and see the beauty from below and astonish the height of way you walked a while ago. People with acrophobia may ensure precautions The bridge would be nearly 1 KM long and 115 ft high

It's a unique tourist spot which allows you to walk the length of the water channel and have a mesmerizing view of the greens around. Long weekend traffic and people can get very high in numbers so plan accordingly. If you get down on the other side then the way back up has lots of steps so be mindful of that. There's a small pond below where you can get in and have bath or fun in the water but that too can get crowded. Lots of small shops selling tea/coffee and fruits are there. The humidity is unbearable so wear a wet bandana around your neck and extremely light t shirts or tops/bottoms.

Would be difficult for elders to do it. And on the other side, it could be maintained better as there were lot of garbage around. Nevertheless, Beautiful place.

Mathur Aqueduct is one of the longest aqueduct in Asia and in TN. Once you walk and reach centre of duct, one can see vast expanse of greenery, with rolling hills of the Western Ghats in the background, along with meandering river flowing below. The view is ecstatic during sunset. Only issue is bit problem of connectivity....

Thirparappu Waterfalls

Waterfalls
I visited Thirparappu Waterfalls without much expectation, but it truly turned out to be a stunning experience. The waterfall is beautiful, and the best part is that you can actually go under it and enjoy the refreshing flow of water. There are separate sections for gents, ladies, and families, which adds to the comfort and safety of visitors. There's also a small but well-maintained children’s park nearby, making it a great spot for families with kids. The area is clean, well-managed, and has bathroom/washroom facilities available, which is definitely a plus. Overall, it’s a hidden gem worth visiting.

One of the best waterfalls nearby Trivandrum. It’s clean and its way spreader, so more people can enjoy at the same time, lack of clean toilets is a disadvantage and also the ticket for packing is 50 for cars and entry is 20. Nice ambience and can be enjoyed with friends and families as well. Changing room are available nearby as well. Also some cloth shops at the entrance provide dress changing rooms, if we purchase something from them, that is also a good option too.

Thirparappu Waterfalls in Tamil Nadu is a hidden gem that's definitely worth visiting. Located about 55 kilometers from Kanyakumari, this stunning waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and offers breathtaking views. The waterfall is about 50 feet high, and the water flows for about seven months in a year, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers. Key Attractions: Scenic Beauty: The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and rocky terrain, making it a perfect spot for photography and relaxation. Boating: Visitors can enjoy boating in the Kodayar River, which adds to the overall experience. (Not available everyday) Swimming: There's a swimming pool for kids and adults, making it a great spot for families. (Not included in the entry fee) Temple Visit: The nearby Thirparappu Mahadevar Temple is a rock-cut temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is a must-visit. Practical Information: Best Time to Visit: June to December is the best time to visit, with pleasant weather and high water flow. Entry Fee: A nominal fee of ₹10 per person is charged, with additional charges for parking and camera/video usage. Timings: The waterfalls are open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Accessibility: The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport (65 km away), and the nearest railway station is Kuzhithurai (10 km away). Tips: - Wear comfortable footwear as the terrain can be rocky and slippery. - Carry a change of clothes if you plan to swim or take a dip in the pool. - Avoid visiting during heavy rains as the water flow can be dangerous.

Visited this waterfalls recently during the rainy season, and it was truly a beautiful experience. The waterfall was in full flow, offering a breathtaking view of nature’s power and beauty. Due to the heavy water flow, we couldn’t swim or take a bath, but just watching the falls was refreshing and worth the trip. The surroundings, however, could be maintained better, the area was not very clean, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the overall experience was nice, peaceful, and perfect for a one day getaway. The scenic beauty and lush greenery around the place make it a great spot to relax and enjoy nature. Definitely worth visiting, especially during the rainy season! 🌧️🌴

I have Visited Thriparappu Waterfalls recently — and honestly, it’s such a refreshing spot! The place is surrounded by greenery and the view is just beautiful. The waterfall isn’t too high, but the flow is strong enough to enjoy a nice shower under it. Great place to relax, click pictures, and just enjoy nature. There’s a small entry fee of 10 rupees and parking area nearby, plus a few local shops for snacks and tea. It can get crowded on weekends, so going early is a good idea. I will suggest you to visit around 8:30 AM to avoid crowd..Overall, a perfect short trip spot for families and friends This waterfall is just 50 km from Trivandrum International airport and railway station. Also it’s around 50 km from Kanyakumari.

It was amazing we have to buy a ticket per head 10Rs and car parking will be 50Rs Scenic Beauty: The falls are surrounded by lush greenery, creating a beautiful and refreshing picnic spot. Bathing & Boating: A picturesque pool at the base offers safe swimming for families, with separate bathing enclosures for men and women. Boating is also available. Mahadevar Kovil: A historic, fortified temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, believed to have been built in the 9th century, is located near the falls. Irrigation: Upstream, a weir diverts water from the Kodayar River to supply paddy fields, highlighting the falls' practical importance to the locality.

Thirparappu Falls, just about two hours’ drive from Kanyakumari, quickly became one of my favorite day‑trip destinations. The journey itself is a pleasant ride through lush countryside, and the moment you catch sight of the cascading water, the excitement builds. The falls are a spectacular display of nature’s power—tons of crystal‑clear water plunge into a wide pool, creating a refreshing mist that cools you even on the warmest afternoons. What sets this spot apart is the thoughtful locker facility; Only with 20 rupees you can safely store your belongings and enjoy the scenery without worrying about your bags. The surrounding area is well‑maintained, with shaded benches and a few snack stalls that serve simple, tasty treats. I spent hours splashing, and simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, and every minute felt like pure enjoyment. Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or family, Thirparappu Falls offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, making it a must‑visit for anyone exploring southern Tamil Nadu.

The entry fee is ₹50 per person and parking costs ₹60. The centre is home to nine elephants, aged between 4 and 84 years. One of them is said to be the oldest elephant in Asia, which makes the visit even more special. The place is well maintained, and you can watch the elephants being bathed, fed, and cared for. The surroundings are full of greenery and calm, giving a nice forest-like feel. There are also trekking options here. The first package is a 4 km trek that starts in the morning and finishes by around 12 PM. It costs ₹1300 for a group of five. The second is a full-day trek for ₹2500 for five people. All the elephants are rescued animals. Visiting for the 2nd time and this time due to heavy rain during monsoon the pathway was blocked by fallen trees and electric lines hence could not view the elephant feeding and bathing and I was taken for a limited sighting of elephants. But the rain made the atmosphere and greenery looks even better. This place also has a couple of trekking options. Location is around 15 km from kattakada. Must visit when visiting Trivandrum.

I recently visited the Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre in Trivandrum, and it was a unique experience! The center is located in a beautiful forest area, providing a natural habitat for rescued elephants. We reached there by 4PM, we got a chance to see the feeding sessions. The surroundings are peaceful, making it a great spot for nature lovers. We were not able to touch or feed the elephants; we could only observe them from a small distance. They also have offer boating facilities. Overall, it’s a good place to visit, especially for families and wildlife enthusiasts. Parking - The parking area is spacious and paid. Rating: 4/5 - Scenic location, close-up view of elephants, peaceful environment

Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in Trivandrum, Kerala, is a nature lover's paradise. It offers deer viewing, a crocodile park, and boat rides on the picturesque Neyyar Dam. The sanctuary features attractions like the Bus Safari, Elephant Rehabilitation Center, Lion Park, and Crocodile Farm. Visitors can also enjoy guided trekking and overnight camping amidst lush greenery. The serene atmosphere makes it an ideal getaway for hiking or bird-watching enthusiasts.
I visited Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary with a friend and had a wonderful time. On the way, we stopped near the reservoir – while entry is restricted in some areas, there are a few safe spots where people were enjoying a refreshing bath. We then headed up to the top of the dam, which has a small entry fee and parking charge. Totally worth it – the view from the top was absolutely spectacular, especially with the dam gates open, creating a stunning visual of the water gushing down. It’s a perfect location for photography lovers. Nearby, there’s a children’s park which looked well-maintained and great for families. We noticed a boat safari is also available, though we didn’t opt for it this time. There are also a crocodile park and a deer park close by, making it a complete nature experience. Highly recommended for a half-day trip or a peaceful nature escape!
Sajin S — Google review
Once you visit, you’ll realize it’s truly worth the trip. The journey takes you through lush, green landscapes with dense forests flanking both sides of the road. As you arrive, the dam greets you with two distinct views. On the lower side, you’ll find the shutters, a beautifully designed bridge, a children’s park, and other recreational spots. The upper side, in contrast, offers a serene atmosphere—remarkably calm even with over a hundred visitors present at the time. Nearby, there’s a Forest Department office, a cafeteria, and a crocodile park—though the latter could certainly benefit from better maintenance. One of the most exciting features is the variety of boat trips available within the dam, including a longer safari-style excursion. Overall, the experience is enjoyable and memorable. However, it’s hard to ignore the missed potential. The tourism department appears to be underperforming, especially given the vast opportunities available to develop the area into a major attraction. Right now, it feels like a beautiful title waiting for the poem to be written. A sincere request to the government: show the commitment and vision needed to transform this naturally gifted location into a world-class destination for travelers from around the globe.

Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Neyyar Dam is a great place to go to free our minds when we have free time in the Thiruvananthapuram district. If you go during the rainy season, all the shutters are open and it's fun to see the water coming through. This is a couple friendly place and can be a family friendly place too, but it takes a while. 1. Couple friendly 12 to 4 . This is a great place for couples to get their own freedom. 2. Family 9 to 12 and 4 to 6 It's a great time to come and enjoy with the family. There is also a swimming pool right there for an hourly fee. That's also a good experience. It's a great place to enjoy if it's completely free. Rating 4.5/5 Food available Entry fee 10/ per head Parking fee yes And there's an aquarium right next to it. Enjoyyyyyyyyy.........

🌿 A Journey into Nature’s Heart – Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary & Dam, Kerala Nestled in the foothills of the Western Ghats, about 30 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram, lies one of Kerala’s most underrated yet breathtaking eco-tourism destinations – Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Sprawling over 12,000 hectares of lush greenery, this sanctuary, coupled with the scenic Neyyar Dam, offers an unforgettable blend of adventure, serenity, and natural beauty. 🏞️ The Charm of Neyyar Dam The first sight of the Neyyar Dam instantly captivates you. Surrounded by majestic hills and mirrored waters, it’s a peaceful retreat away from the bustle of city life. The dam not only plays a crucial role in irrigation and water supply but also enhances the area’s beauty, making it a favorite spot for picnics, photography, and evening strolls. The view of the sunset reflecting over the calm reservoir is truly mesmerizing. Boating in the Neyyar reservoir is a must-do activity. Visitors can take a speedboat or a regular motorboat to explore the serene waters and reach the Lion Safari Park or the Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre located within the sanctuary area. 🦁 Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary – A Natural Wonderland The Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide range of flora and fauna. The forest is rich with tropical evergreen and deciduous trees, forming a dense canopy that keeps the air fresh and cool even on warmer days. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot species like Asian elephants, gaur (Indian bison), sloth bears, sambars, langurs, and bonnet macaques. For bird lovers, the sanctuary is a paradise with dozens of endemic and migratory birds, their songs echoing through the forest trails. The Lion Safari Park inside the sanctuary offers a thrilling experience. Visitors can take a bus ride through a fenced natural enclosure to see majestic lions in their semi-wild habitat. Though it’s a short trip, it gives a fascinating glimpse into the behavior and grace of these big cats. 🐊 Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre Another highlight is the Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre, one of the few in India dedicated to the conservation of crocodiles. Established in 1977, it aims to protect and breed the endangered species. Visitors can see crocodiles of different ages and sizes basking in the sun or moving through the waters – an educational and exciting experience, especially for children and wildlife enthusiasts. 🧘‍♀️ Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwanthari Ashram Just near the dam lies the world-renowned Sivananda Yoga Ashram, which adds a spiritual charm to the region. People from all over the world visit the ashram to learn yoga, meditation, and holistic living. The peaceful surroundings of the sanctuary make it an ideal setting for self-reflection and inner peace. 🚶‍♂️ Trekking & Adventure For adventure seekers, Neyyar offers several trekking trails that lead through thick forests, small streams, and breathtaking viewpoints. One of the most popular treks is to the Agasthyamalai peak, part of the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve, which is believed to be the abode of sage Agasthya. It’s a challenging yet rewarding trek, offering panoramic views of the Western Ghats.

Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park, crocodile park, elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

The place is surrounded by lush greenery, a peaceful dam site, and a variety of animals including lions, deer, and elephants. MUSAMMIL S — Google review
I am giving 4 star as its good but has potential to be great. Neyyar Dam, nestled in the Western Ghats about 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram, offers a peaceful escape into nature. As a traveller, I found it to be a quiet, scenic spot—ideal for those who prefer slow, reflective moments over crowded tourist attractions. The dam is surrounded by forested hills and a vast reservoir that glows beautifully in the evening light. A walk through the nearby park or simply sitting by the water feels calming. The boat ride across the reservoir adds a touch of adventure, taking you to the Lion Safari Park and Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre. While these spots may not be high-end, they offer a raw and unique experience, especially for families or first-time visitors. Neyyar isn’t about grand sights or adrenaline; it’s about pausing, watching, and breathing. It’s best visited on a weekday for a quieter experience. There are limited food options, so carrying your own snacks and water is a good idea. If you’re looking for a simple, refreshing day surrounded by nature, Neyyar Dam is well worth a visit. During monsoon this place offers a completely different experience than that of the summer. Facilities are mostly minimal and the central view tower definitely needs some better management. Also thats the same situation of the parks, can be maintained well, with proper land management and maintenance. If you are someone who enjoys a view its a great place. There is also a KTDC restaurant right next to the dam. I hope they have accommodation facilities too as they had a decent menu. Prices seemed reasonable and can be subjective. There is also an aquarium that has a ton of fish species, and there are some giants too, giants in a sense as if they weigh over 50kgs. It has a seperate ticket counter. I believe it was the first fish aquarium in india or asia. The lighting and interior ambience during monsoon is very dull and moody, but i hope it will be better during the summer. The structure is also comparatively better considering a public building, its not great in terms of aesthetics but is definitely good in terms of flow, movement and exhibit placement. I liked that one. It also has some huge ponds outside the building close to its perimeter that has some large koi fishes. Overall a good place for a one day trip, and it’s always better to visit and leave early. Check with the authorities for official timings.

Excellent Temple and a touch of antiquity with modern Kerala Temple Architecture, maintained by Indian Army after merger of Travancore army with the forces. With 32 forms of Ganesha this is an amazing Temple to visit. Main Deity is sitting with right leg folded.

The Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapathy temple is situated at East Fort in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram and very close to Sree Ananta Padmanabha Swamy temple. The main Deity of the temple is Sri Mahaganapathy (Ganesha). The original Idol was maintained by The Nair Brigade initially at Padmanabhapuram and later when they were shifted to Thiruvananthapuram they installed the Idol and the current temple came into being. After the integration of the Travancore army with the Indian Forces, the temple is being maintained by the Indian Army. The main Vazhipadu (Offering) in the temple is the breaking of coconuts at the temple.

Visited this temple about 3 weeks back and it was really good. Note: If you are male, you need to wear a dhoti to go nearer to the idol. Entry is still allowed without the dhoti though.

My visit to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was a deeply spiritual and mesmerizing experience. The temple’s architecture, with its golden gopuram and intricate carvings, beautifully reflects the grandeur of traditional Kerala and Dravidian styles. The darshan of Lord Vishnu in the reclining (Anantha Shayana) posture was truly divine and filled me with peace and devotion. The temple’s atmosphere was calm and sacred, and the chants of devotees created a serene spiritual vibration all around. The temple administration maintained the premises with good discipline and cleanliness, and the staff were polite and helpful. We visited at around 5-something in the morning, and I’m grateful we did. This is one of those places where you feel the sanctity the moment you step in. Dress code (very strict, please read): As a foreigner, be prepared to dress traditionally. For women, a sari is best; if not possible, wear a kurta/top with a dhoti wrap below (no stitched pants). For men, dhoti/mundu is required and upper body bare is customary inside the inner areas. Jeans or any pants are not allowed. If you arrive unprepared, you can buy a dhoti at the counter. Even the police/security were in traditional attire when we went—everyone follows the code here. Phones & bags: No phones or electronic devices are allowed inside. There’s a counter/clockroom to deposit them, with strict checks at entry, so travel light. Tickets & queues: There is entrance fee, but be ready for long queues for darshan of Śrī Padmanabha (Lord Viṣṇu in reclining form). It takes patience, but when you finally behold the black stone murti lying in sublime repose, it’s unforgettable—deeply divine and moving. Experience & ambience: Inside, the sculptures and wood/stone work are beautiful—timeless craftsmanship that speaks for itself. When we exited, some painting/maintenance was ongoing outside, so wide photos weren’t ideal, but it didn’t take away from the spiritual depth within. Tip for first-timers: Read a short history before you go—understanding the background of this kṣetra makes the experience richer. Go early, dress correctly, carry cash for garments if needed, and keep an open, prayerful heart. This isn’t just sightseeing; it’s an immersion into the living tradition of Sanātana Dharma. Verdict: A must-visit for seekers and culture lovers alike—come for darshan, humility, and a taste of Kerala’s sacred heritage. 🕉️💛
