Cala Luna is a small, secluded beach nestled in a cove surrounded by rocky headlands. The turquoise waters and caves add to its allure. It's located north of Cala Fuili, the last accessible beach by car from Cala Gonone, and serves as the starting point for a hike to Cala Luna. Nearby attractions include the Grotte del Bue Marino (Sea Oxen Grotto), which are renowned caves accessible by boat.
This place has clear water and beautiful views. We came in the beginning of May, water is still cold. But when you will see this you will want to get in. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. Little advise get the small boat, not the cruise.
Anton F — Google review
Very beautiful beach with unique landscape and cows at the back of the beach. I really disappointed that didn’t visit the caves but hopefully next time. Overall highly recommended to visit!!
Sebastian W — Google review
Amazing beach! It’s crowded because of the boat tours but you can cross to the caves where it’s much better
Kristin A — Google review
Walked to the beach some years ago- this year only seen from boat. It's a wonderful one, but crowded. Long. The caves are impressive - and the back part is lovely too!
Eric B — Google review
It's not the easiest place to reach — you either hike for a couple of hours or take a boat (30 euro)— but it’s 100% worth it. The beach itself is stunning: soft sand, clear turquoise water, and big caves right along the shore that give you shade when the sun gets too strong. The view looks like a postcard, but real. No loud crowds, just nature and peace.
Olga Y — Google review
What an experience! The views of the beach and caves are amazing, the rock formations are incredible, great for some pictures!
Shaun A — Google review
Stunning beauty and unique natural features. It's characterized by its crystal-clear turquoise waters, white sand, and imposing limestone cliffs and caves.
Oana — Google review
We paid €60 per person to reach Cala Luna by a large boat — and while the price is on the higher side, the destination itself is definitely worth the trip. The water is crystal clear and incredibly inviting, perfect for swimming and relaxing. However, the experience is slightly spoiled by the condition of the beach cave walls — they’re covered in scratches and graffiti, which takes away from the natural beauty of the place. It’s unfortunate that such a stunning spot hasn’t been better preserved. The beach was also quite crowded, which made it feel less like a hidden gem and more like a tourist hotspot. Still, if you manage to come early in the day or off-season, you might catch it at its best. Cala Luna has amazing potential, and with a bit more care and fewer people, it could easily be one of the most magical places in Sardinia.

Grotta del Bue Marino is a 5km cave with colorful stalactites, stalagmites, and Neolithic wall carvings. The museum collection includes artifacts from the Gruppo Grotte of Dorgali and Nuoro, private collections, and archaeological excavations in various locations. Accessible only by boat, the caves are situated in the stunning Gulf of Orosei.
Amazing trip first by boat and then an hour long walk inside the cave. If you buy the ticket for exploring the cave inside you will not regret. It is a walk 1 km inside the cave with fantastic views! I highly recommend!
Mona P — Google review
Very impressive cave, large enough to have a highway through it! Grotta del Bur Marino is a part of Italy’s longest cave systems, with a total lenght of more than 70 kms, but tourists will only walk about 1 km. The walking path is wheelchair friendly and there are only a few steep parts. Highly recommend cave!
Simon L — Google review
We visited during a boat trip to Cala Luna, and it was absolutely worth it. The cave goes through 1 km (and much more but that’s closed to the public) and it’s a beautiful view. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. In the summer heat, it’s also nice to visit a place of 17 C temperature.
Ábel M — Google review
Another beautiful grotto along the eastern coast, reachable only from the sea. Still, I think I’d recommend Grotta del Fico a bit more, but honestly each of these spots is worth seeing. Stunning place.
Karol K — Google review
A must visit if you stay around Cala Gonone! The transfer (ships, boats etc.) are very well organized. The tour in the cave is also not too much but also very informative. Our guide Laura spoke very good English and told us about every detail of the cave and the formations. We had a great experience!
Gerda Z — Google review
We booked via our hotel’s excursion counter. When you reach the port, it’s a chaos as you don’t know which boat to get on and there are 100s of people but there are lots of staff to guide you to the correct boat. The boat was not crowded We we reached the cave, we were separated into Italian and English speaking group, the guide was very informative and explained the formation of the cave nicely. The inside of the cave was amazing, initially I thought I’d feel claustrophobic but the path is wide and well lot, you go in and come out the same route and the guide told us that if at any point anyone wanted to return they could, which was a relief but I was fine. The cost for entry to the cave was €12. You also have to pay €3 per person environmental tax This is a must visit place and I highly recommend it We were then taken to Cala Luna by boat. This is the best beach in the gulf Of Orosei. Clear water and Sandy beach. When you get off the boat, if you go to the Beach on the right, you can actually stay inside the cave to avoid the sun but the beach on this side has large pebbles on the bed of the sea whereas the other side is very Sandy. I went there twice and used both sides. I highly recommend visiting this beach. Only issue is, it’s accessible only by boat or a long hike from Cala Fuili
Rosy S — Google review
Trail from the beach to the Grotte. We did it in flip-flops I do not advise it. Make sure to wear trainers and don't go on a rainy day as we did haha we only live once
Jaqueline C — Google review
Its better to visit by boat, it's hard (impossible) to get out of a kayak. It's advisable to buy entry ticket in the city (10 euro each) to walk into the cave. Actually we didn't buy (fortunately) tickets, as we went by kayak and wouldn't be able to get out on the wave and concrete docks.

Oasi Biderosa Golfo Di Orosei is a stunning natural reserve located on the east coast of Sardinia, boasting pine forests, sandy coves, and crystal-clear waters. The park features a pond and five beautiful beaches with white sand. Visitors can enjoy hiking trails through the rugged landscape and rent canoes or bicycles to explore the area. The reserve is home to natural granite formations and ancient trees such as junipers, pines, and holm oaks.
A really lovely wild beach with beautiful warm, clear shallow water to swim in. Surrounded by natural park with wonderful wild flowers. It was quiet when we went 1pm on Sunday in late May. Rough track to parking area/beach No 1 but doable. Well worth Euros17 for car and two people. Cafe at beach 3 apparently. Max cars 120 in total.
Eva B — Google review
Very difficult to get to if you don’t have a car. We had to walk from the public bus stop in the next town 3 km away. When arriving it is another 6 km to walk or pay 10 euros per person for their shuttle bus. We booked an umbrella but were told where to sit - right in front of the lifeguard (looked like he was 14 years old!). We thus had to do without the umbrella and got cooked in order to sit where we wanted! Water was nice but the day was roasting and consequently very hot under foot. Beaches fairly crowded even though they are supposed to limit numbers!?! All in all would not recommend the place. There are other great beaches in the area that won’t cost you that much to enjoy a holiday in Sardinia.
Ann L — Google review
What the website doesn’t say : Travelling by car you need to book a parking spot in advance which is often sold out. BUT if you come by 8am and not a minute later : every day there are a few spare parking spots available. Arriving between 9-11am : ask for the navetta or bus transfer service. You can park your car at a designated area, 10! Euro for return ticket. Beach number 2 is the most beautiful and comfortable one. Amazing really amazing aquamarine colour water. No crowds. Never. Best beach in the area. Absolutely.
Akaso A — Google review
Very beautiful spot and not overly crowded. Water was amazing as well and good for snorkeling. Parking is a bit tricky as they’re not many spots but you can also just park on the side of the road
Katharina H — Google review
Oasis 2 beautiful beach, white sand, and crystal clear water. Make sure you have cash for the snack bar and you have to pay for the entrance
House F — Google review
A beautiful, quiet beach. There was a lifeguard on duty. The beach was gently sloped so it was good for little kids. I wish that we'd visited earlier in the week because there were some great hikes. When we were there there were more waves than at other beaches we'd visited. Definitely worth the visit?
Sarah W — Google review
Beautiful beach, they have chairs and umbrellas you can rent for the day. If you plan to drive make sure you reserve parking in advance.

Beaches
Bèrchida beach is a picturesque crescent-shaped sandy stretch that spans about 3 miles and is flanked by dunes, junipers, and pines. The area bears historical significance from the Roman era, with remnants of a settlement and an important port called 'Portus Lugudonis.' This stunning beach offers clear, shallow waters ideal for families with children.
Magnificient beach. One of the best that we have ever been to! Sand is very soft and almost white. Turquoise crystal clear water with perfect visibility. Large parking area. Prices in 2025: 12€ for dull day parking. There are free showers at the entry and few shops and bars. We recommend heading left from the crowds. It takes about 5 minutes walking, but it is definitely worth it. You will have your own piece of beach for yourself only.
Milan B — Google review
Spacious beach with soft white sand and clear water. In summer crowded. Parking space available. Pretty expensive for beach in the middle of nowhere - 12€/day or 2.50€/hour (summer 2025)
Dominika P — Google review
Beautiful beach - super long, water of a color that's so unique to this place, amazing quality sand. Large parking (12€ for a full day), free toilet, and lots of place for everyone to not feel crammed. Definite recommendation!
Kaska K — Google review
This beach is just amazing. The scenery is beautiful and most importantly there is plenty of space if you don’t stop at the entrance. You can just walk to the left from the parking (which costs 12 euros for an entire day or 8 for half a day) and walk until the rocks before the next beach starts.
Adrienne N — Google review
One of my favourite beaches! Lots of space, crystal sea , white sand . There are showers, toilets and a pizza place Also a bar with coffee drinks etc And many shops around For families with kids is perfect as sea is not deep so children can play safe Spacious parking€12 full day Not bad
Andreea — Google review
Great beach – on this trip to Sardinia, coming from the north after the ferry, this was our first stop before Orosei and it turned out to be a perfect choice. Large parking area with fairly reasonable prices, and the beach itself is excellent. The entry into the water is very gentle, and although it wasn’t record-level clear that day because of some floating plants, the water was still, as always in Sardinia, absolutely amazing. Right by the beach you’ll find bars, a larger restaurant, and some stalls selling beach gear and souvenirs. There’s even a decent little shop with women’s beachwear. The sand is soft and pleasant, and that typical Sardinian breeze makes the heat much more bearable and the whole stay very comfortable. As for getting there – the access isn’t nearly as bad as some reviews make it sound. It’s just a gravel road, perfectly manageable even with a small, low car. The road isn’t particularly bumpy, no huge holes, and you don’t need a high suspension vehicle to get here.
Karol K — Google review
Beautiful beach but crowded. If you want to be away from most people you need to walk to the far end where most don't go. The sea is shallow for the first hundred meters or more. White sand everywhere but if you go from the common area be careful where you walk because in some places there are spiky leaves on the ground.
Vislav H — Google review
Huge, there is no cell signal you have wifi that you can pay by card on the beach. We didn’t see any cows. Theres a shower and two places to grab a drink and bite.

Spiaggia di Lu Impostu is a stunning coastal retreat located near Puntaldia, resembling its twin beach, Cala Brandinchi. The area offers both free beach areas and equipped sections with umbrellas, sunbeds, and water sports facilities. Accessible from the parking area are both Lu Impostu beach on the right and Cala Brandinchi on the left, separated by a small forest-covered rocky promontory.
Amazing place. Is a private beach so you have to pay 2 euros per person to go in and parking is 2.50 euros per hour. But worth is as is quiet and beautiful.
Ugo D — Google review
You only have to buy a ticket to access the beach in the summer, we went in mid-may and didnt have to. Only the parking was paid. There is access to spiaggia impostu and brandici from the same parking lot and surprisingly they are quite different. Brandicci had more shallow waters so you could walk fairly ahead with the water still being knee level. There is a small shed to change and use the toilet in brandicci. The water was really calm when we went.
Megna J — Google review
The beach is nothing like it is presented in the photos. The water has a lot of algae and rocks, and the seabed is not entirely fine sand as shown. On the shore, there are many branches and trash, which makes it less enjoyable than expected.
Eleonora — Google review
An ok beach but definitely nothing special. Wouldn't go through all the online booking and parking for the second time

Brandinchi Beach, also known as Little Tahiti, is a stunning and lively beach located north of San Teodoro in Sardinia. It boasts clear, shallow waters that are perfect for snorkeling and safe for swimming. The beach offers a picturesque panorama with views of the island of Tavolara. Surrounded by a pine forest, the contrast between the green vegetation and the blue sea is especially striking from October to May.
Absolutely stunning beach. It is kid-friendly since it is very shallow. Parking is organized. In order to get it, you have to book in advance (about 48 hours prior). They have limited access. Each day at 18:00 they open booking for the second day.
Jose T — Google review
really beautiful beach, I see what all the hype is about as the sand is white and water is clear. however, given you have to pay for both entry and parking, in my opinion the coast has nicer beaches that are less crowded. still worth the experience
Antonia P — Google review
Beautiful water, wonderful view, €2/person for entry, so many people and the beach/sand area is quite narrow. No regular towels are allowed. Only microfiber, plastic or polyester picnic blankets or reed mats. The beach police will 100% check what you laying on because you cannot take sand out of the beach. Very strict rules. Basic restaurant on site, and the GPS had a very hard time to find the main entrance. You need to look for a huge rock on the side of the road saying Cala Brandinchi
Hainalka B — Google review
It’s the 3rd time for us visiting this beach, after 2020 and 2023 and we loved it this time even more. It is just a beautiful setting. Yes it is crowded, yes it is expensive but you know this already by the need for a reservation. My advice is to go early (preferably before 10) and walk north and you won’t have a problem in finding a spot.
Adrienne N — Google review
Good for kids as the water is shallow but gets busy because of that. Is a private beach so you have to pay 2 euros per person and parking is 2.50 euros per hour but is worth itm
Ugo D — Google review
Really nice beach. Most often packed. Limit is around 1470 people. Almost 400 to much. Come early, really early. After 12 its hard to find a spot for towels.
Thomas E — Google review
Beautiful beach with ample parking. We entered through Giardini. Make sure you make reservations in advance!
Ivana H — Google review
Ah, Cala Brandinchi – affectionately known as Little Tahiti, though I suspect Tahiti might file a defamation claim if it saw the place this summer. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the sheer vibrancy of the beach. Not the turquoise water or the golden sand, mind you, but the dazzling array of umbrellas, inflatable flamingos, and the occasional elbow to the ribs. It’s a rare talent to make one feel nostalgic for the peaceful serenity of a rush-hour subway in Milan. The beach itself is… how shall I put it… rich in texture. Every few meters you’ll find delightful surprises: an empty plastic bottle here, a half-buried chip bag there. It’s almost like a scavenger hunt curated by Poseidon himself. For marine life enthusiasts, this is the place to be. Forget aquariums — here, you can witness the majestic Sardinian shark (photographic evidence included). Truly thrilling, especially when one is still in the water. As evening approached, I discovered that leaving the beach with one’s dog can be quite an odyssey. Between the labyrinth of sunbeds and the scent of melted sunscreen, one wonders if Odysseus himself ever tried to find his way back to the car park. And let us not forget the mysterious sea creature that emerged from the depths — an elderly gentleman dressed as a mermaid. I can’t say whether he was a local legend or a performance artist, but I do applaud his commitment to aquatic authenticity. All in all, Cala Brandinchi is the perfect destination for those who enjoy chaos with a touch of mythology. Come for the crowd, stay for the confusion. Five stars for entertainment, two for actual relaxation.

Capriccioli Beach (East) is a charming and picturesque cove with a sandy shoreline, clear waters, and beautiful reddish granite rocks that protect the beach from stronger waves. It's a smaller but super beautiful and peaceful beach, making it a favorite among visitors. The stunning crystal-clear waters make it perfect for soaking up the sun or taking a dip. This beach is also known for being great for snorkeling due to its small size and stunning surroundings.
Very nice beach, parking is literally a 1min walk away from it. The beach club in front of it only opens during the peak season.
On P — Google review
We enjoy this beach. It is on the smaller side paying parking lot walking distance. We were here before the summer not as crowded. Beautiful clear water, there is a beach club walking distance for drinks food and more $$$-$$$$. If you need to use the restroom they do charge $1 Euro for to use it unless you eat at the drink bar or rent the lounge and umbrellas. This beach is good for couples, somewhat families with older children. The only downside the constant annoyance of beach sellers.

Amazing water for snorkeling and swimming; gets busy and crowded very quickly. The Best time is early morning. Parking is not too big, so if you come after 9.30, you might not find a car parking space. There is a small beach on the left hand side and two beaches on the opposite side. It’s very nice and definitely worth visiting!

Visited in october, after 5 p.m. so we found the place to park the car (first hour is ~2.55€/h) the beach is small but cozy, smooth sand and clear water
Maria M — Google review
Beautiful beach that can get crowded fast since there are small bays. Clear and clean water, as most beaches in Sardinia. Parking nearby is 1,50€ per hour and payment is required until Oct 31st.

Really nice beach with cristal clear water and white sand. The parking is close, but small , you may find it full early in summertime

Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di La Maddalena

National park
Nature & Parks
Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di La Maddalena, established in the mid-1990s, is a stunning marine park comprising seven main islands and numerous smaller granite islets off the northeastern coast of Sardinia. Shaped by the prevailing maestrale wind over centuries, the archipelago boasts unique natural sculptures. The outer islands offer breathtaking seascapes best explored by boat, while the main islands exude charm with their sun-soaked buildings and lively holiday ambiance.
Amazing place with breathtaking views, crystal-clear turquoise waters and cosmic-looking rock formations, very much recommend to take a trip
Kama W — Google review
A wonderful place to visit with a low draft sailing boat. The permit cost is 40% cheaper for sailing boats, which is logical and we appreciate that. Powerboats are noisy and generate pollution. The park has hundreds of places where to anchor, pristine and ecologically sound. The park authorities obviously do a good job!
Yachtshape O — Google review
After spending some days at Capo Testa, where we enjoyed snorkeling and discovering a reach underwater life, we decided to take a boat trip to the Maddalena National Park. We were full of expectation, thinking how wonderful it may be snorkeling there. Sailing with the wind in a small crew was a good start, but the the stop at the first cove was very disappointing: we were expected to swim between moving boats, so we risked to see nothing, life under water almost not existing. We were told that since it is September now there is less nautic trafic, but we witnessed every kind of boats coming from all directions and very close to the coves. We anchored in a more quiet and less touristic cove but again underwater life very poor. The day was at the end pleasant because of sailing and a nice skipper and the visit to the Cala Rosa, which is really protected, but we understood that the National Park is not a place to protect nature rather it is a place to make money, a LunaPark for reach tourist. I hope things will change and more ecologic tourism, which still advantage local people, will develop. Instead of taking a boat trip, please look for nice caves along the cost and you will have more fun and save money!😊

Beautiful landscape. Best is island Caprera which is connected to La Maddalena with a bridge. You can do nice walks in the national park.

Extremely clear and turquoise water. It's good to rent a pneumatic boat alone around 270 euros / day in August. From Palau you can walk about an hour to the interesting beaches and the pool area

Just Outstanding. We ALL have to protect these places. Some Plastic Pollution also here, but engaged local People to Clean it!

Beautiful clear water, blue skies almost every day, honestly a perfect place to go on vacation and relax

It is definitely a must see in Sardinia. You need to take a ferry from Palau, but it's absolutely worthy. Beautiful crystal water and sandy beaches

Bonifacio and also the whole south of Corsica are to be seen and experienced in every way. We chose the right place to do it because our holiday in the apartment "Faro di Capo Testa" in the fantastic Bonifacio was just as we wished. The apartment is a tastefully decorated jewel in an extraordinary location in the old downtown of Bonifacio and very well located to reach the key points, restaurants and shops of the town. Although the streets are always full of days and nights, the apartment is very quiet and we really got a good rest each day. A small balcony, overlooking a small square, invites you to have an aperitif in the open air watching the people passing by and admiring the white cliffs located exactly in front of the apartment. The landscape from this point is simply breathtaking and one the best of the town. The cleanliness of the apartment deserves a good 10. Plage de Roccapina is a must-see destination in southern Corsica, overlooked by the iconic Lion of Roccapina rock formation and a Genoese tower. This 400-meter stretch of pristine white sand is nestled at the base of lush green hills, creating a natural amphitheater effect. The beach is bathed in golden sunlight during the day and offers a picturesque setting for relaxation and sunbathing. Visitors can also climb the lion-shaped rock for stunning views of the beach.
Gorgeous white sand beach and blue sea. Not overcrowded when we visited midweek mid September. Access to the beach is off road - it is absolutely fine to drive down as long as you drive slowly so don’t be put off by the other reviews
Sophie H — Google review
This beach comes highly recommended by many, but in my opinion, it is somewhat overrated. When we arrived, the beach was in the condition shown in the photos – more than half of it was unfortunately covered in seaweed. However, there were parts of the beach where this didn't detract from its beauty, allowing us to fully appreciate its charm. The water was excellent, providing a refreshing experience, and the sand was pleasantly soft underfoot. One of the biggest downsides of this beach is the road leading to it. The drive takes about 10 minutes over a very bumpy road. However, I think some of the other reviews exaggerate the difficulty of the journey. While you don't need a special vehicle, as many suggest, it is true that you need to be cautious, especially with a low-clearance car. We saw all kinds of vehicles in the parking lot at the end, including some low-set cars. It just requires careful driving to avoid scraping the bottom of your car. If your vehicle has decent ground clearance and isn't too low, you should manage just fine. The real question is whether the beach is worth the effort. Lastly, there's the neighboring beach, Plage de Erbaju, which is much larger and visible on the map. It’s said that you can walk to it from this beach, but we didn’t find any clearly marked paths. The paths through the bushes near the parking area were very overgrown, and while it might be possible to make the trek, it would likely be challenging, especially if you're carrying items or have children with you. We contacted the exclusive restaurant on that beach, and they informed us that it is a private beach, only accessible by reservation and without children. So, perhaps if you walk there, you might be able to enjoy the beach, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to.
Karol K — Google review
Be careful, you need to take a gravel road to go next to this beautiful beach. Alternatively one can park the car in the main street and walk to the beach for about 30 minutes. The water is crystal clear. A true beautiful beach. There's nothing around, don't forget to bring your own drinks and food.
F. Z — Google review
The beach itself is nice but can be overcrowded (23 of July), the water was more refreshing than on other beaches. The road to the beach is overestimated in terms of difficulty, we did it on VW Touran without any issues - just cautious and attentive drive and some experience of driving on unpaved terrain.
Oleg S — Google review
The best beach of the entire Corsica, amazing is a big pool thin sand very light color and water calm and warmer
Giorgio F — Google review
Had no issue driving on the road in my Ford Fiesta. The beach was stunning and crystal clear. Keep in mind that the sand is very fine and in case of wind it is a bit annoying because the sand becomes airborne.
Robin K — Google review
The beach is indeed amazing, it was crowded when we arrived and wow, if you’re in a car with a chassis low to the ground and more than 2 travelers GOOD LUCK driving down from the main road T40. We were 2 in a standard vehicle but we followed a long line of cars with passengers that had to get out of the car at every “bump”. I’m amazed that roads like this even exist without a warning sign but they in fact do so know before you go, the voyage down and back up IS A SAFARI, you’re best off in an SUV or a 4x4. The people who choose to walk down from the main parking lot have a 30-45 minute hike dodging cars that are making their way up and down. It’s definitely not the most ideal way to end a day at the beach. That being said, amazing views, nicer voyage for those traveling by yacht or catamaran I imagine 😉
Sydney M — Google review
This is a really beautiful beach. It’s not the biggest and you can only reach it down a terrible potholed track but it’s perfect if you like undeveloped beaches. Soft white sand and a crystal clear turquoise sea with small waves. There are several places to park. Some better than others. It’s very busy during the July and August period but it’s more peaceful in the off peak months. And of course there is the Roccapina lion rock overlooking the bay.

Santa Giulia Beach is a popular swimming spot located in a bay with clear, shallow waters and pristine white sand. The beach is adorned with huge red granite rocks and offers easy access, making it perfect for families. Surrounded by lush countryside, the translucent waters are calm and ideal for children to swim. Additionally, the nearby treeline provides plenty of shade.
NOT THE ONE AND ONLY, but definitely ONE OF THE BEST. Why? Heaven on earth, just too many people. Other than that, simply stunning ❤️ Powdery white sandy beaches with crystal clear water like in the best Caribbean places in the world. There is everything available for entertainment that you could think of, from bars, to beach clubs, to restaurants and hotels to gadgets of any kind. COME EARLY to get a good spot on the beach. Beach clubs are between 35-60 per person and mostly fully booked with waiting lists. SNORKELING is just great there. The water is safe and mostly shallow. We spotted a ton of fish from small to medium, starfishes, and even various STINGRAYS. a dream come true for anyone with kids. PARKING is easy if you go to a beach club. Otherwise use dedicated private parking for EUR 8.-, which is fair for a spot in high demand like this one. There is a ton of things more to say, however better just try for yourself or put in a question as a comment. Have fun.

Absolutely stunning beach , the water is crystal clear and the backdrop of tees around the bay is glorious. Some fabulous beaches bars too. We recommend La Plage and Le Fort. The downside is it gets super busy in peak season. If you have to go in August go early morning, if you are lucky enough to go late September, you will be in paradise !
Lyndele F — Google review
Lovely beach, but very crowded and the parking costs 20€ 🤨. Also some places full of seagrass. But water is clean, no big waves.
Alesia G — Google review
A bit crowded, but nice water and actual sand. I don't like jetskies or parasailing, makes the natural experience bad. I liked the good bars on the beach to have lunch.
Arne Z — Google review
The beach consists of a long narrow strip of fine clean sand (between 10m and 30m in width), skirting a bay of very shallow clear water which extends at least 50 m from the shoreline. The setting is hardly spectacular but the peninsula making up the South side of the bay provides a pretty backdrop. On a fine sunny weekday afternoon towards the end of September the beach was busy, but not oppressively so. All the usual water sports/activities were available and the beach is also a drop-off/pick-up point for cruises along the coast. Various bars - none very special - are dotted along the central part of the beach, closest to the parking areas. Was it quiet or romantic : no, would it be a fine place for small children to paddle in the water : emphatically yes. In line with the reports from other reviewers, I can easily imagine that it would be an absolute zoo in July and August.

Great beach in the south of Corsica. Very overrated in my opinion. Very expensive ar park, flat rate 10 pounds. A lot of bars on the beach which kind of ruins the experience. It can be quite crowded as well. Clean water lovely views. Great for kids.

Palombaggia is a stunning beach located in the southeast of Corsica, known for its clear waters and white sand. The area offers various water activities such as diving, jet skiing, and sailing sports. It serves as an ideal starting point for excursions and cruises to nearby beaches like Cerbicales Islands and Bay of Santa Giula.
This beach is pretty hyped up around here, but to be honest, it didn't really blow us away. You'll definitely find at least four bars and restaurants nearby, so there's no shortage of places to grab a bite or a drink. The beach itself varies in width along its stretch, so whether you're looking for a cozy spot or a wider area to lay out a bit further from the water, you’ve got options. If you're just in the mood for a quick beer, a drink, or maybe some ice cream for the kids, I'd really recommend hitting up the smaller stands tucked away near the trees close to the big hotels or standalone restaurants. Prices there are seriously like half of what you’d pay at the bigger spots.
Karol K — Google review
Beautiful clean water, with some parts more crowded than others. Parking for free is tricky, better either choose a beachclub if you plan to eat anyways (parking fees will be deducted), or there are large cheap parkings at the north eastern end.

Great beach, turquoise water and it was not crowded but parking is ridiculously expensive, 35 eur for 5 hours on the beach or in best case 11.20 eur for 4 hours. And then you have to walk 600 meters downhill and coming back to the car is a real training. There is one bar and one restaurant with prices for Space tourism

I went there very much at the end of the season. No problem parking plenty of place on the beach. Temperature was perfect for me. Could still get a drink. I appreciate others may have different experiences if they go in July or August but has to be one of the most stunning beaches in France.

Plage de Saleccia, located on the northern coast of Corsica, is often hailed as one of the most picturesque beaches in Europe. With its white sand, turquoise waters, and lush vegetation, it's no wonder this idyllic spot was chosen as a filming location for The Longest Day in 1962. Accessible by boat taxi from St. Florent or a scenic drive from Casta, this half-mile stretch of undeveloped coastline offers a serene escape.
Beautiful beautiful beach!! Truly stunning, feels like a tropical island. Only thing I’d say is walk down far to your right to feel like your away from the crowds + arrive around 2 and leave round 6/7 in late august + boats are expensive so expect to have 40/50 euro
LOUDHOUSE — Google review
We went to Plage Saleccia after seeing Bodri Beach, and this one is also lovely with soft white sand and very clear water. It was a bit busier though, with more boats, yachts and people around, so it didn’t feel quite as calm. It calmed down in the late afternoon as people were starting to take the return boats. We got there by boat, which was nice. Just a small tip: book early enough, and if you use GetYourGuide it’s worth checking with the operator directly to make sure your ticket is in order.
Eric H — Google review
Just an amazing beach! The sand is superb, the water is azure, and the wind is calm. However, you can't really get there easily: the "road" is 6 euro and if you don't have a tall 4x4 it's better not to go there. On the beach there's no toilet or change room, so be ready to share some of your secrets. It's not a lot of people, though.
Vlad K — Google review
Much better than the Lotu beach for sure. Nicer to swim and enjoy the beach with less people. The trip back with zodiac was also a nice occasion, for which it's kind of a must for the return.
Mustafa U — Google review
Fantastic beach. I like the way to get there. There is no road. But with a motorcycle or a 4x4 car you can get there. The beach is very clean. The sand is fine but not more fine than on the other side like at Bastia. You can be shure that everyone on this beach has made a special effort to come here. There are sometime cows on thr beach. The cows like to play with some visitors. This plage is one of the most difficult to get there.
Reviewer C — Google review
Nice beach, but nothing ‘special’, loads of nice beaches in Corsica that do not require an hour off-road driving (10 kms) to get too! A nice sandy long beach, but the snorkeling was disappointing. Maybe a visit by boat would be the best option.
Nigel M — Google review
This beach is extraordinary special and located very nice. The scenery is just great. Clear water and white sand makes you feel like in the Caribbean. During the main season it's often crowded, but still worth a visit. You can go by 4 wheel drive from Casta or by boat from St. Florent. Or by your own car, and without 4 wheel drive it will take some hours to do down the earth road. Close to the beach there's the famous camping site and on the other end of the beach a very nice beach restaurant hidden in the pines. Definitely with a visit.
Daniel B — Google review
One of Corsica’s finest beaches—and worth every bit of effort to reach it. Getting there isn’t easy, but it is doable with a standard rental (we managed in an Opel Corsa). Allow roughly 45 minutes for the drive; the road is bumpy, rocky, unpaved in most places, and requires slow, careful navigation but the standard ride height is enough for this road (full cover recommended tho) Your reward? Sweeping turquoise water, powder-soft sand, and the unforgettable sight of white cows lazing right on the shoreline. A small beach bar serves snacks and cold drinks; card payments are accepted for purchases over €20. Tip: start early to avoid the midday rush, and keep an eye on your fuel—there are no services along the final stretch. Enjoy the adventure and the view!

Corsica Ferries Bastia

Corsica Ferries Bastia is a popular destination in the north of Corsica, strategically important for its proximity to mainland France and Italy. The city offers a delightful atmosphere with numerous cafes, restaurants, and colorful streets. It's also a great spot for mountain biking enthusiasts due to its breathtaking scenery between seas and mountains.
Excellent boat, very modern, service no delays, efficient and friendly staff.
Rob S — Google review
I was looking forward to our six and a half hour journey from Bastia to Nice on Corsica Ferries, but I must admit it turned out to be a terrible experience. The staff were extremely unhelpful and miserable. It was as if they were being made to work and didn't want to. Their attitude was abysmal. The food, which I expect to be expensive on a ferry, truly was expensive with a 500ml bottle of still water costing €2.90. The music on the sundeck was far too loud and someone somewhere kept flicking from track to track part way through a song. The dreadful music is not necessary in this day and age where passengers can choose to listen to what they like on their smartphones. All in all I'm glad I won't be travelling with Corsica ferries ever again.

The worst crossing ever with this company on Mega Express 5. The personnel were unprofessional and unhelpful. The smell of sewage throughout the accommodation was overpowering. The staff in the Gusto restaurant overcharged for drinks and refused to reimburse the difference. No more than theft. They refused to call a supervisor when requested. The vessel is old and in very poor condition. Flooring is filthy, cabin in need of repair and the structure on the car decks showing signs of cracks.

My suggestions for improvement: The staff on the Livorno ferry could definitely be friendlier. A more polite manner and greater willingness to assist would significantly enhance the travel experience. The ferry seems to be in an outdated condition and requires renovation. New carpets, chairs, and overall modern furnishings would uplift the onboard ambiance. If dogs are allowed on board, appropriate facilities should be provided for them. Artificial grass and clean disposal options for dog waste would be a welcome improvement. The conditions of the onboard sanitary facilities are unacceptable. Cleanliness and hygiene should be top priorities and urgently improved. Surveys should inquire about the status of the pool if it is actually in operation. The information should be current and relevant. The website is also in need of improvement to better inform customers about the services and the condition of the ferry. The Wi-Fi code didn't work, which was a frustrating experience. Likewise, the booked Express Boarding did not function as expected. My opinion on the crossing: Overall, my experience on this ferry was disappointing. The staff's rudeness, the poor condition of the facilities, non-functional Wi-Fi, and the disappointing Express Boarding all marred the experience. The cabins were acceptable, and I appreciate the honesty of the staff when my wallet was found in one of the cabins. Boarding in Bastia went smoothly, and the staff there were more polite. Nevertheless, there is an urgent need for improvements on this ferry to justify the high prices. The information on the website should be updated to better inform future passengers and avoid disappointments.

Ferry from Nice to Bastia was nice. Onboarding was super fast. Room was clean , food was ok. It was quite fast. We reached quite fast, less than 9 hrs. Overall really good experience

Set off late by about 20 minutes and arrived at Bastia port on Corsica at about 1 am instead of 11 pm, but the voyage was smooth and the sunset was awesome.

I took the ferry to Bastia and back. 1. The WiFi does not work at all. DON'T PAY FOR IT 2. The bathrooms were extremely FILFTHY they are not cleaned during or between the trips. It was absolutely disgusting. 3. Smell of diesel was everywhere I almost vomit.

This outdoor theater hosts an annual Andrea Bocelli concert, plus a statue that changes yearly.
Amazing atmosphere definetely. Too much traffic on concert day. Concert actually starts around 21:00 and assume long traffic to reach P2 parking. Good to be prepared for chill weather or rain drops. You park and walk in rural area so wear comfy shoes. Parking entrance with either online booking from Viva Tickets site (but they close the sales on the day) or cash (15 Euros in 2025) so be prepared

A wonderful concert by Andrea Bocelli and friends in a lovely setting. A big disadvantage though are the queues for the toilets. Simply not enough. Trying to get a drink was a disaster! You have to queue for a long time to pay for the drinks and then join a longer queue to collect them. A totally inadequate and unsuitable system with not enough staff. It took over an hour to get a drink! That's simply unacceptable. I would rather go to another venue with better facilities and a more efficient system.

My second time at an Andrea Bocelli concert. The overall experience was beautiful as always, but logistics still need work. • Toilets: 10/10 — finally well organized and clean. • Bars: 5/10 — waited nearly an hour just to get a glass of prosecco. • Shuttle buses: 1/10 — chaotic and slow, took almost two hours to reach the parking lot after the show.

Very nice open area Theater. Big parking place. Good performance from maestro Bocelli.

It's our first time at Andrea Bocelli concert in Teatro del Silenzio. The vineyard, the welcome drinks and finger food, the fantastic chauffeur driving skills, the excitement, the experience of the journey climaxing finally when the concert began. We extend our gratitude to Arianna & Friends for perfectly organising our trip and without any hiccup, super job 👍🏾 The concert, you've got to experience it yourself as words hasn't been invented yet to describe it's fabulousness ❤️

Attention! Eat something before and try to get water in by yourself. There are only a few food stands and drinks. You have to wait one hour to pay, another hour for your water and another hour for food. Even during the show. It's terribly organized. Never seen such a bad organization.

Located in the Square of Miracles, Battistero di San Giovanni is a stunning medieval baptistery that often goes unnoticed next to its towering neighbors. This round building boasts an impressive interior with a baptism font at its center and offers a unique vantage point from its top floor overlooking the cathedral. Constructed in the 12th century in Romanesque style, it features Gothic and Renaissance influences as well.
It was my first time visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and I honestly didn’t expect it to be so impressive. It was much bigger than I imagined, and the whole experience felt magical. Seeing it in real life is truly something special—it’s definitely a must-see! The atmosphere around the tower is lively and full of charm. A unique landmark that leaves a lasting impression

Such a beautiful place. We were lucky that the choir began singing while we were on the upper level and the acoustics were incredible. The sound seemed to come from every direction at once. The building is well maintained and the crowds not bad at all. Don't just come to see the tower. This chapel is a must visit

A beautifully designed baptistery with impressive acoustics and elegant Romanesque-Gothic architecture. The interior is simple yet majestic, and the echo demonstration is a lovely highlight for visitors.

Didn't have a time for visit this place but from pictures i saw it seems quite empty inside and very simple. From outside its quite impressive though, 55 m high and 107 m in circumference, one of the largest in the World. Echo inside is very unique and its worth to hear the crew demonstration of this exquisite acoustic every 30min.

Visiting the Battistero di San Giovanni was an unforgettable experience that left me in awe of its rich history and breathtaking architecture. The intricate details of the interior, from the gilded ceiling to the marble columns, showcase centuries of artistry and devotion. Standing beneath the frescoes, I felt a deep connection to the cultural and spiritual heritage that this place represents. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere inside remained reverent and inspiring, offering a true sense of serenity. This landmark is not only a masterpiece of design but also a living testament to Florence’s enduring legacy

The Baptistery of Saint John (Italian: Battistero di San Giovanni) is a baptistery in Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. It is an outstanding monument of Italian Romanesque and Gothic architecture and sculpture. Construction began in 1152 and was completed in 1363. Chronologically, it is a later structure than the Pisa Cathedral and an earlier one than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Guliola L — Google review
It was a great place to see along with the rest of the monuments in the plaza. Fair warning, beware of the people selling things that are not at a stand. If the police are walking around they will hide what they are selling and close their bags and head the opposite direction. It is really comical. The building itself has a lot of history and the inside is beautiful.

The building was amazing but everything else lacked in excitement. There was only one fountain open to obtain water to drink. Nothing else was open. I was under tge influence that there was access to the hot springs for wading but that wasn't the case. I did catch a local orchestra practicing. Honestly, that was the highlight of that visit

The Piazza of miracles' is indeed filled with miracles of architecture. We visited them all. Get a full ticket from the Sinopie Museum. It will give you a set time for the Leaning Tower on day of purchase, while you have a year to visit all other locations! Piazza del Duomo is one of the most breathtaking squares in the world — a true masterpiece of harmony, art, and faith. Surrounded by the Cathedral, Baptistery, Leaning Tower, and Camposanto, every corner shines with elegance and history. It's its walls were lined with apostles and followers of Jesus. Make sure you catch the show output at noon. The bells ring the mechanical figures put on a lovely show in the piazza. The Tower of Pisa, also known as Torre Pendente di Pisa, is a stunning 14th-century structure in Italy that has gained worldwide fame for its distinctive lean. The tower originally leaned at a dramatic angle of 5.5 degrees but extensive restoration work has reduced the lean to less than 4.0 degrees.
This was an amazing experience as one of the marvels of the world. To see this building leaning in its original form after centuries as it stands. The site has been well preserved. The line to go up the top was relatively short for an attraction in Italy. During the winter when I came the weather is cool in the morning but perfect by midday especially to stand in lines.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most iconic and fascinating landmarks in the world a true symbol of Italy’s charm and history. Seeing it in person is an incredible experience; its famous tilt is even more striking and impressive than photos can capture. The white marble gleams beautifully under the sun, and the detailed Romanesque architecture is simply stunning. Climbing to the top is an unforgettable experience. As you ascend the spiral staircase, you can actually feel the tower’s tilt, which adds a sense of adventure and wonder. Once at the top, the panoramic view of Pisa and the surrounding Tuscan landscape is breathtaking. The tower is part of the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), surrounded by other magnificent monuments like the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Baptistery, all of which are worth exploring. The area has a lively, joyful atmosphere with cafés, souvenir shops, and green lawns perfect for photos and relaxing. Whether you come for history, architecture, or just the fun of taking the classic “holding up the tower” photo, the Leaning Tower of Pisa never disappoints. It’s a place full of charm, beauty, and a sense of wonder that makes every visit truly special.

Iconic, Beautiful, and Worth the Hype (Visited in September 2025) I visited the Leaning Tower of Pisa in September 2025, and it was every bit as impressive as I hoped. Seeing it in person — slightly tilted yet perfectly balanced — was surreal. The weather was warm and sunny, perfect for walking around the Piazza dei Miracoli and taking photos without feeling rushed. Climbing the tower was an unforgettable experience. The marble steps are worn and slanted from centuries of use, and as you ascend, you can actually feel the lean — it’s both thrilling and slightly dizzying! The view from the top is absolutely worth it, offering panoramic views of Pisa and the surrounding Tuscan landscape. The area can be busy with tourists, but if you go early in the morning or later in the afternoon, it’s much quieter. The cathedral and baptistery nearby are also stunning and definitely worth exploring. Overall: A must-see once in your lifetime. The Leaning Tower of Pisa isn’t just a famous landmark — it’s a masterpiece of history, architecture, and human perseverance.

Pisa is a charming and historic city that truly captures the spirit of Italy. Famous for its iconic Leaning Tower, the city offers much more than just that – beautiful architecture, cozy streets, and a relaxing atmosphere. The locals are friendly, the food is delicious, and there’s a lovely mix of culture and calmness throughout the city. Whether you come for sightseeing, photography, or simply to enjoy authentic Italian vibes, Pisa is definitely worth visiting. A small city with a big heart — unforgettable and full of beauty! 🇮🇹✨

Before I went to visit, I thought it would be overrated, old and uninteresting, but when I got there, I was completely wowed! The tower and surrounding buildings have been maintained in such a pristine way that they look like they were built last week. For a building that is over 850 years old, it sure has aged well. The scale and lean of the tower is unbelievable and cannot be felt from pictures. This is a must visit when you are in Italy. It is truly a majestic sight.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an absolute blast to visit! Seeing it in person is way more impressive than any photo, and the tilt is even more dramatic up close. The best part? Getting creative with photos! We had so much fun “holding it up,” pretending to push it over, leaning against it, or even putting it in an ice cream cone — endless silly opportunities for memories and laughs. The surrounding Piazza dei Miracoli is beautiful too, with the cathedral and baptistery making the perfect backdrop. Even just walking around and soaking in the architecture is a treat. Tip: bring your camera and a playful attitude — it’s all about the fun angles and perspective tricks. Crowds can get busy, so a little patience helps to get your perfect shot. Visiting the Leaning Tower isn’t just sightseeing — it’s a joyful, hands-on experience that’s perfect for families, friends, and anyone who loves a little photo fun. Definitely one of the most memorable stops in Italy!

Iconic- such an amazing view. I loved this place but so crowded. I would recommend visiting the museum next to the tower of Pisa to get an amazing view with minimal people spoiling your photos. Also there is a restaurant in this museum and you get a stunning view. Recommend climbing the tower of Pisa that was amazing make sure you are willing to climb as can be tiring. Trainers recommended for the climb.

Had a lovely time here. The tower itself has a beautiful view when you're at the top. The steps are slippery tho so be careful aspecially when walking back down. The cathedral is gorgeous also on the inside. We bought tickets that included entree to all buildings and museums and also walked the walls of pisa all the way (which was quite long). Cattedrale di Pisa, also known as the Cathedral of Pisa or Santa Maria Assunta, is a grand marble-striped cathedral famous for its ornate Romanesque bronze doors and a carved 1300s pulpit. Initially built as the freestanding bell tower for the nearby Duomo di Pisa, it began to lean due to unstable soil during construction in the 12th century.
After visiting Cathedral of Florence i was very surprised by interior decoration here. Very rich and beautiful in comparison to Florence. Spent more than 40min here to admire every detail. Paintings, statues, woodwork, mosaics, frescos, everything in superb condition like it wasn't build 900 years ago. Very pleasant surprise. It was beautifully restored in 2018.

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, San Gimignano is a captivating medieval village that has earned its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This enchanting destination invites visitors to step back in time with its well-preserved historic buildings and stunning skyline, characterized by impressive towers that once symbolized the rivalry among towns to reach new heights. Among these architectural marvels, Torre Grossa stands tall at 54 meters, representing the town's historical wealth and power.
San Gimignano is like a more compact version of Sienna. It's a small medieval town that is just lovely to visit! Walking along the streets of this place is like taking me back centuries ago, traversing the same narrow and rolling alleys of this magnificent town. The towers were said to be a sign of wealth back then. Only a couple remain but one can only imagine the awe of people witnessing these colossal structures. Definitely a must visit place in Italy!

San Gimignano is the reason we came back to Tuscany after visiting it last yearfor a few hours, while driving through Tuscany. Beautiful walled medieval town, that was originally restored in 1800s, and probably the biggest attraction in Tuscany. The towers were a sign of wealth, and the taller the tower, the wealthier the family that owned them. They were originally built as protection against marauding neighboring townspeople, street scuffs, etc. these towers were connected to the residences of the owners. You can climb the tallest tower in town, for 7 Euros.

A medieval open space at the heart of the uniquely beautiful city of San Gimignano. The piazza, like the rest of the place, feels like it's frozen in time. One can imagine how these folks with their horses going about their business during those days. The atmosphere in the morning is peaceful and if you enjoy your running, this city has many interesting elevation to add to your training. The cobblestone is another challenge that keeps you vigilant and to train your foot placement. Expect loads of visitors as the day approach to lunch and dinner. Food and drinks (wine & beer) are tops, as the Italians are proud of their traditional culinary and wine culture.

The Piazza della Cisterna is one of the most beautiful and famous squares in San Gimignano, a medieval town .since the 1990s the square — and San Gimignano as a whole — has become quite touristy. During the main travel season, it can feel crowded, with many souvenir shops and large tour groups. Still, early mornings or late evenings often bring back the magic of its medieval charm.

This was actually my favorite piazza in San Gimignano. It's the one with the old cistern, or well. There's always a bunch of people sitting on it as they do on the steps in other public squares. What's unusual is that this square is really in the shape of a triangle. You'll also see the Devil's Tower near the cistern. It has been said that the owner returned to find his tower taller than it was when he left it. Lol! That's kind of spooky. What I loved most about this medieval piazza is the famous gelato shop. It was a historical and tasty experience.

Historical & Beautiful square in the centre of San Gimignano I love medieval city and SG did not disappoint. In fact it is famous for the tower but some of the little square that are in the town are really amazing. I highly recommend coming here, this city is great and perched so looks really great from the roads below.

The most beautiful piazza in San Gimignano that gets very crowded during the day, but turns into a fairy tale after sunset (if you have accomodation inside the old city, you can enjoy such beauty). It is filled with history, dark stories, but is also nicely kept. And if you want to try "la dolce vita", just buy some Riserva wine in a restaurant nearby, sit and enjoy the view, the changing lights, the music (in summer, there are concerts nearby) and the wine.

If you want to visit the cave I would recommend to book the tour in advance or at least call them up the day before. We arrived to the town where the information desk was at 12:00 and were informed the last group had already left on the bus to see the cave at 11:00. For some reason, they had they last guided tour at 11am, which was extremely strange and there was no info on their website that said that prior reservation was required. It took us an hour to get to the place, so we were obviously a little disappointed. It could have been a great experience, but alas. Make your reservation ahead of time!

This is out of the beaten path attraction. You park near the ticket office and reach the cave by a bus (included in the tickets). You can only enter with a guided tour of about 2-2.5 hours. You can combine it with a 45 minute tour to the mercury mine nearby. Not all guides are fluent in English, but you can check this with the park by emails (and reserve a spot). There is a small kiosk at the cave entrance.

The guide knew was he was talking about. There is no more audioguide for non Italian speakers. The guide will do both language, which is a considerate and good thing. The downside is we sometimes couldn't hear because we were too far behind. There is not much time to appreciate the last part of the cave since we must follow the group. Devil's Bridge

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Devil's Bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge over the Serchio river, constructed in 1100 AD for medieval pilgrims. It is a steep structure that blends well with its rocky surroundings and is easily accessible without any special skills or clothing. The bridge has been well maintained over time and offers a pleasant resting spot for travelers passing through the area. On clear days, visitors can enjoy the reflection of the bridge in the calm waters of the river.
Ponte del Diavolo is a stunning place-full of history, mystery, and breathtaking views. Whether you’re interested in medieval architecture or just want to enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by nature, it’s truly worth a visit.

A historical and beautiful bridge right on the side of the road in the mountains. If you're in or around Lucca and planning to see some mountains and nature, I'd recommend having a quick stop at Ponte della Maddalena. Parking is easy on the east/right side of the Bridge. Not too crowded when visiting in the middle of the day. If you're also looking for a pitstop or a quick lunch, three small osterias/restaurants are right next to the bridge.

The Devil’s Bridge is an absolute marvel of architecture — a structure that feels both timeless and awe-inspiring. The craftsmanship is remarkable, and standing on it, you can’t help but admire the ingenuity that went into building something so bold in such a dramatic setting. What makes it truly special, though, is the feeling when you reach the top. The view opens up around you, and for a moment it’s as if you’re standing at the very top of the world. There’s a mix of exhilaration and serenity that makes the experience unforgettable. Whether you’re drawn by history, architecture, or simply the promise of a breathtaking view, the Devil’s Bridge delivers on all fronts. It’s one of those rare places where the journey up is just as memorable as the sight from the top.

A bridge that captures history, has many story's and is an architectural delight. We try to pass by a few times a year to relive the history of days gone by.

The Funicolare di Montecatini, also known as the Montecatini Funicular, offers a unique and enjoyable way to explore the city. This cable car system transports visitors from Montecatini Terme to Montecatini Alto, providing access to the historic village and stunning panoramic views of the area. The steep incline of 39.5% adds an exciting element to the experience.
Like a fairytale. Old coupe goes up and down every half an hour. On the hill there is a great view on Montecatini and a big number of caffes and restaurants. Very romantic and prestige.

Riding the funicolare to the top of the mountain is totally worth it!! While you are up there- explore the small medieval village! The view is fabulous! 👍❤️

Great experience—definitely recommend! The return ticket was €7 per person, and absolutely worth it. Montecatini Alto felt like stepping back in time. I absolutely loved it! 🥰
Teodora D — Google review
It was a fun, relaxing ride, you have plenty of information available on the spot regarding its history an elevation angles. And the view from Montecatini Alto is magnificent. The funicular program makes it hard to miss the experience (it is open until 24.00).
R S — Google review
The journey is gentle and slow enough to be able to enjoy the view. Staff were friendly and a return ticket is €7. We enjoyed our visit to Montecatini Alto, there are several small shops and a central square with restaurants, a bar, and Gelato shop. lots of outdoor seating and shade in a medieval village.

If you're in Montecatini then you should visit Montecatini Alto using the Furnicular! This is the mountain Railcar that takes you up to the small town with big views! Trains run every 30mins all day and night (not overnight) and tickets cost €7.50

This was a really nice experience. If your in this region of Italy, then you must try it

A lovely little ride up/down the mountain in a historic funicular car. The cost for a round-trip/return ticket is €7.50, and the cars run on the hour and half-hour until midnight (see the attached schedule). Walking up the Alto is quite a trek (I did it and was certainly out of breath by the top), so save yourself the trouble and take this!

Built by Count Cesare Mattei, it boasts a whimsical mix of Moorish, medieval, and Italian architectural styles. Visitors can explore the palace during weekend visits and enjoy concerts, exhibitions, and events. The tour provides interesting and thorough information about the history and architecture of the castle. However, some visitors feel that the guided tour is too short and strictly timed.

Wow, what a wonderfully unique and electic castle. Fabulous design and wonderful trompe l'oeil. Definitely a dream brought to life. You have to join a tour - you cannot just wandering through the castle at your own pace, because it's a bit of a maze. However, we were given plenty of opportunity to photograph the rooms and views (stunning!) Our tour was in Italian, but our fabulous guide Alexandra translated key points for us, and there are information boards/signs in every room, explaining key points. Highly recommended!
Lynn R — Google review
It’s an interesting tour, especially if Alessandra is your guide! She makes the whole visit a great experience. Keep in mind you need to book in advance, and it is open only during the weekends (at least for now).
Elisa C — Google review
Very beautiful, but it is 5 of 7 days in week closed.. and now there is reconstruction, so not that beautiful at all. :)
Honza S — Google review
Our guide, Alessandra, was amazing. In our group we were the only ones (four of us) who didn't speak Italian and she took the time to explain things in English after speaking in Italian to the rest of the group. She had great energy and clearly loves her job. The castle is a visual treat, and quite lovely. Thanks Alessandra for making our day a memorable one!

Authentic castle from the period of 19th century. 🏰 Rocchetta Mattei is like something out of a fantasy novel—an eclectic, whimsical castle nestled in the Apennine Mountains of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It’s not just a feast for the eyes, but a place steeped in eccentric history and curious science. 🌟 Highlights of the Castle - Architectural Mash-Up: The castle blends styles from Medieval, Gothic, Moorish, and Art Nouveau traditions. Think turrets, mosaics, and labyrinthine staircases that make every corner feel like a new discovery. - Count Cesare Mattei: The mastermind behind the castle, Mattei was a self-taught physician and inventor of electrohomeopathy, a controversial medical practice. He laid the first stone in 1850 and lived there like a medieval noble, complete with a court jester. - Famous Visitors: The castle attracted royalty and intellectuals from across Europe, including Ludwig III of Bavaria and Alexander II of Russia. Even Dostoevsky mentioned Mattei in The Brothers Karamazov. 🛠️ Restoration & Rebirth - After WWII, the castle fell into disrepair. It was later revived thanks to local efforts and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna, reopening to the public in 2015. - Today, it’s managed by the Comune di Grizzana Morandi and hosts guided tours, concerts, weddings, and cultural events. 📍 Visiting Tips - Booking is mandatory due to the castle’s maze-like layout and guided tour format. - It’s about a 45-minute drive from Bologna, making it a perfect day trip. - Nearby gems include the village of La Scola, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta by Alvar Aalto, and the Giorgio Morandi Home Museum. If you ever get the chance to visit, it’s not just a castle—it’s a storybook come to life.

Beautiful architecture and a splendid collection of old musical instruments. All visits are guided, helping a lot in understanding the incredible and mysterious history of the place. Highly recommended.

Found it while browsing places to visit in the area. We arrived there without reservation, but the lady at the ticket shop squeezed us into a tour with only 15min waiting time - thanks for that! The castle itself is very picturesc, with sometimes unbelievable amounts of details to discover. We enjoyed the stay a lot!
