Finse is a charming locality situated in the mountainous region of Ulvik municipality in Vestland county, Norway. Positioned on the picturesque lake Finsevatnet, this area is best known for its Finse station, which stands as the highest station within the Norwegian railway system at an impressive elevation of 1,222 meters above sea level. Whether you're cycling along Rallarvegen or opting to stay overnight in Finse, a visit to the Rallar museum is highly recommended.

Small but perfectly designed folk museum. Lovely walk outside where you could take the dog but had to leave him in the car to visit the inside exhibits. Tiny cafe. Gift shop had some interesting items.
Tania H — Google review
Interesting museum about Norwegian houses and how they live in the last centuries. Houses are real, rebuilded on site. And an extra for kinds: behind the main build a little hike for active play
Fabri D — Google review
Interesting place to get to know the norwegian way of life in the Sogn area. Museum inside gives a lot of information, the houses outside gives a feeling of how people lived during the centuries since ca 1500.
Ellen — Google review
We saw the sign on the street and the museum was a good surprise! The guides were super friendly and helpful.
David C — Google review
Very interesting museum. Three flours indoors about daily life in Norway in the last few centuries. And outside you can see the inside of the old houses. There are several places that don't have an English translation for the Norwegian texts next to the exhibitions. There are also several short walks with explanations about nature, but yet again without English translation. I do recommend taking a visit here. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete.
Sara M — Google review
Museum covering Norwegian rural folk life over the ages. Inside exhibition of artifacts of farming and folk costumes, outside there are historic buildings and houses that have been moved to the site. Well done guided tour was enlivened by a ninety year old lady who lived the old ways and has seen all changes to modern times. 👍
Ian H — Google review
Nice place to walk through including exhibition. All about living in Norway in the last 200 years
Jan-Willem J — Google review
Excellent visit. Very interesting and the guides were brilliant. Really enjoyed singing a Norwegian song in the old school.

A nice and well conserved stave church, surrounded by its cemetery. The building was closed when I visited, so I couldn't see the inside, but it just looked nice from the outside anyway :)
Marjorie L — Google review
Absolutely stunning! Closed for renovations (they were painting the exterior mid-April 2025), but still cool to walk around! There is an electric fence, but it’s to keep the deer out! Just enter through the gate, and close it behind you.
J L — Google review
It's closed and surrounded by 5feet high electric fence but you can still see it well from outside and admire it.
Strawberry M — Google review
Interesting building dating back 12 century, only 28 of these churches left in Norway, if you get the opportunity to visit one do so.
Sid N — Google review
Nice church at a cemetery, flowers at every grave. Access costs 220 NOK for a family and 200 NOK for a book about the stave churches. See it as cultural heritage support.
Jan-Willem J — Google review
Beautiful church with a beautiful backdrop
Tori H — Google review
A fascinating church in the middle of this little town, where there is no place for eating. Entrance costs 7€ maybe expensive for one church, but It Is very beautiful, after that we suggest walking to Amla and if you need ti buy something catch a bus to Sogndal.
Antonio N — Google review
A beautiful little stave church. Unfortunately we arrived too early to go inside (opens at 10:00) but it is located in a beautiful place. (Everywhere in Norway is beautiful though) There is a little gravel parking lot to the right of the building and graveyard. The oldest gravestone was from the middle of the 17th century.

Amazing Tour! Our Guide Jack was so lovely. He was in such a good mood and really spread motivation and energy. Also very interesting facts about history, fjords, animals and more. Would recommend any time!
Paula D — Google review
This was a great experience! Tom and Jack were amazing guides and very willing to share ideas for the rest of our trip. They were knowledgeable and shared interesting facts throughout the trip. It was amazing to be on the fjord and experience the landscape around us thanks to FjordSeal. It was sunny and warm, and we all wore shorts and t-shirts.
Katie L — Google review
Highly recommended! Very friendly (family) staff, nice kayaks, cool pace, cosy lunch stop and super interesting facts and trivia about local economy, culture and nature along the way. Thanks to Paul, Tom & Bob for the nicest trip!! Pro tip: if you’re going out on a single kayak and it’s your first time: get your balance dialed! 😅
Thomas S — Google review
Such a great experience Jack was a true gentleman and an apostle legend taking us out of normal hours to a fab spot for cliff jumps and a spot of light reading. Well worth everything to go here to experience just a few hours with Jack and the stunning scenery. Best view of waterfalls, fjords and glaciers.
Ben C — Google review
Our group of five took the kayak tour with Tom. He was an excellent tour guide and gave us so much information about the area and also the culture. There were beautiful views. On the day we kayaked, we had the entire fjord to ourselves, not even another boat nearby. It was too cold to swim but we had a lovely lunch at the halfway point. I highly recommend this tour if you are in the area.
Melissa D — Google review
Paul and Jack were wonderful guides. Besides the actual tour, there were several stops where they told us a lot about the Sognefjord, their company or the Norwegian communities. An absolute recommendation
Timo W — Google review
Wonderful kayak trip with Tom ! Very nice place, quiet, super guide that takes time to explain à lot of things about history, geography and fun fact about the area. I warmly reccommend !

Borgund New Church

We visited Borgund’s New Church in Norway, located right beside the historic wooden church. Built in recent eras, it provides an interesting contrast to the old stave church. The entrance ticket includes access to both churches, along with a guided tour, and there’s also a nearby farmhouse to explore. Recommend a visit to experience both historical and more recent architecture in this beautiful setting.
Rakesh J — Google review
What an unbelievable experience to finally see it in real life. It's a must see when you're in Norway
Toby A — Google review
It's a bit off the beaten path but it's worth a visit. Service is nice but the guide that was present ignored us and wasn't very helpful. Would recommend a visit anyways - 100 NOK entrance fee is not bad
Bruno S — Google review
One of the oldest stave churches in the world. It was built in 1180 and too old but preserved very well. It has an entrance fee to go inside (not to see it from the outside). It was worth it! The construction made us awe struck. Sadly, there were no surviving paintings. The bell tower is under some renovation so we were not able to go up to see it. The staffs were friendly both at the exhibit and near the church as well. They helped us with the history. But it is recommended to first see the exhibit and understand the history before going in the church.
Sai N — Google review
A place that worth visit if you're around. There are two main church's well conserved. They're kinda different of what you usually see. There's no much other things around the area, except for a museum and a small River
Carlos G — Google review
There are also spanish guided tour in the Church. Amazing!. A terrace for sunny days avaliable.
Jelique D — Google review
Beautiful and underrated church - highly recommended! This is a very beautiful church. In my opinion, even more impressive than Unesco Urnes Stave Church. It’s easy to reach, with a large parking area and surrounded by lovely nature and peaceful surroundings. Just one thing to keep in mind: the church closes already at 5 PM, which might feel a bit early during the summer season. So make sure to plan your visit accordingly.
Bojan — Google review
Humble church standing next to the beautiful Borgund Stave Church, no less beautiful in its own way. We didn't get to enter the church as it was closed.

The cafe serves as a perfect starting point for hiking adventures, including the scenic trek up to Feigefossen waterfall. For those seeking thrills on water, their rib boat tours provide exhilarating experiences with breathtaking views and lively guides who enhance the journey with music and enthusiasm.
Absolutely fantastic rib tour on the Fjord that was definitely a highlight of the holiday. We tried to book months in advance but everything was full both through our cruise company and direct. Then the night before, our ship came close enough to land for my internet to work and I discovered a load of spaces had come available. I snapped up 2 slots and was so pleased I'd checked. Our driver/guide was brilliant and we loved everything about the experience.
Richard — Google review
We rented bikes here early in the season. Karlis had our bikes ready and opened up the shop just for us. We had an incredible ride along the romantic road and up through the valley. We got an e-bike and two regular bikes so everyone was able to bike together. Bikes also came with good lights for the tunnels. Karlis was very accommodating and gave us good directions for where to go, would highly recommend.

The RIB boat tour was really amazing. We got an enthusiastic, very friendly guide, the views are fantastic, and the music on board gives it an extra dimension.
Gert S — Google review
What a great trip, the guys that run this were amazing, very professional and also made you feel relaxed, all the gear is provided to keep you warm and safe. Can't tell you it's a must to book this trip, we had an amazing time. Book directly with them or walk up like we did and book, we waited 20 mins. Save alot of money doing it directly than going through the cruise liner.
Pete S — Google review
We rented bikes for a reasonable price (400 nok for a whole day). A short trip tot Drivandefossen (8km one way), afterwards a sportive ride to Urnes (29km one way) for the Urnes Stankyrkja. You pass through serveral unlit tunnels. The locals consider this the "romantic route". Truely beautiful! Other options such as fishing or a boat trip on the fjord are also recommended!

Amazing experience and must be booked if you are in the area or on a cruise visit. Simon and his family made our day with a great llama trek and lots of amazing facts about them and the local area. Highly recommended
Ian M — Google review
We went to visit the farm, and we really enjoyed It. The personal were very kind and nice. They explained about those animals, and let us stay with them for a while. We could feed them and stroke them. My kids loved It. I recommend It.
Mario G — Google review
We had a great day at the farm, the llama's are lovely and we had a beautiful walk along the river with them. The owners were also really kind and told us a lot about the area. Definately recommended.
Herman K — Google review
Amazing experience at the llama farm. 🦙
Jonathan S — Google review
Our ship was delayed in Skjolden for an extra day due to mechanical issues. We did the Llama walk & it was an absolute highlight! A very unique experience, one that we wouldn't experience at home. Highly recommend.
Karen D — Google review
Our family had the most amazing experience visiting the Llamas. It was one of the big highlights of our cruise. The staff were so nice and friendly and the llamas were such characters. You could really see their different personalities shining through and they answered to their names too which is a clear indication of how well they are looked after. It was hilarious to see the sheep and goats running down the mountain when the staff shook the bucket of food. They were so gentle to the kids feeding them. Thanks so much for such a great tour

Vettisfossen

Mentioned on

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Vettisfossen is a breathtaking mountain waterfall in Norway, cascading 275 meters down a cliff. Accessible via a hiking trail, the journey offers stunning views of four large waterfalls. The hike includes an easy walk to Vetti gard where visitors can enjoy waffles and drinks before continuing towards the base or top of the waterfall. While the bottom route may be more challenging due to slippery rocks, it provides an impressive view of the waterfall's plunge.
Gorgeous walk with 4 big waterfalls. Parking at the first and an easy walk to the Vetti gard. There you can have some waffles (not baked on the spot!) and a drink. Picnic is outside. From there you can choose to walk to the bottom of therapy or top. We choose bottom, which was a bit more difficult because of the wet stones (slippery). You cannot go to the place where the waterfall plunges on the rocks but it is still pretty impressive. Total walk for us untrained: 6 hours including photos and picnic.
John W — Google review
My favorite trail in Jotunheimen National Park. Not so challenging, but with a lot of trees and green all around. The views are beautiful and you will cross a river on bridges few times. Prepare that the last part of the trail leading to the biggest waterfall is quite off-road even for hikers. You walk a lot on the rocks so you need to mind your steps.
Jana K — Google review
Great hike to Norway’s highest free-falling waterfall at 275 m. The trail starts at the Hjelle parking lot, which is free, well-sized, and even has a WC. We saw someone drive up to Vetti Tourist Station, but it’s unclear if this is allowed for non-residents, and the road is so narrow that it’s not recommended anyway. The hike itself is easy to medium: from Hjelle to Vetti (Tourist Station) the gravel path is pleasant, well maintained with several ups and downs, and walkable even in rain. Shortly before reaching Vetti it gets steeper on a paved road, but still manageable. From Vetti you can choose between the top (longer hike) or the bottom (about 30 min, passing a great suspension bridge) of the falls. In total the hike to the bottom takes about 4–5 h (out and back, ca. 15 km, ca. 500 m up/down), depending on pace, rest and photo stops. The last stretch requires more sure footing, and to get close to the bottom you may have to cross slippery rocks or shallow water. Waterproof shoes with good grip are essential. It is worth mentioning, that the route passes four beautiful waterfalls: Hjellefossen, Avdalsfossen, the almost tropical-looking Høljafossen, and finally Vettisfossen.
Maximilian P — Google review
One of the most stunning hikes and waterfalls in Norway. This one is a gem. Easy 2h hike with stunning views. Be sure to take the left trail to the bottom of the Waterfall. It might get a little slippery on the way down. You can fill up your water bottle along the little creeks along the way. Take the first parking place or you will miss the first waterfall.
Nils W — Google review
Great walk with a tougher last third. Worth both the upper and lower viewpoint to see. Lovely nature, great place for an afternoon stroll!!!
Gyorgy B — Google review
It has a free parking that has toilet and bathroom. You need lots of time to visit it. There is about 1:30 hour long walk to a hotel. It was a very easy path. Then you should choose a path to the top of it either to the bottom. The bottom one is 1 km and the top one is 1.5 km. We wanted to take the top one but we gave up because it was a little hard for us and it needed lots of time. So we got back. But if you have time and are in good health conditions, it won't be hard for you because the path is marked.
Faezeh G — Google review
Amazing! The hike too the waterfall is as amazing as the waterfall itself. For cirka five kilometers you will walk along a beautiful bluegreen river. I prefered too view the waterfall from the top. This is a must visit.

Where after ski is done as it should be. If you feel like dancing on the tables, drink and sing along to the live DJ, this is your place in Hemsedal.
Miklos S — Google review
Went there 24 January. If you want to be accused of being on drugs, this is the place for you…got accused of being on drugs because of “after ski glasses”. Told me to take the glasses of, and I did, and then continued to ask me if I was okay. I have never tried anything like this. I know safety is importen, but this kind of accusations is just way off.

300NOK at 7pm?! That’s outrageous and unacceptable. We had to come home and do our own party. Please fix your pricing, it’s not worth it.
William B — Google review
If you have been to a club, I would say basically anywhere else in the world you are gonna be disappointed. You will find semi many people in there, and it could definitely be a good party. But you are not allowed to “go crazy” and really have fun. So most people just casual “dance”(more like stand) and the tables singing. And if you chose to give it a bit more throttle you are gonna have those too jacked, too trouble looking and too tanned bouncers looking to give you a hard time. It was clearly like this from looking at how people was treated, well even our selves. Only reason they get two stars, is that they played some danish music together with the Norwegian. Absolutely NO RECOMMENDATIONS from here.

madness !!! best afterski I've EVER been to . Pure madness . Great DJ amazing sercurity in and around the nightclub and fast staff in the bar .Not all the pictures are taken inside the nightclub but around the sight.. It's a must do experiencel
Adam A — Google review
Be careful! Very violent security! Choking until fainting, pushing one small guy who was not being rude to the ground with 3 people and following him outside the property to throw him on the ground again with four people…. We were a large party of 750 people partying here a whole week every evening peacefully. On one of the last night the also opened up for other guest and the security, which was okay all week, went wild. They got extraordinary violent for no reasons and one of us was a bit drunk and willingly leaving with his hands up. That apparently gave the very unreasonable security the right to choke him until he almost fainted and then throw him on the ground and sit on him with 3 guys. They followed him outside with four people and wanted to throw him face first, arms behind his back on the ground again. They were NOT willing to solve the situation but only to let out their aggression.

World's best afterski! Great place to party! Buy a beer, get on top of the tables, and enjoy the music form a legendary dj.

Beautiful old stave church. Easely accessable parking at the other side of the road. Appearantly one of the last original stave churches kept as it was all those years ago. We paid to see inside and got some very good explanation from the guide! Would reccomend to stop here to see something unique!

Truly, this is a sacred place where craftsmanship and devotion meet in perfect harmony. The splendor of this church is a testament to the reverence and faith of those who built it. In every beam and carving, there is a reflection of divine artistry.

Visiting this stave church was incredible - I had no idea the history nor had I heard of them before. Our tour stopped for a brief visit and the local guide shared so much fascinating history. It was WELL worth the stop and I highly recommend, especially with a guide. To think this gem could have been torn down as “parts” for the new church boggles the mind.

Very interesting story by a friendly and enthusiastic guide ( sorry forgot the name).

One of the oldest stavechurches, and one of the only existing using the Borgund style. Only the main ship is preserved, but it is stunning, and well worth the 5 min drive off the main road. Tip: spend a few bucks pn a guide, it's a very interesting story, and you support the preservation of the church.

I stayed one night. Room was 4/5 . Really decent with nice view on horses. Hotel has nice details . View around is really something special. Breakfast was very rich . I was in room 171.

Stayed in single economic room. An amazing hotel with a perfect location and service. The breakfast was fantastic, the pool and sauna is perfect. Sometimes there is a live music in the evenings and cozy places in hall just to stay and relax.
Lauris P — Google review
Here’s a tighter, sharper version with your added details baked in: ⸻ Storjefell Resort — A low point in an otherwise fantastic Norway trip We stayed one night in two double rooms (one for my brother and me, one for our parents). From check-in to check-out, it was a catalogue of failures. Rooms & cleanliness • One room had dirty bedsheets and a dirty toilet. • The second room had a very low, sloped ceiling with no warning, making it unsafe—my 80-year-old father hit his head twice just standing up from the bed. • Bedsheets in that room were also torn in multiple places. Pool & facilities • No slippers or towels provided for the pool. • The jacuzzi jets didn’t work. • The pool was visibly dirty, with brown sediment on the bottom. Restaurant: broken promises and bad food • After we raised the issues, reception said dinner was “on the house.” At the restaurant, we were told only one person’s dinner would be covered. That’s not a gesture; that’s a technicality. • Menu mostly in Norwegian, which doesn’t help non-Norwegian guests feel welcome. • Food quality was the worst we had in seven days of travelling around Norway. Example: The tenderloin’s béarnaise sauce was clearly reheated multiple times—the colour was off, it was so viscous it wouldn’t pour, and it stayed put when the container was turned upside down. Payment policy & treatment • We were never informed of the non-standard policy that dinner can’t be charged to the room. • Staff initially wouldn’t let us leave the restaurant to go to our rooms to get our cards—despite already having our IDs and credit card details on file. • After a six-hour drive, it was late and we were tired; the plan was to settle at checkout, and staff eventually agreed to that. Owner’s behaviour • At 22:15, the owner banged on my parents’ door while they were sleeping, accusing us of refusing to pay. • Once he understood we had never said that and that his staff had agreed we could pay at checkout, he told us he hoped we wouldn’t return. On that point, we agree. Bottom line This was by far the worst experience of our trip. Everywhere else in Norway we met friendly staff, clean facilities, and good food. Storjefell Resort was the lone black mark. If you’re planning a visit, this is the one place we strongly recommend you avoid.

Best hotel and buffet for us.And stuff service is also great. There is a swimming pool, Jacuzzi bath and sauna. But you need to pay for bubble of jacuzzi. There is not enough snow for downhill and cross country skiing at this time.

There are delicious dinners here, and live music with dancing, but I don't know if it's always like that.
Vidas — Google review
The dinner buffet stands out -- they do not cut corners here. You will find dozens of dishes, including high quality meat cuts, multiple fish dishes, salads, and probably 15 types of dessert. The dining room is clean and well staffed. The pool area could use a small upgrade, but I nevertheless enjoyed the pools, sauna and jacuzzi (particularly around 13:00 when it is pretty quiet). Lots of attractions for the kids at night including table tennis, shuffleboard, a disco, and a magician. They recently installed some 8 electric vehicle chargers, which is appreciated as the car comes up the hill fully loaded.

Great location, however decent rooms and decent staff.

An amazing hotel with a perfect location and service. Being in the mountains, you have all conditions to relax comfortable way. The food is fantastic, the pools are perfect joy for kids and saunas for adults. There is a live music in the evenings and cozy places in hall just to stay and relax.

Klimapark 2469, also known as Climate stop, is an open-air enterprise park that focuses on the history of climate, hunting, and trapping. Visitors can learn about climate change and permafrost through guided tours in English and Norwegian. The park offers a unique experience with informative guides who provide competent answers to all questions. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to explore an ice cave and witness impressive glaciers.
Absolutely impressive area that at first glance resembles a lunar landscape. At second glance, you can discover a lot here at an altitude of 1,860 m. We had booked the 12:00 tour to the ice tunnel. The tour is great! On the approximately 1km long path to the ice tunnel, our guide Emma made several stops and told us the history and importance of the climate park with a lot of charm and enthusiasm. What the measuring stations do, which plants live at this altitude, how the soils are brought to life and why this is possible. The tour and the ice tunnel are a very special experience. There is enough time to look around and enjoy, what might be not possible anymore in just a few years. The tour is well suited for older children. We were here with our 6 year old. With a lot of motivation from us, it worked quite well, but since she doesn't speak English and it was raining a bit, the initial enthusiasm quickly disappeared with each stop on our way to the tunnel.

Absolutely amazing place. Great guide with professional knowledge sharing. Tunnel itself is like from another planet. If you will get there you will have also drive the highest road in Norway - 1866m. We really enjoyed everything!

An incredible experience. walking in the area surrounded by frozen plateaus, semi-frozen lakes and inside the ice cave. The very good guide explained to us the incredible nature, the life of the glaciers and the life of the hunters. The ice cave is incredible in its beauty, the formations, the artistic forms of ice, the artefacts preserved in ice cases, the tunnels, the theatre where we watched the documentary. Above us the fast-flowing clouds carried by a strong wind. Absolutely not to be missed. Tip: dress very, very well to protect yourself from the cold and wind. Domenico, Italy

Fantastic tour that everyone that is in the area should see. I would recommend visiting first visiting the norwegian mountain museum in Lom and then go up in the mountain and see the ice tunnel. I also recommend to not only see the ice tunnel but take the tour with the guides that will show you that what you see around is not only rocks and ice but so much more full of life!
Nenad L — Google review
Our guide Kathnika(apologies if I have misspelled) was enthusiastic. She gave demonstrations wherever possible, and this helped me understand the concepts e.g.: the polygonal hole softening and the Gabro Vs Feldspar stone sounds. I learned the crucial role played by the permafrost layers. I appreciate the fact that organizers have dedicated more time to the outdoor specimens than the cave. While I was impressed by the cave's creation history, it's not much there from a learning perspective. They can add some more technical information about the cave's current maintenance or if it is used for any experiments or so on. I highly recommend the tour.
Omkar J — Google review
Excellent tour guide giving us detailed information about local flora and fauna. Ice cave itself is absolutely amazing! A mixture of Nordic myth and Ice Age style artifacts frozen in the walls. Ice tunnel slide is highly recommended- if you are not afraid of really really tight spaces and sliding head first into the unknown dark :-)
Renate L — Google review
The artistic ice sculptures hidden in the cave beneath the glacier were stunning—like stepping into a frozen gallery of natural beauty and creativity. The tour guide offered fascinating insights into post-glacial nature, weaving in subtle hints about the effects of global warming. A perfect blend of art, science, and environmental awareness. Highly recommended!

Fantastic nature experience. It gives you a much better understanding of the glacier, fauna and flora, as well as climate change challenges. This is a guided tour anyone could benefit from!

Jotunheimen National Park, also known as the home of the giants, is a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts. It boasts Northern Europe's two highest peaks and offers breathtaking views, both easy and challenging hiking trails, and opportunities for glacier crossings, cave explorations, and rock climbing. The park is also rich in wildlife including reindeer and wolverines. Hikers should be prepared with appropriate gear such as sturdy footwear, raincoats, warm clothing, food, and water.
What an amazing experience! The path to reach the glacier is around 800m and very easy since you walk on a platform. Our guide from Klima park explained lots about the climate, the animals and the surrounding. When we reach the glacier we entered in a cave of 6000years of ice. Recommended for sure!

Ancient gabbro rock formations and glacial carving have shaped this rugged terrain into one of Scandinavia’s top destinations for hikers and mountaineers. --- Outdoor Activities Hiking & Trekking: The park offers over 50 marked trails. One of the most famous hikes is the Besseggen Ridge, with stunning views over the green Lake Gjende and blue Lake Bessvatnet. Mountain Climbing: Popular summits include Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind. Climbs can be done via marked paths or guided glacier routes from places like Juvasshytta and Spiterstulen. In summer, bus connections are available from Oslo, Bergen, and Trondheim. --- Weather & Safety (May 26, 2025) Current conditions include light rain and temperatures around 4°C. A yellow avalanche warning is in effect due to wet snow, so hikers should take precautions and check local advisories before setting out. --- Getting There Jotunheimen is about 4–5 hours by car from Oslo, Bergen, or Trondheim. It lies centrally in southern Norway, making it an accessible destination for those exploring the country’s national parks and natural landmarks.

I spent few hours at this national park on the hike to Vettisfossen, the tallest waterfall in Norway. This was one of the highlights on my vacation in the country. I recommend to try the same, if you are not into super challenging hikes, or something else in the area.

An absolutely beautiful national park which is great, although sometimes challenging, for hiking and camping. The hours shown on maps are for lighter backpacks so plan for longer hikes with heavier pack. Requires some fitness and experience I'd say. Favorite parts of our 7 1/2-day hike was Gjendebu to Memurubu (even though "Bukkelægret" was a challenge) and of course Besseggen.

Awesome. You start your hike after a 10 min drive from Beitostølen. There are around 10 - 15 parking slots available. From there it takes you about 2 hours to the top, brakes included. The way is not always easy, in the middle part you need to climb a bit and in the end there are a lot of stones in the way. Follow the red marks on the stones. When you are at the top the view is just amazing, 360 degree view to all the mountains around. Bring warm clothes and good shoes with you, the wind can get pretty strong up there. The whole hike takes you around 3,5 hours, as i said with normal speed and a lot of short brakes included. Highly recommend! Oktober 2021.

It's a beautiful and very scenic hike. We went before the hiking season in the norway starts so there was a lot of snow there. The hike suddenly became tough from moderate. But the final views were worth the pain. If you're in the region do not miss this hike.

We had an amazing one-day hiking trip to Bitihorn in a partly cloudy day in August. A family with our 10-year old son. It was quite manageable for kids over 8 in my opinion although we saw even younger kids on the path. The internet coverage was good during the whole hiking path and there are marking showing the route. We enjoyed the taste of wild blueberries and walking on small running streams. We drove from Oslo in the morning and came back the same evening. It became a compact beautiful memory in the nature.
Razieh F — Google review
Fun walk to a nice summit with fantastic views. We did the walk in summer and kids were delighted to find a patch of icy snow. Can do the walk from 2 sides, the Beitostolen side is steeper but shorter with some scrambling short cuts if you choose... the kids did! We made a video search "twoplustwocrew bitihorn" and you should find it. Views from the top look back down the valley towards Beitostolen one way and across to the mountains on the other side with a few lakes thrown in. We took our jetboil and snacks and had a mini picnic at the top while we enjoyed the view. As with any walking in Norway go prepared for changeable wether.. it was pretty chilly at the top!

A delightful view from the top of the ⛰️ Mountain. Yes! Even though it took a long way to reach the top. But don't forget to bring some water and snacks.

This is a must hike that will take you around four hours (this includes extra time to absorb the views and have a bite on top) if you're in good shape. There are enough maps and markers to give you a general idea of which way to go and the top of this hike (cell phone antenna station) offers amazing views though the winds can be incredibly powerful.

Fantastic ski school! We travelled with our two boys aged 13 and 11, and booked 4 mornings of lessons (via Crystal Ski) varying from beginner to intermediate. As we visited in low season, the boys were put together (2:1) with Henric, and learned so much! They progressed to parallel turns and 'hockey stops', explored the main ski area as well as kid-friendly bumpy/activity tracks and even some off-piste in the 'woods'! Henric was so kind and patient, and the boys both loved spending time with him. Us adults were both taught by Lasse, albeit in different groups. Again we both thoroughly enjoyed our lessons and found them so beneficial. Lasse was very knowledgeable about the resort and local area, and a very experienced skier with lots of interesting stories and great tips for all abilities. It's worth mentioning too that there were plenty of other instructors around, and they all seemed to love their job, and had such a lovely way with the children. Thank you, we are already researching a return trip!

LOVE Beito Aktiv! I did two activities with them and can’t wait to come back and try the rest of them! I did the Sauna which was nice and private. Looking out at the lake it had a very nice view. I definitely recommend. And I did the fishing which was the most fun I’ve had in a while. I hadn’t been fishing in years and it’s perfectly okay if you’re a beginner. You won’t feel left out at all. We smoked the fish that was caught and we had some coffee with boiled lake water cause it’s a fresh water lake. Great time. The most fun I had in Beitostølen for sure.

Besseggen, located in the heart of Jotunheimen National Park, is one of Norway's most renowned hiking destinations. The main highlight is the breathtaking view of Bessvatn lake on one side and Gjende lake on the other. During summer, a boat regularly crosses Lake Gjende to reach the trailhead in Memurubu. This area also boasts Norway's two highest mountains, Galdhopiggen and Glittertind.
Fantastic place to hike ! A great hiking of around 14 km with altitude going up to 1400+ mts above sea level. Also the trails are well marked with directions and wherever needed chain support on rocks are provided. Recommended in the month of August or late July. There is a nice cafe at the ferry boarding place. Nice place to catch some pictures and get insta ready. Because once the hike will start you will forget about pictures and focus on natural beauty instead.

We climbed the magnificent Bessegen Ridge starting from Gjendesheim and completing a route which led us up and along the ridge, then around the Bessvatnet lake and back to Gjendesheim car park. We completed the route during the last week of May 2025, with at least 3/4 of the route fairly heavily covered in snow. Warm clothes and walking boots were required, as there are many sections that require scrambling and pulling yourself over rocks. Due to the presence of snow and ice still on the ridge, it took almost 10 hours to summit and return, but it was worth it to see such a magnificent view from the top and the completely frozen Bessvatnet lake. Much of the route around the lake was snow covered, so we had to forge our own route which significantly slowed progress. Well worth it if you have a reasonable level of fitness and determination.

Took the popular path Memurubu to Gjende hike. Difficult hike but breathtaking experience! Avoid if you have height problems—you literally have to climb on knife’s edge! Camping on the way would be more relaxing. Take plenty of water or fill up on your way from the stream (That’s what I did and still alive, some locals said I shouldn’t as there can be bacterias). Lastly bring your best protein bars and food. Highly recommended! Pro tip: if you miss the last bus to the parking lot ask someone in the shop to drop you off and show your ticket. you might be lucky. Including swimming, breaks, food and sightseeing it took 11 hours for me. So start early and enjoy!
Mehedi H — Google review
Undoubtedly one of the true highlights of our trip to Norway. While we were worried at first reading some of the reviews here, we can safely say that with moderate fitness and adequate preparation you should be able to undertake - and enjoy ! - this unique hike. It took us about 6,5 hours, including stops - taking the early ferry at 8am, meaning we were back in time for the first bus back at 15pm. The first section of the hike was the most challenging for us as it’s constantly uphill for about 1.5 - 2 hours. The actual ridge climb proved to be less straining and scary than initially anticipated. Do make sure you stay focused towards the end of the hike when fatigue might set it: you will face a steep descend back to the ferry terminal where it can get very slippery in case of rainy weather…
Casper B — Google review
One of the most amazing hikes I have ever done. We decided to start the trail in Memuburu, we booked our spots for the ferry and the parking lot/shuffle bus for the earliest morning ferry, I recommend to take this route as it is so much nicer to not worry about getting to the ferry on the way back from the hike. I’m not an experienced hiker, however, I do training (gym mostly) and this was my longest and most technical hike so far, I have to say in terms of views, it exceed my expectations, it was completely wonderful and memorable, we were so lucky with the weather. The hike itself, it is quite technical, very rocky and the way up can be quite tiring. The most challenging parts for me were, the climbing part in order to reach the top, I got quite scared as it is definitely more dramatic than it looked in the pictures/videos specially, for people with fear of heights and also quite long hahah. After the climbing part, it gets a bit better until it get worse, when you’re starting to go downhill, it’s hell hahah, I have bad knees, and I have train and prepare myself for this moment, brought all the gear (hiking poles, knee sleeves, etc ) and that’s usually good enough, but god, it was so long, technical and so much impact on my knees that I almost gave up hahaha. If you have bad knees like me, be aware of this and take your considerations, the way down isn’t tiring itself but it is very hard on your knees. The most memorable views are honestly in the first half of the trip if you start from Memuburu, so take this in consideration for pictures/videos, because when you reach the top after the climbing part you might think the view is even better there but is not hhahah, so, if you don’t want to go the climbing part, you could even just go back after reaching the half and you have seen all the pretty tbh. I would recommend to take this route instead, because the climbing part going downhill would look even scarier 😆 Overall, great experience! Even with super bad knees, I made it on time, 7 hours 40 min, and it was totally worth it, loved this experience 🥰

The most terrifying but thrilling hike/climb I’ve ever done. What an amazing experience! Would highly recommend. I’m not the best climber but have done my fair share of hikes and this I would rate a 7/10 on difficulty. The views. My goodness, the views were absolutely breathtaking. So worth the climb to see the top and the waters below. Cannot wait to come back!
Yusif A — Google review
Its amazing feeling when you reach the top. The ridge is doable and its something new. Its climbing. Its a bit scary if you look but when you do it, its not so bad. You will get more confident and then suddenly you are at the top. Way down is long but intresting.
Sonyeo M — Google review
Amazing view – highly recommend! If you have a fear of heights, I suggest taking the route from Memurubu to Gjendesheim, which means you’ll be climbing up the ridge. Going in the opposite direction—down the ridge—can feel much scarier. The hike is about 14.5–15.5 kilometers from Memurubu to Gjendesheim.

Nestled in the charming village of Lom, the Lom Stave Church is a stunning example of medieval architecture that transports you back in time. This wooden marvel features steep roofs and an intricately carved interior dating back to the 18th century, showcasing the unique timber framing techniques characteristic of stave churches.
Nothing better than getting to see this truly beautiful Stave church without people! End of August, late afternoon, no one around. This church is absolutely stunning! Cannot say enough about it. With only 28 Staves left, it’s very special. I think we saw a total of 5 on our trip.

Lom is a verry nice place to stay. It is an old Norwegian town, that has a lot of history. The Church is a verry nice building and worth a visit. Ok to walk around the church, but you have to pay in order to go inside.
Arnstein E — Google review
If you want to visit the church from inside, check the opening hours in advance. There are also some messes happening in the church, if you are interested in those. From the outside, the church is nice, but I still liked the old tombstones the most. You can walk around them as in a park, still enjoying something that's old and has a great historical value.
Jana K — Google review
A truly special place. The staff at the entrance were very kind and welcoming. The church is in excellent condition, and being inside felt deeply spiritual — unlike anything I’m used to from stone cathedrals back home. The wooden construction, the scent of old timber, the slightly faded paint, the chandelier with its own story — it all creates a powerful, hard-to-explain atmosphere. A moving and unique experience, both culturally and emotionally.
Tigran M — Google review
Wonderful stave church! While the entrance fee might be a bit hefty it provides you with the possibility of visiting the church from the inside - which I’d highly recommend. If you’re lucky you also get to join a nice, short guided tour through the building by a very knowledgeable guide. If you were to visit a stave church while in Norway this would be a very good pick.

Fantastic mineral collection. Well worth a visit if you are interested in stones.

Truly passionate collection of minerals of Norway, fossils, and, separately, minerals from all over the world. The gift shop is a captivating museum within museum too. Highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning collection of stones, minerals, crystals and fossils. The owners are two professional geolists who devoted their lifes to traveling and looking for them. Now they present and sell some of their finds as well as other goods at their store. The museum entree is free. Such a lovely place and couple!

It's been a few years since I've been there. For me personally, it was an absolutely beautiful place. Many different minerals and semiprecious minerals. A few very nice fossils. And a wonderful part-staff from Sweden :-) Anyway, I bought very well at great prices. I highly recommend.

(Translated by Google) Visited Vågå Church on a lovely autumn day with the morning sun which really lifted the fine church from its best side. Vågå church is a half-timbered cruciform church from the 1620s. There was previously a medieval stave church on the site and parts of the building materials are from this and perhaps from other stave churches in the area. What is interesting to me are the wonderful carved tomb supports in Akanthus. Acanthus is a stylistic and ornamental motif, based on the strongly lobed leaves and marked leaf veins of plants in the acanthus family. The Greeks used the motif from the years 600–500 BCE, in Norway the acanthus motif became common from the 17th century and has been particularly used in rose painting, wood carving and architecture. And the support for Jo Gjende, which is located here in Kleberstein, is of course nicely carved with Akanthu decoration So a trip here is worth the trip both to see the fine church and the wonderful Grave Pillars.

(Translated by Google) Vågåkyrkja as it stands is a cruciform church in heavy half-timbering built in 1628, so not a stave church... But it is no less exciting for that reason! It is rich in church art, old stave church parts (!) and local history! The church has some opening days during the tourist season where you can enter for NOK 50, but there is no problem contacting the church office on e.g. Facebook to enter outside of season/opening hours. Or you can drop by at a church service on a Sunday and hear the beautiful organ! 🤩

I loved the atmosphere and operation of this rafting base so much that I stuck around and have been working here for about 4 seasons now. I love the fact that the guest experience comes first and it's not just an empty phrase. A small family business runs world class rafting trips and much more. See you on the river!

If you're going to Norway, you should definitely visit Go Rafting Sjoa. We had an amazing day a week ago on Monday. We went family rafting with our family. Safety comes first, and everything is done with a good dose of humor, so it's highly recommended—even if you find it a bit exciting or nerve-wracking. Our guide was Sasha, and you can tell he’s experienced—he’s very sociable and friendly, and has a great sense of humor. We laughed a lot! The other guides who joined us were also fantastic. You can really see that they work together as a team and are well coordinated. We were really impressed with the photos taken during the trip. Kuba did an amazing job— the pictures are high quality, there are lots of them, and they perfectly capture the fun and excitement of the day. They were absolutely worth it! It’s an experience we’ll never forget. Thank you so much Sasha, Kuba, Mariano, Finn, and everyone else working at GoRafting. The atmosphere is fantastic, and everything is well organized and taken care of—from the receptionist, to the bus driver, to the person who bakes the cake. Every detail is thought of. Greetings from the Netherlands! Stefan, mirjam, Jessin en Moïse Siempre amigos!

What a nice day we had at the Sjoa river! The environment is beyond stunning. The rafting guides, Griffen and Rob, were super friendly and professional. Beautiful and high quality pictures were taken that you can purshase afterwards for a small price. After the trip you can take a warm shower and drink coffee or tea and soup.

My partner and I stayed in the Europe room for the weekend rafting trip and a couple extra days. Our room was roomy with a lovely view of the river. The BBQ included with the weekend trip was incredible. The free breakfast is a proper Scandinavian breakfast. It’s a small camp which meant less crowd and more quiet. Clean, tidy. Located conveniently between multiple other towns with hikes and sites, it was a perfect place to stay central to the area. Staff was incredibly helpful with advice on what to experience apart from their rafting and shared recommendations for the next stop in our roadtrip. Highly recommend if you’re looking for more of a personalized cozy camping experience.

The best rafting experience I've ever been on, the guide (Kuba) explained everything perfectly in English and in Czech was nice and fun to talk to and knew his way around the river. Mikel was a great company and fun to watch him

Scared woman, 48 years: " I didnt think I would be brave enough to do the rafting. I through I would chicken out in the last moment. But thanks to the great guides I was able to do it! Their experience and humour made me relaxed enough to join the daytour rafting. I through it was really fun and I didnt feel scared. I wore my sunglasses so I could see properly (the chauffeur lend me some small rope to tie the glasses). We practiced how to go into the water and drag up a person which felt good. I recommend to stay at the rooms at the rafting place also so you dont feel stressed in the morning. After the rafting you get lunch at 14:00 and the photographer will show the group all the photos during the ride. (You can buy all of the photos). Thank you, Jerry, Sasha and the brittish guide.

Had such a fun experience here with the best guides! It was absolutely freezing when we did it, but as soon as we were on the water, it didn't matter anymore. The rafting was so much fun, and felt completely safe even though it was much wilder than expected. Got awesome photos too, definitely recommend this!

The location is beautiful, right on the riverbank of the Sjoa River. The area has numerous hot tubs and an outside bar with a big selection of beer, perfect for relaxing after an exciting day on the water and offering stunning views of the river and nature. With 15 years of paddling experience, I can say this rafting base stands out. The food is delicious, with a variety of options to suit different tastes, and the staff are incredibly friendly and professional. Their knowledge and enthusiasm add to the overall enjoyment. What I appreciate most as a professional guide is that the guides and management are a vital part of the local community, putting safety and happy guests before profit. You can even find a few local paddling legends among the team of guides. The combination of thrilling rapids, excellent facilities, and warm hospitality makes this rafting base an unforgettable destination. It’s a fantastic place to experience the excitement of rafting while enjoying the comforts of a welcoming base.

This place is awesome! Staff represents a fun funky mix of nationalities and personalities coming together to make for an incredible experience for their customers. Love the cabin feel and flow through the facilities. Fun signage throughout adds to the appeal. Ample facilities for parking, storage of personal items and changing. Given the amount of wet suits in the changing rooms, the only down side is the funky odor…. Ew. The team makes a point of safety first and takes it very seriously from the wet suits to life jacket to multiple safety briefings to bringing along a medical dry bag in case of emergencies. Such fun people leading the rafts and they truly play to the crowd steering adventurous groups into the real white water and more timid groups through the (boring) flat stuff. Definitely a work out but nothing a reasonably fit person couldn’t handle. Our rafting adventure included a delicious, huge and body warming lunch. We had a soup with a mix of veggies and meats along with a huge assortment of breads and rolls with butter. So delicious.

This place is Awesome, i did 2 great rafting tours with good instructors. Everyone on the staff was very kind and in for a laugh, and even after the rafting was done, it was still a lot of fun, with a good Bonfire and a very nice bar area so easily a 5* rating. If i ever come back to Norway i will most definitely go rafting here again!

Thanks so much Ben and Sjoa Rafting, I’ll definitely be coming back :))

4th time going for rafting here in Sjoa and as before, it didn't disappoint. Had a great time on the river with my friends during the day and enjoyed good food and drinks in the evening. We slept well in the cozy cabin we rented. The hot tubs by the river was a nice new addition to the whole experience, very relaxing to get into after the rafting! Upgraded facilities since my last visit; they felt really fresh and clean! All of the staff was really friendly and service-minded; even when we had to change our booking on the go. And a special mention goes out to our great guide Pedro who managed to give us some extra excitement by surfing the rapids with the boat several times! We're coming back, for sure!

These people get it right. Slick organisation without a businessy feel: you feel welcomed into an exciting event in a relaxed way. The Family Rafting trip is very well suited for families without any rafting experience. Smaller children at Sjoa’s lower age limit will enjoy this as well as adults. They throw some water fun into the mix and organise a well rounded event.

Viewpoint Snøhetta is a stunning architectural marvel made of rippled timber and mirrored glass, serving as an educational center and observation point commissioned by the Wild Reindeer Foundation. It offers breathtaking views of the valley and Mt. Snøhetta, accessible via a gentle 1.5km walk from the car park along a gravel trail off the E6 by Hjerkinn.
The viewpoint is an excellent example of how great architecture can integrate to nature and enhance the experience. 1,5 kilometer from the parking lot this beautiful shelter is placed. Its raw exterior blends naturally into the landscape and the warm and welcoming organic interior embraces the visitor. The warm fire in the fireplace just adds to the experience. The walk is easy with a gravel covered wide path. Do not get intimidated by all the Norwegians in the parking lot dressing up in fancy trekking gear. You can easily manage in normal warm clothes and a pair of sneakers. Because of the high altitude it will be chilly, even in the middle of summer so bring something warm. shorts and t-shirts will not be enough. The view from the top is spectacular and well worth the effort. local guides even installed a camera when we were there to offer a view of the wild bisons in the area.

It's a very pleasant walks to go there from the parking area. The viewpoint is nicely placed and it's an indoor venue. They actually have a fireplace there, so it's quite warm inside. Beside the reindeer watch, I was also listening to the guide from reindeer conservation institution I guess. And the explanation was very informative, interesting and well delivered.

The toll for the Hjerkinn-Tverrfjellet road to access this location is 49.59 SEK. My car is registered in Sweden, and I automatically settle all my tolls in Norway through Epass24. Despite this, a month and a half after my visit, I received an invoice for 348.35 SEK, which included a collection fee. All foreign visitors should know this, and I absolutely do not recommend visiting this place.

Rondane National Park, Norway's oldest national park, is a breathtaking destination that boasts ten peaks soaring over 2,000 meters. This stunning area features well-marked hiking and skiing trails suitable for adventurers of all skill levels. Families will find it an ideal spot to explore together; while some paths may require traversing snow or small rivers, the experience is rewarding with picturesque views of cloudberry flowers in bloom.
A beautiful National Park with better weather than the coast due to its location. Many hikes for all levels with cabin and cabin options along the way! We hiked the known ‘triangle loop’ including a summit.

The great place "Must " to visit with families. Kids can come here , the road is not that much difficult, some part walk on the snow, some part walk on a small river. This time is time for couldberry flowers , you can enjoy it ,take a picture. The last past is difficult because you have to walk up all the time, but "Be strong " is fine. # Prepare well for hiking shoes because all the way have a lot of stone if shoes are not good ,you can hurt your feet. You can also hike visit another mountain ⛰️ around there. Recommend for visit 🇳🇴♥️💕

It was a pit stop at Rondane. The confluence of at least 3 streams flowing down from the mountains into a free flowing beautiful river, is beautiful. It is a wet land area and rich in biodiversity. The small wooden bridge across the river is lovely. One can take pictures on a giant wooden chair. All in all, a nice place for a brief stop. There is a wonderful viewing spot near by from where one can see lots of mountain peaks.

Magnificent place. It's a tundra. Many beautiful places wort to visit. First park in Norway.
VaP I — Google review
This is a beautiful park. There are a few things you should know though. Most of the walks are big. This is especially so since the trail is rocky, I mean super rocky! Like Sylvester Stalone was your hike! It's also marshy and muddy. An experienced hiker with a 15kg overnight backpack will be lucky to do 3km/hr on average. Furthermore, it's mostly above the treeline, temps drop in the evening and it gets windy if you're camping. Staying in the Hut is about 50 euros per night per person and breakfast is also expensive, so do bear that in mind. However, trails are extensive, well marked and views are stunning!

Beautiful and amazing place. Approximately 5 hours from Oslo. A lot of hiking trails in the mountains. I stayed at Rondvassbu, which was a great and cosy place to stay. Felt like being in a homey cottage. From Stange (which is th3 furthest place you can drive with your car) it is possible to rent a bike and cycle in to Rondvassbu. If I stayed in Rondane for a week I would do day trips and walk from cabin to cabin.

We had twice luck. First the weather was good and second our guide, Emily, found the musk oxes quick. We walked a total of +/-8km, but Emily told us that sometimes they need to walk 20km to find them. The area is astonishing, really beautiful. We absolutely recommend it. Bring your own food, bring warm clothes, it's really windy and cold out there. Emily gave us some tea/coffee. Just a quick word about our guide, Emily. She was super friendly, you see she loves what she is doing. She answers every question and reads the body languages of the animals really well, which is important. She gave us the possibility to take beautiful close ups from the musk oxes. And we absolutely love british humour. So with everything, huge thanks to her.

We had an amazing day on the Musk Ox Safari. We saw a Musk Ox herd and two females. Our Guide Morten knew a lot of interesting facts about flora, fauna and history of the national park. He brought a telescope through which we could see the animals very well. Would absolutely recommend. Thank you very much 😊
MR — Google review
The trip that took place on July 16, 2025, was a disappointment. The guide showed us musk oxen from a distance of about 4 km. They were impossible to see with the naked eye and barely visible even through professional equipment. That was the whole trip. I believe that charging €50 for this kind of walk is definitely excessive. If the organizer guarantees (as stated on the website) a 99% chance of seeing the animals from a distance of 200 meters, I expect it to be true. If not, the money should be refunded.
Mateusz P — Google review
I had a wonderful experience with Al. We were lucky to have spotted several musk oxen from close up, and they actually moved towards our perch so we could get a closer view from about 50 meters, after which we moved a bit farther for safety. We saw a heard of 5, with 1 fully grown male and female, one baby ox and two growing males. He carried a telescope so that we could get some nice pictures with our phones and we also got some complimentary cinnamon buns and tea/coffee :) With the telescope we saw a few that were a few kilometers away, maybe 20 in total. We did not have to walk a lot, and the whole trip lasted about 5 hours with a group size of about 15-20. He was very knowledgeable, while being funny, and we talked about arctic foxes, lichen and how to measure snowfall by looking at trees, among other things. I would really recommend taking the tour with him, if you can arrange that.
Medhansh R — Google review
Our guide Sigbjørn was excellent. It was a good combination of hiking, explanations regarding flora and fauna, with a focus on musk ox of course, and general information. The group of 19 participants was a bit large but nice. We had great Musk Ox sightings for quite some time. Clearly recommendable! Special thanks to Tell for carrying the coffee.

We decided to do the Musk Ox Safari, which was an 11 km hike (up hill in the beginning) with a guide, Hedda. She was really sweet and helpful guiding us and answering questions. We saw two Musk Ox on another mountain and around 7-8 far away (about 7 km away) from us. It was therefore very important to have binoculars on the trip. Hedda had a very pro kind, which she borrowed us to see them. Super nice hike even though we didn’t see any Musk Ox near us :-) We also got coffee and cinnamon buns on our lunch break. Very nice!
Cecilie M — Google review
I went on the musk ox safari guided by Erlend Ekeland (Al). We saw 9 musk ox in total, including a couple of young ones (one a few months old, the other a yearling) and two males. We were able to get fairly close to them with Al ensuring that we did not disturb them in anyway. Cinnamon buns and coffee were of course a treat, but the best part was Al's enthusiasm and knowledge. He clearly knows the area like the back of his hand, and is extremely passionate about the nature the national park conserves. Would highly recommend, and will even try to come back in the winter months. Brilliant!
Ben B — Google review
Did the musk ox safari with this company. The guides were great! Fun and personable. We spotted a few musk ox from a VERY far distance (you could only see with a specialized telescope they brought). Unfortunately wild life acts on its own accord and it is never guaranteed to spot wildlife. But the guides are well educated about musk ox and did their very best till the last minute to ensure we saw one at least and that was appreciated. There's various ways this company could have improved this experience that I feel they failed to mention. 1) Musk ox are cold weather animals. I did the safari on a very very hot day. The hotter the weather, the farther the musk ox migrate, the more you have to hike and the less likely you are to see them. 2) Due to the hot weather and other circumstances, we only saw musk ox through the telescope. Considering it is called a safari i expected a more closer encounter, enough to where i could actually see them from a distance and take photos. It was unfortunate. It is not a true safari but more of a "guided hike". The pathways are clear, labeled and paved and very much could be done on your own with binoculars and a sharp eye. 3) The tour group was way too big. We had 22+ people in our group. With such a large group doing the hike of various ages, hiking abilities, etc. Often we found ourselves waiting for the people with not as much capabilities to do such a strenuous hike. It was quite steep, hard and a 6-7 hour day. It made it harder on a hot day. Please do not attempt this if you aren't much of a hiker, except in winter when the musk ox are likely lower on the mountain. Many elderly individuals and families with kids couldn't make it all the way to the top due to how steep it got. 4) They could have done a better job on their website explaining musk ox preference for cold weather, the hiking abilities expected. They did "split" the group safari day but still way too large of a group. Made an impersonal experience. I presume if we did get close to a musk ox it would be alot of people and we'd scare off a musk ox with this amount. They also changed the meet-up location for me 15 minutes before arrival, while I was driving up. Ghe guide tried to talk through and explain the instructions while i was driving. It can be hard this way. The guides were patient and kind with everyone and checked in alot which was nonetheless appreciated. Grateful for the experience, just wasn't worth the cost for me.

Больше всего впечатлила поездка на поезде 1908 года. Билеты нужно бронировать заранее, потому как на поезд можно и не попасть. Детский восторг от этой поездки!
