€7 for this fabulous 13th Century Abbey, with oooodles of history, before and after, the remaining building you see today. This huge monastic building , with its cloisters, nave, transept and 46m tall towers dominate the town. Allow time to wander, imagine times gone past, changes to the religious feelings of the days. There are information boards scattered throughout, an informative leaflet in numerous languages, and guides on site for more if wanted. We noted headsets at €5 and you can have a tour guide too. Unfortunately the monks house at the very top of the grounds was shut (no explanation). The bakery has a little display in it and is worth a walk over to it via the walled garden area. Toilets and gift shop on entry/exit. Very interesting, great value, definitely worth a stop if in the area.

extremely beautiful ruins in a very green park with gigantic old trees 🌳. we first walked around, then hung out for a bit in a ‘beach’ lounge chair that we could move to a spot of our own liking, which in our case was a spot in the shade of a huge tree, right in between the ruins. if you're visiting on a sunny day and you need a break from driving around, bring some water and a snack and perhaps a book and plan for up to two hours here. 😌

Amazing place to visit and walk around these fantastic ruins. We visited on a very hot day but managed to find plenty of shade in the grounds with plenty of seating provided. Parking was also very accessible around the town, there was a long residential road opposite where we parked on the verge like most people were doing.

On a little sign (and noted on the back of the free visit pamphlet) we found the link to the Jumieges 3D app and it really made our visit (available in English, French, German, Italian). The free basic pamphlet is available in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch. There is a free audio guide on the app and a function where you can view a recreation of what you would be looking at in the past. Note that guided tours are exclusively in French. You can choose to pay €5 for an audio guide tablet available in French, English, German, and Italian. There are lots of areas to sit down and the trees provide good shade on hot days. The exposition in the Logis Abatial at the back of the property featured artists predominantly from Tunisia and it was worth a (free) visit as well! We visited from Rouen by bus for a day trip and a few hours was all we needed. You can buy bus tickets to get back to Rouen at the Tourism Office because you cannot pay by card and the app doesn’t work well.

Beautiful setting and much larger than first appears. There are lots of paths in the grounds to take, and the abbey ruins really are spectacular. We we're surprised that there was no cafe, and food/drinks were not on sale. There is a cafe in the town close by but this doesn't open until 12.00.

Very old romanic cathedral, 7th century built, later in Gotic style extendet. The monastery was plundered after the French Revolution and the stones were used for local house construction. If the original monks had known this, it would have been in a drama. Very impressive to look at, nice reception and shop. The bar opposite has cold beer too!

Visited the abbey several times in the past years. It is a beautiful place. Last time (in 2018) we got a tour in the abbey church by one of the monks. It was very interesting. The museum shop has moved in another building. The monks sell self-manufactured tableware, religious books and food. The buildings are in good shape. The bell tower Saint-Nicolas is impressive. It's definitely worth it to participate in a guided tour. Have to speak French though.

Lovely village with half timbered houses and gardens full of flowers. The old abbey dating back to 9th century has close links with Canterbury England. Lots of history and peaceful gardens for contemplation. The eglise in the village with modern stained glass windows is a must-see

Lovely day out here. The kids (11 & 4) had a great time. They loved the inflatable, horse ride, go karts, boats, jeeps, merry go rounds, ice creams and the goats. Spent about 4 hours there. Good value for money

It was interesting, but not really our cup of tea. It seemed many people enjoyed the tour, but it fell short of our expectations. Also, not being drinkers, the sample tasting of the Benedictin liquors did not sit well with either my wife nor me. But, as I said, I think the place is great for most visitors, just not a match for us.

My family loved our visit to the Palais Benedictine! The building is stunning with such an interesting collection in the museum. We enjoyed the welcome cocktail and love that we able to bring home the souvenir cups! So clever how the cocktail recipe is printed on the cup. They even gave our daughter a non-alcoholic beverage. The staff and tour guide were friendly and knowledgeable. We took an English tour and our guide was charming! Such fascinating history. It was nice to have time to explore the museum on our own before the tour. The setup of the displays with interactive screens was very well done, the tour was well organized and informative, and the tasting at the end was a fun treat. Great experience!

Palace is beautiful and interesting, but it’s just a couple of rooms - and I think it doesn’t worth 60 eur for 2 persons per visit (tickets + audioguide)

It was an interesting visit, also giving you the chance to enter this beautiful palace. Unluckily there are only two kinds of tickets, children and adults, a bit expensive because they include several liqueur tasting even for the people who do not drink. There is a fresh welcome drink served with lime juice, then the tour starts with the discovery of flavours, ingredients and history of the liqueur, ending with the final tasting of all the kinds of Bénedectine that are produced, and that are also available in the shop.

We can only be "awed" by the architectual offering!

Nice palace and tour, but it’s a shame to provide only one English session per day. On the web site they mentioned that it’s not a problem - you can get a audio guide - but it covers only 50% of your, next 50% will be conducting in French language (producing, cellar, etc).

Interesting place to visit. Only organized groups tour are allowed. We didn't have English speaking group, so joined a French language group and received a brochure to follow up. A couple of rooms were closed, so the tickets' price reflected that - it was correct. The guides were pleasant and answered our questions in English, when was possible. The video went into loop, so the group was seating and watching it second time - probably scared from exam at the end of a tour:) The tasting was well organized with 3 out of 4 type of spirit presented. Overall - a pure touristic spot. We left with a feeling that it was questionable to drive 45 minutes for it. Average value for your money.

Worth the climb. The gardens were beautifully planned and reacted the local environment. The garden was the perfect companion to the art. A cup of tea and a treat in the cafe was the perfect full stop to a lovely moment in Etretat.

I think this botanical garden is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. There are so many different installations in a relatively small area. I didn’t spend a lot of time there, but it was definitely worth it – it’s quite big, and that’s part of its charm.

This place is absolutely beautiful, so good that even the weather didn’t ruin our experience! 10/10 and so happy we visited! Would be great if one day they got given the rest of the hill to make perfect like this place, it would definitely make Etretat UNESCO World Heritage worthy (as if the wonderful sea arches wouldn’t be enough already)!

Worth a visit if you’re in Étretat. Nice place to take a stroll during the afternoon and escape from the heat. Lots of cool exhibits on display. There’s also a cafe inside the garden if you want to take a caffeine break.

tourist scam for 12 euros. garden is very small, there are like 5 heads sculptures. you can see the sea from only one point, which is a dedicated photo area but since the garden is on the cliff there’s a better view right next to it and it’s FRE OF CHARGE. these 5 heads are not worth it and you can’t even take a normal picture because of the crowd of tourists. i don’t even know what else to say..

The natural formation is in itself spectacular but it's the color of the ocean around it, the color of the cliffs, the sound of the ocean, the waves, the cries of the seagulls, the tall grass growing on the hills bending to the wind, the wild flowers, creating that picturesque landscape, all coming together for an unforgettable experience and ambience. When it's cloudy, the colors are so special somehow. The walk up to either side to the see the views is not bad at all, like a ten minute climb. Enjoy your experience! Take a picnic up to the top of the hill to enjoy the serenity longer!

A piece of heaven. Loved the place long time back when I went there for work and fall in love with it. A wonderful place with an amazing view. This time spent a full day and weather was exactly what you expected to have the best experience. A must see place in west of France

What more can you say? Stunning natural rock formations, a postcard-worthy arch, crashing waves, and... scattered German concrete bunkers. It’s a mix of dramatic cliffs, windswept plains, and wartime history that somehow works. The views are breathtaking from both above and below — and when the wind picks up, walking becomes a full-body sport. A place that impresses without even trying. :)

Absolute must see in the Normandy, breathtaking views and a unique feeling. Very crowdy, don’t try to park in the city , you will fail :) better to stay a kilometer or so before the coast and take a walk instead. Or go there early in the morning, then you will be able to find a parking spot near the edge. Otherwise be prepared paying 25euros / day to locals offering parking spaces in their gardens :) Lot of restaurants and shops in the area, but most important are views from the cliffs. There’s also a small „train” which takes you to the cliff on the right (that one with church on the top) .

The arch and scenary is, like in so many places around the coast of Normandy, incredible. Walking to the top is worth it if you want to enjoy the view. A few things to note: Walking to the top takes a while and may be exhausting. Given the step stairs, it is impossible for people having problems with walking or stairs. Though some basic railing exists, especially children should be very careful. Especially around summer the area is a tourist hot spot and therefore full of people. This will certainly slow you down too.

This place is amazing! If you are into hiking, I'll recommend to you to park your car outside the downtown. Go to parking area so called "my parking etretat" and then walk few minutes to small street called "Petit Valaine". At the beginning it's lil bit climby and then you will find big field on your left, and golf course area on your right. Just walk following the golf shape of the golf course until you'll find the magnificent view. This path is unofficial walk, but I saw some local going through this path and also this path is MUCH better because there is no STEEP stairs (I noticed the official path has steep stairs). So with this path, you will just go downhill instead of uphills. Worth to try.

The Pont de Normandie is an impressive feat of engineering with a striking design. Crossing the bridge offers spectacular views of the Seine estuary. However, be prepared for a toll. Despite the cost, the experience of driving across this iconic structure is well worth it.

Such a great time saver and a spectacular view. We made the mistake of walking over the bridge with the kids and we were covered in what looked like crude oil from the exhaust fumes, but nothing prepared us for the largest selection of human excrement we had to dodge on the pavement. Even this hadn't laid the ground for the poo museum under the supports. I assume this is based on a twenty year long collection. Who curates this? A true work of genius we won't be returning.

This place is a must visit when you are in Honfleur. Also right next to it there is a Eugène Boudin Museum, where you can look at this church painted by different artists in quite different styles. So I highly recommend to visit both !

Beautiful early wooden church built apparently by ship builders the ceiling looking like a boat. Some lovely stained glass windows. Donations or purchase a souvenir coin or light a candle. A must see if in Honfleur.

A wonderfully preserved wooden church made by shipwrights and dating back to the 1460. This is France’s biggest wooden church and a rare survivor. There is some lovely arches inside with chapels and plenty of room to look around. There is entrance fee but a donation can be made.

This is a city from Sec XI which remains in the 11th century in terms of acessibility. It was really good if the responsible for the town mantenaince/repair to think about the people with reduced mobility because they can't visit or even get close to the city streets, so difficult, even hard it is even with all the help of my friends. Don't come close... Disappointed !!!! So disappointed.... AVOID if you use a wheelchair! AVOID if you use a scooter! REDUCED MOBILITY AVOID!!!!

Wonderful wildlife park. Animals all had lovely large enclosures but were still remarkably easy to see. Only 1 cafe open today but food was tasty and plentiful. Plenty of toilets which were all very clean. Free safari train was also great fun and gave closer views of some of the animals, with additional commentary in English. 3D cinema was good despite not understanding all of what was said (was only in French) could still make sense of the story.

Great zoo, there was not too many people (end of September), you can really see all,animals wothout disturbing them much, we took a private visit to girafes and bears, it was great! Good restaurant at the entrance. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic zoo where you really feel like a visitor in the animal's domain. You see in the animal's eyes that they are truly at ease and happy. Other zoos look like they were built around the paths, here the paths are built through their habitats.

Incredible zoo. Truly met and exceeded my expectations. I have not seen so many animals so close before in any zoo. The animals look well cared for, and there are many 'interactive' exhibitions. Cannot rate this zoo more highly for a fantastic day out.

I was carried away by all these 5 star reviews and expected way too much. Maybe because it was August, but it was a Thursday, however it was just too crowded. Yes, the zoo or let’s say wild life park is amazing but apart from the giraffes you cannot get really close to any animals. Still to see the hippos and rhinos is something else. Too see animals close you had to manage a crowd of 20-40 other spectators and try to get a peek. Very stressful, to walk the path was in line and I had to wait 20 minutes for a safari train. They are still worth it and take you to parts of the park that you cannot access otherwise. Worth a visit but brave yourself for a crowd.

Unique angular and modern architecture with a single tall steeple covered in coloured glass. Worth the trip to go inside to admire the colours. Even the seating is non traditional with pews on the sides of the central stage.

What a beautiful church, I lovely walk upto it past some boutique shops, it's cold inside (we visited in February off a cruise) but the stained glass and serenity is wonderful. €2 cash to light a small candle if you are thinking of this, no cards here as far as I can see. Free to enter here too.

Visiting this church was one of the greatest and most meaningful experiences of my life. The building is simply stunning - impossible to adequately capture in words. I lit a candle for my departed daughter. 10 years on but never forgotten.

I was over the moon to have stumbled across this magnificent Basilica . In my ignorance I had never heard of Saint Therese of Lisieux , I certainly have now . What a glorious memorial to her this glorious building is . I could have spent days here and loved every minute of it . Bravo to the designers and builders . The locals must be very proud of Saint Therese herself and their memorial to her . I am so grateful to have been given the chance to visit . Merci Beaucoup .

A surprisingly extensive exhibition that takes you right through the cheese-making process — literally through the factory. You walk in a glass tunnel between rooms where the magic happens. Tasting included, of course. The shop at the end is dangerously tempting, with a massive selection of Norman cheeses. Educational, tasty, and slightly risky if you're weak around Camembert style cheese. :)

Visiting E. Graindorge Fromagerie was one of the highlights of my trip to Normandy. The interactive presentation was truly impressive—well-designed, engaging, and incredibly informative. It offered a rare opportunity to see the entire cheese-making process up close, from the milk to the final product, with plenty of insights into the craftsmanship behind each stage. What stood out most to me was how beautifully the experience celebrated Norman tradition. You can feel the pride and heritage in every detail, from the historical displays to the stories of local farmers and cheesemakers. It’s clear that this isn’t just about producing cheese—it’s about preserving and sharing a regional identity that has been passed down for generations. Whether you’re a cheese enthusiast or simply curious about local culture, this is an experience not to be missed. And of course, the tasting at the end is the perfect way to bring it all together—delicious and authentic!

Interesting place to visit to see how different kinds of cheese are produced locally at the factory. From one side the place is very touristic - groups are coming by busses one after another. From the other side the place is organized very efficiently to allow for such a flow of tourists. The visit is free, because at the end you exit via factory store selling all kinds of cheese they produce, as well as many other items (targeted to touristic purchase habits). The tour itself is very informative, with explanations (in French language only!) and allows a pick at the production areas where you see factory employees busy at various stages of cheese production. Worth a visit if you're nearby.

A nice museum/factory to visit; good for groups and families (even with small children). It’s free to visit, and the tour doesn’t take long. Most signs and plaques are bilingual (French-English), the videos have English subtitles, and at the beginning of the tour are resources in a number of different languages. We learned a lot from the tour and enjoyed seeing the different cheese-making processes. At the end of the tour, in the shop, you can sample the cheeses. The only aspect that I think could be improved would be to make a tasting an official part of the tour. You learn so much about the different cheeses in the museum, but it’s difficult to remember the particularities when you’re just quickly sampling cheeses in the shop. It would be nice to have a tasting with a museum guide offering explanations of each cheese and recalling the information presented during the tour. Of course there are employees in the store who are knowledgeable about the products and would be able to answer questions, but you don’t exactly want to monopolize their time when there are so many other customers in the store.

The farm has a fabolous touristic circuit, museum and production facility and ahop. It is free, we really enjoyed it. The ice cream we bought was a great extra!

Very nice place to stay. Many amenities. Very helpful staff and friendly. It helped that they spoke enough English to make the stay smooth. The only complaint would be the small rooms. They are smaller than we are used to here in the United States but very manageable. Most of the time was spent outside of the room. Indoor & outdoor pools along with other spa amenities. Located on the beach. Within walking distance of many places to eat & shop & sight see. Offer bicycle rentals for further excursions.

Very nice an d new facilities, the hotel was built in 2013, they have recently added an extension. We had the "garden view" and use the junior suite for the 4 of us. The rooms are okay just enough space for 4 humans. But the bathroom is really good with a shower and a bathtub big enough to 3. "le poisson d argent" restaurant of the hotel as a nice sophisticated menu even if the service was very long. The cocktails at the bar are awesome. The whole personnel is nice and friendly.

While I've been to better castles, the draw here is the impressive interactive elements that really bring the place to life. My son loved it. Great views from the top as well.

The exterior grounds allow dogs, but not inside. The restoration is unique because the castle was besieged so many times so there is concrete, steel and glass instead picking one particular period to restore to. The architecture of the well shaft in the tower is amazing as is the rooftop although I am afraid of heights. Different than other castles, but an interesting take. Walk around to see the castle from different angles, don't worry about getting straight to the entrance.

Amazing to see but the website said it was open but we could only walk around the inside the castle grounds because the castle inside was closed. A big disappointment travelling so far and not to go inside. Even the museum by town Square was also closed this was on a Monday. We didn't want to waste time waiting so we continued our journey towards Spain.

Best castle I've ever been to!! The castle looks incredible, it's in really good condition and is in an imposing location. The display boards and interactive tour using augmented reality via tablets (which including a little treasure hunt) were absolutely brilliant, an engaging way to learn the history of the castle. I hope other castles can follow a similar approach. I cannot recommend this castle enough it's a must visit!

Not much of a castle but mostly ruins and some wall and courtyard structures still standing along with some minarets. A nice place for a hangout and picnic during the nice weather! This was a quick visit and free as well.

Inside, there are several playgrounds for children and a nice park with benches where you can relax and rest. Within the walls, you’ll also find a café and a museum, and you can walk along the entire rampart. From the tower, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Caen from above.

A wonderful experience which is free. The castle grounds are extensive and the view from the towers is spectacular. There are several art installations in the grounds including a Rodin. A good shop and also a nice restaurant

This historic site is really interesting with it having a medieval castle ( with its walls still being mostly intact) and a museum to look around. I really enjoyed looking around and being able to have a first person experience with one of Caens most historic landmarks. The views of the city below are beautiful with you being able to see miles in every direction. Would definitely recommend for lovers of history.

I don't know who was in charge of placing the museum entrance to the other side of the main building where you can't find it, not too smart. I mean seriously how much income are you losing because you're hiding THE FRONT DOOR!? I was ready to buy a ticket when I entered the building that looks like it should be the entrance to the museum, but I was abruptly brushed off with "Go to the other entrance on the other side." I looked for it, I could not find it. So I kept my money in my pocket and look at all the ancient buildings and the un-celebrated RODIN modestly hanging out by the path. I had just paid a lot to see his creations at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and it was awesome to see Rodin's Working Man sculpture right there out in the open. The 2000 year old buildings were great and the many benches and wide Open spaces were relaxing as a public park. Mid afternoon, there was a cafe but it wasn't open. If I were the Mairie of Caen paying these people, I wouldn't. Their incompetence and lack of people skills is costing money that you could use to pay better employees.

Was really surprised we were able to access the castle at anytime, it is a beautiful place to wander around and look over the city from atop the walls! Well looked after, great stop when in Caen!

The site has the Normandy museum and the Musee des Beaux Arts as well. A full day with restaurants within walking distance for a lunch break.

We visited this abbey on our way from Étretat to Mont Saint-Michel Castle — it’s definitely a place worth including in your Normandy itinerary. Entrance to the abbey is paid, but access to the church itself is free. The church is located to the right of the main entrance. Parking is convenient — right under the abbey.

One of the must-see sites in Caen is the Abbaye aux Hommes, a former men’s abbey with centuries of history and an example of the blend of Norman Romanesque and early Gothic architectural styles. Come here as early as you can and allow 4 hours for the visit if you want to read every sign. Its absolutely worth it as you learn so so much. You learn about William the Conqueror, about Caen in Dday, about the high school that was once here. You can see the ruins from the bombings in the nearby buildings across the Abbaye. Lots of information provided and difficult to imagine what was once happening here.

Came to see William The Conquerors tomb, but the Abbey & its exhibitions next door are so much more! Definitely a must if you are visiting Caen

Our tour was just incredible! Ana was our guide and Sebastien was our driver. They were simply amazing and so knowledgeable. I thought I knew a lot about WWII until Ana shared some amazing stories and facts on our tour. Highly recommend!!!

It was amazing, well designed and very interesting. There’s also a bunker and a special price for students (€6). Many interesting displays are worth seeing, and I would definitely recommend visiting this place.

Fabulous museum. Excellent presentation of the historical path leading to WW2 and the subsequent events, not only in Europe but across the world. Balanced and even handed treatment of the role played by all sides (good and bad). Good blend of objects, images, videos and textual explanation. Perfect closure to a few days visiting the historical sites of the area. Highly recommended.

This is “THE” Normandy to take. Private tour with our wonderful guide Lena. Very knowledgeable and so informative. If you don’t want headphones and don’t want to read every placard this is the best way to get the Normandy experience. Even if you are not a WWII buff or into WWII history you will really enjoy this tour. I highly recommend it.

Very impressive stretch of gardens, fields, overlooks and trails. There are farm animals, mini golf, an ice cream shop and a small cafe in the park, even a par cour course for children. It's just lovely and I would highly recommend a visit.

Free parc. Love the inclusive playground. Subtheme in little pieces of the parc like viking/asgard garden. Maze is fun to do with young kids. Everything was very neat.

Peaceful and beautiful park with animals, flowers, roses, greenery, fountains and views. Car park right next to it, there is a mini golf and toilets also. We really enjoyed and think if we would like close by this place would be our reading, chilling spot for sure.

Great park to learn about the environmental issues. The whole park has been built on a waste dump site. Now, it is covered by trees, roses and vegetation, but below it is full of plastic bottles, glass, cans. There is a great demonstration area about the history, and a cross section of the waste below. Otherwise, the park offers a great panorama view on Caen, has a little farm with animals, unfortunately no direct access to the animals for feeding and touching. There is a nice playground, and several tracks for walking. The car traffic nearby is high at one side of the park, but inside it ok. There no protected bike lanes to reach it, but at least there is a bike parking in front of it. If you are visiting Caen as a tourist, I think this is a must see experience to learn about current environmental issues. And a great place for children to run around, play, and see some animals.

Hugely impressed with this park. Hadn't realised it's origins until I was reading about how the site was previously the council dump. Absolutely worth a visit with the kids. Many different things to see... including dipping your feet into the fountain to cool down. The views are great and the gardens are very well maintained.

The model railway is wonderful - huge, with so much detail - and lots of love has gone into making it. During the visit you have a guided tour session to view the railway, plus the chance to go on a small train around the grounds, and visit the lime kilns. There is a nice cafe and playground on site as well as shop and toilets. As a result we spent more time here than expected and it felt like good value for money.

Perfect spot for children of all ages. The miniature train set up is amazing, built over the last 50 years. The children loved being able to stand on the railing to really see all the detail. A ride on the train was next then some jumping on the inflatable train. Non stop action. We enjoyed delicious afternoon tea as well. Highly recommend a visit.

The sheer size of the set is amazing. It is also interactive and so it is great for kids and adults. The food looks a little expensive, but the quality meets it perfectly. There is a large area next to the restaurant where children can play as well as a large 'bouncy train'. As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Ok but not for model rail enthusiasts. We travelled some distance for this since the advertising suggested a high quality very large layout. I'm sure the flyers exaggerate the size of the layout and what's there is a very simplistic over busy, toy-like layout which you are limited to half an hour to view, much of which is in the dark (pretty lights for sure but too long not seeing much). The layout is a mix of French and German stock and is crammed full static rolling stock and locos as well as traffic jams of lorry's. There plenty of fun features to spot and button activated animations to engage the kids. All in all not terribly realistic but quite fun. The garden railway is also limited to one ride per ticket and isn't all that special. There's not a lot else to see so you could be done in 90 mins without rushing. Fun for kids and reasonably priced but don't travel an hour to see it like we did, expecting a whole days railwaying fun

First of all, the train layout is fantastic. A lot of attention to detail and it looks great. The not so good... Access to the model train building is limited to around 30 mins. You are allowed in as a group and then ushered out half an hour later. The trains only run during this time and you can't stay and watch them. It's a little disappointing when your paying almost €10 to get in per person. The food on site is not good value for money. There are no vegetarian options (even the cheese on toast is pre made off site). It's not cheap and is very basic (assuming they even have the things you might want in stock). The pizza and chips (which is around €10 also), is a mini frozen pizza with around 8 flakes of grated cheese on it. There is a mini train ride which you can also go on once and lasts around 4 minutes. On site, there is a bouncy castle (well, train), the model railway and a mini railway ride to entertain kids... It takes around an hour in total. For a family of 4... We've spent almost €80 here on what I'd probably not want to spend more than €20. The place has potential but just isn't engaging enough for what it actually costs. Would we come again? No. Would we recommend it to others, possibly... But I'd make it clear that the price is far higher than similar attractions considering the amount of time and engagement you have. I wouldn't recommend the food or drink... Even a coffee was €3.80.

Wonderful, magical model railway. Even Mrs. S thought it sublime when put into night mode. One of those attractions built by one-man and his son that France does so well.

I found my visit to the Bayeux Tapestry Museum to be fascinating. The audio tour was engaging. The rest of the Museum is engaging, and visitors learn plenty of history. PLEASE NOTE: tickets can only be purchased at the door; no tickets are sold online. I visited in August, on a Saturday in the late afternoon, and I only had to wait around ten minutes.

Visiting the Bayeux Museum was an unforgettable experience. The tapestry itself is perhaps the most extraordinary exhibit we have ever seen. The audio guide was excellent and made the story come alive. We felt very lucky to visit on the second-to-last day before the tapestry closed for restoration until 2027.

Nice little museum in Bayeux housing the famous Bayeux tapestry depicting the story of the battle of Hastings 1066.. In fine embroidery detail... Surprisingly how long and how detailed it is.... and definitely worth seeing if in the area.. Entry fee of around €12.. Fyi.. the museum is closing September for refurbishment and the tapestry is coming to London to be displayed Yes worth a visit and certainly take time to explore the town

Great museum to visiting, however it's too crowded. Consider arriving as early as possible in the morning to avoid waiting for hours to enter. Although an audio guide is included, it can't be paused once activated, leading many visitors to rush through viewing a tapestry in about 20 minutes and then leave after. On the other hand, story and details deserve to remain in the main exposition for as long as you want and explore multiple times.

Big queues if you haven't already got a joint ticket from another of the town's museums. Amazing to see this wonderful art in person. Somewhat spoiled by the man videoing his way along (against the rules!) and the people holding up the line - they could really do with a staff member in the tapestry room to chaperone. Also there was the bonus exhibition of Pixi models, including their rendition of the tapestry. The museum is closed from 1st Sept 2025 for 2 years while a new display space is being built.

Surprisingly good for children. They get their own separate audio guide which keeps it moving, and keeps it interesting. We were out in 30 minutes. The tour could have been longer for adults certainly! The tapestry is incredible, precious, expressive and enlightening. UNESCO listed, as almost 1,000 years old.

Magnificent cathedral both inside and out. Has impressive stained glass windows and interesting crypt. My favourite installation is a board running round the outer part of the crypt (mimicking the Bayeux Tapestry) but simply recording history in plain words from Jesus to present day listing significant events, eras and every single Pope with the length of their term ..fascinating

Wonderful cathedral that’s worth a visit. You may even be lucky enough to hear the amazing pipe organ!! During the summer there’s a wonderful and dazzling light show, inspired by the lush, colourful world of Alain Thomas — a master of naïve-primitive painting. Well worth seeing. This ancient church is so amazing. Bayeux is an amazing town and this church at its centerpiece was a marvelous surprise. There was a seasonal night market I found and shopped for some lovely trinkets and delicious local sausages. Then at around 10pm there was amazing light show on the surface of the church. Just an amazing place. I think my next trip to France will be strictly a stay in beautiful Bayeux.

This is a beautiful cathedral located in the heart of charming Bayeux, France. Looks stunning on the outside, especially with the background being the countryside small town of Bayeux. You can enter the cathedral for free and tour the inside in under 1 hour. The inside architecture is stunning and beautiful!

Small but superb museum. Far away from the crowds with many interesting items both from germans and the allies. You can see rifles, pistols, uniforms, military viechles, bombs and watch a movie about WW2 in a movie vie hall. The most interesting thing for me was the small diorama that was built there. So if you are visiting Bayeux this museum is a must see.

If you want to know and focus on the D-Day invasion and then liberation of Normandy, this is a good museum for the chronological and factual accounting of both sides. Available in French and English, there is a good deal of written material to accompany some artifacts from small to large set pieces. A few are outside in the parking lot area. Free parking. Wow, this place is amazing and haunting at the same time, unbelievable what these men did for our country. The place was immaculately looked after, so pristine. There is so much love from the French to the British all around this area. Makes me proud.

Very informative museum with loads of interesting displays just allow enough time to get round all the displays. The CWWG Commission Cemetery is very close by and within walking distance. Plenty of parking on site.

Very well-organized museum with detailed exhibits and original World War II artifacts. It clearly explains the context of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. An emotional and must-see visit if you're in the area.

If you like military history, this is a fabulous museum. It focuses on the landings in Normandy and stops at Falaise pocket. The uk occupied Bayeux so there is a strong Uk element to the story. The story and pictures are moving. The hardware interesting. The signs are detailed and you should allow 2 hrs if you like to read and study the info. The shop on exit is good.

Very interesting and comprehensive over view of the campaign. Some great exciting exhibits of uniform and equipment too.

A beautifully well kept cemetery which shows respect for the war dead. We visited the German and American war cemeteries which accounted for the fallen from the Normandy battles and this is very different. It is completely open, the cemetery has the graves of British, Canadian, French, Soviet, Italian and many German graves. It is well worth visiting to walk amongst the fallen.

One of the highlights of our trip around Normandy. We had visited the American cemetery earlier the same day, but for us, this one was even more emotional. Of course, it being commonwealth had a lot to do with that given where I am from, but I loved the way it was laid out, the flowers brightened it up and the care that was taken here was something else. Emotional and poignant experience for all my family (we have several WW2 veterans in our close family). I was most struck by the young age of many of the fallen, many the same age as my daughter who was by my side as we walked down the well flowered aisles. A far more touching and accessible tribute than the American Cemetery.

My visit to this cemetery in June 2024 during the 80 year remembrance of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy was a chilling and humbling experience. So many lives were shed and paid to bring about peace in the World. May we never have to go through a war like this again. And yet, at this moment the Ukraine is involved in a dragged out war with Russia. And already thousands of children, women & men were killed in Gaza in the war with Israel 😭😭😭 “From Wikipedia …The Bayeux War Cemetery is the largest Second World War cemetery of Commonwealth soldiers in France, located in Bayeux, Normandy.[1] The cemetery contains 4,648 burials, mostly from the Invasion of Normandy. Opposite this cemetery stands the Bayeux Memorial which commemorates more than 1,800 casualties of the Commonwealth forces who died in Normandy and have no known grave.[1][2]” wikipedia

A very moving but a beautiful & peaceful last resting place for those who lost their lives in the Battle for Normandy. I was in tears in front of my teenage son with the enormity of the loss of life and I find it hard for those buried whose name is not known. As I was walking through the cemetery, I noticed a grave with a distinctive surname which is in my family. Without initially realising it, I had discovered the grave of a previously unknown third cousin and it was afterwards when I researched F A Deeming that I realised that Frederick Alfred Deeming was a relation - He has now been added to my family tree so he will continue to be remembered. Free to visit.

Given that this and other sites are dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that I and others can enjoy our lives. As I walk around, I stand in silence. I hope that they believe the sacrifice was not in vain. Given the young age of the soldiers, I know that I have led a full and happy life, all thanks to those who fought so that I did not have to. In sorrow, I look at those graves of the unknown soldiers with a lot of sadness that they are lost and known only to God.

Absolutely sobering experience. Almost 5000 graves of young people who died here in 1945, during the D Day landings and the push for the liberation of Europe. Immaculately kept by the war graves comission. Do consider donating.

We’d not heard of the zoo before but happened to pass the zoo on our way to our accommodation, and decided to visit the next day. It’s by far one of the best zoos we’ve visited and is very good value - especially compared to zoos in the U.K. We were lucky enough to see all the animals, including the Puma hiding. Staff are very friendly too.

The visit to the zoo was quite enjoyable. We spent about three hours here. There are many different animals to see, all of which appeared to be in good health. You can follow two walking routes through the park. There is ample parking available, and the surrounding area is very wooded. The food offerings are limited, but that's not a big issue. There are also demonstrations, though only in French, and not much happened apart from some feeding. All in all, it was a nice experience. The toilets, however, were not of great quality in terms of hygiene.

Great zoo with two walking loops lasting about 3.5 hours. Wide variety of Animals who looked in great condition and the white lion was particularly spectacular. We used a Groupon discount but no family tickets were available.

A perfect day out for the family, lots of animals and they are very well looked after… take a pack lunch the restaurant is slow and expensive but apart from that it’s a wonderful zoo.

Went here while holidaying in France and we were glad we did. The park is very clean and all the animals are well kept and looked after. The park is split into two areas, yellow and blue. Yellow you will find the more exotic animals while the blue you will find your more domesticated animal. Both area's are great to wander round and both are easy even if you find it difficult to walk. Plenty of area's to sit and view the different animals. The price is 18.50euros per adult, a family ticket you are looking at 45euros which is for 2 adults and 2 children. Children under 3 go free, there is a cafe where you can get a drink and a snack or you can opted for a full blown meal in the restaurant. While we were there we never saw a zoo keeper, which I don't know is a good or bad thing as the animals all seemed very contented and all were on display. If you are in the area I would highly recommend a visit as you will enjoy your time here.
