Staff were really friendly and accommodating despite a language barrier. I was even given a free salad! Food was some of the best me and my friends have ever had and is well priced. The restaurant atmosphere was incredible as well. We all agreed we would absolutely eat here again 👍

The food was delicious and the waiters really helpful to translate to English for us. They even had a English menu. The place was warm and the pizza oven in the heart of the restaurant. It felt like an authentic Italian family business.

Fantastic, very touristy nowadays but there are still some hidden gems that are quiet but you’ll need a car to find them (one was through an industrial estate so very hidden). Restaurants are great and people very friendly

This would have been beautiful in the right weather. It was just our luck that we arrived in the height of Summer, at the end of a heatwave and were met with heavy rain and thunderstorms o the water didn't have its famous greenish-blue hue. It is a lovely natural beauty surrounded by mountains.

I was just remembering how much we loved it there last year. My son and I rented bikes and went all around the lake. We also got a pedal boat and took a swim. Saw some young people doing a rope swing jump and did that too. Fabulous.

I took a day trip from Lyon, a great place, I'm sorry I only stayed one day, it's definitely worth 2-3 days! A place not to be missed if you're in the area!

It is a MUST to go, partying, water scakating, swimming and lots of boat cruises around the great lake surrounded by magnificent mountains. 30 min away and your up amongst snowy mountains as early as September.

Impressive cathedral with wonderful views of the town. A bit of a climb up steps if one takes the wrong route, but in any case well worth a visit. Large, quiet, peaceful, stained glass, statues, carvings, small and unobtrusive gift shop. Not overly commercial, and free to enter, as it should be but in some churches is not. We were here in early July and it was a nice walk along the lake to this museum perched on a small hill in the middle of a lovely park. Please visit the grounds even if you do not step inside the museum. Nice views over the lake and pleasant outdoor Olympic related art and information sprinkled through the outdoor grounds and all of this is free to access. Inside it is a well curated place with lots of information for an Olympics fan. We did it all in about 2 hours. The gift shop is where you buy the entrance tickets. Pro tip: if you do have a ticket and are there during the daytime, you do NOT need a lunch reservation to simply have a drink on their glorious outdoor terrace at the restaurant on the top floor. We just asked the host if we could sit outside for a drink and he enthusiastically said of course! What views!!! Drinks were not cheap but not more expensive than any other restaurant. So if you are curious and didn’t make a lunch reservation, please do stop by and see if you can snag a seat outside. The staff were kind and helpful.

It is obviously a must visit museum if you are in the Olympic capital Lausanne. Everything is very well presented. I particularly love the video clips introducing every Olympic Games through the years, as every clip begins with important events of that year. I’d very much love to finish them all but my schedule doesn’t allow me to. All the collections are inspiring and hold collective memories of people from all over the world, some of which remind me of the days when I was little and watched on TV the Olympic Games with my father. The -1 floor is fun. View of the lake from the terrace of the restaurant is stunning. Free access for Swiss pass holders.

Very nice. We were desperately looking for a clean bathroom that’s also free lol. It’s nice to see the poster of the Beijing Olympic in 2008. Unfortunately we only found the poster card but not many other souvenirs options such as fridge magnet for the Beijing Olympic.

Olympics museum is a must visit place for all Olympic fans. The location is stunning on the shores of lake Geneva in Lausanne. Infrastructure of museum is excellent with free locker rooms for storage. You study entire history of Olympics from its origin in Greece to revival of modern Olympics. There are archives of summer and winter Olympic games, mascots and models of all Olympic torches, Olympic uniforms etc. The museum used excellent multimedia to present everything. There are videos on projector screen which display opening ceremonies of all Olympic seasons. However, Olympics museum has lots of scope for expansion considering its huge space. You can have interactive games like FIFA museum in Zurich. A Hall of Fame can also be made featuring most celebrated Olympians of all times like Michael Phelps. A special section for upcoming Olympics can also be done. Hope to see these updates with passing time. Entry to Olympics museum is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

This museum is located facing Lausanne (Geneva)Lake with a nice park in front and is very well connected through road and metro rail network. It is a fantastic audio visual experience indoor as well out door and must see for tourists. Plan to spend at least 2 hours here and you will cherish it.

We spent there more than 2 hours. Interactive, with plenty of interesting information, surrounded by a nice park, with a great view and even access to a beach. If you are in Lausanne, must visit. Tickets are 20 CHF per person, no needed to buy in advance.

Avoriaz is, without a doubt, the best ski resort we’ve ever been to — and that’s saying a lot after more than 30 years of skiing! Everything is designed for maximum comfort, with ski-in/ski-out access from almost everywhere. The resort is fully pedestrian, which makes getting around incredibly easy and safe. The staff is genuinely kind and helpful, and to our surprise, we haven’t had to queue at all for the chairlifts — even during busy hours. And the snow? Absolutely amazing, even at the very end of the season. We’ll definitely be coming back — and recommending Avoriaz to everyone we know!

This beautiful ski resort is very active in the summer with plenty for the family to stay active. Whether mountain biking, hiking giant games of checkers, chess and tennis plus trampoline. The aquatic center is an excellent family swim . The beautiful French Alps surrounding the town

Great skiing resort. We went over new year so was a bit busy but also great New Years Eve celebrations and midnight fireworks were amazing. All staff we talked to ( in hotel, restaurants, shops etc ) were lovely and friendly. Would recommend for 1st time skiers , families or someone who likes ski fun parks too

Love Avoriaz. It’s like home - a nice friendly place. Resort is great, slopes are fantastic. Its can get overcrowded at vacation time and some places are overpriced but overall its a great place for a skiing holiday. No cars in the resort, only horse-drawn carriages which gives it a special atmosphere, along with the wood-covered buildings which blend into the countryside.

What a lovely ski resort in French Alps. Beautiful place with no cars alowed. By winter, there is a taxi from centre, horse pulled sleigh. They give you a blanket to cover legs, so you could not catch a cold 🙃 I will come back in summer, to see again this paradise!

Lovely and wintery with snow all around in this high altitude snow sure resort. Cars aren't allowed in the town so it's safe to walk around too. A bit artificial in feel though compared with nearby more traditional resorts, partly due to its newness, so this may make it feel less homely and welcoming in the summer. Wonderful in the winter though. Great skiing too.

Truly memorable place, great people (one or two not so good!) totally ski in/ ski out place scenery to die for and something for everyone from the beginners to the more experienced skiers. Bars and restaurants great apart from a certain Italian! Booking our return trip!

Well maintained castle, modestly furnished, with a collection of interesting frescoes and murals. Strategically built on a small island, it used both the Lake Geneva and a moat created between the island and the mainland for defense. Our group had arrived in the late afternoon just in time to enjoy free wine tasting of some local wines, then proceeded to explore the medieval halls and underground chambers. The view from some rooms onto the lake and the Alps is stunning. It is the most visited monument in Switzerland.

This lakeside Castle with breathtaking view was stunning, pictures didn't do it justice. Its magical setting made it one of Switzerland’s most enchanting landmarks. I fully enjoyed my visit, highly recommend.

Château de Chillon is actually really big to explore, especially with the guided map they provide you. I was so tired, a lot of exploring new rooms that never seem like it would end. If you didn’t know, this castle inspired Prince Eric’s in The Little Mermaid. You can hear tons of water sounds by the prison area. It was relative peaceful for me as there weren’t much crowds and kids, so sometimes I got to explore rooms alone.

Beautiful castle (Little Mermaid was inspired on it) with lots of history. I really recommend taking the audio guide which is super complete. It lets you wonder alone around the castle which is a magical experience. The castle is in great conservation, and the dungeons are particularly beautiful. Would recommend this visit if you’re around. You can buy tickets directly upon arrival, and the audio guide takes like 2h to complete

The best view I’ve had from any castle I’ve visited so far. The castle is beautifully preserved, with authentic medieval furnishings that clearly took great effort to maintain. It’s generously open to the public, with access to nearly every corner—even up the creaky wooden staircases, which add to the sense of stepping back in time. Free entry for Swiss pass holders. Two hours or longer is needed.

Fascinating experience. We spent several hours wandering through the castle. The careful preservation of this site allows an understanding of history, with excellent access to all areas both indoors and outdoors and detailed information boards throughout. It is also a lovely lakeside walk from Montreux (after ferry from Lausanne) and a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating is opposite. A truly wonderful morning.

Chillon Castle is a medieval island castle located on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, near Montreux. It is the most visited historic monument in Switzerland. Come for their nice history and good lake views, indeed very photo worthy! After all it’s free with SWISS TRAVEL PASS.

Great tour with ear phones you point to displays and learn more. I spoke to a chocolate decorator who has been there 25 yrs and he loves working there. Learn how to evaluate chocolate quality and taste and then get to sample many varieties of their chocolates. Superb place!

Absolutely worth a visit! Maison Cailler is an amazing experience from start to finish. There’s plenty of parking space, which makes visiting super convenient. Inside, you get to enjoy lots of free tastings of their delicious, high-quality chocolates every bite is a treat! My family enjoyed it so much The museum is beautifully done, fun, and educational great for both adults and kids. Outside, there’s a lovely park where children can play and enjoy the fresh air while you take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. A perfect spot for families, chocolate lovers, and anyone visiting Switzerland. Highly recommended!

We went on their tour, and it was an good experience! They had a ton of free samples and some really cool education and history. I wouldn’t drive there for 3 hours, but if you’re in the area, it’s definitely a nice stop.

Cailler museum was a pure delight. There was a separate production line just for samples. Loved every bit of the museum from the history of chocolates to modern day chocolate making in Switzerland. Of course the free samples and the discounted chocolates in the gift store were icing on the top!

The Cailler chocolate factory is a very interesting place to visit, with a well-designed tour that shows the history and production process. The experience is enjoyable and the chocolate tasting is definitely a highlight. It is a bit expensive, but still worth it for the quality of the visit. The shop at the end is excellent, offering a wide selection of high-quality chocolates and gifts

Arriving was a little intimidating. We went at a 4:00 on a Sunday, and the line waiting to enter the tour was already out the door. The way they have their store set up is very aesthetically pleasing. A whole wall full of chocolate bars! The tour its self was very entertaining. You are lead through different rooms where they tell you the story of their factory, with each room heavily decorated to tell you part of the story, going perfectly along with the audio tour. They had a chocolate machine making little chocolates right in front of you, which, after being wrapped, were then placed in a bowl specifically for you to eat! They had multiple testing stations after that, which I loved. It was all around worth every penny.

The ski resort is very large and you can have fun regardless of your skiing level. There are also many hiking trails that allow for wonderful snowshoe hikes. The natural surroundings and views are fantastic.

Arguably one of the ugliest ski resorts in the French alps, however, this is in stark contrast to the excellent ski area, fast lifts and varied terrain. If you are an avid skier or snowboarder this is one of if not the best resort in the alps to visit.

This was my first time skiing in the Alps. I highly recommend this resort to all skiers ⛷️ and snowboarders. You will love the slopes, people, and food.

Amazing ski resort! Several ski slopes and many possibilities for other activities. The bobsleigh descent is unforgettable.

Beautiful well designed apartments for skiers and walkers (depending on the season). Beautiful views of the mountains and lifts (depending on which side you're on I suppose). The apartments are compact but with 2 twin bedrooms, 2 bunks and a double sofa bed, with ease you could fit 8 people in ours. Galley style kitchen is best suited to one person cooking at a time so pre-plan to share the cooking duties if possible. Good extractor fan and each apartment is well appointed with plates and cutlery for 16 (2 meals a day) and a dishwasher as well as breakfast bowls and a host of utensils. We were only short a grater and a potato masher (apparently not French essentials). There a multiple lifts to various parts of the buildings as well as a lot of basement bootrooms/lockers to store your boots and skis and keep your apartment dry. The complex has a code entry to the pool, when you want access - daytime only (closes at 7) and no access on Saturday (change over day) with a new code each week. A 5 minute walk to the local Spar shop makes this a very convenient location with a Restaurant next door to the Spar as well as one opposite the entrance to Lagranges. The Ski and board hire shop is spitting distant from the complex check-in with convenient ski racks located around to stash your skis whilst you buy passes or snacks. The ski-pass system is very flexible at the resort with options for beginners being circa €35 a day, half day options, full resort passes, multi-resort passes and a pedestrian access pass to access the top of glacier via bubble lift for only €8! Superb. The resort is at 1800m so well above the snowline with easy access up to 3000m for fresher snow more often. Snowed again just as we left so if you're looking right now it's perfect for a last minute get away (9/01/23) enjoy! Back again for New Year 2024 - snowed every day so far and the trails are well groomed. Swimming Pool has been renovated as well as the wooden features across the resort.

Great ski resort especially if your using a motorhome parked right next to the main run back to La Plagne. Electric at the end of every row (which didnt trip once) and water is located at a hut at the entrance of site (short slippery walk). The while of thus network is mostly made up of about 70% blues 25% Reds and 5%blacks although many of the blues are more red like. Some great places to eat around the area but it is pricey.. €9-11 a pint !!! Food is around normally UK prices. The roads leading up the mountain to Villages was always mint ( the French know how todo it) the only time we had to put chains on was at the start of the aire as its not as well maintained as the main roads. I'd defo go back to this site and la plagne.

Your amazing ride starts in the center of chamonix, there you will take the most thrilling cable car ride if you life. With the best views, grass that turns u to snow, and trees that turn into massive cliffs. Aguille du midi is a must for everyone. The views at the top are truly out of this world and make you seem so small. Would recommend to everyone visiting chamonix. Give out of five stars

Excellent view of the Alps from here. We were fortunate that the sky were clear. The view is better than the one we experienced in Jungfraujoch.

Wow!!! Just stunning. Exceptional views 360. Will do again. Review will not do any justice. You just have to go. Nice cafe as well. Stairs from elevator to cafe was a bit of a drag in the thin air. Wife’s lips turned purple from lack of oxygen. Be aware of the signs.

Incredible view . The beauty is breathtaking. You can see the highest peak in Europe from afar. Many people paragliding here. It is a must-visit place in life.

The cable bus from the Chamonix city with a change over in between takes you to the peak of Aiguille du Midi. This peak is exactly in the border of France and Italy. A 20 minutes journey of ten each takes you to the peak. To see the mont blanc, you have to take a pass like temporary visa to the italian side and from the peak to which a lift is taking you, you can see the mont blanc. There is also a glass cage with dead drop bottom. The view from the top is magnificient. It takes you to the view of entire iced surroundings. The mont blanc is the highest peak of Alps. More famous for limited edition pen. They are allowing a total of 2 and half hours to see and come back. On a sunny day, the views are beautiful. The climate is sometimes minus in the peak

Amazing experience. They give you a paper to indicate you have a time to get off the mountain to avoid rushes. Even though it was for 1.5 hours as the recommended time, we spent close to 4 hours (with about 1.5 hours for queuing for the glass dome alone). This was an unforgettable experience and highly recommended.

A breathtaking journey to the highest peak in the Alps on the Italian-French border Starting from the Italian city Courmayeur, a charming town 1,300 meters above sea level, I began my ascent via the Skyway Monte Bianco. I purchased a round-trip ticket for €63.5 at the main station. Punta Helbronner (3,467 m): The final destination was magical. The temperature dropped to around 1.8°C with a light wind, making it refreshingly crisp. From here, a 92-meter below a tunnel leads to a ski station and an open-air restaurant. I made my way to the top terrace—what a view! Standing above the clouds with 360° views of the Alps was an indescribably beautiful and humbling experience. Breathtaking panoramic views of the highest mountain in Europe. Even though I was there at a pretty cloudy day, view was just one of its kind. I was disappointed that the triple cable car was open only one way to France, and nobody could return (because of different regulations).

Wonderful day trip in summer up this mountain via cable car. Don't miss the Refugio and the area covered in snow beside the Refugio.

Stunning views of mountain peaks, an entire glass wall dedicated to local gemstones alongside a view of Mont Blanc and a lovely little cafe where you can sip quality coffee while you admire the peaks! Even though during my visit there were quite a few clouds, the various platforms and views from this height were spectacular. It does get cold at the top observation deck (since you are standing around) so I would recommend an ultralight down! To get around the observation decks (external) you do need to do some stairs, but the building (internal) itself with the cafe and viewing areas is fully accessible! From this point, you could pay for the additional trip on the Mont Blanc Panoramic cable car that takes you over to Aiguille du Midi! I would also recommend going early- so you get fewer clouds and crowds!

The location and pools were great. Most pools had luke warm water with the exception of the pool at the top, which was hot. The dry sauna was hot and delightful. The inside water rooms were fun. My problem was with the staff. The young lady with brown hair and glasses who was in charge of seating for the aperitif on August 1 at 1900 was very rude. She came to our table and instead of making polite conversation with us, she told us story after story about how our home country was full of stupid people, we don't know geography, our food is bad, and we all go around waving guns. Although she has never been to our home country, she was sure to tell us everything wrong with it. It was uncomfortable and insulting.

Amazing experience! From the very beginning staff were nice and helpful, the service was great throughout. The location is absolutely perfect - you swim in the hot water underneath the snowy Mont Blanc. The views and scenery is gorgeous. The place’s facilities are great, the have plenty of hot baths (covered and outside) so it is never too crowded, and they have saunas, relaxing area, massages and lunch. The food at lunch was excellent as well. You receive everything you need - a towel, slippers and a robe, and even a change of robe if you have lunch. The shower area is very well equipped and well designed. Absolutely recommended!

Not the best experience at this spa, we went there at 6, and given a happy hour at 6:45. Which we completely missed because there is only a single clock hidden in one of the buildings. Also we where not told that there are no food options on the premises, so we went hungry for our time there. Many people brought their phones in to take pictures, videos and face time, this made us uncomfortable. I would not recommend people going to this spa for a relaxing time, the view is wonderful, but you don't need to be in this spa to see it. Also there where no employee's to speak to about issues.

The facilities are great. The Lady with classes working in the Bistro was very rude. We were not informed that the Bistro was only available up until a certain time. We missed the slot and were Rudely expelled

Absolutely stunning spa getaway in the mountains. Went here while on a rest day in Coumayeur hiking along the Tour du Mont Blanc, and it was the highlight of my rest. Felt refreshed to get back on the trail the next day.

The views are beautiful. However, Was extremely disappointed here. (Only used spa and had lunch and aperitif) Have been to various QC TERME and this has to be the worst for service. The hospitality staff were rude and I wont go back to this particular qc. That being said every other QC has everything.

The terme was nice and relaxing, but there were no signs to help people find their way, especially to the upstairs rooms. First-timers might miss the stairs. Better guidance is needed, and people with lone hair should be asked to tie their hair more properly.

Very good quality starters (cold cuts and cheeses) typical from Italy and Spain. We chose Pasta (very Well cooked) accompanied with an artisanal beer. Nice desserts and friendly staff. We loved it. Didn’t give 5 starts because the restaurant itself is not “wow”, just a simple cozy bottega. But food-wise definitely worth it!!

Had a wonderful lunch with the family today. I definitely recommend the cured meats and cheeses platters, as well as the tagliatelle with culatello and parmesan! But generally speaking we were satisfied with the food and wine. The location is cosy, especially the 'underground' area. Service is nice, and you can purchase most of the products you have enjoyed after eating (which we definitely have done!) - we will come back!

The food was amazing, we tried the cheese and ham plate, that was really good. Beyond that, we tasted the tagliatelle and the polenta that were excellent. But, unfortunately, our experienced was affected by one staff that didn’t treat us very welcoming when we tried to get a table in the restaurant.

Delicious lunch here, a cute little 7 seat restaurant with wonderful local dishes and an amazingly inexpensive wines by the glass list. I only wish we had more of an appetite so we could have tried some of the meats and cheeses they had in their shop, but the tagliolini with butter, parm and white truffles was perfect, and the polenta in the La Carbonade was one of the best I’ve had!

A little pricey and they won't serve you tap water : you have to buy an expensive bottle. Other than that, great food and nice staff!

Amazing food and wine plus 10/10 service - our favourite meal of the week hands down. If you are in Aosta this is a must!

Nature is so beautiful, lots of marked trails for hikers and so clean. It is a stunning experience and such a lovely place, recommended for both hikers and those who are not. Train ride up there is around 40 minutes from Zermatt if you are planning to go all the way up, or a bit less if you are planning to hike a bit till the top station.

Phenomenal - very beautiful mountain surrounded by very beautiful landscapes and a great small cozy town, Zermatt🤩. I was there in July 2023 and it was amazing. We had lunch at the restaurant in Schwarzee which was also with a very good view of Matterhorn and the surroundings. I can truly recommend going here, for sure!

This is an awesome mountain. Really steep on the cable car (what do you expect people who have put too steep) and nice and cool from the warm temperatures below (as you'd expect being 4000m above sea level).

Iconic Switzerland at its best. The views of the Matterhorn are simply world-class. Whether hiking, skiing, or just relaxing, it’s magical.

Beautiful mountain scenery and cute sheeps. On Matterhorn, the sheep season was already over in October. But we were lucky to find sheeps on the hills west of Zermatt :)

Probably the icon you could think about Switzerland! Spent 3 days in Zermatt, found it not too difficult to have a look towards the peak as the distance and altitude is not that far away. Rifflesee (Gornergrat area) gives the best view with a mirroring lake surface. The 5 lakes hike in Sunnegga is also spectacular. Both hikes are easy and almost all downhill if you hop off the cable cars from higher stations.

In my experience it was way better than Jungfrau. My family loved it. You can take the tram to the second to last stop and start walking down along the track for a beautiful view of the lake, the top of the mountain, the valley.

This is the pinnacle of Matterhorn visit for any tourist. The highest cable car station with temperatures hoovering around sub zeros. Here you have three basic options one to visit the panoramic 360 view tower through a lift, second you can walk on the glacier upto the hiking trail to Breithorn and third you can the glacier cave by foot with mesmerising snow sculptures, crevices of glaciers to view live, and a walk through the sub zero temperature. You can easily spend atleast half a day but last of the cable car being at 6 p.m.

I definitely recommend, there activities for the whole day! First go to the top, enjoy the view and snow, you can climb the mountain if you want, enjoy Ice Palace, then. Go slowly down, there is lots of trails , lakes, there is amazing restaurants with the breathtaking view. I started 8.30 and came back to hotel 6pm... It worth every penny!

Overall, this is a great ride up close to the mountain. There’s a bunch of activities to do once you reach Klein Matterhorn. The cable car ride itself is worth the price because of how high it takes you and the views you get. However, if I compare this to Jungfraujoch I felt like our experience was much better in Jungfrau. If you’re in Zermatt though, this is what I’d recommend going for vs Gornergrat.

Wow...we were not sure when we arrived on Sunday evening as it was raining and we could not see anything. We decided to do the glacier paradise which was the best decision. Going up, we ran into heavy clouds and snow, we could barely see 4 m in front of us. The cable car was awesome. There is an ice castle with ice art, amazing stuff. Take extremely warm clothing, it gets below 5 degrees there. There is a good coffee and food shop, with other stuff like gifts, etc. There was snow so we got to play in the snow. The view point was closed unfortunately due to the heavy winds and the matterhorn was not visible. Overall, I'll do it again. And, ALWAYS GET A FULL OR HALF PASS DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU PLAN TO STAY. Half pass for short stays, full pass for longer stays.

Climbing the glacier at 3004 meters above sea level was an unforgettable experience. An elevator can also be taken down to a cave with ice images, part of which is located in Italy. The platform is with the elevator up and in good weather you can see an unforgettable view of the Matterhorn.

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise was absolutely amazing. Easy gondola ride up from town, and the views at the top are insane. You’re surrounded by glaciers and massive peaks, and you can even spot mountaineers and skiers out on the snowfields. We hiked the Matterhorn Glacier Trail partway down, and the scenery was nonstop. Alpine lakes, rocky terrain, and the Matterhorn in the background the whole way. Easily one of the highlights of our trip to Zermatt.

Absolutely mind-blowing experience. I cannot recommend this enough, especially if you choose a day with perfect weather. The views are stunning from top to bottom. The Glacier paradise doesn't disappoint, the statues are amazing!

I must have travelled the freeway below this massive fort controlling the narrow passage between the steep and dangerous mountain sides more than a hundred times over the past 30 years without reflecting on what you might find inside. This time I took a day trip from home in Switzerland with the aim to discover this surprisingly interesting place steeped in history lasting over 800 years. It's now owned and administered by the region of Aosta and houses 6 museums, a large museum shop, a cozy 11 room hotel and restaurant as well as a café. If you buy a simple entrance ticket you will access two exhibitions of your choice, if you want to see all six museums, the price is about double the ordinary entrance fee. There is ample parking around the castle, the near-most being paying. Access is either via an ingenious series of funiculars or by foot on a winding road. Avoid visiting on a busy day not to spend your time waiting to access the funicular system. I came on a Friday afternoon mid May 2025 and was surrounded by 15 year olds trying to learn Italian history, not the most serene situation. You do need a full day to fully appreciate the place so I will come back to spend a night here before touring the premises.

So much to see here! There are 5? main buildings, each housing different museums and (temporary, rotating) art exhibits. Costs €12 to visit 2 of any things of your choice or €24 to visit everything. But you can visit all the exterior fort for free! This is definitely worth it if you want a quick look and get a good view from the top of the Fort. If you want to visit the museums, you'll need a few hours to spare! Our 2 choices were both in the Carlo Alberto building (at the top). We did the Museum of the Alps which has SO MUCH to see, and quite the diversity of history and information. This took us 2 hours and we didnt look too closely at half of it. Could definitely take 2-4 hours depending on your interests. Absolutely 1 of the best ways to spend a solid chunk of your day here. 2nd, we did the prisons downstairs in the same building. This was cool but much quicker (like 30 mins). It was a toss up between the prison and the Ferdinando building at the bottom.. unsure what all that offers or the time it takes to visit. In total we spent about 3 hours here, and could have spent much longer if we got the full package. Lots of history here and offers a neat view of the valley. I would recommend it, but again, you'll need time if you want to visit any museums. I personally didnt care to visit any of the art exhibitions. From what I've gathered, they kind of have nothing to do with the Fort itself, so didnt seem worth any of my 2 choices.

Have you even been to Valle d’Aosta if you haven’t visited Forte di Bard? The structure is just impressive in its size and location! Inside is pretty bare, but the museums and exhibits are super interesting.

The castle is beautiful, no doubt there. However, we wanted to take a quick walk within the walls, and there is unfortunately no ticket allowing you to just stroll around. You have to purchase a ticket for 12e which allows you to enter 2 out of 6 available exhibitions/ “museums”. Maybe it would not be that frustrating if a couple in front of us wasnt allowed to enter for free by stating “we only came for a walk” in italian. We checked the japanese exhibition which was rather mediocre, not much to learn from it. We would appreciate some story behind and more descriptions behind the pictures. The other exhibitions was the prisons which was more interesting - you can see the real prison rooms and how the castle was evolving over time.

Wonderful place . Breathtaking and perfect for a day with children . Nice museums, nice view and the staff was really nice .

19th-century fortress, part of the fortifications of the Aosta Valley. The fortress is well maintained and houses a rich permanent exhibition (about forts and fortresses throughout history), as well as interesting temporary exhibitions. Entrance tickets: - €12 for visiting the fortress itself and two exhibitions - €24 for visiting five exhibitions Both tickets include access to the lifts. The ticket price is absolutely worth it.

You can take nice pictures from the bottom or you can buy lift ticket and go up to see panorama of Torino... If you want you can go up by foot if you are in good condition... I recommend you to buy ticket for elevator and tour in advance... View from the top is amazing, all city and Alps... Inside you have to see nice museum... People who work there is so kind and helpful... All recommendations for visit and take some nice pictures and videos if you are in Torino...

The history part was interesting, and the layout inside was unique. The modern cinema section (the main part) now seems a bit anachronistic, as it focuses on a fairly narrow era of cinema. The part where cinema technology moves into gaming felt the most contemporary but it was not much. Note that when I bought the ticket online, there was only the option to buy a combined museum + panoramic lift ticket. Yet when I tried to get on the lift I was told my ticket was only for the museum. There wasn’t even a way to buy the tickets separately on the website so I’m not sure how I could have done it wrong. Anyway, I decided to skip the lift rather than buy another ticket. So I’m not sure if you should buy a ticket in advance, actually.

Nice Basilica to visit. Spectacular view from top of the mountain. I'm not a football fan so I haven't heard about Turin's team tragic aircraft crash near by. So it was something new to find out and learn. Speaking about Basilica's open time it is ridiculous.. Honestly.. It closes from 13:30 to 14:30.. Why? I understand if museum office might be closed but not church itself. We went in 13:18 and we were told by staff member that it is already closed.. 12 mins before schedule. Also pretty complicated to get there. Bus or funicular goes only once an hour..

Beautiful Basilica on top of a hill with panoramic views of Turin and the Po river. We used the Turin tourist card which I can't recommend enough. The staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful views and an interesting story behind the Basilica.

Beautiful place on the top of a large hill overlooking Torino. Had a tour of the Royal Tombs of the House of Savoy. As well as the room with the collection of portraits of popes through history. The center gardens are beautiful. Unfortunately the day we were there visibility was poor so didn’t get the view of Torino so many talk about.

This Basilica is absolutely stunning and you can feel the spirit when you enter the building. The back story is very interesting and shows how compelling people of history really were. I highly recommend visiting this place if you're in Turin. Please be respectful though!

The best place to view the city with the mountains in the back. In the morning there was a lot of mist so I think sunset here is amazing and the Basilica is open very late. A lot of people have their date here at the evening with a glass of wine.

A beautiful and serene basilica with amazing views out over Torino, and the Alps when the weather permits. A beautiful place to light a candle and say a prayer for a loved one or take a name card for someone who needs a prayer too.

Be sure and go on a clear day to optimize your visit. If the weather is poor the cupola will be closed but you can still see the crypt and the apartments. I recommend seeing all the options even though the guided tour is in Italian if you don’t speak Italian they have a translated info packet about the tour so you won’t be clueless. The crypt was the most interesting as it is still in use for distant relatives of the savoy family. The most recent burial was just a few years ago. The architecture of the building is stunning! Parking was easy and the guides are so friendly. The weather was moody and foggy the day i went so the cupola was closed but the visit was still worth it to see the church and the crypt.

Took train from Biella. Ensure you get return ticket as nothing at Candelo train stop. Walked to Ricetta, about 10 minutes.. Free to enter. Interrstingvstone constructions. You can purchase items within the Ricetta, but we ate outside before going in. Delicious Gelato across the road too. Probably easier if you have a car. Historically interesting.

Beautiful Medieval Town. It's a must. The photos speak for themselves. Don't miss it.

In August, it's mainly empty, Moreover at the beginning of the week. A little veg n fruits stall was open, a collection shop and artist's as well but nothing else. The place was empty. Then you understand it's mainly an attraction and it's not maintained in total respect of its origins. So the place isn't history immersive as it could be.

Stunning medieval borgo, completely maintained in medieval style. Once you enter the tiny Borgo, it's like being transported throughout history to the past. It has some boutiques and taverns to have a full experience of the place. It's really fascinating and a one-of-a-kind experience in the middle of northern Italy.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve visited in Italy ✨. The area is blessed with breathtaking nature and stunning lake views ⛰️🌊, along with cozy restaurants, cafes, and small local markets that create a charming atmosphere. Taking the boats to the nearby islands was an unforgettable experience. A perfect spot for relaxation and natural beauty — highly recommended 🌟.

We visited the Sacra Monte with 20 chapels that recreate the life if St Francis of Assisi. Very nice and easy to walk once you drive up. Had great views of the lake island and areas.

Beautiful spot to visit, hike, relax and honestly what ever you feel like to do. There is some much to do here. It's very relaxing to be at as it's not so busy and if it's busy it's easy to get away. Scenery is amazing. Breath taking. Stunning. See pictures. I recommend definitely to try to be on the lake either by boat or kayaks.

What a beautiful place

Lake Orta (Italian: Lago d’Orta) is a lake in northern Italy, west of Lake Maggiore. It has been so named since the 16th century, but was previously called the Lago di San Giulio, after Saint Julius (4th century), the patron saint of the region. Its southern end is about 35 kilometres (22 miles) by rail, to the northwest of Novara on the main Turin-Milan line, while its north end is about 6 kilometres (4 miles) by rail south of the Gravellona-Toce railway station, halfway between Ornavasso and Omegna. Its scenery is characteristically Italian, while the San Giulio island has some very picturesque buildings, and takes its name from the local saint, who lived in the 4th century. Located around the lake are Orta San Giulio, built on a peninsula projecting from the east shore of the lake, Omegna at its northern extremity, Pettenasco to the east, and Pella to the west. It is supposed that the lake is the remnant of a much larger sheet of water by which originally the waters of the Toce flowed south towards Novara. As the glaciers retreated the waters flowing from them reduced, and were gradually diverted into Lake Maggiore. The inaugural European Rowing Championships were held on Lake Orta in 1893. A frequent ferry service connects towns and villages around the lake.

Be aware: Your ferry ticket will not cover the palace and gardens. These cost an additional 13€ per person. That said, the gardens make for a lovely walk, and the peacocks are a delightful addition. They're friendly enough to approach crowds (and we sat beside one as we enjoyed a drink at the cafe.) The path is often steep however, and contains a large number of stairs, which might cause difficulties for some visitors. Also, the palace is littered with crude waxworks dummies, which made it more like a House of Horrors than a museum.

This place is of timeless beauty, it is extraordinary and absolutely deserves to be visited. Pause to read next to each exhibited object, you will be captured by the details that at first sight the eye cannot focus. On the effigy of the Borromeo we read "humulitas", it certainly makes a little smile, in all my life I have never seen so much pomp. Very beautifull! Strongly recommended.

Palazzo Borromeo on Isola Madre, situated on Lake Maggiore, is a serene 16th-century residence reflecting the private life of the Borromeo family. Its elegant rooms feature antique furnishings, tapestries, and a remarkable puppet theatre with one of the world's most extensive collections. Surrounding the palace is an eight-hectare English-style botanical garden, home to rare plants, ancient wisteria, and Europe's largest Kashmir cypress. Free-roaming peacocks and exotic birds enhance the island's tranquil charm. A visit offers a harmonious blend of art, history, and nature.

Worth the visit! We visited Palazzo Boromeo on our half-day tour of the Borromean islands. We bought a ferry ticket dockside in Stresa for 2 islands (Isola Madre and Isola Pescatore). I really liked this palace for three reasons. 1) It felt lived in and loved by its inhabitants. There were tableaux with furnishings, paintings and statues of men and women dressed in typical aristocratic clothes of the day. It wasn't glamorous or gilded everywhere ~ that kind of opulence is what you'll find on Isola Bella, should you decide to go there. 2) There is an extensive puppet theatre exhibit in a wing of the palace. At least 6 rooms are devoted to the puppets, scenery and costumes from their theatrical productions. I felt this was truly unique and unexpected. 3) The magnificent Cypress from Kashmir. The tree was restored to standing after a struck down during a storm. Also, the botanical gardens are lovely, and the peacocks and pheasants who make their home on the grounds.

Palazzo Borromeo dell'Isola Madre is one of the residences of the Italian noble family Borromeo (i.e. Palace on Isola Bella, Castle Rocca di Angera, Borromeo Palace at Milan, Castello Borromeo in Peschiera). Family paintings, tapestries, pieces of furnitures, works of art, objects that belonged to members of the Borromeo family,.. all take us back in time and we discover the history of this great family and its influence in the Valdossola/Lake Maggiore region and Milan between the 14th century and 17th century, when the Borromeo were able to gain control of many fiefs în the region. The Borromeo family tree includes important names that have marked the social and political life of the Northern region of Italy throughout its nearly 4 centuries of glorious existence. The influence of the noble Borromeo family reached the Catholic Church as well, where they showed devotion and held important positions. The best known members of the family were the cardinals and archbishops of Milan, Carlo (1538–1584), who was canonized by Pope Paul V in 1610, and Federico (1564–1631), who founded the Ambrosian Library. Carlo Borromeo, (1538, Arona–1584, Duchy of Milan) was an archbishop of Milan, cardinal, important representative of the Counter-Reformation, canonized as a saint in 1610. Federico Borromeo (1564–1631), Italian cardinal, Archbishop of Milan, and prominent figure of the Counter-Reformation in Italy. His acts of charity, particularly during the famine of 1627–28, and his devoted heroism in the plague of 1630 are well known. He was a great patron of the arts and he founded in 1609 the Ambrosian Library, one of the first free public libraries in Europe. The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana is one of the most famous art collections in Italy, including masterpieces such as Leonardo's Portrait of a Musician, Caravaggio's Basket of Fruit, Raphael's preparatory cartoon for The School of Athens, Titian's Adoration of the Magi, the Madonna del Padiglione by Botticelli and numerous examples of the famous vases of flowers painted by Jan Brueghel, Borromeo's lifelong friend. As patron of the arts, Federico Borromeo participated in the embellishment of the Duomo di Milano, where he is buried. As cardinal, Federico Borromeo participated in the papal conclaves of 1590, 1591, 1592, 1605 and 1623. His attendance in the first conclave of 1590 at the age of 26 made him one of the youngest Cardinals to participate in the election of a pontiff. The garden of the Palace has his own history... but what we see today is a splendid botanical garden with countless varieties of plants, trees and shrubs.

The palace is magnificent and definitely worth a visit. But the real highlight is the gardens — they’re absolutely dreamy! Vast, stunning, immaculately maintained, and home to an impressive variety of plants and trees. It’s the kind of place where you want to stroll slowly and take in the beauty around you. Truly worth the visit!

Was a really interesting museum. A modern twist on wine history and leans more toward the cultural significance than the actual process of producing. Plenty to keep kids interested as well. Bonus it’s in the castle!

Nice place to spend an hour there, but don’t expect a lot…

Somehow strange, moreover a museum for imagination and inventivity; not at all what you would expect for such museum quite expensive. Old castle refurbished. Vieux from the top terrace are beautiful - you can see all the valley! Visitors are advised to take the elevator to the third floor and go down by stairs to the basement, where they can taste and buy some wine. Tasting is not free and its cost depends on the price of wine. If you do not buy wine don’t bother to go to the basement as there are many stairs and later you have to go up :)

It wasn't what I expected from a wine museum in a positive way. The mesuem starts a bit more artsy and plays on the sensations around wine. Later there is more histroical explanations about wine, where it comes from and how culture has shifted around wine. Overal a fun experience, not too long and enough diversity and interactivity.

WiMu has a different approach to some other wine museums. Rather than focussing on the technological aspects of the wine making process, it highlights the relationship of wine to the region itself. It does so using a series of informative art installations, with a different focus each room. The third and final floor felt a bit random (some history about local schooling, plus a conference room), and didn't add much to us. Overall, this was a fun experience and definitely worth checking out when visiting Barolo

Amazing museum and vine tasting experience, definitely worth visiting

I have visited this outlet regularly since its creation. What is obvious is that the quality on offer has progressively gone down with many of the stores that we liked now having moved elsewhere. And brands with good reputation appear to offer mostly their bottom of the line products, often made of synthetic materials. There are still some exceptions but you have to look hard to find them.

It’s a great shopping destination for fashion lovers looking for quality at a discount. With over 150 stores, including top Italian and international brands, there’s something for every style and budget. The layout is open-air and easy to navigate, with plenty of space to relax between shops. Family-friendly amenities, free parking, and several cafés and restaurants make it ideal for a day trip. It’s well-connected to Milan and Turin, and often features special promotions and seasonal events

This is a good outlet but not so perfect. The prices are a bit higher in comparison to the other outlets. And the variety is not so high. But the atmosphere and design are nice and friendly. There are Enough toilets and parkings. But options for eating are so less.

A fantastic open-air outlet — I absolutely loved it! This open-air outlet was such a great surprise! The whole place is beautifully designed, with wide, clean walkways and a very relaxing atmosphere. Shopping outdoors made the experience so much more enjoyable and stress-free. There’s a great selection of stores, with something for everyone — from clothing and shoes to home goods and accessories. I could have spent hours browsing! The prices were excellent, with lots of good deals and discounts in most shops. I found some real bargains that made the trip totally worth it. Everything felt very well organized, tidy, and pleasant. If you’re looking for a day of shopping in a lovely setting, without the chaos of an indoor mall, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back!

We‘ve been there for a couple of hours and luckily it wasn’t to full so we could check all the stores we were interested. Nice restaurant and cafes you can find on the main plaza. A huge selection of stores and interesting brands

Nice outlet. The walk is outside which is nice if the weather is good. The prices of American brands are a little expensive. Do arrive especially for them.

We got robbed at this place. The security at the parking lot doesn't exist and allows thief's run wild. Not even cameras are present.

Good experience for kids to see the animals very close in the car. The ticket price not too bad with 50+€ (2 adult, 1 little girl 2yrs)

The Pombia Safari Park is a wonderful place to watch animals freely roaming around instead of being confined in cages. It’s truly enjoyable to observe them in a more natural environment. The beautiful giraffes are especially captivating, and I was really impressed by the lemurs. Overall, there are quite a lot of different animal species, and it’s fascinating to watch them in the safari setting.

Super safari with the car, seeing a lot of animals closeby. Afterwards, we visited the park, had some lunch and refreshed in the water park.

Initially I felt this was expensive at 26 euros per adult, but it's really not when compared with similar attractions elsewhere. There's a lot here, particularly on the safari route itself - we did this on the train, which took 45 minutes and would recommend this option. There are parts of the park that look a little tired, but also effort going into upgrading. It was quiet on our visit today, and plenty of staff around. Overall, a good day out with a young child and would recommend.

Really worth visiting but it's a long uphill walk. Great exercise and you can treat yourself to a drink or food when you reach the top if you think you've lost lots of calories on the way up. Lots of history, beautiful views. Finding a car parking space was a challenge but definitely worth the effort & stress.

Sacro Monte is a world class experience not yet overrun by tourism, and unbelievably its free! The hour's walk from the carpark reveals the story of Jesus through 14 chapels with life sized vignettes created centuries ago. It gets steep in parts but there is a pebbled path the whole way. The view from the top is a fitting reward. A vernacular is available for those who are physically challenged. Catch the C Bus from Varese to Prima Capella (end destination). Pay 1.60 euros on board with coins or card.

Just breathtaking. It's a holy town, a destination for pilgrimages for people around, and it's full of history and charmingly picturesque. I felt like Alice in Wonderland, walking through the winding stepped streets, finding its hidden secrets. We have driven all the way up by car, but beware, the parking is very limited, there might be around 50 parking spaces max for visitors. And the vistas from the top overlook the landscape for 20km around, it's magical!

Great place to visit for the views & history. We got the bus (Line C) up from Varese town centre to the top of the hill then took the funicular up to Sacro Monte itself. Gorgeous views out over the hills, lakes & Varese itself. Lots of historic buildings & churches at the top. We walked back down the pilgrimage route passing the 14 chapels/shrines along the way. Well worth a visit.

Stunning Sacro Monte di Varese, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where we explore its beautiful chapels and breathtaking views. The Path of the Chapels is an uphill climb of about 2 kilometers (about 1.2 miles), though it feels much longer when you are walking it, as it zig-zags you up by 245 meters (about 804 ft.) and can be a little steep in places. Each chapel is frescoed inside, and sometimes outside, and filled with sculptures illustrating scenes from Jesus’ life.

Very friendly atmosphere and lovely decor make it very inviting. The staff is super nice and attentive. The food is fresh, delicious, and nicely presented. The view of the Fontana is beautiful. A perfect place for a great meal.

Amazing 75 c water just running, a place to visit when in this area We where there on a sunday so not many People. But think on a normal day there is much more. A very nice city also with a lot of shops, so if you want to see an old italian city this is a place to visit

Wonderful late 18th century natural thermal spring. Be careful not to burn your hands, it's about 75°C in winter! The town itself offers lots of cozy bars and cafes and comes alive in the evening

A very pretty square in the heart of Vigevano! It is very calm and was designed by Leonardo da Vinci! Very historic too!

Even when we visited Vigevano in one of late September afternoons the piazza was almost deserted. It seemd that people were still on holiday and most shops were closed. It had a very calm and peaceful vibes to the town. Had a quiet stroll around the Piazza and had snacks and coffee. We enjoyed the couple of hours we had there a lot.

A few years ago I read somewhere that this was one of the most beautiful squares in the world. The numerous photos by pros and tourists testify it. Being born in Piedmont, I used to visit this quaint town quite often, appreciating its medieval cobblestone alleys, to reach the piazza Ducale and enjoy an excellent ice cream. A lot has changed, nothing stays forever, but the square has maintained its grandeur. The historical shops have disappeared in favor of expensive eateries with rude and hasty service, aiming only at you spending $ on mediocre food and drinks. Head towards the hidden, narrow streets that surround it and you’ll find small pubs and food joints with courteous and amicable service and decent prices. By the way, DO visit the Sforza castle, it’s a true medieval gem with frescos, ancient and secret gardens and horse stables. It’ll satisfy your cravings for history and well kept ancient artifacts

It is an incredible city😍 because it is full of monuments and place to eat and sit having the Ducale square view. It is very recommended to come at least one time.

One of a top place in Europa, beautiful and spectacular. You can feel the history of the place. As the city put a lot of descriptions and some guide everywhere.

One of many beautiful bridges I have seen in my life, but definitely not overrated. Very stunning! It's also called bridge of sighs and has an really interesting history, which is worth a google. I'm not too sure if you can actually walk over it but you dmcould view it from afar as see in the pictures or take a ride in a gondola and float along the waterways.

Most stores look like the aftermath of a clearance sale nobody wanted. Celine’s men’s section had maybe twenty sad pieces clinging to hangers for dear life. Dolce & Gabbana? Just the bargain-bin D&G line pretending to be designer. Truly inspiring. And let’s talk about the “discounts.” They’re so tiny you’ll need a microscope to find them. Moncler’s “outlet prices” could double as comedy — same old coats, barely cheaper, just worse lighting. Add in an hour-long drive from Milan, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for regret. There were discounts in every store. You can easily find sizes. It takes a whole day to visit all the stores. Visit the shopping center on weekdays because there are very few people.

We stopped to do some shopping here on the last day before returning to our country. The place is quite spacious, the parking is hard to find, but many famous brands aren’t available here.

We had 6 hours here due to the bus we booked from Milan, we saw a corner of this place, absolutely huge! Got very good discounts and there was enough stock.

My place to go to. Beautiful little town, thermae are simple but good, the water there is special. Price are getting higher after the pandemic, a bit too much for their services. But it's a perfect spot for a day of relaxation

Totally overpriced. The place looks dated, pool areas are small, facilities are poor, and some of the jacuzzi systems do not function. The place has not been thought through, in particular the relax zone which is just deckchairs. Swimming cap, towels, flip flops are all paid extra despite very expensive tickets. We were disappointed and felt we should not have bothered to come from Genoa. Nice reception staff were the only bright side.

it was like a simple pool with poor massages. in the massage’s room there was no calming music or some scented candles. i had Thay massage and i was cold during massage. i had Fango Decontratturante e Mass. Decontratturante too and she did it only on my legs, absolutely not worth 98€!!! In the steam room there was no steam😐. Just don’t expect too much from it!

Fantastic way to unwind after the usual tourist activities and sight-seeing. Good range of facilities and treatments. Would recommend and would visit again if I return to Genoa in the future.

Well, not what one could expect from "terme". It is more correct to call it a normal spa, but definitely not a hot springs spot. The pools were cold and even the one outside with a pretty chilly water. In addition, not an easy place to get to.
