A beautiful village and very peaceful. Well worth a visit. Lovely food at the restaurant there.
Nic D — Google review
Lovely abbey, worth a visit. The guided tour was only in French though. Not a big issue, but would've been good to know upfront. We left the tour and enjoyed walking around the abbey
Willem G — Google review
Visited the abbey several times in the past years. It is a beautiful place. Last time (in 2018) we got a tour in the abbey church by one of the monks. It was very interesting. The museum shop has moved in another building. The monks sell self-manufactured tableware, religious books and food. The buildings are in good shape. The bell tower Saint-Nicolas is impressive. It's definitely worth it to participate in a guided tour. Have to speak French though.
Stanzebla — Google review
Absolutely stunning venue. Free to walk around and staff in shop are very knowledgeable. There are paid tours available.
Jonathan R — Google review
A calm, serene place with an extensive abbey and a magniificent tower. It is in a beautiful setting enclosed by a lovely stone wall with a twin-towered entrance. Parts are still in use and part is being restored. Well worth visiting both the abbey and the village

Le Bec Hellouin. Free parking for Motorhomes. Abbey very beautiful as is scenery around. A lively place to visit
Jacquie F — Google review
Lovely village with half timbered houses and gardens full of flowers. The old abbey dating back to 9th century has close links with Canterbury England. Lots of history and peaceful gardens for contemplation. The eglise in the village with modern stained glass windows is a must-see

Castle

Château du Champ de Bataille is a magnificent 17th-century country mansion located in Normandy, often referred to as Normandy's Versailles. The chateau boasts grandeur and was built by Alexandre de Crequi Berneuille in the 1600s. The property features furnished apartments, formal gardens, and a vaulted tea house that adds to its charm.
The gardens are just breath taken! You can see that the castle was very good taken care of! Amazon aesthetics inside, I loved the ideas that they put there! The library was just wow, but I wished we could have enter more, and actually sit on a chair and explore it, but I also understand the idea of preserving it! Also the Indian part in the gardens was closed, but just looking through the window was just amazing! I totally recommend to visit this beauty!
Giulia A — Google review
The gardens are stunning. House is interesting but just a collection of items from the period. Give yourself a full day to see all.
Jonathan R — Google review
We visited entirely by chance. A chateaux which was open and on our driving route. We knew nothing about it. The entry off the main road is understated, and we thought that maybe there was little to see. We persevered and continued to what is now the public carpark and entry. We could only visit the gardens because the house was open later and time was not on our side. That decision forced on us was excellent. You could spend a whole day walking through the grounds. There was so much to see, and it definitely should not be rushed. I would love to see the chateaux at night with the fountains lit and the fires lit. What an excellent place for a celebration.
Steve T — Google review
A beautiful parkland golf course with picturesque undulating fairways and woodland surrounding. Some really cool par 3s including across valleys both up and down.
Rich N — Google review
Not a great experience. To drive 90 minutes to & from Paris to this château isn’t worth it. They charge 27 euros to see the inside (only one of two buildings are open) and gardens and you’re aren’t allowed to take picture on the 2nd floor. (They don’t tell you this when paying which is deceitful) They literally had 2 hall monitors to make sure you don’t take pictures. People took the shots they could ! That was ridiculous. Considering you can see Versailles for 1 euro more and it’s 10x bigger, more beautiful, closer to Paris and you can take images! - it’s not worth to make the drive there and back. The gardens were ok nothing amazing. You have chateaux like Fontainebleau, Champs sur Marne, VLV etc that are closer, less expensive, more beautiful and you can take images. You can skip this château, not worth it in any sense.
Michael W — Google review
Outstanding castle and gardens. We have visted several times with overseas clients and the Chateau du Champ de Bataille never fails to impress with the extensive and immaculate gardens and the exhuberant collection in the castle. We highly recommend this visit.
Colette W — Google review
We only visited the garden, but it was worth it. Not too busy and the gardeners dit a tremendous job. You can spend a few hours here walking around the different styles of gardens
Mathias V — Google review
Arrived at the parking at 16:55. The place is open until 18:00, but they told us it was already closed. Maybe that was for the best, considering the ticket prices.

A great place to visit. People will invite you to a short conference on the history of Saint Valery en Caux. There's also an exhibition dedicated to the port during World War 2, stunning photos and information. And the whole visit is free of charge. Awesome!

This is a community project maintained to the best of local people's abilities. Worth visiting to encourage their effort at the very least, but please do not expect to learn too much about Henri's stay there as nothing really remains of him there

The Rouen Museum of Fine Arts, also known as the Meeting of Metropolitan Museums (RMM), is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts. Established by Napoleon, this museum boasts an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and decorative arts spanning from the 15th to the 21st centuries.
Un vrai trésor insolite! What a wonderful Sunday surprise to find a museum with free (!!) entry, no crowds, and room upon room of abundant chefs d'oeuvre from artists ranging from local stars like Bouton and Zacharie to luminaries such as Renoir, Sisley, Velasquez and Caravaggio. Cherries on top were the absolutely lovely and helpful staff (including the delightful staff member with the gorgeous earring 💜 and the coupe casquette) and the excellent selection in the shop. Also, there's a grand piano you can play surrounded by great art — what a treat!!We'll be back!
Jordi W — Google review
The Monet was a bucket list item. Easy to find. Friendly staff and such a pleasant atmosphere. A variety of amazing artists. There are a few paintings that just blow the mind with their size and complexity. Not sure if wheelchair friendly. The toilets were clean and tidy. Lockers for bags and a curio shop. Well located and has few restaurants in the area. The video attached of the Seine and the artists paintings along the river.
Vaughan F — Google review
Beautiful fine arts museum; free entrance, open daily from 10 AM. It has 2 floors; some exhibitions are paid. Amazing beautiful hall at the ground floor with 3 huge pictures made by Dufy, other big pictures and many statues. The museum houses works of famous painters and sculptors; some decorations are also on display. 1-2 hours. Highly reccomended!
Carmen S — Google review
A truly beautiful and inspiring museum — one of the best in Normandy 🎨. The collection covers everything from medieval to modern art, including masterpieces by Monet, Caravaggio, and Delacroix. The layout is open and easy to follow, allowing you to take your time and enjoy each room without feeling rushed. 🖼️ What Makes It Special The balance between classical and impressionist works is perfect. The lighting and spacious halls create a calm atmosphere that lets you appreciate every detail of the art. Many of the pieces are directly connected to Rouen’s history and its influence on the Impressionist movement. 🎧 Practical Tips ✅ Free entry — a huge plus for such a quality museum. ✅ Descriptions available in both French and English. ✅ Café and gift shop inside for a relaxing break. 🚗 Parking is nearby, and the museum is just a short walk from the city center. But its very hard to find a spot! So if u find any in the way just park and walk If you love art, history, or architecture, this place is a must-see. Take your time, enjoy the silence, and let the paintings tell their stories. ⸻ For more tips follow me on Google. I have a lot of maps and places to visit all around the world 🌎 all for free for my followers on Google Maps. @Amagi.zi

One of the best well organized museums I’ve visited. Almost in every room there is a sitting area, so the visitors can take a break from walking and standing, also allow ppl to take their time to enjoy the art. The map and marks are very clear to follow. The whole experience is easy, no rush and delightful, The collections of the impressionist arts are impressive. And it’s free entrance! Highly highly recommended.
Robbin S — Google review
The museum building is very handsome. A good section of this museum is free. The artwork and sculptures are amazing. Photo's allowed without flash. There were two staff to answer any questions.
Ewan B — Google review
A good surprised with great display. You can see the painting up close, see the brush stroke and smell the paint close. Great building and not crowded with traditional and impressionist arts. And it's free entry, it's a gem.
Allen P — Google review
I knew this placed housed one of my favorite artworks (sons of Clovis) but since it was free I really wasn’t expecting much. I spent hours in there. It’s designed perfectly and has a vast collection, particularly the impressionist room. I wasn’t expecting to see half a dozen amazing Monets. Also the security dude at the entrance really was so friendly and helpful and just put me in a good mood to go and enjoy some of the world’s best art, for free.

With over 600 animals and 5,000 plants, the park offers a rich experience for visitors. The indoor area features cozy enclosures and tropical greenhouses where visitors can observe a variety of animals living in well-maintained habitats. The outdoor section provides an even bigger range with some animals roaming freely.
Stunning place. Excellent value for money. The enclosures are great. We saw a lot of the animals. You can see some animals being fed. Would highly recommend.
Amandine O — Google review
Very nice place to visit in family. Suitable for very young children with a variety of animals.
Sarah C — Google review
Such an incredible zoo full of interesting animals I’d never seen before! One tip: - There’s a tiny French sign that tells you where to start, pointing down hill. This is because the exit is NOT where you entered but is right at the top of the hill. So definitely start by turning left and going downhill. The Australia section needs some work as the wallabies they have don’t live in dessert, rocky areas, they actually live in forested, grassy areas.
Jennifer M — Google review
Excellent experience. The big five are not on offer. However, there is an abundance of animals and creatures to look at. The enclosures are very well presented and there is an atmosphere of calm in the park. Walkways have been well thought out with wonderful foliage and rocks. The large tropical paradise is fabulous
Sara H — Google review
Such a wonderful zoo! So much more than we expected and it was even raining outside!

Fabulous day out, all the animals looked happy and well cared for. The only complaint I'd have was the restaurant was only staffed with 1 person.

Parc du Bocasse

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Family-friendly amusement park with thrilling rides, fairytale-themed attractions & food outlets.
Excellent park in the zone. A lot of attractions for all ages. The only problem I found is the lack of enough personnel in the restaurants. I had to wait for almost one hour to get two servings of sausages and fries. There is, however, a picnic area right outside in the parking lot
María Z — Google review
We had a super fun day with our children aged 5 and 8. The park was not busy, very neat, with decent public. Everywhere there is staff present, who are overall friendly and helpful. You can bring your own food and drinks or eat in the park's facilities.
Mike O — Google review
We had a fantastic day out with the kids at Parc du Bocasse. The wait for the rides was perfetly acceptable (except for the log flume that took 40+ minutes but staff were doing their very best to optimise every boat with numbers), the staff were lovely and we got to go on every ride, some of them twice or 3 times eventhough it was the weekend. Grwat variety for thrillseekers and young children (ours were 10,6 and 4)alike.
Eniko B — Google review
Great rides for kids of all ages , staff is polite and friendly. Does not have a lot of eating options and most locals just bought their picnics which is not allowed inside th park but there are covered picnic tables where food can be consumed outside of the park. Get a poncho as you can get wet on some of the rides. As a visitor from England my only complaint was not having enough food options inside the park, excellent otherwise.
Neeraj J — Google review
A Really fun Parc with some great rides. Would recommend for young families
Marko — Google review
Great park, a few bigger rides but nothing really thrilling. It's good for kids, everything is maintained well, rides are smooth and everything feels a lot cleaner and nicer. The tickets are reasonably priced. The Q's were probably about half an hour maximum which makes a change to theme parks in the UK. The park isn't huge but there's still enough there to stay all day. I enjoyed going here.
Hollie S — Google review
Very good place for both children and adults. Just go with no expectations and try every ride. No comparisons!!!
Hima B — Google review
We're a family of four with a five year old and a six year old. The Parc du Bocasse was perfect. Lots of rides that five year old and six year old children could enjoy and very little time spent in queues. The park looked very well maintained and didn't push merchandise and junk food the way many other parks do. Well worth a visit!

Château Gaillard is a 12th-century ruined hilltop castle that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the River Seine and the lush countryside. Built under Richard the Lionheart's command in just two years, it served as a crucial stronghold until its destruction in 1603. While only the ruins remain, visitors can explore the inner bailey, upper court, and dungeon with tickets. The chateau grounds are open year-round for exploration of the outer bailey.
A perfect ruin to explore on a sunny day. We hiked up the path & it felt great to stretch our legs. The views are very nice. All Richard the Lionheart fans must see this place while wondering...maybe, just maybe, I am standing where he has stood before. Isn't that an incredible thought?
Foster W — Google review
Pros: - Fantastic view! - interesting history. - very large with many spaces to walk and explore. - well maintained. Cons: - The toilet is in the parking lot so make sure you go before you head up. - the walk from the parking lot to the castle is at times quite steep and on uneven surfaces. So be cautious and wear appropriate Footwear for gravel and loose surfaces. - there are some areas where falling is a real hazard so those with young children may need to keep them close at hand.
Jonathan C — Google review
Very nice place to visit with you family but ready for little hikes because the parking and the visa little far but it’s was a fun walk, after I recommended to visit the city it’s a very old historic city

This huge fortress domintes the view from above bit look to the left to see the fairy tale little village below and the gorgeous river view. We did not walk down to the castle itself due to time constraints but do NOT miss the views from above; they are simply stunning.

Beautifully Preserved and a treat to explore over looking the Sine River. Don’t let the 15 minute walk up to the Castle scare you. 90% is on a paved road going up hill. At a slow pace maybe 10 minutes until the last 5 minutes on a gravel path. Well worth the walk to see the magnificent views.

That's nice to walk around and discover the history of this castle full of intrigue, love and murder. The innermost part was closed to the public today. Maybe under renovation, but the rest was open. Not much to see, but nice stop on the road and great views. Nice walks too if you're coming from Les Andelys or even from the first parking.

Reve de Bisons is a wonderful restaurant that offers a beautiful view of Canadian wildlife and indigenous themed decorations. The food is delicious and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delicious and unique dining experience!
Very nice place. Canadian wildlife and indigenous themed and lovely view. Highly recommend!

We went there to eat as it was the only place in walking distance from our accomodation. The place is huge, filled with kitchy native American motives and hunting trophies. I got the buffalo antricote which was quite difficult to chew. They served us very fast, actually it was too fast, I suppose they already had the food prepared and just warmed it a bit. I would not go there a 2nd time.

below expectations. tour was entirely in french, which no one mentioned beforehand. even the safety instructions were in french. I liked the wolf tour, the bison tour wasn’t great. The food was average.

Booked a meal for the last night of our holiday only to find out they had no chef to cook so were closed, they had our number so could have let us know, totally useless service. I would avoid this place at all costs unless you want to be disappointed

The FORGESHOTEL - Domaine de Forges is a charming estate located in a 27-acre park featuring a lake, a beach and lush nature. The hotel boasts various amenities such as a casino, restaurant, bar and health spa. Additionally, the property offers meeting rooms for business purposes. Guests can enjoy free WiFi access and private parking during their stay. The La Table de Forges restaurant serves European buffet-style cuisine that guests will surely love.
This hotel is excellent! It's well located with an amazing spa that has no restrictions on access time from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. Although it's a bit far from Paris, about 1 hour and 45 minutes by car, the spacious rooms and very comfortable beds make up for it. The hotel also has a bar and a fun animation timetable. The restaurant offers a fantastic buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a wide variety of options. My personal favorite was the dinner buffet, which had an array of delicious starters, main courses, and desserts. Additionally, there are plenty of activities for both adults and kids, including biking, tennis, ping pong, mini-golf, and hiking circuits right from the hotel.

Amazing hotel and services, stayed on the gourmet package while touring France on our way back to UK so this is what we needed. Everything was perfect, we were with our 5yrs old boy and we enjoyed all the activities which were amazing and included in the package swimming pool, table tennis, mini golf, tennis, playground. Both breakfast and dinners were delicious too. We will return again! Apologies if I missed out anything but it’s just so much to do at this hotel. Thank you again.
Martina H — Google review
Buffet ran out of selections too quickly. The hotel lacked clear signposting from the town/main road. You need to reserve a slot at the buffet early in the servings otherwise they shrug when you are surprised there's only the worst things left.

National Trust South Foreland Lighthouse

Historical landmark
South Foreland Lighthouse, located at the edge of the North Downs and part of the famous White Cliffs of Dover, offers guided tours and a tearoom within its 19th-century structure. The lighthouse, built in 1843, was the first to use an electric light and played a significant role in maritime history by warning boats of dangerous offshore banks. Visitors can embark on a marked route from the White Cliffs Visitor Centre to reach this historic Victorian landmark.
Absolutely fantastic! A fun and blustery walk from the car park to the lighthouse (with views of the white cliffs of Dover and France). Gorgeous on a sunny day. The lighthouse itself is also great (complete with a cute little tearoom). There are bathrooms and places to sit and relax at both the visitors centre and the lighthouse itself. Would definitely visit again and recommend.
Hannah S — Google review
This lighthouse is managed by National Trust and as always has a lovely set of volunteers who are very polite and friendly. The lighthouse tour is one I will recommend. They provide a very informative and absorbing story telling session. Views of the English channel and surrounding areas from the lighthouse are absolutely stunning. The site has a shop, tea rooms and toilet facilities. Parking for NT members is about a mile away, but the walk is beautiful.
Swaroop M — Google review
The lighthouse is a little underwhelming, but the walk there and back from Devon is gorgeous. Grateful thanks to the NT for acquiring and preserving this spectacular coast line. Good foot path and well signposted. Its about an hour of moderate walking each way.
Lindy A — Google review
We had a great tour of the lighthouse, the current lighthouse, built in the 1840s, was the first in the world to use an electric light and a key site for pioneering wireless communication, free for National Trust members. There is only 1 way two get there, and that is two walk, but there are 2 different car parks to choose though, that is the National Trust white cliffs car park or St Margaret's village, it was a lovely walk from the National Trust car park, and don't forget to visit the 2 other great National Trust sites on the way, Fan bay deep shelter and Wanstone Gun Battery.
Pete H — Google review
Great location for a Pitstone if you walked the trail. The lighthouse itself is interesting to visit plus grabbing some refreshments and chilling with the fantastic channel views on a sunny day is just perfect.
Sam A — Google review
While hiking the White Cliffs of Dover, we made a stop in to grab a quick cuppa tea and a snack. It’s a great little light house with an amazing view! We had the cream tea service. First time for me and it was delicious! It’s a nice half way point for a great hike and a nice little stop and visit. Go check it out and meet the tea room crew!
Jason S — Google review
This hidden gem on the south coast is absolutely magnificent and I cannot recommend it enough. I love the way that you have to hike about 50 minutes from the visitor centre to get there which gives you a real sense of adventure. The tickets for the tour are very reasonably priced and you get to see all the different levels and learn about the role they played in the day to day running of the lighthouse. As well as the day to day work to ensure the safety of shipping in the vicinity, there was also pioneering work done here in the development of radio and electricity. There are fascinating artefacts, stunning views out over the channel, mesmerising machinery and passionate National Trust staff that will make sure you have a really great time. There is a cafe, gift shop and toilets, picnic benches, deck chairs - everything you might need.

Nestled in the picturesque White Cliffs country, Parkdean Resorts St Margaret's Bay Holiday Park offers a relaxed getaway with comfortable hotel rooms and bungalows. The park boasts a shingle beach and stunning sea views, making it an ideal spot for leisurely walks. Visitors can enjoy the nearby Coastguard pub, known as Britain's closest to France, offering a sea-view terrace for savoring drinks while taking in the bay scenery.
Stayed at St Margaret’s bay for the third time and we love it. The caravan we stayed in was lovely and spacious. The entertainment was good fun and the kids love it. The pool and spa are a lovely addition. And it’s nice to see they’ve added the red bikes to the park. We will definitely be back for a fourth visit at some point.

Peter S — Google review
Got there and went to my "Bungalow" the website said it had its own parking, which it did not, that was one of the reason's why I booked it. The Staff said they have never had its own parking, so god only kows why the Parkdean website said it. They did say they would get the website updated. stayed in number 50. Where to start, Apart from the leccy Bathroom Radiator been on all the time, but very small. so towel drying was a joke the Rest of them was on 2 or 4 hour timers, the front room was only 2 hours max. So you would wake up and go into a cold room, I went in Nov 2025 so not the best time of year The bedroom ones only allowed upto 4 hours of heat, so again not great Now the timer had a bright blue light, which lite the bedroom up, so that was annoying. And as blue led's are one of the most dangerous colours to the human eyes, not the greatest. And the fact both bedroom ones made some strange ticking type sound, Been Autistic I use white noise to sleep, and this ticking sound was louder than that, so that did my head in and I had to turn the heating off. The Cooker was broken the light to say it had reached temp was missing, so hit and miss. Bathroom extractor fan never worked, the sink had something missing, its like a small trap that you can lift up and down to allow you to fill the sink up or epmty it, so if you dropped something into it, you would lose it. Also you could not sit down on the Toilet without having the toilet roll and holder been in the way. Net curtains over only the windows in the front living area, NOT THE DOOR so no Privacy, had to close curtains when going out, just so people could not look in No lights on the front of the bungalow area ( yes auto light on the side) but bright LED street lamp on the back where the bedrooms are so that also came in on a night time while trying to sleep. The hedge on the way out of the site, if you had the nerve to be turing right, you had to pull out into the road, just to see past the hedge to see if it was clear, does not look bad in the picture bit it was I have never had breakfast at one of these sites, so we gave it a go, Turned up at 9:04am, told nothing cooked as they had only opened at 9:00am, which is fair enough, but then had to wait 50 minutes to get the Breakfast. The Glass was vey old and covered in marks, like no salt in the dishwasher type marks The beans where luke warm but the rest of the meal was fine On the day we left, my Son forgot his house key for where he lives, and they called me and said they would post it back to me, and said they would put it in an envelope and it would get posted back to me, which i was thinking that was nice of them but Today 6 days later, still no letter with Key and after I called the site, The woman got a bit mardy, saying that the staff only work part time and they would have to do it in their own time and also post it in their own time back to me. Which is not what I was told on the day they called me Then we went in both pools the small one has steps/ladder that are loose and moved when you stepped on them, the main pool was not much better not fixed right at all Hot water was a joke too, only enough for half a sink full, then nothing for hours while it heated up again

What a fantastic relaxing stay !! Been using Parkdean Parks for many years in Cornwall when visiting family and this is the first time we’ve stayed in a different park. I can honestly say that it is the best we’ve stayed at and was exactly what we were hoping for. Love the pools, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The park is quiet and very clean, with friendly helpful staff. Our caravan was really clean and in a perfect position for us. We love the park so much, we’re thinking about buying a caravan or bungalow so we can make it a more regular place to be when not working

We stayed in October and loved the Park, a great location for exploring the coast around Dover. We upgraded to a Prestige Lodge which was very comfortable, with plenty of room for 3 people! We found the beds comfy, and it was nice having 2 bathrooms. The site was small and quiet which suited us. The facilities were good with a pool and sauna. Wish we'd stayed longer!

Was quite a good serene location. Peaceful. They created activities that will make kids enjoy their stay. E.g aquajet, Waterwalker. etc. Staff member were quite helpful. Location- You can board a ferry 1 hour to France for the day. 41, miles from sandy beach. Would need to drive to enjoy your stay here Did not use gym, but looks okay. Hot tub seem quite old. Seem like a very old park. Some features looks dated, but good

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception at Boulogne-sur-Mer is situated in the Pas-de-Calais region, France. It is housed in the historic castle of Aumont, dating back to the 13th century and classified as a Historical Monument. The basilica's construction began in the 19th century, replacing an earlier church that was destroyed during turbulent times. The cathedral boasts stunning Renaissance architecture and is surrounded by charming gardens.
Can't tell you how cool this place is. Gotta just go see it. Lots of wows all the way round. If you love history this is amazing. Even easy for the unsteady on feet. The crypt you need to pay to visit. But the church itself is free.

The crypt was interesting and very large. The combination ticket giving entry to it and 2 other museums is great value at 11 euros.

Stunning!! So peaceful and well maintained. Could do with the information desk/shop to be at the entrance instead of the exit! No toilet facilities I have seen neither which always helps. It is lovely to visit a church that is open to the public. Something that you rarely see in England unless it is a big city.

The Cathedral Notre-Dame is absolutely worth a visit. The church itself is grand and impressive, with a unique and restored dome that really sets it apart from other cathedrals I've seen. What truly stood out, though, were the crypts underneath—also recently restored and incredibly atmospheric. The scale and detail of the underground chambers are breathtaking and give a real sense of the history and depth of the place. A must-see if you're in the area!

The Crypte de la Basilique Notre-Dame in Boulogne-sur-Mer is a captivating historical site that offers a unique glimpse into the past. Originally built as a church and later transformed into a cathedral, this impressive structure stands tall at 100 meters, overlooking the city. While some may find the basilica's 19th-century architecture less appealing, it sits atop ancient Roman foundations, connecting visitors to centuries of history.
Absolutely beautiful museum! Great history and all the signs were in French, Dutch and English which makes it very accessible. Very sweet staff and also nice and cool especially for in the summer. Absolutely would recommend!

Nice place to visit, even with your children. I went there with my 10-year-old son who enjoyed discovering every corner of the crypt. This place is a real maze. It is quite dark but it contributes to the general feeling of mystery you get once inside. Some parts are really well preserved. They provide the visitors with useful and interesting information, but it is sometimes hard to decipher the texts written in different languages as several of the lamps are not working. But it is still worth the visit, especially as it is 6€ (if you have no special discount) and free for children (until the age of 18) If needed, there are toilets just outside the entrance (red door on the right side when coming in)

The crypt under the Basilica is a real historical gem. Very well preserved and maintained the crypt is filled with colourful murals and paintings. It is worth a visit.

Definitely must see please - I was surprised how good the crypt can be organized and maintained. It takes like 30-45 min to go thru but is worth any minute. Place has unprecedent atmosphere and kind of art of death. You will see wall art and catacombs painting all over, with all history descriptions you can feel the atmosphere of pre - Europe time.

La Coupole Centre D'histoire is a museum and 3D planetarium housed in a massive German underground bunker from World War II. It was used by the Nazis to develop V2 missile rockets. The site is located near Saint-Omer and features a seven-meter thick concrete dome built by the Germans to protect their munitions. Visitors can explore multimedia exhibits on WWII and the French occupation, as well as learn about the history of the bunker through audio tours or tablets.
Fascinating museum well worth a visit. Well laid out, very informative and covers several periods not just the V1/V2 era. Reasonable entrance price too €14 .
Mark L — Google review
The place is impressive, and worth visiting. Adding the planetarium is a must, especially if you are visiting woth kids. I missed more information about the site itself, the visit felt more like an overview of WWII. The website is also pretty outdated and hard to navigate. Tip: bring a jacket, it is very cold inside the tunnel!!!
Bernardo P — Google review
I didn’t know what to expect when visiting this museum — I went in completely blind, having done no prior research and only using ChatGPT to help plan my holiday itinerary. I was genuinely in awe when the huge concrete megastructure suddenly came into view as I drove into the car park. It was completely unexpected and an impressive sight to behold. The exhibits, supported by clear and informative supplementary information, made the visit both engaging and enjoyable. That said, a few areas felt a little empty, and additional displays could have further enriched what was otherwise a very well-presented museum. One highlight was the interactive tablet and headset experience, which elevated the visit and made the museum even more immersive. The on-site café was also a pleasant surprise, serving tasty food and drinks at very reasonable prices.
MilPoPo — Google review
Took my Band of Gamers tour group here on October 2, 2023. The site was absolutely amazing. In addition to the history of the V2 program, the site also presented information on the slave labour the Nazis used to work on this complex - very sobering. In 2019 my group visited the V3 site Mymoceques but we didn't have time to come here. I'm glad we took the time to see it this time. Highly recommend.
Rob B — Google review
If your near by and even have the remotest interest in history, or humanity, go. But bewarned it hits hard. Think about if taking small children is a good idea or not, there are some articles which will need to be explained, but then should be. Will never forget it.
Mike K — Google review
One of the best museums I've visited. As well as the sheer scale of the WW2 remains, it also tells you why, and how, and the human toll it took to build it. The audio-visio guides are superb and show you graphically how and why it was built. A superb museum, superb and friendly staff and a museum that leaves you astounded by the sheer scale. Superb.
Ian A — Google review
Its a beautiful and well preserved memory of the great and indeed insane ambitions of the Third Reich. Combine this visit with a visit to the Blockhaus or the V3 weapon and you'll see what optimism and a lot of money can do. Even though it's unfinished, you'll have a great impression of this site. The interactive tablets do a good job. Some expositions are sadly only in French and the lack of internet under earth invalidate on the fly translation apps. Pre-downloading translations helps. I'll still give it 5 stars. It will take you from 1914 well into the American space program, with a focus on WW2 in Northern France, the resistance and the eventual liberation.

Interesting. My expectation was it was going to be a museum on the history of Cassel and the surrounding area. However, it’s more of an art gallery of the local area, which if I had known it’s great, but not my cup of tea. Also great toilets!

Great the park. There are some great rides here. Mainly geared towards families with younger children (under 16), but you can not deny the presence of Ride To Happiness, which is clearly aimed at an older audience. Ride To Happiness is simply one of the best roller-coasters in the world, and it should be on everyone's bucket list.

I really wanted to give the park 5 stars but some things are odd. First of all, why isn’t there any signage anywhere? Second, why isn’t there any information about waiting times? We were there on a Wednesday middle of October and it was really calm, Zero to little waiting times, even at the top rollercoaster “ride to happiness”, which is awesome! Most of the attractions are definitely for smaller kids, there are basically only three thrill rides, “happiness, Anubis and Heidi”. Would I come back just for this three rides on a calm day? Definitely! Would I come back on a busy summer weekend? For sure not.

Loved this place and it really exceeded my expectations! We were staying in nearby de panne and it had a great transport link on the tram right into the theme park. Reasonably priced for the entry fee. We purchased the tickets the day before as this worked out cheaper than on the gate. This themepark has something for all the family and we were really lucky to not have long queues on the day we visited. Everyone loved Heidi and the Ride to Happiness. Lots of great food venues to choose from. Great theming throughout the park and decorated really well for Halloween. The parade was also fun and the whole day had a really fun, happy vibe! The plopsaland hotel looked lovely. Overall, a great day out and we would definitely return.

Clean and tidy but way too busy and a ridiculous access pass system for families with younger children ! Wouldn’t say this park is value for money! The one good thing at this park is the ride of happiness which is in the top 5 coasters I have done .

We had an absolutely fantastic day at Plopsaland! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The park was beautifully clean, well-organised, and not at all busy, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, everyone we spoke to was cheerful and helpful, creating such a positive atmosphere throughout the day. One of the biggest highlights for us was “The Ride to Happiness” what an incredible rollercoaster! It’s easily one of the best rides we’ve ever been on. Thrilling, smooth, and full of surprises, we couldn’t resist going on it multiple times thanks to the short queues! Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The mix of fun attractions, friendly staff, and minimal waiting times made it a truly perfect day out. Highly recommend Plopsaland to anyone visiting Belgium, we’ll definitely be back! 🎢✨

I’ve been to this amusement park a couple of times. Overall, it’s mainly focused on small kids. The only attraction that truly stands out for adults is ‘The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland’— absolutely amazing and worth the visit on its own. A few downsides: queues can get really long on sunny days. Food is available at many kiosks, but it’s very basic and extremely overpriced. Parking isn’t free either. Also, expect heavy traffic when arriving and leaving the park, especially during weekends or holidays.

De Panne - Koksijde is a beautiful and clean beach with a gradual slope, making it perfect for swimming, paddling, and various sports activities. The area offers a great ambiance with shops providing a variety of food options, including waffles, ice cream, and fries. Additionally, there are opportunities to rent bicycles and mini scooters for children. The beach features entertainment such as music groups and ensures safety with a full group of lifeguards on the shore.
It is a very Beautiful, clean beach. I would Highly recommend to visit with family. Great ambiance with the shops around of all kinds of food. Waffles, ice cream, fries, restaurants and so many shops to rent the bicycles and mini scooters for children. There were little music groups for the entertainment. There was a full group of safe guards on the shore. There was a big wheel near the beach and many other sports like kite surfing. It was a weekend and a good weather day but still it was not so over packed.

You will find out about nicer beach I guess . The pictures are amazing because the sunset is amazing. I don’t like the 70’s constructions without charm for tourists to rent but except that part a good spot to enjoy the seaside, the beach , a drink to eat and just rest 😜

Museums
The In Flanders Fields Museum, located in Ypres, Belgium, is housed within the town's Cloth Hall and is dedicated to studying the First World War. The museum aims to convey the futility of war through historical exhibits that depict the suffering and impact on both soldiers and civilians during wartime. Named after John McCrae's famous poem, the museum does not glorify war but rather serves as a poignant reminder of its horrors.
One of the most powerful museums I’ve ever visited. The In Flanders Fields Museum is more than just a museum — it’s an emotional and educational experience about World War I. Everything is well-organized, with interactive displays, videos, original objects, and personal stories that really make you feel connected to the past. The building itself, the Cloth Hall, is beautiful and full of history. I also recommend climbing the tower — the view over Ypres is amazing. A place that makes you think, feel, and truly understand the cost of war. A must-visit in Ypres.
Ruben Q — Google review
Definitely worth a visit. Some interactive information. A number of short video presentations, either in English of with subtitles. Displays of WWI uniforms, munitions etc. Cafe and toilets on ground floor. Option to visit the bell tower, quite a number of steps, but even on a dull rainy day worth the visit.
Paul P — Google review
was here on a bus tour from brussels, entrance was included in our tour. -When we arrived our guide gave us poppy wrist bands for entrance, they also activate things. -Typical museum, different displays of uniforms, weapons, artifacts, stories and maps. There is a small theater to hear real stories from nurses during the war -Souvenir and book shop at the end of the tour. -The museum is in the largest building in town, the old town hall, so you cant miss it. -There was also a small flea/garage sale going on right outside of it. People selling random things. There was one or 2 selling war artifacts, not sure it authentic.
Adam C — Google review
One of the main museums, if not the main museum one can visit when retracing the Western Front and the WW1 trail. Located within a splendid building in the centre of Ypres. The museum is immersive with key station points for your audio guide to be activated, a very clever poppy band that also activated key points throughout the museum. Lots of videos of reenactments, great displays and lots of key information that can even make one who may know a lot, to think further. Very accessible and decently priced.
Richard P — Google review
Great museum focusing on WW1 and the surrounding battles. Take advantage of the opportunity to climb to the top of the bell tower during your visit. Allow at least 2 hours for a comprehensive visit. There is also a small cafe and well stocked book shop. Parking is usually available in the public square outside.
Phoenixpooh — Google review
Excellent museum with lots of interactive displays and videos. A brilliant telling of the experiences of the solders and civilians in the Ypres salient during the First World War. Very powerful and moving. All contained in the fabulous building rebuilt after the war.
Tom S — Google review
I visited for two main reasons. First is that my Great Grandfather was a gunner with the RGA in the 3rd Battle of Ypres and not only was it a miracle that he survived but also the diary he kept of his experiences, which is a moving read. After transcribing this a few years ago, I have been researching the contents and the day I visited the museum was part of that and found it so interesting and informative. The layout is quite modern and I liked the use of videos with actors recreating the experiences, especially the medical staff. The other reason I was visiting is that my Great Uncle Charles was killed in 1915 and as he has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the nearby Menin Gate. The impact of his death, and that of his brother who was killed in action only a few weeks later, is still remembered by our family and I was also trying to find out more about his death. For both of these family members, I did manage to find out really useful additional information. Even if you are not like me and researching a specific family member, this is definitely worth visiting and is suitable for younger children with adult supervision. Our teen children found it interesting and we need to ensure the younger generation are aware of the events of 1914-18. There is an entry fee and you can pay extra for an audio tour and visit to the tower. We didn't do the latter two due to time restraints (we managed to get in for last entry time as we had had a busy day of visiting other sites which had to fit in 1 day) We hadn't pre-booked but no issues with that.

Check events going on in Square before booking! We booked the three bedroom apartment for Friday and Saturday on the basis it was nice and close to everything for our family of 4 kids and 2 adult. The apartment had plenty of room for our family although the beds weren't large but there was a concert on in the market square on the Saturday night that was very loud and continued until almost midnight. Our children were older and did manage to get some sleep, but if you had smaller, noise sensitive children or adults, you would have been quite annoyed. There is a toilet downstairs as well as upstairs, and the stairs are metal and unforgiving, but there is a lift that you need to have a key on to use. If you enter it without the key and the doors shut, you can't get out- as one of our children discovered!

Menin Gate is a significant British war memorial located in Ypres, Belgium. It bears the names of 54,896 soldiers from the British and Commonwealth forces who went missing during World War I. The gate serves as a poignant reminder of the immense human sacrifice of war. Every day, visitors can witness the moving Last Post ceremony at this iconic site.
The daily remembrance service is staffed by various armed forces, affiliates, clubs, groups, and personnel each evening at 8pm. A very moving and touching service happens rain or shine and is there to remember all those lost in conflict. Lest we forget. The names of the fallen are engraved on tablets that adorn the walls of the gate itself. There is a very beautiful garden with flowers and trees just up and adjacent to the gate that is well worth a visit too.

A sombre place - 'a First World War memorial in Ypres, Belgium, dedicated to the missing British and Commonwealth soldiers who have no known grave in the Ypres Salient, with their names engraved on the walls of the memorial.' - I felt choked up approaching this place remembering my relatives that served here including my grandfather wounded at Passchendaele. We also saw groups of school kids, including some Indian students, and their teacher and a male and female student carried a wreath to lay remembering Indians who served as part of the British Empire.
Ultimobile — Google review
I was here twice in one day, on a bus tour from brussels. Once around lunch, and then once at 7pm to stay for the 8pm last post ceremony. -Its a large "Gate" building, the functions as a road as well except at 8pm, when police close the road for the last post ceremony. The sidewalk is also roped off, you cannot cross this gate into or out of city between 7:50pm-8:20pm, by foot or car. -You can walk up the steps in the middle to the upper parts on either side, its more walls of names. -You can participate in the last post Ceremony if you have a poppy wreath similar to theirs. You can bring from home, or Buy a wreath at the "Info shop" across the road from the gate, inside the city. The man running the ceremony said they never turn away someone that wants to participate. -The last post ceremony gets busy, we arrived 1 hour before to be sure we got front row, and we did, but it does get busy. The ceremony itself is about 10min long, with a short trumpet call, then a short speech, then people walk up and put wreaths, and then trumpets again, and its over. The guide said sometimes there is more people putting wreaths, sometimes there is more speeches, sometimes more music performances, so it could take longer sometimes. Overall it was a nice memorial to the fallen soldiers

Have visited a few times before. Last time (2024) it was closed for restoration, all done now and looking great. There’s an office on site where they will help you locate the name of a lost family member. (Don’t try to read all the names or you’ll never find the one you want). If your schedule allows, stay for the Last Post ceremony, done every day. Right in the town centre of Ypres, a beautiful place to visit.
Bonnie E — Google review
Must visit if you are in the area. Visited 2 evenings in a row for the last post ceremony. Very emotional and a sombre occasion. Called into the CWGC shop across the road too
William W — Google review
This is a must visit site in Ypres, especially at 8pm every day when the last post is played. It is remarkable that this service happens every day of the year more than 100 years after WW1, but then it remains as poignant and relevant today as ever (sadly). We attended on two consecutive nights, one night with the Honourable Artillery Company Regimental Band playing (incredible) the next with a female choral choir. Both were very moving. I estimated about 500 people attended both nights. The four or five horn players of the last post were clearly very experienced. The gate itself is a mini-museum, and it is very impactful to see the thousands of names of lost soldiers from so many countries. Really, everyone should visit this site.
Chris B — Google review
The gate is a large memorial to the British Empire and Dominions troops that were killed in the Great War. It was built in the 1920s and has the names of 54,000 allied servicemen who lost their lives but have no known grave, inscribed on panels inside the building. It is sited on the road that the troops used to march along to reach the nearby Ypres salient, scene of fighting for pretty much the entire war. It is also where the famous Last Post ceremony takes place. We read the CWGC information boards and saw the information on the hill next to the gate and then we walked through the galleries with the names of the fallen before joining the crowds to listen to the ceremony. I was surprised at how busy it was and the ceremony itself lasted about 15 minutes but the colonnade was full 45 minutes before it started. It was a lovely ceremony with the Last Post and then two songs sung by St Anthony's Catholic Girl School from Market Weighton.

A must see experience. Lots of emotions. Make up your own mind as to a celebration of war or a monument against it! A waste of human life for a just cause or maybe a monument against war. A lesson from history about the waste of war and its leaders who send men to there death! Looking at the world at the moment, have we learned? But to those who lost their lives a very moving monument.

The Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, located in the historic castle grounds of Zonnebeke, offers a poignant and vivid portrayal of the historical narrative of World War I, with special emphasis on the Battle of Passchendaele. This battle in 1917 is renowned as one of the most harrowing conflicts of the war, resulting in nearly 600,000 casualties for a mere eight-kilometer territorial shift.
I have visited a number of museums and this is the best. It immerses you in the whole WW1 experience. Whether its the bunker underground or the 360% experience of what it was like, to the trench system, you can get an appreciation of what it must have been like for these soldiers. Highly recommend
Tomas N — Google review
Well worth the visit, especially, in my opinion, those with kids as they will absolutely love the immersive (recreated) dug out and trenches. An impressive making and simulation of what a trench would look or feel like. The museum is packed with information, mostly relating to the battle of Passchendale itself but also to the wider western front. The Audi guides are a great tool to have to guide you throughout and the museum itself sits in a wider memorial park area which is just beautiful. There is more parking a little further up the road if the main car park is full. Plenty of spaces to have a picnic in the surrounding parks. The museum itself probably hosts the friendliest and helpful staff you could ever encounter.
Richard P — Google review
What a wonderful museum dedicated to the soldiers of WW1. The audio guide has all the information about each room and bunkers you visit. For me the most moving insight was the interactive cinema which gave an insight into the hard, difficult conditions the soldier's fought in. The underground tunnels and trenches were also an interesting eye opener into the fighting in WW1. Allow at least a couple of hours to really appreciate the whole museum
Terry M — Google review
An essential visit for anyone interested in not only the military side of the 1917 battle but also the impact on the civilians. For me, this was a deeply personal and emotional visit as my Great Grandfather served the 1917 Battle and kept a diary of his experiences of being a British Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery. Amazingly the diary survived and therefore I visited as part of my research into his experiences and thanks to this museum I learned so much more. The trenches experience was really interesting and there is an excellent audio guide that takes you through the whole museum. We didn't buy tickets in advance but had no wait to enter. There is a shop and cafe nearby.

What a beautiful museum,ao much history of what happened at Passendale. You get to experience the underground living of the troops and has a wide selection of artifacts from the war. Some things putting things into perspective. You can also just spend time in their park which is also clean and scenic...just avoid the tour groups of children...most of them still have alot of energy from the long bus rides 😅

Tyne Cot Cemetery & Visitors Centre is a significant World War I cemetery located on the Battle of Passchendaele site, housing around 11,900 graves of Commonwealth soldiers. The cemetery is known for being the world's largest British Commonwealth war cemetery and features a huge semicircular wall commemorating 34,857 soldiers lost in action.
Most beautifully maintained & best cared-for war cemetery I’ve seen anywhere in the world. This is really the gold standard. Hats off to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, funded by the UK & 6 Commonwealth countries, for so thoughtfully maintaining this. Lovely to see student groups & remembrance continuing.
Monica M — Google review
The scale of this cemetery is staggering - it isn't just the number of graves but how many are unknown soldiers. I visited for several reasons. First is that my Great Grandfather fought in the 3rd Battle of Ypres and not only did he miraculously survived but so did the diary he kept of his experiences. I know that some of his comrades died and possibly buried here/named on the memorial wall so I wanted to pay my respects. There is also a memorial to the Sherwood Foresters, which several of my family members were part of so wanted to view this too. Finally my Great Uncle Charles, who was a Sherwood Forester, was killed in action locally but has no known grave. My research points to this being one of the two possible last resting places for him. It would take hours to view each grave, and we had limited time here, but I did spot a grave of an unknown Sherwood Forester and I would like to think that perhaps this is Charles and he guided me here. As with all Commonwealth War Cemeteries, this is beautifully maintained and is a fitting memorial to all those laid to rest here. There is a visitors centre along with free parking. Take tissues as you will have tears in your eyes. Free to visit.
Elizabeth B — Google review
This is the largest British Commonwealth military cemetery in the world with 12,000 marked graves and a further 35,000 names on the memorial plaques, where the bodies of the missing could not be found. Tyne Cot is the name of the German blockhouse, painted to look like a cottage, that was part of a defensive line responsible for so many deaths. It is now the base of the Remembrance Cross. The graves are very well tended by the CWGC and there were lots of visitors including two coach trips of schoolkids. We probably spent an hour in the Visitors Centre and Cemetery and also looking at the terrain that was being fought across and it was a very sobering experience. Luckily, as we left, there was a spaniel that was the happiest dog in the world so that injected some much needed positivity into the morning.
Marcus H — Google review
Tyne Cot Cemetary is the largest resting place for British and Commonwealth troops who lost their lives in WW1, especially those who fought in Passchendaele, the 3rd battle of Ypres. Its name derives from the Northumberland Fusiliers who thought the many German pill boxes looked like Tyneside workman cottages and was abbreviated to Tyne cots. My visit on 17th September 2025 was particularly poignant for me as it was on the occasion of my late father's birthday who was born in 1918 and his father, my grand-père Charles Villaret, was with the French First Army that supported the British offensive in 1917 at Passchendaele - he looked after the horses and obviously survived whereas many of his comrades and horses didn't. The cemetery, like others in Belgium, is taken great care of by the War Graves Commission and it's a special place to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by British and AZTEC troops. However, it's alot to take in and probably requires more than one visit. It was busy when I went with a number of guided tours taking place.
Mimi V — Google review
A remarkable cemetery of those who sacrificed their lives. Beautifully maintained by the CWWGC. Have visited several times over the years. The calling of names of those who lost their lives on the route to the very small exhibition is quite profound. The exhibition has changed over the years but worth a look. Good parking. Toilets are 0.50€.

What a place. So peaceful, very well kept. You can't believe when looking out that it was the location of such devastation and loss.
Stuart B — Google review
First visit to Tyne Cot. Slightly confusing how to get in from the Visitors Centre. We did walk to this first and the display and information boards were very good. However there were no signs to say how to get into the cemetery from the Visitors Centre. The front entrance is directly opposite the car park. It’s a small gate which leads out onto the main portico of the cemetery. Note the cemetery shuts at 6pm. Once inside the sight of so many graves and names on the walls is over bearing. The enormous loss of life is so disturbing. In what was a war where life was given over for military tactic. In a place we’re not much land was taken and in some places 95 lives lost per 3 acre leaves you to question why? So much destruction in a few short years and all for land and power. The Commonwealth war graves keep the cemetery in excellent condition and the constant roll of names over the tannoy is keeping the memory of those fallen alive. Somewhere everyone should visit.

Must visit with children who are interested in learning history. We were hoping to finish visiting this place in couple of hours. But once we were there realised how much there is to see and learn. Beautifully managed historical place. As we started our tour the person who gave us our map was fantastic at explaining how to go about the place. We ended up spending a whole day at this site.

An incredible, well-preserved piece of history and a truly memorable experience. The tour lasts over three hours, walking through bunkers, tunnels, and open-air remains while learning about World War history. It’s fascinating to stand inside structures built so many decades ago — even before our great-great-great-grandparents were born! At the start, they give you an audio guide device that vibrates and pops up information whenever you reach a landmark;I loved that feature. The site is very well-organized, and everything is clearly explained. It’s also amazing to stand by the sea during the tour and imagine what it must have been like back then. I definitely recommend packing some snacks and lots of water or drinks, because it’s a long walk and you’ll be tired by the end. Wear comfortable shoes (open or closed), as there’s quite a bit of walking involved. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Belgian coast and interested in history.

Came here in Oostende for holidays, and I was met with this amazing WW1/WW2 Museum. I decided to visit it with my friends and family since I love to learn everything related to WW1 and WW2, and I was not disappointed. The entry is relatively cheap for so much you can explore. We got told that a visit would take 2 hours, but we ended up exploring it for about 3 hours! You’re given a map with a route that follows a certain route. It leads you to explore the WW1 route first and then the WW2 route. You’re also given a device (a sort of phone) which is probably the most useful thing i’ve seen in a museum so far. It offers various things: - Audios: In the WW2 route, there are numbers marked on some doors where you can listen to information about that certain part -Location based information: It has some sort of tracker where, when you pass a certain area, it pops up images, maps, small videos and more information about that certain area. Furthermore, the organisation, preservation and info boards are very good. It makes reading, as well as learning, much more enjoyable. There are some areas in bunkers/underground routes, where you’re met with realistic war sounds, such as airplanes flying, bombs exploding and gunshots that give you that eerie experience of what soldiers had to endure day by day. Finally, there are some TVs with small videos that explain certain events (How people survived during bombings, how the germans used their fortifications to defend the coast, how they used math to calculate the distance of the enemy’s ship, etc..) Overall, it was a pleasant experience. As someone who loves everything about WW1/WW2, this museum is absolutely amazing and well explained. Totally recommend to take a moment to visit it and learn what the Belgian coast had to endure, as well as what happened in WW1/WW2 in general. Fantastic, will come here one day with more friends and family again!

Fantastic open air museum about the German fortifications along the Atlantic coast in Word Wars I and II. The exihibition is extremely well done, with replicas and original pieces that not only show the military aspects of the fortifications but also the everyday life of both soldiers and local citizens. We went with two kids (7 and 10) and despite the gloomy topics, the exhibition is also suited for kids, with a map and a quiz for kids to explore the area. Highly recommended!

La Piscine - Musée d'art et d'industrie André Diligent de Roubaix is a remarkable museum located in a former art deco swimming pool. The venue, which opened in 2000, offers a spectacular setting with its main exhibition hall housed within the pool chamber and galleries adorned with tiled walls and stained glass windows. Adjacent to the swimming pool, there is additional exhibition space provided by a former textile factory.
An incredible place! The iconic early 20th-century architecture, along with a wonderful collection of modern and contemporary art, makes it truly special. There’s also a lovely restaurant. We discovered this museum by chance while passing through, and it turned out to be such a pleasant and unexpected find. I was so impressed and inspired by this museum that I would gladly come back here again on purpose.

Surprisingly this is one of the best museums I have ever visited. An exceptionally curated collection of art that keeps you seriously engaged during your visit. The set up to repurpose the public swimming pool, the architecture and inner gardens bring the whole experience to another level. A Must visit when in Lille.

If fashion, art, architecture, and striking industrial-era tales of France’s northern reaches sound like your thing, La Piscine is worth the visit. A lot of the installation offer both French and English descriptions. The staff here are super friendly. And if you’re carrying a bag, don’t forget to check it in before you go buy tickets! (Not a problem if you do, it’s just a minor inconvenience)

Wonderful place , not to miss , hop on metro from Lille to Roubaix ,few (12 )stops ride to be here . Easy 5-7 min walk from Roubaix station, well marked directions do was easy to find. Impressive museum where 1927 pool is converted into museum. It is really spectacular for its art collection of sculptures, paintings but also the nostalgic building of swimming pool with old structure being retained. It has a nice cafe too. Must visit if you are in Lille .

What a great idea to retain the original features of the swimming pool in this gallery. It is beautiful and unusual. The sound is relaxing and adds to the experience. I enjoyed the collection of contemporary ceramics, and learned more about the Roubaix artists. If I lived nearby I would come here often!

Amazing museum mainly due to the space itself.... and old swimming pool. All history about it is available at the entrance of the museum. Nice restaurant inside. You can learn about the local textile industry. Some of the art pieces are great.

What an amazing place, both the beauty of the buildings and vast array of exhibits. Well worth the ten minute train ride from Lille.

This was one interesting and unique museum experience that I had and I have never had anything like it before the museum is inside a pool complex and the art pieces were very nice to look at some of the rooms where some art were displayed were a little bit tight, but otherwise the overall experience was nice and The building itself is very unique

(Translated by Google) Perfect means of getting around on the Belgian North Sea... as you can explore the entire Belgian coast without a car, without traffic jams and without having to look for a parking space and park costs. That doesn't exist anywhere Yes, it's often full in the summer, but since we go to the coast all year round, it's no problem at all 👍 In summer months 10 minute departure cycles... you don't have to worry about missing one... Catastrophe!!! Trams are overcrowded and the frequency is too low. Very often you can't get on the tram at all!!! The vehicles themselves are uncomfortable and there is little space in them. I don't understand why, when replacing the tram fleet, it was not decided to use longer vehicles, since the tram stops can handle trams that are several meters longer. This is an unacceptable situation for me.

Stop promoting this as a tourist transportation! It's a regular tram, very crowded and uncomfortable. Yes, it takes you from one place to another, but don't hope for nice view or something interesting to see.

Sights & Landmarks
The Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, located in Ostend, is a magnificent Gothic-style church with twin spires and intricate stained-glass windows. Despite being consecrated in 1908, the church gives off an ancient vibe with its neo-Gothic interior. It replaced the original Church of St Peter after it was destroyed by fire in 1896.
This church is magnificent and I’ve been fortunate enough to catch the organ recitals when I was visiting, added to the grandeur of the cathedral. The multiple stained glass windows that cast colored light through out are impressive.

Sint-Petrus-en-Pauluskerk is one of the most striking and admired monuments in Ostend. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Rotary Club Oostende Ter Streep, he commissioned a bronze model of the church. The project was called "Voelkerk" because it gives the visually impaired the opportunity to create an image of a neo-Gothic church. The model was placed on a pedestal in front of the church. On the front is a Braille inscription with a description of the church and a poem by the Ostendian poet Astrid Dewancker. The project was realized in cooperation with the city of Ostend and thanks to the contribution of many generous sponsors. It has become an astonishing exhibit, extraordinary craftsmanship and an absolute attraction for the "Oostende Cultural City of Flanders 2010". Sint-Petrus-en-Pauluskerk (Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul), the main church of Ostend, Belgium, is a Roman Catholic Neo-Gothic church. It is built on the ashes of a previous church that occupied the site. King Leopold II enthusiastically supported a plan to build a new and more magnificent church. Construction started in 1899 and was completed and consecrated by Bishop Waffelaert on August 31, 1908. Its stained glass windows were destroyed during the two Warld Wars and were replaced by windows by Michiel Martens. The church is 70 meters long and 30 meters wide. Its spires are 72 meters high.

A very pretty neogothic church, which looks so quaint and lightweight. Inspired by the Cologne cathedral and neogothic Votivkirche in Vienna, this one definitely has some character of its own. The lovely stained glass windows (modern, by a local Michel Martens) add so much color and brightness.
