Dornbusch lighthouse

Lighthouses
Perched on a cliff overlooking the Baltic Sea, Dornbusch Lighthouse is a historic landmark that was established in 1888. Located on Hiddensee island, this old-fashioned lighthouse serves as an important navigational aid for coastal ships. The name "Dornbusch" originates from the thorn bushes surrounding its location. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walking trail leading to the well-maintained lighthouse and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty.
Beautiful place! This lighthouse is placed in the beautiful national park. You can enter the view point on the lighthouse (3 EUR for adult) and relax looking on amazing view. Recommend to visit the whole area and the view point.
Ewelina B — Google review
Beautiful view and sight. Unfortunately the lighthouse was closed when we arrived there… take care of the new opening hours which are now updated. We rid the bike to get there. It was a big hill with concrete road but it’s been tough with the rental bikes. Anyway it is recommended to check out the lighthouse - of course you can walk there as well.
Lucas D — Google review
The lighthouse! This is the symbol! and stands symbolically for the island Hiddensee. From here you will have a 360 degree view. Southern is the island Hiddensee itself with the four villages Grieben, Kloster, Vitte and Neuendorf. Northern/western the baltic sea, at good weather consists you may see the Swedish coast. Direction eastern you will see Rügen. This is definitely a place to be, even you’ll be there for only one day.
Michael S — Google review
It’s early July when we visit so it’s advisable to bring hat/cap, sun block if you visit in summer time. *Cruise Ride: park and take the Bahn that will drop you at the cruise centre, it’s easier and the place tends to be busy. Upon arrival, enjoy the walking trial before we arrive at the Leuchtturm which was well maintained, we didn’t pay to climb the light house but it was already good able to see it from outside... we even met a couple with 2 kids that sailed (and live on board) from Netherlands! how cool is that 😎 We also stopped for coffee & souvenir shopping near the cruise centre before taking the return cruise.
Jamie S — Google review
The light house is currently fixing. But it is a nice place to see the view
Song Y — Google review
Beautiful view point with ligthouse. Worth going up as the view is stunning
Maja — Google review
I brought my bike over on the ferry and my wife rented one near the drop-off point before we rode north to see the lighthouse and continuing on to see the rest of the island. It was easy to get to the top and the views from up there were amazing. Don't miss it!!!
Stan S — Google review
The stairs up here were very steep at the top, and there were certainly enough people even in July already. While I didn't exactly linger, the view is easily worth 3 euros even with a fear of heights.

Outdoor Activities
Binzer Strand is a popular family beach located in Ostseebad Binz, offering a five-kilometer stretch of coastline for swimming and bathing. The area provides excellent conditions for leisurely splashing and relaxation. Visitors can also enjoy summer concerts at the beach. Despite being busy in the shopping streets, the beautiful beach and bridge offer stunning views. Additionally, Binz boasts seafront restaurants, picturesque landscapes, and shopping opportunities.
The beach is very clean. Amazing view. Lots of seagulls!
Onur — Google review
Great walk along the promenade with lots of places to eat and drink available. The beach itself is excellent with the usual chairs available to rent. Definitely worth a visit.
Richard C — Google review
"A perfect day at Binz beach!" I absolutely loved my time at the beach in Binz! The sand is soft and clean, the water crystal clear, and the atmosphere simply relaxing. The long promenade is ideal for a walk or bike ride, with plenty of cozy cafés and restaurants to stop by. What impressed me most was how well-kept everything is – from the beach chairs to the facilities, you can tell they really care about visitors here. Whether you just want to swim, sunbathe, or enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea, Binz is the perfect place. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful beach experience in Germany. I’ll definitely come back! 🌊☀️🌴
Svetlana R — Google review
Beautiful long stretch of sandy beach. It was not very crowded on public holidays. There was enough space for everyone. Kids had fun playing with sand and collecting sea shells and building castles. There were a lot of sea gulls flying around, some of them can be seen snatching food from humans..:D
AmazingTrails — Google review
Great atmosphere, lively beach. Shallow for many meters which is fantastic. Unfortunately we couldn't spend more time as we had planned the more disappointing Glowe more 😔. We were just passing by and couldn't get into water with our swim gear. Next time we shall be prepared!
Chandan S — Google review
Amazing place to visit. All this island is beautiful but Binz has it all: sea, restaurants, landscapes and shopping. Take some bread to the beach and you will be able to interact with the birds, look at my experience in the photos. We had a great day, no matter the weather, the place is great. I very much recommend.
Daniel W — Google review
This attraction bustling with tourists in summer, was calm and serene with hardly any soul around this winter. It was absolutely beautiful to see the beach sand covered with white snow. The entire stretch of beach has resorts facing the ocean. Taking a walk on Seebrücke Binz is a must! :)

Granitz Hunting Castle

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Granitz Hunting Castle, located in the resort town of Binz, Rugen, is a 19th-century museum with five crenellated towers and grand rooms. The castle offers a luxurious setting for hunting enthusiasts with its incredible collection of animal skulls, antlers, and stuffed stag. It also features a 144m-high viewing platform and a cast-iron spiral staircase with 154 steps.
Unfortunately, the day was foggy, and we couldn’t see anything from the tower. However, everything else was great, and of course, it’s not their fault for the weather. I’d recommend others to visit on a sunny day to get the full experience. We drove up by car, but the route is also beautiful for hiking.
Magdalena S — Google review
This was super cool. Enjoyed climbing the tower which wasn’t as tiring as I thought it would be. A lot to look at and take in. I enjoyed the hike up from the parking lot (about 2km).
Ava F — Google review
Nice Castle, well kept, very friendly and accommodating staff. Not a lot to see but what is there is set up and explained very well and entry fee is very reasonable. The highlight is the metal staircase leading to the view point above, think it’s 154 spiralling see through steps, maybe not for those with fear of heights.
Paul F — Google review
The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the stunning spiral staircase that winds its way up the tower. The panoramic views from the top were breathtaking and made every step worth it. The peaceful surroundings and scenic walks around the grounds added to the charm of the visit. Overall, the Granitz Hunting Lodge is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Rügen Island.
Emiliano L — Google review
interesting place! if you choose to park at the hiking trail parking you get a nice short hike of 25-30 minutes through the farmhouse and deciduous forest up to the hunting lodge,
Jonas A — Google review
It takes a little hike to get the lodge, but it's really worth it. During the hike through the beautiful woods, you come across animals and a steam train. The castle is beautiful, and the inside is very well preserved. With big chandeliers, hunting trophies, and paintings of the royals who lived there. You can also get to the top of the tower by walking an iron staircase. Once you reach the top, you're welcomed by a beautiful view. The only thing I missed was information in English, so bring your German friend or Google translate.
Laurien S — Google review
I love this castle. Great interactive explanations for children. A lot of interactive features, for example the animation of the travel journal that makes you feel like you’re traveling to Egypt as well. The architecture is exquisite but sadly the hunting trophies 🏆 were stolen.
Vivian C — Google review
Great experience - wish we'd ridden bikes up instead of walking though. Beautiful views, interesting history, great collection in the museum.

(Translated by Google) I had an intensive beginners course in windsurfing over 2 days (9 hours) in July and am very satisfied. The teacher Jo was very friendly, patient and motivating. Equipment and wetsuits are provided. Swimming or surfing shoes are recommended as there is less slipping on the board. But it also works without it. After completing the course you should get the basic certificate. This is a little cross test. It costs €50 extra, so you can later rent equipment from surf schools and clubs. After the course you should definitely be able to stand on the board, ride a course, steer and turn. Afterwards, you should give yourself practice time to consolidate what you have learned. So I can definitely recommend the course. Thanks again to the Lala Surfbar team and especially to Jo. And maybe see you next year.

(Translated by Google) We took a surfing course during the holidays (1 adult and 2 children) and it was really great: it was more theory than we thought, but firstly it made sense for all the time on the water and it was easy for us to get through took the test for the surfing license. The material was absolutely fine and there were enough sizes to choose from. But not with the waves: some of them were too big: 1 star deducted! However, an extra star for the atmosphere. We will repeat this when we get the chance. Special praise to the two surf instructors E. and H.: Keep it up!

Gorch Fock I is a restored and seaworthy rigged sailing ship that serves as a floating museum and events venue. Launched in 1933, it has a rich history as a sail training ship for German naval forces and later used by the Soviet Navy until 1990. Now permanently anchored in Stralsund's harbor, visitors can board the impressive old vessel to explore its storied past.
I visited quite early in the day before going for a walk along the waterfront. 4 euro entry fee per person was very much worth it. The staff were friendly and informative. The information was interesting and clear and easy to read. My travel buddy Yoshi enjoyed looking around ;)
Hollee G — Google review
The three-masted Gorch Fock I is an impressive sight, and standing on its deck felt like stepping into another era. The nearby harbor promenade and the view of the sea strait made the experience even more special. Stralsund’s waterfront is peaceful yet lively – the scent of the sea and the charm of the old harbor buildings made the visit truly unforgettable.
Tamás F — Google review
Historically interesting. Some interesting exhibits but not many. It’s more about the vessel itself.
Zygmunt K — Google review
Worth a visit if you are in Stralsund. Interesting to see the original boat with original equipment from the second world war. 5€ per adult. Can be seen in 15 minutes (not very big). Not suitable for people with physical disabilities. Woman at the register was pretty unpolite. We asked if it's a tour or if we can walk around freely and she replied "well you know how to read right?"
Cris — Google review
Really interesting attraction! A must-see in Stralsund. Unfortunately several parts of the ship are under renovation so we didn’t get to visit them... but other than that it was worthwhile.

OZEANEUM Stralsund GmbH is a modern marine museum located in Stralsund, focusing on the Baltic and North Seas. It was voted European Museum of the Year in 2010 and attracts over half a million visitors annually. The interactive exhibition offers educational experiences suitable for children, featuring display boards, models, and live fish in various aquariums. The aquarium also provides scenic views of the Old Town and St. Nicholas Church from its location on the harbor.
Went there around 80 minutes before closing, and I had just enough time to go through everything in the museum. I paid 14 euros for my ticket, and what I got for that price was justified. Would recommend!
Axel N — Google review
I recommend it, very modern, well structured and easy to visit. If you want to see it in detail, it is ideal to allocate about 2-3 hours. The adult ticket costs 18 euros, for those aged between 17-24 a discount of 4 euros is applied. It is also beautiful outside.
A. A — Google review
Very nice place for both kids and adults. Very well organized with a wide variety of different exhibitions. It takes 2-3 hours to see the whole place.
Pawel B — Google review
The oceanarium is an incredibly educational place. The whole family was delighted with it. You can admire live animal specimens there, as well as learn interesting facts about the Baltic Sea. The entrance fee is not low, but it's worth it.
Iva — Google review
Very interesting place with amazing aquariums and well preserved specimens. Here you can learn many interesting facts about animals and nature. Great place for kids.
Olga D — Google review
It's a BIG museum with lots to learn about the earth and its oceans. The audio guide is very thorough with an option to read instead of listen and audodescription for the visually impaired. And the fishes are obviously beautiful.
Laurien S — Google review
It’s a nice aquarium. On a rainy day in the summer it’s of course pretty crowded and also not great regarding air ventilation ;-) It took us two hours, but we didn’t read through everything.

For a modern oceanarium I would expect more larger aquariums and less boring exhibitions. No interactive elements. A bit disappointing.

It was a great experience! Amazing artwork, very interesting displays and modern design perfectly executed with timeless knowledge. I wish more people would come here and learn how important the oceans are to humans and share this passion with others. Highly recommended

One of the best museums I’ve been to. It is modern, and the design of the whole exhibition and museum is very interactive and inclusive.

The entire museum is in an old church. This probably the best use of a church that I have ever seen. There are a large amount of exhibits and just when you think it's over they have an impressive exibit of aquariums in the basement. I suggest this highly the price is extremely reasonable for the amount of things to see.

Located on the seaside, the Ozeaneum is a modern, spacious museum building. It displays all things related to fish, whales, fishery, and ocean research, and also has some nice live fish swimming around in huge aquariums. The whale-room is the coolest. Historical Technical Museum, Peenemünde

Mentioned on
6 lists
History museum
Museum
The Historical Technical Museum, Peenemünde, is a fascinating destination that pays tribute to the laborers who constructed test rockets during World War II. Housed in a former power station, this museum delves into the rich history of the Peenemünde Army Experimental Station and its pivotal role in early space exploration. Visitors can explore where the first rocket was launched into space back in 1942, highlighting one of the most remarkable yet perilous technological advancements of the 20th century.
A WWII museum where rockets were produced in Germany. A very interesting place that serves as a reminder of history and offers a good overview of how things worked back then. While the history is a bit sad, the museum itself is well done and definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend paying the extra 1 euro for a ticket to the rooftop via the elevator, where you'll get amazing views of the sea! I was hesitant at first, but I highly recommend it!
Michael M — Google review
This is an exquisite museum! I was really surprised that the authors of the exposition show the history of this place and the history of this deadly rocket in such a comprehensive way. I recommend taking the audio guide (available in different languages, including Polish) - it's very informative and interesting.
Łukasz C — Google review
The entrance ticket currently costs €13.50, with an additional €2.50 for the audio guide and €1.50 for admission to the viewing platform. Parking costs €1 per hour or €5 for the whole day. There are lots of information panels in the museum, so the length of your visit will depend mainly on how much you want to read them. There is also a cinema where a documentary is shown. My visit, during which I only read a small part of the panels, lasted 2½ hours. In addition to this, you can take a walk along the harbor docks and visit the interior of a submarine abandoned here by the Soviet Union and a German military ship; there is also a museum particularly aimed at children. All the large buildings and missile launch pads have been destroyed, with the sole exception of the power station, which remained in operation until 1990 and was then converted into this museum. Once upon a time, there was a quiet fishing and farming village with about 500 inhabitants, who certainly never imagined that in the future it would become one of the most important places in a world war and for the conquest of the Moon. Due to its isolation and geographical characteristics, in 1935 Peenemünde was identified as the ideal location for secret missile research, and by 1937 it had already been transformed into a small town. Scientists working on two separate projects were brought together there: the first was the Fielser flying bomb, renamed V-1 (“Vergeltungswaffen 1”), of which about 30,000 were produced. The second was the Aggregat missile, which was designed in 10 different versions; almost 5,800 units of the Aggregat 4, renamed V-2, were mass-produced. Upon discovering the existence of the secret base, the British RAF decided to destroy it completely with an attack carried out by 596 bombers on the night of August 17-18, 1943, but some of the targets were missed and the concentration camps where prisoners assigned to forced labor lived were also hit. Weapons production was moved to less vulnerable locations, but in 1944 there were three more bombings. In February 1945, the Third Reich military demolished what they considered important to prevent it from falling into the hands of the advancing Soviet troops, who conquered the base three months later. In turn, under international agreements, the Soviet military dismantled or transported what was left to the USSR, saving the power plant and the airport. The missiles that had not been launched became spoils of war, and the scientists who did not die in the bombings went to work in the research centers of the victorious nations. Wernher von Braun, the brilliant mind who designed the V-2 rockets, had been appointed major in the SS even though he had devoted himself solely to scientific work. Nevertheless, in 1944 he was arrested by the Gestapo for crimes against the state, but given his importance to the project, he was rehabilitated and allowed to return to lead it. At the end of the war, SS troops were ordered to kill him, but he managed to escape by crossing Germany with false documents to surrender to the Americans. In the United States, Von Braun, together with other German scientists from the Aggregat project and US scientists, designed the Jupiter-C rocket that put the first American satellite into Earth orbit. They then built the Saturn V rocket, which, as part of the Apollo program, enabled man to reach the Moon. Thanks to its beautiful beach, Peenemünde has become a seaside resort, with remnants of World War II scattered across a vast area. Only with a guided tour can you access the fenced-off area where the “Prüfstand VII” launch base was located.

This museum is fantastic! So much information and the way it has being layered out is very impressive. I spent almost three hours and unfortunately could not read all the material! The highlight was being able to visit a power plant! If you love history and engineering, this place is a must!! Entrance tickets can be bought on entrance bunker paid card or cash!
Virginia L — Google review
A most important historical site, where the Nazis under the direction of Werner Von Braun and other eminent scientists developed the V2 rocket propelled missile. Also the launching pad for the infamous V1 'Doodlebug" flying bomb which rained death upon London late in WW2. Thankfully it was too late to save the badly crumbling Third Reich. Its an amazing historical site now with launch pad and Rocket examples on display. The museum is interesting with its tales of how massive slave labour was used to achieve the manufacture of these terror weapons.
Dennis S — Google review
It's fair to say that the site is still in tact. The site to visit is 'Die Ausstellung' or exposition. It's pretty detailed if you want to grasp it all, I'd say take 4 hours certainly into account to cover the entire site. Everything is well displayed so the audio is complementary but not really necessary. The elevator (€1 surcharge) for the overview from the top you'll probably pay cuz while there why not but is not really worthwhile. The pictures you take downstairs will measure your expectations.
Geert L — Google review
Four stars for the technological advancement (albeit used by thugs as weapons), and brilliant brains behind what eventually led to the first moon landing. Considering the original site was blasted into dust, the museum was well put together and interesting but not sure about having the tiresome Goebbels droning on over a loud speaker in an exhibit. Ticket office staff are as expected. Parking charges but toilets free ! Usually the other way round.

The Maritim Museum Peenemünde U-461 is home to the largest diesel-powered submarine in the world, the Juliett U-461. This massive 1960s Soviet submarine offers visitors a chance to explore its torpedo rooms and even the captain's cabin. The museum also features the Taucher II, a diving support ship from 1959. Despite not being a fan of military museums or technology, many have found themselves fascinated by this unique experience.
Real Russian submarine, It‘ll take around 15 minutes. There are places to eat around.
SEVIL E — Google review
Very impressive Submarine with rocket launcher platforms. Again and again incredible how to work and life on such a ship. Although it is the biggest museum submarine it is fully packed with tubes, valves and so on. There are lots of explanation and even sounds to simulate the real life on board. Don't miss it if you around
Timo J — Google review
A story from the old Russian era can be experienced;-)
Thorvald H — Google review
It is really interesting to see cold war era russian submarine from inside. Visited with kids (10&11) who really enjoyed it. There's a steep ladder to get inside. You get to walk through one deck including periscope room, crew cabins, torpedo room and pass the missile launchers. Can't imagine living aboard in such a tiny space for weeks. It is like being in a huge clockwork - all the valves, pipelines, wires, switches - to master it and be able to control everything under enormous stress where mistake may lead to death must have been something. Can't imagine being on board when launching it's missiles either. The ship itself would deserve new paint but definitely worth seeing anyway
Tomáš K — Google review
A must-see for anyone interested in Cold War military items. The ship is very well preserved inside. Atmospheric lighting and background sound from the speakers. There could be more technical information, the complete absence of descriptions in a language other than German.
Krzysztof L — Google review
Very unique and interesting place. Trip is rather short as we are on just one level but still worth seeing this unique submarine.

Nice attraction, price is acceptable. Meaning it's kind of pricey for 2 adults 3 kids at 40 Euro for about 90 minutes having to entertain the kids to find fun stuff. However as an adult I respect how they try and make the most of the space compared to equaly or more expensive attractions around. It's certainly educational and well maintained. For awareness indoor is tropical, very humid and warm air.
Paul — Google review
Rating: ★★☆☆☆ The place was great, and the area was large, but I’m giving only two stars because of the poor parrots. They deserve better conditions, especially considering the expensive ticket prices. Their cages were so small… I really hope they get some of the benefits too.
Michael M — Google review
Wonderful indoor butterfly pavilion, excellent for families. Note that the climate is controlled to ensure a typical climate for the butterflies. Leave your coats and sweaters at the door, and be sure to use the bathroom before visiting because the bathrooms are at the very end of the one-way winding exhibits. There are also displays on lizards, beetles and other bugs, spiders, crystals, and other natural materials. The exhibits are not particularly scientific and could be improved with better direction. For example, the kitschy plastic animals could be replaced with informative models of butterflies or caterpillars.
Richard B — Google review
Although I only went to find out what insect eggs were on my Maple leaf there was nobody there to answer my question. However the staff were very helpful and I bought a book from their gift shop. They had many interesting things for sale including antiques.
A C — Google review
Very large and comfortable butterfly farm. Unfortunately high temperatures and humidoty don't work well together with protection masks.
Diana “ — Google review
Never seen anything like this. Thousands of butterflies flying around you.
Sergei S — Google review
The pricing of this place is totally out of proportion. I understand that creating an environment for the butterflies and maintain it costs money but seriously the price is not even mentioned on the web page. The commodities there are really outdated and old. Still it is a cool experience to see the butterflies in action. There is a variety of other insects and spiders as well. I would just noch recommend it due to the old facilities and the pricing.
Steve B — Google review
I was very satisfied that I visited this place and to me it was worth the price (for a person a bit interested in butterflies and a photography lover). Butterflies were stunning! Twice a huge butterfly, I guess Morpho peleides sat on me. My only remark is that it would be great if the farm had more species - one species definitely prevails.

This was a great find whilst my partner was taken ill and was staying in a specialist heart hospital nearby! The harbour or docs are home to a huge collection of traditional boats and ships built over time. The site is also home to ancient ruins - although I am not good at translating! There was music festival when I was there playing trance which was interesting!

I came here by accident and not knowing literally anything about sail boats and still found the place interesting enough to spend a decent hour there. One downside is that not all boats have info-plates attached and therefore can only be looked at and admired from afar but no historical background is provided.

Eldena Abbey

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Historic ruins of an iconic medieval monastery, circa 1199, in a serene park atmosphere.
If you ever find yourself wandering down Eldena Alley and feel like you've stumbled into a Caspar David Friedrich painting, don't worry—you have. This peaceful stretch in Greifswald is where Friedrich probably took his gloomy walks, thinking, "How can I make ruins look even more dramatic?" And boy, did he succeed. Eldena Abbey, or what’s left of it, stands like a giant, melancholic mood board for his paintings, and strolling through the alley feels like getting a personal tour of his mind—minus the existential dread, unless it starts raining. But here's the kicker: while Friedrich may have turned these ruins into symbols of transcendence and human frailty, the actual alley today is more like a scene from a quirky indie film. You’ll pass modern-day locals who probably have no idea they're in the shadow of Romanticism, casually biking through Friedrich’s once-upon-a-gothic-wonderland. Think of it as a weird time warp where art history meets real life, and where you, too, can embrace your inner brooding artist without looking like you're trying too hard. Just remember: ruin appreciation is a serious business. Bring a sketchbook, stare into the distance, and make sure someone catches you in the act - it’s what Caspar would’ve wanted.
Timothy T — Google review
The ruins are very well looked after. Very clean and spacious. The height of the portal is simply amazing!

A quiet and peaceful place with its own history. We had a picnic on the ruins of the abbey and there was such a feeling of peace that we didn't want to go home.👍
Tatiana Y — Google review
One of the famous places Caspar David Friedrich was painting. Certainly a must see for all lovers of romantic historic sites. But the city of Greifswald could and should do way more to improve the surroundings of this superb site, like taking care of the park, offering a visitor centre, cutting trees and bushes to allow better views of the ruins...
Oliver F — Google review
Worth a visit. Park setting makes for a nice walk among the ruins.
John H — Google review
Some pretty interesting history involved in these ruins. If you can get a local to tell you the story, or visit the Landesmuseum in Greifswald to get a bit more background information on this. The landesmuseum also has a model of what this "kloster" looked like before it become ruins.

This was an amazing insight into the history of flight at the Otto Lilienthal Museum. Documents, photos, original machines and models of aircraft both small and life size. Tarzania Rope Park in Poland is a popular destination for families and adventure seekers. While parking may be limited, the friendly and helpful staff contribute to an overall enjoyable experience. With ropes, trees, ziplines, and more, this rope park provides a ton of fun for all ages.
It's great here, I Don't live in Poland but whenever I come here for holidays I always go to this place, it's really cheap as well and you don't have to pay to get in to the beach if you go there, (if you still have to pay to get in, it might have changed)

Getting a 5 year old to try a new skill like this was somewhat an interesting concept but it turned out to be the best experience. The crew was patient and demonstrated all the skills well enough for a young child to repeat successfully. We definitely caught the bug and we’ll be back for more !!

Large complex with indoor/outdoor pools, water slides & a wave pool, plus saunas & a salt grotto.
Slightly long wait time if you don't go super early. It took us 45 minutes to enter. Nice experience inside for the adults as well as the kids. Pools are nice. 3-4 hours are usually enough here - we didn't stay long even though we had a day pass. Parking is free. Portions in the cafeteria are quite small, especially the chicken nuggets. Food taste was alright.

I love this place. I spend a whole day enjoy this place. Swimming and Sauna. Very relaxing, not crowded, and a lot of attractions to do. Streaming, fountain, wave like in a beach, waterfalls etc. I love waterfalls, because somehow they feels like massage, and I live to do that for my back. And I love the jacuzzi with hot salt water, it's so relaxing for my whole body. The Sauna is clearly awesome, you can even choose the temperature based on their room. And they make some variation spices/ingredients/smell (salt, honey, mint, herbs, etc) every hour in some sauna rooms.
Patricia W — Google review
The pools are great, the only disadvantages are that you cannot buy tickets upfront and therefore on the weekends there could be massive queues. No variety of food offered.

Rrlatively small, must be busy during holidays. We have visited later in the afternoon at 5 pm and this place was not crowded. They have big restaurant inside. Two hours visit was just enough.
Eva K — Google review
We came all the way from Berlin and were not disappointed! We started our stay with some lunch. Food was good, not overpriced and had decent portion sizes. (Lunch ladies were very friendly and hospitable) Both the main compartment and the separate spa compartment are great! We felt very comfortable in both settings! Only downside was that the spa area did not have a thermal water pool. Overall we would recommend this place for anyone and would come again!
Richard D — Google review
The Sauna area here is great. It has its own side entrance too so you don't need to go through the main pool area. The pool itself is good it has slides and is quite adventurous for kids.
Ed M — Google review
I recently visited the thermal bath and wanted to provide some feedback. Firstly, I was disappointed to encounter a strong smell of urine in the toilet area. This was quite off-putting and affected the overall experience. Additionally, I noticed that the inner pools had not been renovated, as I could see old Kalk (lime) residue. It would be great if the management could address this issue to maintain cleanliness and comfort for the visitors. On a positive note, I appreciated the presence of a friendly personal an a lifeguard at the Wellenbereich. It felt reassuring to know that trained personnel were overseeing the safety of the visitors. Furthermore, the thermal bath offered plenty of space, allowing for a relaxed and uncrowded atmosphere. The slides were enjoyable, providing an element of fun to the experience. However, it was unfortunate that there seemed to be a lack of proper control or supervision around the slides, which could potentially lead to safety concerns. Overall, there were both positive and negative aspects to my visit, and addressing the areas for improvement would enhance the overall quality of the thermal bath.

Chorin Abbey

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
This 13th-century Gothic monastery in a serene, scenic setting offers exhibits & guided tours.
A Cistercian monastery that looks as if it had lost a battle with time - and won it back! The holy ruins are beautifully airy and reminiscent of Swiss cheese. That's why the cloister is not suitable for a game of hide and seek. But seriously, the thing is charming. That's what the architect and monument conservationist KF Schinkel must have thought when he rediscovered it. The entrance fee is worth the money; there is a museum inside that, among other things, tries to explain the secrets of the inscriptions on the stones.

Just an amazing place to visit at the weekend with the kids! It's a gothic monastery opened in the 13th century. It's just half an hour walk from Chorin Bahnhof through the forest and lakes. We really enjoyed it

We had an absolutely interesting tour through the tests of the abbey. The cost is 85€ and we’re 5 people. 1,5 hours full of history, interesting facts and stories about the building and the monks that lived in. After that we had a small lunch at the café. And finished the day with a walk around the lake.

What a stunning place. When you come late check if it’s still open. Great for taking walks and hiking. The Gothic Chorin Monastery is a former Cistercian abbey near the town of Chorin, about six kilometers north of Eberswalde in the Brandenburg district of Barnim. It was founded by Ascanian margraves in 1258 and had far-reaching importance on the northern edge of the Ascanian sphere of influence.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Tours of an enormous ship hoist dating from 1934 & featuring a 36-meter lift for water traffic.
Our bike trip from Berlin to Niederfinow was an unforgettable adventure! Pedaling through scenic fields and charming small towns, we were treated to a picturesque journey that perfectly set the stage for the highlight of our day. Upon reaching Niederfinow, we were thrilled to catch the Schiffhebewerk in action. Witnessing this engineering marvel in motion was absolutely awe-inspiring. The sheer scale and precision of the ship lift left us in amazement. It’s incredible to see how effortlessly it raises and lowers massive vessels, a testament to human ingenuity and craftsmanship. The entire experience was both educational and exhilarating, offering a unique glimpse into the workings of a historic yet fully functional piece of engineering. If you’re ever near Berlin, we highly recommend taking the time to visit Schiffhebewerk Niederfinow—it’s a sight you won’t want to miss!

I never knew that there was something like that in Brandenburg. If you go there in a warm season, make sure to take a boat tour. We were lucky to get the last boat tour this year: it is an unforgettable and unique experience to sit on a boat being lifted to a higher river level! During the boat tour you get guide explanations, so you will still learn a lot even if you prefer the boat to the classical excursion 😉

A building straight out of Starwars, but actually bigger, very real and without a cheesy love story! One of these anywhere would be a good reason for a visit, but here they have two! cancel your Dinsney subscription and visit Niederfinow, ideally u come by boat and take a ride!

This could be 5 star + We paid 5€ to walk around the old boat lift. Unfortunately all the information boards were in German or Polish. It was amazing to see the huge structure and to see how it worked lifting the boats, both were still in use. However, I found the whole experience a bit of a money spinner, you have to pay to park, pay to activate the App, pay to use the toilet and the only way to see the new boat lift is with a tour guide, but that's only in German! With all this money they are generating they could put some English information out. There is a small information centre which is free to enter and they had information boards on how it was erected and fortunately it was in English too 👍. The staff member we spoke to was very helpful and fortunately spoke some English which was a great help.

Something different - if in area definitely worth a visit We did a 3-day road trip around the Brandenburg region and this definitely was a highlight. During our exploring, we saw many beautiful castles, townships and lakes to this was something different. We were travelling with a Labrador. You can take a dog up. Dog-friendly. At the ticket kiosk, they gave us a pass that gave us entry via the door, rather than the rotating gate. Parking - there is one main car park - when leaving make sure you get a token (costs 3 euros for a car) from the parking machine next to the toilets, right by the drive-in/ out. Ha ! I thought you had to put 3 euros into the exit barrier machine. ...but no, it just takes the tokens.

Zoologischer Garten Eberswalde

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Animal park with species from 5 continents, plus a petting zoo, playground & conservation program.
Lovely quaint zoo where we were up, close and personal with the animals without feeling like we were invading their space. We stayed after closing and let ourselves out. I found this great especially after driving an hour to get there. Special touch were the Ring tailed Lemurs that were allowed to roam the premises and escorted us to the gate. It was a magical experience for my two kids, my wife and I. Also, we appreciate that we were allowed to bring our dog with us who remained on a short leash and was very intrigued by the animals we had close contact with.
Edgar Q — Google review
A nice zoo with lots of areas retained in a quasi-natural state. The wolves' enclosure, in disappointing contrast, had way too much concrete. The canteen was all meat and Wurst, the only vegetarian option being French Fries. Still, it was a half-day well spent.

This is a lovely zoo, especially if you like big cats. We were able to admire a tiger, cheetahs, lions, jaguar and serval, not to mention several species of monkey, a colony of penguins, a bison with a baby, and some seriously underrated domestic cattle 😁 We entered on a family ticket for 25 euros (2 adults and 2 children over 4yo), which I think was a very fair price.

Nice little zoo, lot of animals, lots of playgrounds for children, clean and friendly. Some parts are left as natural forest. Restaurant has no vegetarian options, which is a pity.

Sachsenhausen Memorial & Museum

The Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen is a powerful site that serves as a reminder of the atrocities committed during the Nazi regime. Visitors can explore the camp at their own pace, with guided tours available for deeper insight. The museum houses numerous artifacts, descriptions, and first-hand accounts that shed light on the horrors that took place there. Audio guides are recommended for a more comprehensive experience. While some parts of the camp have deteriorated over time, the sheer scale of the site is awe-inspiring.
One of the best I have been to. With the audio guide and information boards you can really get a feel of what was happening here over the 30 to 60 time period
Paul A — Google review
It was very informative with a cheap audio guide (roughly €3. 50). Entry is free. It's not very easy to find your way there if you're using public transport. Google Maps took us in via an office complex and police headquarters (the old SS training camp, I believe). It's got a lot of information in the different rooms with a lot of reading, although plenty of different languages are catered for. A lot of the main areas to visit have been restored or rebuilt and it's hard to gauge the conditions of the time. It does seem to be a work in progress to restore everything and add extra sections. Some of the interactive exhibits didn't seem to work which would be troublesome for those who needed audio guidance. The computers we were using at one point just all turned off. I would recommend it but it needs a full day and plenty of energy for all of the walking and some stamina for the reading. I think they offer guided tours but I'm not certain.

This is an amazing place and a must see. Its part of our world's history. The Nazis were so cruel. I was so upset when I visited today at the hurt and pain the Jews suffered in the concentration camps. May they all rest in peace now.

A profoundly moving and essential memorial. The Sachsenhausen Memorial & Museum is thoughtfully curated, offering deep insight into both the Nazi concentration camp and post-war Soviet use. The exhibitions, preserved buildings, and memorials are powerful and respectful. A must-visit for anyone seeking to understand this history.

Ok visit, but not that many original details still there which makes it more difficult to grasp the extent of the horror, especially for our teens. I don't want to say it's necessary to have the horrific details around, but to me it does bring a tangible message across for next generations, to make sure it never happens again.

The Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial is a museum and memorial located in Lichtenberg, Berlin. It was originally a site used by the Nazis and later transformed into a remand prison by the Soviets, known as Special Encampment No.3, which was further expanded by the Stasi.
Great history lesson. And if you are of a certain age, a lot of it happened in your own lifetime. Brutal treatment by the Russians after the war, and then in more recent times by the communist German secret police. Very interesting tour led by historian Andreas Ott, who escaped the east when only 19. Some of the other tour guides had experience as prisoners here. Tour lasts around 2 hours. Some great tales told. Well worth the trip out to the east end.
Bruce R — Google review
The location can only be visited with a guide and tours are available at fixed hours. They have guides available in: German and English. The visit was beautiful, the guide was ok, with many explanations. The tour lasts about 2 hours. You are allowed to take pictures and film inside. The cost is 9 euros. It was worth the whole tour. I recommend. 👍

The whole memorial area is a very educational location, great to share and spread awareness on the atrocities of the Nazi regime. Not for the faint hearted. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, get snacks, & most importantly pick a guide that's passionate; I was lucky to have Paul from Get your Guide, who gave us the nitty gritty details of the whole camp and it's history.
Nour N — Google review
Good place to remember an important part of our history, it does a good job of putting the crimes of the Stasi into context. Tours are lead by contemporaries and former inmates, very nice and informative guides. When i visited, the weather really sucked but otherwise it’s a well designed visitor center with a decent bookstore.

A former Stasi prison for political prisoners, shown around by Hans Schreider a former political prisoner, very knowledgeable and a very moving visit.
Derek R — Google review
Impressive visit, thanks to the decor that brings you straight back to DDR days and especially thanks to the tour guide that himself had to spend years in the prison. Must visit when in Berlin.
Katrien D — Google review
This tour was the highlight of our time in Berlin. Our guide, Johannes, was extraordinary — deeply passionate and able to convey the history of the prison in a way that was powerful and moving. He led us through what life was like for prisoners, from the early, horrific conditions to the later era of psychological torment. It’s not an easy visit, but it’s an incredibly important and unforgettable one.
Eileen B — Google review
Our tour guide was such a brilliant and respectful teacher about the GDR, the Stasi, and the prison itself. I deeply wish I could remember his name, but he led the English tour and has a beard and glasses if that helps. I knew very little about the Stasi before attending a the tour and our guide allowed us to ask questions and also encouraged us to reflect on how we can protect human rights in the present day.

The Stasi Museum, located in the former headquarters of the Stasi, offers a compelling insight into the operations of the notorious East German secret police during the Cold War. Visitors can explore original spying equipment and archives while gaining an understanding of how the Stasi influenced all aspects of life in East Germany. The museum also provides access to Erich Mielke's offices, offering a glimpse into one of the most feared figures in communist East Germany.
While this is not one of the most beautiful sites to see in Berlin, it is an interesting place that is housed within the walls of history itself. These were the original headquarters of the Stasi itself and the museum offers a good insight into the operations and activities of an omni present state oversight department. A high light of a trip for any historian.
The A — Google review
For history buffs, the Stasi Museum is an absolute must. Housed in the former espionage headquarters of the DDR, it offers a fascinating collection of photographs, artifacts, and—perhaps most compelling—original rooms once used by the secret service. You can easily spend hours exploring everything it has to offer.
Alex G — Google review
This incredibly immersive museum does an excellent job of demonstrating the reach, power, and aims of the DDR’s Stasi repressive domestic intelligence agency. The exhibits highlight the stories of those who either willingly or were compelled to cooperate with the Stasi, as well as the techniques and methods the agency and its head Erich Mielke utilized to maintain control until the collapse of communism in 1990.
Michael N — Google review
The Stasi Museum in Berlin is a place of reflection and learning. It presents East Germany’s history with care, emphasising both the political realities and the personal experiences of those who lived under the Stasi. The building, the offices, and the rooms provide a humbling encounter with history.
Carlotta P — Google review
Excellent museum if you’re a history buff. The original rooms are great and really captures the mood. The €1 upsell to allow you to take photos inside is a fairly ironic annoyance considering this place’s past.
Dave B — Google review
Very good museum, great how they still have everything in original state. Educational, I thought I knew all, but learned alot.
P. R — Google review
Very interesting museum. It felt strange to walk the same halls as former Stasi officers but also was very immersive, and neat how well preserved everything was- down to the chairs and paintings on the walls. I came with my university class and we had such a great tour from our tour guide. I forget his name but I am sure they are all as great as him.

Great museum, if you are interested in this kind of topic. I could join a group with a guide and it was even better, spend 2 hours in the guided walk, but you could spend much more time there.

The area is bustling with over 100 stalls selling a variety of items, from handbags to handicrafts, as well as an array of Christmassy snacks. Visitors can also enjoy fairground rides and glide across a huge ice rink. The location is within walking distance to Mitte and offers easy access to the airport.
Whoa, this place is lively! There's music and shows everywhere. Alexanderplatz, with the TV tower in the background... It was pretty busy when we were in Berlin for the marathon, but it wasn't too packed. Loads of restaurants to choose from while you enjoy the view..

It's a place every tourist in Berlin needs visit at least once. The sphere observation deck offers incredible 360 views of the city. Lots of restaurants, shops, street performers and don't forget the vibe. The only tickets you need is to get to the sphere.

For years, whenever I come to Berlin, I've stayed near Alexanderplatz. There's always a lot going on there. Nearby are restaurants and shops, and from there you can reach any part of Berlin and beyond, either with a transfer or directly. Unfortunately, there are a lot of homeless people, but these are the times we live in... You have to be careful in the evenings, but I still love this place. I love the curry wurst, which has been available for many years in the same place, under the famous Alexanderplatz station sign.
Falkor — Google review
It's huge, but the subway decor is interesting if you like that sort of thing. Spotlessly clean and has some takeaway places along the way that served fresh food to go.

A great city centre square surrounded by bars restaurants shops, it's a Fantastic place to visit as it's situated next to the Berlin tv tower which is a must do. Also the world clock is situated here .

Alexanderplatz is a vibrant heart of Berlin, constantly alive with movement and atmosphere. With the TV Tower rising beside it and the famous World Clock at its center, the square feels unmistakably iconic. It’s surrounded by an endless mix of shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars, making it an easy place to wander, explore, or simply take in the buzz of the city. Thanks to excellent transport links, it’s also one of the most convenient spots to begin your Berlin adventures. Yes, it gets busy, but that lively energy is exactly what makes Alexanderplatz such a memorable stop.

One of the "main points" of Berlin and a good place to start from if you are visiting Berlin for the first time since you have mostly everything there- grocery stores, malls, cathedral, TV tower, museums and it's also near other main points such as Babelplatz with its faculties and some major historical places. Also covered with every transportation system- buses, trams, SBahns and UBahns.

Rüdersdorf Museum Park

Open air museum
Nature & Parks
Rüdersdorf Museum Park offers a range of attractions, including nature trails, a geology museum, and picnic spots. Visitors can take tours of an active limestone quarry and mine, where they can witness explosions for mining the limestone. The main museum area features old and new buildings, historical windmills, and a brewery. Guided tours are available for groups, providing in-depth knowledge about the site's history and geology.
Not only is a great historical place, the staff was friendly and interesting to talk to. Big plus that you can bring your bike in and tour inside the museum grounds. Makes it a bit quicker. There’s also a small river and places to sit on a side so you can chill after a long bike ride
Carlos C — Google review
I have had the pleasure of visiting Museumspark Rüdersdorf three times for festivals and countless times to decorate and Plan. Each visit has been a fantastic experience. The space is absolutely massive, offering endless room for creativity, whether you are hosting an open-air event, a festival, a retreat, or any type of gathering. The old factory serves as a stunning backdrop, adding character and atmosphere to any event. One of the best features is the on-site accommodation, which is super convenient for organizers and staff who need to stay longer. It is a great place to build your dream event. However, I have to mention that in the past year, the prices have risen significantly, which has been disappointing. This change makes it harder to give a full five-star rating. And the trash disposal could be organized better. Despite this, I still highly recommend the venue for its unique charm and potential.

Big industrial park, I was surprised to see so many old buildings there. The ovens are really fascinating. One can get a lot of cool pictures and learn a lot from the exhibition.

We had a very nice pre-booked tour of the quarry. Guides were very knowledgeable and took their time especially with the children. They ensured the everyone found an exciting fossil at the dig! After induction and a tour in the museum we were driven in Landrovers to the dig. At 10 and 1330 you might be lucky to see the explosion for mining the limestone. Bring a little bucket and hardy shoes. Safety equipment and digging tools are provided.

The East Side Gallery is a preserved graffiti project covering a 1,316m-long remnant of the Berlin Wall in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. It celebrates the fall of the wall and features around 100 graffiti paintings by artists from all over the world.
A little way from the main tourist attractions, it’s a pleasant walk along the river Spree to see the longest remaining part of the Berlin Wall. 1.3 km in length, decorated by over 100 artists with short information boards along the way. Here you get a feel of what a divided city this was. Only the 3.6 m inner wall remains but add the boundary signal fence, 3m border fence and a watchtower every 600 meters to appreciate how separate both sides must have felt.

I had to visit this place for my 3 days in Berlin and it didn't disappoint! Iconic to Berlin. Some are a trip and some I didn't get, but if you run into those you can walk right past to a new piece. Information on the artists is listed in front of the artwork. Super cool. I went solo I don't think I would want to go as a group by going solo you can spend time enjoying the parts you like and take it at your own pace.

An iconic open-air gallery full of history, emotion, and creativity. Each mural tells a unique story — from freedom and unity to peace and hope. Walking along the wall is both thought-provoking and inspiring. A must-visit in Berlin for anyone who wants to feel the city’s soul through art.

East Side Gallery – An iconic open-air landmark An absolutely iconic spot. It’s the longest preserved section of the Berlin Wall, stretching for about 1.5 km along the riverbank. Essentially, it’s an open-air museum showcasing creative, impactful, and often thought-provoking wall art from various artists. It’s definitely worth a visit, as it gives you a strong sense of what the divided city once looked and felt like. The artworks are unique, symbolic, and visually striking. It's also a great place for those classic “Berlin” hype photos. Many murals even include QR codes that provide background information about each piece. A small warning: the area is very busy and there are quite a few pickpockets around. Just keep an eye on your belongings so that this otherwise great experience isn’t spoiled. Overall, a must-see in Berlin.
Christos S — Google review
The East Side Gallery offers a wonderful walking experience filled with vibrant, amazing murals that vividly capture the history and spirit of Berlin. The artwork not only celebrates freedom but also includes clean, powerful graffiti that traces the story of the Berlin Wall dividing East and West Germany.Beyond the murals, the park behind the wall provides a peaceful and picturesque spot to relax after the walk, making the entire visit both culturally enriching and refreshing. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in history, art, and the unique atmosphere of Berlin.
A — Google review
As the history of Berlin is very dictated by the wall that separated it, very good to see it and easy to imagine how it would feel for the people living in the same city but separated from this giand wall. Also i liked that in the park nearby was a lot a people who were chilling, playing and having fun 🌞
Valdrin A — Google review
It was amazing to see the Berlin Wall up close, covered in murals that are not just beautiful but also carry powerful messages. For me it had historic moments to things that still feel relevant today. The walk isn’t too long, and every few steps there’s another piece of art that makes you stop and think. Definitely worth visiting.
Nabeel Z — Google review
I really enjoyed looking across at all the art and little tags locals and others had made on the wall, took plenty of photos. One thing that did irritate me slightly was the amount of attention the picture of the two men kissing got was ridiculous, also it was so crowded at this specific picture that it was almost impossible to take a photo of it and even walk past it, people by this specific picture were also very rude pushing others out of the way. It really upsets me because so many of the other pictures barely had any attention when I would argue there were so much nicer than the one stated above

I observed a monument for Russian soldiers. This pathetic monument symbolizing victory of Soviet Union in WWII and all symbolic depicts Soviet and Russian propaganda about Russians as deliberators of Europe. So I had a complex feeling- from one point - it’s a quality piece of art, from the other side, it’s a disgusting sample of propaganda

If you are in Berlin, you should visit this place. The park is beautiful. It is full of paths for walkers and cyclists. You can cool off on hot days by the water in the shade of the trees. The only thing I don't like is the quote from Lenin and Stalin, which, in my opinion, spoils the overall impression a little. But overall, I recommend this place to everyone.

Wide park with a touching but imposing memorial to the Red Army for their victory in the Second World War, it is a wonderful place to both remember history and have a moment to walk outside and relax. It lacks public lighting, so it is strongly recommended to avoid the park at night as it is pitch dark.
