Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Granitz Hunting Castle, located in the resort town of Binz, Rugen, is a 19th-century museum with five crenellated towers and grand rooms. The castle offers a luxurious setting for hunting enthusiasts with its incredible collection of animal skulls, antlers, and stuffed stag. It also features a 144m-high viewing platform and a cast-iron spiral staircase with 154 steps.
Unfortunately, the day was foggy, and we couldn’t see anything from the tower. However, everything else was great, and of course, it’s not their fault for the weather. I’d recommend others to visit on a sunny day to get the full experience. We drove up by car, but the route is also beautiful for hiking.
Magdalena S — Google review
This was super cool. Enjoyed climbing the tower which wasn’t as tiring as I thought it would be. A lot to look at and take in. I enjoyed the hike up from the parking lot (about 2km).
Ava F — Google review
Nice Castle, well kept, very friendly and accommodating staff. Not a lot to see but what is there is set up and explained very well and entry fee is very reasonable. The highlight is the metal staircase leading to the view point above, think it’s 154 spiralling see through steps, maybe not for those with fear of heights.
Paul F — Google review
The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the stunning spiral staircase that winds its way up the tower. The panoramic views from the top were breathtaking and made every step worth it. The peaceful surroundings and scenic walks around the grounds added to the charm of the visit. Overall, the Granitz Hunting Lodge is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Rügen Island.
Emiliano L — Google review
interesting place! if you choose to park at the hiking trail parking you get a nice short hike of 25-30 minutes through the farmhouse and deciduous forest up to the hunting lodge,
Jonas A — Google review
It takes a little hike to get the lodge, but it's really worth it. During the hike through the beautiful woods, you come across animals and a steam train. The castle is beautiful, and the inside is very well preserved. With big chandeliers, hunting trophies, and paintings of the royals who lived there. You can also get to the top of the tower by walking an iron staircase. Once you reach the top, you're welcomed by a beautiful view. The only thing I missed was information in English, so bring your German friend or Google translate.
Laurien S — Google review
I love this castle. Great interactive explanations for children. A lot of interactive features, for example the animation of the travel journal that makes you feel like you’re traveling to Egypt as well. The architecture is exquisite but sadly the hunting trophies 🏆 were stolen.

Great experience - wish we'd ridden bikes up instead of walking though. Beautiful views, interesting history, great collection in the museum.

Great walk along the promenade with lots of places to eat and drink available. The beach itself is excellent with the usual chairs available to rent. Definitely worth a visit.

"A perfect day at Binz beach!" I absolutely loved my time at the beach in Binz! The sand is soft and clean, the water crystal clear, and the atmosphere simply relaxing. The long promenade is ideal for a walk or bike ride, with plenty of cozy cafés and restaurants to stop by. What impressed me most was how well-kept everything is – from the beach chairs to the facilities, you can tell they really care about visitors here. Whether you just want to swim, sunbathe, or enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea, Binz is the perfect place. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful beach experience in Germany. I’ll definitely come back! 🌊☀️🌴
Svetlana R — Google review
Beautiful long stretch of sandy beach. It was not very crowded on public holidays. There was enough space for everyone. Kids had fun playing with sand and collecting sea shells and building castles. There were a lot of sea gulls flying around, some of them can be seen snatching food from humans..:D
AmazingTrails — Google review
Great atmosphere, lively beach. Shallow for many meters which is fantastic. Unfortunately we couldn't spend more time as we had planned the more disappointing Glowe more 😔. We were just passing by and couldn't get into water with our swim gear. Next time we shall be prepared!
Chandan S — Google review
Amazing place to visit. All this island is beautiful but Binz has it all: sea, restaurants, landscapes and shopping. Take some bread to the beach and you will be able to interact with the birds, look at my experience in the photos. We had a great day, no matter the weather, the place is great. I very much recommend.
Daniel W — Google review
This attraction bustling with tourists in summer, was calm and serene with hardly any soul around this winter. It was absolutely beautiful to see the beach sand covered with white snow. The entire stretch of beach has resorts facing the ocean. Taking a walk on Seebrücke Binz is a must! :)

A very nice, not too busy beach with public restrooms and options for food and drink.

Historic Walking Areas
Cape Arkona is a picturesque promontory featuring two lighthouses, a bunker, and stunning 45-meter-high cliffs. Situated near Jasmund National Park, this protected area includes a charming fisherman's village where visitors can savor fresh fish sandwiches along the rocky shore. The site offers breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding villages, making it an ideal destination for leisurely walks and exploration.
Beautiful view!! I also climbed the lighthouse and the sea can be seen in all its splendor!! The ascent is done on foot or optionally by train or horse-drawn cart.
Simona P — Google review
They say this is on the top of the list you must see in Rugen island. I wouldn't recomend the same. Esppecially when you're short in time. Nature around is beautiful no doubt. But you can't see much of it because of really dense and high bushes and trees which is only lovely when the sun is really hot. Otherwice it's not a lovely walk since you can see nothing through them. Wavy fields around makes an impression. You can find them anywhere in Germany and you don't have to go here. Three lighthouses in one place you don't find often. You can't beat this if you're lighthouse fan, but if you're not you'd say I've seen more impressive ones. The view to the rocky shore is only nice when you climb to the top of of two lighthouses which are not too tall. Otherwice you can see only bushes and a dusty path ;) Small fisherman tawn Vitt is lovely. It's approx. 1.5 km from the lighthouses. But also if you're short in time you'll find a lot of old houses with straw roofs aroud the whole Rugen. Sure if you have plenty of time you can take long walks down the rocks on the sea shore, but the climbs won't be easy. If I had to choose one of two most desirable places must see in Rugen I would definetly go for Jasmund national park. It's my personal opinion. Have a great time in Rugen!
Linas L — Google review
Nice place. Recommend.
Donatas S — Google review
Amazing views and beautiful cliffs. Surrounding villages are picturesque and worth visiting.
Kacper K — Google review
Prepare for a long walk from praking place. Driving own car is forbidden.
Marek J — Google review
In general this is a tourist scam trap. You have to park your car on a 7 eur flat fee parking area and walk among restaurants, souvenir shops. The lighthouses are average at best. From the viewpoints you can see often nothing. Go anywhere else and see the sea there. One of the most underwhelming places I have seen in a long time.
Petr C — Google review
We easily parked our car and walked up to the lighthouses (four of them) and then explored the trails at the to of the cliffs. It's a well taken care of wonderful place. By the way, if getting married in a lighthouse is a bucket-list item for you than this is the place to do just that!!!
Stan S — Google review
It is amazingly beautiful! Very calm and a nice area to take a walk with the hole family. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is the prices! It is pretty expensive to visit the lighthouses and of course to use the bathroom! We had to pay 4 euros for parking the car and almost 6 euros for using the facilities!

Great evening. Definitively worth a visit and splashing out on good seats. Amazing setup and scenery and a beautiful fireworks display over the water.

This show is awesome!! The effects, the story, the scenery, the acting. Excellent!!! Highly recommend. My German is not the best and I could still follow the story. My in laws have been multiple times and love it. Now I do too!!!

An unique experience of open air theatre of full package of drama and entertainment. Whats nice: 1. From the car park to the festival area, one could either walk or take an cute electric train (for 2,50 euros a person). 2. The festival area has an amazing choice of food and drink options and many toilets. 3. The show started exactly on time (at 8 pm) with a 30 minute break in between and ended at 10 pm. 4. The actors are excellent at their job and so were all the special effects. Overall a great experience !
Roshma R — Google review
Beautiful performance on a natural stage, both on land and on water. You need to know some German. But in any case, it's a great spectacle! A bit chilly in early summer (bring a blanket).

Brilliant experience for the whole family. Kids are four and eight. The little one fell asleep halfway through. But the older child got a lot out of it. We’ve taken the boat. It’s a late day if you do and there is no time for autographs if you need to catch the boat home. We came back next day after chatting with actors over instagram.

Eldena Abbey

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Historic ruins of an iconic medieval monastery, circa 1199, in a serene park atmosphere.
If you ever find yourself wandering down Eldena Alley and feel like you've stumbled into a Caspar David Friedrich painting, don't worry—you have. This peaceful stretch in Greifswald is where Friedrich probably took his gloomy walks, thinking, "How can I make ruins look even more dramatic?" And boy, did he succeed. Eldena Abbey, or what’s left of it, stands like a giant, melancholic mood board for his paintings, and strolling through the alley feels like getting a personal tour of his mind—minus the existential dread, unless it starts raining. But here's the kicker: while Friedrich may have turned these ruins into symbols of transcendence and human frailty, the actual alley today is more like a scene from a quirky indie film. You’ll pass modern-day locals who probably have no idea they're in the shadow of Romanticism, casually biking through Friedrich’s once-upon-a-gothic-wonderland. Think of it as a weird time warp where art history meets real life, and where you, too, can embrace your inner brooding artist without looking like you're trying too hard. Just remember: ruin appreciation is a serious business. Bring a sketchbook, stare into the distance, and make sure someone catches you in the act - it’s what Caspar would’ve wanted.
Timothy T — Google review
The ruins are very well looked after. Very clean and spacious. The height of the portal is simply amazing!
Alevtina U — Google review
Cool place. Great to take pictures, walk around, relax, like a cool park. Small kids will love exploring it
Sandra S — Google review
A quiet and peaceful place with its own history. We had a picnic on the ruins of the abbey and there was such a feeling of peace that we didn't want to go home.👍
Tatiana Y — Google review
One of the famous places Caspar David Friedrich was painting. Certainly a must see for all lovers of romantic historic sites. But the city of Greifswald could and should do way more to improve the surroundings of this superb site, like taking care of the park, offering a visitor centre, cutting trees and bushes to allow better views of the ruins...
Oliver F — Google review
Worth a visit. Park setting makes for a nice walk among the ruins.
John H — Google review
Some pretty interesting history involved in these ruins. If you can get a local to tell you the story, or visit the Landesmuseum in Greifswald to get a bit more background information on this. The landesmuseum also has a model of what this "kloster" looked like before it become ruins.
Quentin W — Google review
Very interesting to see the history here dating back all the way to 1199. I think it's the oldest architecture still standing that I've seen

This was a great find whilst my partner was taken ill and was staying in a specialist heart hospital nearby! The harbour or docs are home to a huge collection of traditional boats and ships built over time. The site is also home to ancient ruins - although I am not good at translating! There was music festival when I was there playing trance which was interesting!
Alex H — Google review
I came here by accident and not knowing literally anything about sail boats and still found the place interesting enough to spend a decent hour there. One downside is that not all boats have info-plates attached and therefore can only be looked at and admired from afar but no historical background is provided.

We walked up to the tower of this wood built church. The view and experience is absolutely amazing. If you like well-built old beautiful churches, then you must experience this one. My favorite.

Old yet recently renovated place. Can climb the tower, outside can be seen. Very beautiful. You may need to buy a ticket for 3 euro. For children and students there is a 1.50 discount.
Yasas P — Google review
Really nice view if you feel like walking up 200+ steps 🙂
Jens Z — Google review
A beautiful church with a lot of history for the town. Definitely make your way up to the tower if you can. It's a bit of a climb, but the journey is so interesting. Winding staircases, old brick walls and metal rails, time windows along the way, the bells in the tower, and an incredible view over the city once you reach the top. I think I will do it again sometime. So cool!
Jacob N — Google review
The church itself is quite impressive, but the most interesting part is climbing up the tower to have a look above all Greifswald! The price is okay; 1,50€/3€! (I would recommend it to you and say that it's worth it!!)
HelMa U — Google review
dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers and merchants, is a Brick Gothic church located in the western part of the centre of Greifswald. It was the main church and seat of the bishop of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church. The first written sources referring to a church dedicated to St. Nicholas in Greifswald are from 1263. The oldest extant parts of the church have been dated to the last third of the 13th century. The building of the church started with the erection of a single-nave choir, which was later incorporated in a hall church with two aisles and a nave of equal size. The foundations of the western tower were laid at the same time. The church was furnished with its first organ already in 1362. In 1385 work was begun on a new choir with a straight eastern wall, which was finished in 1395. The church lost its spire twice during severe storms. The first time was in 1515, when the top collapsed, apparently without causing any severe damage to the church building. It was not replaced until 1609. The collapse on 13 February 1650 initially destroyed the roof of the church, causing several of the vaults of the nave and southern aisle to collapse, and a few days later, the eastern wall of the church also collapsed. The interior of the church was thoroughly renewed in 1823–1832. The refurnishing was carried out to the designs by the Greifswald architect Gottlieb Giese. The church is constructed solely out of brick. It has the form of a basilica with a nave and two side-aisles. The nave is somewhat higher than the aisles; both the nave and the aisles walls have pointed, Gothic windows. The eastern wall has a trapezoid form and a richly articulated facade. The roof of the nave is made of copper, while the covering of the aisles are made of brick. The western tower has a height of 99.97 metres (328.0 ft). The square lower part of the tower is in its upper parts decorated with blind arcades. Very little remains of the medieval furnishings of the church. What remained of these after the destruction of 1650 was removed from the church at the latest in the 1790s. A medieval sculpture of Mary later came into the possession of the Catholic congregation in Stralsund. The large, Renaissance altarpiece was brought to a museum in Stralsund in 1876. Almost all the presently visible furnishings of the church date from the renovation an refurnishing of the church carried out in 1823–1832.

Dornbusch lighthouse

Mentioned on

Lighthouses
Perched on a cliff overlooking the Baltic Sea, Dornbusch Lighthouse is a historic landmark that was established in 1888. Located on Hiddensee island, this old-fashioned lighthouse serves as an important navigational aid for coastal ships. The name "Dornbusch" originates from the thorn bushes surrounding its location. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walking trail leading to the well-maintained lighthouse and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty.
Beautiful place! This lighthouse is placed in the beautiful national park. You can enter the view point on the lighthouse (3 EUR for adult) and relax looking on amazing view. Recommend to visit the whole area and the view point.
Ewelina B — Google review
Beautiful view and sight. Unfortunately the lighthouse was closed when we arrived there… take care of the new opening hours which are now updated. We rid the bike to get there. It was a big hill with concrete road but it’s been tough with the rental bikes. Anyway it is recommended to check out the lighthouse - of course you can walk there as well.
Lucas D — Google review
The lighthouse! This is the symbol! and stands symbolically for the island Hiddensee. From here you will have a 360 degree view. Southern is the island Hiddensee itself with the four villages Grieben, Kloster, Vitte and Neuendorf. Northern/western the baltic sea, at good weather consists you may see the Swedish coast. Direction eastern you will see Rügen. This is definitely a place to be, even you’ll be there for only one day.
Michael S — Google review
It’s early July when we visit so it’s advisable to bring hat/cap, sun block if you visit in summer time. *Cruise Ride: park and take the Bahn that will drop you at the cruise centre, it’s easier and the place tends to be busy. Upon arrival, enjoy the walking trial before we arrive at the Leuchtturm which was well maintained, we didn’t pay to climb the light house but it was already good able to see it from outside... we even met a couple with 2 kids that sailed (and live on board) from Netherlands! how cool is that 😎 We also stopped for coffee & souvenir shopping near the cruise centre before taking the return cruise.
Jamie S — Google review
The light house is currently fixing. But it is a nice place to see the view

Beautiful view point with ligthouse. Worth going up as the view is stunning
Maja — Google review
I brought my bike over on the ferry and my wife rented one near the drop-off point before we rode north to see the lighthouse and continuing on to see the rest of the island. It was easy to get to the top and the views from up there were amazing. Don't miss it!!!
Stan S — Google review
The stairs up here were very steep at the top, and there were certainly enough people even in July already. While I didn't exactly linger, the view is easily worth 3 euros even with a fear of heights.

Gorch Fock I

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Gorch Fock I is a restored and seaworthy rigged sailing ship that serves as a floating museum and events venue. Launched in 1933, it has a rich history as a sail training ship for German naval forces and later used by the Soviet Navy until 1990. Now permanently anchored in Stralsund's harbor, visitors can board the impressive old vessel to explore its storied past.
I visited quite early in the day before going for a walk along the waterfront. 4 euro entry fee per person was very much worth it. The staff were friendly and informative. The information was interesting and clear and easy to read. My travel buddy Yoshi enjoyed looking around ;)
Hollee G — Google review
The three-masted Gorch Fock I is an impressive sight, and standing on its deck felt like stepping into another era. The nearby harbor promenade and the view of the sea strait made the experience even more special. Stralsund’s waterfront is peaceful yet lively – the scent of the sea and the charm of the old harbor buildings made the visit truly unforgettable.
Tamás F — Google review
Historically interesting. Some interesting exhibits but not many. It’s more about the vessel itself.
Zygmunt K — Google review
Worth a visit if you are in Stralsund. Interesting to see the original boat with original equipment from the second world war. 5€ per adult. Can be seen in 15 minutes (not very big). Not suitable for people with physical disabilities. Woman at the register was pretty unpolite. We asked if it's a tour or if we can walk around freely and she replied "well you know how to read right?"

Really interesting attraction! A must-see in Stralsund. Unfortunately several parts of the ship are under renovation so we didn’t get to visit them... but other than that it was worthwhile.

OZEANEUM Stralsund GmbH is a modern marine museum located in Stralsund, focusing on the Baltic and North Seas. It was voted European Museum of the Year in 2010 and attracts over half a million visitors annually. The interactive exhibition offers educational experiences suitable for children, featuring display boards, models, and live fish in various aquariums. The aquarium also provides scenic views of the Old Town and St. Nicholas Church from its location on the harbor.
Went there around 80 minutes before closing, and I had just enough time to go through everything in the museum. I paid 14 euros for my ticket, and what I got for that price was justified. Would recommend!
Axel N — Google review
I recommend it, very modern, well structured and easy to visit. If you want to see it in detail, it is ideal to allocate about 2-3 hours. The adult ticket costs 18 euros, for those aged between 17-24 a discount of 4 euros is applied. It is also beautiful outside.

Very nice place for both kids and adults. Very well organized with a wide variety of different exhibitions. It takes 2-3 hours to see the whole place.

The oceanarium is an incredibly educational place. The whole family was delighted with it. You can admire live animal specimens there, as well as learn interesting facts about the Baltic Sea. The entrance fee is not low, but it's worth it.

Very interesting place with amazing aquariums and well preserved specimens. Here you can learn many interesting facts about animals and nature. Great place for kids.
Olga D — Google review
It's a BIG museum with lots to learn about the earth and its oceans. The audio guide is very thorough with an option to read instead of listen and audodescription for the visually impaired. And the fishes are obviously beautiful.
Laurien S — Google review
It’s a nice aquarium. On a rainy day in the summer it’s of course pretty crowded and also not great regarding air ventilation ;-) It took us two hours, but we didn’t read through everything.
Conny F — Google review
For a modern oceanarium I would expect more larger aquariums and less boring exhibitions. No interactive elements. A bit disappointing.

It was a great experience! Amazing artwork, very interesting displays and modern design perfectly executed with timeless knowledge. I wish more people would come here and learn how important the oceans are to humans and share this passion with others. Highly recommended

One of the best museums I’ve been to. It is modern, and the design of the whole exhibition and museum is very interactive and inclusive.

The entire museum is in an old church. This probably the best use of a church that I have ever seen. There are a large amount of exhibits and just when you think it's over they have an impressive exibit of aquariums in the basement. I suggest this highly the price is extremely reasonable for the amount of things to see.

Located on the seaside, the Ozeaneum is a modern, spacious museum building. It displays all things related to fish, whales, fishery, and ocean research, and also has some nice live fish swimming around in huge aquariums. The whale-room is the coolest. It also houses a shop to buy souvenirs, and a café.

Amazingly good and well being feelings all over
Katrin V — Google review
The entrance fees are overpriced considering the place and the offered services. Even the elevator was off duty in order to safe electricity costs. I would guess a community tried to get saturated by highlighting their old trees. By the way the time line of the last 1000 yrs. is very narrow minded set up. While the beginning of WWII was marked the Maunder minimum (small ice age) causing narrow tree rings was ignored. So all in all it wast of my time to visit this place. Go visit Kummerower Lake, rent a boat and support the locals by having a dinner at the lake!

There is almost nothing to see underwater besides a few jellyfish and you aren't even that deep, just beneath the surface. They showed a short movie in "3D" wich was okay but the quality of the 3D was horrible. And all that for the price of 9 Euros. Don't do it, spare yourself the disappointment.

(Translated by Google) We were on the 12:00 p.m. tour on May 28, 2024, registered the day before and went to the facility in a group of 5. Our guide, Mr. Wenzel, showed us the great object with his usual enthusiasm. He was happy to answer any question and explained all the objects and the rooms with a lot of knowledge and deep insights. The one-hour tour turned into 1 3/4 hours and if he hadn't had a follow-up appointment, the conversation would certainly have continued. I can recommend this unique place for people who are interested in recent history and want to look at a unique building that is still kept secret to this day. Many thanks to Mr. Wenzel for the exciting tour. I'm currently in the process of answering the questions that came up afterwards with the book I bought in the bunker.

It is a private museum and the owner is putting all his efforts in it. We like the tour and the "show" of the ower in the bunker. The cashier was super friendly. A little bit prices but for people who are interested in this subject and the cold war - you should visit it!
Dennis V — Google review
Was 2 min late past the guy on the path. He saw where we were going and didn't bother to talk to us(.had called him before and told him we where running late maybe a few min. Also phone number on internet was not able to get him on that.) I called him and he was not friendly. I guess He did not need the money!

Pancio D — Google review
(Translated by Google) I was there once a few years ago and I liked it better then than I do now. It seems to me that the owner is very bitter about the Corona period. The tour was quickly completed within an hour, and it was also very limited. You couldn't see much anymore because most of the bulkheads were closed. The history of the bunker was well explained by Mr. Wenzel. But for €25 entry without the tickets and a total ban on taking photos inside the bunker, that's not possible. It's actually a shame that Mr. Wenzel destroys his life's dream in this way. Especially since before Corona there were a few nice employees who ran things very well. And now this bunker is for sale!

(Translated by Google) So I can highly recommend it if you want to be catapulted back in time and if you don't complain when the sound gets a bit rough, this is the right place for you. We were there before the Corona period and I was very impressed with how the owner played his role there. At first I found it took some getting used to but in the end it all came together well. And I personally remember the owner positively. I think it's a shame that there are so many negative reviews here. I would watch it again.

(Translated by Google) The three of us wanted to visit the bunker today. As a precaution, we called the day before and asked. He said rather unfriendly on the phone that a tour is only possible for groups of 4 people or more, but that we can find a solution and come over. No sooner said than done, we were at the bunker on time at 12, unfortunately we couldn't conjure up a fourth person. Now he wanted to sell us three tickets for the normal 25 euros, plus his book for 25 euros (which would otherwise cost 18 euros) otherwise he wouldn't go on the tour. He also insisted on wearing a mask. Since masks are no longer required anywhere, we didn't have any on hand. He now wanted to foist this on us with an additional 2 euros per mask. This whole communication was very unfriendly, but when we told him that we didn't like this solution, he turned around and insulted us. By next year the bunker would no longer exist. When asked why: “because you don’t pay”. Well, old, nasty and cranky man, then not, there are other bunkers.

(Translated by Google) We took part in the 12 o'clock tour today (Saturday). About an hour for €25 per person. Since many of the reviews here are a bit too negative, we would like to add ours too. The bunker is very interesting and the stories associated with it are exciting. The tour is basically well done, but some of the technology is currently broken, which is why there are only the guide's stories. That's a bit of a shame, but not his fault. It is definitely recommended to think about questions in advance. Otherwise you won't think of any in the heat of the moment. Here and there there were rooms that we would have liked to take a look at, for example the canteen or the bedrooms, but the technology rooms can be viewed in their entirety. There are a lot of negative reports about the owner and manager here. That's a bit unfair. Yes, it is hearty and you have to warm it up for 10 minutes, but adults should be able to do that. Conclusion: We liked it. Small deductions in the B grade, hence 4 out of 5 stars. Ps. Masks are no longer mandatory for visitors. Ps. Masken sind für Besucher keine Pflicht mehr.

(Translated by Google) The burgers may be made with organic meat, but they're not worth it! The BBQ burger consisted of a limp bun/bun, a huge lettuce leaf, almost unchewable onion rings (crispy yes, but not hard and dry and no onion taste whatsoever) and the bacon and a very dry pattie! No tomato, no cucumber, just as described on the menu. And don't forget the slice of cheese?! Simply boring, bad and too expensive! The veggie burger was just as bland! We tried it once, but that was it. There are far better burgers for much cheaper! The coleslaw tastes like the one from Aldi or Lidl from the big bucket! Price performance absolutely not suitable!

(Translated by Google) 20240710 A very special experience – absolutely recommended! We have been spending our vacation in Zingst every year since 2012 and have driven past the “Ostsee-Schmuck” shop in Ribnitz-Damgarten countless times over the years - without ever looking inside. On July 10, 2024 the time had finally come and we took the time to visit the store. And we were really pleasantly surprised! The exhibition is very attractively designed and offers a wide variety of beautiful pieces of jewelry - many of which are of course made from the “gold of the north”, amber. The exhibits range from simple, elegant pieces to elaborately crafted and correspondingly high-priced unique pieces. It's a real pleasure to stroll through the showcases and marvel at all the creative designs. We were particularly impressed by the foam factory: There you could see live how amber is processed and transformed into unique jewelry - a real highlight, not just for jewelry lovers! The staff was consistently friendly, courteous and very professional. We felt well advised and welcomed – that is no longer a given these days. Of course, we didn't want to leave empty-handed, so my wife was allowed to choose a beautiful pair of earrings - a very special souvenir of the trip. Conclusion: Anyone who is traveling in the region and is interested in amber, jewelry or simply beautiful craftsmanship should definitely plan a visit to “Ostsee-Schmuck”. It's worth it! (Original) 20240710 Ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis – absolut empfehlenswert!

What a wonderful place to get away from daily life. I'm sure this place is even better during summer, especially the grounds. Still, this a very relaxing experience in winter, too. We dined there recently and had a fantastic meal, and especially the service. Portions were far from adequate (typical gourmet) but were nevertheless very good. Most disappointing was being offered the bill with a warning that we would need to pay the credit card charges by the bank ourselves if we decided on credit card, which is truly strange for such an establishment, (though were in "provincial Germany", sad but true, this is what you get).

Beautiful hotel with top class restaurant, very friendly and well trained staff. They understand how to make guests feel welcome and at ease. Only point of criticism is the hassle logging into the wifi and the generally poor wifi connectivity.

I was only walking outside the hotel, to get a view of the history and the sourroundings. The Schlosshotel is superb and the prices for a room are okay for such a place. I read that it was one time the best holtel in germany. By the way the price for the hotelrestaurant are really not too high.

Karl's Adventure Village Rövershagen is a vibrant amusement park set on a strawberry farm, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor rides and attractions with a rural theme. Founded in 1921, this family-owned entertainment park features live demonstrations of strawberry jam making, sausage production, and cookie baking. Visitors can enjoy the whimsical Icesculpture World and sweet manufacture experiences reminiscent of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' The village also hosts events such as farmer's markets.
Amazing place to spend quality time with kids. Many extra costs inside if you decide to buy something (what kids always want to do), we also did ceramic painting, staff not friendly, but the result was amazing. Definitely visiting again.

Wonderful experience there. An ideal place for a day tour (with family, child, friends). Lots of variety of collections, colors, activities. I loved many of their products, designs! Also, there are a lot of tester foods, that was useful for me to decide if I'll buy it or not. Again, good experiences, so recommended.

Karls Erdbeerhof Rövershagen is an amazing place and truly a one-stop destination for the whole family. Whether you’re visiting with kids or adults, everyone will find something to enjoy. The entire theme revolves around strawberries, from delicious treats to unique decor that makes the atmosphere both charming and fun. There are countless stations where you can sample different strawberry jams and even watch how some products are made. The souvenir shops are full of creative, strawberry-inspired items that make for perfect gifts or keepsakes. One of the major highlights is the impressive Teekanne installation, proudly featured in the Guinness World Records — a fun surprise that adds to the village's playful spirit.Overall, Karls Erdbeerhof Rövershagen offers a delightful mix of entertainment, food, and creativity. It’s a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

Toboggan run and monkey forest Malchow GmbH

Summer toboggan run
Sights & Landmarks
Wooded visitor center home to a troop of barbary macaques, with play areas & summer toboggan runs.
The Monkey Park is a fantastic place to visit with the whole family. You can watch the monkeys up close in a natural environment. The animals are active, friendly, and bring lots of positive emotions. The park is well-maintained, clean, and surrounded by greenery, with convenient walking paths and rest areas. It’s a great spot to spend time, enjoy yourself, and learn more about the animal world. Highly recommended!
Artem M — Google review
It was a lovely experience to see all those monkeys free with my family. Have to say that humans are always trying to get a better pics from the newborn baby was just not nice to see. I was waiting that a ranger or someone from the staff would come and remind the humans to behave but nothing... The monkey's had a little fight over food visitors gave them but no staff showed up and people like us felt pretty uncomfortable because of the wild monkeys.... otherwise a wonderful experience
Nicole Z — Google review
Nice place to bring your picnic. Have fun on the slide and enjoy the Forrest with the monkeys.

very nice toboggan run, staff is very friendly, apparently we're lucky that it wasn't as crowded as usual, it's a long enough ride to enjoy the slopes even in rainy weather. Would definitely recommend. Kids 8 and older can go by themselves.

Great stop off on the way to Schwerin. Loads of monkeys in the forest and the toboggan run was great fun
Neil S — Google review
Pretty short run but fun. Affordable tickets. Monkeys were fun. Not cheeky or aggressive at all. You are not allowed to touch or feed the monkeys. Thus they will not bother you and try to steal anything.
Felix E — Google review
Went there for an afternoon with the kids, they had fun watching and feeding the monkeys. Afterwards they were sliding down the toboggan run. Waiting times at the run was about 15 to 20 minutes that day, so that a little downside but all in all we had a fun day. Nothing to elaborate in general but something to do when kids are bored.

St. Mary's Church, Rostock

Mentioned on

Evangelical church
Sights & Landmarks
St. Mary's Church, also known as Marienkirche, is a significant landmark in Rostock, Germany. This Gothic church, dating back to the 13th century, boasts an array of treasures within its ancient brick walls. Visitors can marvel at the artfully crafted wooden altar, a massive stained glass window depicting The Day of Judgement, a Renaissance pulpit from 1574, and a bronze Baptismal font from 1290.
Beautiful church with stunning exterior as well as interior. It really feels like this church shows how strong Rostock was back in the days. If you are a student, you only pay 2 euros for the entrance fee. It’s a neat church overall, but the astrological clock inside is amazing. It really makes you wonder how people of the past could come up with the idea of creating it.
Ji L — Google review
St. Mary's Church is the largest church in Rostock, Germany. I love its red brick Gothic architecture! It really stands out from all angles in the city!! I was looking forward to seeing its astronomical clock that I had heard about. Unfortunately, even though it said it was supposed to be open on the website, sadly, it wasn't. We walked around the entire building several times to try to find an open door, but no luck.
How L — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking and fascinating! We really enjoyed getting to look around and see the beautiful stained glass windows and the incredible grandfather clock!
Sarah R — Google review
Fantastic church there is a small fee to enter , but it is well worth it. If you can get there for around midday to see the medieval clock play it is well worth it (can be found behind the altar) . There are lots of tombs and an amazingly decorated organ. Well worth a visit

Amazing Medieval Astronomical clock still in working order! Make sure you're there for 12 noon clock melody and moving Saints.
Phil O — Google review
Came here to Costal Germany: St. Mary's Church (Marienkirche), Rostock Location: The church is located in the city center (Stadtmitte) of Rostock. Address: Its address is typically listed as Bei der Marienkirche 3, 18055 Rostock, Germany. It is easily recognizable by its towering, massive brick structure and the specific color pattern on the tower (alternating dark/green-glazed and red unglazed bricks, particularly visible on the sides of the transept and tower), which is characteristic of the building's various construction phases. The St. Mary's Church is famous for being the largest church in Rostock and for housing a magnificent, functional medieval astronomical clock dating from 1472.
George F — Google review
This church is very special! Highly recommended. There are some decorations related to the characteristics of this city: harbour. In addition, the astronomical clock is also amazing. It has worked for more than 500 years and provides a lot of calendar/astronomical information. I like this clock more than the one in Prague. After visiting this church, I donated some money because I hope that anything in church can be maintained in a good condition.

Excellent place for the family! Consider buying tickets in advance online, it will save you a couple of euros and lots of time in the queue. The bistro is mediocre and very slow but there are lots of possibilities to make a picnic with whatever you took from home.

Unique park, the animals have lots of space to wander freely, there are very creative informative tools for kids and adult visitors, some of which are interactive too… unfortunately the aquarium tunnel was closed due to Corona restrictions, which was a big disappointment, however the kids enjoyed the visit so much!

The Warnemünde Lighthouse, a 19th-century beacon constructed with gleaming white glazed bricks, stands at a height of 31 meters. It offers stunning panoramic views of the picturesque village of Warnemünde, the Baltic Sea, and the pristine beach. Serving as both a navigational aid for ships and an iconic symbol of the seaside resort, this historic lighthouse has been guiding vessels since its construction in 1898.
Great place. You can climb the lighthouse and get great views. The beaches in the area are great. There is some fabulous public sculpture in the area too. The famous teapot building is close by.

We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the stops was Warnemunde. We walked around the town self guided using google maps. The town is rather small so it did not take long to see it all. The lighthouse is in a busy part of town on the dock area. It was easy to get to the lighthouse for an up close view. Built in 1898 and very much a part of the town.

The Warnemünde Lighthouse, a striking landmark in Rostock, Germany, stands tall at 37 meters on the Unterwarnow estuary. Erected in 1898 with white glazed bricks, it offers panoramic views from its two galleries. Once operated by a keeper, it's now automated, guiding ships with its light visible for 20 nautical miles.
