Plitvice Lakes National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a stunning destination in the heart of Croatia, known for its picturesque lakes, alpine forests, waterfalls, and caves. It's an ideal place for romantic getaways or family adventures. Couples can enjoy enchanting lookouts, romantic walks along the trails with the soothing sounds of waterfalls, and a stay at Jezero Hotel followed by a romantic dinner at Licka Kuca restaurant.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of pure, awe-inspiring beauty. The 16 lakes, connected by countless waterfalls and cascades in stunning turquoise-blue hues, are a true paradise. Walking on the wooden boardwalks allows you to get close to the water, feel the mist of the falls and see almost to the bottom of the lakes. It's an absolute must-do for any nature lover. Important points on the trails and walking conditions: The park offers a variety of routes (like C, H, F, E etc.) that combine walking, a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, and use of a shuttle. Most of the walking paths and boardwalks are very narrow, slippery, and sometimes uneven, and the park gets extremely crowded, therefore in my opinion the trails are not suitable for baby strollers or wheelchairs, also - access is difficult for people with walking difficulties or seniors who require stability. Recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip. Tickets: Recommended to book tickets online in advance for a specific time slot and entrance (1 or 2), as the daily visitor capacity is limited and tickets sell out quickly. It's best to arrive as early as possible (right at opening time) to avoid the biggest crowds. Paid parking is available at both entrances (make sure to park at the entrance for which you bought your ticket). Along the paths, there are several rest points with WCs and some places to buy food, but it's a bit pricey, so you can bring some water, sandwiches, or snacks. In summary, this is an amazing natural wonder that is worth every effort.

Wow! Fantastic experience! You could easily spend the whole day at the park. There are number of trails leading around the lakes and under the waterfalls. Every part of it looks do beautiful. The water is extremely clean and the colours vary from light blue to turquoise green. It’s a must go destination in Croatia
Alice K — Google review
Absolutely stunning nature, I felt like I was wandering through the loveliest dream. Aside from the obvious, the forest itself is incredibly beautiful, soft, nurturing, with ivy covered trees, moss adorned rocks, and colorful leaves blanketing the forest floor. I highly recommend coming in mid to late October for the fall foliage, it imbues a mystical quality to this already enchanted place.
Chantal L — Google review
Very beautiful park and easy to access. We was lucky to get 2 versions of the scenery. We came late on day 1 (17 Nov), so we decided to revisit in the next day. There was significant snow and the scenery had changed. Although we couldn't go to your lakes due to the weather, the scenery in lower lakes was fantastic.
Gahwin R — Google review
Such a beautiful serene environment, walking on the trails did get a bit busy at times but once you're in its amazing to see little pockets of natural beauty, clear waters, different varieties of fish, plants and many jaw dropping waterfalls, too many to count. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Croatia.
A W — Google review
This park is really fantastic. We were here for two days. Walked about 30 km. Some areas quite busy (great waterfall). If possible i recommend an early start to avoid the tourists coming in by busloads. The lakes are great and everything is remarkably clean. We had a great time, highlight of our trip to Croatia.
M.pepers — Google review
It's no wonder the Plitvice Lakes are called Croatia's main attraction. It's a vast and incredibly beautiful national park. We visited in the summer, so everything was blooming and green. The park's highlight is the many waterfalls it has. Here, the waterfalls resemble delicate lace, an exquisite interplay of streams and intertwining water flows - there waterfalls upon waterfalls. If you're in Croatia, don't miss the opportunity to admire this spectacle! Some of the hiking trails will easily last a few hours, so prepare to spend a full day here.
Mat B — Google review
Great planning in the national park, with bus and boat inclusive with the ticket which is unbelievable at this kind of world-famous tourist spot. Experienced route H, spent around 5 hours and quite easy to walk, thanks for the bus taking us uphill and start at the top with over 80% of the journey are downhill. Fall season should be promoted more, the view is amazing, weather is comfortable but obviously there are not many visitors during Oct.

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The Euphrasian Basilica, a 6th-century Byzantine-style Episcopal basilica complex, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved early Christian architecture and art. Named after the sponsoring bishop Euphrasius, this masterpiece of Byzantine art and architecture features stunning mosaics, frescoes, and intricate carvings. Its historical significance has put Porec on the tourist map as one of Croatia's most visited destinations.
Visited during the morning and it was really beautiful with no one around. This 6th-century UNESCO World Heritage site is a stunning example of early Byzantine architecture. The basilica's intricate mosaics, particularly in the apse, are among the finest in the world, depicting biblical scenes with extraordinary detail and vibrant colors. The basilica has been a place of Christian worship for over 1,500 years, making it not only an artistic marvel but also a site of deep historical and religious significance. Half price for students. Nice view of the sea from the walls too.

This was an amazing experience as you step through time from the Romans to the Byzantine period and all the way through the 16th century to today. It is an experience not to be missed. You feel directly in touch with history and the sense of the centuries in the church is palatable, making it a unique experience in today’s modern fast-paced life. I cannot recommend a visit to Porec anf the Basilica enough. I would go again.
Ranjith L — Google review
We visited Poreč, a 2,000-year old Croatian city on the Istrian Peninsula influenced by Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian rule. It is known for its historic UNESCO World Heritage site, the Euphrasian Basilica complex, dating back to the 6th century. The complex showcases an amazing collection of mosaics housed in Byzantine-influenced architecture.
Francine L — Google review
Built in the 6th century, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the best-preserved examples of Byzantine art, this basilica is a must-visit.
Evren B — Google review
One of the oldest Basilica in the world. For the most part retained its original shape. The mosaic floor done in the 4th century can be seen. Just very fascinating! Worth of the visit!
Barbara S — Google review
The Euphrasian Basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important examples of early Byzantine architecture in the Mediterranean. The tall, simple Romanesque-style bell tower seen in the photo is separate from the main basilica structure and can be accessed from a side street within the old town.
G W — Google review
Price of the tour is 10 euros and they were well spent.
Darko J — Google review
This Basilica is a very worthwhile visit if you are visiting Porec.

This was the first place we had food at in Porec. Very welcoming service, friendly, and delicious food. We had bruschetta and salads - it was lovely, fresh, and beautifully presented. The tartufata was amazing. Extra thanks to the waiter who was kind and made us feel very welcome!

This place is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm, inviting atmosphere—think cozy lighting, stylish decor, and just the right balance of lively energy and intimate charm. Whether you're on a date, catching up with friends, or enjoying a solo glass, it’s the perfect setting. The owner has clearly poured passion into every detail, curating a fantastic selection of wines that caters to both casual sippers and connoisseurs. I appreciated the thoughtful recommendations, including a few off-menu highlights that made the experience feel personalized. Speaking of service, the staff truly shines—knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely friendly and funny. They made me feel welcome without being overbearing, and their enthusiasm for the drinks and the food added to the fun. If you’re looking for great vibes, top-tier drinks, and a team that treats you like family, this is the spot. Can’t wait to come back!

I want to stay here forever 🥲the atmosphere brings you back to your youngest years when your head never hurts after wine and your knees never hurt after dancing. Now I’m seriously considering moving to Poreč for retirement so I could visit Old Town every day 😄
Yuliia M — Google review
Unbelievably delicious! Great service! We also bought the truffle oil and also the olive oil, which you can taste for free during your lunch or dinner! The friendly staff speaks German and English fluently and it was just cozy!
Alireza D — Google review
Very lively place with a lot of people, definitely the right place if you want to feel like you are in the middle of a lively scene. Food was good and the service was amazing. The only downside is that I would not recommend you to order the margaritas because they are not that good.
Daniel D — Google review
Great atmosphere, the salami on the plate is varied and very good, friendly waiters. This whole neighborhood with four bars (it doesn't really matter which one you go to ), which practically touch each other, gives this area a special feeling - I can highly recommend a visit...
Erik K — Google review
The wine was fine and the bruschetta was decent. The place has a nice vibe, but nothing really stood out. An average experience overall.
Ida E — Google review
Perfect place in old town. The best wine and food plate. Traditional Istrian prosciutto 👌🏻 value for money is Great. Staff is friendly. I will definitely go back. Recommend to everyone.

Jama - Grotta Baredine

Mentioned on
2 lists
Nature & Parks
Park
Caverns & Caves
Jama - Grotta Baredine, located in Istria, Croatia, has been open to visitors since 1995. This karst cave offers guided tours through its 132-meter deep stalactite formations and five impressive halls. The cave is home to the human fish, a unique species endemic to the area. Visitors can also enjoy vintage tractor and pottery exhibits as well as an eatery surrounded by olive trees and a vineyard.
Nice cave to visit with all the family. The guides are really gentle and they provide a lot of interesting information about the site, also in a funny way for children too. We spent there about 2 hours. Next to the entrance there is also a good bar that serves coffee, drinks in general and sandwiches. The parking is for free, so you have to pay only for the guided tour.
Luca P — Google review
Very interesting cave that goes down 60 meters. Lots of stalagmites, stalactites, columns and other mineral formed cave features. The guide was very easy to understand and funny. The highlight was the human fish (Olm/aquatic salamander) at the bottom. I was able to get some great pictures of it. There is plenty of free parking and it was easy to get to from Rovinj by car. There is also a cave museum as part of the entry and a café for food and drinks. Highly recommend.
Chris Y — Google review
Small, but beautiful. If you're in the area, great opportunity to take some very nice photos and see proteus in person. The girl at the cash register was wonderful, going above and beyond to orchestrate our visit (2 adults with a big dog that couldn't enter) and the formation of groups so that we can go one after the other with no waiting time nor overlap, so one person was with the dog while the other was in the cave, and neither had to wait for too long. My guide (Ana) was embodiment of patience and calm, effortlessly switching between languages and answering all the extra questions. Lighting showcases the best of mineral formations (a lamp strategically placed behind one of "elephant's ears", for example, shows a streak of red pigment within the otherwise milky white mineral). Steep and wet, not good for people on wobbly legs. Temperature inside the first 3 or 4 rooms actually a bit higher than the advertised 14°C; on a hot day it felt refreshing rather than cold. Plenty of parking under the shade of trees and large covered sitting area. Bar right next to the cave entrance, serves good coffee and real homemade lemonade.
Lucija Š — Google review
Very fascinating inside view of a very deep cave close to Poreč. The guide takes you deep down in the cave where you can even see an old. A blind axleottle like animal that lives only in the deep caves of this area.
Ved R — Google review
Grotto Baredine is a cave full of stagmites and stalactites. To enter the cave you need to join a guided tour, so probably worth checking in advance for the times of tours in your preferred language. There are approximately 270 steps down into the cave as you move through each of the five chambers with your guide. The cave is pretty wide, but some of the steps/staircases are steep and wet so care should be taken. At the bottom of the cave live two olm salamanders. Worth visiting.
Nick — Google review
Great and funny guided tour, not too heavy, not exausting, especially in combination with old tractor exibition and other one, geological exibition at the same place. Super food and drink and souveneer offers, not expensive at all. Nice nature all around and some qnimals for kids too.
Igor V — Google review
Nice cave. Not the biggest one but worth visiting. The queue for the tickets can be 30 mins long and then you can wait 2h before you go inside, but they give you exact time. You can visit tractor museum in the mean time.

Experience the thrill of zip lining over the stunning Pazin Cave, offering dramatic views of the town of Pazin. The zipline adventure takes you through the wooded cliffs and offers a unique perspective of one of Istria's most fascinating natural phenomena. The ride consists of four ziplines, with two different routes to choose from - one shorter and the other longer and faster. You can reach speeds of around 45km/h depending on your weight.
It was amazing! From the very first contact through email to the experience itself: everything was well organised and they did it with a smile. My wife and I had a blast going down the zipline. Would recommend it to anybody. Thanks again for the awesome experience!
Nick V — Google review
Great experience for young and 'old'. Well organised and great team of people. Large parking next to it at the designated adress of this experience. You just need to drive down on the LEFT side of the building. We went at opening around 10 o'clock. By 11.30 it was getting crowded and parking almost full. When paying, you are designated to a group, which also estimates the time it will be your turn. Next, the teamleaders call your group in order to equip and secure you. Enjoy and thrust the professionals 👍
Christof W — Google review
Fun and adrenaline! Exceeded our expectations. Two ziplines over the Pazin cave, amazing view as you go over it. 5 min walk back to the starting point. Fantastic team! Friendly and welcoming staff. Short waiting times and instructions in multiple languages. Staff handles everything, ensuring a safe ride for everyone. Equipment looked brand new and braking is adjusted based on your weight for a smooth landing. Parking available behind the hotel. Recommended!
Florian X — Google review
Wow! It's amazing. You are flying 100 meters over a valley. The staff was kind the waiting is short.

It was an interesting experience. I arrived late, so I only had time to join the zip line. You can book in advance to take part in other exciting activities.

Great experience. Very safe. Professional personell so you don't have fear of anything bad could happen. :) These days is very crowded becsuse of tourists. So if you can choose your time better come at the beginning of september. We had to wait 2 hours for our turn.

Chiavalon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Mentioned on
+4 other lists
Farm shop
Sights & Landmarks
Chiavalon Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced by the Chiavalon family, who have turned their 100-tree memorial into a thriving business with 9,300 trees over 35 hectares. Their state-of-the-art mill produces a portfolio of six extra virgin olive oils that are enjoyed on tables in Istria and exported to over 23 countries.
If you are in Istria, you should visit Chiavalon. We did the Taste Istria tasting and information session (all in English), and it was well, well worth the 30 euros (seriously - you get a ton of great information about olive oil production and quality, you get to taste all the oils, plus you get so much wine and a delicious Istrian spread of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and olives. What a steal!). We learned so much from Bosko - he is the best! He told us so much great information, plus he answered all of our questions. He even let us know how we could order the olive oil in the US. Thank you for a great afternoon, Bosko!!!!! Other random pros - they have plenty of parking on site, their bathrooms are very clean, they take credit cards, and the building is super cool and modern. Win/win all around!
Sara S — Google review
If you're ever in Istria and even remotely interested in food, agriculture, or just the art of living well — a visit to Chiavalon Olive Oil Estate is an absolute must. We had the pleasure of touring their beautiful olive groves and production facilities, and it was nothing short of inspiring. The experience was elevated by Boško, our guide, who was simply exemplary — warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about every detail of the olive oil-making process. He turned what could have been a standard tour into an engaging and memorable deep-dive into Istrian heritage and sustainable farming. The olive oil tasting was a true highlight — elegant, complex, and full of character. Each oil tells a story, and the Chiavalon team are true storytellers, producing world-class, award-winning oils with authenticity and pride. It’s not just olive oil; it’s liquid gold bottled with soul. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to understand why Chiavalon is considered among the best in the world — and after visiting, you won’t want to use anything else in your kitchen.
Nikola A — Google review
Truly an amazing experience - I can highly recommend it. I walked away with a lot more knowledge about olive oil and now I know how to determine which oils are not extra virgin olive oil. One of the owners introduced himself and welcomed us personally. All the staff were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The food served afterwards was delicious and came as a big surprise. The olive oil is superb and their shop is a delight. If you are ever in the area, don’t miss out on the opportunity to book an experience or if that’s not possible, pop into their shop.
Karen J — Google review
My visit to Chiavalon was an amazing experience. To see how an olive goes from a tree fruit to become one of the best olive oils in the world was interesting and valuable experience. Tasting of merely 4 hours fresh olive oil was phenomenal. Taste, smell, color...all was just pure nature at it's best. Chiavalon family and people working here are awesome, friendly and positive so interaction was effortless and nice. Other products in the shop were also really good and there is good variety of things you can get here. I mean, olive oil here is not cheap but you are definately sure you are buying top notch material. Keep up the good work Chiavalons!
Nikola T — Google review
We visited the Chiavalon olive oil mill and had a truly unforgettable experience! From the very beginning, we were amazed by the stunning location – olive groves, beautiful views of the surrounding nature, and a meticulously maintained estate that creates a perfect setting for all olive oil lovers. We were welcomed by an incredibly friendly and professional staff member named Boško, who led the tasting with great knowledge, passion, and warmth. Every step was carefully executed – from the engaging presentation of the production process to the top-quality tasting of their oils. The flavors exceeded all expectations – rich, balanced, and truly unique. The service was outstanding, and the experience was complete and indescribable – educational, culinary, and emotional all at once. It’s clear that Chiavalon makes no compromises when it comes to quality, and every visitor can feel that. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for something more than just a typical tasting – you’ll leave with a full heart, broadened horizons, and of course, top-quality olive oil in your bag.

Our visit to Chiavalon Olive Oil Estate was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism, but what truly elevated the experience was our guide, Boško. His passion for olive oil is palpable, and his knowledge of every detail—from the trees and soil to the bottling process—is simply beyond impressive. Boško guided us through the estate with a perfect balance of expertise and enthusiasm, making the world of premium olive oil both accessible and fascinating. He didn’t just show us how Chiavalon produces some of the finest olive oils in the world—he helped us understand why it matters. His storytelling brought the estate’s history and philosophy to life, and his deep respect for nature and craftsmanship was inspiring. The tasting itself was far beyond the classic olive oil experience. Boško walked us through the nuances of aroma, taste, and food pairing, offering insights that even seasoned food lovers would find enlightening. And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get any better, Boško surprised us with an olive oil cocktail—a truly inventive and delightful way to end the tour. It was a creative, flavorful twist that perfectly captured the spirit of Chiavalon: tradition meets innovation. If you’re looking for a world-class olive oil tasting with a personal touch, Chiavalon is a must-visit—and Boško is the guide who will make it unforgettable.

Excellent Olive Oil Tour & Tasting Experience at Chiavalon 🫒✨ We visited Chiavalon Extra Virgin Olive Oil and joined their guided tour, which was extremely informative and well-presented. We learned a lot about the production process, the passion behind their craft, and what makes their olive oils so unique and exceptional. After the tour, we enjoyed a fantastic tasting of their award-winning oils — a real highlight of our visit. Each variety had its own distinct character and incredible flavor. Of course, we couldn’t leave without stopping by the shop, where we picked up several bottles to take home. If you are in Istria, we can highly recommend visiting Chiavalon. It’s a wonderful experience combining knowledge, quality, and true hospitality.

Our guide gave us a mini olive oil tasting session. It was an incredibly interesting experience. The quality of the olive oil is unbelievable. We had seven types of oil and fresh tomato juice. There is a beautiful outside area, next to the olive oil garden. There is also a shop on the territory, selling olive oil (of course!), a range of jams, fig cakes, organic tomato juice, gift boxes and many more. Overall, great experience! Totally in love with the brand now.

Pula Arena, a massive Roman amphitheater in Pula, is a major tourist attraction. Built in 27 BC, it boasts well-preserved four side towers and three architectural orders. Visitors can explore the viewing seats where gladiator fights were once watched and then venture into the underground passages used by gladiators. The arena could accommodate up to 20,000 spectators and is one of the six largest and best-preserved Roman arenas still in existence today.
Absolutely breathtaking! The Pula Amphitheatre is one of the most impressive Roman monuments I've ever visited. It's incredibly well-preserved and offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient history. Walking through the arena and underground passages feels like stepping back in time. The views from the top are stunning, especially at sunset. Highly recommended for history lovers and anyone visiting Istria.

Gorgeous arena. A must see when in Pula. Beautiful weather helped to get some beautiful shots. More than 2000 years old and one of six biggest amphitheatres still standing.. breathtakingly stunning.

We visited Pula Arena and oh my God, it was incredible. It’s absolutely worth paying to go inside. Once you’re in, you can walk around everywhere and really feel like you’ve stepped back into ancient Roman times. The Arena is in very good condition - well preserved and majestic. It’s a gorgeous spot for photos, history lessons, or just soaking up atmosphere. What impressed me most is how immersive it feels - you can almost imagine the crowds, the spectacles, the echoes of the past. Also, I discovered that the Arena is sometimes used for theatre and opera performances, which must be fantastic in such a setting. The Pula Arena (also called the Pula Amphitheatre) was built between 27 BC and AD 68 and is one of the world’s six largest surviving Roman arenas. It’s especially remarkable because it’s the only Roman amphitheatre with all four side towers fully preserved.
Nataliia S — Google review
Pula is a small town, so seeing such a grandiose structure from the era of the great Roman Empire here is both unexpected and impressive. There are far fewer visitors than at the Roman Colosseum, so everyone has the unique opportunity to find a secluded spot, stand, and reflect on eternity, on how times, customs, and games have changed over the centuries. Don't miss the small but fascinating museum located in the arena's underground chambers—it's dedicated primarily to olive oil production in Istria.
Game G — Google review
What a site to see! Amazing roman arena built between 27–68 AD. Sixth largest in the world. There is a fee to enter and you are free to walk around once inside. There are QR codes that provide a self guided tour using your phone. Bring ear buds or headphones for the audio. This is one of the best preserved amphitheaters in the world. This is a must see.
Chris Y — Google review
This was a really amazing experience. So incredible to be inside such a huge part of history. The price is very affordable. This was our favorite thing that we did in Pula. I would highly recommend stopping by even if just for this experience!
Jessica F — Google review
It was easy to purchase tickets. We were able to just stroll around and look at the view of the amphitheatre. The souvenir shop also had lots of unique items that I haven’t seen at other places. Overall, it was a lovely experience for a Sunday afternoon.
Amelita L — Google review
The 8th largest Arena of the roman empire, the arena of Pula was only ever and exclusively used for gladiatorial fights and could not be flooded like its larger cousin in Rome. Sea fights were instead conducted directly in the bay, onlyeters from the arena itself. The outer walls are amazingly well preserved l, though half of the seating had been removed bu the venetians to be used for building material. Below the arena in the catacombs, there is an exhibition about roman life in istria, showing artefacts of a nearby olive oil manufactury. This place is an absolute must visit for history fans!

The Arch of the Sergii is an ancient Roman triumphal arch located in Pula, Croatia. Built between 29-27 BC, it originally served as a city gate and was dedicated to the powerful Sergii family who held influence over Pula for centuries. This well-preserved arch features intricate stone carvings and is larger than the Twin Gate.
Another beautiful piece of history which must be seen to be appreciated when you’re in Pula. Seems to be the main entrance essentially to the late ish night shops and restaurants/bars etc. Did have a nice jazz band situated here one night too!

Beautiful Roman arch in the heart of Pula. The Arch of the Sergii is a stunning reminder of the city's ancient past. Great spot for photos and easy to find while walking through the old town.

A Roman triumphal arch, beautifully intact through the ages. Its intricate carvings reflect the artistry of the Augustan era, while its enduring form stands as a testament to the power and legacy of ancient Rome.

The second best monument in Pula. Evidently old and still standing tall at the heart of the old city. Must see when you are in Pula and the road to the old city starts underneath the arch.

Beautiful Roman arch, and frames the entrance to the old streets full of tourists shops, nice restaurants and ice cream palours and then the temple of Augustus

The Arch of the Sergii is an incredible Roman monument that beautifully connects the past with the present. Standing beneath it, you can almost imagine ancient Pula as it once was. The carvings and structure are remarkably detailed, and it’s surrounded by charming streets, cafés, and local shops — making it a great spot to relax and explore. A true gem of Pula’s old town and an unmissable stop for anyone visiting the city!

Very nice park. 15 euro fee for one car for one day. Easy to buy a ticket online with car plate number. Be aware, very rocky roads. The park has access to numerous small and big beaches with their own charm. By car you can reach almost all the beaches with a small walk.

It was such a delight to our eyes and on a good weather day, would be a great place for snorkelling, kayaking or diving. When we went, the water was quite chill and we went around the sunset time… it was so beautiful and calming just to sit around watching the nature and listen to the waves.

Very nice place, clear blue water like in a movie, we arrived there with a scooter 👍 but the wasps kept following me 😭

Tourist Trap! More Cars than flowers, huge amounts of people, Waste all around in the nature. We really expected something else. Place would have the potential to be very nice, but with today’s concept it has little to do with a real nature park or reservoir - it is in fact an overcrowded beach area. Not worth the 15€ you have to pay. There are way better areas for botanical lovers and to go swimming - for free.

Jemima P — Google review
While nature is undoubtedly the highlight, the overall experience is undermined by a lack of environmental stewardship and overwhelming crowds. The Park appears to prioritize tourism revenue over preservation. Although cycling is promoted and rentals are readily available, there are no dedicated cycling paths. Cyclists are forced to share the same narrow, dusty roads with cars and pedestrians, creating a chaotic and unsafe environment. Vehicles are allowed to drive all the way to the cliffs, stirring up dust and adding noise and pollution to what should be a wild natural setting. Beaches are overcrowded and loud, far from the atmosphere one might expect in a safeguarded National Park. The result is a place that feels less like a protected natural area and more like a chaotic amusement park—an Instagram backdrop rather than a space for mindful, eco-conscious exploration. Kamenjak could be so much more if efforts were made to promote sustainable tourism: car restrictions, proper cycling infrastructure, limits on visitor numbers, and a focus on environmental education would go a long way. As it stands, it’s hard to fully appreciate the beauty when it's being overrun and exploited.

Sveti Ivan Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Sveti Ivan Beach is a secluded and stunning destination surrounded by lush vegetation, making it one of the most beautiful beaches globally. It offers unparalleled amenities such as a luxurious bar and restaurant. The turquoise waters and verdant wilderness of Krivica create an enchanting natural beauty that attracts many visitors each season. Accessible via a steep trail, this unspoiled beach is perfect for those who appreciate nature's power but requires visitors to bring their own supplies due to the lack of facilities.
Absolutely stunning beach! The beach is clean, made of pebble stones, the water is crystal clear, transparent, swimming in such an amazing place (you are looking at the town of Lubenice on the cliff is simpli breathtaking)! It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to reach the town of Lubenice after leaving the main road. The path is narrow, surrounded with stone wall. So pay attention. After entering the town a big parking is on the left and the beginning of the hiking trail (that is - path to the beach) is located near the coffee bar. The signs along the path are very well marked. It takes approximately 1 h downhill and 1.5 h uphill. The upper part of the bath is throughout the woods so if has a lot of shade but some parts are a bit slippery (stones) so hiking shoes or sneakers are obligatory!! A wonderful experience on Cres. I visited on a cloudy day, the water was freezing but the experience is unforgettable. ❤️
Diana D — Google review
Well, the beach is beautiful and not crowded. But, the path to the beach is through rocky road. About 40 minutes downhill which is allright but uphill is like one and a half hour and its not easy at all. Overall, I think that if you are not ready for one good cardio training, its not worth it.
Mario K — Google review
Lubenice on Cres is a small historic village situated 378 meters above sea level, offering stunning views of the Kvarner Bay and one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic. This pebble beach often appears on lists of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia and Europe. Reaching it via the steep path from the village itself is quite a challenge, which only adds to its appeal.
Kemal K — Google review
For those who enjoy hiking this beach is the best of both worlds. You get to hike + swim afterwards. We had so much fun, it was worth every step of the way. The water was so clear you can see every single pebble, the beach had maybe 10 people, so you have plenty of space. There were some boats but they didn't stay too long. Take good shoes for hiking, plenty of water, and if you don't want to sunburn, a lot of sunscreen and a tent or a parasol.
Marjana B — Google review
Awesome beach. Definitely worth a visit. Easiest way to get there is by boat. The hike from Lubenice is quite daunting. Make sure you bring a lot of water and food as there are no shops on the beach. The hike is quite difficult, not for children and mostly on sun. You can park your car in Lubenice. The remote location ensures that the beach is not crowded. Very good place for snorkelling. There is no shade on the beach so make sure you have some sun cover. The beach is made of large pebbles so bring some soft throw. We will definitely come back if we visit the island again.
Daniel H — Google review
Beautiful beach with an amazing 1 hour down and 2 hours up hike. If you are visiting it on foot, take comfortable shoes, and prepare yourself for a very long walk. Do not go on your flip flops, trekking shoes are ideal but you'll be fine with sneakers. Remember to take water, you'll need it. Specially on your way up. It was perhaps my best experience while in Cres.
Nuno S — Google review
Loved it!! The hike to the beach isn't very steep at the beginning but later on there are some parts where it is pretty steep and can get slippery. My gf and I wore regular sneakers and we found that to be sufficient (hiking shoes are not mandatory, and we some some folks in flip flops). It took us 45min in both directions, and for us it was probably easier to go up. As for the directions, the signs are always visible and are easy to follow. At the beach, there's shade in the boundary areas but it's limited, so have that in mind. Also, bring plenty of water and enough food since there are no shops or bars down there. You can refil your water in the town of Lubenice, once you're back up.
Matko R — Google review
Unspoiled nature (yet) that is highly appreciated by those who know never to underestimate the power of it! ••TAKE YOUR RUBBISH WITH YOU** Steep trail but worth every step once at the destination. Not for unfit and foolish “flip flop” hikers unless with unlimited health insurance! And yes, there are no facilities whatsoever at the beach WHICH IS PERFECT! That means, (if needed) take food, PLENTY OF WATER, and hats!!! It’s 1hr downhill and 1,5hrs uphill with many breaks! I admire those who do it faster :) UNMISSABLE PLACE and yes it’s FIT FOR CHILDREN if you are geared up properly-they will cherish this memory for a lifetime 💚

G D — Google review
Beautiful sandy beach in the island of Rab, infront is a small island that you can cross with a bike boat. There you can do some snorkeling with your sport camera 📸 The difference between Jesolo Italy and Lopar, the people in Lopar is not so friendly. The restaurant waitresses are friendly, but the little stores who selling swimming products; they never smile, they never want to ingage ( connect ) with the customers. Unfortune I think, they supposed to attract more tourists, but their behaviour I feel it "not polite". Do I want to go back to Lopar? Yes, I think besides that the stores owner or supermarket not friendly; Lopar is very beautiful ❤️ the food is good 👍 PS : The chairs and umbrella 🏖️ cost €19,50. You come to the beach, choose which one that you like to sit. Later on come a guy with little machine, you pay him, you'll get a receipt 🧾
Lovely A — Google review
Beautifull public beach, it's a pity that there are no rules on the beach so you pay for sunbeds and you see the tents people are putting in front of you so you don't have any sea view. The tents should be allowed in the back of the sunbeds not in front, it is disrespectful for the ones who pay them. In this way it looks like a Gypsy style beach.

Bear Sanctuary, Kuterevo

Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled in the northern Velebit mountains, Bear Sanctuary, Kuterevo is a haven for orphaned bears undergoing rehabilitation. The sanctuary, sustained by donations for over 20 years, offers a hippy commune vibe and ample free parking. Visitors can observe nine well-cared-for bears in spacious enclosures while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of the small village. Run entirely by volunteers, the sanctuary provides educational information and offers locally made products like jam, honey, cheese, and vegetables.
You don't have to be a bear fanatic like my partner to appreciate the fantastic work the lovely volunteers do to improve the lives of these majestic beasts. Anyone travelling down from northern Croatia to the Split area should pay a cost to support the work this charity does.

Adored our time at the Kuterevo Bear Sanctuary. The sanctuary is free to visit but please bring cash to donate!!! As a bear lover, it was amazing to see the beautiful bears in enclosures full of trees, bushes, and ponds to emulate their natural habitat. With a bit of patience and by exploring the various enclosures, we saw 4 bears. The drive to the sanctuary is long and winding but seeing the Croatian countryside was nice.

We went mid-day so most bears were somewear in the shade as it was super hot that day, but we still got to see a couple. Its a free to visit sactuary, but you can buy things in the giftshop or donate via PayPal - we bought small wooden bear statues. Would recommend to visit if you are in the region. They also have some birds to see.

Well worth a visit. I am always wary of "animal sanctuaries" but this is genuine and is 100% about the animals. We arrived in the heat of the day so initially didn't see much but returned after some food at the wonderful local hotel / restaurant Butina up the road when it had cooled a little. We then had the privilege of seeing the three younger bears emerge from their shady areas. It has a great vibe and friendly, welcoming volunteers. No entry fee but of course donations encouraged.

Fantastic experience for the whole family. We drove here from Plitvice. We stayed for about 1.5 hours (as we were also waiting for the feeding) TIPS for a more enjoyable experience. - go during feeding time. Evening one is at 5pm. We only saw one of the bears outside of the feeding. - it is free, but do buy yourself a souvenir to support them. Bring cash - the place is not wheelchair or stroller friendly, so plan accordingly

A little off the beaten path, but well worth the effort to visit. We saw 6 different bears in the habitat. It,was almost like seeing them in their home forest. It is a single-drop waterfall, cascading straight down from a high cliff in a dramatic and powerful flow. The sight of the water plunging in a single stream is truly awe-inspiring. In spring and after rainfall, the volume of water increases, creating an even more impressive spectacle. During winter, the frozen form offers a completely different yet equally stunning view. Visiting early in the morning rewards you with a magical atmosphere, as mist and sunlight create a dreamlike setting. It is the closest major attraction to Ticket Office 1, and certain trail routes allow you to reach a viewpoint right at the base of the waterfall.

Beautiful nature. We did circuit C and it took us 4 hours, moderately difficult terrain. The boat trip was also great. There are toilets and refreshment stands at the stations. Nice people everywhere.

The "Great Waterfall" in Croatia is called Veliki Slap and is the largest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park. It has a height of 78 meters and is fed by the Plitvica River. What a magnificent view!

The big waterfall looks perfect. If you are lucky, your impression will be completed by the small drops carried by the gentle wind from the waterfall that fall on the tourists. The impression would be better if there weren't so many tourists in this place, but I can understand why people stay here.

Dreamy, full-on nature immersive! Only downside: wooden path is very narrow plus at water level, so u can't enjoy the waterfall in absolute peace - making space for people passing all the time & the anxiety of your belongings (phone etc) falling in the lakes.

Absolutely gorgeous and an amazing experience to be here. This is the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park – 78 meters high situated at the very end of the Lower Lakes. It is fed by the waters of the Plitvica Potok River. Considered as the most beautiful one on the Lakes, this waterfall is also the highest one in the whole of Croatia. A must visit site, when in Croatia.

TOURIST TRAP. It’s an amazing natural site, however the queues are crazy and it seems they let too many people into the park. Expect 1 or 2 hour queue to catch the boat. We ended up not bothering and just walking. I’d recommend visiting but maybe come off season or get here super early. The time slot is just for entrance, not the boats.

B&B Lower Lakes is a part of the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park, which is known for its breathtaking natural beauty and numerous lakes. The park is vast, covering much more than just the 16 lakes it's famous for. Visitors can choose between flexible programs to explore the Upper and Lower Lakes, with two main entrances providing access to different sections of the park.
Remember the place, great service, and good rooms. Placed two minutes from the entering of Plitvice park, do not need a car to enter. Great breakfast. We loved it and recommended everyone to come and enjoy it. Thank you, Milica and Nicolas, the stay here was amazing because of your great service.

This beautiful hotel was very comfortable and easy to find. Check in was a breeze and the room was amazing. We had a wonderful balcony to sit on. The property also has a lot of outside sitting and a few swings. There is free parking on the property and they allowed us to leave our car there while we hiked in the park. The 3rd entrance to the park is a 5 Min walk away and very convenient. We were able to go the opposite way of most people visiting and had zero wait for the boat at the end of the day since everyone is heading the other way.

Location, location! This is an amazing place to stay with so many perks. The entrance to Plitvice Park is just a short walk away, and there are a couple of really nice restaurants within walking distance. Our host, Mirjana, was wonderful. Even though we arrived late, she was there to greet us and help us get settled. She asked what time we’d like breakfast, and had everything prepared and ready earlier than scheduled. The breakfast spread was incredible—so many options, including cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, jams, breads, and coffee. On top of that, she made us delicious eggs every morning. The room was spotless, and we had a beautiful balcony overlooking the backyard. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the fresh air, complete with Adirondack chairs, a swing, and tables. Parking was free and right at B&B. We couldn’t have asked for more. We would absolutely stay here again, and I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends and family.

Everything was absolutely excellent. The room was super big and had everything you need. Cleaning 10+++. A lot of attention to details, you could tell the accommodation was carefully and tastefully designed. The host was incredibly nice and she makes the best pancakes and scrambled eggs. So you can probably tell we also loved the breakfast. :) For the Park, you can buy online any Entrance ticket and the hour doesn't matter that much. There is an unofficial entrance very close by, where the Park staff will scan your tickets. We visited in September, but I recommend you to eat your morning breakfast, then grab some snacks for the rest of the day. There are very limited options on the resting areas on the routes. For dinner, we highly recommend to avoid the restaurants nearby the accommodation, take the car and drive for 15 minutes to Restaurant Degenija - better prices and much better quality food. I really hope all accommodations were like this. 💚

A friendly and relaxing accommodation amidst the park with clean and pleasant rooms, free WiFi, free parking, breakfast, freshly cooked dinner and more. Just three minutes walking from the park entrance. Everything is lovingly attended to by host Milica who makes you feel welcome from the very first moment and is a great help for planning your visit to the park as well. For my next visit, I will definitely come back here!

Modern, new and clean rooms. Amazing outdoor area. Very helpful and friendly staff who can help you with buying tickets and give you tips on what to see or where to eat in the area. If you are looking for a quiet place in Plitvice, this is the best place. The accommodation is approx. 400-500 meters from the unofficial entrance to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. However, you can only use this entrance with a valid ticket, which you must purchase in advance (24 hours) on the Plitvice Lakes website. We spent in this place 3 wonderful nights and had enough time to explore Plitvice lakes and taste local food

The Greeting to the Sun

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Greeting to the Sun is a modern artistic installation located in Zadar, consisting of 300 multi-layered glass plates arranged in a circle on the waterfront. Beneath these glass plates are solar modules that create a symbolic connection with nature through light. At sunset, the lighting elements within the circle illuminate and produce a mesmerizing light show synchronized with the waves and sounds of the nearby Sea Organs.
This piece surprised me not just visually but conceptually. It’s more than just lights—it’s a clever tribute to nature, astronomy, and renewable energy. The solar panels absorb sunlight all day and then use that stored energy to create a multi-colored light show after dark. It’s especially meaningful if you're into science, sustainability, or just interactive public art. Families, couples, solo travelers—everyone seemed to be drawn in. I loved the blend of technology, nature, and creativity. Great spot to relax, reflect, or just be present.
Madhushree M — Google review
Very interesting bit of technology with solar power allowing a light show on hundreds of panels. Given that it's right next to the equally fascinating sea organ you're bound to visit it when in Zadar. Great area for the sunset. Some reviewers complain about the number of people - but for my group, all the happy, smiling admirers was a plus not a minus. Definitely worth a visit.
Mat B — Google review
Greeting to the Sun in Zadar offers an absolutely mesmerizing experience that perfectly encapsulates the beauty of the Adriatic. As the day draws to a close, the sunset here is nothing short of spectacular, painting the sky with vibrant hues that reflect off the calm waters. You'll find yourself captivated by the silhouette of boats gently bobbing on the sea, adding to the picturesque scene. The magic truly comes alive as dusk settles in, and the Sea Organ begins its melodic performance, creating an ethereal soundtrack that perfectly complements the visual spectacle. And then there are the lights of the Greeting to the Sun itself – their simplicity is their genius, creating an interactive and enchanting display of the ground that is both playful and profound. It's a place where natural beauty, human ingenuity, and a sense of wonder seamlessly blend together. A must-visit for anyone in Zadar!

Visiting the Greeting to the Sun was one of the highlights of my trip to Zadar. This stunning installation, located right by the sea next to the famous Sea Organ, is an incredible blend of art, science, and nature. During the day, the large circular platform quietly absorbs sunlight, but as soon as the sun sets, it lights up with vibrant, colorful patterns powered by solar energy. It feels like the ground itself is alive with energy! What I loved most was how the installation connects you to the cosmos — with a solar calendar engraved on the ring and smaller discs representing the planets nearby. It’s not just beautiful but also educational. The nearby Sea Organ adds a magical soundtrack as the waves create peaceful, melodic sounds, making the whole experience truly multi-sensory. The location is perfect for an evening stroll along the waterfront, watching the sunset while enjoying this unique light show. Best of all, it’s completely free and open at all times. I highly recommend visiting just before dusk to catch the full effect. A perfect spot for photos, relaxation, and soaking in Zadar’s creative spirit!
Niroshan P — Google review
On the western extremity of Zadar’s old town, this modern installation is a remarkable addition to Zadar alongside its neighbour the Sea Organ. Both are designed by Nikola Bašić. It consists of 300 multi-layered glass solar panels in the shape of a circle of a 22-meter diameter. It collects the energy of the Sun and transforms it into the electricity, which is then used by and around the installation throughout the night. Wait for dusk to be over to fully appreciate the marvel.
Anil J — Google review
Monument dedicated to sun. It is work of Nikola Bašić, architect who made sea organ next to this monument. These two monuments symbolize comunication with nature. This one comunicates with light and organ comunicate with sound. In the evening the lights turn on and you can enjoy in lightshow.

Best rendezvous place for families and friends. This solar-powered attraction lights up at night with colorful LED displays. Beautiful and unique park.

Nestled along the stunning coastline of Zadar, the Sea Organ is a remarkable fusion of art and nature that captivates visitors with its enchanting melodies. This large experimental musical instrument is ingeniously designed beneath a staircase leading to the sea, where waves interact with a hidden system of pipes and whistles. As the tides ebb and flow, they create hauntingly beautiful sounds that are both unpredictable and mesmerizing.
It’s one of the most unique and peaceful places I’ve ever visited. The sound of the waves creating soft, natural music is so relaxing — perfect for just sitting back and enjoying the moment. The sunset here is breathtaking — the sky turns into a mix of orange, pink, and purple while you listen to the ocean "play" its song. The atmosphere is calm, romantic, and ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. A beautiful blend of nature, art, and sound. Don’t miss it if you’re in Zadar!
Niroshan P — Google review
This was one of the most unique and mesmerizing public art installations I’ve ever experienced. It looks like a giant glass disc set into the promenade, but as the sun sets, the entire thing comes alive with vibrant, shifting lights powered by solar energy collected during the day. The best part? You’re watching this incredible light show right next to the Adriatic, with live waves crashing and the Sea Organ playing in the background. Magical. The atmosphere in the evening is peaceful yet energetic—locals and travelers just soaking in the vibe. A must-visit if you’re in Zadar, especially at sunset.
Madhushree M — Google review
A very interesting spot on the embankment. The entire embankment is a pleasant place for a stroll, but the sea organ is a must-see, a chance to sit on the steps and listen to the sea sing. The best time to visit is when the waves are moderate. If the waves are calm, the sound is almost inaudible. If the waves are very rough, the sea floods the steps.
Miha S — Google review
It’s a great area to listen to some good music performed at the steps by the sea. The music comes from the waves and ripples underneath the granite steps. It was so relaxing, and it was a great place to sit and watch the activity on the water. It’s a great area for a stroll and gather some history. This is the area for Alfred Hitchcock love to watch the sunset, he said the best in the world. I WOULD RECOMMEND
Cindy L — Google review
It's a particularly special feeling when the sun sets and the people gathered there spontaneously begin to clap, as if they've just witnessed a performance. And when I think about it more closely, it really is the best show I've ever seen! So...the Sea Organ (Morske orgulje) is a unique architectural sound art object and experimental musical instrument located on the coast of Zadar, Croatia. Designed by architect Nikola Bašić, this ingenious creation uses the power of the sea to create a symphony of sound. Hidden beneath a series of large, white marble steps are 35 organ pipes of different lengths, shapes, and sizes. As waves and tides wash into the coastline, they push air through these pipes, producing melancholic and beautifully random musical tones. Because the sea is ever-changing, the organ never plays the same melody twice, making each listening experience a one-of-a-kind moment. Waiting for the sunset while listening to the Sea Organ is truly a spectacular and unforgettable experience. This is confirmed by the large number of people who gather to enjoy the hypnotic sound and the breathtaking spectacle of the sun dipping below the horizon. It's a place where nature, art, and human emotion come together in perfect harmony.

Saint Donatus’ Church is a large Catholic church with a circular shape that was constructed in the 9th century. It is located near the Roman Forum and St. Anastasia's Cathedral in Zadar, Croatia. The church has a pre-Romanesque style and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Dalmatia from that time period. Named after Bishop Donat, it features clean lines, a circular ground plan, and fortress-like architecture.
Visiting the Church of St. Donatus and climbing the adjacent Bell Tower is well worth the effort - the entrance is 5€. The church’s unusual circular arhitecture with it's mixture of Romanesque and Byzantine influences dates back to the 9th century and it's definitely a bit of a gem. Climbing the Bell Tower is rewarded with an excellent panorama of Zadar’s old town, the shimmering Adriatic Sea, and nearby islands.

An impressive ancient church located next to the Forum and the Cathedral. We were visiting early and had the place to ourselves. It was probably built in the 9th century and its design reflects architectural traditions of that time. It has a very authentic and somewhat eery vibe. I wish there were more explanations or some sort of a tour, but anyway, it was an interesting stop in Zadar. The entrance was 4 ears (cash only).

Ancient church, surrounded by roman heritage of an old town square and amphitheater. The church is small but still neat to see and sit and imagine how assemblies were held inside. Beautiful steps, and clean. 5€ per son's over 10yrs old to enter. About a 30 min adventure at most. But you can't put a price on history

Very historical buildings with a long glory history. Iis no longer an operational church but just being conserved for it's history and as a tourist attraction. Can see it's structure was constructed many years ago using old masonry techniques. It's still very solid and strong. Worth a visit to get an understanding or Zadar and also St Donatus' Church significance in this city & town.

A beautiful ancient church located in the heart of Zadar's old town and near the sea front. Taking a walk around old town reveals its historic charm, with each alleyway having its own story to tell! A walk around the oldtown and the sea front is definitely a must in Zadar!

I happen to be in Zadar when it just finished raining… do not make the same mistake. The crowds of people that filled the streets was insane. Many shopkeepers recommended to come when it rains as there are less people. But oh my days. However, the church is still very beautiful its just impossible to fully enjoy under such pretences

A magical place in the heart of Zadar, especially at night when the Romanesque bell tower and the Church of St. Donatus are beautifully illuminated. The square is full of life, with street performers, tourists, and cozy cafés around. The contrast between the ancient stone structures and the lively modern atmosphere creates a unique and memorable vibe. A must-visit spot for history lovers and anyone looking to feel the soul of the old town. Absolutely stunning!

Land Gate

Sights & Landmarks
The Land Gate in Zadar is a significant historical landmark that serves as the main entrance to the old town area, enclosed by medieval walls. Constructed in the 16th century by the Venetians, it features a grand triumphal arch adorned with intricate stone carvings depicting images of Zadar's patron saint and the winged lion of St. Mark.
The Land Gate (Kopnena Vrata) is one of Zadar’s most iconic historical landmarks, located in the city’s Old Town. Built in 1543 by the Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli, it served as the main entrance to the fortified city during the Venetian Republic. It is a stunning example of Renaissance architecture and holds immense historical and cultural significance. Key Features: 1. Design: • The gate is adorned with elaborate carvings, including a central triumphal arch flanked by two smaller arches. • At the top, it features the Lion of Saint Mark, a symbol of Venice, signifying Zadar’s importance as part of the Venetian Republic during that time. • It also includes decorative elements such as coats of arms and inscriptions. 2. Function: • The Land Gate was strategically positioned as part of the city’s defensive walls, which protected Zadar from Ottoman attacks. • It connected the city to the mainland via a drawbridge over the Fosa, a narrow moat that still exists today. 3. Cultural Significance: • Today, the Land Gate is a preserved part of Zadar’s UNESCO-listed Venetian fortifications. • It stands as a symbol of Zadar’s rich history and its strategic importance in the Adriatic during the Renaissance period. Modern Use: The Land Gate is now a pedestrian passage and a favorite spot for visitors exploring the Old Town. Its location near the Fosa Harbor makes it a picturesque entrance to Zadar’s historic center.

Beautiful historic monument, as is the Queen Jelena Madijevka Park, a Historic park atop the city bastions. There were 2 guided tours at the sane time, one in Mandarin Chinese, one in English at 5he time I visited. I would definitely recommend to go see the Land Gate at Fuša Harbor.

The 1543 entrance gate in Zadar impresses with its history and architecture. The Venetian walls are adorned with reliefs of a lion and St. Chrysogonus. Definitely worth seeing! Nearby, there's a shady park and a picturesque bay offering cruises for diving or sunset views. The gate was a crucial part of the city's defense during the Venetian Republic era and symbolizes its rich cultural heritage. Highly recommended!

Most impressive of the gates is the Land Gate, main entrance into Zadar. It is built by Michele Sanmicheli in 1543 and it has a form of a triumphal arch with a central passage and two smaller two arches for wheeled traffic and pedestrians.
Mat B — Google review
This is one of the beautiful old gates in the wall of the city. We understand that when the city was an island much of the area beyond this massive gate was a huge water filled mote. Eventually the mote was filled in forming a peninsula. Today the arch remains where the gates were and is a lovely historical landmark.
Louis E — Google review
From all city gates this might be the most remarkable and the most beautiful. Not only due to its Venetian Lion. Just maybe because of its sheere size. It is the entry and exit point to the South. And considering the historic centre is almost detached to three sides by waters, the Southern gate is the most important. Don’t miss!
Philipp S — Google review
This is a review of Zadar in general, not specifically the gate. It is not a great city to visit. Many of the building are modern concrete construction and it probably has the highest proportion of tourist trap restaurants. Lots of loud tourists and not a peaceful atmosphere. If you want to visit, don't bother staying more than one night.

Paklenica National Park is a stunning 95 sq km protected mountain forest located in the Velebit Range, which separates continental Croatia from the Adriatic coast. The park boasts two peaks higher than 1,700m and features two deep gorges, Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica, with cliffs over 400m high. Its unique geographical position results in diverse vegetation and climate zones ranging from warm Mediterranean to cold mountain climate.
One of these places where you don't need to walk much to see something amazing;) Just outside the parking lot, you can observe climbers or simply rest in the shade of the mountains and trees. Definitely go on a trek too or take a climbing lesson with a local guide!
Joanna ( — Google review
If you're going to go up the mountain, take sturdy shoes. We went up Vidakov Kuk. 745m high. About 6.4km to get there. The trail is fine up to the point of the Manitec cave. After that, you follow the red and white circles and lines to the top. It's not easy, there are no safety barriers, and sometimes it's pretty much straight up, holding onto rocks, steel wire and trees. Take your time and look for the next red and marker to set your course. When you get to the top, you are rewarded with a magnificent view. To get down there are 2 ways, back the way you came, or keep going, following the red and white markers. I would recommend going back the way you came. Even though the first part of that will be difficult, one you hit the trail it's easy sailing. Continuing on is a task and a half. The trail is VERY difficult. Steep slopes, on rocks most of the way, and you only have the markers as a guide as there is no real trail marked. It's tough on knees and ankles. Sometimes it feels like it will never end, you double back on yourself and feel lost. Plus it takes a lot longer this way. And when you get to the end, you will probably question your intelligence as why you did it 😄. But, if adventure is what you are wanting, do it.

This NP exceeded my expectations. Was a really lovely walk up to the cave and we had a great tour of the cave too. Toilets were clean and stocked. Great day out.
Amanda B — Google review
So the park and scenery is great. But the trails although clearly marked they are extremely confusing for people who want to hike more difficult trails. The map provided doesn’t align with the signs on the trails. So you don’t really know what you will see when you reach the trail end. They could mark up loop trails and colour code them by time and difficulty level. But if you have a one day there and want to do quick hike it will be nearly impossible to understand which trail to choose to see something as everything provided by the park is unusable. Restaurants in the park is cash only so don’t forget the money if you want to eat something.

Wonderful landscapes. Beauty of mountains. Amazing National Park - must see !! Entry is 10€, I bought Ticket online. There are free toilets. Free car park spots before entry.

Where the mountain meets the sea. Beautiful place, nice trails, awesome views.
Juraj B — Google review
The park is absolutely stunning and worth visiting, but hikers (especially visitors unfamiliar with the terrain) should be careful — it’s very easy to lose the trail, even just a few meters off. The rocky karst slopes can make every direction look the same, and some paths aren’t clearly marked. A small wrong turn can quickly lead into thick, thorny bushes and rough ground. I recommend adding more visible trail markings and some English-language signs or disclaimers, especially near confusing sections, so visitors can stay safe and enjoy the hike with confidence. Huge thanks to the park staff — they were incredibly kind, calm, and helpful when I got disoriented and needed assistance. Their professionalism and kindness really stood out.

Magnificent and off the beaten path!! Great spot for rock climbing or excellent views of the canyon and coast! Absolutely loved the trail and the rain helped cool us off. Could definitely see the park trails getting more slippery when wet.

Great place to visit with family. So much to see, very beautiful place. I would rate it 5 stars, but road to get there is so awful, it's a shame for such a great place!

Great for check in, the most awesome tips of visiting akajsightseen

Disgusting cigarette smell, no air or organization inside the place whatsoever. They just said: "please wait a minute" and handled something for over 10min time after which we had left the palce.

Restaurant Marina Kornati

Restaurant

Grill
Mediterranean restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Marinas
A great restaurant right in the marina in Biograd. Very spacious, with a terrace and a view of yachts and sailboats. The restaurant is impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Drink prices are average while food prices may be slightly higher than average. The menu is very interesting and will give you the opportunity to try something new. The staff is very kind and helpful in choosing food. The menu includes fish, crustacean and meat dishes. There is a children's menu. There are also desserts for those with a sweet tooth. Paid parking is available right next to the restaurant while free street parking is available nearby.

The whole experience in Restaura t Marina is awesome: its locatin in the marina Kornati, very attentive personnel, nice ambience (they have open fireplace inside), and the food is unbelievable good. We ate fish specialties, everything was prepared excellent.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful marina. The surroundings are really neat and clean while the restaurant is decorated beautifully. The food was exquisite! I would recommend you to try the "Octopus salad" dish which was delicious and one of my favorites! The service was great and I will be returning here again!

Location is inside the marina. Very nice veranda if you want to sit outside. Also area inside with air conditioning. Fresh and well done food. If you want to try traditional Croatian food like "Peka" order one day before, just call or ask your hotel to call for you. Service minded and friendly staff. Kids are welcome. Some vegetarian alternatives as well as gluten free alternatives. Price is fair to portion. Amazing sunset. Really worth a visit.

The food was okay, it was a little on the bland side but it wasn't bad. The service was good. The view was really nice too

Awful planning of waiters shifts. On Saturday there is always rush but it’s unforgivable and no excuse to wait to order cup of coffee for 40+ min. When asked waiter directly the answer was “wait for someone to come to you”
Anna S — Google review
Nice restaurant with very slow service, you can be half hour with empty glasses in almost empty restaurant and nobody will recognize it, until you will start to wave like windmill... For lunch we went rather outside of marine.

By far better than the reviews! Great view on the marina and sunset. Very friendly waitress and great culinary!

Beach Slanica is the main beach of Murter, a popular vacation island known for its breathtaking beauty and shallow sandy shores, making it a hit with families. The turquoise blue sea is stunning and perfect for swimming. Located on the southern side of the island, it offers various amenities and entertainment programs. Despite being less crowded due to current circumstances, it remains an ideal spot for families with kids as well as older visitors.
Beautiful beach, perfect for small kids. Blue waters and sand! Good food on the other side of the beach.

Beautiful beach with sand and shallow water. Very suitable for small children. There are also bars and restaurants nearby. It can be quite crowded during the summer. The water is very clean and a very beautiful color.

Another grrat place in Murter. Sandy beach ideally for a small babies, very low water level. Early morning get a place otherwise its crowded whole day... closely tobogans for a kids. Surrounded by great restaurants, look for Reflektor Murter on right side ☝️

Small beach with pebbles, the place was beyond full. We had a great time staying on the side of the beach, there are flat rocks that allow for sun bathing. Water is clean right off the rocks and many fish can be seen.

Amazing Beach. Only horrible thing is the parking. There are weird people running around selling overpriced parking tickets, for the parking at the beach. But if you park near the Konzum supermarket 10 minutes by foot away in the town, you only pay 1€ per hour. You have to pay with the BMove app though. But the installation of the app and purchasing of the ticket was super easy. Really recommend that option!

The shore is stones, but in the water is sand. The shore is shallow, perfect for children's games. We didn't visit cafes. There were a lot of people, but we found a place to sit. Nice place.

10€ for parking on a rocky spot, the beach is very small with masses of people..towel besides towel. Water is nice like almost everywhere in Croatia.
Tas — Google review
Nice beach. Not overcrowded (at least was not 3-13 July 19). Water not the nicest, since it's more or less a small bay. Depends where exactly you stay on the beach. Decent service in terms of food, drinks, sport activities. Below average prices in Croatia in general. No "adrenaline" activities really available.

Roski waterfall

National reserve
Nature & Parks
Dramatic, multi-tiered cascade with a cave, a wooden walkway & a rustic restaurant, plus boat tours.
One of many breathtaking places in Croatia. A little bit crowded especially on the weekends and in the high season but still worth seeing. Boat trip to the falls is a nice option. Saves time and gives extra pleasure.

Honest review – beautiful nature, but a bit overhyped Parking space is quite limited, so be prepared to wait. There’s a small area where you can buy drinks and snacks, and also restrooms available. By the river, there’s a small spot where you can swim, but it’s not very big. The main waterfall is only truly visible if you arrive by boat. You can see it from the dock, but honestly, it didn’t impress me much. The second part of the trail is very natural and peaceful, with several small cascades and river levels that create a charming setting. The third part, which leads to the cave, involves climbing over 500 steps — definitely not suitable for everyone. In my opinion, the cave itself wasn’t particularly special. All in all, I had imagined something more impressive. It’s not bad, but I definitely wouldn’t give the place 5 stars. What I did really enjoy was the small restaurant area where a few tables are placed right in the middle of a shallow stream — perfect for cooling your feet on a hot day while having a drink.

Beautiful area and nature around the waterfall. Some spectacular panoramic views from the top ( that's if you decide to make an effort of steep walk to visit the cave which is only good for the view of the area not the cave it self - it's tiny.) As for the waterfall I think it's slightly overrated, you can only see it from a fair distance and it's quite small or there is a option to see it up close from the boat which will take you there for a small fee of €15.

INCREDIBLE! Lovely scenery, beautiful walks, boat trips in the sun, who could ask for more. Goof for families, hikers, adventures. Take water bottles, picnic and as long day as you can make, loads to enjoy

We arrived from the Krka National Park Information Center at Roški slap. Going down the road, there's a traffic light over a small bridge, after which you can reach the parking lot on the right or turn left onto the cave trail with another parking lot—since it's hidden, free parking seems easy to find there. The site itself has a swimming area and a restaurant, and is also the starting point for boat trips; otherwise, climbing towards the cave, there are several scenic stops from which you can truly admire its beauty. The Krka National Park ticket grants access to this area. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Right near the entrance to Krka Natiinal Park, very short walk through lovely forest and scenery to the site; small cafe, stream, lake and the falls viewed from boat pier. We'll worth it and no hassle like some of the waterfalls.
Terike — Google review
Nature Very nice, but the watterfall was very small - they informed us before buying the tickets at the info stand, but it should also be stated on the website, brochures that in the summer there are house pipes with bigger flow. Roski slap tickets are overpriced. If you visit all 4 locations included in the ticket than it is worth it, but you have cca 1,5 hours driving from loc to location. All are very interesting
Pascal G — Google review
It was exactly what I expected! Absolutely beautiful! However, I suggest that you get there early! We took the first boat and got right to it, by the time we were done, the lower half of the park was PACKED!
