Imposing mass of ice, an arm of Europe's largest glacier, located in a sprawling national park.
You can not get much closer ;) Great place were you can see the glacier coming out of the mountains. Recommendation: Take a walk along the lake and the path, take a big sip of the cristal clear water, enjoy the nature around.
Thomas ( — Google review
Most of the glacier visible has gone but you get the idea of what it was. I had visited the glacier museum prior to going and there is a superb video of the whole glacier however this is all hidden from view now. It’s a pretty place with a little lake. There is a small water fall close by but unfortunately this is inaccessible. However I visited on a sunny day with clear blue skies so that certainly added to the visit. There isn’t much to do there and walking is somewhat limited
Bibi F — Google review
Beautiful glacier and so close to the road! You only have to walk 10min to get there and the path is all even. This is unlike Jostedalsbreen where you have to hike 40min to get there! There is a very nice restaurant with big glass windows overlooking the glacier and the lake - highly underrated and definitely recommended!
Hanna W — Google review
Most beautiful glacier! During the evening hours you can visit the place alone without other tourists :)
Mariola K — Google review
We were driving to our next destination when we passed this glacier. We of course didn't let this chance slide and stopped to enjoy this beautiful place. We were able to have a hike next to the glacier which was impressive. Although the weather was lovely, the ice-cold water and cold of the glacier added to the experience! The view that we had was beautiful, every side we went. It's worth the visit for sure!
Wella — Google review
Glacier is far up the mountain but close enough to see them without a binocular. Park near the restaurant and walk down to the viewing area. Beautiful view, many waterfalls and different rock formation make it a unique place to visit.
J L — Google review
Very beautiful glacier close to the main road (if one can called be main - it took me extra 4 hours to get here on the way from Bergen to Lillehammer). Anyway, the views are totally spectacular. Despite the glacier appearing to be close to the car park it’s actually difficult to walk closer to it (and the weather was just dreadful the day I happened to be there). You can’t really see the glacier because the view will be instructed by the rocks, so don’t see a point of suffering to walk through the forest to get closer to it. The place is amazing.
Dan S — Google review
Very impressive and, unsurprisingly, much much colder up there than I imagined, but the glacier is an incredible sight. Set against the mountains and now smaller than in previous years due to lack of rain/snow we were shown how large it used to be. Nevertheless, it is still hugely impressive and blue - apparently due to the lack of oxygen in the ice from the pressure of the ice above.

The Glacier Museum, a modern architectural marvel by Sverre Fehn, is a must-see attraction dedicated to climate and glaciers. Situated amidst a grassy landscape in Fjaerland, the museum offers insights into glacier geology, fjord formation processes, and the ecology of Jostedalsbreen. Visitors can explore a simulated ice tunnel and view the tusk of a Siberian woolly mammoth that met its demise 30,000 years ago.
This was a really great experience! Super interactive so you keep attention and everything is well explained. It raises issues about climate change but in a hopeful and informative way. The last part of the exhibition made me cry so you did an awesome job.
Lea J — Google review
Nice little museum surrounded by the beautiful mountains, Fjord, lake, and the glacier. Very small size, but the panoramic movie (and its making video) makes the price worth the visit! Don’t forget to walk up to the roof for the view of amazing surroundings!
Dwight Y — Google review
Excellent museum with great interactive exhibits. I thought I knew what glaciers were, but came away even better informed and amazed. Very interactive and fun!
David ( — Google review
Well worth the 1.5 hour drive to explore this informative museum. The 20 minute movie is an experience in itself and awe inspiring. I would watch it again. We enjoyed the hands on exhibits, reading all of the information boards offering 10 different languages! Very clean, helpful staff, calm environment.
Cindy P — Google review
Excellent museum ! The glacier movie as well as the interractive display on climate change was really cool. Also, the simulated glacier at the bag was great. They also serve food which is decent.
Algwins — Google review
Little museum with beautiful architecture, the main attraction is the cinema showing a video about the biggest European glacier. It's nice that there are some interactive demonstrations to understand how glacier physics works, but it's a bit pricey. It's worth an hour or so of a visit.
Fabri D — Google review
A MUST! Already loved glaciers but this museum was everything I had hoped. From explaining the science behind what happens on and around glaciers to pressing the impact humans have had, this museum itched every curiosity. It gets busy when busses stop by but worth the stop. Hit the roof too, they have glass plaques that call out the fjord, valleys, glaciers and peaks you are surrounded by.
Emily — Google review
A really interesting and highly informative Museum. It is located in Fjærland and serves as a leading center for glacier and climate knowledge. It was designed by architect Sverre Fehn, built in 1991 and features sharp, angular shapes to reflect the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Its information is through interactive exhibits, including a simulated ice tunnel and experiments with 1,000-year-old ice from Supphellebreen. It is scientifically important as it houses the Ulltveit-Moe Climate Centre, which provides insights into climate change. It is open from April to October and offers guided nature walks and glacier tours in the area.

Briksdalsbreen

Mentioned on

Glacier
Sights & Landmarks
Briksdalsbreen is one of the most popular arms of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, which is the largest glacier in mainland Europe. It descends from a height of 1200m down the Briksdalen valley to a small glacial lake, offering stunning views and attracting visitors from around the globe. Accessible via a hiking trail amidst waterfalls and towering mountains, it provides an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts.
A marvellous place , easy walk from the parking to the lake where you can see in front of you the glacier, that is much smaller than before. The only problem is the Norwegian who set up a small car ( not electric ) service to bring tourist from the park to the lake !!! People come to the mountain and they don’t even want to walk and enjoy it.
Luca D — Google review
Fun hike and good views! However when you reach the base of the glacier, you actually see less of it. Be sure to take photos when you’re a bit further out (you can do this when returning to the parking lot).
Jeremy C — Google review
Very nice hike! Moderate, out and back hike, suitable for families and strollers, great viewpoints of waterfalls, the glacier and a small lake. The Glacier gets smaller every year which is sad to see but still worth a visit! Took us about 45 minutes each way.
Ori D — Google review
Must come! If you are lucky, you may accidentally park at the parking lot besides paid parking for free like me😂😂. I would say it is totally worth it. If you have no problem with your health, I recommend you to walk up to the glacier because there are some amazing views along the way. You can easily spend 2 or more hours taking photos and picnic there. The energy of the glacier is just magical. MUST-COME. Easy walk. 30 mins up and 30 mins back in total. Worth it!
Fiona H — Google review
Hiked up to the glacier, very scenic all the way up, you miss a lot if you take the troll cars. A few beautiful waterfalls along the way
Dan H — Google review
Easy family route for all ages. Amazing view of the glaciar and glaciar lake. You can take the troll bus or walk to the view. Path is easy, you can take your trolly and family friendly. We had an amazing time. It was very windy and be prepared to have a raincoat to wear it while going through the waterfall. You will get whet.
M. O — Google review
This place is a must-visit—especially for cruise travelers. As is typical in Norway, you’ll often see rain and sunshine at the same time, so be sure to dress appropriately. If you purchase a round-trip bus ticket, you can hop on any return bus from the same company regardless of the time.
K.H L — Google review
Breathtaking! Not a long walk to the glacier, 5k in total. Quicker walking back as it is downhill. So many good photo opportunities. The waterfalls are incredible. Well worth the a visit.

Flåm Railway Museum

Rail museum
The Flam Railway, also known as Flamsbana, is a renowned train journey in South Norway that covers around 20 kilometers and offers breathtaking views of mountains, waterfalls, and valleys. Considered one of the most beautiful train journeys globally, it's a must-see when visiting this part of Norway. In addition to popular attractions like the Borgund Stave Church and Undredal Stave Church, the Flam Railway Museum is an intriguing stop.
We went on the train up to Myrdal and back and then a boat cruise. It was a very interesting visit after being on the train and seeing the tunnels. It's amazing how they made them. Good displays and information in the museum and it is free to visit. Would recommend taking a look if you visit Flam or have been on the rail way .
Claire A — Google review
Here’s a vivid, enthusiastic 5-star style review (roughly 500 words) of the Flåm Railway Museum, capturing its charm, storytelling power, and why it’s a standout destination: ⸻ Stepping into the Flåm Railway Museum feels like uncovering a hidden gem nestled right beside the picturesque Flåm Station; perfectly positioned for anyone arriving via the famed Flåmsbana journey. Housed in the original train station and completely free to enter, this museum elegantly bridges local history and impressive engineering—offering a heartfelt tribute to the human spirit behind this steep railway feat . Inside, the exhibits are beautifully curated: polished original artifacts like draisines and rail-inspection trolleys sit alongside the awe-inspiring El 9 locomotive, a stalwart locomotive that powered the line from the 1940s until the early 1980s . The displays, enriched with photographs, videos, text panels, and audio guides in nine languages via the Voice of Norway app, make the narrative accessible, immersive, and deeply engaging . As you traverse the compact yet rich exhibition, you’re truly taken back to the 1920s and 1930s—when planning began and construction began in 1924. This was no small undertaking: the 20-kilometer line to Myrdal, crisscrossing 20 tunnels (18 carved by hand!), climbing almost 900 meters over rugged terrain, stands as a tribute to exceptional human perseverance and creativity . The storytelling is personal and grounded. You learn not just about technical challenges but about the engineers and workers whose day-to-day grit shaped this marvel. A visitor on TripAdvisor praised it as “well-organised” and lauded the El 9 locomotive and audiovisual tour as standout features—high praise for what’s a modest-sized museum . The space also delights in small, thoughtful touches: a model-builder’s dream awaits at the station-area diorama, and the souvenir shop offers unique Flåm-Railway-themed keepsakes—from LEGO-style sets to handicrafts—for families and fans alike . What truly elevates the experience is its seamless blend with the surrounding environment. After the awe-inducing Flåmsbana ride—traversing tunnels, waterfalls, steep gradients, stopping at Kjosfossen waterfall for photos—the museum offers a perfect, grounding complement. It connects the spectacular visual journey with the human narrative behind constructing such an extraordinary route . In short, the Flåm Railway Museum stands as a shining example of how small, thoughtfully designed museums can make a big impact. It’s accessible, educational, and deeply moving. Whether you’re a history buff, engineering enthusiast, railway aficionado, or simply someone who values heartfelt storytelling—don’t skip this stop. Your visit will leave you with a new appreciation for Norway’s engineering heritage and the indomitable will of those who built one of the world’s steepest railways by hand. Five stars—bravo! ⸻ Hope this review captures the spirit and charm of the Flåm Railway Museum for your purposes! Let me know if you’d like a different tone or style.

Great history of the railroad here at Flam. Very good exhibits with signage in Norwegian and most signs also in English. Easy to download an app for self-guided tour in several languages. We could not find all the audio guide markers and managed to have a great tour. Entry thru gift shop in central Flam. Great free museum.
Toni T — Google review
The Flåm Railway is truly one of the most breathtaking train journeys in the world. Stretching just 20 kilometers between Flåm and Myrdal, the ride is short but packed with stunning scenery that feels almost unreal. From the moment the train departs, you’re surrounded by towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, deep valleys, and charming little villages. The highlight for many is the stop at Kjosfossen Waterfall, where you can step outside to feel the mist and watch a short cultural performance. The train itself is comfortable, with large windows that make it easy to enjoy the views from either side. Commentary along the way provides helpful background about the history and engineering marvel of the railway, which is one of the steepest standard-gauge lines in the world. Yes, it can get busy with tourists, especially in summer, and tickets are a bit pricey—but the experience is worth every moment. My tip is to book in advance and, if possible, pair it with a fjord cruise for the full “Norway in a Nutshell” adventure.

Fantastic mini museum, and it's free! Takes about 30 minutes to go through and definitely worth a visit. Flam railway history and how it was built was fascinating to learn about. Awesome gift store in the front.
Debbie F — Google review
A small but very interesting museum, with free entrance, which worths a visit if you are in Flam
Iakovos N — Google review
You can visit the museum and know the history how flam railway was constructed
Murugan M — Google review
This museum is a true treasue. It's a beautiful, clean space with a free entry for everybody, inviting tourists to step in and explore the history surrounding the creation of the railway, which remains a the main attraction in the area of Flam. It not only delves into the railway's history but also provides insights into the daily life of that era. At the entrance, there's also a souvenir shop where, along with your exploration of the museum, you can indulge in some tax free shopping. It is, indeed true, that it may appear small from the outside, the museum surprises with its spacious interior, featuring the highlight of an old train section at the back. Highly recommended if you're in the area, and just a 10-minute visit can be quite rewarding.

Visitors can expect to encounter abundant wildlife including seals and porpoises during the boat tours. Thermal suits, gloves, and other gear are provided for the boat trips to ensure comfort in the cold weather.
From stopping in Flam surrounded by the awesome scenery and imposing mountains we went on the Flam Safari. The staff were incredibly friendly and you could tell they take pride I what they do. After getting suited up the guide took us on a 1 1/2-2hr ride....the conditions were just perfect. The scenery and places we would never of seen and close ups with some of the waterfalls was brilliant. I must shout out our guide (who I took a photo with) named Geoffrey (hope that's spelt right!!!). He stopped at certain points and gave info about the area, history, facts and jokes....his enthusiasm and friendliness really made the trip complete and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. All in all, I would go again and would definitely recommend if anyone goes here!

Amazing! The RIB boat tour is a fantastic way to see the fjords. Our tour guide provided lots of fun facts and information that helped me enjoy the fjords more. We even saw seals!! They provided us with the protective gear needed to stay warm and in case it rained. So, regardless of weather you just need to show up and have a good time!
Sarah B — Google review
Fantastic experience. The staff was so so kind and helpful. Our guide Bjorn was wonderful. We think the 1.5 hour tour was just perfect. They provide you with all the clothing you might need to not be cold. It was wonderful. Highly recommended.

An Unforgettable RIB Boat Tour - Inga Made It Truly Special! Our RIB boat tour was an absolute highlight of our trip, and we owe so much of that to Inga, our incredible guide. From the moment the tour began, her passion, warmth, and deep knowledge shone through. She shared fascinating insights about the region's history, the fjord, and so much more - all in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. Inga's energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and her love for the area made the experience feel truly authentic. We felt incredibly fortunate to have her leading our tour. Her presence elevated the whole journey and made it not just a scenic adventure, but a meaningful and memorable experience. We are truly grateful for the time she spent with us - thank you, Inga, for making this an unforgettable part of our trip!🩷🤗🥰
Rebecca H — Google review
This was an exceptional tour experience. Of course the views of the Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord were breathtaking and even more incredible from the rib boat. What really made our trip was our guide Matilde. She was so knowledgeable and made sure we got all our questions answered. She took us up close to many notable places: waterfalls, towns, troll “remains” 😄, and even a waterside herd of goats. She and our gear and safety instructor Bjorn made a memorable experience even more so. It was clear that they take our enjoyment and our safety very seriously. Book this tour! You’ll be glad you did.

We had an amazing experience on the fjords with Marcus on Wednesday. We felt very safe on the boat, they provide suits, goggles and gloves. Marcus told great stories as he guided us through the fjords around Flåm. We even saw some seals! Would highly recommend booking the extended tour, it was incredible!
Alannah — Google review
I took the Fjordsafari on 5 Oct, and had Robbie as our boat captain and guide, who was exceptional. What an excellent experience and amazing way to see the beautiful fjords, getting up close to the scenery and learning about the history and legends of the area. I would highly recommend this as a much better alternative to Norway’s Best’s fjord cruise between Gudvangen and Flåm.
Richard G — Google review
5 stars... The absolute highlight of our two weeks tour to Norway. We did the 1.5 hour tour, with Bartek as a guide. Super fun, very informative and he was extremely professional in hes appearance. We had two kids with us. One and two years. The one year old fell asleep. (Not because of the guide, but her nap time) And the two years old, wanted to sail more..! Would recommend to everyone passing by flam.

Scenic Railroads
Flåmsbana, also known as the Flam Railway, is a historic railway line in Norway that offers a picturesque journey through scenic valleys and waterfalls. The train ascends almost 1,000 meters to provide stunning views of the surrounding mountains and cascading waterfalls. One of its special stops includes the impressive Kjosfossen waterfall. The railway is considered one of the most beautiful train journeys globally and is a popular tourist attraction in Norway.
One of the great railway journeys of the world. Not the longest, but one of the most scenic ever .. I found it virtually impossible to stay in my seat as the views appeared from one side to the other. The stop at the waterfall was unexpected and very dramatic. The "witch" that dances to the moody music and seems to jump around the landscape is quite magical
Richard H — Google review
Visited via a cruise. Flåm has one of europe's most beautiful train journeys but sadly we missed out on tickets and had to settle for the land train. These are pretty regular and do a loop of a few kilometres. We we're told that the e-cars you can hire are good fun. The weather wasn't great but it did produce some great photos of the cloud rolling down the mountain.
Alex M — Google review
It was a nice train ride. It’s a good way to get up into the mountains to appreciate the scenery. If you do t go you regret it. It’s too expensive to book through the cruise for what you get. We booked directly through the train and that was a little more reasonable. It was a relaxing ride and if was a pretty round trip tour. Picturesque. The water was low while we were there so no big rushing waterfalls but pretty.
N Y — Google review
The Flåm Train is definitely worth the price, even though everything in the area feels a bit overpriced. The beginning of the ride felt a little slow and didn’t quite live up to the hype at first, but it just kept getting better. The scenery becomes truly spectacular — especially when the train stops and you can step out near the waterfall. When we first stopped, the water was pouring down so heavily and loudly that we completely missed the little performance happening nearby! Luckily, on the return trip, the train stopped again, and we got to enjoy the icy mist and actually see the show. It was an unforgettable experience and well worth the journey — I’d love to go back someday.
Chen Z — Google review
I took a Flåmsbana rail journey from Flam to Myrdal and it was one of the most scenic train I have taken. The views were amazing plus the stop at waterfall was very good. The train and the staff inside was excellent. I would love to take this journey again when in Flam again. I even enjoyed the scenic views at the Myrdal train station.
Aatish B — Google review
The trip fro Myrdal to flam and return 2 days laters, is definitely in the top three of all our train trip, is was so much fun sitting in the old style cabins, (there was plenty of room, we could constantly swap seats to take in all the views), we had a wonderful stop at the waterfall, we will treated to snow on the return trip. All in all a wonderful experience.
V H — Google review
Amazing views and service. It’s all tourist so expect to be packed but it’s incredible and worth the ride. We left from Mydral and went down and up after staying in Flåm and the railroad was an amazing experience. We did struggle with finding baggage space for our larger luggage but lots of overhead racks for small stuff.
Corey — Google review
A very nice place to visit however too commercialised with not many nice local foods to try. Self service coffee shop was a massive letdown. Small market was nice as were the souvenir shops. Their is a fantastic walk if a little challenging, to near the top of a waterfall about 650 meters up.

A nice and well conserved stave church, surrounded by its cemetery. The building was closed when I visited, so I couldn't see the inside, but it just looked nice from the outside anyway :)
Marjorie L — Google review
Absolutely stunning! Closed for renovations (they were painting the exterior mid-April 2025), but still cool to walk around! There is an electric fence, but it’s to keep the deer out! Just enter through the gate, and close it behind you.
J L — Google review
It's closed and surrounded by 5feet high electric fence but you can still see it well from outside and admire it.

Interesting building dating back 12 century, only 28 of these churches left in Norway, if you get the opportunity to visit one do so.
Sid N — Google review
Nice church at a cemetery, flowers at every grave. Access costs 220 NOK for a family and 200 NOK for a book about the stave churches. See it as cultural heritage support.

Beautiful church with a beautiful backdrop
Tori H — Google review
A fascinating church in the middle of this little town, where there is no place for eating. Entrance costs 7€ maybe expensive for one church, but It Is very beautiful, after that we suggest walking to Amla and if you need ti buy something catch a bus to Sogndal.
Antonio N — Google review
A beautiful little stave church. Unfortunately we arrived too early to go inside (opens at 10:00) but it is located in a beautiful place. (Everywhere in Norway is beautiful though) There is a little gravel parking lot to the right of the building and graveyard. The oldest gravestone was from the middle of the 17th century.

Amazing Tour! Our Guide Jack was so lovely. He was in such a good mood and really spread motivation and energy. Also very interesting facts about history, fjords, animals and more. Would recommend any time!
Paula D — Google review
This was a great experience! Tom and Jack were amazing guides and very willing to share ideas for the rest of our trip. They were knowledgeable and shared interesting facts throughout the trip. It was amazing to be on the fjord and experience the landscape around us thanks to FjordSeal. It was sunny and warm, and we all wore shorts and t-shirts.
Katie L — Google review
Highly recommended! Very friendly (family) staff, nice kayaks, cool pace, cosy lunch stop and super interesting facts and trivia about local economy, culture and nature along the way. Thanks to Paul, Tom & Bob for the nicest trip!! Pro tip: if you’re going out on a single kayak and it’s your first time: get your balance dialed! 😅
Thomas S — Google review
Such a great experience Jack was a true gentleman and an apostle legend taking us out of normal hours to a fab spot for cliff jumps and a spot of light reading. Well worth everything to go here to experience just a few hours with Jack and the stunning scenery. Best view of waterfalls, fjords and glaciers.
Ben C — Google review
Our group of five took the kayak tour with Tom. He was an excellent tour guide and gave us so much information about the area and also the culture. There were beautiful views. On the day we kayaked, we had the entire fjord to ourselves, not even another boat nearby. It was too cold to swim but we had a lovely lunch at the halfway point. I highly recommend this tour if you are in the area.
Melissa D — Google review
Paul and Jack were wonderful guides. Besides the actual tour, there were several stops where they told us a lot about the Sognefjord, their company or the Norwegian communities. An absolute recommendation

Stegastein Lookout in Norway is a unique observation platform that extends out from the mountain, offering breathtaking views of the fjord and surrounding landscapes. Visitors are instantly enveloped in tranquility as they take in the majestic beauty of the mountains and ocean below. The experience is described as peaceful and calming, providing a sense of awe-inspiring wonder. However, it's advised to visit on clear days to fully appreciate the glorious views, as rainy or cloudy weather can obscure the scenery.
Fun drive up and beautiful views. Can get busy when a tour van shows up, but we got lucky at first with no one there. Even on a partly cloudy day there were stunning views.

Tge view is amazing, but there are some things i like to mention: - The road from Aurlandsvangen is very narrow, just for one car but the way up the are several places where you can pass the cars going down. If going on high season be prepared to meet many cars and taking extra time to go up and down the road. -Next to the view point there is a parking place but only for dozen cars, sometimes we had to park the car next to the road further up the parking place since the way down is narrow. There is a toilet next to the parking.

Wooden bridge that offers a wonderful view on the Sognefjord. The road to get there is basically a nightmare because it's super narrow and congested, also with buses and RVs: therefore be prepared to get stuck in the jam for several minutes and don't go there if you're a novice driver.

Definitely worth a visit. To access here, there are several ways including 1) hike; 2) drive; 3) bus tour; 4) taxi. We have our camper van but we didn’t end up driving our camper van up there after reading all the reviews online. There are a lot hairpin turns on the way up and we felt our van was a bit on the large end therefore we don’t want to risk it. We joined a bus tour from Norway’s Best company. It was good experience. The guide stopped 3 times to allow us to see things on the way. Because we joined a morning tour, there aren’t a lot people on the lookout. So it is relatively easy to get photos without people on your background! FYI - we didn’t go there in summer peak season. We went in Sept after school started. So maybe it’s another story in peak season

This is one of the best spots to get beautiful views of the fjords. It is completely free and easily accessible with ample parking available. There are clean, free toilets on site. The road up to the lookout is quite interesting, but if you have a big vehicle, consider switching to a smaller one. There are meeting points along the way, but please be careful while driving. Some people also hike or bike to the lookout. It's definitely worth a visit, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the Aida cruise ship. Enjoy your stay in beautiful Norway. Anytime of the year is best time to visit.

Fantastic spot, the views are just breathtaking. We went up in the evening and early morning (6am) to avoid tour coaches. If you are: not a confident driver, in a large vehicle, or can’t reverse I would either give it a miss, or stick to quiet times. Vehicles coming in the opposite direction are often travelling too fast and for long section there is only space for one car. The view point half way up/down is also superb.
J B — Google review
The Drive is a fun one - very curvaceous- Be Ready ! Lolol - G8 lookout and place to take photos - Selfies will pop, but befriend someone and have them take your photo so U can get the whole view. Not a must do , but if you can , Go !

I travelled here for the 2nd time. This provides the best panoramic view of the fjord and town. You can follow road up from here to get serene experience of the glacier top and snow with greenery. Just like E63.

Adventure Tours Norway offers an incredible way to explore the stunning landscapes of Norway, whether you choose to drive along "The Romantic Road" or rent bikes from Eplet in Solvorn or Skjolden. The cafe serves as a perfect starting point for hiking adventures, including the scenic trek up to Feigefossen waterfall. For those seeking thrills on water, their rib boat tours provide exhilarating experiences with breathtaking views and lively guides who enhance the journey with music and enthusiasm.
Absolutely fantastic rib tour on the Fjord that was definitely a highlight of the holiday. We tried to book months in advance but everything was full both through our cruise company and direct. Then the night before, our ship came close enough to land for my internet to work and I discovered a load of spaces had come available. I snapped up 2 slots and was so pleased I'd checked. Our driver/guide was brilliant and we loved everything about the experience.

We rented bikes here early in the season. Karlis had our bikes ready and opened up the shop just for us. We had an incredible ride along the romantic road and up through the valley. We got an e-bike and two regular bikes so everyone was able to bike together. Bikes also came with good lights for the tunnels. Karlis was very accommodating and gave us good directions for where to go, would highly recommend.

What a great trip, the guys that run this were amazing, very professional and also made you feel relaxed, all the gear is provided to keep you warm and safe. Can't tell you it's a must to book this trip, we had an amazing time. Book directly with them or walk up like we did and book, we waited 20 mins. Save alot of money doing it directly than going through the cruise liner.

We rented bikes for a reasonable price (400 nok for a whole day). A short trip tot Drivandefossen (8km one way), afterwards a sportive ride to Urnes (29km one way) for the Urnes Stankyrkja. You pass through serveral unlit tunnels. The locals consider this the "romantic route". Truely beautiful! Other options such as fishing or a boat trip on the fjord are also recommended!

Borgund New Church

We visited Borgund’s New Church in Norway, located right beside the historic wooden church. Built in recent eras, it provides an interesting contrast to the old stave church. The entrance ticket includes access to both churches, along with a guided tour, and there’s also a nearby farmhouse to explore. Recommend a visit to experience both historical and more recent architecture in this beautiful setting.

What an unbelievable experience to finally see it in real life. It's a must see when you're in Norway
Toby A — Google review
It's a bit off the beaten path but it's worth a visit. Service is nice but the guide that was present ignored us and wasn't very helpful. Would recommend a visit anyways - 100 NOK entrance fee is not bad
Bruno S — Google review
One of the oldest stave churches in the world. It was built in 1180 and too old but preserved very well. It has an entrance fee to go inside (not to see it from the outside). It was worth it! The construction made us awe struck. Sadly, there were no surviving paintings. The bell tower is under some renovation so we were not able to go up to see it. The staffs were friendly both at the exhibit and near the church as well. They helped us with the history. But it is recommended to first see the exhibit and understand the history before going in the church.
Sai N — Google review
A place that worth visit if you're around. There are two main church's well conserved. They're kinda different of what you usually see. There's no much other things around the area, except for a museum and a small River
Carlos G — Google review
There are also spanish guided tour in the Church. Amazing!. A terrace for sunny days avaliable.

Beautiful and underrated church - highly recommended! This is a very beautiful church. In my opinion, even more impressive than Unesco Urnes Stave Church. It’s easy to reach, with a large parking area and surrounded by lovely nature and peaceful surroundings. Just one thing to keep in mind: the church closes already at 5 PM, which might feel a bit early during the summer season. So make sure to plan your visit accordingly.

A great ski school! We booked a couple of private lessons for our daughter who has additional support needs and they were great. We had a telephone consultation with Joffrey and he made sure we got an instructor who would be well suited. Our daughter learnt to ski with Falko the instructor. He was a good teacher and he got on well with her and included her interest in throwing snowballs to make her lessons even more fun. We returned for another trip and booked her more lessons with Slaattaa ski school recently. Again we had a great experience. I reccomend Slaatta Ski School because they are helpful, friendly and fun.

Fantastic ski school! We travelled with our two boys aged 13 and 11, and booked 4 mornings of lessons (via Crystal Ski) varying from beginner to intermediate. As we visited in low season, the boys were put together (2:1) with Henric, and learned so much! They progressed to parallel turns and 'hockey stops', explored the main ski area as well as kid-friendly bumpy/activity tracks and even some off-piste in the 'woods'! Henric was so kind and patient, and the boys both loved spending time with him. Us adults were both taught by Lasse, albeit in different groups. Again we both thoroughly enjoyed our lessons and found them so beneficial. Lasse was very knowledgeable about the resort and local area, and a very experienced skier with lots of interesting stories and great tips for all abilities. It's worth mentioning too that there were plenty of other instructors around, and they all seemed to love their job, and had such a lovely way with the children. Thank you, we are already researching a return trip!

LOVE Beito Aktiv! I did two activities with them and can’t wait to come back and try the rest of them! I did the Sauna which was nice and private. Looking out at the lake it had a very nice view. I definitely recommend. And I did the fishing which was the most fun I’ve had in a while. I hadn’t been fishing in years and it’s perfectly okay if you’re a beginner. You won’t feel left out at all. We smoked the fish that was caught and we had some coffee with boiled lake water cause it’s a fresh water lake. Great time. The most fun I had in Beitostølen for sure.

Although this is a replica and not the original historic church, it still looks beautiful and well built. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go inside as it was closed during our visit. The whole area around it — including a nearby campsite — feels like it’s still being developed, but it has potential. I’m glad to see initiatives like this bringing traditional architecture to life. Wishing this place continued growth and success — happy to have visited.

If you're looking for real Viking history then this church is NOT! For you. Unfortunately this is a fake church, built as a tourist attraction, there are no graves around the church, no engravings in or around the outer walls. It's a copy, I would advise you to take this one off your to see list. The car shop, Biltema next door is older than this church. We were not impressed, it looks the part but there's no history involved in it.

The one-day animal keeper experience for children was a valuable experience that cannot be had anywhere else. All the animals we met here were well cared for by experienced professionals, and all the staff here seemed to love their work and were happy to share their experiences and stories, providing interactive experiences with the animals to all visitors.

We expected little and received so much more! Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful small wildlife parks I have ever visited. The grounds are wonderfully maintained, with breathtaking views of the surrounding nature and impressive scenery everywhere you look. It’s clear that the animals are very well cared for, and the staff—who speak fluent English—are always ready to answer any questions with a smile. We were lucky enough to arrive just in time for the guided feeding session, led in English by the park’s owner herself. The tour with this warm and energetic lady was not only funny and entertaining, but also very educational. Thanks to her, we got to see the animals in action—and even had the chance to feed and gently pet the arctic foxes ourselves. The admission price feels more than fair for such an experience. Knowing that the animals are truly well looked after and that the guided tour is this engaging, I wouldn’t hesitate to pay even more. I was genuinely happy to support this place not only through the entrance fee but also by buying a few small souvenirs from the gift shop. On my next trip to your beautiful country, I will definitely return here again!

Great nature park with a variety of wildlife to see. Family really enjoyed the visit, especially the interaction with foxes, elks and reindeer during feeding. Definitely recommended!
Pavlos P — Google review
The park is not suitable for non-resident tourists or those who don’t speak Norwegian. It’s large and features several native Norwegian animals, but don’t expect to see them all due to the size of the enclosures—unless you’re lucky. There are no guides on site, only signs in Norwegian or pictures of the animals. The park is not well adapted for wheelchair users. While some bike-friendly paths are technically usable by wheelchairs and there are ramps to shops and restaurants, the park lacks proper accessibility. There are no discounted entry tickets for families or wheelchair users, unlike what many international parks offer. There are also no accessibility features on the hills and slopes, which makes pushing a wheelchair extremely difficult. Significant improvements are needed regarding access and tourist support.
Maitha T — Google review
Wonderful experience, you get to see wolfes, bobcats, reindeers and other wild animals in a respectufully large area. The visit is commented by professionals who are passionate about their activity. I recommend spending the night on site where you get to enjoy the park in a more private atmosphere and participate to interesting activities, like milking goats 😃
Ced R — Google review
Really unique experience with rare animals All animals have great parks to thrive We went up to the lake to have an even better view "Hyttene" are very cute and authentic EV charging station : watch out, there are no fast charging stations
Guillaume M — Google review
Wonderful interactive animal park for all ages, the best part being the animal feedings (this includes feeding reindeers, moose and foxes in the ticket) or any additional experiences you may decide to pay for. Like many people mentioned it is pricey, but caring for all these unique animals I'm sure doesn't come cheap. We paid for the additional socialized wolf interaction and it was amazing, I highly recommend it. For anyone who is an English speaking traveler or a non-Norwegian speaker, all signs and feeding presentations are in Norwegian. So be sure to have downloaded google translate ahead of time. Definitely an amazing once in a lifetime experience and would recommended if you have the time and funds to experience this great park.

Woodland zoo with bears, wolves & moose in outdoor enclosures, plus full-sized model dinosaurs.
Very nice and sunny day in Bear Park! Reasonable admission, especially with OBOS membership. Tickets are purchased online due to restrictions on number of people allowed in the park simultaneously. Recommend following the feeding program, as you get to know the animals better and are guaranteed to see them. The walk around the park is not too far. However, there are some steep hills and/or stairs. Take plenty of water on hot days as it can get very hot inside the park. The animals are truly remarkable and would come here again!
Silje A — Google review
It was amazing experience for kids and adults as well. I visited with my 2 year old son, 7 years old daughter and my wife. The park is very big and requires some hiking. Badebussen shows, dinosaurs land and badeland were highlights for my kids. Given the park was big, it was difficult to see many animals but we got good look at bear, crocodiles, snakes, wolves, and alpakka. Negative side was the park is amazingly expensive and if you’re going with kids stroller, expect some hiking up the hill. Can definitely recommend.
Suresh M — Google review
The Bear Park in Norway is a fantastic destination for a weekend trip with family. It offers a unique chance to see animals you normally wouldn’t encounter in their natural habitat in Norway. The enclosures are very spacious, which makes it feel close to the wild, but it also means that spotting the animals can sometimes be a matter of luck. That’s why it’s really important to check the feeding schedule in advance – during feeding times you’re almost guaranteed to see the animals up close. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to spend time outdoors, enjoy nature, and create lasting memories with your loved ones.
Karol C — Google review
Didn't expect the park to be so alive. In sp crazy hot weather, staff managed to bring out all of wild animals for public to see. Spend 3h in there. Super nice and friendly people around. With kids, it's one place you must go to. Highly suggest.
Danijs B — Google review
We visited the park during fall holiday. I was not sure weather it will be worth going but it turned to be a highlight of our trip. The park is built in a way that the animals can be observed in their real habitat. The feeding sessions are particularly exciting with the staff providing information about the animals, their habits etc. The advantage of visiting in October is that there were very few people in the park and that the trees look spectacular and add to the experience of the nature. Our 5 year old had the best time, despite some inconvenience of the rain. And so did we!
Marta W — Google review
Fabulous zoo. We followed a schedule and got loads of interesting information about the animals and even managed to feed the foxes ourselves. My granddaughter had a great time.
Robert G — Google review
We passed by the Bear Park almost every time we did a roadtrip in Norway and we were very intrigued to check it out. Safe to say we were a little disappointed. It’s good to keep in mind that the place is huge and on mountain tops, so there was a LOT of hiking to be done. In some places not even stroller friendly (even though the place is for kids). The animal feedings are pretty underwhelming, the bear is fed by a worker and we watch, so is the leopard. We only got to feed the red foxes, and because it was a large group inside, the experience was incredibly fleeting we didn’t feel like we had enough time to enjoy. The Kiwi outside the park was open on Sunday which was a plus. The only interactive parts were the farm (which could be found anywhere in Norway) and the crocodile aquarium. There was an indoor soft play area as well as a theatre for the kids which were nice.
Rahma F — Google review
This summer at the Bear park is special with Bukkene bruse show that making the day for my daughter. Dinosaurs are a pluss and look real. When you arrive the park, they will recommended you to follow their schedule of events. Feeding two brown bears and feeding fox are main animals show. The way to animals and places on the map are uphill. Don’t recommend with small weels of baby strollers. Some areas are very narrow and steep, so it is not suitable for who can’t walk long either. There has medium side of water park for kids. (Bring your own towels and swimsuits) The entrance/exit is colourfull of toys and souvenirs. Kids love this place but on a hot day we don’t likt it since they have fews space in the shade and not many seats.

Reasonable prices, very warm service across the lifts, restaurant, ski shop and Norefjellstua apartments). Great time to go in the second week of January as it was very quiet! Mostly sunny skies the four days we were there, and only got windy on the final day. Gentle slopes though getting from one lift to another took some planning. Our doggo loved the apartment too!
Eve Y — Google review
Rather disliked this resort, feels weak in comparison to other in the area (Gausta, Kvitfjell etc). Lifts are painfully slow, lots of T-bars, takes forever to get from bottom to the top. On a chill afternoon of blues and reds, logged 2.5h of lifts for 1h of riding. Lots of icy patches due to wind, snowmaking is not enough and when it calls for the snow cannons, they don't use them, yet in higher winds with natural snow they do, so the result was snow anywhere except on the slopes (just why?). Staff is super friendly, but also lack oversight of slopes, so people that would get their passes revoked elsewhere ride here without any consequences. At times feels like that some are just clueless about their job, but in fairness I had great conversations with most, so it's organisatsional issue rather than people one (so please, more training and guidance). First night ski of the season was very weak, with massive queues and ungroomed slopes, though there was time for that, some sections weren't even lit up, which caused minor accidents, at least ones that I saw. Passes themselves are rather among expensive ones, but I don't think you get the value here for the money. I want to like this resort, slopes/routes are decent, variety is genuinely good, friendly folks and beautiful views, but organisation is a real mess and technical side is super weak, which leads to lots of frustration among fellow visitors. As such, it's just not worth it - unless you live in the area, I guess. There are plenty of better (organisationally) resorts in the vicinity, where I'd suggest diverting to have a better experience.

Great skiing second week of January, we basically have the slopes for ourselves, got very lucky with sunny weather, there is not a crazy amount of slopes to do but they are quite good! Although there are very few chairlifts and a fun Austria-like atmosphere of the whole ski resort is non existent
Sebastian A — Google review
Didn't really get a chance to go skiing since I was trying to teach my kid but it looked like a super nice place with lots of slopes. I can tell you they have a special slope for sledding after the lifts close, which is cool
Anna A — Google review
Great place for wintersport especially with kids. Lots of blue slopes but also for more experienced skiing/snowboarding. No waiting lines at the lifts.
Floris S — Google review
Excellent for beginners and to teach your kids Alpine ski. The slopes are not steep and the black one is really wide. Amazing views for cross country ski

Close to oslo. Nice range of piste's. As someone told me "the longest run from top to bottom in norway" if that is fact I am not sure but my legs seemed to agree. The Afterski places are well spread out making it a bit difficult to carry on the party. There is a bus service to take you back to the spa hotel, but you can be waiting a while for it...

A lot of skiing and nice elevators. You get fast up and eaven faster down😜 nice place for kids and old people, experienced and unexperienced. You can go there and always be welcomed by the lice staff

Massive ski jump, built in 1936 & site of numerous world records & championship events since then.
Visited Ski Flying 19/03/23 Fantastic place to watch. You can get close to the jumpers for pictures and autographs. Top tip: The south grandstand tickets are just as good as VIP (but without the VIP extras).

Free exercise if you are up for 1078 stairs. Had to do 2 or 3 breaks in between to recover my breath. The restaurant at the bottom was a bit underwhelming and had the charme of a school canteen. If you bring a ball, there is an opportunity to play mini soccer in a cage. The zipline doesn't always operate on weekdays, except for the main holiday period in Norway, which is July and early August.

Have been here a couple of times. Walked down the steps in warm weather and was just there for Raw Air. Ski Flying is AMAZING! Well organized event for 15K people.

Interesting place for roadside geology. I found a lot of cambrian trilobites here! These are the fossiles of some kind of extinct marine artiopodan arthropod. And what a phantastic viewpoint!

Kjøsterudjuvet

Hiking area
Nature & Parks
Canyons
Kjøsterudjuvet, located within walking distance from Drammen center, offers a beautiful 10,000-year-old ravine with stone walls towering over 60 meters high. The area features a rugged countryside with thundering waterfalls and gorges, making it a must-visit destination in Drammen. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed walk through the canyon, but should be cautious of falling rocks and avoid entering during heavy rain or when there is excessive water in the stream.
Pretty fun and easy walk, but the cherry on top is definitely a lake at the end of the hike. Be sure you have good hiking shoes especially if there is more water, because it will be really slippery with runners or trainers. You can go back by the forest straightly to the parking spot.
Erika B — Google review
A great hike! Nature inside the canyon is amazing. Definitely with a visit! I highly recommend walking up within the canyon, and taking the woods on your way down.
Klaus S — Google review
2020.08 Visited the canyon on a Sunday. Had no problem with unpaid parking *     big parking spot under the cable car station *     about 8 spaces next to the gate *     16 spaces on the next road in line and on the sides of the road From the main road there is an about 800m walk up to the trail beginning (shutter road). When I was visiting there was a warning about entering the canyon (rocks falling spontaneously). There is a trail leading on the 'left' (western) side of the canyon within 50-100m of the canyon edge so you can peak in occasionally, but half the time trees obstruct clear view. Trail is short (1,5 km) and is ran quite naturally (no steps or man-made modifications). The trail running through the canyon is not very challenging for a fit person but be sure to take well impregnated shoes or water shoes. Even during dry time there are narrow points where you are not able to go through without stepping in a puddle. I personally discourage going there until the canyon is deemed safe again. I could see fresh massive piles of rock fall after a solid week of great sunny weather. At the top of the trail there is a quiet, clear lake where I believe you can swim. Lifebuoy x2 available and a pad for diving

Great hike in the Kjøsterudjuvet. Bevare if it has been raining it can be difficult to do. It is recommended to use a helmet.
Henrik G — Google review
Nice climb through the Kjøsterudjuvet. Good for kids, but under close supervision of an adult (1:1). At least one hour climbing, some steep bits with ropes and ladders. Don’t enter in heavy rain or when there is a lot of water in the stream. Mostly impossible to exit the canyon halfway.
Dan U — Google review
Awesome little mini adventure. Great little trip to get some experience. If you choose to walk the trails above the crovas, be very careful not to get to close to the edge. It's a long way down. You can hike up the gorge and reach the lake further up. Take aprx 40 min
Cesar R — Google review
A steep hike up, but worth it as you can take a swim in the lake before heading back down. Very cool gorge.

Drammen Spiral

Scenic spot
Sights & Landmarks
Drammen Spiral, also known as Spiralen, is a unique helix-shaped tunnel located in the hills just 2 kilometers from the city center. This popular attraction offers access to the surrounding hills and is a favorite spot for hikers and cross-country skiers in winter. The 1,650-meter long tunnel features six rising circles, resembling a multi-story parking lot, and leads to a summit 180 meters above the town on Skansen Ridge.
It's free, so no need to get anything except parking. The parking machine accepts only cards, so be careful with that. Absolutely breathtaking views and culture pieces.
Ada B — Google review
Beautiful location, overseeing all Drammen from the top of the hill. Keep in mind that if you walk by foot, it is a steep incline and not an easy stroll.
Evaldas B — Google review
The spiral is easily accessible. The drive thru the spiral tunnel is interesting but I was wondering why would someone build this It offers great views of the town , the valley and the sea below.
Andrea B — Google review
Nice place to hang out. Many benches, large parking lot. Has even a bar.
Ramūnas ( — Google review
The architecture is incredible. There's a road that leads to the top of the mountain, but it's not just any road - it's a breathtaking spiral road built inside a tunnel that cuts through the mountain. It takes you to the top in just a few minutes. It's an amazing experience!
ADNAN I — Google review
Nice view for Drammen city and fun to drive through spiral tunnel. Recommend 👍🏼
Nancy — Google review
Nice views of city, lots of hiking and trails around, possible to drive up to top
Unidentified M — Google review
Thai is a one-of-it’s-kind human ingenuity wonder that has to be experienced by anyone coming to the Oslo/Drammen region 🎉 It is the spiraling drive inside the mountain that forms an elevator which is so unique. You will be greeted by a family of Spiral Mountain Trolls inside the tunnel as Norwegian folk tales have numerous stories about such creatures. Then you reach the top and breathtaking views of the Drammen city and valley all year round🎉 From the (paid) parking lot you have a restaurant, restrooms and views. Additionally there is an outdoor museum a short walk further up the mountain. This is a fantastic starting point for walks on lit trails in nature. All this is accessible for both wheelchairs and prams. If you are adventurous and want to walk up to the Spiral View then you can use the “Zig-Zag” trail with several starting points at the base of the mountain. The bonus walking up or down the mountain are the views 🌸

Water & Amusement Parks
Drammensbadet is the largest water park in Norway, located in Drammen, a city known for its industrial and port activities. The water park offers a variety of indoor and outdoor pools suitable for both summer and winter visits, making it an ideal destination for families or groups of friends. Drammen itself has undergone a recent transformation that has brought attention to its various attractions. The swimming hall at Drammensbadet is relatively new, spacious, and easily accessible by car or public transportation.
Excellent facility with more than enough space for adults and kids. The staff are also very friendly and willing to go out of their way to help.

Very descent swimming hall for personal fitness and family leisure activities. I come here with sons quite often due to the variety of pools. I also come here to swim laps. There are 5 swimming pools catering the little ones all the to the more athletic 50m pool to shallow water pool catering to the more fragile of swimmers. There are also 2 water slides. Changing rooms are well kept with options for family type changing rooms. Light foods are also served. There is gym as well.
Zack D — Google review
Can we start by saying the lack of empathy from some of the people who works in here ? I came with my son and I asked one of the people who works as a course teacher if I can borrow a toy so my son could play with me she said and I’m quoting “ nei” we don’t borrow stuffs. So I asked one of the lifeguard girls if I could and she said of course !!! Also, please make it easy for mothers who go with babies. Easy in the sense of the entrance in the changing rooms maybe a changing table? Also, don’t be rude. I don’t know why I got the sense of discrimination in here. I won’t ever come back here also the fact that it is expensive sorry won’t even come back and I won’t ever recommend a mom to come here!
Gabriela P — Google review
Ends up to get pretty busy but I really enjoy the 50m pool. The main issues here are the changing rooms and facilities in general, they're worn out. You also better had bring some coins for the locker because they dont have the nice electronic band system like the other swimming pools in this part of Norway.
Maximilian H — Google review
Terrible food, stay away. Fries+simple sausage for 94 NOK. Tasted awful, and as a bonus we got sick when returnering home.. Showers cannot be temperature controlled. Way too hot for small kids (40C+). Obs! No soap available in showers. Not many Norwegians to spot, although quite pricy. No-one seemed to follow the wash rules before entering the pool, despite visual illustration and translation to English. Decent pool activities, however a bit crowded.
Andreas C — Google review
We paid a lot of money for so many facilities that were 'out of order'. Some area was limited for use since there was swimming course going on every hour. This is winter vacation and many of us travelled from Oslo and further, so thumbs down to Drammensbadet.
Sofia I — Google review
Great place. Not so clothes norse girls. No beers. One need to pay 50 krones to access a bar where alcohol is allowed. The normal enter fee is Kr150.
Marcelo D — Google review
A relatively recently constructed swimming hall, large and airy and easily accessible with car and public transportation (the train station is 10 minutes walk away). Has several swimming pools (both indoor and outdoor), water slides, jacuzzis, a small restaurant and a fitness centre. A good place to take the kids on a boring Sunday afternoon.

Kistefos Museum

Temporarily Closed
Modern art museum
Museums
Kistefos Museum, located in Hadeland, Norway, is a unique destination that combines nature and culture. The museum features an old paper factory with machinery on display, an outdoor sculpture exhibit, and an art gallery. One of its main attractions is the spectacular museum building called The Twist. Visitors can enjoy the unity of nature and art while exploring the large contemporary art museum and admiring memorable sculptures and outdoor art pieces, including a striking eye with waterfalls.
Lovely place for a visit—perfect for a relaxing afternoon just wandering around. The setting is beautiful, and the mix of nature and contemporary art is really well done. I especially loved the gallery at The Twist bridge—it's peaceful, beautifully designed, and filled with thought sculptures. If you're into art, some pieces really make you stop and think. Admission for adults is 200 NOK, and parking near the entrance is 85 NOK. However, there’s free parking available a bit further away if you're up for a short walk. Definitely recommended! Makes sure you check opening hours, before you come.
Anit B — Google review
This is a gem. Indeed best visited during rather nice weather, at least not rain as most of the experience is had outdoors. Art scattered about in lovely natural surroundings with the unique aspect of a large, but quiet river running through the whole area. Easily count 2-3 hours for the full stroll along the path and the few indoor exhibitions, including a coffee break. The lack of a 5th star is simply because it would have been nice with a better cup of coffee, not just the cultural Norwegian powder version served from a thermos.
Paal S — Google review
Wonderful museum covering a huge surface with both inside and outside spaces. While we did not find the exhibitions of outstanding quality, the balance between historical insights into the former buildings with the modern installations worked very well in our opinion. We also enjoyed how everyone could enjoy the museum in their own way, going for a stroll, sitting down in the grass or actively going from artwork to artwork. Would recommend!
Casper B — Google review
The ticket costs 200 for adults and children up to 19 are free. Senior discount as well. The park and Musuem is huge with monument pieces all over and small gallery houses. The cafe and kids playground make it fun for all.

Lovely place. Went there on a rainy weekend. If you appreciate and enjoy art, its a nice place to visit. I like the architecture. Its amazing to see the structure. I liked the fountain most.
Ajith R — Google review
This place has improved since they introduced a fantastic fountain area which is perfect for kids especially on a hot day. There are water spraying jets coming from the ground and children can run through them freely. It is advisable to wear water shoes because there are some pebbles lying around inside. All around surrounding the fountain area is a kind of mirror maze which is pretty fun to walk through especially if you are a narcissist. Around the rest of the gardens, there are lots of big sculptures to see, a cafe, playground and temporary indoor exhibitions as well. Also, you can visit the historic logging factory buildings if you like industrial history as well. There are permanent sculptures outside and then the indoor areas have temporary exhibitions. Some of which can sometimes be a bit weird, while others are more interesting. Of course, the centerpiece is the Twist Gallery, designed by Denmark's rebel architect Bjark Ingels. I always find the art that they choose to exhibit here is not really to my taste. It's always modern art in any case, Which I sometimes enjoy, but haven't ever seen anything in the twist that was to my taste. Anyway, I think most of the visitors here are just interested in the overall experience and you could basically put a banana tape to the wall inside the Twist and no one would really care. Wait a minute…, that's not a bad idea….. 🍌 Also, if you are local, give your address and you get in FREE!!! Season passes! 🤘🏻

Shopping village for handcrafted glassware & china with a glassworks & regular glass blowing demos.
This place is like santa's little workshop. You can explore the art of glass blowing and purchase the various pieces. They also have tax free options for tourists. There is an ample play area for children and lots of activities to keep them engaged. Do visit the pizzeria and the little quaint cafe.

An exceptionally interesting, culturally stimulating, artistically enriching and historical! So exciting to watch the beauty of each unique piece being formed by expert crafters. Prices are Reasonable and the craft is so beautiful.

Hadeland Glassverk was founded in 1762, still in the period of the union between Denmark and Denmark and has been making glass articles ever since. You will have the chance to see the glassmakers work. Perhaps even make your own glass item! Before the existence of the factory, this location was a farm and you still can feel that atmosphere in the air. The area is scenic, close to the fjord, surround by forest, children friendly and accessible to all. Worth to go and stay half-day, or even a full day, if you are not in a hurry. Great place for souvenirs and not just made of glass! You will find parking, toilets, coffee shops and restaurants there as well. If you don’t have a car, worry not. There is a bus going there early. Definitely recommend it!!!

Loved our trip here. It's not just a glass shop. They have a bunch of little structures with shopping, food and gifts. Beautiful view and really family friendly. Kids were playing in the fountain and haveling a blast. We were able to watch the glass makers blow glass and they even let us try blowing glass. We spent about an hour and a half here. What a great place.

We drove 5 hours from Flåm to try and make it before demos were over, but we arrived 15 min before closing. 😞 I had been looking forward to it being the last thing we did on our 9 day Norway road trip. We only got to walk in briefly and look around. It was empty. Thankfully, a lady in the neighboring glass store (I think the outlet of “mistakes”) invited us in to look around while they were closing up. Really nice pieces! Maybe some day we’ll be able to come back.

Nestled in the outskirts of Oslo, the Henie Onstad Art Center is a striking building that serves as a hub for modern European art. Visitors have described their experience as incredibly fortunate, with the opportunity to enjoy Yayoi Kusama's 'Infinity Mirror Room' in solitude, free from time constraints and crowds. The museum houses a permanent collection and hosts frequent temporary exhibits, such as the captivating woven sculptures of Polish artist Magdalena Abakonwicz.
I had the 72 Oslo Pass so I got in free. I'm a massive Kusuma fan, hence, my visit. Had the room to myself. There's a Jean Arp in the upstairs collection and a Sonja Henie room, too. Yes, bus stop is on the motorway. It wasn't an issue.

Henie Onstad Art Centre in Høvik is a wonderful place to visit if you enjoy modern art, calm surroundings, and beautiful views. The location by the Oslofjord is stunning, and the outdoor sculpture park adds a unique experience — perfect for a peaceful walk before or after exploring the exhibitions. Inside, the gallery spaces are bright, spacious, and very well organized. Exhibitions change often and include a mix of modern, contemporary, and experimental art, so there’s always something new to see. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is relaxed — great for both adults and kids. The café is another highlight, with good food and amazing views of the water. Parking is convenient and access is easy. Overall, a great combination of art + nature + good food.

Henie Onstad Art Center is a hidden gem just outside Oslo, perfect for those looking to escape the city crowds and immerse themselves in contemporary art. As a Yayoi Kusama fan, this was an unforgettable experience. The center houses some of her iconic works, including immersive installations that play with light, mirrors, and color in ways that are both playful and deeply moving. Unlike more crowded Kusama exhibitions around the world, here you can take your time, reflect quietly, and truly absorb the details. Set beautifully by the Oslofjord, the museum’s location adds to the calm and contemplative atmosphere. The surrounding nature, combined with the clean, minimalist architecture, enhances the art-viewing experience. There’s also a lovely café and sculpture park, making it easy to spend half a day here. What sets Henie Onstad apart is its balance of world-class art and peaceful surroundings. It’s not overrun by tourists, so you’re free to engage with the works in a personal and meaningful way. Whether you’re a Kusama devotee or simply enjoy contemporary art in a serene setting, this center is a must-visit when in Norway.
