A lovely sea front. We were there during low tide and could walk quite a bit into the beach/sea. All sorts of beach games were on and surfer folks were getting ready to get in and surf when the surf was just going up. Amazing evening spent. The cafe by the beach is also good.

Gorgeous sandy beach & clear blue sea. Went for a paddle & it wasn't too cold actually. Last time I was here was over 30 years ago but it was still as beautiful as I remembered. Could do with a decent ice cream seller close to the beach but we found one after a short walk away from the beach. Great to see so many people enjoying the beach & the water

We recently attended the wedding of our Son and his fiancée at The Tunnels and had the most incredible experience from start to finish. Our family stayed in the Woodlands 9-bedroom accommodation, which was perfect for such a special occasion. The property was immaculate on arrival – spotless throughout – and felt both luxurious and homely. The kitchen was particularly impressive, equipped with a large oven, dishwasher, and two fridge freezers, making it ideal for group catering. The shared balcony and spacious patio were lovely spaces to gather and enjoy time together. The wedding venue itself is simply stunning, set over three floors and overlooking a private beach that gave the whole day a magical, exclusive feel. The layout was thoughtfully designed, making the celebrations flow seamlessly. The food was absolutely amazing – plentiful, beautifully presented, and with a great selection to suit all tastes. What really stood out were the venue hosts. They were friendly, helpful, and exceptionally well-organised, ensuring that everything ran smoothly so we could relax and enjoy the day. Beyond the wedding, we were pleasantly surprised by how much there was to explore nearby. Ilfracombe harbour is charming, with lots of independent shops, bars, and restaurants, while the surrounding area offers plenty of beautiful beaches within walking distance or a short drive. Overall, The Tunnels is a breathtaking venue in a perfect location, with outstanding accommodation and staff who go above and beyond. A truly unforgettable experience – highly recommended

We went on a terrible rainy day during Whitsun School holidays. This meant some outdoor activities were not available (but there was an option to come back when it's dry). However, the activities that were running made for a great day. The Sheep show with the different breeds was interesting and very funny for little kids and adults (listen out for why Bob the sheep is called Bob). Same goes for the Duck Trials. The barn had the stars of the sheep show and many other animals to feed and pet. It's definitely worth buying bags of animal food. The indoor play area with slides and soft play, etc. was perfect for our grandson. I expected to be fleeced by the price of food (fleeced, get it),but I wasn't. It was good and reasonably priced. This is great for a rainy day. I would imagine it would still be great for a dry day too.

Love taking my youngest into Porthcawl he’s never not amused… not only do you have the beach and lengthy coastline not to mention the local celebrity Lizzie…there’s also the fun fair (seasonal hours) but not for much longer as it’s closing altogether…there’s the hi-tide restaurant which is fab plus many other food options along with the arcades plus the town centre within walking distance..great place what’s not to love

Great experience and some great views around the railway. Lining up may take some time as it is very popular, well worth s ride down the cliff to the bottom and then a nice area to walk around. Payments are taken at the bottom when you get off if you started at the top.

Beautiful gardens. We caught the rose festival & the rose garden area was absolutely stunning. All of the formal garden "rooms" had their own charm & beauty. I love a water feature so the area with the stream running through was one of my favourites. The staff we encountered were all friendly, especially the lady who greeted us on arrival. Lots of benches throughout the gardens to sit & enjoy the different views & sounds. The gardens were alive with insects, especially butterflies. My only criticism is the restaurant - the system could be better. You pick up a menu & choose a table but it took quite a while for a waiter to come & take our order & then a long time to bring the order out. We only ordered Devon cream teas & they didn't come put together so all they had to do was put 4 scones onto plates with a bit of cream & jam on the side, make a pot of tea & a decaf latte. The cafe wasn't especially busy at this point & our order was simple so we wondered how it took so long. Well done on doing a variety of decaf coffees though & the scones were delicious

Enchanting former hunting lodge, set on the powerful river, with great tea room and wonderful walks. We stopped for a quick drink whilst on our way from Barbrook to Lynmouth, along a recognised path. Although sometimes uneven, it is well signposted, and follows the riverbank closely. There are some lovely landscape pictures to be taken along here. Coffee was good, the size was large, and the canned drinks were ice cold, a welcome refreshment after some of the steeper parts of the walks down to the lodge. A small reminder that the car park is not National Trust which means having to buy a ticket even if one is a member.

Wow! So this is my new favourite place and I so wish it was closer to me as we live in Cornwall. We have been wanting to visit for a while as my daughter is called Honey and loves all things bees so we treated her after SATS week. We had such a lush day, the place is small but so well thought out and all the activities and talks are delivered excellently with lots of oppourtunities to ask questions. We loved watching the beekeepers with the bees and learning about beekeeping and the candle making was fun. All of your staff were the high point, friendly and knowledgeable and a well done to the new team member learning the ropes who was so sweet. My kids ages 11 and 8 had a great time and I had a great time in the gift shop. Kicking myself now that I didn't buy a bee throw! Lol. Thanks for an amazing day out. .highly recommended:)

Fantastic place to visit for the whole family and all ages. Adults can ride with children on fairground rides from the bygone era. Complete with museum, gift shop and cafe. Buy your ticket once and come back as often as you like for a year!! Great value

Such a lovely village, and the structure itself is breathtaking. It's been renovated several times over the years so it's more of a modern old-school mansion as opposed to an old castle (husband is more interested in Norman castles), but it was still really cool to walk around and the views were absolutely amazing. The village itself has so much charm too.

Saltram is a must visit NT. The house is just wow. Every room you enter is just better than the previous one. The room guides are really happy to talk and answer any questions. The gardens are also really easy to walk around and really peaceful. There is also a beautiful chapel cafe and again the staff were so helpful. One of my favourite properties for sure.

The park is nice and consise, easy to reach from the local holiday parks, with a large selection of rides for all ages. The free entry/credit/wristband system is ideal for this type of fun park. Reasonable prices online reduction also. Worth it. Its a pity 3 big rides were not operating, Astro Storm in particular was disappointing not to experience. However, the five stars is for 2 staff members in particular. CALLIE the operator of Wipe Out was a sheer joy, fun, happy and really enthusiastic. Encouraging her to extend our ride cycle was funny, and hopefully she didnt get told off too much. She also helped retreiving my daughters soft toy prize which accidentally blew under the ride. DAZ, one of the managers arrived to save the item and make my daughter happy. Excellent service and understanding from both these first rate staff members, give them both a bonus!!!

We had our wedding at Dartmoor zoo in September 2025. Jade was very warm and welcoming and from the start made it a much less stressful experience. She answered questions and came up with solutions promptly. The team were accommodating with setting up our wedding and also clearing up after. We had an absolutely amazing wedding day and our guest all had a fantastic time. The meet the meerkats and falconry made it such a memorable day for everyone involved.

The number 1 activity from my children's perspective, during our visit to Torbay. They loved the trails, they especially loved the waterfalls and the mini zoo is an extra (although I personally felt the macaw needed a friend, it looks very lonely). Dog loved it too, will definitely go back. I know I went as a child, so it's great to have a beautiful spot for generations to keep enjoying.

Love architecture and history and this is perfect place for me to visit. Amazing Cathedral that has a history of over 1000 years going back to the Saxon times. This cathedral is one of those historical places which are well preserved medieval stone vaulted ceiling. Firstly the church was constructed over 1000 years ago by saxons, and after many changes over the times as well as air raided by Nazis in WW2. Didn’t get a chance to look around inside because of construction work going on. There’s much to look around because every corner is full of sculptures and monuments. Specially i like the front of cathedral and around with 1000 sculptures on display giving you an amazing look of this building. There’s an astronomical clock very like the one in Prague. These days entry is just £5 which is nothing what you get. Its one of the must see landmark in Devon. If you’re in Exeter then try not to miss.

Our first visit to Hestercombe. It's been on our list to visit for ages. Very lovely staff at the entrance. Explained everything we needed to know. The gardens were lovely. Unfortunately it's been so dry that they are looking a bit parched. It didn't spoil our enjoyment though. Map is easy to read. Be aware that a lot of the trails are quite hilly and rough under foot so not suitable if you have mobility issues. There are however trails that are suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs etc. We didnt use the café as we brought our own food. The café is independently run. All in all a lovely few hours wander.

This was a surprise stop on a simple Saturday free time. The outside lures you in, a castle but a humble, clean, inviting one. The courtyard was charming and the gift shop was nice. It was fascinating to learn the history of the area I had explored for a while now. The staff were prideful and enthusiastic, helpful, and there was way more to see than expected - the history was rich, rebellious, tragic, charming. I do hope to return during special events and seasons.

First ever visit to Crealy, what a fab place. Even though the weather in the morning was a mix of torrential rain and sun and we were skeptical of how successful the day would be, there was so much to do to suit all weathers and the kids X2 (and us adults x4) had he best time. Facilities were amazing, everything was very clean and tidy and rides are clearly well maintained. There were multiple different options for food and the pizzas and jackets potatos were delicious. We had the best day and will definitely be back again! Thank you for giving us an amazing family day out.

Having never been before, we saw a post on YouTube about this place. We thought it would be a good place to go to for a couple of hours. We went on a Friday when they had the night opening for the model illumination. Amazing! We walked around during the day so we were able to see the brilliant models in daylight. If you take the time to really look , you can see the details of every model. You also see the puns that are all around the park. Everything is lovely here, in the daylight and the inside displays are something else. Beautiful and ethereal. It's totally different during the night when all the models are illuminated by street lighting,car lights and lights in the model properties. Make sure you see the Tiny British Cake Off with the presenters old and new! There's a small mini golf to play for free as well. Café great choices, had the plant based pepperoni pizza, fabulous. Definitely worth visiting. We are going to be visiting again.

Me and my family really enjoyed our day here. Definitely enough animals to make a day out for the family. My kids loved the seeing all the animals but the giraffes, crocodiles and monkey's definitely stood out for us. Maps need updating for toilets as we found some in a different area than listed. Enjoyed the play areas, food areas and a little win a teddy section. Also enjoyed a lovely icecream. Would recommend!

Beautiful place and well worth the hairpin bends on the way up. The views are breathtaking and the gardens are well thought out. The mrytle trees are stunning and the agapanthus are glorious. Loved the bespoke handrails throughout gardens and the banana garden is like being in a tropical country. If you need any inspiration for your garden...go!

This was an amazing day out! We had Amelia as our tour guide and she was brilliant. So many punny jokes 🤣 she had so much knowledge about the caves and made learning about it fun. We will come again just to ask her more questions! Definitely a brilliant place to go especially when it's raining! The Woodland trail was not buggy friendly, so we weren't able to go around this unfortunately. It looked nice from where we were standing though.

Excellent facilities, very dog friendly. Lovely walk in good weather. Enjoyed seeing Donkeys in nice surroundings; very well cared for and loved. Gorgeous coffee and cake in the cafe too.

Lovely old world attraction that takes you through some picturesque countryside and ends up in the town of Colyton which is a nice place to wander around and grab some lunch. I would say not really suited to older children, but good day out for the family and you can get on and off all you like at other stops and make a full day of it! Well worth a visit!

Charmouth is a fantastic base for walkers. The South West Coast Path runs right through the village, offering a variety of trails. You can take a scenic, albeit steep, walk up Golden Cap for breathtaking panoramic views of Lyme Bay. For a less strenuous option, a circular walk between Charmouth and Lyme Regis offers beautiful coastal and countryside views. You can even walk directly along the beach to Lyme Regis at low tide, which is a popular and rewarding trek. Just be sure to check tide times to avoid being cut off.
