Vera Falls is a stunning waterfall tucked away in the verdant hills of Malinao, Albay. This enchanting spot serves as a tranquil retreat for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Surrounded by lush vegetation, Vera Falls features a delightful swimming hole that invites visitors to take a refreshing dip while enjoying the serene ambiance. The journey to this hidden gem is accompanied by the soothing sounds of water cascading down, creating an atmosphere perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Very nice falls to visit. Be sure that your car is road worthy for the drive up. The road wasn’t perfect. Bring water with you and don’t forget to clean up after yourself. Lots of stairs; not suitable for the elderly.
Aman B — Google review
The scenery was nice and refreshing, but the only problem was the caretaker—an old, grumpy man who scolded us for something we had no idea about. My crew was very disappointed and didn’t really enjoy the rest of the stay.
Jobert C — Google review
This is the most beautiful falls ever I see on Bicol region, beautiful yet there’s a precaution since boulders might fall on sides.
Joshua A — Google review
Very nice place. Malinis ang tubig at sobrang ganda na lugar. Very affordable for the price of "10pesos" entrance fee only you will experience this kind of falls it is truly amazing. We'll surely visit again. 🙂 #DavidP
David P — Google review
For only 10 pesos you can refresh your mind in this falls, all are fresh water so expect it's colder than you know. The challenging part in this spot is the stairs going up & down giving yourself a little warm up before you go to swim. They also offer a cottage which prices go to 200+, but for us we just sit on the rocks😂 Has a parking lot spaces, need to pay for a fee. From Centro Tabaco to Vera Falls will take 1 hour & 30 minutes depending on what vehicle you ride.
Jose B — Google review
Nice medium to high falls right above Mt Malinao Crystal clear waters. 7 kilometers uphill from the main highway
Elmo B — Google review
You are in for a treat of a cold water here. The place is in the mountainous area which is surprisingly accessible by a ride with high ground clearance such as AUV/SUV/trucks. Sedans will have difficulty going here. The place is sorrounded by a good vegetation and trees. Lots of abacas along the way. Its very beautiful in here and you will surely promise yourself to come again.
Joselito F — Google review
Unique experience, the drive is long and tedious, you pass villages, rivers, gully’s and a basketball court. The waterfall itself is very impressive, clean, water temperature is refreshing. Really liked the water springs beside the waterfall itself. Great trip with the bike, will be difficult with a car.

Hot Springs & Geysers
Nestled at the base of Mt. Isarog, Panicuason Hot Springs Resort is a tranquil retreat offering simple accommodations and a range of natural pools. The resort features an infinity pool, four hot springs with temperatures between 25 to 39 degrees Celsius, and even cold spring water from the Inarihan River. Entrance fees are reasonable, starting at P200 during the day and P250 at night.
jA Refreshing Escape at Panicuason Hot Spring Resort! I recently visited Hot Spring Panicuason Resort, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! Nestled in the lush greenery of Mt. Isarog, the resort offers a perfect mix of nature and relaxation. The natural hot spring pools were clean, soothing, and just what I needed to unwind and de-stress. What I loved most was the peaceful atmosphere — surrounded by trees, fresh mountain air, and the sound of flowing water. It's a great place to disconnect from the hustle and recharge. They also offer activities like zip-lining and trekking for those who want a bit of adventure. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the whole place was well-maintained. Whether you're with family, friends, or a special someone, Panicuason is definitely worth the trip. Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in Naga City!
Ivan S — Google review
We recently booked a room for four at Panicuason Hot Spring Resort and would like to share our experience with the hope that it helps improve future visits for other guests. Upon arrival, we noticed that the room was not as clean as expected. There was a noticeable amount of dust on the double-deck bed and the floor needed more attention. The pathway leading to the room was also untidy, which affected our overall first impression. Additionally, we found the food to be quite expensive for its quality. For example, a simple scrambled egg was priced at ₱65, which felt a bit high considering the portion and taste. We believe improving the food quality or adjusting the prices to better reflect the value would greatly enhance the dining experience. Lastly, we observed that some areas around the resort, especially along the pathways, had scattered litter. A bit more attention to cleanliness throughout the premises would definitely make the surroundings more enjoyable and relaxing for all guests. We truly appreciate the resort’s natural setting and its potential to offer a refreshing experience. With a few improvements in cleanliness and food service, we believe Panicuason Hot Spring Resort can provide a much more comfortable and satisfying stay for everyone.

The location is good, Poor cellular Signal. You need to buy wifi voucher which are a little bit pricey. There are a lot of activities you can do. Good for Company Outing or Family Gathering. Also, good place to unwind and chill. Rooms are nice and cozy. The Hot Springs are great!
Gersohn B — Google review
We've been coming here for years and we absolutely love that there's a different range of temperatures for the different mini hotspring pools! It Feels so good to dip from warm to warmer and then dip in the cold pool to cool off then start all over again! It's quite a steep drive to get to though and you can easily spend 30 mins just waiting for people to drive through before you can drive into or out of the place. Also, there are tiny little bugs called Nok noks that u can barely see but u will feel their bites and make your skin feel really itchy. It would be nice to have toilet paper in the public bathrooms. There's a lot of fun activities you can try too like the tree bikes. Overall, I still think the place is worth it. We intend to keep coming back.
Nurse S — Google review
One of the attraction that everyone should visit if someone is visiting the City of Naga. This resort has been around for more than two decades already and it has been improved and renovated ever since. This resort is unique because it has 3 hot pools with varying temperatures for you to relax and dip on. It also has two cold pools if you're not a fan of hot springs. Rooms are also available if you wanna stay overnight. Other activities that you could try are ziplining and zipbiking, there is also an infinity pool where you can bask in the sunset. There is also a fully organic mini restaurant and coffee shop where you can order signature Bicolano dishes.
Leo A — Google review
Spent the day at the Panicuason Hot Spring resort. Really enjoyed the hot water as it was relaxing. Pleasantly surprised with the option of cold water, 39 degree water, 34 degree water and 32 degree water options.

No aircon,no tv,ants, ni internet, cockroaches in room, room too hot even with electric fans, hallway water flowing nonstop, for the fees is not worth it. Restaurant closes early so bring in your own food they charge you for bringing food. The helper's and restaurant workers are wonderful people.

Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia

Mentioned on
3 lists
Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is a significant pilgrimage site in Naga City, with a sizable basilica adorned with stained-glass windows and oil paintings. It is one of two churches dedicated to the Lady of Peñafrancia in the city. The basilica is popular among travelers and pilgrims, offering a solemn and memorable experience. Visitors can also access an upstairs shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary for prayer.
One of the largest churches I've ever visited, and a truly solemn place. You can even go upstairs to pray at a shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary. A local mentioned that during special celebrations, like feast days, the queue can be very long and may take hours. There's also a massive parking area outside and a store where you can buy religious items
Aaron F — Google review
Visiting the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia was an unforgettable, deeply moving experience. From the moment you approach the magnificent facade—its graceful arches and ornate details—you can feel centuries of devotion woven into the stone. Inside, the soaring ceilings and vibrant stained‑glass windows create a serene, almost otherworldly glow, making it an ideal place for quiet reflection. The shrine’s history stretches back to the 18th century when the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia first took root in the hearts of the faithful. Over the years, it has grown from a simple chapel into this grand basilica, formally elevated to a minor basilica in the late 20th century. Everywhere you look, you see evidence of loving care—from the polished marble floors to the gleaming brass candlesticks—that speaks to its importance as a spiritual home. What really touched me was the dedicated congregation of priests and lay volunteers who keep everything running so smoothly. They’re always ready with a warm smile, guiding newcomers, organizing services, and sharing the history and significance of each sacred space. And just beside the church stands a peaceful convent where a community of nuns lives and prays—many of whom you’ll see tending the gardens or quietly lighting candles. Their presence adds an extra layer of devotion and warmth to the whole place. Between the well‑maintained grounds, the sense of order during busy pilgrimage days, and the genuine kindness of everyone you meet, it truly feels like a sanctuary of faith, hope, and love. I left with my heart full and my spirit uplifted—this is a must‑visit for anyone seeking a beautiful, welcoming place to connect with God and community.

This is my first stop on my pilgrimage to Naga City in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. After living abroad for so long, it is a true blessing for my spiritual faith to once again feel the presence of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. This is one of the main reasons I’m returning home to Bicol.

Super ganda ng church na to. Plus points pa dito yung mga bench nila na nasa field. Perfect pahanginan early in the morning or late in the afternoon. It's very peaceful here. It's a highly recommended place to visit when you're a first timer here in Naga City.
Kimberly M — Google review
It is one of the few places in Naga City suitable for jogging and walking. It takes about 10 minutes to walk a lap. Although it is prohibited on Sundays, many people exercise there Monday through Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. Toilets cost 5 pesos.

Alibijaban Island

Island
Nature & Parks
Alibijaban Island, located off the southeastern coast of Bondoc Peninsula in the Philippines, is a small and protected island known for its pristine mangrove forests, coral reefs, and diverse bird populations. This hidden gem offers a serene beach experience with its long stretches of semi-fine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters.
Very beautiful white sand beach and worth visiting. The crystal clear water and beautiful mangrove trees are stunning.
RoseT S — Google review
Alibijaban Island boasts stunning white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. The views are breathtaking, with lush mangroves and picturesque coastal landscapes. The beaches are pristine and relatively untouched, providing a serene environment perfect for relaxation and unwinding.
Gmark J — Google review
If you’re looking for a place that feels untouched and unbothered by city chaos, Alibijaban Island in San Andres, Quezon is a hidden gem you’ll definitely fall in love with. It’s one of those islands where time slows down — literally no malls, no big resorts, no loud bars — just white sand, crystal-clear water, and the sound of waves all day long. Getting there takes a bit of effort (around 8–10 hours from Manila depending on traffic and bus schedules), but once you step foot on the island, it’s totally worth it. The beach is clean, the water is insanely clear, and the vibe is super chill. Locals are friendly and accommodating too — most homestays are run by residents who’ll treat you like family. There’s not much in terms of luxury — electricity runs on a schedule, signal’s spotty, and you’ll have to bring your own snacks or buy from small sari-sari stores. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. It’s the kind of place where you disconnect from everything digital and just enjoy being present — swimming, watching the sunset, or lying on the sandbar doing absolutely nothing. Don’t miss the mangrove area — it’s peaceful and great for kayaking or taking photos. If you’re into snorkeling, there are also coral spots nearby with colorful marine life. You can even go island-hopping to Burias if you have extra time. Overall, Alibijaban is perfect for those who crave simplicity and solitude. It’s not fancy, but it’s beautiful in its raw, natural way. I’d go back in a heartbeat — maybe with a tent, a few friends, and zero plans.
Eugine P — Google review
Alibijaban Island is such a hidden gem — peaceful, raw, and breathtakingly beautiful. The white sand and crystal-clear waters make it feel untouched and pure, like a little slice of paradise. It’s quiet and simple, perfect if you’re looking to disconnect and slow down for a while. The locals are warm and welcoming, and camping by the beach while watching the sunrise and stars at night is an unforgettable experience. It’s not the most accessible island, but the serenity and natural beauty make the trip worth it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — stunning views, calm atmosphere, and the kind of place that makes you fall in love with island life. 🌊✨
March P — Google review
A very beautiful island, The sand is so soft, the water is crystal clear, A good place where you want to spend your summer :) Many first to this island, sleeping on a tent beside the shore, a 30 min ride from the port going to the island. and see a crab crawling on the sand (amazing🙌)
Roan G — Google review
Worth it, nice sand, clear water, nice people. They're accommodating. Not pricey meals. No resort on the island, just residents because the island itself is a barangay. We travelled 8 hours from pagsanjan, coz of 🛑 over. We had to rest and take pictures in each barangay while travelling.
Day R — Google review
Peaceful place, great for camping. You need a boat going here, just rent af the port, travel time is approx 30mins from mainland. Island has no air that much because of the mountain in front. Better to go during cold season, December - February. We went here summer time and it’s really hot even at night. Stores are everywhere where you can find everything you need especially alcoholic drinks but expect pricey rates. You pay for water for bathroom. There is a plenty of resort here offering accommodation, non A/C since the island is solared power/generator. You can rent for tent or beddings. beach area is good, island hopping is also available and floating cottages with slides nearby where you can hang out and relax, bring food and drinks!
Audrey N — Google review
Gotta love the crystal clear water here. And the white sand. Though in the beach, there are bits of crushed shells. The sandbar offers finer sands and mangrove trees. Lots of starfish near the shore too. Be careful not to step on sea urchins. There is no stable supply of electricity in the island. They have generators though. Fresh water is collected by a generator-powered pump, so you can't get them for free. Ice is expensive too. Anything else is cheap here - accommodation, boat ride, and floating cottage.

This beach is so much better than that one in Baler, Aurora. Wider and cleaner. The sand is just so so so soft. There weren't any rocks.
李カーミ — Google review
Nice breeze and sunrise in the morning, at night a bit dark. Waves makes super chill sounds. The beach is full of ocean debris, I recommend to stay at the concrete barrier if you are just there for sightseeing.

We went to this beach only to access the boat that will bring us to Calaguas island. There were several locals playing and using the beach to relax. On our way back from Calaguas, we drove along the beach. It is one of the longest bay walks in the country. The beach is relatively clean. The tide can be quite strong.

Borawan Island Resort offers a serene beach escape with simple yet comfortable accommodations including permanent tents, rooms, and a house. The resort is surrounded by lush flora such as coconut trees and features clean facilities. Guests can enjoy boat tours to explore the beach's unique rock formations. First, I just want to say. The owner and his family were so friendly an amazing. The food was delicious, and the views were magical. But this is an honest review, so here I go. This place should be called a campground, not a resort. The bathroom conditions were disgusting to me. Self flush toilets, outside showers with no privacy. Manny times I used the bathroom. An I had to hold my pants up from laying in gross toilet water. But I'm no princess, so this was still ok to me. I draw the line at them, not having toilet papper or a boudet this was my first time ever cleaning with my hand. The food was delicious but expensive. The tent was a miserable exspirence, and the cabins were extremely overpriced. All this being said, I still had a fun time. I did book it for a week and only stayed 3 days. But it was a fun 3 days. The owner cut me a deal when he found out I was a content creator. He took me and the wifey out for a magical boat ride. Once they put a little more effort into the upkeep of this place. I'd give it a better rating for sure. If ur a simple person like me you will definitely enjoy it. But maybe don't try to stay a whole week in a tent there. An bring toilet papper you will need it. Check out my full video review on Tictok yesdaddy8004

Traveled from Cavite to experience the campsite (not a resort) here. Good ambience and view. We stayed overnight for overpriced but that’s fine for us just to experience the vibe. This camp is good for a whole night session with good friends. For me rooms are also expensive, even the fan room. It cost you 2,000 for a room of 2 with A FAN ONLY! And the worst is somebody took our camping chair while we are sleeping. We look around thinking someone borrows it but we never found the same as ours. Cr is just a bit far. And btw there’s a lot of dogs but they’re very friendly. I thought this place is safe. “Akala ko lang pala” 😬. Never again This should be called a campsite not a resort tho. This should need a lot of improvement.
Yhana L — Google review
The scene and ambience is calming. White sands, and the water is clear. The drive here can be perilous but it’s worth it. The staff are very accommodating. There’s not much signal here though. Lots of dogs as well. They live here. They don’t bite, very chill.
Karoll T — Google review
Very friendly caretakers, very clean place, safe, secured. The waters are very calm and the skies are amazing. Will come back again with family and friends!
Peter ( — Google review
It was good not worth the money and travel tho. It was very pricey especially the rooms and services there are many activities to do like kayaking and banana boating... We drove at least 10 km to get there.... The room was worth 4,800(for 4 ppl) and there wasn't even any chairs or TVs or tissues... The sand was great tho it was clean. The stay was only up to 11 am overnight but we came in a huge group so they let us stay whenever we wanted..
Althea G — Google review
I'm surprised to see the set up of the room. There's only one aircon located in the common room. There are electric fans on each room to push the cold air inside. Toilet and shower are separated. We are a group of 10 so some slept on the floor. The beach tho was kind of disappointing because the water is murky and the sand is not white. On the beach tho, the sand is white and is not that fine. Station 2 has better view but there's no accommodation there, I think, only tents. The food serving is small so that makes the price a little expensive at 150-300 each. Free drinking water is available at the dining area. Smart signal is difficult but Globe has 4G. No wifi. The hotel offers banana boat and kayak.
Jericho D — Google review
There's an entrance fee which i forgot how much. You can walk around to the other side for a wider beach sand. Make sure weather is good before visiting the place. Shower to wash up is available.

Caverns & Caves
Craggy sea cave adjacent to a sandy beach, with a double entryway & clear water favored by swimmers.
Priavtely owned beach so you cant stroll around but the cave is good. Short one but got a nice feels to it esp solo. Sunset views will be spectacular here for sure. I went on a cloudy/stormy afternoon
Victoria A — Google review
Went during a little storm. But it's still beautiful. The place is privately owned so we cant drop and walk around the beach area, but as for the cave, it's nice especially during sunset
NowWhereToGo R — Google review
You'll love the crystal clear water in this cave. I also saw a lot of small fishes when our group went inside the cave. The fishes are so friendly that they don't swam away when we plunged in the waters. We also had nice pictures inside the cave. No lightning nor flash needed to get a clear shot. The cave is a perfect hiding place from the heat of the sun. Going there is another story. Find out why and visit the place.
Heloise C — Google review
Since summer is fast approaching, Kwebang Lampas has started to get crowded. Php 80.00 entrance fee. If you want a little bit of isolation, pass through the cave and swim to your right. You'll see a small cove at the back of a huge rock formation. It's like a little beach of your own.
Janu-Rey S — Google review
Nestled in Pagbilao Grande island's southern tip, this geological formation is conjoined by the sea and is adjacent to a beach accessible via boat and by a few minutes trek into the jungle. Camping is allowed on the beach, however the area becomes off limits to anyone beyond 6 PM - no one can get in or out the encampment area once the sun goes down. This was the known arrangement pre-pandemic days.
Raywollesen F — Google review
A beautiful cave that has two openings, the very reason for its name “Kwebang Lampas”. Outside one opening is a majestic beach with clear waters, however this beach is closed. But you can still swim in it, beware of the jellyfishes swimming with you though!

Cool spot with nice rock formations and trees. Some tourists have written on the walls of the cave though so I hope the LGU can put better controls to protect the cave

Love this place ❤️ Secluded, quiet, and beautiful. We went via Mauban Port (not sure if there are other routes), it is a 45-minute boat ride. The waves are strong. If you want to disconnect with the city life, this place is for you. Beach is amazing. It's white sand beach. On the main island, the sand is fine (not Boracay fine but fine). But on the sandbar, the sand was finer. On your Island Hopping: - bakawan forest for photos - snorkeling - sandbar Please note: • Electricity is only available from 7 pm to 7 am • There is no wifi. • Bring Cash • The market is located at the Mauban Port, so buy and bring the things that you need before boarding the boat. At the place where we stayed (Doña Choleng), there's an option to have your food cooked; There's a sari-sari store, so you have options.

I really love this Island. White sands, star fish, beautiful sunrise and sunset, great corals and fishes for snorkeling. The place is for those who loves to partially disconnect on the city. It's only a 4 hours drive including the boat ride from the metro. All resorts are recommendable. Please be advised that electricity is only available between 6pm to 6am. Also, for the first timers, you'll need to secure bookings first for you to be able to ride a public boat on the Mauban port for registration.

Cagbalete has some of the better beaches out there in the Philippines from my point of view. +White and fine sand +Very affordable +Not crowded +The locals are very kind +Easy to get to as long as you don't mind the 40-minute boat ride +Sand bar -Weak mobile phone service

Went here without the best plans - just a quick glance through the reviews and dos and don'ts. My mistake. I should've planned better because you won't be able to take full pleasure of the island and it's beauties without preparation. Bring food with you, or at least a big budget to buy prepared food from the island. Otherwise, you'll be eating canned foods the entire time. Rest well before coming here. If you'll arrive in the morning at around 11am, you'll see that the beach is almost dried up. You're going to want to take a lot of pictures of this beauty by then and explore the rest of the island after. Pick the best resort for you. There are a lot of options here that offer rooms, or if you prefer pick one that has the best deal for tent pitching. I'll definitely be back! 🏝👏😇

This is one of the best secluded, virgin island I have ever been in the Philippines. It was like we rented the entire island just for us. There was almost zero tourist when we visited Cagbalete. Never rain, sun was shinny and the ocean was calm. From the sand, beach, food, and locals, this amazing place is heaven. Went here for a 4 nights trip with my wife. We didn't ate in our resort, what we did was asked local fisherman to cook for us and dine together at their house with their family. The feeling was amazing. Their local adobong pusit, and fish something was super delicious. Would highly recommend doing the same as it also helps local people in getting up from their feet.

Resorts and fine beaches. Effects of low tide is obvious on some beaches. Friendly local government. Follow rules especially with your trash; keep the island clean as always :) white sand beaches are present here. Careful though, lots of corals and stones around when taking a swim.
Arneil L — Google review
What's amazing about this island is that the locals is too nice! Food is completely awesome and you need to feast your eyes with the scenery. I would like to point out the Sun Rise and Sun Sets were stunning. Go for snorkeling if possible.

A beautiful island that is near Manila. One can simply go on a day tour in this island but it is highly suggested that you stay overnight. Overnight stay here is affordable. Make sure that you call in during the peak season though.

Playa Laiya Beach Club

Outdoor Activities
A small but beautiful beach resort. We went there on a Sunday, and despite the long weekend there were not as much people in the area so it was very peaceful. The cabanas were also more than beautiful. Each had sufficient space for guests, cushions to sit on, shades for privacy, and multiple outlets. The food was a bit expensive but the family liked it. We did bring more food of our own though and had to pay a corkage fee. All in all, I’d definitely go back here.
Harold L — Google review
We came here yesterday and rented a cabana for 12 persons guest. The place is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the front building serves good food for a price. The pool is good for the kid’s, the lifeguard is continuously monitoring the area. The beach sand is not that white and fine. There’s a lot of beach activity you can do, they have wind sailing, dragon boat ride, jet ski and boat ride. I will come back here for sure.
Jansen C — Google review
Day tour on a weekend costs 700/adult. Kids below 7 yrs old are free of charge, otherwise you pay kid's rate. Booking is a must, walk-ins are not yet allowed in most Laiya resorts. Amenities are complete and restaurant and bar have a decent selection of Filipino and American, Italian staples. Smallest cabana costs 1250/day, but the one that we got did not have provision for curtains/blinds to shade us from the sun. Will definitely consider coming back here in the future.
Babelyn D — Google review
Based on the price of 2.230 PHP for a day of 8 hours, I can give only 3 Stars. The beach is clean, the water seems to be clean too. Also the landscape is very nice, located on a vast beach. But if you look for shade at the beach, you will find it only in the restaurants. At the pools, there are fewer umbrellas, so it's a hard fight to get one. Another way is to rent a condo for an additional 1500 PHP. The dishes are up to your taste. In ribs and pizza is additional sugar included. The service act like a 2 Star level.
Volker — Google review
Sand is fine but the beach is a little bit rocky. There is also a swimming pool for adult and for kids. The comfort rooms are clean and big. The landscapes are beautiful, nice view for picture takings.
Ameerah L — Google review
This is one of my favorite beach clubs in San Juan. I just wish they have hotel rooms for overnight. We had an overnight experience in this place and cabana is at its most comfortable setup to cater us. Luckily, their are no mosquitos around. Pool is awesome, a child friendly place. Since this is a membership resort, this is not crowded. Amenities are good and staffs are friendly. Super nice place!
Iam R — Google review
Lovely beach club for Playa Laiya members. Non-members can go in as long as they have endorsement letter from an owner and pay the entrance fee and cabana. It is a big and nice place but already showing some signs of neglect such as the power outlet in our cabana is not working properly, in the ladies shower room, some doors have broken locks. Hope the management will do something about it. But the beach area is very nice even if it is pebbly. Better wear aqua shoes especially for kids. There are some parts of the water that is uneven- like you are standing in a shallow part then when you move forward it becomes deep. Glad that there's a lifeguard around.
Edel S — Google review
If your looking for a quick getaway from Manila. Try Laiya, San Juan Beaches and Resorts. Though they don't have such Open Beach that most carribean island have, you can try to book an overnight stay or a day trip on one of the Resorts around Laiya. The beach itself has this almost very fine white sand and a beautiful blue water.

Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort is a 5-star hotel located in Tiaong, Quezon, offering guests a chance to experience the country life of the Philippines. The resort features a large museum with diverse collections, including historical artifacts and cultural exhibits. Guests can enjoy dining by a beautiful waterfall and partake in activities such as bamboo raft rides, swimming in various pools, and watching cultural shows depicting dances and music from different regions of the country.
What an absolute hidden gem! I have never heard of this place until my family decided to visit it, and I was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. I was afraid the rooms would be musty, filled with cobwebs, mosquitoes or lizards (not sure why, but those are the things that come into my mind when I see bamboo/nipa hut inspired villas), but it was definitely NOT THE CASE. Rooms were well-maintained, very tidy, and the beds are so comfortable, my husband said he slept like a baby!♡ We had the villas by the lake and it is so beautiful and serene any time of the day. For me the best things about this place are the #1 THE FOOD, and #2 the staff. The food is delicious, period! The bibingka is to die for!♡ The true Filipino hospitality is alive and can be experienced here in a warm and authentic manner (it did not feel fake or forced). Oh, and #3 is the cultural show! Please don't miss it and don't forget to show the staff and production team your love and appreciation of their hard work. It is really worth seeing♡ I was tearing up and beaming with Filipino pride. Even their shop had so many beautiful items that sadly I could not fit in my luggage! I could go on and on but it is best to experience it for yourself. Well done to the owners AND STAFF of Villa Escudero, truly worth its value and I would love to come back again!♡ I wonder how it is during Christmas time♡

Very warm, courteous and friendly staff! The museums were a treat as the collections are quite unique for one family to have amassed through the years. Culturally relevant, the carabao buggy ride was nice as you will be serenaded with old Tagalog songs that brings memories from my childhood. A must place to visit by "balikbayan's" and tourist alike.

Our family enjoyed our day trip. The flow was very organized, there's always somebody who can assist you and guide you to the next attraction. Buffet food is also nice, service was 💯. Our seniors were very well taken cared of. Considering that it rained while we were eating, the staff assisted us so well , we still enjoyed our meal. Cultural show was 💯 as well. I hope their audio setup gets upgraded though. Pool and restroom facilities were also well maintained

The experience was overall enjoyable. My favorite part was definitely the museum, although it was a bummer that we weren’t allowed to take any photos. It’s a great place for an overview of our culture, although I wouldn’t recommend the place for family/friend trips as it isn’t really “family-friendly”. Four stars only because the day pass only allows until 5PM, which isn’t ideal as the heat is terrible and swimming is suboptimal before 5PM. Still a good experience, and our clients enjoyed the place immensely. Best parts were the museum + lunch by the falls.
Trisha C — Google review
Villa Escudero is a beautiful and relaxing place where you can experience Filipino culture in a fun and authentic way. The surroundings are peaceful, with nature all around—coconut trees, fresh air, and even a unique lunch by the waterfalls that makes the visit extra special. But the highlight of the trip is the cultural show. It’s colorful, lively, and filled with pride. The performers—many of them local young talents—showcase traditional Filipino dances, songs, and even native costumes from different regions of the Philippines. What makes it stand out is how it teaches and entertains at the same time. You get to learn about the country’s history and traditions, but you also enjoy every moment of it. It’s a great reminder of how rich and diverse Filipino culture is.
Angela B — Google review
The first phone call i received from Villa Escudero’s staff was already a red flag. She told me, TOLD, not asked, that i will need to transfer to a different room on our 2nd night because they’re full and when i booked in their website it didn’t reflect the actual availability of the rooms. Eventually they relented and agreed to call a different party instead to ask if THEY’RE willing to change rooms because i wasn’t. After a while, they called me back and says the other party agreed to change rooms. How unprofessional of this staff. Rooms are okay, not as clean as they show in the photos. Lots of ants and spiders. The bedsheets weren’t laundered properly or they didn’t bother changing it before the next guests. The food to be fair was good especially dinner time food. Make sure you have it at the Coco Pavilion. We had extra lunch and we were transferred to the Cafe Indigo and it was the slowest service ever. Took more than 30 mins also to get the bill. I was also asked to walk to the pavillion since they dont have a credit card terminal. Waste of time. The waterfalls attraction is overrated and disgusting. Not well-maintained. The chairs and stands nangangalawang na. Sometimes people accidentally drop their food in the water where other people also step on. Disgusting. There’s a part also where it’s very moldy and slippery to step on. So many people i’ve seen in the 30 minutes i was there slip. Their hand soaps especially in Cafe Indigo smells like Lysol. The upper pool was dirty. The servers are forgetful. They forgot our orders sometimes. When we’re in our room, we can call for service using a buzzer. Twice it’s been more than 30 mins and no one came. They have a system for running the entire place which is great. They’re pretty well-organized But they need to be consistent especially the staff who may have been complacent with their jobs already. Their performances were good. It’s obvious they put so much time and effort in the costumes and the choreographies. But i suggest doing it in 30 mins during lunch, and another 30 mins in dinner. So many people have dozed off from boredom or too long a show. The entire place is old and dated. You can the cracks and holes in many parts of the property. For a five star property, definitely felt like 3 star at best.

Pandin Lake Experience for only 350 pesos is ❤. Sumptuous meal ( the ensaladang Pako is to die for! I will definitely go back here!

Parking fee nearby highway is 50 pesos. While walk passed thru the private road is 60. Lalakarin mo about approx 500 meters rough road. Fresh water lake. ok naman ang foods at reasonable price.
Dave D — Google review
Went here over the weekend. Parking is spacious but you have to pay 50, no time limit as the parking area is privately owned. Its safer compared before that you will park at the roadside. Locals will look after your car. You have to trek a little to reach lake pandin. Its just sad that you have to pay 60 pesos on top of the environmental fee. They said that the 60 pesos is for the right of way as the trail going to Lake Pandin is privately owned. The Lake experience though is lovely. The water is clean the water underneath gets colder. Bangkeros wont allow you to swim w/o lifevests otherwise they will be suspended. If your not good in swimming at least you wont get tired easily as you have lifevest to support you floating. Maximize your stay as they only allow 2hrs. Per boat to stay. CR is not well maintained. There is no shower cubicles here. You may wash up in the water filled in the palangganas. I did not wash up after our swim in the Lake, i just changed clothes but I did not feel any itch after. Two thumbs up for that! 😉

I could not able to swim in the lake since it's too deep! But being able to eat while traversing the lake is very relaxing.

A place where you can relax and just enjoy nature while you eat your lunch on a balsa ride. Perfect get away from the busy city life. Expenses wise... Its cheap. Its just perfect for the adventurous you. Perfect for taking pictures. Just be ready for a short hike over a few kilometers of road and trails.
Ericiv A — Google review
The restroom (before you enter the lake) desperately needs to be upgraded. You pay 5 pesos to use a very basic toilet with a broken door (and you are not allowed to shower). The lunch on the raft, and the swimming experience in the lake makes up for the dismal bathroom, though! Vests are provided for each swimmer/passenger. Bring your own goggles and snorkels if you wish.
Anne C — Google review
We were welcomed by a local tour guide and an enterprising house owner across the street who rents his lot for parking to go to the lake. About half or 1 km and due to rain it's wet and muddy. Reasonable price P360 per person so we thought but that's for a group of over 4. So we ended up paying P400 per person. The lake was serene, greenery all around and the crew were helpful and accomodating. The food though simple as it is were delish. Investing on proper signage-directions, prices and improving amenities will make this place a great place for locals and tourists.

Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Parish

Churches & Cathedrals
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is a serene and well-maintained place for contemplation and prayer. The church features a spacious interior with a high ceiling, providing a comfortable atmosphere for visitors. Additionally, there is a separate building housing the image of Mary. Despite debates about apparitions, the faithful find solace in their devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary at this cozy location. The church also offers ample parking and has a religious shop nearby for souvenirs and books.
Visited this venerable place of worship and miracles. Did not saw the petals but was able to saw a replica of the Mother Mary Mediatrix .
Fernando B — Google review
A quiet place to contemplate and communicate with The Creator. The church and its facilities are well maintained. The candle area is located at the side of the church. The ceiling is high so it is not suffocating. The kneeling pads need foams because it is a little uncomfortable to the knees whenever kneeling for a long time. The image of Mary is in the separate building so don't forget to proceed to the other building. It is very accessible as it is located along the highway. There are parking space and comfort rooms available.
Evita D — Google review
Personally, it’s really a solemn place to rejuvenate yourself spiritually. We prayed and lighted candles as our tradition every time we visit churches. It’s wheelchair friendly around except if you go to see Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, you’ll need someone to help you get upstairs but lucky for us there were friendly men to help us.
Joel D — Google review
This is a very beautiful and wonderful place despite the Vatican's pronouncement about the apparition. Even if the apparition is true or not, what is more important is the faith of the people to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is a very cozy place to pray and to reflect. There is a big parking lot provided for all the mass goers especially on Saturdays. There is also a good souvenir religious shop near the monastery for good items. There are good books there. In the upper deck of the shop, we can find the viewing deck in which they believe that the apparition took place. It is a very wonderful place to be. Despite the heavy traffic and the noisy streets of lipa, serenity could be found in these place. To God be all the glory. Thanks!!

This Church is very solemn, one of my faves! It’s very clean and well maintained. The priest officiating masses here are also very good and non-political.

Another good place of worship located in the midst of Lipa City. This is the place where showers of roses petals first happened. Though it was not officially acknowledged by the Vatican, still lots of devotees flock to this church.
Kay.Tolentino G — Google review
Many miraculous showers of petals occurs on this site, last was in 1991. Looking at this century-old church compared to the other churches in Lipa, this can be considered as relatively modern with no intricate embellishment and excessive decorations, just plain cream facade and the clean white painted interiors which reflect more light that enters its windows.

Port of Batangas, also known as Batangas Pier, is a significant seaport in Barangay Santa Clara, Batangas City. It primarily serves the Calabarzon area and covers around 150 hectares. Designated as a national port in 1956, it has seen significant improvements over the years. The port offers convenient RORO travel with facilities such as parking spaces for travelers' vehicles and well-maintained waiting areas with air conditioning and seating options.
The Port of Batangas has improved so much since the last time I was here—7 years ago to be exact! I was honestly shocked because I don’t remember it being this well-lit and organized. It almost feels like I'm in NAIA. There are also plenty of food stalls too, so you can grab a bite before leaving. The place is fully air-conditioned, which makes waiting way more comfortable. Plus, they have charging ports inside, so you can power up your devices before boarding.
Jubel — Google review
There are a lot of restaurants and stores inside. A lot of seats as well when waiting for boarding. Easy purchase of tickets because there are a lot of counters. Parking is also available. Parked from Friday to Sunday and just paid 566 pesos.

Batangas Port looks impressive and very active, with ships and ferries constantly moving in and out. The area gives a strong sense of how busy maritime life is in this part of the Philippines. From what I’ve seen, the port seems well managed and organized, surrounded by a lively atmosphere with workers and vessels in motion. It’s definitely an important hub connecting many parts of the country, and quite a sight for anyone who appreciates marine life and port activity.
Bob L — Google review
This is a massive port but very organized, clean and well maintained. The roads are paved and smooth even with so many trucks and buses pass by everyday. The roads are wide, well marked and there are directional signs to help motorists navigate the area.
Belle — Google review
Nice terminal very clean and very busy. Our boat got delayed by 1 hours. But still there's a lot of restaurants. The ambience is nice the line is kind of long but still you can eat I guess? Clean bathrooms nice ambience good seats what is this port? Parking space kind of full.
Calix M — Google review
Batangas Port is a well-maintained and efficient hub, providing easy access for both passengers and cargo. With its clean facilities and modern infrastructure, the port ensures a comfortable and seamless experience for travelers and businesses alike. The organization of the port is commendable, featuring clear signage, helpful staff, and excellent transportation links to Batangas and nearby areas, making it convenient for all who visit. However, one area for improvement is the terminal ticketing process. Currently, passengers need to queue again and pay separately for the terminal fee, instead of having the option to pay it together with their ticket. This minor inconvenience could be addressed by integrating the terminal fee payment into the ticketing process, allowing travelers to make a single payment and avoid waiting in line twice. This would streamline the overall experience and further enhance the port’s efficiency.
Satrina M — Google review
Dangerous!!!!!!! If you're foreigner, when you arrive dropoff area, many people around there will approach and volunteer to help you, pick up your luggages from your vehicle and then extort you for tips but they just carry your luggages for 10 meters before give it to port staffs who wearing refletive jacket. I don't mind to give them tips but it's too much take adventage others. I gave them 1000 pesos for 5-6 people but 2 of them request more tips, they told me they are different group with 3-4 men before. I really hate exploiting and disgusting behavior. For port staffs are nice but there are a lot of things should be improved such as sign: no any sign to tell you what you should do, where you should go, what gateyou should wait. timetable of each ferry and where is your ferry.
Kantapat J — Google review
A busy port, with lots of Ferries operating and more food options than anybody could possibly need! Buses arrive and depart from close by. Allow yourself enough time to buy tickets, a different window for the Port tax, and then clear security screening.

Visited the Parish and National Shrine of St. Padre Pio and I really liked how spacious and peaceful the place was. Fascinating place with relics of Padre Pio in the Philippines. Lots of pilgrims around in the shrine, even though you don’t see them in the pictures. The structure is really unique and looks like a coconut. I know local materials were used in the construction of the facility. It was something I doubt I’ll ever see the likes of again.

The peaceful ambiance, combined with the spiritual atmosphere, makes it an ideal destination for anyone seeking a calm and inspiring retreat. Definitely worth the visit for those looking to connect with nature and spirituality!

Regina RICA is one of the places you can visit if you are doing the Tanay loop. It’s actually a church and there’s no entrance fee. However, if you have a vehicle, there’s a ₱50 parking fee, and the toilet requires a ₱10 donation, which they are quite strict about. The place itself is very spacious and definitely a must-visit if you’re in Tanay. You’ll also see sheep roaming around the area, which adds to its charm. The highlight is the large statue of Mama Mary, and there are also different activities you can try. Overall, a great experience and absolutely worth visiting.

Peace, nature, and a truly majestic Mama Mary! 🙏 If you're looking for a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle, you've got to visit Regina RICA in Tanay, Rizal. This beautiful pilgrimage site is home to a towering 71-foot statue of Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, standing peacefully on a hill. It's not just a spiritual haven, but also an ecological sanctuary perfect for contemplation and wellness. Think lush greenery, quiet spaces, and a chance to truly connect with yourself and nature. Even for a tech-lover like me with a smart home, it's amazing to unplug and find stillness here. 🌿✨ Perfect for a reflective escape, and definitely a must-see if you're in the CALABARZON area! Just remember the dress code – respectful attire is key! 😉 #ReginaRica #PilgrimagePH #TanayRizal #MamaMary #Sanctuary #Philippines #TravelPH #SpiritualJourney #NatureLover #FindYourPeace 🇵🇭💖

I visited Regina RICA a few weeks ago, and it was a peaceful and spiritually uplifting experience. Parking is accessible, and the site is well-organized for pilgrims and visitors alike. This place is more than just a tourist spot—it’s a pilgrimage site and sacred sanctuary nestled in the mountains of Tanay. To reach the iconic 71-foot-tall statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (Regina Rosarii), you’ll need to take a short walk uphill. The path is both calming and reflective, allowing time to prepare your mind and spirit. Along the way, you’ll notice footprints embedded in the pavement—each marked with a name. These likely belong to generous donors or pilgrims who have contributed to the sanctuary’s development, adding a deeply personal and communal touch to the journey. Once you reach the statue—affectionately called “Mama Mary on the Hill”—you’ll discover that it has an interior chapel. Please note that modest clothing is required; mini skirts, see-through attire, and sleeveless tops aren’t allowed as a sign of reverence. Visitors are also reminded to keep silent inside the statue, as it’s a place for meditation and prayer. I saw two nuns seated quietly in contemplation, which added to the serene and sacred atmosphere. Inside the statue is a small altar. Being there felt calming and intimate. When you step out from the top area of the statue, you’re greeted with a breathtaking view of the surrounding Sierra Madre mountains—a moment that feels both humbling and beautiful. I also visited the modern chapel within the grounds. Though its design is contemporary, it still feels deeply sacred. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the natural surroundings, enhances the prayerful experience. Regina RICA was established by the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii and has become a popular destination for pilgrims and nature lovers. It offers a unique blend of faith, silence, nature, and healing, making it an ideal place to pause, reflect, and reconnect—whether you’re Catholic or simply seeking quiet time. P.s. there's a 20 pesos entrance fee.

Blessed Sunday 🙏 The place is open until 5pm only and the last mass is at 3:30pm. Only few seats can accommodate inside so make sure to go there early. They also have stations of the cross around the area and a payment of 20pesos for the parking fee. Candles will cost you 100 each same with the ribbon but these are optional. You can also take it home if you want. There’s a souvenir shop inside too..

We visited Regina Rica last month and it was such a peaceful, soul-refreshing experience. The view is breathtaking, the statue of Mama Mary is awe-inspiring, and the whole place radiates calm and faith. A must-visit if you need a quiet break and spiritual reset. 😌

A very quiet place to reflect and pray. But be warned it is a really hilly place, you need an umbrella, drinking water, fan to avoid dehydration and strong legs for hiking. Going up will give you a nice view of the surrounding hills and forests. There's an entrance fee before you enter the premises, open air parking lot. You can offer prayers, candles here. Buy souvenir stuff like rosaries, shirts, umbrellas and they have a cafe/restaurant inside.

Masungi Georeserve, a 1,600-hectare conservation area located in Baras, Rizal, offers guided trails and ropes courses through its protected rainforest preserve. Managed by passionate groups and individuals, the georeserve aims to promote sustainable geotourism and educate visitors about conservation. Nestled within lush rainforests and limestone formations on the southern part of the Sierra Madre mountain range, it has become a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a unique experience.
Masungi Georeserve Hike – A Magical Escape into Nature Masungi Georeserve is hands-down one of the most breathtaking hiking experiences I’ve ever had in the Philippines. From the moment we entered the reserve, we were immersed in a lush, limestone-rich landscape that felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. The trail was well-guided and thoughtfully designed—not too easy, not too hard—perfect for nature lovers looking for a bit of adventure. The highlights? Definitely the Sapot, a giant web-like viewing platform with a jaw-dropping view of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Then there’s Ditse, Patak, at Duyan, where you walk on hanging bridges and giant hammocks suspended over limestone formations—super thrilling and Instagram-worthy! Our park ranger was knowledgeable and passionate about conservation, which added so much meaning to the experience. Masungi isn’t just a hike—it’s a lesson in environmental stewardship, local flora and fauna, and sustainable tourism. If you’re looking to disconnect from city stress and reconnect with nature, I highly recommend visiting Masungi. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and deeply inspiring.

Each step you take clears your mind, allowing you to reconnect not only with the vibrant surroundings but also with your own senses. This hike transcends the mere idea of adventure; it transforms into a journey of soulful healing and introspection. Upon reaching the majestic spider web, you are spellbound by the breathtaking beauty of Mother Nature, often overlooked in our daily grind. The gentle caress of the wind, the warm embrace of sunlight that kisses your skin, and the invigorating scent of fresh earth and foliage all converge to revitalize your spirit. This awe-inspiring moment leaves you with a profound appreciation for the intricate wonders that the natural world bestows upon us. I am eagerly looking forward to returning, eager to make this stunning landscape my weekend retreat or holiday escape. Until we meet again!

We were here as part of a group trip. It took time to enter. We waited for 30 minutes in the bus before the tour started. Our group was divided to smaller groups and assigned a guide. The tour was informative and exhilarating. There was some trouble with the food which I hope the management can handle better.

The Discovery Trail was a truly immersive experience with nature not far away, just one hour, from Metro Manila. It emphasizes the important conservation work that local volunteers do to maintain the forests and also encourages conversations around ensuring sustainability by being one with nature and having the belief that we all are just visitors so we should have respect for the next one that comes after us. I personally found the hike to be challenging, although it was being marketed as beginner-friendly, because some parts of the trail could get very narrow and you really have to have the strength to hold on to the trees, handles, or ropes. That being said, the local ranger is helpful and offers alternative routes if the group finds it too challenging. If I were to suggest anything, that would be to provide a waiting area for guests — we were told online that we should arrive 15 minutes early; we did, but when we were there, they wouldn’t allow us to enter. What were we supposed to do in the parking lot? Also, there should be more cubicles for changing clothes after the trail. Other than those, visiting Masungi is a very good experience

Six months after my visit, I can confidently say that Masungi Georeserve changed my life. I'm not exaggerating or using hyperbole at all here. I used to always think of myself as a cowardly person. I wasn't even necessarily ashamed of it; it was just something about me. I was the one who chickened out of roller coasters, was scared of heights, scared of bugs, scared of lots of harmless things. At Masungi, I was faced with a choice. Take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on the other side of the globe from where I live to do something amazing and unlike anything I'd ever done before, seeing some of the most beautiful sights on earth, or chicken out as I always did and regret it forever. And it was so beautiful there, and our guide was so kind and knowledgeable and inspired so much confidence, that I found, to my surprise, that I was able to do it—the whole course, never taking the easy option. Suspended hundreds of feet over the ground, looking out at the gorgeous vista with my family, full of adrenaline and endorphins and amazement, I almost couldn't believe that I'd done it. My husband of 14 years was shocked because it was so out of character. And it was so incredibly worth it. It was a unique, beautiful, exhilarating, unforgettable experience, and one that I will treasure always. Perhaps best of all, the experience opened my eyes to the fact that I didn't have to accept being cowardly as an inherent personality trait. I could be brave if I wanted to! It's been extending to so many other things in my life since then, and it turns out that life is easier when you're not held back by irrational fears. It feels very odd but exciting. Thank you, Masungi Georeserve, for preserving nature with such care and passion, for sharing that passion with others, and for changing my life.

We took a private Sunrise Trail and it was an amazing experience! We did the longer Discovery Trail a few years ago and wanted to try something different this time coz we had a kid in the group younger than 13 y.o. The Sunrise Trail is a a hike on the limestones but has cemented pathways/stairs all the way through, going up is 600 steps. We got there early but the weather was not inclement so we waited for the rain to let up a bit. Our tourism officer, Marjun, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had helmets on for the tricky cave-like sections of the trail. It's quite a steep ascent but the view from above was stunning! After the hike, we were handed ice-cold towels (badly needed!) and bowls of delish arroz caldo and tea and coffee. Wonderful experience and a must for every outdoor enthusiasts. We learn about flora and fauna and the georeserve's mission. Always happy to support good causes!

So even though you can’t hike on the island anymore due to the active nature of the volcano, it’s still super worth taking a boat ride around the lake. Lots to see, plus tons of cool birds flying everywhere. And if you’re lucky, you might even see a little activity from the volcano itself. Highly recommend.

Not sure where other reviewers have been, as you are not currently able to land on the Island. It has been "off limits" since 2021, but MAY re-open in April. That said, the drive down the hillside to get to the village was very interesting, as was the drive around the lake to Taal. We were quoted 5,000 pesos for an hour boat ride or 6,000 for 2 hours which would go right around the Island - we declined. It was worth the trip for the drive and the view but disappointed we couldn't actually visit the Island. On the plus side, there were virtually no other tourists

Very scary and awesome. Like most we climbed to the edge of the crater and it is a bit of a frightening site as it is one of the most active volcanoes in the country and has erupted numerous times in the past. Actually it is composed of a main crater and several smaller craters. The Main Crater Lake is approximately 2 kilometers in diameter and contains a small island called Vulcan Point. This point is the site of a number of volcanic vents and is considered to be the most active part of the volcano.

A Giant Amongst Churches: My Enduring Connection to Taal Basilica Taal Basilica, officially the Minor Basilica of Saint Martin of Tours, isn't just a church; it's a colossal monument to faith, resilience, and history, standing majestically over the town of Taal. For me, it's a place brimming with memories, its sheer scale and venerable presence interwoven with significant moments of my life and the lives of my family. My earliest memory of Taal Basilica is one of overwhelming awe. As a child visiting relatives in Batangas, a trip to Taal was always on the itinerary, and the church was the undisputed centerpiece. I remember craning my neck, my eyes wide, trying to take in the sheer magnitude of its facade. The guidebooks proudly declared it the largest church in Asia, and standing before its imposing structure, that claim felt entirely believable. The immense wooden doors, the soaring bell tower that seemed to touch the sky – it all contributed to a feeling of incredible grandeur. Inside, the vastness of the nave, the intricate altars, and the hushed echoes of footsteps made me feel both tiny and connected to something ancient and profound. It was a stark contrast to the more modest parish churches I was used to, and it sparked a nascent appreciation for architectural marvels. The history of Taal Basilica is as dramatic and compelling as its appearance. The first church in Taal was actually located by the shores of Taal Lake, but it was repeatedly destroyed by eruptions of Taal Volcano (most notably the devastating eruption of 1754 that buried the old town of Taal and Lipa). This forced the town to relocate to its present, safer site on a hill. The construction of the current basilica began in 1755, after the relocation, under the supervision of Augustinian friars. It has undergone numerous renovations and reconstructions, particularly after an earthquake in 1849, leading to the grand structure we see today, largely completed in 1878. Knowing this history, standing within its walls, gives you a profound sense of the unwavering faith and determination of the people who rebuilt it, time and again, against the backdrop of natural calamities. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of the Batangueños. As I grew older, my visits to Taal Basilica became more meaningful. It wasn't just about marveling at its size; it was about connecting with family history. My grandparents, devout Catholics, often spoke of the church with deep reverence. I remember attending family Masses there, the powerful organ music reverberating through the immense space, making the experience truly transcendent. On one memorable occasion, we attended a relative's wedding there. Seeing the bride walk down that incredibly long aisle, beneath the soaring ceilings, was a truly cinematic moment, etched forever in my memory. The church, with its rich historical tapestry, served as the perfect backdrop for such a significant life event. More recently, after the 2020 Taal Volcano eruption, there was a collective sigh of relief when the basilica, despite its proximity, largely withstood the ashfall. It was a reminder of its symbolic importance, not just as a religious edifice, but as a cultural landmark and a beacon of hope for the community. Visiting it after the eruption, seeing the dust settled but the spirit unbroken, reinforced its status as a survivor. Taal Basilica is more than just a church; it's a repository of faith, history, and countless personal moments. It stands as a silent witness to generations of prayers, celebrations, and resilience. For me, it continues to be a source of wonder and a tangible link to my heritage, a true giant amongst churches, forever holding a special place in my heart and memories.

The details of the church rivals its European counterparts. Think of an Agustinian church but near the bay this is it. While everything is a reconstruction since the original church was destroyed with ruins in a nearby town, it is nonetheless beautiful, sacred.

It features seven themed zones including Victoria Park, Portabello, Boulderville, Brooklyn Place, Midway Boardwalk, Jungle Outpost and Spaceport. The park offers a variety of rides such as Anchors Away and Space Shuttle along with live shows and educational attractions.
Always a fun place to visit. The rides are exciting and there’s a good mix for both kids and adults. The park is clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Food inside is a bit pricey but that’s expected in theme parks. Best to go early so you can enjoy more rides before the lines get long. Great spot for families and groups looking for a full day of fun.

I recently had the opportunity to revisit Enchanted Kingdom, a place I fondly remember from my childhood. While it remains enjoyable even now, I must admit that, as a tourism professional, I was somewhat disappointed by the upkeep of the facilities, though the rides themselves were still great. The overall appearance seemed a bit dated. Furthermore, I noticed a lack of cohesive branding; the ride announcements varied, and some lacked a professional touch. I believe that the staff play a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience.

Perfect for a family outing, especially if you have kids! The rides, shows, and attractions are fun and memorable for all ages. A friendly reminder: bring extra t-shirts, lots of them, and towels too—the humidity in the theme park can get intense, especially during the day. It’s all part of the experience, though, and worth it for a fun day of adventure and laughter.

Imho this is actually better than HK disneyland which I've been to twice reluctantly. It's not overpriced, not overcrowded and probably the same size. Only downside is it has no Disney brand but I would go here again for the rides. Of course Disney Tokyo, Disney Sea are on a totally different level and those are actually the best theme parks in Asia.

Went for the 30th Anniversary weekend this October 2925. It's been a long time-EK. Hack tip: bring a refillable water bottle as they have water fountains all over the park. Car park is a flat one-entry rate in case you're thinking of buying food outside the park - but EK has a variety of branded food and drink stalls AND THEY'RE SURPRISINGLY REASONABLE. Tip: the Agila ride is a good environmentally focused ride people of all ages. It's a good initiative by the park. My rant: EK management holds a free concert but limits the seats to a few VIP's and leaves the PAYING public out in the rain and past the guard-rails. EK MANAGEMENT- you don't see that happening in Disney. And the concert was delayed for hours. As a government official who believes in service to the people first, you've absolutely spoiled it for me, EK. Shame on you - guess ill just see you in another 30 years.

I also appreciate that they offer rides for seniors and PWDs who can’t walk uphill but still want to enjoy the scenery—super helpful and thoughtful. There are also plenty of souvenir shops inside where you can buy pasalubong and small keepsakes. Overall, a nice spot to relax and take in the view.

A nice place to visit and see the beautiful countryside. There is a history behind this area that many may not be aware of, if you are interested you can look into it. Because of this history the area was not developed as much as originally intended, but it is still a nice place to visit and get out of the city. I was fortunate enough to come on a day when it was not busy and the weather was beautiful.

Has ₱50 entrance fee. Did not expect the 500m hike but it wasnt too bad or steep. Pretty up top and has an abandoned mossy building for the people into that kinda vibe. A jesus statue as well for the more religious tourists. Fog came in fast tho and the place immediately looked like something out of a silent hill game.

Place is clean and cool considering it was in the center of Sta Rosa and nearby cities, tried the boat ride and fish fishing overall park is good but a bit lacking of activities to try on, good for those who want to have quick escape but don’t want to travel far away

It's a good a place to hang out with your friends and get a bonding together for your family! Back then we were always having a picnic if there's a birthday coming up on our family here at nuvali, I miss those moments... I'm an adult now so... But I guarantee you guys (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ that it's a good place for having fun and take a peace of mind on seeing the lake, the fish, the green grass, the trees, the both, sometimes they make a 3D video play using the fountain.

Nice place to rest after climbing Marcos Mansion with your bike. Hope they add more bicycle parking though not just the one from 7-eleven. Nevertheless, it's good to jog here and also to bike around the park, there are malls nearby as well if you happen to get hungry

Tagaytay Picnic Grove is a popular destination in Tagaytay City, Cavite known for its stunning views of the volcano and lake. It offers picnic areas where visitors can bring their own food and rent tables, huts, or gazebos to enjoy a relaxing day with family and friends. Additionally, the locale features zip lines and horseback riding for those seeking more adventurous activities.
The place is perfect for families. We tried their horse riding and took lots of pictures. The entrance fee was very affordable, and so were the horse riding and zip line activities. They also have restaurants inside, which is super convenient. Overall, a great spot for a fun family day!
Brave M — Google review
The place is incredibly peaceful and perfect for a family picnic. I tried the zipline for 300ph, and it was an absolute blast. You get to see the beautiful view from up there.

If you’re visiting as a group, make sure to arrive early to secure parking and avoid the crowd. It’s best to enjoy walking around before the sun gets too strong—even if the weather is cold, it’s much more pleasant earlier in the day. Overall, coming ahead of time really makes the experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Lei C — Google review
Great place to visit if you want to see the volcano from a nice distance. Pretty chill place except when it's peak hours. The walk on the wooden bridges were cool too except for when it's raining. Hard to find places to cover you from the rain around the area too since it's just an open park except the restaurants. Otherwise, a good visit. Parking and entrance fees could be cheaper, but it's in a decent price if it means maintaining the place well.
Regina M — Google review
The place is great for families and bigger group who want to chill and have fun. There are tons of stores in there selling everything from food to drinks to souvenirs. There’s also restaurants in the park. You can either bring your food or buy in there.
Hungry S — Google review
Its a walk place for family to bond together but if you come here remember to keep your stamina in check because the stairway is long but the view here is astonishing but if your stamina is not good enough then my suggest dont go all the way to the bottom part then just enjoy the view from top view. You can ride horse for 350p/ 30minutes here in a horse arena and if you want to ride outside the arena you need to pay 1.700p/hour. dont forget to release the rope tension of the horse and kick its belly if you want to ride it alone. Enjoy 😊

Picnic Grove is one of the best places to see Taal Volcano a small but active volcano in the middle of a lake. The view is relaxing and perfect for a picnic. You can bring food, rent a hut, or just sit on the grass and enjoy the fresh air. Great spot for photos and chill moments.

Splash Island is the largest waterpark in the country, located at the Splash Island Eco Centrum in Binan, Laguna. It's a lively destination with large slides, pools, a lazy river, and even a food court and gift shop. Families, kids, and groups flock to this convenient and accessible water park from nearby areas during summer.
Everytime I visit my family in the Philippines we go to this waterpark. The slides are always a lot of fun, but I do recommend bringing flip flops for all the walking. It is easily reachable by van and the food is as delicious as I remember it when I was a child! Fun for all ages and group sizes. Staff is very friendly and make you smile!

Splash Island is a decent water park located in Biñan, Laguna. The park is conveniently situated along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), making it accessible for visitors from nearby areas. Pros: Variety of Attractions: There are several water slides and pools to enjoy, catering to different age groups and thrill levels Convenient Location: Easy to reach via SLEX, which is great for a quick getaway Group Bookings: The park accommodates large groups, school tours, and exclusive bookings, which is ideal for events and gatherings Ticket: I highly suggest booking in advance via their website to avoid hassle and enjoy discounts. Cons: Maintenance Issues: Some of the slides and pools could be better maintained. Some pools aren't functional when we visited. Food Policy: Outside food and drinks are not allowed, and the food available inside the park is a bit pricey. Parking: Fee is P50 per vehicle. The parking area is not covered and doesn't have a roof which can be a little issue, especially during rainy weather Overall, we enjoyed our getaway at Splash Island.
Gela R — Google review
Overall, our experience was okay. We expected it to be busy since it's a holiday, and indeed, there were a lot of people. The rides were generally fine, but some had specific time slots, so it's best to plan accordingly. As for the pools, we noticed there were a lot of leaves, especially yung "Balsa", kaya sinasabi na makati din. Unfortunately, some pools, like the kids' pool, were not in use. One thing that could be improved is the food policy - no outside food and drinks are allowed, and the prices of food and drinks inside were quite steep, almost triple the usual prices. On the plus side, pwede mag swim sa wave pool pag overnight. Meron soundtrip at bonfire. All in all, it was a decent experience, but a few tweaks could make it even better.
Venny D — Google review
The place is fun. That's all. There are lots of activities you can do and you can enjoy all the time, I assure you. THEY DON'T LET YOU BRING FOOD INSIDE BUT BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. Hear me out, the foods inside were unnecessarily expensive but you can eat outside in your vehicle.
Arphiel — Google review
Unfortunately, the tables already reserved by the company were being used by the public. They lack promotion on the available slides that caused confusion on customers. As if it feels like the staff are more happier if there is no one lining up to their assigned area.

very Exciting with the rides ..so much fun while relaxing on other lazy pools
Anthony R — Google review
We've been coming here for many years. The place is showing its age. There are some maintenance issues that are showing. Not enough tubes on the lazy river. The staff looks tired and unenergized. Still a good place to get away from the heat.

I'm a big kid at heart. I love water slides I had a great day here with my then partner & her kids. From the recent pictures it looks even better now with new attractions from when I was there last. I'd love to go back there again someday. It's a fantastic day out for the family.

Puzzle Mansion

Puzzle Mansion, located in Barangay Asisan, Tagaytay City, is a unique museum that boasts an extensive collection of jigsaw puzzles from various genres. It gained recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2012 for having the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles, surpassing the previous record held by Brazil. The museum is home to over 1,000 puzzles initially and has since expanded to approximately 2,000 puzzles dating back to the 1980s.
This is such an amazing experience. It might not be glamorous and fancy but I definitely appreciate it. The entrance fee is i think 100 pesos. It’s very worth every penny and be amaze of her passion for assembling puzzles. There will be someone who would give you some insights regarding the puzzle and will let you be on your own after. Each and every frames are her life’s work. It is deeply nestled some where in Tagaytay but google maps will definitely be able to bring you there. There are also signs of “Puzzle Mansion” along the roads so you would definitely arrive at your destination. The road from the main entrance is kinda steep so just make sure you ride something that can take it.
Majrie — Google review
It is a nice and quiet place. You can see so many puzzles here and know the owner's story. Not so many visitors. Easy to Parking and buy ticket.
Traveler M — Google review
Puzzle Mansion in Tagaytay, Cavite, is the world's only jigsaw puzzle museum (Guinness-recognized from 2012-2017 for the largest collection of over 1,000 puzzles), housed in a former bed-and-breakfast on a hilly, one-hectare property. Founded by collector Georgina Gil-Lacuna (who passed in 2014), it showcases rare, intricate puzzles—from 3D designs and wooden originals to massive art replicas—plus a novelty shop for souvenirs like custom photo puzzles and coconut cream pie. It's a quirky, offbeat stop for puzzle nerds, families, or rainy-day escapes, blending art, history, and whimsy amid Tagaytay's cool vibes and volcano views. Pros: Unique Collection: Over 1,000 puzzles (e.g., crystal, wooden, 5,000-piece giants) tell stories—guides share Lacuna's passion, making it educational and "spark[s] curiosity." X users love posing with big ones for laughs. Charming Vibe: Hilly, pineapple-surrounded spot feels like a "secret rest house." Infinity pool, café (try the pie!), and photo ops add whimsy—great for kids or couples. Value & Accessibility: PHP 100 entry (kids/seniors half); free parking. Rainy-day proof, with AC indoors. Cultural Tie-In: Guinness legacy + Filipino hospitality; 2025 Vatican-adjacent buzz from nearby SVD Farm visitors. Cons: Remote Location: Steep, unpaved roads (4-5 km off highway)—needs car/tricycle (PHP 100-200); "challenging in poor weather." Basic Facilities: Cramped layout hinders viewing details; no big events post-2014. Some call it "humble" vs. flashy museums. Niche Appeal: If you're not into puzzles, it can feel "repetitive" after 30 mins—better for enthusiasts. Limited Hours/Info: Closes early; occasional stockouts at shop. Tips for Your Visit Best Time: Weekdays/mornings to beat crowds; rainy season for indoor focus. 15 mins from Tagaytay Rotonda. Budget: PHP 300-500/person (entry + pie/snacks/souvenirs). Book via Trip.com for bundles. Etiquette: No touching puzzles; modest dress if tying in spiritual stops. Pets OK, wheelchair access limited.
Lope Q — Google review
We visited Puzzle Mansion over the weekend. The entrance fee is 100 pesos per head. As someone who loves art, I really appreciated the place. I was amazed by the puzzles made by the owner. There was also a tour guide who shared the history of the museum. It’s worth noting that Puzzle Mansion is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles. I was truly inspired by this visit to start creating my own puzzles.
April D — Google review
I LOVED THIS PLACE. The staff was so kind and friendly and told great stories about the puzzles and the lady that assembled them all. There were so many amazing and unique puzzles to view. This is a two story building and it's worth the trip. There is a gift shop upstairs but one of the coolest features is the amazing and fun jeepney that they have on display. The most difficult part though may be the incredibly steep hill you must take to enter or exit. Our tuktuk refused to go down the hill so we walked.
Jeremy B — Google review
This place was inspiring. The time and patience the owner did to create this place and her jigsaw puzzle collection to the point she got in Guiness World of Records. Hands down!

Cool place that has a certificate from Guinness! The guides are knowledgeable and will take pictures for you. The legacy of the owner lives here!

Mt. Pico De Loro

Nestled in a mountain range, Mt. Pico De Loro offers hiking trails suitable for all skill levels, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the city, sea, and surrounding islands. Its name, meaning 'Parrot's Beak' in Spanish, is derived from its distinct shape resembling a bird's beak. This dormant volcano is a favorite among adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts with climbing and trekking experience.
Moderate Hike and best for diversity walk This place is suitable for nature enthusiasts because of its diverse flora and fauna. This is a DENR protected area, so the number of hikers is limited. The online registration fee is 200 pesos which goes to the protection and cleanliness of the area and 500 pesos for the tour guide, which is good for 5 person. The dense forest protects the hiker from direct sunlight but can be tricky because of the low air ventilation. The trek from station 7 up until the summit is quite challenging because of its assault but dont worry for there are ropes installed along the trail. There is a 145 step stair before reaching the peak where you can see a panoramic view of Cavite and Batangas. Just remember to protect the wildlife and leave no trace of garbage behind.
Bañaco, C — Google review
We joined a day hike tour to Mt. Pico de Loro, starting at 7 AM and finishing around 12 NN. The hike was surprisingly easy and beginner-friendly. Perfect if you’re bringing along friends or family who haven’t tried hiking before. The trail is mostly flat with only a few gradual ascents, which makes Pico de Loro a great “mother mountain” to recommend for first-timers. I also liked that there was a short orientation before the climb, and the whole area is very clean and well-maintained. Kudos to the LGU for managing it well! Just a reminder to fellow hikers: let’s all do our part and avoid leaving any trash. The tour guides were also very friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. Overall, it’s an easy yet fulfilling hike!
Catherine E — Google review
It's the highest mountain in Cavite. You need to have prior registration to climb as walk-ins are not allowed. It has 10 stations and the trek starts with gradual ascent in the forest. It's not too hot since you'll be walking within the forest but it's still best to bring 2-3L of water. It is a minor climb but I had a harder time here compared to Mt. Ulap because of the part at Station 9 where you need to lift yourself with a rope to climb. On the summit, there's an amazing 360 view of Cavite and Batangas though what amazed me the most is how they were able to build stairs going to the peak. I've heard from my guide that it was them who carried all the materials and built the stairs because prior to the stairs, a lot of climbers slide down frequently. It was for safety reasons.
Jo F — Google review
Mt. Pico de Loro offers a rewarding hike with stunning panoramic views from the summit. The trail is a mix of challenging climbs and easier sections, making it great for both beginners and seasoned hikers. On the way to the peak, the path is more dangerous as stones provide little traction to the uphill/downhill traverse. Exercise caution and wear appropriate footwear. Reaching the famous rock monolith is an exciting bonus! The lush scenery and fresh air make the effort worth it. Just be prepared for the steep final ascent and pack enough water. A must-do for nature lovers!

Me coming back to this mountain several times is enough reason why this mountain is highly recommended for experienced and beginners alike. After closing for several years, Mt. Palay-Palay (Pico de Loro) is once again open to visitors and this time around, the hiking activities are managed more responsively. Would have been a great experience to climb the monolith or the “Toreng Bato” but it’s already cordoned off and that’s understandable. I hope that the hiking trails will be preserved for a very long time and what the park rangers are doing is a step towards the right direction.
Jom L — Google review
Mt. Pico De Loro is good for beginners. Depending on your speed, you can finish the climb in 2-3 hours. It is easier to climb during summer but more challenging during rainy season. The hardest part is walking on the muds, it is too slippery. It is advisable to wear shoes with spikes. It has an iconic huge stone standing on its own. They call it monolit and only one person at a time can climb it. It is better to climb this mountain early in the morning to avoid long lines in monolit. DIY is possible. There are stores along the way so you will not get hungry. You may bring your own meal but be sure to keep your trash with you. The view is breathtaking.
