Bagh-e-Bahu, also known as Bahu Bagh, is a popular park in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir. It is a well-maintained and spacious park with limited food options and ample open areas for children to play. The center of the park features a crown-shaped fountain and stairs, making it an attractive spot for visitors. Additionally, the park offers various selfie points and a water fountain show after 7pm.
One of the best picnic points in Jammu. Local people also used to visit the park for day outing. The park is big and well maintained and cleaned. There are some limited food points. Lot of open area for children’s and you find some slides too. The best attractive place is center of park which has crown shaped fountain and stairs in background. People used to visit center but believe me there are good place to send and enjoy behind park. Lots of selfie points created all around the park. The entry ticket is only 10 rs per head.

We visited this place in mid January and this place was so good to spend time with family; this place with vast area and flower garden and playground is enough to keep children occupied !
Chinmay M — Google review
This garden is located at Bahu fort. Garden maintenance is ok. Could be improved. One can view Jammu city from the garden deck. There is a musical fountain with lights that starts only after sunset. As we were not aware of it we missed it.
Travel_Heals_Mind — Google review
Park is well maintained, but non accessible for specially a led people. Musical fountain staff are fraud, there is a big problem with power disruption and they do not have any backup. Staff runaway once power is gone. No refund, be careful with this.
Pankaj J — Google review
The garden is located on the bank of Tawi River in the lap of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of Jammu City. People from all walks of life find it a beautiful place to spend some time with the nature.

Vaishno Devi

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Cave containing a manifestation of the Hindu Mother Goddess & leading site of pilgrimage.
Vaishno Devi Mandir is a truly divine and peaceful place. The spiritual atmosphere, scenic beauty, and overall experience are heart-touching. It's well-maintained and organized despite the heavy footfall. Everyone should visit at least once a year to feel the divine energy and connect spiritually. Highly recommended for those seeking peace and blessings.
Sunny S — Google review
Vaishno Devi is a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site in Jammu and Kashmir, located in a cave shrine atop the Trikuta mountain. It is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Vaishno Devi, an unmarried form of Mahalakshmi, Mahasarasvati, and Mahakali. Pilgrims travel to the shrine, which is managed by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, from the base town of Katra, a journey of about 13 km. I was in this temple with my friend. Mother will provide peace, prosperity and good health to the devotees.
Dr D — Google review
Visiting Mata Vaishno Devi was a truly divine and unforgettable experience. This was my first time going through the Tarakote Marg, and I must say it was a wonderful choice. The entire path is very calm, clean, and beautifully surrounded by nature. Walking through the peaceful route with greenery and mountain views gave a deep sense of positivity and devotion. The arrangements along the way were also good — resting points, clean washrooms, and food facilities were easily available. The environment was safe and well-maintained, making the yatra comfortable for families and elderly people as well. Reaching the holy Bhawan and having darshan of Mata Rani was an emotional and spiritual moment. The chants of “Jai Mata Di” echoed everywhere, filling the air with divine energy. It truly felt like all worries disappeared and blessings showered upon us. Overall, it was a peaceful and heart-touching experience. I will always remember this first yatra through Tarakote Marg — full of faith, nature, and serenity. Jai Mata Di! 🙏
YOGESH J — Google review
From the outset, the yatra to Vaishno Devi leaves a strong impression. The trek path, winding through scenic hills, sets the tone for a pilgrimage, rather than a quick visit. Reviewers commonly mention the powerful spiritual atmosphere, the devotion of pilgrims around you, and the sense of uplift you get upon reaching the Bhawan. For many, making the trek on foot adds to the sense of accomplishment and connection with the shrine. The natural setting - hills, green patches, the uphill climb - adds to the feeling that this is more than just a temple visit, but a journey of faith.
Vishvesh P — Google review
The Vaishno Devi Temple, nestled amidst the serene Trikuta Mountains in Jammu and Kashmir, is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. Every year, millions of devotees undertake the sacred journey, known as the Vaishno Devi Darshan, to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Mahalakshmi. The temple is located at an altitude of about 5,200 feet above sea level, near the town of Katra, which serves as the base camp for pilgrims. The journey to the shrine is not just a physical trek but a deeply spiritual experience filled with faith, devotion, and a sense of divine connection. The pilgrimage begins from Katra, where devotees register for the yatra and receive a yatra slip, which is mandatory for visiting the temple. The trek to the holy cave, around 13 kilometers long, can be completed on foot, by pony, palanquin, or via helicopter services up to Sanjichhat, from where the final stretch is covered on foot. Along the way, pilgrims chant “Jai Mata Di” with great enthusiasm, creating an atmosphere of devotion and energy. The path is well-maintained, with resting points, refreshment stalls, and medical facilities, ensuring the comfort and safety of visitors. The entire route is beautifully illuminated, especially at night, offering a mesmerizing view of the surrounding mountains. The temple itself is located inside a sacred cave where the Goddess manifests herself in the form of three natural rock formations, known as the Pindies, representing Mata Mahakali, Mata Mahalakshmi, and Mata Saraswati. These three forms symbolize the combined powers of strength, wealth, and wisdom. Unlike idols or images, these Pindies are naturally formed, which adds to the mystery and sanctity of the shrine. The atmosphere inside the holy cave is serene and filled with divine energy, making the darshan a spiritually uplifting experience for devotees. Another sacred spot along the route is Ardhkuwari Cave, also called Garbhjoon, where it is believed that Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for nine months before finally emerging to slay the demon Bhairavnath. After visiting the main shrine, devotees often continue their journey to the Bhairavnath Temple, located about two and a half kilometers away. It is said that the pilgrimage remains incomplete without paying homage to Bhairavnath, as Mata Vaishno Devi had granted him forgiveness and blessed him that her devotees would visit his shrine after hers. The Vaishno Devi Darshan is not only a journey of devotion but also a celebration of the spirit of endurance and unity. Pilgrims from all corners of the world, regardless of age, gender, or background, come together in faith and humility. The divine aura of the shrine, the chanting of hymns, and the breathtaking natural beauty of the Trikuta Hills make this pilgrimage a truly transformative experience. Whether one undertakes it for religious reasons, spiritual growth, or inner peace, the Vaishno Devi Yatra leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who complete it, reinforcing the eternal belief that where there is faith, there is the presence of the divine.
Samyak J — Google review
Very Beautiful The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, is one of India's most revered pilgrimage destinations, attracting millions of devotees annually. The journey to the shrine offers a blend of spiritual fulfillment and scenic beauty, though experiences can vary based on individual expectations and circumstances.

The Vaishno Devi trek is a divine and unforgettable experience 🙏🏞️. The 12 km uphill journey is filled with faith, devotion, and scenic mountain views. Despite the climb, the spiritual energy keeps you going, and reaching Mata Vaishno Devi’s shrine fills you with peace and positivity. A truly sacred experience every devotee should have once in a lifetime!

Masroor Rock-cut Temple

Sights & Landmarks
Masroor Rock Cut Temple, also known as Himalayan Pyramid, is a complex of monolithic rock-cut temples located in Masroor, Kangra Valley. The temple complex features ornate architectural carvings and is built in the shikhara style of classical Indian architecture. Dating back to the 8th to 10th centuries, these sandstone sikharas are hewn from living rock and are rare for North India.
It was an hour long drive from our air bnb in Rakkar, dharamshala. There are two routes, one going via tiara and gaggal road which is steeper and narrower than the state highway 23 road which has gentle slopes and obviously wider than the other but the distance is 9 kms more than the other. So the choice is yours. The place has relics of single stone carved temple. It's beautiful and so calm and serene. Whoever is interested in some history as well as some serene place, should absolutely visit and spend some time, just sitting and enjoying the beauty of nature around you.
Priyanka P — Google review
On return from Dharamshala to Chandigarh we planned to visit Masroor Rock cut temple. It is a real wonder as temples are built on one Rock just as in Ellora. Though temples were affected by 1905 earthquake but one can see the temple. Restoration work is going on and idols have been kept for worship. However no one is allowed to offer money.
Ranjay V — Google review
A monolithic rock cut temple of around eighth century. The place is not so popular among tourists. The architecture is wonderful and amazing. Although it was damaged by the 1905 earthquake, still what remains is awesome. A must visit for history lovers.
BIDHAN B — Google review
Masroor Rock Cut Temples – A Hidden Gem of Ancient Architecture Visited on: 6th May 2025 On 6th May 2025, we explored one of Himachal Pradesh’s lesser-known but truly awe-inspiring historical sites —the Masroor Rock Cut Temples. Located about 40 km from Dharamshala, this archaeological wonder is nestled in the quiet village of Masroor, offering a rare and mesmerizing blend of history, spirituality, and natural beauty. These temples are believed to date back to the 8th century and are carved entirely out of a single rock, much like the famous Kailasa Temple in Ellora. The complex consists of 15 monolithic rock-cut shrines, primarily dedicated to Lord Shiva, though some also depict Vishnu and other deities from the Hindu pantheon. What’s most striking is the intricate detailing in the stone carvings—though many have weathered over the centuries, the remaining figures, pillars, and facades still hint at the grandeur of the original structure. The temples face the Dhauladhar mountain range, and there's a serene water tank in front that reflects the entire complex beautifully—especially during clear daylight. The site is relatively quiet and uncrowded, allowing you to explore at your own pace, absorb the silence, and marvel at the craftsmanship. There’s a calm, sacred energy in the air, and it's easy to feel transported to a different era. Highlights of Our Visit: - The panoramic view of the snow-capped Dhauladhars from the temple platform was breathtaking. - The cool stone interiors offered a welcome break from the summer heat. - The peaceful ambiance made it ideal for quiet reflection and photography. Travel Tips: - You'll need to purchase tickets online from the website of the Archeological Society of India - Best visited in the morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds. - Carry water and snacks, as there are limited facilities around the site. - Wear sturdy shoes—some parts involve uneven steps and rocky paths. - Respect the sanctity of the temple area and avoid climbing over fragile carvings. Final Thoughts: The Masroor Rock Cut Temples are a true hidden treasure of Himachal Pradesh. Though not as widely publicized as other heritage sites in India, they deserve much more recognition for their architectural and historical significance. If you're in the Dharamshala or Kangra region, make the time to visit—you’ll walk away with a sense of wonder and deep appreciation for ancient Indian artistry.

The Masroor Temple, also known as the Rock-Cut Temple, is an 8th-century Hindu temple complex located in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. It's a remarkable example of ancient Indian rock-cut architecture, carved out of a single sandstone rock. According to local mythology, the Pandavas built the temple during their exile. The temple complex consists of 15 rock-cut temples arranged around a rectangular water pond, reflecting the intricate carvings in its still waters. The temple showcases North Indian Nagara architecture style, with a central shikhara tower and a sacred pool. The temple is dedicated to deities to Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, and Saura of Hinduism, with sculptures and reliefs depicting various gods and goddesses. The temple complex was first reported by Henry Shuttleworth in 1913 and is believed to have been built between the 7th -9th centuries AD.The temple is located in the Kangra Valley, 43 km from Dharamshala. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.the Entry fees I think ₹25 And the Best Time to Visit in this month ie October to February forpleasant weather and festivals.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Mesmerizing Slice of Heaven – Apharwat Peak, Kashmir Visiting Apharwat Mountain was a surreal experience — truly one of the most breathtaking places on Earth. Located near Gulmarg in Kashmir, the journey to the top via the Gondola ride is magical, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, lush valleys, and the pristine beauty of the Pir Panjal range. The air is crisp and clean, and the silence at the top is soul-stirring. Whether you're there in winter for skiing or in summer for trekking and sightseeing, the beauty of Apharwat never fails to amaze. The contrast between the green meadows and distant white peaks creates a picture-perfect landscape. The staff at the Gondola station were helpful, and the entire experience was smooth and well-organized. I recommend going early in the morning to avoid the crowd and witness the serene sunrise over the mountains. Apharwat is not just a destination — it's a memory you carry forever. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, adventure seekers, and anyone who wants to experience paradise on Earth. 🌄✨

It is the 14000 feet high peak from sea level. You can take gandola phase 2 to reach here from the gulmarg. It cost rs 1700. You can book the gandola tickets in advance. We visited in September there was no snow. I have visited this place few years back in june month and there was lots of snow. The peak usually covers with snow all around the years. Weather was very good and it was all cloudy. It felt like heaven because of the cloud. We had Maggie and kahwa at the peak it was different experience to have hot Maggie at 0 degree and at the height of 14000 ft peak. Must visit place in Kashmir highly recommend.

The serenity here makes you feel so close to nature, away from all the noise of life. 💚 At the top, I enjoyed a cup of warm Kashmiri Kahwa ☕ which made the experience even more magical. The cool breeze, mesmerizing ambience, and untouched beauty of the Himalayas make this place a must-visit. If you love peace, nature, and scenic beauty – Apharwat Peak via Gondola is an experience you’ll cherish forever. 🌿🌸

Apharwat is a beautiful Mountain which is situated in Gulmarg. During our family trip to ‘Kashmir’ one day we visited Apharwat Mountain through cable car at ‘Gulmarg Gondala’. As it is the prime attraction of Gulmarg, there is a heavy rush of tourists on every day. The ticket for first phase is Rs. 750/- and from first phase to second phase is Rs.900/- . We went to phase 2 Apharwat Mountain from Kongdoori phase 1. The cable ride was very comfortable and enjoyable. Once we reached the pick it was snow everywhere. There are so many activities for our enjoyment. Over all experience was very good for us and we enjoyed the ride very well.

The decision to climb up the Apharwat peak was one of the best I made during my Gulmarg trip. It was an experience of a lifetime. Apharwat peak is the highest point of Pirpanjal range. It is situated 4390 meters (14,400 feet) above mean sea level. You can reach half way around in the gondola ride, thereafter you need to climb up to the summit. I trekked up during the peak of winter season. The roads leading to the summit made by indian army was all ice laden, so I had to climb steep up through thick snow. It is all fun and beautiful till you are in the gondola ride, but up here, you get to see the mighty nature in all it's glory. There weren't anybody else except for two of our local guides and me and my co - trekkers. It is highly recommended that you take a local fellow who knows the terrain if you are climbing uphill, since there will be treacherous snow trodden rocky paths. If you get stuck or injured, it will be highly unlikely that someone will find you for hours together if you are all on your own. The climb to the summit will take 2.5hrs from the gondola station phase 2 and it's around 2km straight up. There are no shops Or equipment renting places available at phase 2, so you have to come well prepared. On the other side of the summit is the Alpather lake or the frozen lake, which will remain snow covered and frozen throughout winter. The LoC and PoK is barely 3-4km from the summit. It will be a rather easy trek if you are visiting during summer, as the road to the summit will be snow free. The serenity of this place is beyond words. If you are an adventure seeker and want to go offbeat in Gulmarg, you have got to see this for yourself.

This trek is easy and can be done in half an hour. The scenes from the top of the peak are so beautiful. You can get a full 360° view of the Himalayan ranges. On reaching the top, there is a temple where you can pray and even have darshan of Mount Kailash using a telescope. Very beautiful place. We went when the snow was just about to melt in March.

Amazing place to visit for everyone. Very easy trek, harldy 1/2 hr to reach on top. You can spend as much time as you want, you will be in between the clouds at top. There is Temple on top and various shops for snacks. Toilet facilities available. Near temple. We visited in month of September end it was very less crowded and peaceful. Parking available at road side.

Dainkund Peak is an absolute must-visit in Dalhousie! The hike to the Pohlani Devi Temple is beautiful and very enjoyable, with a well-defined, easy-to-follow path, so there’s absolutely no need for a guide. The trail is clean, scenic, and perfect for anyone looking to enjoy nature at a relaxed pace. Once you reach the top, you’re rewarded with stunning 360° panoramic views of the mountains and valleys around — truly breathtaking and worth every step of the hike. The cool breeze, peaceful surroundings, and wide open vistas make it a memorable experience. Highly recommended for nature lovers, casual hikers, and anyone visiting Dalhousie!

Trekking at Dainkund Peak was an unforgettable experience, offering a perfect blend of serenity and natural beauty. As I ascended the trail, a peaceful silence enveloped the surroundings, broken only by the soft rustling of leaves and the distant calls of birds. The path meandered through lush green meadows and dense forest patches, gradually leading me above the clouds. Walking amidst the mist and cool mountain breeze felt surreal—as if nature itself had paused in quiet admiration. From the summit, the panoramic view of the surrounding was breath taking. It was a soul-refreshing journey, where every step brought a deeper connection to nature.

Amazing trek with beautiful panaromic.views.It is highest point of Dalhousie.I would say more scenic and beautiful than Khajiaar. It takes hardly half an hour to reach top from base. Complete the trek to reach Pohani Mata temple. Please seek advice from locals in case of inclement weather

Trek is easy. First 600 meters of the treck is inclined after that it's easy and the path is straight. Pohlani mata temple is at the peak and you can view manimahesh kailash if there is no fog. And the view is so amazing literally so beautiful. If you're visiting Dalhousie you must go here.

One of the Best Place to visit Daikund Trek if you are planning to go to Dalhousie. It’s a 1.5 km trek. The gates will be closed on 4:00pm. Try to reach early. Must carry your water bottles, you will definitely need it. At the top there is a popular Pholani Devi Temple. View from the top is mesmerising. You will definitely love and enjoy it.

Marvellous place. Do the trek, climb the peaks. View from top of the mountain is breath taking. Approximately 30-35 mins of trek from airforce barrier.

The Gulmarg Gondola is a must-visit attraction, offering an exhilarating cable car ride that takes you to an altitude of 14,000 feet above sea level. As the second highest and second longest cable car in the world, it provides breathtaking views of Gulmarg and Khilanmarg, allowing visitors to marvel at the natural beauty of the Himalayas.
The Gulmarg Gondola is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! 🚡 Surrounded by breathtaking snow-capped mountains and endless valleys, the cable car ride offers spectacular views that feel like heaven on earth. The ride itself is smooth and thrilling, especially when going up to Phase 2, where the air is fresh and the scenery is magical. It’s well managed, and the staff are helpful. I recommend booking tickets online in advance to avoid long queues. Whether in summer with green meadows or in winter with white snow everywhere, the experience is unforgettable. A must-visit attraction in Kashmir for nature and adventure lovers. ❄️🌲
MOHAMMED M — Google review
The Gulmarg Gondola is one of the most thrilling and scenic cable car rides I have ever experienced, and it is easily one of the highlights of visiting Gulmarg. Known as one of the highest cable car systems in the world, it offers an unparalleled view of the majestic Himalayas, snow-covered slopes, and lush green meadows depending on the season. From the very first step onto the gondola, you are treated to a sense of excitement and anticipation. The ride is divided into two phases: Phase 1 takes you from Gulmarg town to Kongdori, and Phase 2 goes up to Apharwat Peak. Both sections provide breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. During winter, the slopes are blanketed in snow, making it perfect for skiing, snowboarding, or simply enjoying the winter wonderland. In summer, the same slopes transform into vibrant green meadows dotted with wildflowers, offering excellent opportunities for photography and sightseeing. The gondola cabins are comfortable and safe, with glass windows that allow for 360-degree views. The ride itself is smooth, though at times it can feel slightly steep — which only adds to the thrill. The journey up takes around 8–12 minutes for the first phase and slightly longer for the second phase, giving you ample time to soak in the scenery and take pictures. Tickets can be purchased at the base station, but I highly recommend booking online in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to avoid long queues. Prices are reasonable considering the uniqueness and scale of the gondola, and the experience is worth every rupee. Once you reach the top, the panoramic views of Apharwat Peak and the surrounding Gulmarg region are absolutely mesmerizing. Whether you are an adventure seeker, a photographer, or someone who just wants to enjoy the fresh mountain air, the Gondola offers something for everyone. Food stalls and small shacks at the top provide basic refreshments, but most visitors come here for the scenery rather than dining. Overall, the Gulmarg Gondola is more than just a cable car ride; it is an experience that combines adventure, natural beauty, and breathtaking views. Whether you’re visiting in snow-covered winter or lush green summer, it is an absolute must-do activity in Gulmarg. The convenience, safety, and sheer beauty of the ride make it unforgettable and something I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to this region.

An unforgettable experience, offering stunning panoramic views as you glide smoothly above the landscape. The journey is peaceful and scenic, making it perfect for photography lovers and nature enthusiasts. It’s well-maintained, safe, and gives you a unique aerial perspective that you simply can’t get from the ground. A must-try for anyone visiting!

You can take a ride in Gondola whenever you like as there is not many tourists due to Pahalgam incident. You can take Gondola first phase and enjoy one of the most beautiful place on earth. The sight is incredible. There is washroom and restaurants.. from there you can take second phase of Gondola to Apharwat peak where you can enjoy the snow cap mountain around you... You will praise God for creating such a beautiful place. It may be better if you book online, for gondola ticket but tourists are not so many at present and you can take your ticket on spot, there is no time issue right now..first phase is 800 per person while second phase is 1000 per person. There is a parking lot at the foot of the mountain where you can have food and buy whatever you might need on the mountain.. and the gondola ride centre is a walking distance from the parking lot
Ma M — Google review
One of the best Gondola ride experience, we went for both phases. Phase 1 you can do mostly all good sports like skiing , sledge ride etc. in snowy season, we were lucky when we went in mid march it snowed for few days just before our arrival, on the day also it was fresh snowing lightly.nice views. We bought ticket in advance online a month or so back.
Abhishek S — Google review
Gulmarg was absolutely magical! ❄️ I visited in January this year, and it was my first time seeing snow.. what a dream!!! The drive from Srinagar itself was so scenic and peaceful. Just a heads-up though, there are quite a few vendors on the way who’ll insist you rent boots, jackets etc. We were wearing proper hiking shoes and didn’t need any of it. When we went, Phase 2 of the gondola was closed, so we went up to Phase 1, but honestly, that was more than enough, it was completely snow-covered and breathtaking! Make sure to book your gondola tickets online well in advance, even a month before if possible. The lines are very long, so some patience is needed. At the top, there’s a restaurant with igloo-style domes outside — really cute! The igloo domes had a separate cost (₹2000 including a drink, as far as I can remember.. it’s great for pictures) We didn’t eat a full meal at the restaurant, but enjoyed a hot cup of kahwa, which was perfect for the cold. Even their staff are all very kind and helpful. There’s a restroom available there as well, though it’s chargeable (₹20) if you’re not dining. A lot of people offer snow bikes and sledge rides (around ₹2,500), but we skipped those since the gondola ticket is already two-way and the views are gorgeous enough on their own. Overall, Gulmarg was stunning and worth the trip, though because of the heavy crowds and long wait times, I personally don’t see myself going again — but I’m so glad I went once! ❤️
Marium J — Google review
Best during snow 🌨️ When I visited in October, there was no crowding and very small line and you can take the ticket in line itself. During peak season you need to book the ticket well in advance else you will not be able to visit. Hence plan basis the season and online ticket availability.
Ashish K — Google review
Gulmarg Gondola – Honest Review Gulmarg’s natural beauty is exceptional, but tourist management is extremely poor. On arrival, visitors are pushed by “mandatory” guides and repeatedly approached by horse riders, drivers, and vendors who continue to pressure even after refusal. Phase-1 boarding is orderly, but the return is chaotic with no directions. Phase-2 online payment is unreliable—UPI failures were ignored despite proof, and cash isn’t accepted. Additional guide fees and overpriced activities at the top add to the inconvenience. Unauthorized cars charge ₹2,000–₹3,000 for places not worth visiting. A 45-minute mechanical halt caused crowd chaos with no security support. The army deserves credit for managing tough conditions, but government oversight, signage, pricing transparency, and crowd control are severely lacking. Overall, a disappointing experience and visitors should be cautious.

Nestled in the enchanting town of Khajjiar within Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, Khajjiar Lake is a stunning natural gem that draws travelers with its serene charm and picturesque surroundings. Often dubbed the 'Mini Switzerland of India,' this mid-altitude lake is embraced by lush meadows, towering cedar trees, and majestic snow-capped mountains, creating a breathtaking landscape reminiscent of European vistas.
"Mini Switzerland of India" Dense forests, huge meadows, and a lake in the center. It is a 21 km curvy ride through dense forests to the lake. The moment you reach Khajjiar, it compels you with its beauty. Beautiful green meadows, covered by forest, and a lake in the center make the place vibrant, enhanced by vendors and tourists. It is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. #MiniSwitzerland #Khajjiar #HimalayanBeauty #TravelDiaries

Khajjiar Lake is situated in the middle of Khajjiar Valley. This is a small lake with lots of fishes. When we visited the lake most of the lake was covered with water grass. I think this lake need more maintenance.

Nice place. Much commercialized, but the beauty is superb, in the winters, when I got to see the frozen lake, making the place all white. I could only imagine, how much beautiful, it would be, if the place is remote with very less people. That would be gem in the middle of the forest. But the place is very much in demand, with lot of people visiting here & lot of business, activities, selling of products, etc going on. Resulting in lot of vehicles, traffic, mud, jams, horns, which takes away some of the serenity & beauty of the place. But, even then, a frozen lake is beautiful, which you mesmerize most. The place is, though quite clean, even after so much of human activities going on. Worth a visit. Share your like, if the review is appreciated, for it would mean that it is helping others out there exploring.

Visiting Khajjiar Lake in Himachal Pradesh was an enchanting experience that left me awe-inspired by nature's beauty. The moment I reached this picturesque location, I was greeted by the breathtaking landscape of lush green meadows, surrounded by towering deodar trees. I took a peaceful stroll around the lake, absorbing the tranquility and enjoying the cool breeze that gently caressed my face. ->For adventure seekers, there were options for horse riding and zorbing, which added an extra dose of excitement to the visit. -> Highly recommended for those seeking solace amidst nature's wonders! 🏔️🚶‍♂️📸

I visited Khajjiar shortly after the monsoon (one of the best seasons to visit). It is a sprawling green meadow with a marsh lake in the middle and surrounded all around by deodar trees. There is a cottage run by Himachal tourism situated right in the meadow (the iconic photo that you see when you search Khajjiar in Google), where you can book your stay through the Himachal tourism website. It was lush green and the weather was pleasant in September. The good thing about Khajjiar is that it's not overcrowded (yet). There is so much fresh air and tranquility. You can take a good walk around the perimeter and then sit on a bench and enjoy the view how much ever you want. This place is a great escapade from the noise and crowd of the city.

Yousmarg, an unexplored hill station in the northern part of India, is a hidden gem located 80 km west of Jammu and Kashmir State. Nestled just 47 km south of Srinagar, it boasts snow-covered hills and lush green meadows dotted with pine and fir trees reminiscent of the European Alps.
On visiting Yousmarg, you can enjoy the meadows surrounded by snowclad mountains on one side. Here many activities can be done. One being the Horse Ride to Nilnag Lake. The path to Nilnag Lake is quite muddy in some places passing through the pine forests

A beautiful place, better than even sonamarg and remove the Gondola and it's better than Gulmarg too. Very few tourists, serene meadows, still very clean and calming. On the flip side, the route is not well maintained, facilities such as washrooms, restaurants, seating etc are in a very poor condition. Visited in winters, and so that may be a reason. Otherwise a beautiful meadow..

Beautiful Meadows Valley was one of the most peaceful and scenic places I’ve ever visited. The wide green landscapes, fresh air, and colorful blooms made it feel like a hidden paradise. It was a perfect spot for relaxation, photography, and reconnecting with nature. It’s truly disappointing that the valley is now closed. A place so naturally beautiful deserved to be preserved and cherished. I hope it reopens someday, because experiences like this are rare to find.

Yousmarg is a stunning, less-crowded alternative to Gulmarg. If you love nature and peace, this is your spot! The main meadow is simply gorgeous, surrounded by tall pine forests and snow-capped peaks
Aabid A — Google review
Yousmarg is truly a hidden gem of Kashmir. Unlike the more crowded tourist spots such as Gulmarg or Pahalgam, this place offers complete peace and untouched natural beauty. The drive from Srinagar itself is refreshing, passing through villages, orchards, and the famous Charar-e-Sharif. As soon as you reach Yousmarg, you are welcomed by endless meadows surrounded by dense pine forests and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The air feels fresh and pure, and the calmness of the place instantly relaxes you. It is perfect for those who want to escape the busy life and spend some quiet time in nature. There are many things to explore here—short treks to Doodhganga, Nilnag Lake, and Sang-e-Safed make the experience even more memorable. Horse riding across the green pastures is another must-try activity. In summers, the meadows are full of wildflowers, while in winters the entire valley is covered in snow, turning it into a white wonderland. What I loved most about Yousmarg is its serenity. It is not commercialized, so you truly get to enjoy the raw beauty of Kashmir. If you are a nature lover, photographer, or someone looking for peace and fresh air, Yousmarg is a place you must not miss. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kashmir.”

Shankaracharya Hill, a prominent landmark in Srinagar, offers an enchanting blend of natural beauty and spiritual significance. This hill is home to the ancient Shankaracharya Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which dates back over a thousand years and is one of India's oldest temples. As you hike up the hill, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Srinagar and its picturesque valley.
Opens Morning 7:30 am Entry Closes 4:30 pm Lord Shiva (Jyesteshwara) 🔱🕉️ idol inside hill... oldest temple built in 3rd century. 240 steps to enter the temple. The incarnation of lord Shiva Aadiguru Shankaracharya meditated here for some days....must visit 💞 Nice view from top of the hill, almost seems entire srinagar City beautiful view....🌆
Shiva V — Google review
Sri Shankaracharya Hill in Srinagar is the hill where Adi Shankaracharya did meditation in a cave nearly. The temple is dedicated to Shiva. Details of this can be googled. There are 240 odd steps. The last about 20 steps are about one foot high. Those who have arthritis or leg pain keep off. Instead you can do seva at the Langar at the start point. Try to reach early as possible as it gets crowded. The traffic is kind of unorganized hence gets messy. Autos are preferred mode to travel. Need to bargain hard with them. Empty your bladder before as the toilets are very unclean. It's at the highest point in Srinagar, therefore, it's under military. For an average person it will take about 20 minutes. Don't miss visiting the cave where the Shankaracharya did meditation.
Dilip G — Google review
I recently had the privilege of visiting the magnificent Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar, and I must say, it was an awe-inspiring experience. This ancient temple deserves every bit of its 5-star rating. Perched atop the Shankaracharya Hill, the temple holds immense importance for Hindus. It is believed to have been built around 200 BC by the revered philosopher and scholar, Adi Shankaracharya. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the most revered deities in Hinduism, and serves as a prominent pilgrimage site for devotees. The significance of the Shankaracharya Temple lies not only in its architectural splendor but also in its spiritual aura. As I climbed the stone steps leading to the temple, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of reverence and connection to the divine. The panoramic views of Srinagar and the surrounding valley only added to the sanctity of the place. Inside the temple, I was greeted by a beautiful idol of Lord Shiva, radiating an aura of tranquility and divinity. The priest shared insightful stories and teachings associated with the temple, deepening my understanding of Hindu traditions and beliefs. The architectural style of the Shankaracharya Temple reflects the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir and showcases intricate carvings and craftsmanship. It stands as a testament to the devotion and artistry of the past. For Hindus, a visit to the Shankaracharya Temple is not just a spiritual journey but a reaffirmation of their faith and connection to Lord Shiva. It is a place where devotees seek blessings, solace, and guidance. I highly recommend visiting the Shankaracharya Temple to anyone traveling to Srinagar, especially those interested in exploring Hindu spirituality and the cultural heritage of Kashmir. Overall, my experience at the Shankaracharya Temple was unforgettable. It left me with a profound sense of spirituality and a deeper appreciation for the significance of this sacred place in Hinduism. It is undoubtedly a must-visit destination in Srinagar.

This temple is situated on the Hill. You will find lot of people visiting to this place. Security is available through out and will keep the count on the vehicle going up with number of people. Might be you have to walk approximately for 400 meters since so many vehicles are there. On reaching to the temple you get the security check plus need to climb approximately 250 stairs to reach the temple but it's worth to reach and see the oldest temple and the 360 degree view of Srinagar

This offbeat destination offers a serene escape for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. The lake is renowned for its abundance of lotus flowers and water lilies, creating a scenic landscape throughout the year. It's also a haven for bird watchers as various aquatic birds flock to the area annually.
One of the most peaceful and serene spots to visit near Srinagar, in Kashmir. Very beautiful place, and much more peaceful compared to Dal Lake. The weather was especially lovely on the day we visited. We went for a Shikara ride in the lake, and it was really calming and quiet. This is a place which is more frequented by locals. It is apparently much more in demand and sought after in the summer season. Must visit!

Surrounded by lush gardens and majestic hills, the lake is crystal clear and reflects the sky like a mirror. Dal Lake is calm, peaceful, and much less crowded than expected, making it a beautiful spot to relax. The shikara rides are a great experience, but they’re quite costly—so make sure to bargain before booking .

Best place to explore and one of the most famous point in Srinagar. Preferred activity here is shikara ride. My suggestion would be go for 7 point Shikara ride to experience the pure atmosphere of Dal lake.

Dal Lake in Srinagar is a beautiful and serene place with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and vibrant shikaras. You’ll find snacks, floating tea–coffee stalls, barbecue chicken, and fresh fish being served on moving boats, adding to the charm. Dal Lake, known as the "Jewel in the crown of Kashmir," is an urban lake in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Surrounded by the majestic Pir Panjal mountains and lush Mughal gardens, the lake is a hub of vibrant local life and a top destination for tourist Key features: Shikara rides: A ride in one of the lake's iconic gondola-like wooden taxi boats is one of the most popular activities. Shikaras ferry people to houseboats and landmarks and serve as floating shops selling flowers, handicrafts, and vegetables. Houseboats: Staying on a traditional houseboat is a unique and sought-after experience. These elaborately carved wooden boats, many with luxurious amenities, originated during the British Raj, when foreigners were forbidden from owning land in Kashmir. Floating gardens and markets: Locally known as "Rad" in Kashmiri, floating gardens are crafted from interwoven vegetation and earth, and are used to grow crops like lotus flowers, melons, and vegetables. Early in the morning, vendors assemble in their shikaras for a floating market to sell their fresh produce. Char Chinar Island: This small, picturesque island on the lake is a famous landmark, named for the four Chinar trees planted at its corners. Mughal Gardens: Several historic Mughal-era gardens, including Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh, line the eastern side of the lake. They offer stunning landscapes with terraced lawns, fountains, and flowerbeds.
ROHITH M — Google review
Dal Lake is one of the most iconic and serene spots in Srinagar. An early morning walk along its banks offers a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. The gentle boat rides, floating restaurants, and leisurely strolls around the lake add to its charm, making every moment feel refreshing and memorable.
KIRAN K — Google review
Stayed one night on a houseboat in Srinagar and absolutely loved it. Waking up to the calm of Dal Lake with shikaras gliding past was unforgettable. Our hosts were warm and attentive, and the people around the lake were wonderful. The floating vendors—fresh vegetables, flowers, antiques—were a real highlight and never pushy. Meena Bazaar felt genuinely authentic, with quality items at fair prices. Everything felt safe, clean, and beautifully looked after. If you’re considering a houseboat stay, go for it—one night wasn’t enough. Highly recommended!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Sinthan Top is a stunning mountain pass and a popular tourist destination, accessible only in the summer months. Located about a 4-hour drive from Srinagar, it stands at an impressive 12,000 ft above sea level and serves as the starting point for various trekking routes to the upper region. The area is often covered in frozen ice throughout the year and may experience snow even during the summer if it rains.
A serene, offbeat gem in Kashmir. Expect breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and valleys. It's less crowded than popular spots, offering a tranquil experience. Great for photography and some adventure like trekking and snow activities when accessible. Be prepared for potentially challenging roads and limited facilities. A must-visit for those seeking natural beauty away from the crowds. They allow entry before 2.30 pm...
Sabeen A — Google review
Positives : 1. Scenic Beauty: “Breathtaking views all around. The drive to Sinthan Top is an experience in itself!” 2. Peaceful and Serene: “Unlike other crowded tourist spots, this place feels untouched and tranquil.” 3. Great for Road Trips: “One of the most beautiful drives in Kashmir. The winding roads with snow walls on both sides are magical.” 4. Snow Even in Summers: “Visited in May and still saw snow! Kids loved playing in it.” 5. Offbeat Destination: “Perfect for those who want to avoid mainstream tourist places and explore hidden gems.” Negatives : 1.Poor Road Conditions (seasonal): “Roads can be rough and risky, especially during early spring or winter. Drive with caution. 2. Limited Facilities: “No proper food or restrooms available. Carry your own supplies.” 3. Connectivity Issues: “Mobile networks were weak or unavailable at the top.” 4. Weather Can Change Quickly: “Clear one moment, foggy and cold the next. Carry warm clothes regardless of the season.” 5. Remote Location:- “Takes time to reach and there’s not much else nearby, so plan accordingly.”

Sinthan top is breathtaking. a not to miss place for sure if you are an adverture seeker.
Saim K — Google review
Visited in June 2024. It is a mountain pass and a popular tourist destination. Around 4hrs one-way drive from Srinagar. It is a starting point of many trekking routes to upper region. The location has frozen ice most of the time around the year and will snow even summer time if it rains. Moreover, the view during the drive up to the Top is wonderful. But it is not a proper spot for children. If you don't bring own warm cloths, then you can rent on the way and also on the top. However, check carefully and bargain. They tend to give faulty jacket and other items. Also you can find snow-jets for rent and they will take you little higher than the normal area. But the cost is too much high.
Mahbubul I — Google review
This view point is located at 12000ft high from sea level. Covered with snow at mere places even in June. Adventure activities like snow bike, sledging are available with higher cost. Wearing snow jackets, gloves and boots which are available in rental basis are advisable to enjoy the climate prevailant there. Worth visiting once in a lifetime.
Raj K — Google review
Very nice and serene place. Less crowd than other popular attractions but much better experience. You can step out of your vehicle on to the snow directly. No need for any horse ride or local taxi.

What an amazing piece of landscape. One feels on top of the world. Really peaceful and stunning area! Just imagine how would a person feel at 12 thousand feet above sea level! One forgets every worry and uplifts the mood. Beautiful trekking area!

Sinthan Top is a high mountain pass situated at an elevation of about 3,748 meters (12,300 feet) in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It serves as a crucial link between Kishtwar and Anantnag districts, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. 🥶⛄️ The pass is characterized by its pristine natural beauty, with lush green meadows, dense forests, and clear blue skies. 🌨️It is a popular destination for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers, offering opportunities for trekking, hiking, and photography. The road to Sinthan Top is known for its sharp curves and steep climbs, making the journey both challenging and exhilarating. In the summer months, the area is accessible and attracts many visitors looking to escape the heat of the lower regions. During the winter, heavy snowfall often blocks the pass, adding to its rugged charm. Sinthan Top remains relatively less commercialized compared to other tourist spots in the region, providing a serene and unspoiled environment for travelers.

A Slice of Heaven on Earth – Betaab Valley, Pahalgam Betaab Valley, also known as Hajan Valley, is truly one of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited. Barwalla Waterfall is a visually striking spot located near the Summal Power Grid in Kangan. However, it's important to understand that this is not a natural waterfall—it is actually the overflow from the power grid, which can be extremely dangerous. The area has witnessed sudden surges of water, especially during peak flow or rainfall, and people have been trapped in the waterfall zone during such incidents. Despite its beauty, entering the waterfall or trying to get too close is strongly discouraged. There are no safety sirens or barriers in place, so awareness and caution are crucial. Heroism or thrill-seeking can be fatal here. The water current can intensify without warning, making it extremely unsafe. The best and safest view is from the opposite side of the waterfall, where you can enjoy the full scenery without putting yourself at risk. It’s a good spot for photography or a quiet nature break—just from a safe distance. Pros: Beautiful and peaceful surroundings Less crowded; good for photography from afar Cons: Man-made overflow, not a natural waterfall Dangerous to approach; no safety systems in place Tips: Stay on the safe side of the waterfall Do not enter the water or get too close Visit with caution and never alone Verdict: A scenic spot best enjoyed from a distance. Respect the power of the water and prioritize safety.

Thajiwas Glacier is a must-see destination in Sonamarg, Kashmir. It's a stunning snow glacier that offers breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience. However, visitors should be cautious of locals running ice scooters who may overcharge for their services. Additionally, local taxi operators may demand high prices for short distances, so it's advisable to negotiate and consider walking to fully enjoy the beauty of the area.
Sonmarg, often referred to as the "Meadow of Gold," is another must-visit destination in Kashmir. Similar to Gulmarg, this enchanting place offers snow-covered landscapes throughout the year, making it a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. A visit to the Thajiwas Glacier is a highlight of Sonmarg. To reach the glacier, you can take a pony ride, which adds a touch of adventure to the journey. Alternatively, union cabs are available to take you to various scenic points. During our visit, we opted for the pony ride to the glacier, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sight of the pristine snow and the thrill of being surrounded by such natural beauty made it truly magical. For those seeking more fun, there are sledges available, where locals will drag you up the snowy slopes for an exhilarating ride down. Additionally, skiing and other snow activities are offered, ensuring there's something for everyone. We spent a delightful half-day here, from the afternoon until late evening, enjoying the activities and the serene ambiance. Sonmarg also has plenty of food stalls where you can savor local delicacies, including the famous Kashmiri Qahwa, a warm and aromatic tea that's perfect for the chilly weather. However, it's important to note that if you're planning to buy dry fruits or saffron, it's best to purchase them from Pampore, Pahelgam known for its authenticity and quality. A practical tip: Make sure to rent snow boots, as regular shoes won't suffice in the cold and snowy conditions. This destination is perfect for families, offering a mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural experiences. Our family had an amazing time here, and it's a place we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kashmir.

A must visit place. Really beautiful and quiet place for nature lovers and people who like to explore nature. There are tea and Maggie stalls near by and barista nearby. Horse rides are available, however you can also trek to this place. The glacier is about 5km from the highway and it’s an easy trek (depends if you’re active or mostly sedentary). Do visit, sit there for a moment and embrace the tranquil landscape! Note: Please do not litter. Respect nature and the locals! Make sure you carry all waste that you generate with you and dispose it properly in a dustbin! Be a responsible traveler!

Stunning. You must come here to see the scenic beauty and a divine feeling. Absolute serene and scenic. Use sledge to go till 18 points and enjoy the view. With snow around it gives a different feeling. Visiting in the mid of the March is probably the best time. Better to start early around 10 am, and enjoy the least crowded space and no waiting time for snow bike either.

Amazing place, natures beauty at its best. The mountain the snow its really beautiful even the road that you travel in order to reach the destination is lovely. The only difficult part you have to get the pony’s to reach the glacier point and sometimes people scam by charging more for tourist, better bargain and ensure you get a good rate. Overall it’s a must visit place. Pictures shows the destination and the scenery on the way

Thajiwas Glacier in Sonmarg is stunning, with snow-capped peaks and streams that make it feel magical. You can easily reach by walking, no need for snow bikes or ponies. Beware of scams as many locals push for costly rides. Walking is peaceful, safe, and lets you enjoy the natural beauty at your own pace.
Alex T — Google review
It is a very easy hike along the valley. You can easily walk upto the pony shed, which you find on Google maps. Start at around 9 or before to beat the tourist crowd. It is a very picturesque valley. Locals do not advise walking beyond the pony shed, because of the bears in the area. However it is perfectly safe upto this point, and you have a well laid path as well. There's also a village on the way, so you aren't completely alone. Pony riders will try and convince you otherwise, do not fall for it, unless you really want to ride a pony. Fall season is a perfect time to visit (late october) it is not too cold, peaks have snow on them, and there's little crowd.

The Kargil War Memorial, also known as Dras War Memorial, is a war memorial built by the Indian Army commemorating the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan. The memorial is located on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway 1D, about 5 km from the city centre across the Tiger Hill, Kargil. The central feature of the memorial is a pink sandstone wall bearing a brass plate engraved with names of the soldiers who died during Operation Vijay. Visible from the site are the Tololing Heights, Tiger Hill, and Point 4875 (Batra Top), where fighting took place during the conflict. The memorial features the Captain Manoj Pandey gallery, which commemorates a young officer who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military award, for leadership during the war.

Absolutely fantastic experience. The army pride and valour is felt closely. The museum takes you back in time and the way army personnel explain it there are goose bumps. The section which has letters written by the martyrs definitely wells up your eyes. Beat part was 7 min presentation by army jawan about the Kargil war. It was sheer display of class by soldier Gaikwad. He just won hearts and blew our mind. Kudos to Indian Army. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

On the National highway road touch a monestry or temple of Budhha is called maitray Budhha or Mulbekh chamba Budhha statue. One of the monastery's most remarkable features is the imposing rock-carved statue of Maitreya Buddha, which stands tall at around nine metres. This striking sculpture, carved into a natural rock face, is believed to be one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Ladakh.

This is tranquil beyond words, unless you get stuck with a bunch of motor mount tourists like I did. This 800 year old temple is dedicated to Maitrey Buddha and has a statue taller than the temple premise. There are many restaurants opposite to the temple and they serve good food. It is surrounded by scenic landscapes which provide ample photo opportunities.

The Chamba Buddha Statue is grand and beautiful. It's located bang on the NH1. There's a small temple or gompa around the foot of the statue. There were very few people when we visited and it felt very peaceful and serene. The area at the back of the statue is also quite beautiful.

It's an average place to visit unless you are spiritual and follow Buddhist culture otherwise there's nothing else. It's a very small place which is allowed for tourists, from outside it looks big due to their school but that's not allowed for outsiders. Entrance is Rs 50 per person

We didn't go into the monastery but had lunch at the restaurant right at the entrance. We did some nice photographs of the monastery from a distant vantage point around the sunset. Few hundred meters above the monastery is a nice photo point overlooking the moon landscape. It seems accessible by walking from Monastery otherwise you need to take a bit of a road detour

Nice place to visit in Srignar Leh highway. The place gaves you the spectacular view of the Lamayuru/The Moon Land and offers us a spiritual experience. Surrounded by majestic mountains, this peaceful spot provides an opportunity to contemplate nature's grandeur. Whether you are a nature lover or a photography enthusiast, this place is a must visit when in Ladakh. A truly magical experience that stays with you long after you leave…!!!

Beautiful place while you are doing local tour of Leh. The colours of two rivers meeting can be seen clearly. There are river rafting facilities available as well, make sure to carry spare clothes. You can also go near the river and spend time if the weather is favourable. The water is chilling cold.
Pranay P — Google review
Beautiful to see the river where my ancestors would have have drunk water and revered the Sindhu river. It meets the river Zanskar at this point so it’s beautiful and worth spending quiet moments there.
Vipul M — Google review
The confluence of River Indus and Zanskar is an awsome view. The place is commonly known as Sangam. One can see the beautiful confluence from Top or can do down, alongside river to see the two coloured water. The water of river Zanskar is blue green whereas the water of Indus river is bit muddy. The Sangam point has one restaurant (only this was open when we visited) where one can get to eat or book for rafting trip in river Zanskar. The place however has horrible washroom facility. These are basically closed small rooms with a hole on floor. Rafting trip can be taken for 8km (₹900/-), 16 km (₹1800) and 24km. The rafting trip of 8km is suitable for families with kids, as no one gets wet and you boat in still water. The trip of 16km and 24 km are for people looking for adventure. For additional ₹200/- transportation facility till the starting point of rafting can be taken. Since if you drive to the starting point and park your vehicle there, you end up rafting at Sangam point, then you will have ro go back to take your vehicle. If you have hired a taxi, they will also charge you extra to go till starting point. Wet suit and shoes or crocs are provided for the trip of 16km and 24km. Its better to take the trip in sunny weather as the water is really cold plus the wind makes it more cold. You can also bargain a bit depending season or number of tourist.
Jijo A — Google review
A truly magical place to see. You can clearly see the 2 rivers meeting each other and eventually flowing as one. There is snacks and coffee available next to this place. Also one can go for river rafting here where they will take you rafting on the sangam point. Things to consider before going for river rafting is the temperature of the water and if there is any heavy flow to the river which will make the rafting enjoyable. A must visit place.

Good tourist destination, one can witness the confluence of two rivers Indus and Zanskar. It's similar to that of Sangam in prayagraj i.e. the confluence of Ganga, Jamuna, Saraswati. It's a good place for photo sessions. One can capture various backgrounds.

No one should miss this nature’s marvel while in Leh/Ladakh region. The views are spectacular with clear line of merging water from both the rivers. Don’t miss the top views from the scenic spot at the highway before arriving down to the confluence spot.

Magnetic Hill

Magnetic Hill is a historical site in Leh Ladakh valley, known for its unique natural phenomenon where cars and water appear to move uphill against gravity. The location has gained popularity as a tourist attraction for those seeking to experience this inexplicable wonder. However, some have noted that the area's charm has been diminished due to the presence of small structures like cafeterias.
While the magic of the Magnetic Hill is an optical illusion, it has not stopped the creation of myths and lore about this phenomenon. This is more folklore than theory; the locals hold belief that a path to heaven once existed here.A common myth suggests that there is a magnetic anomaly or powerful magnetic field present at Magnetic Hill, which is responsible for the strange phenomenon. This belief is often fueled by the name "Magnetic Hill" itself, which implies a connection to magnetism. Some believe that the hill is a place of spiritual significance, where the laws of physics are suspended, and the boundary between the earthly and the supernatural is blurred. They believed that not everyone could experience this magic, only those deserving of heaven could. Some legends claim that Magnetic Hill was once home to an ancient civilization with advanced technology. According to these stories, the people of this civilization possessed knowledge of magnetic forces that allowed them to build structures and vehicles that could defy gravity. While these myths and legends add to the allure of Magnetic Hill, the scientific explanation behind the phenomenon is rooted in the principles of physics and optics. Nonetheless, these stories continue to be passed down through generations, adding to the mystique and magic of this natural wonder. It is said that there is a mysterious magnetic force emanating from the hill that pulls stationary vehicles within its range and makes them move uphill, though some contests that it is a mere optical illusion. The strange occurrence has been experienced and testified by travellers from all across the world. The Indus River flowing to the east of Magnetic Hill makes the surroundings a picture-perfect frame.Magnetic hill that is believed to defy gravity is located at a distance of 30km(s) from Leh on the Leh-Kargil Highway. Visited Magnetic Hill today — the so-called spot where your car is supposed to move uphill on its own, defying gravity. Like most people, I was curious and a bit excited to finally see this “anti-gravity” phenomenon that Leh is known for. But to be honest, it was underwhelming. We parked exactly on the marked spot, followed the instructions, and waited. Nothing. No mysterious pull, no uphill movement. Tried shifting into neutral, waited again — still nothing. Other vehicles around us seemed to have the same experience. I’d heard earlier that it was an optical illusion — that the layout of the surrounding hills creates a false sense of slope, making a downhill road appear to be uphill. And maybe once upon a time, that illusion did work. But now, with newly tarred roads, clearer surroundings, and our phone GPS showing actual elevation, the trick just doesn’t land anymore. You can actually see with the naked eye that the road slightly slopes downhill — so the mystery kind of dissolves. The location itself is scenic, no doubt. Vast open plains, dusty mountains, and the endless sky make for a great photo stop. But if you’re expecting some magnetic marvel — manage your expectations.
Utkersh B — Google review
I don’t see the magic everyone hyped for. Its a marked place by some people. Yes once your car engine put off, it gets moved, but it’s because of slope.
Pravin N — Google review
Visited July 19 2025 – Day 16 in India We spent a lovely afternoon at Magnetic Hill about 30 kilometers from Leh guided by our wonderful tour guide Angmo. She brought the place to life with her deep knowledge and warm storytelling. Though we did not notice any magnetic pull ourselves the experience was delightful and our two little girls ages 5 and 7 absolutely loved it. Magnetic Hill is a curious stretch of road locally famous as a gravity hill where vehicles parked in neutral appear to drift uphill defying logic. Many visitors believe in an unseen magnetic force while others explain it as an optical illusion shaped by the landscape and obstructed horizon. Mountains rising around the road trick the eye into misjudging the slope. Despite the science the legend of a road to heaven whispered by locals adds a layer of mystic charm. Angmo encouraged us to park the vehicle in a painted box on the road and though nothing dramatic occurred we took many photos capturing wide Himalayan panoramas and our girls giggling in wonder. The barren hills framed by distant snowy peaks and the flowing Indus River nearby offered a serene almost spiritual backdrop. Magnetic Hill holds significance as one of Ladakh’s most talked about roadside attractions. It is not just about whether the physics defy gravity it is about being in a striking high altitude landscape witnessing how perception and legend intertwine. The sense of mystery even subtle lingers in your memory long after you have continued driving along the Leh to Kargil road. Angmo’s gentle guidance enthusiasm and patience with our children made it even more special. She explained the theories shared stories of local folklore answered our endless questions and helped us feel connected to the land and its history. Although we did not feel our car being pulled upward what we experienced was far richer — the beauty of remote Ladakh framed by a whimsical myth joyful children exploring nature’s quirks and a guide who cared about our comfort and curiosity. I happily give Magnetic Hill four stars. It is a place where the landscape surprises you and stories unfold. With Angmo’s help it became a memory our family will cherish — a perfect blend of scenery intrigue and heartfelt guidance.

I visited Magnetic Hills last week while on a trip to Ladakh with my dad. On our second day in Leh, we rented a bike specifically to visit this spot since so many people had recommended it. Unfortunately, the actual destination turned out to be extremely underwhelming. It’s basically just a spot marked in the middle of a busy highway where you’re expected to stop your vehicle and “see the magic” — which, as it turns out, is just an optical illusion. No one told us it only works with four-wheelers, so being on a bike, we didn’t experience anything at all. The highway was bustling with fast-moving vehicles, yet ironically, no one was actually around at the Magnetic Hill spot. There’s an ATV, Viking ride, and zip-lining area set up on one side, but all of it was shut when we visited. So, after a long ride to get there, we ended up seeing… pretty much nothing. That said, I’m still giving this place 3 stars purely because the drive was stunning. The roads are beautifully maintained, and the landscape is absolutely gorgeous — that part made it worth it. We were stopped twice for an inner line permit check (which we had already arranged online), so just a heads-up if you’re planning to head that way. One local guy we met there told us that years ago, if you placed a compass on the marked spot, it wouldn’t point in any direction — but he said that doesn’t really happen anymore. I’m not sure how much of that is true, but it kind of sums up the vibe: cool in theory, not much in practice. Overall: a lovely drive, but unless you have loads of time and just want to be somewhere quiet, I wouldn’t recommend making Magnetic Hills a priority
Marium J — Google review
Magnetic hills are 30 mins away from Leh city and you can find it on the way to Indus-Zanskar ricer confluence point. The myth here is that bike or car automatically moves due to higher gravity but its only an optical illusion. However, you get amazing photos here if no one are around because its a straight road in the middle of the mountains. You can also do ATV ride nearby. It can also be a good pitstop as there are some eateries around.
Srikanth R — Google review
It's a neat and clean place and, the road is well built, the mountain background gives it a very romantic look. However the magnetic hill phenomena is a farce, the road is naturally going downhill and any stationery vehicle will start moving if brakes are not applied. Anyway because of magnetic hill propaganda it has become a nice tourist place.

“Mind‑bending illusion and scenic stop on the Leh highway!” Magnetic Hill is a must‑stop on the Srinagar–Leh route, about 26 km west of Leh. You park in neutral at the marked box—and the vehicle appears to roll uphill, seemingly defying gravity. 🚗✨ It’s not mystic magnetism but a clever optical illusion caused by the layout of the surrounding terrain . Why it’s worth it A fun experience that sparks curiosity—great for all ages and surprisingly smooth to share with family Beautiful backdrop: rugged Himalayan peaks and the Indus River nearby Free and accessible all summer, with clear signage and easy parking

Situated at an altitude of 12,000 feet on the Leh-Kargil road, this gurudwara was built in 1517 to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev's visit to the area. Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib in Leh is a very peaceful and beautiful place to visit. It is not just for Sikhs, but people from all religions come here, and everyone feels the same calm and positivity. The moment you enter, you get a sense of peace. The place is surrounded by mountains, and the view itself is so soothing. The gurudwara is very clean and well-maintained. The people who manage it are very kind and always welcoming. They make you feel at home. The best part is the langar (free food) they serve. It’s simple but very tasty, and eating there feels really nice because it’s made with love and served with respect. There is also a story behind the gurudwara about Guru Nanak Ji and the rock (pathar), which makes the place even more special. You can actually see the rock inside, and it feels very spiritual. One thing I really liked was how everyone is treated equally here. You sit together, eat together, and pray together. The atmosphere is very positive, and it gives you a break from the busy or tiring travel schedules of Leh. If you are visiting Leh, this is a must-visit place. It’s not just about religion; it’s about peace, kindness, and humanity. I felt really calm and happy after spending time here, and I would definitely suggest others to visit too. For me, it was a very heart-touching experience.

There was no ticket or waiting period required, which made the visit very convenient. It was not crowded, and the Langar was being served, adding to the spiritual experience. What made it even more special was seeing Army personnel humbly performing the service, which was both inspiring and heartwarming. A Peaceful Experience at Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji (Visited on 14th June 2025) During our journey to Leh from Kargil, my friends and I had the privilege of visiting Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji on 14th June 2025. Nestled at an elevation of 12,000 feet above sea level, this sacred place is a true embodiment of peace and spirituality. The serene and tranquil atmosphere of the gurdwara amidst the rugged mountains is an experience that touches the soul. The Gurdwara Pathar Sahib is not just a place of worship, but a significant historical site. It is believed that the divine power of Guru Nanak Ji played a crucial role in the establishment of this gurdwara. According to legend, the story goes that a massive boulder, which was thrown by a local demon to harm the Guru, miraculously turned into a soft rock upon Guru Nanak Ji’s blessings. The boulder is still preserved inside the gurdwara, and visitors can view it as a symbol of divine intervention and Guru Nanak’s unwavering spiritual strength. This story reflects the power of faith and the divine grace of Guru Nanak Ji, offering deep spiritual insight to all those who visit. Upon reaching the gurdwara, we were struck by the beautifully constructed structure against the backdrop of the majestic mountains. The peaceful sound of gurbani (holy hymns) playing in the background as we entered the premises added a sense of serenity and calm. The crisp air at such a high altitude only enhanced the sense of tranquility, as though the very essence of peace was emanating from the surroundings. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Matt from Chicago and Marie from Germany, who were touring India on their motorcycles. They were such jolly and warm-hearted individuals, and we immediately connected with them. It was wonderful to share stories, laugh, and bond with these two travel enthusiasts who had come from opposite corners of the world but found themselves united in this sacred place. Their positive energy and genuine kindness added to the overall warmth of the experience. The location of Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji, situated in the Leh region of Jammu and Kashmir, makes it an ideal stop for anyone traveling between Kargil and Leh. The scenic drive, along with the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, adds to the overall beauty of the experience. The humble and simple food offered at the langar (community kitchen) was wholesome and nourishing, further enhancing the feeling of unity and brotherhood among all visitors. It was a moment of togetherness, where we shared food with people from different parts of the world, all bound together by the spirituality of Guru Nanak Ji. Visiting Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji was more than just a spiritual experience—it was a reminder of the timeless lessons of love, compassion, and faith taught by Guru Nanak Ji. If you are on a trip to Leh or Kargil, this gurdwara is a must-visit destination. It offers not only spiritual solace but also a chance to witness a place where history, faith, and natural beauty come together in perfect harmony. Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji is a serene and spiritually enriching place. Whether you’re a devotee or a traveler, the experience of visiting this divine place, surrounded by the majestic mountains and steeped in the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji, is something that will stay with you long after you leave. Highly recommended for anyone traveling through the region!

Visiting the Hunder Sand Dunes was an unforgettable experience! The landscape is absolutely surreal — golden sand surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Watching the double-humped Bactrian camels walking across the dunes at sunset felt like a scene from another world. The place is peaceful, and the cold desert wind adds to its charm. It’s a must-visit spot in Nubra Valley, especially in the evening when the light gets magical.

Hunder Sand Dunes, located in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, offer a unique and surreal experience amidst the stark Himalayan landscape. Unlike any other desert in India, these cold desert dunes lie at an altitude of around 10,000 feet, surrounded by towering mountains and the Shyok River. The contrast of white sand against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks creates a magical and dreamlike setting. One of the main attractions at Hunder is the rare double-humped Bactrian camels, once used on the ancient Silk Route. A short camel ride across the dunes is a popular activity and gives visitors a glimpse into the region’s trade history. As the sun sets, the golden hues over the dunes and mountains create a stunning visual spectacle. The area is peaceful, with a few campsites and homestays offering comfortable stays. Bonfire nights under starry skies add to the charm of the experience. However, weather can be unpredictable, with temperatures dropping significantly at night. Hunder Sand Dunes are a must-visit for anyone exploring Ladakh, offering a perfect blend of nature, history, and adventure. It’s a place where the desert meets the mountains—unlike anything you’ll see elsewhere in the world.

This is a must visit place when you are in Nubra valley in Ladakh. Mesmerizing sand dunes by the colourful mountains is a sight to behold. There are many activities here to engage you. The most popular one is the double hump bactarian camel ride. You can see double humped bactarian camels here in India. Watching a sunrise or sunset here I am sure would be amazing. Please keep the place clean when you visit 🙏

The Hunder Sand Dunes were an unexpected surprise in the middle of the cold desert of Nubra Valley. The landscape is absolutely surreal—golden sand dunes surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The highlight for me was the ride on the Bactrian (double-humped) camels, something you won’t find in many places in India. Sunset here is magical, the entire area glows in warm tones. It’s a peaceful and serene spot to just walk around, click some amazing photos, and soak in the contrast of desert and mountains. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ladakh, don’t miss this unique experience.

Very scenic road from leh to nubra… people who are travelling to nubra valley using google maps.. please ensure that location of nubra valley in google maps is very far from hunder… nubra valley is basically a valley and you need to find stays in diskit or hunder or any other small villages. I’ve seen many people going to nubra valley just by searching in google maps. Hunder has many more options for stay than diskit.

Nubra Valley, located in Ladakh, is a picturesque and secluded valley known for its lush greenery amidst desert-like landscapes. Situated almost 3000m lower than Leh, it is nestled between the Karakoram Range and nourished by two rivers. The valley boasts an abundance of Sea buckthorns, Alfalfa, pink and yellow roses during summers, and wild lavenders in autumn.
Nubra Valley isn’t just a destination — it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, serene monasteries, sand dunes, and surreal landscapes, it’s one of India’s most underrated travel gems. The journey begins by flying to Leh, Ladakh (with direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, or Srinagar). From Leh, Nubra is around 120 km away and accessible via Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world at 18,380 ft. The drive itself is an unforgettable adventure, offering jaw-dropping views and adrenaline-pumping routes. Key highlights include the Diskit Monastery with its towering Maitreya Buddha statue, the cold desert and camel rides at Hunder Sand Dunes, the peaceful and culturally rich village of Turtuk near the Indo-Pak border, the healing Panamik Hot Springs, and the sacred, hidden Yarab Tso Lake near Sumur. The best time to visit Nubra Valley is from May to September when the weather is clear and roads are fully accessible. During winter, heavy snow often closes the passes, making travel risky. Accommodation options range from charming homestays to luxury eco-camps spread across Diskit, Hunder, and Sumur. Local food is simple, soulful, and delicious — don’t miss the thukpa, momos, skyu, and traditional butter tea. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming. Whether you’re a biker, photographer, solo traveler, or peace-seeker, Nubra Valley touches the soul with its raw beauty and serenity. It’s not just a place you visit — it’s a place that transforms you. A must-visit if you’re exploring Ladakh and want to go beyond the ordinary.

The Nubra Valley is an amazing sand dunes desert at high altitude, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. It’s known as a high-altitude desert and is located just a few kilometers from Khardung La Pass. When you visit Nubra Valley, you must try the camel safari. The two-humped camels found there are rare and can only be seen here in Nubra Valley, Ladakh, India. And for the camel ride they usually charge around ₹500 per person I'm not sure about the current price. If you want to experience the starlit sky, you can stay at one of the camps in Nubra Valley. Talking about the route from Khardung La to Nubra Valley is absolutely beautiful. The road is straight in most parts, and along the way, you’ll come across small water crossings, stunning mountains, widely spread desert landscapes, and much more. We really enjoyed the drive the scenic roads, the weather, and the whole experience. When you're visiting Leh Ladhak you must visit Nubra Valley if possible then from bike. However, make sure to reach your destination before sunset, as there’s little to no street lighting, which can make traveling difficult after dark.

Good Place to spend a lazy afternoon. Slightly over crowded. On the bed of Sayok river a river created small dessert formed on 1929. Bactrian camel rides, archery etc events. Can be done there.

Nubra Valley: A Hidden Gem of Ladakh Nubra Valley, nestled in the northernmost part of Ladakh, is often called the “Valley of Flowers of Ladakh.” Surrounded by the majestic Karakoram and Ladakh ranges, it’s where barren mountains meet lush green oases, creating a surreal contrast that’s truly breathtaking. Situated at around 10,000 feet above sea level, the valley is accessed via the famous Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Nubra is home to the Shyok and Nubra rivers, whose waters nourish the valley, making it unexpectedly fertile. Key highlights include: • Diskit Monastery: The largest and oldest monastery in Nubra, known for its giant Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. • Hunder Sand Dunes: A cold desert where you can ride the rare Bactrian (double-humped) camels, once used in ancient Silk Route trade. • Turtuk: A beautiful village with Balti culture, offering a peek into life near the Indo-Pak border. Nubra’s charm lies in its serene beauty, mix of cultures, and the feeling of being in a world untouched by time.
