Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, is surrounded by charming towns and offers a variety of activities such as boat rides, swimming, and leisurely walks. Whether you choose to spend your holiday on the lake's banks or amidst the stunning Dolomites Mountains, Stelvio National Park, or verdant valleys nearby, Lake Garda promises splendid nature and warm hospitality. The area and the lake is very pretty! We were staying in the city named Garda but we visited the northern and southern area of the lake, as well. The mountains around the lake are beautiful! Most of the towns, too, I recommend visiting some of the towns, not just the beaches and the mountains because they are lovely.

This was my favorite place that we visited. We rented a car and took a ride all around the Lake. The views are breathtaking! Highly recommended!

If you ever visit Italy, Lake Garda is your go to place. The beaches, the mountains, the view is so nuturing. You feel refreshed whenever you visit this place. Lake Garda is one of the best places in Italy.

Lake Garda is simply breathtaking. It perfectly combines stunning alpine scenery in the north with the softer, sun-drenched beauty of the south. The water is incredibly clear, and the towns surrounding it, like Riva del Garda, Sirmione, and Malcesine, are charming and full of history. Whether you're looking for water sports, hiking, or just relaxing by the shore, Garda offers something for everyone. Don't miss the chance to take a scenic ferry ride to fully appreciate its scale and grandeur! Highly recommended!

Amazingly beautiful location, we visited at the end of season (mid October) so not everything was open. Would definitely visit again, people very friendly, scenery was beautiful 😍
Elaine B — Google review
My favourite of All the lakes . Sirmione especially was magical . Pass by the Roman palace hotel Villa Cortina , share a small intimate boat ride with live saxaphone at the Goldenur and visit the museum On the ocean side of the lake . The gelataria offers the biggest fattest ice cream cones ive seen in my 40 years of travel . There is also an outdoor ruined fortress near the museum . Take time to stroll the pretty neighbor hood of lucky homes when you near the museum- they all face the lake and are to be admired . We drove to Malcesine , one of the few towns with any amenities but it was so overwhelming with all the German tourists and little space to sit down anywhere . A mob scene . We didn’t see Beyond the right side of the lake and will see the other side next time. But for me Sirmione and its castle was an outstanding pleasure .

Movieland Studios

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Movieland Studios is a family-friendly amusement park located in Lazise, Verona. It's part of the CanevaWorld Resort and features movie-themed rides, attractions, and entertainment. The park offers an immersive experience with American-style film sets where visitors can watch spectacular actions performed by professional stuntmen.
This is truly a fun and unique amusement park, featuring complex rides unlike those found in other parks, many inspired by classic movies. You can take pictures with numerous staff members dressed as famous characters. We visited in April mid-week and experienced no queues at all. The park was clean, well-maintained, and we had a fantastic time. In addition to the rides, there are several entertaining shows that can be enjoyed even without understanding Italian.
Hila — Google review
I am extremely surprised by this park. For me it is unique. There are many details and entertainment. It is suitable for children over 100 cm. In total, there are 24 attractions in the park, only 3 of which are for over 140 cm. The shows they organize throughout the day are impressive and will leave you breathless. The US ARMY show was incredible. We visited the park on a hot day. Kudos to everyone who made the waiting areas for the rides shaded. There are cooling systems installed in various places. There are many restaurants and cafes in the park where you can eat. They also sell donuts, ice cream and fruit. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to visit Caneva Aquapark. If you are staying in Peschiera del Garda, there is a free bus to the park that you can catch from the station.

First visit but it was really good. Their staff is kind and helpful. There many food point with good variety and fair prices. We really liked the rides and military show was superb and worth watching. Sky parade at the end was beautiful and entertaining. We would love to visit again. 😊👍

We visited Movieland Studios on a Sunday and found it to be a great value for money hidden gem! The park may be smaller than some of the mega theme parks, but that’s part of the charm — it gives you a more relaxed, fun-filled experience without the huge crowds. Here are a few of the unique rides/attractions that really stood out: • The truck-stunt “Studio Tour Truck Ride” (also known as Magma 2.1) takes you through real stunt sets at high speed. • The “Kitt Superjet” speed-boat ride on the lake-set, part of their Waterworld themed area — something you don’t see at many parks. Other highlights: the queue times were very reasonable, the atmosphere was lively yet not overwhelming, and for families with kids (or with mixed ages) this park offers a nice balance of thrill + fun + show-elements. In short: if you’re looking for a less-touristy alternative and want something different in the theme-park world, I’d highly recommend giving Movieland Studios a go! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yan Z — Google review
Definitely my favorite amusement park in all Italy! I saw it growing over the years and even though it already reached quite a lot of popularity long time ago, the owners are still constantly investing in new attractions, experiences and thematic areas. Basically, it’s like having a piece of Universal Studios near Garda lake. A true gem in Italy. This park has it all, from Thrill attractions to family friendly rides, even reaching Scare houses and live stunt shows! They literally have stuntmen who will take you for a boat ride or get you a lift on a military truck. Additionally, Movieland often organizes seasonal and special events like American Beer Festival, Halloween, Christmas… with no extra costs on the ticket! Keep an eye out for them as they’re incredibly worth it. A final recommendation, don’t miss the daily US army stunt show performance. I don’t wanna ruin you the experience saying more, but trust me, these guys are fire! 🔥
Andrea P — Google review
Visited during a weekday which was not very busy so we had time to visit many attractions and rides. Shows are professionally performed liked the KITT speedboat ride and the Rambo show. Disaster and Magma are also great rides. The price for a day is very worth it.

Caveat to my 5 star rating; It's for families (4 stars for everyone else) I did not have high hopes for this place seeing as it was so close to Gardaland i was thinking it would be a few false walled streets, a few Italian takes on American food (alla Wild Wild West, blah!) and a couple of rides for tiny kids and the rest that we wouldn't be able to go on. I was so wrong, the place is massive, the food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced (we ate at Daytona RACEturant and were served by robot waiters. I will say that I found it refreshing that there were places to sit everywhere, where people need to wait for others on rides, just random tables and chairs under shade and at every entrance and exit - I loved this even if I didn't take advantage as much as I would have liked (too busy!). Y'all people need to sit when they have been waiting in line and walking all day. We have a one child of 100cms and one of 120cms and apart from like 2/3 out of the 24 attractions (about 5/6 out of 24 for the little one) - we could at least in part enjoy them all. I will say that I'm not sure if 100cms is really right for some of the more action rides (magma 2) but my kids loved being whipped from left to right, just hold them tight and try not to shake the baby. Some of the rides were a little worn and old fashioned but there was a nice mix of more modern 5D experiences and classic rollercoasters/rides but the thing they excelled in was the shows. I was not expecting the shows to be any good but I was proven wrong in the first minute and they just got more spectacular as the day went on (don't miss the USA army show, they throw a plane - THEY THROW A PLANE!). There were stunt people, pyrotechnics and speedboats for that one, live singers and dancers for others and they were all very good. the spectacles were spectacular, some as good as anything I've seen in America in the big parks. As I said before, I think this place is great for families as a lot of the rides and cinema experiences are kid friendly and that worked for us. I've never been to a place where even our little one can do everything with us and we didn't need to try to manage our day around separate activities for her and her brother so this was a rare pleasure. For just older people on their own, it's still good but be prepared. We will definitely be going back, I loved it.
Laura T — Google review
We had such a great time with the whole family. The attractions were fun and well-organized, and the staff were friendly. Just a heads-up for anyone visiting in June—the sun can be quite strong, so make sure to bring sunscreen and stay hydrated. Definitely worth the visit!

Parco Giardino Sigurtà

Ecological park
Nature & Parks
Parco Giardino Sigurtà is a stunning natural masterpiece that captivates visitors with its serene beauty. Nestled near the historic center of Valeggio sul Mincio, this expansive park spans over 60 hectares and is recognized as one of the most beautiful gardens in Italy and Europe. It features lush green lawns, vibrant flower gardens, and ancient trees that create an enchanting atmosphere.
We visited the park in April, right when the tulips were in bloom. The grounds are large, impeccably kept, and almost surreal. There are several distinct areas—including a farm, a hedge maze, and even a small castle—so you can easily spend a few hours wandering around. Bike rentals are available if you’d rather ride than walk. One tip: we found that tickets purchased through general travel sites were actually cheaper than on the park’s official website.

Parco Giardino Sigurtà is a breathtaking botanical paradise nestled near Lake Garda in Valeggio sul Mincio. A Garden Wonderland Spanning over 60 hectares, this meticulously maintained park offers a vibrant display of nature's beauty, making it one of Italy’s most stunning garden destinations. With highlights like the famous Avenue of Roses, stretching over a kilometer with 30,000 blooming roses, and the enchanting Tulipanomania, a springtime spectacle featuring over a million tulips in bloom. The Labyrinth, scenic water gardens, ancient trees, and serene lily-covered ponds add to the park’s magical charm. Whether you explore by foot, bicycle, or golf cart, Sigurtà invites calm and wonder at every turn. It’s perfect for families, photographers, or anyone seeking peace in a lush, floral setting. A visit here feels like stepping into a living painting — peaceful, colorful, picturesque, and unforgettable.
Fred S — Google review
A beautiful botanical park not far from the southern part of Lake Garda. We visited in early June 2025. The park is lush with greenery, butterflies, and birds. It’s highly recommended to take the small train tour that runs through the park. The ride lasts about 35 minutes and circles the entire park, giving you a sense of its size and helping you decide which areas you'd like to explore on foot. Some of the highlights include a Japanese garden, a plant maze, an herb and butterfly garden, an educational farm, and more. We spent about three wonderful hours there — you could easily spend even more. Be sure to bring a bottle of water, as it can get quite hot during the day, even in June. Convenient parking is available about 250 meters north of the park entrance, in the supermarket parking lot.
David F — Google review
Beautiful park and great family outing We went on a family trip to Parco Giardino Sigurtà and had a lovely day. We enjoyed a picnic in the gardens and drove around in a small golf cart, which the kids absolutely loved. The park is stunning and very well maintained – perfect for a relaxing day in nature. It is a bit on the expensive side though; we paid around 720 DKK for one golf cart for 2.5 hours. Highly recommended!
Rasmus M — Google review
Amazing botanical garden, an absolute must see if you are in the area. Good paths to walk on, however, since the park is so big, there's also an option to rent a bike or golfkart. We rented a gokfkart, which is very convenient with small children.
Hilbert T — Google review
Huge gardens with ponds, maze, castels, and other scenic beauties... Can spend days over there. Electric bikes and golf carts are available to rent.
David N — Google review
The park itself is beautiful, but €46 for 2 adults and 2 kids is way too much considering the experience. Many attractions were closed, the park felt empty, and there wasn't much to do. It's a nice place to walk around, but with so little open, it should cost no more than €5 per person.
Marcin S — Google review

Te Palace

Museums
Te Palace, also known as Palazzo Te, is a captivating example of Italian Mannerism. Constructed between 1524 and 1534 for Federico II Gonzaga, this palace was designed to be a luxurious retreat and entertainment venue. Giulio Romano, a pupil of Raphael, was entrusted with the project and created an architectural masterpiece filled with imaginative and extravagant decorations. The palace features whimsical interiors adorned with erotic frescoes and houses a museum showcasing art and history displays.
This palace by Giulio Romano is rightly world famous. It stands out as an original masterpiece in architecture and painting too. A must see in beautiful Mantova. Don’t miss the view arriving from north of Mantova and see renaissance town just lying d as young of 3 lakes. Just stunning
Gerhard B — Google review
Lots of neat artwork, but what you get to see for the €15 entry pales in comparison the the Ducal Palace complex including the San Giorgio castle (same entry fee) and museums. It was neat to check out, but if you only have time or funds for one, this is not the better choice considering offerings options and price. But it sure is worth stroll thru if you are here and interested. Different style of artwork than a lot we saw around there. Don't forget the grotto before you leave!
Richard — Google review
This is the palace built by the royal family of Mantua, as a palace of leisure, now a museum. It is richly decorated with frescoes, including those by Giulio Romano. My favorite room was The Hall of the Giants alhough others were also quite beautiful. There is a good audioguide in English and other languages.
Dmitry — Google review
Palazzo Te is a stunning example of Italian Mannerist architecture and a must-see for art and history lovers. Built in the 16th century by Giulio Romano for Federico II Gonzaga, it’s both elegant and eccentric. The highlight is the Sala dei Giganti, where dramatic frescoes engulf visitors in a collapsing world of myth. The palace’s playful illusions and masterful fresco work make it feel more like a theatrical experience than a museum. While it’s not massive, the artistry is unforgettable. A unique gem in Mantua that blends grandeur with creative flair.
Giulia B — Google review
A gorgeous piece of history that is still standing today. Seeing Palazzo Te transports you back in time, and feels as though you’re in a dream. We visited the wonderful November 2023 exhibition, and the place was in pristine condition. The infamous Sala dei Giganti e Sala dei Cavalli are not to be missed! Staff are extremely kind, and like all other museums in Italy, they offer discounts for students, elderly people and children.
Teodora F — Google review
Great garden. The palace is not very big but has interesting rooms to see. Most of them were too provocative for mine taste of art but all of them were made with grace and detailed. The sun and the moon was my favourite . It was very shocking for me that every place in Montova has different working hours in every day of the week. So if you are planning to visit definitely take the working hours map from the info point.

Very impressive palace with water and a garden. Our tour guide Simone was a lovely and hilarious addition to the experience. The palace's rooms offer a very diverse selection of decorations, some of the frescoes make you wonder what kind of orgies they were celebrating. Sights & Landmarks
Basilica di Sant'Andrea is an impressive Renaissance church known for its vast vaulted interior and a reliquary that is believed to contain Christ's blood. The basilica was constructed by Andrea Mantegna, a renowned court painter, and Leon Battista Alberti, a prominent Renaissance architect. The church showcases the new Renaissance humanist style and stands as a triumphant display of their work.
Cool, ornate church. Certainly worth a stop to check it out. Looks like during the season there is annoption for crypt tours and to the walkway up in the main dome. We saw the sign for them, but it was behind bars and the tours were clearly not being offered at this time. Looks like it would be an interesting option. Even without, it is certainly worth admiring this chiesa.

Basilica di Sant'Andrea in Mantua is a stunning church with an impressive façade and a beautifully decorated interior. It’s especially known for housing a relic said to contain the blood of Christ. The architecture is grand yet inviting and stepping inside feels like walking into a piece of Renaissance history. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town!
Zongle — Google review
Soul soothing and fulfilling. A feast for the mind and eyes just being in here. I personally prefer visiting churches compared to the Museums or Art galleries - it is usually free of charge, a lot less people and I get to relish their beautiful and unprecedented work of art and architecture. Treasure all around and above - It is best done sitting on one of the long pews and simply look up. There are a staggering collection of beauty and religious significance here. "Do not judge a book by its cover" it is a place that is unassuming on the outside but absolutely phenomenal inside and dominates over the Piazza Mantegna. Here preserves the greatest relic of Christianity: the Sacred Vessels containing the blood of Christ.
Angelina C — Google review
Free entry, but don't let that fool you. If you want the church to be lightened up for better vision you need to pay. Beautiful, details in painting and sculpture but open up your spiritual eyes and look at all the demonic signs and symbols of the freemasons.
Chantell B — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking place! If there's something in Mantova you shouldn't miss, it's this gorgeous colorful basilica. Especially the paintings are extraordinary! The entry is free, just make sure not to visit during the long lunch break.
Kristýna V — Google review
We were lucky to find a guide who told us the story of this magnificent church and its relics. It gave us the goosebumps. The trip in the crypt was awesome and a first for us, so we were really impressed. Clearly you need faith to believe all the stories, but they are nevertheless beautiful. I also loved the paintings inside and all the decorations, but especially the gothic part of this otherwise Renaissance monument. Go inside!

Ducale Palace, a magnificent Renaissance fortress and the former residence of the Gonzaga family, is an absolute highlight when exploring Mantua. This stunning palace boasts an impressive collection of frescoes by renowned artists like Mantegna and Pisanello, alongside exquisite tapestries attributed to Raphael. As you wander through its numerous rooms filled with treasures, you'll be captivated by painted ceilings that seem to tell stories from another era. The palace also features enchanting secret gardens that add to its charm.
Amazing place and the ticket price (15€) is really decent compared to other more famous palaces and given the amount of space, art and history you see. We were simply astonished. You can easily spend 4-5h and if it's raining outside, you have no reason to hurry up. We loved it, it's a must if you're in Mantova.

This was perhaps the best Palazzo I ever visited. Of course, Mantegna's work (camera degli sposi) was fab, but the building, setting, views as a whole were remarkable. I can understand why 400 years of Gonzagas lived here.
Laurie P — Google review
Palazzo Ducale is a breathtaking testament to Renaissance opulence—a vast labyrinthine complex of over 500 rooms, evolved from the 13th to the 17th century by luminaries like Giulio Romano, Antonio Maria Viani, and Giuseppe Piermarini . The crown jewel is undoubtedly the Camera degli Sposi, Andrea Mantegna’s illusionistic masterpiece that transports you into the heart of the Gonzaga dynasty . You’ll also discover the dazzling Hall of Mirrors, rich with mythological frescoes and regal reflections , along with sumptuous tapestries and Rubens’s “Adoration of the Holy Trinity” .

Four hours of magnificance! This palace is now one of my favourites. Starting with the bridal room and Mantegna's masterpiece - leading through corridors, rooms, passages, balustrades and gardens with some of the most stunning works ever made. As for the gardens and collection rooms - Having visited the Met's Cloisters, brought back memories - Ducale's Palace must have been an important benchmark and inspiration. A worthwhile visit. Bring time and a pair of comfy shoes or sandels. I walked the full stretches of Venice's palazzos, but Ducale is where I needed to rest my feet after the visit.

Didn’t expect much, but ended up really enjoying this muzeum. The castle itsef is amazing, very nice and well preserved frescoes. A lot of different items on display, everything from sea shells, crocodiles, greek and roman sculptures, to weapons. Nice place for kids :)

Very nice and extensive palace, so big that you can get lost ( or out of energy). A must if you travel in Mantova.

Dizzying array of intricately decorated rooms and artistic artifacts. You’ll never be able to absorb it all.

I would say that it is the main place you have to visit in northern Italy. The Palace is huge. Mind that you will need at least to 4-5 hours if you want to see most of it. It has a day off so either check in advance or take working hours from the info point near it.

Monte Baldo, located in the Italian Alps, is a must-visit destination offering panoramic views and a range of activities. The mountain features hiking trails and a cable car ride to the summit, providing stunning vistas of Lake Garda and the surrounding area. Additionally, visitors can indulge in regional specialties such as cheeses like Spressa DOP delle Giudicarie and Vezzena, along with unique salami and cold pork meats based on ancient recipes.
Monte Baldo is full of trails and paths for trekking and Nordic walking: you can find the ideal route whether you are more experienced walkers or beginners. Thanks to the cable car, you can choose a one-way route and get back when you're tired, sitting comfortably in the cabin and enjoying the view.

A bit too windy on top and way colder than at the lake but the views were amazing! We could see the lake very well, and the mountains around us. You should definitely go to the top if you’re at Lake Garda! It’s a good spot for paragliding, if you’re interested in that.
Hajnalka K — Google review
Great views of mountains and Lake Garda. Cable cars are good. BUT, online booking didn't work so had to queue in blazing sun for 25 minutes and then join the main queue for a further hour and a half. I wouldn't bother going again.
Steve B — Google review
Hiking with astonishing views on Garda Lake is amazing. Rout to Monte Baldo is not very hard but still demanding. Down is hot, up much colder. Not many tourists, no crowd. Only beautiful surroundings, nature and sun. 5 hours walk worth to make!
Małgorzata K — Google review
it is said - buy a ticket online - avoid the queue ! - but that is not true! - don’t bother! you enter the building and there is a queue for 2 hours! and everyone stands together - you can’t avoid queue at all! and it is super hot :( I do not recommend it in high season unless you have the whole day free and like waiting in a huge crowd:(
Olinga S — Google review
Great view over Lake Garda, you could take the cable car from Malcesine, or drive by car and then walk 30-45 min.

I loved the whole experience, went on a Monday and there weren’t lots of people so more fun and no queues incase you wanna go for biking, cable car or paragliding. Beautiful panoramic. I loved the cows 😆🥰

The Castelvecchio Museum in Verona is a restored palace that houses a diverse collection of sculptures, statues, paintings, ancient weapons, and more. Originally built as a residence and fortress in the 14th century, it now offers visitors an immersive experience into medieval life in Verona. The museum features 16 rooms filled with sacred art, Renaissance bronze statues, archaeological finds, coins, weapons, and armor.
Incredible place to walk around on a sunny day. Interesting art from a huge period of time inside, and nice to walk the walls and see some of the architecture and how to had changed over time. Some very interesting weapons inside too. We bought a Verona card from the counter and had it validated for us to access cultural places around Verona for the next 24hrs. Well worth it if you're going to 3+ places.
Willam F — Google review
The Castelvecchio Museum is an absolute must-see in Verona. Housed in a medieval fortress built in the 14th century, the museum is filled with incredible 15th and 16th century paintings, sculptures, and artifacts. Walking through the halls feels like stepping back in time, with masterpieces from artists such as Pisanello and Veronese on display. The architecture of the castle itself is just as impressive as the collection, especially the views from the bridge over the Adige River. We loved our visit, but be prepared, the castle is massive and requires a lot of walking. It’s a place where history, art, and atmosphere come together beautifully, and truly one of the highlights of Verona.
Scott G — Google review
Be sure to visit if you are in Verona! 💯 percent recommended! The castle was simply amazing. The castle is perfectly lit at night, so it makes for very beautiful photos. There are a lot of interesting exhibits. The ticket is free with the Verona guest card. The castle is still being renovated, but it is safe to walk everywhere. Thank you for the great impressions.
Sandra D — Google review
Great museum with great art and statues. Goes throughout the whole castle, even giving a great view from the rafters. Don't recommend being scared of heights as one in our group. Very worth the cheap entry fee for the amount of stuff that's at display.
Tobias S — Google review
The museum is housed in a 14th century castle that was built by Cangrande II della Scala who was the ruling lord of Verona. You wonder through galleries with endless religious paintings and sculptures. At the same time you can see the castle inside and out. From the ramparts you have a nice view over the river and the red-brick bridge that crosses the Adige river.
Seimen B — Google review
The castle is powerful and compact in its size with very little decoration — one square compound built in red bricks, one of the most prominent examples of Gothic architecture of the age, with imposing M-shaped merlons running along the castle and bridge walls. It has seven towers, a superelevated keep (maschio) with four main buildings inside. The castle is surrounded by a ditch, now dry, which was once filled with waters from the nearby Adige. Castelvecchio is now home to the Castelvecchio Museum and the local officer's club which can be accessed through the left door on Corso Cavour 🇮🇹 verona
Thushan G — Google review
Interesting stuff in the museum - lots of variety, and plenty to see. The directions inside were not especially clear - the temporary exhibition was not super easy to find. Note that you don’t have to pay for the museum to go on the bridge! Most of the staff very friendly, aside from just one woman in the shop. Horrendous toilet - just a hole in the ground!
Fiona B — Google review
Medieval fortress with moat. Probably the best value attraction in Verona, beautifully restored. We spent 3hrs here, exploring the countless corridors and halls. You can also access the battlements and part of the tower. Which has beautiful views of the river and city. There are numerous pieces of veronian artwork including paintings and sculptures. With also a large collection of medieval items of warfare and everyday items. All very interesting with a rich historical significance. A must on your visit, whether your here for a week or just a few days. Enjoy!

Great Piazza. Market stalls most days with plenty to choose from. Restaurants along one side so great if thirsty or hungry. Historic buildings all around. Well worth the visit
David S — Google review
Piazza delle Erbe is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric squares in all of Italy. Surrounded by elegant palaces, medieval towers, and richly decorated façades, it feels like stepping back in time. The square has been the beating heart of Verona since the Roman era, once serving as the city’s forum, and today it still pulses with life from morning to night. The architecture is breathtaking — from the frescoed façades of the Mazzanti Houses to the Baroque Palazzo Maffei with its statues of classical gods. Every corner seems to tell a story of centuries gone by, blending Roman, medieval, and Renaissance influences seamlessly. That said, it is incredibly crowded, especially during peak hours. Tour groups, market stalls, and cafés all compete for space, so be prepared for a lively (and sometimes overwhelming) atmosphere. Still, even with the crowds, the energy of the square only adds to its charm. If you’re visiting Verona, Piazza delle Erbe is absolutely unmissable. Come early in the morning or later in the evening if you want a quieter experience, but at any time of day, it’s a stunning place to soak in history, architecture, and authentic Italian life.

I truly enjoyed strolling through Piazza delle Erbe, Verona’s oldest square. It’s a vibrant blend of history and daily life—once a Roman forum, now surrounded by medieval buildings, frescoed facades, and lively cafés. The square hosts bustling markets and iconic monuments like the Colonna di San Marco and Fontana di Madonna Verona. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was a real pleasure to take in all the beautiful historic architecture.
Dr. H — Google review
Piazza delle Erbe is a truly beautiful square. It's lined with a row of stunning buildings, with the most magnificent of all—Palazzo Maffei—standing proudly at one end. In the center, you'll find the impressive Madonna Fountain of Verona and a bustling bazaar full of life. The edges of the square are dotted with charming-looking restaurants, shops and cafés. We didn’t eat there ourselves, though, as the square was quite crowded with fellow tourists. That said, we did find a few quieter corners along the edges, perfect for sitting back and watching people pass by—it was quite entertaining!
Heikki K — Google review
A beautiful square that feels big but still quite cozy. In my opinion, it’s definitely more interesting than the large one by the Arena. From here you’ve got direct access to Juliet’s house, plus plenty of nice restaurants, narrow streets, and cafés all around. The atmosphere is fantastic – you could wander here all day.

Casa di Giulietta, also known as Juliets House, is a 13th-century gothic-style building in Verona that has become a popular tourist attraction. Although it was once owned by the Dal Cappello family and not the Capulets of Shakespeare's story, it still exudes an enchanting charm that captivates visitors.
What a cool experience!! Definitely get tickets and go inside the house. Such amazing interiors! Definitely will be using the ceilings and frescos for quilting inspiration.
Lara K — Google review
Despite what many believe, Juliet was not a real historical person. This house once belonged to the Cappello family — a name that inspired Shakespeare’s “Capulet.” The famous balcony was added centuries later to recreate the feeling of the legendary love story of Romeo and Juliet. Still, the place has an undeniable charm. Visitors come from all over the world to leave love notes, touch Juliet’s statue for luck, and feel the spirit of romance that Verona is famous for. A must-see, even if the story is a beautiful myth. ❤️
Hasan H — Google review
If you are a fan of the immortal story of two lovers, then you must visit Juliet's house. The house is constantly besieged by tourists, so think carefully about when you want to visit (preferably in the morning). I personally like the collection of artworks in the house, and the original wall paintings are also impressive. I recommend that everyone who visits the house also visit Romeo's home. It is completely overlooked, and only rarely do tourists stop at the memorial plaque on the site where his home once stood.
Anuša G — Google review
Still, this place has sadly lost some of its romance. The inner courtyard is flooded with crowds – noise, long lines to touch Juliet’s statue, and cameras flashing from every direction. There’s little real romance left; it feels more like a tourist ritual than a place of love. The museum is interesting to visit, with Juliet’s statue and a few authentic details, but you’ll feel the true spirit of Verona much more while wandering through its charming streets than standing amidst the crowds.
Saulė T — Google review
Casa di Giulietta in Verona is a romantic landmark linked to Shakespeare’s Juliet. The 13th-century house features a charming balcony said to inspire the famous scene from _Romeo and Juliet_. Visitors leave love notes on its walls, making it a symbol of timeless passion and literary enchantment. By the way it is very crowded.
Dr. H — Google review
Paying the ticket to see the house is much better than the experience outside. Even in low season was completely crowded to the point that the statue looked even nervous herself. There is the same statue inside the house with no crowd, and from the house you can take a picture from the balcony. Staff is kind of rude
K. M — Google review
This was a tourist trap. The balcony is way small and only 2 persons can fit. We did not visit the inside of the house because of the reviews on Google saying that it was nothing special. The yard was ok and we got to take pictures of the statue of Juliete and the wall of letters. There was a shop nearby that could costumise everything you wanted to by that was nice. The store inside the house has only overpriced magnets and pens for tourists.
Matt P — Google review
Wow every romantic person women ,man or couple need to visit this place and even if you not into romantic things definitely take your partner there is famous balcony spirit is still there for 2 people who love eachother but can't be toghtether is nice fairy tale and you need to be part of it, try get there in the morning when is less busy and dont forget Mark pen to write down something on wall

Road of 52 Tunnels

Historical landmark
Outdoor Activities
Military route constructed in 1917 around & through an imposing rock face, with steep inclines.
This is a hike on muntains full of history and panoramic views. Absolutely recommend if you have willpower and physical condition for it. Not the easiest hike as first part of hike, about 7+ km up to rifugio Papa is all the way uphill. Some galleries are dark, so you need lamp. We did it with mobile phone flashlight. Also some galleries are steep with some slippery rocky steps, so be careful. We started to climb with 30 degrees heat and took 1 liter of water per person along. We drank it all. Temperature on the top of the mountain was much lower, under 20 degrees. The route back to start was downhill and rather easy 7 km walk by gravel road.
Tarmo T — Google review
I hiked it at the end of June and it was easy and safe to walk throughout. It's dark inside the tunnels, so a handlamp is necessary. From the path, you can admire some truly wonderful landacapes. I highly recommed it.
Michele F — Google review
A great hike with interesting history and amazing views. I went in early September at around 8am and it was rather busy but never too bad, easy to overtake others as the path was very wide. The path was rocky and unsteady, so good shoes are recommended. It was cool in the tunnels but some portions of the path were fully exposed so sun protection is important too. Pretty much all uphill but worth it. Instead of taking the same path down I went down Strada degli Scarubbi on the other side of the mountain which was slightly longer but much easier on the knees as it was a dirt/gravel trail and also offered great views (including little walks through the forest which was nice). Overall highly recommend. Not particularly difficult, just to try go early if it's hot and go at your own pace.plenty of places to sit at the Refugio or on the mountainside.
Tiff G — Google review
Spectacular trail through impressive war constructions. The longest gallery winds like a cork screwer through the solid rock for more than a hundred meter to overcome a steep gradient. Impressive engineering feature and magnificent landscape. Bring a torch !

This is a great treck with incredible views. There's paid parking available and as most strongly suggest, you will need either a flashlight or head torch as many of the tunnels are too dark to see in.

Soave Castle is a well-preserved medieval fortress with a rich history dating back to the 10th century. The castle offers tours and boasts stunning vineyard views from its turreted ramparts and tower. Soave itself is an ancient village with Roman origins, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture.
Great place to visit while in the area. The castel is owned by a private person and they've done an amazing job restoring the castle. The lady who was there was fantastic, she shared her knowledge about the place. Highly recommend to visit the castle.

Large castle, nicely furnished and decorated in a few choice rooms. Really cool to be able climb to the top of the tower and have that view out over Soave and an expansive view over the valley. Bring your camera! Without a tour and hour or so is probably sufficient to wander the grounds unless you just want to hang out. Certainly worth getting inside the castle.

Montagnana's medieval town walls are completely intact and absolutely stupendous. It took me 50 minutes to complete a gorgeous stroll around the four sides. The walls are almost two kilometres long, they include 24 towers, as well as four main city gates. One slight gripe is that while there is a path for walkers on the eastern/Porta Padova side, on the other three there aren't, sometimes you have to walk along an unpavemented main road.

Guests can enjoy relaxing in the sauna and waking up to a complimentary breakfast served in the casual restaurant. The hotel staff are friendly and make an effort to communicate effectively in English. The highlight of this family-friendly hotel is undoubtedly the playful playground and whimsical gnomes which add to its unique charm.
Hotel Da Barba is an absolute gem! We had an amazing time and loved everything about it. It's the perfect place for families with kids, thanks to the playground and bouncy features that kept our daughter entertained for hours. But the real highlight was the gnomes village in the forest - it was truly fantastic and a unique experience for the whole family. The rooms at Hotel Da Barba were comfortable and well-appointed. We had a cozy and relaxing stay, and everything was kept clean and tidy. The accommodation perfectly suited our needs, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of fun and exploration. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. We highly recommend this hotel for a delightful family vacation!

A trip to a magical world of gnomes... We absolutely loved it! A very special place, so much to entertain the children. The outside play park was great for my 2 young girls ,as well as the indoor playroom, that had an amazing view over the woodland. The bedrooms were wonderful, i reccommend booking the superior room, very spacious and great bathroom. Even my mother's bedroom, although small, had a large balcony, with a fantastic view. Fridge and kettle in the rooms were very welcome. Owners of the hotel and all staff very friendly and helpful. And the magical gnome walk? Well you will just have to go and discover it for yourselves. I highly reccommend it. My children are already asking to go back. We left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed and a bit sad to leave this fairytale behind.

We had a wonderful time at #VillaggioDegliGnomi! First and foremost, I need to mention the trail. The most comfortable and beautifully manicured trail I've had privilege to set foot upon! I had no concerns letting my kids run full speed downhill, because I knew their footing was sure and the fall would be into soft golf course type grass! As well I would gladly pay to run this loop 10 times! The playground was wonderful, and though there were plenty of other guests, we had no problem finding a table where we ate the picnic we had brought(you can also get food at the bar). There were slides and swings a volleyball ball court and basketball hoop, as well as 2 giant inflatable bouncy houses. There is also a 5 year old friendly race track that costs a 1 Euro token, but it is way more generous than the rides at the mall! The gnome village was wonderful! It is small, but as you would expect... after all, they are gnomes. Not to spoil the fun, but the gnome houses are interactive for the kids, and your kid can talk with them, see them, and maybe even get a sweet straight from the gnomes house should they say the magic word! The loop has a nice fitness circuit with various exercise equipment at stops through out the trail. Last but not least, the park is integrating a Pokemon go type app to benefit the park experience. Very cool from what I've seen, but it wasn't 100% integrated quite yet.

Such a lovely place, good for a holiday. Lots of activities for kids too. The Gnome Village is not to be missed, but I visited in winter so no luck. Daniela & Alvise are excellent hosts, smiling & helpful. The rooms are clean & food is good too. Would love to visit again.

Monuments & Statues
The Asiago Sacrario war memorial stands atop a hill and features cannons, panoramic views, a crypt, chapel, and exhibits highlighting historic events. This monument serves as an impressive tribute to veterans of World War I. The museum showcases various memorabilia from the unit and era, making it a must-see for history enthusiasts. The sheer size of this memorial is overwhelming; its significance can be felt through its remarkable architecture and displays.
We are currently world schooling to learn about WWI. This place had many artifacts on display, it explained movement, terrain and logistics and at the end you can honor those that fell when the battle came to them. It was interesting that so many siblings fought in this battle, many to save their city. The views are outstanding. This memorial/monument was well thought out. A look at the town shows the influence on architecture from the war. This place was awesome.

I tried to visit this military shrine dedicated to the soldiers who died in this area during the First World War. Unfortunately, the shrine is currently closed for renovation, and it seems it has been closed for quite some time. From the outside, however, the shrine looks truly impressive.

Sacrario Militare di Asiago – Ossario del Leiten 🇮🇹 For those who appreciate history and quiet reflection, the Sacrario del Leiten in Asiago is a place of deep emotional impact. Located on Leiten Hill at 1,058 meters above sea level, it overlooks the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities with striking majesty. Designed by architect Orfeo Rossato between 1932 and 1936, it was inaugurated in 1938 as a monumental ossuary to hold the remains of over 54,000 Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers who died in World War I. The structure consists of two main levels: a square crypt (80 meters per side) with wide corridors leading to an octagonal chapel, and above it, a towering triumphal arch with four fronts, standing 47 meters tall. A grand staircase flanked by symmetrical ramps leads visitors to the top, where engraved arrows point toward the surrounding mountains and former battle sites—a stone memorial that powerfully links landscape, memory, and history. Inside, silence is broken only by the engraved names of fallen soldiers—both identified and unknown—including twelve awarded the Gold Medal of Military Valor. Their memory is preserved with solemn dignity. Recently restored, the site is once again open to the public (Tuesday to Sunday, 9 AM–12 PM and 2 PM–5 PM), now featuring an educational exhibit with artifacts and informative panels about the Great War. A powerful and moving place that combines monumental architecture, solemn landscapes, and a deeply reflective atmosphere. Ideal for those seeking a moment of remembrance, beauty, and historical significance.

The Sacrario Militare di Asiago sits heavy against the soft landscape of the Altopiano, its stark presence unmistakable from a distance. Walking the long, tree-lined approach felt almost ceremonial. an intentional stretch of silence before entering the crypt. Inside, the light is low, the marble cool, and the atmosphere reverent. Thousands of names line the walls in endless corridors, a sobering reminder of the brutal scale of World War I on this front. It’s not a place of grand gestures or theatrical design, but of weight and stillness. The weathering on the ceiling only adds to the gravity, a quiet surrender to time. Standing in that vast hall of sacrifice, it’s impossible not to reflect. This isn’t just a monument, it’s a statement, and one that lingers with you long after you’ve left the hill.

Sights & Landmarks
Piazza dei Signori is a stunning square that showcases the architectural brilliance of Andrea Palladio, featuring elegant palaces and grand columns adorned with statues. The imposing Renaissance basilica at its heart serves as a remarkable public space rather than just a church, housing traditional shops and cafes beneath its porticoes. Visitors can also admire the Teatro Olimpico, an unfinished masterpiece by Palladio, along with other exquisite buildings lining Contra Porti.
Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone exploring this beautiful city. The square is a perfect blend of historical charm and vibrant activity, making it a delightful spot for both locals and tourists. The architectural beauty of the square is striking, with the Basilica Palladiana and the Torre Bissara providing a stunning backdrop. The Loggia del Capitanio and the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà on the opposite side add to the grandeur of the square. The two columns, one with the Lion of Saint Mark and the other with Christ the Redeemer, add a touch of historical significance and elegance. The atmosphere in Piazza dei Signori is lively and inviting. It's a great place to take a leisurely stroll, enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafes, or simply sit and people-watch. The square often hosts seasonal markets and events, adding to its dynamic character. Overall, Piazza dei Signori is a quintessential part of Vicenza's charm. Its blend of history, architecture, and vibrant energy makes it a perfect spot for anyone looking to experience the true essence of the city.

A beautiful city with plenty of Renaissance architecture. A good location, with quick access to Lake Garda and Venice. The Vicenza Ticket is a huge plus. Available in silver, gold, and platinum, it's also available as a family combination ticket. This allows you to visit up to 11 attractions. The city is very clean, and the sights are easily accessible on foot.

What a beautiful square, with the Basilica Palladiana as the most arresting feature of it. Never crowded, unless it's Market day on a Tuesday. Lovely cafes and shops all around it too. Don't miss it when you're in Vicenza.
Sheena T — Google review
Yep! Definitely worth visiting, as you can see there’s also a beautiful market on Sundays. This one was mostly flower and other vegetables. Everything lovely and enjoyable. The nearby churches and other monuments give this square a feeling that you will recognize from Venice. After all, the lion’s book is open.

A nice piazza with many restaurants and coffee shops. I like to visit on Thursday in particular as they have the Thursday market which has multiple little shops that sell clothes, and fresh produce. Some veggies also sell ready made meals.

Plaza has a festive vibe this time of year. Christmas lights everywhere making the night time light up with a cheerful atmosphere! There's also a Christmas market too. However , it's not as big as the one in Verona. They currently have the classics like mulled wine and pretzels. Definitely check this out if you're looking for something to do in the evening and don't want to drive too far. There are several parking lots, but you may need to wait as they tend to fill quickly for the dinner rush.

Piazza dei signori is main high street in Vicenza. It’s a biggest open square in the town that is next to Basilica Palladio di Vicenza. This square is free for everyone. A lot of open cafes and shops along this square. A very old Roman architecture that has history in its walls and floor. A must visit area if you are in Vicenza. A Bollywood movie 🎥 has been shoot in this square as well. It has two pillars replicated of Venice biggest square.

Palladian Basilica

The Palladian Basilica, a 16th-century masterpiece designed by the renowned architect Palladio, is a cultural hub in Vicenza. The building underwent renovations in 2012 and is surrounded by grand aristocratic palaces like Loggia del Capitaniato and Palazzo Chiericati. Visitors can explore the nearby Casa Pigafetta and the iconic Rotonda villa, both designed by Palladio.
An architectural marvel that embodies the brilliance of Andrea Palladio; with its striking façade and harmonious proportions, the basilica stands as a testament to Renaissance ingenuity. Inside, visitors are welcomed by elegant arches and massive interior that enhances the building's grandeur. Serving as a vibrant cultural center, it hosts various events and exhibitions that enrich the local community. A visit here is a must for anyone seeking to admire the beauty of classical architecture and experience the heart of Vicenza's rich history.

The hall is just immense, especially the height and considering when it was built. A must-see when in the area. The loggia allows beautiful views over the surrounding area.
Gerald D — Google review
A must see building by the famous Andrea Palladio. There was an interesting exhibition about an architecture prize when we visited. We didn’t find the way to the highest level but the views to the centre were nice already from the first floor.
Ville H — Google review
Impressive Renaissance building by architect Andrea Palladio who did not see its completion in 1614. The double loggia (arched gallery) in white marble wraps around an older Gothic structure from the mid 15th century. It functioned as a court of law and has a marvellous slender and tall clock tower
Seimen B — Google review
Nice, plain architecture with a beautiful terrace looking over the main square of the city. It's a shame that you have to get an additional ticket for different exhibitions to see the inside of the building.
Ahmet K — Google review
We bought the Vincenza pass ( 4 places ) and used it for the Basilica as one of our stop, will worth it, some lovely roof top views and an exhibition too
Brian M — Google review
The Basilica Palladiana is Vicenza’s architectural showstopper—and heck, its best selfie spot. It’s history in haute couture: elegant, bold, and endlessly influential. Marvel at its facades, sip on the rooftop, and let the limestone loggias whisper stories of civic pride and Renaissance flair into your soul. Renaissance done right, darling.
Mira E — Google review
Palladian Basilica is a building that tries very hard to impress. Columns, arches, everything is decorous and noble, just like “an architectural classic for a textbook”. But, to be honest, don’t expect revelations inside: it’s more like a huge stone hint that they once knew how to build beautifully and on a grand scale here. Palladian Basilica is a classic of the genre: architectural grandeur plus a modern bonus in the form of a ticket office at the entrance. Yes, yes, Andrea Palladio probably dreamed that his creation would be perceived centuries later as “another expense item on vacation”. It’s beautiful inside, no doubt, but you feel like you’re not in a temple of architecture, but in a “pay-and-see” museum. As a result, you get a symbiosis: the spirit of the Renaissance and a light aroma of commerce. Well, art also wants to eat.

Olympic Theater

Concerts & Shows
The Olympic Theater, also known as Teatro Olimpico, is a historic landmark in Vicenza, Europe's first covered theater built in the 16th century. Commissioned by the Olympic Academy, it was designed to host performances and intellectual debates. The theater consists of three rooms with impressive frescoes dating back to 1647 and original oil lamps from 1585 on display.
A stunning architectural marvel and the oldest surviving Renaissance theatre in the world. Designed by Andrea Palladio, its intricate facade and impressive perspective scenery create a breathtaking atmosphere that transports visitors back in time. The interior is equally enchanting, with beautifully crafted details that showcase the artistry of the era. However, it's important to note that access to the stage and background is not included with the ticket purchase, which may disappoint some visitors eager to explore beyond the audience experience. Nonetheless, the theatre's historical significance and aesthetic appeal make it a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture and the performing arts.
E P — Google review
Very impressive theater. The tour through the museum lasts about 15-30 minutes depending on how much you want to read. If there’s a concert or something similar while you’re staying in Vicenza, I recommend booking a ticket to experience the theater in action. During summer it’s very hot (there‘s no AC).
Celina B — Google review
We saw a Bach concert that suited this Andrea Palladio masterpiece theatre very well. As it’s a protected building only few changes have been made and we didn’t see any bar, but didn’t miss it either as there was no intermission. The seats are quite uncomfortable but acceptable in a heritage building like this one. The play with spatial illusions makes the scene very dramatic and special.
Ville H — Google review
It may be over 400 years old but the Teatro Olimpico remains stunning and immensely practical. The stage set including the streets laid out in perfect perspective must have added to the theatrical experience and captivated and enthralled audiences. You can't go on the stage so you have to make do with a scale model made from Lego to appreciate the technique. Pure genius from the master classical architect Palladio. We bought the Vicenza Silver Card for free admission to four of the top tourist sites. This is one of the best.
Herm D — Google review
Exceptional. The fact that the theatre exists largely as-is from the 16th century and the visual effect of the theater backdrop simulating loooong streets leave one stare in awe. If in the area, a must-see!
Gerald D — Google review
All of Vicenza is beautiful and one of our favourite places in Italy. But this theatre... Is... AMAZING! Yes it's not very big, but if you get your tickets as part of a multi attraction pass it is very cheap. The theatre itself is incredible and has the original set pieces from its creation which make an optical illusion. There is a free audio guide which gives a great insight. No photo can do it justice. The seats are original wood from the 1500's... So be careful of catching your pants on a nail or splinter. Also. You will NEED to use the small stairs, on either end or the centre to move up and down the seating. The staff get very upset about you stomping down the seating given its age.
Tyler N — Google review
Well worth a visit, they gave us a scan code for a 20 minute audio which was good. Certainly should visit if you have time in Vicenza.

Nestled conveniently near the iconic bridge, the Museo del Ponte degli Alpini is a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into the rich history of war memorabilia. This small yet captivating museum, located in the basement of a tavern bar, showcases an array of historical documents and artifacts related to the Alpini soldiers. With an affordable admission fee and audio tours available in multiple languages, it’s an enriching experience for visitors of all ages.
This place had special significance for my wife as her Nonno served in WW1 with the Alpini. Very fascinating exhibition even if you have no link to it. Entry is through the tavern & downstairs. Well worth a visit.

You can get English or Italian audio guide to the museum which locates downstairs of a bar. The layout of the display cabinets were a bit confusing but the audios were very detailed. Small museum but very well kept and with some truly goosebump-inducing objects, the exhibit that struck me the most is the helmet with the bullet hole and still with traces of blood and brain matter, perhaps it is macabre but it reminds us that millions of people died. Thank you for what you do, places like this shout out loud "DON'T FORGET" especially to the new generations (Original) Piccolo museo gestito dagli alpini all'interno del bar sul famoso ponte di Bassano. Mura di Cittadella e Camminamento di Ronda

Mura di Cittadella e Camminamento di Ronda is the main attraction in Cittadella, a beautiful small city surrounded by well-maintained medieval walls steeped in history. The ramparts are open from 9 am to 5 pm during winter and until 7 pm from April to September, with the last entry one hour before closing. It takes about 30-45 minutes to walk around the walls, offering stunning views of the city.
i was casually scrolling through maps when I stumbled upon this tiny, walled village. since it happened to be on our route, we decided to stop for half a day. and honestly i have no idea how i have never heard of this place. it’s stunning. for just 3€ (student discount), you can walk along the medieval walls, which offer breathtaking views. from up there, you get a perfect panorama of the entire village, a massive church dominating the skyline, and mountains stretching into the distance like a postcard that somehow came to life. if you ever get the chance stop here.

Very well-maintained walls, clean and safe. Panoramic and cool to walk during evening in the spring. €5 (per adult) well spent.

This is such a hidden gem - beautiful place and seriously impressive to be able to make the full tour on medieval city walls. Little tricky with a fear of heights, but manageable. The barriers were robust all round, and we felt sufficiently secure to bring our little boy there. Prams can be left at the entrance. The inside of the city itself is also nice to stroll around.

My wife and I were brought here by a family friend while visiting her here in Italy. We walked along the top of the wall that surrounds the city and marveled at the sights. The view is incredible. I wouldn't recommend the tour along the wall for anyone who's afraid of heights. The city itself is charming and had a street market setup when we were there. I was told that the market is only setup on Mondays.

Cittadella itself is a nice little place. The normal day to day Italian life is visible here, in september there are hardly toerist. On Wednesday morning there is a market, the city holds Manny (coffee)bars and restaurants. There are also a lot of clothing shops. Verry nice for a 4-5 hour visit and lunch. The wall costs 5 euro to visit and wil give you stunning views over the city and surroundings. In a ralex pace the walk around took us 1 hour+. Note: not suitable for people with fear of heights 🫣.

Family-friendly wildlife park, home to around 70 species of animal, with picnic area & playground.
Kids are enjoying so much. Beautiful environment, lovely place to visit there. Staff also very friendly and helpful. But price is i think little bit high like adult 10 above 17 euro and kids under 12 euro
Shafiul A — Google review
Cash only as they have no connection for a card machine. Nice collection of animals with absolutely stunning black panthers. However they refuse to let younreturn to your car for say a picnic so you either have to carry it round the whole place with you or wait until you leave. It wouldn't be difficult to say stamp your hand or even give you a ticket. This just seems unnecessary inconvenience, especially when there's no cafe or anything more than a few vending machines on site.

Lots under construction at the beginning of the standard itinerary - would be good to have more information on their renovations explaining what's coming. I hope it's bigger enclosures for the big cats... We managed to see them all up super close which was great but probably because enclosures small. In general not a lot of info on the boards of enclosures, some missing, many not in English and would get nice to know where animal came from, if born in captivity, where etc. A bit more behind the scenes insights! Some free little talks would be a nice add in. Nice that there is no restaurant or shops, makes it nicely non commercial and focused on the visit. Nice play park for kids at the end. Would be nice to receive a detailed map upon entering Thank you

The zoo is nice, some windows are so dirty you cannot see through. 😅 unfortunately, when we were there some parts were under construction. Overall, it was a nice experience. The down side is they DO NOT HAVE a restaurant or coffeshop/bar inside their zoo, only some vendingmachines. You must pack you own lunch! (Do not be us, we had to leave earlier because we were starving).

The best: not crowded zoo. Animals have a really big space and they seem well care. No bar inside but there are some bending machines for coffee and snacks.

Prato della Valle in Padua is a grand public square with a central island encircled by an elliptical canal called the Alicorn, adorned with over 70 statues of notable figures. Commissioned in the 18th century, it serves as a venue for various events, fairs, concerts, and markets. This bustling square is frequented by students, artists seeking inspiration, and fitness enthusiasts who utilize the surrounding 'asphalt ribbon' for running and skating.
Prato della Valle is a beautiful and lively piazza, it’s a huge open space. The elliptical canal with its ring of statues is very unique — walking around feels like being in an open-air museum. On market days the square is buzzing with stalls, it’s a also beautiful place to stroll, sit under the trees, or just take in the atmosphere. I loved the night atmosphere, stunning lights and beautiful views. It’s also a great spot to start or end a walk through Padua, since it connects easily to the Basilica of St. Anthony and the historic center.

This is a lovely piazza to visit with many sculptures surrounding the water and grass area, however there isn't much else to do unless you visit on a market day. We caught the stall holders clearing away on the Saturday evening, so there was a lot of plastic mess around the piazza but it was all clean by the Sunday. You can walk the length of Via Roma towards the Prato delta Valle and also visit the Botanic Gardens and Basilica. If approaching from Via Roma, there is a supermarket on the opposite side of the piazza.

So many statues, and the four bridges! The main square is huge. The basilica is well worth seeing, as is the church to the N (1 block) of the park. FYI, there are some cute 'tourist trap' places along that street for souvenirs!!

Beautiful and epic! Can enjoy sitting or exploring. Great place to gather with friends or family, or to walk/exercise. Perfect time to visit is day or night.

Prato della Valle is a huge square where in summer you can feel like a cutlet on a Teflon frying pan. The place is certainly impressive in size and number of statues, but the sun is so generous here that the only shadow is your own. Yes, it is beautiful, spacious, but it is better to come either at dawn or after sunset, otherwise the walk turns into an express version of an open-air sauna.
Vadim S — Google review
One of the largest squares in Italy and home to over 70 statues from important names in the history of the city. However, I do feel that the place is a bit overrated for tourism. The square (and the water) is a bit dirty, a lot of concrete, and there are no signs or plaques with explanations about the statues.
Guilherme C — Google review
Great central circle with lots of historical significance which doubles as a park. It made for a great starting location to navigate the city.
Mark W — Google review
It was our first stop for the day which might have been a mistake as a tourist. It was nice seeing the local vendors but they were selling produce and since we were traveling, we could not take advantage of their products. I believe it would be different at night when the street vendors are serving food. It would be an excellent place for live music as well. As for the area itself. There is a lot of green space surrounded by water with bridges to cross the water. There are many statues to look at and it was very peaceful when we were there. If I were to return, I would definitely do the evening visit.

Scrovegni Chapel

Chapel
Sights & Landmarks
The Scrovegni Chapel, also known as the Arena Chapel, is a must-see attraction in Padua. Commissioned by Enrico Scrovegni in the early 14th century, this chapel is adorned with vibrant frescoes painted by Giotto di Bondone between 1303 and 1305. The chapel's rich history and stunning artwork make it an essential stop for art enthusiasts. Additionally, visitors can explore the nearby gardens and museum for a comprehensive experience.
I was lucky enough to simply drop by on a Sunday evening and get tickets right away (don't do that, try to book in advance online). This was my favourite experience in Padova, easily!!! Just check the pictures, the paintings, the history of this place...this is magical!
Guilherme C — Google review
Ever since I read Gombrich’s The Story of Art years ago, I had dreamed of visiting this place. Undoubtedly the highlight of our trip to Italy! Impeccably preserved, with lighting at the base that showcases the frescoes in the chapel in the best possible way. Giotto, in the 1300s, is a landmark figure pinned on the grand tapestry of art history, undeniably a medieval genius and at the same time the starting point of the Renaissance. He was among the first to bring architectural frames, outdoor scenery, shadowing, expressions, and natural gestures into his figures. Giotto’s innovations in spatial depth and emotional realism paved the way for Masaccio, and eventually for Da Vinci, Michelangelo and the High Renaissance. What makes the experience even more fascinating is its story: the chapel was commissioned by Enrico Scrovegni as an act of penance for his family’s sins of usury. The only real pity is that each visit is limited to just 15 minutes. Honestly, it feels far too short, so we couldn’t help but want to buy another ticket just to experience it all over again.

What an amazing place and fascinating history. Regardless of whether you are religious or not. The incredible creativity of a man in the 1300's has to be witnessed. The human emotions that have been depicted throughout the chapel are amazing. Highly recommend a visit to this well organised historic site.

This is a rare chance to see a monumental work by Giotto, spinning several dozen biblical scenes. You have to buy tickets in advance, but the experience is definitely worth your time and hassle.
Boris S — Google review
The chapel itself was astonishing and breathtaking. There was a short video in air-conditioned room before entering, which provided general info. - Unfortunately, there was not enough time to patiently savour the frescoes, we were rushed out, so I was very dissappointed:( *I know there are many people coming to visit, but I would strongly consider prolonging the visiting time.
Monika N — Google review
A must see when you visit the beautiful city of Padova. Very important to arrive in time as stated by your on line reservation as the admission process for visiting the chapel is strictly adhered to.
Doron S — Google review
Absolute riot of fresco that are staggeringly numerous, detailed and beautiful. Entry strictly controlled and 15 minutes only, so try booking 2 consecutive slots to do this place justice.
David D — Google review
Thank God, they haven't covered the original paintings and original walls. Since this is not the active chapel, we can feel the real archeological smell. Visitors are allowed inside onkybfor 15 min. There is an automatic door system to ensure the interiors are protected from environmental damage to the original paintings. Surprised to know that it was a private chapel of a wealthy citizen lived in Padova. His name was. Enrico Scrovegni. Like Dante's hell , this Chapel has Giotto 's hell. Interesting to know that there is a pope (rebelled )in the hell. The paintings are worth watching.

The University of Padua Botanical Garden, also known as Orto Botanico di Padova, is the oldest academic garden in the world. Established in 1545 by Benedictine monks and later included in UNESCO's World Heritage List, it has played a crucial role in the development of various scientific disciplines such as botany, chemistry, ecology, and pharmaceuticals.
This is the world’s oldest botanical garden, and if you have the chance, don’t miss it! It’s less than 30 minutes from Venice, by train, so it makes for a perfect day trip, if you want a break from the crowds. It’s quiet, peaceful, and serene. Founded in 1545, it is home to over 3500 medicinal plants. This garden was started to study the medicinal properties of plants, and many medications throughout history were created using the data collected in this garden. Nature is so cool! The greenhouses that are in the pictures were built in the 1800’s, and the many old statues found throughout the garden add to the garden’s historic charm! Honestly, I enjoyed my time at this garden more than I enjoyed anything on the island of Venice. I highly recommend checking it out!

Absolutely worth the 10€ entry fee! The museum is really well put together, and the free in-browser audio guide is great. The gardens themselves showcase an incredible variety of plants, some iconic, some obscure. Admittedly, not every plant is easily identifiable in the sense that I went around for a while looking for bananas and vanilla, as they were supposed to be present, but never found them. But it doesn't feel like it really took away from the overall experience. Two hours or so well spent.
Jonas G — Google review
We had a pleasant visit to the garden and museum. While much of the vegetation looked dry, the plants and trees were well marked and and the gardens contained many large tree specimens with an interesting series of walkways. It wasn’t crowded on a Saturday morning. The museum was a pleasant surprise and had both Italian and English descriptions of the varied scientific exhibits which were fascinating. There was even a WC!

It's 10 euros to enter, which I thought was a bit much. I'm used to botanical gardens being free, but every attraction in the area has a fee. If you are looking for some green space near venice, this is your jam. Two stops away. It has a lovely garden. The greenhouse with a wide array of plants from all over the world is the highlight.
T S — Google review
When you visit Padova, you should visit their Botanical Garden. It is the oldest academic botanical garden that is still in its original location, truly historical. Make sure to allot at least half a day to be able to enjoy all parts of the garden.
Argie M — Google review
The botanical garden was a stunning place, and the audio tour made it even better. Do remember to bring ear buds or headphones as it’s the most important part to truly experience the history of the place. With centuries old trees and the history to go with it, it deserves an afternoon of your time (spent approx 2 hours, walking very slowly).
Matteo G — Google review
Definitely worth a visit, especially on a rainy day in Padua! The indoor greenhouses are spectacular and feature fun informational videos, and plants from several ecosystems around the globe!

The Basilica of St. Anthony

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The Basilica of St. Anthony is a magnificent Catholic church with Byzantine-style domes and notable artworks, including relics of St. Anthony. Constructed in Gothic style shortly after the saint's death in 1232, it attracts pilgrims from around the world who come to pay homage to the revered friar. The interior is a labyrinth of chapels and corridors housing masterpieces such as Donatello's reliefs on the high altar and expressive sculptural narratives of St.
We took a day trip to Padova from Ferrara. We decided to take it easy just wander round the town looking at the architecture eating and drinking etc! The one place we did actually visit was the Basilica of St Anthony and it was stunning. It's hard to describe in words the majesty of the church. It is one of the most stunning churches I have visited. Was rather amused at them charging for the toilet! Definitely worth a visit.

No tickets required, but dress appropriately! If you have too much skin showing, they will provide covering to wear for 1 Euro. I was very impressed by that, so no one would be turned away! You can wear shorts and short sleeve shirts for comfort in the heat...just not too short. This magnificent place is a must-see!

The Basilica of St. Anthony is truly my place of strength. Every time I come here, I feel a powerful energy that surrounds and uplifts me. The atmosphere is so unique and deeply spiritual that it’s impossible to leave without feeling renewed and inspired. A must-visit for anyone who wants to experience something beyond the ordinary.
Tatiana — Google review
The exterior is a melange of architectural styles, fairly plain brickwork but with Byzantine minarets and domes reminiscent of the Hagia Sophia of Istanbul. Internally it is pure Gothic with wonderful sculptures and artwork. The scale is vast and the ceilings almost disappear into the distance, many covered by netting to catch falling debris. This is a site of pilgrimage for followers of Saint Anthony and there was a line to enter the chapels containing his relics. The lighting is very dim so the architecture is not shown to best advantage but nevertheless the effect is inspiring.
Herm D — Google review
It was a great blessing and goosebumping experience to have a dharhsan at St. Antony's basilica at Padova. One could feel the positive divine vibration the moment enters into the Basilica. Indeed, we spent more time in the Basilica in prayer and meditation. St. Antony of Padova is the patron saint for lost objects. St. Antony of Padova is widely celebrated saint in South India. We had a opportunity to pray at his cemetery, tonsee his unperished tounge and jaw. His incorruptible relic is housed in this basilica.
Dr R — Google review
Due to our ancestral devotion to St. Anthony, my wife and I made a point to visit Padua, and the cathedral here is truly mesmerizing. Having visited Lisbon as well, we were particularly struck by the abundance of St. Anthony’s relics housed in this beautiful church. You will find St Anthony's pillow stone, uncorrupted tongue of St Anthony, Jaw bone with teeth, vocal apparatus, skin from head, cassock, St Anthony's finger, hair. Plus relics of other saints and items from cross on which Jesus died
John C — Google review
One of the most magnificent basilicas you will ever see. Its fame rests not only on its architectural beauty but also on the spiritual aura that resides within the basilica. It houses the mortal remains of St Antony of Padua. It also has the relics of more than a dozen other saints including St Pope John Paul II. Catholics from all over the world flock to the Basilica throughout the year. One thing that catches our eyes is the altar that has all the relics.
Dr G — Google review
Amazing inside and outside. Went for a walk by night and it was very never with the moonlight. The interior is superb, lots of different Chappelle with amazing art and, of course the saint Anthony spaces for pilgrims. Please, respect the place, there's people praying

Villa di Maser is one of the Palladian villas and the last one to be inhabited by a Duke, the husband of the late Contessa Diamante. It is beautiful, the frescoes are incredible. They make their own prosecco. It is a must see if you are in the Veneto region of Italy

Book a guided tour which includes the Tempietto church, and wine tasting plus lunch at the Casa Diamante on the estate. That will make for a perfect morning.

Amazingly friendly staff - everyone highlighted one thing or another and seemed to enjoy having visitors! Very great architecture (of course), and impressive to see the inside, too - plus the fountain in the back!

Stunning Palladian villa, with wonderful frescoes. Sadly, no photographs are allowed inside the building.

The most magical place in Maser! Not to be limited to a single visit, to be able to notice a new detail in Veronese's frescoes every time. Nice little dogs (the same ones found in the frescoes) welcome visitors, and some cats appear as well (must check behind the sofa!).

We love the charming city of Treviso. It has cobblestone streets, narrow sidewalks and adorable cafe's. We had the best gelloto. You can get lost in the many little streets within the walls of the fortress. Many streets line the canals were you with see ducks a swans. Rent a bike or take a stroll around the fort.
