Jalori Pass, also known as Jalori Jot, is a stunning mountain pass located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. At an elevation of 10,800 feet, it offers breathtaking alpine views and is surrounded by picturesque scenery. Visitors can explore the area by staying in Shoja and driving down to Jalori Jot to embark on a hike to the popular Sareyol Lake near the Jalori Jot temple or towards an ancient fort.
Spectacular view from the top! The snow was fresh and clean, it felt so good to be here. The trek to the top (of the viewpoint) is not extremely difficult and quite attainable — even if you have aged folks in your group. You can seek help from the guides outside the main gate if you want any support material like walking sticks or gumboots/snow boots. These are available on rent.

I visited Jalori Pass during my solo trip in June 2024 and even without snow the place felt magical. The moment you start heading up from Jibhi the scenery begins to change. The road is around 12 km but it’s very steep and narrow and if a vehicle comes from the opposite direction there can be huge traffic especially around the curves. So if you’re driving yourself or even taking a cab just be prepared for that. You can get a shared cab from Jibhi to the starting point or if you have time you can wait for the local bus which comes every one or two hours. Once you reach the top you will find a small temple and a few stalls selling tea Maggi and snacks. I took a short break there before starting the 360 viewpoint trek. The trek itself is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your speed. It’s slightly steep in places but very doable and the trail goes through pine trees and greenery all around. The higher you go the more peaceful it gets. And the view from the 360 viewpoint is simply stunning. You can see the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar mountain ranges surrounding you in every direction. It feels like the sky opens up and the mountains just keep rolling one after the other. I sat there for a long time just soaking in the view breathing in the cold fresh air and enjoying the silence. It was one of the most calming moments of my trip. This is the kind of place that doesn’t need too many words or activities. Just reaching there sitting quietly and looking at the mountains is enough to make you feel peaceful. Highlights Breathtaking views from the 360 viewpoint Peaceful forest trail with pine trees and mountain air Small temple and local food stalls at Jalori Pass Surrounded by Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges Perfect for a short peaceful solo trek Tips The road from Jibhi is very narrow and steep so drive carefully and avoid rush hours Shared cabs are available or wait for a local bus if you are on a budget Wear comfortable shoes the trail is short but has some steep parts Carry a water bottle and light snack for the trek Early mornings or late afternoons have the best weather and fewer people

Bus drops off right at the temple and you can start trek straight away. 5km one way through the forest. On the other side is Raghupr fort another trek. The lake is small pond.Serolsar Lake is in Tirthan Valley of Himachal Pradesh, located 75 km away from Kullu. The lake is situated at an altitude of 10,170 ft. To access the lake, you've to trek for 5 km. The trek starts from Jalori Pass, the highest altitude point that connects Kullu valley and Shimla Valley. The lake is guarded by thick tall pine trees on all sides. Next to the lake is Budhi Nagin temple. Serolsar Lake is surrounded by a narrow track and a fence around it. The Serolsar Lake wears stunning colours during different times of the year. The lake looks white during winter, half snow-covered and half green during spring and summer, and lush green during monsoon and post-monsoon. This is something worth observing if you have the oppurtuinty to trek multiple times to this lake. Apart from the scenic beauty, the Serolsar lake has religious significance as well. Ilt is a pilgrimage place for the locals. Locals from the surrounding villages come here every saturday to do the parikrama. They mostly offer ghee and oil to the local diety. It is believed the goddess is submerged in the lake and protects the entire region. Serolsar Lake trek is a paradise for someone who loves forest trails. The entire trail is through the dense pine and deodar forests. You also encounter clearings after every hour of the trek which makes them nice resting spots for trekkers to rejoice. From the 360-degree Viewpoint, you get great views of Pir Panjal and the Great Himalayan range. Serolsar Lake trek is an easy trek. It can be done by both fit beginners and experienced trekkers. It's a series of gradual ascents and descents until you reach the lake. The only steep ascent you encounter on this trail is the one that takes you to the 360-degree Viewpoint.

Jalori Pass offers a delightful escape into nature, boasting a moderate 5 KM trek to a serene lake, enveloped by a dense, tranquil forest. The weather here is exceptionally pleasant, noticeably cooler than the Tirthan Valley, providing a refreshing contrast. It's an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful walk amidst stunning natural beauty, offering a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility.

Jalori pass ... The most beautiful trek I have witnessed Start from SoJa . Went during February end and it's the last snow of that season. The whole trek was covered with snow .. 2 feet deep. And it's just heavenly. - wear snow boots as u can get cold feet and take a good amount of food and water if you are starting this Trek. - at the top around 12 km away is the mountain 360 degree view and a beautiful temple is located. - there all the camps and food stalls are available but during heavy snow , all get covered and shut down. - from the temple there is a trek of 3 km to the fort - for having a fort view. - also 2 km away from this point going above is the place where 🎥 " yeh Jawani hai devani" movie shoot was held.. it's just snow covered trek and you can see all way the white 🤍🤍🤍 color.. - the trek is just freaking awesome and you will have wonderful picture points and views during the journey. ❄️❄️ Feel and Experience this beautiful 🤩🤩 snow covered place.

Jalori Pass - The most beautiful place I have ever seen. At entrance you will see the temple of Mahadev and Durga Maa. In snow ❄️, Jalori pass looks absolutely stunning, beautiful, awesome, I won’t have words to describe this place beauty, all the around if you will se their would be snow covered mountains 🏔️ with surrounding trees make this place looks more eye catching and beautiful. The people here around are so nice and friendly. I visited this place on march 21, 2025. At that time it was all around snow and make sure you take up warm clothes when you visit here, because in the evening the temperature plunges very down, and chilled air make you feel more colder and coldest so caps, mufflers, gloves along with very warm jackets make you feel warmer over here.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Himachal Pradesh, Sujanpur Tira Fort is a captivating destination that draws visitors year-round. This historical fort, built around 1750 for military purposes, offers stunning views of the surrounding area and is an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts and couples seeking a romantic backdrop for pre-wedding shoots. Although some structures are showing signs of wear due to age and natural disasters like earthquakes, efforts are underway to restore its walls and preserve this heritage site.
best location for photography, pre-wedding photoshoots.. the ruins of the fort are so scenic, exquisite and charming.. and to add, no rush at this place since it's one of the eluded spots.. not falling on any of the major travel routes in himachal.. must visit..

I visited there in the month of April, for the sujanpur fair, and also got the time to visit the fort. I got beautiful landscape and sunset points, we were there for 1.5 hours and explore the place by walking here and there. Fort is for military in around 1750, now the walls of fort are weak and also damaged by earthquake. Government is restoring the walls by placing support, overall place is good to spent time and have eye soothing nature. Must visit place if you are nearby and have a good time.

Historical place but badly maintained. Ruins remains and need urgent attention by the govt to restore the remains. One can have stunning view of Sujanpur.

The palace-fort, Sujanpur Tira is situated at a distance of 22kms from Hamirpur town and touches the Kangra border. The fort was built by Raja Abhay Chand of the Katoch dynasty of Kangra in 1758. For more than a century, Sujanpur Tira remained the royal residence for the Katoch dynasty. The fort in the early 19th century was also the residence of Raja Sansar Chand, who is reckoned to be the patron of Kangra School of miniature paintings. Sujanpura Tira houses five temples and a hall called Baradari, where the court was held in the realm of Sansar Chand. The entrance of the fort is an impressive one with signs of some excellent wall paintings over it. The main attraction of the fort is the Gauri Shankar Temple that is within the precincts of the palace. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shankar and Goddess Parvati and has a large number of wall paintings executed in the precision.

Sujanpur Tira fort may be in ruins, but its captivating charm is undeniable. Despite the crumbling walls and weathered structures, this historical site holds a captivating aura that transports you to a bygone era. The panoramic views from the fort are truly mesmerizing, offering a breathtaking glimpse of the surrounding landscapes. Exploring the remnants of this once-majestic fort evokes a sense of awe and wonder. The stunning natural beauty of the lake is complemented by its surroundings, which include lush greenery and floating islands of reed.
Visited Rawalsar Lake, and it was a truly peaceful and refreshing experience! The lake, surrounded by lush greenery, offers a calm and scenic atmosphere. The serene environment, with its mix of nature and spirituality, made for a perfect getaway. A must-visit for those seeking tranquility, natural beauty, and positive vibes!

Beautiful and very peaceful place to visit in this area. This Lake is very beautiful with fishes 🐠 and Ducks 🦆. It may become more beautiful if bushes at surroundings of the lake were removed.

Rewalsar Lake is calm, beautiful, and a great place to just sit, chill, and stare into the distance like you’re solving the mysteries of life. The view is lovely, the breeze is nice… but let’s be honest — there’s not a whole lot to “do” here. And before you get any bright ideas — don’t feed the fish. Unless you’re carrying ₹5000 just for the fine. The fish look hungry, but the rules are stricter than school exams. There are some snack stalls nearby and a few places to try Tibetan food, which is actually pretty good and worth a bite. Overall: Great place to relax, click some peaceful pics, and enjoy the lake view — just don’t expect too much action. Come here when your soul needs a break, not when you’re craving an itinerary.
Shishir K — Google review
Rewalsar Lake is a serene and spiritual spot surrounded by three beautiful monasteries, a Gurudwara, and a small temple. The calm atmosphere is perfect for reflection—though the temple’s loud music at times disturbs the otherwise peaceful setting.
Mukund G — Google review
A very peaceful and holistic place .The whole town is surrounded around the lake People live over there in peace and harmony, mostly Tibetan. Good place to stay to purify your soul and mind.
Paramjit S — Google review
It is located around 18-20 kms away from Ner Chowk. The road to reach there is narrow, and being widened at the very end. The whole town is located around the Lake. The lake is sacred amongst Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. There’s a monastery, a Shiva temple and a Gurudwara around the lake. The lake is beautiful and it has lot of fish inside it. The garden needs a bit of maintenance and cleaning. There’s a car parking inside the lake premises.

Lake Rewalsar, also known as Tso Pema, is a significant pilgrimage site in the Buddhist tradition. It was one of the highlights on our two-week road trip. The lake holds deep spiritual meaning, with unique stories and beliefs in both Buddhist and local traditions—each version equally fascinating.

Shikari Mata Mandir

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled at an impressive altitude of 3,359 meters in the Mandi district, Shikari Mata Mandir is a vibrant Hindu temple that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys. This enchanting site, often referred to as the 'Crown of Mandi,' is perched atop Shikari Shikhar and can be reached via a scenic 600-meter walk through lush Kharsu oak forests.
If you’re fit to hike 1200 stairs one way then you must visit this awesome spiritual place and pay homage to the very revered Shikari Mata. This is perhaps the only worship place on earth which has no roof at an elevation of more than 3350 meter. Miraculously when the entire hill is snow capped the deity idols have no snow on them and visible throughout. It’s around 18 km from Janjehli Valley and can be reached through the forest road half of which is tarred and another half is off road. Better go by local cabs to avoid vehicle breakdown and also to enjoy the breathtaking view on the way. A must visit place for all travel enthusiasts.

Spiritual bliss amidst breathtaking beauty! This temple is a hidden gem, nestled in the mountains with a stunning view that will leave you speechless. The trek to the temple involves climbing 1100 stairs, but trust me, it's WORTH IT! The scenic route winds through lush green grasslands, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains that will take your breath away. The mountains stretch as far as the eye can see, with rolling hills and verdant valleys below. As you climb higher, the air grows fresher, and the atmosphere becomes more serene. The temple itself is a peaceful oasis, perfect for introspection and connection with nature. The architecture is beautiful, and the ambiance is calm and soothing. You can feel the spiritual energy emanating from the temple, making it a truly uplifting experience. The views from the top are simply stunning, with the sun casting a golden glow over the mountains and valleys. It's a perfect spot for photography, meditation, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature. I would highly recommend this temple to anyone looking for a spiritual experience, a challenging trek, or simply a chance to connect with nature. Whether you're a nature lover, spiritual seeker, or adventure enthusiast, this temple is a must-visit destination!

Shikari Mata Temple is a peaceful and scenic place located at about 3,332 meters in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. It can be reached by road with mesmerising views of entire janjheli & shikari valley . From the parking area, you need to do a short uphill hike of about 10–15 minutes to reach the temple. The place is surrounded by green meadows, forests and amazing mountain views. It’s not just a spiritual spot but also great for nature lovers. A perfect mix of beauty, calmness and a bit of adventure. Highly recommend!

Shikari Mata Temple sits atop on peak -about 3,359 m above sea level. High altitude: steep climb, over 500–600 stone steps. It’s a roofless temple dedicated to the goddess of hunters, Shikari Devi. It is said to be built by the Pandavas during their exile, the temple’s mythology stretches back to the mahabharat. Local devotees said, Despite a roofless shrine, the temple always remains snow-free, even during heavy winter snowfall—while the surrounding peaks are blanketed.

Soul__ A — Google review
Located at an altitude of approximately 3,200 meters, Shikari Mata Temple is one of the holiest and most spiritually uplifting places in the Mandi district. Nestled amidst the majestic mountains, it’s not only a revered shrine but also the highest peak in Mandi. The temple holds ancient significance, dating back to the era of the Pandavas. I’ve had the blessing of visiting this sacred place multiple times, and each visit has been a deeply energizing experience. The environment is pure and powerful—filled with positivity, peace, and the divine presence of Shikari Mata Ji. You can truly feel the spiritual energy in the air. One of the most memorable visits was when we trekked to the temple from Devidarh village. It’s a beautiful and challenging 9–10 km trek through a dense, serene forest. It took us around four and a half hours to reach the top, and every step felt like a pilgrimage in itself—soothing the soul and connecting us with nature and divinity. In 2025, I had the fortune of visiting again with my family to seek blessings from Mata Ji. From 2018 to 2025, many things had changed, including the stairway leading to the temple, but the peace and divine energy remained as strong as ever. Jai Mata di🙏🏻🙏🏻

If someone plans to visit, please make sure to visit between the months of July and October. We visited in the month of April and were very sad to see fallen apple trees. Still the people show a full of apples garden and charge a lot of money which is not at all worth it. There are only 2 ways to visit this place. One is a horse ride and the other is a 4X4 vehicle drive. People here charge Rs.1500 for horse ride per head and Rs.2000 for vehicle drive. This package includes 6 adventure rides and 6 places to see. To be Frank, no one will be able to do all the 6 rides and visit all the 6 places. Additionally, once you enter inside, you will be forced to opt for an ATV ride for about 1.5 km which is again Rs.500. Spending money is not a deal but trust me the money that you're gonna spend here is not at all worth it. A kind note that your outfit will definitely become muddy by the time you come out. It's really beneficial to carry a mask with you since this place is full of mud.

Worth exploring locals are so humble and polite selling food and drinks on top of hill with a nominal pricing. Activities are horse riding, yak photo shoot, Gypsy or 4X4 car ride on top, and other adventure activities. Also must try telescopic views activity there.

Kufri: 1. Gypsy Ride: ₹6,000 for 4 people (3rd week of april 25) seems not reasonable, also the ₹50/person environmental charge wasn't reflected in the cleanliness. Areas for Improvement 1. Cleanliness: Despite the environmental/cleanliness charge, the area didn't seem clean. 2. Crowds: Rides were overcrowded, which might detract from the experience. Recommendations 1. Gypsy Off-Roading: Although pricey (₹1500/person), it's a unique experience worth considering. 2. Alternative Options: For smaller adventures, other options might be more suitable.

Located in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, the Bhakra Dam is a massive concrete gravity dam that spans the Satluj River. It was constructed from 1948 to 1963 and stands at a towering height of 207 meters, making it one of the world's highest concrete gravity dams. Covering an area of 168.35 square kilometers, it is India's third-largest reservoir.
When on my bike (a Honda cb350) to the Bhakra Dam from Dharamshala. It took me 3 hours to reach. The Dam felt under overwhelming. But the road is breathtaking and I enjoyed every second of it. Note there are check posts 500 meters before and after the dam where you have to show your ID. Photographer is prohibited within those 500 meters.

It is in Bhakra Village in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh (India) It is the highest gravity dam in Asia. The dam forms the Gobind Sagar reservoir. To visit the dam you need to get a pass and register your entry. We went there on Sunday and there was no crowd at all. We had seen the dam from outside because we didn't have visiting passes. You can also visit a few popular temples near the place.

A big and spectacular dam. Ysu can drive beside the dam and see it's beauty, If want to go on the top of the dam then you need to take permission from the local authorities to visit. Photography is not allowed at the Dam but from distant you can take beautiful pictures of the dam, Like I have done. A devine place Nainadevi is also around 20 km from there.
Nagesh S — Google review
The dam is spectacular. You need to take permits from the local authorities to visit. There is an office at the checkpoint for the same. Also, while the signboard are displayed on the route, it is somewhat tricky to find the correct route. It is better to confirm with the locals on major turns. Photography is not allowed at the Dam but there are a few locations before and after where beautiful pictures of the dam facade and the reservoir can be clicked. If you are also visiting Nainadevi (20 km / 30-35 minutes from there), it is better to start at the temple and view the dam on the way back as the time needed for the dam is not too much.

There are boating point in this area, but you have to drive for like 6 KM more to reach boating point. Don’t pay extra for boating. Private boats ask for like 600 to 800 per boat. Take government boats for like 30 ₹ per person. If you find this things helps you, please comment or like on this. Happy travelling…

Standing tall on The Ridge with its signature yellow walls and neo-Gothic architecture, this beautiful church offers a serene escape from the busy tourist crowd. As soon as you step in, there's a feeling of peace and stillness. The stained-glass windows casting colorful reflections, the old wooden pews, and the soft echo of silence make you want to sit, reflect, or simply admire the beauty around. Sights & Landmarks
Shree Hanuman Temple, Jakhu is a picturesque mountaintop Hindu temple in Himachal Pradesh, featuring a massive sculpture of Lord Hanuman and inhabited by many wild monkeys. The area also boasts other significant temples like Bhimakali Temple and Sankat Mochan Temple. Visitors can take different roads leading to various attractions such as Ramchandra Chowk and Rich Mount, offering stunning views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks.
The most famous and prominent Hanuman Temple in Shimla is the Jakhu Temple (also spelled Jakhoo Temple). It is a major landmark and a must-visit for tourists and devotees. Here is key information for other people: Jakhu Temple, Shimla The Jakhu Temple visit was, without a doubt, the absolute highlight of my Shimla trip. This place is so much more than just a temple; it’s an experience that combines thrilling transport, breathtaking views, deep spirituality, and a touch of wild adventure. Getting There: Take the Ropeway! I highly recommend taking the Jakhu Ropeway. The steep hike (about 45 minutes) is there for the adventurous, but for comfort and the sheer aerial view, the cable car wins. For a few hundred rupees, you get a short, smooth, and scenic ride that lifts you right over the pine trees. It's truly a cinematic ascent, where Shimla city slowly unfolds below you like a miniature town. It saves time and energy, which you'll need for soaking up the atmosphere at the top. The Colossal Hanuman Statue The moment you step off the ropeway, you are greeted by the magnificent, towering presence of the 108-foot Lord Hanuman statue. Its vibrant orange color stands out so beautifully against the blue sky and green hills. It's a marvel of engineering and a powerful symbol of faith. You can see this statue from The Ridge and The Mall Road, but standing right at its base, looking up, is awe-inspiring. It truly feels like the silent guardian of Shimla. The Temple and the View The ancient temple itself is nestled amongst thick deodar forests and has a wonderfully tranquil, spiritual atmosphere. The air is filled with the calming scent of incense and the sound of bells. It is believed that Lord Hanuman's footprint is preserved here, which adds a deep layer of mythology to the visit. From the temple complex, the panoramic views are unbeatable. You get a 360-degree vista of the surrounding snow-capped Himalayan ranges, the winding valleys, and Shimla's charming, colonial-style rooftops. We caught it around sunset, and the golden hour lighting up the mountains was simply unforgettable

Very beautiful temple of God Hanuman. Temple itself is very beautiful. I would recommend to visit it early morning to get less crowd and good pictures. This temple is on top of mountain. Be careful these wild monkeys may snatch your mobile or caps.

Points to be noted 1. Please be aware of cabs for visiting temple. 2. Rates can be negotiated 3. Path is very odd hence ropeway and cabs are the only way to visit. 4. Cabs for temple are far away from mall road. Hence it is suggested not to take senior citizens and people having knee problems. 5. Once cabs drops you near temple there are stairs followed by escalator. 6. 20 rupees per person is the rate for 2 escalators which takes you to temple. Or one can go by stairs.

Visited Jakhu Temple in Shimla for Hanuman Ji’s darshan. We took a private van from the Clock Tower for ₹300 (up & down for two people), though there’s also an HRTC bus available for around ₹30 which comes every 30–50 minutes. There are a lot of monkeys around; they’re not harmful but you need to be careful with your belongings. Standing below the huge Hanuman statue and offering prayers felt truly divine and peaceful. A must-visit spot for a calm spiritual experience.”

Viceregal Lodge, also known as Rashtrapati Niwas, is a historic structure in Shimla that served as the summer residence of the Indian Viceroy from 1888 to 1946. It is a significant site for history and architecture enthusiasts, featuring Mock-Tudor architecture surrounded by well-maintained gardens. The lodge has been repurposed into an advanced university complex, limiting access to only a few staterooms during guided tours.
Viceregal Lodge (Indian Institute of Advanced Study), Shimla If you're in Shimla, Viceregal Lodge is an unmissable gem — a stunning blend of history, architecture, and serenity. As a Level 9 Google Local Guide, I found this place to be one of the most well-preserved and informative heritage sites in India. 🕰️ History & Heritage: Built in 1888, this magnificent British-era structure served as the residence of the Viceroy of India. Walking through its grand halls, you can almost feel the echoes of major pre-independence political decisions. It's also where the Shimla Conference of 1945 took place. 🏰 Architecture & Grounds: The Scottish Baronial-style architecture is jaw-dropping. From beautifully carved wooden interiors to its lush green lawns and panoramic views of the surrounding hills — every corner is a postcard. Perfect for history buffs, architecture lovers, and photographers alike. 🎟️ Entry & Guide Services: The guided tour inside the building is well-organized (limited to certain rooms for preservation reasons). The guides are knowledgeable and narrate history in an engaging manner. The entry ticket is reasonably priced, and students often get a discount. 📸 Photo Tip: Photography is allowed only outside the building, but the gardens and exteriors are more than enough to fill your camera roll! 🧼 Cleanliness & Facilities: Very well-maintained premises. Clean restrooms, drinking water stations, and well-marked walking paths. 🅿️ Parking & Access: Ample parking is available near the entrance. Though a bit uphill, it’s accessible by car or taxi. Wheelchair access is limited but the staff is helpful. ☕ Nearby Amenities: There’s a small café and bookstore inside the campus. Also close to other Shimla attractions like the State Museum and Annandale. 🔁 Best Time to Visit: Early mornings or late afternoons. Autumn and Spring bring out the best colors in the garden landscape. --- Final Verdict: Whether you're a traveler, student, or just someone seeking a peaceful retreat with a story — Viceregal Lodge is an experience, not just a destination. Highly recommended for a half-day visit in Shimla!

Loads of jaw dropping advanced features built e.g. Concealed Electrical wiring, advanced Fire fighting system, 200 years old working pendulum, walnut interiors. etc... Its amazing..!! It also contains rare archives, If you are visiting Shimla and keep interest in History...a must must visit. PS - Photography inside the building is prohibited.

The Viceregal Lodge in Shimla is one of those places that instantly takes you back in time. The moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by extraordinary architecture, intricate woodwork, and an atmosphere that reflects the grandeur of the British era. The building itself is absolutely stunning — every corridor, staircase, and room tells a story of its own. The lush gardens outside and the panoramic views from the hilltop add even more charm to the visit. We took the guided tour, which was informative and helped us understand the historical significance of each section of the lodge. However, I personally felt that the tour was a bit rushed. Even though the guide mentioned that we could take our time, we were quickly moved from one room to another. I would have loved to pause longer and really soak in the details — the furniture, the photos, and the artifacts that make this place so special. Despite that, it’s a must-visit attraction in Shimla. The architecture alone makes it worth the trip, and if you’re someone who appreciates history, art, or old-world charm, you’ll definitely enjoy it here. I’d recommend visiting early in the day to truly take in its beauty and peaceful surroundings.

Vicergal lodge named as 13 British viceroys used this placec as residence and used as their capital for 8months every year as summer capital. Draft of partition of India was discussed here. Dr S Radhakrishnan converted this to educational institute IIAS, now offers advanced studies in social science and humanities. British era history involved in this building. 137 years old now. But sad to see poor maintenance and upkeep of structure inspite of hefty entry fee to stay 30 mins inside the building as guided tour.

Situated at 2.5 kms from Shimla railway station, this used to the de-facto power base in India during the British times for 8 months. The first building in Shimla to get electricity, it also saw time as Independent India's first President House for around a decade. Guided tours are available but too many people are stuffed in them and one can't properly appreciate the amount of history (usually in form of images and lettering). A proper way would be to let people go in and browse at their own leisure. Alas, one can't have that. Only the ground floor is accessible (4 odd rooms) to public. There is a lawn and small garden outside as well.
Mayank S — Google review
Nestled amidst the misty peaks of Shimla, the Viceregal Lodge stands as a testament to India's colonial past, a grand edifice that whispers tales of viceroys and vanished empires. As I approached this architectural marvel, perched on Observatory Hill, the crisp mountain air carried the scent of pine and history, instantly transporting me to an era of opulence and intrigue. Built in 1888 as the summer residence for the British Viceroy of India, the lodge exudes an aura of regal elegance. Its Tudor-style architecture, with sloping roofs, ornate chimneys, and intricate stonework, blends seamlessly with the Himalayan landscape. The red-brick facade, adorned with Gothic arches and stained-glass windows, evokes a fairy-tale castle, yet grounded in the rugged beauty of the hills. Stepping inside, I was greeted by polished wooden floors that creaked softly underfoot, echoing the footsteps of luminaries like Lord Kitchener and Lord Curzon, who once paced these halls. The interiors are a treasure trove of Victorian splendor. The Durbar Hall, with its soaring ceilings and crystal chandeliers, once hosted lavish balls and diplomatic gatherings. Antique furniture, Persian rugs, and oil paintings of British royalty adorn the rooms, while the library shelves brim with leather-bound tomes that hint at the intellectual pursuits of yore. Wandering through the private chambers, I imagined the whispers of secret councils and the clink of champagne glasses, all preserved in meticulous detail by the Archaeological Survey of India. What truly captivates is the lodge's panoramic views. From the terrace, Shimla unfolds like a watercolor painting—rolling hills dotted with colonial bungalows, the distant snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas piercing the sky, and the bustling Mall Road below. On a clear day, the vista is breathtaking, a reminder of why this spot was chosen for respite from the plains' heat. The surrounding gardens, with their manicured lawns and exotic flora, offer serene spots for reflection, where one can lose track of time amidst the chirping birds and gentle breeze. Visiting Viceregal Lodge isn't just a historical detour; it's an immersive journey into India's layered heritage. The entry fee is modest, and guided tours provide fascinating insights without overwhelming the senses. For history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a peaceful escape, this lodge is indispensable. It left me with a profound appreciation for the past's enduring charm, urging me to return and uncover more secrets. In a world of fleeting trends, Viceregal Lodge remains a beautiful, unchanging beacon of grace and grandeur.

The Viceregal Lodge, also known as the Rashtrapati Niwas, is one of Shimla’s most magnificent and historically rich landmarks. Perched on Observatory Hill, this grand Scottish-style mansion was once the summer residence of the British Viceroy of India — a place where many important decisions shaping modern India were made. Built in 1888, the architecture is a masterpiece of grey stone walls, intricate woodwork, and lush gardens that overlook the hills. Every corridor inside tells a story — from the polished teak interiors to the grand staircase that echoes the footsteps of history. The guided tour gives fascinating insights into the colonial era, showing original furniture, photographs, and relics from the time when Shimla was the summer capital of British India. Outside, the lawns are perfectly manicured, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere ideal for slow walks and reflection. Whether you’re a history lover, architecture enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates timeless beauty, the Viceregal Lodge is a must-visit in Shimla.

Specialty Museums
The Virasat-e-Khalsa museum is a remarkable fortress-style structure that features exhibits and galleries dedicated to the history of Sikhism. It offers an incredible portrayal of both ancient and contemporary times, with special attention given to light and sound effects within the museum. The wax statues are so lifelike that they can easily be mistaken for real people, making it a perfect example of art and creativity.
A must-visit place that beautifully showcases the rich history and spiritual legacy of Sikhism. The architecture is simply breathtaking — a perfect blend of modern design and cultural depth. The galleries inside take you on an immersive journey through the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and important events in Sikh history. Entry is free, and phones are allowed, but photography inside the museum is strictly not allowed — which honestly helps you stay present and absorb the experience better. The museum is well-maintained, peaceful, and has a calming vibe throughout. One downside — the cafeteria inside is currently closed, so plan your food/snack breaks accordingly. Also, it’s a bit of a walk from the main gate to the entrance, so wear comfy shoes and maybe carry water, especially during sunny days. Overall, a beautifully curated experience and a great place to learn, reflect, and feel proud of Punjab’s heritage.

After visiting the Gurudwara at Anandpur Sahib, I was looking for a place to have lunch when I came across the Virasat-e-Khalsa. I decided to visit with my family, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. On arrival, I discovered that the complex houses the Virasat-e-Khalsa Museum along with a beautiful park that you can explore. The museum is vast and beautifully curated, providing an immersive experience into the rich history, culture, and sacrifices of our Gurus. It showcases how they preserved and promoted the heritage of our land through challenging times, making it both educational and inspiring. The Virasat-e-Khalsa restaurant on-site serves simple yet delicious food at very reasonable prices. Overall, the Virasat-e-Khalsa complex provides a perfect combination of tasty food, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a deep cultural and historical experience — truly a must-visit in Anandpur Sahib

Very well designed, immersive galleries, informs about Sikhism in detailed narrative, impressive supporting visual narration. Iconic architecture by Moshe Safde and brilliant exhibits by NID. Ticketing could be improved, galleries could have more descriptions for further reference, sound from adjacent galleries distract.

Site - Huge. Landscape -Qater body around. Architecture - Architect Moshe Sedie, Israel. Interior - No idea- Great- 5 star. Art Work - No idea - The best and great. 5 star. Lighting - No idea- Very Poor- 1 star. Sound - No idea. Only if you download the app and use headphone. --- It has a beautiful architecture but more than that Art Work inside, displaying whole history of Sikhi starting from its inception to 1948. Everything so beautifully designed, executed various pavilions, it is totally mesmerising. Artist put so much effort to connect all dots well. But sadly, lighting design is upto 5% thus absolutely flawed. Very first three story pavillion has day & night theme depicting 24 hours life in Punjab from rural to urban, from shop to home to all religious places but time for night is longer than the day thus you are unable to see the beauty and hard work out by artist/s and from behind guards keeps whistling, insisting you to keep moving (though it was not crowded at all!!)!! And this fault in lighting design is everywhere, less or more, you can't even read some display texts!! Ita worth visiting multiple times. Required time duration to complete it - 3-4 hours. Toilets - lavish and clean. Timing -1000 to 1630 (Monday Closed). Timing must be recieved, must be open ar 0900.

When exploring Kasauli, a visit to Christ Church is a must for travelers seeking a blend of heritage and spirituality. This historic church dates back to the British rule and showcases architectural splendor with stained-glass windows and a clock tower. Located near Mall road, it offers a tranquil environment that provides insight into the region's colonial past and spiritual heritage. The church's serene ambiance makes it an essential stop for cultural enrichment in any Kasauli itinerary.
It is one of the most mesmerizing, peaceful, and spiritual places I have ever been to. Because it is placed nearby the market or parking stand you can easily go there by foot. This parking space (50 Rs. for two wheeler) is for all tourists as vehicles from other places are not allowed in that area. Only taxis can go towards the sunset point and Gill Beet Trail. The church is surrounded by tall deodar trees, feels like a serene oasis. It's stunning example of Gothic architecture, with its stained glass windows beautifully shows the scenes of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary.  The wooden interiors and sloping roof give it an enchanting, old-world charm. A number of tourists come to visit this Church especially on weekends. Even if you are not religious, you will find yourself drawn to its beauty and serenity and it is truly magical. The church is well-maintained, clean, and has a rich history that you can learn about from the friendly people there. Officially, the photography is not allowed inside, you can capture some gorgeous pictures outside as the church framed by the lush surroundings. At this church, you can experience the glimpse of history, beauty, and spirituality together. It is must visit placed in Kasauli.

An old style British era church reminds you of an epic journey to a place stationed somewhere in memories. The architecture of the church is very nice and you can spend some quiet time with God here. Inside the atmosphere is very nice and peaceful. Now this church attracts many tourists and it is just a few meters away from new parking Kasuali.

Christ Church, Kasauli – A Peaceful Hilltop Retreat with a Touch of History Nestled in the serene hills of Kasauli, Christ Church is a beautiful and calming place to visit, especially if you're someone who enjoys peaceful environments and colonial charm. Located at the heart of this quaint hill station, the church stands as a quiet reminder of British-era architecture, with its stunning Gothic design, stained-glass windows, and tall pine trees surrounding it. The church is not just a religious spot but also a perfect place for travelers seeking tranquility. The calmness of the area, the cool breeze, and the scenic views make it ideal for reflection, photography, or simply sitting and soaking in the peace. Being one of the oldest churches in Himachal Pradesh (built in 1853), it carries historical significance too. What makes it special: Situated in a picturesque hill station, surrounded by lush greenery and colonial-era buildings. Offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere, away from the chaos of city life. Great spot for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and nature seekers. Just a short walk from Mall Road, making it accessible for all. One downside to keep in mind is the presence of monkeys in the area. While they generally don’t bother visitors if left alone, it's advisable not to carry food openly or engage with them. Pro tips: Visit during early morning or late afternoon for the best experience. Avoid feeding or teasing monkeys. Carry a camera – the church and its surroundings are truly photogenic. Whether you're in Kasauli for a weekend getaway or just passing through, Christ Church is definitely worth a visit for its timeless charm and peaceful vibes.

On a recent visit to Kasauli, I had the pleasure of visiting Christ Church, and it was a truly serene and memorable experience. We went on a Saturday morning, and to our delight, there was no wait, allowing us to enter and explore at our own pace. The church itself is a beautiful example of neo-Gothic architecture, with a peaceful and timeless atmosphere. Inside, the stunning stained-glass windows depicting Christ, Mother Mary, and St. Francis and St. John are the main attraction. The vibrant colors and intricate details are breathtaking, especially when the light streams through them. It's the kind of artistry that makes you want to sit and contemplate for a while. A unique and touching part of the visit was the opportunity to buy candles for prayer. You simply sit inside the church, and a caretaker comes around to offer candles. There's something deeply personal and humbling about lighting a candle in such a historic and spiritual space. It’s a simple act that adds a layer of personal reflection to the visit. The overall feeling is one of tranquility and calm. It’s a place to escape the hustle and bustle, to find a moment of peace, and to appreciate the history and architecture. The lack of crowds on a Saturday was a major plus, making the experience even more intimate. Whether you are a history buff, a spiritual seeker, or just looking for a quiet place to sit and think, Christ Church is a must-visit in Kasauli.

A truly serene and beautiful spot in Kasauli! This old British-era church, with its stunning Gothic architecture and peaceful atmosphere, offers a perfect escape for quiet reflection. A historic Neo-Gothic church built in 1853, located on Mall Road. Features stunning glass windows imported from England and beautiful architecture set among pine trees. The location offers peaceful valley views with natural pine fragrance. Mostly open on weekends for tourists.

The Christ Church Kasauli situated close to the bus stand, was constructed by the the British family who founded the town of Kasauli itself. The church is a magnificent structure built in the shape of a cross. Set amidst a grove of chestnut and fir trees, the church offers quiet and tranquil atmosphere. Earlier the church was known by the name of Anglican Church. In the year 1970, the church was brought under the aegis of the CNI (Churches of North India). It is currently managed by the diocese of Amritsar. The Christ Church is the prime building in the centre of the heritage area of Kasauli town and as one enters the main town, this is the first building which comes to view. This church was previously an Anglican church and was founded in the year 1844,😇🙏
Reena — Google review
A very beautiful church built in 1800s by the Britishers. Marvellous architecture, very similar to other churches established by the Britishers in various hill stations across India. The church is open from morning till a little post sunset. The church has guards ensuring one doesn't litter it and create nuisance. There is a washroom and parking nearby. The church is very close to the basement parking at kasauli i.e. the moment you enter the hill station fee barrier. A must go, once you are here.

Sunset Point in Kasauli is a popular destination for nature lovers and couples seeking romantic views. Located near the Kasauli Club, this lookout offers breathtaking vistas of the sun setting behind the majestic Himalayan mountains. Visitors can also enjoy sunrise views from this point, making it an ideal spot to start the day. The area surrounding Sunset Point is known for its misty wooded peaks and tranquil valleys, providing a serene atmosphere for quiet walks and photography opportunities.
A beautiful experience, and actually magical which will leave you confused whether it's dawn or dusk. A easy walk about 30 mins to one hour, but you won't feel the pinch. As the walk is through beautiful ancient british era bungalows and trees, and flowers blooming. Just near sunset point is a small cafe. I didn't like cafe much as it was filled with plastic (selling items). The walk was beautiful and so was the timing. It felt like looking at a sea with mountains, and the sun dipping. We were there for an hour until the sun finally went in. Beware of the monkeys, don't feed them please. Don't try to shoo them either, just walk your path and they would be fine. Please don't litter this beautiful place, the army takes in a lot of effort to keep it open to the rest of country. We should respect that.
WinNie — Google review
I've been visiting Kasauli Sunset Point regularly over the past 15 years — around 15 to 20 times — and it never loses its charm. This spot holds a special place in my heart for its peaceful and calming atmosphere. The serenity here is unmatched, especially on quiet weekdays when you can truly absorb the beauty of nature without distractions. The view during sunset is breathtaking, and if you’re lucky to catch it on a cloudy day, the place turns magical — almost surreal. The best time to visit is from September to December, when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear. Tip: Try to avoid weekends (Saturday & Sunday), as the place tends to get crowded with tourists from nearby states. On such days, the peaceful charm fades and the area feels more like a regular park rather than a serene hill station. If you're someone who appreciates quiet moments and scenic beauty, make sure to plan your visit during weekdays. Kasauli Sunset Point is truly a gem — a peaceful escape that deserves to be treated with care and respect.

One of the most beautiful sunset views I’ve ever seen—peaceful hills, glowing skies, and a calm vibe that’s hard to describe. It's nature’s therapy. I visited on a weekend and found it a bit crowded, so try going on a weekday for a quieter experience. There are two small eateries nearby for chai and snacks—simple but perfect. ✨ Tips: – Arrive 20–30 mins before sunset for the best spot – Wear a light jacket (it gets breezy) – Avoid weekends if you prefer less crowd – Carry your camera—every angle is a wallpaper

A peaceful spot offering beautiful valley views, especially during sunset. Located 3 km from Mall Road - 2 km by taxi and 1 km walk required. The area is well-maintained by the Air Force and a small play area. Arrive 20-30 minutes early as the sunset happens quickly.

The place has a really nice atmosphere and peaceful vibes. It’s surrounded by natural beauty and is known for its amazing sunset view. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the sunset properly because the weather was bad that day. Still, it felt refreshing to visit — definitely worth coming back on a clear day!

A Golden Farewell at Sunset Point, Kasauli Sunset Point in Kasauli truly lives up to its name, offering a spectacular view as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. It's a must-visit for anyone in Kasauli seeking a tranquil and picturesque experience. Getting there is quite easy. You can enjoy a pleasant walk from the main parking area, which is a great way to take in the serene surroundings. Alternatively, taxis are readily available to drop you closer to the viewpoint, making it accessible for everyone. The sunset itself is the main draw here, and it's absolutely mesmerizing. The panoramic views of the valleys and distant peaks make for a stunning backdrop, perfect for photography or simply soaking in the natural beauty. A crucial tip: Don't bother visiting on a cloudy day! The entire purpose of the point is to witness the sunset, and if the sky is overcast, you'll be left disappointed. Plan your visit for a clear evening to ensure you get the full experience. Be prepared when you go, as there are no shops or vendors at Sunset Point. Remember to carry your own water bottles and any snacks you might need to stay hydrated and energized while you enjoy the view. Overall, a highly recommended spot for a beautiful end to your day in Kasauli!

The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, with a cool breeze and a panoramic view of the valleys below. It makes you feel so calm and connected to nature. Whether you're a tourist or a local, making your way here for the evening is 100% worth it. It’s the highlight of Kasauli!

I recently visited Gilbert Trail with a group of six friends, and it was such a wonderful experience that I felt compelled to share. From the moment we arrived, the serene atmosphere provided a perfect escape from the city's hustle. The trail itself is impeccably maintained—wide, clean, and paved, making it easy for all seven of us to walk side-by-side without any trouble. We spent the entire time chatting and laughing while enjoying the breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and lush landscape. The peaceful sounds of nature and the shade from the trees created a truly tranquil backdrop for our catch-up session. What we appreciated most was how the trail caters to everyone. Whether you're looking for a vigorous walk or a leisurely stroll, the flat terrain is accessible and enjoyable. We noticed many families, joggers, and other small groups, all sharing the space respectfully. There are also plenty of benches along the way, which was great for when we wanted to pause, sit together, and just soak in the natural beauty. It was the ideal blend of light exercise, beautiful scenery, and quality time with friends. I cannot recommend Gilbert Trail enough for anyone looking to spend a refreshing few hours outdoors. We left feeling rejuvenated and are already planning our next visit

Manki Point, also known as Sanjeevni Hanuman Temple, is a small Hindu temple located on a hilltop in Kasauli. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is home to many monkeys. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding area from the top of the hill. The temple was recently reopened after being closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Visitors are not allowed to bring cameras or phones and must deposit all bags at the check point before proceeding on foot.
A visit to Hanuman Ji temple is truly rewarding! Be prepared for a hard trek and a long walk with many stairs — it’s definitely challenging. But once you reach the top, the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views make it all worth it.”

Everything A grade, only to reach there especially for elderly is bit difficult. As vehicles are not allowed and got to walk steep road for 4 to 5 km is difficult . Govt should start e rickshaws for public.

This is the highest point of Kasauli. Took a cab all the way up to the air force sub station. From there it was a 30 min climb (would have been much faster if I was alone). It is just a lot of stairs but they are nicely paved and well maintained. Senior citizens and even 70+ year olds also come up if they take a lot of rest in between (there are places to sit and rest). The temple at the top has a peaceful vibe. There are monkeys here and you'll be instructed to not carry food in your hand. If you have the "prasadam" from the temple, carry them in your pockets. This is also known as the Monkey point or Manki point. Our cab driver told us "Manki" is not a spelling error but refers to the hindi word "mann ki" (something related to heart/soul) but not sure about it's authenticity. The main downside of visiting this place is that it is close to the air force station and all electronic devices are prohibited - meaning no photography at all. Most of the pics you see here on this pin are actually from different places in Kasauli (added erroneously ...smh). Some pictures of the temple can be taken from a km away from the Gilbert Trail if you zoom in. There is a paid locker where you submit your bags and devices and go for the hike.

Temple is located at 6500 feets. 300 steps to climb. Only taxis are allowed from Mall Road Car Parking or you trek for an hour. Mountain views are awesome. It is believed that during Lord Hanumans flight from himalayas bringing Sanjeevani booti his left foot was rested on this hill and hence the importance of this place. Mobiles, photography etc strictly prohibited 🚫 in this area.

Its a beautiful temple located on mountain top of kasauli. The visiting time is till 4pm all around the year and 1-2 is lunch time. There is no Entry fee. Taxi service is available from mall road to manki point for 200-250 rupees per person but I would highly recommend to cover the beautiful trail on foot as you get to enjoy the beautiful path. Its is hardly 3-4 kms and an easy trail. If you are lucky enough you get to see the valley covered with beautiful flowers specially during monsoon (mid July- September end). Or you can choose the small path going via sunset point which connects to manki point in between and is about 1-1.5kms and slightly steep. Phones, smart watches and bags are not allowed inside the temple area as it is a Cantt area and you can submit your belongings by paying some charges. Carry cash as you will be needing it for buying food/water inside the temple premises. After entering the cantt area, temple is half kilometer on top with 282 stairs. You can enjoy the view from top. Beware of monkeys if carrying food items.
Pratiksha N — Google review
the Sanjeevani Hanuman Temple is a must visit place in kasauli. Located atop a mountain, the temple is accessible only by foot. Be aware that it's situated within an Air Force station, meaning no mobile phones or electronic devices are allowed inside. A paid locker facility is available to store your belongings before you proceed. Security checks are mandatory before entering the temple area. Please note that many Google Maps photos for this location are inaccurate due to the no-phone policy; they often depict other Kasauli locations. Despite these restrictions, the temple itself has a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere and is definitely worth the trek. One important tip: monkeys are abundant, so don't carry food items or other stuff in your hànd and it's advisable to visit in a group.

Inside, devotees can find the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism.
Our family visited Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara during 21 to 23 October 2025 Dipawali holidays Darshan. We stayed at Sri Guru Arian Devji Niwas, near campus. Due to the blessings of God, we took Darshan for 3 consecutive days, in a calm, tranquil, pious, religious atmosphere. We got Langar prasad. The Shri Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, is a spiritual and cultural beacon for Sikhs worldwide. Located in Amritsar, Punjab, India, it's a masterpiece of Sikh architecture, blending Indian and Islamic styles. The temple's gleaming gold dome and intricate marble work create a breathtaking sight, especially when illuminated at night. The sacred Amrit Sarovar pool surrounds the temple, symbolizing spiritual growth. As the holiest gurmukhā gurudwārā, it houses the Guru Granth Sahib, Sikhism's holy scripture. The temple's four entrances signify equality and openness, welcoming people from all walks of life.

Beautiful, humbling place. There was so much to experience from the Golden temple to the jora service to the langar service to the gold sewa workshop. The museums on-site are also there to serve as a reminder of the resilience that Sikhs have had to have to survive and become a large community. There are many gurudwaras and soravars (lakes) on-site to take amrat as well. To be able to sit under the trees that some of the Gurus had done so was also wonderful. A beautiful place to visit.

Visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, was a truly divine and peaceful experience. The moment you step inside, the positive energy of the place surrounds you completely. The sight of the golden structure reflecting on the holy water is absolutely breathtaking, it feels serene and spiritual in every sense. The seva done by volunteers, from helping visitors to preparing and serving food in the langar, is truly inspiring. The langar experience itself is something everyone should have at least once, pure, and full of devotion. The entire temple complex is extremely well-maintained, clean, and beautifully organized despite the huge crowds. The pathway around the sarovar is peaceful for sitting or walking, especially in the early morning or late evening when the lighting makes it look magical. Overall, Sri Harmandir Sahib is not just a religious place but a symbol of peace, equality, and faith. No matter what your background is, you’ll feel a deep sense of spirituality here. A must-visit place that truly touches the heart.

Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, originally built by Guru Ram Das Ji, is a full-on serenity powerhouse. The entire space operates like a high-efficiency ecosystem — calm energy, timeless architecture, and a 24/7 langar that serves thousands with seamless execution. This was a very spiritually uplifting Gurudwara to visit. The Gurudwara is very well managed and meticulously maintained. Everything was perfect. The upstairs of the Gurudwara has the Darbar hall as well as historic weapons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji (Sri Sahib and Katar) while the downstairs has horse prints of Guru Sahib’s horse. The Gurudwara offers langar, a travellers hostel (200RS per night for very basic accommodation) as well as langar and free parking. A true blessing to visit.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji came to this place 4 times. After winning the Battle of Bhangani on his way back to Anandpur Sahib, via Gurdwara Sri Baoli Sahib Dhakauli and Gurdwara Sri Nadha Sahib Panchkula, Guru Gobind Singh arrived here. At the time a bhatha (kiln) was situated. It was burning at full capacity. Guru Ji asked the bhatha labourers about a place he could rest. Knowingly or unknowningly the labourers pointed towards the bhatha. Guru Ji directed his horse (Neela) to step on the extremely hot kiln. At once the bhatha cooled down and Guru Ji's horse hoof left a mark (a hoof print which can be seen at the Gurdwara). One of the labourers informed Chaudhary Nihang Khan, the owner of the bhatha, who was in his Qila at the time. He rushed to the bhatha and to his astonishment saw Guru Gobind Singh sitting on the bhatha. Chaudhary bowed his head in front of the Guru and asked for a pardon. Chaudhary then took Guru Ji to his fort. On the following day, Guru Gobind Singh and his Singhs proceeded to Anandpur. During Guru Gobind Singh's second visit, Guru Ji came to this place for the engagement of Alam Khan, Chaudary Nihang Khan's son. On Guru Gobind Singh's return from Kurukshetra, Guru Ji stopped here for his third visit. After Guru Gobind Singh left Anandpur for the final time, Guru stopped here for his forth and final visit. He asked Nihang Khan to look after Bhai Bachittar Singh as Bhai Ji had been mortally wounded. As a huge mughal force was chasing Guru Ji, he left. But before leaving, Guru Ji provided Nihang Khan with a Sri Sahib, a katar and a shield. The items can be viewed at the Gurdwara and Bhai Bachittar Singh's shastaars can be viewed at Gurdwara Sri Shaheed Ganj Bhai Bachittar Singh in Kotla Nihang, Ropar. Prakash Diwas of 1st, 5th and 10th Patshahi, Sangrand with Amrit Sanchar, Jor Mela from 1st Poh to 4th Poh and the anniversary of Baba Jiwan Singh Ji on 11th are organised here.

Has to be the best place in chandigarh, one of the best walking / jogging track you'd see.. lake on one side and green belt on the other.. sit for sometime and enjoy the wonderful hills in the backdrop and feel the cool breeze.. plenty of parking and a wonderful cafe..
Sumit G — Google review
I visited Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh early morning recently, and it was a refreshing experience! This man-made lake, built in 1958 by Le Corbusier’s team, is a serene spot with calm waters reflecting the Shivalik hills. The early morning vibe was magical—cool air, chirping birds, and a stunning sunrise painting the sky. The walking path was perfect for a peaceful stroll, and I loved watching locals jogging and practicing yoga. The nearby café served tasty snacks, adding to the charm. However, some areas had litter, which slightly detracted from the beauty. Also, more benches would’ve been nice for resting. Despite these, Sukhna Lake’s tranquility and scenic views make it a lovely spot to start the day in Chandigarh.

A Serene Escape and the Jewel of Chandigarh! During my visit to Chandigarh for the ISRT meeting this September, a trip to Sukhna Lake was the perfect way to unwind. The moment I arrived, I was struck by the incredible sense of peace and tranquility. The lake itself is beautiful, with placid waters shimmering against the stunning backdrop of the distant Shivalik Hills. A leisurely stroll along the clean, wide promenade was so refreshing and offered a wonderful escape from the city's hustle. The atmosphere was calm and rejuvenating, and I could see why it's such a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike. Sukhna Lake is truly the jewel of Chandigarh. It was a highlight of my trip and is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a moment of peace and natural beauty
Sohaib A — Google review
I have been visiting this place and it remains an incredible destination to relax and reconnect with nature. Sukhna Lake, a serene reservoir at the foothills of the Shivalik Hills in the Himalayas, is an integral part of Chandigarh’s planned cityscape. Even today, it stands as one of India’s most famous artificial lakes and planned city, offering a tranquil experience with still waters. Nestled at the forefront of Sector 1, the lake is surrounded by lush forests and sits adjacent to the governor’s residences of both states. The morning sunshine here is truly mesmerizing, creating a magical aura for early risers. Joggers, walkers, and yoga enthusiasts find their perfect spot along the lake’s edge to embrace the refreshing start of the day.

It is a very nice and big garden where you can easily spend 2 to 3 hours. Childrens play area are also there. There are lots of varities of roses from all over the world. Sights & Landmarks
Gurudwara Sri Manji (Baoli) Sahib Ji is a stunning Sikh temple adorned with gilded domes and intricately designed marble prayer halls, set within a spacious colonnaded courtyard. This sacred site marks the location where the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind, took refuge during his journey to meet Emperor Jahangir. Nestled along G.T.
The Gurudwara Manji Sahib was built on the site where the sixth Guru stayed during his visit to Ambala city. The main Gurudwara building is on G.T. Road (Shershah Suri Marg). Devotees come to this pilgrimage site to take a dip in the nearby pond. They also take nectar from the stepwell built by the sixth Guru during his stay here. Gurdwara Baoli Sahib or Gurdwara Manji Sahib – It is said that Guru Hargobind stayed here on his way to meet Emperor Jahangir. Villagers of nearby Khurrampur Majri complained of a chronic shortage of drinking water. The Guru encouraged them to dig a stepwell and ordered some of the Sikhs living there to help the villagers dig the stepwell and bridge it. On returning from Delhi, the Guru was happy to see that the work was completed. The Sikhs established a memorial platform, the Manji Sahib, at the place where the Guru lived near Baoli.

Very calm and serene place. Visited this place during my SSC exam. The place is beautiful especially at night. There's a pond behind the main Gurudwara which is lovely. They have good room facility to stay at night. Only 300 for a night. Rooms are spacious and they are also clean as well. Although the top most rooms can feel a little hot in summer. But it's the ideal place to stay if you are going for an exam.

Very faithful and peaceful and beautiful palace. Spiritual healing and peace are the properties of the Gurudwara Dukhnivaran Sahib, one of the most revered Gurudwaras in Punjab. Located in Lehal, a part of Patiala, it is famous for its curing properties for any ailments that anyone may be suffering from. Visitors have faith in abluting in the holy water of the pond here, because of its healing qualities. Gurudwara Dukhnivaran Sahib's origin is tied to a villager named Bhag Ram from Lehal, who sought the blessings of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to end a mysterious plague afflicting the area. In January 1672, the Guru visited Lehal, spending time by the village pond, preaching and meditating under a banyan tree. His presence and meditation led to the plague's eradication. Consequently, the site where Guru Ji meditated came to be known as Dukhnivaran, meaning "the end of all sufferings", and this name was given to the Gurudwara. Between 1748 and 1782, Raja Amar Singh of Patiala established a garden in honour of Guru Tegh Bahadur's special visit, entrusting its care to Nihang Sikhs. Court records from 1870 mention a garden belonging to the Guru and a well, used by the Nihangs. In 1920, plans to build a railway line threatened the banyan tree where Guru Tegh Bahadur had sat, but workers refused to cut it down. Consequently, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh cancelled the project. Although a Gurudwara had not yet been built, a committee was formed in 1930 to raise funds and begin construction. Twelve years later, in 1942, the building was completed under the supervision of Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, a devout Sikh. True to its name, Gurudwara Dukhnivaran Sahib is believed to alleviate grief for those who visit with a pure heart and offer sincere prayers.
Devansh G — Google review
Gurdwara Shri Dukh Nivaran Sahib is not just a religious site; it's an oasis of profound peace and spiritual solace. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere envelops you in a sense of calm and serenity. The architecture is stunningly beautiful, with the gleaming white marble and gold domes creating a majestic yet welcoming sight. The complex is incredibly well-maintained, with spotlessly clean premises and beautifully landscaped gardens that invite quiet contemplation. The highlight, as the name suggests ('Dukh Nivaran' meaning 'Eraser of Sorrows'), is the peaceful and uplifting energy of the main sanctum. Listening to the continuous recitation of Gurbani (Guru's hymns) is a heart-touching experience that feels truly liberating. The Langar (community kitchen) is run with immense dedication and selfless service (Seva). The food is simple, delicious, and served with so much love and warmth, embodying the core Sikh principle of equality and community. Whether you are seeking spiritual blessings, historical knowledge, or simply a quiet place to find inner peace, this Gurdwara is a must-visit. The volunteers and staff are helpful and humble. An absolutely unforgettable experience that stays with you long after you've left. Highly recommended for everyone.

Shri Kali Devi Mandir, a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Kali, was constructed by Sikh Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1936. It is a highly revered religious site that remains bustling throughout the day with devotees seeking blessings from Maa Kali and hoping for their wishes to be fulfilled. Situated in Patiala, this must-visit temple boasts of new infrastructure and a well-maintained parking area.
We visited the temple on a Sunday and believe me it was too crowded. We don't get to see the deity properly as the priests will literally push you away. Frankly speaking, cleanliness of the surroundings of the temple needs to be worked on...it was littered with garlands, wine bottles and Puja items. If these things are not allowed inside the temple..then it must be restricted.

Visitors can also enjoy the on-site cafeteria and clean restroom facilities, adding to the overall experience. A visit to Baradari Garden during the summer months is highly recommended, as you will notice a significant drop in temperature as you step into this lush sanctuary, making it a perfect retreat from the heat

A heritage garden of Patiala. Nice to walk around here and relax. There are many trees and flowers along with places to sit. There is also an exercise corner, yoga corner, and kids place. Many old statues can't be find anymore. These days the garden lacks upkeep and maintenance. Hope to see its stunning glory back.

Choti baradari gardens is a place in front of Baradari palace which was residence of Emperor Rajinder Singh. He brought rare species of trees and flowers from different places and planted them in this garden. The big fruit trees the Fern House and the Rock Garden shows his interest towards nature
