It was a one-of-a-kind experience, especially in the snow. We trekked alone through the snowy landscape and even witnessed live snowfall. The next morning, the view was absolutely breathtaking. However, it was so cold that taking photos was a real challenge.

It is a peaceful and beautiful spot surrounded by nature. It holds religious importance as it is linked to Sage Rishi Parashar..so visitors are requested to avoid smoking, drinking or loud music. The weather is refreshing and the views are stunning. Please help keep the area clean and respect its calm and spiritual environment.

Very offbeat place with very less crowd. Religious place, temple of Rishi Parashar. The views are amazing but you can feel difficult to breathe here, so don’t push yourself alot. Lovely journey.

Pics are from 2019. One serene place to visit. Can be reached both by trekking and by bus. They say the water of the lake is holy. • Floating Island Phenomenon At its center floats a small island of vegetation that shifts position over time-covering roughly 7 % of the lake's surface, with the remaining 93 % water Local lore frames it as a "microcosm of Earth" and says its motion foretells natural events • Spiritual Significance A three-storied pagoda-style temple stands on the shore, dedicated to Rishi Parashara. Built in the 13th-14th century by King Ban Sen of Mandi, it was reportedly carved from a single deodar tree and decorated with fine woodwork. The site sees major festivals like Rishi Panchami, Sauranahulia, and other fairs that draw pilgrims from across neighboring valleys. . Legendary Origin According to myth, after the Kurukshetra War, Bhima-one of the Pandavas-struck a mountain with his elbow to create a depression in which the lake formed for Lord Kamrunag, who wanted to stay there forever.

Baijnath temple is a beautiful shiva temple in Kangra district of Himachal , according to some sources it’s one of the 12 jyotirlingas The beauty of the Dhauladhar valleys is worth seeing from this temple. This temple is famous for its mythology, architecture and beauty. According to mythology and available historical evidence, this temple was constructed by two merchant brothers named 'Ahuka' and 'Mamuk' in 1204 AD. According to a popular belief, the Pandavas built this temple during their exile in the Dwapar era It is known that Dussehra is not celebrated in Baijnath because Ravana was a beloved devotee of Shiva. It is said that once some local people burnt the effigy of Ravana during Dussehra and after this the organizers and their families had to face misfortune. After that no one tried to celebrate Dussehra here. The temples isn’t wheelchair accessible at all

A serene and spiritually uplifting place! The Baijnath Temple's ancient architecture, peaceful surroundings, and rich history make it a must-visit. Nestled in the Himalayas, it's perfect for both devotees and travelers seeking calm and beauty. Truly divine and well maintained!

The atmosphere of the temple is really good. It's very old temple and build quality is extraordinary. The carvings on the walls are extraordinary. You should attend aarti in evening. I have attended that twice. There was a group young devotees singing bhajans once and they really made our experience to next level. There is a place where children can play and we can click pics of natural beauty.

Bijli Mahadev🕉️ is truly a divine and unforgettable experience! The panoramic views from the top are absolutely breathtaking — you can see the confluence of Beas and Parvati rivers and endless layers of mountains. The trek is moderate and well worth the effort, surrounded by pine trees and fresh mountain air. The temple🛕 itself holds an incredible spiritual energy, and the legend behind the lightning strike and the Shiva Lingam is fascinating. It’s a peaceful, soul-refreshing place — perfect for both nature lovers and spiritual seekers. Highly recommend visiting early morning or around sunset for the most magical vibes. Don’t miss this gem when you're in Himachal!❤️
Naveen R — Google review
The temple is about 4 km uphill trek from the car parking. It is a moderately tough trekk. The route is well laid with stairs and has a good cover of forest trees. Temple is very beautiful, and the scenery around the temple, especially behind the temple, is something that should not be missed at all. The temple was not very crowded when we visited.
Mohit A — Google review
The journey itself is beautiful, winding through small villages and forests. The final climb is a bit steep, but the reward at the top is absolutely priceless. The most magical time to visit is during the monsoon or just a day after it has rained. We went after a rainfall, and the sky was crystal clear. The view of Bhuntar town and the Parvati River valley below was incredibly sharp and breathtaking. It felt like we were on top of the world! Another great thing is the road connectivity. The road leading to the trek's starting point is well-connected to the main NH3 highway, making it very easy to reach by car or taxi. We also noticed many charming homestays in the surrounding villages, offering a comfortable and authentic stay for trekkers. This place is perfect for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful yet adventurous getaway. Highly recommended for a unique experience

Bijli Mahadev Temple, nestled in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, is renowned for its unique legend and stunning location. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is said to be struck by lightning annually, a phenomenon that gives it the name "Bijli" (lightning) Mahadev. The temple, built in traditional Pahari style, sits atop a hill, offering breathtaking views and a challenging trek for devotees. The temple's namesake legend involves the Shiva Linga within being shattered by lightning and then miraculously restored by the temple priest using a paste of butter and sattoo. This annual event is a central part of the temple's identity and draws pilgrims and tourists alike. The trek to Bijli Mahadev is a scenic one, passing through lush forests and offering glimpses of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The temple's architecture reflects the traditional Pahari style, with intricate wood carvings and a 60-foot long wooden staff believed to attract lightning. The combination of natural beauty, spiritual significance, and architectural charm makes Bijli Mahadev a must-visit destination in the Kullu region. Bijli Mahadev Temple | Incredible India Lightning tales and divine intervention. Legend has it that the Shiva Linga enshrined in the temple was shattered into pieces by a lightning bolt. Must visit Lord shiva temple if you are in or around Kullu-Manali. It is believed that lightning (bijli) strikes the lingam and then it is restored using local butter making it unique and powerful. To reach here, you have 3 routes - 1. Main one via Kullu & Chansari - I took this one on my scooter which includes 21 kms ride from Kullu till the trekking point near Gobha village. Bus drops you near Dharth village. Trekking is around 1.5-2 kms which took me an hour. 2. Via Jana - it is risky and steep but I heard that you can directly reach the top on your vehicle. Was inaccessible at my time. 3. Via Kasol side - Long & dangerous. Locals suggested not to go from that. Google map shows that one only. All the three sides - Kullu, Bhuntar and Kasol are visible from the top. I didn’t find any stay facilities there but you have food and washrooms. Weather was very unpredictable so I rushed back asap. Locals are very helpful and kind. P.S - The ropeway work is ongoing and locals are protesting against it citing the deforestation and environmental damage. Date of Visit - 26th March 2025

The backdrop of snow-capped mountains and lush greenery makes it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and photographers. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque views of the waterfall, set amidst pine forests and apple orchards.
It truly is. A little gem high up on the mountain with clear water crisp air gorgeous trees amazing birds and a stunning view to be blown away.. it’s easier to take a car and go, do climb up.. wear comfortable walking shoes as the view up is lovely.. don’t forget to buy some shawls from the ladies stalls near the waterfall and definitely eat at the himachali dhaba down it’s manned by a Bengali family but the cuisine is himachali that’s our national integration at its best.. take the Thai as they serve a lot I’d things in it and it’s quite economical..

What it lacks in size, it makes up in beauty, ambience and liveliness. The waterfall is accessible, the water is sparkling and cold, and local hospitality adds its own charm. Best appreciated before the peak season crowds jam the place.
Subrata R — Google review
All in all - its just a theek thaak waterfall. JANA on the other hand is a bful place to stay Waterfall starts when one starts moving uphill from naggar. Water trail can be seen at many places, but this is the best of them. It is located 15 mins from Jana village - 15 mins when you ride continuously. In season, one should park vehicle before and walk to the waterfall for lot of tourists may cause jam. The road from Naggar is good only in patches, and its not a very wide road. By the time one reaches waterfall, there is no sign of pucca road. - i guess the work is currently in progress. if one continues to go uphill, one will reach Bijli Mahadev Temple
Robin S — Google review
I went in June mid, there wasn’t much water flowing in the water fall. The road with pine trees is amazing. Waterfall itself wasn’t that good but the journey was great. The road is problematic towards the end so take care.
Kulvinder S — Google review
Peaceful Spot but Not Worth the Tough & Far Journey Jana Waterfall, nestled in the quiet village of Jana Gaon near Kullu, offers a serene and refreshing setting. The small stream that gently winds through the rocks and falls over a short distance is indeed beautiful, with its soothing sound and natural charm. The simplicity and natural beauty of the place are quite pleasing, especially if you're already in the area. However, the journey from Manali is long and the road conditions are quite poor. Considering the size and scale of the waterfall, it may not justify the effort and time it takes to get there unless you're combining the visit with nearby attractions or are keen to explore remote village life. A good stop for those seeking peace and a rustic Himachali lunch nearby, but manage your expectations if you're heading out solely for the waterfall.

Peaceful Beauty at Jana Waterfall – A Hidden Gem in Kullu-Manali Jana Waterfall is a serene and refreshing spot nestled in the hills near Kullu-Manali. The journey to the waterfall is scenic, surrounded by lush greenery, apple orchards, and charming mountain views. It's a perfect escape from the crowded tourist areas. The waterfall itself may not be very huge, but the natural beauty and calm atmosphere make it totally worth visiting. You can also enjoy delicious Himachali food (like siddu and rajma chawal) at the local dhabas nearby — simple but authentic! It's an amazing place to relax, take photos, and enjoy the local vibe. Best visited during monsoon or early morning hours for the freshest view. Highly recommended if you love peaceful nature and offbeat locations. Would love to visit again!

During our trip to Manikaran in Himachal Pradesh, we had a truly unforgettable experience surrounded by natural beauty and spiritual serenity. The highlight of our visit was the famous Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara, where we were warmly welcomed and served delicious free food, known as Prasad, in the community kitchen (langar). It was heartwarming to see people from all walks of life sitting together and sharing a meal in such a peaceful environment. Just beside the Gurudwara, we marveled at the natural hot springs that are believed to have healing properties. The steam rising from the springs in the cool mountain air created a magical atmosphere. Watching people cook rice and lentils in the hot spring water was both fascinating and unique. The entire experience combined spiritual peace, natural wonder, and human kindness in a way that left a lasting impression on all of us.

Whether you're on a religious journey or just exploring Himachal, don’t miss this sacred and soulful experience.

Hot Water Spring

Hot spring
Nature & Parks
Hot Springs & Geysers
Hot Water Spring, located on the way to Kheerganga, offers a picturesque environment and is popular for its bathing and therapeutic benefits. The springs provide a refreshing break and scenic spots for photography. Another hot water spring at Manikarnika, 45km from Kullu, can be reached by bus or taxi. Situated near the Parvati river bank, these springs emerge along the river over a distance of about 1.3 kms.
After boiling the water, it is poured into the river, which can add some heat during the cold weather in Kasol .

This hot water bathing zone is situated right before Naina bhagwati Mata and is in a covered campus with separate bathing zones for men & women.

It is Famous place to visit the Shiva temple and Hot spring along with Gurudwara Sahib. A Nice place to enjoy some time along with Boiling natural hot water.

This was my first experience with a hot spring and I was pleasantly surprised. It covered a bigger area than what I expected and the water was optimally hot for a bath. One thing about this spring is that the place seems to be neglected and the lighting is downright poor. I would suggest paying a visit to this place during the morning or the afternoon as you will not have to deal with the darkness. Totally worth checking out as there isn't a lot of hot springs in India.

Beautiful place with nice scenery. Mountains all around and the hot water spring is just amazing. Nature is so wonderful that between the chilling snow and super cold weather, you will see boiling hot water coming out of nowhere. Awesome place to visit if you are planning for a trip to Himachal Pradesh.

A beautiful place... Lots of stories to explain the hot water spring! One would be awe of the place once you reach there! Yes it is a tiresome drive but once you reach there you'll forget all about it! It is extremely cold there Visited during the month of March and I was trembling. Make sure you keep yourself warm!

The trek from Kalga to Kheerganga was equally magical. The trail was surrounded by dense forests, and on the way, we crossed two beautiful waterfalls that made perfect spots to take a break and soak in nature. The sound of the flowing water, birds chirping, and fresh mountain air – it was pure therapy.

Kheerganga Trek – A Journey to Nature’s Lap and Inner Peace Kheerganga, tucked deep in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh, is a magical destination that combines adventure, spirituality, and raw Himalayan beauty. Known for its natural hot springs, lush green meadows, and panoramic mountain views, the Kheerganga trek is a must-do experience for trekkers and backpackers visiting the region. The trek begins from Barshaini, a small village around an hour from Kasol. From here, the trail winds through dense pine forests, cascading waterfalls, rustic wooden bridges, and quaint villages like Nakthan and Kalga. The 12 km trek is moderately challenging, with a mix of flat paths and steep ascents, taking about 4–6 hours depending on pace and weather. What makes Kheerganga special isn’t just the destination, but the journey itself. The trail is alive with birdsong, fresh mountain air, and the distant murmur of the Parvati River. On reaching the top, you’re greeted with wide open meadows surrounded by snow-capped peaks and the famed natural hot water spring — a surreal experience at 9,700 feet. A dip in the warm pool, especially after a long trek, feels nothing short of therapeutic. Camping under a starlit sky at Kheerganga adds the final touch to this soulful escape. Whether you’re a nature lover, a spiritual seeker, or just someone looking for an offbeat adventure, Kheerganga is unforgettable.

Around 13 km trek with a lot of beautiful views. There are 2 routes to reach the top, one through the village area and another through the jungle area. Both are beautiful. The only thing of concern is the risk involved like any other trek. The path is narrow at some places which have claimed a few lives as I heard from the villagers. There are water streams and waterfall along the way which is totally mesmerizing.

The kheerganga trek is one of my bestest experience I ever had. At the top the tent rooms are available for stay and the nature is so beautiful at the very top of it. The serenity can't be described but can be felt. The journey throughout the trek and the stay at night surrounding the nature all around is the wonderful experience!!

I recently went on the Kheerganga trek and it was absolutely amazing! The weather was perfect and the scenery was breathtaking. The entire trek was well-planned and well-organized, making it a truly enjoyable experience. The trek itself was challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. The trail was well-marked and the views along the way were absolutely stunning. We passed through lush forests, crossed crystal-clear streams, and saw countless waterfalls along the way. The highlight of the trek, of course, was reaching the top of Kheerganga. The view from the top was simply breathtaking, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We also got to take a dip in the natural hot springs, which was a truly unforgettable experience. Throughout the trek, our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They were always there to offer advice and encouragement, and made sure that we were safe and comfortable at all times. Overall, I would highly recommend the Kheerganga trek to anyone who loves the outdoors and enjoys a good challenge. The scenery is stunning, the trek is well-organized, and the experience is truly unforgettable.

Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the park's natural habitats or relax on wooden and concrete benches scattered throughout.

Visited Van Vihar in Manali during our trip, and it was truly a refreshing experience! 🌲✨ The place is surrounded by tall deodar trees, peaceful walking paths, and the beauty of nature all around. It’s the perfect spot to relax, click some amazing photos, and enjoy the calm vibe away from city noise. The natural scenery is absolutely stunning — a paradise for nature lovers and photographers! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Manali. Don't miss it
Vishal B — Google review
If you want to spend around 2 hours, then it’s a good spot. There are plenty of deodar trees inside, which add to the charm. However, the pond with the boating facility was quite disappointing—it was very small and not well-maintained.
Mokhtar Z — Google review
Located in the heart of the mall road, Van Vihar is a municipality run public garden. It is famous far and wide for its Deodar trees and a manmade lake, built right in the middle of the forest. Overall this place is just ok. There is a provision for boating in a very small pool. There are not much animals available to see here. I have heard from the locals that couple of years back there was a river flowing from this place, but later separated by the government to build some Road. Dipawali finished the real charm of this place. However one time visit is more than enough.
Gourab — Google review
In May 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Van Vihar National Park during my Manali tour. This park is located right in the heart of the town, yet it feels like a peaceful green world of its own. As I entered, I was welcomed by tall deodar and pine trees that formed a natural canopy, giving cool shade even during the summer sun. The walking paths were soft with fallen leaves, and I could hear birds chirping from all directions. It was a real treat for nature lovers like me. I spent time observing the calm and beauty of the forest. I saw Himalayan magpies, bulbuls, and sparrows flying between trees, and heard their pleasant calls. I also noticed small creatures like squirrels jumping from branch to branch, and some monkeys near the lake area. One of the most peaceful spots was the small man-made lake inside the park. The still water reflected the surrounding trees, and I sat quietly on a bench, just enjoying the silence and cool breeze. Boating is also available there, and many tourists were enjoying it with families. The overall experience was very relaxing and close to nature. I felt completely refreshed and connected to the peaceful environment. Van Vihar is a must-visit spot in Manali for anyone who enjoys calm surroundings, greenery, and a little wildlife experience right in the middle of town.

Beautiful nature walk near the chaos of Mall Road, Manali. I entered via gate number 1. Entry ticket is 50 INR for adults and 20 INR for children. Timings are 9 AM to 8 PM (Summers), 9 AM to 5 PM (Winters) I had got clicked at just 100 INR for 4 pictures and pictures were amazing. Do give the photographers a chance to click you, it is up to you to take it but their livelihood depends on it. There is a boating area also downstairs, children park and few places to seat and chill.
Kunal G — Google review
Van Vihar National Park A great place to unwind after shopping on Mall Road. The park has a nice play area with a trampoline for kids, and boating is also available for a fun, relaxing experience. We visited in May and enjoyed the cool, refreshing atmosphere—even during the summer heat. Entry is reasonably priced at ₹50 for adults and ₹20 for children under 8 years. Overall, a peaceful spot perfect for families and nature lovers.

Hadimba Devi Temple is a 16th-century Hindu shrine located in the cedar forest of Old Manali, Himachal Pradesh. Built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh, this wooden temple features intricate carvings and follows a distinct Buddhist pagoda-style architecture. The temple is dedicated to Hadimba, the wife of Pandava Prince Bhima from the Indian epic Mahabharata.
Hidimba Devi Temple, also called Dhungri Temple, was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh and is dedicated to Hidimba Devi, wife of Bhima from the Mahabharata. The temple is made of wood and stone in traditional Himachali architecture, surrounded by cedar forests. It has a unique pagoda-style roof with intricate carvings and no idol of Hidimba—only a footprint on a rock believed to be hers. It’s both a religious site and a major tourist attraction.

Hadimba Devi Temple in Manali is one of the most peaceful and iconic spots in Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by tall cedar (deodar) forests, this 16th-century wooden temple dedicated to Goddess Hadimba — wife of Bhima from the Mahabharata — beautifully blends spirituality with nature. The temple’s unique architecture, with its four-tiered pagoda-style roof and intricately carved wooden doorway, stands out from anything else in the region. The atmosphere is serene and filled with a sense of divine calm, especially in the early morning or evening hours. However, the area can get quite crowded during peak tourist seasons, and the nearby stalls make it feel a bit commercialized — but the charm of the temple and its forest setting easily outshine that. 📍 Location: Old Manali, Himachal Pradesh 🕒 Timings: 8 AM – 6 PM (Open daily) 💡 Tip: Visit early in the morning for quiet surroundings and great photos among the pine woods. A must-visit heritage and spiritual site that captures the essence of old Manali’s beauty and devotion. 🌲🙏

Hadimba Devi Temple, also known as Dhungari Temple, was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh and is dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, the wife of Bhima from the Mahabharata. Nestled in a cedar forest called Dhungiri Van Vihar, the temple is built over a large rock believed to be the deity’s sanctum and showcases stunning pagoda-style Himachali architecture. While the temple’s interiors radiate spiritual calm, photography is strictly prohibited inside, preserving its sanctity. Just outside, the area buzzes with vibrant local life—there’s a serene park perfect for a stroll, and the nearby Khadolkaja Temple adds to the spiritual circuit. For content creators and families alike, the surroundings offer fun and photogenic experiences: you can pose with adorable lambs and rabbits, or dress up in traditional Manali attire for a small fee and capture the essence of Himachali culture. The temple vicinity is also a hotspot for street food lovers, with stalls serving momos, Maggi, and local snacks that make for a flavorful break. Whether you're here for devotion, photography, or cultural immersion, Hadimba Devi Temple and its surroundings offer a rich, multi-sensory experience.

Hidimba Devi Temple is one of the coolest spots to check out in Manali. The temple itself is made of wood and looks really unique compared to the usual temples you see. It’s surrounded by tall cedar trees, which makes the whole place feel calm and refreshing. The vibe is peaceful, and you can easily spend some time just walking around, clicking pictures, and soaking in the natural beauty. It’s not just about the temple — the area around it is lively too, with small shops selling snacks, souvenirs, and local stuff. The atmosphere feels very tourist-friendly, and it’s a nice mix of culture and nature. If you’re in Manali, this is definitely a must-visit spot to experience something different and enjoy the scenic surroundings.

The wooden structure of the temple is very attractive, with nice carvings and a unique pagoda-style roof. It looks different from most temples in India, and that makes it very special. The atmosphere around the temple is quiet and relaxing. Even if there are many visitors, you can still enjoy the natural beauty and peaceful environment. The place is clean, and the fresh mountain air adds to the experience. The path leading to the temple is also very scenic, making the walk enjoyable. There are small shops around the temple where people sell local Himachali clothes, handicrafts, and snacks. You can also take photos in traditional dress, which is a fun experience for tourists. This is a place you shouldn't miss when visiting Manali. This is a religious place along with a hot water spring bath that has separate bathing facilities for men and women. We can do puja here as well and the architecture of the temple looks very nice. However, I need to mention that the place is unclean and no toilets are present nearby. The toilets are far away and dirty, also a place for bathing is not very isolated.

Solang Nala, a popular winter ski resort nestled in a picturesque mountain valley with an elevation of 8400 ft, offers breathtaking natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as skiing and sightseeing. However, the area can get crowded, affecting the overall experience. Despite this, it remains a great place for first-time snow experiences and exploring snowy landscapes. The scenic beauty includes stunning mountains, water streams, and occasional snowfall.
Review of Solang Valley: An Adventure Lover’s Paradise Solang Valley, located just a short drive from Manali, is a breathtaking destination that offers a wide range of activities for all types of travelers, especially adventure enthusiasts. I recently visited the valley, and it left a lasting impression on me with its stunning beauty and the variety of thrilling activities on offer. Summer Activities: During the summer months, Solang Valley transforms into an adventure playground. Here’s a glimpse of some of the activities that you can enjoy: 1. Paragliding: Soaring through the skies with a bird’s eye view of the lush valley below was an unforgettable experience. There are options for both short and high-fly flights. I opted for the high-fly, and it was worth every penny. It gives you a panoramic view of the entire valley and surrounding mountains. 2. ATV Rides: If you enjoy speed and a bit of off-road adventure, ATV rides are available throughout the valley. It’s an exciting way to explore the rugged terrain and feel the wind rush past as you navigate the bumpy trails. 3. Zipline: If you love heights and adrenaline, ziplining across the valley is a must-try. It offers a thrilling ride with stunning views of the forested hills and river below. 4. Zorbing Ball: This is a fun and unique activity where you are placed inside a giant transparent ball and rolled down a gentle hill. It’s a great option for those looking for a laugh-filled adventure with friends or family. 5. Giant Swing: Another adrenaline-pumping activity is the giant swing, which offers a massive pendulum-like swing across the valley. The initial drop is enough to give anyone an instant rush! 6. River Crossing: For those who enjoy water-based activities, river crossing on ropes across a fast-flowing stream is a fantastic experience that tests your balance and courage. Winter Wonderland: Solang Valley is equally captivating in the winter, when the entire region is blanketed in snow. During this time, it turns into a winter sports haven: 1. Skiing: The slopes of Solang Valley are perfect for both beginners and seasoned skiers. Skiing instructors are available to guide you, and there are slopes for all skill levels. The sight of people skiing down the snowy slopes is truly mesmerizing. 2. Skido Ride: If you want to experience the thrill of riding through the snow at high speed, hop onto a skido (snow scooter) and zoom across the valley. It’s one of the best ways to explore the snow-covered landscapes. 3. Snowboarding: Similar to skiing, snowboarding is also a popular winter activity here. Solang’s gentle slopes are ideal for snowboarders to glide down effortlessly. 4. Tube Ride: For a fun and relaxed experience, the tube ride offers a simple yet exciting way to enjoy the snow. You sit in an inflatable tube and slide down a snow-covered hill. It’s a fantastic family-friendly activity. Conclusion: Whether you’re visiting during the summer for an adrenaline-filled adventure or in the winter for snow sports, Solang Valley has something for everyone. The scenic beauty of the valley, combined with its array of activities, makes it a must-visit destination for adventure lovers. I recommend setting aside a full day to explore all that it has to offer. Whether you’re flying high in the sky or speeding across the snow, Solang Valley promises an unforgettable experience!

Solang valley is very beautiful. I would love to visit there again and again. Its natural beauty refreshes one's mind and keeps away from negativity. Everything was fantastic as I visited there with my family and every single moment we enjoyed alot. The only thing that annoyed us was while doing skiing ⛷🎿 the skiing masters or guides pull u from back and doesn't allow u to do. They charge high just for 5mins. That particular area gets crowded and u can't do freely. Though the Experience was very nice. Never fall in the trap of all those vendors selling Kesar as all these are fake. Hope you guys enjoy.

Rohtang La, a renowned mountain pass in the Himalayas, is a popular destination for both hikers and drivers. The pass offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape but can be dangerous during certain weather conditions. However, travelers can opt for the safer Atal Tunnel route to minimize accidents and ensure a smoother journey. This tunnel's construction involved cutting-edge engineering techniques and state-of-the-art technology to overcome challenging geological conditions at high altitudes.
That's an amazing place, scenic beauty in Himachal. Sooooo cold out there. Excellent place to visit with your family. Day time you find food shops there, but after the sunset this place becomes lonely,no people found due to cold. We reached their by rented car. Excellent, amazing place to visit but may be old people can suffer from cold. Otherwise spectacular place.

Rohtang La, or Rohtang Pass, is a high mountain pass situated at an elevation of 3,978 meters (13,058 ft) on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. Located about 51 kilometers from Manali, it's a vital link between the Kullu Valley and the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys, although the newly constructed Atal Tunnel has now provided an all-weather alternative. Despite this, Rohtang remains a primary tourist magnet, known for its stunning landscapes, adventurous spirit, and the promise of snow throughout the year. The drive to Rohtang Pass is an experience in itself. The winding roads, with their treacherous hairpin bends, offer breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, gushing waterfalls, and lush green meadows. The landscape undergoes a dramatic change as you ascend, transforming from the forested, verdant slopes of the Kullu Valley to a stark, rugged, and snow-laden terrain. This contrast is what makes the journey so memorable. At the pass, a world of adventure awaits. In the months of May and June, when the pass reopens after the long winter, it's a snowy wonderland. This is the peak season for tourists, who flock here to enjoy a variety of snow-based activities. From thrilling snow scooter rides to exhilarating sledging and skiing, there's no shortage of fun to be had. Even a simple snowball fight against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayas is enough to create lasting memories. For those who visit in the post-monsoon season (September and October), the scenery changes but the beauty remains. The snow recedes, revealing the raw, rocky terrain and the vibrant colors of the valley. This is a great time for photography, trekking, and simply soaking in the crisp, clean mountain air without the massive crowds of the summer months. It's important to note that a trip to Rohtang La requires careful planning. Due to its eco-sensitive nature and to manage traffic, a limited number of permits are issued daily for vehicles to cross the pass. These permits must be obtained in advance. Visitors should also be prepared for the high altitude by acclimatizing in Manali for a day or two to avoid altitude sickness. Layered clothing is a must, as the weather can change suddenly, even in the summer. In conclusion, Rohtang La is more than just a destination; it's a journey into the heart of the Himalayas. It offers a unique blend of natural beauty, thrilling activities, and a sense of awe-inspiring grandeur that leaves a profound and lasting impression.

The beauty of Rohtang La in a sunny day with blue sky mesmerizing. One can enjoy the beautiful view of glaciers, wonderful landscape and frequent snowfall. Tourists can enjoy different sports activity like skiing, sledging, paragliding etc. Travelers should carry sufficient warm clothes, footwear, hand gloves etc or can be hired from the locals. Always bargain. Be careful about high altitude mountain sickness, carry emergency medicines.

Visiting Rohtang Pass was an unforgettable experience, truly the crown jewel of any trip to Manali. Situated at around 13,000 feet above sea level, this high mountain pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of the snow covered peaks, glaciers, and winding valleys that feel straight out of a postcard. From the moment we began the journey up, the scenery was magical pine forests, waterfalls, and misty cliffs lined the road. The drive itself is an adventure, and the recently built Atal Tunnel makes access smoother even during winter. Once you reach the top, it feels like you’ve stepped into another world. The cold, crisp air, the thick white snow, and the silence of the mountains create a peaceful yet inspiring atmosphere. We had so much fun engaging in snow activities like skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. There are also local vendors who offer warm clothing rentals, snacks, and hot tea right on the pass. Be sure to sip a cup of chai while soaking in the views.it's one of those small pleasures that stay with you forever. Photography lovers will be in heaven .every corner is a perfect frame. The contrast of the blue sky against the white snow, with yaks and ponies in the background, adds a surreal touch to the whole experience.

Rohtang La Pass is absolutely breathtaking! The snow-covered peaks and panoramic views make it a must-visit spot in Himachal. However, the weather can be quite harsh. Ice is thick at this time of the year, so make sure to carry a winter jacket, gloves, and waterproof boots. The roads are steep but scenic, and it’s worth every bit of the journey!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. MUST VISIT. Rohtang La, high in the Pir Panjal range of Himachal Pradesh, is a place where nature truly shows its grandest face. At over 13,000 feet, it is both a gateway and a destination—a mountain pass that connects Manali with the remote valleys of Lahaul and Spiti, yet feels like it belongs to another world entirely. The journey up to Rohtang is nothing short of spectacular. Winding roads carve through steep mountainsides, revealing snow-draped peaks that seem to touch the heavens. The air changes as you climb—cooler, fresher, tinged with that unmistakable scent of high-altitude snow. Even in summer, patches of white cling to the slopes, a reminder that here, winter never truly leaves. The gentle yet constant mountain wind carries a mix of chill and freshness that feels both invigorating and calming. Standing at the top, you are greeted by a panorama of mountains upon mountains—rolling green valleys below, and endless layers of snow-capped giants ahead. The wind here is playful yet strong, brushing your face with icy freshness that awakens every sense. The light shifts quickly; clouds drift in and out, sometimes wrapping the peaks in mist, sometimes parting to reveal deep blue skies. The air is never heavy—humidity is low, making every breath crisp and clean. It’s a place where you can stand for hours, simply listening to the whistle of the wind and the quiet crackle of snow underfoot. Whether you come for adventure—skiing, snow biking, trekking—or simply to feel the thrill of standing so high above the world, Rohtang La leaves you with a sense of peace and awe. It’s not just a destination; it’s an embrace from the mountains, a moment when time slows, and the beauty around you becomes all that matters.

Rohtang La felt like stepping into another world. Snow all around, quiet mountains, and a chilly wind that makes you feel alive. One of the most beautiful and peaceful places I’ve ever seen. A memory I’ll carry forever. 🤍🏔️

This is really a good place to visit at the mountain top. At prak season anyone can experience a fully snow covered area of the total locality along with roads as well. This is also known as Rohtang pass ( The Rohtang La). It is around 51 kms away from Manali city. But the area is kept closed for viaitor upto mid June due to heavy low temperature and ice blocking of the roads. Best time to enjoy this is end of June to july.

Chandrataal is a lake located in lahual and spiti district of himachal pradesh. It is 50km drive from Manali. Chandrataal is open during the months of may to October and remaining time it is closed. The entry fee for lake is 150 rupee per person and the lake the entry to the lake closes at 5pm in evening. The lake is very deep and restricted to go inside it. It is a clear water lake. The lake is very beautiful and amazing .From parking u have to walk around 1km to reach the lake. The height of the lake is 14100 ft(4300m).During springtime, these meadows are carpeted with hundreds of varieties of wild flowers. In 1871, Harcourt, Assistant Commissioner of Kullu, reported that there was a plain of good grass to the north of Chadra Taal, where shepherds brought large herds for grazing from Kullu and Kangra.Migratory species such as the Ruddy shelduck are found in summer. This place is also renowned for its mythical significance, particularly as the place where Lord Indra descended in his chariot to take Yudhishthira to heaven in the epic Mahabharata.

A lifetime experience. People have to walk about 1 to 2 km from the parking ground to the main Lake . Those who are weak should carry necessary precautions as the oxygen level is really low here. We relied upon Coca 30, and successfully had the trek. Per head ticket is Rs 150

Chandratal is pure adventure. At this high altitude, the road winds across barren plateau landscapes with peaks still wrapped in snow. The lake itself, shaped like a crescent, feels no less than heaven. Nights get freezing, so keep warm clothes handy — the temperature drops fast. Standing there, you feel as if a divine chariot once passed through these valleys.
Tanvir M — Google review
Chandratal, often called the “Lake of the Moon,” is one of the most enchanting high-altitude lakes in Himachal Pradesh, situated at about 4,300 meters in the Spiti Valley. Reaching the lake itself is an adventure, as the drive from Manali via Rohtang and Batal, or from Kaza, takes you through rugged roads, dramatic valleys, and snow-capped Himalayan peaks. The moment you arrive, the sight is surreal—crystal-clear blue water surrounded by barren mountains on one side and lush green meadows on the other. The water reflects the sky so vividly that it changes shades from turquoise to emerald, depending on the sunlight. The lake area is peaceful, with almost zero noise except for the crisp Himalayan wind and occasional bird calls. Camping near Chandratal is a highlight for many travelers, as nights reveal a sky full of countless stars and the Milky Way in all its glory. The trek from the parking area to the lake is short but rewarding, offering panoramic views at every step. While oxygen levels can feel thin, the breathtaking beauty makes the effort worthwhile. Overall, Chandratal is a magical destination that combines raw nature, serenity, and adventure—truly a gem of the Himalayas.

Suraj Tal is the third highest lake in India and 21st highest in the world located at height of 4883 metres and It is no doubt one of the best lakes I have ever seen in my lifetime. I first visited this place around 15 yrs ago, back then it was fully frozen. Right now it's partially frozen and one can't go inside the lake. We can see it from the road above and the view is heavenly. It's usually very cold here even in summers and would recommend carrying a jacket and wearing a cap.

All were very sad after seeing the Rohtang Pass clear mountains with blackish pollution without any snow anywhere as expecting snowwhite bed in area, it seems like dry desert of mountains only. But after visiting the picturesque views of Suraj Tal and breathtaking highly speed winds on the spot encouraged us to go ahead with more kilometers and finally reached at Sarchu. amazing views in and around the valley on the way between Keylong to Sarchu with only single snacks point and rest space for especially for bikers.

Magical place and extraordinarily beautiful. The village is too small and extremely peaceful like any other villages in Ladakh. It is a large, beautiful salt lake in Ladakh. It is about 15,000 feet above sea level. It is not as beautiful as Pangong Tso or Tso Moriri. Because there is no high view point to view the entire lake or a large part of the lake as a whole. We only get a close side view of the lake. So we cannot see the beautiful color of water in detail. But the grasslands and barren hills around the lake make the lake very beautiful. The salt crystals on the shore in white colour give it a different sight from other lakes in Ladakh. And the lake becomes a feast for the eyes.

[visited in September] Located at an altitude of about 5,328 meters, Tanglang La is one of the highest motorable passes in the world. As you approach Tanglang La, the landscape slowly changes into a desolate, almost surreal world. The mountains are barren, the green is becoming more and more sparse, and the rocks turn into shades of grey, beige and copper. The road winds uphill, with sharp hairpin bends and views that become more and more impressive. At the top, there are prayer flags fluttering in the wind, a colorful and spiritual addition to the rugged environment. Tanglang La is one of those places that leaves a deep impression; it is a journey through nature, but also an inner experience in which you fully feel the power and serenity of the Himalayan mountains.

I visited Tanglang La on July 9, 2024. Situated on the route from Leh to Manali, Tanglang La is one of the highest motorable passes in the world, reaching an altitude of approximately 5,328 meters (17,480 feet). The pass offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges and valleys. The road to Tanglang La is rugged and can be challenging due to its high altitude and weather conditions. However, the journey is well worth it for the stunning vistas and the sense of achievement in crossing such a high pass. It’s a must-visit for those seeking adventure and a taste of Ladakh’s dramatic landscape.

Long way to go. Palace is a hotel. Museum is not so interesting. We went there there was a small room where you can have tea coffee juice no food. I asked few people who was coming out as I went in a d their opinion was emm. Not all that. The charges are 80 rupees more than others. Looks like name has changed to Stock Musuem and not palace.

Stok Museum is a small museum located inside the historic Stok Palace in Ladakh. It displays a fascinating collection of royal artifacts from the Namgyal dynasty, which once ruled Ladakh. The palace itself is still the summer home of the current Ladakhi royal family. Royal artifacts: The museum exhibits ceremonial clothing, crowns, and a spectacular headpiece adorned with turquoise and other precious stones. Thangka paintings: Visitors can see intricate thangka paintings, some of which are very old. Buddhist art and literature: The collection includes Buddhist art and a library with 108 volumes of the Kangyur, the sacred teachings of Lord Buddha. History of the Namgyal dynasty: The museum provides insight into the history and royal culture of the dynasty that ruled from the palace for centuries. Location: The palace is located in the village of Stok, about 17 km from Leh. Timings: The museum is generally open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, with a lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Highlights: In addition to the museum, the palace offers stunning views of the surrounding valley and mountains.

The village is situated roughly 17 km from Leh city, the palace is the first noticable piece of art in the village apart from the newly built statue of Buddha, the palace stands tall and testament of the history of Ladakh.

Its architecture is very similar to Potala Palace of Lhasa and a wonderful example of medieval Ladakhi art. Today, the Leh Palace is considered an important part of Ladakh history

Beautiful palace located just outside of the Leh city, with amazing views of Leh and the surrounding areas. It's the current residence of the ex-royal family and also a heritage hotel. Only the lower floors, where the museum is located, are open to public. The museum is ok and holds many historical artifacts from the royal family and other places in Ladakh. There's a small restaurant and a cafe. It feels nice to just sit at the cafe and take in the view. Avoid going here around 1 PM because it's their lunch time and they won't let you in.

Thiksey Monastery, situated about 20 km from Leh, is the largest monastery in Ladakh. Built in the mid-1400s, it features temples, a nunnery, and an array of Buddhist art including various Buddha statues. The monastery offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Visitors can explore the colorful complex with informative placards providing details about the Wheel of Life.
Thiksey Monastery is a must-visit in Ladakh, often called the “mini Potala Palace.” It offers breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and a stunning 49-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha. The morning prayers and ancient murals add to its charm. Truly a serene and spiritual experience.

If you only have time to visit one place in the Leh Valley, or even just one monastery while here, then choose Thiksey. It is the most incredible, otherworldly place I’ve ever been. The views across the valley to the high Himalaya and the outside architecture are only the beginning. Highly recommend arriving for morning Puja which starts around 6am and can last until 9am. The prayers start with the sounding of enormous horns across the valley, something that has to be experienced to be understood. The monks are happy to chat and the younger monks in training are particularly keen to hear about where you’re from and what you think of their home. Truly a priceless experience.

I recently visited Thiksey Monastery in Ladakh and absolutely loved it! The place is super peaceful and the views from the top are just mind-blowing. The Tibetan-style architecture is beautiful and the calm atmosphere makes it a perfect spot to just sit and soak in the vibes. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Ladakh!

Thiksey Monastery is absolutely beautiful! The walk upstairs is serene and offers stunning views at every step. The peaceful atmosphere, intricate architecture, and the calmness around make it a must-visit spot in Leh. Truly a place that fills you with a sense of peace and wonder.

Thiksey Monastery truly takes your breath away. Built on a hilltop, it looks majestic from a distance, and even more mesmerizing up close. The morning prayers with the monks are a deeply spiritual experience — peaceful chants echoing as the sun rises over the valley. The views are incredible, and the giant Maitreya Buddha statue inside is awe-inspiring. A visit here feels grounding and serene — a must-see in Leh.

While coming back from Pangong Lake to Leh this was our first sightseeing. We also had Ranchos school in the list but unfortunately it was closed due to then ongoing protest. This monastery was open and we went and enjoyed the lovely architecture of this place. Situated at a hill top the view from this place is amazing. There are many temples here actually so you have to visit one by one. One temple had the big buddha statue which was my favourite spot. Very peaceful and calm place. You can surely visit here on your way back to Leh.

Visited the monastery on a rainy day. ⛩️ The view of the hill was getting mesmerizing with every step. The mural painting was outstanding! 🌟 Came to know about the Shri Devi Temple which is at the top. In the temple no women were allowed to enter except the family-women of the Ladakh Queen and the Queen herself. Visit & Enjoy! ⛩️

Buddhist temples and monastery Vehicles go till the gate, then it's a climb till the top- begins with a road and then stairs all the way. Accessibility might be an issue for specially abled. There are different temples once you reach the top, take your time to explore and take in the views of Leh. Worth a visit if you enjoy Buddhist temples, can skip if you have already seen similar places before.

Visiting the confluence of the Hindu and Zanskar, reverse was an awe-inspiring experience!!! Beautiful place while you are doing local tour of Leh. The colours of two rivers meeting can be seen clearly. There are river rafting facilities available as well, make sure to carry spare clothes. You can also go near the river and spend time if the weather is favourable. The water is chilling cold.

Beautiful to see the river where my ancestors would have have drunk water and revered the Sindhu river. It meets the river Zanskar at this point so it’s beautiful and worth spending quiet moments there.
Vipul M — Google review
The confluence of River Indus and Zanskar is an awsome view. The place is commonly known as Sangam. One can see the beautiful confluence from Top or can do down, alongside river to see the two coloured water. The water of river Zanskar is blue green whereas the water of Indus river is bit muddy. The Sangam point has one restaurant (only this was open when we visited) where one can get to eat or book for rafting trip in river Zanskar. The place however has horrible washroom facility. These are basically closed small rooms with a hole on floor. Rafting trip can be taken for 8km (₹900/-), 16 km (₹1800) and 24km. The rafting trip of 8km is suitable for families with kids, as no one gets wet and you boat in still water. The trip of 16km and 24 km are for people looking for adventure. For additional ₹200/- transportation facility till the starting point of rafting can be taken. Since if you drive to the starting point and park your vehicle there, you end up rafting at Sangam point, then you will have ro go back to take your vehicle. If you have hired a taxi, they will also charge you extra to go till starting point. Wet suit and shoes or crocs are provided for the trip of 16km and 24km. Its better to take the trip in sunny weather as the water is really cold plus the wind makes it more cold. You can also bargain a bit depending season or number of tourist.
Jijo A — Google review
A truly magical place to see. You can clearly see the 2 rivers meeting each other and eventually flowing as one. There is snacks and coffee available next to this place. Also one can go for river rafting here where they will take you rafting on the sangam point. Things to consider before going for river rafting is the temperature of the water and if there is any heavy flow to the river which will make the rafting enjoyable. A must visit place.

Good tourist destination, one can witness the confluence of two rivers Indus and Zanskar. It's similar to that of Sangam in prayagraj i.e. the confluence of Ganga, Jamuna, Saraswati. It's a good place for photo sessions. One can capture various backgrounds.

No one should miss this nature’s marvel while in Leh/Ladakh region. The views are spectacular with clear line of merging water from both the rivers. Don’t miss the top views from the scenic spot at the highway before arriving down to the confluence spot.

Magnetic Hill is a historical site in Leh Ladakh valley, known for its unique natural phenomenon where cars and water appear to move uphill against gravity. The location has gained popularity as a tourist attraction for those seeking to experience this inexplicable wonder. However, some have noted that the area's charm has been diminished due to the presence of small structures like cafeterias.
While the magic of the Magnetic Hill is an optical illusion, it has not stopped the creation of myths and lore about this phenomenon. This is more folklore than theory; the locals hold belief that a path to heaven once existed here.A common myth suggests that there is a magnetic anomaly or powerful magnetic field present at Magnetic Hill, which is responsible for the strange phenomenon. This belief is often fueled by the name "Magnetic Hill" itself, which implies a connection to magnetism. Some believe that the hill is a place of spiritual significance, where the laws of physics are suspended, and the boundary between the earthly and the supernatural is blurred. They believed that not everyone could experience this magic, only those deserving of heaven could. Some legends claim that Magnetic Hill was once home to an ancient civilization with advanced technology. According to these stories, the people of this civilization possessed knowledge of magnetic forces that allowed them to build structures and vehicles that could defy gravity. While these myths and legends add to the allure of Magnetic Hill, the scientific explanation behind the phenomenon is rooted in the principles of physics and optics. Nonetheless, these stories continue to be passed down through generations, adding to the mystique and magic of this natural wonder. It is said that there is a mysterious magnetic force emanating from the hill that pulls stationary vehicles within its range and makes them move uphill, though some contests that it is a mere optical illusion. The strange occurrence has been experienced and testified by travellers from all across the world. The Indus River flowing to the east of Magnetic Hill makes the surroundings a picture-perfect frame.Magnetic hill that is believed to defy gravity is located at a distance of 30km(s) from Leh on the Leh-Kargil Highway. Visited Magnetic Hill today — the so-called spot where your car is supposed to move uphill on its own, defying gravity. Like most people, I was curious and a bit excited to finally see this “anti-gravity” phenomenon that Leh is known for. But to be honest, it was underwhelming. We parked exactly on the marked spot, followed the instructions, and waited. Nothing. No mysterious pull, no uphill movement. Tried shifting into neutral, waited again — still nothing. Other vehicles around us seemed to have the same experience. I’d heard earlier that it was an optical illusion — that the layout of the surrounding hills creates a false sense of slope, making a downhill road appear to be uphill. And maybe once upon a time, that illusion did work. But now, with newly tarred roads, clearer surroundings, and our phone GPS showing actual elevation, the trick just doesn’t land anymore. You can actually see with the naked eye that the road slightly slopes downhill — so the mystery kind of dissolves. The location itself is scenic, no doubt. Vast open plains, dusty mountains, and the endless sky make for a great photo stop. But if you’re expecting some magnetic marvel — manage your expectations.
Utkersh B — Google review
I don’t see the magic everyone hyped for. Its a marked place by some people. Yes once your car engine put off, it gets moved, but it’s because of slope.

Visited July 19 2025 – Day 16 in India We spent a lovely afternoon at Magnetic Hill about 30 kilometers from Leh guided by our wonderful tour guide Angmo. She brought the place to life with her deep knowledge and warm storytelling. Though we did not notice any magnetic pull ourselves the experience was delightful and our two little girls ages 5 and 7 absolutely loved it. Magnetic Hill is a curious stretch of road locally famous as a gravity hill where vehicles parked in neutral appear to drift uphill defying logic. Many visitors believe in an unseen magnetic force while others explain it as an optical illusion shaped by the landscape and obstructed horizon. Mountains rising around the road trick the eye into misjudging the slope. Despite the science the legend of a road to heaven whispered by locals adds a layer of mystic charm. Angmo encouraged us to park the vehicle in a painted box on the road and though nothing dramatic occurred we took many photos capturing wide Himalayan panoramas and our girls giggling in wonder. The barren hills framed by distant snowy peaks and the flowing Indus River nearby offered a serene almost spiritual backdrop. Magnetic Hill holds significance as one of Ladakh’s most talked about roadside attractions. It is not just about whether the physics defy gravity it is about being in a striking high altitude landscape witnessing how perception and legend intertwine. The sense of mystery even subtle lingers in your memory long after you have continued driving along the Leh to Kargil road. Angmo’s gentle guidance enthusiasm and patience with our children made it even more special. She explained the theories shared stories of local folklore answered our endless questions and helped us feel connected to the land and its history. Although we did not feel our car being pulled upward what we experienced was far richer — the beauty of remote Ladakh framed by a whimsical myth joyful children exploring nature’s quirks and a guide who cared about our comfort and curiosity. I happily give Magnetic Hill four stars. It is a place where the landscape surprises you and stories unfold. With Angmo’s help it became a memory our family will cherish — a perfect blend of scenery intrigue and heartfelt guidance.

I visited Magnetic Hills last week while on a trip to Ladakh with my dad. On our second day in Leh, we rented a bike specifically to visit this spot since so many people had recommended it. Unfortunately, the actual destination turned out to be extremely underwhelming. It’s basically just a spot marked in the middle of a busy highway where you’re expected to stop your vehicle and “see the magic” — which, as it turns out, is just an optical illusion. No one told us it only works with four-wheelers, so being on a bike, we didn’t experience anything at all. The highway was bustling with fast-moving vehicles, yet ironically, no one was actually around at the Magnetic Hill spot. There’s an ATV, Viking ride, and zip-lining area set up on one side, but all of it was shut when we visited. So, after a long ride to get there, we ended up seeing… pretty much nothing. That said, I’m still giving this place 3 stars purely because the drive was stunning. The roads are beautifully maintained, and the landscape is absolutely gorgeous — that part made it worth it. We were stopped twice for an inner line permit check (which we had already arranged online), so just a heads-up if you’re planning to head that way. One local guy we met there told us that years ago, if you placed a compass on the marked spot, it wouldn’t point in any direction — but he said that doesn’t really happen anymore. I’m not sure how much of that is true, but it kind of sums up the vibe: cool in theory, not much in practice. Overall: a lovely drive, but unless you have loads of time and just want to be somewhere quiet, I wouldn’t recommend making Magnetic Hills a priority
Marium J — Google review
Magnetic hills are 30 mins away from Leh city and you can find it on the way to Indus-Zanskar ricer confluence point. The myth here is that bike or car automatically moves due to higher gravity but its only an optical illusion. However, you get amazing photos here if no one are around because its a straight road in the middle of the mountains. You can also do ATV ride nearby. It can also be a good pitstop as there are some eateries around.
Srikanth R — Google review
It's a neat and clean place and, the road is well built, the mountain background gives it a very romantic look. However the magnetic hill phenomena is a farce, the road is naturally going downhill and any stationery vehicle will start moving if brakes are not applied. Anyway because of magnetic hill propaganda it has become a nice tourist place.
Rajesh S — Google review
“Mind‑bending illusion and scenic stop on the Leh highway!” Magnetic Hill is a must‑stop on the Srinagar–Leh route, about 26 km west of Leh. You park in neutral at the marked box—and the vehicle appears to roll uphill, seemingly defying gravity. 🚗✨ It’s not mystic magnetism but a clever optical illusion caused by the layout of the surrounding terrain . Why it’s worth it A fun experience that sparks curiosity—great for all ages and surprisingly smooth to share with family Beautiful backdrop: rugged Himalayan peaks and the Indus River nearby Free and accessible all summer, with clear signage and easy parking

The Hall of Fame in Leh, run by the Indian Army, is a museum and war memorial that showcases a collection of weapons and historical exhibits. Additionally, it stands as an important landmark in the old town and offers visitors the opportunity to engage in a clockwise walk around ancient stupas, providing a unique cultural experience.
My experience at the Hall of Fame in Leh, Ladakh, was enriching and patriotic. The museum showcases the history of the Indian army's victories, particularly in the Kargil War, and honors gallantry award winners. The exhibits are well-curated, and the light and sound show is a compelling tribute to the armed forces. The war memorial and stories of soldiers' sacrifices evoke strong patriotic feelings. With an entry fee of ₹230, it's a worthwhile visit, especially for Indians traveling to Leh. Overall, the Hall of Fame is a must-visit destination that pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers.

We visited the Hall of Fame on 13th September 2025. The place was quite crowded, and the entry ticket was ₹125 per person, which also included a small souvenir. I had read about the evening light and sound show, but unfortunately, I couldn’t attend it this time. On arrival, we were warmly received by ex-army personnel, who, along with others, guided us through the memorial. The tour began with an introduction to the Kargil War, followed by a display of weapons captured by the Indian Army from the enemy during the conflict. These exhibits are open for visitors to see up close. There is also a dedicated section showcasing the culture, food, and traditions of Ladakh, which adds a local touch to the experience. Another section covers the Siachen War in detail, highlighting the extreme conditions and sacrifices of our soldiers. The way the army personnel narrated the stories was truly energetic and inspiring, making us deeply appreciate the courage and sacrifices of our armed forces. Listening to these real-life accounts of bravery leaves you feeling charged with pride and respect. A must-visit place in Leh for anyone who wants to understand the valor of our soldiers and the spirit of Ladakh.

Visited July 22 and 23, 2025 – Days 19 & 20 in India Our journey from Nubra Valley toward Pangong Lake and later returning to Leh via Chang La was every bit as thrilling as it sounds. With our driver Hadi expertly navigating the curving switchbacks and steep gradients of this high mountain pass, it felt like riding the spine of the Himalayas. The drive was at once terrifying and exhilarating. We were climbing to over 17,500 feet—thin air, jagged cliffs, snow patches, and icy slush made every turn heart‑pounding. The road was as stunning as it was unforgiving: bumpy, rocky stretches alternated with smoother blacktop, and occasional washouts or sand patches meant Hadi had to keep us steady through it all. Meanwhile my daughters, five and seven, were blissfully unaware. Most of the way they slept curled up on my lap, oblivious to the massive peaks, the breaths we held, and the yaks grazing by the roadside below. But even in sleep they stirred with joy at sudden views of snow‑dusted ridges and snow-covered glaciers shining in the sunlight. We saw many yaks standing like silent sentinels amid the barren landscape. Army‑run tea stalls at the summit offered piping hot beverages and a much‑needed warmth in freezing air that could bite even in July. This was definitely a five‑star experience—equal parts awe‑inspiring scenery, adrenaline rush, and peaceful high‑altitude magic. Highly recommend it if you love breathtaking drives that test your nerves and leave you feeling alive.

When I visited LAMO, there was a really interesting exhibition with photographs of Ladakh from the 20th century. I understand that they have regular events and film screenings especially in the summer, so it may be a good idea to watch out for what's happening in the place when one is in Leh. Given its location, there are also gorgeous views of the Leh palace and old town. I also used their publication "Walks in Nubra" when I was in Sumur - the quieter side of Nubra valley. Found it very useful to explore and understand the history and villages of Nubra better. Highly recommend visiting LAMO if you are in Leh.

LAMO centre in the old town of Leh consists of two houses of Munshi and Gyaoo families. These are some of the best remaining examples of domestic vernacular architecture of the 17th Century. Munshi house was the residence of Togoche family who served as secretary in the Ladakhi court. Gyaoo house was the residence of upper rank of court artisans who performed for the king. Both the houses have been restored by LAMO (The Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation) and converted to an arts space with galleries, offices, a library and reading room, screening room, conference room, and open-air performance site

Getting here on foot is a challenge but takes you right through the old town. The sign posted route takes you almost up to the palace. A very nice serious lady took me around the place as there was none else. Some interesting art from local artists in a beautifully restored house of some courtiers. Wonderfully cool even during the hot summer afternoon. ₹100 donation to enter. If you return through the old town you'll find yourself right next to the Central Asian museum which is a great place to recover after the walk.

Two traditional houses are preserved as an art center high in Old Town Leh. The interiors are worth seeing in themselves, plus there's likely a cultural exhibition on. Special presentations take place occasionally. Good views of Leh from the terraces. 100 inr admission. It's a bit difficult to find, but the winding paths are fascinating.

Perched majestically atop a mountain, the Leh Palace, or Lhachen Palkhar, is a stunning historical landmark in the enchanting town of Leh, nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir. Constructed in the 17th century under King Sengge Namgyal's reign, this former royal residence boasts nine stories and was designed to mirror the grandeur of Tibet’s Potala Palace.
We visited Leh Palace during our family trip, and it was a great experience. The palace is old and beautiful, with amazing views of the mountains and the city below. It felt like stepping back in time. The walk up to the palace is all by stairs, but it was worth it. Be aware for someone in wheelchair. Inside, we saw old paintings, wooden windows, and traditional rooms. There's also an exhibition room, and theatre room for film projection about the history of the venue. It was a peaceful and special place to visit. Took many nice photos. A must-see in Leh!

Leh place is an absolutely beautiful tourist spot ageing to old ancient 16th century built up. This place has entry fees. This building has 9 floors and goes in a trapezium shape so that base is able to take the weight of the upper floors. This palace is a enginnering marvel of ancient times. Doors are situated on East as per Tibetan norms. Every floor has quite a number of rooms and are quite spacious. Rooms decreases as we go up and 9th floor has only one room. Situated at a hill top this palace gives a perfect view of the Leh city overall which looks mesmerizing. Must visit if you are in Leh.

Situated in the heart of the city and near to Leh market. Good views from the balconies of the palace and the roof. Walk 50 meters from the parking ,Steep steps to climb, not for old age people and the children who needs to be carried. Entry ticket is minimal, amongst the palaces if one has to choose to see only one,I would suggest Shey palace. Nice temples and magnificent view from the too of Shey palace .

The palace was good, you get the best view of Leh city. The entry ticket is just ₹25/- per person but keep it mind that it has alot of stairs and if we got to see any artifact in the palace that will be cherry on top. The palace was empty. Must visit at the time of sunset, you'll love it

Majestic palace built on a hill. It’s a 9 story palace which you’ll only know if you visit it. Architecture is amazing. The view from top is the best!

Historical 17th century palace offering stunning views of Leh and surroundings. Entrance fee for foreigners is 300 rupees - the highest fee I've paid in Ladakh. Although the palace looks big, only 4 rooms are open to the public, three of them holding photography/video exhibitions of the area, plus the private royal shrine. The palace has however habilitated three terraces at the top to see the view. I was a bit disappointed by the restoration work done in the few areas open to the public, looked a bit modern, but perhaps reinforcing the corridors with concrete was necessary for structural safety. The walk up the palace is also stunning.

Leh Palace offers a stunning aerial view of Leh town, nestled amidst rugged mountains. This 9-storey historic structure echoes tales of Ladakhi kingdoms. Its ancient Tibetan-style architecture intrigues visitors. renovations are ongoing A visit promises rich history.
