Klimapark 2469, also known as Climate stop, is an open-air enterprise park that focuses on the history of climate, hunting, and trapping. Visitors can learn about climate change and permafrost through guided tours in English and Norwegian. The park offers a unique experience with informative guides who provide competent answers to all questions. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to explore an ice cave and witness impressive glaciers.
Absolutely impressive area that at first glance resembles a lunar landscape. At second glance, you can discover a lot here at an altitude of 1,860 m. We had booked the 12:00 tour to the ice tunnel. The tour is great! On the approximately 1km long path to the ice tunnel, our guide Emma made several stops and told us the history and importance of the climate park with a lot of charm and enthusiasm. What the measuring stations do, which plants live at this altitude, how the soils are brought to life and why this is possible. The tour and the ice tunnel are a very special experience. There is enough time to look around and enjoy, what might be not possible anymore in just a few years. The tour is well suited for older children. We were here with our 6 year old. With a lot of motivation from us, it worked quite well, but since she doesn't speak English and it was raining a bit, the initial enthusiasm quickly disappeared with each stop on our way to the tunnel.

Absolutely amazing place. Great guide with professional knowledge sharing. Tunnel itself is like from another planet. If you will get there you will have also drive the highest road in Norway - 1866m. We really enjoyed everything!
Aleksander S — Google review
An incredible experience. walking in the area surrounded by frozen plateaus, semi-frozen lakes and inside the ice cave. The very good guide explained to us the incredible nature, the life of the glaciers and the life of the hunters. The ice cave is incredible in its beauty, the formations, the artistic forms of ice, the artefacts preserved in ice cases, the tunnels, the theatre where we watched the documentary. Above us the fast-flowing clouds carried by a strong wind. Absolutely not to be missed. Tip: dress very, very well to protect yourself from the cold and wind. Domenico, Italy
Domenico M — Google review
Fantastic tour that everyone that is in the area should see. I would recommend visiting first visiting the norwegian mountain museum in Lom and then go up in the mountain and see the ice tunnel. I also recommend to not only see the ice tunnel but take the tour with the guides that will show you that what you see around is not only rocks and ice but so much more full of life!
Nenad L — Google review
Our guide Kathnika(apologies if I have misspelled) was enthusiastic. She gave demonstrations wherever possible, and this helped me understand the concepts e.g.: the polygonal hole softening and the Gabro Vs Feldspar stone sounds. I learned the crucial role played by the permafrost layers. I appreciate the fact that organizers have dedicated more time to the outdoor specimens than the cave. While I was impressed by the cave's creation history, it's not much there from a learning perspective. They can add some more technical information about the cave's current maintenance or if it is used for any experiments or so on. I highly recommend the tour.
Omkar J — Google review
Excellent tour guide giving us detailed information about local flora and fauna. Ice cave itself is absolutely amazing! A mixture of Nordic myth and Ice Age style artifacts frozen in the walls. Ice tunnel slide is highly recommended- if you are not afraid of really really tight spaces and sliding head first into the unknown dark :-)
Renate L — Google review
The artistic ice sculptures hidden in the cave beneath the glacier were stunning—like stepping into a frozen gallery of natural beauty and creativity. The tour guide offered fascinating insights into post-glacial nature, weaving in subtle hints about the effects of global warming. A perfect blend of art, science, and environmental awareness. Highly recommended!
Koichi F — Google review
Fantastic nature experience. It gives you a much better understanding of the glacier, fauna and flora, as well as climate change challenges. This is a guided tour anyone could benefit from!

Mountains
Galdhøpiggen, standing at 2469 meters above sea level, is Norway's highest mountain and one of the most popular hikes in the country. The challenging ascent is rewarded with breathtaking views, but it's advised not to hike alone due to the unpredictable mountain weather. Visitors can enjoy refreshments at a coffee place on the summit. Many hikers describe their experiences of reaching the top as awe-inspiring, with perfect weather conditions and stunning visibility.
Excellent hike to highest Norwegian and Scandinavia peak. It is demanding hike up but so worth it. As with all mountain not recommended to go alone. When I reached top did not see much as there was huge fog even though when stared was nice and sunny but weather changed were fast. Will need to return some day for the view. On top of mountain there is coffee place where you can get some refreshments food and drinks.

Easy walk up here from Juvasshytta. Harder and longer from Spiterstulen, about 8 hours round trip. Bring something to slide on the snow on back down. Makes the trip so much more enjoyable. I brought plastic rompeakebrett. Plastic bags will also work.
Håvard ( — Google review
TLDR; My review applies to the trek from Spiterstulen to the summit. The distance from Spiterstulen parking to the summit is a little more than 6 km. There are three summits on the route from Spiterstulen: Svellnos(you can bypass some gradients here but still have to climb 90%) , Keilhaus, and the summit itself. I laboured my way up till Keilhaus, and still the summit was looking far away. I had almost decided to turn back but it was a now-or-never situation. The view from the summit is mesmerizing. I reached there pretty late due to my struggles, hence, couldn't invest much time but I recommend to be there for at least 45 minutes to soak in the experience. I don't prefer to do snow gliding but my knees and legs had given up while descending. I glided through each and every snow patch. My pants and inners got drenched but it was fun !!! I have deducted one star solely due to absence of any wind shelters or huts during the entire trek. Strong winds and rain hit when I descended the last plateau but it was still challenging. A family with 2 kids panicked and were about to call for emergency help. Overall, this was the hardest trek for me till date, but a memorable one. Tips: - Do not attempt unless you are physically fit, and have a good stamina for gradients and slopes. - The trek is an ankle and knee wrecker. Shoes with ankle support, and knee caps recommend. - Start as early as possible, especially if you are unsure about your physical capacity. - Weather can change at a snap - it was sunny most of the day, winds got stronger in the afternoon, and I got battered by rain and winds during the last hour of the descent. Ensure you have clothes that can handle these changes. - Check the information board located at the beginning of the trail. It marks the last point where the drinking water is available. Beyond it, till one reaches the summit, there are no streams(well, one can hear those but cannot use them). - Carry a snow slider that one can place under the bum. It would not only save a lot of time and energy while descending but would also be a fun experience. - Carry snow gloves for a safer snow gliding.
Omkar J — Google review
Galdhøpiggen has incredible views and the hike itself is such an adventure. We didn’t make it all the way up because it started snowing too much, but it was still totally worth it. Just make sure to bring warm clothes — the weather can change fast!
Casper N — Google review
It was my first mountain and reached 945m. It took time because it was really rocky and didnt know how to climb and half time was looking where is trail. Also its really demanding. If you dont see T then take few steps and then you see. Didnt get higher because went late to climb and weather stoped. The most fun part is to go down on snow :).
Sonyeo M — Google review
Paid road, 150 NOK. From parking to beginning of glacier it is 1 hour hike on rocks.

Excellent place for rafting and other extreme water activities. We took a package of rafting (15yo+) and canyoning and it was fantastic. First half of the day we were on the river, then after a short rest we went to a river canyon for the other part of the adventure. Our guide Jens made it really fun, exciting but still safe at the same time. We had a comprehensive training, including capsizing of the raft, which was really cool. We went through some really big rapids on the river. Second part of the trip by far exceeded my expectations. It was a trip down the canyon, not by the river but IN the river. It was great. On each trip there was a supporting guide who was helping to keep things safe. We also really appreciated the blankets we were given after rafting to warm up a bit. It is a full-day activity I recommend to anyone who is keen on water adventure.
Przemek N — Google review
We are a family of 4 with two teenage boys, who had a fantastic experience both rafting and canyoning with Skjåk Adventure, and in particular our guide Ola Jon. We were staying in Jotunheimen shortly after Storm Hans and our booked adventure on the Sjoa had to be cancelled due to flooding. After enquiring via email, Skjåk Adventure responded the same day saying they had availability for rafting on their short rafting trip 2 days later. The team were very friendly on arrival, and were able to provide all the equipment needed including neoprene socks and trainers (just needed a swimming costume). The real bonus was they overheard us talking about wanting to fit in canyoning, and they offered to take us on their canyoning trip after the rafting. This was a massive bonus for us after the disruption of the storm. The rapids themselves were amazing - the river we rafted on (the Otta) had 3 sections of rapids with the first swelled up to an intense grade 4 thanks the storm. We had the best rafting experience, with our guide who was friendly and added games to the quieter sections, whilst being very professional about risk, making sure we knew how to get back into the boat (and making us jump and fall in the games a few times). The rafting was capped by a drive to a local bridge where we jumped back into the river - an intro to the canyoning to come! After a brief rest with free tea, coffee (or squash) at the cabin, we headed out to the canyoning. Ola Jon was again our guide, taking us out to the hill (a river which flowed from an old dam a few hundred meters higher up the mountain that used to be used for hydroelectricity). An “interesting” clamber down the rocks to the start point and then acclimatising in the (much colder) canyon. What followed was 90 minutes of joy with chutes, jumps and clambering down the canyon. Ola Jon had photos of us through the experience, as well as a video of us on the first rapids. These were shared without charge and without fuss, which was a hugely valuable and welcome offer from the group. Overall we would thoroughly recommend this company to anyone thinking of rafting in the area

Super fun day with our two kids of 10 and 7. Highly recommended for having an exciting adventure together! Thank you Bernd for your support and good instructions!
Wout W — Google review
I booked super spontaneously and they were ready to go. Everything was very well organised, we got all equipment and instructions we needed as beginners. We booked a family plus rafting tour and we had a group from the age of 10 to (a very fit) 71. The trip was a blast! Our guide was OJ, very experienced, super cool guy. Knows exactly what he is doing. We surprised ourselves with the courage we developed with him and I felt that OJ knew very well from the beginning, of how to push and support us - and it was 100% safe the entire time. We left impressed and super happy and spoke about what we experienced for the rest of the day. The landscape is also perfect and the team is very well organised. Thanks OJ, and the entire team. It was an excellent experience that we highly recommend! ❤️
Kira K — Google review
AMAZING EXPERIENCE, if I could add more than 5 stars I would. We really enjoyed we came all the way from Saudi Arabia. We did rafting with OJ and he made the experience even better he has such a charismatic personality. Definitely would recommend to try out rafting.
RA A — Google review
Great experience! We did the combo (rafting and canyoning). Rafting had some cool rapids, nature and some fun games led by the guides. Canyoning was super fun with options to be as challenging as you want including slides and jumps of varying lengths and heights. Opportunities to test your self if you are up for it with no pressure if it’s not your thing. Our guide Ola Jon was very knowledgeable, approachable and made both activities fun and very enjoyable.
Ben B — Google review
Really funny experience. The guides were really good and it was easy to feel they really liked their work.

Fantastic experience for all the family. Ola-John was a brilliant guide who made us feel very safe but also made it a lot of fun. We were lucky with beautiful weather and had a great time splashing in the crystal clear water. Highly recommend.

Represents Norwegian history, myths, and national identity from the Viking Age to the modern era. Inspired by the Icelandic sagas and Snorri Sturluson’s Heimskringla. Symbolizes continuity of culture, independence, and unity — linking Norway’s medieval kingship to its 19th–20th century nation-building.

This is a quick and free stop on route 52(?) with a rather unique and interesting artifact! May I suggest that you look this up and read about it while you visit this spot. It is definitely worth 10-15 minutes to look at this epic art piece that has so much controversial history, and is now in the middle of nowhere (sorry people who live there, I don't mean this as disrespectful!). It is beautiful and powerful and... off a small road!

Nice place with nice view and very friendly staff! We also got half day price since we arrived after 14:00. Only minus is that they have only two tracks for <110 cm and 2 more for <140 cm. The tracks are quite well proportioned thought, so it's definitely worth the visit for a couple of hours.

A wonderful place! There is parking, the waterfall is just a stone's throw away, and the waterfall is really spectacular. Also a very good souvenir shop with a great selection

Lovely little stop with views of a roaring set of cascades and falls. This very much reminded me of Athabasca Falls in Jasper National Park Canada although this is not nearly as large. The same furious waters and sure death if you fall in were the same though. There were a couple of rough walkways to differing viewpoints, some of which were not walkways so much as tracks past travelers had made.

Romsdalen is a stunning alpine ravine in Norway, known for its popular activities such as rock climbing, hiking, and picnicking. The small town of Andalsnes is nestled within this picturesque valley, surrounded by high mountains that are said to have inspired the creation of the world. Visitors can take a scenic drive to admire the beautiful serpentine road with waterfalls splashing down on one of the hairpin bends.
Lovely valley. Just a small drive away from Trollveggen. Highly recommend spend an hour or two here if you have the time. Stop at a parking spot along the side of the road and go down to the riverbed and enjoy the place to yourself as very few people stop by these places. We decided to have our lunch here after having been to Trollveggen, which was a bit of a disappointment because it was cloudy and foggy, but the beautiful valley definitely lifted our spirits and gave us hope that Trollveggen might be worthwhile to return after the fog had cleared up.

Sognefjellsvegen, also known as Sognefjellet mountain pass, is a stunning scenic route in Norway. This road takes you from Luster to Lom, offering breathtaking views of fjords, small towns, mountain passes, glaciers, and waterfalls. The highest mountain pass in Norway runs through Jotunheimen with vistas of summits and glaciers. The road is closed in winter but opens around May for summer travel.
Stunning road. Drove it and then the next day cycled it on my road bike. Smooth tarmac, quiet traffic and incredible views. Perfect cycling and driving pass that’s up there with the best.

06.2024/ It was such a beautiful car ride through spectacular and wild landscapes on the roof of Norway. One of the most memorable norwegian scenic routes! The road crosses in Jotunheimen National Park. You have to stop in several scenic view points as you arrive from Lom: Vegaskjelet view point, stop also at Bovertonvatnet lake, after at Nufshaug Scenic ViewPoint and Sognefjellet Viewing Point 1434 m. The last are Nedre Oscarshaug and Fortun Scenic Viewpoint. The road connects Lom and Gaupne and is 108 km in total. It reaches 1434 m altitude and crosses the highest pass in northern Europe. The traffic is not permitted between 8 p.m and 8 a.m. I recommend a sandwich stop at the End of Sognefjorden, at the end of the lake. I wish all of you good weather in order to catch with your eyes the entire beauty of the landscape!

Amazing scenic road!!! Beautiful views of fjords, small towns, mountain passes, glaciers, mountains, waterfalls, rivers and a lot of snow along the way- amazing route!!! A must do place in Norway! You can drive from this route near the town of lom to the highest mountain in Norway, the road to the top is amazing, there is an ice cave in the top, beautiful trails, summer ski, viewpoints and restaurant- recommended!!!

Be very careful here -- this highway closes every night and they have gates on either side that lock you in between 8pm and 8am. Unfortunately they do not have any signs in English that warn people of this closure, so I'm guessing lots of non Norwegian tourists end up sleeping in their car up on the high mountain pass.

To Pat M..Road only close during wintertime.Beautiful road to drive and scenery is stunning.Road 55 itself gets 9 stars. The one star is for google maps only because they dont allow you to set the route over sognefjell.Thats really bad.Same if you set the route for road 63 from Sogge bridge over trollstigen-Geiranger over to rv 15. Google maps need to fix this and put out the closing time of many Norwegian roads.

Troll Wall, known as Europe's tallest rock face, is a breathtaking natural wonder surrounded by rugged peaks. A visit here is enhanced by the scenic Rauma Railway ride, which offers stunning views of the Trollveggen cliff and Kylling bridge while providing informative commentary in multiple languages. The area boasts a visitor center and café for refreshments after exploring nearby trails. Whether shrouded in mist or basking in sunlight, the wall's imposing presence captivates all who see it.
Such aggressive mountains, its like the Peaks are shouting at you from the ground. No photo or video could replicate the breathtaking view.

Trollveggen, or the famous Troll Wall, and its peaks Bruraskaret (1576 m), Store Trolltind (1788 m), and Nordre Trolltind (1452 m). You can climb them, but it requires very good climbing skills and is rarely attempted. More at bylismytam.pl

Krzysztof J — Google review
Amazing attraction. Don't rush while driving up and down the road, just enjoy the scenery. If you visit early in the day and it is foggy, take a trip through Romsdalen, Øverdalen or Eiksdalen and return to Trollveggen in the afternoon, because it will most likely have cleared up and the view will be astonishing. In the middle of Trollveggen there is a large waterfall running through, this ends up in a river going through the forrest which runs along the road that leads to all the winding roads and hairpins. The forrest has different hiking paths that takes you all the way up to the top of Trollveggen.

Definitely worth a stop if you’re traveling by. Nice little visitor center at the bottom, most of the stuff sold there is the usual tourist junk. But the wall itself is just amazing. We were unlucky this time, but even with clouds it looks massive. Quite some people died there climbing or basejumping over the years, so it’s not an easy mountain.

The most beautiful autumn scenery I’ve ever seen. We drove here end of September (I assume as soon as the first snow fall starts the road isn’t drivable anymore). Honestly no words to describe this beautiful place on earth! Please keep it that way! Unfortunately we picked up some cigarette buds laying on the floor…

A must do! This road gave us some of the best views of our entire trip! It's essentially a dirt road winding through a valley along a river with stunning views. It is a dirt road and slower going, so allot about an hour for it, but the road is in good condition and we managed just fine in a two wheel drive sedan during the fall time.
Cole M — Google review
Worth seeing especially after summer season when you can enjoy the beautiful Autumn colors.

This is a fantastic route to reach Stryn. On top of the mountain you can see a wild nature, the road is a bit narrow and old so you can't drive more than 10kmph. Mobile signals drop there so don't drive in the late evening or at night.

(Translated by Google) We took this route to Stryn because the guidebook recommended it as being very scenic. And they didn't overpromise. What awaited us here was truly magical: Waterfalls, turquoise water, all shades of green and gray, and majestic mountains. The route itself is a bit adventurous at times, but since we were traveling by car, the route was manageable. It was an absolute highlight of our trip. Absolutes Highlight unserer Reise.

Nestled along the scenic Road 63, Gudbrandsjuvet is a breathtaking gorge that captivates visitors with its stunning views and powerful waterfall. Just 15 kilometers from Valldal, this natural wonder features a deep ravine where the river rushes through narrow passages, creating an awe-inspiring sight. The dry stone bridge built in the 1920s adds historical charm to the landscape while providing access to various viewpoints.
Don’t skip this stop! We almost drove right by but I’m glad we didn’t. It’s a beautiful spot with scenic views and a powerful and unique waterfall. It’s well worth your time. There are bathrooms, a cafe, and a small gift shop.

We spent a whole day here last week. Eventhough it was more toen 25 degrees our kids 13, 11, 9 years old could not stop climbing and zipline=ing. There where obstacles in all levels so all ages had fun. We as parent as well. We even saw another Family with a 5 and 2 year old in a harnas. Good values for money. I can recomend it to everybody. And would go back if we are in the neighborhood.
Quiz W — Google review
A lot of fun for the entire family. They have something for kids (if they can walk they can do it with some help), for non trained adults and even for climbers/trained adults. They do not sell much food, only hotdogs, but there are grills and tables/benches so it is recommended to bring your own food. There are only two toilets and not much parking. On a sunny day you need to order a ticket online before 10am because they have a limit on about 150 people and it does fill up. It is anyway recommended to do that because it is cheaper.
ChiliTheDog — Google review
We had the most amazing time!! My 11 year old and 6 year old both had so much fun and we were there from opening to closing. Tip: bring extra socks if your kids want to do the bouncy house/jumping activites as some of the surfaces are still covered with dew in the morning! But my kids didn't care! The staff was so friendly and helpful too. An experience we will never forget!
Rachel S — Google review
Four level of difficulties. It is good for couple of hours to half day trip where you can bring your own food and cook. You can also visit near by strawberry farms and buy fresh delicious strawberry. The place is great. I gave the place 4 stars for two reasons: 1. There are two toilets that are shared, and located at the entrance of the park. 2. Food are limited to snacks, coffee and Ice cream.
Khalil A — Google review
A great place to spend time with friends and/or family, from young to old. Activities involve, climbing, zip-lining, jumping, dangeling, all in safety of straps and hooks connected to a safety line which goes trough all courses. There are activities on the ground for people less prone to hights. Obstical course, inflated billow to jump on, bow and arrow. Tables have been scattered around a small hutt who can provide cover for the sun or rain. In front of the hutt there is s grill that can be used by anyone. I found three downsides: Prizes goes by hight, so everyone over 140cm will pay full prize. It can get pretty crowded, and wating on a platform in a tree can become a reality. They don't open the park before 11:00 (am).
Henry V — Google review
Not happy with the park. Very expensive, and you need to climb with your kids otherwise there are a few lines available for them. You pay even for the accompany of your kids. No food inside, tea coffee and self grilled sausages.
Sati S — Google review
Very nice place for a sunny day. One issue that kept happening is that the kids did not gain enough speed (or simply are too lightweight) to reach the end of the zip lines and got stuck in the middle, the crew came assisting every time. This happened too many times!! . But all in all- we had a very good time.
Hadas C — Google review
A lot of good zip-lines. Green and blue courses most fun, red is physically challenging not that much mentally.

Dalsnibba Utsiktspunkt is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking breathtaking vistas of Norway's stunning landscapes. Perched high above, it boasts the Geiranger Skywalk, which offers the highest fjord view accessible by road. The journey to this viewpoint can be thrilling, especially for those with a fear of heights! Once you reach the top, you're greeted by awe-inspiring panoramas of snow-capped mountains and dramatic fjords that will leave you speechless.
Amazing viewpoint. Felt like a bird's view while watching from the view point. There is this amazing feeling that brings calm but may also make some people scared. Surely not suitable for people with fear of heights.
Anjhana K — Google review
Easy place to miss if you do not know about it and you are rushing to the Geiranger itself... as I did two times already. It is a toll road with crazy hairpin turns next to the steep cliffs, so it might get bit scary if you are driving really close to the edge of the road. But the views... along the whole way up to the top and then the view on Geiranger itself, speechless and definitely worth a visit and worth every krone. We spend two hours there just watching and enjoying the views. And it is possible to get there with your caravan and spend a night there for bit more krone and enjoy the sunset and sunrise.
Milan P — Google review
Dalsnibba — what a view! You need to pay a small ticket fee to drive up, but once you reach the top, it’s worth every krone. I really enjoyed the view and the drive itself.

Well…. What more can I tell? It was breathtaking view! Everyone born in Norway has to visit once in their lifetime! Because the visit will make you understand why Norway is so proud of their fjord! Also making you proud to be a Norwegian no matter what’s your background as long you’re born in Norway.
Timmy T — Google review
My visit to the Dalsnibba Viewpoint was truly a remarkable experience and easily one of the most memorable moments of my trip through Norway. The panoramic views from the top were absolutely stunning—so vast and dramatic that it almost felt surreal. From this elevated vantage point, you can see deep into the Geirangerfjord valley and across rugged, snow-capped peaks, offering a perspective that captures the sheer majesty of Norway’s natural landscape. One of the most unique and surprising parts of the visit was getting to experience snow in the middle of summer. Being able to touch fresh snow and even witness a gentle snowfall while surrounded by greenery below was an unexpected and magical contrast. The gift shop and café at the summit were a welcome surprise as well. I had the chance to try one of their Finnomin rolls, and it was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and perfect with a hot drink while enjoying the chilly mountain air. Dalsnibba combines the thrill of high-altitude views with a touch of cozy hospitality, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the region. It’s a place where you can truly feel on top of the world.

⸻ Beautiful e-bike and hiking tour with incredible scenery! We explored Norway’s fjords, waterfalls, and wildflower-filled trails — truly stunning views around every corner. There is a very long uphill section, but the e-bike assist made it totally doable and even fun. The short hike was peaceful, and we loved the local snack and fresh juice. They’re still working out a few kinks, but it was well worth the effort to get there. Highly recommend for nature lovers!

I wouldn’t recommend anyone else. Book Uteguiden: you’ll thank yourself forever.

These guys were amazing at sorting us with everything we needed and recommendations for a one night kayak camp over 24 hours! We had the most amazing time kayaking down the fjords here, truly felt like the best way to experience this setting. Their facilities were great and were able to supply us with more than enough gear we needed. The tandem kayak was brilliant, highly recommend and Cris was so helpful before during and after our adventure. Thank you so much!

Kayaking for six days in the fjords of Norway with Kim (Kajakkim) is a memorable life experience I will always be grateful for. No matter what your skill level, if this is something you’ve always wanted to do, don’t put it off any longer. It was extraordinary!

We did a family rafting. Most of us did rafting the first time ever. We enjoyed it immensely. Our guides V and Martin were amazing. Dead jokes were their superpower. After having the best time rafting we warmed up at a fire place and were given hot drinks and something sweet to eat which was a Norwegian sweet. Totally recommend this!

We had an incredible fjord kayak paddle with Uteguiden last week. We were fortunate enough to have Marcin as our tour guide and we couldn't have asked for a more down to earth, engaging tour guide. It was apparent very early on that Marcin loves doing what he does and wants to share the beauties of his adopted homeland with visitors. The scenery on the tour was stunning and the midway lunch stop was delightful and well appointed. I'd absolutely recommend this trip to anyone, especially if you can get a tour with Marcin (who also does rafting and canyoning from what I'm told).
Quinn T — Google review
We had an amazing kayaking tour with Kim — truly one of the highlights of our trip! Kim was incredibly warm, kind, and knowledgeable, and made us feel completely at ease from the moment we arrived. Her passion for the landscape, the water, and local stories really brought the experience to life. The scenery was breathtaking, and Kim struck the perfect balance between giving us space to enjoy it and sharing insights that made the tour even more meaningful. We felt safe, inspired, and completely in awe of the surroundings.

Flydalsjuvet is a captivating viewpoint located just behind the village of Geiranger in Norway. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the iconic Geirangerfjord and the surrounding mountains. The well-designed viewing platforms ensure safety while providing an immersive experience. Although parking is limited, it's worth visiting for the stunning scenery and clean, free toilets available. Accessible via Route 63, this spot is perfect for summer visits to enjoy the mesmerizing nature and hiking opportunities.
This was such a beautiful spot in Norway. It's a small town. There's definitely lots to see. We did the bus tour, so we got to more the area. We stopped on top of the hill, and was able to take lots of good pictures. There's a few cool shops, small dining spots, and more. If I ever get to come back here, I would love to explore more :)

The original settlement before tourists arrived would have been simply gorgeous. If would have been a fishing village. Now, cruise ships arrive and bus loads of tourists arrive daily. There is not much to do in the village itself except maybe go fishing or visit the local supermarket. Lots of nice hiking trails to scenic waterfalls from the center of the village and one can even visit some of the places mentioned in the movie TROLL by taking a 3 hour bus ride.

We had an incredible day hiking and exploring Flydalsjuvet in Geiranger, Norway! The viewpoint is absolutely breathtaking, with panoramic views of the Geirangerfjord, snow-capped mountains, and lush greenery that feel straight out of a postcard. The trails were well-marked and offered a perfect mix of challenge and accessibility, letting us soak in the stunning fjord scenery at every turn. We loved the iconic Fjordsetet (Queen’s Chair) for those unforgettable photo ops! The area’s peaceful vibe and dramatic cliffs made it a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend Flydalsjuvet for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Norway’s natural beauty!

Fossevandring Geiranger

Mentioned on

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Fossevandring Geiranger is a leisurely 10-minute walk from the small town's port, making it easily accessible for visitors who prefer not to take an excursion. The metal and concrete trail runs along the river, offering several viewpoints and well-maintained paths. It takes about 30 minutes to descend from the museum to the fjord and around an hour to ascend.
This waterfall can be reached on foot from the centre of Geiranger with a quite easy uphill walk, that takes about 15 minutes. Once there you can enjoy a very nice view on the fjord and then descend along the waterfall on a boardwalk made of 327 steps.
Francesco X — Google review
Beautiful place, it's a must do to appreciate the greatness of nature. Must do the cruise trip to see it's greatness.
Cezar A — Google review
Numerous reviewers have already described Geiranger's wonderful waterfall walk in some detail. I’ll just add (or repeat) a few bits of info along with photos. 1. We avoided summer (mid-July) crowds by doing the walk in the evening -- after 8pm when parking is free but still daytime brightness. As the photos show, we saw only a dozen or so other visitors over the hour we spent enjoying this walk. 2. To get to the waterfall walk from Joker, head to the campervan park and turn left along the paved road (Homlungsvegen), then stay left onto the wide gravel path next to the rapids. You soon pass the picturesque concrete building beside the rapids; the metal stairway begins soon after. 3. Parts of the walk hug the rapids and falls, so visitors might get sprayed with water. 4. We started from the waterfront (not Fjord centre), applying the old rule that hikes are more fun when they begin going up, then return going down. The walk isn't strenuous, but climbing 327 steps up does require some effort. 5. We visited the fjord centre the next day as a separate event. That made the waterfall walk more leisurely and gave us ample time the next day to enjoy the fjord centre and the nearby short woods walks. 6. Return by the same waterfall walk, unless it is crammed with visitors. The main Geiranger road is narrow, busy, and doesn't have a footpath. (I drove up and down it several times.)
Steve M — Google review
This is a simple walk right on the edge of town that just gets better and better the higher up you go. The walk begins at the camping area just beyond the small supermarket and the first falls can be seen from a relatively easy, and flat path. After that you take a series of staircases up to each new set of cascades, and as you climb higher the falls gets better, as does the view back over the village to the fjord. The final cascade is the smallest, and from here you can head up to the hotel and cafe, or turn around and head straight back down, enjoying the great views of the fjord.
Stephen S — Google review
Extremely beautiful and scenic trail. If you go up the stairs you will get the most beautiful views. We went up the stairs taking pictures along the way. Be prepared to get a lot of cold water mist. Afterwards you can walk down on the road and stop at the church for spectacular views of town. There is also a short cut from the end of the church plot.
G. S — Google review
Absolutely, Kimberly! Here’s a mid-length review of Fossevandring, the waterfall walk in Geiranger—perfect for a travel journal or social media post: --- 💦 Fossevandring – Nature’s Staircase in Geiranger Fossevandring is a stunning waterfall walk that blends wild Norwegian nature with sleek, modern architecture. The trail follows the powerful Storfossen waterfall via a series of metal staircases and platforms, offering dramatic views and the soothing roar of cascading water. It’s an easy-to-moderate hike, taking about 20–30 minutes depending on your pace, and is accessible from the town center or the Norwegian Fjord Centre. What makes it special? You’re not just walking beside a waterfall—you’re practically in it. The spray kisses your skin, and the see-through grating underfoot adds a thrilling touch. Along the way, you’ll find photo-worthy viewpoints, benches for reflection, and even nighttime lighting for a romantic stroll. Whether you’re arriving by cruise or staying nearby, Fossevandring is a must-do experience that captures the essence of Geiranger’s natural beauty.
Kimberly H — Google review
Lovely spot to visit, a short walk from the centre of Geiranger, there are stairs taking you up directly adjacent to the waterfall, you cam either come back down the same way, or alternatively take the road route (and stop at the church on the way for more photo opportunities).
Rich C — Google review
We enjoyed the walking trail and the water fall. The light breeze and water vapor from the water fall was a good refreshing while walking up to the highest point of the water fall. This is an easy trail, and it's takes around 25 minutes to complete. You could view the bay from the highest point Don't miss it while you are in Geiranger.

My husband and daughter did the body rafting with FjordActive. I did not participate (well, water in Norway is fresh and I have my temperature standard 😉), but from their comments, I can tell you it was a great experience. Their Norwegian guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive to everyone - despite the physical level or age. His explanation was very clear (equipment, schedule, activities, safety, pictures etc). He also did his best to reassure my daughter when she got into a little panic before the very last jump - nothing difficult, but this was the only place you couldn't skip and had to jump into the water. Highly recommended! Don't hesitate a minute!

Our trip was truly amazing! Their goal is to take people to the most remote parts of the glacier to experience stunning natural beauty and it turned out to be exactly that, and even better. The groups are small, the guides are fantastic. They are experienced, educated, fluent in English and will make sure you are feeling safe and will provide you with crampons, ice axes, and harnesses. The glacier changes rapidly, so every hike is unique, and you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking scenery. Special thanks to our guide Ole!

I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour. It was our first time on a glacier, and we had an amazing, impressive experience. Many thanks to our guide Michael – he was very attentive, cared about our safety, and made sure to find truly beautiful spots for us. We really enjoyed everything. The tour takes about 7 hours. The route is NOT difficult. Even someone who is not very athletic or well-trained can manage it. There is enough time to rest along the way. Everything is perfectly organized by the team.

We absolutely loved it. The guide was really nice and knowledgeable, we felt safe the whole time and we also loved that he would stop every once in a while to tell us a story (I think the real reason was for the people to rest). The explanations, the safety instructions, the boat ride made this experience 100% recommended. He would always ask for a feedback from us, making sure we are all safe and comfortable and enjoying it. At the way back we stopped near the tipi to drink coffee or tea

Amazing private glacier tour with Ole and Fjord Active! We were the only ones signed up for the glacier tour, which meant we could explore so much more than in a larger group, where things move slower. Ole guided us expertly and showed us all the hidden spots on the glacier. Walking on the glacier was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip to Norway, truly the cherry on top! What’s even more impressive is that Fjord Active is the only agency allowed to lead tours to this part of the glacier because they own the land and have the exclusive permit. This means you’re truly alone on the glacier, making the experience even more special. Huge thanks to Ole and the whole Fjord Active team — we wish you continued success in this amazing work!

Incredible experience! Would recommend everyone who wants to do a glacier hike in Norway! Our guide Marcus was very experienced and explained the whole tour, the equipment and the facts about the glacier very professional. He was very caring that everyone felt safe. We started with a 20min boat ride. After we had a 1.5h walk to the point where we got our glacier equipment (clamps, ice axe, harness). Fro there it was about 15min to the edge of the glacier where we began walking on the ice for around 2 hours. On the way back we also got some coffee and hot chocolate before we head back with the rib boat. The trip will stay in our memories forever - just breathtaking to make this experience! Thanks a lot Marcus!

Up close with a glacier after a short hike is always sweet. It was an overwhelming feeling to see this glacier. The hike was around 2.5 miles roundtrip through a rocky terrain. A boat cuts the trip by taking you to a close point. Overall a good way to spend a few hours.

Amazing to see the glacier and surroundings here! We didn’t take the boat because it only saves you 1km (the easy part). The other 1,5-2kms you have to hike up anyway. There are stairs and ropes provided but it isn’t the easiest of hikes. Worth the effort 🌟

The glacier is definitely one of the most beautiful in Norway. You can hike all the way to the blue ice. About a 45min hike. Don't take the boat as it won't safe you any time as it is still another 30min walk from the pier. The best light for the blue ice is in the morning. This place gets really crowded in the summer months so come early or late.

We had a great time at this glacier trip. We booked a kayak trip and guide but if youd like to walk to the glacier ( not climb it or get too close to it) you can do it by yourself. The road to the beginning of the hike has a very small fee toll. We went with an amazing guide ( finn) and group. Even with rain and cold, this trip was unforgettable.

Up close with a glacier after a short hike is always sweet. It was an overwhelming feeling to see this glacier. The hike was around 2.5 miles roundtrip through a rocky terrain. A boat cuts the trip by taking you to a close point. Overall a good way to spend a few hours.
Lisa H — Google review
Amazing to see the glacier and surroundings here! We didn’t take the boat because it only saves you 1km (the easy part). The other 1,5-2kms you have to hike up anyway. There are stairs and ropes provided but it isn’t the easiest of hikes. Worth the effort 🌟
Marie M — Google review
Amazing experience. It’s not just hiking! You may enter the glacier on your own or you can buy a trip with experience guide. If you prefer go on your own you must have crampons!

Wonderful place. We took the glacier tour, it was amazing
Avi C — Google review
The glacier is definitely one of the most beautiful in Norway. You can hike all the way to the blue ice. About a 45min hike. Don't take the boat as it won't safe you any time as it is still another 30min walk from the pier. The best light for the blue ice is in the morning. This place gets really crowded in the summer months so come early or late.
Nils W — Google review
1 hour to glacier from parking lot, medium difficult.
Zed J — Google review
We had a great time at this glacier trip. We booked a kayak trip and guide but if youd like to walk to the glacier ( not climb it or get too close to it) you can do it by yourself. The road to the beginning of the hike has a very small fee toll. We went with an amazing guide ( finn) and group. Even with rain and cold, this trip was unforgettable.

Ørnesvingen Viewpoint

Scenic spot
Outdoor Activities
Viewing platform offering picturesque views of the fjord & its steep hillsides, plus a waterfall.
Fabulous view from an elevated point. Area is well situated for visitors where they can see and enjoy the nature and the river below and surrounding villages around the river. There’s a small area for cars parking on the main road and at the time we arrived was too crowded with buses and cars. Worth the stop by and enjoyment.
Mohammed I — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking! One of the most stunning fjord views I’ve ever experienced. The contrast between the deep blue water, steep mountain cliffs, and cascading waterfalls like the Seven Sisters is unforgettable. Whether you’re seeing it from a viewpoint above or from a boat in the fjord, it’s pure magic. A must-visit spot in Norway
Petra — Google review
The first view of the Fjord for many & wow! Absolutely stunning. Park up & take a walk along the cliff, not many people did this & you can find a quiet spot & take in the awe of it all!
Nick S — Google review
Ørnesvingen Viewpoint: where views go wild! After ascending Ørnevegen's eleven thrilling hairpin bends from Geiranger, you'll reach the Ørnesvingen viewpoint – and trust me, it's worth every turn! Parking can be a fun challenge (make your inner Tetris addict proud!), but the spectacular view awaiting you is the real prize. Prepare to be dazzled by the stunning Geirangerfjord with its steep mountainsides, the iconic “Seven Sisters” waterfalls, and the tiny Knivsflå mountain hamlet. If you're lucky, you'll even spot a cruise ship maneuvering, looking incredibly small from up here. For even more panoramas, take a short walk up the trail – it helps you to get closer to the waterfalls. And yes, there might be a crowd, but just ignore them; the views here are truly breathtaking! Plus, there's even a natural shower close by, next to the road, if you're feeling extra adventurous or want to trick a friend or family member in taking an extra refreshing photo... In a nutshell, this viewpoint is a definite must-stop!
K. D — Google review
Absolutely wonderful! However, be cautious as there are some irate locals who tend to shout aggressively at anyone and threaten to call the police over something as minor as a car being parked just one centimetre over the designated parking line.
Maxime D — Google review
Recommend a short trail behind the viewpoint. It’s less crowded. The parking is very limited (~20).
Li C — Google review
Ørnesvingen with the 11 tight 90-180 degrees turns down to Geirangerfjorden. On your way down, there is a plateau you can stop at and take breathtaking pictures.
Thomas T — Google review
The most crowded place I've seen during Norway trip 🙈 offers really nice view though! Must have a little luck to park while large buses are quite annoying 🥵

Geirangerfjord is a must-visit destination in Norway, offering breathtaking views of snowy mountain peaks, lush vegetation, and cascading waterfalls. It is accessible via the Trollstigen, one of the National Tourist Routes. A visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site promises an exhilarating experience with its deep blue waters and steep cliffs adorned with thundering waterfalls.
Can’t rate it less than five stars despite the number of tourists. The boat ride is recommended as the best way to see both the cascades and fjord, as well as the various hiking trails nearby to get different angles of the fjord and meet some friendly llamas on the way.
Ana C — Google review
This place is stunningly beautiful. The boat cruise around the fjord was so awesome. Vistas of majestic snow-peaked mountains with cascades falling off the cliffs appeared before us. I could see that all the tourists were awe struck by this magnificent sight. Norway is famous for her fjords and rightly so. I recommend strongly a tour of Norway for those who love scenery.

Breathtaking views. Amazing people. Exciting tours by car/bus or boat. Is a small place, but a beautiful nature wonder. We took a tour with the bus to the skywalk in Dalsnibba at 1500m. There is a suvenir shop, toilets and you can buy food as well. We took a tour with the bus on the Eagles road as well and is a stop to take pictures of the 7 Sisters waterfalls. The place is crowded, but it does really matter because you forget about everything when you get a glimpse of the amazing landscape.

What a breathtaking scenery! 😍 Every aspect is stunning like the picture created by photoshop. I went there by car and hiked to the top to see waterfall. I visited in June and the weather is great 👍
Phanida N — Google review
this fjord is an UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE and its very beautiful. the only drawback about this place is that it is always crowded and there are always lots of cruises in the area. i would recommend you to stay in this beautiful town to actually enjoy the beauty of this fjord. And do not do the fjord cruise, instead do RIB ride which is more thrilling and exciting !!
Ankur K — Google review
One of the nicest Fjords, it's worth starting the day early to take a breath of this beautiful country. I would recommend to come first with a cruise ship to get a first impression and then later on by car on a individual itinerary, to get a much deeper look into the history of Gairanger and the other Fjords. Keep in mind hat Norway is an expensive country but worth it to see once in a lifetime.
Dominic C — Google review
It is an enjoyable cruise and amazing view of the Geirqnger Fjord, Seven Sisters and surrounding mountains. We were told that it is remarkable that there is still a lot of snow in the mountains. It is very breezy and please wear warm clothing even its Spring time (visited on 14th May 2023, Sunday). Another Fjord that you should not miss it.

Easily the most beautiful fjord, with waterfalls all round. Impressive view from top (resembling Big Bend in Grand Canyon). Too bad we had overcast weather nonstop (typical for most rainy region in Europe)

Seven Sisters Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder located in different parts of the world. One such waterfall can be found on the way to Lachung from Gangtok, in North Sikkim. The waterfall consists of seven separate streams cascading around 250 meters into the Geirangerfjord, creating an awe-inspiring sight. Visitors are captivated by the beauty and tranquility of this natural attraction.
Geiranger is deservedly a UNESCO world heritage site. We took the 3 hr Panorama tour bus and money well spent. Things to know: -bring snacks and something to drink as nothing is available during the bus tour; - at the bathroom breaks go quickly to the BR as there are only two stalls for ladies; - if you go during the late fall (end of Sept-begin of October) be prepared with layers as it can be warm in the valley and wintery in the mountain. Beautiful place to visit!
Maria V — Google review
Awesome experience to see it from the kayak :)
Daniel B — Google review
The waterfalls were gorgeous (as all waterfalls are). They are a little tricky to find as you have to either ride a boat, or hike, or we also saw a few people kayaking. We didn't have time to take the hike or kayak so we opted to view the falls as we were on the ferry to our next location. If you are going to travel by ferry in Geirangerfjord, I would recommend taking this approach to seeing the falls.
Sarah B — Google review
The Seven Sisters in Norway is an absolutely stunning place — a true paradise for anyone wh The towering waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and peaceful fjord scenery create a breathtaking expe start to finish. It's one of those rare destinations where you can simply stand still and feel surn beauty. A must-visit for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
Massih M — Google review
Stunning. It is hard to believe the Seven Sisters is only the 39th tallest waterfall in Norway at 410-meters (1,345 feet)! The tallest of the seven has a free fall that measures 250 meters (820 feet). The waterfall is located along the #geirangerfjord which has more waterfalls than we could count.
John T — Google review
Breathtaking views!! I went in Late September and being on the water, it was a little chilly - warm clothes are recommended!
Melody H — Google review
The Seven Sisters is an interesting feature but not an exceptional one in this most beautiful environment. They're part of this majestic fjord and, really, you find quite a few more impressive spots. I guess they are most spectacular at certain times of the year, maybe in May/June, when the snow is melting and thus feed the waterfalls with a greater volume of water.

Skåla, Norway's highest mountain located in Jostedalsbreen National Park, offers a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience. Rising 1,848 meters above the stunning Lake Lovatnet, the ascent involves a demanding climb with breathtaking views of glaciers, fjords, and mountains. The hike leads to Skalatarnet round cabin at the summit, which was built in 1891 and has become an iconic symbol of Skåla.
A beautiful mountain walk 1843 altitude. With good help from the Shjerpa people, the route is very nice. Calculate approximately 8 hours round trip. 22 beds at the top, as well as a couple of tent seats. An experience👍 photo: @engelsen

Loved this hike to the summit of Skala yesterday. Its a tough continuous uphill hike as you would expect going from near sea level to 1848 metres. Paths are good and well marked even the last few hundred metres in the snow are well indicated with the stone cairns. Amazing views but for me very cloudy at the top. Its great there is the tower and new shelter at the top that many people book to stay the night. There are a few drinking water streams up till about 1600 metres. You have to be in good fit shape to make it to the top and with warm gloves and kit etc. I hiked on my own and made it to the top in 3 hours 40 mins with half hour stop round trip was 6 hours 50 mins. Loved it.

Accessible via a hiking trail amidst waterfalls and towering mountains, it provides an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts.
A marvellous place , easy walk from the parking to the lake where you can see in front of you the glacier, that is much smaller than before. The only problem is the Norwegian who set up a small car ( not electric ) service to bring tourist from the park to the lake !!! People come to the mountain and they don’t even want to walk and enjoy it.
Luca D — Google review
Fun hike and good views! However when you reach the base of the glacier, you actually see less of it. Be sure to take photos when you’re a bit further out (you can do this when returning to the parking lot).
Jeremy C — Google review
Very nice hike! Moderate, out and back hike, suitable for families and strollers, great viewpoints of waterfalls, the glacier and a small lake. The Glacier gets smaller every year which is sad to see but still worth a visit! Took us about 45 minutes each way.
Ori D — Google review
Must come! If you are lucky, you may accidentally park at the parking lot besides paid parking for free like me😂😂. I would say it is totally worth it. If you have no problem with your health, I recommend you to walk up to the glacier because there are some amazing views along the way. You can easily spend 2 or more hours taking photos and picnic there. The energy of the glacier is just magical. MUST-COME. Easy walk. 30 mins up and 30 mins back in total. Worth it!

Hiked up to the glacier, very scenic all the way up, you miss a lot if you take the troll cars. A few beautiful waterfalls along the way

Easy family route for all ages. Amazing view of the glaciar and glaciar lake. You can take the troll bus or walk to the view. Path is easy, you can take your trolly and family friendly. We had an amazing time. It was very windy and be prepared to have a raincoat to wear it while going through the waterfall. You will get whet.

This place is a must-visit—especially for cruise travelers. As is typical in Norway, you’ll often see rain and sunshine at the same time, so be sure to dress appropriately. If you purchase a round-trip bus ticket, you can hop on any return bus from the same company regardless of the time.

Loen Active AS offers a thrilling experience for adventure seekers. Visitors can start at the Loen Active shop by the fjord and embark on a challenging climb high above the fjord, surrounded by majestic mountains and the Jostedalsbreen Glacier. The new Stigull ladder is set to be introduced in 2024, adding an exciting element to the adventure.
Had an amazing Via Ferrata experience. Amelia was an energetic, personable and knowledgeable guide who made a potentially scary experience more manageable and fun. Recommended highly, but it’s important to be in pretty good shape.
Christopher J — Google review
The Via Ferrata in Loen with Loen Active AS was the highlight of my trip! Was luck with perfect weather in May, and our guide Michaela was outstanding—so calm, confident, and incredibly encouraging. The climb really pushed me, but she made me feel completely included with zero pressure to rush. It was all about enjoying the views and the journey. The route itself was breathtaking and beautifully organized. One tip: make sure to book the shoe and glove rental—it’s optional when booking, but absolutely essential. Regular hiking shoes just won’t cut it. An unforgettable experience!

Highly recommend the Via Ferrata here! While I used my Lowa Renegade hiking boots (and I made it work), I'd definitely recommend getting some hiking shoes that can provide a little better grip - either buying some or renting the ones Loen Active AS offers. We were extremely lucky with the beautiful weather we had for our day and our guide, Tilde, was amazing!!! She made our trip so fun!!
Randi B — Google review
Our via Ferrara experience was absolutely amazing. Our guide was very helpful and helped out where any of us needed, and also encouraged us to try harder options if we felt up to it. The views along the way are unbelievable. This was my favorite experience in Norway.

Thanks Jonas. What great service and a fabulous quiet place to paddleboard. We were docked in nearby Olden on our cruise, made the trip up the worlds steepest cable car the Loen Skylift (don’t miss it the views were immense). Then we come down find this hire company. 10 minute walk and in15 mins I’m on the water with wetsuit, boots, gloves, safety vest. Honestly all alone out on the water was beautiful thanks to these guys.

It was definitely a highlight of my Norway trip! I did a Romsdalseggen hike for 10 hours the day before and felt exhausted. I didn’t know what to expect at Loen ferrata and got really anxious and unsure if I was able to compete the climb. I’m so thankful I booked a guide for this experience. Tilda was very professional, patiently stayed with me and helped with a rope through the difficult parts. We also had a great conversation, inspiring to keep going! In the end was one of the most beautiful experiences! Thank you Tilda and Loen Active team! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

A must place to visit, absolutely stunning. The scenery is breathtaking.
Rich A — Google review
WE ARRIVED ON A CRUISE SHIP AND BOOKED THROUGH AN INDEPENDENT COMPANY We booked through a company independent from our cruise ship for the shuttle ride to Loen Skylift, which was more economical than the cruise ship excursion price. It was an 'all day' ticket, so you could come and go at times you pleased, which was an advantage so you could gage the weather. LARGE GONDOLA When you arrive, you go up some stairs elevator and then present your ticket to enter the 'loading zone' to await the cable car. ("Skylift"). The cabin fits about 35 people, so be ready to be shoulder to shoulder. TERRACE, RESTAURANT, GIFT SHOP AND TRAILS Once up the top, there is a terrace roof with views over the fjord where we took several photos. There's also a lower terrace, (where we saw a lone sheep), a gift shop, restaurant and trails. We could see our cruise ship docked below. RECOMMEND NOT GOING FIRST THING IN THE DAY We were lucky to have *decent* weather in August 2025, but it was windy and cold enough for 4 layers of clothing, gloves and a hat. Fortunately, it was somewhat sunny, allowing for teal fjord waters in our photos. (See my photos). I wouldn't recommend going first thing in the morning as we noticed it seemed to take some time in most of our Norwegian ports for the weather to clear. (We were up the skylift around midday). PRICEY RESTAURANT We had some soup and hot drinks at the restaurant while we were up there to make it more of an experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with great views, but expensive. Staff are not Norwegian and the host was a bit gruff and said we could only have an hour to dine since we didn't have a reservation. (That was enough). They offered free WiFi, which is always a bonus when you're visiting from a cruise ship. WE WANDERED THE TRAILS FOR A SHORT TIME We wandered a trail for a short time (10 mins?) up to some stone stacks and came back down. It was a little uncomfortably windy and cold to do more and we didn't really know where we were going regarding taking the trails further. We could see zip-liners in the distance which looked fun. The toilets/WCs were clean and busy with tourists. They could have done with a hook on the door. The gift store had quality items. WE SPENT ABOUT 2 HRS AT THE TOP, INCLUDING LUNCH Including eating lunch at the restaurant, we spent about 2 hours at the Loen Skylift from start to finish. (Allow about an another hour to include transportation to and from the skylift from the cruise dock). THE MAIN ATTRACTION Other than walking in the town to see a few churches, a waterfall and shops, this seemed to be the main activity near the port of Olden, so I recommend it.
L W — Google review
Stunning, beautiful, and we saw some snow (May) the skylift was easier than I thought. Well worth the views at the top.
Elaine U — Google review
Amazing scenic views from the mountain tops. Lifts to the top are frequent however at peak times you can be waiting a while in the queue leading up to it. Staff operating the lifts are friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful restaurant, coffee shop and gift shop at the top too
Kelsie T — Google review
A must do views where fantastic although a little bit windy 😂 all about the layers nice little coffee/sovereign shop
Kay H — Google review
We had the most amazing and picturesque visit during our cruise stop. I’d advise to try and visit in the morning, when there’s more chance of mist and fog around as that adds to the scenery. It’s a great place to visit with the family and its wheelchair and pushchair accessible. There’s a nice cafe at the top along with a souvenir shop and cake / bakery stand. This is a must visit if you’ve never been.

A charming and beautifully preserved wooden church dating back to 1759—stepping inside feels like stepping back in time. The Old Olden Church is full of history and character, with its timber walls, traditional pews, and simple yet graceful design. Surrounded by a peaceful graveyard and dramatic mountain views, it's a serene spot that invites quiet reflection. This charming Church dates back to 1759! It's no longer an active Parish, but you're of course very welcome to still worship there, and it's really quite somewhere to do so. The Church is quite secluded and it feels rather surreal when you step inside, almost abandoned, like you've discovered something untouched for years and being so remote, it's so peaceful 😌
