Points of Interest & Landmarks
Hilltop Hindu temple featuring a colourful tower & ornate stone carvings, plus panoramic city views.
Fantastic place to visit. I love this 💕 due to its location and the architecture brilliance. This temple is located on a hill top with good roads but narrow roads. They charge you ₹30 for cars and ₹20 for bikes. Lengthy vehicles are not allowed so try to use cars or bikes. There is a lot of parking space available in the open parking place so be mindful about the time of visit. This temple is open until 2:00 pm in the afternoon and reopens after 4:00 pm. There is not much of a crowd and it will take approx. 1 hour to complete the entire temple visit. Unless there are any pooja ongoing. A special Q was available at a cost of ₹25 but still free Q itself is a better option to live with. Take some food if required as you won't find many options on the hill top. No monkey menace when we visited so I hope nothing to worry about monkeys. Refer the images for more information. Must visit places at least once if you get a chance to go around this place.

Visited on weekday late morning Not much of crowd. So dharisanam was peaceful Reaching the hill top was Quick and easy if you have 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler Parking space is available in plenty. Not much of waiting time anywhere But it could change on weekends or auspicious days. The new white reflective paint on the outer walkway area is a blessing saves us from the hot surface while walking Temple and the hill top view is so peaceful best time would be morning before 9 and evening from 5 so you can avoid the scorching heat. Monkeys are there and they look for food People are still feeding monkeys thinking they are being kind but actually they are making their life miserable it's very sad to see their condition.

This temple situated in hill top and its triple treat journey whether we were thrill to drive in mountains like mini kodaikaanal, viewpoints and Arthenareeswarar temple. it's worth to visit and treat for our mind and as well as eyes
Kanivel P — Google review
The Arthanareeswarar temple in Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, is indeed a highly significant and renowned hill temple in the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu. Its unique aspect lies in its presiding deity, Arthanareeswarar, a combined form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, depicting half male and half female. This representation symbolizes the ultimate unity of masculine and feminine energies, the inseparability of Shiva and Shakti, and the concept of balance and equality in the universe. The temple is considered one of the oldest in the region, with inscriptions on its walls suggesting it might be around 2000 years old. It is also one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams, highly revered Shiva temples glorified in the Thevaram hymns composed by the Saivite saints, notably Thirugnanasambanthar. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and then from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The hill road to reach the temple is accessible only until 5:45 PM; after that, vehicle entry is restricted. Sometimes, the free queue for darshan gets jammed because devotees at the front spend a long time praying before the deity, which can inconvenience others and prevent them from spending sufficient time inside the shrine.
Arunbhaarat — Google review
Wonderful experience in travel to the temple towards the hill track and return. Waiting for a hour for Swamy Daridhan due to Swami Alangaaram. One of my best experiences in my pilgrimage tour.
Manogran K — Google review
The temple’s up on a hill, and the whole place feels really calm and peaceful — it’s got that quiet, spiritual vibe. We didn’t have to wait at all, which was nice. Just a quick heads-up: there are monkeys everywhere — outside, inside, all over — so keep an eye on your stuff! Parking’s easy, and they only charge ₹20 for cars. This temple is mainly known for rituals related to Rahu-Ketu dosha, so a lot of people come specifically for that. Overall a must visit temple if you’re around Coimbatore, Erode or on the way.
Pravin K — Google review
I recently visited Arthanareeswarar Temple in Thiruchengode and felt a deep sense of peace. The hilltop location, ancient architecture, and powerful deity make it a special place. The steps are a bit challenging but worth it for the serene darshan and breathtaking views. A must-visit temple in Tamil Nadu.”
Vaishnavi G — Google review
A very good temple, i love it! Peaceful and very powerful. Must visit place. If you have own vehicle , you have a good road and ample parking space on hills. Also you have temple buses which takes you from city to hill top. If you want to see Nagaraja (photo i have attached) then you have small road which reaches to that place directly from city(please do ask the locals they will help you)

So please visit minimum 4 to 5 members for your safety. Take water minimum 2 litres.
Mr C — Google review
I drove from Bangalore to Sankagiri just to trek this awesome hill on an early Sept 2025. I am 63 years old and it is as usual, my Solo trek. No risks, no wild animals, only aggressive monkeys in the hill. Starting the trek at 6.30am, the starting point of the hill altitude measured 340Mtrs on my altimeter. Beautiful ancient temples at the base and along the hill, all closed! Steep, tree covered trek trail requires to carry good amount of water to keep hydrated, and a good trekking pole to keep the aggressive monkeys away. The highest point of the hill measures about 725M, and took me about 2 hours hiking with many stops along the trail to capture beautiful scenes along. Good to hike early morning; as the day advances the heat & humidity gets high. Parking available at base. No fees for going to the hill. Gate opens at 6am, closes by 5.30pm. Lots of plastic trash left behind by some of our visitors all along the trek trail 😡

Sankari Fort is a peaceful historic gem! Beautiful views, calm atmosphere, and rich history make it a perfect spot for nature lovers and explorers. The climb is refreshing, and the view from the top is simply worth it! 🌄✨ comeback before 5.30 if you late they didnt open gate
SHIFIN M — Google review
A day worth through the history and helpful fitness climb. A moderate climb of almost 2.5 kms 80 minutes through the steepy rock steps towards the top. Remains of a history you will find in every step.. Keep your bags intact as monkeys may snatch. Keep enough water and energy bars to keep yourself in shape.
Hisham S — Google review
This is a hidden gem near Salem. You can see an well built fort in the foot of the hill and enjoy a nice hike to the top of the hill to visit a temple. Also see the beautiful serial view of sangagiri town. Must visit.
Rahulsuresh — Google review
Amazing please to visit, that fort consist of both historical and normal mountain feel. Through out the duration trekking is 1- 1.45 hour for our capability.many beautiful places though out the trekking. Some of view points also there. The fort gives " walk through the jungle" feel. some monkeys are there top of the port. Trekking time is morning 9-5.30 after 5.30 entrance will be close .
Krish_ A — Google review
This is a historic gem standing tall with amazing panoramic views from the top. The climb is quite steep and can be tiring but totally worth it for the scenery and old fort walls. However, be cautious of monkeys along the path; they can be mischievous, especially if you carry food. Safety-wise, there are no guards or facilities, so go prepared with water and proper shoes. A peaceful yet adventurous place for history and nature lovers! Be respectful and please don't litter

1008 Shiva & Rajarajeshwari Temple Salem

Mentioned on
7 lists
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
The 1008 Shiva Temple in Salem is a Hindu temple complex dedicated to Shiva, featuring an array of 1008 identical Nandi statues carved from stone. The main highway runs close by, but the temple can only be reached at the top of the hill. In addition to the impressive lingas and nandis, there are also other allied group temples such as Perumal Temple.
Nestled in the serene surroundings of Ariyanoor, near Salem, the 1008 Lingam Temple offers an ideal escape for those seeking peace, silence, and spiritual rejuvenation. Surrounded by lush greenery and well-maintained natural beauty, this sacred site invites visitors into a tranquil journey of devotion and inner calm. The walk to the top of the mountain is both refreshing and reflective, with every curve of the pathway lined with Shiv Lingas and Nandi statues. Along the way, you’ll encounter various deities that enrich the spiritual atmosphere — from Lord Ganesha welcoming you at the entrance, to temples dedicated to Lord Rama, Jai Hanuman, Lord Shiva with Subramanyam, and the powerful Shakthi Devi. The entire trail is embraced by green plants and tall trees, adding to the sense of serenity. At the summit, a majestic 17-meter statue of Sri Umayambigai Sametha Sri Arunachala Sundareswara overlooks the hills, offering not just panoramic views but a deeply calming presence. The peaceful ambiance and sacred energy make this temple a perfect destination for those wishing to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with their inner self.
Pranurish Z — Google review
About the temple It’s a relatively modern temple (built around 2010) under the care of the Vinayaka Mission. It has 1008 Shiva lingams arranged such that 1007 surround a central lingam, with a statue of Nandi in front. On the hilltop, the main shrine houses Sri Umaiyambigai Samedha Sri Arunachala Sundareswara. The temple is located on Salem’s bypass road, in Ariyanoor, about 14 km from Salem city centre. Timings There is some variation in reported timings. Here are the credible ones: According to Salem district’s official temple list: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tamil Nadu Tourism brochure also lists the same timings: 7:30 am–12:30 pm & 4:00 pm–8:00 pm Some sources say it opens from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (for general viewing) One devotional blog suggests 5:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm From TripAdvisor Q&A: for main deity pooja, best between 9:00 am–11:00 am and 5:00 pm–8:00 pm Given these, the official timings (7:30 am–12:30 pm, 4:00 pm–8:00 pm) seem most reliable. Best time to visit Morning (soon after opening) is ideal: cooler, quieter, less crowded. Evening is also pleasant, especially during dusk, when the light and surroundings are serene. The winter months (November to February) are often recommended as the best time to visit (milder weather) Avoid midday in hot months, as heat and direct sun may make the walk up less comfortable
Sharath S — Google review
A Serene and Divine Discovery in Salem !! I truly regret having missed this divine place during my previous travels through Salem. This is a serene and peaceful location, nestled amidst nature and adorned with numerous Shiva Lingas, offering a truly calming and spiritually enriching experience. The temple provides convenient car parking with two options. You can either park at the bottom and enjoy a peaceful walk up the small hill, or take the Vinayaka Missions entrance to drive directly to the top. I highly recommend starting from the bottom, parking your vehicle, and beginning your ascent from the Vinayagar shrine. This place is a beautiful confluence of faiths, featuring shrines for all in one location. The atmosphere is incredibly calm and divine, filling you with a sense of tranquility and good vibes. When you're traveling through Salem, I urge you to take the time to visit this spot. You will be pleasantly surprised by the breathtaking views and the powerful, positive energy of the place.
Balaji M — Google review
A serene spiritual experience perched on a hill, this temple features an enchanting walkway lined with 1008 Shiva lingams and Nandi statues. The complex is clean, well-maintained, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding greenery. The ascent is pleasant whether you walk or drive, and the inner sanctum has a powerful aura. Some visitors note minor upkeep issues, but overall it’s a must-visit for those seeking peace and devotion.
Shivani P — Google review
Peaceful, unique, and beautifully laid out. Walking the pathway past row after row of Shiva lingams with a majestic central sanctum feels meditative—even on a busy day. The campus is clean, signage is clear, and darshan usually moves smoothly. Families and seniors will appreciate the benches and shaded stretches; kids get excited spotting the numbered lingams. What I liked: calm priests, tidy prakarams, and the satisfying “parikrama” loop where you can complete a quiet round of prayer without jostle. Plenty of photo-worthy angles in the open courtyard (avoid the sanctum for photos). Good to know: mornings and late evenings are cooler; afternoons can be hot in the open areas—carry water. Parking is straightforward near the entrance. Dress modestly, and keep small change/UPI handy for archana/prasadam. Tip: do one slow clockwise round touching each pillar/lingam cluster with your right hand—it turns the visit into a mindful walk. Secret tip: after the main darshan, stand a few minutes at the far end of the courtyard and look back toward the central shrine—the symmetry of the 1008 lingams lining up to the sanctum is the most serene frame of the temple. 🙏
Dinesh P — Google review
1008 Lingam Temple near Salem is a must-visit when traveling from Chennai to Coimbatore or Ooty. It’s a really big temple — walking inside itself takes more than 30 minutes. The unique part is that it’s a drive-in temple, you can take your vehicle inside and go around for darshan. Very peaceful, clean, and well maintained with a beautiful hill view.”
Devaprasad S — Google review
1008 Shiva Linga & Rajarajeshwari temple is a deeply spiritual and serene temple located on a tranquil hillside in Ariyanur near Salem Tamilnadu. The main attraction is the truly unique collection of 1008 Shiva lingams. Each lingam is accompanied by its own Nandi, creating a visually stunning spectacle. The location is also accessible via public transport from Salem's New Bus Stand it takes around 20 minutes to reach on a very reasonable fare of just 11 INR one way.

Aspusious day during No moon day, full moon day and Fridays. Morning 7am may be less rush. Tamil people know marugu. Prayers to this god for marugu will be healed with proper belief. Positive vibe place to workship. Lord Vinayagar, murugar (in small hill), lord Shiva and goddess amman are in separate temples in this locations. Before worshipping lord Shiva, theertham from the well and after workshipping lord Shiva putting salt in the well.

Kancha malai : kalanginathar siddhar temple at the food hills of kancha malai. One of the finest temple surrounded with so many natural wells. Very calm place surrounded by hills and a nice peaceful temple for salem locals. Could not visit the hill top where kalanginatha siddhar did meditation. Kalanginatha siddhar student of Thirumoolar came to kanchamalai in search of some herbal along with his guru Thirumoolar. Thirumoolar asked his disciple to cook food and gone for bath. While cooking rice, he could not find any utensil to mix and hence broke the branch of nearby tree and mixed the rice. After some time the rice becomes black and fearing his guru he ate all the cooked food. He become very young and when his guru Thirumoolar enquired about his disciple he narrated the incident. Thirumoolar immediately understood the branch of the tree is Kaya kalpa and with that a person can live young for years. It is believed even now that this hill has several herbs and the locals take bath in the natural wells on the belief that it has curative powers.

Lady's Seat, Gent's Seat and Children's Seat are the names given to a group of rocks located on the Yercaud Hills of Salem District, Tamilnadu, These are present in the form of a seat, which overlooks the Salem town and ghat road. The Lady' Seat has derived its name from a set of rocks made naturally. It is believed that an English lady used to spend her evenings at this place watching the beautiful view from this rock. In addition, the place also houses a viewing tower, which is equipped with a telescope so as to enjoy the beautiful view of Mettur Dam and Salem town. This viewing tower is open for visitors only during the daytime. For those interested in a closer view, there's a mounted telescope. Swing it to your extreme right to see the Mettur Dam on the Cauvery River. Great shots of the river can be had from this spot in the late afternoon when the sun's rays are reflected in its waters.

View point is good better thab pagoda view point. It was decent compared to ladies seat but they charge 50rs for no reason.

The view is spectacular. The breeze was so cold . You have a botanical garden, children's seat, and the lady's seat nearby.

It was a nice experience to see the Salem city from such a great height. The wind was blowing perfectly matching the vibrance of gents seat. More than the view I loved the journey from bottom to top how peacefully we crossed those rounded road and reached the peak. I suggest to come here on scooty or bike for better experience.

Located just 3 km from Emerald Lake, the Botanical Garden in Yercaud is a serene spot for nature enthusiasts. While smaller than its namesake in Ooty, it boasts a variety of plant species and well-kept paths for leisurely strolls. Visitors can admire the lush flora, including an orchid garden and greenhouse, while enjoying views of Yercaud's streets, coffee estates, and gardens from watch towers.
A refreshing and peaceful place to visit! I had a pleasant experience at the Botanical Garden in Yercaud. It's a well-maintained and quiet spot, perfect for nature lovers. The variety of plants and the green surroundings make it a nice place to walk around and relax. Great for a short visit if you're exploring Yercaud. Worth a stop!
Mohan N — Google review
Good place to stroll around. Maintenance is somewhat fine. You can sit and relax here like a picnic spot. It has a good view point too. It's a botanical garden yet I couldn't see any plants or trees tagged with its scientific name, botanical name and other details. Parking facility available. You need to pay 40 or 50rs as an entry ticket (i don't remember the exact amount).
Suresh S — Google review
Botanical Garden @ Yercaud Maintained by the government, and they’re doing a good job keeping it clean and well-organized. Roses are fewer during summer due to the heat, but you can buy rose plants directly from the garden, which is a nice touch for plant lovers. Entry Fee: Rs. 50 It’s a lovely spot for couple photo shoots. DSLR photography is available, and they charge Rs. 200 for an A4-size print. The garden is quite spacious, and nearby viewpoints like Ladies Seat and Gents Seat make it a scenic 1.5 to 2 km walk in total. Tip: Senior citizens may want to skip this due to the walking involved. Carry water bottles if visiting in summer.
Gurukishore M — Google review
While the Botanical Garden offers a vast space for a pleasant morning or evening stroll, it might feel a bit underwhelming if you visit during the off-season. The sheer size of the park makes it a great spot for exercise, but the lack of diverse flora or special exhibits during certain times of the year can make it seem like a normal park. It's highly probable that the best time to visit is during a specific season when the flowers are in bloom, which would transform the park into a vibrant and colorful spectacle. The availability of ample parking is a definite plus, making it convenient for visitors to drive in. Overall, it's a good place for a peaceful walk or a run, but it's advisable to check for the blooming season before you go to truly appreciate the garden's potential.
Saravana K — Google review
Not the right flower season but nice place to go around with family friends, take a round and spend time for a beautiful walk. Play area for kids available inside. Mostly cloudy season but pretty much lovely place. Come and enjoy the nature
Venkatesh R — Google review
Flowering plants are very less for the entry fee charged. Has a small glass house. Apart from this, you can drive up to a view point within the gardens, which was very quiet and serene as there was no one else on the weekday.
Varun S — Google review
It's waste. There is nothing to see inside. It is a horticulture area of government of Tamil Nadu. Ticket fee is 30 rupees which is not worth it. Literally nothing inside. For parking they charge 50 rupees, it's better to park outside only.

This place was too good. It has a bridge under which boats pass by. It has kids play area seperately where adults can play by paying 100 rs. It has many swings (for both adults and kids). It had washroom which was not so clean . Balloon shooting and some chats shop are present inside . One can just sit and enjoy the calm place or go play around in the park. Entrance fee is 10 rupees per person

A small but beautiful park nearby Yercaud Lake. There is few slides & swings to keep your kids busy as well as good seating for elders to relax. We can see the lake and boating area from here. The place is full of trees making it a good place to visit anytime of the day. Restrooms are available. Ticket rates were 20rs for adults & 10rs fir children.

Decently maintained park where one could leasurily spend time seeing people boating in the lake . Children play area and seating arrangement for Elders available. Restroom facilities are ok . Tickets are reasonably priced. Nice sit outside are made inside the park ( the best part is the bridge to crossover the lake and enter into eco park ) . Paid activities are also available for persons upto 18 years.

In an very immediate place next to Boat house entry. We can enjoy the Lake view while we sit and relax under the trees. Tickets=Camera and Adults its Rs.20/- I believe they should more amenities for children to play around and well functioning restroom with 3 to 4 water taps around
Dinesh ( — Google review
Eatables are not allowed. Even drinking water not allowed in plastic bottles, even if it is a resusable water bottle. You have to purchase unknown quality water in glass bottle at the entrance. Nothing justifying the entrance fee available inside the park. You have to purchase another ticket for the adventure area. Expect rude behaving staff here also, as in every spot in Yercaud.
Thaseem Y — Google review
With entry fees , one may ask question - why to visit this park ? Deer Park is an island Park , with water all around. To enter park, one has to use a wooden bridge. You will he greeted by a big enclosure of 3 peacock and 2 peahen, roaming in and around their quiet big cage, followed by rabbits and guiney pigs. Then on left hand side, you can see spotted dear, because of which ,it's called deer Park . There is also an area whee you can get a good view of lake in front, with people ⛵ around. On moving further , you can see swings and chairs, to enjoy fresh air of park .

This is one of the better places to check out in Yercaud. The park is small, but it’s got enough to keep kids happy with a play area, water fountain, flowers, and even a glass house. Since it’s right in the center of town, it’s easy to reach and worth spending some time here with your family. The only letdown is the restroom, it was in pretty bad shape and really needs proper maintenance. Other than that, it’s a nice spot to relax and let kids enjoy.

Waterfalls
Kiliyur Falls is a 91-meter waterfall in Yercaud, accessible via a steep forested hiking path. During the peak flow after the monsoon season, it's recommended to visit early and plan for about 2 hours to explore. The trek involves descending approximately 500 steps, so it may not be suitable for everyone. There are parking facilities available, and visitors should keep an eye on children due to the natural terrain.
had a great time in the falls with family and kids enjoyed. dont miss this place going to yercaud. it is around 4 km from yercaud lake , you can go by auto or own vehicle, parking space is small where it will be difficult during season time. and have to walk for around 250steps down to see the falls
Raje R — Google review
Ok to reach the fall, you have to go down along the mountain side. The down and up walk is not for everyone, specially if you have senior people or people with breathing issues. When we reached the bottom to the waterfall, half of us were having trembling legs. The waterfall in itself is pretty but it was very crowded..maybe due to it being Sunday.
Dhirendra K — Google review
Please read the review completely before visiting this place. Its definitely a must visit falls in Yercaud but with caveats. You will need to go down 250 steps (yes, we counted) to reach the falls. The fun part is we thought the ascent might be the problem but we, both in our early 30s, started having shaky legs just after going down around 200 steps. Thankfully there is a shop by a lovely lady there and she has glucose drinks and snacks etc. We got two drinks and thats when we got a little stable. So if you are travelling, please have some glucose drinks, juices, sweets, water, towel, slippers etc handy. Please ensure you dont dispose any waste plastics or other items. Lets be mindful of the environment. There are also monkeys there so if you are having eatables, be very careful. Please also check if there is water in the falls in advance, depending on what time of the year you visit. If you are travelling with elders, please consider the the travel down and then up very carefully. People with knee pain etc might find it very difficult. The route is also a little narrow. Once you reach the falls, all that hard work is worth it. There were people standing right under the falls and some who were sitting on the sides. Its a bit slippery and hence need to be really careful. As is all waterfalls, if you are traveling during rainy seasons, be very careful of sudden water flows. There is ample parking available and its paid. They charge around 50. Wouldnt say it very well maintained but still works. There might also be some paid services that take you to the bottom of the falls in a jeep. Please check if you would want to explore that as well
Abin R — Google review
Such a splendid waterfall hidden deep in the woods of Yercaud! The place is completely calm and peaceful. You can take a walk from the lake to the falls if you enjoy strolling. The experience was truly extraordinary. It wasn’t very crowded. The best time to visit is early in the morning. We went around 6 a.m., took a bath in the falls, and came back. No entry tickets are required; charges apply only for vehicles.
Joshua — Google review
This waterfall is located in a deep forest and a good downhill trekking is required to reach the fall. The steps are big and uneven at places. There's also an option to take the jeep ride to and fro which in itself is a solid thrilling off-roading experience at just Rs. 100 per person. The waterfall was just average.
AA — Google review
View and Ambience: The waterfall offers a decent and refreshing view, surrounded by greenery and a peaceful natural vibe. It’s a nice spot to relax for a while and take photos. Accessibility: Reaching the falls is relatively easy, but the return journey can be quite challenging. The climb back involves a steep set of steps that require good stamina and physical fitness. Suitability: Not recommended for elderly visitors or those with heart conditions, as the steep ascent can be physically demanding. Overall Experience: A decent nature spot with a decent view, best suited for those who enjoy a bit of adventure and don’t mind a tough climb on the way back. Happy exploration! The Falls was good. You have to take 200 steps to reach the Falls. The path the Falls takes will be too steep and should be careful while going down. Inbetween the steel steps placed was not maintained properly and was broken in between.

Nestled in the picturesque Yercaud hills, Shevaroyan Temple is a captivating site located inside a cave. The temple holds cultural and spiritual significance for locals and offers a serene and cool environment. Visitors can enjoy sweeping panoramas of the surrounding hills and forests from this hill station temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Accessible from Salem via Yercaud, the temple provides breathtaking views of the valley, making it an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts.
Highest point of Yercaud . Temple is located at the top of 3 km climb hill . Roads neatly paved . Best view from top of the hill . Best place for sunrise and sunset . Ample amount of car and bike parking. Highly recommend place

Shevaroyan Temple is one of the must-visit spots in Yercaud, not just for its spiritual significance, but mainly for the stunning views it offers. Located at the highest point in Yercaud, this place gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding hills, valleys, and dense forests. The best time to visit is during the evening—especially around sunset. As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the sky turns into a canvas of golden, orange, and pink hues. The cool mountain breeze, peaceful atmosphere, and the expansive view make it a magical experience. It's one of those rare places where nature truly takes center stage. There is a parking area available, though they do collect parking charges. The area is quite spacious, which is a plus. That said, it's a bit surprising to see parking fees being collected at a natural and spiritual site like this. Overall, if you're in Yercaud, don't miss Shevaroyan Temple—come for the temple, stay for the views, and leave with a sense of calm and awe.

It’s divine place. Cave temple. I don’t know it’s true or not person inside in the cave temple there is a cave route behind the statue which to lead to thalaivasal. Nice drive to hill top, good view point, you can get local grown spices, herb soup is must try. Overall is good

What a peaceful escape! This temple sits beautifully atop a hill with stunning views all around. The atmosphere is incredibly calming - fresh air, tranquil surroundings, and a genuinely devotional vibe that refreshes your spirit. Perfect destination for both family outings and trips with friends. - Parking: Vast space available, very convenient - Entry: ₹10 for car (very reasonable) - Safety: Well-maintained and secure premises The area around the temple has numerous vadai and bajji shops - great for a quick snack after darshan! Highly recommended for anyone seeking spiritual peace with scenic beauty. The hilltop location adds to the divine experience.

I like to walk on this vast expanse of flat ground. It's so breezy. The sunset was great This is turning out to be the go-to place for open drinking as evidenced by the numerous alcohol bottles and plastic cups strewn around. Dicky- bars are the in thing and it is not safe anymore to go out with women and children. Will the Yercaud Municipality think of cleaning up the place. Even the dustbin provided are overflowing. Will the Police atleast prevent public drinking in open spaces

One of the best view point in yercaud is shevaroyan temple view. U have very ancit temple with cave. After that view point and Thantoori Tea, games, and dont miss the soup near by temple . Which is avilable only in yercaud. Taste like goat leg soup.
Panneer S — Google review
This temple is located atop a serene hill, offering a peaceful and silent atmosphere. It is best to visit on non peak days or avoid public holidays to truly enjoy the tranquility. Early mornings and evenings are ideal to experience cool breeze. This temple is dedicated to vishnu (perumal) and one unique aspect is the cave where devotees bend down and offer their prayers. Overall it is a beautiful and spiritually uplifting place to visit.
Uma S — Google review
It's a pleasant experience visiting this temple on every trip to Yercaud. I usually visit on my last day while returning. You can get nice clicks on the view point to which you can drive up to. If you are with family, no need to walk all the way. Sadly our beloved fellow Indians throw all kinds of garbage in that place from plastics to glass bottles. Something to be cautious about if you are with kids. The temple experience is pleasant and if you are tall at 6ft like me you have to crouch a bit to get in the cave. Nevertheless, it's a great place to visit.

Lookouts
Karadiyur View Point in Yercaud is a serene and picturesque spot that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Accessible by vehicle, the last stretch of road may be challenging for two-wheelers during the rainy season. The viewpoint features a covered platform, a small well-maintained garden, and benches where visitors can relax and enjoy packed lunches. With an entry fee of 20Rs per person, it's an affordable destination for nature lovers and photographers.
A very beautiful and scenic place — absolutely worth visiting! The view is stunning, and the spot is well-maintained, making it a great place to spend some peaceful time amidst nature. However, the road leading to this location is in poor condition, which makes the journey quite difficult. It would be great if some attention is given to improving the access route. Also, please note that the ticket charges are only for the viewpoint and not for the road — which is disappointing considering how bad the road is. That said, the location itself is definitely a hidden gem. With better accessibility, this could easily become a top tourist spot!
HEMALATHA R — Google review
The viewpoint itself is quite good and offers a nice place to relax. There is a small park and public toilets available, which adds to convenience. However, parking space is very limited, and some roads leading to the viewpoint are narrow, so drivers should be cautious. An entry fee is collected a few kilometers before reaching the spot, which visitors should be aware of. Overall, it’s a nice viewpoint for a short visit
Arun K — Google review
Karadioor viewpoint is a small but scenic spot, worth visiting once. However, the road to get there is quite bumpy. The viewpoint itself is compact, but there's a nearby park where you can relax and grab refreshments from small shops. It's a quick stop rather than a long-term destination, but the views are enjoyable.
Jenifer D — Google review
Karadiyur View Point is located around 5 kilometers from the famous Servarayan Hills in Yercaud. While the distance might not sound far, the journey felt a bit long, mainly because certain stretches of the road are still under construction and not in the best condition. So, be prepared for a slightly bumpy ride. Upon arrival, there's a small entry fee of ₹20 per person, which is quite reasonable. The area has a nice park with good greenery and some basic recreational activities. The view from the viewpoint itself is quite peaceful and scenic, especially if you’re someone who enjoys quiet spots away from the usual tourist crowd near the lake. It’s a good choice for those who’ve already explored the more popular areas in Yercaud and are looking for something different. One added bonus is that there are local photographers offering quick photo prints at affordable rates—starting from ₹50 to ₹300, depending on the size and type. Overall, it’s worth a visit if you want to unwind and capture some nice moments in a calm setting.

Shri Chennaraya Swamy (Perumal) Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nestled in the charming town of Adhiyaman Kottai, just 7 km from Dharmapuri along the Salem road, lies the Shri Chennaraya Swamy (Perumal) Temple. This ancient Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and boasts a rich history linked to the Hoysala and Vijayanagar empires, particularly under King Krishnadevaraya.
Awesome temple that dates back to the 12th century. Managed by ASI. Amist trree and gross carpet. Maintained well. great to see Many students studying .
Saravanan N — Google review
Very serene and beautiful place in Dharmapuri. It is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India, so there is lush greenery and cleanliness. Ample space for parking. Visit the temple and have food at Sai Sangeet nearby. Makes a full rounded outing.

One of the oldest and historically significant temples, the Chenraya Perumal Temple, is a Hindu temple located in the town of Adhiyaman Kottai, 7 km from Dharmapuri on the Salem road. Dedicated to Vishnu, it is believed to have been constructed by the Hoysala and Vijayanagar kings, with the most prominent being Krishnadevaraya. Many buses are available from Dharmapuri town to Adhiyaman Kottai, and the temple is just 0.5 km from the Adhiyaman Kottai bus stop…! The temple is maintained neatly and is a good place for studying and preparing for competitive exams without any disturbances..!!

CHENNARAYA PERUMAL TEMPLE - Athiyamaan Kottai – Dharmapuri – Tamilnadu. Chennamma Naicker a cowherd by profession, who lived during the period of King Krishna Deva Raya of the Vijayanagara dynasty, was returning home one day after gracing his cows. He found one cow missing and on searching for the same he found the cow, and to his utter astonishment, the cow was feeding a child with milk from its udder. The cow which had not delivered a calf till date, feeding milk to a child was a strange sight, and he presumed it could be only a form of divine intervention. The boy summoned Chennamma Naicker and gave him Darshan as Lord Maha Vishnu.(Perumal). The Lord told Chennamma that he wished to stay in the hills and asked Chennamma to build a Temple for him. As lord Mahavishnu came to his Devotee, he is known as Chendru(Devotee) Aiya(Lord), which got corrupted to Chenraya Perumal. The Temple was in existence pre Hoysala and Vijayanagara Kingdoms. It is in a place called Athiyamaan Kottai(Fort built by King Athiyamaan) today. However, the stone structure seems to have been built by the Hoysala’s around the 13th Century. Later it passed on to the Vijayanagara kingdom. King Krishna Deva Raya seems to have visited the Temple. The temple has a Mukhadwaram without a Gopuram(Tower), which leads into a rectangular courtyard. On entrance is the Balipeetham, Dhwaja Sthambam, and a small sanctum for Garuda facing Lord Mahavishnu. In the courtyard is the main temple consisting of the Mukhamandapam, Ardhamandapam & the Garbhagriha which has a Vimana. On the vimana is an erotic scene as found in Khajuraho. The presiding deity is Lord Mahavishnu with his consorts Shridevi & Bhudevi. The images are of a size of 4 to 5 feet. The Mukhmandapam is an art galore of painting naturally died on the ceiling, depicting the lores of Mahabharata, Ramayana and Lord Mahavishnu showing his Vishwaroopam, with the entire living and nonliving etched on his body signifying the preserver of Life forms. The paintings are also highlighted in Kannada script. The temple came into the influence of King Athiyamaan Neduman Anji. Athiyamaan must have been a great King, whose annals are lost in history books and needs much more attention. The King ruled from a place called Thagadoor, which is the modern day Dharmapuri in Tamilnadu, but his residence was in Adhiyamaan Fort about 8 Kms from Dharmapuri. He was one of the 7 greatest Donors amongst the dynasties of Tamilnadu. The Athiyamaan dynasty ruled from Thagadoor atleast from the 3rd Century CE. The dynasty is also known as “Satyaputra’s”, the Clan of Truth. Rock inscriptions of the Sangam period, The Ashoka Edicts, the inscriptions of Jambai, modern day Tirukoilur mention about their sovereignty starting from 1st century CE.

Its very old ancient temole maintain in dharmapuri called thagadur.... we can see around dharmapuri some century beyong places, history available.. among that one of the most important temple was theerthagirswarar temple.... A goddess kamashi located 16 feet above ground level is one of the spl and respect for goddess showns in this place... We would admire while watching the art of temple kopuram...
Mohana S — Google review
It is a comparatively a lesser known temple but a rare temple where the Ambal sannidhi is placed higher than Lord Shiva's sannidhi. While millions of devotees are going around Lord Shiva during every Pradosham, in this temple, Lord Shiva goes around the Ambal on that day. A must visit temple for all the Hindus.

The friendly staff ensures that your stay is comfortable while you indulge in various thrilling activities like zip lining, rain dancing, and net cricket. Last month we stayed at this resort with family. It was an incredible experience filled with excitement and thrill. This resort offers a wide variety of adventurous activities for youngsters and very safe rides for children. Most of the activities are tied in the coconut trees and special bull cart ride is also available. The guides were professional, knowledgeable, and made safety a priority, which made me feel secure throughout each activity. Day time out package also available at this resort which includes food, rainwater showering and swimming pool access. Accommodation: The rooms were spacious, clean, and offered stunning views of the surrounding nature. Food: The food was another highlight. Most of the cuisines are covered for Indians with outdoor movie screening at night. Customer Service: The staff were friendly, always willing to help, and ensured that all guests had a comfortable and memorable experience. Overall: If you're looking for an adrenaline-filled vacation with beautiful accommodations and excellent service, CS Grand Adventure Theme Park and resorts* is the perfect destination. Highly recommended for adventurers and nature lovers alike. Especially for corporate events.

We went to this above resort for just relaxation but it was absolutely awful experience.. Just want to share here if management can consider it will be great Rooms: we opted for a wooden tree house. Room was quite good in looking but the maintenance and service was very poor. The fun was very slow running and they provide a table fan, the sound of table fan could undoubtedly beat the helicopter sound. Then there is a led small light in the ac which can not turn off it will show directly to your face.. just imagine how could we sleep peacefully that night one of the horrible experience Food- Definitely the management should focus on the restaurant because none of the items were good in taste.. Service- From the beginning of the booking itself service is not good.. The lady who spoke over call for reservation is very irresponsible and she didn’t provide any interest to take the booking.. The restaurant people also not good.. For evening snack they asked us what do u required then we discussed and said onion bajji but he provide nuggets then why the hell he suppose to ask?? Plz improve these suggestions and provide better service

The best place to spend a weekend with your family and friends. The food is great, they have large set of activities and cool swimming pool. Their Suite room was excellent and we had a great time. The only thing is they if u go Little late to the food, most of items were gone in the buffet. They need to plan based how many guests they have accommodated so this can be better. Other wise it's was great for weekend spend.

We recently visited CS Grand resort from Chennai and stayed there for a night. We had a very pleasant experience. The environment is serene, peaceful and pollution free. The staff are very friendly and courteous. They have a lot of adventure activities such as zip lining, hammocks, rain dance, net cricket, indoor games, bullock cart ride and banquet hall. The food is simple and tasty. Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated. The swimming pool is kid friendly, 4 feet in depth and is clean. They also have dormitories which can accommodate 20-25 members. It is certainly a welcome change away from busy city life. So if you’re looking for a weekend outing with your families, friends or an official team outing, CS grand will definitely offer what you’re looking for and much more! Note- Alcohol is NOT allowed within the premises.

Temple dedicated to the god Hanuman, with a ritual where devotees make wishes on coconuts.
A divine and powerful place. The temple is famous for tying coconut.it is believed that Swami Anjeenayar will fulfill your wishes within three months if you pray and tie a coconut in the temple. The temple has a separate shrine for Venkatramana perumal too.

Powerful hanuman temple where you buy coconut for 100 rupees and have to give inside for archanai. Once you receive it, do 11 rounds around and deposit back. All your wishes will come true. They give you a number too with a receipt and which you can come back after 90days once your prayers are answered. They will give you back the coconut and which you use for cooking. It Also has a Nandi which is believed to be growing. Beautiful venkatawewara sanidhanam is also there. Next to this temple, there is sani bagawan temple too. Do not miss that .

This Hanuman temple is very close to Krishnagiri Bangalore highway. We went on a Saturday and it was a decent crowd for the darshan. This is Jagrut devasthan and it is believed that your wish will be answered. Lot of devotees perform a ritual to fulfil the wish. The coconut is offered to Hanuman and the devotee completes 11 pradakshina holding the same coconut chanting Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram. Once the pradakshina completes the coconut is kept in the temple. If your wish is completed you have to visit temple and if it's within 3 months you can get the same coconut by giving the token you get when you first buy the coconut. The temple is super clean and they offer the prasadam. Parking is on the road but you can easily get a place.

Great experience to visit here in Krishnagiri Tamil Nadu and I love here it is peaceful place, Temp is great place and also lots of helpful people I feel relieved and relaxed here as it so soothing and sitting in temple and mediation is great.
Piyush S — Google review
We have visited here recently. Even though we've visited other Jain temples hundreds of times before, the first time in our life one temple authority blocked us because we were wearing Black-jackets and Black-Tshirts. We were unaware of this No-Black rule. So we removed black colored clothes and entered the place. There are plenty of parking areas for the vehicles Once we walked and reached the temple, we could see the beautiful jain temple. Along with marbles, they also beautifully used plenty of glass decorations. While we visited many of the areas were still under construction in the outdoors. Also many flex-boards were fixed just in front of the temple, so those flex boards were ruining the beauty of the temple.
Nithin M — Google review
A beautiful temple for jains and Hindus. Huge number of small temples of Durga/Shakthi maata inside the temple building. Beautiful glass interiors. Feels great to sit and meditate. The dhoop sticks and other puja items for sale are too God. The most impressive attraction during mu visit was the lotus 🪷 pond. At least five colos of full-blown flowers are joy to eyes. The pond is small but plenty of lotus makes the ouertside special. There is a small garden is there , but closed most of time. The entire premise is getting a lot of additional constructions. I am very sure the temple will be eve more attractive in coming days and months. Jai maa Durga.🙏🙏🙏

I have visited this temple with my family and we really had a great time being there. Location is great as it’s just around 1 km from Chennai highway but quite a big temple. It’s not complete done yet in terms of its construction but you can still visit to spend time spiritual time with family. 1. Good parking space for cars 2. Avoid wearing any black clothes or carrying any black items as they are not allowed even belts 3. Road is in great condition

Good temple as far as cleanliness is considered. Very nice idols and also free lunch for all the devotees. Please keep in mind nothing of black color is allowed in the temple (not even watch strap) and also women have to go in decent clothing suit, saree etc. no frock dress etc allowed. The only concern I have is the name as it has nothing to do with real shaktipeeth.
Sam — Google review
Surreal, Serene and Self realisation moments. The temple land itself is spread across acres and houses a number of temples. The main deities are Parshwanath bhagwan and Padmavathi devi. There are various other temples. There is a gaushala also and bhojanshala. When inside the temple the eyes of Parshwanth bhagwan attracts you to a point where you completely merge into them and become closer with self!!
