WE ARRIVED ON A CRUISE SHIP AND BOOKED THROUGH AN INDEPENDENT COMPANY We booked through a company independent from our cruise ship for the shuttle ride to Loen Skylift, which was more economical than the cruise ship excursion price. It was an 'all day' ticket, so you could come and go at times you pleased, which was an advantage so you could gage the weather. LARGE GONDOLA When you arrive, you go up some stairs elevator and then present your ticket to enter the 'loading zone' to await the cable car. ("Skylift"). The cabin fits about 35 people, so be ready to be shoulder to shoulder. TERRACE, RESTAURANT, GIFT SHOP AND TRAILS Once up the top, there is a terrace roof with views over the fjord where we took several photos. There's also a lower terrace, (where we saw a lone sheep), a gift shop, restaurant and trails. We could see our cruise ship docked below. RECOMMEND NOT GOING FIRST THING IN THE DAY We were lucky to have *decent* weather in August 2025, but it was windy and cold enough for 4 layers of clothing, gloves and a hat. Fortunately, it was somewhat sunny, allowing for teal fjord waters in our photos. (See my photos). I wouldn't recommend going first thing in the morning as we noticed it seemed to take some time in most of our Norwegian ports for the weather to clear. (We were up the skylift around midday). PRICEY RESTAURANT We had some soup and hot drinks at the restaurant while we were up there to make it more of an experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with great views, but expensive. Staff are not Norwegian and the host was a bit gruff and said we could only have an hour to dine since we didn't have a reservation. (That was enough). They offered free WiFi, which is always a bonus when you're visiting from a cruise ship. WE WANDERED THE TRAILS FOR A SHORT TIME We wandered a trail for a short time (10 mins?) up to some stone stacks and came back down. It was a little uncomfortably windy and cold to do more and we didn't really know where we were going regarding taking the trails further. We could see zip-liners in the distance which looked fun. The toilets/WCs were clean and busy with tourists. They could have done with a hook on the door. The gift store had quality items. WE SPENT ABOUT 2 HRS AT THE TOP, INCLUDING LUNCH Including eating lunch at the restaurant, we spent about 2 hours at the Loen Skylift from start to finish. (Allow about an another hour to include transportation to and from the skylift from the cruise dock). THE MAIN ATTRACTION Other than walking in the town to see a few churches, a waterfall and shops, this seemed to be the main activity near the port of Olden, so I recommend it.

Amazing scenic views from the mountain tops. Lifts to the top are frequent however at peak times you can be waiting a while in the queue leading up to it. Staff operating the lifts are friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful restaurant, coffee shop and gift shop at the top too

We had the most amazing and picturesque visit during our cruise stop. I’d advise to try and visit in the morning, when there’s more chance of mist and fog around as that adds to the scenery. It’s a great place to visit with the family and its wheelchair and pushchair accessible. There’s a nice cafe at the top along with a souvenir shop and cake / bakery stand. This is a must visit if you’ve never been.

We had the best time in September... the views were breathtaking beautiful and amazing.. the cinnamon buns and hot chocolate was yummy. You have got to do this put it on your bucket list you won't regret it.

Amazing to see the glacier and surroundings here! We didn’t take the boat because it only saves you 1km (the easy part). The other 1,5-2kms you have to hike up anyway. There are stairs and ropes provided but it isn’t the easiest of hikes. Worth the effort 🌟

Amazing experience. It’s not just hiking! You may enter the glacier on your own or you can buy a trip with experience guide. If you prefer go on your own you must have crampons!

The glacier is definitely one of the most beautiful in Norway. You can hike all the way to the blue ice. About a 45min hike. Don't take the boat as it won't safe you any time as it is still another 30min walk from the pier. The best light for the blue ice is in the morning. This place gets really crowded in the summer months so come early or late.

We had a great time at this glacier trip. We booked a kayak trip and guide but if youd like to walk to the glacier ( not climb it or get too close to it) you can do it by yourself. The road to the beginning of the hike has a very small fee toll. We went with an amazing guide ( finn) and group. Even with rain and cold, this trip was unforgettable.

Fun hike and good views! However when you reach the base of the glacier, you actually see less of it. Be sure to take photos when you’re a bit further out (you can do this when returning to the parking lot).

Very nice hike! Moderate, out and back hike, suitable for families and strollers, great viewpoints of waterfalls, the glacier and a small lake. The Glacier gets smaller every year which is sad to see but still worth a visit! Took us about 45 minutes each way.

Must come! If you are lucky, you may accidentally park at the parking lot besides paid parking for free like me😂😂. I would say it is totally worth it. If you have no problem with your health, I recommend you to walk up to the glacier because there are some amazing views along the way. You can easily spend 2 or more hours taking photos and picnic there. The energy of the glacier is just magical. MUST-COME. Easy walk. 30 mins up and 30 mins back in total. Worth it!

Easy family route for all ages. Amazing view of the glaciar and glaciar lake. You can take the troll bus or walk to the view. Path is easy, you can take your trolly and family friendly. We had an amazing time. It was very windy and be prepared to have a raincoat to wear it while going through the waterfall. You will get whet.

This place is a must-visit—especially for cruise travelers. As is typical in Norway, you’ll often see rain and sunshine at the same time, so be sure to dress appropriately. If you purchase a round-trip bus ticket, you can hop on any return bus from the same company regardless of the time.

Breathtaking! Not a long walk to the glacier, 5k in total. Quicker walking back as it is downhill. So many good photo opportunities. The waterfalls are incredible. Well worth the a visit.

Our trip was truly amazing! Their goal is to take people to the most remote parts of the glacier to experience stunning natural beauty and it turned out to be exactly that, and even better. The groups are small, the guides are fantastic. They are experienced, educated, fluent in English and will make sure you are feeling safe and will provide you with crampons, ice axes, and harnesses.The glacier changes rapidly, so every hike is unique, and you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking scenery. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour. It was our first time on a glacier, and we had an amazing, impressive experience. Many thanks to our guide Michael – he was very attentive, cared about our safety, and made sure to find truly beautiful spots for us. We really enjoyed everything. The tour takes about 7 hours. The route is NOT difficult. Even someone who is not very athletic or well-trained can manage it. There is enough time to rest along the way. Everything is perfectly organized by the team.

We absolutely loved it. The guide was really nice and knowledgeable, we felt safe the whole time and we also loved that he would stop every once in a while to tell us a story (I think the real reason was for the people to rest). The explanations, the safety instructions, the boat ride made this experience 100% recommended. Amazing private glacier tour with Ole and Fjord Active! We were the only ones signed up for the glacier tour, which meant we could explore so much more than in a larger group, where things move slower. Ole guided us expertly and showed us all the hidden spots on the glacier. Walking on the glacier was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip to Norway, truly the cherry on top! What’s even more impressive is that Fjord Active is the only agency allowed to lead tours to this part of the glacier because they own the land and have the exclusive permit. Its not cheap, but worth the money! Beautiful hike too and on the gletcher. Very professional guide (Nanna), she knows a lot about the gletcher and takes time for the tourists.

Incredible experience! Would recommend everyone who wants to do a glacier hike in Norway! Our guide Marcus was very experienced and explained the whole tour, the equipment and the facts about the glacier very professional. He was very caring that everyone felt safe. We started with a 20min boat ride. After we had a 1.5h walk to the point where we got our glacier equipment (clamps, ice axe, harness). Fro there it was about 15min to the edge of the glacier where we began walking on the ice for around 2 hours. On the way back we also got some coffee and hot chocolate before we head back with the rib boat. The trip will stay in our memories forever - just breathtaking to make this experience! Thanks a lot Marcus!

Most of the glacier visible has gone but you get the idea of what it was. I had visited the glacier museum prior to going and there is a superb video of the whole glacier however this is all hidden from view now. It’s a pretty place with a little lake. There is a small water fall close by but unfortunately this is inaccessible. However I visited on a sunny day with clear blue skies so that certainly added to the visit. There isn’t much to do there and walking is somewhat limited

Beautiful glacier and so close to the road! You only have to walk 10min to get there and the path is all even. This is unlike Jostedalsbreen where you have to hike 40min to get there! There is a very nice restaurant with big glass windows overlooking the glacier and the lake - highly underrated and definitely recommended!

We were driving to our next destination when we passed this glacier. We of course didn't let this chance slide and stopped to enjoy this beautiful place. We were able to have a hike next to the glacier which was impressive. Although the weather was lovely, the ice-cold water and cold of the glacier added to the experience! The view that we had was beautiful, every side we went. It's worth the visit for sure!

Glacier is far up the mountain but close enough to see them without a binocular. Park near the restaurant and walk down to the viewing area. Beautiful view, many waterfalls and different rock formation make it a unique place to visit.

Very beautiful glacier close to the main road (if one can called be main - it took me extra 4 hours to get here on the way from Bergen to Lillehammer). Anyway, the views are totally spectacular. Despite the glacier appearing to be close to the car park it’s actually difficult to walk closer to it (and the weather was just dreadful the day I happened to be there). You can’t really see the glacier because the view will be instructed by the rocks, so don’t see a point of suffering to walk through the forest to get closer to it. The place is amazing.

Very impressive and, unsurprisingly, much much colder up there than I imagined, but the glacier is an incredible sight. Set against the mountains and now smaller than in previous years due to lack of rain/snow we were shown how large it used to be. Nevertheless, it is still hugely impressive and blue - apparently due to the lack of oxygen in the ice from the pressure of the ice above.

This was a great experience! Tom and Jack were amazing guides and very willing to share ideas for the rest of our trip. They were knowledgeable and shared interesting facts throughout the trip. It was amazing to be on the fjord and experience the landscape around us thanks to FjordSeal. It was sunny and warm, and we all wore shorts and t-shirts.

Such a great experience Jack was a true gentleman and an apostle legend taking us out of normal hours to a fab spot for cliff jumps and a spot of light reading. Well worth everything to go here to experience just a few hours with Jack and the stunning scenery. Best view of waterfalls, fjords and glaciers.

Our group of five took the kayak tour with Tom. He was an excellent tour guide and gave us so much information about the area and also the culture. There were beautiful views. On the day we kayaked, we had the entire fjord to ourselves, not even another boat nearby. It was too cold to swim but we had a lovely lunch at the halfway point. I highly recommend this tour if you are in the area.

Paul and Jack were wonderful guides. Besides the actual tour, there were several stops where they told us a lot about the Sognefjord, their company or the Norwegian communities. An absolute recommendation

Nice little museum surrounded by the beautiful mountains, Fjord, lake, and the glacier. Very small size, but the panoramic movie (and its making video) makes the price worth the visit! Don’t forget to walk up to the roof for the view of amazing surroundings!

Excellent museum with great interactive exhibits. I thought I knew what glaciers were, but came away even better informed and amazed. Very interactive and fun!

Well worth the 1.5 hour drive to explore this informative museum. The 20 minute movie is an experience in itself and awe inspiring. I would watch it again. We enjoyed the hands on exhibits, reading all of the information boards offering 10 different languages! Very clean, helpful staff, calm environment.

Excellent museum ! The glacier movie as well as the interractive display on climate change was really cool. Also, the simulated glacier at the bag was great. They also serve food which is decent.

Little museum with beautiful architecture,the main attraction is the cinema showing a video about the biggest European glacier. It's nice that there are some interactive demonstrations to understand how glacier physics works, but it's a bit pricey. It's worth an hour or so of a visit.

A MUST! Already loved glaciers but this museum was everything I had hoped. From explaining the science behind what happens on and around glaciers to pressing the impact humans have had, this museum itched every curiosity. It gets busy when busses stop by but worth the stop. Hit the roof too, they have glass plaques that call out the fjord, valleys, glaciers and peaks you are surrounded by.

A really interesting and highly informative Museum. It is located in Fjærland and serves as a leading center for glacier and climate knowledge. It was designed by architect Sverre Fehn, built in 1991 and features sharp, angular shapes to reflect the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Its information is through interactive exhibits, including a simulated ice tunnel and experiments with 1,000-year-old ice from Supphellebreen. It is scientifically important as it houses the Ulltveit-Moe Climate Centre, which provides insights into climate change. It is open from April to October and offers guided nature walks and glacier tours in the area.

Absolutely stunning! Closed for renovations (they were painting the exterior mid-April 2025), but still cool to walk around! There is an electric fence, but it’s to keep the deer out! Just enter through the gate, and close it behind you.

It's closed and surrounded by 5feet high electric fence but you can still see it well from outside and admire it.

Interesting building dating back 12 century, only 28 of these churches left in Norway, if you get the opportunity to visit one do so.

Nice church at a cemetery, flowers at every grave. Access costs 220 NOK for a family and 200 NOK for a book about the stave churches. See it as cultural heritage support.

A fascinating church in the middle of this little town, where there is no place for eating. Entrance costs 7€ maybe expensive for one church, but It Is very beautiful, after that we suggest walking to Amla and if you need ti buy something catch a bus to Sogndal.

A beautiful little stave church. Unfortunately we arrived too early to go inside (opens at 10:00) but it is located in a beautiful place. (Everywhere in Norway is beautiful though) There is a little gravel parking lot to the right of the building and graveyard. The oldest gravestone was from the middle of the 17th century.

The description of this attraction really needs to change. There is no longer an aquarium and other reviews talk about woodcarvings - nowhere to be seen. The site now operates as a cafe which is busy with not enough staff.

We can not really recommend this aquarium. Firstly, it didn't seem that there is someone taking care of the fish. The water inside of the aquarium was dirty and there were way too many fish inside the aquarium. The fish didn't look healthy at all. Secondly the price was quite steep and definitely not worth the experience.

This was the worst experience on our 2 week Norway trip, and the worst aquarium i have every seen anywhere. Let alone the fact that it is quite pricey for what it is (there are only about 20 small tanks). What disgusted us was how dirty the tanks were, inside an out. All very gross.

Really cute little aquarium. They don’t have a lot of jaw-dropping exhibits as it’s a small town, but it’s cool to go see the local fish and wildlife. It’s 75 NOK and they throw in an hour canoe/rowboat rental with your ticket which makes it totally worth it!

A very disappointing experience. Many of the tanks did not have the fish/animals that were described. There was a dead fish in one of the tanks.

During our recent stay in Balestrand we rented e-bikes from Balestrand fjord adventures. It was a great experience - the staff was very helpful and the ride around the fjords was a trip highlight!

The tour guide was super amazing, he told us stories from the past about the fjord and made it all fun for us. We did the longer trip and we saw amazing bays and places where you cannot get without a boat. The boat id super fast

We did the speedboat tour with Ole. It was an amazing afternoon with lots of fun! Ole is a very nice guy and gives you lots of information about the life and nature around the fjord. Further it was a fun, speedy and bumpy ride - way better than rollercoaster but always safe. The service around was on top and we felt so welcome. Thank you, Ole for your time and the everlasting memory!

Breathtaking views throughout the Songefjord. Feeling the spray of the waterfall was an added perk! Our guide, Lars, was funny and as a local to Balestrand, he was very knowledgeable about local history, architecture, and Nordic legends. If you're in the area I highly suggest even a quick tour. Some views you just can't get unless you're out on the water. Takk Lars!

One of the highlights of our Norway trip was renting electric bikes in Balestrand and biking along the fjords! The sights were absolutely incredible and thanks to the boost by the electric bikes, we saw a lot in a short amount of time. They weren’t even much more expensive than the normal bikes. We biked from the shop in Balestrand along the Esefjord then to Dragsvik and finally along the Sværafjorden and back. We definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Balestrand. I want my own electric bike now!

Excellent tour. Guide Lars was incredibly knowledgable about fjord, nature and history. It was a fantastic tour to Finnabotn, he deserves a special thanks! Just grab the camera and enjoy beautiful views and nature. I had a great experience!

Extremely reckless behavior from one captain. He drove with high speed aiming straight at us (sitting in a little fishing boat), turned 20m from us, caught our fishing line about 15m from our boat und cut the line. Didn't even stop to excuse himself or anything. Just unnecessary, dangerous behavior.

Beautiful small wooden English church that was built in 1897 by Knut Kvikne 3 years after his wife’s death. It is free to visit, but they do ask for donations. It was built as a Norwegian stave style church and it is said to be the model in the Disney film frozen. A must visit if you are in the area.

Beautiful and charming little church. Apparently it's the church that the Frozen coronation scene was based on. It's very peaceful to visit.

It's a bit off the beaten path but it's worth a visit. Service is nice but the guide that was present ignored us and wasn't very helpful. Would recommend a visit anyways - 100 NOK entrance fee is not bad

One of the oldest stave churches in the world. It was built in 1180 and too old but preserved very well. It has an entrance fee to go inside (not to see it from the outside). It was worth it! The construction made us awe struck. Sadly, there were no surviving paintings. The bell tower is under some renovation so we were not able to go up to see it. The staffs were friendly both at the exhibit and near the church as well. They helped us with the history. But it is recommended to first see the exhibit and understand the history before going in the church.

A place that worth visit if you're around. There are two main church's well conserved. They're kinda different of what you usually see. There's no much other things around the area, except for a museum and a small River

There are also spanish guided tour in the Church. Amazing!. A terrace for sunny days avaliable.

Beautiful and underrated church - highly recommended! This is a very beautiful church. In my opinion, even more impressive than Unesco Urnes Stave Church. It’s easy to reach, with a large parking area and surrounded by lovely nature and peaceful surroundings. Just one thing to keep in mind: the church closes already at 5 PM, which might feel a bit early during the summer season. So make sure to plan your visit accordingly.

Humble church standing next to the beautiful Borgund Stave Church, no less beautiful in its own way. We didn't get to enter the church as it was closed.

Tge view is amazing, but there are some things i like to mention: - The road from Aurlandsvangen is very narrow, just for one car but the way up the are several places where you can pass the cars going down. If going on high season be prepared to meet many cars and taking extra time to go up and down the road. -Next to the view point there is a parking place but only for dozen cars, sometimes we had to park the car next to the road further up the parking place since the way down is narrow. There is a toilet next to the parking.

Wooden bridge that offers a wonderful view on the Sognefjord. The road to get there is basically a nightmare because it's super narrow and congested, also with buses and RVs: therefore be prepared to get stuck in the jam for several minutes and don't go there if you're a novice driver.

Definitely worth a visit. To access here, there are several ways including 1) hike; 2) drive; 3) bus tour; 4) taxi. We have our camper van but we didn’t end up driving our camper van up there after reading all the reviews online. There are a lot hairpin turns on the way up and we felt our van was a bit on the large end therefore we don’t want to risk it. We joined a bus tour from Norway’s Best company. It was good experience. The guide stopped 3 times to allow us to see things on the way. Because we joined a morning tour, there aren’t a lot people on the lookout. So it is relatively easy to get photos without people on your background! FYI - we didn’t go there in summer peak season. We went in Sept after school started. So maybe it’s another story in peak season

This is one of the best spots to get beautiful views of the fjords. It is completely free and easily accessible with ample parking available. There are clean, free toilets on site. The road up to the lookout is quite interesting, but if you have a big vehicle, consider switching to a smaller one. There are meeting points along the way, but please be careful while driving. Some people also hike or bike to the lookout. It's definitely worth a visit, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the Aida cruise ship. Enjoy your stay in beautiful Norway. Anytime of the year is best time to visit.

Fantastic spot, the views are just breathtaking. We went up in the evening and early morning (6am) to avoid tour coaches. If you are: not a confident driver, in a large vehicle, or can’t reverse I would either give it a miss, or stick to quiet times. Vehicles coming in the opposite direction are often travelling too fast and for long section there is only space for one car. The view point half way up/down is also superb.

The Drive is a fun one - very curvaceous- Be Ready ! Lolol - G8 lookout and place to take photos - Selfies will pop, but befriend someone and have them take your photo so U can get the whole view. Not a must do , but if you can , Go !

I travelled here for the 2nd time. This provides the best panoramic view of the fjord and town. You can follow road up from here to get serene experience of the glacier top and snow with greenery. Just like E63.

Visited via a cruise. Flåm has one of europe's most beautiful train journeys but sadly we missed out on tickets and had to settle for the land train. These are pretty regular and do a loop of a few kilometres. We we're told that the e-cars you can hire are good fun. The weather wasn't great but it did produce some great photos of the cloud rolling down the mountain.

It was a nice train ride. It’s a good way to get up into the mountains to appreciate the scenery. If you do t go you regret it. It’s too expensive to book through the cruise for what you get. We booked directly through the train and that was a little more reasonable. It was a relaxing ride and if was a pretty round trip tour. Picturesque. The water was low while we were there so no big rushing waterfalls but pretty.

The Flåm Train is definitely worth the price, even though everything in the area feels a bit overpriced. The beginning of the ride felt a little slow and didn’t quite live up to the hype at first, but it just kept getting better. The scenery becomes truly spectacular — especially when the train stops and you can step out near the waterfall. When we first stopped, the water was pouring down so heavily and loudly that we completely missed the little performance happening nearby! Luckily, on the return trip, the train stopped again, and we got to enjoy the icy mist and actually see the show. It was an unforgettable experience and well worth the journey — I’d love to go back someday.

I took a Flåmsbana rail journey from Flam to Myrdal and it was one of the most scenic train I have taken. The views were amazing plus the stop at waterfall was very good. The train and the staff inside was excellent. I would love to take this journey again when in Flam again. I even enjoyed the scenic views at the Myrdal train station.

The trip fro Myrdal to flam and return 2 days laters, is definitely in the top three of all our train trip, is was so much fun sitting in the old style cabins, (there was plenty of room, we could constantly swap seats to take in all the views), we had a wonderful stop at the waterfall, we will treated to snow on the return trip. All in all a wonderful experience.

Amazing views and service. It’s all tourist so expect to be packed but it’s incredible and worth the ride. We left from Mydral and went down and up after staying in Flåm and the railroad was an amazing experience. We did struggle with finding baggage space for our larger luggage but lots of overhead racks for small stuff.

A very nice place to visit however too commercialised with not many nice local foods to try. Self service coffee shop was a massive letdown. Small market was nice as were the souvenir shops. Their is a fantastic walk if a little challenging, to near the top of a waterfall about 650 meters up.

Amazing! The RIB boat tour is a fantastic way to see the fjords. Our tour guide provided lots of fun facts and information that helped me enjoy the fjords more. We even saw seals!! They provided us with the protective gear needed to stay warm and in case it rained. So, regardless of weather you just need to show up and have a good time!

Fantastic experience. The staff was so so kind and helpful. Our guide Bjorn was wonderful. We think the 1.5 hour tour was just perfect. They provide you with all the clothing you might need to not be cold. It was wonderful. Highly recommended.

This was an exceptional tour experience. Of course the views of the Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord were breathtaking and even more incredible from the rib boat. What really made our trip was our guide Matilde. She was so knowledgeable and made sure we got all our questions answered. She took us up close to many notable places: waterfalls, towns, troll “remains” 😄, and even a waterside herd of goats. She and our gear and safety instructor Bjorn made a memorable experience even more so. It was clear that they take our enjoyment and our safety very seriously. Book this tour! We had an amazing experience on the fjords with Marcus on Wednesday. We felt very safe on the boat, they provide suits, goggles and gloves. Marcus told great stories as he guided us through the fjords around Flåm. We even saw some seals! Would highly recommend booking the extended tour, it was incredible!

We had two kids with us. One and two years. The one year old fell asleep. (Not because of the guide, but her nap time) And the two years old, wanted to sail more..! Great history of the railroad here at Flam. Very good exhibits with signage in Norwegian and most signs also in English. Easy to download an app for self-guided tour in several languages. We could not find all the audio guide markers and managed to have a great tour. Entry thru gift shop in central Flam. Great free museum.

Stretching just 20 kilometers between Flåm and Myrdal, the ride is short but packed with stunning scenery that feels almost unreal. From the moment the train departs, you’re surrounded by towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, deep valleys, and charming little villages. The highlight for many is the stop at Kjosfossen Waterfall, where you can step outside to feel the mist and watch a short cultural performance. The train itself is comfortable, with large windows that make it easy to enjoy the views from either side. Commentary along the way provides helpful background about the history and engineering marvel of the railway, which is one of the steepest standard-gauge lines in the world. Yes, it can get busy with tourists, especially in summer, and tickets are a bit pricey—but the experience is worth every moment. The location is excellent and it's the best choice for skiing enthusiasts! The rooms are also very clean. The only drawback is that there are too many people and the elevators are a bit small, so you have to wait for a long time!

Not terrible but far from great. Clean rooms but very, very small rooms. Like, tiny. Not enough space to open a couple of suitcases on the provided luggage racks. No phone to call reception, no tissues, no glasses, no fridge and apparently no daily room service. Hotel is too busy. Reception staff seem overwhelmed much of the time -- or just absent. Very helpful when they are there but more often than not, a long wait to access them. Otherwise staff were generous here and in the restaurant. Despite being a ski hotel, a shocking lack of facilities most notably felt by a lack of a proper boot room. To dry wet equipment. Having to resort to a conference room was crazy and also inconvenient. Restaurants: amazing pizza but dire lack of choice. A la carte restaurant features amazing food repeatedly served at luke warm temperatures. Prices: everything is just crazy poor value peaking at a pint of average quality beer at 164NOK. Yes, Norway is not cheap but this takes things to another level. In summary, not good enough for the price by a long way. Compared to luxury hotels in Germany, Austria which are better equipped and offer better value, service and facilities.

Lift operators too lazy to clean chairs of snow and slush. Also very limited runs as resort would not open higher runs despite plenty of snow.

The best ski holiday i've ever had. It's very secluded and quiet whenever i go there. I have been twice and i don't regret either times.

Very nice place! Best I have seen in Norway so far. Only minus was that it had been snowing all night and all slopes where covered in 25cm loose snow. Not a big problem for me but i was happy I didn't have my wife and kids with me because they wouldn't have enjoyed this day.. Maybe check the weather forecast and if they expect a lot of snow during the night then take the prepping of the slopes in the morning instead of wasting the effort the evening before ?? Otherwise excellent ski resort !!

First skiing holiday for my family and I, and Myrkdalen was perfect. Stayed here over Xmas week and it was mostly v. quiet with beautiful weather. Hotel is clean, comfy and modern. Food is decent (lots of it!) and staff v. pleasant. Ski slopes were perfect and the instructors at the local ski school were excellent and super friendly. I'd definitely come back for more skiing.

Best skiing resort in Norway. Great variation of slopes and amazing views from the mountain peaks. There are often loads of people so be prepared for some long queues and crowded slopes. Most people here are very experienced skiiers though so you generally feel safe.

Tvindefossen is a stunning and picturesque waterfall, definitely worth a quick stop if you’re passing through the area. The view is beautiful and the waterfall itself is elegant, making it a great photo opportunity. However, there’s not much else to do once you’ve taken in the view. The area around the waterfall is fenced off with rope, so you can’t get close to the water or the base of the falls. There are no benches or places to sit and relax, and picnics are not allowed, which makes it more of a short visit than a place to spend time. Overall, a beautiful sight, but limited in terms of access and facilities.

Lively water fall. We came here after the zipline activity in Voss. Its only 1 km away from voss active zipline. Its a beautiful waterfall with different layers. You can go and tale pictures. But not allowed to go on the water or do a picnic in the area. There is a small shop nearby. Also there is a camping area

Very beautiful waterfall. Was just driving by and stopped. Was camping and checking out Voss, Stegastein, Borgun Stave Church, and such. There is free parking and you can just walk right up to the falls. Be aware that the bathrooms cost money to use.

What an amazing time! I did family rafting (grade 2) but I was paired up with such nice belgian family and had so much fun rafting and swimming. We didn't get the chance to eat here but the room looked stunning. There is a nice gift shop. And goats love on the roof. Across the road is the Nature Museum. This was very interesting with a good video at the start.

The movie in the auditorium was very impressive. You get a very good sense of the nature in Norway straight away. The museum itself was relatively interactive though a little bit short to my opinion. View from the terrace on the 2nd floor was nice as well.

Amazing exhibition and well made film. I cried during the film after exploring Hardangerfjord and Hardangervidda for several days. Explains geological history of the region, art & nature, agriculture, fauna and flora. Hunting simulator. Highly recommend! Worth the money. Friendly staff! Lovely presentation!

Good place for a break on a long car journey from Oslo to Bergen. Staff speak a range of foreign languages for those who do not necessarily speak Norwegian or English and are very helpful.

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the visitors centre has lots of great information and stuff to learn about Norway. They also have a 20 minute film which gives aerial shots of the national park which is absolutely brilliant.

An absolute unique and incredible experience. We did kayaking, hiking and climbing. The team is very professional, attentive and approachable. I felt very safe during all the activities even though I didn’t have much experience. They truly cater for all, as our group were very diverse. The landscaping is breathtaking. Even though it rained the tour was amazing! It’s really special to see the mountains from the water. I can only recommend you to do this as well. We went on a guided tour with our guide Zoe. She was very friendly and kind. She knew a lot about the area and as we were going through the fjord we would occasionally have a little chat. It also was fun to see that she enjoyed being out on the water even after doing it for a very long time. She was very professional and I have only good things to say about her! It’s a fun place for kids 2-13. Older kids might enjoy it, depending on their own definition of being “cool”, or how good siblings they are. Recommends bringing food and drinks, if you’re in a budget, but food and drinks are available throughout. Recommend bathing/swimming before 12, as the water is warmer and there is less people.

We spend there the whole day, it's amazing place, so much to do! Non stop fun for younger kids! They will not know where to go first! Only minus would be that There's missing something for teen kids! The deepest pool is 110cm, and not allowed to jump! So all together it's dream for kids, boring for older kids!

Very fun play park for young children (under 10). There’s a playground, a small water park area, and an indoor jungle gym. The food isn’t the best (except the French fries which are delicious) but you can bring in your own and there’s even grills available for use if you bring your own hot dogs and such. It is a bit pricey but so worth the smiles on the kids’ faces after a trip there!

This is the first waterfall you'll come across if you're doing the hike to see all four which is what we did. Easy to get to but still impressive next to the power station. I recommend getting to the second one if you can but it's a steep climb!

I visited this place with my dog. We walked on the hiking route all the way to the top and had a nice dip in the waterfall before heading down. On the way down i noticed there is another route which is a road with gravel. Such a nice surprice, as the route we took up was very exausting with a dog on your shoulder :-) I recomment you to take both routes, in which order is for you to decide. There is a big difference between the routes and how you watch the river from them and i wouldn't like to miss any of them!

My wife and I spontaneously booked a private glacier trip. We requested an adventure and they delivered! Our guide, Emil, was fantastic. He took us to the front glacier, which was a challenging 2 hour hike. We then ate lunch and went ice climbing on a glacier wall. Emil and I wanted a better view of a glacier cave so we walked barefoot through the stream to access a high point! Finally we went back by “doing a bit of mountaineering,” which entailed rock climbing through a small waterfall. We couldn’t have envisioned a more fun day. Emil brought extra gloves for us so that we could swap at lunch for dry ones. I highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting Norway!

Wow absolutely magical day on the water with Sverre and the Folgefonni team. They were super prepared with gear that kept us dry and safe. Amazing views of the glacier and great kayaking. Highly recommended!

We went on the glacier kayak tour. Beautiful, amazing place for a paddle! Seeing a glacier up close was an amazing experience, as was paddling through bits of ice. It's a truly beautiful place. The guide was great! The dry suit, gloves and boots kept me very warm. A couple of things to note - it was a 45 minute drive from Rosendal to the lake where we paddled to the glacier. We went in our car in convoy with the guide, but it is possible to travel with the guide. On the day we went, the water level was extremely low, which meant carrying the kayaks down to the water, and also breaking the paddle to carry the kayaks over some rocks. The guide was really helpful in helping with this but it was hard work!

Åsmund was so helpful in assisting me to join the trip, even if I just inquired the day before. Everything was set-up well, making sure everyone was safe, comfortable and had fun. The hike was beautiful! Lars, Vilda and Somna (I hope I spelled their names correctly) were all incredible, very patient in explaining, and had an encouraging and upbeat attitude. We did the Panorama hike at the glacier with Maria and Vilde, the hike was wonderful, Maria and Vilde were very kind and professionals. The views were astonishing! We recommend It ! We did the hike with our kids age 11 and 12.

We rented kayaks for the evening, which was originally planned for afternoon. Amber was extremely kind and helpful, and understanding when our previous trip was delayed. Kayak equipment was good but not as great as I would have expected for 500kr. But the minor things were easily manageable thanks for the perfect weather and amazing area where we took our trip to that evening.

we did two activities - first of all the blue ice glacier hike, second kayaking on the fjord - Gro was a great guide for both of these. Very well organised and a lot of fun. The cafe is good too. Recommended!

The hike to Trolltunga is stunning, and so is the Trolltunga view point. I will give you my advice for coming to Trolltunga. I arrived at P2 at 6:30 and I came early to make sure to have a parking spot. When I returned to the parking at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon there were still available spaces. I must add that the hiking trail today didn't feel very busy. The waiting time at the view point was 5 minutes at 10:30 in the morning. How did I hike? From P2 I walked all the way and didn't take the shuttle bus. The road up there (same one as the shuttle bus drives) is about 2,5km and very steep. When you walk passed the shuttle bus stop on the mountain the first 2km of the trail are also steep. It's s path builed out of large rocks that form a stairway. Don't understand it, this is the hardest part of the hike. After that the trail will remain relatively flat all the way to Trolltunga. The trail is well maintained from beginning to the end, it's pretty much impossible to get lost. Just follow the metal poles and red marks "T". From P2 to Trolltunga and back without a shuttle bus is a ~26km round trip. The views along the way are gorgeous and spectacular!

1. Planning to park at P3? Book parking slot in advance! I’m talking really in advance — we tried 10 days before our hike and every single spot was already taken. 2. The shuttle from P2 to P3 is a lifesaver. Honestly, it saved us both time and energy for the Trolltunga hike itself (ours took 3 hours up and 3 hours 5 minutes back). You can buy shuttle tickets online for the ride up. The ride down is paid on the spot after you arrive back (possible by card). 3. Think twice before bringing kids. We have two — 14 and 10 years old, both super active — but we left them at home. Best decision ever. 4. A summer rain jacket is non-negotiable. In August, the weather changed 10 times an hour — heavy rain, freezing wind, bright sun, repeat. Rocks get slippery, so sturdy hiking boots are a must, preferably fully waterproof. If it’s windy and raining, water will get everywhere, no matter what. 5. Layers are your best friend. With the weather changing so quickly, you can go from hot to freezing in minutes — and you’ll definitely feel the difference. Bottom line: exhausting, unpredictable… and 100% worth it. Enjoy every minute!

Trolltunga is absolutely breathtaking! The hike is challenging—long and steep in parts—but every step is worth it for the views at the top. The cliff itself is incredible for photos and the surrounding fjords are stunning. Make sure to bring proper hiking gear, food, and water. Truly one of Norway’s most iconic and Instagram-worthy spots!

The hike was easy for me, been here twice in 3 years, unfortunately the shuttle bus for 2 section is getting pricey. Take sufficient water and queue for the line and enjoy the view.

Rather boring hike on a cloudy day and impressive queue to make a picture. We enjoyed the picnic behind the rock, such a cosy spot, you don’t see and hear the crowd. A bit overhyped, I wouldn’t do it again.

Beautiful hike with incredible scenery all along: turquoise lakes, glacier and huge rocks. The Trolltunga is very impressive as well. Be aware on a good day there is a big queue to take pictures on the rock.

Hands down, one of the most scenic and picturesque places I’ve seen. It cannot be described and photos don’t do this place justice, but let’s say it’s worth every step of those 27.5 km. We parked at P2 and started our hike at 8:15. Beware, because if there is a bus coming down, you might have to park at P1 and wait there a while until they tell you you can continue, so plan this possible delay too. The first leg is definitely one of the hardest (if not the hardest) and there are two more sections along the way which might be a bit more challenging for a semi-experienced hiker. You can fill water from the streams from the first shelter onwards which is around half way to Trolltunga. We took a lot of photos, made short detours, and had two longer breaks around lakes, so it took us around 6 hours to get there. The line for taking pictures between 1 and 3pm on week days is between 30-40 minutes, although if you don’t insist on having your pictures taken on Trolltunga itself or you are in a rush, there is a smaller and similar looking rock just behind it and there might be no line for it at all. We did take pictures on both rocks. The descent took us a little over 4 hours as we kept a steady and somewhat brisk pace all the way down. Again, if you are in Norway and you are in a good enough physical condition, don’t think of skipping Trolltunga - it will be one of the most amazing natural sights you’ve ever seen!

A disappointing experience. The three young women behind the desk didn't seem to have a clue and apparently weren't hikers themselves. They did know the English words for "long" and "short" but looked blankly at each other when we asked about trail specifics. When asked specifically about the Buer glaciar hike, they assured us that trail conditions were dry. Not!
