Very beautiful palace. They say on a good day you can see kullu and manali. However when I want it was under restoration, so most of rooms were shut. But they let me walked around. The parking is a little away, and it is at a price. The palace holds a very old temple as well. Ahead of the palace is a russian art museum which is a must go. Further, lot of cafe are also there incase you want to try some bakery items. If you are in manali, then this can be kept for a half day visit on your way back or during your rest days.

A Missed Opportunity to Showcase Heritage 🏯 I recently visited Naggar Castle, a historic site in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. While the structure itself carries architectural beauty and old-world charm, the overall experience was disappointing. There is a serious lack of historical insight offered to visitors—just one information board at the entrance, with no detailed descriptions or curated displays inside. For an entry fee of ₹50 per person, one would reasonably expect more value in terms of context and storytelling. It’s unfortunate that Himachal Pradesh Tourism seems to be treating the site more as a resort and restaurant venue rather than preserving and presenting it as a cultural landmark. The history of the castle deserves to be highlighted, with proper restoration and interpretation to truly make it a meaningful tourist attraction. This place has potential—it just needs attention and respect towards its historical significance.

Must see! The architecture is very cool and the view is amazing. It was actually closed on the morning that I went, but the men at the reception were extremely kind and let me walk around without buying a ticket.

Unfortunately for me, the castle was closed for renovation. I could only see some parts of its exterior. In any case, there is hardly any maintenance. I feel it should be taken over by the ASI. Also, private building much bigger and grander than the palace near its vicinity must not be allowed. There is too much of unregulated commercialization around it. There is hardly any parking space.

River is very clean, well maintained in Himachal Pradesh. Vipasha was the first name of this river. Water is very clean and very cold (child). Its a very long river. Its total length is 470 kilometres. The Beas River marks the easternmost border of Alexander the Great's conquests in 326 BCE.👍🏻🧡

Hadimba temple is very beautiful temple surrounded by pine trees. My advice will be to vist in early morning to get quite environment and good pictures. The outside of building has beautiful wooden carvings. There also many local shopes in the surrounding area.

This hot water kund is located at mani Karan ..it is open kund for gents and for ladies closed bath rooms are for bathing and dress changing. The hot water is attached to these bath rooms. Really it is a mystery for everyone

This is a place you shouldn't miss when visiting Manali. This is a religious place along with a hot water spring bath that has separate bathing facilities for men and women. We can do puja here as well and the architecture of the temple looks very nice. However, I need to mention that the place is unclean and no toilets are present nearby. The toilets are far away and dirty, also a place for bathing is not very isolated.

In this place Maharishi vashisht temple is situated. The road is too narrow for crossing two cars. Paid parking available here. Lot of shops available for food and shopping. Very small place... men bath is there , but women can see only the outside water taps with hot water, the place crowded with local women washing their clothes inspite of a board saying "washing of clothes not allowed"..

Circumference is about 2.5 to 3 kms. Do visit the opposite end for peaceful experience as most of visitors turn back from the first end . It's about 1 to 1.5 kms from the last car parking. Road to chamdertaal is not very pleasant but it makes the journey more memorable

Chandrataal is a lake located in lahual and spiti district of himachal pradesh. It is 50km drive from Manali. Chandrataal is open during the months of may to October and remaining time it is closed. The entry fee for lake is 150 rupee per person and the lake the entry to the lake closes at 5pm in evening. The lake is very deep and restricted to go inside it. It is a clear water lake. The lake is very beautiful and amazing .From parking u have to walk around 1km to reach the lake. The height of the lake is 14100 ft(4300m).During springtime, these meadows are carpeted with hundreds of varieties of wild flowers. In 1871, Harcourt, Assistant Commissioner of Kullu, reported that there was a plain of good grass to the north of Chadra Taal, where shepherds brought large herds for grazing from Kullu and Kangra.Migratory species such as the Ruddy shelduck are found in summer. This place is also renowned for its mythical significance, particularly as the place where Lord Indra descended in his chariot to take Yudhishthira to heaven in the epic Mahabharata.

A lifetime experience. People have to walk about 1 to 2 km from the parking ground to the main Lake . Those who are weak should carry necessary precautions as the oxygen level is really low here. We relied upon Coca 30, and successfully had the trek. Per head ticket is Rs 150

Nice place to visit. It is 2 Km walkable in slope from parking place. We can touch, play , walk on snow. water stream in river is very clear and cooler. very calm place. surrounded with green hills and trees. we also reach there by rented horses (about Rs.200 to 300 for one trip) but walking in the valley is good and enjoyable. Need good sweater.

Solang valley is very beautiful. I would love to visit there again and again. Its natural beauty refreshes one's mind and keeps away from negativity. Everything was fantastic as I visited there with my family and every single moment we enjoyed alot. The only thing that annoyed us was while doing skiing ⛷🎿 the skiing masters or guides pull u from back and doesn't allow u to do. They charge high just for 5mins. That particular area gets crowded and u can't do freely. Though the Experience was very nice. Never fall in the trap of all those vendors selling Kesar as all these are fake. Hope you guys enjoy.

Solang Valley is located just nearby Manali City. This valley has very scenic view of the mountains. It is covered in snow during winters. There are many fun tourists and sports activities available here throughout the year. Winter sports likely skiing, snowboarding etc are available here. Other activities the are also available are paragliding, zip lining etc. This is a fun family vacation spot.

For people looking to experience snow for the first time, solang is a good place to be.... how ever the place is way too crowded, but you will learn a lot about for the future explore of the snowey places. Was fun to be here, a lot of activities to choose from... The snow shoes they make you wear are no good and are slippery, so be careful. Make sure you insulate them with good warm socks. All in all it was a great experience.

We had so much fun engaging in snow activities like skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. There are also local vendors who offer warm clothing rentals, snacks, and hot tea right on the pass. Be sure to sip a cup of chai while soaking in the views.it's one of those small pleasures that stay with you forever. Photography lovers will be in heaven .every corner is a perfect frame. The contrast of the blue sky against the white snow, with yaks and ponies in the background, adds a surreal touch to the whole experience.

This is really a good place to visit at the mountain top. At prak season anyone can experience a fully snow covered area of the total locality along with roads as well. This is also known as Rohtang pass ( The Rohtang La). It is around 51 kms away from Manali city. But the area is kept closed for viaitor upto mid June due to heavy low temperature and ice blocking of the roads. Best time to enjoy this is end of June to july.

The snow is melting .. around 90 % of the snow has been melted . also very hateful to see plastic coke bottles and Maggie chips rappers in snow. Tourists visiting this pass should be responsible and eco-friendly too….but we enjoyed lot so if you want toseet he bety goo in this month otherwise in the August will good because in December to may the rohtang pass closed

Suraj Tal is the third highest lake in India and 21st highest in the world located at height of 4883 metres and It is no doubt one of the best lakes I have ever seen in my lifetime. I first visited this place around 15 yrs ago, back then it was fully frozen. Right now it's partially frozen and one can't go inside the lake. We can see it from the road above and the view is heavenly. It's usually very cold here even in summers and would recommend carrying a jacket and wearing a cap.

visited the place with family by road from after staying one night at Manali. All were very sad after seeing the Rohtang Pass clear mountains with blackish pollution without any snow anywhere as expecting snowwhite bed in area, it seems like dry desert of mountains only. But after visiting the picturesque views of Suraj Tal and breathtaking highly speed winds on the spot encouraged us to go ahead with more kilometers and finally reached at Sarchu. amazing views in and around the valley on the way between Keylong to Sarchu with only single snacks point and rest space for especially for bikers.

Suraj Tal is a beautiful lake just short of Baralachala Pass at an altitude of 16043'. It's shoreline extends to 4 kms and width is 800mtrs+. It's also called Tso Kamtsi. It's the third highest lake in India. It's located just below the source of Bhaga river which joins Chandra river at Tandi to form Chandrabhaga which is called Chenab on entering Jammu region.

Magical place and extraordinarily beautiful. The village is too small and extremely peaceful like any other villages in Ladakh. Even in the month of May we were freezing and the lake was half frozen like you can see in the pictures. But I can guarantee you will not see these kinds of landscapes anywhere else in India. This place is a photographer's paradise. Please keep the place clean when you visit 🙏

This is one of the most beautiful places in Ladakh, especially for wildlife photography lovers. All kinds of Ladakhi birds can be found here, and the landscapes are absolutely mind-blowing.

Unpredictable weather, scorching sun, sudden showers, icy winds. The natural treasures are worth the effort. Both lakes are worth a visit. Tsartsapuk Tso is rich in birdlife.

Tsokar Lake is good lake to spend some time and you can do camping also here. We saw this on our way to Manali from Tso Moriri. This route is one of the most beautiful and adventurous route for now.

Very unique environment. The salt pillows, the birds and the mountains nearby are wonderful.

It is a large, beautiful salt lake in Ladakh. It is about 15,000 feet above sea level. It is not as beautiful as Pangong Tso or Tso Moriri. Because there is no high view point to view the entire lake or a large part of the lake as a whole. We only get a close side view of the lake. So we cannot see the beautiful color of water in detail. But the grasslands and barren hills around the lake make the lake very beautiful. The salt crystals on the shore in white colour give it a different sight from other lakes in Ladakh. And the lake becomes a feast for the eyes.

Tso Kar is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 4530 meters above sea level located in the southern part of Ladakh. It is known for its scenic beauty and the wide variety of wildlife it supports. It is one of the three high altitude salt water lakes in Ladakh. The lake is very popular with bird watchers as the marshlands surrounding the lake support an amazing array of bird life.

A very thrilling experience as we are reaching Leh from Manali by Innova at this 17480 ft Tanglang la . Only ice and ice. It is approximately 100 km before Leh. It became difficult to stop for photos because of heavy ice. The journey took on May 27th 2025.

This is one of the top passes in Ladakh. At 17582 ft, this is very high and very tough to stay there for long. The wind is string, but road is relatively easy. There is a temple and also BRO point , washroom etc. You can get complementary hot tea here. Avoid prolong stay here due to impact on breathing etc, just 10 mins should be fine to check the surrounding and take pics.

[visited in September] Located at an altitude of about 5,328 meters, Tanglang La is one of the highest motorable passes in the world. As you approach Tanglang La, the landscape slowly changes into a desolate, almost surreal world. The mountains are barren, the green is becoming more and more sparse, and the rocks turn into shades of grey, beige and copper. The road winds uphill, with sharp hairpin bends and views that become more and more impressive. At the top, there are prayer flags fluttering in the wind, a colorful and spiritual addition to the rugged environment. Tanglang La is one of those places that leaves a deep impression; it is a journey through nature, but also an inner experience in which you fully feel the power and serenity of the Himalayan mountains.

I visited Tanglang La on July 9, 2024. Situated on the route from Leh to Manali, Tanglang La is one of the highest motorable passes in the world, reaching an altitude of approximately 5,328 meters (17,480 feet). An extreme weather condition. A harsh nature will provide you a totally different experience. I visited in January when the tempareture is always below -8°c. I got minimum of -32°c. Rough terrain, snow covered land, frozen river, no greenery , ibex , snow leopard, and freezing cold are the main features here. Get ready for adventure....

Have a nice forest to explore along with a huge, high mountains view. But when i visited,whole area was washed away by flood, which ruins the road. So, most of the ways are rough with bumps. While heading to the park we can enjoy beautiful Indus river.

The barrenness of the place hits you hard. You are left wondering about the will of the first settlers and the people who presently living in the area. Closes that you can come to a Martian landscape without actually taking a ride with Elon Musk. Truly a natural wonder. Best way to see it will be to rent a bike and bike it. Ideal time mid March before the tourist season starts……🙄

One of the oldest monasteries to exist in ladakh. Has well maintained museum that takes you through the whole history of ladakh.

Hemis Monastery is located 45 km from Leh, in the Hemis National Park. The best time to visit Hemis Monastery is during the summer months (June to September). The monastery is accessible by road from Leh.

This place is infused with history of Tibetan Buddhism and the vibe of the place is on another level. The museum is top notch, with artifacts dating back to the 7th century. Take your time while exploring the museum and observe each corridor at leisure and soak in all that is there. For me, it was one of the best experiences in my stay in Ladakh.

One will feel postive vibes.one there are other two Monastery on the same road.

Nice monastery, but I found it unusual—even knowing these are old relics—to see the hides of a tiger and a snow leopard, along with the shotgun that killed them, displayed in a sacred Buddhist place of worship and presented as a museum exhibit for paying visitors.

Visited July 22 and 23, 2025 – Days 19 & 20 in India Our journey from Nubra Valley toward Pangong Lake and later returning to Leh via Chang La was every bit as thrilling as it sounds. With our driver Hadi expertly navigating the curving switchbacks and steep gradients of this high mountain pass, it felt like riding the spine of the Himalayas. The drive was at once terrifying and exhilarating. We were climbing to over 17,500 feet—thin air, jagged cliffs, snow patches, and icy slush made every turn heart‑pounding. The road was as stunning as it was unforgiving: bumpy, rocky stretches alternated with smoother blacktop, and occasional washouts or sand patches meant Hadi had to keep us steady through it all. Meanwhile my daughters, five and seven, were blissfully unaware. Most of the way they slept curled up on my lap, oblivious to the massive peaks, the breaths we held, and the yaks grazing by the roadside below. But even in sleep they stirred with joy at sudden views of snow‑dusted ridges and snow-covered glaciers shining in the sunlight. We saw many yaks standing like silent sentinels amid the barren landscape. Army‑run tea stalls at the summit offered piping hot beverages and a much‑needed warmth in freezing air that could bite even in July. This was definitely a five‑star experience—equal parts awe‑inspiring scenery, adrenaline rush, and peaceful high‑altitude magic. Highly recommend it if you love breathtaking drives that test your nerves and leave you feeling alive.

While travelling from Nubra valley we had to cross through Chang La pass and go towards Pangong Lake. This area is again at a very high altitude and you will feel a bit nausea, headache and breathlessness if you stay here over 20-25 mins. Well the pass is beautiful and the view is mesmerizing. There is a temple here as well of changla baba. Do pay a visit to the temple of you're here.

The place is very cold even in mid june days. The pass is situated at 17688 ft above mean sea level. The mountains are cladded with snow round the year. Best time to visit is from May to September.

Road conditions are mostly good. It’s a stretch of almost 70 kms. Sharp turns, some water crossings, etc. Bit of a thrill ride till Durbuk.

It is very cold at the pass. There is nice temple at the top. The photo points are good. Chang la is right after Khardung La in terms of height. Almost similar height. There are vendors selling light snacks, water and tea.

If you only have time to visit one place in the Leh Valley, or even just one monastery while here, then choose Thiksey. It is the most incredible, otherworldly place I’ve ever been. The views across the valley to the high Himalaya and the outside architecture are only the beginning. Highly recommend arriving for morning Puja which starts around 6am and can last until 9am. The prayers start with the sounding of enormous horns across the valley, something that has to be experienced to be understood. The monks are happy to chat and the younger monks in training are particularly keen to hear about where you’re from and what you think of their home. Truly a priceless experience.

I recently visited Thiksey Monastery in Ladakh and absolutely loved it! The place is super peaceful and the views from the top are just mind-blowing. The Tibetan-style architecture is beautiful and the calm atmosphere makes it a perfect spot to just sit and soak in the vibes. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Ladakh!

Thiksey Monastery is absolutely beautiful! The walk upstairs is serene and offers stunning views at every step. The peaceful atmosphere, intricate architecture, and the calmness around make it a must-visit spot in Leh. Truly a place that fills you with a sense of peace and wonder.

Thiksey Monastery truly takes your breath away. Built on a hilltop, it looks majestic from a distance, and even more mesmerizing up close. The morning prayers with the monks are a deeply spiritual experience — peaceful chants echoing as the sun rises over the valley. The views are incredible, and the giant Maitreya Buddha statue inside is awe-inspiring. A visit here feels grounding and serene — a must-see in Leh.

While coming back from Pangong Lake to Leh this was our first sightseeing. We also had Ranchos school in the list but unfortunately it was closed due to then ongoing protest. This monastery was open and we went and enjoyed the lovely architecture of this place. Situated at a hill top the view from this place is amazing. There are many temples here actually so you have to visit one by one. One temple had the big buddha statue which was my favourite spot. Very peaceful and calm place. You can surely visit here on your way back to Leh.

Visited the monastery on a rainy day. ⛩️ The view of the hill was getting mesmerizing with every step. The mural painting was outstanding! 🌟 Came to know about the Shri Devi Temple which is at the top. In the temple no women were allowed to enter except the family-women of the Ladakh Queen and the Queen herself. Visit & Enjoy! ⛩️

Buddhist temples and monastery Vehicles go till the gate, then it's a climb till the top- begins with a road and then stairs all the way. Accessibility might be an issue for specially abled. There are different temples once you reach the top, take your time to explore and take in the views of Leh. Worth a visit if you enjoy Buddhist temples, can skip if you have already seen similar places before.

Long way to go. Palace is a hotel. Museum is not so interesting. We went there there was a small room where you can have tea coffee juice no food. I asked few people who was coming out as I went in a d their opinion was emm. Not all that. The charges are 80 rupees more than others. Looks like name has changed to Stock Musuem and not palace.

History of the Namgyal dynasty: The museum provides insight into the history and royal culture of the dynasty that ruled from the palace for centuries. Location: The palace is located in the village of Stok, about 17 km from Leh. Timings: The museum is generally open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, with a lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Highlights: In addition to the museum, the palace offers stunning views of the surrounding valley and mountains.

The village is situated roughly 17 km from Leh city, the palace is the first noticable piece of art in the village apart from the newly built statue of Buddha, the palace stands tall and testament of the history of Ladakh.

Its architecture is very similar to Potala Palace of Lhasa and a wonderful example of medieval Ladakhi art. Today, the Leh Palace is considered an important part of Ladakh history

Beautiful palace located just outside of the Leh city, with amazing views of Leh and the surrounding areas. It's the current residence of the ex-royal family and also a heritage hotel. Only the lower floors, where the museum is located, are open to public. The museum is ok and holds many historical artifacts from the royal family and other places in Ladakh. There's a small restaurant and a cafe. It feels nice to just sit at the cafe and take in the view. Avoid going here around 1 PM because it's their lunch time and they won't let you in.

Stok Museum: 10th June 2024- The Museum was closed, but they allowed us to walk around and take pics of the outside of the (Stok) Palace.

No other museum in leh has kept the ancient artifacts like this museum. Very peaceful go around in afternoon have lunch. Visit the museum and enjoy the history. Evening you can enjoy some snacks and awesome coffee. They have got a cafe there which serves delicious food.

LAMO centre in the old town of Leh consists of two houses of Munshi and Gyaoo families. These are some of the best remaining examples of domestic vernacular architecture of the 17th Century. Munshi house was the residence of Togoche family who served as secretary in the Ladakhi court. Gyaoo house was the residence of upper rank of court artisans who performed for the king. Both the houses have been restored by LAMO (The Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation) and converted to an arts space with galleries, offices, a library and reading room, screening room, conference room, and open-air performance site

Getting here on foot is a challenge but takes you right through the old town. The sign posted route takes you almost up to the palace. A very nice serious lady took me around the place as there was none else. Some interesting art from local artists in a beautifully restored house of some courtiers. Wonderfully cool even during the hot summer afternoon. ₹100 donation to enter. If you return through the old town you'll find yourself right next to the Central Asian museum which is a great place to recover after the walk.

The Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation is well maintain good preservation of arts and others. Recently Tibet Museum showcased their museum there too. It was good prep by both and well detailed information.

Amazing views and people with a peaceful library

Two traditional houses are preserved as an art center high in Old Town Leh. The interiors are worth seeing in themselves, plus there's likely a cultural exhibition on. Special presentations take place occasionally. Good views of Leh from the terraces. 100 inr admission. It's a bit difficult to find, but the winding paths are fascinating.

Leh place is an absolutely beautiful tourist spot ageing to old ancient 16th century built up. This place has entry fees. This building has 9 floors and goes in a trapezium shape so that base is able to take the weight of the upper floors. This palace is a enginnering marvel of ancient times. Doors are situated on East as per Tibetan norms. Every floor has quite a number of rooms and are quite spacious. Rooms decreases as we go up and 9th floor has only one room. Situated at a hill top this palace gives a perfect view of the Leh city overall which looks mesmerizing. Must visit if you are in Leh.

Situated in the heart of the city and near to Leh market. Good views from the balconies of the palace and the roof. Walk 50 meters from the parking ,Steep steps to climb, not for old age people and the children who needs to be carried. Entry ticket is minimal, amongst the palaces if one has to choose to see only one,I would suggest Shey palace. Nice temples and magnificent view from the too of Shey palace .

The palace was good, you get the best view of Leh city. The entry ticket is just ₹25/- per person but keep it mind that it has alot of stairs and if we got to see any artifact in the palace that will be cherry on top. The palace was empty. Must visit at the time of sunset, you'll love it

Historical 17th century palace offering stunning views of Leh and surroundings. Entrance fee for foreigners is 300 rupees - the highest fee I've paid in Ladakh. Although the palace looks big, only 4 rooms are open to the public, three of them holding photography/video exhibitions of the area, plus the private royal shrine. The palace has however habilitated three terraces at the top to see the view. I was a bit disappointed by the restoration work done in the few areas open to the public, looked a bit modern, but perhaps reinforcing the corridors with concrete was necessary for structural safety. The walk up the palace is also stunning.

I recently visited Shanti Stupa in Leh and had a truly memorable experience. The site, perched high on a hill, offered a serene atmosphere with very few tourists around, making it peaceful and uncrowded. This made it easy to capture beautiful, tranquil photos without crowds in the background—especially during sunset, which is the best time to visit for breathtaking views of Leh Valley and the glowing mountains. The panoramic view from the stupa at sunset is absolutely stunning, with the changing hues of the sky casting a magical glow over the valley and stupa itself. The climb up is rewarding, but do arrive at least 30–45 minutes before sunset for the best light and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.

The Shanti Stupa is a white-domed Buddhist stupa situated on a hilltop in Leh, Ladakh. Built in 1991, it is a symbol of peace and prosperity and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and Leh city. Purpose: It was built by a Japanese Buddhist organization, The Japanese for World Peace, to promote world peace and commemorate 2,500 years of Buddhism. Builder: The stupa was built under the guidance of Japanese Buddhist monk, Gyomyo Nakamura. The 14th Dalai Lama himself enshrined the relics of the Buddha at its base. Architecture: The gleaming white structure has two levels. The first level depicts the life and teachings of Buddha, while the second level features a central golden Buddha image. Location: It is located in the Chanspa area, about 5 kilometers from Leh town. Due to its elevation, it is an excellent spot to watch the sunrise and sunset. Accessibility: You can reach the stupa by car or by climbing the steep steps to the top. Best time to visit: Morning or late evening are ideal for enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and spectacular views. Hours: It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Things to remember: Given the high altitude, it is recommended to carry water and take your time climbing the stairs.

We visited Shanti Stupa on 13th September 2025, which happened to be a weekend. Although there was a crowd, the place still felt peaceful and calm. The entry fee was nominal, and since it is located at a height, we had to walk uphill. We did experience some breathlessness on the way, but once we reached the top, the effort was truly worth it. The panoramic view of Leh city from the top was stunning, especially during sunset, when the entire landscape looked magical. Many visitors were taking photos and videos, while others were engaged in prayers, adding to the spiritual atmosphere. A must-visit place in Leh, offering both serenity and breathtaking views.

A must-visit spot in Leh! The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking — you can see the whole city and snow-clad mountains glowing at sunset. The climb has quite a few steps, but it’s totally worth it for the peace and calm you feel once you’re up there. The stupa itself is beautifully maintained, especially in the evening when it’s lit up. A perfect place to sit quietly, reflect, and soak in Ladakh’s serenity.

One the most visited Places when In Leh. I won't speak about the history but some important pointers ... The Stupa is on a high altitude make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing as it blows cold wind , the temples inside need you remove your footwear so make sure you have thick socks to avoid cold feet . The views are beautiful and it's a feeling to be felt . Make sure you move clock wise and not anti clock wise around the structures ... It's based on the concept of the wheel of life etc.... Taking back the beautiful feeling ...❤️

Shanti Stupa is another famous tourist spot in Leh. It's a religious place and has an entry fees to enter the place. The mountain ranges of Ladakh are visible from here and again the entire city of Leh is visible from here from the top so it's an amazing view to cherish. Do come here before the sunset else it will look very dull.

At a height of 17982ft or 5480m, this is really high. We were there in mid-June 2025. We got some cloudy weather while driving up, but we saw snowfall taking place for some time. At the top we had the best time ever. Amazing serene setup. Temperature was below zero and light snowfall. Please park your vehicles securely and ensure you are not blocking others.

It was a great experience at Khardungla with snow all around. This place is not generally clad with snow during the month of August, we were lucky to get so much snow there. You are advised to stay there for a short period of time as oxygen level gets reduced there. A must visit for a halt for all those exploring Ladakh.

Visiting Khardung La Pass was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Ladakh. Located around 39 km from Leh, it is often described as one of the highest motorable passes in the world, and the journey to reach here is as breathtaking as the destination itself. The drive from Leh took me through winding mountain roads with spectacular views of snow-clad peaks, deep valleys, and shifting clouds. The higher I went, the thinner the air felt, but the excitement of finally standing at such altitude kept me going. At the top, I was greeted by the famous Khardung La signboard and an incredible 360-degree panorama that is almost impossible to put into words. Snow was scattered around even in summer, and the crisp cold wind made the moment feel even more surreal. There are small stalls serving hot tea and Maggi noodles, which feel like a luxury at this altitude. A hot cup of tea with snow all around you is an experience I’ll never forget. I also saw a few Indian Army personnel, and it’s humbling to realize how strategic this pass is for them while it serves as an adventure spot for us. That said, it’s important to be prepared. The oxygen level is quite low, and I felt slightly breathless and light-headed within minutes of reaching the top. I had taken a day to acclimatize in Leh, which really helped, but I still wouldn’t recommend staying up here for too long. Warm clothing is a must—the temperature drops suddenly, and the wind can be biting cold. The road conditions are mixed. While BRO (Border Roads Organisation) has done an incredible job in maintaining the route, certain stretches remain rough, bumpy, and narrow. Drivers need to be careful, and it’s better to avoid rushing. The ride is thrilling but also demanding, especially for bikers. Another thing to keep in mind is the crowd. Khardung La is very popular, and sometimes the small parking space at the top gets congested with cars and bikes waiting for photos. A little patience goes a long way here. Overall, Khardung La is not just a tourist spot but an achievement. The views, the thrill of the journey, and the sense of standing so high above the clouds make it absolutely worth it. If you plan wisely, acclimatize properly, and carry the right gear, this is an adventure you will cherish forever. ---

Khardung La is a high mountain pass in the Ladakh region of India, located about 40 km north of Leh, serving as the gateway to the Shyok and Nubra valleys. It has an elevation of approximately 5,359 meters (17,582 feet). The pass is significant for its strategic importance to the Indian Army for supplying the Siachen Glacier, and for its status as a popular destination for adventure tourists, particularly motorcyclists. To visit, travelers require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) and should be mindful of the risks of altitude sickness due to the extremely low oxygen levels at its height

The highest motorable pass! Very picturesque. About 30-35 kms from Leh town. Road conditions a bit harsh if there’s rain, otherwise good.

Beautiful place while you are doing local tour of Leh. The colours of two rivers meeting can be seen clearly. There are river rafting facilities available as well, make sure to carry spare clothes. You can also go near the river and spend time if the weather is favourable. The water is chilling cold.

Beautiful to see the river where my ancestors would have have drunk water and revered the Sindhu river. It meets the river Zanskar at this point so it’s beautiful and worth spending quiet moments there.

The confluence of River Indus and Zanskar is an awsome view. The place is commonly known as Sangam. One can see the beautiful confluence from Top or can do down, alongside river to see the two coloured water. The water of river Zanskar is blue green whereas the water of Indus river is bit muddy. The Sangam point has one restaurant (only this was open when we visited) where one can get to eat or book for rafting trip in river Zanskar. The place however has horrible washroom facility. These are basically closed small rooms with a hole on floor. Rafting trip can be taken for 8km (₹900/-), 16 km (₹1800) and 24km. The rafting trip of 8km is suitable for families with kids, as no one gets wet and you boat in still water. The trip of 16km and 24 km are for people looking for adventure. For additional ₹200/- transportation facility till the starting point of rafting can be taken. Since if you drive to the starting point and park your vehicle there, you end up rafting at Sangam point, then you will have ro go back to take your vehicle. If you have hired a taxi, they will also charge you extra to go till starting point. Wet suit and shoes or crocs are provided for the trip of 16km and 24km. Its better to take the trip in sunny weather as the water is really cold plus the wind makes it more cold. You can also bargain a bit depending season or number of tourist.

A truly magical place to see. You can clearly see the 2 rivers meeting each other and eventually flowing as one. There is snacks and coffee available next to this place. Also one can go for river rafting here where they will take you rafting on the sangam point. Things to consider before going for river rafting is the temperature of the water and if there is any heavy flow to the river which will make the rafting enjoyable. A must visit place.

Good tourist destination, one can witness the confluence of two rivers Indus and Zanskar. It's similar to that of Sangam in prayagraj i.e. the confluence of Ganga, Jamuna, Saraswati. It's a good place for photo sessions. One can capture various backgrounds.

No one should miss this nature’s marvel while in Leh/Ladakh region. The views are spectacular with clear line of merging water from both the rivers. Don’t miss the top views from the scenic spot at the highway before arriving down to the confluence spot.

Visited Magnetic Hill today — the so-called spot where your car is supposed to move uphill on its own, defying gravity. Like most people, I was curious and a bit excited to finally see this “anti-gravity” phenomenon that Leh is known for. But to be honest, it was underwhelming. We parked exactly on the marked spot, followed the instructions, and waited. Nothing. No mysterious pull, no uphill movement. Tried shifting into neutral, waited again — still nothing. Other vehicles around us seemed to have the same experience. I’d heard earlier that it was an optical illusion — that the layout of the surrounding hills creates a false sense of slope, making a downhill road appear to be uphill. And maybe once upon a time, that illusion did work. But now, with newly tarred roads, clearer surroundings, and our phone GPS showing actual elevation, the trick just doesn’t land anymore. You can actually see with the naked eye that the road slightly slopes downhill — so the mystery kind of dissolves. The location itself is scenic, no doubt. Vast open plains, dusty mountains, and the endless sky make for a great photo stop. But if you’re expecting some magnetic marvel — manage your expectations.

I don’t see the magic everyone hyped for. Its a marked place by some people. Yes once your car engine put off, it gets moved, but it’s because of slope.

Visited July 19 2025 – Day 16 in India We spent a lovely afternoon at Magnetic Hill about 30 kilometers from Leh guided by our wonderful tour guide Angmo. She brought the place to life with her deep knowledge and warm storytelling. Though we did not notice any magnetic pull ourselves the experience was delightful and our two little girls ages 5 and 7 absolutely loved it. Magnetic Hill is a curious stretch of road locally famous as a gravity hill where vehicles parked in neutral appear to drift uphill defying logic. Many visitors believe in an unseen magnetic force while others explain it as an optical illusion shaped by the landscape and obstructed horizon. Mountains rising around the road trick the eye into misjudging the slope. Despite the science the legend of a road to heaven whispered by locals adds a layer of mystic charm. Angmo encouraged us to park the vehicle in a painted box on the road and though nothing dramatic occurred we took many photos capturing wide Himalayan panoramas and our girls giggling in wonder. The barren hills framed by distant snowy peaks and the flowing Indus River nearby offered a serene almost spiritual backdrop. Magnetic Hill holds significance as one of Ladakh’s most talked about roadside attractions. It is not just about whether the physics defy gravity it is about being in a striking high altitude landscape witnessing how perception and legend intertwine. The sense of mystery even subtle lingers in your memory long after you have continued driving along the Leh to Kargil road. Angmo’s gentle guidance enthusiasm and patience with our children made it even more special. She explained the theories shared stories of local folklore answered our endless questions and helped us feel connected to the land and its history. Although we did not feel our car being pulled upward what we experienced was far richer — the beauty of remote Ladakh framed by a whimsical myth joyful children exploring nature’s quirks and a guide who cared about our comfort and curiosity. I happily give Magnetic Hill four stars. It is a place where the landscape surprises you and stories unfold. With Angmo’s help it became a memory our family will cherish — a perfect blend of scenery intrigue and heartfelt guidance.

I visited Magnetic Hills last week while on a trip to Ladakh with my dad. On our second day in Leh, we rented a bike specifically to visit this spot since so many people had recommended it. Unfortunately, the actual destination turned out to be extremely underwhelming. It’s basically just a spot marked in the middle of a busy highway where you’re expected to stop your vehicle and “see the magic” — which, as it turns out, is just an optical illusion. No one told us it only works with four-wheelers, so being on a bike, we didn’t experience anything at all. The highway was bustling with fast-moving vehicles, yet ironically, no one was actually around at the Magnetic Hill spot. There’s an ATV, Viking ride, and zip-lining area set up on one side, but all of it was shut when we visited. So, after a long ride to get there, we ended up seeing… pretty much nothing. That said, I’m still giving this place 3 stars purely because the drive was stunning. The roads are beautifully maintained, and the landscape is absolutely gorgeous — that part made it worth it. We were stopped twice for an inner line permit check (which we had already arranged online), so just a heads-up if you’re planning to head that way. One local guy we met there told us that years ago, if you placed a compass on the marked spot, it wouldn’t point in any direction — but he said that doesn’t really happen anymore. I’m not sure how much of that is true, but it kind of sums up the vibe: cool in theory, not much in practice. Overall: a lovely drive, but unless you have loads of time and just want to be somewhere quiet, I wouldn’t recommend making Magnetic Hills a priority

Magnetic hills are 30 mins away from Leh city and you can find it on the way to Indus-Zanskar ricer confluence point. The myth here is that bike or car automatically moves due to higher gravity but its only an optical illusion. However, you get amazing photos here if no one are around because its a straight road in the middle of the mountains. You can also do ATV ride nearby. It can also be a good pitstop as there are some eateries around.

It's a neat and clean place and, the road is well built, the mountain background gives it a very romantic look. However the magnetic hill phenomena is a farce, the road is naturally going downhill and any stationery vehicle will start moving if brakes are not applied. Anyway because of magnetic hill propaganda it has become a nice tourist place.

Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib in Leh is a very peaceful and beautiful place to visit. It is not just for Sikhs, but people from all religions come here, and everyone feels the same calm and positivity. The moment you enter, you get a sense of peace. The place is surrounded by mountains, and the view itself is so soothing. The gurudwara is very clean and well-maintained. The people who manage it are very kind and always welcoming. They make you feel at home. The best part is the langar (free food) they serve. It’s simple but very tasty, and eating there feels really nice because it’s made with love and served with respect. There is also a story behind the gurudwara about Guru Nanak Ji and the rock (pathar), which makes the place even more special. You can actually see the rock inside, and it feels very spiritual. One thing I really liked was how everyone is treated equally here. You sit together, eat together, and pray together. The atmosphere is very positive, and it gives you a break from the busy or tiring travel schedules of Leh. If you are visiting Leh, this is a must-visit place. It’s not just about religion; it’s about peace, kindness, and humanity. I felt really calm and happy after spending time here, and I would definitely suggest others to visit too. For me, it was a very heart-touching experience.

This famous tourist spot falls while going to Magnetic hill and Indus Zanskar sangam point. Very peaceful place. You can have tea outside. Langar happens here you can join the same. Offer your prayers to waheguru and seek his blessings. It was amazing to see a gurudwara ar this high altitude and difficult terrain.

We visited the Gurudwara on 13th September 2025. The atmosphere was truly soothing and calming, offering a deep sense of peace the moment we entered. There was no ticket or waiting period required, which made the visit very convenient. It was not crowded, and the Langar was being served, adding to the spiritual experience. What made it even more special was seeing Army personnel humbly performing the service, which was both inspiring and heartwarming. This is undoubtedly one of the must-visit places in Leh, not just for its religious significance but also for the serenity and devotion it embodies.

As part of exploring Leh local sightseeing, we visited Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib — a beautiful and serene historical Gurudwara built in memory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Located at an altitude of about 12,000 ft on the Leh–Kargil road, around 30 km from Leh, it is maintained with great care by the Indian Army. The place is peaceful and spiritually uplifting, and we were fortunate to enjoy an awesome lunch at the Langar. Truly a must-visit spot in Leh to experience both devotion and warmth.

A Peaceful Experience at Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji (Visited on 14th June 2025) During our journey to Leh from Kargil, my friends and I had the privilege of visiting Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji on 14th June 2025. Nestled at an elevation of 12,000 feet above sea level, this sacred place is a true embodiment of peace and spirituality. The serene and tranquil atmosphere of the gurdwara amidst the rugged mountains is an experience that touches the soul. The Gurdwara Pathar Sahib is not just a place of worship, but a significant historical site. It is believed that the divine power of Guru Nanak Ji played a crucial role in the establishment of this gurdwara. According to legend, the story goes that a massive boulder, which was thrown by a local demon to harm the Guru, miraculously turned into a soft rock upon Guru Nanak Ji’s blessings. The boulder is still preserved inside the gurdwara, and visitors can view it as a symbol of divine intervention and Guru Nanak’s unwavering spiritual strength. This story reflects the power of faith and the divine grace of Guru Nanak Ji, offering deep spiritual insight to all those who visit. Upon reaching the gurdwara, we were struck by the beautifully constructed structure against the backdrop of the majestic mountains. The peaceful sound of gurbani (holy hymns) playing in the background as we entered the premises added a sense of serenity and calm. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Matt from Chicago and Marie from Germany, who were touring India on their motorcycles. They were such jolly and warm-hearted individuals, and we immediately connected with them. It was wonderful to share stories, laugh, and bond with these two travel enthusiasts who had come from opposite corners of the world but found themselves united in this sacred place. Their positive energy and genuine kindness added to the overall warmth of the experience. The location of Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Ji, situated in the Leh region of Jammu and Kashmir, makes it an ideal stop for anyone traveling between Kargil and Leh. The scenic drive, along with the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, adds to the overall beauty of the experience. The views to the Alchi monastery is panoramic. Not many Indians visit this place since it’s far from Leh town. Highly recommending this spot to witness all the villages until this place, the local culture and the history attached. One of a kind monastery build by mud and hand painted Buddha life pictures.

Alchi Monastery was built, by the great translator Guru Rinchen Zangpo between 958 and 1055. Dukhang or Vairocana Lhakhang and the Main Temple Sum Tsek have been built in Kashmiri style. The third temple called the Manjushri Temple has impressive image of Manjushri. The Alchi complex has two other important temples, the Translator's temple called the 'Lotsabha Lakhang' and a new temple called the 'Lakhang Soma'. Now protected by Archaeological survey of India, photography is prohibited inside any of the temples.

Wonderful ancient Buddhist monastery. With 4 temples open to the public when I visited, I still remember the wooden carvings and religious wall paintings. Walking through these temples was a very special spiritual experience - one of my favourite monasteries in Ladakh, would definitely recommend! Note: Toilet are available at no cost, the monastery requires to leave phones and cameras in a locker before entering.

Alchi monastery is well worth the visit, with multiple small temples and beautiful murals, some of the oldest in Ladakh. You reach the complex through a pretty pathway lined with hawkers selling handicrafts, and many prayer wheels. The temples are peaceful and well managed, though the damage to some of the murals is apparent - through water seepage and structural issues. Would strongly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

It’s a nice walk and is good monastery for old ppl to explore w walkable path instead of steps. Nice old structure and lovely statues. Photography isn’t allowed and lockers are provided for mobiles n belongings. Nice small shops enroute which provides an option to buy small souvenirs and lots of cafés to enjoy snacks. 100 rs ticket per person.

The special place with Buddhist culture through Thangka paintings, giant statues and temple architecture from over 1000 years ago. Outside the temples are planted with many Ladakh apricot and apple trees... so, when I stepped inside I was overwhelmed by the mysterious beauty that has been preserved for thousands of years. So, I think that, this place you should visit when traveling to Ladakh.

Beautiful Monastery, perched on a quiet hilltop!! Likir Monastery is a beautiful and serene spot. The location is excellent, offering great views of the valley. The 75-foot Maitreya Buddha statue is the centerpiece and worth the drive alone—it's incredibly majestic. We did it as a part of 1 day site seeing trip from Leh. The views from the hilltop are lovely. The monastery itself is well-maintained, though perhaps a little less grand in scale compared to some of the other major monasteries closer to Leh. It’s worth stopping by, especially if you are already traveling on the Leh-Srinagar highway route.

It's a beautiful village with a beautiful monastery. The backdrop of the monastery is stunning as well and has a large seated statue of Buddha. It's only 1hr from leh and the roads are pretty good leading up to the gompa. If you love a peaceful place, this is definitely one of them.

Located in a secluded area, few kms away from the Leh Kargil highway, this place is really quiet, which is essential for the monastery activities . Had a great spiritual time here, situated at the midst of the mountains, when I went in the month of jan, not many people were there and just 2 3 monks were there. The highlight of this monastery is the huge open Buddha statue which is magnificent.

Beautiful small Buddhist monastery located on the top of a hill. Two temples were opened when we visited on a Sunday after lunch- the museum was closed. The temples were well maintained and had beautiful wall paintings. Outside the monastery you can visit a gigant Eden Buddha statue.

Beautiful location.....so peaceful. Huge Buddha Statue with stunning mountains in the background. Likir is a small village and mostly people visit this place only to visit this Gompa. Do visit a nearby school also to play around with local kids :)

This monastery is located in a scenic setting just a few KMs from the NH1- surrounded by tall snow capped mountains, picturesque houses and villages, tall poplar trees, and peaceful atmosphere. The monastery itself is beautiful but is quite similar in structure and layout to the other monasteries around Ladakh. The walls of the main temple are covered with colorful paintings and beautiful motifs. There are statues of the many Buddhas and past rinpoches inside. There were very few people when we were here and the place felt calm and serene. There's a big and recent statue of Maitreya or future Buddha at the back of the temple. Make sure you circumnavigate the whole place because the views from the back are also very beautiful.

The Diskit Monastery also known as Deskit Gompa or Diskit Gompa is the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in Diskit, Nubra Valley of the Leh District of Ladakh. It is 115 km north of Leh. Like most other Monasteries, this too is located on top of a Hill and offers Spectacular Views of the Surrounding Areas. There is a Large, Very Beautiful Statue of Lord Buddha in this Monastery and the area is Very Serene too. There is also a Café located in the premises where you can have some Snacks and Beverages too. It is Undoubtedly one of the Must Visit Places of Tourist Attraction when visiting Nubra Valley.

Diskit Gompa is a stunning and peaceful monastery, and one of the highlights of Nubra Valley. Perched on a hill, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The towering statue of Maitreya Buddha is truly awe-inspiring and adds to the spiritual charm of the place. Inside the monastery, you’ll find beautiful murals, ancient scriptures, and a calm atmosphere perfect for quiet reflection. The climb up involves a few steps, but the serenity and views from the top make it completely worth it. The location is not only spiritually uplifting but also a photographer’s delight. If you’re exploring Nubra Valley, Diskit Gompa is a must-visit to experience both cultural heritage and natural beauty together.

Diskit Monastery is truly beautiful. When I visited the main monastery, I also entered the sacred Protector Room. According to legend, in ancient times, a Mongolian warrior once tried to destroy the Protector’s statue—but the Protector’s power struck back, cutting off the warrior’s hand.

Lovely buddhist monastery. Must visit when in Nubra Valley, Ladakh. They also offer free butter tea to all visitors. However, it is quite a climb by stairs.

Very lovely place - must visit in Nubra. We slept in monastery guesthouse and it was be perfect experience. This place is so calmfull and reliogious with history atmosphere. Diskit monastery is the biggest monastery in Nubra Valley from 14. century.

Rangdum (Zanskar, Ladakh) Remote, raw, and overwhelmingly beautiful — Rangdum is where silence speaks the loudest. Surrounded by snow-draped mountains and vast open meadows, it feels like the edge of the world, untouched and timeless. The solitude here is humbling. With the iconic Rangdum Monastery standing tall amidst this dramatic landscape, the place carries a deep sense of peace and spirituality. Whether you're watching the clouds drift over distant peaks or capturing the golden light on stone walls, every moment in Rangdum feels sacred. It's not just a stop on the way to Zanskar — Rangdum is a destination in itself, where nature and stillness hold you in quiet awe.

Rangdum Monastery is a Tibetan Buddist Monastery. Located between Kargil and Padum, physically in the Suru Valley, Rangdum is culturally part of Zanskar and is known for its stunning location at the edge of the valley. Rangdum monastery was developed by Gelek Yashi Takpa before 200 years ago. This is an impressive structure, perched on a hill, and features traditional Tibetan architectural styles.

We could see Rangdum Gompa straight ahead, and it becomes visible from quite far away. But we were real hungry, so we headed just ahead to. Alpine Hut. Not much of a choice, so we ordered noodles with egg, and it sure tasted awesome. The food was steaming, and once finished we felt all fired up to continue to Panikar. The route is all gravel, but is still good, and one can drive at 60 comfortably. The best part is there is no entry fees.

A calm and quiet environment. We were shown around by a friendly young monk. The villagers were lending their hands in the daily chores of the monastery. The sight of the river spreading in the valley, cattle grazing, the distant mountains and the clear skies made a beautiful sight from the monastery.

Rangdum Monastery is located in between Kargil and Padum which belongs to the Gelugpa sect at a height of 3657 meter on a top of a hill. It is situated near by the village of Rangdum. Rangdum Gompa is Tibetan Buddhist monastery which belongs to the Gelugpa sect. The monastery is build over a small hill and well-established around by the bifurcated way of a mountain stream. Rangdum monastery was developed by Gelek Yashi Takpa before 200 years ago. This period belongs to King Tsewang Mangyul and only 40 monks lives in this monastery. The monastery has lots of gems,wonderful ancient statues,mural paintings and even museum which take us back to the golden old days. Best place for Spiritual seeker and ancient history seeker explorer 🪷🪷🪷

Lovely place. Lovely people. Super pure air. Super food. Love love love. Strongly recommend here to stay and enjoy the vibes. Fantastic. You can see the mountains and glaciers. Lush green valleys. Water flowing which you can drink right away from the roads. Come here enjoy and keep the place clean and green. Stop plastic pollution and do not litter in public. Respect nature and keep enjoying and keep travelling.

This is a must visit place when you are in Nubra valley in Ladakh. Mesmerizing sand dunes by the colourful mountains is a sight to behold. There are many activities here to engage you. The most popular one is the double hump bactarian camel ride. You can see double humped bactarian camels here in India. Watching a sunrise or sunset here I am sure would be amazing. Please keep the place clean when you visit 🙏

The Hunder Sand Dunes were an unexpected surprise in the middle of the cold desert of Nubra Valley. The landscape is absolutely surreal—golden sand dunes surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The highlight for me was the ride on the Bactrian (double-humped) camels, something you won’t find in many places in India. Sunset here is magical, the entire area glows in warm tones. It’s a peaceful and serene spot to just walk around, click some amazing photos, and soak in the contrast of desert and mountains. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ladakh, don’t miss this unique experience.

Very scenic road from leh to nubra… people who are travelling to nubra valley using google maps.. please ensure that location of nubra valley in google maps is very far from hunder… nubra valley is basically a valley and you need to find stays in diskit or hunder or any other small villages. I’ve seen many people going to nubra valley just by searching in google maps. Hunder has many more options for stay than diskit.

It's an average place to visit unless you are spiritual and follow Buddhist culture otherwise there's nothing else. It's a very small place which is allowed for tourists, from outside it looks big due to their school but that's not allowed for outsiders. Entrance is Rs 50 per person

We didn't go into the monastery but had lunch at the restaurant right at the entrance. We did some nice photographs of the monastery from a distant vantage point around the sunset. Few hundred meters above the monastery is a nice photo point overlooking the moon landscape. It seems accessible by walking from Monastery otherwise you need to take a bit of a road detour

Nice place to visit in Srignar Leh highway. The place gaves you the spectacular view of the Lamayuru/The Moon Land and offers us a spiritual experience. We were able to see some rituals performed by Monks. It also contain some prehistoric documents on Budhuism. The monastry is a must visit if you are travelling this route.

A beautiful old 11th century monastry, high up from the town, I was lucky to see a ceremony when I visited here. I stayed in the village bellow, and it was a nice walk up through the walk ways through the oldest part of Lamayuru.

A picturesque monastery placed in the Ladakh hills very near to the Moonlands. The scenic beauty from the top of the monastery is simply out of the world. It is one of the biggest as well as oldest monastery in Middle Ladakh. Have a nice and cool time there with family and friends.

Lamayuru Monastery, nestled innthe backdrop of Ladakh’s surreal moonscape hills, is a peaceful, ancient sanctuary. Its spiritual inner chamber radiates peace, adorned with ancient books and vibrant murals. Rows of prayer wheels line the courtyards.

Lamayuru monastery founded in the 11th century belongs to the Tibetan Kagyupa sect. For sheer spectacle value no other gompa can match Lamayuru. The oldest part of the monastery called Sengge Lhakhang is all that remains of possibly five Lhakhangs from 11th century.

The Nubra Valley is an amazing sand dunes desert at high altitude, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. It’s known as a high-altitude desert and is located just a few kilometers from Khardung La Pass. When you visit Nubra Valley, you must try the camel safari. The two-humped camels found there are rare and can only be seen here in Nubra Valley, Ladakh, India. And for the camel ride they usually charge around ₹500 per person I'm not sure about the current price. If you want to experience the starlit sky, you can stay at one of the camps in Nubra Valley. Talking about the route from Khardung La to Nubra Valley is absolutely beautiful. The road is straight in most parts, and along the way, you’ll come across small water crossings, stunning mountains, widely spread desert landscapes, and much more. We really enjoyed the drive the scenic roads, the weather, and the whole experience. When you're visiting Leh Ladhak you must visit Nubra Valley if possible then from bike. However, make sure to reach your destination before sunset, as there’s little to no street lighting, which can make traveling difficult after dark.

Good Place to spend a lazy afternoon. Slightly over crowded. On the bed of Sayok river a river created small dessert formed on 1929. Bactrian camel rides, archery etc events. Can be done there.

Just Awesome. Beautiful Budhha statue cut in the rock face a thousand years back accompanied with a small monastery. So peaceful. Takes half an hour to visit.

On the National highway road touch a monestry or temple of Budhha is called maitray Budhha or Mulbekh chamba Budhha statue. One of the monastery's most remarkable features is the imposing rock-carved statue of Maitreya Buddha, which stands tall at around nine metres. This striking sculpture, carved into a natural rock face, is believed to be one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Ladakh.

This is tranquil beyond words, unless you get stuck with a bunch of motor mount tourists like I did. This 800 year old temple is dedicated to Maitrey Buddha and has a statue taller than the temple premise. There are many restaurants opposite to the temple and they serve good food. It is surrounded by scenic landscapes which provide ample photo opportunities.

Very Beautiful image of Buddha & nice temple on the Leh - Kargil highway. Very relaxing place .There are some homestays and restaurant in Mulbekh near this beautiful Buddha statue. Also if stay in Mulbekh village you can go around for small walks also.

The Chamba Buddha Statue is grand and beautiful. It's located bang on the NH1. There's a small temple or gompa around the foot of the statue. There were very few people when we visited and it felt very peaceful and serene. The area at the back of the statue is also quite beautiful.

Gigantic ancient carving of Buddha inside of gorgeous lil monastery 🕉️🪷🗿 Incredible energy in this off beat place located in the middle of nowhere 🌌💫❣️✨ I reeeeally enjoyed the super old paintings adorning these walls, rafters, and entree ways 👨‍🎨🎨🖌️ Awesome spot to get out and stretch your legs while taking it all in y'all 🫠❤️‍🔥🎆🎉
