I love beaches with waves, but as the name "Batu Karas" suggests, there are lots of corals and rocks along the sides of the beach, which makes it less ideal for swimming near the shore—unless you go further out toward the sea. There are many surfers here, and my favorite spots are the quiet ones like this, especially with the swing. The deep blue ocean truly mesmerized me

Good place to stop and take a break! Its a crowded area so finding food is not hard, you can also swim here, the wave is not that high, the wind is not that windy, child is safe to swim here Oh and its very hot so be sure to wear thin clothes!

Nice beach with less crowd. Compared to Pangandaran Beach. Best place to relax, get ur skin tan, playing around with your kids, or even learn to surfing. The wave was not so big, kinda friendly, so it good for first timer surfer. It also has various rides such as speed boats, banana boats, even donut boats. Must try the donut boats 👍

I visited this place on Eid Holiday.. In the early morning, you can enjoy the beach, play with the wave but in afternoon, the situation changed, it's so crowded. Many people swim in the beach.

Long stretch of beach, perfect for a walk or a horse ride. Lots of stalls under the shade of trees selling cool drinks and snacks. Local people were very friendly and helpful. The ocean was nice for a cool dip but best not to go out too far as the currents are strong. The beach was quite dirty on the weekend but the local people cleaned it on Monday.

There are a lot of visitors, range from kids, teenagers and adults. Affordable ticket prices make it a favorite tourist spot for families. Many visitors is come from West Java area, Jakarta, Banten, Central Java and also from East Java. When we going to go to the location, we will get a nice views like rice field, hills and trees. Feel comfortable to have a long stay on this beach.

This beach is typical beach of south side of Java island, it has medium to massive wave and current. Locals are friendly and the price range is relatively inexpensive. The beach are divided into 2 positions (east and west), where in the east we can find sunrise point and lot of its part used by fisherman to tight off their boats, buy souvenirs, eat seafood, or do the water sport such as banana boat and snorkeling. West part is where you want to see the sunset, swimming (please always aware of flag pole that set by the lifeguard indicating under water strong current), and renting boat to go to nature preserve location of pangandaran (you should ask for guide if want to go this way since you are not entering the location from main gate). Suggestion given is need more life guard patrolling on the west side beach since a lot of swimmer in this area.

Even though the shop giving 20% off discount, the egg was too too salty comparing other salt egg I found in other shop. The sample egg -when I was there- in one compartment with a fly and before I came, there is no effort seen to get rid of it. However, the snack in shop were various and relatively cheap, so I bought it most rather than the eggs. Need to improve in hygiene and kindness

It's big a shop. Selling all kind of salty eggs. Some of the salty eggs are not perfectly done, maybe because they cook lots of it. The salty eggs are nice, although they are selling a little bit cheaper from their competitor, however, I do prefer salty eggs from another shop.

I believe this is the most well know place for tourists to buy salted egg. Not the cheapest, because the modest vendor next to it sells with better price. But YES is the most "tourists-ready". I'll come here again for their Bapao Telor Asin, Wingko Babat, and their sitting toilet. (well not everyone can squat!) Totally recommended.

The Purwokerto station is conveniently located in the middle of the city. It is easy to reach by car and there is ample parking. The drop-off area is very well organized and there are many porters ready to assist. The station building is very well organized and it is very clean. There are automated ticket machines which can print your tickets, and also manual ticket offices if needed. You can wait in the ticket office area, or in the waiting hall, located after the validation of the tickets. Also the waiting hall is very clean, and so are the toilets. You can also wait outside, and watch the trains come and go. The announcements for your train are only made in Bahasa, but there are also monitors with all information needed. We traveled first class and it is worth noting that the trains between Jakarta and Yogjakarta aren’t turned around. So if you are in the train car next to the locomotive traveling from Jakarta to Yogjakarta, the same train car will be at the end of the train in the opposite direction. The staff at the station are very friendly and helpful.

after I checked in, I can not find any charging point in the waiting room. Not as the other train station where I can find charging point everywhere. the waiting room itself quite tiny, not that spacious. literally on the circulation area. I wish after the expansion and renovation, it will be more better.

They have spacious waiting area. Spacious parking area. Good service. Clean environment and clean restroom. They also have many boarding check machine. They have many convenience store, restaurant, cafe, executive lounge, ATM gallery, good customer service, good ticketing service. Overall is outstanding.

Almost the same with another train station in Indonesia. This station built since 18 centuries, and managed-operated by PT Kereta Api (Persero) which is one of the State-Owned Enterprise in Indonesia. There is good ambience here, and I think this is one of the most important train station in Middle Java. As a recommendation, there must be a significant change for their toilet at main hall (public). Its position is quite far from main hall and there is no proper access, especially for people with disabilities.

The station is so big. They have AC waiting room and charger area. The toilet super clean so don't worry 😉. All of officers very kind and helpful but the minus is the place for antigen is so far though. Im tired lmao but despite of that, the services of this station is amazing. Keep it up 👍🏻

Nice staff, really helpful. It was very small back then, and government renovated it. And it turns out be a nice clean large ac-friendly train station nowadays. It only took 5 hours from jakarta if you use executive train such as taksaka train. At waiting room, there is a playground area for kids even its kinda small though.

The station is small but comfortable and clean. There are very neat arrangements inside and outside the station, the attendants are very helpful and polite. Prayer room available.

Alun - alun purwokerto ( purwokerto town square ) is located in the center of purwokeerto. We visited in the morning , and we walked around . The area are neat and clean , even the size of town square weren't big.this place closed with mosque, goverment office and rita mall.

The heart large square field of town that exist from colonial era surrounded by goverment buildings, other classic housings and big mosque. People is passing by night and day for just walking or find something to eat of snack around it. Easy spot of meeting point for most people who came to town.

Temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic as I and my wife stopped here recently. The historical town square of the former Purwokerto City (now part of Banyumas Regency) in Central Java Province is a vast, clean and well organized green grass field located within a busy business center and government office area. Streets with heavy traffic. The square is surrounded by the popular giant Rita Pasaraya Mall and restaurants to the South, the Baitussalam Grand Mosque and an ATM Center to the West, offices of the Regent and the Local House of Representatives to the North, and BRI Bank to the East. At night the sidewalk facing the Rita Pasaraya becomes a lively place with street food stalls.

Very nice place if you visit at night. There a lot of food vendors diverse, very suitable when you visit to fill the spare time. Square decorated with Fountain around posts 'purwokerto' and writing 'purwokerto' can change the color in a matter of second. This square also close to the mall and city crowd purwokerto.

Menganti beach is the ones of our wish list to visit. We need aware about the main road to reach this place . The road is narrow , up and down hills . The entrance is 25.000 rupiah per person and free of parking . You will down the hills to reach the parking area, and you must make sure that your motorcyle or car in good condition. We will parking in the left area and the right area is parking for the guest who will stay in cottage or camping ground , actually the parking on right side will open for public at 5 p.m base on information from the driver of shutle car . By the way the ticket entrance was include parking fee and shutle car so you can use shutle car to visit right area of menganti beach . You can walk and play at the beach but you need to aware about the rock in coastline , you can't swim , it is not typical of beach with white or black sand , almost cover by rock even from the small size to the big ones. You can enjoy the surrounding area and take a lot picture on a good scenery or spot. If you feel hungry you can buy the local food in the stall or shop from the local community and please make sure the price before you order to prevent unreasonable price .

As a tourist destination, it is well-managed by the locals and quite clean considering how packed this place is every day. Tickets are cheap at IDR20.000 each and you don’t need to pay for anything else (except food and drinks), not even for the shuttle ride. Minus points would be that you’d have to be in a great shape to walk around the site. The steps aren’t for the faint of heart (literally). And the food stalls could have been better organized. But it’s nothing compared to the whole experience.

Pantai Menganti is indeed such a beautiful place!! 😍 But the area is quite large and spread out. At first, I was a bit confused because there are two main parts. The first one is where you can enjoy the sea view from the bridge, and the second one (a bit farther away, definitely not walkable) is where you can actually swim and play on the sandy beach. Overall, the beach is absolutely amazing! 🌊✨

I can get early check-in without prior notice and request, so that is nice. I booked the executive room, so it was not bad. Breakfast is bad, not good, they run out fresh juice but they decline my request to top up. Swimming pool floor is slippery, they used wrong ceramics. Very dangerous.

Ive stayed in the brand new hotel room. Its nice clean and strangely (in a good way) spacious twin bed room. As for the food I actually not a good fan of hotel dishes, but this place served a tasty traditional dishes. This hotel also packed with various tourist promotion. Easy access and great offers make this hotel suitable for family stay.

Hotel facilities a bit aged, there is a warm water pool but the rest are cold water. Gym facilities are not maintained. The sound proof for the family room is a big problem, the, there was an event with loud music until late night, we can't rest until the event end. The location is near to city of Benjanagra.

A big amusement park equipped with a hotel. This park provides anything you need for a holiday: swimming pool, jacuzzi and spa, futsal, billiard, instragammable photo backgrounds (imitated world spots and others), movie theatre, simple zoo, mini market, children playground. Worth to stay overnight in the hotel to enjoy the whole facilities. However, cleanliness really should be improved especially in the room, bathroom, aisles between rooms and swimming pool. Many features in the water park have been over used, weather worn, and need to be renewed. Special swimming pool for the hotel guess are located on the top of the building, and are quite clean and more reliable (with hot water tub, deep pool and children pool).

Nice place to spend your day off with your family. Complete facilities. From affordable hotel, waterpark, rafting, cinema, billiard, karaoke, cafe, manasik hajj. The parking lot is spacious, but the parking lot for motorycle in the second floor is too steep. The bath rooms are many and easily found near each pool. The lockers are also safe.

My suggestion: lower your expectation when you check in, you may find this hotel beyond satisfaction. I didn't expect to find great hotel in such a small city. What an oasis! It is an old fashioned hotel so if you're looking for sophistication, this is not for you. But the people here are so nice and the hotel has so many facilities you can use. Cinema, sports facilities (futsal, river rafting, pool tables), karaoke, 3D arts, waterpark, you may want to spend a whole day here just to use them.

Hotel is bad, dirty. See the real picture. This is the superior room. I booked 2 room and ask front office if we can have both rooms at same floor. They said it only available on other building. Since we already bring down all our luggages to the building for check-in and we have 2 elder with us, we asked if they can help us to bring our luggages to other building. They replied we can take it in our car to that building. Ok with no help offered, i decide it is fine to have the room at different floor compared to the trouble moving to next building. Unfortunately, another dissapointment is what i got once i entered the room. Bed is deflated when i sit on it.

Cozy place for family leisure. You can ride watercycle (sepeda air I mean) or Perahu Naga to explore this dam. The ticket price for perahu naga is 20k and 15k for sepeda air

Glagah beach is very wonderful. It has nice view of its wave breaker blocks. It has many food and souvenir stalls. Now it's near the new International Yogyakarta Airport. ☀️

the location is very close to the yogyakarta international airport (Kulon Progo). along the road from the entrance there are many souvenir shops and seafood dishes (fried fish, fried prawns, fried undur², etc.) it's better to come on weekdays to avoid crowds, and get photos with a good view 😉 for activities you can rent a boat, play on the beach, or enjoy the sea view while drinking coffee or drinking coconut ice 🥥🌴

Lovely as always. This’s not typical tourist beaches. Well yeah there’r some tourist kinda spots in the main Pantai Glagah, known as Pemecah ombak. Usually crowded at weekends for sure. I suggest you to go a bit more into the western area. Voila! You’ll find peaceful beach with some local fishermen. The sunset is absolutely mesmerizing!

A lengthy beach, with sound waves, but unfortunately dirty and unpleasant smell. There are a lot small cafés and food stalls.

One of the best beaches around this area. It has breakwaters. It also has swimming pools for children, souvenir shops, and a lake in which you can take a "perahu bebek" ride. There are many food courts that have seafood dishes.

Serene and peaceful if you want to get away from the bustling Jogja town center. Getting here would required one to drive through some narrow roads and if you are not good at traveling in a windy road, this is not for you. This plane is about 20 mins away from the Kalibiru which one can see the cloud, the jogja international airport, the padi fields and the mountains range in the near vicinity.

This place has a nice view and recommended for camping with family or friends. We can see the sunrise but unfortunately can't see the sunset. There are food sellers there, so no need to worry if we're hungry. There are clean toilets, parking is also neatly organized.

actually, the camping ground is on the "taman bambu runcing". Nice camping place with friends. There is no limitations for how you should place your tents, So I recommend you to came in 3 pm. This place has great view and the most important is clean. But I do have complain about how the tap water color is kinda white😂. But, I guess it is hygiene enough so never mind. You can also fishing in here. Very recommended

Sermo is a dam with a scenic view, holding approximately 25 million cubic meters at the normal water level. The dam was built at the Rancah River, a tributary of the Progo river system. This reservoir serves 3,000 hectares farming land and the remaining outflow runs into the Bawang River. The dam was constructed in the Kulonprogo Regency, starting in the year 1994, completed and inaugurated on 20 November 1996 by the Indonesian Republic President, Soeharto. Currently the dam is managed by a specific dam management unit under the Ministry of Public Works and Housings. Local tourism flourishes within the dam’s greenbelt.

Good view. Poor service. Too slow. Really disorganized. Standard price. The recommended dishes here: fried tofu, sayur asam, and grilled chicken. Others are really below standard.

Located in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, it's a medium-sized reservoir. A beautiful view on the water and the green surrounding mountains. There is a large parking lot with gazebos, some food shops and motor boats for a trip around. A good restaurant named Top View not far from the parking lot offers delicious Javanese and popular foods with a cozy atmosphere, a lodging, a clean toilet and a musholla. The place is dark and desolate at night. Recommended attractions nearby include Pule Payung view resort and Kopi Pari cafe.

The spot isn't large, but the view is amazing. We visited this place passing a dam called Waduk Sermo, climbing up a hill with very steep and narrow road. After quite long climb...we reached the top and as I had expected (I saw the pics on Google) we saw a beautiful dam surrounded by green carpet all over the hill.

Nice spot to spend time, beautiful view. The only problem is the road to go there is quite challenging. You can enjoy nice view of waduk sermo from this area. Fresh air and calm nature will rejuvenate your soul. However, there's few activities that closed at the time I visit this place (mostly due to not enough visitors after the pandemic). Also not many food stall that open to bussiness, afaik only 4 on top and 2-3 at the parking lot.

The views are beautiful, especially during morning sun. Big and tall trees around. A view of a reservoir might be the best part. Many spots for photoshoots. Either free or paid and taken by a photographer. But to get here is a struggle itself. The road is too steep and narrow. No clear sign that direct you to the place. Be careful because side by side is deep cliffs. The trip itself is also an amazing journey. Parking lot is also a problem during peak season. Not really enough to accommodate visitors because it is too narrow.

I was a bit disappointed by this park to be honest. It's quite a far drive and it's not very big. We had bad weather, which probably didn't help. Also, all the photo spots are closed between 12-1pm, so we couldn't even access the platforms. The drive towards it was nice though!

It's a very good place for family. There are many spots for capturing pictures. But you need to pay some money each person to climb onto the spot. Yet you can also capture moments for free in any spots possible. The parking garage is available 200 m from the entrance. You may rent an ojek or you can walk by yourself. (I personally find it unworthy😅) Oh, actually 4 KM before the parking garage and entrance, some people will come to you to offer a ride with Jeep. I strongly advice you to not take any offering from people who offer you a rent to Jeep ride if you want to save money. It costs 200k. But if your car doesn't have enough cc (1250 cc minimum i guess), it's OK to take Jeep ride (due to bad condition of the road).

Love the place though the area is not big and it is far from anywhere. It is actually a lookout with a view to Waduk Sermo and its surrounding. The scenery is a good and the air is fresh. There are three 'main' photo spots, you need to pay for each spot or have a 'package' for all three spots - the photo spot fee is per person. The photographer can help to take photos by using their DSLR with price per picture that you want (e.g. can take 10 photos but only take 2-3 photos). You pay only the photos that you want and the pictures will be copied to your handphone by cable data. The photo spot and the DSLR's photo fee are 'cheap' for a tourist area.

it is nice place to be here. the road is challanging and your body must be in good condition. it is so cheap but for taking pictures in places for photo are expensive. here also you can get outbond for children. if you come here with your children, it will be nice and enjoyble

We went during the monsoon season in December and are the only ones there. Entrance Fee of 50k Rp for Foreigners Likely used to supplement the villagers for intrusion of their farms. Serene walk to the temple and admire the terrace Padi fields. A nice coffee place near the top and certainly recommended for a short break and to enjoy the peacefulness of the area. Temple is recently re-built and somehow characteristic of the temples in Yogya. The road to the ticketing point is only a one way lane and upslope which can be very dangerous during peak season. The village might want to consider improving this as they are collecting a large amount of entrance fee.

The main reason why people go to Selogriyo temple is for the picturesque views of the rice terraces on the way. There is an easy cemented path from the parking area to the temple itself. I would not recommend descending down to the terraces itself unless you are of moderate fitness, and especially not during the rainy season. We did; and the terrain was extremely steep, slippery and challenging. Walking along the narrow steppes can be dangerous and we did slip and fall into the rice paddies a few times (fortunately, we did not fall into the rocky stream as that could be catastrophic). Our guide did get lost on the way (we do not fault him, as the terraces are large and can be confusing). Not too sure if the well-trodden path we were supposed to walk along would be better. Nonetheless, the walk along the cemented trail was easy and beautiful. Docking 1 star because of how far the temple is from Yogyakarta city.

This was a nice quiet walk through terraced fields towards a secluded temple in the hills. Worth the drive here and highly recommended!

Surely worth a visit to another Buddhist temple. This one stands al alone on a beautiful spot and the walk through the rice fields is marvelling. This is not a very touristy spot, surely not in November. But a precious chance to spot daily life and work on the rice fields. Highly recommend!

The road to up is winding and narrow and you have to continue walking from the end road up about 1.5 km. The view however is breathtaking. The temple itself was being reconstructed. Even than the view for me is far more important to see, not to mention friendly natives I met along the walk. I was struggling for the bathroom and one neighbor let me in just like that. Parking is very limited, if possible go with a local driver so you don’t have to worry about parking.

I was amazed by the stunning sceneries along the way to this temple. So green and yet so tranquil. The road for motorbike and pedestrians are well made and maintained. I could not describe more how beautiful this area. And this tiny temple is worth it . On top of the hill ,just if we are lucky enough to enjoy when the sky is clear. Mount Sumbing is the view that we can not miss at all. Parking lot for motorbike is upstair just near to the stairs to the temple but for the car you need to park a little bit far and then you can either walk or take rental bike that costs 25.000 IDR for one way or 40.000 for returns. Toilet is available near by the second gate just before the temple. And it is clean enough. Perfect timing to visit is during dry season ( April to October) or morning when it is not cloudy. I am sure I will be back here to take more pictures.

I went in May 2025.. the night before was raining… I was blessed with good sunrise and misty with sea of clouds.. the view was so beautiful ..we have been walking up to Setumbu hill from car park to the top about 15mins. There is stone staircases and lights along the way we trekked..

We never get to see the sea of clouds when we went here but still grateful for a nice weather and sunset. Climbing the stairs uptop is not so fun.

A beautiful place to watch the sunrise from the top of Borobudur Temple. The best time to visit is around 4:30 AM. Make sure you're physically fit, as you'll need to walk. The entrance fee is affordable.

Located just 30 minutes from Yogyakarta, Punthuk Setumbu offers a stunning sunrise view in the morning. The path to the top is elderly-friendly and very safe—I went when it was slightly raining, and it was still manageable. However, you’ll need to plan ahead and check the weather forecast, as some days can be too cloudy for a clear sunrise. Overall, it’s a beautiful experience and definitely worth the wait!

It is about a 10 minute hike on paved path + stairs to the top. Parking is 10k, entrance is 20k for locals and 50k for foreigners. A lot of people up here so forget about serene experience on a weekend. There’s a cafe at the top that serve coffee and tea. There are several benches, chairs, and raised garden bed edges that you can sit on. Since the sun rises from behind the mountains, it will be visible about 15 minutes later than usual. The old walking path that leads straight to gereja ayam has been overgrown, but there is a local bike path that you can use if you want to walk there. 29/06/25

Borobudur Temple is absolutely breathtaking — truly one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve visited in Indonesia. The scale, detail, and history behind this temple are just incredible. Walking up through the different terraces as the sun rises, surrounded by mist and the sound of birds, is something that feels almost spiritual. Every level reveals new carvings and stories, and the view from the top is unforgettable. That said, the guided tour could have been better. Our guide was kind and enthusiastic, but unfortunately very difficult to follow — his explanations were rushed and not very clear, so most of the group ended up wandering off and exploring on our own. It’s a shame, because with a bit more structure and clear storytelling, the tour could have really brought the temple’s history to life. Even so, Borobudur is a must-visit. Whether or not you get a great guide, the atmosphere and beauty of the site more than make up for it. If you visit, I’d recommend either reading a bit about the temple’s background beforehand or using an audio guide, so you can better appreciate what you’re seeing. A truly remarkable place — just wish the guided experience matched the magic of the monument itself. 🌅

This is a must see. Purchase your tickets online closing the convenient time.slot as well as the option of going to the top. You will be assigned for a tour guide inside the temple and he will explain all the story about it giving as well some details from what u see. It is really worth visiting knowing All the history and to see all nice views and also for nice photos. Electric cars are punctual and on on time to get you from entrance to the temple entrance. There is as well a big souvenirs shops market at that area. Highly recommended but during the day it can be very hot and sunny so bring an umbrella and/or hat and sunscreen. And prepare yourself to be given a slipper and put your shoes in a bag (they take care of everything at entrance and it is included in the climbing ticket).

Good to be back to history — such an iconic place that always feels timeless. The area is well-organized and clean. To reach the temple, you can choose between taking a paid buggy ride or the free electric shuttle — both eco-friendly options, which is great. The only downside is the way out — it feels a bit like a maze since you have to walk through a long souvenir market before exiting. Still, it’s worth the visit for the beauty and serenity of Borobudur itself. ✨

Highly recommend to visit here. Everything is included with 455k entrance fee. Water, slippers to Protect the temple and a guide is included. They schedule by group per hour. Organized and helpful guides. You can also asked the guards for pictures they know how to take it.

Borobudur Temple is truly an amazing destination. I really enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere and the beautiful scenery here. The facilities are also very modern and well-managed. However, I found a navigation issue. The area is so vast that we had a hard time finding our way, and the signposts from the parking lot were not very clear. My suggestion is that it would be very helpful if the management could provide map brochures in the parking area or at the ticket counter. That way, visitors can explore more easily without getting lost. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience!

Borobudur Temple was on my bucket list. And I made to visit it. Some pros: - absolutely amazing art and experience (of course not comparable to Angkor Wat- lets say nothing can beat AW) - tickets for 15:30 actually are for sunset, and this is best time to enjoy the sun extracting colors from the temple. - we bought tickets for Temple Structure, which allows to climb to the top, and include buggy ride. Are 40k IDR more expensive - ticket includes shoes (kind of bamboo flip flops), and bottle of water CONS: - overpriced! 455k IDR (25$) because you’re foreigner (75k IDR for local) - a lot of hustle and bustle around for taxi, souvenirs etc - guide was enough - EXIT is a NIGHTMARE, as you need to get thorough maze of really pushy sellers, which makes me panic to get out of there! Outside- another group pushing for taxi, some souvenirs. Please respect our „NO thank you” boundaries, as we- foreigners- are respecting your prices, places and culture. Whatever good impressions I had, they got lost with going through exit. TIPS: 1. Only Structure Tickets, buy online in advance 2. Preferably entrance at 15:30 3. Take extra water with you 4. Keep calm and move on through maze of shops to get to the desired exit.

Very tiny temple as you can see almost everything from the outside n it's one of the the three temples in Borobudur proximity. You are recommended to skip this one, by focusing more on the largest peer, Borobudur n another nearby Mendut temple. Not quite worth the entrance fee for foreigners.

We visited this small temple near Borobudur. There is a single building which can be viewed from outside without a ticket. There were some persistent street vendors here which was rather unpleasant. Otherwise, the luwak coffee place across the road is worth a visit.

A small Buddhist temple with a low fence surrounded by a small road (entry ticket: IDR 10,500.-) not so far from the world-famous Borobudur temple. Actually it's free as long as you don't enter the fence. I wanted to pay the entry ticket, but the ticket box was vacant (the ticket guy came up from somewhere after someone called him). Not much to see (unless you're an expert). There was even nothing in the chamber inside the temple (no lingga+yoni or statue). Local shops around the temple offer gifts and souvenirs. A very small parking shelter for one or two motorbikes. No parking lot for cars and restroom of its own, and a local resident's house offers paid parking and restroom. No musholla, but 90 m away is a clean two-floor mosque (Al-Mujahidin).

Unfortunately the temple was under restoration so had scaffolding around it. I certainly don't think they should charge the 30,500 to get in. If you just want a photo then you can take it from outside. I though this was like a lot of temples were there are several in the complex but it is just the one.

Nice restored little temple. Will run you about a dollar to get in. Will take about 10 minutes to take in every little detail including the rare corbelled dome of the interior. The vendors outside though can get a little pushy

We visited this Buddhist monastery which is located next to Mendut Temple. There is a mix of Buddhist architectural style here including from Thailand. The main shrine has a peaceful reclining Buddha and it was good to pray here. The grounds have several interesting structures and entrance is free of charge.

It's calm and peaceful, but there's not much to see. Sure, there are statues and a few buildings that look old but none are more than 100 years old. Cool to visit if you're in the neighborhood though. Not very crowded and free to enter. One caveat is that I did not see one monk in this monastery... Weird.

It's a private Buddhist Monastery but open for public. The monastery is very serene and spiritual. When visit we should respect their rules and support their sustainability.

The Mendut monastery and temple are a hidden gem, and definitely underrated. With free entry, the site features several buildings dedicated to prayer and others for meditation. Active monks still live here, giving the place an authentic and peaceful atmosphere. What makes it truly unique is the collection of statues, all donated by different Buddhist countries across Asia. As you walk through, you encounter a fascinating mix of artistic styles—Cambodian, Thai, Japanese, and more. Beautiful, serene, and absolutely worth a visit.

I came here on weekday around 10a.m. and the wind was strong. The atmosphere was a bit quiet and the sand was quiet clean, also there wasn't many spots to take photos.

Maybe this place is famous for their seafood or fish market, but besides all of that, i think this place is need better management. The place is dirty, the parking space is very unorganized and access to the beach is not good. Trash can be seen everywhere, even on the beach side. It's sad that even that a touristy beach can be so unorganized. Besides all of that, you can find many local seafood snack on this beach. And you can buy fresh fish on the fish market.

The beach is famous for it seafood culinary, cheap price with hundreds of places to choice. You can even do your own fish shopping you can take away or cooked by stalls at the beach. Suite for family vacation

Been here several time. Local people spend their time in this place in the morning. But, this place is also fine to be visited at afternoon. You can buy fresh fishes and cook them at the restaurants here. You can eat sea foods here with your family and friends, while enjoying the view (beach). Be careful of the wave, because the wave are very big and dangerous. Oh, and of course, sometimes the owner of the restaurants will give you higher charges (bill) for the service. I don't know why. But, I think it is a little bit annoying. In my experience, they double the price. In addition, the restaurant is not luxury at tall.

Enjoy the beach and eat delicious seafood. Raw fishes and other sea creatures are sold in depok fish market, just buy raw fish and choose the restaurant by yourself. The cost of cooking in the restaurant is calculated from the weight of raw fishes we brought. Unfortunately the beach quite dirty, especially after big tides come.

Not as beautiful as I saw in pictures, but it worth the cheap entrance fee. The place is so hot, make sure you wear suitable clothes. There are some spots where you can take pictures here like swings, pine tress, and some small windmill. Besides, you can also take pictures with various types of flowers, including sunflowers.

Awesome place for pictures. For someone like me who has never been to an actual desert. This place is the closest thing to one. Let me warn you though its super duper extremely hot here. No joke. Dont forget to wear sunscreen, bring a hat, bring umbrella, and even wear long sleeves if you dont want to get tanned.

Unique desert view, smooth brown sand, and beautiful scenery. Be careful when coming in afternoon, the sand can get quite hot. Not to crowded during the ppkm. I suggest to come at 4-5pm or 6-7 am so you can enjoy it even more and avoid the hot weather.

Outstanding place to chill and hangout. The scenery is huge, full of dessert like what we see in the movie or perhaps you can say a fairytale. However you have to go early because the place is quite remote. At the end you can see the sun sets on the west.

I don't know what's special about this place. Only broad sand dunes with swings, cactus plants and some withered sunflower trees While visiting this sand dune, you can visit the other beaches around it. What is not less beautiful, especially when sunset come. If you want to come, I recommend you to come late afternoon around 3pm or above. In the afternoon is too hot, it's because there's no shelter.

Honestly, it's just a sand dune haha. They just added some elements to the photo. That time, i and my friends came around 10 am. Unfortunately we couldn't try the skateboard rides in the sand because the sand was solid after it rained. If you come here don't forget to wear sunglasses and a hat because it's quite hot. For just a photo, this is interesting! There are also public toilets, ample parking, you can try an ATV motorbike as one of the other rides. I like it!

Excellent sand dune surfing experience. Unlimited attempts. Come in the evening when it is less hot otherwise the sand will burn your feet off. It is fun once you get the hang of it and definitely a must try!

I visited Taman Sari Tourist Village and found it really interesting to walk around. The old bathing pools and underground passages give you a glimpse of the history and culture of Yogyakarta. The surrounding village is also fun to explore with small shops and local people selling crafts. It is not a huge site but it is unique and worth a visit if you are already near the palace.

We visited Taman Sari Royal Garden because we were looking for a place that was open that day — it was my second to the last day in Yogyakarta, and unfortunately, the palace itself was closed. I’m glad we ended up here though, because it turned out to be a really unique and memorable experience. It wasn’t too crowded when we went — there were a mix of locals and foreigners, and the atmosphere felt calm and pleasant. The sun was very hot outside, but once you go inside the chambers and passageways of the garden, it becomes surprisingly cool. Each section feels like a hidden corner full of history and charm. What stood out to me most were the many small pathways and exits all around the garden. There seems to be only one main entrance, but several exits lead into nearby residential areas or small alleys that connect to local streets. It really gives you a sense of how this place once functioned as a living, breathing royal space — private, mysterious, and full of life. Even though the structures are old, you can still imagine how stunning it must have been at its peak — with the pools, gardens, and chambers in their full glory. It’s one of those places that lets you step back in time and feel part of Yogyakarta’s royal history. A truly cool and fascinating place to explore — peaceful, historical, and worth the visit.

I have no regrets about visiting this historical site, even with the crazy heat in Jogja that day. It definitely still needs ongoing maintenance and preservation. Taman Sari was the Sultan's / King’s former water castle/bathhouse, I can only imagine how grand and cool this place was back then. Entrance is 25K.

Combine with the Kraton:Taman Sari makes a perfect half-day excursion when combined with a visit to the nearby Kraton (Sultan's Palace).

Historical place where it was bath place for kings back in the time. It wows you with the architecture and the beauty of the place. It is quite a big complex where you will walk a lot and tons of place to take beautiful pictures. There will be guides once you enter who will offer their service, totally up to you to take it. Some alleys are in the neighbourhood area which means you will walk around people’s house.

Taman Sari has an interesting old royal structure and some really nice photo spots, but it’s definitely overhyped and heavily crowded. Good for a quick look, not ideal if you want a calm historical experience.

This "Water Castle" complex, though undeniably small-scale and showing minimal recent maintenance, possesses a unique appeal. The entrance fee is low, making it an accessible historical site. A delightful aspect is the freedom to climb atop some of the remaining gate structures, providing interesting views. Guides are present, but be prepared: ours, while informative and willing to take photos, was quite insistent on leading us to his shop afterward. We ultimately "escaped" through the gates, which made for a memorable, if slightly comical, end to our visit! Despite its modest size and condition, Taman Sari's unique charm and the freedom to explore make it a worthwhile stop for those seeking a less polished, more adventurous historical experience.

We couldn't quite see the peaks of Merapi or Merbabu because of cloud, but still enjoyed some great views. The land use on the slopes is really interesting - of course farming due to fertile soils, but I was surprised by how many settlements there are and how high up they are. The restaurant served basic but nice food. The volcano movie is really old and needs a refresh.

If you happen to have half a day free in Yogya, take a car to drive around Merapi to enjoy landscape, villages and busy farmers providing fruit and food for the metropolis. Ketep Pass is a marvellous viewpoint on the volcanos and the terrasses. And if Merapi hides in the clouds, there is still a volcano museum about volcanism in Indonesia and Merapi itself. It deserves to be updated, as the 2010 eruption is not covered anymore and only few objects have an English explanation. But it is still worth visiting; there are hardly any foreigners and the cinema will be opened for you only. The film has English subtitles and is worth watching. Enjoy!

So crowded when we came at saturday, tough to find the parking area. But not so many attraction in this place, just a cool view the 2 fabolous mountain Merapi and Merbabu. 12,5 K IDR per person and pay more 9K IDR the get the 2nd level of the place to get higher view to the see the surrounding.

I was told the ticket is 50k which includes everything when there are other options they dont allow me to purchase. What a scam

Our trip here was super impromptu but that's alright. They have a lot of posters and displays related to Mount Merapi but to be honest, they feel a bit outdated. They have a café corner that only sells cup noodles and some packaged drinks. And then on top there's also a restaurant with plenty of seats but when we got there at about 9 or 10 AM, not many menus were ready. Not many things to do to be honest but the view is great! You can eat at a Warmindo on the parking lot instead 😅

First time visiting and first impression was so so only. They charge foreigners Rp50k per person and you get one free soft drink. There is a volcano museum but looks pretty run down. Was told can view volcano documentary in the in-house theatre bit it was closed when I visited. What a let down. So the only saving grace was the observation platform at the hill top overlooking the villages. Too bad it was cloudy and misty so did not get to see much of the mountain view.

Just because i look like an Indonesian, does not mean I am one, and it does not mean I understand the Indonesian language. Please treat your visitors better. Overall this place could be better, there wasn't much guidance and descriptions. I guess if you want to fully understand the whole history and concept, you should hire a tour guide.

This palace is undeniably a must‑see for anyone curious about Yogyakarta’s cultural roots. From a visual standpoint, it’s beautifully preserved—reflecting the grandeur and spiritual atmosphere of the royal court. But for those seeking immersive or interactive experiences, it may feel static and purely observational. The visit was more about appreciating the architecture and ambiance rather than engaging with the living culture that once pulsated within these walls. In summary, the Kraton is a significant cultural and historical landmark—clean, well‑maintained, and visually striking—but somewhat lacking in stimulation or spectacle. I would recommend it as a necessary stop for cultural context and photography, but don’t go expecting performances or dynamic exhibits unless you verify beforehand. It’s a quiet, reflective experience—not a theatrical one.

As some others have said, it's a lackluster experience where you just wander around the courtyards, observing the architecture from afar and seeing some random objects scattered about. No performances or exhibits while I was there, nor were any advertised even if they did have them hidden somewhere. Many schools come here on educational trips, and they clearly take staff priority over tourists. Also, if you use Google Maps and you are coming from the water palace of the southern area, it will likely try to send you walking in from the back exit. Be prepared to get told off by staff, saying you need to "go around" to the entrance while being oblivious of any wrongdoing.

I will say “this is the only active palace in Indonesia which still upholds their true culture and identity”. Ticket price is decent, well managed and maintained, high standard without losing its uniqueness. The guards are amazing, they really doing their job while adjusting to tourist activity (not the other way around）, this is rare in this era.

Must visit - we loved the palace grounds. There are a number of small exhibitions on different topics which we liked. There was a wayang kulit performance happening along with the gamelan orchestra and it was amazing.

Beautiful heritage building, very well manage and clean. All the people are polite. Great place to find out some of the history of Yogyakarta.

Not too bad, but there’s a lot of fraudster here, but seller here is also friendly, but not all of them LOL. Overall this place is so good, and the view is so… beautiful!

We visited this bustling street in the evening and it was pretty crowded. There are many shops selling batik, apparel, food and souvenirs. There were many horse carriages for rent as well as trishaws. We found that there were more food options at the mall. The road is closed to motorised vehicles in the evening and open to pedestrians only. A must visit place in Yogyakarta especially in the evening.

Beautiful street with a lot of local tourists. Good for shopping! But PLEASE BE AWARE OF SCAMMERS if you’re a foreigner. Some guys from the streets telling you it’s your lucky day because TODAY IS THE LAST DAY of the exhibition. It was all tourists inside! They had a piece of canvas with some old-looking art and kept explaining ‘how it’s done.’ Then they offered free coffee and tea, repeating ‘hospitality, hospitality!’ We left straight away, don’t want to know what happens next. Biggest scammers ever.

The traditional market in the center of Yogya city, seems to be the oldest market in Yogya. Many stalls are neatly lined up and the traders are friendly. Sells various types of clothing and batik cloth with various motifs. The clothes sold are mostly women's clothes. Prices are also not too high and can be negotiated. If you want there is a lot of culinary delights, some have to queue. Many women sell satay and many also buy it. Maintenance and cleanliness are moderate. Enjoy the photos.

Located in the heart of Malioboro street, this market is mostly dominated by batik shops. You can find a wide array of batik outfits, including dresses, pajamas, shorts, blazers, and skirts, with various prices. Some items can be bargained, and some have a fixed price. Most of the prices are reasonable. The building itself is well-maintained, and the entrance is really captivating with its old-style colonial architecture.

I was just here to wander around and try the snacks. I bought sate kere with konyor and chicken. The chicken didn't taste fresh, it was sour. The pecel was delicious, the chili sauce was a bit runny but the vegetables were fresh. The price affordable

It's one of the most biggest Traditional Market in Yogyakarta.. You can find it almost at the end of the Malioboro Street.. In here you'll find a lot of batik/ daster/ pijamas/ shirt/ curtains/ whatever traditional outfit, you'll find it in here.. Keywords you can look for in google or pinterest : Kebaya, Jarik/ skirt traditional, Daster/ pijama but in dress very very comfy you should try atleast once in your lifetime, Sandal Selop/ sandals for grooms, Keris / traditional weapon javanese for grooms outfit, Obi/ belt with batik motif, Kebaya Kutu Baru with so many texture Beludru means Velvet, brokat, etc.. A good place to take our kids to learn something by seeing and doing. Taman Pintar has a very fascinating display of different topics on science, electricity, biology, Civic, natural phenomenon, and many more. This place has a food court that caters the needs of the visitors to have a decent meal ranging from rice to burgers. It is advisable that you start the visit in the early hours of the day so that you can cover all the display rooms without rush.

Nice place to visit with kids during the holiday. Not just fun but also educational. Children can explore science, technology, and culture in an interactive way that keeps them curious. There are plenty of zones and activities, like science experiments and creative play, so they can learn while having a good time. The entrance ticket is very affordable, and the variety of exhibits makes it worth much more than the price. It’s also located in the city center, so it’s easy to reach and combine with other family activities in Jogja. Perfect for kids, but honestly enjoyable for adults too. We came on a weekday, so it wasn’t too crowded. Weekends are usually busier, especially with study tours.

Its old and some location are empty or during maintenance. But IMHO, still one of the best 15k you can spend in the middle of Yogyakarta with kids. Some of the outside facilities are free if you dont want to pay any.

Super good value for money! Yes, they need to fix and maintain some things. But overall still much to see and enjoy for a very low entry price. We visited as tourists and our kids really enjoyed this place, also as a different kind of activity after all the temples and nature. Nice outside area as well, just give it a try and you will love it! :)

PLEASE UPGRADE AND REPAIR ALL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT WITH LATEST TECHNOLOGY TO PROVIDE BETTER EXPERIENCE FOR KIDS The idea is combine recreational for kids and learning by example actually loved it so much about it Its cheap and attractive also has good service support but i think needs to upgrade the mock up learning tools and equipment, appereance is look old, some tools broken and shows that not well maintain .

We were guided through the museum by Mba Amber. She was humorous and very knowledgeable about the museum's contents. Her explanations were easy to understand. The place is spacious, has a large collection, cool temperature, but a bit spooky (for me) 😁🙏🏻

It's so fun visiting this museum. There are 3 options if you want to visit and enter the museum. Each option gives you a different historical explanation and also a different admission ticket starting 50k-100k/person. NB: the guide will explain the history and no taking photos inside allowed. You can take photos once you finish the tour.

It was such an amazing experience! Ullen Sentalu is a 1.2ha private museum in the north part of Jogja. They divide the museum into 3 parts based on the tour theme (details of each theme can be seen on their website). I tried 2 out of 3 tours and they were all amazing. The guides were very informative and funny, and the collections were nicely handled and curated. If you have plenty of time, you should try all the tours, but if you do not, I recommend you try the Vorstenlanden tour. This tour has the biggest area, is more focused on keraton history, and you can get tea and cookies at the end of the tour to feel an Indische vibe. The museum itself was magical; I liked the garden so much. Unfortunately, documentation inside the tour area is prohibited due to copyright. They have a restaurant and a gallery in the exit area if you are hungry after the tour or want to buy some batik or accessories.

Very fulfilling visit guided by mbak Tina 🫶 we arrived at about 14.45 and was immediately escorted to start the tour. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Strictly no photos, videos or voice recording allowed, only in designated spots for pictures. Took the Vorstenlanden tour, 1 hour, ended with a cute little tea time, highly recommended. English guided tour available.

We did about one hour drive from the city to reach this place, which is located at the foot of Mount Merapi. The museum has 3 zones of tour to choose and I chose the Adiluhung Mataram Tour, which explains about the history of Javanese royalties. But the #1 rule of the museum is: you cannot take photos or videos along the tour. So we just took them outside. With all the greeneries around, you can still take beautiful pictures :)

I had a great time at the museum, especially during the Vorstenlanden Tour. However, I do have one complaint: a group of more than 12 people who were not part of our tour suddenly joined in, and the guide didn’t say anything about it. This made us uncomfortable, as these individuals didn’t pay the IDR 100,000 fee like we did. The tour and the museum itself were excellent, but allowing people to join without any control or restriction feels unfair to those who actually paid.

great information, not great upkeep (hard when the entrance free is only 5k). worth a stop if in the area. solid displays/exhibits about volcanic/geological fundamentals, detailed history of Merapi and Indonesian volcanoes in general. whole thing takes about 20 minutes. plenty of parking and good quality roads to get there. bathrooms have no toilet paper.

Back in 2012, I often visited this place with my friend. At that time, it was always empty of visitors. I could take pictures freely without any disturbances. The only problem I encountered back then was that the roof leaked when it rained, but it seems to have been fixed now. A few days ago, I visited this place again, unfortunately, it's now crowded with visitors. Hopefully, those who visit the museum are mindful of cleanliness, avoid littering, and do not damage the exhibits.

High recommended for museum tour. All about of Geology and Volcano education. The Merapi cinema was amazing, creative, great and cool... Recommended for kids, stundents, parents etc. The price is very cheap, only 5000 rupiah but worth it!

This is educative for children's. I like it very much. This impressive museum is located in a striking angular structure that resembles a volcano. Exhibits dedicated to Merapi include a scale model, which demonstrates eruptions from the 18th century until today and how they altered the mountain's shape. There are vintage seismometers on display, along with a motorbike excavated from molten ash. There's an earthquake simulator, a cinema screening the story of the 2010 eruption (10,000Rp) and profiles covering volcanoes of Indonesia and the world.

The shape of the building is iconic. The museum is very educative. I spent more than an hour here just to explore the museum and read every caption. The installations are very interesting and some of them are interactive. They have some relicts from 2010's eruption of Mt. Merapi. This place is very recommended to you who visit Jogja, especially for students.

Entrance fee is 10,000rp for foreigners. Not a expensive museum and quite interesting but it’s really a shame that it’s not well maintained. On the ground floor some panel with lights are not working anymore. On the second floor you can see that there are a lot of leaking in the rooftop and humidity already started damaging the walls.

Merapi Volcano Museum is a great exposition of the importance and the impact of Mt. Merapi to Yogyakarta! It has all the interactive modules and rooms that will provide you the right and essential information to understand how Yogyakarta, and Indonesia, responds and treats disasters. From videos, to sculptures, and eveb mythologies, the museum offers it all. Perhaps my most favorite part is the central model in the lobby of the mountain itself. The rock samples were also fascinating. To make the experience more impactful, get a tour guide and if you are lucky, get a geologist friend who speaks the language. Unfortunately, parts of the museum show disrepair. Mold has creeped into the fiberboard ceiling and some part have decated already. They also need to update their toilets. Although they have a souvenir shop, it is better if it can have its own store so it is more noticeable. I really hope they have future plans to renovate and modernise the facility! We don't want another eruption for them to revive their drive for risk education and communication!
