Bodega MEVI

Mentioned on

Winery
Food & Drink
Bodega MEVI is a charming winery located in Mendoza, offering a delightful start to a wine bike tour. The vineyard boasts a beautiful seating area with stunning views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains. Visitors can enjoy tastings of their exquisite wines, including the notable Torrontes white wine and the impressive Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. With around 10 wines to choose from, guests can indulge in reasonably priced tastings, ranging from young wines to reserves.
MEVI has created an exquisite environment to relax and appreciate their wines. Even if you didn't taste a drop, it would be worth visiting for the spectacular view of the mountains in the distance! They offer three sampling menus at different prices: a varietal, reserve and premium line. I opted to try their reserve line, which included a Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and (from the premium line) a blended Malbec-Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon. Each was delicious and I suspect worth the small additional cost over the varietal line. It is a fantastic place to pause your trip through the region's vineyards and enjoy the view together with a well-earned lunch!
Jeff C — Google review
Beautiful spot nestled amongst the vineyards. We did the basic varietal tasting (6,800 peso each) and shared the cheese and meat board (29,500 pesos). All delicious. Our server Leandŕo was lovely. There was a very basic explanation on the wines, which suited us just fine. I'm sure he would have gone into further detail if we asked. He spoke great English and was polite and professional. It is a terrific place to take your time and soak in the ambience. We will be back.
Natarsha B — Google review
The view from their patio is very nice. We tried the varietal line and the premium line. Their wines are good. Our favorites were the Torrontés and the Cabernet Sauvignon Rose. We bought a bottle of the Torrontés because it was a nice white amidst all of the reds in the region.
Rachel G — Google review
We had a nice time tasting wines at MEVI. The paper mat with the wines and high level descriptions/explanations of the tasting notes were helpful. Service was warm but brief. We were the only guests there at the time (around 11:30 on a weekday morning in winter). Overall a pleasant experience. Shame it was cloudy as we understand the views are lovely!
Laura B — Google review
One of the best stops on our tour. Beautiful balcony overlooking the vineyard. Nice cheese board. Tasty wines. Lucas was a great help with his experience and very welcoming.
Luke W — Google review
Excellent vineyard - the seating area is one floor above ground level so you get a great view of the surrounding fields and the distant Andes mountains. There are 10 wines to pick from, the cheapest ones cost about 5 USD to taste 3 glasses in total, but you can pick more premium ones for more money. Only shame was no food on offer but the views more than compensated.
Rishi B — Google review
Beautiful winery with vineyards to the front and back of the building. The place is impeccably clean and I found the staff to be friendly and professional. The wine was also very delicious. Highly recommend when touring the wineries in the area.
Kara H — Google review
This place is beautiful. Gorgeous seating area overlooking the vineyards and mountains. The wine was not the best of the vineyards we went to but was very good. I really enjoyed the Torrontes white wine. The Malbec was good as well but not a standout. The price for a tasting was extremely reasonable as well - around 90 pesos for the tasting of the reserves and 70 pesos for the tasting of the young wines.

Casa Vigil (El Enemigo)

$$$$expensive
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Casa Vigil, also known as El Enemigo, is a renowned winery in Mendoza owned by Catena and winemaker Alejandro Vigil. The establishment offers an exceptional experience with detailed property tours and exquisite 7-course wine-paired tasting dinners. Visitors praise the impeccable service provided by knowledgeable staff members such as Alexandra, Sol & Ana. The menu includes options for both meat-eaters and vegans, all of which are described as outstanding.
We did a tour of El Enemigo on April 16/25. What a beautiful place to visit! This winery is a testament to the hard work of Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena. The grounds are beyond beautiful... I kept thinking they should host weddings there... but that would take away from the serenity of the place. So much to see, including heaven and hell. And the wine! We really enjoyed our tastings. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and gracefully answered our many questions. We ended up purchasing several bottles..or cases (?) to bring back to Canada. We really enjoyed our experience there.
Lynn S — Google review
We visited this winery for lunch and wine tasting in March 2025 from the UK. The service, food and wine were all exemplary. They went completely out of their way to support me when I lost my passport, and even contacted the tourist police and liaised with them on my behalf. I cannot thank them enough and am incredibly grateful for their kindness and understanding. I can't wait to return in the future, and only wish I lived nearer! Highly recommend
Minali G — Google review
Visiting Casa Vigil was an amazing experience. The place is beautiful, the food is delicious (and not too expensive for what it is) and the service is exceptional. Gian, Bruno, and the new sommelier (whose name I can't remember right now, sorry!) were super kind, knowledgeable, and just great to hang out with. To anyone visiting Mendoza and looking to drink some wine and have a good time, this is the place.
Tanezuki S — Google review
Outside: -5/10 Inside the restaurant: 15/10 Outside review: We arrived at 11:20am for our 11:30am reservation. We were told to take a seat outside and wine would be served to us while we waited…sounds lovely. However 30 minutes later, no wine, no tour, no communication. 45 minutes later…still nothing. 1 hour later we hunted down the hostess to tell her we had a 3:30pm reservation 45 minutes away and we were now concerned we would be late for it as we didn’t want to rush a Michelin star lunch. She said she would tell the restaurant of our timing needs and sat us at the restaurant with no tour. We still don’t know what happened and why we waited for an hour in the cold… Inside (restaurant) review: Literally the opposite of outside. WOW WOW WOW. The food!! The service!!! Leo is the king. His hospitality is genuinely unmatched. He went above and beyond so many times. I unfortunately missed the Som’s name but he might be my favorite som I’ve encountered in life so far- so knowledgeable, so approachable, soooo good at describing wines visually and verbally. And his energy is muy muy tranquilo in the best way. I’m not a big flesh person in general but the rib was EXQUISITE. Leo also brought us a little side of the pasta which was delectable as well. And the deserts were the icing on the proverbial cake. 10/10 for food, 20/10 for service. One more note against the host — she said she would let the restaurant know we were on a tight timeline (that she made tight, not us 🙄) and she didn’t. We let Leo know and he moved heaven and earth to get us our desserts and check in time to not be too late, but I *know* he would have timed us perfectly if she told him like she said she would. She did him and us a disservice. Also, nothing was ever said about the missed tour or the hour-long wait to be seated, but holy smokes did the restaurant work to turn our experience around. They deserve all of the stars. Now if only they could train the staff outside to be at their level… TLDR: We were there 3.5 hours and they had to RUSH our dessert because the hostess didn’t do her job. For an expensive meal (that was *incredible*), it’s rather inexcusable. I will update this review if they reach out in any way.
Dana B — Google review
Casa Vigil Mendoza felt more like a brand showroom since nothing is actually produced on-site. The visit was poorly organized and the tour was over in a flash. We tasted three wines and were given just two crackers with their olive oil. For 100 USD per person, it did not feel worth it, especially considering I visited other wineries in the area for half the price and enjoyed a much deeper, more engaging experience. Perhaps having lunch there during the tour, even at double the price, would have been a better choice.
Lucas C — Google review
One question: how does this place have a Michelin star??? Absolutely horrendous service and management. It’s a total tourist trap that’s not up to Michelin standards. I never leave reviews but this experience has compelled me to write this. Food wasn’t bad at all but it was way overpriced. We got our wine “pairings” an hour before each course came out. Is it normal to wait an hour between courses? Other tables took precedence over us, water refills were few and far between. The manager didn’t seem to care about making it right, only offered us to come back and try again. It’s one thing to suck but is another thing to suck and not attempt to make it right. Finally, we spoke to someone who was willing to take some accountability and apologize which was much appreciated. My wife and I will never recommend this place to anyone and specifically tell people to avoid it. We should have got a sandwich and bottle of wine from a kiosko instead.
William S — Google review
One of my best dining experiences while in Mendoza. Service is impeccable. Food presentation is outstanding.
LF L — Google review
We had a 3 course tasting with the 3 enemigos wine pairing for $130 each. The appetiser and main were amazing. The dessert was meh at best. I had the carpaccio and rib eye then the cheesecake. There is a sommelier on site to assist with your pairing or questions 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

(Translated by Google) Very good place to go with your family or friends and explore the Salinas that today the Dos Anchors company operates. Very nice tour to take by car and enjoy with the family a different place, it would seem like you were on another planet. Nature expresses itself and the Salinas are huge, very nice, a little smaller than those in the north but very pleasant, a nice excursion to go out. Highly recommended to do it during the day and take advantage of the sunset in the salt flat. Be careful where you walk because sometimes there are big cracks. It is advisable to go on Sunday when there is little truck work activity in the area. No entrance is needed and on Twitter you enter with your car directly. (Translated by Google) I loved the place; it has a lot of history. Located in the province of San Luis, from Route 7, heading toward Mendoza, turn south and there are about 5 km of paved road. There's a small tourist information office and a well-maintained parking lot. From there, you walk 100 meters to access the salt hills, incredible. It's a barren landscape, not a single weed grows, but it's impressive. From this place, salt is supplied to all of Argentina. They let you climb and walk around the salt hills. Just another part of our great country. It's a beautiful experience, I highly recommend it.

(Translated by Google) We visited it with my family, good service at reception, we only did the short self-guided trails (of which there are two), very well marked and easy to navigate. Both the cafeteria and the bathrooms in that part were not open, which complicated their use since they were only available at the entrance to the park, which is 6km from the parking lot. It is a beautiful place and we wanted to take the guided tour to the traces of the past but there was a lot of wind and the guide told us that perhaps small children would not have a good time, so we took his advice. And that speaks well of them that they charge to make that journey.

(Translated by Google) The apartment is very nice, comfortable, it just doesn't have a microwave. The pool was too deep, I couldn't go in with my son and the one that was for children was empty and dirty. The breakfast was quite weak, a thermos with milk and another with coffee and three tea bags. To accompany some biscuits and some portions of sponge cake. No jam, butter, dulce de leche, much less fruit salad and/or orange juice. The last night before we left it was very windy, it seemed like a storm was coming in the pm, so much so that it tore the tarp off the roof where the car was left, luckily no stones fell.

There is also a place to sit down and eat typical and varied meals. There are stalls selling crafts and other products. You have easy access places or you can take a walk of approximately 30 minutes until you reach different points with natural pools with ice-cold water hahaha but it is impossible not to get in and experience something new. I fell in love with the place. Museo Rocsen

Specialty Museums
Nestled in the charming town of Nono, Museo Rocsen is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. With an astonishing collection of over 18,000 items spanning natural history, archaeology, and decorative arts, this museum offers a captivating glimpse into the past. Each exhibit is thoughtfully curated with detailed descriptions that enhance your understanding of the artifacts' significance.
This was one of my favourite spots in Nono, this place is plenty of old stuff but even that, it’s still gorgeous and interesting, each step you take is worthwhile, there are descriptions of everything to help you to be aware what is in front of you and understand what was its purpose in those times. This museum isn’t far from the Central Park in Nono, it’s almost 10 minutes in car. I recommend to visit this place for sure. You’ll love it even if you don’t like museums, this is really different than the ordinary museums.
Jennifer V — Google review
Amazing place. It's like 100 museums in one, they have an extensive collection of 60000 different objects, most of them not pieces of art, but simple objects of any type from 1820 to approximately 2000, and if you're over 30 it will surely trigger many memories of your own past. There are also geological, biological, anatomic exhibits, it's definitely a very interesting place and it's worth a visit.

Cascada Grande

Hiking area
Hiking Trails
Cascada Grande is a picturesque waterfall located in La Cumbrecita, accessible via a 15-minute walk through the mountains. While not the most impressive waterfall, it offers a lovely sight, especially if visited early to avoid crowds. The hike is relatively easy and suitable for families and people of all ages. There are ample photo opportunities along the way. Some visitors found the hike fun and enjoyable, while others wished for easier access to get closer to the falls.
It's not the most amazing waterfall but it's very pretty if you can get there early enough to avoid the crowds. We were lucky enough to leave what was already a fairly crowded area just a few minutes before what I assume was a bus load of people. The viewing area was crowded with 10 people. I cannot imagine what it would have been like with the 50 people we saw heading there as we left. But the waterfall was lovely, coming into a little pool at the bottom. I assume you could swim there if you didn't mind the cold water. As for the trail, while it had some steeper parts and was a little tricky at times, it wasn't the death march that many have described. We're not spring chickens but managed it from the trail head in less than 30 minutes with minimal fuss. Getting down to the pool below was very steep however. Do not confuse this with a different waterfall which is much further away and requires a long hike to get there. Tourist office do not mention that one. This one is on the map they give you.
Phil M — Google review
great walk up to the falls! Remember you can not drive in Cumbrecita so it is about a 45 min walk to the falls from outside of town. Totally worth it. We had our 6 year old with us and he loved climbing up the rocks. We took a 1/2 way break in town where there are lots of local foods and shops to grab a snack/water or just a break before headed up the falls. On the way home there was a bus that brought us back to where we parked the car which was nice after hiking and swimming all day. Highly recommend this area, it was gorgeous.

Cabañas del Peñón

Hotel
Nature & Parks
Nestled in a stunning natural setting, Cabañas del Peñón offers an enchanting escape with five rustic cabins that blend seamlessly into the woodsy landscape. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and take a refreshing dip in the infinity pool while soaking up breathtaking views. The cabins are spacious and comfortable, featuring heating and well-functioning showers for a cozy stay.
(Translated by Google) The place is wonderful, the house is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. There is heating, the shower works perfectly. The view is incredible... We couldn't use the pool, because we had to arrive in the rain and in Autumn. The road to get there is a little complicated (and was made a little more complicated by the rain), but you can go up by car perfectly. I then recommend walking to get to each place, and not going up and down with the car, every time. Be that as it may, the place is a dream, it is worth staying here if you are in La Cumbrecita.

(Translated by Google) The environment is beautiful, but the cabins are not what they show on the networks. The children's mattresses were thin, when someone took a bath they leaked in the dining room (disgusting), the bathroom with very little light. I'm not coming back, they are a lie. (Translated by Google) I went to this museum hoping to learn more about the history of the Graf Spee. To be honest, I found very little. Just a few artifacts: a junior officer's uniform, some passports, a bronze bomb, and not much else. Then there were newspaper clippings and a model. But the puzzle comes together piece by piece; the wreckage is scattered in many places: Montevideo, Durazno, Punta del Este, and so on.

(Translated by Google) It was wonderful! I just left and unfortunately couldn't complete the tour, but Margarita was fantastic. She explained everything with dedication, showing you how the machines worked (like the telephone) or explaining them (like the film projector) and their origins. She also gave a detailed explanation of the history of Villa General Belgrano (formerly Los Sauces). Highly recommended. I hope to return someday. Super recomendable. Espero volver algún día.

They can give you a lot of information about excursions and places to eat, drink and buy souvenirs. A word of advice though, going up the clock tower is completely overrated. The views are not very good and, with the windows closed, the heat is unbearable. And they charge you for this experience!

The Museo del Che Guevara in Alta Gracia is a small house where the revolutionary spent part of his childhood. The museum showcases photos and artifacts related to his life, offering visitors a glimpse into his early years and personal belongings as a child. It also provides insight into Che Guevara's struggles with asthma, which he endured throughout his life.
Amazing place to visit! I had no idea Che Guevara was Argentinian, nor much about his complex history with the continent, but left feeling super informed and very glad to have visited. A must!
Louis S — Google review
I was surprised to find a museum dedicated to Che Guevara in Córdoba. It's a very interesting one because this was the place where Che Guevara spent his childhood and teens.
Gmail A — Google review
It's about an hour from Cordoba to Alta Gracia bus station. The coffee and Patatas dulce were very tasty. It's a 16 min walk to the house where he grew up. The museum is arranged in chronological order. Each room has a bief explanation in English and Spanish, along with furniture, clothes, pictures and his famous bike. 1st room displays his room when he was a child, then when he grew up with asthma, and despite that he played rugby and was active, to his 2 trips to S. America, where he noted the social difference among people, to his studies where he became a doctor, then how he obtain the name Ché, to his volunteering in overthrowing the government with Castro in Cuba, to his meetings with world leaders, assuming various roles in the government, and his second family and kids, to the failed attempt to export the revolution to Congo, and, finally to his capture and death in Bolivia.
Matt C — Google review
If you are in cordoba definitely visit Alta gracia and go to the Che Guevara museum. It’s very educational it has a lot of his personal belongings as a child and it goes through his life’s journey. With the admission of 1 museum you get access to 2 other museums as well. It’s also a beautiful small town to spend the day.
Eldar — Google review
Covers his childhood and university days as a medical student. Of course his amazing early adventures on motorised bicycle (4000 km) and later his bigger adventure on motorcycle across South America. Later his freedom fighter efforts to fight for better conditions in poor nations and Cuba.
David F — Google review
Indeed, very interesting to see how Ché once lived. And afterwards, a mojito at the writer Hector's house next door. Both an experience not to be missed if you stay in Cordoba or the surrounding area.
Guido Z — Google review
Excelente; Ernesto Che Guevara's hectic life has always been interesting and in the house where his family lived during his childhood in Alta Gracia we discovered another aspect of his life: his teenage worries. We started a guided walk from the downtown to the neighborhood called Carlos Pellegrini, passing by Sierras Hotel and several other houses where Che lived. Belén, our guide, gave us family details that became known over the years. We arrived in Villa Nydia, a simple house with a typical gallery from Córdoba and wide rooms which the Guevara family inhabited for many years. There, the fresh and dry air of Córdoba allowed young Ernesto to get better from his chronic asthma.
Gilson M — Google review
An excellent museum cataloging Che Guevara’s life as a youngster in Alta Gracia and his life as an adult. The museum is in his childhood home. Excellent exhibition.

A landmark of the city, the Cuckoo Clock is characterized by the presence of a cuckoo that comes out and goes back in every hour, marking the time. It is a prominent tourist attraction in Villa Carlos Paz.
Brilliant clock face in the heart of Carlos Paz not far from the river. The clock is near to a small fountain overlooking load of shops and stores. Perfect pivot opportunity.
William P — Google review
Changed a lot from before. Now the bird only comes out and does 3x a ringing sound. Not much noise or anything to see. Waited for a long time and although it is neat to see, bit disappointing to see how it has changed and not for the beneficial entertainment of tourists or locals. Nice to see if you’re passing by, but not much to make a big detour for.
Chantelle — Google review
Nice bird. Just need more colours. The small door opens to the right side (looking from the front), so it's not a good view from that side. It's better to wait in the center or the left hand side (heading alfajores La Quinta)

Other Outdoor Activities
Las 7 Cascadas in La Falda is a fantastic destination for families, friends, or couples seeking a serene escape. Visiting at the end of August offers a tranquil experience with only a handful of visitors around. The entrance fee is quite reasonable, and while some amenities like pools and the kids' water park may be unavailable during this time, the stunning waterfalls and picturesque lake more than make up for it. The on-site staff are friendly and eager to assist you as you explore this beautiful terrain.
Great place to go with your family, friends, or partner. We went during the end of August so there were about only 20 or so other people there making it very quiet and peaceful. I think we paid only about 200 pesos to get in and though we couldn't use the pools or the kids water park, we still had fun. Staff on-site were great and helpful, the waterfalls were beautiful even though we went during the dry season, and the lake was beautiful as well.

We went in September, so there wasn't many other people. It would probably be much better during the summer. They're was not much too see, other than the very small waterfalls (everything was really dry), and they still charged $7 a person.

The Hotel Eden, built in 1897, became in 2006 an excellent museum where you can make 2 guided tours, the day tours (from 9am), where you can see the cultural history (how it was built, the visits of the " Che "Guevara, Adolf Hitler, the poet Rubén Darío, the Prince of Wales, Albert Einstein, among other world-famous personalities and presidents who went down the Marmor Carrara staircase, among other stories), the nocturnal visits take place at 10pm and they are related to Myths and Legends that happened in the hotel (they start with a movie that tells paranormal events that happened in the hotel and then a dark tour for an hour, where unexplained things happen and they are scary!). Highly recommended !. Excelete attention of the staff, in an unforgettable place and with a unique history.
